Hello, I have discovered withcraft recently and I felt a very strong pull towards casting spells with music, however I can't seem to find almost any info on it. I found like a single book I could get my hands on about it and like half of it is in Italian.

Music *is* magical to me. The intervals. The perfection in its numbers. The harmony. Musica universalis.

Are there any sources about this? I know the Pythagoreans thought about this a lot but didn't write anything down.

That's super interesting!! There certainly are some sources on this, but as it's not something I have looked into I can't verify if they're good or not.

Interestingly enough, a friend of mine recently asked about the book "The Occult Arts of Music: an Esoteric Survey from Pythagoras to Pop Culture" so perhaps that'd be a good start?

There's also this chapter from The Secret Teaching of All Ages by Manly Hall: The Pythagorean Theory of Music and Color

Music was also used in societies to tell stories and myths, and as a way to worship or honor the incorporeal.

You may find that researching math in magic/occultism is helpful since music relates to math.

Not sure that these will help as far as incorporating magic into your practice but I hope they'll at least get you started!

The whole domesticity thing going on with Spuffy in Spike’s crypt. It’s like their love shack. But I think it represents more than that. Has greater symbolism.

I am inclined to remember that the rape/sexual assault occurred in Buffy’s home and not Spike’s. I think that is significant. They’re much more themselves and at “home” in Spike’s domain because they don’t have to hide who they are and how odd of a couple they are as a result. In Spike’s crypt the line between “human” and “vampire” or “ensouled” and “soulless” just isn’t there. They’re free to be themselves. Not tied down or defined by their nature as Monster hunter VS Monster. In this place - they’re just “Buffy” and “Spike”. That’s really quite beautiful.

Of course all this domesticity happens all the while Buffy is “using” Spike and that can’t be just ignored. But I think this crypt allowed Buffy an easy comfort despite how she might be feeling/not feeling while with Spike. Despite how much she’s using him to feel. And I think Spike losing it in Season 7 is symbolic to him losing himself - his mind and his sense of self. I could be wrong but I don’t think you ever see this crypt again after Spike restores his soul.

I just think it’s ironic that a crypt - a hole in the ground - is where a vampire lives but Spike was never more like a man than he was when he was in his crypt. And the same goes for Buffy. She was never more like a woman. Depressed or not - she could be herself here. Free from consequence. Free from responsibility. Free from anything that resembles pain or chaos for her. Free from identity - as the Slayer and as a Summers. It is such a safe space for her and a place of comfort and trust even if she doesn’t want to admit to it.

The crypt represents safety and security for both Buffy and Spike. It’s where Buffy takes Joyce and Dawn when they’re in danger from Glory. It’s the hide away, the shelter when the bombs are falling. Buffy accepts Dawn wanting to go to Spike’s while they’re dealing with Dark Willow claiming that she feels safe there despite the AR. Then at the end of Season 6 when Buffy and Dawn falls into a ditch and can’t get back out of it they immediately thought of the crypt as ‘the way out’. The back door, the escape hatch.

So if Spike’s place represents protection - a safe space, then Spike himself represents a protector - a saviour. And that’s how him and his arc ends.

Again, did he need a soul? Nah, he just needed to be himself and be accepted for it. And there was never anything that better represented who and what Spike really was than his comfy crypt that Buffy loved.

SPIKE: “Do you even like me?”

BUFFY: “Sometimes.”

SPIKE: “But you like what I do to you.

*pulls out steel hand cuffs*

Do you trust me?”

BUFFY:

*demurely*

“Never.”

I wondered if this question is going to be taken seriously, but do you ever think about praying to celebrities who have passed on?

I once thought about this and decided I was going to pray to Robin Williams randomly and asked if he could send me something to laugh about.

That night I watched a comedian on YouTube that had me hysterically laughing.

Do you think praying to celebs could also be a thing? Like maybe if you need an acting role, or maybe need to play a “part” to get the job you want, etc.

Or maybe you pray to Betty White to have better communication with your best friends. (Hypothetically)

I haven't done this but I think you absolutely could! I don't see how it's any different than ancestor work or those who work with the spirits of deceased historical figures.
