None Of You Know What Haiku Are
I'm going to preface this by saying that i am not an expert in ANY form of poetry, just an enthusiast. Also, this post is... really long. Too long? Definitely too long. Whoops! I love poetry.
If you ask most English-speaking people (or haiku-bot) what a haiku is, they would probably say that it's a form of poetry that has 3 lines, with 5, and then 7, and then 5 syllables in them. That's certainly what I was taught in school when we did our scant poetry unit, but since... idk elementary school when I learned that, I've learned that that's actually a pretty inaccurate definition of haiku. And I think that inaccurate definition is a big part of why most people (myself included until relatively recently!) think that haiku are kind of... dumb? unimpressive? simple and boring? I mean, if you can just put any words with the right number of syllables into 3 lines, what makes it special?
Well, let me get into why the 5-7-5 understanding of haiku is wrong, and also what makes haiku so special (with examples)!
First of all, Japanese doesn't have syllables! There's a few different names for what phonetic units actually make up the language- In Japanese, they're called "On" (音), which translates to "sound", although English-language linguists often call it a "mora" (μ), which (quoting from Wikipedia here) "is a basic timing unit in the phonology of some spoken languages, equal to or shorter than a syllable." (x) "Oh" is one syllable, and also one mora, whereas "Oi" has one syllable, but two moras. "Ba" has one mora, "Baa" has two moras, etc. In English, we would say that a haiku is made up of three lines, with 5-7-5 syllables in them, 17 syllables total. In Japanese, that would be 17 sounds.
For an example of the difference, the word "haiku", in English, has 2 syllables (hai-ku), but in Japanese, はいく has 3 sounds (ha-i-ku). "Christmas" has 2 syllables, but in Japanese, "クリスマス" (ku-ri-su-ma-su) is 5 sounds! that's a while line on its own! Sometimes the syllables are the same as the sounds ("sushi" is two syllables, and すし is two sounds), but sometimes they're very different.
In addition, words in Japanese are frequently longer than their English equivalents. For example, the word "cuckoo" in Japanese is "ほととぎす" (hototogisu).
Now, I'm sure you're all very impressed at how I can use an English to Japanese dictionary (thank you, my mother is proud), but what does any of this matter? So two languages are different. How does that impact our understanding of haiku?
Well, if you think about the fact that Japanese words are frequently longer than English words, AND that Japanese counts sounds and not syllables, you can see how, "based purely on a 17-syllable counting method, a poet writing in English could easily slip in enough words for two haiku in Japanese” (quote from Grit, Grace, and Gold: Haiku Celebrating the Sports of Summer by Kit Pancoast Nagamura). If you're writing a poem using 17 English syllables, you are writing significantly more content than is in an authentic Japanese haiku.
(Also not all Japanese haiku are 17 sounds at all. It's really more of a guideline.)
Focusing on the 5-7-5 form leads to ignoring other strategies/common conventions of haiku, which personally, I think are more interesting! Two of the big ones are kigo, a season word, and kireji, a cutting word.
Kigo are words/phrases/images associated with a particular season, like snow for winter, or cherry blossoms for spring. In Japan, they actually publish reference books of kigo called saijiki, which is basically like a dictionary or almanac of kigo, describing the meaning, providing a list of related words, and some haiku that use that kigo. Using a a particular kigo both grounds the haiku in a particular time, but also alludes to other haiku that have used the same one.
Kireji is a thing that doesn't easily translate to English, but it's almost like a spoken piece of punctuation, separating the haiku into two parts/images that resonate with and add depth to each other. Some examples of kireji would be "ya", "keri", and "kana." Here's kireji in action in one of the most famous haiku:
古池や 蛙飛び込む 水の音 (Furu ike ya kawazu tobikomu mizu no oto) (The old pond — A frog jumps in The sound of the water.)
You can see the kireji at the end of the first line- 古池や literally translates to "old pond ya". The "ya" doesn't have linguistic meaning, but it denotes the separation between the two focuses of the haiku. First, we are picturing a pond. It's old, mature. The water is still. And then there's a frog! It's spring and he's fresh and new to the world! He jumps into the pond and goes "splash"! Wowie! When I say "cutting word", instead of say, a knife cutting, I like to imagine a film cut. The camera shows the pond, and then it cuts to the frog who jumps in.
English doesn't really have a version of this, at least not one that's spoken, but in English language haiku, people will frequently use a dash or an ellipses to fill the same role.
Format aside, there are also some conventions of the actual content, too. They frequently focus on nature, and are generally use direct language without metaphor. They use concrete images without judgement or analysis, inviting the reader to step into their shoes and imagine how they'd feel in the situation. It's not about describing how you feel, so much as it's about describing what made you feel.
Now, let's put it all together, looking at a haiku written Yosa Buson around 1760 (translated by Harold G. Henderson)
The piercing chill I feel: my dead wife's comb, in our bedroom, under my heel
We've got our kigo with "the piercing chill." We read that, and we imagine it's probably winter. It's cold, and the kind of cold wind that cuts through you. There's our kireji- this translation uses a colon to differentiate our two images: the piercing chill, and the poet stepping on his dead wife's comb. There's no descriptions of what the poet is feeling, but you can imagine stepping into his shoes. You can imagine the pain he's experiencing in that moment on your own.
"But tumblr user corvidcall!" I hear you say, "All the examples you've used so far are Japanese haiku that have been translated! Are you implying that it's impossible for a good haiku to be written in English?" NO!!!!! I love English haiku! Here's a good example, which won first place in the 2000 Henderson haiku contest, sponsored by the Haiku Society of America:
meteor shower . . . a gentle wave wets our sandals
When you read this one, can you imagine being in the poet's place? Do you feel the surprise as the tide comes in? Do you feel the summer-ness of the moment? Haiku are about describing things with the senses, and how you take in the world around you. In a way, it's like the poet is only setting a scene, which you inhabit and fill with meaning based on your own experiences. You and I are imagining different beaches, different waves, different people that make up the "our" it mentioned.
"Do I HAVE to include all these things when I write haiku? If I include all these things, does that mean my haiku will be good?" I mean, I don't know. What colors make up a good painting? What scenes make up a good play? It's a creative medium, and nobody can really tell you you can't experiment with form. Certainly not me! But I think it's important to know what the conventions of the form are, so you can appreciate good examples of it, and so you can know what you're actually experimenting with. And I mean... I'm not the poetry cops. But if you're not interested in engaging with the actual conventions and limitations of the form, then why are you even using that form?
I'll leave you with one more English language haiku, which is probably my favorite haiku ever. It was written by Tom Bierovic, and won first place at the 2021 Haiku Society of America Haiku Awards
a year at most . . . we pretend to watch the hummingbirds

I've always really liked DC's in-house choice of referring to their various superhero groupings as "families," but it has gotten a little frustrating recently with people both in canon and in fandom seeming to forget that families aren't just a parental-unit-and-kids formation. They're complicated, and a lot of the DC families are too messy to fit into that neat little nuclear family mode.
Which is to say... here's some scattered thoughts/summaries about how these families are actually structured in canon, because I think it's interesting:
Supers -- The smaller, more traditional Superfamily (Clark, Lois, Kara, Kon, etc.) is a pretty traditional Midwestern nuclear family, with Jimmy Olsen filling the role of close family friend/goofy neighbor sidekick (in the Silver Age, he was Kara's would-be suitor) and Steel feeling more like part of Clark's personal circle of friends. The recent line up, though, with Jon, the twins, Kong and Nat? Starts to feel more like some old dynasty or noble house, complete with fostered foundlings and the Steels acting almost like knights under a noble's banner, possibly reflective of what the House of El would have been on Krypton.
Arrows -- Might currently be the closet to a traditional nuclear family structure. You've got Ollie and Dinah, their younger sisters, Ollie's adopted and biological children, and Ollie's granddaughter through Roy, plus by some counts Roy's co-parent and her sister as "in-laws." Bonnie and Cissie King-Jones are adjacent to but not technically "part" of the family, though I believe it's implied at one point that Ollie might also be Cissie's bio-dad. Pretty straightforward, these guys are actually family and they act like it, for good and ill.
Shazam Family -- Also a literal, actual family. Not originally, the original golden age "Marvel Family" was considerably more complicated and only Billy and Mary were full siblings, but nowadays the whole point of the modern Shazam family is that they're foster siblings united by familial love and that's fantastic. Meanwhile your average Black Adam story is 75% angsty family drama, 25% Egyptian mythology references.
Flashes -- Technically closer to three nuclear families (the Allens, the Wests and the Garricks; four if you include the Quicks), two of whom are united by marriage and all of whom are bound by the Speedforce, which, given its semi-spiritual connections to things like Speedster afterlives, can act almost like a religious force that connects them to the additional members like Avery, Circuit Breaker and Max as Bart's foster-dad. They're a big, sprawling tree with more cousins than siblings, the kind of family that functionally has a reunion every Christmas and Thanksgiving.
Lanterns -- Now these guys are the exception that proves my point about the whole 'family' thing not being straightforward. The lanterns aren't a family, they're a corps. Soldiers. Space cops. Comrades-in-arms. They respect each other, have each other's backs, might even like or care about each other, but those last two are optional, and they don't have the same kind of assumed obligations towards each other that a family would have. They're friends and co-workers, not family, but that doesn't mean their relationships are less significant, they're just different.
Wonders -- Roughly half of them are either one of Hippolyta's daughters (Diana, Donna, Nubia pre-Crisis) or related to them through the gods (Cassie), and the other half (Artemis, Yara, modern-age Nubia) use sister as a term of endearment more in a utopian lesbian commune kind of way. I think they brought Steve Trevor back recently? He's basically the Ken in this equation and perfectly fine with that role. None of which should be surprising if you've seen Professor Marston and the Wonder Women.
Bats -- This is the one that people get really wrong when they try to force it into a traditional family structure. Don't let WFA fool you, the Bats are and have always been way more a snarled mess of tangled interpersonal relationships than they've ever been a cohesive family. Whether Dick is Bruce's son or his brother depends on what era you're talking about, and the former reading is much more recent than you think -- as in "started cropping up in the early 2000s" recent. Barbara is both Cassandra's sister and her mother. Duke and Steph both have living parents and neither of them want or would ever dream of treating Bruce like their dad; Tim was the same way until his dad died. None of the Robins ever lived in the mansion together, nor did Cass. Babs considered Jean-Paul Valley her brother and Huntress is so close to Tim she once hallucinated him calling her Big Sister. They're a beautiful mess of people finding places where their broken edges fit together into something that works for them and trying to reduce it down to a cozy nuclear family is just so goddamn reductive and lazy.
Blue Beetles -- Are only tangentially related to each other. Seriously, they never even get direct mentoring, each one just takes over when the previous one dies and works on completely different rules from the other two. They're complete strangers bound by a legacy and that's honestly pretty fun.
Zataras -- There's only three of them and they're literally a father, daughter and cousin.
Martians -- Not really a family because there's only the two of them, but an interesting case where the two survivors of what was functionally a war of mutually assured destruction came together in an attempt to find some peace in the aftermath of what they'd lost.
Titans -- The JLA and JSA aren't really in the "family" category, but the Titans lean into it hard, mostly because they're a textbook found family. They don't mirror a nuclear family structure, they're simply a group of people who came together to form a mutual support network. They're the idealized college friends you grew into your own with, some of them childhood companions and others you only met once you leave home for the first time, but all of them friends that you manage to maintain contact with for life, with everyone coming back together even as you scatter and do your own things.
Young Justice -- Meanwhile, this team is the chaotic group of misfits you hung out with when you were a teenager, especially when you were just starting to be allowed to act without adult supervision. You drive each other crazy, none of you know you're all queer as fuck, and you'd fight a bear for any of them even if they asked you not to. They'd probably be insulted if you tried to call them a family. They come out here to get away from their families, thank you very much.

My sister has been living in Ireland the past few years and there's some pretty prevalent misconceptions about how America works, especially when it comes to politics, which are the basis for a lot of the feeling people from other countries have about the number of Americans that agree with decisions being made by our government. So here's some important differences that people from outside the US seem to frequently not know: 1: First off, Americans do not vote on individual laws. That's not a thing here. Or, at least, extremely rarely and in very specific circumstances. The only voting we can do is for elected officials. We do not directly purpose, vote on, or in any way control the laws that are made and we have no ability to control, get rid of, or change the position or power of any official once they're elected. We can only elect them and hope they do things we want. They have no actual obligation to and we have no way to enforce it. 2: We can only vote for one person for each position and we are given, AT MOST, two candidates to choose from. We do not have any control over who those candidates are. We do not have a ranking system for who our top choice, second choice, third choice, etc is. We get one vote for one person. 3:In the case of presidential election, each person's vote is not counted equally. Depending on which state you are in, your vote can be worth 5x the amount of a vote in another state. Most of the higher value states are the most right wing states. It is possible to win an election for president with roughly 30% of the total votes. 4: Out of our 3 branches of government, only 2 of them are publicly elected. That means the people have no say in who is in 1/3rd of the controlling forces of our government at all. The United States government structure was made with the express purpose of keeping any kind of power out of the hands of the common person. This is explicitly stated in much of the history of our country's founding. Laws being made frequently have next to no support from the population and are often met with resistance, but we have no real channels through which to change them and this resistance is often met with violence or even lethal force from our occupying army of a police force. Polls show that recent laws such as trans bans, the repealing of our abortion protections, and book banning are disagreed with strongly by the vast majority of the country. We are not choosing these laws. They are being chosen for us. Against our will and to our strong and loud outrage. When we say "we don't control what our government does", we don't mean "there are some elements we don't control". We mean "we control basically no aspect of our government or any of the decisions made by it"

Propaganda:
For Vanoe: "vanitas promised his canon love interest, as a romantic gesture, that if she started to become a monster, he would kill her so she wouldn't have to suffer. and then later when discussing how vanitas will eventually turn into a monster himself, he said he wants noe to kill him when that time comes. pretty yuri. also i'm a lesbian and i like them"
"Idk they have such a homoerotic shoujo manga dynamic but they're guys. Or maybe not that much but you gotta admit this would be exquisite yuri if they were girls. Noé the gothic romance heroine etc etc"
For Wenzhou: "Basically in their family unit Wen Kexing is the wife but Zhou Zishu is the mom. Also there are lots of genderbends of them around but the best ones are those where Wen Kexing goes super hard on femme but Zhou Zishu deadass has the same personality and appearance - like shoutout to those artists/writers u r the real ones. Also lesbian Zishu still being called "husband" by Wen Kexing, mwah chef's kiss! He would SO be a butch."
"Wen Kexing is compared to a wife twice in the show and at least once in the book iirc. Canon malewife + wears red eyeshadow and rocks a red robe in his Ghost Valley Master getup + his husband is an emo assassin, they are so incredibly yuri even if they're guys"
For Ineffable Husbands: "Well due to neil mentioning that they was plans for a fem presenting 1960s scene of the two of them that never ended up happening, there's a lot of fanart of that. Plus, they are an angel and a demon, and both technically don't follow the gender rules of humans and many other species on earth, so while they do present very masculine throughout the show, they could be any gender and therefore they seem very fitting for this.(I do apologize as I don't quite understand what guy Yuri is despite your definition so I am guessing and have no clue if they count."
"Looks like m/m on first glance but they don't actually really have gender and Crowley dresses as a woman for a good few years canonically"
"theyre male presenting in the show but they dont really have gender so they could be wlw if they wanted to"
"While both characters spend most of their time presenting as male, they are supernatural beings without any real sex or gender. Crowley appears as a woman multiple times, and one scrapped scene included both Aziriphale and Crowley as women in the 1960s. Additionally, it’s very common to find “Ineffable Wives” fanworks, with both characters appearing as women. As well as having been an immensely popular fandom ship for many years, it has been confirmed that Aziriphale and Crowley are canonically in love with each other."
"Regularly turned into women in fanart. Both Aziraphale and Crowley are incredibly gender. They have been together in some sort of way for 6000 years. Heavy yearning. Cringefail. Divorced and married at the same time. Literally an angel and a demon. What more could you want?"
"theyre literally genderless and can be anything ever!!!"
"Their genders are ineffable and they have hopelessly pined for centuries"

On the Characteristics of the Risen, and the Character of their King
The Risen King... Finally, a concept which once only existed in whispers and a single cipher 0 card, has made it into a Fire Emblem video game! Just the mobile game, sure, but it counts. And the Fell Exalt Chrom unit is so fascinating to me that I have not only this, but at least two other meta posts in the pipeline about it. I am so normal about him.
To kick things off... let’s talk about exactly what Risen King Chrom is, and also how he’s doing mentally. (Badly. He’s doing very badly.)
---
Real quick, we have to get one snag out of the way: the mechanism by which a Risen is made.
Shadows of Valentia introduced us to a prototypical version of the Risen created by Forneus, known as Death Masks. They’re made by fitting a dead body with a mask containing insects known as thanatophages. The thanatophages prevent the body’s decay and assert physical control over them in a manner not unlike certain real world parasites that control the muscular movements of their hosts.
I’ve seen a handful of my colleagues (lol) assume there are modern Risen made the same way. BUT. The Risen which exist during the events of Awakening are explicitly NOT Death Masks. During the xenologue Death’s Embrace, Brady states that “In the future, our wounded often turned to Risen just as we were tryin' to heal 'em.” This has to mean that Grima is transforming the dead and dying remotely, using some kind of magic; and at the height of their power, they may be either passively creating or deliberately casting an area of effect that turns dead bodies automatically. There’s nothing to suggest any Risen are manually created with thanatophages, or that Grima is manifesting thanatophages for that purpose.
Alas, we cannot do insect body horror with RK Chrom while also staying true to canon. But moving on...
---
Fell Chrom is, to make an understatement, very unique among the Risen. And to discuss why he’s unique, we first have to define what’s typical.
Behaviourally, typical Risen don’t appear to have sentience outside of their competency in wielding weapons and their tendency to form loose hierarchies based on individual strength. They’re incredibly aggressive by nature; it’s like their only innate drive is to fight and kill humans. Most of them are not capable of speech, though the stronger Risen Chiefs can grind out single words or even short phrases, which are usually just related to wanting to kill things. When being actively controlled through dark magic, they appear capable of basic tactics, though whether that comes from them or the person controlling them is unclear.
There’s no doubt that Fell Chrom is a Risen. He’s certainly got the appearance, the purple miasma, and the vocal distortion for it. Not to mention the giant glowing fatal wound in his side. Man certainly isn't alive.
He’s evidently still subject to control via dark magic too, if the fact that he was forced to war against his own country is anything to go by.
Fell Chrom also has the strong aggressive drive typical of Risen. Nearly all of his dialogue in battle situations suggests this. In order of increasing intensity: There’s the turn action quote “Find me an enemy”, which depending on your mood can read as either resignation or as chomping at the bit. There’s hostile level up quotes like “You shall count yourself...among the dead” and “You would...block my path”. His special trigger quotes are yet worse. He yells “This is your fate”, “No resistance”, and “Useless effort” with a fury you don’t expect from Chrom—and for the fourth one, he just shouts “DEATH”. And his voice clips for attacking aren’t words or even anywhere in the realm of a regular human noise, they're just distorted, monstrous growling.
But unlike with typical Risen, aggression is not all RK Chrom is. He can walk around the Askran castle and be around others without constantly trying to attack people. And in fact, he’s aware of and bothered by how violent being Risen makes him. One of his status page quotes is begging someone to “back away!” in a panic, as though he’s afraid of hurting them. It’s possible the violent instincts Risen have mainly only come into play for him in battle situations, or possibly when he’s in a state of heightened emotion.
And while RK Chrom displays the kind of difficulty with speech you would expect of a Risen, with his slow halting pace and gravelly tone, he speaks in complete, coherent sentences and displays remarkable clarity about who he is and what’s happening around him. He’s no husk. Chrom's mind is intact.
That is massive. That is completely unique among Risen, and deeply, deeply horrifying. Because even though he can think, he is by no means in control.
---
If the Forging Bonds supports are anything to go by, Chrom did try to resist Grima, at least in the beginning. From C through to A he moves from disbelief to outright despair at the very prospect of warring against Ylisse. But by the S support—which necessarily takes place years after the others due to how far Grima’s campaign has progressed—he’s given up. So much of his dialogue is mourning the past, or repeating Grima's belief that everyone is doomed and nothing can change. He’s not fighting it anymore. He's resigned to his fate as Grima’s executioner.
And why wouldn’t he be? After the initial confusion from being resurrected passed, he was lucid. He was fully mentally present when he was murdering his allies and slaughtering his own people. And between the deep, fundamental drive to kill and the direct influence of Grima on his actions... There wasn’t a damn thing he could do to stop himself. He couldn’t protect a thing.
Even now that he’s free of Grima’s influence in Askr, he doesn’t exactly do anything to avoid being an instrument of violence. Otherwise he wouldn’t be a playable unit. Everyone he’s ever cared about is dead, and he’s been nothing more than a monster and an instrument of violence for years. Why not fight. It’s the only thing he has left.
This Chrom is a deeply broken man. Angry and utterly hopeless. It’s no wonder after all he’s been through.
And yet... there’s still a spark there. For all his rigid insistence that Grima’s bleak outlook is the truth, his ally growth quote speaks volumes: “If this power were mine...back then...”
If fate is so immutable and hope is so pointless, why deal in what-ifs? Why wonder about what could have changed? And he’s still trying to protect people he cares about from himself; why else would he yell for others to “back away” when he feels he might attack them?
Through all the years of horror and the terrible curse of undeath... he’s still Chrom.

I wish you would write a fic where Star and Stripe won
Sometimes Cate can't help but wonder why people look at her, the US Number One hero, a woman who's 'patrol route' is almost half of the United States (with Empathy and her team covering the other half), and thinks that she'd be anything close to an easy fight, or possible to easily beat.
(Though also in the case of Empathy's team she's pretty sure it's less a team and more people also helping cover up the fact Empathy is kind of terrifying. Gorgeous and very nice, but also fucking terrifying. She sometimes wonders how that doctor husband of Empathy handles it, but Ken is also kind of terrifying)
(She loves dealing with them, they're great for going out with)
But she was able to go to Japan with her brothers for a very good reason; she's very, very good at her job, and thus able to go handle things quickly and helpfully (plus All Might is her former mentor and a friend and she can't let him hang out to dry).
Also that whole, reality warper thing.
That you know, makes it incredibly easy to defeat a severally traumatized and apparently dealing with a very weird form of multiple personality disorder (though does it count if it's basically a form of possession?).
Shimura, Shigaraki and All For One?
You're now unconscious.
Her only real regret is damn near dropping the kid in the ocean because Aaron had to shoot the creepy genetic abomintion.
Oh well he's fine and All Might can figure out some way of fixing the kid.

Regarding the five star four star and 2 three stars for each unit thing they tend to do my biggest wish is for himeru/kohaku and tatsumi/mayoi centre. Idk how to explain it but hiiro and rinne were the focus of the main story and aira and niki felt like they got a bit of character from that too (more than their other 2 members at least) so this just kinda feels. Right? I've seen people theorise that they'll address kaname or that he'll wake up and I don't doubt that logic, I just hope if so kohaku and mayoi can be of some significance. I think kohaku and mayoi are decent to bring attention to because despite himeru trying to be distant at first I think he definitely is most fond of kohaku, and don't ask me about tatsumi and mayoi you're talking to a ttmy shipper I'll be here all day. Basically I just think if himeru and tatsumi were to go through the horrors their unit mates would be there for them but those two in particular somewhat understand them a bit better. Before anyone tells me these 4 were in the romantic date scout I know. I've simply decided to remove it from my memory because I could never hate a story more than that one.
I've just ranted about alkakurei to you now. It's good to be back I guess
Im hoping for niki to have a really big moment in the tour personally, as well as aira, in a different light than what we've seen so far. I just...wish i cared more for them than i really do. And I wish i could make myself care, but alas, i can live with it just fine actually. The card distribution, well, im trying to keep track of when they've had cards last already/who's still due. Tatsumi still needs a ts2 so im counting him out of the possible tour 5stars (could be a 4star), but everyone else i think is eligible from that perspective. Oh......ohhhh.....it just came to mind, but you know how they did the altered and graduation tours? Tatsumi's ts2 could totally be running during the alkakurei tour, and be related to the story in that manner. Im willing to bet on this actually, nevermind, he's definitely getting a tour 5star in the gacha. And kohaku getting his fs2 then as well would be so cruel...higgles. rip alkakureiPs. Himemayo tour 5stars sounds plausible. But so does amagi bros to parallel their main story 5stars, or any other combination... idkidk im going to stop speculating until we have more information. Um. Checkmate anime is coming out first and i will be focusing my attention and obsession there, sorry. My knightspilled checkmateholic eichip swag.
Im not sure if you meant you actually hate romantic date /srs or if it was said in a "omg i hate x thing its gonna be the only thing i think about for days" way. I feel like you meant it /srs but im personally a fan of the story poking fun at fandom behavior, giving into and critiquing at the same time, as well as the insights into himeru's psyche. The game with affinity points from the other characters is just in himeru's head and a manifestation of his subconscious, where he thinks no one's love for him can grow as he doesnt let them actually know Him, the person beyond the himeru persona. Only tatsumi who loves everyone could still love him. And thats also pissing him off.
They both approach and view things, relationships, motivation etc so differently, a lot of himeru's internal monologues are filled with "negative" feelings (jealousy, pride, paranoia etc. Even the earliest we know of him is that he ran away from home because his dad remarried and he couldnt accept it, he's been like this forever. And yet, these feelings arent fitting with the perfect ido persona, so he bottles them up, with the occasional slip ups. Himeru's presence and slow opening up in crazy:b of all units, the group driven by their feelings and desires, is so so important to me.) whereas tatsumi just...has so much love and acceptance (although as much as they're an important part of his character, it's just as important that he also has his own wishes and desires and he does act on them, moreso than himeru at least. Like his hobby of driving recklessly, which he doesnt do because he cant drive well, but because he wants to do it like that and to experience the fun even if it's unconventional or incomprehensible to others). And this gap in their mentalities and approaches to life is scary for himeru. It's a hundred times harder to love and save another than to hate or break someone down (paraphrasing from another enstars quote lmao), i can empathize with himeru having complicated feelings about tatsumi's character that he doesnt understand himself, so he defaults to calling him unpleasant rather than having to unpack it. Let aside that beyond the difference in approaches they also have a complicated past, it's easier to just blame tatsumi who can take it seemingly unscathed. I think romantic date is fun to read both before and after having experienced obbligato...especially moreso after, when youre aware of the foreshadowing and further developments (this has been my experience with most of akira's gacha stories he's written in es2 era)
Im not a tthm shipper in the traditional sense of "i want to see them date" cuz i think what they have going on is much more fascinating and nuanced than that and it'd do the relationship a disservice imo. I was gonna say it's also fun to put these characters who struggle with understanding each other and actual romance and love in general actually in every sense of the word together but thats kind of the entire cast. A lot of my favorite dynamics at least, that have had varying degrees of success and development. However, it is something i enjoy, obviously, so i will always remain fond of romantic date...wah i rambled about this for a very long time, i'll stop now!

Hearing that you play OPTC... What's your favorite Sabo unit in there?
You know that I can't pick only one favorite Sabo unit now (& I'm not saying that because I'm indecisive). 🤭
I'm honestly going to do it like this:
2 Favorite Non Sugo units
2 Favorite Sugo Units
There's a few that I'm not counting, as listed in this post here. I wanted to include honorable mentions (1 non Sugo & 1 Sugo) as well. But I can't fit more pics or animations & I don't have much to say about those two. So I'm going to put them in a different post as well.
Anyway, here are my favorites that I have & like. They're not in any order by the way!
First Favorite Non Sugo Unit:
Bitter Refinement/Sweet Dignity
Tumblr media
These two are one of the very first Treasure Map event units we ever got in the game, & it's honestly an endearing unit. I remember having this in my team along with the Christmas Cavendish unit that I also got from Treasure Map. I personally loved the theme & aesthetic. The outfit is lovely, especially the addition of the little dragon on the tie.
I was surprised to know that they gave this unit additional abilities later on if you raised his level limit. He was actually one of the very first units to be given additional abilities. Raising it to the max basically had given his special ability the additional effect to heal the team with 15,000 HP.
Speaking of his special, the animation is really cute despite being on the shorter side. Just look at that smile!
Tumblr media
Currently, I use him whenever he is a boosted unit for an event or whenever Valentine's Day comes around. Personally, I wish they made a figure of this specific unit holding the plate of sweets he has in the art because I just love it so much!
Second Favorite Non Sugo Unit:
An Unlikely Alliance/Back to Back Fire Fists
Tumblr media
I have to admit, the more I look at Stampede Sabo in general, the more fond I am of the outfit he's wearing. But yeah, this is the one Stampede Sabo unit we have in this game & I just love using him whenever I can.
He basically boosts the attack of three character types, & he's yet to get any additional abilities for his level limit as of now. Still, I do enjoy using him on teams I make up for fun & when he's a boosted character in events.
His special animation is pretty short compared to others, but it does look very nice overall.
Tumblr media
A part of me kind of wished he was a Sugo Unit. I just think him being voiced would've been nice. But I'm more than fine with him being a Clash Unit (even though I struggled a bit to get him several times to raise his level limit).
Alright, now for the Sugo Units.
First Favorite Sugo Unit:
Brotherly Bond/Fiery Bond/Declaring Battle Against the Gods
Tumblr media
Yes, all three of these are technically the same unit, but they're separated in the character log. This is because the first two came out first. We got the super evolution of the unit later on (last year actually). The fact that it also changes the typing of the unit is amusing. It's actually one of several super evolutions to do that.
But if you were to ask me which one of these three is my favorite, it would actually have to be the super evolution.
I absolutely adore this unit so much, even though he's not considered good in the current meta. A lot of people on my friends list there like to use him as friend captain & that makes me happy to see. Pretty sure it either has to do with the fact that their teams are the types he boosts or they like his super type special.
Also, seeing him all angry in the art & the animation just gets my heart feeling a certain way. I just love a man who will do anything for those who are close to him, okay?
Tumblr media
Though I will admit that his optional effect isn't too drastic though (I'll post it later).
Second Favorite Sugo Unit:
Reunion with His Little Brother/Flame to Protect His Little Brother
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This unit is one of the Anniversary Units. Still a pretty recent unit in the game too as he's only been around for about 8 months or so.
It's safe to say that I have a lot of love for this unit in particular. Though I'll be honest, there's another unit that's tied with this one. But I'll talk about that unit in the next post I do.
Not only is it referencing a moment that honestly makes me cry, it's also a really wonderful unit that I enjoy using as Captain. This especially goes considering that I like using the units he boosts.
He has quite a wonderful animation too! Compared to other animations, this one had a bit more work put into it (& I don't just mean length wise either).
The fact that it's just that sequence of him dealing with the Marines is so funny. It makes me so freaking happy because of how much I loved that moment. It's another reason as to why I like having this unit in my current main team.
Tumblr media
By the way, this isn't the only animation this unit has. They also gave him a special animation for when you complete a super tandem with him & a few specific characters!
Tumblr media
The thing is that, again, he's an anniversary unit. So he only comes around whenever they have an anniversary or half anniversary banner. But I'm not exactly in a rush to raise his level limit. He's good as is with what I was able to do in terms of boosting his stats up. Just need to raise his potential abilities.
Overall, I love all the Sabo units I have on the game & I can't wait for any future ones they give us!
Also, if you guys want the animations alone in the posts along with the unit's pics, then I'll gladly do that when I can!

brb just have to complain about a dumb comment i saw on reddit because. it's annoying me
so the original post is basically just the person asking "is this legit?" with the following image beneath
Tumblr media
now of course i recognize like. a good half of these honestly so i am like. yeah duh. unicode compatible, not necessarily but... yeah!
then when i scroll down i get this response first thing
Tumblr media
which. first let me do the petty thing and say. the page that the link on "fanfic" that they link to is this
Tumblr media
which states that fanfic is defined as FICTIONAL WRITING (almost all of the coinage of these marks was in nonfiction writing) based on a preexisting FICTIONAL USUALLY subject. making new punctuation marks is not fucking fanfiction i don't know how to get this across but it really fucking isn't
"typographical fanfiction" would be like shipping the exclamation mark and the question mark together and writing a fiction piece about it! what this is, if anything is making a typographical oc! so. that's already pissing me off.
but secondly is the claim that only interrobangs are "legitimate" here. i mean, obviously, i take issue at the whole question of legitimacy because, what fucking qualifies a mark as legitimate? like, what makes the interrobang legit but none of these other marks legit, especially when some have been around for WAY longer?
if we were to say that inclusion within unicode proves legitimacy, there's a helpful thing in here for us!
it shows that the asterism (⁂), hedera (❦), interrobang (‽), percontation point (⸮), and snark mark (.~) are in fact in unicode! (it also says the irony mark is in unicode but i can only find the arabic backwards question mark and the percontation point again, neither of which fit the description given but whatever)
so if a mark being in unicode isn't enough to make it "legitimate", what's the fucking problem openapple?? let's say, this user isn't counting the asterism or hedera because they're not exactly punctuation. i mean, that's dumb because they're using the term "typographical fanfiction" so, somewhat indicating a lean towards typographical marks being punctuation for this sake. i mean i can hardly imagine the responder is going to say that an underscore is fanfic so... i don't think that's it
when it comes to the timing, these marks (at least the ones in unicode) aren't particularly new so...
the asterism (asterism simply being a word for a grouping of three stars) has been in use so long i can't even find a date on its origin and is simply a dinkus like the fleuron (or hedera, i'll get into that in a minute)! it's been used in fucking ULYSSES among plenty of other books. i would say if a mark is in multiple works of published literature, and FAMOUS literature at that, it's probably fucking legitimate you asshole.
so, i am already kinda pissed about the "asterisms aren't legit" thing. this can only mean great things for my ability to not get more annoyed about the "hederas aren't legit" thing, right.~
fleurons are another type of dinkus, similar to the asterism, used as a paragraph break. the hedera is a type of fleuron, specifically being named after the shape it has, which is the shape of a leaf of ivy. notably, the reason for this is because hedera is LATIN for ivy because, you guessed it, this "illegitimate fanfic" is as old as fucking ANCIENT ROME, in fact even older. literally fuck you openapple do some research idiot (i swear this is really REALLY annoying)
the percontation point has less legitimacy, as it only comes to us from... 1580?! holy fuck that's older than the G-DDAMN UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!! what the fuck man. it's literally... i shouldn't have to defend irony punctuation that's older than the usa from a worm like this, sorry. it was invented by henry denham, who owned probably one of the first printing houses ever (seeing as the printing press was pretty recently invented) and uh. okay i don't even want to get into this but i really wouldn't call it fanfic personally. considering.
the irony mark (which i can't find, rip) on the other hand is slightly newer, not older than the usa. but it was invented in belgium in 1841 so. what the fuck man. it was invented by marcellin jobard, who wasn't exactly hugely known but also he was a pretty talented guy who even got multiple medals for assorted things so. he owned two separate newspapers, worked with CHARLES BABBAGE to introduce railroads into belgium, had around 73 patents, and had his writing praised by the french president and VICTOR HUGO among others. seems pretty g-ddamn legit to me.
the snark mark is listed here as being a more user friendly version of the sarcmark, and it was invented. way more recently. it was invented in 2006 (so i mean. it would be having it's eighteenth birthday this year. it could legally vote.) while you could argue that people have written fanfic that old blah blah blah, i still do feel like when a punctuation mark has a website and shit. maybe i wouldn't just brush it off so callously.
BUT THAT'S NOT ALL!!
even the marks that aren't in unicode should arguably be up for grabs! because. i mean, i was going to try to propose a mark to unicode and it's a fucking headache so... idk man. i feel like it's just dumb. it's like if someone in the days of typewriters just said "oh, the em dash isn't legit because you can't type it" which is obviously wrong. so let's tango.
the acclamation point, authority mark, certitude point, doubt point, and love point (along with another irony point) were invented by french writer hervé bazin in his 1966 essay "plumons l'oiseau" in which he didn't only write about these new marks but an entire remake of the french language that was more logically written out and shit. and i know tumblr users love mocking french for being unpronounceable from sight so. i feel like you'd like him. anyways, that aside, he was a fairly well known writer for his other works of fiction. i feel like that should get something right?
the elrey was in contrast made WAY more recently (2013) but from what i can see online i do think people are trying to get it into unicode + it is pretty helpful imo so. even if it isn't legit (whatever that means) it is like. nice. so fuck you it's legit now.
the exclamation comma and question comma were patented in 1992, losing the patent a bit later, etc etc whatever. i mean you could argue that they're legit but i mean. i can think of at least one author that could use these because. well they look so much better than just putting a—? in the middle of a sentence so. anyways. they're like. nice. also.
and quick side tangent on the only legit one in openapple's opinion. the interrobang was invented in 1962 (around the same time as all of bazin's punctuation notably you huge prick) and was arguably forgotten about for a while. how's that more legit? because it's in unicode‽ i mean fuck unicode man!!
and then our last fun guy is the friendly period, invented in 2010. and also i think this one probably falls under less legit but it's also helpful! i mean, i swear, everyone complains about tone tags until people propose new punctuation about it and then they're just jerks.
so maybe my arguments for the last few were a bit weak but... fuck you openapple. you're wrong. and this was just me trying to refute this because. i am a bit pissed that everyone was responding to them with positivity when they were SO DAMN WRONG I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF
anyways i will stop being mad about this now. but grrr ugh

The World is Run by Jerry Smiths
So, its a popular idea that there's a shadowy cabal of rulers running the world. The Illuminati, the Deep State, the Lizard People, what have you.
Personally, I have my own theory on this one.
They're not shadowy or secret.
They really don't run the world in any sense but running it into the ground.
They're all basically Jerry Smith from Rick & Morty.
Tumblr media
Now hear me out.
In Rick & Morty, Jerry Smith is Morty's father. He is an insecure little tit who is forever trying and failing to prove his worth, because he doesn't realize he has no worth to prove. He's pretty pathetic.
Tumblr media
He almost gets murdered by Meeseeks when he tries (and fails) to improve his golf game, the short-lived helper creatures realizing that they can be free of their existence if they get rid of him and (technically) fulfill his request by doing so ("we can't take two strokes off his game, but we can take all strokes off it!")
Tumblr media
He gets used by the ruler of Pluto to try to get people to ignore the fact that their planet is being destroyed by their own abuses of it and goes along with it because his ego is getting stroked the entire way, to the point of humiliating his son on stage.
Tumblr media
And he's such a man-child that he winds up in a literal daycare for Jerrys that an alternate version of Rick established to take care of them while a universe's Rick and Morty were off having adventures.
Every time I see Jerry, I'm reminded of... honestly a lot of political figures in the United States (probably other countries too, but I try to avoid political news that doesn't directly affect me as it would only stress me out horribly.)
Lately America has been on one of it's regular Moral Panics that will, more often than not, blow up in the GOP's face in the end. We've had the Satanic Panic, the Porn Rock hearings of the 80s, and the like... now we're on to Transpeople. Politicians are trying to mandate how gender works because... I dunno, they're afraid of getting cooties or something (or more likely the usual 'we're trying to incite a culture war to avoid the class war that will likely happen one day.')
One of the worst offenders of this is Ron DeSantis, governor of Florida. A little toad of a man who is so insecure that he wears stealth high heels in order to make himself appear taller than he is as he attacks anything and everything he considers "woke" in revenge for... well, whatever. Probably losing the 2024 nomination to a pile of Cheetos in an ill-fitting suit.
Tumblr media
Moving away from the political sphere we can find Jerries in the leadership of the business world as well. A prime example is one of the reasons I reactivated my Tumblr account in the first place. Everyone's favorite little shit, Elon "Elongated Muskrat" Musk.
Tumblr media
Elon is 100% what Jerry would be if he had a lot of money. He got laughed at on Twitter, so he bought it and bans everyone who looks at him funny. He buys up companies and claims he's a genius scientist for inventions he had no hand in designing (and that come out far worse for his involvement post-takeover.)
A closer to home example would be Tumblr's own Photomatt, who I didn't even know existed until recently and having found out about them I wish I could return to that happy place of ignorance.
Because a transperson was... honestly as far as I can tell existing to them for more than a few minutes they banned their account, then did so again when they made a burner account, then once more with feeling, then possibly a few more times (I lost count.)
Of course he's now getting dunked on from all sides and has only his millions of dollars and the ability to threaten siccing the FBI on offenders while screaming incoherently like a toddler who was told they can't have a cookie.
Tumblr media
Again, Jerry Smith, but with money.
So yeah. Got a bit rambly there, but thats how I see the world really. Its not a bunch of tyrannical fascists, its a bunch of insecure little men who can't handle even the tiniest bits of criticism without having a panic attack.
Where's Rick when you need him?

10 things about me 🍰
Tagged by @greypetrel @shivunin @idolsgf and @demandthedoodles 💛 thanks guys for the free therapy session! ;u;
1 - Sometimes I feel like I don't have a personality, just coping mechanisms and a whole lot of reactions caused by anxiety, which is one of the reasons why I started therapy. Apparently I need to just sit down and ask myself "what do you need now / in general?" and it's helping me finding out who is the person I'm wearing << she's kind of an idiot but I'm starting to like her the more I connect to her.
2 - Huge cat person. They're the most communicative beings on earth, they have social cues and a plethora of personalities. Did you know they evolved to mimick the cry of human babies to attract our attention? They have a special "meow", basically. When they do that, we immediately turn our attention to them because our preservation instincts kick in and we're forced to respond. I just love cats so much omg 💛
3 - I can't remember shit, really. It's either a problem or a funny thing because my memory is very selective for no reason lol I know that you hate peas but I can't remember if you needed a lift to the airport or a pack of crackers when we talked yesterday. But when something negative happens... ooohboi! I'll somatize that for years and would remember every single detail, even the color of the sky in that specific moment.
4 - Never tell me that The Divine Comedy is a fanfiction. That's a major turn off. It's one of those things I take very seriously, tbh <<
5 - I don't vibe with horses lol I befriended a horsie called Carrot when I was 7 and horse riding was one of my favorite things ever, until the guy made me fly to the ground because something scared him :' I don't really blame him, but it was a painful experience - hopefully for me only. I tried to connect with other horsies later on but it never worked out.
6 - I horribly love chocolate based desserts. Big faves are sachertorte (of course lol), tiramisù, millefoglie (it's a layered cake with custard/chocolate ganache and puff pastry), and everything that comes with chocolate ganache. Carnival fritters give me so much joy too! Last time I had those I almost wept because they were so good lmao
7 - I really enjoy weird Medieval guys, the miniature style critters you could find on tomes. I'm fairly obsessed with them because they're so stylistically elegant but so dumb to look at 💛 A new addiction I found out I have is looking for creepy looking baby jesuses on Medieval and Renaissance paintings whenever I visit an exposition.
Tumblr media
I mean... Doesn't he make you laugh? He's glorious!! A Unit™
Tumblr media
Also HIM! The lovechild of Billy Crystal and Tim Curry 💛 yes I have more, yes I will post my collection somewhere <<
8 - I never had bubble tea, but I will - once I gather enough confidence to try this cute Japanese bar that opened around here << they have like 50 different options and options make me feel like I'm in front of an audience ready to hit me with rotten fruits. Hopefully it's worth it? Lol
9 - My body refuses liquorice. I thought I was allergic but you can't be allergic to liquorice apparently. But like, hear me out, whenever I ate it, I got the most horrific allergic reactions, no kidding! Even its smell, or a smell close to that makes me wanna run as distant as I can because my skin reacts to it o-o
10 - I did write more than 5 long fics (not counting one shots) in a span of 10 years, which they say it's impressive, considering the amount of chapters and the multiple revisions I always do. I tend to be overly critical when it comes to my writings, so I tend to avoid rereading what I do, except for my second mass effect fic about the Lazarus project, "In A Moment", which I'm very proud of. It's a "what if Shepard asked herself how she came back and if she really came back before the events of me3? And what would her reaction be if she found out reapers' tech was involved in her comeback?" kind of fic. Spoiler: she didn't take it well. I couldn't find anything like that in the mass effect section of the site I publish my stuff in, so I wrote it myself lol it's in my native language tho .-. Hopefully one day I'll find an editor and a translator to cover in money
-
No I'm not dense, it's just an impression << whoops! Sorry!
And since even my grandma got tagged in this, I'm tagging automatically whoever feels like doing it lol

— nct (127) fame indicators + success factors
because it was requested🥳🎉
idols with confirmed, approximate and for taeyong possible birth times (© to nugustrology on twitter):
johnny: 19:30 (7:30 pm) cst - chicago, il, usa
taeyong: 23:00 (11:00 pm) kst - seoul, south korea ! he might be born at earlier/later time
doyoung: 02:00 (am) kst - guri, south korea
jaehyun: 08:13 (am) kst - seoul, south korea
idols with possible birth times, in this case they’re unspecified if they’re born in the first 12 hours in the day or in the second half of the day:
mark: born in toronto, canada at (what he thinks since he allegedly don’t know) 11:00 et, either libra (for am) or aries (for pm/23:00). assuming his mbti (which is it really infj????), i would assume his rising might be aries, although i will check both alleged times with risk.
haechan: born in seoul, south korea at 10:00 kst, either leo (for am), or capricorn (for pm/22:00). assuming his mbti (enfp?), i would say he’s leo rising, although i will check both times.
i assume mark and haechan with these risings because of me being capricorn rising and also my experience with people with aries, libra and leo rising.
although winwin is inactive in the sub-unit, i will count him as member of nct 127 here.
—————
TAEIL
i won’t count moon and mars’ degrees. i will count moon’s sign and both sun and venus’ alleged degrees.
Tumblr media
LEO MOON
aah, yes. leo moon. as a person whose moon is in leo, they're very emotional too. strongly fame indicator because it's in leo.
sun at 22/23 degrees
long-term fame (22 degree) or internet fame with him being trendsetter (23rd degree).
hm.. both are valid.
mercury rx at 8 degrees
mass of people watching him bc of obvious reasons.
venus at 28/29 degrees
his fame is fated. idk if someone from his family is famous, so 29th degree for now.
jupiter rx at 5 degrees
hm. maybe he wasn't ready for the fame? i doubt that the 5th degree is for short-term fame/fame since young age.
saturn (not in retrograde) at 12 degrees
he'll be relatable, lol
neptune rx in 22 degrees
long-term fame. see??
true node in scorpio, in 23 degrees
internet fame with him being trendsetter :D
grand water trine (mercury, jupiter, saturn)
deeply emotional, he has strong intuition. it can help his moon, his neptune and the planets in his grand trine.
scorpio stellium-ish
helps his water trine xd
taurus stellium-ish? (i would call it influence; stellium-ish because there’s more asteroids rather than planets…)
hm.. interests in fashion/art? he could have specific aesthetic in his wardrobe
(edit: 7th nov 2022, 15:10 eet) well, aries? capricorn? i have no idea….
JOHNNY
Tumblr media
sun in 20 degrees
oh :)
anyway, uhm, mass of people watching him. yeah.
misunderstanding scandals, like the one he had last year.
mercury rx in 8 degrees as oriental planet
same as taeil's, although as oriental planet he has to learn to be himself. i know how hard it is to have mercury rx as oriental planet.. personal experience.
venus in 5 degrees
basically, his trainee life since young age.
mars rx IN LEO in 23 degrees
internet fame with him being trendsetter. possible hardships for when he has to act and/or say whatever he wants.
jupiter in sagittarius in 11 degrees
internet fame with him being trendsetter. his jupiter being in sagittarius, means his fame/glory/abundance/etc. is coming to him easily.
saturn in 12 degrees
he'll be relatable.
uranus in 27 degrees
success is coming to him with his freedom (and hard work).
neptune in 24 degrees
he'll be idolized. (if not now, then in the future)
pluto in 0 degrees
CRITICAL DEGREE! um, fame is coming to him in its pure way and it can be shocking.
5th house stellium
so, johnny in acting industry when? (asking this because it's great, great indicator for acting fame)
capricorn stellium
like jisoo from blackpink, he could give to his audience ceo vibes. he can have his own business in the future.
moon in 10th house
fame indicator by itself.
virgo rising in 17 degrees
the degree is fame indicator by itself. long-term fame.
medium coeli (mc) in gemini
yeah...ceo vibe. he might create company, or will be involved with something that involves talking/creativity in the future.
fire signs in the houses (sagittarius in IC/4th, aries in 8th and leo in 12th)
- sagittarius in the fourth house
with sagittarius in 4th house, he can feel that everywhere is his home
- aries in the eighth house
yeah.. mars rx, it makes sense he has hardships with his way of acting.
- leo in the twelfth house
johnny is unpredictable and even mysterious.
TAEYONG
Tumblr media
MOON IN LEO
same as taeil's. literally.
mercury in gemini in 17 degrees
his mercury being in gemini is great (because the planet is in its comfortable sign alongside virgo)! although his degree is in fame (and critical degree), whatever and whenever he talks, everyone will talk about him and if he doesn't want/have to talk, ehm.. taeyong has to be careful/cautious.
jupiter rx in sagittarius
although rx jupiter is hard placement, it's good placement for taeyong to speak out when he has to. since he's in industry where these days has fans in the whole world, beliefs/social issues/etc. are important. this placement is great for that. although jupiter being in retrograde might slower the things, it can happen and if taeyong wants to, he should! + it being in the 9th house speaks to that even more. in conclusion: jupiter in sagittarius/9th house = great influencer placement.
saturn (IT ISN’T RETROGRADE) in 24 degrees (in first house)
look. i know his saturn is great indicator for his musician career, but i do think there's more than him being idealized..
maybe, perhaps, there could be possible movement? similar to free britney? i don't know..
uranus rx in 29 degrees (in 11th house)
karmic degree (it’s obvious it’s also long-term glory too). possible hardships with people who are more important than him, like boss(es)/friends/close people/etc. (more likely boss(es), colleagues). he has original, even shocking, one-of-a-kind ideas. can possibly help his saturn…
neptune rx in 24 degrees (in 11th house)
idolized, can be also relatable. hardships with putting himself in the first place (he could prefer to help others more rather than himself). emotionally he might have elements of mercury rx (his mbti is similar to mine…or the same).
possible controversial indicator personally to him, not sure. i could do a research on that actually but i don’t quite know from where i can start. there has to be 20 degree somewhere in his natal chart…
pluto rx in 28 degrees (in 9th house)
fame degree as well as perfect house indicator about media and entertainment. pluto rx strengths his neptune rx (about the elements of mercury rx).
pisces rising in allegedly 7 degrees
yes, i said allegedly. possibly from there we can sense he’s an introvert (infp mbti..)? i don’t know people who i know they’re pisces rising so that’s why i assume that.
we can sense he’s interested in music even from his rising.
fire signs in houses
- aries in the cusp of the second house, 22 degrees
success in military/sport/entertainment in some cases. long-term career (doesn’t matter if he has it rn or will have it in the future).
- leo in the cusp of 6th house in 3 degrees
great indicators for him in the entertainment/music/tv industry. he can use more communication in the future though.
- mc in sagittarius in 17 degrees
great influencer indicator! helps his saturn and jupiter imo.
in my opinion, the degrees on his natal houses aren’t these.
YUTA
i won’t count mercury, venus, mars and lilith’s degrees as well as moon as whole, although i will count sun’s degree.
Tumblr media
scorpio stellium
he'd do (almost) anything to achieve what he wants. possible interests in mysterious things, spiritual life, similar things.
libra stellium-ish (influence i would say)
appreciates art and beauty in life. possible interests in fashion, art, even things that include fairness.
sun in 1/2 degrees
yuta's sun is more like "you are going to be successful" rather than "FAME". although if his sun is in the second degree, he'll see the fame in unexcepted things, in the mysterious for example.
mars and jupiter in sagittarius
i see yuta loves freedom in what he does career-wise so much..
his jupiter seems the same as taeyong's with the difference it isn't retrograde.
pluto in 29 degrees
karmic as hell. literally.
long-term fame, with heavy mark in the k-pop industry. either there, or in the future with whatever he decides to do.
hm. capricorn rising? maybe 22/23 degrees? having in mind his planets by degrees, it's very possible to have 20-degree planet, like moon (slim chance to none) or venus (small chance but not big, maybe like 40%; having in mind that he once? twice? wore questionable? controversial? shirt). if not, 20th degree house. 100%.
if his scorpio stellium isn't that influental to him.. i don't know.. sagittarius? pisces? not quite sure...
DOYOUNG
Tumblr media
stellium in the 3rd house
his mbti (isfj?) really shows up here.
realistic for sure. communicative, hard-worker.
aquarius stellium
interests in everything that makes him free. fashion, art, technology, inventions, astronomy/astrology..
capricorn stellium
100% helps his 3rd house. can give ceo vibes (if he wants to). interests in anything secure.
saturn as dominant planet and in 22 degrees
how funny. long story short, his capricorn stellium (& aquarius). slowly, steady career.
his saturn in the 4th house, though... :( can relate. he's lucky his chiron is in 11th house.
sun in 11 degrees
internet fame. great indicator for social media fame.
moon in 27 degrees
i have that. success degree !!!
it's obvious he's introvert though, lol
uranus in 1 degree
success degree.
pluto in 2 degrees, 1st house
crazy, crazy fame. famous for what he is, as individual. he can shake the k-pop industry.
true node in libra, in 20 degrees, in 11th house
aah, the 20th degree. everyone is drooling over him, though the degree gives me similar vibes to saturn in 20 degrees. they could be fated too...
chiron rx in 11th house
there could be some hardships because of his (past/future) scandals. he has to be careful because he has 20 degrees more than once...
scorpio rising in 20 degrees
the degree :') can relate.
well, he can say something and later will realise his mistake and will apologize. he means it every single time. he could not change that though, he's introvert after all and sometimes whatever he says, he can meant it differently. i understand him too well..
mc in virgo in 0 degrees
everything involving communication/health/education/exploring (either one or more).
fire signs in houses
- sagittarius in the cusp of 2nd house, 20 degrees
flexible career-wise. could be misunderstood about his ideas at first. there's also possibility of people underestimating him.
- aries in the cusps of 5th (2 degrees) and 6th (28 degrees) houses
[5th house] success in entertaiment/sport industry.
[6th house] success in sport industry (including military). feeling like home... probably it'll be the military.
- leo in the whole 9th house
same as 5th house.
well, he could love the military when he has to go to serve..
he's lucky his mercury is in the 19th degree.
JAEHYUN
Tumblr media
aquarius stellium
interests in fashion/art/computers..
12th house stellium
interests in anything spiritual/mysterious.
11th house stellium
massive fame. many, many fans. he probably loves being in nct (or having group work in general).
uranus as dominant planet, uranus in 5 degrees
he wants to do anything that makes him happy and free.
5th degree - either fame since young age, or he wasn't ready for his fame. ik he was in smrookies but just wanted to say that.
saturn as dominant planet, saturn in 1st house
slowly but steady career. in 1st house, this will be even more influental.
moon in 20 degrees
owch. he has intense emotions. possible scandals because of them?
mars rx in 5 degrees
hardships with his willpower.
5th degree.. well, he probably wasn't ready for his fame.
jupiter in 5 degrees
fame since young age/him not ready for his fame.
neptune in 28 degrees
his dreams are BIG. the fame is his home? he might've visualized it years ago without realising.
pluto in 5 degrees
ah, the 5th degree is everywhere...
true node in virgo, in 29 degrees
same as virgo mc: everything involving communication/health/education/exploring (either one or more).
lilith in LEO
just him having strong ego... or him not having that at all.
chiron (not retrograde) in 2 degrees
crazy, crazy fame. obssessive even.
pisces rising in 12 degrees
definite indicator (in my opinion) for his career in the industry.
mc sagittarius in 20 degrees
great influence indicator! though, the 20th degree..i do believe it has similar vibe to saturn in 20 degrees.
other fire signs in houses:
- aries in the cusp of the 2nd house
success in sports/entertaiment in some cases
- leo in the cusp of the 6th house
workaholics, success in the entertaiment industry (specifically acting/singing)
JUNGWOO
well, i had to manual write the coordinations since i cannot find GUNPO :) so i had to search sanbon-dong’s coordinates somehow
i won’t count sun in signs and moon as whole as well as mercury’s degrees. although, i will count sun’s degrees.
Tumblr media
sun at 29/0 degrees
karmic/critical degree. the fame is fate.
saturn in aries, in 17 degrees
long-term fame. great leaders.
neptune in 0 degrees
critical degree. dreams comes into his head purely.
true node in 11 degrees
success in the internet. possible influence indicator imo.
aquarius stellium
interests in computers/fashion/art.
hm. water rising?
MARK
i won’t count sun and moon’s degrees.
and here comes my magic of editing:
Tumblr media
mercury rx in 29 degrees
introvert vibe. karmic degree. long-term fame.
both houses seem realistic, although i am not nctzen and since i don’t watch mark to that extent i wouldn’t assume based on his natal chart which one seems more in place.
mars in 12 degrees
great willpower, acts when he has to.
assuming his mars is in scorpio, in dominant sign for the planet, and assuming that the degree is pisces one, both houses seem realistic too to my opinion.
neptune rx in 2 degrees
he could have (had) hardships with his dreams/illusions. massive fame, many, many fans.
since neptune is all about illusions.. ugh.
based on “child”, 11th house. he REMEMBERS his childhood (based on some facts i read randomly while doing my research). he’s not that dumb to not remember what his past was. he PRIORITISE his family, he doesn’t want to let them down. he puts that in the first place and he doesn’t forget.
on the other hand, i do see some water degrees in the aries rising chart, and there are asteroids and pluto in 8th house. there is definitely spiritual meaning to his neptune in some way.
neptune in the fourth house - no. big no.
true node in LEO in 12 degrees
him in entertaiment industry - yeah yeah it's too obvious yeah, he will be relatable somehow.
well, according to the true node in the 5th house, it’s about reclaiming his individuality, it’s about finding ourselves. it makes sense to the true node to be in the fifth house because of both his mercury and venus retrograde. mercury is about communication, way of thinking, knoweledge. venus is about creativity, art, beautiful things in general. as soon as i learned that his brother pushed him to try for the sm audition, i understood it makes sense.
in 11th house though, it makes sense too! he knows that he is worthy as person, though he gets sad and can find everything harder when he is alone, no matter if it’s literally or it is feeling.
both placements make sense.
lilith in sagittarius
influental for how he grow up or another secret(s). cou;d be relatable about that.
since lilith is about secrets and these dark things, i do believe it’s 8th house because of his true node. mercury rx and venus rx appear here as my reasonings for that too.
i do think it makes no sense for his lilith to be in the third house just because of his retrograde mercury, it’ll be hard placement if his rising is actually libra….
chiron in 27 degrees
helps his lilith!
imo chiron is in his 8th house because of his moving to south korea when he was 6 (that's what i read so if i am wrong, correct me).
HAECHAN
my magic of editing also comes here (without lilith; i am too lazy to fix that sorry):
Tumblr media
MOON IN LEO
so yeah, very emotional. very expressive.
both houses makes sense imo, i don't stan nct so i wouldn't know to that extent.
mars in 22/23 degrees
long impact or internet fame, both degrees and houses make sense.
jupiter in 23 degrees
internet fame. both houses make sense imo.
saturn in 24 degrees
he is and will be idealized. both houses make sense imo too.
uranus rx in 20 degrees
oh.. is it about that scnadal when it was reported he was friends with saesangs? if yes, uranus in 20 degrees might mean scandals when he has free time, when he does whatever he wants..
both houses make sense imo too, lol
pluto rx in 11 degrees
internet fame, he might've accepted it hard at some point.
probably 4th house, pluto in 11th house is harder placement imo. i know from personal experience.
true node in cancer
he listens to his heart! great indicator for musicians. both houses make sense imo. again.
and, i know, he's inactive in this unit, but WINWIN
i won't count sun, moon, mercury, venus and mars' degrees, though i do think his sun might be in the 5th degree.
Tumblr media
jupiter in 12 degrees
he is and will be relatable.
neptune in 27 degrees
success degree.
lilith in 24 degrees
he is and will be idolized.
i dunno which rising... i bet leo. libra. idk. scorpio. NO IDEA.
so yeah, the nct members are definitely interesting. i can relate the most with doyoung by degrees and signs. like, i felt myself somehow at least a bit (and i’m not nctzen).

i was tagged in a 20 Questions meme!
sorry for taking so long to respond, i can be kinda lazy sometimes and was waiting to be able to use my laptop <3 but ty for the tag @iam-jacks-redacted-information !!!
let's dive right in!
1 ) How many works do you have on AO3?
28!
2) What’s your total AO3 words count?
120,637 (owo)
3) What fandoms do you write for?
Red vs Blue, Spider-Man, World of Warcraft and SPYXFAMILY are what are listed on my ao3 profile. I've done my most amount of work in the RvB fandom, but i've also written a LOT for The Hunger Games, Torchwood, and (sadly) Harry Potter and Twilight. Just... not on ao3.
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Next Time Around which is an RvB rewrite w/ Tex surviving outside of the Epsilon memory unit, instead of being erased by Church at the end of s9 (which i still need to rewrite and finish waaah) Closure which.. I genuinely don't remember writing. Scars which I wrote on behalf of someone who wanted more non-sibling Carwash fics a cup of coffee in the morning which I wrote after a desire to see more of Wash's tastes/interests changing after the implementation of the Epsilon AI it's all in your head aka, a cute lil thing I did for fifteen minute ficlets that I need to get back into for SPYXFAMILY and twiyor.
5) Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes and no. It depends! I am an awkward person so if I know how to reply, I usually will especially if it's something i can answer! However, if it's something where i can't really think of a good response I might just leave it, or come back to it later.
6) What’s the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Uh... i tend to not write angsty endings. I like happy endings, I like knowing that despite everything, happiness can still be found. Like I LOVE angst, but I also like rewarding myself with some happy endings.
but one time I wrote about Cinna's death from THG so.... does that count?
7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I've never finished it, but my intended ending for Next Time Around was to have Tex going to Allison's grave on Earth with Carolina and Wash and laying down Forget-Me-Nots, before going back to live out the rest of her time with the Reds and Blues.
8) Do you get hate on fics?
Never directly, but I also don't really remember a lot of 2015-2018 because of cringe :'). I do think a lot of Peter/gwen fics got indirect hate from peter/mj fans which sucks because Peter has TWO hands!
9) Do you write smut? If so what kind?
I have orphaned most of my smut fics, but yes. I have done some basic ass vanilla guy eats out a girl stuff, but my favorite is the kinky sapphic smut. If you ever stumble upon a Tex/Emily Grey smut fic by an orphaned account, that was me :)
10) Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
No, they're just not for me.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No but last time I checked in 2021 someone had stolen my fucking background/about section from Tex RP blog and that was a COMMON problem I had in the RvB RP fandom on here. So. much. fucking. theft. of. my. god. damn. about. page.
And I put hours of work into it. Hours. It was detailed, and people just keep fucking stealing it somehow.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I am aware of!
13) Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
errrr...... Trying to rack my brain but coming up with a blank. i've written fics as favors/gifts for people though! Usually a "I have this idea and no idea how to write it help me pls Ange" thing
14) What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Church/Tex. Something about the inherent doomed by the narrative of it all, how no matter how hard Church tries to pull her close she always drifts away from him, the levels of love and trust they have towards one another.... Like they are DOOMED lovers but also they kinda both know that and that's what makes it so difficult.
15) What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I really really wanna go back and re-do and finish Next Time Around, and after playing NieR Automata that desire is even more present. but also, one piece is my current hyperfixation so I have no idea if I ever will.
16) What are your writing strengths?
oh. oh god. oh. um. hm.
Probably my short, punchy sentences. Where not a whole lot is being said, but the impact is still really strong and the emotions of what I'm trying to impart are impactful.
Also, my inner character monologues. I love that shit. Lemme open up their mind and tell you their entire secrets
17) What are your writing weaknesses?
Combat and physical descriptions B)
Combat is just... Idk. So much going on and it's so hard and you have to be really good about the descriptions and the motions and movements or else it's all a mess. And physical descriptions just... I'm a byproduct of the cringe era so I always worry about how my descriptions will sounds T-T
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
/shrug
I have never attempted to create my own fictional language, and I probably never will. It just isn't for me. I am planning on trying to pick Japanese back up, as when I was a wee child I knew it fairly well, but lost it as the years went on.
19) First fandom you wrote for?
Shugo Chara! or Sailor Moon
20) Favourite fic you’ve ever written?
Next Time Around is my current magnum opus but it also unfinished and I have no idea when I will pick it back up.
And that's a wrap! Thank you again @iam-jacks-redacted-information for the tag!!! I appreciate it, and i loved reading through your responses! Plus it made me go back through my old ao3 archive and see what I have written which I haven't done in a minute.
Anyways <3 if you wanna play this game please feel free to, and tag me in it! I always feel awkward tagging bc I still don't know a whole lot of people on here anymore QwQ

I know you probably were thinking of people who have POTS and orthostatic hypotension when you said compression stockings aren't a mobility aid but on rare occasions it can be, because there are people with lymphedema and lipedema bad enough that they can't walk well unless they're wearing compression stockings (I would know, I have lymphedema though mine isn't severe enough to count as a visible disability). It's not in like. A mad way but I'm just sad everyone in the disability community forgets lymphedema or lipedema exist and just assume it's a fat person disease (which is part of the often fatphobic stigma caused by the only representation the disorders get being my 600 pound life lmao). Tbh I wish people remembered fat storage diseases (not sure what to call them but like. Diseases that cause your body to deposit abnormal amounts of fat in certain places) are visible disabilities (like lipomas, lipedema, adiposis dolorosum, epidural lipomatosis, and I'm sure there's plenty more because I'm 99 percent sure I have the "apple shaped" equivalent of lipedema with a huge painful fat deposit on my neck that burns when you touch it, as well as a huge fat deposit inside my spine that I've probably had since my teens. Yeah fat disorders are not fun) existed like I try to search lymphedema and epidural lipomatosis on Tumblr and it's like nobody has it but me and people who have since deactivated
i know what you're talking about because i'm pretty sure my ex's father had lymphedema in both of his legs which severely limited his mobility, although he used crutches to get around and not compression wear.
the thing is, i wasn't saying that compression stockings don't help people get around. they do even in the case of people who have POTS or orthostatic hypotension (or autonomic failure.) bug mobility aids are designed with the purpose of assisting in movement. it's not contextual usage. canes (including white canes and not including decorative ones for casual use, which aren't supposed to support weight anyways), crutches, various types of scooters, wheelchairs, rollators, walkers, leg prosthetics, and guide dogs are all examples of things designed for the purpose of assisting in movement. some mobility aids that have both "mobile" and not mobile forms are standing aids and transfer aids (such as sling lifts and lift chairs.) technically stair lifts, ramps, and bars to help you stand up in handicap stalls are also mobility aids, although the way most people use the term probably doesn't suggest that. what unites all of the above is that they're intentionally and explicitly designed for mobility assistance. certain types of orthoses/braces are arguably mobility aids, but not all of them.
basically, all mobility aids help people move around, but not everything that can help someone move around is considered a mobility aid. i think this is an important distinction to make because mobility aid usage comes with a certain stigma all on their own, including mobility aids that you don't carry around with you (although the stigma when it comes to things like stair lifts or hand bars or ramps usually present as exclusion of access when it's needed, or those things not even being present.) mobility aids aren't exclusively designed or used by physically disabled people because we all know able-bodied people with temporary injuries use them, but the stigma around their usage, of course, stems from physical disability.
something like compression wear isn't inherently subject to the same stigma, although it definitely could be stigmatized in relation to certain body types and forms of disability, as you mentioned here. pain medications that contextually help people physically get around are certainly stigmatized and that stigma may overlap in some superficial ways to, say, getting around with a cane or chair or whatever, but overall it's a different type of stigma. you can personally consider something in your disability situation as a mobility aid, but that doesn't mean it is socially or medically recognized as such, which makes general claims like "compression stockings are a mobility aid" untrue, while "compression stockings help me walk" certainly can be true if that's the case. it's the difference between something explicitly meant to assist mobility vs. something that sometimes can.
generally, certain things can be thought of as a "mobility aid" in certain circumstances if you use the term very literally, but in a broader sense of the term, they aren't. it's more a matter of the stigma around mobility aid usage than semantics though. i hope all of that makes sense. no one has to agree with me, but that's the logic behind my thoughts.
also, this makes me wish i mentioned lymphedema and similar conditions in my post about people who "move wrong" due to their disabilities 'cause i tried to go out of my way to include conditions that are seldom talked about. i'm sorry that you don't have anyone to share your experiences with on tumblr. it must be painfully isolating and no one deserves that.

Political arranged marriage
Okay so this is actually a challenge option! For 1) how likely am i to write this fic trope and 2) whom for.
Because see, it's an interesting topic to me broadly speaking, but as it's used in fandom it's primarily a romance vehicle. A contrived scenario to set up a pairing in a Situation. Specifically a situation involving forced intimacy and externally imposed sexual pressure.
And like. It's not that I'm incapable of enjoying that, if it's the right blorbos handled in a way that works for me, it's a structure you can run a lot of fun dramas in, but I don't have anything I particularly want to deliver in that line, either.
Statistically at this time I'm most likely to find myself writing one of these about wangxian, because 1) my brain is in a rut help i have never cared about a ship like this in my life and 2) there are SO MANY of these damn fics in this fandom (modao zushi/the untamed), and historically 'high concentration of trope i find mildly annoying' has a high rate of inspiring me to process my feelings by producing my own iteration of that thing.
The Thing about wangxian politically arranged marriage scenario in particular is that it's a direct inversion of the context shaping their relationship in the canon.
Arranged marriages for political purposes require both parties to be actively embedded in high-status formal social webs which very proactively sanction their official attachment, regardless of personal sentiments, and any ensuing relationship develops within the framework of not being free to part.
All of this is the exact opposite of their situation; they are deliberately the exact opposite of this.
Now, if you engage with the thematic inversion on some level in your fic that's good fun, but if you try to edge awkwardly around it it gets very stale very fast. If I hadn't seen anyone doing anything fun with this I'd probably have been possessed and produced something by now, but I have, so it's eh. We're fine. It's fine.
More generally, I'm absolutely likely to depict politically arranged marriages, in general, but I don't know that it counts as doing the trope because I'm chiefly fascinated by all the ways these relationships can develop that aren't particularly close matches for romance as we typically block it out.
You know the bit in Fiddler on the Roof where after all the drama around love-matches rather than relying on the matchmaker, the dad asks the mom if she loves him, after like 30 years in a normal, traditional arranged marriage? And after initial bewilderment, having never considered the question before, she finally says she supposes she does, and he says he supposes he loves her too. Compelling. I'm intrigued.
If I'm going to write a political arranged marriage as a central feature of a story it's going to be about the social construct of matrimony and how it's conceptualized within the society in question. Necessarily this means it will also be about gender. The household as a sociological unit. Power and property.
It will also, obviously, be about politics.
So I'm much more likely to wind up doing this as a subplot in original fiction than as the premise of a fic, basically, but now I admit I am tempted to go figure out a premise for a one-shot political marriage fic for wangxian that I would find inherently interesting. I am easily baited, what can I say.
Alternate answer: i'm brain stuck in mdzs so technically the correct answer to this is like 20% and Jin Zixuan/Jiang Yanli because they're this in canon already and i'm basic like that.
