Reminder: In an election like this, where the incumbent is running and a favorite to win, it is IMPERATIVE that you use your primary vote to make a statement, if you can. Biden and Trump are both unlikely to be replaced by a another candidate, barring age-related medical emergencies, so you aren't throwing a vote that "could have gotten him in" if you vote for someone else or write in "ceasefire."
Primaries is where you vote for what you want. General elections, in November, are to vote for what is less likely to kill you.
(I was going to say 'for what you can live with,' but for some people this year, they are in fact legitimately struggling with 'how can I live with myself if I vote for this candidate' in relation to specific current events.)
This is a map of states with open primaries. An open primary means that you can vote without being a registered party member. In a state with closed primaries or a caucus, you must be a registered party member to vote in the party's primary.
There's a widespread, very active campaign in Michigan, ands less active in other states, to make a statement about Biden risking swing states by not pursuing a ceasefire more actively. If you can vote, especially in a primary, and you haven't yet... consider writing in 'ceasefire' on your primary ballot.
Okay, used https://ballotpedia.org/Main_Page and https://www.vote411.org to pick my votes for today. Going after work.
You can put in your address and see the races you’ll be voting in, and you can get the biographies of the candidates and see their answers to some questions. Vote411 lets you select your candidates and then you can see the list and print it out to take to the polls with you.
Also there's TurboVote: https://turbovote.org/ This site can help you get registered and find your polling place, and I'm signed up to get reminders of elections that I can vote in.

Across Maryland at farmers’ markets, mosques, and through phone calls, dozens of activists are encouraging opponents of Israel’s assault on Gaza, which has resulted in over 33,000 Palestinian deaths, to vote for “Uncommitted” in the state’s May 14 primary election.
Hena Zuberi, a leader of the Listen to Maryland coalition which is spearheading the movement, told the Baltimore Beat, “By selecting ‘uncommitted’ on the ballot, we are protesting to inform President Biden that we do not support his funding of war and genocide,” said the Howard County resident and mother of four.
The “Uncommitted” movement in Maryland views voting as a key tactic to push for a ceasefire. It is supported by Jewish Voice for Peace Action (the 501(c)(4) sister organization of Jewish Voice for Peace), chapters of the Democratic Socialists of America, and others.
There’s no apparent end in sight to the conflict that’s entered its sixth month. It has destroyed much of Gaza’s civilian infrastructure and internally displaced hundreds of thousands of Gazans.
As Biden has won resounding victories in the primaries, over half a million people, or about one in ten Democrats, have chosen “uncommitted,” “uninstructed,” or “no preference” in primaries across states like Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Connecticut (as of April 5). Supporters argue this is the reason some Democrats — such as former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and some senators — who had previously opposed ceasefire have recently changed their position.
Trump, Biden won final primaries en route to presidential rematch
US President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump completely summarised the results of the presidential primaries held in the states of Arizona, Florida, Illinois, Kansas, and Ohio on Tuesday.
Biden received 89% of the vote in the Arizona Democratic primary, whereas Trump won 76% of the vote in the Republican primary. Former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley received 20% of the vote, although she dropped out of the Republican race.
In Illinois, Biden won with 91% of the vote, Trump won with 80% and Haley got 14%. In Kansas, Biden won with 83% of the vote, Trump received 75%, and Haley was supported by 16% of voters. In Ohio, Biden got 87% of the vote, Trump got 79%, and Haley received 14%.
Trump won in Florida with 81% of the vote against Haley’s 13%, while Biden got all the delegates there.
Both Trump and Biden had already reached the number of delegates needed to secure their parties’ nominations on Super Tuesday last week, with the recent primaries only increasing the number of delegates. Biden currently has 2,482 delegates, whereas Trump has 1,623.
just to be completely clear, the amount of military power and political influence Israel has has NOTHING to do with its settlers being Jewish. Israel is a force for American & European interests in the region and they're just doing what America does and allows/encourages its close allies to do.
war crimes aren't considered war crimes when someone America finds useful is doing them. european and american pushback against anyone criticizing Israeli apartheid & genocide is 100% because these crimes are useful to American & European hegemony.
Governments that are deeply antisemitic, like France, aren't suddenly caring about Jewish people. Jewish people, persecuted the world over, don't hold some kind of hegemonic power outside of Israel.
The state of Israel and its attendant brutal treatment of the locals are both incredibly useful to the US, and American hegemony means we're expected to celebrate both.
not bc they're Jewish. this isn't a break in the pattern of western antisemitism and it's not evidence that antisemitism doesn't exist.
it's just like how you could get fired for saying shit against the US war in Afghanistan when i was growing up. it is 100% about US military and political interests (ok slightly western europe too but lbr)
Question: Who do you plan to vote for in the Republican primaries, next year?
Jimmy Reed: *chuckling* Well, definitely somebody other than Donald Trump or Ron DeSantis! I sure hope those are not the only two who plan to run, but I'm pretty scared.
idk if this is accurate but i’ve felt like in previous seasons riz & gorgug have been one of the inter-bad kids dynamics we’ve seen the least of & this season has been so great in that aspect. gorgug having helped make some of riz’s magic gear. riz helping gorgug with his studies. the shared birthday party. gorgug’s gift to riz being something he himself made to protect riz. riz’s gift to gorgug being something he illegally grabbed to protect gorgug. gorgug who utilizes rage to put his body on the line for his friends & riz who will take deep levels of mental stress for his friends. even though it was within the context of a joke, riz calling gorgug an “absolute sweetie.” like yea they might not be in a band together or both part of a presidential campaign team or owlbears teammates, but they’d go to war for each other, because they’re best friends.
the Bible is a historical document, just not in the way a lot of people think it means when historians say that. regardless of your belief system and no matter your personal feelings, the Bible is a primary source and primary sources cannot be discounted on grounds of "but I don't like it". people not understanding this concept is why you can’t adequately discuss anything concerning said source with them because they kneejerk into “IT’S ALL FAIRYTALES AND LIES!!!” or sometimes “everything happened exactly like that and there’s no debate”. in both cases a regrettable lack of nuance, but far worse so in the former case because those people pretend to be in the camp of “rational science”. something something please develop some historical literacy before you engage in discussions pertaining to (ancient) history.
(This list alone already has +259,000 uncommitted votes. Combined with the +100k from Michigan alone, that's over 359k votes uncommitted. The Uncommitted Washington coalition protest movement is aiming for 132k uncommitted votes in Washington's next Tuesday Primary with widespread support, especially from JVP, the DSA, and United Food and Commercial Workers 3000, which represents tens of thousands of grocery, health care and retail workers.)
US folks living in New York, Wisconsin, Connecticut, or Rhode Island:
today (April 2, 2024) is the Democratic primary election! please please go vote against genocide!
the Vote Uncommitted campaign is sending Biden a message that voters demand a permanent ceasefire now! How it works is people vote uncommitted or undecided or other in large numbers, which will show the democrats that they WILL NOT win the general election in the Fall and Trump will become president unless Biden and the rest of the Dems immediately change their policy on Israel and Gaza. Michigan already turned out over 100,000 people voting uncommitted, which is MORE than the margin Biden won MI by last election and more than the margin Trump won MI by in 2016. Voting Uncommitted matters! So if you’re a US citizen who’s able to vote, make sure you do!!
each state has a different ballot option so please refer to this graphic to see how you should vote in your state!
