I'm terrible at making titles.

Been in a slump since I made a decision regarding boundaries recently. So been binge watching The Untamed.

The downside to doing this is now I want to write a half dozen one-shots of Wen Ning living a safe and happy life far away from all the shit he had to go through. (some spoilers for The Untamed below. And if you haven't watched it yet and are avoiding spoilers. Watch it. It's worth it).

It struck me during this re-watch how very similarly I view Jin Guangyao and Xue Yang. Probably because of what's going on in my life. Where family is at the root of my current depressive slump. But both of these characters had the chance at a found family. Something they both seemed desperately to want in some fashion (The drive to belong). But insecurities and past trauma meant they both ultimately ruined that.

Also found it interesting how they both chose to mock cultivators who did their damnedest to do what they felt was right. Both of those cultivators then dying. Though obviously Xue Yang felt the loss of Xiao Xingchen much harder than Jin Guangyao felt the loss of Nie Mingjue. I do admit I always felt that Jin Guangyao honestly felt a brotherly affection for Nie Huaisang. There's just always been something a bit like guilt on his face when he's holding him back.

At the end of the day, the characters I sympathize with the most are Wen Ning and the Juniors. (Though I do have a soft spot for Wen Qing, Jiang Cheng and Nie Huaisang).
