My favourite thing is when the mother of capitalistic "we make sure the government is wrapped around our finger" companies (Amazon) has (at least) two popular shows with a "allowing capitalism to grow into a government controlling power will lead to the stripping of human rights and to capitalizing on human death in ways we’ve never seen before and also to the end of the world" message

Really what more do you need in a TV show than blatant, unsubtle anti-capitalism and Mutual Yearning

So in Upload on Amazon Prime there is a scene that is truly peak terrible rich person (in a show with many examples of this, this still manages to stand out to me) and you don't actually fully realize just how truly awful it is right away, you might not even realize it without a couple watch throughs if at all
The scene in question is David Choak eating his rare black rhino meat steak, which he claims they had to "kill the last of to get the flavor just right"
Now of course that alone is pretty peak rich person awfulness, but it actually get worse. In a later episode they actually have a "system update" where a part of the update is ADDING sour, bitter, and umami flavoring to their taste buds because they "only have salty and sweet" which they said made everything taste like kettle corn
Choak doesn't seem to have gotten the update earlier or anything and realistically it is probably a continuity issue (I firmly believe that every show should have at least 1 person on staff as a continuity expert to catch these things but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) but either way it leaves the impression of this literally peak rich asshole thing (that totally fits the narrative) of having them kill the last of a species so he could taste it in a stake in digital heaven and it wasn't even something that he was getting the actual flavor of for a long time, he made an animal extinct so he could have the right flavor, likely knowing full well it was going to taste like kettle corn either way
What a fucking savage
Hilarious added element to this scene though that did take several watches for me to catch the full implications of

The concept of having black and white (as in not in color) people in Upload doesn't make sense since soon before introducing us to the concept we watch Nora build up what Nathan looks like using his own memories which wouldn't require a photo like they say was needed for the black and white people, even if they wanted to look younger than when they died, so unless those people don't have their memories (unlikely given context) or don't have accessible memories (also unlikely given the whole situation), I get that they did it so you can be super aware of who the older people within Upload are, but they didn't make it make contextual sense so it bugs me
