#which is lovely for us and all but also tbh pretty unrealistic. I think about this sometimes especially when I go to shows alone.

With all respect, I think u guys give jkr's writing skill too much credit . Ik she said she planned everything abt hp books from the beginning( I don't believeit tbh), but she wrote some of the weirdest dumb stuff ever for the sake of the plot that don't make any sense ... Remus's life and even his name, for example. The fact that Remus hasn't visited Harry for almost 12yrs is ridiculous . "He thought Harry was safe - he felt worthless. He was a coward. " wtf?! No he didn't do it bc Harry shouldn't know abt his parents and wizarding world the End. srslyWheree were lily's friends? Oh they all passed away...Harry's grandparents THEY ALL PASSED AWAY ...problem solved (jkr is so good at this) and plus imo that also happened simply bc if Remus checked on Harry, he would be a father figure to him 100% (the role given to Sirius), and jkr didn't want Harry to have the same close connection with Remus as he did with Sirius. It would make harry -Sirius's relationship unimportant... Take Sirius's other relationships, for example. When he escaped Azkaban, he had no family, no lover, no one. Initially, I was like, "Yeah, okay," and that seemed fine. But later, it occurred to me that maybe he was written that way because he had to be solely for Harry. Like, he shouldn't care about anyone but Harry. Sirius isn't allowed to prioritize anyone over his godson.
to be fair, anon, i think two things can be true at the same time. a lot of stuff does happen in the hp universe for plot reasons---this doesn't necessarily mean it's always bad writing.
the plot required harry to be unaware of the wizarding world, alright. i don't see how this means remus would've taken, like, custody of harry or something if it hadn't! remus IS a coward. he IS extremely self flagellating. it IS completely plausible that he knew petunia wasn't a great person and left harry there anyway!
(take DH for example. he says tonks will be safe with her parents right after he tells them that her parents have been tortured for information. he isn't a stupid man, he's being deliberately cowardly.)
i understand that you probably really like remus, or at least the good bits of him, but character traits you dislike do not equal bad writing. remus consistently shows himself to be extremely passive-aggressive, conflict avoidant and unable to actually follow through on his conscience. i don't know about you, anon, but i can definitely see a man who convinced himself that withholding information about a wanted murderer was OK, convincing himself that harry is safe and better off without him.
jkr didn't have to use plot reasons to thwart remus and harry's budding relationship so that sirius could step in because...there isn't a scenario that exists wherein canon remus would step in to be an orphaned harry's father figure. i'm genuinely curious as to why you think he might. THAT, if anything, is what seems ooc to me.
as for lily, that seems to be pattern with jkr's 'popular girls'. i can't name five of ginny's friends if my life depended on it. it was also obviously done so that the snape reveal would have a greater effect. but lily isn't an established character the same way remus is.
as for sirius? i don't think it's unrealistic that he didn't have a lover/anyone waiting for him. i think people tend to forget he was only barely 22 when he got locked up; plenty of people haven't begun sorting out their lives at that age. lest we forget, he was also fighting a war pretty much the second he left hogwarts. not great for the dating scene, that. i don't think it's unrealistic at all that he hadn't thought about girls (or boys) or settling down at that time in his life.
but even if he had, i can't fathom a world in which he wouldn't transfer the love and devotion he had for james to james' son.

oops! i did it again. lessons from this school year...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey, you remember that post I made about my winter term priorities? HAHAHAHAHahaha ha ha. That plan totally went to shit, but it's all part of the journey, right? 😅 (Tbh, it's quite difficult to make a conscious effort to change yourself when the default response to being and feeling busy is to go on autopilot -> all the unconscious habits, even if unhealthy, take control, and bc it's unconscious, you don't realize it until it gets quite bad! anyway! no more! my future plans make it so this will be impossible to do while still retaining some sense of sanity. so to prep, we're gonna slowly implement little changes so hopefully it's not so overwhelming that i give up)
🧘🏻‍♀️ comparing mindsets in fall and winter term
Fall term was not that bad bc I had 2 STEM subjects I really really loved and was interested in (biochem and mol bio 💕), and despite their difficulty, that love and interest and the feeling that "I am in the right field for me" kept me positive. There were times I thought I would feel burnout symptoms if I wasn't careful, but I really think that positivity protected me from the worst of it.
Winter term, however...I had one favorite subject: moral philosophy, which led to me wistfully dreaming about an AU in which I double majored in philosophy and piano performance, lol. After the highs of biochem and mol bio and the natural ease with which the bits of info flowed together in those subjects, I did not enjoy pharmacology or the 2nd half of psyc as much -> loss of interest -> negativity and feeling like I'm in the wrong field bc how dare I not like pharmacology (or psychology) as much as the other life science-y subjects when it's really so important for us to survive and thrive! 😅 I mean, there were times I could get that spark from pharmacology or psyc, but it wasn't often enough or intense enough to keep me consistently inspired throughout the semester. The feeling of "maybe I don't have what it takes and I'm in the wrong field" was compounded by the re-realization that there's sm to know of bioinformatics and I struggle to know any of it! Persevering is important, but it's harder to persevere with a negative mindset.
😤 what went wrong this school year and what i learned from it
I still struggle with perfectionism (and bc of it, procrastination). While it might not be as bad as it was in high school, I still spent too long on assignments that weren't worth much and during finals season, was so scared of getting less than 90% just to keep up my A+ streak. Like, I'm pretty sure no one who cares to know your GPA cares about whether you have an A+ streak or not. I have too high a threshold for what is a "disappointing" grade. I also struggle with deep regret about how I haven't mastered everything they throw at us in each course... definitely an unrealistic expectation, especially as the proportion of new info to absorb increases with each course. I did what I could using what I knew to do, so it is what it is. I may find ways to make improvements and learn more, but I won't beat myself up for not having known to do those things in the past.
Did not use effective study methods. Since first year, my problem has been keeping up with the readings and my solution has been to just use typed outline notes. It worked for the first few years when it was mostly review from previous courses with a few new concepts in between. But as I progress through my degree, the proportion of completely new info is increasing. This notetaking method won't work anymore bc it just causes cognitive overload, especially during exam season (when I've mostly forgotten the details of everything that isn't smth I've already known for years). E.g. for pharmacology, I got so bogged down by the details of all the drug classes that I didn't see the big picture and so didn't organize the info according to it. This made it hard to see patterns and better chunk the info. I was so stressed during finals season bc of this (and the sheer amount of notes that I had to read for psyc 😭). What makes it feel like even more of a problem is that the cognitive overload problem from my notetaking method has been a thing for all other uni courses thus far, it's just that pharmacology was the first time I needed to create a stronger connecting thread between the otherwise disparate pieces of info (drug classes). In all other courses, that thread was part of the nature of the topic being studied so I eventually understood it as I kept going and mentally re-organized it in my brain...but even then it was hodge-podge and so my depth of mastery was and is so flimsy, and every semester I leave feeling drained and like I wasted the opportunity to maximize my learning. (How dramatic I get about this is also probably tied to my perfectionism, but I still think it would greatly benefit future me to change my notetaking style.)
🎓 advice for future me
Look at the academic calendar, specifically the faculty course descriptions. Look at how many hours they say you should expect to spend on each activity in the course. Try to use those learning hours as a guide for your schedule so that you don't spend too long on an item that isn't worth much. If there isn't such a breakdown, assume one based on whatever they give you or other courses and adjust from there.
Be a more efficient reader by skimming the text first so you can map the flow of info in a way that best creates ease of understanding/synthesis/memory (e.g. via an outline, tree diagram, flowchart, mind map, or simple drawings - and noticing when a list/outline will NOT be helpful bc it'll just be too overwhelming and not easy to compare/contrast info and see patterns). I knowww you've survived thus far without doing it this way and done well, BUT with this many courses, the increasing complexity of each subject, and the overload of info in each, you WILL need to do this to make quicker work of the readings, save you sooo much stress during exam seasons, and improve how much you learn while in school which is the real goal you've wanted to achieve all this time. Don't repeat the mistake you made in pharmacology. And it really doesn't have to be aesthetic and you definitely should NOT get caught up with it if you really wanna learn. You could just use one color for everything and a highlighter and just basic shapes/lines - that alone can be way more effective than boring paragraphs/lists or a colorful, overly complex diagram that'll just distract you from the main point.
Create a realistic daily routine (wake-up and sleep times, start and end times for schoolwork) and be strict about following it. Set your non-negotiables for personal goals to keep up with alongside your schoolwork bc academics aren't everything. Remember how you regretted not devoting more time to extra-curriculars and other skills in high school which would've rounded you out as a person. You can try theming the parts of the day so that you don't have to think about what task you should do first after study breaks and keep up the momentum (e.g. mornings for readings and notes, afternoons for active recall/homework). Then you can live the rest of the day after school as structured or unstructured as you wish. If this strategy doesn't work for you, you don't have to use it.
Take advantage of interleaving so you don't get bored. Whether by following the theming strategy or just switching subjects every hour, idc if you aren't done yet, you better switch bc the second consecutive hour of the same thing is never as effective as the first.

LATE NIGHT THOUGHTS WITH MISSY!!!1!1!1!1!1!
this is about atsv and just the spiderverse in general cause I just love it sm BUT ANYWAYS!!!!!
has anyone ever realized just how like CREEPY the concept of the spiderverse is? like if I was in a room where it was different versions of me, who have lived different lives and made different decisions along with its consequences, I’d be freaking tf out 😭😭😭 especially when miguel brings up the canon event theory and how in the end spiderman looses SOMEONE. it’s like the spiderperson is bound to suffer no matter what they do just because they got bit by a spider.
also what got me thinking about this and how existential it is was when in the comics of the spiderverse (idk which it was but I kinda remember what happened) pavitr was talking to another spiderman about how they’re all different variations of one person and aren’t completely unique or original. he even thought he didn’t do enough as spiderman and just felt like he wasn’t achieving as much as the others. which leads me to my other point as to how overwhelming it can be to be a spiderperson. like not only is it kinda unnerving knowing that there’s another you somewhere in the universe and also along with the fact that ur made for suffering, but there’s different spidermen and women who have probably done more than you and it just leave you like “oh wow im pretty fucking bad at this lol!”
and then along with atsv, it’s even creepier when you think that maybe, before miles, there were other spiderpeople who were against Miguel’s canon event theory. his theory barely makes sense but it also does??? but how can you even begin to use logic on the multiverse, which (in the wise words of dr strange) “we know terrifyingly little of.” like ik that Miguel’s universe is way more advanced than the others, but again the universe is constantly changing and expanding, which can cause new ways and concepts that we probably won’t be able to figure out for years. and what ended up happening to those spiderpeople who were against him?
ALSOOOO let’s talk about Pavitr’s dimension because JESUS CHRIST???? ITS LITERALLY GETTING SUCKED IN BY A BLACK HOLE (LIKE HOW OETER WARNED IN THE FIRST MOVIE) AND NOBODY IS WORRIED??? ALSO UHH CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE FACT THAT IN HIS EARTH’S ALCHEMAX, THEY WERE BUILDING A FUCKING COLLIDERRRRRRR?!(&3@2@2 LIKE WHO AUTHORIZED THAT?? was it mfin KINGPIN or did scientists feel a little silly and decided to build a whole ass machine that can create a rip in the fabric of space. AND THE FACT THAT IT ALSO WORKED TOO BRO…. LIKE UHMMM???
and then what’s gonna happen to pavitrs dimension bro 🤨 because I’m sure we’ve all seen that one picture from one of the artists giving a whole visual set to how the spiderverse net thing works. dimensions aren’t completely gone, but rather disconnected…. so what about gabi’s too 😭😭 it literally said that it was just snapped off, and spiders can always weave their webs back together. in the image we also show how pavitr’s isn’t completely unattached, but holding on by a few threads. would they end up finding a way to fix it???
also I’ve had this unrealistic theory lmao where they travel back in time and the entire story just resets!!!! it’s silly but tbh since we know time traveling is possible since Hobie’s universe is based in the 70s? im pretty sure AND GWEN TIME TRAVELED A WEEK WHEN SHE FIRST WENT TO MILES DIMENSION BRO. like maybe the way to fix things is if the collider never happened, because that was the root of the entire problem, right? idk man but it’s just there’s so many possibilities and i cannot fucking wait 😭😭😭

Honestly, same.
I’m torn between hating his guts (because I don’t like people like him in real life, his beliefs make me wanna smash my head against the wall, he’s cold, lacks empathy and feels superior to everyone. And he fucking brainwashes and kills others, wtf. Also I think he could easily get inside my head and mess with me, so no thanks.) and liking him because I’m SUPER attracted to intelligence (I’m very picky but traits like intelligence literally sweep me off my feet). And I’m guilty of wanting what I can’t have and craving affection from people who would never give that to me (or others), idk to feel like “yes, I’m definitely worthy if the most emotionally unavailable person likes me” (*cough* daddy issues *cough*).
And he fuels my perfectionism, I can’t help but compare myself to fictional characters and raising my standards for myself to an unachievable level (he can think 10.000 steps ahead of everyone and outsmart them every time? He always has pretty much fool-proof plans for every imaginable scenario? Why can’t i do that??? I must be stupid) beside that, he triggers my “oh you think you’re better than me? Fuck Fight me, bitch!” response, like what I have with dominant characters in general (I have to top them assert dominance >:\ someone like him thinking they’re superior to me would crush the last bit of self-esteem that i have).
*Psychoanalysis Over*
And…ME? A soft spot for him???
Tumblr media
Pls dont call me out like that, I’m still in denial, but my ovaries are winning… :(
I dislike Fyodor in a sense where he annoys me with his very stereotypical/unflexible beliefs and ideas and being a hypocrite (i mean almost all bsd characters are hypocrites but yk what i mean) but I like him because I think he is phenomenal character at the same time and very well written one too and besides of his lack of emotional intelligence and empathy, he has congitive empathy and makes best use out of it tbh, in general he knows how to play the game and he knows how to make the most potential of things which I highly admire about him
I think a lot of people get attracted to people they "can't" have or those who lack empathy like Fyodor (eyeing you Cole with this one) because it's in our nature to see how much can we change a person since most people love challenges lol and to see how we can affect others in that sense which ends up being hurtful to us, I am not particulary attracted to "cold/lacking empathy" type of people tbh, I dislike games like that and I am not someone who should teach someone else how to be emotionally mature and functional unless they need genuine help and genuinely have issues with self expression, then obviously I would help, however people who are like Fyodor or Fyodor himself eh, I don't really find them attractive or find myself attracted to them but rather boring or I get bored in a sense because I like people who have energy, who have will, who are passionate and have that emotional capacity
I do find his intelligence admirable but you need to remember he is a fictional character and he is not real, he is written by Asagiri so if someone's intelligence is to be admired it's Asagiri's intelligence, Fyodor will always be "perfect" because he is not real, he is a laid out story made by someone else who has free will to bend him over in any way they may want to due to this being fictional work and fictional character so it's kind of pointless comparing yourself to someone who is written to be almost flawless and who is made to be in a set up that makes his skills exceed, that's only going to make you feel worse about yourself and it's ultimately pointless comparisson to make in general, same goes for Ranpo, Poe, Dazai, Louisa and others who also have admirable/beyond average intelligence, they are written to be like that and it's pointless to compare to that when they are not real and never will be, at least not as versions that BSD gives us due to the storyline also being highly unrealistic for our world lol, yk what i mean, you need to separate yourself from that because it's only going to cause you harm for no reason at all, you can't do what he does because you live in real world with real issues and real unpredictable causes/problems, meanwhile he lives in fictional world where he doesn't even have to drink water or eat for months and he would survive lol, any comparisson is pointless in general yk what i mean
and I mean, Fyodor being arrogant, I don't approve of arrogance in general, but he has a lot of stuff to back it up with, so :3 I can't blame him either
ah....then i will shush....no fyodor soft spots here, nuh uh :3

More aph Mongolia headcanons:
Nowadays he is pretty chill/nonchalant but can come off as a bit aloof to a lot of people.
Resting bitch face 😍 Nah but he isn't really one to smile often. He probably gives other nations the classic "awkward smile you give to your coworker" smile sometimes when walking past them but you really need to say/do something hilarious to get a smile out of him.
Whether he is more smiley or not depends on what nations he's interacting with though.
Despite seeming aloof to people he is genuinely quite warm and down to earth once you actually start talking to him. It's just that in large groups he's more of an observer during group conversations and only really speaks up when he feels like he needs to.
This might give people the impression that he's shy but really he's just taking all the information in.
He's pretty politically savvy and is good at managing his foreign relations well for the most part! (for example, the landlocked between Russia and China situation and Mongolia's special relationship with North Korea).
Actually takes pride in his long and healthy hair a lot but doesn't really bring it up, he waits for others to mention it before he starts talking about it and how he maintains it haha.
He can be quite charismatic when needed in certain situations (trust me he knows how far charisma can get someone)
Can act like a bit of a boomer (I consider him an ancient but he's kind of one of the babies in the ancient nation grouping) sometimes towards things like texting, for example he probably complains when people use shortforms of words because he doesn't fully know all the shortforms.
In addition I headcanon him to be a tiny bit of a boomer about religion. He's definitely not as religious as say, Tibet, but he probs is a tad disappointed about the younger generations turning away from Buddhism (one of my friends who's from Mongolia told me apparently halloween was banned in some schools because it was distracting kids from Buddhism or something??).
However he is all for religious freedom sooo if they don't wanna do that they shouldn't feel obligated to.
Despite what I've just said about his boomer shenanigans, I don't think Mongolia is totally adverse to/hates technology! He's not as technology crazy as China but come on its not like he doesn't know how to use a phone or computer lol. Plus many Mongolian nomads have adapted new technologies to their way of life anyways (like the use of solar panels and TVs, plus so many nomads are on tiktok?!)
So I like to think he is interested in new technologies actually but isn't really an enthusiast like other nations. He definitely likes/finds comfort in the traditional way of life but also isn't stuck in the past. Though he does ask for South Korea's help with some things sometimes hahah.
Probably sends good morning texts like this to nations he likes:
Tumblr media
No he does not translate it for them
I don't headcanon him as super mega depressed about his current situation and to an extent he is grateful that he's still even around. But I think it's unrealistic to say that there are things which won't get him down y'know? A lot has happened since the 13th century and not of all it has been good.
So while he does have bad memories and there are the obvious struggles of being a nation, I think he has a lot of resilience. Some people think that resilience means that you aren't bothered by hard times at all, but to me it means despite the hard times affecting/hurting you, you keep pushing forward.
Umm he loves watermelon. I've heard Mongolians really like watermelon??
Best throat singer on this planet I will die on this hill
Gives performances at naadam and wrestling events
Probably gets into regular arguments with his government tbh
This sounds weird but I think he actually kind of enjoys bickering with China sometimes (and vice versa). He'd be like "well I'm bored, I'm gonna go and pick a fight with China now."
Russia + Mongolia = alcoholic pair 😍
Nah but on a more serious note, he's not scared of Russia but he just finds interacting with him awkward sometimes. Plus he catches himself doing things like using a cloth to wipe crumbs off of Russia's face, and only then realises afterwards that what he did was odd LMAO.
Is close to South Korea and they talk on the phone often, most of the time it's just him listening as South Korea babbles on about his day but he quite enjoys it.
Close to North Korea too and defends him whenever someone says something bad about him in a conversation. Really cares about him.
He and Japan are buddies!! Okay the invasions of Japan were embarrassing and there was also Khalkin Gol (World War 2) but honestly they have the same kind of interests? Wrestling for example. There are many Mongolians who go into sumo actually and two of the best sumo wrestlers/yokozunas (Asashoryu and Hakuho) are from Mongolia! So they probably watch sumo matches with each other.
Also Mongolian dominance in sumo is just funny as hell BYE
Mongolia + China = divorced as fuck 😍💅 and China took the kids
Most divorced mfs in Asia
Russia and China enjoy annoying him sometimes by taking his glasses off of his face or randomly grabbing his braid.
If he's not Tibet's husband then they're at least extremely close with one another. Bro the title "Dalai Lama" exists because of Mongolia😔✌️ they're each others confidants and tell each other their deepest darkest secrets 😍
He and India are pretty close too!! They have a long history with each other and have backed each other up in more modern history!
I think he and Vietnam actually get along tbh. I've said in my ship post that I ship him with her and yeah they both admire and recognise each others resilience plus Mongolia respects her for beating his ass 😍 plus I saw a really interesting picture of Mongolians protesting the war in Vietnam!
Tumblr media
Some translations: "Americans, take your claws away from Vietnam!"
"People of Vietnam always win!" (hahah)
"American imperialists stop bombing Vietnam!"
Also apparently quite a few Mongolians studied in Vietnam back then and vice versa (socialist era). Sorry they're just so powerful together!
Isn't as close with the central Asian nations as he feels like he should be? Though officially he is classified as an East Asian country, Mongolian culture is very different compared to those in the Sinosphere and is more similar to the central Asians, especially Kazakhstan. There's just not enough trade and politics going on between them for him to interact with them much but he does like them.
However I do think he is friends with Kazakhstan. In Western Mongolia, there is the Bayan-Olgii province, and this is where many Kazakhs fleed to, to escape the Russians! Since then, Kazakhs who live in far west Mongolia have maintained their traditional/original Kazakh lifestyle while Kazakhstan itself became quite Russified. I think Kazakhstan likes to visit there every so often to see how they're doing and Mongolia accompanies him.
He's really good friends with Turkey but REFUSES to wrestle with him (he has seen those Turkish oil wrestling videos and is terrified)
There's literally a joint Mongolian-Turkish school in Mongolia called "MonTurk" (full version "Mongolian-Turkish highschool") omg their ship name 😍
I think he probably tells Turkey to tell Turks to stop spamming any video to do with Mongolian culture with Turkish flags tho (in a jokey way of course)
The meme that influenced this headcanon:
Tumblr media
Plus I've seen it a lot anyways lol
I think, when he gets the opportunity to, he likes to visit the Dakha people. These are the reindeer herders of Mongolia and they have such a fascinating lifestyle!
When things are really bad with his government he probably just. Rides out into the steppe and stays with random families until he's mentally ready to return
About his bodytype. For one yes I headcanon him as tol and I will die on this hill😔 but also I don't think he'd be skinny? I don't think he'd be fat/overly chubby either (using those terms in a descriptive sense, not a derogatory one). I do think he'd have more bodyfat on him compared to the other East Asians but he also has muscle/muscle definition which balances it out nicely if that makes sense. He's not like, ripped hahah no but he does look physically strong.
I've said this before but face scars>> hot and yes he has a nice tan
He does have red cheeks but they're less apparent now that he's not a nomad 24/7 anymore, they become more apparent when he comes back from trips he goes on during his breaks when he goes out into the countryside.
Probs invites some nations over to celebrate tsagaan tsar (Mongolian New year) with him if they have the time like Tibet, India, South Korea etc.
South Korea probably tries to lecture him sometimes if he says something that's not very politically correct hahah
Pretends he doesn't know what Kpop is to annoy South Korea. Secretly actually enjoys some songs.
Loves loves loves tea like I was watching a video about Mongolian milk tea and the dude said that like, there's a Mongolian quote about how a man can go a few days without food but not one day without tea?? Hahah
Probably finds attending the Chinese New year parties that China hosts a bit awkward and usually just let's others do the talking/listens to others conversations.
Umm feeds stray cats/dogs in Ulaanbaatars ger district (apparently there's more strays in this area) he just can't help himself 😔❤️

i will not put noli me tangere and el filibusterismo in perpetua, i will not put noli me tangere and el filibusterismo in perpetua, i will not put noli me tangere and el filibusterismo in perpetua, i will not-
rambling under the cut because i need to figure out something to finish this scene:
the reason why i bring it up at all is because i want to show what a mundane conversation between damien and avery is like when there's not really much else happening in their lives.
much of their conversations in arc 1 were mundane yes but it was like 'getting to know each other (and also letting damien heal a bit after going through the horrors)'. also i will probably need another pass at arc 1 act 2 because i think things are a little messy thematically and i start juggling quite a lot.
-> anyways i wanted that mundane friendship conversation to be about a piece of media. i think literary analysis is something the two of them would talk about (because that's exactly the type of nerds they are, and you've gotta write what you know, yknow?)
there is a precedent for including real books and pieces of media in perpetua. i did it early in arc 1 with mary shelley's frankenstein, to establish perpetua as an educated community, suggest at minerva's sense of humour, and introduce ideas like the rage towards one's creator (with a parent-child / mad science twist).
> haunted hollow (the owl house, but i can't just name drop that one because it's too recent) was mostly used to establish the kind of nerd that avery is, give damien an in-universe blorbo in the form of a zuko/hunter-alike.
>> i might go back to this in arc 3 when the gods chew damien out for not living up to their expectations and compare him to his own blorbo.
> ponyo (which has no in-universe name as of now) was also used to bring in the general theme of "it doesn't matter what you are, i still love you" to the context of damien and avery's friendship. i just needed it to work for a scene and i think it does?
so i absolutely can use real books. the question is whether i should use noli me tangere / el filibusterismo specifically:
el noli came to mind because i'm pretty into it at the moment, and it's thematically rich enough for damien to passionately talk at length about just how hard it goes.
> i'm trying to do this to show that he hasn't just been thinking about haunted hollow for the past 8 months or so, lmao. not that its unrealistic for that to happen, i just think he wouldn't. he's more the type to have a broad knowledge of a lot of different things and then excitedly draw connections between them, rather than fixate on one thing for a long time if that makes sense.
> on a meta level i want to show infodumping and passion in a positive light (avery finds it cute, etc.) because some of my family members don't really appreciate it. i feel like a freak sometimes, i really do.
BUT ANYWAY. the implications of the books
both noli me tangere and el filibusterismo are very much rooted in their socio-historical context, that being the philippines during the late spanish colonial era, and the way it portrays society and the systems in power is unfortunately evergreen. sometimes it feels like hardly anything has changed 137 years later.
in relation to perpetua, the books show a world that the characters have never experienced, whether that be past or present. damien has filipino heritage but the disconnect is apparent (so ironically it loops back around into being a pinoy diaspora experience?). its something to consider when the gods judge him for not being 'good enough representation'.
i dont know how this is going to play out because captain luna is broadly similar to ibarra, in that they're idealistic, upper class illustrado filipinos who studied abroad and had childhood sweethearts named maria-[something], neither of whom they got with in the end. with bonus queer aspects of their stories because tbh it reads like there was Something between ibarra and elias. but anyway. i dont think luna would've read noli and i dont know how he'd feel about the parallels between him and ibarra. probably not very good!
maria-isabel was named after maria clara YES, but i read noli and fili recently so everything surrounding the luna/ibarra parallels are a coincidence.
> damien will likely pick up on these parallels and that opens up an entire can of worms!! worms that i don't know what to do with! but also its an interesting book and i want more people to read it because it fucks severely.
if you have any suggestions for works that damien can be interested in (thematic relevance to greater story ideal) i would love to hear them

Hi. How will be Mike storyline in s5 with both Will and El?
hi! honestly I have nooooo idea lol just with everything going on in the show and how it’ll all fit together. I think when you focus on one aspect of the show a lot like mike el and wills love triangle you forget that most of the time won’t be spent dealing with that since it’s only one part out of a ton of different characters PLUS the actual plot and figuring all the upside down and vecna/creel lore and everything.
To start out though I don’t think they have drawn out mileven let alone byler this long just for them to hash everything out in the first couple episodes. if I remember correctly they said the season will be picking back up right where it left off (and there’s a million theories about that already which makes it even harder to tell) but since mike and el seem to be ignoring each other neither seem too eager to figure it out I don’t think we’re gonna get much that soon into it. el is stonewalling but mike isn’t putting in effort to bring it up, is keeping a bit of a distance and seems pretty calm about it actually when will asks him about it. to me he seems a bit relieved tbh.
I think after the season starts and weve been situated and like reminded of what’s happening (unless someone’s being vecnad on the hill right off the bat), dialogues between characters will start and mike might 1. confront el or 2. pull a s3 mike in the hospital with the m&m’s and try to have a casual conversation to see where they’re at. el will probably ignore him if it’s the ladder because she’s over it or they’ll have a conversation/fight and break up. this is unrealistic for their characters though who just can’t seem to get everything out in the open and be real with each other, but it is the last season so they might have to. whatever it is it won’t just be a healthy happy break up where they become besties after, el is genuinely upset and it can’t just be solved by them finally breaking it off, she needs an explanation and idk if mike is ready to give one just yet. I do think he has ‘chosen’ will though after he’s been sticking by his side the last episode despite him and el’s issues.
Honestly I don’t think el even considers them to be in a relationship still even though she hasn’t communicated that, so although they haven’t officially broken up I do think they’re undetermined enough for a possible cheating… especially if mike and will are in the UD alone together which I do see as a very likely possibility.
Yeah mileven has lasted too long for them to just break up quick and easy and early, if they do officially break up at any point then it’ll be messy and I don’t think the ga is ready to know everything, a lot of it has to be shown throughout the season through subtext rather than mike just explaining his own behavior over the course of their relationship as if he’s even aware of it all.
What’s more likely to me is them having an implied break up like the “fight you can’t come back from” and the ‘from el’ letter but bigger and more in your face so it’s clear, and in the first couple episodes. then they’ll probably be separated most of the season again and mike and will spend time alone and the audience will begin to catch on and connect some dots as their relationship develops even more. mike and will will kiss and or confess their feelings and then people will regroup and they’ll join the others knowing they both love each other. this might give mike the confidence to have a real talk with el but he won’t need to outright say much because the audience will have put it together already. I can also see them having a wendy and robbie (from gravity falls) moment at the end of the season where they smile at each other cuz they still care about each other and don’t need to completely understand if that makes sense? but probably not cuz that would feel a bit incomplete and milevens would use it to try and prove they’re still together lmfao.
A lot will need to be brought up as well, I think el might accuse him of lying (during the SBP monologue) again and maybe blame him for what happened to max and hawkins without saying exactly that, and that will make mike feel like shit. but then after they have an unresolved fight and an implied break up he will vent about it to will in the UD and will will make him feel better by talking about him like he does (but he still thinks he doesn’t have a chance) which would make mike realize how will always makes him feel better about himself unlike everyone else and they might have a moment but will shuts it down which might lead to them talking stuff out.
I also am on the fence about the whole painting thing, because even though will lied to mike about it and the painting represents something more meaningful I don’t think it’ll be brought up the way people think. because I really can’t see mike thanking el for it at any point especially with how they are right now. I think el could’ve spied on mike and will in the van and be the one to break it to him, or mike already knows that will lied. either way I also can’t see mike being particularly upset at will for this or angrily bringing it up like some people say, obviously lying is a big deal to them and will has never done that to mike, but I just can’t see him being angry about it. I feel like mike is going to go full s2 mike mode with will and just be totally inseparable so it’s more likely to be a bit like jonathan and nancy’s argument in the woods in s1 at first until things start spilling out holes in wills story.
Im now remembering lettergate and flickergate and vecna outing mike and everything and getting overwhelmed by the possibilities lmao so sorry if this was totally incoherent or I misunderstood what you asked but yeah this is just my stream of consciousness on this topic Im sure I left out a tonnn of stuff that I think about it but whatever
thanks for the ask!!!

okay here’s my dwd review, buckle up 🫡
Tumblr media
beginning to middle was pretty slow, middle to end was good!
the fluffy scenes between Alice and Jack were done really well, the chemistry between Harry and Flo felt so natural
HARRY LOOKED SO HANDSOME 😩 ON HIS PRETTY BOY SHIT FR!! The camera loves him, it makes me sick
Chris Pine played an excellent villain, he really embodies that egotistical manipulative psycho role perfectly
I felt like the plotline of Alice starting to realize something was wrong happened way too abruptly and inorganically. Like she just randomly started having flashbacks and doubts for no reason. I know Margaret kinda played a part in it, but Alice’s initial doubts didn’t really have much to do with her. I know the song was also a part of it, but its implied that she’s been harmlessly thinking about the tune for a while, and the idea that it just spontaneously triggers her despite the fact that she had it in her head for a long time is kinda unrealistic to me 🤷‍♀️ When things happen in a series of events/a domino effect, it really builds an exciting plot, and that’s what was missing from the beginning. I remember that in the original script, Alice finds a key while she’s doing Jack’s laundry, and her curiosity about its purpose is was leads her to find the portal and causes everything to unfold. Personally, I feel like they should have kept that, or at least kept the theme of it and have something like that set everything off.
Speaking of the tune, Harry did a really good job with it!! It was the perfect amount of creepy and it fit the entire film to a T
The entire dancing scene just seemed very unnecessary to me tbh! I heard a take about how it’s supposed to be a metaphor for how Frank puppeteers Jack and the entire community bc he’s literally seen as a god by them, which makes sense ofc, but the only reason I understand that analogy is because it was brought to my attention. Someone who is watching the movie and trying to draw their own conclusions from it probably wouldn’t have realized that’s what it was about (I’m using my sister as an example: she went with me and had absolutely no clue what the dancing was about and thought it was stupid 💀)
The whole thing with the plane crash was so ??? it’s one of those things that just felt like it was scribbled into the plot for the sake of haphazardly connecting some dots
The tension/face-off between Alice and Frank was 🤌 I loved the way he challenged her and she took it in stride and put up a good fight on her end. And Gemma’s entire ruthless monologue was done so well on her part
Flo’s acting is insane!! Like her talent never fails to leave me speechless, the way she’s so good with microexpressions and acting with her eyes…I adore her. The character shift she underwent when she had her epiphany and finally remembered her real life?? How she went from a proper housewife to cursing and yelling and fighting back?? 🫡
The whole scene after the dinner where Alice and Jack are discussing running away and then she gets taken by the Victory people was done really well!! Again, Flo’s acting in the car scene was so raw and realistic, 10/10. And Harry’s acting in this scene also really impressed me, I feel like he kept up with Flo nicely, which I honestly didn’t expect at all LMAO 💀 he did well with his expressions, his body language, and his dialogue, and I was like wow okay he has good potential
As for his acting across the entire film, I think he did good! He was going up against some legendary, experienced people (Flo, Chris, Gemma), so I expected it to be a very starch contrast in terms of talent to the point where he’d likely get overshadowed/stick out, but he managed to hold his own!! I remember when the Eternals scene came out, I was one of the people who felt that it looked very fake; he didn’t seem like an actual character, he just seemed like Harry in a superhero suit reciting some lines 💀 but in this movie, I think he actually embodied his role, and it felt like he was the character, and that he was playing who he was meant to play. Which is great, cause I was terrified that he’d flop and embarrass us 😭 a summary: he did good, still needs some work (which is expected), but he did his job and it was a nice acting debut on his part
I was left wanting some more depth to the characters. I wanted to know more about Jack’s background/identity in their real life, about Frank and what led him to create Victory, and how Jack discovered Victory and what he had to do in order to put Alice in it. She was a surgeon in a hospital and had tons of people depending on her, so how did he just manage to basically rip her from her career and her life without anyone coming to look for her?? What about her family, who would definitely try to come find her if they hadn’t heard from her in a while?? And his family?? Stuff like that. And also, I wanted to know much more about Jack and Alice’s marriage before the simulation (how they met, how their relationship developed, when they got married, how and when things started going wrong after he lost his job, why he was such a useless bum 💀 etc etc etc).
Ending was good, you could see Jack had some major screws lose by that point and Harry portrayed that well!! The chase scene was cool, but when she stopped and literally just stood there thinking about him I was like girl that man is DEAD!!!! GO GO GO!!!! and then she woke up and it’s implied she survives and gets to go back to her life 🫡 good for her
This movie being marketed as an ode to female pleasure completely missed the mark. The only “pleasurable” thing was the surface-level sex, which honestly felt unnecessary to me, if I’m being honest. The scenes just felt thrown in there, which makes me believe that the only reason they exist in the first place is merely to use them as a way to draw people in since it’s Harry having sex 🤷‍♀️ one would have been more than enough, and it’s the only one that made any type of sense to me: the one where Frank is watching them. Gross and fucked up, I KNOW, but it’s the one that actually aligns with themes in the film. Again, Frank is seen as this overlord figure in the community, and him looming over that entire exchange when Jack and Alice thought they had privacy kinda reminds me of that saying that goes, “God sees all.”, which is later supported further by how Frank informs Alice that he knows about her attempt to get Bunny on her side, implying that he’s “always watching.” That was my take on it, anyways, so I can see how that one was useful to the plot. The other scene was just there SJDNSNDNSN
That’s all I have to say, I think!! All in all, I give it a 7/10. I was entertained, but I was left wanting more from it, especially with how long it took for this movie to finally come out

So my fiance and I had recently finished watching Star Trek: Voyager (after completing watching TNG, DS9, Enterprise, and TOS, in that order) and we decided to give Star Trek: Discovery a try.
Two episodes in, we both agree that, so far, it’s trash, and we don’t want to watch any further. I don’t think it even really qualifies as Star Trek.
Am I being unfair or wrongly jumping to conclusions? Here’s what I dislike about it:
The writing of the dialogue feels unnatural, with the exception of the character Saru who I liked. The dialogue between Captain Georgiou and Michael Burnham feels particularly unnatural. The show also seems to omit a lot of “normal” dialogue, only showing isolated bits of dialogue focused around action/plot scenes, which seems really acharacteristic of Star Trek and also makes it hard for me to get to know the characters as normal people.
There are very few regular characters introduced. Whereas nearly all prior Star Treks introduce most of the main crew in the first episode, at least in passing, Discovery goes two episodes in and really focuses only on a small handful of characters (Burnham, Georgiou, Sarek, Saru, T'Kuvma, Vok) and kills off two of those characters in the second episode. I’m not against characters dying in the opening episode: DS9 shows Jennifer Sisko’s death and how it affects Commander Cisko, and Voyager’s opening episode features the death of many characters, but it didn’t pour energy into developing them only to kill them off.
The cinematography is low-quality and trite, which seems absolutely inexcusable given the modern tools available nowadays, I would expect it to be better, not worse, than prior shows. It is WAAAY too dark, even to the point of being completely unrealistic (why is a Federation court of law so dark at the end of episode 2? why is the ship’s bridge so dark? It’s darker even than Ops on DS9 and that was designed by Cardassians, which live in a lower-light environment. It doesn’t make sense) and to the point of making the episode hard to watch because I can’t see what is going on, even turning the brightness up fully on my monitor. Overall the cinematography looks like that of a bad action movie, or at best, some of the worst episodes of Enterprise’s season 3, not like most Star Trek.
There is too much angst and graphic violence and the overall vibe is too negative, and negative issues are not resolved. Both of us said we felt bad, emotionally, after watching each episode. This is very different from the sort of thought-provoking-but comforting effect that nearly all other Star Treks have. Other Star Treks did not shy away from tough subjects: war, genocide, torture even, but they framed it within a bright, optimistic view of the future in which there were mentally-healthy, mature characters who set a good example even when placed in tough situations. That’s the whole point of Star Trek.
So for people who have watched more of this, is my analysis spot-on? Does it get better after these episodes or does it stay this way? Is it really trash the way we think it is?
TBH the vibe I got from watching the first two episodes is that I felt frustrated at all the money and resources and time put into creating something that seemed to be damaging the franchise by taking something negative and angsty like any bad Hollywood action movie, and calling it “Star Trek”. I found it offensive. But I don’t know if I’ve judged it too early.
I didn’t initially like Voyager when I started watching it, but I ended up watching the whole thing and loving it, especially when I rewatched some episodes. And TNG’s first two seasons were pretty rough, and it has a few abysmal episodes in those seasons, but I still consider it one of the best series of all times, in part because from season 3 onward, they figured it out.

Why do you dislike Luzy x Max? I do aswell lol.
Thanks for the question OP!
in short my reasons are:
- the distortion of Lucys characterisation
- Max misogynistic behavior (which can tbh said about most dha characters to be fair)
- the forced way their relationship starts
- Their lacking chemistry, for one due to Luzys obvious queerness (unintended by the writers but still undeniable), but imo even Charlotte and Max had better chemistry at some point
- general bad implementation of the romantic parallel Plot in S2, leading to unneccesary drama
Now I've got a LOT of thoughts about this, so here a further explanation:
- first of, I think Luzys characterisation got completly butchered for the story surrounding Max and Luzy. I know it has to do with the changes the dha adaption made from hha, but it makes zero sense to me that Luzy is suddenly so obsessed with finding love and then Kaya of all things. It doesn't seem true to her character in S1 at all. Also after the first few episodes she completley forgets about Linn which ist super weird, since she was pretty obsessed with her in S1
- Max is such a misogynistic piece of s*ht. Like don't get me wrong, I don't hate the character. His background ist pretty interesting and I like that they tried to include reaccurring characters that don't live in Haus Anubis in the age group of the cast. But to me, his weird comments about women give such a bad first Impression, I couldn't help but dislike him at first (And when I finally warmed up to him they decided to not only change the actors but also throw his characterisation over board lol) . Although I recognize, that his sexism isn't unrealistic for boys his age (and in general sadly) and might just be a reflection of sexist notions the writers have themselfes, I still hate that this wasn't adressed properly in the show .
The main reason for my dislike is however:
- To me it Just seems like Luzy tried to convince herself that she is in love with Max. This makes sense, as Luzy is convinced that she will find her true Love soon (and is in denial about her Attraction to Charlotte lol). Remember how disgusted Luzy was at the thought of Max being in love with her, after she dreams about him? Yeah that didn't make me think: wow they're made for each other. And how she couldn't imagine that Max didn't write the letters as a joke to make fun of her? Charlotte even admits herself that Luzy never gave Max a second thought before the letters.
The writers try to explain Luzys hesitance by impliying the the main reason she is turned off by the thought of her dating Max, is their age difference. While I think that is a legitimate reason, it feels like an excuse the writers use to delay their relationship for dramaticism, because the characters never show a care for way bigger age gaps (which is another can of worms that I won't open here)(see: Luzy herself is attracted to Benny, Herr Petkovic and Radus) and this reservation of Lucys is only talked about once or twice as far as I recall .
Also I feel like the circumstances under which Luzy confessed didn't really allow her to make her own choice. It was literally: tell Max you want to date him or he'll leave forever. Afterwards Luzy is shown to be ashamed of their relationship and even though I like the talk they have about it afterwards, I still think that isn't a sign of a healthy relationship. This furthers my belief that Luzy is just convincing herself that she is in love with Max, because he is the only boy that is showing sincere interest in her, disregarding that all of her emotianlly intimate relationship have been with girls in the past. This is typical behavior in a heteronormative society and reflects not only the fictional world dha plays in, but also the real world of the writers which the show is a product of.
Especially at the beginning of their relationship it seems like Max feels more for Luzy, than she does for him. The scene in the Restaurant where Max draws and compliments her, Luzy is just flattered but doesn't compliment Max in any way.
I think that Luzy is in love with the Idea of being in a relationship, instead of being in love with Max.
- Overall the relationship suffers from dhas need too always include a romantic plotline aditionally to the mystery. (Which can also be said about the other canon couples, but imo especially applies to Luzy x Max)
It's like the writers tried to delay them getting together so much, that it just ended up seeming like they weren't a good match for each other. Instead the show could have used more time to flesh out Charlottes and Kayas relationship instead of omitting how exactly their kiss at the season finale came to be. (Or just let Luzy and Charlotte get together but I know that would never happen 😭)
- now the chemistry. It's tbh not the worst, as I think Ninas and Daniels actors fail even more so at conveying that, but other characters' chemistry is just a lot better. Max and Charlotte talk way more with each other than Luzy and Max do and with their development from a relationship purely for their respective own advantage, to a friendship where they genuinely want the other to suceed and be happy, felt more natural than anything that has happened between Max and Luzy. Max & Charlotte and especially Charlotte & Luzy have more scenes of emotional vulnerabilty with each other, which I believe ist a big reason why they seem to have more chemistry.
(I also think that is where Magnus x Mara suceeds and other canon couples fail: regularly talking about their feelings, not just the feelings concerning their relationship. Many relationships that aren't canon like Luzy x Charlotte or Nina x Deliah show the characters comforting each other, telling each other secrets, casual physical touch and generally being open and understanding with each other, which the real couples just don't do to the same extent)
Also maybe that's just me, but many scenes between Luzy and Max seem kinda akward to me? Like they just don't know how to act around each other.
- also COMMUNICATION! It went well in the end, but it seems like a stupid thing to do, not to tell your girlfriend, that your father is the goddamn headmaster?? (Although I love the scenes with Luzy and Altrichter) This ist exactly the stuff you should tell your Partner.
Now some general things that irk me about the whole romance Plot in S2 which play a big part in why I dislike LuzyxMax:
- although the same can be said about Kaya, Max and Charlotte, I think it's especially weird that Luzy isn't involved in Sibuna at all in Season 2 once the romance side story starts, even tho she played an important part before. It seems unrealistic, that she isn't interested in what is happening around Sibuna all of a sudden (she does again in S3 but that's way later). Also, generally I think that from a storytelling perspective, it is a waste of characters to just involve them in a Love Plot and don't give them any other defining character moments.
- I dislike, that the love plot ist completley Independent from the main storyline. That simply seems like bad writing to me and a cheap way of avoiding to think about, how all characters can be incorporated into the story. To me, the whole love side plot in S2 seems really forced and they made it so unecessarily dramatic (thats a general dha issue tho). I especially hated how the finale was split between the pretty dark and suspenseful story around the grail and the Amusement Park scenes (even thought all of them are Comedy gold). The Amusement Park seems like a desperate attempt to somehow tie up all the storylines that were brought up during the season and therefore seems kind of rushed. I think this robbed the finale with Raven of a lot of suspense.
You get the gist 😅.
I don't think Max x Luzy is horrendous. Imo they have some cute moments, but their relationship feels forced and isn't made to last. I would prefer both characters in different relationships or single. However, a big reason for that is not inherent to this couple specifically, but to the concept and writing style of dha that depends heavily on relationship drama, which especially Luzy, Max, Charlotte and Kaya are victims of in S2.

Do you think there's a chance of Gaon topping Yohan? I'm just curious about your opinion.
Oh absolutely!!! Pretty sure I’ve read a few fics with it, too.
I’m not sure if you’re asking from a fanfic or more of a meta point of view, so I’ll just go with meta because anything can happen in fanfiction.
Realistically, to me personally, I think it would take a lot for yohan to bottom. I think he’s spent so long having his guard up (really, since the day he was born), and he trusts very few. Sex in general, for some, is a very intimate, vulnerable experience, and yohan opening himself up to someone in that way is… probably going to be a lot to handle in the beginning. It’s really easy to say that ‘sex is just sex’ and just a physical act and it’s not a big deal, but it’s not that way for some of us. Someone as emotionally repressed as yohan already has difficulty letting others see him, and I think that’s applicable for a lot of components of his life. Gaon wormed his way in, and I think yohan would eventually trust him in that way. That’s not to say Gaon is more open to these experiences - we don’t have a lot of his personal history aside from his parents, but we clearly see on screen the different ways in which yohan and gaon handle emotions. Gaon having a much more impulsive streak when he’s angry, but he’s so much more open when it comes to caring and loving people.
We could also play devil’s advocate and think yohan’s up for anything given he’s more logic-based and obsessed with human nature, but I really don’t see it that way. I think he hides behind a persona in public and his layers were slowly unveiled in the Kang house to reveal that while in many instances he follows the predictability of humans, there is enough room for surprises to upend some of his belief in it, too (aka gaon).
And if we really want to get into MY personal meta about it (it is so above but this is even deeper), I don’t see yohan as someone who is that sexual to begin with—as in, it is not a consistent desire. I think it takes the right person for him to want it, and I am of the belief that either he’s never been with anyone; he’s been celibate since the fire (because lets add some religious trauma in there as well) or he’s used sex, when needed, as a way to get info he needs to have the upper hand without any real emotional connection—it’s a means to an end.
But vary rarely do we have a character that isn’t associated with sex, or even comes across as devoid of it. I think it’s incredibly important to consider as a hc for yohan that aspect as not a huge part of his life—simply because it’s rampant in literally everything we consume (its casualty and hookup culture alienate so many people), and for once, it’s nice to have character representation and all they encompass focus on an individual without sex involved in some capacity.
It’s why I would really love to write about gaon being yohan’s first, although I highly doubt the idea appeals to anyone except me tbh. i know that others have very different takes than i do and seems highly unrealistic, so i think that's why ive put it off for so long.
But even with the hc of mine, that doesn’t stop me from coming up with smut hcs to enjoy. I think fanfiction is the perfect place to disregard backstory and delve right into the content you want. Instead of a story leading up to yohan trusting goan enough to bottom, you can literally start from the middle where they’ve been through that angst and now it’s the fun stuff. Or write it without even having that backstory involved.
I think there are so many ways to answer this question, but tl;dr, the answer, in whatever way you believe, is yes. Bc quit frankly, the idea of yohan being a pillow princess actually amuses me, and we all know how easy it is for gaon to render yohan speechless. Gaon absolutely gets him to shut the fuck up in bed, lmao.

oh fuck hi xaz i was wondering where you went. apparently the reason was a little uh.. well, jesus christ. tbh.
i'm a little nervous about showing my face which is why i'm on anon but ive been in afams and very active in discord since i wanna say the fall before the first skycats thing? and ive been pretty much absent since around when you left. (funnily enough i haven't come up in a single queue in that entire time, or in the year and a half ive been waiting for a project queue >_<)
anyway i wanna say i love and support u and i hope other than this bullshit you're doing well, and also i can definitely corroborate some of the stuff you posted that the afams team has been doing... uh. bad.
especially that part about the one mod having a bunch of complaints about them.. honestly it's at the point where i'm not even sure *which* fucking mod it is lmao. (put some extra info in a second ask)
and the way the two admins treated you, while i didn't see anything super obvious first hand, it always struck me as soooo fucking weird that you could make some of the same kinda jokes that they did, and jokes with "fuck" and "shit" and whatever in them, except you were getting publicly dressed down for it. (i will say there were a couple times you had some less savory jokes HOWEVER you corrected and apologized and didn't do it again. but most times it was regular shit everybody else was saying too, from what i remember)
oh and there was also a couple times where the admins asked for feedback on stuff and i'd try to mention some difficulty, and i'd get completely *publicly* shut down with some ableist nonsense, and nobody would say shit. i'm not comfortable saying exactly what was said, but it was... it was bad. it was bad. like i had to stop going to the discord for like a week when it happened. and myn said she'd talk to the people who did it and now i'm starting to think that just never happened....
I just wanna go on record saying I don't know who this person is but they sound like a an afam helper (not quite a mod bc up until kata we didn't have mods). The server has a few of those. So for the admin babies out there, I didn't tell this person to send this in or anything.
And yes you're absolutely right. The admins loved to ask for feeback or insight on stuff and if it wasn't 100% squeaky clean it'd be shut down. Reminds me of the time one of the admins (not the main ones actually) told me my ideas weren't good and unrealistic during a brain storming thread for an event that never happened last year and no one stepped in to tell her to stop until I stood up for myself and said 'just because they're unrealistic doesn't mean I can't talk about them'.
Some, but certainly not all, of the staff are weirdly ableist as well. I totally forgot about that. I'm a bit mentally disabled but I try and shrug that stuff off so I don't go crazy but I know others are a lot more sensative to that kinda stuff. And while like you said I might have slipped up myself sometimes I did try and correct it and make it right because I didn't realize I'd fucked up until my foot was in my mouth.
And completely agree. You'd go to the admins with an issue about a person and they said they'd deal with it but it... never felt like it did? I remember that was a big point of contention where I was BEGGING the admins to please just TELL US what is happening. Give us updates. Have you followed through with things you said you would? Has the person someone had a problem with been actually spoken to? But it felt like a lotta the time things were sent to the admins and then nothing happened and that's why I always wanted an actual open dialogue so people could SEE what issues there were and hold the admins accountable for those things. But that wasn't allowed bc it was confrontational.
Not all confrontation is negative. It is something that sometimes needs to happen between people so everyone feels heard and understood. But that isn't allowed.
And about your second ask; oh geeze anon I'm so sorry. That sounds horrible. I teared up a little and I'm glad you're away from that person. If you wanna talk more you can always DM me over discord.

Every single thought I have about the Doctor Who 60th specials… (Part 1/2)
Part 2
I feel like I’m losing my mind with all the opinions, questions and theories I have about what we’ve watched over the last three weeks so this is part 1 of a full semi-comprehensive list of pretty much all of it so I can get it out of my head and (mostly) move on
The Star Beast
The Intro
I quite like the intro scene cutting between 14 and Donna but 14 being green screened into space is so horrifically ugly and out of place especially when Donna is just sitting in her house. He should have also been sitting somewhere. Like literally just some generic place. I was thinking 13’s TARDIS would’ve been a good place but I don’t think that makes sense bc it kinda places him at a certain place in a certain time when the voice over was more supposed to be like a recap situation and not 14 actually sitting somewhere telling us that stuff because when he sees Donna he is shocked. So if it had been 13’s TARDIS it would have implied he was expecting to then leave the TARDIS and come across her yknow. Idk. Basically that greenscreen moment was just ugly and an embarrassing thing to start the era with tbh
Dialogue & Funny Moments
The dialogue in the first scene isn’t great. It feels kinda plain? Unrealistic? Childish? Clunky? It’s the kind of meh dialogue you’d find in Chibnall’s era that people love to complain about (which is fair, I don’t love that dialogue/vibe either) but somehow worse because I just didn’t expect that kind of vibe from RTD like in my mind writing realistic dialogue is kinda his Thing so idk what’s gone on with this scene. There are some other misc moments in the episode that are similar but I think that’s the worst one, which isn’t great considering it’s the first proper scene in the episode.
Despite that clunky first scene, there are so many scenes in this episode where I just LOVED the dialogue and there was so many funny moments especially in the first half of the episode - Donna realising why she gave the money away, the Meep in the shed screaming about the toys, every second from Donna discovering the Meep right til ‘tuna madras’, Sylvia calling 14 an idiot when he assumes Wilf is dead, exhibit C just die
Donna Being Nasty
Donna meeting a man and instantly calling him skinny is weird. It was also weird in Series 4 but Series 4 was 2008 so. It shouldn’t still be a thing that’s happening now tho especially as much as it did in that ep. And like, okay if we’re doing that then what you’re telling me is that Donna isn’t a very nice person I guess?? Which, tbf, does track with her character, she has always been mouthy and kinda mean
That’s something that RTD’s and Moffat’s eras have always had that imo Chibnall’s never really did, comedy at the expense of someone. Like the joke here is that Donna is making fun of the Doctor for being skinny, it’s meanness for comedy’s sake and it’s not even funny bc what’s funny about some random woman meeting a man and making fun of his appearance and then going on to do that multiple more times through the episode. It’s just weird
We then also have Donna basically gloating about giving someone nasty nicknames in school (which mind you was probably 30 or so years ago) and it felt very childish like idk
Also, I absolutely know that misc bullying isn’t the same as transphobia but I find it interesting that in one breath Donna is poking fun at the Doctor’s appearance and borderline fondly looking back at how she made up nasty nicknames for someone in school (tho going by their kids they seem like twats so maybe they deserved the nicknames) but then in her next breath she’s telling Rose about how it’s not right that people are making fun of her. Which like, she’s obviously right, but also Donna is like ‘making fun of people is bad but also I make fun of people too’ and idk if I’m even pointing this out in a bad way tbh, it’s just something I noticed. It’s kinda interesting. Like Donna is simultaneously just SO caring and protective and an amazing mum to Rose and she always tries to get the Doctor to open up and is a great friend to him but then she’s also quite mean? Duality of man I guess idfk
Gender, Transness & Rose
The psychic paper saying Grand Mistress is a great moment. I saw someone say it doesn't make sense for the psychic paper to be faulty like that but imo it could kinda be showing that 14 maybe isn’t in his new body completely yet like the paper shows what the person is thinking so I guess 14 hasn’t adjusted and is still somewhat thinking like he’s 13, which is really interesting imo. Though I feel like that maybe wasn’t an intentional thing, it was just meant to be a funny moment. Which it is tbf so. I do think that reading maybe makes the later comments in the episode about a male presenting Time Lord not understanding something worse than it already is tho..
I loved the scene with Donna and Sylvia talking about Rose like they’re both trying their best to support her even if they're not always fully sure what the right thing is
I know there was some talk about the dead naming scene and if it should have been done but I think it’s fine to include something like that. It’s important to show the real things trans people are going through. I can understand some people, trans people specifically, maybe finding the scene uncomfortable to watch though for sure.
RTD’s comment in the podcast episode for this episode about the dead naming scene isn’t my favourite thing in the world. He basically says there’s two reasons he put that scene in - to show what trans people go through and to have a way to tell the audience that Rose’s dead name means ‘doctor’. I just don’t think the second reason was necessary like, it IS interesting that Donna subconsciously named her kid after the Doctor but in the context of like ‘well we could have a character be harassed on the street as a way to show everyone this bit of lore’ it's like hm idk about that. Especially when Rose is also a name related to the Doctor anyways. And also the way he says it in the clip sounds like the transphobia part was an afterthought and getting the name out there so people could know Donna named her kid after the Doctor was a bigger reason for doing it. Which idk, maybe he just worded things weird and that isn’t actually how he thought about it but that’s definitely how it came across to me in the clip.
Rose’s ‘you’re assuming he as a pronoun’ comment is genuinely SO bad. There’s so many ways they could have done that moment and made it work and we ended up with the most clunky cringe and unnatural one of the lot. The way it was done I think genuinely made the hate Rose got from assholes worse. I mean, obviously anyone who dislikes Rose because she’s trans is going to dislike her regardless of this moment but it was SUCH an awkward scene that it’s like RTD basically spoon fed it to these people as something to complain about bc it made Rose seem so, idk, bratty? Or like a stereotypical progressive young person? I really don’t know how to explain it, it was just bad and you can tell and old man wrote it
And also, having her say that to THE DOCTOR, a Doctor who was a woman a few hours ago, and for him to be like ah yes, as if he hadn’t considered it was really not the right move imo. It obviously makes sense for Rose to be aware and want to ask something like that but I think the Doctor should have been the one to ask it himself rather than it being put on her. And if it did have to be put on her, it should have been done better and the Doctor should’ve had a less shocked(?) reaction, bc DUH he was a woman literally just now
Rose doesn’t have any character. She exists to help save Donna from the metacrisis and has no character outside of her transness. Like literally all I could tell you about her is that she makes toys and feels different because she’s trans. I’d also say I know that she’s nice and caring because she’s pretty quick to help the Meep out and defend them and she clearly sees herself in them kinda but then as soon as the Meep turns evil we don’t see any reaction from her and she becomes irrelevant except for when she pops up at the end to be used as a device to help Donna survive. It’s pretty poor. I’ve seen that RTD has said we’re going to see her again, presumably in 15’s era, so I’m just gonna hope he redeems himself then
Metacrisis Stuff & More Gender Stuff
14 being like ‘Donna could DIE’ to Shirley but then talking about his hearts and when Sylvia is annoyed he said it he acts like she’s overreacting and then he’s in the attic basically explaining what the sonic is like what the fuck are you doing? Do you want her to die? It’s like the episode forgets about the actual bad thing that could happen to Donna in favour of having some funny moments and it’s so strange.
The list of code words is like.. Okay? It’s kinda cringe, especially the binary binary binary stuff but whatever. And also the whole waffling to sound clever thing is sooooo RTD and is also pretty cringe and kinda crap idrk
I think I am cool with Rose existing passing down enough of the energy and letting Donna live, even though it is a bit like okay I feel like she’d have way too much energy in her for that to work but whatever
What I’m still not sure about is that passing down being what made Rose trans non-binary? Like firstly I don’t think that actually makes sense and secondly it’s kinda implying that being trans/non-binary is like, a thing caused by aliens or whatever else and not just.. A thing that some people are. Idk it is just feels very strange, not my fave at all
‘It’s a shame you’re not a woman anymore because she’d have understood’ and ‘something a male presenting Time Lord will never understand. Just let it go.’ is weird as hell to me like what? I’ve seen people say that it was obviously just them joking and like yeah okay maybe it was intended that way but it really didn’t come across to me and it also just wasn’t funny like.. Okay? Just think it’s a very odd moment in an episode where gender and being trans is pretty prevalent? And then on top of that the shit happening in that scene is SO silly. Like okay so we’re saying after all this Rose and Donna can just.. Let all the metacrisis stuff go and they’re fine? I love seeing the Doctor and Donna back again for a couple of eps but that explanation is an INSANE cop out and is honestly just lazy like RTD has regretted Donna’s ending for like a decade and that is what he came up with to fix it? Lol okay
Misc
Idk how I feel about the sonic being able to do all of that like it’s already been kinda an overpowered magic wand and now it’s building walls?? Maybe actually physically seeing it able to do something to help them is better than it magically locking and unlocking things actually but idk. Not a huuuge fan but whatever, idrc about the sonic that much
I didn’t really care much about Shirley on first watch but I quite like her now
14 being like ‘She’s got this beautiful daughter, she’s happy. Is she?’ was a bit odd considering he had no reason to question Donna’s happiness at that point
I wasn’t too happy about Sylvia slapping 14 when it was first shown however long ago but I don’t think I mind anymore like yeah okay, Sylvia is literally worried her daughter will die and the man who made it all happen and could kill her has shown up along with a little furry alien. I don’t want slapping the Doctor to be a thing that keeps happening tho. This and Jackie in S1 are probably the only times the doctor has deserved the slap they’ve got.
Kinda interested to find out who the Meep is referring to as ‘the boss’ idk, I feel like it’s not really worth theorising about though bc it could literally be anyone. The name could be a Time Lord title like the Boss, it could just be some random guy. I’m assuming we’ll find out in 15’s run (we better do actually bc if not what a waste of time)
I kinda loved the Wrath Warriors. I didn’t expect them to be that chatty, big fan
I was very unsure about the new TARDIS interior but I think I’ve decided I really like it actually
The ‘It killed me, it killed me, it killed me’ moment is so good
The coffee ending was kiiinda dumb as fuck but whatever idk. Donna’s shouty voice does go right through me though and 14 being like, ‘We could end up.. anywhere in time and space.’ was HORRIFIC like what shite cringe dialogue omg
The ‘I don't believe in destiny’ stuff is like well there is literally no destiny involved in this story so that moment (and the moments where he emphasised how Donna could die only for her to very easily end up living) was all just to hype ppl up and I kinda hate it like doing all that only for it to not play out anything like that makes things kinda underwhelming? Idk, I don’t think it would be as underwhelming if the way it was sold wasn’t as dramatic
Wild Blue Yonder
If I personally was casting someone to play a real person I’d probably try and get someone who looks like the real person but the fact RTD didn’t do that literally doesn’t matter at all like I couldn’t imagine being genuinely outraged by it, it’s such a non-issue. Especially when it’s literally just a two minute scene at the beginning of an episode purely put there for a joke about gravity like this is not some serious three hour biopic omg
I love the moment where 14 agrees with Donna about Newton being hot. I saw some people saying stuff about the Doctor finally being comfortable with their attraction to men or ‘finally we have a gay Doctor’ but I think that’s really not what the Doctor meant when he was like ‘is that who I am now’ and it’s imo kinda silly to read it that way. It obviously doesn't come up as much as their attraction to women but the Doctor has always had an attraction to men (flirting with Jack, offering to the kiss the guy in S3, whatever TenSimm had going on) and they’ve never been hesitant to show that attraction specifically, it’s attraction in general that they’ve typically not been the best at expressing freely. So that ‘is that who I am now’ comment feels to me like it’s in the same vein as the moments in The Star Beast where 14 says he loves Donna and Wilf and is kinda shocked that he so openly says that. The Doctor has just become more open and/or aware of their feelings (and I love it so much). It’s got nothing to do with them finally being attracted to men or whatever some people have been waffling about
I’m so obsessed with the Flux and Timeless Child Mentions. Like, that entire scene and then the bit after where 14 starts having a mini breakdown is SO good. This is the first time the Doctor has properly tried to be open with someone in a very long time and then the person he’s being open with ends up not even being that person???? It’s crazy and I’m obsessed with it. Also that tantrum was clowned on by everyone including me for so long so to actually see the scene and it be kinda the best thing ever is really funny.
Obviously a massive corridor like that is gonna need to be largely CGI but it was mildly distracting near the beginning of the ep idk. I know everyone is like ‘this is Doctor Who, it looks bad’ but um no I’d rather it look good actually. It’s kinda giving MCU in terms of it clearly being high budget but still not Quite looking as good as it could (not that DW is quite on that level of a budget lmao, more like well this is supposed to be an upgrade but Flux looked better than a lot of the CGI in these three specials)
I love that 13 was the way she was because she was like that for a reason but GOD I loved 14 tryna support Donna when she was freaking out. I love that the Doctor is growing from that time in their life, 15 even more so than 14
I really don’t have much else to say about this episode, I basically loved every other bit of it

Alright. I kinda feel like there's no interesting love interest in New Era. I just want to say, that it is my opinion and of course, everyone can think the way the want!
So, in The Origins I found every LI interesting. Leiftan (he was my favourite), because of his mysterious personality and this whole trailor-plot later on, his parents, his guardians (I'm not sure if this is how you write it in english, oops) and his motives. My second favourite, Valkyon, also was an amazing character! I loved his opening up to Erika, his family plot, finding out he's a dragon - it was awesome route to play. Next, we have Ezarel, and, my Lord, I can say without hesitation his route was the most fun to play with! His backstory, his honey obsession, his funny nicknames. This find about not like to being touched (which was never explained, thanks a lot, Beemoov) and finally - his jokes. His fantastic teasing and this back-and-forth with Erika. And, we have Nevra. I adored that guy. He was funny, charming and unforgattable. His route was super cool, a bit awkward at times, but in a good way! And his dialogues, it was so funny!
But now? Well. We have Leiftan, Lance, Mathieu and Nevra. And, hm. I'm going to sound really mean, so, yeah. They are not interesting at all, at least for me. Leiftan? He looks way less attractive (sorry, bae, but that's the true - Beemoov made you look terrible), but that's not the main issue. For me, he's still a bit interesting. I'm curious about his backstory (I hope Beemoov will give me that), his relationship with Lance, etc. But, at the same time, he's just, a different character? Maybe only I think so, but I feel like he totally lost his personality, and I understand that he's feeling really guilty about that he's done and he probably going through a lot inside, but, now, I feel like he's so empty? I dunno. Maybe, it's because in The Origins there was this whole trailor/deamon plot, but at the same time, I chose Leiftan to be my LI without knowing he's a traitor - I was interested in him, but now, for some odd reason, it disapeared. Maybe, it's because Beemoov totally forgot about this whole soulmate thing? (what I mean is: in spin off, he tells us how much he waited for "Erika" to come, how much he adored her, ect, ect, and it's just weird that the completely gave up on it) I dunno, he's just, different in New Era. Lance - alright, I totally hate him, but he's the most interesting route, I give you that. He still doesn't make me super intrested, but I am curious about him, his route and stuff (but I'm pretty sure Beemoov will ruin it by rushing things off), so yeah. Mathieu, oh, Lord. I mean, I don't mind him being a human (I know some people do, and that's okay, it's a fantasy game after all), but he's just, for me (remember, this whole post is my opinion!), so boring. Only thing that interests me it this "him being a traitor" headcanon (I re-blog it a few days ago), but it's just a speculation and it would've been a huge rip-off of The Origins, so I dunno. He's kinda boring to me, sorry. Maybe, later on in the story, he'll turn out to be interesting. The last one, Nevra - omg. I totally feel like he lost his charm. I adored Nevra in TO (I loved every single LI in The Origins, tbh) and now, I miss him. He's no longer this flirty, funny vampire. You could say that he "grew up" or "got mature", but that doesn't work for me, I really liked him back then. Really. And, how come he didn't pick up on this whole "movie thing" in episode 4? (When Erika tells him, that the scene was like from the movie), I mean he was the master in flirts and talking to girls, how couldn't he pick up on this? She literally, straight up said r-o-m-a-n-t-i-c. I dunno, maybe I have unrealistic ideas/expectations.
I miss "Ezarel's personality" (I miss Ezarel in general). I miss different body types, different personalities, different backstory. Now, what we have? Flirty, but stupid human, "mature" and a bit awkward vampire, quiet daemon that broke up with us for some reason and hm, hard-to-understand dragon. Nice.
Alright, I feel like this post is really chaotic, haha, sorry.

✨My (maybe) Unpopular Heroes of Olympus Opinions✨
(maybe part one??? idk)
-I don’t really ship any of the main canon ships in HoO. None of them had any chemistry and most of them are either pedophilic, forced and rushed, or toxic in some way
-Most of the characters that were shoved into relationships (Leo, Nico, and Hazel especially) really did not need a love interest to complete their character arcs and their relationships ended up boring and flat cause Riordan just wanted everyone to have a love interest and it never went deeper than the skin
-Piper took advantage over Jason’s amnesiac state and manipulated him. She really went ‘But what if he has a girlfriend he can’t remember 👉👈 it would be wrong to start a relationship with him while he still has amnesia 👉👈 and cause it was based off lies and fake memories 👉👈 lmao imma just jump all over him and make him fall for me while he’s still amnesiac 🤪’ as if that’s not taking advantage over someone’s mental state
-And then she blamed her relationship being forced on Aphrodite and Hera saying they ‘forced her into a relationship’ and ‘arranged their relationship’ even though Aphrodite never said anything about or did anything to them and Hera gave Piper fake memories of them being a couple but it was Piper’s conscious choice to act out on those memories she knew were fake and her relationship was in no way influenced by anyone (especially Hera and Aphrodite) other than herself
-Shelper and Solangelo were way too rushed and forced (inside and outside of the books) and were only added for publicity, plus it seems like most of the fandom only like them cause they’re LGBTQ+ ships
-I hate Pipeyna and Pipabeth. My girls (especially Reyna) deserve better than some manipulative little girl who went ‘we were friends? no weren’t ❤️’
-The fandom portrays the characters really inaccurately (tweaking them a bit for humor is fine, but changing their entire personality is a different thing)
-The movies actually aren’t that bad when not compared to the books (I mean, you gotta admit- it’s pretty good effects for 2010)
-And speaking of the movies, they did a better job at portraying Thalia and Annabeth’s relationship in one movie than Riordan did in 5+ books
-Speaking of which, Riordan wrote pretty much every platonic friendship that weren’t Thalia/Nico and Reyna horribly and most of them shouldn’t have been friends and wasted all the potential for the good friendships
-Calypso should’ve joined the Hunters, not Reyna
-Annabeth and Piper are horrible friends lmao (separately and together)
-Silena is a hero and deserves redemption, but Luke doesn’t despite most of the fandom agreeing he does (he was a pedophile y’all)
-The fandom over-exaggerated the Tartarus fall, it wasn’t really that bad tbh
-Reyna is stronger and a better leader than Annabeth
-Annabeth’s intelligence is more tell than show (and quite a few characters including Leo, Reyna, and Octavian have shown more intelligence than her)
-Riordan over-glorifies and overpowers Percy way too much. Just cause he’s the main character doesn’t mean he has to be the best of the best after barely 8 months of training (four years at CHB only in the summers is 8 months total)
-Speaking of which, Jason can beat Percy (8 months versus Jason’s twelve years) and so can Annabeth, Reyna, Thalia, Hylla, Luke, Hazel and maybe Frank and Nico. Percy’s skill is overrated and unrealistic
-And I feel like most of the fandom knows that Jason can beat Percy but just doesn’t want to admit it cause they like Percy more
-Same thing with the Greeks and Romans- the majority know the Romans are stronger and can easily beat the Greeks but they don’t want to believe it cause they favor the Greeks more
-Percy and Annabeth shouldn’t have been part of the Seven, they already had their chance to shine. Riordan should’ve brought minor characters into light instead
-And Piper shouldn’t have been part of the Seven either. Riordan really expects me to believe that she’s stronger, more powerful, and a greater/better hero and deserved to be part of the Seven more than Reyna, Nico, Clarisse, Thalia, etc.?
-Riordan’s women line-up of Reyna, Annabeth, Hazel, and Piper was really cheap and boring (Avengers: Endgame women line-up who?)
-Percy (in HoO) and Piper are easily some of the worst, most underdeveloped characters Riordan has ever written
-Annabeth got really bland and weak in HoO and couldn’t do shit for herself without others (especially newbies) having to help and/or save her. She pretty much became exclusively Percy fangirl
-As much as I like them, Frank and Hazel don’t have what it takes to be Praetors and Reyna and Jason should’ve stayed as them
-Jason’s whole ‘am I more Greek or Roman’ arc was dumb af
-Riordan’s bias towards the Romans is also dumb af (the Romans could beat the Greeks in an instant)
-Jeyna is and always will be 1000x better than Jiper
-Hazel is the most powerful demigod (way more than Percy and even Jason)
-My hot take on who should’ve been the Seven: Reyna, Nico, Thalia, Frank, Hazel, Leo, and Clovis (son of the god of sleep puts Gaea back to sleep who?)
-Riordan confirming Piper bi was a cheap move to make her more likable. It didn’t even make any sense. A character is confirmed LGBT only after they become a minor character despite being a main character before and kisses some random unnamed girl only three months after her ex-boyfriend whom she still loved dies??? girl what??? Kinda obvious it was just for publicity. Like- Riordan, honey, the LGBTQ+ community is not a circus you can plop your characters into to make them more entertaining❤️
-The PJ series as a whole isn’t that creative. It’s legit just a copy of exactly what past mythological figures have already done and a bunch of character tropes and clichés shoved into one book
-And in general it’s not even that well-written (like HP, it’s over-exaggerated a lot)
-All of the romantic relationships and platonic friendships are extremely unrealistic. Like they never argue/fight, disagree, etc. (then grow stronger from those fights) at all??? Even if they’re complete opposites???
-Reyna is the best-written character in the whole series and a queen she deserved better and y’all sit on her too much
-Theyna is ✨amazing✨ their dynamic and chemistry was just *mwah Pansexual Muslim blessings to you* and people are allowed to ship them even though they’re Hunters and swore off love
-Rachel doesn’t deserve all the hate she gets. Y’all hate on her cause she crushed on Percy when half of you are doing the same thing and then y’all go and ship Percy with Nico, Jason, Artemis, Athena, etc.
-If y’all want to hate on Jason for ‘not having a personality’ you’d also have to hate on most of the main HoO characters except Reyna, Nico, and Leo (and maybe Hazel) for the same reason cause they have the exact same problem tbh
-Zoë and Bianca’s deaths weren’t actually that sad. We didn’t get to see them enough nor did they have enough development for their deaths to have a real impact. The only sad thing about them was Zoë’s last words and Nico’s reaction
-Thalia needed more time in the books
-Reyna was the only main female character in HoO that wasn’t a boring, bland Mary Sue that all the other characters automatically loved. She was the only one with real flaws and distinct personality traits she’s my queen
-Piper, Annabeth, and Calypso did have flaws but the fact that they weren’t called out by other characters or even noticed are what makes them Mary Sues. It doesn’t matter how many flaws a character has, if they’re not called out by other characters (more specifically, other protagonists who actually like them) they don’t count as real character flaws
-Riordan can’t write female characters for shit
-Clarisse, Drew, and Octavian deserved better than being completely antagonized for no explained reason other than to make the protagonists seem better and to make the readers root for them. Those three had more potential than most of the Seven combined
-The whole ‘Aphrodite kids don’t train’ thing is bs. It’s specifically stated that all the demigods follow a strict schedule and have to follow it or they’ll be on stable duty or smth and the Aphrodite kids shouldn’t (and can’t) be excused from that
-Therefore, Drew should be way more powerful and skilled than Piper, at least enough to not back down automatically from a duel by a newbie who hasn’t even learned how to fight (Drew can control an entire cabin of people at once and Piper can barely control one person at a time, who’s more powerful again??)
-Also I have no idea why Riordan portrays all the Aphrodite kids as weak and girly in the first place. ‘Femininity’ and ‘weakness’ are not synonymous and ‘love’ and ‘beauty’ don’t equal ‘feminine’
-Speaking of which, love is actually really powerful but Piper doesn’t stand for love or ‘inner beauty’ and all her ‘thoughtful/insightful’ quotes in ToA/TBM about love were complete bs
-Riordan using the LGBTQ+ community for the sole purpose of making Piper seem more likable and ‘special’ was disgusting and proves he thinks that straight is the default- “...Or Hera’s ideas of what a perfect couple looked like. Piper finding her own way, not the one people expected of her” my ass. In other words, he’s saying ‘The expectations for love and the idea of a perfect couple are a heterosexual relationship, and anyone who 'finds their own way instead of the ones people expect’ are different’. ‘Different’ and ‘default’ are antonyms, so if you think LGBT people are different, then you think that straight is the default. Aphrodite is the goddess of love not heteronormative bullshit. Like Riordan, honey, you’re the one who thinks that the expectations for love and the idea of a perfect couple are heterosexual couples, not fictional gods from a fictional mythology. Remember kiddos- an author writes their own beliefs
If you don’t agree with some of these that’s fine sis it doesn’t matter if you have different opinions than me❤️
