Twisted Wonderland Reaction Part 17 ~ Special Edition

Hello everyone! 

So…it’s been a while since I’ve made one of these. Almost 2 years to be exact. But after book 5 forever changed how I engage with twst (for better and worse), I haven’t really been up to doing reaction posts anymore. Also after book 5 I actually began focusing more on the jp server since there were many things in the official translation that I found…lacking to say the least. 

But when twst jp released this mv on April fools day, I just knew I HAD to talk about it! I’m actually surprised more people aren’t. Probably the biggest thing about this mv is that in a lot of ways the narrative of book 5’s ending has changed now we have context to how NRC Tribe performed. I’ve seen a lot of posts on the bird app saying things like it makes sense now why they lost the VDC. 

I will say, this is definitely NOT a perfect performance. But as a former dancer with WAY too much time on their hands, I decided to analyze this. So for context, I did a mix of ballet and jazz for eleven years and in 2017 I decided to return to dance and have been dancing consistently ever since. To judge this fairly, I watched the MV several times, four times per member, (do the math and feel free to judge me). And with that, here are the things that stuck out to me the most. 

He is beauty, he is grace, HOW HE HELL DID HE NOT KICK EPEL IN THE FACE?!

Synchronization/symmetry 

The lack of synchronization was the first thing I noticed, ESPECIALLY in the first 30 seconds. The footwork is sloppy and Deuce and Ace in particular aren't as sharp with their moves as the other five. Rook seems to be the only one doing the choreography correctly because one point at 0:25 (and again at 3:31) where he bends his knee higher than the others and thanks to those fuckass uggs standing out so much, I couldn’t unsee it. At 1:03, 1:07, 2:07, and 3:00 Ace’s form is noticeably off as well.

And this may just be a personal hangup of mine but I found lack of symmetry between the boys at 1:14 very odd. Like, I don’t know how I can describe it but the way Epel tried to take center stage during his and Vil’s duet gave me the impression that wasn’t originally in the routine. At 1:13 there’s a split second where you can actually see Vil looking down at Epel like “...wut?” I immediately thought about that moment right before they go on stage where Epel offers to take on Vil’s solo’s because he looks so weak but Vil refuses. I wonder if Epel trying to take center like that is a callback to that exchange. Unfortunately, since the boys were perfectly symmetrical for the rest of the song, it stands out as awkward all the more. 

Kalim and Jamil

Lowkey, Kalim and Jamil both carried this performance after Vil. The little magic with the mic was a super nice touch and Kalim shines the most during the dance break. He seems to be having fun with it despite being in agony. What’s interesting is that after Ace and Deuce, Kalim is the most out of sync but he pulls it off well since I can tell he’s been on the stage before. Both he and Jamil are natural performers. 

Vil’s movements

So, this has been something of a headcanon of mine but it seems to have been proven correct with this mv. Vil has always struck me as someone who probably has a lot of classical dance training but little training in other styles like hip-hop or jazz. His movements are very graceful and elegant but almost…too elegant? I don’t know if that makes sense but they seem very smooth for this style of choreography.

AND THAT FUCKING GRAND JETE!!! Absolutely flawless but it feels SO out of place here! I will give him credit though, that is one of the most difficult jumps to pull off in ballet, and the fact he did that in fucking 5-inch heels right after the most mentally and physically traumatic episode of his life, it’s beyond impressive. And the fact he landed perfectly and so seamlessly moved into his final solo is even more remarkable. Still, that was the most jarring element of this choreography and I think it would still be out of place even if this was a “perfect” performance. 

Now here’s where I potentially piss people off

All in all this is a perfectly imperfect performance. Being completely objective and not taking my love for these characters into account, I honestly still don’t see how they lost. Well, I understand why but it still is fucked to me. I can understand Vil feeling like NRC Tribe didn’t perform their best since they were exhausted and hurting from dealing with his overblot. I can also understand that they were probably a lot more polished in rehearsal. But here’s the thing,  for a group of amateurs, I would probably expect this quality of performance even if they hadn’t had to deal with Vil’s overblot.

First off, the choreography is rather complex for beginners and requires a lot of synconization to look correct. But perfecting syncronization alone can take months and in larger groups sometimes even longer. To give an example, last year at my dance school, the kpop class did a TWICE cover that took us the better part of eight months to learn and we had to learn the chours in groups of three. And even then we still fucked up alot because again, none of us are professionals. If NRC Tribe can look like this after only ONE MONTH of training, that’s extremely impressive. Vil, can you train me please?? XD

As for having to perform right after beating OB Vil’s ass, again I was expecting to see A LOT more noticeable errors. And knowing what they all just went through honestly makes me admire this all the more. The thing is, it’s easy to be beautiful when everything is right and perfect in your world. But being able to smile even when you’re struggling and your heart is breaking is even more beautiful still. Personally, I don’t think I could perform even half as well if it were me. 

It’s unfortunate that we don’t have a MV of Neige’s performance so I could do a fully fair analysis. But if we look at all the evidence, it seems to me that NRC Tribe still gave a better performance. And I think the true tragedy here isn’t even that NRC Tribe lost since I think that was always a given considering the dynamic NRC and RSA has.

The true tragedy, I think, is that Vil could be convinced that this perfectly imperfect performance was still inferior to Neige’s. But I’ll leave that for another time.

Also, Deuce had long hair, Cater was a beastman, there was a character based on a white rabbit motif, and so on…the Heartslabyul dorm experienced many twists and turns in terms of both design and content."

There are Hollywood Undead albums besides 'Swan Song'?

Ayup! No idea why you are asking me, you could have looked it up. Did you want my personal opinion? I can add personal opinion, yur search engine is not going to have it.

HU discography contains: 8 studio albums, 1 live album, 4 extended plays and 1 remix album, 3 singles that is not featured on either, and 2 remix singles that also aren't on either.

Since you've specifically asked about the albums:

Swan Songs (2008) - The first album, opens with the famous Undead (aka the HU anthem, if you ask me, which you did), and contains such classics as Everywhere I go, No. 5,

American Tragedy (2011) - Produced after the band trimmed down to 5 members, most famous being the walking out of Deuce. Contains the absolute legend we know as Bullet. A little less rap and a bit more sind-songy over-all.

Notes from the Underground (2013) - Rather popular for creepypasta fanart compilation music videos in my experience. Notes from the Underground has the same sound as Swang Songs, but it's done by people who now have better skill. You wouldn't find a song on this album that is not an absolute banger. Features my favourite: Delish.

Day of the Dead (2015) - If you peak in a genre like NftU did, the only way you can stay on the same hill is to go downhill. Or you can change to another hill. This album sees incorporation of new elements into the music. It is notably way more electric and I'd say it has a rougher beat. Has such beauties as Day of the Dead (which I cannot help but view as new era HU anthem), Take Me Home, Warchild, Party by Myself, and Gravity. Also, the last album Da Kurlzz worked on.

Five (2017) - Whatever is the change that happens in Day of the Dead, HU lean into it more here. California Dreaming sounds like a love-letter to American Tragedy, Black Cadillac reminds of Swan Songs/NftU. This album took me some time to get used to. I like Bang Bang the most, I call it "Bullet's sister".

Psalms (2018) - Strictly speaking, this is an extended play, but unlike the other EPs, Psalms doesn't get lumped to other albums (like Swan Songs B-Sides and Swan Song Rarities), nor is it made of remixes (like Black Dahlia Remixes). It's darker, and it's angry. It's five songs, and I've never managed to take a liking to any single one of them.

New Empire, vol. 1 (2020) &New Empire, vol 2. (2020) - These two, which you can view as just one big album if you want to, have new sound. I'd call this meta-metal or post-metal or death-rap. this isn't just another hill, this is a whole new mountain range. I do get it, but I don't have to like it, so I don't. Time Bomb, Nightmare, Idol, and Unholy are in my opinion the better ones, but they are still alien.

Hotel Kalifornia (2022) - It is a step back in the change of style. It has the meta-metal in it still, but tuned down several notches. It sounds more... hexagonal. That doesn't make sense, I know. But it's like Five, but hexagonal.

The live album, Desperate Measures, came out in 2009, so it's still a lot of work on their skill. It is notable for having covers - songs by other people sung by HU and vice-versa. A neat version of the Immigrant Song there, actually.

Top 10 Favorite NBA Players (#8) Jayson Tatum

At my number 8 spot on my Top 10 Favorite NBA Players list will be Jayson Tatum. Tatum played for duke in his college career, then was drafted by the Boston Celtics with the 3rd pick in the 2017 NBA Draft. Since then he has become a superstar level player and with that one of my favourites. The first main reason i am a fan of Tatum is his wholesome nature. In my experience of watching Tatum i have never heard of him doing anything seriously harmful, on or off the court. Tatum also has a son that is possibly the most famous child of any NBA player under the age of 10. Jaysons son is Deuce Tatum who seems to be at alot of Celtics games on the sidelines. The relationship that we see between Tatum and his son on camera is very cute and wholesome which is cool to see. Tatum is also a very young NBA player, especially for being a superstar caliber player. For people in their late teens such as me i feel like when we see a very young athlete or celebrity its much easier to like them or to relate to them, i believe this is another reason i am a supporter of Tatums. Now, on to the basketball part of why i like him, his jumpshot is very aesthetically pleasing which seems to be a reacurring factor as to why i like some players.Also. in one of his first seasons he managed to dunk on Lebron James (i am not a big fan of his) and he celebrated in his face which is very unexpected from a first or second season NBA player because you would expect them to be too scared or intimidated by the biggest names.

I really enjoyed watching this, and he also did it again a few seasons later. Jayson has also been able to lead a good Celtics team with many veterans to the NBA Finals in 2022. They only managed to take one game from the Golden State Warriors. In conclusion Tatum is a young superstar in a league of greats which makes me appreciate his talent at his age. He is also just a wholesome and down to earth guy from what is shown on television.

The inspo for this was very concerning. The inspo was about 3-4 drunk dudes who tried to make their own b00ze with random bs and accidentally added something poisonous which k!lled them back around 2017-18.

I heard this in the news I swear it wasn't me-

3rd person POV

"S..so.. because Y/n senpai got a sideline job as a bartender,you're going to try and make a drink for them with no experience whatsoever"

Ace explains as Deuce laid down a bunch of drinks he bought from Sam. "Precisely!... Ok when you put it that way,it sounds very concerning"

"Because it is..? Deuce just make some apple smoothie and go on with your day. If Y/n senpai dies because of whatever concoction you made--" "You're saying that as if I'm insane enough to put poison in the drink"

Deuce said as he rolled his eyes and Ace face palms. "No I'm saying you're stupid enough to probably make poison with-- WHAT THE FUCK-- IS THAT CAPRISUN?!"

Ace said as he starts looking through the paper bag. "Yeah. I also bought Yakult, monster energy drink, red bu--" "ARE YOU INSANE OR TRYING TO KILL SENPAI?!"

Ace shouts at Deuce "...none.."

"then you are absolutely stupid. You bought TWO different kinds of energy drinks, FIVE flavours of Caprisun, FOUR types of different yogurts and SEVEN FUCKING PROBIOTIC DRINKS?!"

Ace shouts again as Deuce was confused as to why that is a problem

"oh dear sevens.. YOU ARE STU--" "what are you shouting about?!"

Trey then enters the kitchen "Deuce is trying to poison Y/n senpai" Ace says calmly

"YOU WHAT?!"

Trey shouts at Deuce "none of these are poisonous.."

Deuce said as he took out a tall glass, and made cute circle shaped ice cubes to put on the glass "Are you gonna put all of that in one drink..?"

Trey asked as he saw all of the drinks on the table

"Well.. yes and not quite. I was also gonna add matcha, whipped cream and tapioca---"

"jail."

Ace and Trey said in sync while looking at Deuce with a serious face

"... I can't legally go to ja-"

"Deuce,listen. You clearly don't understand what me and Deuce are implying so let me explain"

Trey said as he removed his hat and sat down Deuce down on a chair as he briefly explains on why he shouldn't do this.

"So random bs mixed together is bad?" "Absolutely" Trey and Ace replied. "Well then how do I make a good drink that isn't bad?"

Deuce asked "You don't" Ace said "Magicame tutorials!" Trey suggested. "They'll be--"

"Deuciee??"

Suddenly,Y/n's voice echoed through the halls. "Here by now.."

Deuce continued his sentence as everyone felt a rush of adrenaline. "Ok ok ok-! Ace distract Y/n while I help Deuce get a lover" "Wait what--" "On it,senpai!"

Ace said as he rushed out of the kitchen. "What's one drink you know?!" Trey asked Deuce as he tried to think of one

"B-bloody Mary!"

"Fuck no that's alcohol"

"uhhh Gatorade--"

"absolutely not!"

"Protein shake!"

"That's something Jack would appreciate so obviously not"

Trey and Deuce just go back and forth on this topic.

"(fav homemade beverage)!"

"Fuck yes. Now we're talking! Who doesn't like (F/d)?!"

Trey said as they both got to work.

「With Y/n」

Ace rushed to Y/n as they were looking for Deuce "Acey! How ya been??" Y/n asked as they ruffled his hair

"G-good!" "That's great! You're looking--... I was gonna say awfully dashing but you just look awful."

Y/n said as Ace awkwardly chuckled "W-wanna play Blackjack? It's been quite a while,no?"

Ace said as he drags his senpai to it down on the lounge "Actu--" "I-I'll go get the cards,y-you stay right there!"

Ace said nervously as he left and room the deck from a different room and headed straight to the kitchen

"Psst!" Ace said as the two looked to his direction

"I'll play cards with Y/n. You two better hurry up" Ace said and immediately left.

"I'm back!!" Ace said as he sat down and started shuffling the cards and distributing them

"Ace,as much as I'd love to play with you. I need to see Deu--"

"w-who?? Deuce?? He- uh.. he's.. asleep! W-what do you mean??"

Ace said nervously again trying to keep Y/n sitting down "He is?"

"Yeah yeh yeah!! T-Trey senpai checked up on him and found him asleep after.. uh.. d-doing homework! L-let's just play cards and let Deuce sleep!"

Ace says as Y/n sighs and agrees to play with him

That was odd. I thought he wanted to hang out.. I guess he did want to be an honour student so I can't really blame him,I must be distracting him...

"WHERES THE ICE?!" "STOP SHOUTING OR ELSE Y/N WILL HEAR US!!" "IM PANIC SHOUTING"

Deuce shouts and immediately realized. "Oh.. yeah.." "the ice is in the fridge" Trey said as he nods.

Within 2 rounds of Blackjack, Trey and Deuce were finally done "We should taste test this--" "No need,senpai! I can't keep Y/n senpai waiting!"

Deuce said as he took the tray and started dashing towards Y/n in the lounge. "Young love. Really makes you wanna question people's sanity and if they're not overly obsessed to get their  crush's validation"

Trey muttered as he watched from afar "That was so deep"

and right behind him,was Sheila. The Jack of all in Heartslabyul.

"MOTHER GLORY!!" "I wanna bet you guys accidentally put poison in that"

Sheila said again with a chuckle "Please no."

"If Y/n, dies. Just so you know I'll still steal their so Ka since my pairs are being stolen by Ursula".

"Y/N!!" Deuce shouts as he approached them in the Heartslabyul lounge.

Ace sees him and immediately backs up to the wall to not be involved in any disaster

"Oh? Deuce! I thought you were asleep" Y/n said as Deuce looked at Ace and he nods.

"Well I was. But I remembered you were coming and thankfully I made this drink for you before I fell asleep while doing homework. I had it chilled in the fridge so I hope you enjoy because you are the VIP today!"

Deuce said as he set the drink down infront of Y/n

"Interesting.. it looks presentable but the way you introduced the drink is a very rude move towards a VIP customer"

Y/n said as Deuce chuckled and sat down with Y/n as Ace left.

"Also,unless the VIP says so, bartenders cannot sit down with them due to the many many other customers they serve. The entertaining the VIP is mostly the customer's choice"

Y/n explains again as Deuce tried to hide his embarrassed blush

"Kidding. Besides this ain't no bar,and I love your company"

Y/n said as they made Deuce look at them by grabbing his chin with their index and thumb. "I'll try the drink,and maybe we can play cards?"

Y/n said as they looked at the drink and back to Deuce's eyes. "T..that'd.. be nice.. senpai" Deuce said as he blushed even more,making Y/n chuckle and taste the drink.

Just as the raves were coming in not only for James Franco's directing and acting in The Disaster Artist but also for his work in a dual role on HBO's The Deuce, there came a series of allegations of sexual misconduct dating back to 2014. Franco had been thought to be a strong contender for Oscar nominations for both directing and acting, but was shut out of those categories: The Disaster Artist received only one nomination, for the screenplay by Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber. We're not at the point yet where recent filmmakers' work can be judged independently of their personal lives -- the way, say, we appreciate the work of past artists without referring to the less admirable sides of their lives. To the extent that I can shut out Franco's alleged misconduct from any consideration of his movie, I have to say that the film is a delight, a witty, observant portrait of a grandly mysterious eccentric whose age, country of origin, and source of income have still never been fully documented. It's also a film about the movies, about the joy and pain of making them, exhilarating even when the product, Tommy Wiseau's The Room (2003), is widely derided as one of the worst movies ever made. Franco's performance is a great gallery of mannerisms into which the actor himself fully disappears -- although there are some who would say that Franco's own reputation for ego-tripping is an essential jumping-off point for the character. But the film is also a directorial showcase, in which Franco shows skill that his other work hadn't previously manifested. The Disaster Artist is full of tasty bits, such as Melanie Griffith's cameo as an acting teacher and Sharon Stone's as an agent. As Greg Sestero, Dave Franco serves to keep the wacked-out narrative on course, and it's fun to watch the brothers play off of each other.
