Genuine question, but is restorative/ transformative justice useful for addressing hate groups?
I was under the impression that the prevention of violence extended to hate groups, but I keep seeing the reoccurring message from some people that incels, for example, don't need compassion or community (reasoning being, that they became incels because of their entitlement and superiority complex, which would not be solved with accountable compassion or community).
But I don't really understand the unspoken alternative? It seems so much worse for the women they'll inevitably interact with to just leave them isolated in their community, edging each other to the extreme.
while i do think some people online genuinely believe that incels are like, broken sociopathic monsters who need to be murdered or abandoned by society because it's their own fault etc, i think most of the time what people mean by that is "the burden of teaching men not to hate women should not be on women; men are still responsible for their own hateful actions; they are not owed my compassion or empathy, even if it would 'help' them". it's also backlash to the fact that people like incels often get painted as poor little victims in a way many other people (like the women they hate so much) do not.
that being said, everything that happens to anyone ever happens in community, whether people like it or not. total individualism is fake + any leftist worth their salt knows this. if the only way you can imagine someone having accountability for their actions is to believe that something is entirely, 100% their fault with absolutely no outside influences or nuance, then nobody can never be held accountable for anything. everyone needs compassion + community (i would argue the benefit many ppl derive from hate group membership is a sense of community), but i wouldn't say they are owed it by any individual. i would also say that the way in which compassion/community is applied (often when there is no political analysis + it's just based on appeals to "everyone has good inside them" or "love away the hate") in these cases can become just a way of reinforcing an echo chamber, refusing to challenge someone's beliefs, or silencing the people harmed (critiquing ppl for not being "good" victims or not having compassion for their abusers).
ppl often misunderstand restorative approaches as being "lesser" or "letting people off" when they can often require more accountability + more demonstration of change than a carceral approach. it is not synonymous with "loving someone's hate" or "letting them off easy". i mean, under the u.s carceral system, membership in most hate groups is not illegal. even when it becomes legally relevant, the people who are actually harmed are rarely centered in these approaches- it's just a bloodfest over how much we can punish people so we can show off how we think misogyny is super bad even as the court system continues to be one of, if not the most prolific perpetrator of misogyny + victim blaming. as if a handful of violent misogynists' suffering is supposed to be vindication or deterrence (when it never rlly is).
ultimately, there are tens of thousands of reasons why someone may be a member of a hate group, but it usually boils down to the fact that they are deriving some sort of benefit- financial, emotional, familial, cultural, interpersonal, etc- for doing so. some people would probably respond really well to a restorative approach because they would be capable + interested in delving into why they believe these things + how they could get their needs met without harming others. others are fully aware of the fact that they are deriving benefit at the expense of others + simply do not care or, worse, that is the benefit for them- the hurting other people/feeling superior to others. part of moving outside of the logic of the carceral system is moving past the idea that every individual person must be either punished or saved, rather than focusing on the conditions which create hate groups + give them power.
there may be a lot of individual members of hate groups who would not benefit from restorative practices, but we can still make hate group membership as undesirable + lacking benefit as possible, minimize the amount of power + resources they have to do harm, magnify the amount of power + resources the people they are harming have access to. to me, this is restorative, because it focuses on minimizing harm rather than punishing perpetrators + centers around people who have been harmed. further, if we understand the needs or desires that often drive hate group membership, we can work to make those needs/desires easier to fulfill through less destructive means + do the structural work of addressing why, for example, so many teenage boys have a need/desire to feel sexually dominant or 'alpha'.
the biggest restorative work to me is not based on any one individual, but on making the pathways into hate groups as narrow as possible + the pathways out as broad as possible, while still emphasizing accountability + capacity for change.

(T/N: The photos show excerpts from The Agony of Eros by Han Byung-Chul.)
Picture Translations:
...constitutes an essential element of experiencing Eros. Heterogeneity is what dictates the essense of an entity that is not one's own self. And the reason one tries to find this quality in a strictly primitive relationship belonging to Eros - that is, a relationship that cannot be translated with one's existing abilities - lies here. The absoluteness of what one can do is what destroys another person. A successful relationship with someone else is regarded as a sort of failure. This is due to the other person being able to reveal themselves solely through the fact that they can't. "Can we really specify this kind of relationship of Eros related to the other person as a failure?" and once more the answer is "yes, we can" if we were to accept the terms commonly exercised in the description of Eros just as they are. This is so when you try to define Eros with words such as 'to grasp', 'to possess', 'to know'. Those concepts do not exist within the sphere of Eros. From time to time, Eros causes these concepts to fall. In a scenario where we were able to own, grasp and know the other person, it would no longer be someone separate from us. 'To possess', 'to know', 'to grasp' - these are all synonymous to being able to do something.
Today, love has become something positive and has, consequently, transformed into Sexualität: sexual love that falls under a system that awards individuals on their abilities. Being sexually attractive is an asset that needs to continue to grow. A body that is valuable in the way it presents itself will be different from...
...it is neither an abnormality, plot or drama; it is simply an insignificant emotion and the feeling of being aroused. Now, love is unfamiliar with the negativity that comes with wounds, ambush and loss. Even the mere act of falling in love is already too negative as it is. However, it is exactly this negativity that forms the essence of love. "Love isn't just a single possibility. It isn't created depending on our initiative. Without prior warning, love ambushes us and inflicts wounds upon us." A society that is governed by meritocracy, a society where everything is possible and a society where initiative and projects are everything is unable to access love characterised by wounds and agonised passion. Sexual love and romantic love also cannot escape the principle of achievement that dictates every aspect of life in this age…
(https://instagram.com/stories/rkive/3162353181257045551)
With pieces of work being lost, isn't the question of whether there are stories we can now tell of the utmost importance? It's as if we're aged-up adults. I tried to add in phrases that I'm quite fond of here.
Every masterpiece draws forward towards the present.

Everlark (The Hunger Games, Ch. 27)
(this chapter is particularly heart-wrenching when it comes to these two little fools, brace yourselves. it's a long one but there's so much in this chapter to talk about)
katniss expects us to think that she has to work very hard to convince the audience of her love for peeta when this is how she speaks of him: "he looks so clean and healthy and beautiful, i can hardly recognise him. but his smile is the same whether in the mud or in the capitol and when i see it, i take about three steps and fling myself into his arms"
peeta pushing caesar aside whilst kissing katniss without even looking at him. peeta is just so... ugh
again she's letting us know that she's acting all this and it's a whole big performance but when she curls up into peeta on the interview couch and he wraps himself around her and she clutches his hand, it transports her back to the cave, where it was all very natural to her.
"being very free with my kisses" - see, she took part in those kisses, even if she mostly describes them as "peeta kisses me"
throughout the whole night, from the stage to the after party, she doesn't let go of peeta's hand.
again, she's desperate to talk to him, to see him in private
"then peeta's there, looking handsome in red and white" - she's down bad and i feel like she really downplays her emotions in these moments that she sees him. i picture her being completely taken aback by how gorgeous she finds him, like the wind has been knocked out of her.
when peeta mentions that soon they'll be home and haymitch can't watch them all the time, katniss says: "i feel a sort of shiver run through me and there's no time to analyse why" - now this can be taken in two ways. first considering that she's aware she's being watched and it's a sinister shiver. secondly, and what i'm going to go with since peeta is flirting with her again and she says she has no time to analyse why (which is often synonymous with her feeling something big) , is that katniss is a little hor-knee. like the idea of them being alone? thrilling to her! if that's what he kissed me like in front of a screen, what is it going to be like in their absence?! in conclusion, katniss is down bad
i feel like in katniss's nervous answers to caesar, there's a lot of truth. we already know her previous interview strategy was just to tell the truth imagining it's cinna and i really do think what she says in the interviews is the truth because she cannot lie, haymitch knows and peeta knows when she is. this is what she says: "until that point, i just tried not to think about what my feelings might be, honestly, because it was so confusing and it only made things worse if i actually cared about him. but then in the tree everything changed... because for the first time... there was a chance i could keep him" - i don't know about you but i don't think she's lying or embellishing.
later on she says when asked about why she decided to eat the berries, she says "i don't know, i just... couldn't bear the thought of... being without him." again, not a lie because we saw her internal monologues in that chapter, where she literally said that if he died, she'd spend the rest of her life in that arena, trying to think her way out. so yes she thinks she's doing this for the performance but it's all true.
her devastation over him losing his leg. again, an always cool katniss loses her composure. she pulls up his trousers, whispers in horror, shakes her head, and is so worried she's going to cry that she buries her face into peeta's shirt. it takes minutes to coax her back out.
here comes the heartbreak, prepare yourself
when she's on the train going back, she starts to transform back into the old version of herself: katniss, the seam huntress. and she says that as she has this transformation, peeta's arm around her feels alien and she doesn't know how to talk to him. this is where we start to see her associate peeta with the capitol and the games. even though he's the boy with the bread and has been for time.
when peeta picks the wildflowers for her, she reluctantly accepts them and tries to seem pleased. she feels like she's been lying to someone who trusts her, or more accurately two people. clearly she feels like she's betrayed both of them in some ways.
when peeta realises that she's been 'acting' (which again, he prides himself on being able to tell when katniss is lying but he didn't on this whole thing, whatever he felt from her was genuine), he lets go of her hand and she has to take a step, as if to catch her balance. warm steady strong peeta is faltering in the wake of this news and he's let go of her hand and that means she's faltering without him to rely on. what a crazy thing to think so casually.
when he calls her on acting for the games, she says "not all of it [was acting]" and she says this "tightly holding onto my flowers." she is trying to hold onto these flowers he's given her so hard - to stop the feeling of him retreating from her physically and emotionally, to steady herself using something he's given her.
she's so focused on him she can hear every footstep he takes back to the train.
poor heartbroken peeta, who really just loved her so fully he didn't even think it could be an act. my heart hurts for both of them so much in this moment.
her looking out for if she sees him over the next day or two but she doesn't. and when she does, he's expressionless and this hurts her.
i think it's telling that while she's thinking all this she says: "that it's no good loving me because i'm never going to get married anyway and he'd just end up hating me later instead of sooner. that if i do have feelings for him, it doesn't matter because i'll never be able to afford the kind of love that leads to a family, to children. and how can he? how can he after what we've just been through?"
point 1: as someone who's been this person, this screams of katniss distancing herself from something good because she's in her head about it and believes she can't have/doesn't deserve it. this is how that thinking works and once you've done it yourself, you recognise it.
point 2: peeta has never actually said he wants marriage and babies. katniss is just fully imagining this. like she is imagining the possibility of marriage and babies with him and is trying to cut that thought before it blooms.
"i also want to tell him how much i already miss him" i actually felt this in my own chest. she LOVES that boy. capital L love.
when she hears his voice is hollow rather than angry, she's devastated. she can feel the boy with the bread slipping away from her. remember the opposite of love is indifference? she'd rather he hated her. going from love that blooms to hollowness? why don't you just throw her off the cornucopia to the mutts.
"i take his hand, holding on tightly... dreading the moment when i will finally have to let go" ugh. UGH.

Episode 6 wasn't actually the first time Cyn attempted to take control of Uzi.
She tried TWICE in episode 4. The first when Uzi caught the arrow would've been successful however the arrow was too small, that's why it causes the organic thing.
Meanwhile the second time is a bit odd. While Cyn's code appeared for a while, it seems to eventually be overrun by a set of red code? This set the direction from a NULL portal to transforming Uzi. Why? Don't know.
Cyn could've saw the first attempt as Uzi being too weak so she instead made Uzi some sort of pawn to kill other drones instead, like V in the past.
clarification edit: I'm using Cyn in place of AbsoluteSolver because it's easier to type and as of now they're pretty synonymous in terms of mentions throughout the series, I'm aware Cyn is just the first infect drone.

You remember that time when Zoro told Usopp to stop provoking Sanji because he's going to transform/mutate in rage?
The exact word Zoro said was that Sanji is going to "henshin" 変身 into "something". Henshin is, you know...it's what they say when Power Rangers/Super Sentai and Kamen Rider and Sailor Moon do their transformation.
And, well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Henshin".
Tumblr media
Thriller Bark was years before Germa, so it could be just a throwaway coincidental joke, but this is why I said I don't trust jokes to be jokes anymore. Anything could randomly come back and actually be a real in-universe thing.
Again, Mr Prince, for example. And then the "poorly drawn sketch" in the Wanted poster suddenly materialising as Duval. "Henshin" being referenced as a joke, and then suddenly there's a real "henshin scene" (plus the Germa exoskeleton activating when Sanji is angry).
What next? "Demon (悪魔) of the blue seas" and "foxfire" both has the potential of materialising as a really crazy plot point. Demon of the Blue Sea seems like it could be some sort of upgrade of Ifrit Jambe. "Ifrit" is written as "evil/demon god" 魔神, and this word can also be used as a synonym to "demons" (悪魔), and the flames are blue...

I saw a post on how Lilith and Lamashtu are connected, what is your opinion on it?
I saw this post, and I quite liked it, although I do have some comments.
First, I'd like to point out that the only academic paper I have found (and the only one that is cited by online sources, like Wikipedia and everything else that mentions Lilith within an article on Lamaštu) is "The Transformations of a Goddess: Lillake, Lamashtu, and Lilith" by Wendilyn Emrys. This work has not been peer reviewed, and its author has not yet received a doctorate. Skimming through the document, I can say that its writing is much more casual than your average academic paper. However, it is fairly thorough. I would like to also highlight that its author when out of her way to read an unnamed book on Lilith at a Jewish charity event, citing not-so-great reactions to that as results of Judaism being highly oppressive and "putting extreme constraints on the simple joy of sexual love between partners". That's the most important thing I want to highlight.
The first paragraph of the post is highly important, highlighting the closed nature of Lilith, her Jewishness, and the fact that Lilith is not a Mesopotamian goddess. Too many gentiles love to gesture wildly at the Burney Relief as "proof" that Lilith was some sort of Sumerian goddess as if it hasn't been well-known for ~50 years that it has absolutely nothing to do with Lilith.
The post does synonymize Lilith and Lamaštu slightly more than I would think is accurate, because they have become separated by hundreds of years of separate development. It is not incorrect to think that they are related in some way, as the evidence does absolutely point to such. I also think that boiling Lilith down to the "Jewish version of Lamaštu" is too much of a blanket statement. That's my biggest "issue" with it, but it's not that big of a deal.
I appreciate the non-Jewish "alternatives" to Lilith that are given (i.e.: figures that are actually what gentiles are looking for in Lilith), and it gives a very good rundown of said figures.
That's about it! The post is doing what it's meant to, and I appreciate its goal. I hope I could provide the info you were looking for.

Sorry my words are bad right now but I'm so distressed I have to post
Wall of text
I feel so alienated from the alterhuman community lately. I look in tags and see post after post of coining terms that the coiners don't even use or identify as. Included colorful flags that have no meaning that no one will use or need. That is the archetrope tag ever since Othercon. Where is the discussion of lived experience? I am otherhearted but there is no community, just used as a bonus tag for otherkin posts and moodboards. I am a therian yet feel so increasingly othered even in this community of nonhumans who I thought would feel the way I do about this. I have a hard time finding people who are an animal in the same way as me. Many therians talk of their theriotypes like separate from themselves or just past lives or as some sort of concept but this is everything I am. I cannot say things like "if I was a raven" or "ravens are cool animals," it isn't right because I AM a raven. I don't "identify as a raven." I am one. Very distressing especially because I have CL friends who say therian is identifying as and CL is being the thing, but how can I explain that I am the thing too, I just can't transform? Raven is not just a label for me. I am one. Yet I am not a CL so maybe there is something I'm not understanding about what a therian is, in comparison. And I don't fit in with any fictionkin. Maybe only having one fictotype is a different experience because I devote all my energy into the one. But I cannot relate to most fictionkin. My fictotype can't just be an item on a list. Hard to explain -- "fictotype," "theriotype" aren't just concepts. Like special interest. I have a special interest in biology. I don't have a raven theriotype, I am a raven, so it's my theriotype. Theriotype = species. Synonyms. Not something you have or own. Something you are. For me at least. Maybe I'm wrong and I didn't understand when I learned about it.
This is supposed to be a place where we all feel at home. Where we connect. So maybe something is wrong with me that I can't seem to. It's not like I "take it more seriously" or anything like that. I just have something wrong with me.

2. Do you trust me?
Summary: Jungkook wants to know if you trust him
Word count: 464
Genre: Fluff
Warnings: None.
Tumblr media
“Do you trust me?”
A calloused hand is offered palm up to you. You hesitate to take it.
Trust. It’s a big word, hard to earn and even harder to accept. Do you trust him? This man with big doe eyes, fluffy long hair that you’ve seen him tuck behind his ears, large nose and pink lips. At first glance he seems trustworthy. But you’ve known Jungkook for a few weeks now, have known of him for longer and he’s not a man who you can easily trust.
This man whose ideas come from violence and his actions result in it. You’ve heard the rumours, the death he’s caused, the families he’s torn apart, the destruction he leaves behind. All rumours, the sort of thing Jungkook could convince you are just that, can explain away. But you’ve seen Jungkook’s actions too. Seen the bloodied knuckles, seen hard glares, heard the words, seen the way people act around him.
They may be rumours, but from everything you’ve seen, you believe every last one.
Now, you look from his offered palm up to his face. He raises an eyebrow, pushes his hand a centimetre closer to you. A gentle way to say he wants an answer.
Do you trust him?
Because this is where the debate starts. Because although you’ve heard such terrible things about this man, although you’ve seen him use his fists to solve arguments, you’ve also seen another side of him. Soft isn’t a word synonymous with Jungkook, but he’s been gentle around you. He’s carried you home when you were too drunk to walk. He’s held you when you cried. He’s cleaned your bloody hands with much larger ones with a soft touch. He’s spoken you through things, has defended you, has sought you out through crowded rooms.
Over the past month he’s been there for you both physically and mentally. This dangerous, violent man, his name enough to get some people constantly looking behind them. And yet alone with you, you’ve seen none of that.
So, do you trust him?
You feel wrong even as you reach out and place your hand in his. His face doesn’t transform but there’s a subtle shift. His eyes lighten, his forehead loosening, his shoulders no longer tense. Relief fills him up and settles inside him.
“Come on.”
He doesn’t let go of you. Pulls you gently to his side, hands clasped between you as you walk into the night.
You don’t know where he’s taking you, don’t know what the night holds for you. But something shifts in this moment, something shifts in the relationship between you. Something irreversible, something you can’t take back. And you find that you don’t regret it.
Hand in Jungkook’s, you feel like you’re exactly where you should be.

Some correlations between my HRT with testosterone and some neurodivergent aspects/struggles.
(I made that one in German and did not translate it yet.)
Tumblr media
The plots:
- R is sensory problems - noise is far louder than before I started T. My sensory filters are very poor. I need to put conscious mental effort to "detangle sensory stimuli". The tactile sense/feeling touch and stings is reduced. (I feel far less if someone touches me. I do not even feel the needle of my insuline pump when I have to apply it - which I usually felt. (It felt awful and gave me meltdowns btw. So this is actually a good side-effect of this.))
- T is clumsyness problems (and my tendency to be ambidextrous) Left-right-distinction problems are included in this category as well.
- K is concentration/focus and hyperactivity problems
- S is speaking problems [primarily problems with phonetics, such as difficulty regulating speed, volume, clearness; ...sometimes also word finding difficulties due to overwhelming many ways how to convey the same message in all different kinds of ways (plus too many synonymes)]
- Sy is synaesthesia - sounds turn into sorts of function plots/fractals in my imagination. (Some techno is really like epileptic-seizure-inducing flashlights and I really hate it.) - additionally, this one makes it even more difficult to process visual as well as acoustic information simultaneously - before testo this problem was already present, but now it is really noticable.
- D is depression (primarily this category only has the symptom of low mood, hopelessness, severe sadness listed) > This one went away almost entirely throughout the months.
--------
- The problem of processing spoken language and noise simultaneously is also worse. It's like my brain is like "only one task at a time...Please wait while we detangle this information knot clot... " (ohh, good pun-ny thought: It's like my mind needs to actively use fourier transform to detangle the information clot...)
--------
Overall, I feel far far better under T, despite the increase of my "neurodivergent struggles". Some/many of the listed "problems" are rather interesting opportunities for me. Much has been tough, but the changes are helping me getting my life together. It feels like my neurodivergent "anomalies in cognitive processing" only got a bit amplified by HRT with testosterone. It is very interesting changes, but they appear and feel right.

The Infinite Sky - Chapter 12 - Superstition
"Keep me in a daydream Keep me going strong You don't want to save me Sad is my song" - Superstition, Stevie Wonder
“Hey?”
The woman poses the greeting as a question, which is synonymous with either “Please get the hell away from me” or “What the fuck is wrong with you,” so of course Vanessa stiffens entirely and wonders if she can stand under the elevator shaft and let the convenient transport crush her to death.
Afton must think this scenario to be entirely hilarious, because he walks up to the woman and extends his hand. “New with the merger?”
She absentmindedly shakes his hand. “…Yeah. Listen, I just wanted to make sure I didn’t concuss you into another dimension.”
“I’m Vanessa!” Vanessa exclaims and then reddens and then wants to wave her hands wildly at a security camera so that the glitch kills her where she stands. “…Adesina, I’m Vanessa Adesina.”
The woman nods and uncomfortably smiles. “I’m Raha. Hey, I think I know you, right? Did you…Yeah, you worked for Parasol, right?”
“…I was in IT but now I work here and I’m in security.” Vanessa tries to ignore that Afton’s shoulders bounce in some sort of morbid amusement at the situation.
“Oh, security. That’s cool. I’m in Quality Control. It’s a lot different, I guess, not testing any video games or anything.” The mention of a video game causes Vanessa’s attitude to somersault from childish embarrassment to unending anger, but before she can roll up her sleeves and march toward the woman now introduced as Raha, Raha chuckles and Vanessa’s attitude is quelled by butterflies. “Anyway, yeah, just wanted to make sure that you’re cool.” She awkwardly stands there for a moment before nodding once and walking back toward the kitchen.
Afton turns to Vanessa and laughs. “Love at first sight?”
“No! No. That’s not real.”
“Oh, you’re so bloody dull. Obsessed with feeling sorry for yourself.”
Her eye twitches. “Look who’s talking, asshole…” Vanessa fiddles with her thumbs. “…That’s the woman.”
“…Yes, I can see that, she was indeed a woman.”
Vanessa glares at him. “No, the one that was the playtester or whatever before me. The one that got me goddamn brainwashed by that thing.”
Afton looms down upon her, and for half of a moment, Vanessa thinks that finally, finally, the serial killer will sympathize with her. He’ll offer her a hand and be doting and this will be their bonding moment, and this is how it happened last time, William Afton just felt so sorry for her and needed a new best mate and all she’s ever needed is a new best mate and then the real William Afton clutches his stomach and nearly keels over with laughter. “You, you fancy her? Oh, that’s brilliant, oh my, Christ…”
“I hate you, I hate you, and we both know I can beat you in a fight, and keeping you around was the dumbest idea I’ve ever had—hey, Fred.”

The Transformation phrases came from the English dub, but they aren't exclusive to it.
Several other dubs make use of them.
I know because mine does.
Sort of.
Instead of "spots on", Marinette just says "spots", instead of "Claws out", Adrien literally just says "Nails".
Though that's because in spoken hebrew claws and nails are treated as synonyms.

I like to think that Brainiac 2 comforts himself by thinking after himself things will be better, maybe even normal for his blood line. Surely in at a minimum 1-2 generations everything will work out. And then he meets the ball of messy coping mechanisms that is Querl and just thinks "ah sprock it all"
(I have only read a tiny bit of brainiac 2 stuff, planning on starting L.E.G.I.O.N. soon though to learn more. So these headcannons are currently mostly guesswork sorry) -Brainiacs anon
These are just my own thoughts so you can ignore them however you wish because these are headcanons and interaction with content will always be transformative and diverse.
CW: rape mention
Spoilers for L.E.G.I.O.N. below. I sort of ramble here but I promise it's relevant to what you're saying.
Considering the conditions of Vril having his own son was the result of him being raped I am not sure if he initially thought too much about his bloodline improving much personally. It's not like he is completely detached from Lyrl (his son) as he did step up as a parent at the end of R.E.B.E.L.S. where his mother recoiled from being a parent (there's a lot of reasons why which if you read you will understand).
However, Vril did make a deal with Neron the demon where a soul from his own bloodline would be the payment, this is something Vril agreed to do. The soul was, most likely, Querl's mother Brainiac 4.
Vril does show curiosity about the result of that deal when he meets up with Querl and saves his life from his father.
Tumblr media
DC Showcase '96 #12
Because he even bothered to mention it does show he does at least think about it. In fact, he interrupted to ask. So if he did not think too much about his deal, he definitely started thinking about it more after meeting Querl.
We don't get to see this topic come up from Vril again (his series ended) and you don't see him much until 2009.
When he does show up later he meets an AI version of Querl who gives him advice on how to build his own new Legion, then he ironically saves another version of Querl from his father again.
So Vril got to meet THREE versions of Querl, all unique from each other and none mention anything about the demon Neron. I feel like to Vril this would be either a comfort, or would cause him some anxiety.
One of the great things about L.E.G.I.O.N. and R.E.B.E.L.S. other than it being the anti-superhero superhero comic is that all throughout you do get to see Vril and grow. He still always remains a healthy shade of dark grey but he is unshakable when it comes to wanting to correct injustice, for a price.
I like to think that his first interaction with Querl led him to seriously consider the results of his actions with the demon Neron. I mentioned before that Vril is the type of person to make these outrageous deals but then finds a way to get out of them or 'win' and I think he might try that because the harm was directly a result of his own actions and he has been shown to WANT to be better than his own father.
He is a very complex, flawed and fascinating character that cannot be easily explained so briefly so I hope this makes sense so...
YES I do think he would like to think that eventually his family name would no longer be synonymous with the evils of his father, and on some planets this is fact, BUT he also has a pretty complicated relationship with family and bloodline.
He also was willing to kill his son again because his son went batshit so he's a dumpster fire of a green man.
Welcome to the most dysfunctional family in the whole sprocking galaxy.

I created a little something for Hirmenogaldus on picrew and I decided to post about it. It's not the most accurate depiction, but what can I do乁| ・ 〰 ・ |ㄏ. I don't really do this sort of thing, but it's nice to give it a shot. I'm willing to do the same thing with you guys, gals, and non-binary folk if interested. You can read the interpretation I've written or ignore it.
Tumblr media
This depiction is about Hirmenogaldus and what she views herself. On the left is her usual noble self, ready to protect the vulnerable and battle monsters. The laurel is a symbol of triumph, being synonymous with achievement. With this in mind, it represents her numerous victories and a desire to be consistently triumphant. The monstrous hand is the fear of becoming beastly and unrecognisable due to her psychic power and superior knightly skill. She's deeply afraid of transforming into a marked beast as she's the last holy knight to exist. The jarring scar is one of many she bears, representing the horrors and sins of her past and present. Her blue eyes are a representation of her deep sorrow and the wisdom she has built upon throughout her years. Her dress is a clear symbol of her noble status. The sword symbolises protection, strength, courage, knighthood, and chivalry. It can also represent the penetrating power of intellect. This all plays well into her character as she takes her job as a protector seriously. She's strategic and strongly prefers to not rely on her brawn. She possesses all of the traits associated with the chivalrous code and that includes bravery.
On the right is a version she wants to forget, to block out entirely. She has suffered horrific abuse at the hands of the Praying House of Älkechirnobus and many others that surrounds her life. That version of her is chained and bandaged, broken beyond repair. The fairy in her hand is a symbol of yearning innocence and a desire to become greater than all of life. It also represents her curiosity in non-humans (or Æylphitus), the occult, folklore, legends, and mythological beliefs. It's also a future omen of her eventual duty to fight the non-humans off. The fairy is also a symbol of how the Praying House of Älkechirnobus forcibly took her away from her beloved home. By doing so, this allowed them to train her into the ideal warrior, a holy knight. It's an odd connection, but fairies were often blamed for kidnapping children and adults, replacing them with a changeling. Her rogue-like clothing is a representation of her training as a holy knight. The veil represented her strong obedience to her kingdom and the chastity she tried to hold onto during her time with the church. That all changed when she began to form legitimate relationships and had her first child. It can also represent her secrecy and false ignorance of her past, trying to keep it to herself out of fear of ridicule. Just keep in mind that people in the medieval era didn't have a good view on mental health issues as nobody clearly understood them.
This is my interpretation and thank you so much for @nunezs-stuff for recommending this picrew to me.

Isn't it kinda weird that pk hatched out of his old body from an egg? Or maybe it was a cocoon or chrysalis? Kinda odd imagining a grown ass man clawing his way out of an egg. Pondering after seeing art on twitter of pk hatching.
Mmmm nooot really? Maybe I'm unphased by it because I've seen weirder shit in the insect world, but it wasn't all that difference from a metamorphosis of sorts, so I assume he was mimicking insects with a larval stage and an adult form. Because in some of those species, the caterpillar/grub phase isn't actually synonymous with being a juvenile; there are some where the females grow to be sexually mature and the males only metamorphose so that they can fly to her and fertilize her, and in many moth species, the mating-stage metamorphosis is right before they die, meaning they spend pretty much their entire lives as a caterpillar before they go out with a bang (much like salmon). Such logic could also be why the maggots in Hollow Knight appear to live their entire lives as such and are looked down upon for it- maggots are the larval stages of beetles, but they don't seem to have undergone that metamorphosis, so perhaps they are mocked and trodden on because failing to do so is seen as a flaw. They're adults, they just retain juvenile features and likely will continue to do so unless something forces their transformation.
So using the logic of those species, PK undergoing a metamorphosis and crawling out of a cocoon built from his own body really isn't all that strange, especially since his new form is the final shape he'll take (much like the bugs who also undergo such a process). In fact, it actually fits quite well, because his time as the King of Hallownest was the last stage of his life after countless years living as a wyrm, so in that aspect, he actually mimicked the life cycles of the bugs he ruled over- the Moths and Beetles- quite well.
