anyone else have multiple traumatic memories associated specifically with holidays/family vacations? because that is a topic I never see discussed in all the So You Had A Shitty Childhood, Now What? self-help books i've been reading. but for me, it was a significant thing. and the more i think about it the more it seems like this would be an (unfortunately) common experience. would be grateful to hear if this matches other peoples' experiences...

#not a shitpost #serious post #ask to tag #tw trauma #cptsd #c-ptsd #and if so we should TALK about it #because it means there are a whole group of survivors out there whose mental health regularly worsens during holidays #like i know i am most certainly not the only person who feels an undefined Dread hanging over christmas/my birthday/july 4 etc #bc too many shitty things happened during those times and now my brain is hypervigilant bc traditionally these are the Danger Times #and this seems like it would be particularly common for survivors of abusive/dysfunctional households (aka most people with c-ptsd) #because holidays/vacations typically mean 1) the whole family is together/being forced to interact #2) and undergoing external stressors e.g. travel/relatives aka 'outsiders' visiting/routines & coping mechanisms being interrupted etc #3) there is social pressure for this to be a Fun Family Bonding Experience which only highlights the cracks in the foundation #and exposes the common Everything Is Fine/We Are A Happy Family lie #4) the cognitive dissonance of feeling tired/anxious/stressed/afraid during a time when you are 'supposed' to be Making Good Memories #and then everyone is angry/tired/anxious/triggered and things boil over and something or someone goes Very Wrong #weird that i'm posting this in october when halloween is...sort of the ONLY holiday i have only good and happy feelings towards #i got lucky there #also i have positive feelings towards Labor Day but that's for socialist reasons

I just feel like Jamie would move in with Roy before they ever start dating. Before they even realize that a majority source of their tension is romantic/sexual. First it just makes sense that Jamie comes in after their early morning practice, he needs to eat and Lord knows he can’t cook, but Roy can, and he knows his dietary guidelines and he has a shower and yes it’s only two-in-one shampoo, but he doesn’t need all that fancy shit, just go shower!

But Jamie brings a bag of toiletries the next morning because he’s not subjecting his beautiful hair to that monstrosity again, and then it only makes sense that he’d have a change of clothes, because the first time he’d had to borrow stuff from Roy, and he doesn’t think anyone on the team noticed but Beard had given him one of those weird looks of his and Jamie isn’t meant for black or dark heather charcoal so he brings his own stuff.

And then it makes sense to ride in to Richmond with Roy because they’re going back to his place after for their next training and more home cooked meals and maybe sleeping over makes total sense because they’re going to be up and training at four anyway

And then it’s been weeks, months, and Jamie is at Roy’s more than he’s home, and even the off season keeps the same way, except they don’t go in to practice during the day and Jamie convinces Roy to play FIFA with him and Roy cooks and makes Jamie read and watch old movies and they hang out with Phoebe together because she adores Jamie and Jamie adores and spoils her and Roy goes to visit Georgie and Simon because why wouldn’t he?

All of this to say I honestly think they’d get married before ever going on a first date because to them it just makes sense.

hey everypony! so I have noticed a thing- a lot of people don't think sky is chubby? and I can totally see why- cuz I have been failing to draw him like I actually want him in the comic! and the reason I think this is happening is becuz I have him right next to wild (wild is a very skinny creature XD ) so my brain is going- "ah yes- this is a big sky" but then he is just drawn not the way I want him ;-; I'm gonna try to fix this in the future!!! so if you suddenly see a bigger sky than what he was last update- then that's why XD ( also side note! he is drawn skinny in chapter 1 cuz I was scared people were gonna be angry that I made him chubby- but over time when I saw people really liked fat warriors I changed him too! )

I'm incredibly soft about the fact that the people Caleb shares a sending stone with aren’t the mighty nein members who live furthest away, but the ones who live the closest. That, when also taking into account the easy invitation to dinner and request for a spare bedroom (and the mention that Caleb has the worst timing when calling, implying he calls often) makes so much known about their domestic lives. How often does Yasha make a quick call to invite Caleb for dinner to try some new (barely edible) dish? How often do Caleb and Beau stay up late doing research, with him staying the night in the guest room? How often does Caleb call in the middle of the night with a question?

The nein getting together for adventuring is fun, but man, I'd absolutely sit down for a few hours of them just being domestic and settled like this.

Ushijima-Oikawa parallels with Kageyama-Hinata

To me, Ushijima and Oikawa are like a tragic parallel to Hinata and Kageyama. If Oikawa had gone to Shiratorizawa then he and Ushijima could've had the partnership that Kagehina had. But because he didn't, they will never know what it's like to make the other feel invincible.

Shipping goggles aside, the parallels have to be intentional (haikyuu is too well-written for it to be just a coincidence): Both Ushijima and Kageyama were framed as naturally gifted volleyball monsters. Meanwhile Oikawa and Hinata believed that they were just average (even though the people around them know that they have their own strengths). Ushijima was the one who kept winning against Oikawa, just like how Kageyama was always ahead of Hinata. Both Hinata and Oikawa went abroad to gain experience so they could finally beat their rival. Ushijima and Kageyama are both awkward, intimidating, and ASD-coded while Hinata and Oikawa are framed as easy-going extroverted chatterboxes. These pairs are literally so similar it's crazy. Look at them and tell me it's not intentional

It also makes sense when you consider that their playstyles are also complementary. Kageyama and Hinata were a good match for each other because Hinata needed Kageyama's precision and Kageyama needed someone agile to match his own speed. But Ushijima's only requirement is for the ball to be set high and the right distance from the net so it's easy to hit. And which setter is known for dedicating themselves to their spikers, giving them easy sets? Oikawa. They truly could've been a terrifying duo.

I think Furudate was trying to show what Kageyama and Hinata could've been if they didn't team up. They'd still be strong, sure, but not invincible like they were in Karasuno. (as opposed to the Miya twins, who were supposed to show what they could've been like if they had an equal from the very beginning)

But in the end it all worked out for everyone! They all got to play on the world stage together. Ushijima and Oikawa even had their reconciliation at the all stars match (still waiting on the Oikawa-Kageyama reconciliation please please please 👀). They're all happy so I suppose it isn't actually tragic. I just cant help but wonder what could have been if Ushijima and Oikawa learned what it's like to be each other's greatest ally. Hinata and Kageyama were so lucky to have found each other after all.
