this sounds, um, very different from the last time I uploaded something titled “Amadeus Prologue (Demo)” because, as is the case with demo games, things change rapidly. I needed it to be less percussive and more ambient, and I also wanted to throw a weird synth in there for #funzies.
it still needs a lot of work to feel *right* but it feels much better. and slowly improving “better” until it gets to “right” is the best way to make progress am i right
One year ago we released this short, sweet spin-off game for O2A2 Game Jam, and today, the soundtrack is yours to download for free!
(It's also a wonderful track to have on in the background while you're writing stories, reading books, browsing your local library, or doing any of Hugo's other favourite activities. The world is your oyster! ✨)

Lots of work is happening behind the scenes to transform the Amadeus demo (which you can play in-browser for free!) into a complete game. Next devlog will be posted at the end of the month; to tide you over until then, I'll be uploading the demo soundtrack to YouTube in weekly installments.
This track was a fugue written as a counterpoint assignment that I then turned into a fully mixed piece for the demo soundtrack. My professor's feedback on the composition: "this is a BEAST of a fugue" (his all-caps, not mine). That's how you know it's good <3
