So, we all love unexpected headcanons, right? Because I had one pop into my head earlier about Jameson and had to share it. To put in some context, let's first start off with background: orange cats, we all know that they're special in their own way. Compared to other cats, they're just different. These cats are accident prone and also their behavior is just a scientific anomaly; add it to the already long list of things that scientists argue about (that last brain cell is constantly overworking and there's never enough glucose to provide for it [Krebs cycle could never]). They could be their own breed as far as I'm concerned. The world and physics works different for them, don't ask me why. It makes about as much sense as to why cats also classify as liquid.

Enter Jameson Winchester Hawthorne. He's basically the Mad Hatter and Cheshire Cat combined of his brothers (although this can also be applied to Xander in some ways, too). He is controlled chaotic energy personified. Now, take Jameson and an orange cat. The chaos would be unmatched.

While I can't see Jameson as much of a cat person compared to Grayson, this type of cat would be PERFECT for him. It's like looking in a mirror, his perfect missing half. Hawthorne House would never be the same. This cat would be attached to the hip with him and I can imagine it being a male named either Nacho, Cheese, or Cheetos. Regardless, this cat would be the epitome of madness and Jameson would be its unleash-er. Meanwhile, Avery would be driven to insanity with this new cat; she would love him all the same but she would be rather annoyed by the mess and just the many new antics her boyfriend is participating in. There would be no peace and she would need to find new mental stability as she tries to escape the whirlwind of craziness that follows her everywhere. Oh, and what's even worse, this wouldn't be confined to indoors; this cat is an outdoor feline. I'll let you chew on that and imagine where it goes.

random little quirks about each the inheritance games characters!

these are all headcanons I made up!

avery definitely sings in the shower. she has full on concerts every time and jameson thinks it’s hilarious. avery will get really embarassed if you bring it up and doesn’t like to talk about it.

jameson stills counts on his fingers. he’s a grown man, in college, paying for taxes, and he still uses his fingers to count.

grayson is a huge grammar and spelling person. if you spell a word wrong or don’t use correct punctuation, he will correct you in seconds and make you feel like an idiot.

xander is a huge nail biter. whenever he can’t sit still or is anxious, he bites his nails.

nash will have headphones in and will dance around his bedroom, kitchen, etc. he gets very flustered if someone walks in on him dancing to music the other person can’t hear. when libby walks in on it, she just starts dancing with him.

libby is a terrible liar. you can always tell when she’s lying or making something up. she always gets really guilty after lying too.

max snorts when she laughs, but only when she’s laughing really hard. she’s kinda self conscious about it but xander thinks it’s so cute.

thea is a massive germaphobe. her room is always so clean and she hates touching dirt, animals, blood, etc. she is constantly washing her hands and doesn’t like germs overall.

rebecca is an outfit repeater, but she has the cutest clothes ever so no one really cares.

cowboy barbie au headcanons

shoutout to @snowangeldotmp3 for building this wonderful imaginary world and being absolutely feral with me for cowboy barbie

barbie is from a super small town & her family owns a ranch that she’s set to inherit

she grows up and starts working as a farmhand

her best friends are ken & emma

ken works alongside her, mainly in training and caring for the horses (duh) whereas emma works as a tattoo artist at a parlor in town, though occasionally she does help barbie on weekends with some harvesting or repairs/construction if an extra hand is needed

gloria would be from the city definitely. like queens or something; city girl and very artsy and grounded

she’s introduced because emma tries a semester of art school in new york before deciding it isn’t for her, and it’s through one of her classes that she meets gloria

she invites gloria to her hometown for a couple of weeks in the summer

gloria is immediately smitten with barbie

barbie is INSANELY charming and attractive

she’s tall (5’10 is her canon height in my head in every universe, idc idc), strong, lean, tan, with the softest skin and prettiest hair and eyes

she speaks confidently and her smile is dazzling and swoon-worthy and her voice has this little drawl in it and it all makes her SUCH a heartthrob

not to mention the fact that she’s so polite and such a gentlewoman, doing things like always holding/opening the door, helping to carry others’ groceries (especially the town elders), saying good morning/afternoon/evening to anyone passing by while she walks (and if she’s wearing her cowboy hat, she does that thing where she takes it off or tips it, out of courtesy)

she offers her hand to hold while going down the steps or anything steep around the ranch, as well as pulling the chair out for gloria at dinner, whether it be at barbie’s house or emma’s or ken’s or some restaurant or diner

^ these two things she seems to only do with gloria, though, which has ken and emma definitely giving each other the side eye

the town’s kids adore barbie, and she’s amazing with them. she carries around little stickers or stamps or cool rocks she finds to hand to them, depending on what she knows they collect

also barbie has rock hard abs that gloria literally wants to drool over

barbie calling gloria “city girl” and “little lady”

always in that teasing way, with her accent and that damn smile

emma learning about stick and pokes in art school, which she thinks are so cool because you don’t need much for them and she can totally do them

gloria’s heart literally skipping like 5 beats at all the effort barbie put in, as well as the fact that barbie gives her the biggest hug and sweeps her off her feet while telling her how proud she is of her, with the biggest smile on her face and her eyes so bright and sparkly and glossy and ohmygoddddd

barbie definitely being a beer or whisky girl

like beer at home but whisky when they go out to the town’s pool hall

gloria being really good at pool and barbie being like hell yeah that’s my city girl!!!

the townspeople referring to barbie as “your cowboy” when speaking to gloria

gloria blushing hard asf and being like “oh no, we’re not—”

barbie butting in at that exact moment from across the pool hall like “gloria look!!” while doing some stupid stunt with ken, all in the name of impressing gloria

barbie loving the farm animals more than anything and always finding the time to care for them

gloria noticing this and thinking it’s the cutest thing

gloria also noticing a large scar barbie has, running from the line of her abdomen around her side; she doesn’t bring it up though

they dance around each other for the longest time omggg, mainly because gloria thinks barbie is so irresistibly charismatic and appealing that she has tons of people lining up for a chance with her, and gloria has no shot

meanwhile barbie thinks gloria is the most talented and wonderful person she’s ever met, but she believes gloria’s ambitions and how far she will go in life is way bigger and greater than what barbie could offer her right now

they’re so stupid

they never say it out loud (how into each other they are) but at the same time they never pursue anyone else and they do things that are unmistakably more than just friendly

plus everyone can see their chemistry and attraction & it’s so obvious

Dumb Character Headcanons: Champion Cynthia

I am having brainrot over the queen of sinnoh ok. I love her and her crazy family so much-! I apologize for how random some of these are-some of them I got inspiration from popular ones from, some from AUs i've seen and some I just made up on the fly-Ok, enough rambling-on with the show!

- TOTAL. MOMMA. BEAR. She just-has very motherly, protective vibes and despite being one of the most generally considered TERRIFYING CHARACTERS IN THE SERIES (and I'm mildly scared of her too!) she'd probably take you out for ice cream after battling her to celebrate a job well done, win or lose.

- Speaking of ice cream, I think this is not only a popular hc i agree with but they made it CANON In the anime that she cannot, for the life of her, decide what flavor she wants and will just stand there for 15 minutes weighing all the pros and cons and unintentionally holding up the line. I mean she'll move when she realizes and apologize PROFUSELY but still- ...But would YOU tell her to hurry up and choose?? No, I don't think so.

- Her hair is usually either down most of the time or tied up in a bun. But only for when she needs it-she doesn't care how messy it gets, she just likes being wild I suppose. Sometimes you'll find her literally wrestling one of her pokemon for fun (usually Garchomp) and her hair will be full of leaves and sticks, and not a care in the world! One of her family taught her how to tie her hair back in a bun, and though she adores them-she was quite the pain to get to stand still long enough to even TRY as a child.

- You wouldn't think it, with how classy she is-...buuuuuut she was almost a leash kid. You think she gets this intimidation factor just from being so classy and dramatic alone? No, she can be fucking FERAL when she wants to be. Sometimes the Sinnoh League will have trouble finding her to get her to report to her champion duties as she's gotten distracted and wandered off to explore some ruins somewhere in the region and never told anyone where she was going.

- She used to and still can climb trees in seconds if left unattended. This has lead to many a heart-attack for her grandmother, watching her little baby Cynthia nearly DIE falling out of said tree, only to be completely unharmed and even LAUGHING at the experience.

- Actually is a REALLY big fan of the wrestling/battle royale circuit. She can and will burst out singing some of the intros at the top of her lungs, much to the shock of ANYONE in the room with her.

- She also happy dances and likes to put on music when she works. She loves piano but even she can't resist a good earworm, humming along to it as she runs around the local library or (reluctantly) winds up cooped up inside doing or cleaning up paperwork. This is implied to be canon in a spinoff game (Pokemon Masters EX if you're curious) and I totally agree that she just-cannot be bothered to clean up her office and it's almost CONSTANTLY a mess because she keeps getting distracted by new things to look at or something she hadn't seen in ages (BECAUSE of the mess) like a book and just winds up reading it all day. It's a vicious cycle!

- The reason she loves piano so much is she actually knows how to play, and is VERY Good at it! A very dear member of her family taught her when she was very young and she plays to help remember him-wherever the hell he's wandered off to now. Music connects us just as much as pokemon do, in her mind-so whenever she plays, he's right beside her again-whether physically or not.

- She has inherited the family 'way too fucking tall' gene and that does NOT help her intimidating appearance sometimes.

- Sometimes casually speaks fluent Latin/Greek just to confuse the shit outta people. Look, she isn't usually spiteful-but even the most graceful and kind people have their limits. The same person who taught her piano taught her it-probably for that express purpose. Also several swear words. (thankfully if she ever swears, it's in said language so hardly anyone will know-)

- She grew up feeling-quite isolated from others her age because of her intense focus on studying history and battling competitively. Mostly the history thing-the battling thing probably didn't help as most kids were likely TERRIFIED of how intense she got. But-...i think that's why she loved that member of her family so much. Finally, someone who understood her...! He'd even given her the egg that would hatch into her Garchomp. (It was SUPPOSED to be a togepi, that wouldn't cause much hassle aside from the occasional accident with metronome-...but NOOOOOO, he decided to let her cause havoc. Her grandma nearly smacked him.)

- Honestly if you told her you were a demon or some supernatural shit she'd probably be more fascinated and barrage you with questions than scared. Or kick ass if you were hostile-DO. NOT. FUCK. WITH THE CHAMPION OF SINNOH.

- She may or may not be guilty of spoiling hers and other people's Pokémon with treats. She can't help it! She has a WEAKNESS for puppy dog eyes, whether it be her own Pokémon, any she's babysitting (she feels like someone who would do that if asked) Or young trainers she's taken a shine to.

- Wound up with a heavy ass, GIGANTIC hand-me-down backpack from who-knows how many generations ago and yes, she CAN lug it around with ease. She doesn't much for her league job, but it's her go-to when it comes to adventuring or exploring. - Speaking of the backpack-she often carries her spiritomb outside of its pokeball inside while in particularly rough areas, usually hiding inside its keystone. You never know if you'll need a pokemon for backup and don't have time to reach for one of your pokeball before things get dicey, after all-and the sight of a very angry ghost and dark type pokemon erupting from an ancient backpack is more than enough to send anyone who would likely cause trouble PACKING-looking almost as if something is being summoned right behind her! (She doesn't know why she looks so terrifying that way, but at least it means no one will cause too much trouble)

- An absolute GIRLBOSS for sure-but also very, very soft when it comes to people she loves. She'll gush and gush about her family members-especially younger ones, or trainers she's mentally adopted (and she does this a lot.) as her own 'pack', so to speak. She'll try to tone it down if it makes them uncomfortable but it's so HARD-she feels so blessed to have people who love her for who she is, as strange and beautiful and intimidating and just a little bit odd as she can be that she just HAS to spread word about how amazing they are! (She's like one of those moms who shows off photos of her kids all the time, just not in an annoying way if that makes sense?? At least she tries not to be-but once she starts rambling about them or ANYTHING it is almost impossible to get her to stop!)

- Often makes hand gestures like pointing when she speaks, especially when she gets excited. She often doesn't realize she's doing it half the time-but she always does it when taking pictures. She just-feels like her hands HAVE to be doing something!

- I will not give away the massive spoiler this ties into but she OWNS the song Blood Right by Madame Macabre. JUST-IF YOU DONT WANT SPOILERS FOR LEGENDS ARCEUS, JUST-BE PREPARED YOU'RE IN FOR A RIDE!

Shhdhchs EXCELLENT bc ive had a lot of thoughts but this quarter + anxiety in general has been killin me

-Okay so I'm still hyperfixated on Destiny 2 bc of a DnDestiny game I'm in, but since Hollow Knight is a special interest and I read a couple of frankly stunning crossover fics (one with the Inheritance Cycle, one with Transformers, both are outstanding and I will recc them wholeheartedly if you ask- the TF one especially blew my tits clean off which is saying something bc I have zero TF knowledge, also its 500k words but I'm rambling), my brain has been essentially locked into the concept of a crossover AU where a couple of my D2 OCs get slingshot into the HK world via a fucked-up warpgate through wish-dragon magic, and it's now got me kind of obsessed with the idea of the world of Hollow Knight taking place on an alien planet that had some convergent evolution re: general insect body plans, but went off the fuckin' rails with everything else. So here's some worldbuilding thoughts on that:

-Their planet would be far from Earth and the origin place of the Ahamkara and precursor race to the Worm Gods, who are distant relatives to each other that took to the stars to opportunistically feed off of rifts in reality. They are in turn sister taxa to the Wyrms and Higher Beings from Hollow Knight, who also feed off of the wants, desires, and gulf between what-is-desired-and-what-is-true, but unlike the worms and wish-dragons, the Higher Beings are essentially 'settled' species. They're the farming civilization to the hunter-gatherers of their Destiny-based kindred, and yes, both branches of the family tree fucking despise each other and look down scornfully on the other's lifestyle. The Higher Beings view the Worms and Ahamkara as little more than scavengers, while the Worms and Ahamkara see the Higher Beings as glorified slavedrivers with sticks up their asses- though it should be noted that since the Ahamkara's whole deal so far has been malignant trickery as a hunting style, this doesn't neccessarily carry the same negative connotations that it would in our society. I also don't know enough about the proto-Worms to say how their race would react, but the Worm Gods as they are now certainly are something that Wyrms would look down on

-(Yes that means I have thought extensively about the Pale King's ghost bristling aggressively at a baby ahamkara barely a few hours old. In my defense, it's funny, and also I almost never remember to write him as the cold, prickly, arrogant ass that he is bc his kids make him Big Sad)

-The planet would likely be smaller than Earth with lighter gravity, though how much smaller I can't say because I'm not a fuckin' physicist. I just want an excuse for making fuckoff-huge animals a thing even beyond the inherent space magic thing going on

-Oh, and most life is underground because the atmosphere is thinner than Earth and so the upper surface gets bombarded with deadly amounts of radiation, which causes the mind-wiping effects of the Wastes (where the angle towards their sun is the greatest and thus the strongest). Ngl I did briefly think about potential magnetic field fluxes also being the cause of that effect but like, I cannot overstate how little I know of things outside biology

-HK being set on an alien planet lets me do wack shit with the species there too bc I'm no longer bound by comparing them to Earthbound species. For example, I can make Quirrel an isopod with cricket legs. Who's going to stop me, God? He doesn't exist here

-That also means I can stop being bothered by Herrah's dubious leg placement bc it would kill me forever otherwise

-Also, them being on an alien planet gives me even more of an excuse to never put traditional vertebrate species in there, which is great. I've said it before, but putting Earth vertebrates in the HK setting totally ruins all the fun for me because I love the concept of all the species diversity being made up of invertebrates, and that the 'advanced' bugs we see have filled the niche that vertebrates would have otherwise taken over. Like the carboniferous period but on steroids

General HK thoughts too:

-been toying with the idea of wyrms having a set of evertable inner jaws like polychaete worms, which would be used for keeping dirt out of the mouth and biting off chunks to eat, while the outer jaws (the ones we see) are used for killing, digging, and sparring with other wyrms. The idea is that the outer ring of mandibles bites big circular chunks out of the substrate, which then breaks off into tiny pieces they filter out in between gaps in their mandibles and pack down into tunnel walls as they move forward

-I've also been toying with the idea of them secreting some kind of mucus as they dig that's almost a calcifying substance, but now that I think about it, I can probs just put those glands in their frontal mouth so if they need to reinforce a tunnel (like, say, one burrowed in sand instead of rock), they can mix their saliva in with the substrate to chemically solidify the tunnel walls

-Which btw is a major thing for ecosystems bc the tunnels are used for lots of different things by lots of different species. Wyrms are terraformers baybee!! Kinda the same way wildfires are, but still

-I've also been thinking about maybe making it so that the row of plates I like to draw on their backs act as a secondary pair of belly scutes, which means that wyrms can slither just as easily upside down as they can on their undersides, which helps underground. It's not as efficient as the super-smooth scales on a blind snake, but that's the tradeoff they get for needing to be so heavily armoured

-I'm also leaning towards making marine/freshwater variants that are just straight-up bobbit worms on even more steroids, but since I already have fuckoff huge marine alien bobbit worms in a scifi setting of mine, I'd need to figure out a way to make them unique

-I learned that there's internalized folds of exoskeleton for muscle attatchment in my invertebrate biology course and got really excited about that being a potential basis for the formation of skeletal elements in the world of Hollow Knight- like, maybe bug bones started off as those lil folds (i forgot their technical name which is embaressing bc i literally just took the final this night) becoming stronger and deeper-set into the body to better support the weight of larger and larger bugs, and then it spiraled into a skeleton analogue from there. Being derived from the exoskeleton probably means that it would be less strong than our bones, but it would likely also be lighter

Misc:

-God I really need to write Hornet in Silksong so bad. Fuck. I need need need to write this mildly autistic unsocialized princess running amok in a civilization that isn't ready for her. Also my interpretation of Lace is basically an oc at this point but I don't want to do anything with her just yet bc that shits a lot of work, I just need to write everything down for her so far (and tbh Lurien probs also counts at this point but thats more filling a niche that TC left unfufilled)

-I've also got gijinka thoughts in that I'm leaning towards making Lurien a trans guy who didn't have any gender-affirming surgeries bc a.) I love love love making a variety of trans characters and b.) Hallownest isn't a society where the concept of being transgender is an issue, so there's no need to do it to pass, only to prioritize your own comfort. And since Lurien never expected to be seen in anything but his formalware, he never saw the point of bothering

-(The aformentioned point also applies to normal bug Lurien but this is more of a personal thing here)

-Need to focus more on how the latent magic of the god of a realm changes your eye colour, with the more intense the shade = the more involved you are with their magic. Using Lurien as an example again: his eyes were brown naturally, but after he became Watcher, they slowly shifted to shades of paler and paler blue. I also like the idea of Quirrel's eyes getting more blue the more memories of Hallownest he unlocks, until they're the same shade as the Blue Lake in his final scene

-This can also happen in reverse; for example, my Lace gijinka starts off with gold eyes to signify the church of Pharloom's hold over her, but then slowly revert back to brown as Hornet gives her more and more hope that the institution can be toppled, until they're eventually their natural deep brown with just the faintest flecks of silver in them (signifying Hornet's importance in her life)

-It just occurred to me the other day when I was at work that Striga and Morgana from Castlevania S3 are almost exactly how I imagined my Vespa and Herrah gijinkas to be and now I can't stop thinking about it. The main difference is that my Herrah is a fat spider-orc with tats and Vespa is a fae queen with bee features shimmering through her human veil, but still. Its uncanny

Have a collection of random headcanons I’ve been collecting for a while :)

Sam

- He flat out refuses to drive any small car

- I feel like he owns a cowboy hat (like he inherited it from a family member or something) but he never wears it cause he’s just not a hat kinda guy

- He genuinely believes he dresses well

Vincent

- He has this fun little game where he tries to get into college house parties without anyone realising (and he’s usually successful since he still looks really young and can talk his way into anything)

- He definitely make those hand thirst trap pics (y’know the photos of men gripping their steering wheel with waaayy too many rings on, yeah those)

- He doesn’t wanna admit that he loves bats cause he doesn’t wanna feed into the vamp stereotype but he thinks they’re adorable (he probably saved one once and absolutely fell in love with it)

David

- Is absolutely scared shitless by horror movies (he’d take extra caution when locking the house the night after watching one, checking the doors like 5 times)

- If/when he and Angel get married, he would wear his ring on a chain rather than on his finger

- His favourite animal is a bunny rabbit (he begs freelancer to get one on a weekly basis but the closest they’ve given him to a bunny is a plushie one (which he loves dearly but it’s still not a really rabbit))

- Has seen every Studio Ghibli movie

- He has blankets and plushies for his clients to cuddle during his sessions

- He always looks tired (in a relaxed kinda way)

OKAY SO ABOUT THAT HEADCANON, I also want to actually write it into a fic but here's the main gist (@elitadream @scribeprotra this might interest you):

In my general headcanon, kings and queens of the magic world usually hold the strongest magic of their kingdom, even if they don't always use it; sometimes it's active, and sometimes it's "passive" (meaning they have a huge potential as recipient of magic, like Bowser being turned into GIGANTIC things by other's magic or Peach's Sprite powers).

In some games Peach's "active" powers involving telepathy and sleep-inducing, as well as healing; in general, relying a lot on empathy and soothing, and a theme of hearts. As the princess of a fungal people, connection and empathy are essential qualities.

I also think she holds herself back a LOT.

In my headcanon, her heart power allows her to "learn" about someone's emotions, but also to "change" them to heal...or for other purpose.

Mind-control. Hypnosis. Affecting one's perception of reality. Leading them to believe what she desires. Playing with their wishes. You can imagine how far this could go.

As her power is inherited, there is documentation about her ancestors' powers and how they used them; as a kid, when she learned about some of them, she was horrified and took that oath of never using her powers to affect an enemy's mind. As she grew up, she held to that oath, especially after facing enemies who would use possession and brainwashing for their evil deeds. She would never stoop to their level.

And then. Something happened with Mario.

He's a hero, he's brave, he's resilient...and deep down, that pressure is slowly tearing him apart. The more he saves the kingdom, the more everyone looks up to him, to the point he's terrified of failing, of making mistakes. Sometimes he wishes he could forget about all of it, that he could let that burden go and have someone else take absolute control.

At some point Peach noticed his ill-being and gently but firmly confronted him about it. When she realized he needed to hand over that control, and after some error and trial...they experienced.

Mario trusted her. Absolutely, without any hesitation. So Peach was extremely careful when she finally started using these powers after so long, and only in specific occasions.

But she would lead him to relax, to fall asleep; then she would weave a spell, clouding his mind, leading him to wake up with his senses fooled, his brain guided in a different direction than usual. Crafting scenarios (discussed beforehand, always) in which he is helpless yet enjoys it; making him believe he's a simple animal like a cat; making him forget, for some hours, about his role and his responsibilities.

Sometimes innocently...sometimes not so much >:>c

They both gain from it. Mario gets these breaks, these breathers. Peach slowly gains control of something she's always been afraid to use, but here she has control and most of all, she has the trust of her dear friend and lover. Both share this strange, enticing secret and find pleasure in these private moments.

So we all know the Hawthorne brothers are all fine as heck Texan born-and-raised gentlemen which means other than the fancy schmancy stuff they do throughout the series, they probably know how to ride. And I don’t mean English riding, I mean down and dirty in the dusty sand, bucking bronco Western riding. Given that ole Tobias Hawthorne was loaded, not only did he make riding lessons an essential for his grandsons but he also owned a big-ass stable on his property. I know it’s never mentioned in the books, only that Vincent Blake owns a ranch, but you can’t convince me otherwise that this Texan billionaire didn’t have his own stable on the property. No chance, no way; I think he’d be considered a fraud if he didn’t. Anyways, when the boys were comfortable in the saddle and more skilled with controlling their horses and riding, only then did their grandfather start making them choose specialties. As they got older, they took part in rodeos and competitions, producing another bout of trophies for the old man to put up in his office. Like always, the boys proved Hawthornes came and conquered, being the best of the best.

Nash-Of course, this man’s the best of the bunch. He is the most experienced and rather well rounded in all disciplines. It’s part of what lets him live his cowboy fantasies but he does have practical use for what he learned. His grandfather has many prized cattle breeds, mostly the famous Texas Longhorns along with Ankole-Watusi, American Brahman, and even water buffalo (Hawthorne cheese is where it’s at) so he often leads the cattle roundups and if he ain’t a sight to see when he’s roping up stray calves (those muscles though; I see you Nash). As said earlier, he’s pretty good at everything in this style of riding but competitively, he’s mostly into western pleasure yet also enjoys reining just about as much. His Appaloosa-Quarter Horse mare, Chili Pepper (yes, named by the one and only Xander and no, it’s not because of Horseland; if you know, you know) excels at these and is a bit of a showoff (Nash is pretty sure the feisty thing is self-aware whenever she prances sassily around the ring after a win). But, for them, that’s easy stuff, light work, and Nash likes a bit of an adrenaline rush now and then so on the more energetic side of things, his favorite event is cowboy mounted shooting. In practice, he’d sometimes sneak out one of his grandfather’s Winchester rifles to get a kick out of it (lowkey this boy always tried finding small ways of rebelling against his grandfather’s wishes). However, when he was 19, he quit the rodeo shows and big competitions in another effort to show the old man he didn’t have control over him and that actions spoke louder than words. Nowadays, Nash does mostly local events for the fun of it but has attended some major ones in the last few years, twice at the State Fair and once at the Calgary Stampede; Xander and Jameson even went with him in a show of support.

Grayson-Though he prefers English riding and excels in classic dressage, his Western specialty is cutting and his Arabian stallion, Onyx (known as Bandit Noir in the show ring) is a nightmare for the calves when he starts switching sides at lightning speed with his front legs. Sometimes he gets so excited after Gray has singled out a calf that he starts zipping towards it in a zigzag motion that Grayson has to restrain him a bit so that he doesn’t go overboard. When he was younger, he trained him to do this move after he watched a documentary showing gazelles use this technique as an evasive maneuver to escape cheetahs and thought it was a cool trick. He perfected it in two months flat. His Shagya Arabian mare, Moonlight, is more calm but her focus is unmatched when she’s cutting and she’s also his chosen horse for working equitation. Grayson was the one who inspired Xander to also learn this discipline and they would do training sessions together; he also let his youngest brother ride Moonlight in competition at times. Surprisingly, he also did barrel racing alongside Jameson and of course, these two got very competitive over this sport. They set several records at competitions and even a few national records at rodeo events but Jameson had more in the end.

Jameson-Barrel racing, need I say more? It’s his favorite event and discipline of choice. The faster his horse goes, the better the thrill and the dizziness to go along with it. His Nokota stallion, Rhubarb, is the speediest barrel racer of the Hawthorne horses and proudly bred by his grandfather. For fun, he would get more barrels and see how fast he could go bareback and one time the crazy boy decided it would be a good idea to ride backwards while his steed ran the course. Of all the brothers, Jamie’s the one who loves the riskier events (because of course, not that that’s surprising) including saddle and bareback bronc riding, calf-roping, steer wrestling, even bull riding (steer riding until he was 14). But he’s also the one who has the most bruises and scars from Western events. He was banned from doing bull riding after Nan attended two of his competitions and both times the rider before him had a nasty fall, ending up in hospital. Jameson may have never fallen in the most major competitions but he did have some close calls with being almost run over and even suffered a bad kick to the ribs during one of his practice runs. Although the old woman is weathered from her rough years and is still a badass, she still cares for her great grandsons very much and hates to see them get hurt. So as reluctant as he was to leave the sport, for his Nan, he did. Occasionally he also participated in team roping with Nash, always taking up the heeler position while his brother handled the horns because Nash didn’t want him to get hurt until he got older and insisted on trying the header part for himself. He got used to it quickly from all the times he watched Nash during practice seshes but his oldest brother always watched off to the side with pursed lips knowing his risky behavior. They were three time champions in a row from 2016-2018 with one time him being header. Being the adrenaline junkie he is, it’s no shock that he loves doing stuff at breakneck speeds and other than barrel racing, he is amazing at pole bending. Jameson enjoys a good test of agility and has a great Mustang-American Paint mixed mare named Misty who whizzes by the poles so quickly that everyone in the stands is always quoted saying they blinked and missed the entire round.

Xander-He was a bit more reluctant to even start out any events but Nash and Grayson coaxed him into them and eventually he got settled quite quickly into trail class, working cow horse, mounted drill with Jameson and Grayson, and versatility ranch riding. He dabbled in western dressage but got annoyed with it because he never felt synchronized enough with his horse and his trainer got frustrated with him many times. Trail class ended up being his major and he trained with two Quarter Horses that were bred by his grandfather, Rona and Rolo (nicknamed Roly Poly). He would switch between the two and both were extremely good at delivering but Rona, his mare was ultimately better equipped and motivated while his gelding, the mare’s full blooded younger brother served better in mounted drill. Xander conducted experiments to see as to why but it seemed like the gelding thought the routines were simpler to learn and always finished with a happy buck when they finished. But as he got older and hit his growth spurt, Xan felt like his height was becoming a negative factor to riding anymore of his horses in competitions so he stopped. His grandfather offered to buy him a ready, trained horse better suited to his stature so he could continue but Xander declined since he didn’t want to restart with training and he was awfully attached to Rona and Rolo. Instead, he continued competing but in halter and western showmanship classes where his horses shined just as brightly with shiny ribbons often being pinned to his horses’ halters as a prize.

My phone girl headcanons

I have been wanting to do this for a while, but university took all my motivation to do so.

She is 21.

Her favorite color is red, but she also likes gold and rose gold (idk why really).

She is an animal lover and has a dog (she found him as a puppy in the street).

She likes books and has several book boyfriends (jacks is one of them of course).

She studies something like journalism or english literature (I imagine her writing a book about the herondales and riddles, like she was the one who wrote the inheritance games).

She is a spring and autumm girl.

She has a sweet tooth, and likes cake and scones (she and Xander are going to bond over that).

She likes red roses and daisies.

She likes dressing up (I wanted to make this a difference with Avery because she didn't like clothes at first).

Her hair is dark and long, her look is messy hair.

She either has no sibling or is the older sister of a child.

She looks mean, but she is really nice and caring.

She was in a long term relationship that left some scars in her.

I feel like she would also be sort of a perfectionist and people pleaser, and maybr that would be part of her character growth during the books.

She is smart (an academic validation sort of thing)

I don't really know about family, but in the book she mentioned smth about a step father.

Maybe she plays an instrument like piano or smth

These are all the ones I came up for now. What do you guys think? Btw I think she would be pretty similar to Grayson in terms of family and duty, and blah blah, blah, but different personality wise.

If Theo and Lily had kids what type of parents would they be? How many kids? Names? Animal spirits?

(Casey the gay uncle but other than him RJ, Camille, Fran and Dom aren’t allowed to babysit after the pizza incident…..Jarrod is allowed to though😂)

I feel like Lily would pamper the shit out of the kids. Theo would be the typical dad DAD, the “stays at home in his undershirt, reading newspaper” type that runs after the kids yelling “DISCIPLINE!!”

The kids take him seriously, initially, but as they approach the teenage, ALL of them (I think they’ll have three—) realise that “mama is 10000000x more scarier than papa” so that means riling Theo up is FUN, as long as mom doesn’t find out.

Lily takes care of the kids, single-handedly manages the entire discipline game, they take turns doing the chores, and whenever it’s Theo’s turn to cook, the kids are groaning and making faces because they know he’s going to serve up broccoli or some healthy shit— Lily makes good GOOD food, that’s even healthy, but also makes the kids eat the broccolis and horrid tasteless “healthy” things that Theo makes.

Names for the kids— I don’t have any particular ones, but I’m thinking they come on an agreement. I headcanon that Theo is Korean— so one of the kids has a traditional Korean name, one has an English name, and the third one— which was quite frankly, an accidental child— gets a name mixed from both languages. (Does this make sense??)

For animal spirits, I’m thinking that all kids have similar cat-genus spirits. They’re not exactly like their parents— Lily and Theo were fighting initially that “no, my kid will inherit mine,” “NO MINE” until the kids ACTUALLY started showing the spirits. The first one, boy, had the spirit of a CAT. like a typical housecat. Theo is disappointed, Lily is overjoyed. The next one, girl, has one of a lynx, Theo likes it, but not that much. The third one, has the spirit of a puma, and Theo’s THRILLED. Lily not so much, because the third kid WRECKS HAVOC with that spirit bahahaha—

…and I’d like details of the Pizza incident… as I’m sure, would the police—

For the unusual headcanons ask game.

Ok well I could talk way too long about the first one. So I’ll just jot down the first five things that come to mind and call it good. Let’s see…

🐅- Characterization: character habits, personality, etc.

He has learned to show a quiet confidence in most situations because of his role, but he has a good bit of self-doubt under the surface. (Stemming from inheriting leadership of his clan before he was of age, doubting whether Esrid would have chosen him ever if it hadn’t been from necessity, questioning many of his own decisions as chieftain, etc)

He was horrible at bedtimes with both kids because they knew he could be sidetracked by questions and end up half an hour into another story before realizing it. What the boys didn’t realize is that he actually loved this and had no problem being “tricked” into more stories.

Sarcastic/wry sense of humor

Very loyal. Would rather be working in support of someone he respects/cares about than be the person others look to. He did well as a leader, but it was a constant struggle for him and left him regularly exhausted.

Esrid was absolutely the driving force of that relationship and he had zero complaints about this. On the contrary 😏

Bonus: he loves animals. So much.

🗡️ - fighting styles/combat

His people fight primarily with spears and a large knife/short sword similar to a Saxon seax. Over the course of his time in Nargothrond, Finrod teaches him some Elven techniques, especially with a longer sword, but he mever really masters these and is most comfortable falling back on a spear. (I am not great at battle stuff, so sorry this answer is rather vague! 😂)

Zoroark!N Premise

I’m not sure when I’ll cave and eventually make an art piece for this AU concept because despite how much Zoroark!N is a behated concept for me, I have thought about how I would deal with an AU where N is actually a Zoroark. I see it enough that while I may not like the idea, I can’t help but consider it. It would still be IsshuShipping endgame, of course. Since a small part of my issue with the idea (my true issue with it is how it undermines the overarching concept of N as a character if he’s secretly a Pokemon all along) is how I’ve noticed people often use it as a reason to not pair N with the BW Protag. Which we respect all ships here, but if one must run a Zoroark!N plotline, I don’t see why that means he can’t still get with the BW Protag.

So anyway, the point of this post. While I’m holding back every time the AU prompt comes up for fankid week from actually drawing it, I’ve thought about what that would mean for the fankids. If N was actually a Zoroark. I’ve never implemented this for any ship in this verse…but I do run with the idea that humans are technically a type of Pokemon in a vague sense. It’s actually the anime that supported this idea for me. A combo of how humans can be hit with Pokemon attacks and not take a lot of damage. And then that one extremely damning episode where there’s that ancient Pokeball that is able to capture Team Rocket. The Sinnoh books in the games, if one takes the original translation about humans marrying Pokemon way back, just add further fuel. So okay. Given all this. It would technically be possible for Pokemon to breed with humans. I’m just not about that life so I’ve held myself back from ever using this concept for this verse (I’d be lying if I said I’ve never thought about the implications though).

But if N was actually a Zoroark? You better believe that would not hold me back from him having children with Hilbert. But much like how Pokemon are the same species as the mother Pokemon, regardless of the type of Pokemon the father is, this would hold true for a hypothetical human/Pokemon couple. If mom is the human, kid is a human. If mom is the Pokemon, the kid is whatever type of Pokemon the Pokemon is. Thus any children N and Hilbert would have would be human since Hilbert is the mom (as he’s the omega in this omegaverse AU). Might get some “egg moves” so to speak from N so they have odd abilities of some kind. Probably can talk to Pokemon (I’ve hypothesized before this is why human!N can talk to Pokemon. Has a Pokemon in his family tree somewhere). The most all of this would change (since no reason to change up the kids just cause N is a Zoroark) would be Arian and Braith wouldn’t have green hair. I guess their hair would be black? Or some combo of black and red since both inherit their hair color from N. Clover is largely unchanged just has dark green Zoroark eyes.

Like I’m sure I will def cave one day and draw this since I’ve thought about all of this way too much despite not being a fan of Zoroark!N. Like there’s def an AU that lives in my head that follows this idea. But yes, some IsshuShipping thoughts on if N was secretly a Zoroark all along. He’s still getting with Hilbert, they’re my fav ship so nothing is holding me back.

As a side note, if you’re a Zoroark!N fan, no shade intended! Everyone can headcanon what they want, we’re all just having fun here. Just ain’t for me despite that being what this post is about.
