definitely the type to literally worship his darling. like, he has a whole shrine for them, and that's even before they actually meet.

he totally starts off as a stalker, feeling like they would never actually want to be w him or like him, but eventually, he feels a little less inadequate. he'd use his work as an excuse as to why darling has to be careful about making friends and tries to convince them to become friends w someone like vanderwood, who he trusts. definitely suggests just running away and going off-grid together w darling, is really like 'all i need it you'. believes darling is too good for him (and everyone else) which is why he's fixated on isolating them so much. if they happen to be around the same area, he's definitely disguising himself to try and approach them, or he starts texting them online as 707, far too nervous to let them meet the real him just yet. speaking off, i think he'd purposely place a phone/download an app into your phone so you can talk to him (and its easier for him to spy on you) ^^

It got me thinking in Saeyoung's AE when Saeran said Saeyoung can have obsessive tendencies ik it's a dream but does that mean Saeyoung does have them

Saeyoung's initial After Ending that you unlock after his route is a manifestation of his subconscious. It's nothing more than a dream where he imagines a happy ending with his friends and family, and that means while everything feels warm and fuzzing, it also feels a little uncanny because Saeyoung's subconscious doesn't know how to engage with an older Saeran.

He doesn't know what Saeran is like and his mind cultivates an image of his mind's idea of a perfect happy ending until he jolts up in a cold sweat, realizing it was just a dream. So, we have to take anything in a dream with a grain of salt. However, what I can tell you is what I'm so sure of when it comes to Saeyoung. I won't call it obsession, I will do one better and call it what it is.

Saeyoung suffers from PTSD and acute paranoia. His mind believes he needs to be prepared for war, even if there's no reason to fight a single soul. It's a byproduct of hypervigilance in an abusive home, on top of the years he spent in the agency, living in fear that someone in the group would kill him, or worse, someone he pissed off would cut off his life before he had a chance to see his brother "happy".

So, this majorly shapes how Saeyoung engages with this. Even at his best, his fears control him. He is at risk of losing everything at every step of the way. That's what his mind thinks, and if you pay attention to him enough, you get to notice a lot of little patterns and quirks on the way to loving him that shows just how difficult it can be for him. We know his fears are often justified, but that doesn't mean it's good for him to live that way.

Saeyoung is a smart man, but he will act rashly when he's afraid of losing something. A good example is when he yanked Saeran out of the hospital in the Secret Ending. He knew that was wrong, and that his brother needed medical attention, but the fear that any slip-up in that place could draw attention from Saejoong made him act. He did not think twice. He stole Saeran from the hospital, thinking that was the only way to save his life.

Poor choice.

Saeran needed help.

But, the risk/benefit analysis in his head told him that Saeran could never heal if Saejoong killed him, and leaving him in the hospital at his worst when Jumin warned him that they couldn't cover up these things with his brother forever was never going to pan out in his old head. So, would I say that Saeyoung could be obsessive when he's in a place where he acts out of paranoia and fear?

Kind of, but that's not the word I'd use like I said. He isn't a "yandere" which, I feel like a lot of these questions tend to ask that without the word being used. He doesn't want to control you so you never leave. It's not about that.

It's the fear that if he doesn't marry you or get to experience being with you "like normal guys get to do in relationships", he might lose you. Like, you'll get killed by someone and he'll live in misery alone forever because you were his only love and he never got to see you with a ring on your hand. Or, you break up with him because he's just not good enough and he accepts that he ruined a good thing. He is insecure and fearful, my friends. But, not toxic intentionally.

Controlling is a better word. He means well but that doesn't mean it's the right thing. I think people need to think about how Saeyoung struggles because as his MC, you and Saeran are the ones who will have to deal with Saeyoung's paranoia. That doesn't just go away because Saeran is with you. Saejoong is still a threat and so are many people he pissed off in the agency.

Saeyoung will be... well, at his worst, controlling and pressuring. Take this tracker with you, call me if you leave somewhere alone, let me go and make sure you're safe on the CCTV, let me know where you are and how you're doing throughout the day, and so on and so forth. He lives in a secured bunker, too. Do you know how many locks are on it and how long it takes to crack?

It's safe but it could end up feeling like a prison.

I don't get to talk a lot about Saeyoung since the guy is my brother-in-law and people don't ask me about his mental health or what's going on in his head. His paranoia is the tip of the iceberg, I haven't even unpacked how he was parentified and how that affects the way he interacts with Saeran!

I'm in the middle of reading your Unknown fic but Real Life intruded so I had to pause but I enjoyed it! Never thought I'd see a yandere from you and hey you've got potential👀

Anyway! Random question time: what's a self-indulgent thing in writing fanfics that you want to do but hasn't so far?

Eheheh thank you Xela! I'm glad you liked it (just saw your tags on the fic!). I feel like something like this was out of my wheelhouse but so much fun to write! I've written Unknown a few times now, but I'm pretty sure this was the first time I took it in this direction. It's always super interesting to get into his brain and put him in situations. He's such an interesting character.

As for the Yandere Saeyoung you mentioned in those tags, don't get me started!! I think he has the potential to be just as bad if not worse (and drowning in denial over what he's doing). It would all start from hm feeling a need to 'protect' the MC. Cue him tapping their phone, following them around (in person and through CCTV) and maybe even meeting them while in disguise. It would be deeeelicious.

Also! For the random question let's see...

I mean the most obvious answer is Knight Luciel and AUs of that sort. They're so far out of my knowledge set and I don't think I could ever do them any sort of justice. I think those will stay in my head for now.

Also, is it obvious to say smut? I remember when I first started writing I got embarrassed over writing any sort of intimacy and now I can handle a small amount of spice. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to that level of comfort but writing myself a few smut fics about Saeyoung would be the definition of self-indulgent.

There is that half-drafted V route 707xMC AU I have lying around somewhere that I started last year. The whole thing is still a bit wonky but I think with time it could be something good and super self-indulgent. Think DSMN but even worse bc V is alive heheheh

Finally... Before starting this account I used to want to write a fully fleshed out multichap fic of 707s route, filling in the gaps that we were missing based on calls and CGs. I've done a few one offs filling in some gaps but there's always more I want to say. Maybe when I find the time and motivation I'll write that one day 👀

MM Classpecting: Yoosung

This is a continuation from my first MM Classpecting post, where I classpected Zen, and clarified how I will go about classpecting the MM characters.

Yoosung:

Personality/General Info: Human incarnation of a puppy. Friendliest RFA member. Loves talking and spending time with people (joined many clubs in university because he loves new experiences). Naive, gullible, and trusting. Depressed and copes with video games (LOLOLOL addict). Used to be studious, but became aimless/unmotivated due to Rika’s death. His main inspiration for studying and becoming a veterinarian due to Rika and her dog. Can be possessive (yandere). Wants a girlfriend very badly. Can be hard-working if he puts his mind to something.

Role in Narrative: In conflict with V (doesn’t trust). 1st person to question his motives and intentions. Mostly background role (except his route). Isn't a key player in the main story. His character arc is coming to terms with his grief for Rika. Also, taking control of his life and finding his own purpose, his motive not being based solely on Rika anymore, but for himself. He is earnest and wants to have a larger role in helping, and this only happens in his route.

Active or Passive: Seems to be more passive, doing things for others. We see this in his route when he willingly goes to Mint Eye and gets in between Unknown and Saeyoung, getting hurt in the process. He follows through with becoming a veterinarian in his After Ending, healing injured pets. Besides the RFA, he did charity work in the past. In the Secret Endings this is still the case, being there for Rika when she becomes mute, helping her get sent to Alaska for therapy.

Classpect - Heir of Heart: One who changes Heart, or changes through Heart for others.

How this applies to Yoosung: Very malleable, the RFA member who changes the most based on all the endings in the game, based on the people he meets and interacts with (Rika, MC, Jumin, 707, etc.) Defining moments that alter him? Rika’s ‘death’, meeting MC, etc. Alter him drastically, to a point that he is unrecognizable compared to other RFA members in their Good Endings. Can become emotionally distant (in his route after finding out Rika’s apartment has a bomb).

He is the youngest member and needs to do a lot of maturing. Yoosung isn’t a leader, he is a follower and follows his Aspect. He is passive because he does things to benefit others. He lost his eye in his route for the sake of MC.

In the SEs, he has another one by finding out that Rika is alive and that V died. Sadly, we don’t see much of him after this, but it obviously will change him forever. Yoosung does lose himself after Rika’s 'death', being consumed by depression and emotions (this applies to his Heart Aspect), neglecting his studies. He escapes his responsibilities and plays videogames instead. But, we do see him at his full potential in his route by meeting MC. It leads him to being brave and heading to Mint Eye, as well as pursuing his path as a veterinarian, finally having firm goals and aspirations.

Here is what the Hiveswap Extended Zodiac has to say about the Heart Aspect:

"Those bound to the aspect of Heart are very concerned with their favorite subject: themselves. It wouldn't be a stretch to call them 'self-obsessed', but not necessarily in a negative way. They simply want to understand the one thing we all are stuck with for our entire lives, i.e. our own minds. Forging an identity is extremely important to the Heart-bound, and every decision and action goes toward building a coherent narrative of their own story. That isn't to say Heart-bound don't care deeply for their friends and allies; they just have a tendency to assume that everyone is as concerned with identity as they are. They are excellent at putting on and taking off masks as the situation calls for them. At their best, they are competent, imaginative, and steady. At their worst they can be overbearing, inflexible, and cold."

How this applies to Yoosung: The variety in Yoosung’s character and his endings makes sense as he is currently in a phase of his life that is uncertain, and thus has a lot of different paths he can take. This is also because he is someone who lacks a solid identity, a struggle seen in the Heart bond. I think that Heart symbolizes emotions, romance and soul. Mainly, it is all about identity. Depending on the situation, a Heart player adapts different personas and desperately wants to understand who they are. We see this with how Yoosung moves from club to club in his university, never settling on one thing. The way he interacts with people can differ (ex. interacting with V vs. MC). Romance is also something the Heart player is in great pursuit of, along with feeling a lot of emotions. Yoosung, along with Zen are one of the first RFA members to openly take an interest in MC romantically when she joins the RFA. He is also extremely emotional, being very expressive in the chatroom. This leads him to acting on his impulses, like how he can't help but play LOLOLOL even when its a detriment to his health.

Yoosung as an Heir of Heart metaphorically becomes Heart, and just by being surrounded by his Aspect, and taking it in, it impacts the people around him too. An example is that Jaehee brings up how Yoosung’s presence helps cheer her up (Christmas DLC dialogue). Similar to Zen, Yoosung brings levity to the RFA chatroom. His naivety and honesty causing Saeyoung to tease him constantly, his open emotions as an Heir of Heart sadly being used against him here.

He will also change himself constantly, his identity not being consistent as I’ve said. Being this flexible could benefit him for the better. However, due to Yoosung's honesty with his emotions, its very easy for others to influence or manipulate him. Rika has been the one to do this to Yoosung for years, shaping him into a model student and making him fall in love with life. Both her introduction and departure from his life changes Yoosung immensely.

We see in some of his bad endings that if allowed to change for the worse for the sake of someone he likes, he could end up becoming extremely possessive. He could lose himself and his life. So, this is why he needs to mature. To move on from the things he is constantly stuck on.

As an Heir of Heart specifically, he can help the people around him realize their romantic feelings/emotions/true selves. I suppose you could argue he does help do this in the SEs? Yoosung does ‘follow his heart’ in a lot of ways, using his compassion and empathy to reach out to Rika in the SEs, despite finding out that she lied about her death. He also comes to terms with his distrust with V at his funeral, learning to understand him. He roots for Saeyoung and MC when they want to go and save Saeran. He welcomes Saeran into the RFA with open arms despite all of the madness surrounding them.

I see Yoosung throughout the story as not a fully realized Heir of Heart, but he does become that by the end of SE and the GE of his own route.

Remembering a couple times in the early days of Yoosung's route where Zen tries to "jokingly" flirt with MC (mostly the whole "or else I'm gonna snatch you away~" convo) and im thinking about how satisfying it would be to make him kinda jealous or smthn (since I didn't appreciate it that much). I just want the rest of the rfa to respect him and see him as an adult yknow.

The thing that’s funny is that both Yoosung and Zen are pretty jealous lmao

Add Jumin to the group and I think everyone else is like kinda jealous chill?

I was replaying some of Yoosung's calls on his route and came across the weird one where he says

'LATE AT NIGHT I IMAGINE THINGS'

'YOU MIGHT NOT LIKE ME IF I TELL YOU HEHE'

'I MAY BE MORE OUT OF THE ORDINARY THAN YOU THINK ~'

...

Yoosung...what ??

Anon, what do you think he meant? So, like, the answer here isn't a lewd one, per se. It's about how Yoosung has the tendency to feel a lot of emotions intensely. Saeyoung jokes that Yoosung has some... yandere tendencies at his worst, and there is a bad ending that does back that information up. I assume that's what he meant by a lot of shameful thoughts. I think he feels bad that he wants to be your one and only when that's not how relationships work. You can't possess a person like that.

I mean, sure, granted he has thoughts about being with you in a way that's intimate by whatever account you want to imagine.... but I can say I'm more or less certain that's what his thoughts are about. This back-and-forth fight with his impulses as he learns what's a healthy relationship and what isn't.

I really don’t know why I thought that after so long away from writing that my habits would have changed. I came into this fic thinking it would be like 2-3k words of smut and gore. I’m 10 above that target with 1.5 of three sex scenes finished, more horror than planned, and still the grande fucked up finale to write and figure out the logistics of. Man. This bastard really has me by the throat. I’ve written role play involving an aggressive dom before -blows a kiss to Saeyoung- but never straight up consensual bastardry.

I might post some of it here tomorrow to see if y’all think it’s better in the current second person “you” perspective or if I should make reader-chan into the OC she’s trying to become and go third person. I feel like giving the “reader” a bunch of obscure skills and a legitimate obsession with her idol is putting too much on a character for most to comfortably self-insert. Plus, they meet a gory end eventually as things go a bit yandere. Idk.
