Jason was a boring person, not a boring character, here’s why (speaking as a Jason fan).
He had all the setup to be an interesting person and by all means could have been! Raised by wolves, child of Jupiter, fricken toddler stapler-induced scar on his face. Favorite of Hera/Juno (who hates pretty much all demigods), the first Roman demigod to make contact with the Greek demigods (successfully) in decades. He was a very interesting character and could have been an interesting person from the start. So why wasn’t he?
Because for much of his life, he was never given the chance to be his own person. He joined the legion very young, where the expectations placed upon him as a legion member and child of Jupiter crushed him into a very limited box, or onto a narrow pedestal; you decide the metaphor. Point is, there were expectations on him to be a certain way coming from all over the place. He tried to fit into (most) of those expectations to the point that he never stopped to wonder who he was or what he wanted to do.
I think the only thing we were told he ever did for himself was joining the “worst” cohort when everyone expected him to join the best one. But otherwise, he was everything everyone else wanted him to be, and not much more.
A lot of people neg him for that, but that was an important part of his story. It makes perfect sense why he was like that given what he went through, and it was great to see him start to grow out of that and come into his own in TOA (before his tragic death cut his story short). I wish we could have seen him become more of his own person sooner, but in HOO he was always on a quest and, well, I think he was conditioned to always put the quest first.
Yes, Jason was boring. But that’s ok! That was an important part of his character arc!

Maybe soulmates aren’t always we were made for each other from the start. Maybe we made ourselves for each other over time.
Maybe at first we were separate saplings but with time we grew together until our trunks and branches were so intertwined that there was no me or you, only us.
What am I meant to do with the empty space of where your trunk and branches used to be now that you’re gone?

Soulmates aren’t inherently romantic.
Soulmates are we’re best friends and being around you feels so right and natural.
Soulmates are you’re my sibling who annoys the heck out of me but I would die and kill for you.
Soulmates are you were meant to be my cat/dog and I was meant to be your human.
Soulmates are I can’t stand to be without you in my life but I know we’ll be ok even if we don’t see each other for a while.
Soulmates are we were made for each other, the pieces of our souls fitting together like Lego pieces, whether it was easy at first or maybe we had to work at it.
We were always meant to find each other, we were made to be in each other’s lives. That could be romantic, platonic, familial, human-pet, or any other relationship.

Do you ever think about if Steven and Connie occasionally fuse as adults and annoy the heck out of their children?
They’ll say shit like “go ask your mother” without realizing that they ARE the mother (and father)

This. I use “guys” gender neutrally but refrain from using it around my amab trans friends. I almost said “go piss girl” to my afab trans friend once (also gender neutrally) but realized halfway through so I only said “go piss” (they actually thought that one was really funny). You can use words in a gender neutral way while also being respectful of trans people. Also, if you’re not sure? Maybe just default to using language that’s already gender neutral.
I think if another person calls me girl and then uses the excuse ‘well its gender neutral’ I should legally be allowed to kill.
Like woah! I don’t care if you are using it ‘gender neutrally’ don’t call me that!

me: i don’t want to see jellyfish so i will blacklist the tag #jellyfish
people with no common sense: je11yf1sh, je11¥fi5h, j*llyf*sh, je//ÿf!sh, j3ï||yf¡sh, gel lee fisk
result: cannot account for the sheer amount of possible ways to alter the word jellyfish
conclusion: i have to see jellyfish now.
Once again, tumblr is not tiktok, tag properly.

As I’m learning to be more comfortable with being partly fem I notice that it’s a distinctly different sort of femininity than whatever is expected of me when I’m considered a cis woman. When I’m perceived as cis it feels…wrong. Forced.
Definitely part of it is because of sexism but it’s also because…I’m not cis. I’m non-binary. Multigender. Genderfluid. Whatever other labels describe this mishmash within me. To be regarded as cis, even when I’m feeling more fem, it’s not correct
I don’t know if there’s a term for what I’m describing but I can tell the difference. When the vast majority of people default to she/her, when they call me a girl or a woman or a lady, it feels icky. I feel forced, stuck.
But when my boyfriend talks with me…man. Whole ‘nother thing. He knows I’m non-binary. He freely switches pronouns and terms around and it’s awesome. And when he uses she/her? Calls me a woman or a girl? It feels so different. It feels good. I think it’s because he knows I’m not just a woman. I’m not just a guy either. I’m Tobias. He knows, he gets it, and he respects that. It’s…gah, it’s euphoric
It’s funny, not really being all that fem and getting euphoria like that from fem terms. Proof that terms don’t equal gender!

Can we talk about Kiff’s marketing for a second?
Because I’ve been thinking about it a lot since the show first came out. There seems to be a pattern of Kiff ads on Disney channel that are either inadvertently or intentionally made to be annoying to the viewer, and that seems counterintuitive to me. Wouldn’t Disney want to bring more viewers in, instead of turning them away?
Let me elaborate. Before the show even premiered, Disney channel was airing the theme song very often during their commercial breaks - not an unusual thing for them to do recently - but it’s not the catchiest song, and relies more on sudden jarring sounds/instruments compared to other Disney TVA theme songs. It’s not a bad theme song by any means, but it wasn’t designed to be listened to over and over again in a short period of time. By the time the first episode came out, I was so beyond sick of the song. I was really excited for the show to premier, but when it did, I actually had to turn it off before the theme song was even over. I needed a cool off period before hearing the song didn’t make my blood boil and my skin crawl. That’s what initially got me wondering about the marketing for Disney’s animated shows these days. Why overplay the song to the point of turning away potential viewers? Why not just make regular ads for the show?
More recently, there was that ad for new Kiff episodes featuring an edit of Barry screaming for a very long time, which was even worse. My mom started complaining when the ad would come on tv (very unlike her), and I don’t blame her. We had to start muting the ads altogether. I even muted the actual scene in the episode when it premiered!
But you know what? Barry doesn’t actually scream that long in the episode! They edited the scene to make it much longer for the ad, which suggests that they’re deliberately leaning into making annoying ads for Kiff.
I love Kiff so much, it’s a phenomenal show that reminds me a little of the Fungies (rip), but if I didn’t already watch the show, I know the whole Barry screaming ad debacle would turn me away from the show for good. I’m really wondering what’s up with Disney TVA’s marketing right now? Why does Kiff’s marketing almost seem self-sabotaging?

Does anyone else on the aroace spectrum ever feel like
I’m in my twenties and I WANT these big epic romances I see in movies and tv and books and even in my social circles but
I literally feel no attraction to anyone
Like I feel like I’m missing out on this life experience but I can’t help it
