The funniest thing on my dash right now is folks who are familiar with The Untamed (i.e., the 2019 TV series) only via GIFsets reblogged by their mutuals honestly being under the impression that it’s, like, a period romantic comedy or something and going “wait, that guy is an evil wizard?”

Happy February! I don't know how to do a request? But I saw you were op3ning request no2, so May I request First Disciple WWX, or Lady Mo? Whichever you are inspired to write!

"The Jin are hosting a night hunt?" Lady Xuanyu asks eagerly.
Sizhui had gone to his step mother for help updating the patrols while everyone's away at the night hunt because she was eerily good at minutia like that, knowing exactly how to balance disciple's strength to compensate for their weaknesses. Jin Guangyao had that same skill, so maybe it was a Jin thing.
He hopes Jin Ling starts take more after his uncle and aunt on his father's side. He's brilliant with a bow and decent with a sword, but can't strategize to save his life. Sizhui learned that the hard way when he was assigned to his team on the last interclan night hunt.
"They do every year?" Jingyi offers, voicing the confusion that Sizhui feels.
"Oh, right," Lady Xuanyu frowns. "I never really went."
Indignation wells up inside of him, but he does his best not to let it show. Jingyi isn't as successful, considering his scowl, but Sizhui doesn't blame him. Lady Xuanyu is brilliant and kind and strong but Jin Guangshan hadn't had a use for her until he needed her to keep Uncle and Jin Guangyao apart. So he'd left her to rot in the Mo household.
Sizhui isn't stupid. Lady Xuanyu rapidly gained weight, strength, and power as soon as she was out of the Mo household.
No one gains weight after coming to Cloud Recesses. Lady Xuanyu does her best to hide it, but it's obvious that she, like most people, doesn't enjoy the food.
She likes sweet things. Her favorites are hard little pieces of pepper candy that he brings her from Canyi. She makes him promise not to tell his father, even though Sizhui really doesn't think he'd care, but he likes that he and Lady Xuanyu have a secret.
"We're going, right?" she asks.
"Right," he says, suddenly uncertain, "unless you don't want-"
"I do!" she interrupts, "my sh-sister is there! Jiang Yanli was so nice to me and I barely got the chance to spend any time with her."
"It's too bad her son doesn't take after her," Jingyi grumbles, unknowingly echoing Sizhui's thoughts from earlier.
He feels a little bad. It's not Jin Ling's fault that he's thirteen.
