I've been thinking about what each Batkid would score on the ACE (adverse childhood experiences) test.
It is a very shallow measurement of how fucked someone's childhood is. It isn't comprehensive and isn't eligible for comparing trauma. It's merely a list of shitty things that could happen to a kid (and there's no measurement for frequency or intensity). You can look into it more yourselves.
For scores, the higher the number, the worse it is. 10 is the max. The questions are about someone before they turn 18. For these questions, I included Bruce as one of their parents. I didn't include Barbara or Duke because I wasn't confident in their answers.
Alright. Here's the scores I got:
At the top of the list, we have Jason. He has 10/10 on the ACE test :)
Next up, Steph and Damian are tied at 9/10.
Cass and Tim are tied at 8/10.
Finally, we got Dick at 7/10.
I used the americanspcc.org questions for them. If you got different scores or have numbers for Barbara and Duke, feel free to respond.

shaking crying throwing up because I know that I will never be able to make the edit of former robins grieving their idealism, set to Miley Cyrus’ “used to be young,” that I see in my dreams 😪
“I don’t dress the same”????
“I know I used to be crazy”?????
“You say I used to be wild/I say I used to be young”??
“THAT’S FINE, I’VE HAD A GOOD RUN”???????
I heard this in the car and was unable to have a single thought unrelated to Batman’s interactions with each of the Robins. I just sat there quietly, unable to cope. I am trying to be mature and move on from this, but I am not, nor have I ever been, mature when it comes to this lot

I'm NOT saying that Palpatine's autistic, but I do think it would be so easy to get the average therapist/psychiatrist to label him autistic (in that typical loving yet condescending tone 🥰)
T-Rex arms
Special interest: Sith & accumulating power/politics; doesn't show many interests beyond this and can spend most of his time intensely engaging in the interest, preferring it over social contacts etc.
Collects items related to special interest (Sith artifacts)
Once he's emperor, he doesn't appear much in public anymore, instead preferring to engage in his special interest (study the dark side)
Also, the comfy black robes. Bet there are no tags on that thing
Little to no emotional empathy (yes, no empathy autistics do still exist)
He does have cognitive empathy and social skills, but... "he must have taught himself and learned during his political training, he's so intelligent after all 🥰"
Little to no attachment to other human beings
He appears kind, so therapists would be biased ("this person can't have a personality or behavioral disorder, they complimented me and psychopaths aren't capable of being nice, while autistics are just loving angels by nature and incapable of deliberate harm 🥰")
Criminal behavior as a teen? Noooo he just didn't understand social rules and lacked theory of mind 🥰
He's single and has never had a steady romantic relationship, which "clearly points to social-communication problems". If you think this is ridiculous, that's only more of a sign that you don't understand how social structures work 🥰 Yes a psychiatrist said this to me
Exaggerated facial expressions
Lots of bright red in his apartment and office because of chronic understimulation
If you were to present these traits to therapists they would go oh I know what this is :D
In other words: sending Palps to therapy would not accomplish much and it wouldn't even be his fault lol
I don't have bad experiences with the mental health system what gave the impression

@talesimagination said: 2 for Dialga (I think he has a bag, if not, 1 is fine) *from Kuro*
>>From this meme
//Dialga actually does not have a bag, unless you count the occasional bag of poffins xD So pockets it is! He also did not start with pockets. That was something he added to his human guise's clothing after many visits to the mortal realm indicated it might be a useful thing to have. Enough people had given him things that it became a problem as he couldn't just pop back to his tower to drop them off without freaking out the people who didn't know who he really was. Luckily there was an easy solution. As for what's usually in said pockets, well you said 'from Kuro' so I'll give you something in character, as if Kuro had asked :)
A pause as Dialga contemplates what could have prompted such an odd question. An answer does not come quickly enough to prevent awkwardness, so instead the Guardian of Time simply reaches into said pockets (one on each pant leg, emulating human clothing) and stiffly removes the contents to display in his hands; in one hand a small spiral notepad with an image of Palkia on the cover, and a black pen that clicks instead of a cap. In the other hand a business card for the Veilstone Department Store, and a small, clear gemstone he'd picked up from a shrine offering to him earlier today. As for the purpose of everything but the gem, Kuro is likely the only person he would ever admit this to...
❝My memory is not what it used to be.❞ When you are as old as time itself it becomes exeedingly easy to forget the insignificant happeninings of the mortal realm, gone in the blink of an eye as they often are, even if you did not intend to. The business card and gem are returned to their pocket, but the notepad in the other hand falls open. He tries to shut it but it only closes after stiff fingers fumble with it long enough for Kuro to glimpse awful handwriting in the form of a checklist. Several items are crossed out, the only ones left alone reading 'tak to Palkia abowt mownten' and 'repa Giratina'.
When he finally manages to get it closed it and the pen are swiftly returned to their respective pocket, no emotion on his face as if his clumsiness had not occurred. Don't you dare bring it up. ❝Does that sate your curiosity?❞

Why self-diagnosed autistics are valid
medical diagnosis can be expensive
humans are the experts on their own minds
family may prevent assessment
diagnosis criteria is a poor checklist of stereotypes
diagnosis criteria ignores gender, race, sexuality, culture & more
medical diagnosis confirms autism, but doesn't create it
discrimination within the medical profession may prevent diagnosis.
Assessment waiting lists often long
medical trauma may make assessment unfeasible
