Lyney! (125)
"Good night. If you have trouble falling asleep, I have a few little props used for hypnosis that might help... or Maybe not. Either way, sweet dreams!"
Lyney's gentle smile after his comedic suggestion helps you feel at ease. He comes up with something different every night- you really don't know how he hasn't run out of magic-related-sleep-remedies yet.
He often goes to bed after you. Whether he's up practising some magic for his next show or doing some work for Father in the veil of the night doesn't matter to you. As long as you awake to find him there, unharmed, you can manage falling asleep with out him.
But, on the rare occaision he goes to bed at the same time as you, sharing in your night-time routine and holding your hand under the covers, the two of you can stay up for hours talking about anything, everything and nothing.
Freminet (156)
"You go ahead, I'm gonna stay up and read for a while. Hmm? What am I reading? It's, um... It's about diving. There's a bunch of skills I need to... Anyway, night!"
It's not uncommon for Freminet to read before bed. If you're lucky, he may even read with you next to him, allowing you to read along, always checking to make sure you've finished the page before turning.
Althought every night he says he's reading about diving, or marine life, or automechs, you've learned to pick up on the slight rouge of his cheeks, and the stutter that becomes a little more apparent when he lies about what he's reading. It's on these nights you know he's reading about Pers, and it's on these nights you know to leave him be.
Whether he chooses to sleep with you- in the same bed or the same room or the same house- you know not to betray that trust. And for as long as you respect him and his boundaries, he will be grateful.
Sometimes, in the night, you think you feel yourself awake to a faint 'thank you',
Kazuha (194)
"The wind has ceased... The world is silent, so now is the best time to rest well. See you tomorrow."
Kazuha often doesn't join you during the night, whether you are choosing to sleep or stay up. He opts to sit in the crows nest of the crux, listening to the silence of the night. He'll swear that from up there, it appears as if the world itself has gone to sleep with the night- the sea acts as a blanket for the life below, the stars and moon a night light for the trees and the sand and the surf, the clouds casting a shadow of calm upon the land.
Kazuha spends his nights writing about what he sees, and when you awake you find a poem written in his hand about how the beauty of the night reminds him of you.
On the nights when the land is not calm with dreams, but instead enraged with nightmares, he will sit with you in your cabin, and chat about the day gone by. Despite the conditions outside your walls, you sleep best on those nights. The nights where you awake to find you had both fallen asleep with smiles on your faces, after long conversations that drift into the night on lovesick clouds.
Venti
"Off to the land of nod? Haha, farewell, my friend!" (318)
You loath the nights where Venti bids you goodnight without joining you. You can tell by looking at the way he looks everywhere but you, by the way he laughs- hollow and false, so unlike his usual mellodic, spring filled chuckles- and you can tell by the way he says "friend", that he'll be spending his night alone in the hands of his statue, or at Windrise, or at Stormterrors lair. You know he'll be contemplating the centuries of his past.
He'll sit in his own hands, because they're not really his hands, but the hands of his first companion; and by doing so he can feel that maybe the memory of that unnamed bard who he held so dear is not truly forgotten by his people- after all, they built a statue of him, even if they did it unknowingly. He'll gaze at the bark and the leaves of the tree at Windrise, and recall how he let Mondstadt fall into the hands of couption and tyranny due to his negligance the first time around. He'll gaze upon the ruin's of Stormterro's lair- of Old Mondstadt- and replay the events from thousands of years ago, when he was just too weak, too slow, too powerless to save the first being to make him feel something.
You know you should leave him alone. Let him sort through his mind and his memories. But you also know that his mind plays the nastiest, cruelist of tricks on him- dragging him down with nightmares and jabs of "what if's" and "why's".
So when he turns to retreat into the neverending chasm of his mind, you reach out and grab his hand. You follow him into the chasm, and help brighten the darkness with the light of your presence.
Venti is reluctant to admit it- but he will.
'The monsters of my mind seem a little less scary with you here.'
Cyno
"Goodnight. Now, there's some criminal activity nearby that I'll go deal with."
You can't help but worry about Cyno when he says he's going out late to deal with something like this. You know as the General Mahamatra he has various responsibilities he must uphold. But when you're alone at night, your thoughts wander, and you ponder more on his situation.
You wonder, if his father hadn't suffered such a fate, would Cyno still be doing such dangerous jobs as a Matra? Or would he be a regular Spantamad scholar of the Akademiya? If he hadn't been pushed into this position, would he be lying with you now, drifting to a dreamless sleep with you, and not risking his life without recognition- or at least not the recognition he deserves.
You know it's not your place to think these things. Cyno is happy with his job, happy to follow after his Father, regardless of what things are said about him.
You quash your fears and your thoughts when you hear him return. He never left you for long. You knew he would always return to you. And he had every intention of doing so as long as the need remained.
Childe (182)
"Today was great. See you tomorrow, comrade!"
You always chuckled at his Ajax's tendancy to call everyone comrade. You teased him about it whenever it happened, and he always laughs with you and exclaims 'it's just habit!'
You know Ajax is busy, and he'd have less work during the day if he worked through the night. But he always insists on going to bed with you.
He created a bed-time-skin-care routine for you both- courtesy of him buying all the products. He puts is hair in a headband and follows the usual plan to a T.
When it's time to sleep, he smiles warmly at you. You pretend not to see the sadness in his eyes. He pretends it isn't there too.
So, for as long as the shadows of night will hide the pair of you, you'll bask in each others warmth, and soak up the laughter and the kisses you share.
And when the morning comes, as Ajax leaves to do jobs you never speak of, you will both eagerly await the fall of the sky's curtains, so you can forget the worries of reality once again.

CURTAIN CALL / lyney.
꒰ summary. ꒱ what is a magician if not adept at deceit? ꒰ cw. ꒱ implied major character death, death penalty, panic.
Tumblr media
lyney’s hands fiddle with the cards in his grasp. he presses on the corner with his thumb and it flips over, between his fingers, back again. with vacant eyes staring straight through his movements, he does this over, and over, and over.
the clock ticks. lyney dreads when he’ll next hear its chime.
he sits. he waits. his beloved cards do not bend, do not break, under the unrelenting pressure he places them under. they simply continue switching fingers and hands, predictable, steady, like one of the many cogs in a machine. lyney’s mind follows suit. over, and over, and over again. the day goes on as normal. the day is normal.
“. . . the death penalty.”
when he had heard these words, the dam did not break. now, in the desolate backstage where he sits, alone, illuminated by dim, mocking spotlights, it all floods him at once. the thoughts pour in like a deluge; like the primordial sea rushing past the gates at the fortress of meropide; like the fontaine of the future he had desperately been trying to avoid.
when the iudex’s voice had rang true through the courtroom, lyney felt as if his heart would stop just as yours was destined to — but it didn’t. cruel.
he flipped the cards between his fingers again, again, and again. the day was normal. completely normal.
over, and over, and over again, lyney’s gaze had scanned the rest of the audience.
they were on the edge of their seats, as if it was one of his shows and they were pleading for an encore. delighted at the “twist”, as if it was one of his shows and he had just pulled off the trick of the century. clapping, as if it was one of his shows and they were especially pleased with the performance. they gazed at the trial as if it was a play, a scene wherein an actor’s hand was on another’s cheek, their hands hitting together in a resounding clap, the other acting as if they were hurt. excited, as if this matter of life and death was no more than a stage slap.
it made him sick.
his eyes rested on you, high above the audience, out of reach, the traveler beside you. you were just as calm as he appeared.
that made him feel even worse.
yet, never did he show it.
his hands began to shake. his breath catches in his throat. just as they had not then, his eyes widened, pupils dilating, distant and gaze shaking. he stares past his hands, unfocused, vision muddled and swimming. he did not stand, for he feared his limbs would fail him.
he feels “father”’s presence. behind him, before him, looming, dark, inside of him. he feels her gaze, boring into the back of his head, carving a hole in his skull like a bullet. he feels her hands wrapping around his wrists and resting on his shoulders, squeezing until his limbs shake and she could very well have been stabbing him with pins and needles or knives and he wouldn’t know the difference. he flexes his fingers to still their quivering, taking a quick breath in and opening his eyes once more. there are no tears.
the day is completely normal. he has a show at 6:00 pm, sharp. he checks the clock. it is 5:59 pm. you will be in the audience. the day is completely normal.
“lyney,” lynette calls, rounding the corner, “it’s time.”
he steels himself, adjusts his posture, fixes his eyes on the sights ahead. like one of the many tricks he holds so dear, his emotions are there one second and gone the next. he’d like to believe they were never there at all.
when he stands, steps in front of the audience, lyney draws the curtain on his sorrows and the great magician takes the stage in his stead. with a dramatic enough entrance, the pitiful performance of the previous is swiftly forgotten.

Hehe gif is a small reference for something else im wriring for the Fontaine siblings 👀
Nighttime hit Fontaine as businesses began to shut down for the night. Most employees were making their way home, a few people were on the streets hanging out around this time.
“Uhm hello?” Lianna, a Knight from Mondstadt drunkenly walked down the streets of Fontaine alone, bottle in hand. She was here on business and ended up getting drunk at the bar she met her client at. The bar kicked her out for getting too rowdy and dancing on tables.
She mumbles angrily to herself, continuing forward, trying to find an inn to sleep in for the night. The clinking of her heels dragged along the street. She slowly inched her way through the road when the lamps lighting her way suddenly went out, leaving her in darkness.
“Huh?”
She stopped taking in her surroundings. The pitch blackness made it difficult for her to navigate a land that she was unfamiliar with. She went to move again when something strange occurred.
The sound of a music box started to play. Lianna stood confused, trying to get her thoughts together. First, the lights now have some weird music box, if she didn’t know better, she would think this was some stupid prank they played on foreigners.
The music suddenly stopped. Silence and sounds of water from the nearby pier filled the background. Light footsteps walked in her direction, the sound of continuous tapping directly in front of her. She waits with a bated breath for something to happen or the lights to turn on. Seconds turn into minutes as she waits.
A small flame flickers as a Fatuus stood before her with a scythe in hand. That was all Lianna needed before taking the initiative to run away.
She ignored the darkness as she took off running. She ran zig-zag, trying to get the person off her trail. Lianna could hear him right on her tail yelling phrases towards her that she didn’t pay mind to. As she kept turning the corner, she heard the ocean waves growing louder. She pushed forward, going forward down the path, running face first into the waters down below.
Her purser stopped in their tracks, standing close to the edge of the pier. A light flashed into the water directly at her, blinding her momentarily. The Fatui member stares at her, not moving to snatch her up. She is still watching their movements. She waited for him to move before she started swimming towards another pier.
As Lianna exited the ocean, darkness filled her vision.
The Steambird was filled with chatter from the other members. Members ran around trying to collect the newspaper printed.
"Mondstadt woman found dead near the pier nearby."
“A young knight who worked for the Knights of Favonius, came here on business regarding trade between Fontaine and Mondstadt, Officers pronounced her dead around 3 Am this morning.”
"Lianna was apparently found with her neck snapped in an awkward direction. The only evidence the police found of the culprit was some pieces of cat hair around her neck."
"Did you find anything?" Charlotte peeks her head in from around the corner.
"Nothing that we don’t already know." She entered with more documents in hand.
"I heard the streetlights were shut off, probably didn’t want the cameras or possible eyewitnesses seeing them.” Charlotte sat the pile of papers neatly to the side.
"Well, that makes things much harder, doesn't it?" Charlotte lets out a small laugh as she enters the cubicle, papers in hand.
"Boss says, "All of those need to be completed by the end of today." She takes her leave as quickly as she entered your cubicle.
Picking up the documents, you spot the Chief of Justice among your list for interviews. Very helpful, leave it to the court to "have all the answers."
You walk along the streets of Fontaine, sweater in hand. Light music filled the streets as you passed by the shops. Everyone is always working, leaving few people in the streets to leisurely roam during the day. Some restaurants had business lunches, others roaming around quickly to their locations.
The head of the court, the young god Furina and her right hand, Neuvillette judged the guilty. The building was the largest in the city almost similar to the roles that the people residing in them had to the people of Fontaine.
You shook your head trying to relieve yourself from the negative thoughts. It was just an interview with the Judge, nothing bad was going to happen. Entering the court, you signed yourself in and waited to be called.
"Yes how can I help you?" A melusine sitting at the desk glances up in your direction.
"An Interview with the steambird for Monsieur Neuvillette?" The melusine sighs, before walking off in the direction of his office. You remain by the desk waiting for the Melusine to return.
"He has time for you." The Melusine returned pointing out the direction of his office to you. You knock on the door before entering his office.
The Judge's office consisted of various articles spread throughout the wall, with dates circled. Neuvillette himself, sat at the desk writing away on a document. The hydro archon, sat on a chair talking to him as he works away.
"You should have seen the people that danced on their partners feet." She recounts a story of one of her outings to the Judge who listens silently.
"Next time, I'll take you." She continues talking as he seemingly listens in on her. Seeing you, her expression changes back into the arrogant stature she carries.
"It appears that we have a guest."
Seeing no place to sit, you stand awkwardly next to the door waiting for his permission.
“For the interview, correct?” He responds still focused on his work, not sparing you a single glance.
“Uhm yes. I’m Y/N.” The Judge sets aside a document, looking up to meet your gaze. Lady Furina sat up listening to the conversation.
“Let’s begin, what are your questions for me?”
“Fontaine wants to know, what are you doing about the disappearances of the foreigners as of recent?”
“We are doing our best to investigate the situation, Clorinde has taken over the case, I would advise talking to her.”
You put away the notebook, as quick as you pulled this out. This wasn't even five moments into the conversation.
"I understand, thank you for your time." You thank him and take your leave to go find her office.
“Furina can show you.” The young girl who was leaning against his desk shot up.
“Huh?"
“She’s not doing her work; she has time to take you.” He sighs hearing her argue more. He stands pushing her out of the office alongside you.
“If you’ll excuse me.” He locks his door leaving you with the young God.
“Neuvi!” She whined banging on the door to no avail. It remains shut with her locked out. She stood at the door annoyed before turning to you.
“As your dear archon, I will graciously help you out.” Her expression taking one of a soft smile as she guides you to Clorinde's office.
"I see thank you Miss Clorinde." You exit her office leaving the Palais Memonia. You checkt the list of other credible sources that was on your agenda.
Miss Navia
Melusine Guardes
Guardes
Monsieur Neuvillette
Mademoiselle Clorinde
You sigh crossing them off one by one. You decide to go with your best bet which is the Guardes. The Guardes during the time that Lianna was walking that time of night, some had to have been stationed in that area. Looking over the information that Mademoiselle Clorinde gave, it appears that none of the Guardes that she had stationed that night, heard any strange noises.
You sigh crossing the Guardes off your list momentarily. You sigh making your way to take care of the other things on your agenda.
"And you're sure that was the only evidence that you left by accident?"
"Yes." The white haired female let out a sigh of irratation as her nails drum along the desk she sat at.
"No more mistakes or do you need more training?" She sends a glare towards the three who raised their heads slightly.
"No sir." She sighs and dismisses the three from the room. The door to the House of the Hearth closing as a certain blonde and his siblings exit.
"We were a bit careless." One mumbled as they pass down the streets of Fontaine.
"I thought that you had them honestly."
"It doesn't matter, next time we'll do better."
“Places in 5 minutes!”
The staff and the performers began getting ready for their acts. Other performers were talking amongst themselves backstage.
The twins were preparing for their final performances for the night.
Lyney sat next to his vanity, preparing for his upcoming act, while his younger brother, Freminet, drew sketches for his next project sitting with him.
Freminet would occasionally assist the siblings with their shows, though mainly he would watch from the crowd. The last show he helped with, was to regulate Lyney so he wouldn’t have another accident.
“Are you helping out with the show again, Frem?”
“What acts are you doing tonight?’’  The youngest looked up from his drawings.
“The usual, tightrope, saw cut, things like that.”
“I don’t think I’ll join this time then.” Lyney frowns, turning to Freminet.
Lyney sighs making the youngest stop his drawing. He puts down the make-up brush, turning to face him. "You know I only do this to get you comfortable with others right?"
"You're always on your own, you barely even talk to Lynette and I, that's not healthy, little brother."
The youngest stops his drawings as he closes the drawing book. He simply nods, not arguing with his older brother.
Their conversation ends short as a staff member peeks his head into the room.
“Lyney, it’s time.” He stands, tying his bow behind his back.
"Will you watch tonight at least?” He sends a glance to Freminet as he puts on his sleeve and gloves.
"I'll be in the audience."
"Then, I'll make sure to put on a hell of a show for you." He ruffles Freminet's hair before leaving the room.
“Wish me luck!” The crowd cheers welcoming Lyney and Lynette to the stage for their performance.
A/N (2/21): Chapter 3 will be out in a few weeks, thank you for your patience.

lyney x assistant!reader hcs
note; can be read as gn reader, but "my lady" is used so be warned! no angst this time.. for now. this MIGHT end up foreshadowing a future post ;)
reblogs appreciated!!
Tumblr media
★ lyney has a MAJOR crush on you, his assistant, and everyone knows it. like, he won’t try to hide it or anything.
“why should i try to hide my love? i’m not embarrassed, my lady.”
★ he gives me major chat noir vibes tbh. THE WAY HE SO OBVIOUSLY FLIRTS WITH YOU UGHSHD he’s NOT shy when it comes to you.
★ you try not to let his antics get in the way of your performance, but the chemistry you two have is the reason anyone goes to your shows these days. especially since charlotte hypes up the romance in her articles.
★ furina even attends your shows LMAO the relationship you and lyney have makes everything interesting and cute. everyone gets giddy tehe
★ takes a flower out from his sleeve at the start of the show if you're his assistant for the night and gifts it to you. he claims it is for good luck, but lynette rolls her eyes since she knows he's just using it as an excuse.
★ during the performance, he finds ways to be cheeky with you. he’ll wink at you and gently grab your hand and hold your waist as he walks you towards the prop. he smirks as he does so too, making you flustered.
“everyone in the audience! please tell my dear assistant there's NO need to be so nervous. we’ve known each other for a long time, i won’t bite! just trust me~”
★ when the show is over and it's time to bow, he will grab your hand and kiss it before the curtains have the chance to close.
★ the audience cheers loudly and chant “ENCORE!” because of how charming the magician is with you.
★ charlotte WILL end up writing about the whole thing in the steambird for the 10000th time. “DATING OR JUST AN ACT?”
★ YOU don’t even know if it's all an act to get more engagement, or if he really does like you. after all, he has never outright confessed behind the scenes. better to be safe than sorry…

Imagine a horribly clumsy creator in the sagau... like trips over their own feet, starts coughing due to choking on air randomly, knocking a vase off a table that was in the middle of the table somehow???? Silly goofy stuff like that (I pull these silly goofs often personally)
(obv goes w/o saying sorry for being so late to reply /gen) ;-;
clumsy reader is so me core idk why i didnt think of this lmao
Tumblr media
(this gif is liek the modern equivalent of Charlotte posting ur embarrassing clumsy moments on insta Steambird acc lmao)
(so sometimes im lazy and dont include the ask stuff esp if its shorter like this, so here's at least the characters in this one: Fontaine ppl <3 along with a G for general audience, barring cuss words)
Navia would politely ask you to go the edge or whatever area ur in whenever she pulls out her cannons/guns LMAO
every time you and either Clorinde or Neuvillette are walking next to you, or doing rlly anything, its like night and day
ur out here finding all the cracks in the sidewalk, bumping everything that could even possibly have a liquid in it, and have constant bruises from hip checking/stubbing toes on mechas walking around
Clorinde is impressed at that point bc mechas are actively programmed to get out of your way, so how u managed to put them back into ur way rlly fascinates her 😭😭
Neuvillette would like to wrap u in fabric/bubble wrap equivalent for his old ass, in an attempt to desperately stop u from hurting urself lol
u get a new coat or new pants from him all the time, u just thought at first he was rlly into giving u Fontaine fashion until Furina pointed out that it was spring/summer and you wouldn't wear thick woolen pants and fur-lined coats everyday 💀
(poor dragon guy doesn't rlly get the practical side of clothes, he likes fashion, but he inadvertently subscribes to the "hoes don't get cold" philosophy by being an ancient dragon lord)
Wriothesley is unfortunately nice enough to constantly try and catch his poor god, which ends well for neither of you 50% of the time
its not even ur weight takes him down, he's buff as hell after all, and he's dealt with rowdy inmates, its just.. ur clumsiness spreads.
if ur tripping, and the poor Duke reaches out to catch you, ur reaching out at the same time to steady urself on a side table w/a vase full of water, which u then knock off, drenching ur back and his face at the same time LMAO
he doesn't learn, despite u literally begging him to stop trying to help u, then u try and compromise to just let u fall and help u afterward asdfghkl-
Wrio's too chivalrous tho, the most u can get him to do is always grab ur arm instead of trying to bodily catch you
if u think after the first like, ✌️ TWO times Lynette is willing to help you, u r so wrong lmao
she's seen her brothers clumsiness, she knows theres no saving u
she does comfort u after slipping (not even falling but just flailing dramatically) for the 5th time in the puddles around water fountains tho
Lyney and Freminet are lowkey legit convinced someones cursed their god atp 😰
Freminet always had bandaids for u, and Lyney keeps a supply of ur fav candy to cheer u up after embarrassing urself by falling ass backwards right into the Fountain of Lucine right in front of Opera house lmao
...
...Charlotte thinks this is all vv hilarious, no she has no respect for ur godliness, her archon was Furina like LMAO- IM SORRYYY
(she has started a small section in the steambird of a near daily- DAILY picture of u being clumsy 😭)
(u, not srsly, threaten to smite her and she just giggles)
(its ok they take it all in a cute/endearing trait type of way)
again, sorry for lateness, when i reopen askbox (soon, FINALLY-)
ill try and stay more on top of it and try and sort whatre just chats/non-requests better too 😭😭
hope u guys are having a good week!! tysm for being patient and nice to me :')
Safe Travels Kai,
💀♒

What a Camera Cannot Capture (Yandere Harbinger Lyney x reader)
the inspiration for the came from the voice line from Lyney when he was talking about how he was Arlecchino’s successor. So here you go, older Lyney who has become a Fatui Harbinger.
Tumblr media
The performance by the well known magician Lyney had just reached its conclusion minutes ago, you were now getting your coat on and getting ready to leave, the last person to leave actually. You were buttoning up the buttons on your coat and reached into your pocket to grab the scarf you had shoved in there only to find it was not there.
“Looking for this?” You heard the voice behind you, almost with a sing-song tone. You spun around to see the star of tonight’s show, Lyney holding your knitted scarf in his hand. How did he- oh wait, he’s a magician, sleight of hand was his thing. He tosses it back to you and as startled as you were, you caught it as he chuckled. “I wasn’t going to steal it, just playing with you.”
“I figured, but thank you for giving it back.” You replied as you wrapped it around your neck. You turned to the door once more but he called you back.
“You know, I’ve noticed you at almost every show, same seat in the front row.” He spoke as he circled around you, a skip in his step. “Don’t tell me I have an admirer, is that the case?”
“No, no, not in the slightest.” You laughed at his question, but he didn’t laugh with you, if anything he seemed sad. “I’m a photographer for the Steambird, my boss wanted me to get photos for an article covering Fontaine’s entertainment industry.”
“Well then, I hope you caught my good side...” His eyes drifted down to the camera case you held in your free hand and he smiled as his eyes drifted up to your face. He reaches over and before you knew if he was spinning you around and dipped you, his hand on your waist, his face only inches from yours. “…Like this”
He stood you up and spun you out of his embrace and you felt so flustered and your face must have been twenty shades of red. “Y-ya, exactly.”
“Well then, mon chérie, you must be off I suppose.” He walked over and opened and held the door for you. “Do consider paying me another visit at another show sometime, perhaps I could show you around backstage, the behind the scenes.”
“Perhaps, Monsieur, perhaps.”
—————————
“What do you mean your camera is missing?!” You sat in your boss’s office, feeling like a rotten child being yelled at. You had gotten back from the show last night and this morning when you went to get your camera out the case this morning to look at the photos it was gone.
“I-I don’t know, I opened it and it was gone.”
“Well you better find it because without it we lose this article and you lose your job, do I make myself clear?”
“Yes ma’am.”
After that you ran out of her office, nearly in tears as you made your way to the Aquabus Station and took the Navia Line to the Opera Epiclese. You curled up in your seat, praying to whatever god could hear you that you would not lose this job because if you do, archons know what you’ll do then. Once the aquabus reached its stop you literally ran to the Opera Epiclese, your hair getting messed up with your speed and the wind blowing against you, people probably thought someone was dying by the way you looked. You opened the doors to the opera house and rushed into the theater proper. You looked around the opera seat, scouring for where your camera may have fallen. By the time you were finished looking through the seats you must have looked like an absolute wreck with your rush, panic, and tears.
You sat down in one of the seats and wondered what you were going to do. Then you hear voices from backstage, they clearly talked like they thought no one was there. You walked up the stairs onto the stage and walked over to the doors that led backstage. The door was slightly ajar and you slipped in and ducked down under a piece of furniture and listened, call it a reporter’s curiosity.
“My Lord, please excuse me but I doubt that camera has possible evidence against us.”
Camera?
“I know but it was better to be safe than sorry.”
That voice… It was Lyney. What in Teyvat was going on?
“Shall we dispose of the photographer behind these photos? Tracking her down would not be difficult.”
Your breathing stopped… dear gods, they were talking about you.
“No no, that won’t be necessary, she meant no harm by it, besides I have other plans for her.” You heard the voice of Lyney speak, followed by footsteps approaching you but not quite near you, making you think you were still hidden. “You can come out now, mon chérie.”
You could not breathe after you heard that, it felt like you were choking on your own fear.
“Now now, don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you.” You felt your shaking legs push you up for the ground and you finally got a clear view of everything. The two other people next to the magician make you feel sick, two Fatui agents. Lyney gestured you to come here and you stepped forward, every step made your legs feel like they were led. You stood in front of him, not making eye contact, you felt terrified. Lyney looked to the two agents and addressed them. “You two may leave now.”
There were mutterings of acknowledgement before the shuffling of feet, leaving you and the magician alone. You felt Lyney’s hand reach down and tilt your head so you would look at him. “Let’s get you relaxed, come on.”
He took your hand and led you further backstage until he reached a door and opened it with a key. He held the door open for you while you stepped in, it was his dressing room. Lyney slipped in after you and you did not even notice the sound of the door locking as Lyney urged you to sit down while he got some tea for the two of you. You sat down on the velvet couch in the large dressing room while Lyney prepared tea for the two of you. Your eyes drifted around the dressing room, it was so beautiful, and so many flowers that must have come from Lyney’s fans. Then you noticed as Lyney brought the tea tray over and set it between you, you saw on his mirror that it was lined with articles, more specifically photographs from the articles, your photographs you have done, even some photos of you.
“I wish my father could have met you.” He said as he handed you a cup of tea and slowly you brought the cup to your lips and took a sip. “She died before she got the chance. I always talked to her about you though.”
“…how long have you been watching me?” You questioned, parting the cup from your lips.
“Straight to the point I see.” He gave a light laugh and sighed while he counted in his head. “Six years, almost seven.”
You nearly spat out your last sip of tea at that, but forced it down as a look of shock and horror came across your face. “S-seven.”
“Just about, since I started about a year and a half before father died.” Lyney spoke as if nothing was wrong when this was clearly messed up. “I’m guessing you have quite a few questions, so please go right ahead.”
“You’re a part of the Fatui?”
“Ah, yes I am.” He answered as he picked up a macaron from the tea tray to eat, but ended up setting it on your plate. “I was raised in an orphanage run by my father who was a harbinger and I ended up joining them with my sister when I got older. Now since my father passed I have taken her place.”
“You’re… a harbinger.”
“I am, but I’m not going to harm a single hair on your head.” He spoke as you raised the macaron he set on your plate to your lips, not trying to refuse and anger him. You started to feel dizzy and almost sick, your hands started shaking so badly and the pastry fell out of your hand and onto the floor. “Oh dear, are you not feeling well? I didn’t expect it to work that fast, I guess I should have taken Dottore’s word on that.”
“W-what… what did you give me?” You tried to stand up but Lyney’s hand came onto your chest, urging you to lay down on the couch.
“Shhh, just relax, it’s a harmless sleeping drug. You’ll wake up in a few hours.” You rampantly shook your head no, you were scared earlier about your job now you’re scared for your life. “Do you have any more questions I can answer before sleep takes you, my love? If you have any when you awake I’d be happy to answer then.”
“Why me?”
“Oh mon chérie…” his hand came up to stroke your cheek as your vision started to fade. “You’re just so beautiful, your curiosity, your passion for your work. See when my father ran the House of the Hearth she had my mother by her side, albeit a bit unwillingly on my mother’s end, but they ended up being happy in the end. Now that I’m the father of the House, don’t you think I should have a wife at my side?”
Your head felt like it was full of cotton, you could not even think as your body fell limp, your breathing shallow as you struggled to stay awake.
“Just relax my love, I promise everything will be okay when you wake up.”
A photograph can capture the visual, not what disappeared. So what will happen when the magician makes the photographer disappear?

Is He Gay?
[Lyeny x fem!reader 🪄]
part 2
Tumblr media
“Have you girls heard of the new gossip going around?” Your friend—Alice—asks excitedly.
Another friend—Maria—responds with equal energy, “Are you referring to that gossip?”
Alice squeals, “Yes! That new gossip!”
You look between your two friends with concern but also curiosity, “Did this gossip by chance erupt from the Steambird again?”
Maria shakes her head and tuts, “No, no! Though it might actually catch a publisher's attention soon enough. It is strange how they have yet to write about it though…”
Alice nods her head in agreement, “That is very strange. They are usually very fast when it comes to trending gossip.”
You huff in frustration, “Ok we get it, the Steambird is behind for the first time since its founding days. What’s this gossip???”
Your friends giggle at your frustration before looking at you with excitement. Alice quickly responds cheerfully, “This new gossip is about whether or not the Great Magician Monsieur Lyney is gay!”
You deadpanned, “This is the new trending gossip???”
They gasp in surprise at your lack of surprise. Maria asks in a concerned tone, “Aren’t you even slightly curious yourself Y/N?”
You cross your arms and ask seriously, “How the heck did this even start??? What about him began this whole circulation of his sexual preference??”
Alice grabs her fan and begins to fan herself quickly in disbelief, “Oh my archons, it’s everything about him of course!”
You raise a brow, “‘Everything’ you say? Enlighten me.”
Your friends look around before leaning over the table in a totally not suspicious manner. Alice whispers quietly, “Have you noticed the way he behaves? He is very friendly with the male audience during his performances!”
Maria also quietly chimes in, “His outfit is also very…interesting. No man in Fontaine dresses as exotically as he does!”
Alice adds to her previous comment, “There have also been rumors suggesting that maybe he is bisexual. He may be nice to the male audience but he is also quite suggestive with the ladies!”
Maria nods enthusiastically at Alice’s claims. She adds on to her comment, “Or maybe he is being suggestive with the ladies to hide any evidence that he is gay?”
Alice squeals, “Oh my you are probably onto something Maria! Don’t you think Y/N?”
You had a look of disappointment and deadpanned, “Is he not allowed to be friendly with the audience he is entertaining??”
Your friend's excitement was now washed over with an unamused expression. Alice whines, “Why can’t we be allowed to entertain the possible idea that he could be gay!”
You shrug, “I just find it disrespectful to make assumptions about someone’s preference without gaining confirmation from them.”
Maria pouts, “You know very well that we are unable to approach him! Security is too tight and surely he will run away from us thinking that we are deranged fans!”
You mumbled quietly, “I wouldn’t blame him for thinking that…”
Your friends gasp and Maria cries, “I heard that! Oh you wound me…!”
Alice pretends to wipe away a tear, “And here we thought you would understand us Y/N. How dare you make fun of your dear friends!”
You chuckle at their antics, “You girls can stop exaggerating now.” You place your hands on the table and quickly change the topic, “But seriously how is his attire and behavior weird? He is a Magician after all. He is supposed to be ‘other-worldly’ or ‘magical’.”
Maria replies, “Ok that is a very fair argument.”
Alice nods, “I also have to agree that you made a very fair point.”
You hum happily knowing you managed to win, “Shall we continue with our tea time?”
Alice looks at you curiously, “Before we do that, are you . you're not even just a little bit curious—”
Maria gently slaps Alice’s head, “Ok maybe we should actually drop the gossip for the day~.”
You all chattered and had a wonderful time and began to part ways, promising to schedule for another tea time whenever time permits. As you walk around the streets of the central city, you begin to see many people huddled together whispering among themselves.
You could make out bits and pieces of their conversations as you were casually walking around…
“Hey have you heard…”
“Well he does have an exotic attire…”
“I heard that he gave the traveler a rainbow rose!”
“He is very touchy with the audience…”
“I saw him giving a lady a hug…”
“Maybe he…”
You begin to zone out and walk aimlessly as you begin to process the conversation you had with your friends and what you are hearing from the people around.
‘Is he gay…?’
You quickly caught yourself and shook your head furiously and mumbled, “No, no. Don’t let the gossip get to you. Lynette would be the first to know then me and Freminet…”
‘But what if…?’
You grab your head and groan, “For the love of the Hydro Archon! Ughhhhh! Don’t let their gossip get to me, I beg of you Hydro Archon!”
‘Then again, Lady Furina would absolutely love this gossip and also demand answers….’
You quickly left the city, unable to handle all the crazy variations of gossip being spewed at every corner. You find yourself outside the walls of the city and sit by a ledge and admire the view of the open waters.
You felt at peace and in control. The wind gently swayed your hair and provided a comforting chill that you gladly welcomed while watching the birds play and fishes swimming about. The quiet noise of the waters rushing ashore then back to the ocean was also another relaxing variable.
You leaned over slightly to see your reflection in the water and admired it momentarily before your attention was snatched away by a fish that poked its head out of the water before quickly hiding again after being caught by you.
You giggled at the sight before heaving out a long sigh of relief. You had failed to notice someone approaching you with mischievous intent.
The figure slowly crept up behind you and gently tapped your left shoulder. You were caught off guard and quickly looked back to see who disturbed you.
“Bonjour mon ami! Enjoying the peace and tranquility?”
You sigh and go back to looking at the open waters of Fontain, “Mhm, I just needed to get away from society for a bit.”
Lyney tilts his head before asking, “Why is that? Anything unpleasant happened today?”
“Mmmm, I wouldn’t say unpleasant. It’s just ridiculous gossip going around and it’s just…”
Lyney hums, “it’s just…?”
You shook your head, “Really just dumb gossip that I could not handle. If I were to stay any longer, I too would’ve been part of the mob.”
He chuckles, “Was it that bad?”
You looked back at him with the intention of answering back but you zoned out very quickly. You began to wonder,
‘Do I tell him about what people are saying about him?’
You could see that Lyney gave you a concerned look.
‘Maybe I shouldn’t. It’s his life, not mine.’
“Are you ok?”
“Are you gay?” You blurted out.
Lyeny now had a very shocked look and you watched as you slowly began to process what you had just said.
Your face becomes flushed in embarrassment and quickly defend yourself, "Please ignore that! I didn't meant for that to come out, I–"
"So you were thinking if I was gay?" He asks in an amused tone.
"No-! I mean yes–! Wait no I–!"
You covered your face with your hands in shame. You groaned and refused to meet his mischievous gaze.
Lyney laughed heartily to your embarrassment. He wrapped his stomach with his arms as he hunched over, "Where did you get that assumption from~?"
You groaned, refusing to face him and tell him how you even stumbled upon this idea.
His laughter finally dies down. He wipes away a few tears before placing himself next to you on the ledge and grabs your left arm gently, "Look at me please~?"
You remain stiff and mumble quietly, "No…"
He sighs before removing your left hand from your face and cupping your face with his hands, forcing you to look his way.
You kept your eyes shut, stubbornly refusing to see his face. Lyney chuckles, finding amusement towards your behavior before he leans forward slowly…
You felt something soft touch your forehead which made you flinch at the unexpected feeling. You slowly peeled your eyes open, wondering what was touching your forehead and why Lyney had become quiet.
"Hey, what are you–"
You see Lyeny leaning over to your forehead giving it a gentle kiss. You quickly pulled away and your face immediately plunged into a deep shade of crimson.
You place your right hand onto your forehead and attempt to form a normal sentence but ultimately fail miserably.
Lyney flashes you his signature charming smile, "Does that provide an answer to your question~?"
"Huh…?"
He pouts, "Seems like I need to be a bit more upfront about this. Hmmmm, what to do~?"
Your mind was all over the place trying to make sense of the whole situation. Lyney could tell that you were caught off guard and still processing everything.
Lyney smirks and removes his hat and places it in front of you, "Look inside my hat, it's empty right?"
You snapped out of your trance and looked inside of his hat. It was indeed empty and you nodded silently.
He flips his hat before placing it upside down again and peering inside, "Oh it seems like there's something inside!"
He quickly places his hand inside and pulls out a bouquet of rainbow roses. He offers it to you and winks, "Let's go out on a romantic dinner date at Hotel Debord. You'll find the answer that you seek there~."

-> happy valentines day!
synopsis -> how some of my favorite genshin women and men celebrate valentines day.
characters -> ningguang, shenhe, yelan, ei, miko, wriothesley, lyney, albedo, kazuha
warnings -> none! all fluff.
w/c -> 1.0k
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
ningguang is a woman with many riches. the moment her mind processed it was valentines day when she woke up for work was also the moment she hurried over to her wardrobe, digging up a beautiful bracelet made only with diamonds before setting it down on your night table. as she was putting on her clothes, you groaned, waking up. she leaned down to kiss you before telling you to look over on your side of the nightstand, greeted to an outstanding piece of jewelry you could only dream of having. you groggily smiled, putting the bracelet around your wrist before throwing the covers off of your body and hugging your wonderful wife.
shenhe doesn’t really understand the concept of ‘valentines day.’ she knew of it as liyue citizens being cheesy on the streets, and the finest cuisine’s businesses flooding with romance. usually, she’d watch from afar. but ever since you entered her picture, she started to care just a bit more. she’d spend the day with you in the harbor, observing other couples actions before deciding herself what to do. she had decided to buy you a nice box of chocolates and a few clothing items you’ve been eyeing. she bought them with you there, without a word, waiting until you both exited the store to give them to you. when you tightly hugged her, she let out a tiny laugh, hugging you back lightly.
oh? wriothesley, the great duke of the fortress of meropide, celebrating such a holiday? yes! as the morning approached, the first fun little gift you received was his presence in bed, still asleep. ah, he must have taken the day off of work, you thought. he awoke a few moments later, saying his good morning before getting up to start the day with you. he took you out for a very nice breakfast before walking around the inner city. oh, no matter if this were to go into the steambird. charlotte is probably lingering somewhere, eager to catch a rare sight of the duke on the surface. he brought you to an isolated part of fontaine, a gorgeous view, and making sure nobody was in sight, got down on one knee and pulled out an extraordinary ring from his pocket, holding it out to you.
lyney is most certainly going to celebrate valentines day, with a valentine or not. whether it’s performing card tricks that turn into roses for men with a romantic partner, or actually celebrating it with his significant other. he’ll perform a very special magic performance, just for your eyes, not even lynette or freminet have seen it! gorgeous, glittering roses in your favorites of colors come drifting from nowhere, landing in your hair. only the finest for you! he’ll absolutely spoil you with a dinner that certainly cost one hefty sum of mora… you really, truly hope today won’t make him bankrupt.
yelan will spoil you, without a doubt. she doesn’t care much about the holiday itself, what she does care for though is that you get what you desire on such a day. she’ll take you anywhere you would like! she also likes to save the fanciest restaurants for days like these in specific. you saw a restaurant in mondstadt during your last visit? she’ll take you, and you’ll spend the night in the city of wind. she’ll do anything for you no matter, and she’ll top it off with a cute box of chocolates and a bouquet. she’s not quite the person for overwhelming affection, so she’ll give these things to you in subtle ways, behind the safety of your walls.
oh, ei. from being in such a state of meditation for so long, this woman barely grasps the concept of christmas! do not fret, she’s a quick learner. (but don’t ask her to cook. that is something she will not be able to learn.) once you explain to her what valentine's day is, and also take her to get a small rundown of the holiday from yae miko, she nods before immediately dashing off to find an exquisite treasure at a nice shop downtown. of course, considering she’s in a very high position in inazuma, she gets cheaper prices on all of the trinkets, she absolutely spoils you! she’s also willing to walk around other islands with you, to admire the scenery before pulling out the things she got you and proceeding to make it a day worth remembering.
yae miko has lived long enough to understand what valentines day is. she see’s romance on the streets during those days, and she’s even published a light novel on two lovebirds on a holiday such as this. so do not underestimate how long she has planned your gift, as soon as you wake up you are greeted to a small book laying on your pillow. you go to open it, reading such a beautiful story about how you two fell in love. it was two completely different characters re-enacting your story. she comes into your shared bedroom, sitting down with you before rubbing your thigh, a look that cannot be told between a smirk and a light smile dancing across her gorgeous face.
albedo didn’t see the significance at first. of any holiday, people choose to celebrate this one? isn’t that what anniversaries are for? though, once he sees how important it is to you, he crafts a beautiful necklace with his bare hands and some potions he had mixed up to create the gemstones that were very neatly embedded into the shell of the jewelry. it was beautiful- likely the prettiest thing you’ve set your eyes upon, considering not only was it made from love, it went perfectly with your eyes and hair. valentines day this year was such a success with albedo as your partner.
kazuha knew valentines day. he’d make today extra special for you, taking you to the finest cuisines in whatever area you were at during your travels. he’d occasionally stop, creating a bouquet that he’d plan on giving to you later on at night. when you had received it, there was everything in there- he had collected some qingxin flowers, sweet flowers, a few mint leaves for color, some silk flowers, glaze lillies, and violetgrass. you truly believed it was the most gorgeous bouquet you’ve seen, and it landed a place in a very nice glass vase when you two arrived home that evening.

Scarlet leaves: The children of the ocean (Chapter 1)
Notes
The Goodwill's Children are a group of children who run the streets of Fontaine. (They are not canon)
Lynette's nickname is Nettie and will be referred to as such through out the series.
Kazuha will be here much later on through out the chapters.
Freminet will be showing up much later through out the story.
This is not a Kazuha centric story, some chapters will focus on him, so please don't leave in my messages "Where is Kazuha?", because he's not the main character. He is a main character but not the main character.
(The title refers to there being about 3 main characters.)
Just wanted to make that clear!
Scarlet leaves AU is an Au where the fontaine twins don't join the fatui and eventually travel Teyvat with Kaedehara Kazuha and later adopted by him.
The Idea came from here!
This took me months to do and I'm happy to finally show this to you all.
Plot:
Lyney and Lynette are a pair of unfortunate children who lost their parents to disease. They try to live day by day through each paycheck by doing jobs to save up money to rebuy their house. While dealing with the orphan gang and struggling to maintain rations to live by week by week, the twins meet a certain white-haired ronin.
Let's get things started ^^
Tumblr media
Fontaine began to calm down for the night as most began to get off work. Stores began to close as people hurried home for the night, except for a few unfortunate souls. Most children who weren't sent to the orphanage begged the streets and scavenged for food at night. Fontaine wasn't the best at monitoring and helping the children. Most went to orphanages or were picked off the streets; if they were lucky, others, in worse-case scenarios, died.
Lyney and Lynette were no exception to this.
The first few months were hell as the two began to adjust to the streets. As the government repossessed items from their home, the two were left with the clothes they had on the night their parents died. Almost too soon after they passed, everything that was eventually going to be promised to the twins was taken away from them. A few people came by and began to take things from their home. Both fought for the gifts from their parents at the time because they were confused, only to have them taken away. The people who had taken away the only memories they had of their parents shortly after that ejected them from their house. After being kicked from their house, the two wandered the streets of Fontaine that night. No one would look at them, nor would anyone have pity for the new orphans.  Lyney, as the eldest, tried working various jobs to keep them afloat so that they could at least have food for tomorrow. With every ration that he brought, he found it quickly diminishing every time he brought groceries home.
"Move, you damn brats.” Lyney falls to the ground, holding his sister close to him. Looking up, he sees the group of orphan children glaring down at them. The Goodwill’s Children, an orphan gang, ran the streets of Fontaine. Their motto was to claim things from the rich and give them to everyone in "need."
Typically, when there were fresh orphans living on Fontaine's streets, they would assist anyone who was willing to help the needy for a small fee.
"So, what did you take home this week?" Someone takes Lynette's stack of food and examines it. The ragtag group of orphans were chowing down on their hard-earned food.
"Ooh, this is the good stuff, boss.” One of the members exclaimed as she quickly ate the piece of food, taking another piece. Soon enough, the others joined in, each eating up their rations as quickly as they earned them. Finishing off, they dropped the empty bag in front of them by accident.
“You’re supposed to be helping the streets, not hoarding food for yourselves.” One mentioned kicking Lynette in the leg as she fell. Lyney’s eyes met the leader, who wore a smug look. She stood over his sister, grabbing her by the hair as she went to take out a weapon. Lyney approaches as the weapon digs into her throat. The group let out a laugh as he froze in place. Another member abruptly forced him to his knees as the leader kneeled in front of him. She lifts his head so that they can make eye contact.
"Always give us a portion of your earnings from your job first the next time around, alright?" She leaned in close to his face. Her hot breath hit his cheeks as he glared up at her. She lets go of him, as she and her group make their way back down the road that they came from.
Ignoring his wounds, he gets up, rushing to attend to Lynette, who rises to her feet. She let out a deep sigh, facing her brother. Lyney frets over her appearance, causing a small laugh from her.
“Are you alright, Nettie?” Lynette brushes off her dress, getting to her feet. Walking over to their little house, she grabs a few items. A top hat, a few birds that she had caught were in small cages, and some fireworks were in hand as she made her way back towards him.
“I’m alright, Lyney. We should practice for our performance tonight.” He agrees as they pull out their hats. Lyney tries to pull something out of his top hat, only to pull out lent. Lynette works to make a pigeon disappear, only for the pigeon to fly away that she had to chase down. While his sister ran to get their assistant back, he was practicing card tricks that, over the weeks, he was able to make decent. He continued working on it, until his sister came back to their home. Her hair was disheveled, but the bird was caught in the cage. Carefully, she sat the pigeon down before approaching her brother. They continued practicing their acts for the night before making their way towards the streets. Lyney hands fidgeted with each step they took towards the area. He shakily took deep breathes in and out as his sister lightly squeezed his other empty hand. He let out the sigh he was holding in as his heart rate began to slow down, as he walked in sync with his sister.
Usually around nighttime, the crowds in Fontaine circled around Monsieur Cesar’s performances. Monsieur Caesar was Fontaine’s famed magician, known for the acts he would put on for families and the street acts he would do for the children.
Lyney watched curiously as he moved the hat to the audience, showing nothing within it. As he lowered it, Lyney saw a rabbit being pushed into the back of the hat.
“Ta da!” The hat appeared on the table as the crowd clapped. Lyney gave a smug look towards the audience who remained entranced.
`This seemed like it could be easy, maybe this isn’t as hard as Ceser makes it look?``
Lynette continues her next act with the use of small rings of fire as she jumps around for her performance. Her act mimics the ring of fire act most performers would do for their performances. She successfully passes by the last one, only for her dress to catch on fire a bit. Lynette looks in shock before going away from the crowd to put out the fire. Lyney glances towards her before continuing with his act.
The rabbit in the hat trick was one that they worked on for weeks. After many attempts, he was able to do it. “Look here—a cute white rabbit, right? I’ll make this rabbit disappear before your eyes.” He carefully put the rabbit in the hat before facing the crowd.
“Count down with me now.” He pulls a cover over the hat as the countdown gets to the last number. He pulls the hat back before revealing an empty hat to the crowd. They clap for him as he makes a small bow before re-covering the cap again. Instead of the rabbit reappearing, the hat remained empty. He looks at the top hat, surprised, before recovering it again. The crowd let out a small laugh at his mistake. When the rabbit didn’t appear, the crowd began to get confused.
"Apologies, ladies and gentlemen; there appears to be an issue.” He moves around his makeshift stage, looking for his assistant. Some people got up and began to leave his show as he ran around frantically. His anxiety creeps back in as he frantically moves things making the stage look sloppy. `It was just right here, what did it go?` He looks over on the side to see if Lynette has come back, only to see no one else but himself. He takes a small sigh before opening up his mouth to apologize to the crowd.
“Lyney.” Lynette re-entered the stage with the rabbit on her head. The crowd laughed at the silly look that she had. He let out a small sigh before greeting the audience with a more confident look. “Everyone, she did it!” He bows as they clap for his sister who hands him the rabbit. The rabbit settled in his arms as he looks over to her with a sheepish look.
“thanks, sis.” She rolls her eyes as she takes the stage once more. The two of them and the rabbit bowed as the crowd gave them some cheers. “This has been Lyney and Lynette’s magic show, we’ll see you next time.” He lights a small smoke bomb that goes off as they exit the makeshift stage. This first performance didn’t go exactly as he had planned, but at least they were able to get their names out there. The twins walk with their equipment down the small alleyway.
“How much did we earn?” She holds up the mora they received from their performances. The amount grew a bit from his little mishap towards the end. He slowly counted it over noticing that it was still not enough for food rations for a few months.
“Sorry Nettie, it looks like I won’t be able to get you that desert that you really wanted.”
“It’s fine. What’s most important is that we’re able to save up money to take back our house.” After being kicked from their own home, the person in charge told them to bring 40,000 mora to buy the house back. Lyney pleaded saying that it belongs to them and why would they take it away. The person only says that it’s business after all and that small brats like them couldn’t even think to afford to live somewhere as nice as this. Lyney was held back by Lynette that day so that he couldn’t chase after the man.
“Soon we’ll have enough, just another few 10 years.” He joked before letting out a groan as he held his hands over his face. “Adult life must be hard.” He sighs as they make their way home.
The day after, their small show began regular street performances. With each performance came its mistakes, but also gained new audience members. Their acts are what they expected to draw in people, with all the rookie mistakes, however, this has become more of a comedy show every night.
“Lynette, so I heard that you and your brother are doing magic shows at night?”
The introverted girl nods at her boss while she works on a cake that’s for delivery. Café Lutece that was known for their desserts and sweets, was where Lynette found work. As someone who always buys desserts and spends her time there, her brother suggested that finding work here would be good for her, as she gets discounts for her favorite cakes. Her work was simple and due to her looks, she helped the restaurant receive mora in return. Most would come to Café Lutuce to help the poor child who was working as hard as the adults. Some only spent so much money on the café, to "help” the poor child who came from a struggling family.
“Yes.” One of the coworkers said that she had let out a small clap for the girl. She pulls the younger girl into a hug. “You must have been very much inspired by Mr. Ceser huh?” Lynette nods as another coworker pulls her away from the girl.
“From what I heard, your acts going wrong seem to be more popular."
Her ear twitches at the comment before she lets out a small nod. A coworker pats her on the head with a bright smile. “I’m sure you’ll do well.”
“Activate chat mode. Welcome to Café Lutece, I’m Lynette. What can I get you?” She takes the order for a family that entered the café.
“Aren’t you a little too young to be working here, sweetheart?” She ignores the woman’s concern before repeating her question. Her husband looks towards Lynette with a look of pity towards her. She shrugs it off as she makes her way towards the back with the order.
Going to the next table, the pity she received dwindled down as the group of nobles looked down upon her. “Little girl, make sure you don’t mess this up. My wife would like La letter a Focalors, and I’ll have Conch Madeleine, and some tea freshly brewed from Chenyu Vale.” She stares him down before heading back into the kitchen. She hands the order over to the staff as she makes her way back to taking orders.
By time she returns to the table, she hands them the order before walking off once more. Halfway within someone's orders, she hears her name being yelled as people begin to stare in the direction of the guests whose orders she just placed down.
“This is horrendous, maid here!” The man angrily waves his hands at her as she walks over, carefully stopping a foot away from him. His wife looks at her with a look of disgust as she holds up a piece of cake.
“What is in this?” Lynette stares at her blankly. “Flour, eggs, sugar, normal ingredients.” The woman clicks her tongue as she shows her face to the cat girl. Her face swells slightly as she glares at her. Lynette pauses before walking towards the other staff. Returning to the couple, one of her co-workers took over her speaking for her and found ways to accommodate the couple to appease them. The woman’s face grew red with the more that her co-worker spoke.
“I want this girl fired, clearly she doesn’t know how to do her job.’’ She turns towards the younger girl with a smug look. Her coworker glances towards her before turning back towards the couple.
“She’s our newest employee, she still is taking some time to get used to things, please forgive her for any mistakes.” Lynette also apologizes to the couple as she makes her way back towards the other staff. “She is still learning how to navigate things.” The words they used to appease the couple only expanded the aggression.
“Whoever taught her needs to be fired as well! The cake that she brought was wrong, the tea wasn’t from Chenyu Vale like I ordered, it was cold water, it wasn’t even brewed properly!” Lynette watches the situation become more out of hand as the manager comes out and takes over. She walks back over to her other tables, handing them their orders while the situation is taken care of.
“Hey Nettie.” She enters their makeshift house, dragging her feet along the ground. Their makeshift house in an alleyway was growing more with each item added to the house. Even though the two had a place to call their own, it was nothing compared to the house that they once owned.
"Stressful day?" He finishes cooking and takes a sit next to her, offering her a bowl of food. The two dined alone, their bowls clinking softly. "Work was okay today, I suppose. I delivered a package to the wrong customer, and this lady went off on me." She remains quiet occasionally showing she's listening with an attentive nod as he reverts to silence. When they were finished, he collected the plates and placed them in a bag. "I'll go clean these tomorrow." She hastily changes into her costume as they go for their next job.
“They are so cute, trying to mimic Monsieur Ceser.” One of their wealthier patrons laughed at the cat in their performance, attacking Lyney. Lyney ran around as Lynette tried to fix the props that got knocked over. All of this causing laughter from their audience members. Lyney and Lynette received claps for their performance as they took their bows. Lynette collected tips as Lyney stuck around talking to their patrons.
“Your acts are so well Lyney.” He gives them a smile thanking them. He reaches in his hat before pulling out a boquet of Lumi Douce bells.
“My sister and I appreciate your support."
“Instead of doing magic acts, why don’t you both start a circus with the number of times that you’re acts go wrong.” The person with the person he was speaking with let out a laugh, causing a few others to laugh as well. They mock him further before making their way out of the plaza where they were performing at.
Lyney sighs grabbing a few props to pack up, when someone else called his name, he was still having a conversation with one.
"Hello, Lyney and Lynette, was it?”
A brunette man in an expensive outfit and a blonde-haired woman in expensive clothing made their way towards the two. The man standing next to her had a happy expression on his face as he looked in their direction, concealing the woman's identity and hiding her emotion.
“The two aspiring magicians, whose acts resemble the Great Magician Ceser.” Lyney looks towards his sister as she eyes them before facing him. Her expression changed to a look of discomfort before changing back to blank. Lyney faced the two with a bright smile as he spoke with the same politeness. "Good evening, dear guests; yes, Monsieur Ceser has greatly inspired my sister and I."
"Most acts that we have tried are old tricks that he used while making his debut."
The man laughs as he nods his head. "I'm surprised that you know that being that his debut was before you were both born." Lyney fidgets with his hat as the man continues talking. "Well, in order to learn, one must study everything in order to improve." He pulls out a few of Cecilia's, handing them to the woman next to him. She lets out a huff of surprise, accepting them from him. "What is that my sister and I can do for you, sir?"
“I noticed that you both were without parents. As for someone as talented and amazing as the both of you, it’s rather concerning.” Lyney notices the soft smile that the woman gives him as she lowers the fan from her face. The man grins at her sweetly as he takes her hand before continuing. “If you don’t mind, we would like to adopt you.” Lyney stared at the couple for a minute before turning to his sister. She still held a skeptical look as she eyed the couple. Facing him, she shakes her head.
"It is true; my sister and I do not have parents, but we are able to take care of ourselves. "Also, we are aware of your concern, and we are unable to go along with it." He observes that the smiles that were on their faces disappear. An attempt is made by the woman to mask her emotion by bringing the fan back to her mouth, while the husband appears to be in a state of confusion, almost as if he was unaware of being rejected.
"Are you sure?" Lyney nods as he collects the remainder of his belongings from their impromptu stage. Remaining there, the couple cast an intimidating gaze in the direction of the two individuals. Their smiles have faded as they look down at them from above, as if they were beneath them.
“Have a good night.” Lyney tips his hat towards the two as the twins make their way back to their makeshift home. Peering over his shoulder, he sees the man grit his teeth as he and the woman take their leave.
“Why were they pressuring us so much?”
“I heard that some nobles have been adopting children off the streets as of late.” Lyney looks at her in shock as she continues. “Some orphans have been offered the chance to have a better life with these noble families.” Lyney felt a pit of anxiety hit him as he compared the previous situation from just now to what she was talking about. He remembers how they froze up when they declined their help.
“Do you think that they may have been?” She nods as his voice cuts off. They walk in silence for the remainder of their trip home.
"Lyney has a new delivery for this week.” He nods, taking the pack of newspapers as he makes his way out the door of the office of The Steambird. A young woman in her 20s stood outside as he passed her a series of newspapers in the satchel that he was given. Lyney’s put on his steambird badge before making his departure. “I have more work for you when you make your way back.” She sees him off.

Note
the twins were unaware Freminet had a girlfriend. once they know, Lyney freaks out and gets all dramatic(perhaps a 'family' gathering where reader is introduced to the twins?). from that point on freminet is getting regularly teased about the relationship and goes to you for comfort at night. (this can be either cuddles and some complaining or him getting kinky, you choose)
sorry for not uploading yesterday i slept like half the day
Tumblr media
even though you and freminet had been dating for awhile now, neither of you actually told anyone yet, it wasn't really needed because you both had limlted friends and were just not very talkative
freminet never told his siblings either, he didn't think they'd care all that much, it's just a girlfriend, not a big deal, right?
well...wrong, one day the two of you were just chilling at his place, his siblings were supposed to be doing a interview with the steambird, while the two of you cuddled together on his couch
and at the exact moment he kissed you, lyney had opened the door, immediately gasping very dramatically while lynette just stood beside unamused by her twin's actions, her shock nonapparent
"my little brother has a girlfriend? and he never thought to tell me even once? oh, how you've pained me, freminet!"
lyney was his usual teasing self but somehow worse, he planned out a whole dinner for the four of you so he and lynette could get to know you, and began acting like he was some kind of embarrassing mom by telling you stories from their time together
freminet wanted the ground to swallow him whole, or maybe swallow lyney instead, lynette on the other hand was interested in hearing you talk about yourself, lyney took notice in the fact that freminet seemed happier around you, he felt his heart warm, he knew freminet deserved it
but that didn't stop him from teasing his brother every chance he got of course
it didn't matter what was happening, lyney would somehow bring you up, or when he saw you two together he just had to make it embarrassing
"i have to go out tonigh-" "you're going to see your girlfriend, aren't you~?" "...i have a job, lyney"
but freminet was still the shy and insecure boyfriend you always knew, he knew lyney teased him for fun, and he didn't mean to embarrass him or make him feel weird about it, but he couldn't help it
he would lay in your arms at night, one of the only places he feels safe, hugging you close and just enjoying your presence, sighing softly as you caress him, he leaned forward to kiss you, slowly growing more passionate
his hand grabbed yours, leading it to his thigh, already knowing what he wanted, you moved your hand forward...
only for his siblings to interrupt at the worst timing imaginable, lyney's eyes widened and for a moment you thought you embarrassed him for once, but then...
"...freminet lost his virginity before me?!"
"...not a very hard thing to achieve, brother"
lyney and lynette stared at the two of you, even lynette's normally stoic expression was nowhere to he seen, then lyney cleared his throat
"...i think it's time we have the talk, freminet" freminet could only groan and slump into your arms, but he smiled softly, he wouldn't want to trade this for anything

With a devious plot to flirt with your boyfriend in hand you didn't expect him to react the way he did...
N: don't tell the nurse I'm out again 😡 event link here
Warnings: bit suggestive, no rizz pick up lines/j
Tumblr media
"How fast do you think they'll be on the steambird" "with how Charlotte is? Give her a few days" "I bet an hour" Lynette casually sips her tea while Freminet wipes his helmet. You've been waiting for Valintines day to roll around, gifts already made for him, wrapped to the best of your ability. It's been a while since he's seen you after you've went to inazuma, knowing him he's probably crying to Lynette about it, a thought crossed your mind to be uncharacteristically flirtatious with him, imagining him mutter and blush wildly couldn't help but get a small smirk outta you, arriving at the doc, you walk through fontaine knowing you'll be eventually stopped by a certain magican
"MA CHÉRIE" was what read the card that just so happened to magically float next to you. "You've learned another way of greeting me" Noticing the arms squeezing around your waist, lyney squishing his face into your shoulder. "I've missed you too my love" "I missed you more" you giggle at his reaction patting his head "I've brought sweets, but i dont know if they'll be as sweet as you but I'm sure you'll like them" he hugs you tighter felling his chest move as if he were giggling. "I'll gladly try them" finally lifting his face to look at yourse, cheeks brushed with blush with a sly smile streaked across his face. "I'm sure I'll enjoy them" Uncharacteristically, he holds your hand while walking with you, he usually kisses you then holds your hand, so you do it for him *chu* taking the lead you walk with him his hand in yours with a flustered magician following behind
"How have you been, ma chérie?" "Great I have pictures, trinkets, and mostly snacks that I thought Lynette would love with tea" "you're quite considerate" "Why shouldn't I be they're my inlaws after all" managing to fluster him more he turns his face away from you "why, were not even married" holding your hands, and tapping his shoe into the ground, too bashful to even look in the eyes. "Hm" you pull gently at his hands "would you like to be" he pulled back suddenly, widened eyes while almost being fully red in the face. "Your eyes are wavering my love" "don't notice that" "it's cute!" "Ughhh" hiding his face into your chest you pat his head. "There there" he seems to giggle lightly
Giving Lynette and Ferminet the sweets and showing them the trinkets you got, Lynette couldn't help but notice her brothers flustered face. "Called it" mumbling under her breath she looks to Freminet, understanding her near instantly he backed away getting out of his chair. "Me and Lynette have gifts for you aswell I'll go find them" Lynette stands following him, calm eyes meeting the flustered magicans, a smirk underneath his hand. "I have something for you aswell follow me" taking your hand, he leads you to his room
Closing the door behind him, he takes the hat off putting it on your head. "You know exactly what to say to fluster someone" he kisses your cheek, letting you sit on his bed. "I'm embarrassed to know I can get flustered like that" he continues on kissing almost randomly along your face. "I'll get you for that" gripping your hands, he leans into your ear "Times a million"

Definitely a Date- Lyney x Neuvillette's child!Reader
Return to File
Recovery date: April 18th, 2024
Description: Hello 👋, I just wanted to say I loved the Neuvillette story and I would like to see a continuation where the relationship with Lyney and the reader was explored, but if it's not to much to ask I'd also like some more context with the relationship between Neuvillette and the readers mother.
Notes: This work was recovered in conjunction with @crystalkat6747, we thank her for her contribution. This was fun, and ended up being super long. I clearly have favorites, lol. This is a continuation of Let It Out but, i think it can be read alone. Normal can be read as a third part.

"I’m going out with Lyney today,” Y/n said before taking another bite of their croissant. “We might leave the city.”
“Very well, I won’t wait for you at dinner time.” Neuvillette stopped spreading the jam on his bread. “And if you could, ask him to stop climbing up to your window. He’s going to get arrested one of these times.”
Y/n inhaled sharply and began choking on their food. They grabbed their tea cup and chugged the drink before coughing some more. Neuvillette watched them carefully, pushing his chair back in case he needed to help.
“Are you alright?”
“I’m-” they coughed some more, “I’m fine,” they wheezed. “I didn’t think you knew about that,” they muttered, pouring themself more tea.
“I had my suspicions, but that was how he came looking for you the other day.”
Y/n cringed a bit at the mention of the other day. It had been three days since they and their siblings had scared their father shitless, and a day since the twins had gone back to Liyue where they were currently running a small legal business. In that time Y/n had stayed close to their father and been helping around the Palais Mermonia; whether it was their way of making up for scaring him or them trying to comfort themself was uncertain.
“On a different topic, I’ve been giving your question some thought.” Y/n’s brows furrowed in confusion. “About why your mother and I are no longer together.”
“Oh.”
“I believe it was as I said before, my duty as your father is to protect you, and your mother did not believe we could do that here. She’d always taken the prophecy seriously, and as the water level began to rise she became more anxious about what might happen. However, I refused to abandon my duties here and while she could not make you leave with her– at least you would have somewhere outside of Fontain you could go.”
“I’m guessing there was more to it?”
A small smile pulled at Neuvillette’s lips. “Yes, but it doesn’t concern you.”
Y/n leaned their chin on their palm and watched their father as he flipped to the next page of the Steambird. His eyes were solemn in a way akin to how they looked after a trial. They’d always known that he hadn’t liked the idea of the divorce, but they’d also gotten the feeling it was partly because he blamed himself. After their mother had left Fontain, he’d made it a point to spend his lunch break with them and take them to see shows they expressed interest in as though he were trying to make up for his previous absence caused by work.
In fact, they’d been in the audience together when Lyney and Lynette had debuted in the Opera Epiclese.
“So, when-”
A knock echoed through the house and Y/n rushed to the front door, Neuvillette close behind.
“Hey,” Y/n breathed out.
“Good morning, Y/n.” Neuvillette heard Lyney say just before he turned the corner. To his surprise, the magician was not in his usual clothes. Instead he was dressed in black slacks and a red dress shirt, sans his usual hat. “Are you ready to go?”
“Yes, let me just-ah!”
Y/n turned around to find their father standing at the end of the hallway.
“Enjoy your day.”
“Mhm,” Y/n nodded.
Lyney held out his arm for Y/n to take, and they waved goodbye to their father before stepping outside and linking their arm with his. Neuvillette watched them walk down the street, arm in arm, before closing the door to finish his morning routine.
“Nice outfit,” Y/n hummed, leaning into the magician’s side.
“Thank you, you look good too.”
They walked past shops with windows full of mechanical toys and fancy jewelry, occasionally stopping to talk about the items on sale. Y/n shared the story of  a new line of accessories they came across, and how the melusine who was sourcing the material had gifted them one of the first watches made. Lyney smiled as they went on about how pretty the watches circuitry was, which ended with them asking about Freminet’s recent inventions.
Lyney was more than happy to share about Pers’ latest upgrade as they headed towards Cafe Lutece.
“What are we doing here?” Y/n wondered aloud as Lyney led them up to the counter.
“Grabbing snacks.”
Y/n shrugged, and ordered a batch of conch madeleines. When they turned back from getting their mora out, they found the exact change already on the counter. They turned to Lyney who grinned and pulled them away to a table where they could wait.
“I could have paid for myself.”
“It’s no problem, I like treating you when we go out.”
Y/n let out a fond sigh as a white box was set on the table. The young adults thanked the shop owner before Lyney took the lead once again, dragging Y/n to the aquabus station.
They boarded the Navia line and found themselves reminiscing about the recent flooding of the nation at the mention of their friend. The melusine went on with her speech, occasionally catching the interest of the two as she pointed out animals nearby. Y/n let their head rest against Lyney’s shoulder, unable to see the way the tips of his ears turned red.
In the sky, the sun shone brightly– unobstructed by clouds.
“You know…” Lyney started once they’d separated from the rest of the aquabus riders on their way towards the Opera Epiclese, “when we uncovered the whole scheme behind my first show here, I had nightmares for a week straight that you’d been the one drawn.”
He squeezed their hand but didn’t look at them. His eyes were trained forward as they turned away from the rainbow roses lining the path to look at him. Out of the corner of his eye, he could see the frown adorning their lips.
“What brought that up?”
Lyney’s eyes flickered to their before he looked away again and started steering them towards the Icewind Suite installation.
“I figured you’d be home the other day, and when Monsieur Neuviellette barged into your room and you weren’t there…” He trailed off. “I’m not saying you have to tell someone everytime you go out,” he backtracked frantically when he caught Y/n looking away. “It was just, so unlike you to disappear like that.”
“Sorry. For scaring you guys, I mean.”
The two fell silent as they took a seat along the edge of the installation. Lyney set the box of treats between them and Y/n leaned back on their hands to watch the dancing machines.
“Oh, one, I’m supposed to tell you to stop climbing up to my window before you get arrested. Apparently the other day wasn’t the first time father’s caught you.” Lyney nearly choked on a blubber profiterole as his face turned nearly the same color as his vision, making Y/n laugh. “Secondly, why did you come looking for me the other day?”
Lyney stumbled over his words for a minute, still stuck in a coughing fit as he regretted not bringing anything to drink.
“I-” he coughed a bit more, “I wanted to tell you that Lynette and I got a show in Sumeru.”
“Really?” Y/n gasped, clapping their hands together. “That’s amazing, when is it?”
“A few months out, but Lynette and I have to visit the venue sometime next month to make sure everything will work.”
“That sounds fun.”
Y/n took a bite of one of the madeleines, turning back to the sweeping dance. Lyney propped his elbows up on his knees and leaned against his palms, watching them.
They looked over at him from the corner of their eye before inclining their head in confusion.
“What?”
“I want you to come with us.”
“For the show?” Y/n asked around another mouthful of madeleine. They shielded their mouth with their hand before swallowing. “Obviously, if you need me backstage.”
“No, well yes, but I mean next month. I want you to help us make a unique trick for our first international show.” Y/n stopped mid bite as Lyney continued. “I know right now you just come and go as you please, and that’s fine if you want to keep working at the Palais Mermonia, but I want to offer you a proper position in our show.”
Y/n sat up straight and stared at their half eaten madeleine for a moment before popping it into their mouth.
“I’ll think about it,” they said after they finished it.
The answer seemed to satisfy Lyney as the magician smiled and turned to watch the dancing mechanisms. Across from them, the sun began to droop low enough that it washed out the show– its light glancing off the shiny metal and into the audience's eyes. They took this, and the completed sweets, as a sign that it was time to move on.
Lyney once again took the lead, looping his arm around Y/n’s and leading them back to the aquabus station.
Once back in the main court, he dragged them off to hotel debord where they had dinner before he once again dragged them off without an explanation.
“Alright, I wasn’t going to ask, but what’s all this about?” Y/n laughed as the magician dragged them through the court.
Streetlight had already turned on as the sun was hidden behind the high walls of the court. Lyney was no longer holding their arm but had a tight hold on their hand as they raced through the city.
“I haven’t seen you in four days, need to make up for lost time,” he laughed.
Lyney dragged them all the way out of the city before he slowed down again so they could walk side by side. He gently swung their hands back and forth, smiling as they ran their fingers over some of the calluses on his. They followed a practiced path down to the beach as the sun cast a golden glow over the landscape.
Y/n stopped suddenly when they hit the sand, causing Lyney to be yanked back, and took a deep breath. Lyney found himself smiling at this as he took off his shoes and socks.
A gentle tap at their knee lowered Y/n’s gaze to their feet Where Lyney was kneeling.
“What are you doing?” They asked, feeling their face heat up.
The magician grinned and carefully raised one of their feet to his knee where he began to take off their shoe.
“Taking your shoes off.” They yelped and grabbed his shoulders to balance themself as he removed the shoe and sock. “Other one.”
“I can definitely do that myself,” they laughed awkwardly.
“But I’m trying to spoil you,” he hummed as he set their other, now bare, foot down. He wrapped his arms around their legs and rested his chin against their abdomen. “Now how about a swim?”
“Are you trying to get me in my underwear?” They laughed, trying to ignore the heat spreading across their face and down their neck.
Y/n was so preoccupied with their own embarrassment that they missed the red tint that had also begun to cover Lyney’s face.
“If it makes you feel better I can strip first.”
“Ah, you’re serious.”
The realization stunned them, their thoughts running a mile a minute as they wondered if this had been a date in the first place. Not that they minded, but they couldn’t recall Lyney calling it a-
“AH!” they shrieked as Lyney wrapped an arm under their knees and the other around their back.
“Or we could just do this,” he laughed.
They shrieked and flailed as the deceptively strong magician picked them up and carried them over to the soft waves, then tossed them in. Y/n spluttered as they surfaced, wiping the water from their eyes just in time to watch Lyney jump in after them.
The wave hit them in the face, causing them to inhale water and start choking again.
“Are you okay,” he laughed, standing next to them in the water.
He wrapped an arm around them, patting their back as their head hung between them.
“You jerk,” they wheezed. “Now our clothes are wet.”
They sighed and kicked off the seafloor to float on their back, and Lyney joined them. He intertwined their hands so they wouldn’t float apart, and the two lay there watching the sky darken and the stars appear.
“Lyney?”
Y/n’s voice was muffled by the water in his ears.
“Yes?”
“Was this a date?”
The magician swung his feet under him and began to tread water as they’d floated away from shore. Y/n did the same, but grabbed Lyney’s shoulders to stabilize themself leaving the two practically nose to nose.
“No, if it was a date you’d definitely know.”
“And how would I definitely know?” Y/n inclined their head.
“Well for one I would have brought you flowers when I picked you up, two I wouldn’t let you pay for anything-”
“You didn’t let me pay for anything.”
Lyney cleared his throat awkwardly. “And three I would certainly hope you’d remember me asking.”
“So your sister helps you dress up for all your outings with friends? And you always walk arm in arm and pull out their chair?”
“How did you know Lynette helped me pick this out?”
“Lyney, in all the time we’ve known each other I’ve almost exclusively seen you in your show wear. For the first month we knew each other I wasn’t sure you owned anything else, then I just found out you’re a bit of a workaholic,” Y/n chuckled and moved their hands to cup Lyney’s face.
Lyney moved his hands up to their waist.
“This isn’t a date,” he said, causing Y/n to look at him incredulously. “I was going to ask you out on a date when I brought you home,” he grumbled, making Y/n laugh.
They dropped their head to his shoulder as theirs shook with every laugh. Lyney hugged their waist as they moved closer and pulled them back to where he could at least stand.
“I-”
“Nope. I’m still going to ask you, so save your answer for then.”
Y/n pulled back with a wide smile and nodded before the two wadded back to shore.
Lyney used his vision to dry them off, and they headed back into the city– once again hand in hand.
As soon as they arrived back at Y/n’s place, they turned around with an expectant grin. Lyney had to admit that he was less nervous than he’d expected, probably because they’d already made their answer very clear.
He flicked his wrist, and a rainbow rose appeared in his hand. They giggled as they reached for it, but Lyney pulled it back slightly.
“Y/n?”
“Yes?”
“Would you do me the honor of going on a date?”
“I would love to go on a date with you, Lyney.”
Lyney didn’t let them take the rose, moving it away again as they reached for it, and instead tucked it behind their ear.
“How does dinner tomorrow night sound?”
“It sounds perfect,” they hummed as they reached up to hold the hand lingering near their face. “Goodnight, Lyney,” Y/n whispered as they pressed their lips to his cheek.
---
“So-”
Y/n yelped, nearly falling off the stool at their vanity when Lyney spoke from behind them. The magician was perched on their open window sill with one leg crossed over the other and the day’s Steambird in his hands.
“Good morning,” he grinned at them. “Anyways, maybe it was a date.”
He stepped into their room and handed them the Steambird.
There, on the front page, was a picture of them watching the Icewind Suite. Lyney was leaning towards them with his chin in his palm and a lovesick look in his eyes and Y/n was watching the dance. The headline read Magic and Justice on a date?!
“Lynette?” Y/n sighed.
“Lynette.”

Kiss from a Rose_Part 2
A.N: A three part series featuring Neuvillette x Reader!
Genshin Impact MasterList
------
“This…is Monsieur Neuvillette? You are quite certain?”
Paimon was the first to break the silence. You, the Traveler, Paimon, Navia and the twins and Freminet were at the lake that lead down to the Melusine’s village. In lieu of all the drama that Fontaine was in with the missing ludex, the seven of you decided to meet here. Currently, the otter was sitting in the water with everyone was staring at him.
He calmly looked back, dipping his head once.
"Hold on! Did he understand me?" Paimon asked.
Lyney clapped his hands once, “Well, stranger things have happened!”
“I’m just glad to know that he is okay….” Freminet murmured.
“But how?” Navia questioned.
“That is unimportant.” You dismissed, “Right now, we need to figure out how to turn him back.”
“Unless, what turned him into an otter could turn him back.” Lynette offered.
“I thought about that.” You nodded,  “Through trial and error, I did try to retrace Neuvillette’s steps, and it reached into the village. But then he started flipping out. Whatever, it was, he did not want anyone going into that area. So I had it quarantine off. Since he cannot speak, we do not know precisely what to look for. And if we try, we might end up in the same position.”
The otter splashed once as if in agreement with you.
“A wise decision.” Navia nodded, “But we will need to fix this before our entire country falls apart. The Steambird has now taken to publish conspiracy theories on his disappearance. Imagine what they would print if he showed up as an otter.”
You swore you heard Neuvillette sigh.
You rubbed your temple, “I don’t want to imagine.”
Navia continued, “Lady Furina is doing all she can to divert the public’s gaze. If nothing else, she is making herself a target for Charolette’s teeth.”
Paimon sighed, “That in and of itself deserves accolade.”
“But rest assured, we are ready to do whatever necessary to bring Monsieur Neuvillette back to normal.”  Navia stated.
“Yeah, don’t worry, Monsieur Neuvillette, we will find a cure for you!!” Paimon cheered.
“....”
“So, any ideas?” Freminet inquired quietly.

That had been three days ago, and no one seemed to be able to figure out any kind of plan. They tried all sorts of medicine and potions, but nothing seemed to work. By the fourth day, all of you were back at the lake for another meeting.
“This is getting worrisome now.” The Traveler murmured.
“I agree! Come on, guys, there has to be something.”  Navia cried frustrated, “I can use my connections to get whatever it is, as long as I know what to get!”
A silence descended.
“Well…..” Lyney hummed.
You turned to the magician with wide, expectant eyes.
“....I do have an idea, but you may not like it.”
“As long as it turns Neuvillette back to human form! It’s fine! What is it?”
“It’s quite unconventional….”
“You're doing an awful lot of setup.” Paimon remarked.
“Perhaps, a kiss of true love can turn him back. In the stories, it usually turns a beast back into his princely form.” Lyney was dead serious as he looked at you without a hint of a smile.
You stared at him a good minute. Traveler and Paimon looked at each other as Navia gave a long-suffering sigh.
You finally turned Lynette and Freminet, “Can I hit him?”
“Sure. It will save me from having to come out of power saving mode myself.”
A dip of the head was all from Freminet.
You reached for Lyney fully intended to slap him upside the head, but he dodged nimbly as he spoke, “My lady, please I beg you a minute to explain!”
You have finally grabbed at his clothes, snatched his hat and began playing keep away with it.
“Not my hat! Lynette, Freminet, help me!! Traveler!!”
The Traveler discreetly looked away, as Paimon only folded her arms, unimpressed.
“You started this foolishness!” Lynette returned calmly.
“Look, we have no idea what turned him into an otter in the first place! It could be anything! Which means we need to think outside the box. Nothing conventional has worked so far! So whose to say that this isn’t some magical one off?”
You eyed the magician for a long moment.
“At this point, we need to try everything. Even I admit, it sounds like a setup from a storybook, but I just thought I’d put it out there. We aren’t going to give up. All of us will continue looking for a solution, but I’m just trying to present all options. Even the unconventional ones.”
You gave a sigh, “Well, I do appreciate it. I really couldn’t tell if you were trying for a joke at this time or not.”
“I’m a magician not a comedian, my lady! With tension being so high, I would never take advantage of it.”
You gave him back his hat, and he welcomed it back like an old friend.
“Well, I shall keep it in mind. In the meantime, what other practical solutions are there?” You asked the group.
—-
You gave a sigh as you entered the house and headed for the bathroom. You slipped off the backpack of water you had used to carry otter Neuvillette in. Unzipping the bag, you placed the sack on the ground. It had a net on top to let in air, so he wouldn’t suffocate. You pulled off the top before turning and filling up the tub.
Then you sat down with an apology, “I’m sorry. It seems it’s another day without a solution.”
The otter only shook its head.
“You're quite patient even during this ordeal. You never fail to amaze me, my dear.” You murmured, reaching out to plant a kiss on the head. Your lips lingered for a moment before you pulled back with a smile, “We’ll figure this out! Tomorrow is a new day!!”
Once the tub was filled and Neuvillette settled you, you eventually headed to bed.
Tomorrow was a new day, you reminded yourself.
You would see Neuvillette through this.
