Chapter 1

“Simeon! Solomon! There you are!" Kristin waved at Simeon and Solomon, who were waiting outside their inn. Kristin gasped at Simeon's custom with clouds' special effect. "Simeon! I love how you look!"

"Ah, Kristin!" Simeon smiled. "Thank you. I'm supposed to be a sort of ghost." Simeon stepped closer to Kristin and showed her the custom. "There's a delicate quality to the custome. A ghost-like fragility that I really like."

"Solomon!" Asmo gasps, catching up with Kristin. "That's a Yuki-onna custome!" Asmo groan. "I was going to pick that!"

"Oh, it does make Solomon's aura of beauty," Kristin said, looking at Solomon up and down.

Kristin then asked. "By the way, you said someone else is joining us. Who is it?" Kristin looks around them.

Kristin turned at her shoulder with a scowl. "You appear out of nowhere! In the middle of a yokai parade. Of course, I would be surprised."

"Ah yes, it is essential for a weak human like you to be aware of where you are," Raphael said. Kristin groans at the angel. It seems like an insult to her. "In any event, I'm only here to observe. So please don't mind me."

Levi came along. "You're here to observe?"

"Yes, he's hoping to get the feel of the festival in Devildom. So he wants to see as much as he can." Solomon explain.

"And I need to buy a gift for Michael. I'll have to split with all of you at some point." Raphael added.

"Ah," Kristin mumbled and commented. "It'll be much more fun if you had a custome, though."

"I agree with Kristin! If you want to have much more feel to the festival, you should've had a custome too!" Asmo backs Kristin as he puts a hand around her. Kristin nodded.

"I'm only observing," Raphael said to them with a stern look. Asmo slowly backs Kristin away from the angel.

"Alright! Now that everyone is here, I'll give each of you a paper lantern." Lucifer begins distributing lanterns to everyone. He explained further. "Inside of each one is a candle. You'll use that to light the various outdoor lanterns around town."

Kristin accepts the simple lantern. She notices another lantern in the middle of the demons and the parade. "Lucifer, what about that lantern?" Lucifer looked at the lantern Kristin pointed at. The lantern has a face with its giant tongue out. Lucifer glared at her. Kristin shrugged. "What? They look cute."

Lucifer sighed, running a hand through his hair. "That is not just a yokai lantern. They're Chōchin-Obake, a yokai lantern that likes to scare humans."

Kristin rolled her eyes. As if there's nothing that scared her more. "Fine. Thank you."

"Alright! Time to light up some lantern!" Luke exclaim, and off they join the Hyakki Yagyo parade.

"Belphie, you've been falling behind. Are you alright?" Lucifer asked. Belphie said he's thought about getting Beel to carry him. Kristin didn't entirely listen as the previous group of yokai disappeared.

"By the way, Lucifer, why are you hanging in the back? Usually, you are upfront, leading the group." Balphie said. Kristin forgets the yokai and turns at the boys with a teasing smile.

"That's because Lucifer is worried about you, Belphie."

Belphie scoff. "I doubt that."

Lucifer smirks in response. "I'm only hanging in the back to watch everyone. And to make sure a certain sheep doesn't get lost."

"Would you stop! With the sheep joke!" Kristin snapped, she doesn't usually get lost. Gaining a sheep form had included the ability to get lost so easily.

She hates her sheep form.

"See, I knew he was just being a jerk as he always was." Belphie mock. Kristin gulp as she feels Lucifer's heavy aura.

"Hm? What was that, Belphie?" Lucifer asked with his dark demeanor.

"No, nothing." Belphie quickly said and yawned. " Haaah… I'm so tired~" Now, he's just trying to be a cute youngest brother. Kristin rolled her eyes and thanked God, Lucifer let him with a warning glare.

Kristin sighs, tired from watching Mammon, Luke, and Solomon playing otedama. Lucifer decided for the group to take a break after Belphie fell asleep in the middle of the street. Mammon then suggests going over and lighting some lanterns. As usual, the others start requesting alone time with Kristin.

"Here we go again," Kristin complains. Though Lucifer had asked the others to stop, Mammon suggested the otedama game they had played in the Night Lantern Inn. Mammon seems to be winning from Solomon as he laughs in enjoyment. At the same time, Luke had already lost in the first row.

"Ugh, this is because I have a small hand!" Luke complains.

"Yeah, yeah, keep telling yourself that, Chihuahua." Mammon mocks, swiping his hand to pick up three of the bean bags.

"I am not a Chihuahua!" Luke yap.

Kristin felt famished and went to a stall where Beel’s eating. “Hi Beel, what are you eating?”

"It's hyakki manju. A steam bun with sweet bean paste centers."

"Uhhh…sweet! Mind if I do!" Kristin reaches out to the stall to take the sweet bun when Beel grabs around her middle, away from the stall. "Hey! Beel!" She stops as a grotesque human with fox-like features, blood-shot eyes, sharp teeth, and a long, drooling tongue approach the stall.

The human ghost knocks on the stall when the demon behind it gives a bag full of buns. Then the ghost turned, staring deathly at Kristin. She shivers under Beel's hold. Then the demon walks away. Kristin let out a long breath of relief. "Thanks, Beel."

"You're welcome. That was a kowai, a gluttonous ghost. It could've eaten you away."

"Aha, yes~" Kristin remembers her fear when Beel wanted to eat her sheep form, thinking it was cotton candy.

"Kristin! Are you alright?" Satan called, looking worried.

"I'm fine." Kristin looks up at Beel. "You can release me now, Beel."

"Oh right, sorry."

Satan scratches the back of his head and sighs. "It seems there's a lot of yokai and demons from another region to join the Hyakki Yagyo here. We should keep you in the middle of the group." Satan takes Kristin's side to get back to the group. Then Satan exclaims. "Wait a minute…! Look over there!"

Satan runs off like a cat, bumping into Levi as he does. "Huh?! Satan! Where are you going?!" Levi shouts.

"Wasn't he protecting me?!" Kristin yelled, but Satan was far off gone. Curiosity gets the better of her. To know what Satan got excited for. "Levi! Let's chase him!"

"Huh?! Why me?! Ugh, he just HAD to make our life difficult!"

"Kristin! Be careful!" Beel shouted to both Levi and Kristin whose already far away from the group. Beel only hoped Lucifer hadn't noticed a missing group.

Well, I hope it didn't bored you guys the fun will just begin.

I added more original yokai I got from the internet. If there is any wrong with the yokai, please forgive me.

And with Raphael, I haven't really passed lesson 70, and I'm only guessing his character from a few spoilers, devilgrams, and a few interactions we had from events like the Yokai events. I will still follow the story in which Raphael saved us all in the cave, and I hope to get more intense and fun.

A headcanon I really love a lot for uf is that Undyne had been a patient of Gaster's back when he was the royal scientist

I've always wondered about Undyne and her whole deal, did she just naturally have more DT than other monsters? Or is there more to the story? Of course, given UF's darker nature, I've delved a bit deeper into this curiosity (since it compels me so), and wound up with the headcanon that, when she was younger (probably around 12-14), the incident that lost Undyne her eye almost claimed her life. Gerson managed to scrape her up and get her to the labs since he'd heard about the royal scientist's research into strengthening monsters, and potentially even reversing Fallen cases.

Nearly perfect timing, too, Gaster was just about ready for trials with his latest..."concoction". Things...could've gone better, but she survived the night which was a good sign. He continued experimenting on stabilizing her until she was finally able to leave the labs after a few months. She was his only successful patient, which Gaster was obligated to report to the king, and subsequently when Asgore's special interest in her really took root.

It also spawned another of my favorite little sometimes-headcanons, that Undyne had actually accidentally met, or at least seen the brothers at the labs back when they were still pretty young.

Humans are weird: Overkill part 2

The soft wind carried over the hill overlooking the military camp. The grass rolled with the wind as if it was water and the trees the rocks the wind would break upon. Levi sat at the top of the hill in the shade of a viper tree. Her eye was closed as the wind ran through her hair. The warm breeze reminded her of happier times. Times when a warm breeze would inspire feelings of joy, times when the threats facing her world were a distant memory, and certainly times when she didn’t need to bring her rifle with her everywhere she went. Hefting her long rifle, she opened her eye and took a gander down at the camp far below. The camp was hardly impressive for the banner they were fighting under; a couple hundred tents and mobile workshops made up the entire force of the northern front. Levi’s people were bipeds with single set of arms and legs. Many had mistaken them for humans were it not for the fact of the single massive eye in the center of their forehead the size of a baseball and that a single strand of her hair was as thick as power cords. For the seven years her people had been in the depths of a civil war the result of a free election. Basic gist was the military complex didn’t like the elected officials ideas of reducing the military spending budget, so they launched a coup but at the time much of the old administration had been replaced by the incoming one so support was not as wide spread as they had thought. The result was a protracted war between the Free Republic of Opala in the south and the United Front of Opala. The stalemate had lasted so long as ironically the military had taken most of the soldiers with them but in the north lacked facilities to arm them, while the official government had the facilities to arm a military, but no trained soldiers resulting in a ceaseless struggle of back and forth. That was until recently. The United Front had been making headway in winning off world support for their cause, some companies liked the idea of a personal army in debt to them, and had been given massive war material to finally fully arm their forces. Without warning they launched a massive assault along the entire front. Within days the United Front had made more headway than they had in the last seven years. A fact that many UF soldiers reminded any FR supporters they came across. Once word of massacres civilians began filtering into the wider universe the FR began receiving aide of their own. Surprisingly, their largest benefactor came from the Federation of Planets, a human run government spanning several systems. Today was the day they promised the “real” hardware would be arriving. The sudden change of the wind alerted Levi and she gazed up to the sky to see the largest ship she had ever seen in her life. It was like a city with some thrusters attached to it. As it set down next to the camp the Levi could see through her scope several dozen tents crumple up and flutter away from the gusts of wind. She was about to call down over the radio to see how the camp was holding up when a sudden boom echoed all the way up the hill. Looking back at the lander two massive doors began to open. The humans must have brought considerable amounts of supplies to warrant such a massive transport. As the doors finally opened completely a low rumbling began emitting from the inner hull of the ship. From the shadows of the inner hold came a behemoth of a machine. Carried on treads as large as four city blocks on either side and easily seven blocks long, the machine churned off the ramp and slowly began moving on to the planet’s surface. The treads dug deep into the soil as it drove past the camp leaving 20 foot deep gouges into the ground as it slowly drove by. Mounted atop the structure were a vast array of weapon emplacements. Turrets carrying guns seemingly taken from space fairing battleships slowly tracked the horizon. “Levi, Levi! Can you hear me?” So distracted by the sight of such military might she almost missed the call coming for her over the radio. “I’m up on the hill and I can see everything.” “So you can see the UF task force coming from the north?” Turning her scope round she looked to the north and saw a dust huge dust cloud. Rows of armored vehicles driving across the plains to the FR camp. “They must have tracked the humans after they broke orbit.” “No, really?”

She was about to make her way back down to the camp when the human machine fired. Plums of smoke spewed from the long barrels as the massive construct slowly began turning to face the onrushing foe. As the other batteries aboard the mammoth fired smaller doors around the entire machine opened one by one. What looked like drone tanks and fighter planes began pouring out and raced head long into the UF forces, their charge already faltering under the rain of heavy shells. Levi watch from her hill as what she would later learn was called a “mobile fortress” continued slowly churning forward and soon what the UF had once thought would be a battle against a human machine quickly turned into a desperate retreat against a seemingly endless army of human machines. Just when she thought things couldn’t be any more breath taking she heard a familiar rumble again. She turned back to the ship and saw another mobile fortress slowly churning down the ramp to join its sibling in the gauntlet of war.
