Request- 'Modern au farmers market stall owner Halsin meeting dashing fashion model Astarion!'
I don't know who put him in a bad mood, maybe Cazador is a big name designer and Astarion is one of his models, but he's treated badly and wants to quit.
[ty to papa rye for the sound business model line, and general vibes!]

Imagine the fellowship showing each other pictures and paintings of themselves as children
Everyone cooes over Gimli with the tiniest little beard and mini axe, the Hobbits all sleeping in a little pile of curls and tails, Aragorn in formal elven clothing but his hair is still as messy cause they couldn’t style it even if they tried, Boromir holding a baby Faramir cause he refused to part with him after he was born
And then Legolas shows the ugliest fucking thing any of them had ever seen, looking like a fleshy newborn bird with enormous eyes and ears, and he’s proudly boasting over how he’s seen as one of them most beautiful elven infants in millennium, and the rest of them are afraid to say anything because What The Fuck

Silmarillion concept that has me gnawing on the bars of my enclosure today: all of Elrond's parents are terrifying eldritch beings actually.
Maedhros, with white fire pouring from his eyes, taken from the jaws of death anything but unchanged. Some whisper that he's not elvish anymore, not since his captivity. They can never quite agree on what that makes him, exactly.
Maglor, with a voice no elf ever should've had, beautiful and terrible and powerful enough to shake the mountains. Sailors along Middle-Earth's west coast whisper of a sea wraith, some horrible siren that roams the beaches on the darkest nights.
Earendil, a man made an elf, a star, a maia if some are to be believed. Slayer of dragons, guardian of the void. Someone who's spent so along around the Silmaril and the Ainur that some of that power lives within him now.
Elwing, a skin-changer with a voice and a laugh that sound like they were taken from a bird's throat. A witch who lives in a lighthouse, where the animals flock and the plants grow strangely. None of the Amanyar would admit to being scared of her, but few will venture in sight of her odd little realm.
And then there's Elrond, ring-bearer, Lord of Rivendell, kind as a summer.
Well, let's just say it probably helps that no one is expecting him to be normal. Or elvish. Or entirely comprehensible.

Weird Al made a Christmas movie where he played a villain who was kidnapping Santa’s elves, but people thought it was real and he got taken to court over it. There were posts all over Tumblr and Twitter about how he was now problematic whether he did it or not because even if he didn’t he still ENDORSED elf-kidnapping by playing this character.

I absolutely love that high status elves wear capes. like most of the time they're functionally dorkier cloaks, but then you have the Neverseen in actual cloaks, and it's like. the only fashion difference between being a noble and being evil is a hoodie

Honestly, shout out to Oropher and Thranduil for not getting involved in the incest party.
Legolas politely doesn’t think about the fact that Elladan, Elrohir, and Arwen’s family tree is a wreath, because honestly, he finds it super weird. The amount of times Legolas has had to restrain himself from clapping back at any comments about his family with “yeah, well at least our romantic interests isn’t made up exclusively of our cousins” is surreal.
Legolas, when Aragorn and Arwen fall in love: so! I love and support you both, i would die for you! But would it kill ya’ll to stop falling in love with your cousins?!? I know it’s technically the nth time removed, but still!

those "dragon age fans are mad that baldur's gate 3 fans have something/how come they get to be happy" posts are so funny to me b/c i legit thought the venn diagram of people who would be into these two games was a circle.
like real talk, instead of pining for da4/staring jealously at bg3 enjoyers, you too can pick up bg3 (available now if you have pc, in september if you're on console), you will probably enjoy the shit out of it and it will keep you warm through the long nights/weeks/months/years until da4 comes out (also check out divinity original sin 2 while you're about it! similar vibes, lots of hot npcs to romance, including a broody ancient skeleton man who is weirdly hot, fun combat to be had, plot to enjoy, corpses to eat ԅ(☉Д☉)╮)

some of you are confused under the post that shows astarion's date of birth and date of "death". so first of all, it's a fact that in dnd 5e elves do grow up the same way humans do. a 39 year old is still that age. he wouldn't look like a child or a teen! "not an adult elf" is not literally true. it's a social thing among elves. think about it... someone who is hundreds of years old would look at a 70 year old human/elf and think... that's a baby. they also view humans that way, but surely we don't think a 39 year old human is not mature. it is just a fantasy thing, it makes sense that if such old people existed they would view younger people this way. so "not an adult by elven standards" is simply because of how old elves view younger people, elves included. let's just clear that up.
Also this made you all wonder how he could have been a magistrate. He is from baldur's gate which is a mixed society, not a society of elves. I highly doubt baldurians have a rule that only hundred year olds are allowed positions of power. then humans could never have positions. in elven society they might not give such a position to a 39 year old because they respect their elders more. but there is no difference between 39 year old elf and 39 year human mentally. ofc he can legally have a position in a place like baldur's gate.
plus during early access, he had the noble background. Why are you so confused that he could be a magistrate at the age of 39? As if rich/noble families don't ever use their connections to help someone in the family get a high paying job. lol He wouldn't need to grind for hundreds of years.
(and one more thing... in the tags under that post I wrote that the rune for 6 and 9 are similar so there is a chance that the date of "death" is 30 years later... which would make him 69. but from what I have seen, others also translated the year as 1268 and not 1298. still, if he was 69 that would mean he was turned nearly 200 years ago, but not quite 200 which is what he says in most dialogues. but it doesn't even matter because 69 is still below 100. so we could have the same conversation... under 100 does not mean not an adult.)

i saw a video about the Queen in Dungeon Meshi and her skin colour. and people in the comments had all sorts of theories on why she and Flamela have such dark skin. and it made me realise that a lot of people haven’t seen this page of the Adventurers Bible:

this is a largely meaningless observation but, based on the fleki uniform demonstration comic, mithrun seems to wear the default style of the canary uniform, probably because he has no desire to personalize it or preference for how to do so, etc. when he does seem to pick his own clothes, though, they don’t look super in-line with what we’re shown of elven clothing styles in his region: high collars look like they’re fairly popular with elves in general, but out of uniform he tends to be a lot more covered up than everyone else—long sleeves, long pants, boots rather than sandals, and he dresses that way both prior to getting eaten and after the events of the series. anyway it’s kind of cute that after everything that happened to him, someone cared enough to remember what his clothing preferences used to be.

I’ve seen what’s on your mind. I know it well, a tale as old as time. You’re infatuated with what I represent to you. You'll eventually find something else to obsess over. At least the view is great. I... appreciate the moment.
(I was at it again, torturing myself with insane amounts of small details. Why do I draw heavily textured or intertwined details on most elf outfits? I just imagine it's something they'd culturally have because of historical and psychological reasons.)
