also I do think that will should get to hug Mike in one of those hugs where he picks him up a bit. i just think he should get to lift his boyfriend up!! i don’t even mean this in a “buff byers has to be strong and domineering” way, I mean it in a “they’re both dorks and I want Will to hug Mike so tightly after that pathetic airport hug that he lifts Mike up a bit and they’re both laughing and they both almost fall over and Mike deserves to be flustered bc usually he’s the one trying to get people to lean on him so I want to see him lean on others/be cared for by others even just in small ways” way.

Guys whatever you do don’t think about the fact that Mike Wheeler gets no comfort while watching his best friend get taken over by a literal monster and then be in excruciating pain because of this monster, only to be lost to this monster in front of his own very eyes. Don’t think about the fact that despite being the only (aware) child in the situation, none of the adults around him ever try to check up on him or support him through this.
Then when Bob dies he’s the one providing comfort to Joyce when they run, he’s the one comforting and supporting the others by coming up with plans.
The only comfort he gets isn’t until the beginning of episode 9, when everything isn’t even over yet, and it’s too late. He’s already lost his trust in Hopper now. He kept El from him for almost a year, letting him soak in his own depression and self-guilt. He may stay by Hop after he comforts him because that’s what he is craving, it’s what he needs, but we’re back to disrespectful Mike in the next season bc obv it was too much for Mike to forgive Hop.
In season 1, we see a kid with his heart on his sleeve. He knows what he wants and he’s not afraid to tell people this, even when his own family is putting him down for it. But in s3, we see a kid who represses his emotions as far down as they’ll go, full of self-hatred, never opening up to anyone.
I believe this change is mainly due to these facts: 1) he was depressed for a whole year and no one ever picked up on it, again, no one comforted him, esp not his family. He probably thought he was being stupid, we already know he thought he was crazy. 2) at this point, he had been repeatedly shut down when voicing his thoughts (Lucas shutting down his worries about Will, Dustin yelling at him when he was grieving for Bob, Hopper immediately getting mad when he was voicing his frustrations), and he probably doesn’t think there’s any point to it anymore. No one ever listens to him anyways. And then 3) the complete lack of comfort he is (not) given throughout seeing Will, his best friend, suffer and being completely unable to help him. That is, until he’s forced to listen to his screams as he’s convincing the others to put Will to sleep.
So yeah… don’t think about that guys :)

Okay, I don't know how this works so bare with me. I was thinking about Hanji having a little sister and Levi is smitten by her right from out of the Underground? First off, I don't think the sister should be like Hanji but a bit more serious and not that 🤪. Secondly, Hanji not approving Levi at first but later on she knows her sister is in good hands and could rest in peace? I don't know if this makes sense but I would love to see this.
Anon also said: Sorry! I'm the same one from the Hanji's sister. And I wanted the sister to be a medic so she could be with the Survey corps and the storyline is basically from the start to finish with a bit of post-war Levi. Thank you! PS: sister has glasses like Hanji!
Message to anon: Hi! Thank you for the ask. I won't be doing the full storyline you want as it would mean I would be writing a full fic! For this, I will do their first meeting and post-war.

"SIS!" Hange poked her head around your door. "Hi!"
You smiled at her. "You're back!" You hugged your eldest sister and pulled back. "How are you?"
"Excited! Mike and Erwin came back with a new recruit and he's so cool!"
You hummed a laugh. "I'm glad you mad a new friend."
She turned a little. "Here he is! He needs a medical check up. Can you do that?"
"Sure."
"Come here, Levi. This is my sister." Hange said your name with pride. "Best medic out there!"
Levi grumbled a bit. "Tch, I'm fine four eyes. I don't need checking."
You smiled sweetly. "I'll make it quick."
He glared at you and then paused a moment. His anger washed away and was replaced with a very strong emotion of attraction and love. His cheeks burned red as he admired your beauty. He had never seen someone more beautiful in his life before.
He moved closer to you as if he was in his own world. "You're pretty."
You giggled. "Thank you."
"You can take your time with me."
Hange pouted. "Excuse you? That's my little sister!"
You ushered her out. "I'm not little, I'm only a few years younger than you and he is near my age, probably a year or two older." You shoved her out of the room. "He's cute. Give me a shot."
"He's a thug. You deserve better."
"You don't know what I want or deserve. I love you, Hange, but I'm giving it a go." You closed the door and walked over to Levi. "Hi, so, let's exam you."
He nodded and pulled his shirt off. "I'm all yours."
You felt your cheeks burn. "You didn't need to take your shirt off."
Levi blushed. "Tch, shit."
You giggled. "It's okay. It will allow me to do a deeper exam."
He gulped hard. "G-Good."
You walked around him and inspected him. You used different tools, made notes and summed everything up. "Well, handsome, you are very healthy after coming from out of the underground. You should be proud."
He buttoned up his shirt. "That's great news."
You nodded. "Yes. It's wonderful. I will say though, you are lacking sleep." You walked up to him and touched under his eyes. "Years of surviving, huh?"
He leaned into your touch. "Yes."
You smiled. "I know how to get some sleep."
"You do?"
You nodded. "Yes, it starts with you coming on a date with me."
Levi's cheeks burned. "I...uh..."
"Oh, I read the room wrong." You nervously laughed. "Well, shit. Sorry."
Levi hurried up to you and held your hands. "Wait. You caught me by surprise is all. I uh, I would like to take you on a date."
You giggled. "I look forward to it."
Tumblr media
The sun was so warm on Levi's skin as he sat handing our supplies to families in need. After the war, he helped out at the camps giving food, and you provided medical support. Levi was so proud of you as you healed people and cared for children. Levi recovered quickly from his wounds because of you.
"How you doing there, handsome?"
Levi smiled at your voice. "I'm doing well."
You leaned down and kissed him. "Do you need a rest?"
"I guess I could."
You walked behind him and pushed his chair. "Let's go have a picnic. I made us some tea and snacks."
He felt his heart flutter. "Thank you."
You leaned down and kissed his cheek. "You're most welcome."
A bit of guilt crept into his heart when you placed him in a stunning spot. His eye tracked you as you moved around setting up the delicious lunch. "Um."
You looked over at Levi. "What is it, my darling husband?"
He lowered his head. "About Hange...I should have...stopped her."
You held Levi's hands. "Hange made her choice. She loved us, both of us. She wanted us to be happy. I know at first she rejected us as a couple, but she came around to it." You leaned over and kissed him. "Do not blame yourself for her death. I am proud of my sister."
He smiled. "She was a pain in my ass, but she was good."
You giggled. "She was."
"I'm glad you're not mad or anything at me."
"I'm not." You sat on his lap and showered his face in kisses. "I have the best and most handsome man in the world as my husband. I am blessed."
He squeezed you. "I'm the blessed one."
You leaned down and grabbed Levi's drink. You offered it to him and smiled as he sipped it happily. "I love you, Levi. I'll always love you."
"I love you forever."
You kissed him and hummed. "Maybe I should give you a full medical check up when we get home."
He frowned. "I feel fine. I don't need...oh...oooh, you meant." He blushed hard. "Yes please."

After a report implied many voters of color in swing states are souring on President Biden, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, sparked outrage for implying they are only doing so because they are uninformed and blinded by their feelings.
CNN's "State of the Union" host Dana Bash spoke to a panel on her show about a recent report from The New York Times, "Trump Leads in 5 Critical States as Voters Blast Biden, Times/Siena Poll Finds." The report included polling that claimed, "Black voters — long a bulwark for Democrats and for Mr. Biden — are now registering 22 percent support in these states for Mr. Trump, a level unseen in presidential politics for a Republican in modern times."
Bash addressed Crockett and read an excerpt from the report, "In a remarkable sign of a gradual racial realignment between the two parties, the more diverse the swing state, the farther Mr. Biden was behind, and he led only in the Whitest of the six."
"It’s really scary for me," Crockett replied, before going on to explain why she thinks this shift appears to be happening.
"Here’s the deal, perception is reality, and so when you look at the data that was provided in this poll, it talks about how people feel… it is all about how you feel in that moment," she said. "While the facts may not align with their feelings, their feelings are dictating their reality and their reality is that they feel better or they felt better when Trump was in office."
Crockett added that Democrats have been "trying to push back" against this, even as "some very popular African American artists out here saying things like ‘Oh I got checks when Trump was in office. I want those checks again,’ not understanding that really came from Congress."
"So we have got a couple of things, the perception issue and then we also have an issue as it relates to civics in this country and people not understanding exactly how any of this works," she concluded.
As footage of Crockett’s statement shot across the internet, commentators condemned her rhetoric on social media.
"’Voters are too stupid and they don't understand their betters’ is probably not a great campaign message for Democrats," The Federalist editor-in-chief Mollie Hemingway wrote.
"The utter disdain these elitist lawmakers have for their own constituents is really mind-blowing," commentator Joe Concha wrote.
"Where did she get such a sense of superiority?" journalist Miranda Devine wrote.
"Pre Obama the Democrat’s stock response to dropping numbers in a demographic was, ‘we’ll go and listen, and try hard to earn that support,’" columnist David Marcus wrote. "Today it is, ‘they are wrong, and somewhat ignorant, we’ll show them why we are smart and right.’"
"Imagine being this dismissive of your voters? Democrats seem to think the people who they need to elect them are all stupid and incapable of understanding what’s actually happening," radio personality Mike Opelka wrote.
"Oh really," Fox News host Lawrence Jones III wrote.
Many commentators, especially Black conservatives, scorched Crockett for appearing to underestimate Black voters' ability to grasp politics.
"In other words, according to Democrat @RepJasmine Crockett, Blacks are too stupid to understand how much better they are under Biden," conservative commentator and former 2024 presidential hopeful Larry Elder wrote. "Not too bigoted! If Trump said this, Democrats would be drawing up another article of impeachment."
"Once again telling the Black community that we are not intelligent enough to see what’s going on and understand it," former Republican congressional nominee Jeffrey A. Dove wrote.
"Democrats: Blacks are too emotional to think clearly. Smart pitch," HotAir associate editor David Strom wrote sarcastically.

Looking at El in season four, she’s conflicted and wasn't raised to properly process her emotions. When she finally got a proper adult figure caring for her (for a brief amount of time) he wasn't particularly stable himself emotionally. Joyce, Will, and Jonathan are all shown to be fairly distant from her (and even one another) in California. This is while El is at her most vulnerable and still has a hard time knowing how to funnel her emotions; especially because one of the ways she knew how to do that was through her powers. Without them, she feels useless which is worse than helpless.
Angela's bullying compounded on that and without an outlet to properly express her rage we see El build to a breaking point at the beginning of season four where her compounding emotions of loneliness, uselessness, rage, and resentment all come to a crescendo in an act of physical violence that's shunned by the very people that caused all of those conflicting, gnawing emotions to fester in her without them providing her the proper support system she needed and deserved.
El didn't want Mike to know she was getting bullied. Will knew that she was and did little to assist her. I understand that was due to his own hangups of fear and such but I’m sure that still affected El emotionally. She already felt Mike pitied her because she lost her powers and part of that feeling is what made her so upset that he didn't say I love you in his letters because she feared that his love was tied to her powers which is part of why she went to get them back when asked.
Coupled with her returning memories of what happened at the lab El feels helpless finally, which is what allows her to be calmly led away by the police. It's also why she acquiesces to Owen's request so easily. She feels like a monster and she wants to help. She wants Mike to love her and the only way she thinks she can achieve that is by getting her powers back. She doesn't know who she is without them and she didn't get the time to heal from the trauma that caused their loss. She allows herself to go through the horrors that she does in the lab because she wants to be a thing that can be loved and her papa taught her that loved things are useful things.
But her letting Brenner die without forgiving him is indicative of her letting go of that line of thinking after seeing that the people she needed (the ones that she might’ve felt weren’t there for her before) are now here trying to save her because they do love her. And because Max, probably the purest love El has ever known, needs her help. So El lets go of her past and moves on from it. Now stronger for having faced the things that she went through head-on which is what allows her to face Vecna.

Hello hello! I've recently acquired the Mike Logan brainrot and I LOVE the fics you've written and I ADORE your tags about him!!
SO. I was wondering if you maybe, possibly, hopefully were willing to share any headcanons you have of him? 👉👈 If not then just delete this ask!
Thank you muchly!
it’s my birthday today, and it’s been a terrible one at that, but this ask literally made my face light up. I feel gifted by you — I would be HAPPY to provide headcanons of this gargantuan idiot, this hunk of massive Catholic guilt, my emotional support beleaguered detective
₊˚.༄ Mike Logan Headcanons
₊˚✦ he’s like, an adequate cook? Most likely good at breakfast in the morning and maybe some basic dishes, self sufficient so he doesn’t solely live off of takeout (but it’s like a quarter of his diet). I can’t say he can’t cook because it’s just not realistic. Boy’s gotta’ eat, y’know?
₊˚✦ Mike has trash coffee taste, takes it straight with maybe some cream or a sugar packet but refuses to try other things like blended drinks, will drink a cappuccino or an americano but hates being in a Starbucks
₊˚✦ UNLESS he gets spoilt and used to better coffee but then he’s doomed and cursed to the shit coffee at work and complains even more than usual. Which is a lot.
₊˚✦ I’ve got a feeling that, with being super progressive in his views, he definitely was one of those police officers in the beginning that everyone was shocked by. This little stinker, a raucous trouble maker, an OFFICER? PUHLEASE
₊˚✦ he’s so quick to fight for one (scrappy more like) he’s just got no fit outlet, so work became his outlet (terrible decision really) — but he’s got such hyperactivity and restlessness, probably born from some childhood PTSD and ADHD/ADD, that it just gnaws at him and lets him get too caught up in his emotions
₊˚✦ the boy needs therapy + AND NOT WITH LIZ
₊˚✦ cuddle bug but doesn’t look like it immediately — like sure he’s probably got some weird stuff with intimacy beyond sex (I can do a WHOLE other set of headcanons about this man’s issues with intimacy, both sexual and non sexual)
₊˚✦ but literally a cuddle bug, he will YANK his partner back into bed. he’s a lazy weekend guy and stands by it — it’s when he catches up on sleep and gets to take his time. He doesn’t shave on weekends either so he gets the perfect “I know I’m hot but I make it look effortless” stubble which is damning. Like fuck.
₊˚✦ I think when he works out he does cardio and maybe weight training but not all too much? Like above the minimum since he’s required to like, apprehend people, run chase and whatnot — but he’s not living at the gym if you catch my drift
₊˚✦ snores. he fucking snores look at that man and tell me he doesn’t snore.
₊˚✦ gets nightmares but doesn’t cope well with them — or have much if any good coping mechanisms honestly. Maybe later in life he’ll adapt some better ones, but everything he’d recommend to others, he wouldn’t do for himself.
₊˚✦ definitely not a “decorate his place for the holidays” person unless his partner is, then he’ll play along and get some fun out of it, but I doubt he’s got a box of decorations tucked away in some closet.
₊˚✦ speaking of closets — this man, oh I swear to god, has owned the same damn ties for like, 12+ years. What magic is in that fabric because I know he’s too cheap to buy good quality shirts and ties, maybe decent suits but still like department store, Macy’s suits. Joseph A. Bank maybe? I’m doubtful on Brooks Brothers, like there’s blood and probably brain matter on them all but fuck it, NYC dry cleaning. There’s also mustard stains, canonically, on them. He’s a slob, someone get this man a tide pen.
₊˚✦ lol all I can see now is him trying to iron his clothes in his apartment with the whole board and iron in like, a tank and boxers and mid-calf socks as he gets ready before work. Oh Dick Wolf you had so much promise with this man.
₊˚✦ he definitely has played and probably would play in the police recreational baseball league, it’s mentioned in an episode and he’s passionate about the Yankees. I’m torn between him actually sporting baseball gear or if it’s really casual with jeans and jerseys and baseball caps. (Pls pls pls PLEASE)
₊˚✦ ooh I’m not sure when he changed it but he used to wear a gold crucifix, fuck my life, but stopped wearing it later on and I’m wondering if it’s due to him taking a bigger step away from Catholicism? Like he’s absolutely a lapsed Catholic with terrible experiences in both home and church, it makes sense for him to be conflicted if not repelled from religion. I’d like to think out of habit he may still go to holiday midnight masses, and sometimes on his own for the quiet and the near-anonymity.
₊˚✦ I’m thinking that leather coat of his he wears around all the time, even in the snow like a fucking moron, may have been a gift or one of his bigger purchases for himself. Like something he saved up for or found and just, let himself have the little luxury. Coats like that are expensive and high quality, he wears the same damn one nearly every episode in both the original series and when he was on criminal intent.
₊˚✦ it may just be me projecting, but I feel like he’s got a record collection. Probably some old record player and some nice speakers, milk crates full of records that he has to bend over to sort through, groaning about his back all the while. Definitely a lot of jazz standards and the greats like Sinatra, as he mentions in the series at some point, Martin, Baker, Fitzgerald, Armstrong, Cooke, Davis, etc plus some classic rock, stuff like the typical dad rock™️ — doesn’t peg me as a frequent flyer for concerts but goes for really good shows, he’s a medium venue person not the intimate ones but not the giant stadiums either. He likes Billy Joel but isn’t vocal about it.
₊˚✦ he’s got clutter in his place, a little too cramped but it makes it homey, not decorative but at least lived in. Things are more out in the open than put away, he’s more visual and muscle memory based than having things stored away.
₊˚✦ lastly, a massive sweet tooth. A snacker, keeps things in the drawer of his desk to munch on between meals. He’s got more snacks than ingredients to cook with in his home kitchen and I stand by that. He looks like he would enjoy pretzels a lot, like a lot. And other salty snacks, but definitely an ice cream, eat out the tub kinda’ guy. I’m betting Raspberry, Chocolate, or Strawberry. Maybe a chocolate fudge if he’s feeling a little wild.
Note: I’d literally be more than happy to expand on any of these if not write even more headcanons

Here’s problem #71 with Mike’s monologue being fuelled by Will’s feelings and painting:
In that painting, Mike was depicted as a knight in shining armour. We’ve all said that it’s the way Will sees him: as his protector. Not necessarily his physical one but emotional one. The love and support that Mike offers has truly always shielded and empowered Will throughout the show and he expresses that through the sentiment of drawing Mike as a knight in shining armour (or paladin you could say) with a heart on his shield.
Not only Will’s words validate Mike’s desire to be needed but by portraying Mike as his knight/paladin he’s also validated.
But the problem is Mike is expressing his desire to be needed by El here and he feels like she’s the one who doesn’t need him anymore. But when Will gives him that painting and tells Mike that El commissioned it and told him want to draw we have Mike thinking the painting is how El sees him.
As her heart and as her knight in shining armour. Thus, Mike is validated by Will’s words and the painting that El still needs him and his love to shield/empower her.
But it’s not true. Mike isn’t El’s knight in shining armour. Mike wants to be her knight in shining armour but he isn’t because she doesn’t love and need him like that. As shown in S3, we have an entire season of Mike being the overprotective boyfriend/a knight in shining armour if you put it but the show depicted that as an issue and that El was her own person who could make her own choices and protect herself.
Similarly, in this season, El has to find strength in herself. She doesn’t need Mike to empower her with his love.
This is not to say Will is weak and needs Mike to empower him. Mike just makes Will feel that way without even trying, his love and support exist to make Will feel better. He’s his knight in shining armour because Mike makes Will feel better for who he is.
I can’t say the same for El. She’s depicted as a character who needs and wants to gain her own strength and independence. Besides, Mike’s protective nature towards El is different from Will’s and it comes across as overbearing rather than supportive and El does not want or need that.
(I’m sorry if that has gone through twice my internet majorly glitched the first time so I’m not sure if it went through).
I agree with everything that you've said here. It's true. El doesn't really need Mike in that way, and Mike needs to be needed in that way, and this is why, for the past two seasons, they've been consistently not on the same page. They are not set up as equal romantic counterparts, and if they continue this dynamic, Mike is always going to feel inferior to El, and El is always going to feel babied and like she's being held back by Mike. El displays traits of hyperindependence to the point where she doesn't really allow space for Mike to be vulnerable with her, and this is why we see her lying to him at the beginning of s4, because she feels like she always has to project to others that her life is fine and that she's handling her difficulties. Mike on the other hand just wants to be there for her, but he doesn't really know how to do that, and so we consistently see him attempting to bolster El up by calling her a superhero because she's always displayed this hyperindependence towards him, so when she actually attempts to communicate her needs to Mike and tells him she's not a superhero anymore, we have such an empathy miss here from him because he doesn't know how to show up for her when she's never provided a blueprint for anyone to show up for her. I actually think that it's El's own baggage that stands more in the way of her relationship with Mike than Mike's need for validation.
Mike's needs in a relationship are not unexpected. Most people want to feel validated by their partners and want to feel as though they can be a support system, but Mike is never going to get the kind of attention or love he deserves if he remains in this relationship either. He's always going to feel like he plays second fiddle, and therefore he'll be placed in the role of passive partner and emulate the same behaviors we've seen from his dad.
I honestly just want better for them both. I think El needs to learn how to be vulnerable with others and how to actually accept help, and Mike needs to experience what it's like to actually be valued for what he brings to the table.

Debunking common anti Maiko arguments - Nightmares and Daydreams
Not much of a preamble here so I’ll basically launch right into it. This is an argument I’ve seen OVER and OVER again, in which in the “Nightmares and Daydreams” episode of Avatar, Mai suggesting that they order servants around shows that “Mai truly does not know Zuko and that he wouldn’t be comforted by ordering servants around.” And this therefore proves that Mai doesn’t fundamentally understand Zuko as a person - so there relationship was superficial and lacked emotional intimacy - and so on and so forth.
I honestly think there isn’t much analysis here. Let’s once again take a look at the CANON material to debunk this claim - similar to how I did it with the whole seashells argument.
There is no doubt that Zuko is experiencing moral and emotional turmoil when he returns to the fire nation. Yes he was exposed to the daily lives of those who are not fire nation royalty. Yes he sees just how much the fire nation impacted their colonies. Yes he’s on his journey to understand why he fundamentally disagrees with his dad.
But let’s not forget that while experiencing this turmoil - he is still shown to enjoy the perks and comforts of being a prince.
Example 1:
Tumblr media
Zuko looks at the towels for a moment and takes one. He is seen wiping his forehead before walking out of the room. The two servants bow behind him. - The Official Transcript
Then on the way to Mai’s house - he is offered a ride on the palanquin. At first he shows hesitation, but then he smiles, basking in the attention of being a fire nation prince, and takes the palanquin ride to Mai’s house despite it being 10 steps away - which Mai sees.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Keep in mind that he didn’t have to take the palanquin. No one forced him. He refused offers from the servants for a hot massage. Yet there are some perks and pleasures that come with being royalty - and Zuko enjoys them and finds comfort in them.
Case in point: when Zuko happily obliged to Mai’s request for fruit tarts by asking the servants to make them - which once again Mai sees first hand.
Zuko Tell me, if you could have anything you want right now, what would it be?
Mai Hm ... A big fancy fruit tart, with rose petals on top.
Zuko You know, being a prince and all, I might just be able to make that happen.
Mai [Chuckles.] That would be impressive.
Zuko [To the servants.] Do you think you could find a fresh fruit tart for the lady, with rose petals on top?
Servant Excellent choice, sir.
Once again - Mai is not privy to the extent of the emotional or moral turmoil that Zuko is undergoing. She knows that he is unhappy, confused, and angry at himself when he’s back at the fire nation - but she doesn’t know why. But she is shown to understand what he needs. She is not an Iroh - who can say exactly what he needs to hear or guide him on the right path. She is a teenage girl from another broken home who was never taught what love truly means. She was taught to restrain herself and her emotions. But when Zuko needs comfort the most - she provides it for him by attesting that despite all the things she doesn’t care for - she cares for him. She becomes emotionally vulnerable in front of Azula to comfort Zuko amidst his difficult times. And yes, In this example on The Beach - Zuko is shown to be comforted and cared for her by her words.
Tumblr media
Zuko [Close-up.] Because I'm confused. Because I'm not sure I know the difference between right and wrong anymore.
Azula You're pathetic.
Mai [View from behind Zuko.] I know one thing I care about. [Walks up to Zuko. Frontal view.] I care about you. [They kiss.]
Look at what Azula says right before. Mai knows that Zuko suffered constant and endless harassment and abuse from his sister and father. From the creators themselves:
“She’s known Zuko her whole life. She knows his life has been intense” - Bryan and Mike, The Beach Commentary
Yet shes the only one from his old life, other than Iroh, that shows unwavering and unconditional support to him. Like @thethiefandtheairbender said, “Mai gives Zuko a reason to love the home that spurned him.”
So back to the Nightmares and Daydreams episode. Mai’s immediate thought is to cheer Zuko up with something that gave him comfort five minutes before.
When that doesn’t work, we see Mai’s unemotional facade break down. She knows that this is something he has to figure out on his own. Her face shows pure empathy, that he must be going through something very troubling. But she doesn’t force him to stay with her. She gives him space to come to terms with his own emotions. She doesn’t stick by him or force him to cheer up after she sees her methods DIDNT work. She doesn’t get frustrated. She feels empathy for him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then antis claim that Mai bringing up the whole war meeting was a way to make light of Zuko’s trauma or that she didn’t want him to ruin their happy mood. Yet they conveniently forget that Mai waited outside for the entire duration of the war meeting for Zuko - and immediately asks him how it went - ensuring that things didn’t transpire the way it did at the last war meeting. For them, it’s impossible to see that what Mai said was a matter of true concern for Zuko’s safety. But her actions prove otherwise.
Tumblr media
Zuko chooses to spend the night at Mai’s house. He finds comfort in her company. He’s no stranger to shutting down or shutting people out when he’s experiencing emotional angst or turmoil. He’s done it countless times to Iroh in Ba Sing Se. Instead of being anxious by himself, he chooses to stay with Mai. Because she provides him comfort - no matter how small. And he celebrates the small victories with her too. He turns to Mai immediately when he hears the news that he’s invited to the meeting. They both share a smile - and Mai once again proves the unconditional support she has for the boy who has been constantly spurned by the people that should love him.
Tumblr media
And to provide an even more salient counter argument to “Mai shutting down Zuko when he’s trying to explain his “life story to her” - Mai listens to Zuko unwaveringly while he explains how during the meeting, he was the perfect fire nation prince but he wasn’t himself. She doesn’t cut him off out of boredom. She doesn’t shut down his emotions or tells him to feel a way he shouldn’t. After the Beach episode, she learns to listen to him - proving her character development. She’s engaged, she’s listening. She is once again - supporting Zuko throughout his emotional turmoil.
Tumblr media
I will never understand the argument that Zuko’s relationship with Mai represents a regression because he wasn’t being himself when he was in the fire nation. Let’s get a couple of things straight. Zuko had to return to the fire nation to truly confirm for himself that he was making the right decision. But the fire nation will always be Zuko’s home. That is why he is coronated as the fire lord at the end. Throughout season 3, Mai experiences Zuko’s good, bad, and ugly. He never once put up a facade around her. She experienced everything - the emotional turmoil, the parts where he pretended to be the perfect prince, the part where he truly loved spending time with her. And not once did she stop loving him - the only thing she did was hold him accountable when he was acting like an ass. Mai was there for Zuko when no one else from his old life was. And if their relationship was a regression - then why did the creators have Mai stand up against Azula and everything she knew her whole life - for Zuko and his mission? That argument would make sense if there was no episode called The Boiling Rock. But rather, the creators did a brilliant job showing Mai and Zuko loving each other BEFORE his redemption and AFTER his redemption. That Love isn’t conditional based on someone’s morality or redeemable actions. That people who have experienced trauma and turbulent upbringings deserve to love and be loved at the end of the day.

Part 2 of 2 (Part 1 here):
So even though it's made clear that Jonathans role in this group is irreplaceable, there are some important things to note moving forward. And it's mainly this - his family doesn't need him in the same way they once did. We see in Lenora that they aren't having money problems anymore and this is because of Dr. Owens. He set them up in a nice house and presumably got Joyce a job. We don't see Jonathan working for the first time and Joyce had enough in her savings account to pay a ransom for Hopper, so financially they are doing ok. Although Jonathan doesn't get his car fixed, but this could have just been him delaying dealing with things (He does that a lot this season. It also provides a nice metaphor for him being stuck. And there is a whole thing with junkyards and broken down cars on this show.) This is where Hopper comes in. Because now they have a father figure who Jonathan respects. One who can handle shit and only left because he had no choice. Hopper can help pay the bills. Hopper can take care of Will and El. And most importantly, Hopper can take care of Jonathan too. Because he never really had a dad who did that. Jonathan is now the one who is in need of advice. He doesn't know what he's doing with his life and he feels so much guilt and trauma he can't figure it out or talk about it. But Hopper can protect his family while he goes to college now which could ease some of his anxiety. I think not only will Hopper be the one to get Jonathan to figure out what he wants, but Will will have a role here too. Because this whole thing has really been about Will. Jonathan doesn't want to leave him and it's clear with everything going on with Will and his sexuality that Will still needs his support. Hopper being supportive and accepting of him too will go a long way in making Jonathan more comfortable with leaving. Because Hopper isn't Lonnie. But Will also doesn't need Jonathan in the same way he once did. His support and advice are welcome, but Will is older now. Him being more comfortable with himself makes a difference here and this is where Mike comes in. Mike and Jonathan are shown to have an emotional bond with Will throughout the series, just a different one - Jonathan's is sibling/paternal, and Mike's is a deep friendship. The only reason Mike and Will aren't communicating well in season 4 is because of their feelings and confusion over their sexualities. Which is why Will is grateful for Jonathans support in the pizza place - he thinks he's all alone. But he isn't. Mike does return his feelings and once the two of them establish this, they will also reestablish their emotional connection and deep friendship that they've had. While Will will always need Jonathan it's his relationship with Mike that's going to be the catalyst for a lot of plot points moving forward. Because they have a bond that is different than anyone else's. It was Mike who got through to Will in the shed first. Will is going to need Mike in a way that he doesn't need Jonathan and I think knowing this will allow Jonathan to realize that he isn't selfish for wanting to leave. (I think this could also lead to a good friendship dynamic between Mike and Jonathan). Will's always going to want him around and want to talk but he also wants what's best for Jonathan too. Which leads me back to my original point in part 1 about how Jonathan's lying isn't going to mess up his relationship with Nancy.
Because his lying was about Will and not Nancy. And yes Nancy will be upset with him and has every right to be, but they have a conversation that they've been waiting to have since their fight in season 3. They need to clear the air about a lot of things. While this may lead to them deciding to go their separate ways for a little while, they will be brought back together for the inevitable showdown at the end of the season. And we already know how well they work together in a crisis. They showed that in seasons 1-3 and then went and showed us that Nancy and Steve make a terrible team to contrast it. Steve and Nancy's leadership made their problems worse and got people hurt/killed. Everything went wrong this season and part of that was because Jonathan, Will, and Mike weren't there (and of course El too but she plays a different role here). The group needs to be together in all the right ways for everything to work out for them because they each have a specific role to play. I think it's likely that Jonathan will move away for a bit, either for college or he will get a job outside of Hawkins. And then come back when things start happening by the end like Nancy (and possibly the other older teens). This is of course assuming that Joyce doesn't kill him for not applying to school like he said he did. I feel like she's going to be more pissed than Nancy. But I do think that Nancy and Jonathan will reach an understanding and since they are both involved with what's going on with the upside-down (and I think they will be more involved with helping Mike and Will) I don't see them severing ties completely. I can still see them checking in with each other for updates even if they aren't together.

Hate parades, ship wars, and memes aside, can we please talk about this scene for what it is?
Tumblr media
Now, first of all, before my post gets misinterpreted in any way, I would like to clarify, that I am a hardcore Mileven fan, like, I am obsessed. But when it comes to individual characters, I am a very neutral, empathetic viewer, who likes to find reasons behind the actions and reactions of characters. Maybe that is why I am hardly able to hate any character because they don't think like I do or don't act the way I want them to.
I feel like this scene has been interpreted from all the wrong perspectives, but not much from the one it was supposed to be. Among all the hate against Mike, memes, jokes, and stupid questions, people have mostly overlooked how heartbreakingly beautiful this scene actually is. It's absolutely painful for both, Mike and Will.
Tumblr media
You see Mike, who never actually expresses his insecurities and feelings as he is busy taking care of people he loves, for the first time reveals how scared he is that El would eventually lose interest in him because he is not good enough for her. That he just got lucky, and it was dumb luck that he found her in the woods, nothing more than that. Previously, we have only seen him worrying about her thinking that she would die while saving the rest of the world, leaving him alone and empty. But for the first time, we get to know that he has zero self-confidence and he thinks that he is not worthy of her love. And it kills him to think that El would grow emotionally distant from him and go away one day, and then he would have no idea how to live without her because he is just so much in love with her.
Tumblr media
Then we see Will, who listens, very carefully to what Mike is saying, he sees the fear and pain in his eyes, and empathizes with him. He actually even senses that Mike was already upset before he shared what he felt. He understands and tries to assure him that El is always going to need him. Even when Mike compares himself with Lois Lane, and then says that was very stupid of him, Will goes, "No," which I felt was extremely sweet and kind of him to tell Mike that he is not stupid for being scared of losing El. He basically says out loud what Mike has a hard time expressing. Will does it for him.
Tumblr media
In an attempt to provide some emotional support to Mike, Will finally gives him the painting. He reminds him that he is the leader, he is the heart of the party, it is he who holds the party together and without him, everything would fall apart. Even El, especially El. But this is also where things start getting heartbreaking for Will. Because he lies about the painting. He never says it was his choice to make this painting for Mike. He says it was El who commissioned it, she told him what to paint. Probably because he did not want Mike to have even a tiny amount of suspicion regarding Will's feelings for him.
Tumblr media
We see Jonathan, who senses it, and most probably even knows that Will is lying because like El had said in the first episode in her letter to Mike, Will is painting something but he never shows it to anyone. So hearing Will say that El told him what to paint, was easy for Jonathan to understand his brother was not saying the truth. And he guesses why he could be doing so.
Tumblr media
Will also looks away from Mike to hide his feelings, and Jonathan notices that. He notices Will throughout and knows what is up with his brother. This is when Will starts speaking for El and himself, which is heart-wrenching. He starts getting teary-eyed, trying to suppress all his emotions. But Mike does not understand that Will is actually talking about himself too because he does not have any idea about this. It's simple.
Tumblr media
However, Will manages to provide him some emotional support, and Mike feels somewhat relieved that someone understood his fears and insecurities. It's like a parallel of the 'crazy together' scene from Season 2, where Mike understands what Will was going through. And even though he is so heartbroken at the same time, he feels happy that he has managed to make Mike feel better.
Tumblr media
Then he looks away and cries, as the rendition of The First Lie (ST2) and The First I Love You (ST3), this time named Being Different, plays in the background, which is again one heartbreakingly beautiful music. Go listen to it.
This is where many people start asking, "How did Mike not see that Will was crying?". Well, let me tell you it is easy for you to notice because it is being shown to you; because it is meant for the audience to notice. Mike has no clue that whatever Will said about EL, could make him CRY. He took it as merely his best friend providing him the emotional support he really needed. He was looking at the painting and thinking about these things. He does look at Will once after Will looks away, but he could not understand that he was crying. Because Will actually was trying his best to hide it, by putting his hand on his mouth so that no one gets to hear it. Now let me remind you what Jonathan said in Season 1. Will was good at hiding. He is good at hiding from monsters, hiding his true self, and hiding his feelings.
Tumblr media
But his brother, looking at him through the rear-view mirror, notices it and his eyes fill with tears, as he further empathizes with Will.
The immaturity many people have shown in interpreting this scene, which was actually so simple, is ridiculous. They just went on to make this such a negative, toxic scene, when it was actually so so beautiful. A group of people blames Mike for not noticing or in general just not having the same feelings for Will. I don't know guys, maybe one day, hopefully, when you are emotionally mature and have moved far away from stupid things like these hate parades because things didn't play out the way you wanted them to in your imagination, you will understand that you cannot make people have the same feelings for you, that you may feel for them. It is a very common idea, a much-explored one, even in Stranger Things itself, I don't know why some people don't get it. Dustin had feelings for Max, but Max chose Lucas. Steve had, even has, feelings for Nancy even now, she chose Jonathan. Tammy Thompson could not stop staring at Steve, and Robin could not stop staring at her, which initially also happens with Vickie. See, it has been explored several times in the show. So I don't know why it is Mike who gets this much negative criticism for literally being in the same position as Max, Nancy, and Tammy. Like I said, you can't make people feel what you feel for them, it doesn't work like that. Just like you cannot blame Will for having feelings for Mike, you can't blame Mike for having the same feelings for someone else.
You also made some theories about how Jonathan hates Mike for this, which was actually never shown or even hinted at. But even if it wasn't shown or hinted at, I don't know, would he? He himself has been a part of a love triangle, he is sensitive and mature. I guess he understands the situation better than you. Maybe it is just your defense mechanism to cope with the fact that things did not play out the way you wanted them to.
I am not here to change anyone's opinion. I know I can't. But I just really wanted to appreciate such a beautiful scene as this.

some movie mike headcanons.
first and foremost, yes, his actual surname is afton; however, he is living under the name 'mike schmidt' ( mother's surname ) for the time being. his siblings' names are also evan and elizabeth. but--
he suffers from dissociative amnesia after the triple punch of '83, the mci, and william disappearing / being taken by cps ( i haven't decided yet; one way or another, the children are separated from william and michael ends up as the sole provider, compounding his stress and causing a rapid unraveling ).
this works backwards and forwards. he perceives his life as one long day starting around age sixteen, and can't discern between 'yesterday' 'today' and 'tomorrow'. he's unable to conceptualise the future. it's also not that he struggles to remember his past and can't -- it's that he doesn't think of it at all. it slides from his brain. it doesn't feel like a loss to him, it simply does not exist.
elizabeth was so young when he started acting as her guardian that she doesn't even know her name isn't abby. mike cannot recall that her full name is elizabeth and the papers he acquired for them do say 'abigail schmidt'.
the 'who the fuck is garrett' fandom reaction is also the reaction of anyone who knew the aftons before william vanished. there was never a garrett. mike cannot perceive this though. he's censored it out. you could sit in front of him saying 'evan' and he would hear garrett every time.
last psychological point, regarding the above, in addition to the psychosis he may have b(orderline)pd. he has an incredibly unstable self-image, is terrified of losing what little he has left to the point of irrationality, quickly becomes attached to people he meets whom he thinks could be friends ( and support systems, he is desperate for some support ), exhibits mood swings, and feels emotions so intensely that it becomes difficult for him to control. all of this is caused and worsened by his living situation.
moving away from his mental health, he lives alone with his sister and he works. he has trouble holding a job due to paranoia, outbursts, and dissociation. despite being relatively smart, he lacks a high school diploma and thus can only really get minimum wage work. he rotates jobs every three to nine months or thereabouts.
he knows he's an unfit parent and not what abby needs, but he doesn't want to give her up. even if he understands that it would be better for her in the long run, he just can't bring himself to do it. she's all he has and he's desperate to keep her.
his knowledge of freddy's is hazy at best. sometimes an offhand mention may prompt him to say that he's been there before or that he used to like it, but he can never summon up a concrete memory.
'doesn't steve raglan look like his dad' no first of all everyone looks like steve his friend steve. the employment officer and the auto guy and the lawyer and the therapist all look exactly the same it's just one of those faces. also steve doesn't look like his dad his dad looks like [stock image of a customer service representative his brain autofills into any memory of william].
he still knows how to do some fun mechanical shit! he just doesn't usually offer it up because it doesn't come to mind. if you put a machine in front of him and told him to fix it he'd probably do it without thinking, but since it's not something that often occurs to him, he can find himself stumped by his own appliance problem. you very much have to distract him and then slide the pieces into his hands at which point he'll just take over.
fun tidbit: he can kind of roller skate.
fun tidbit: his japanese and russian are intermediate, he learned from past coworkers. normal shelf stocking activity and i'm not joking he was killing time. this should make him more employable. it does not.
fun tidbit: he's a very good artist!

also just w all the chatting abt this today… with Mike being seen by Will as being Will’s knight in shining armor I think it’s worth keeping in mind that mike being cared for/saved by Will sometimes doesn’t make him not a knight. it just means that the knight needs saving sometimes too!! it doesn’t mean that mike’s characterization as the impulsive, somebody who runs into danger, protective knight person is gone, it just means that sometimes that the protective impulsive knight guy needs saving too!!
like I really think that there Needs to be a byler role swap in s5 in order to resolve their arcs because typically, Will is the one providing more emotional support/protection whereas Mike is usually the one providing more physical support/protection. We DO still see Mike supporting Will emotionally etc but it’s fallen by the wayside in s5, and so especially when Will has his little women ‘doesn’t believe that Mike loves him,’ moment, I think that Mike needs to be the one to reassure Will emotionally versus when Mike inevitably gets in over his head with physical danger in s5 (especially with all the signs that he’s going to die and be revived), I think that Will needs to be the one to save him physically, likely by using his powers/using his powers to revive Mike.
especially since Mike a.) has always been the one providing more physical caretaking/support for El but almost no emotional support and so Mike continuing to do this is unsustainable and b.) mike is at a point where his habit of putting himself in danger and his reckless is going to get him killed and is unsustainable and is rooted in his low self-view of himself and how he feels like he has to try and save/help/protect everyone. look at the quarry. it’s not sustainable for mike’s physical and mental well-being for mike to continue to be the one who Always Saves Will/Other People Physically. he needs to be saved sometimes!! just like how it’s not sustainable for Will to continue to be the one who Always Saves Mike Emotionally!! look at the van scene and how much that crushed will!! look at him sacrificing his own emotional happiness to try and help mike’s emotional happiness by trying to patch up mike and el’s relaitonship!! It’s not sustainable!! They need to help eachother and rely on eachother, and this doesn’t need and SHOULDNT change their characterization and who they are!! Mike being saved doesn’t stop him from being a headstrong protector- it just means that the headstrong protector needs saving sometimes too!! Will being the one to save Mike doesn’t mean that he’s suddenly permanently taking on Mike’s role of being the protector and completely changing his characterization and personality- it just means that Will, still being WHO he is, is capable of saving Mike physically in his own ways (esp with powers). Like!! Will IS often a damsel in distress!! But my whole point is that it would be nice to see the damsel do some saving AND see the knight get saved!! Even WILL is beginning to realize the unsustainability of mike saving everyone all the time- we see Will noticing that Mike isn’t eating, we see Will taking note when Nancy mentions the state of Mike’s bedroom, and I think that Will is very likely going to find out in s5 about what happened with Dustin and Mike at the quarry and that’s sort of going to be Will’s moment of realization about “hey, mike can’t always be the one to save people it’s going to get him killed,” and I think that Mike is going to have the same realization about Will emotionally when he finds out about Will having a vecna vision and what Will saw during it (things like Why Will was so miserable at rink o mania and things like Will destroying castle byers etc) or about Will sacrificing his own feelings with the painting and “hey, Will can’t always be the one saving people emotionally it’s going to kill him.” esp since that sort of emotional burden is the exact sort of thing that Henry feeds off of. and yes I also think that people (the audience mostly) are going to realize how much Mike has been struggling emotionally when it comes to his sexuality etc AND how much Will is going to be struggling physically when it comes to his connection with Henry, so I ALSO a think that the original dynamic of “Will supports mike emotionally” and “mike supports will physically” is going to be there just w some extra role reversal thrown in to further emphasize how they support Eachother!!
like the diff between what the audience is aware of regarding Will and mike vs what will and mike are aware of regarding eachother is very interesting to me. the audience is aware of mike’s physical struggle w putting himself in danger (see: the quarry) in ways that will is Not aware of. WILL is aware of parts of mike’s struggle emotionally that the audience does NOT seem to be fully aware of (the subtle ways that Will looks at mike not eating/notes Nancy talking about the state of Mike’s room, picks up on Mike’s insecurities before they’re shown to the audience like they’re often shown to the audience Via an interaction with Will bc he’s the one who notices). Mike is aware of Will’s physical struggle in ways that the audience often is not (ie scenes of Will needing help in that regard are often shown to the audience thru the lens of mike protecting will) whereas the audience is more aware of Will’s emotional struggle because the audience knows that the painting wasn’t commissioned and the audience saw Will’s distress and convo with joanthan whereas mike did not. so imo the audience is going to be realizing more about mike’s emotional struggle whereas Will is going to realize more abt mike’s physical struggle and the audience is going to be realizing more about Will’s physical struggle/connection with Henry whereas Mike is going to be learning more about Will’s emotional struggle.

*bursts through door* *a gazillion character analysis pages fall on the floor* HELLO!! I really hope you don’t mind! But like, I have so many ideas and thoughts about your characters that I’ve been dying to share with you!! I hope that’s alright! Here’s my in depth analysis of your five main Addisons! I gave them all a name starting with “P” LMAO IDK why
Sponsor: Persuader
-I’ll admit, he was hard for me to pinpoint. But I’m not one to back down from a challenge! I decided to make Sponsor the persuader because he has a very “electric” aura around them. Now when I say he persuades, he doesn’t manipulate obviously, he just hypes them up to be brave and that they’ve got this! (Sometimes…) Like in the previous chapter, they manage to persuade the group that “hey! I believe in Spamton!” And is able to get Banner and Survey to agree with them. (And later Clicks) He also has a streak of acting without thinking, like a “rip the bandaid of quick so it will sting less” (Mike incident and Swinging open the door to Spamton’s “room” respectfully) However, he does realize that their actions have consequences a little bit too late in the game. Sponsor is like the energy ball of the team. He keeps them hyped and determined! A spokesperson if you will. He’s like, a cool older bro (I guess younger in this scenario) that will you help you sneak out to try out your new motorbike on the empty road at like 3am or something.
Clicks: Protector
-Another given in the group, Clicks is calculated and logical. Not that he doesn’t show any emotion (far from it…) but in terms w/ Spam especially. Clicks is shown to be on guard. A sword and shield duo kinda? His sword side is that He’s quick to jump to conclusions about Spamton, but is also the first one to get shit done when he sees Spamton struggling with an episode (Panic Attack & Glitch Attack respectively) However, his shield side is that he actually really still deeply cares about our little spam man and the other Addisons. When they first encounter NEO, he’s the first one to actively protect the group and tells them to get to safety. Also, I’m curious to see Clicks side of the story with his thoughts on Spam. Looking at it his way, he probably feels regret, anger, pity and guilt. Like his deep dark feelings to who or whatever did this to Spam and I just think that he… has a tough time processing it because he’s in this state of shock and is supposed to look out for the group! Not the other way around. Someone help out my emotional constipated drama queen.
Survey: Peacekeeper
-This one was kinda easy with the whole, “Survey is the voice of reason!” thing. Survey was the one who had the biggest impact on talking Spamton down from his NEO rampage in the first place. They also try to put everyone’s feelings above their own, and multiple times during the story, they get onto Clicks for being too passive aggressive toward Spam. They are just trying their best by keeping the peace and being a shoulder to lean on. But, I can’t help but wonder if this is gonna take a toll on them(?) not that they don’t want to help Spam anymore, but that they might need a mental break for themselves. I don’t think they had enough time to process their OWN trauma from their past experience with NEO. Like in the previous chapter, Surv definitely seems to be struggling with an internal conflict of their own, help Spamton, or go somewhere safe kinda deal. Maybe Swatch can lend an ear(?) Also!! I just want to give them a big ol’ hug!
Banner: Provider
-I chose banner as a provider because he doesn’t really fit into the “peacekeeper” category, BUT he is shown continuously providing for the other addisons (ex: Hot Chocolate, New clothes for Spamton, Moral Support for Survey etc…) His strengths are that he’s determined, hopeful and optimistic. He’s able to provide a sense of agreement and comradeship with the others by just letting them know that he’s there for them etc,, plus with his dwindling confidence, a provider is a good role for him because he’s able to offer support and help, but just at the sidelines. Hopefully he can get his confidence up!! He seems passionate but anxious, and wants to prove he can do more. Also, Banner seems to be the mother hen of the group if I had to give one of ‘em that role. Like, I can 100% see him telling Clicks, “bring a coat with you it’s gonna be cold!” And then goes on a whole rant when Clicks did not in fact bring a coat while at the same time pulling a spare coat from his inventory to give to him LMAO I love this dude.
Spamton: Puppet
ARUGHAHD DUDE IM SORRY BUT. YOU ARE THE BEST AUTHOR I HAVE EVER MET THAT ACCURATELY PORTRAYS SPAMTON!!!! He’s a tragic but comedic character. You perfectly balanced his humor with his hurt like 10000/10 Spam writing!!!! I also enjoy how you write his mini episodes with his panic attacks, dissociation episodes, and his bouts of depression! (As someone who has gone though similar episodes myself, it’s executed very realistically!) also! I have some ideas on how the group can get spammy out of his static episodes! Some things that help me out of a dissociation episode is just putting my hands in some cold water or just splashing some water in your face. helps distract your brain from trailing off too much! Also giving Spamton something to fidget with might help his anxiety as well! As for talking to him out of a panic attack, just letting him know that his family’s got his back this time. Maybe something like a weighted blanket can help him with his panic? Idk but that usually helps me!! Also book these five a group therapy session asap LMAO maybe Ralsei can be their psychologist?
AAAAAA i love these thoughts i'm currently spinning ur analysis in my head like a microwave and these are just all so awesome i've read over them over and over because all of it is like exactly what i wanted to convey and then more
sponsor is the addison i haven't had too much time developing yet because i have a plan for them later on but what you wrote is exactly it!! :D he does have so much energy, but like electricity, enough consumption of it leads to shutting down. after spamton's disappearance, he couldn't handle much of the back and forth from the other ads, and kept to himself throughout it, not remarking on it knowing clicks and banner at the time were the most bitter. his 'acting without thinking' is also spot on and something they're aware of, which leads to them being too-hesitant at times and then vice versa. that and he's not very good with handling emotions, and has a view of things that isn't so past-driven. like it's not "oh we almost got killed bc of spam" it's "spams back! he's different but he's here". i made them the newest addison out of the bunch which is going to come into play a bit later with his connection to spamton, but i love the idea he's the spokesperson of the group, and a persuasive big bro figure. his energy, when it's there, is definitely contagious (also i could go on and on about this guy i love him sm)
i love this take on clicks as well being like a sword/shield because that!!! is such a good way to describe it!! like, unlike sponsor, he's very past-driven, but that leads to so many emotions that just take over. he's aware of consequences, a little bit more than the rest, but his ego gets in the way of the consequences of his own actions (like if he were the one talking down sneo instead of survey they'd all be nothing but spare pixels in seconds). he's a protector, both a successful and a failed one, and god his emotions are all over because of that as he's trying to process what happened while dealing with the aftermath AND getting over his resentment for spamton whenever it surfaces. dude is SO emotionally constipated it's ridiculous
i wanted to make survey the main pov from the beginning because of how they kinda tie everyone together and are more of an observer than the other ads (i thought about the idea of having a pov from each addison every once in awhile but that just seemed a little much). they are a peacekeeper :D but being a peacekeeper isn't the easiest job especially when something like this pops up. it is DEFINITELY taking a toll on them, and they are in no means a leader, so this responsibility is weighing on them like a lot. Though they are patient, understanding, and trustworthy there is a limit to how far that can be pushed. they still love spamton and the others but i agree they need a lil bit of a break :') (are they going to get one immediately???? lol the answer may not surprise u)
banner oh boy ok i have a little bit of bias (he's grown to be my favorite over time) but him being a provider is like exactly it :D it's how he expresses his care towards others is through items, distractions, optimism etc because that's the one thing hes really confident in is what he can make. he acts as a stand-in leader in the first part, but after failing to apologize to sneo, that confidence ship has taken a hit. he's not sure if he can lead anymore, and has started falling behind the others, but it's only because he doesn't know a lot of what happened to spamton. the guy acts on what he knows, and is aware he makes the wrong decision on inferences but if he can build up spamton's trust, find out how to help, then he can do something from there :'). btw i love this scenario of him pestering clicks about having a coat because it's so true. he won't let his addison family go out without a coat goddangit
with spamton (AAAAAA TYSM :'D I LOVE WRITING HIS CHARACTER AND SO THIS IS SO MUCH APPRECIATED <3 <3) gosh what can i NOT say about him?? he's just so !!! i love this lil puppet guy. his mental state is incredibly unstable, but he's the type of guy to want attention but not from his faults. i'm glad i could have his episodes be reminiscent of what those who have them go through while in spamton's pov of having corrupted software. i strive to be as realistic as possible while also keeping him just a lil computer guy :D tho i like the idea of the water getting him out of the static, because a physical distraction like that is actually so helpful. the addisons definitely got his back this time, and actually in the next chapter i have a lot written about their ideas to conquer the static while also giving him something that will help him but also challenge him a little bit as he makes his return to this new normal.

Tbh I think Karen and Ted are not bad parents as people make them out to be. People can headcanon them as abusive/neglectful but I just do not think they are? The thing with them is that they are ignorant of what the hell is going on in the town, lol. I think they'd be pretty much supportive and helpful when they finally learn what is going on about the supernatural mess. Esp it is strange when people try to make Karen some sort of an abusive or malicious mother or try to make Ted a Lonnie.02 or Neil.02.
I don't think they are perfect parents at all and I think them not knowing what's happening to their children is a big problem because they can't help even if they wanted to, they don't know what happened to Mike and Nancy except that Nancy lost her best friend and Mike lived that trauma of thinking he did too but then he came back and also had a few traumas like at the school in s1 even if Idk what the government told them to explain about what happened there, + the mall fire... but at the same time like, it's the 80s and most people don't even know how things like that impact your mental health, they would think Mike is doing more or less fine for the time period 😬
I also don't think Mike is telling them about the bullying at school because he thought it was something he shouldn't talk about to Eleven to not look "not cool" when he was little and I think he just kind of got used to it in the years and kept it as something he manages alone or with help from his friends
so they are definitely not paying attention to Mike as they should for his emotional needs in my opinion but they are not really what I would define as outright abusive
I do think that Ted in particular is neglectful and emotionally absent and dismissive of Mike especially for what they have shown at least, but I don't think he does it with malicious intent or because he doesn't care about him, it's the way he thinks he should parent his child because of lack of education and because he's probably traumatized himself from his own childhood
now, this is personal but I feel like I relate a lot to Mike because my parents are kind of similar to his, they are not great tbh but they are not abusive in the general sense of the way and gave me every material thing I needed and tried their best to support me in their own way... maybe they are a bit emotionally abusive (?) but without meaning to... I think they are doing their best even if it's not always enough to raise children and if I want to be harsh I would say they shouldn't have had children in the first place, but now we're here and so we go on lmao
Mike's parents definitely did some things that are not okay at all so I think the criticism on them is valid sometimes, like Karen spying on Mike and Nancy or Ted constantly lowkey talking shit about the things his son loves like d&d, that's not ok... but at the end of the day Mike and Nancy and Holly are taken care of in general and they feel that their mother certainly loves them and cares for them in every way she can...
Mike and Nancy rely a lot on their external relationships outside of the family for emotional support but they know they can also talk to their mom if they really need to... it's just, emotional vulnerability is really hard for them, and I think this is Ted's fault mainly, he does love his children but he can't communicate that with emotion for some reason, in his mind he cares for them with providing a home and material stuff and discipline... he thinks that's what a father should do to show love to their children because he was raised that way
and it's not good for the kids but like, it's not the same as what Will lived, I don't think Lonnie ever loved any of his children and when you feel that from your parent it fucks you up a lot because you internalize that deep down as you not being lovable and then react in different ways... Jonathan embraced being different and the weirdo and made taking care of Will his purpose... Will tried to make himself small and invisible and avoid bothering the people around him as much as he could...
the only reason why Will and Jonathan are not on really super screwed up after all they lived is because they have each other's support and also a great mom and Will has good friends... a good support system is around him luckily!!!
so yeah, I think Karen and Ted love their children and they are not evil but they are not great parents and could have done a lot better to make their kids feel more emotionally secure
these two chaotic babies deserved even more love!

Fourteen Republican Senators, including Mitt Romney and Rand Paul, have voted against providing healthcare and benefits to US veterans who came home from America’s post-9/11 wars sick and dying from rare cancers and respiratory illnesses.
On Thursday, the Senate passed the SFC Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act – a landmark bill that will presumptively link 23 conditions to a veterans’ exposure to burn pits while on deployment overseas.
Now, around 3.5 million US veterans who lived and worked next to the huge open-air pits will finally be given automatic access to healthcare and disability benefits if they develop one of these conditions on their return home.
The bill sailed through the Senate with largely bipartisan support, with 84 Senators voting in favour of its passage.
All Democrats voted yes to passing the bill – but 14 Republicans voted no.
The senators who voted against were: Mitt Romney and Mike Lee of Utah, Rand Paul of Kentucky, Richard Burr and Thom Tillis of North Carolina, Mike Rounds and John Thune of South Dakota, Richard Shelby and Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, James Lankford of Oklahoma, Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, and Mike Crapo and James Risch of Idaho.
Senators Steve Daines and Roger Wicker were absent from the vote.
Despite the efforts of the 14 Republicans, the bill is likely just days away from being signed into law.
It first needs to go back to the House for passage before it can be sent to the desk of President Joe Biden.
However, passage in the House is almost certain as all Democrats and 34 Republicans voted in favour of its passage back in March, sending it sailing over the threshold with a 256 to 174 vote.
In that vote, the only lawmakers voting no were also Republicans.
Among them was Rep. Lauren Boebert, who was slammed for heckling as Mr. Biden spoke about burn pits in his State of the Union address.
The Senate has modified the House version to create a phase-in period for illnesses presumptively linked to toxic exposure, meaning a new vote is needed in the House.
During America’s post-9/11 wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, huge open-air pits were used to burn mountains of trash including food packaging, human waste and military equipment on US military bases.
Thousands of US service members returned home from deployment and developed health conditions including rare cancers, lung conditions, respiratory illnesses and toxic brain injuries caused by breathing in the toxic fumes from the pits.
But, until now, the burden of proof has always been on veterans to prove their condition is directly caused by this toxic exposure and almost 80 percent of disability claims mentioning burn pits were turned down by the Department of Veteran Affairs.
The bill was renamed in March after the Sgt First Class Heath Robinson who died in May 2020 from a rare cancer caused by breathing in toxic fumes from burn pits while serving in Iraq in the Ohio National Guard. He was 39.
Two years on from his death, the bill passed on his daughter Brielle’s ninth birthday.
Susan Zeier, his mother-in-law, said that the bill’s passage means she now no longer needs to “carry Heath on my shoulders”.
Ms. Zeier gave an emotional speech outside the Capitol after Thursday’s vote where she told how she has been wearing her son-in-law’s army jacket for the past four years to draw attention to the plight of veterans fighting for healthcare and disability access as she and other advocates lobbied the US government.
“I’ve been wearing this since the summer of 2018 and today, with this bill passing the Senate, I think it’s time to retire it,” she said.
“I no longer have to carry Heath on my shoulders while I’m advocating for all the other veterans who are out there sick and dying.”
Ms. Zeier described her son-in-law as a “wonderful father” who was “always helpful and always generous” and fought his cancer “valiantly” to “survive as long as he could for his daughter”.

Hey there, Mike! I saw your post about diet culture and I gotta say that you stated some pretty good points. Although, I was wondering if you can possibly give us an infodump on diet culture entirely with credible sources stating why foods aren’t bad for you? As well as as an faq of sorts for those who think that shaming or lecturing others for their eating habits will help them make healthier eating choices? And maybe include some resources as well for those looking for support as they’re trying to break off from diet culture? Maybe Dr. Feelings could chip in as well also? You don’t have to answer my question if you don’t want to. I’ll understand. I hope you have a good day/night!
Hello anon! ✨️
I'm happy you liked my small rant about diet culture. I didn't know anyone read that -
I don't know if you would call this an infodump since I'm not autistic, but I will do my best to give you all the insight I have! 🧡🤞🏾
Each source will be a hidden hyperlink marked with an emoji that resembles my favourite food because I say so! ✨️
1. Food is not bad (unless it's poisonous, molded or you're allergic to it!)
Food has no moral value. Food is neutral. It has nothing to do with being good or bad or more or less disciplined.
Food is fuel. We can agree that all food is fuel. Your body needs calories to function & so calories are not the enemy. Food also has nutrients your body needs & of course: different foods have different nutrients.
While there are no "bad" foods, it is true that certain foods don't provide much physiological benefit to the body as others. Some foods have ingredients that aren't nutritious for the body, like trans fats & artificial additives. But naturally, your body won't really 'like' them. They are hard to digest & they can cause trouble.
Balance is key!

2. Why you should not comment on the food choices of another person
... even though you mean well & care about them.
You aren't them.
Hihi, did you think there was more? I can name many other reasons, but they all are summoned up in these three errr four words: YOU ARE NOT THEM.
The ONLY case, in which you were allowed to say something about someone's eating habits, would be if you were their doctor. Which you are likely not.
To be fair, it's hard to watch someone struggle or make the 'unhealthy choice'. It's only natural that you want to help. But only if you really think it would benefit - most of the time, the person is aware of their problem. I think you have to consider the situation & the relationship status.
3. Breaking free from Diet Culture
This is a tough one & it's not easy. As Dr. Feelings, I can give you these tips, but the list is bottomless.
Think of your body as your friend (it is).
Do a lot of self-work: work on your selfworth, on your mindset, on your stress management & your emotional well-being. Consider going to therapy to heal your mind & to improve your mental health.
Define why you want to be free from it, what do you want to achieve? Ask yourself why diet culture has a hold on you & why you let it.
You might want to check out the hashtags #foodfreedom #ditchdietculture & #edrecovery out on social media. There can be a lot of positivity & help there too.
Keep your distance from ANYTHING that screams diet. Like, really. Not worth it. Be aware that gyms & diet companies get more prominent in spring, early summer & as the new year's eve approaches (for obvious reasons). Mostly, it's JUST marketing.
4. Resources for Recovery 🧡
I have found this nice website thay can give you some information on Eating Disorders & about Recovery:
& also this website:
I know you are all strong fighters & I'm very proud of you all! Keep going, you're amazing!
(Wow, that was a lot. I hope you got something from it at least, I'm not as brilliant as Donnie >/////<)
I love you all! 🧡✨️
