Okay, so I am dying to finish my current book, A Darker Shade of Magic. Although I have loved the previous V. E. Schwab books I've read, this one hasn't managed to grip me in the same way.
The world building is masterful, and Schwab's prose is top notch as usual, I just think it has fallen short on the character arc a little bit. I've read reviews that the second book in the series, A Gathering of Shadows, gets better so I'm not going to give up on the series but I need a break from it so...
I have ordered The Raven Boys as the algorithm recommended it based on my previous reads. I'm really excited about starting this series and with it being YA it should be quick and snappy to read (I hope). Has anyone on here read The Raven Cycle already?
Next, I have also ordered the whole Captive Prince trilogy, it arrives in the post next week. Very excited about that too! 🙈
If you have any tips/ words of wisdom on any of these series, please let me know!

This Snowbaz fic by @mooncello absolutely has my heart right now and it doesn't have anywhere near the number of hits and hype it deserves!
@iamamythologicalcreature also did some fantastic art for it which makes it even better!
Just so much talent 🩷👏

Three lost boys (found)
“Pan would have never done this,” Hook eventually says. “Tonight would have ended in blood.”
“Disappointed?” Simon asks.
Hook releases a long sigh. It sounds sad. Tired. “Can’t say that I am. I used to be a lost boy myself.”
“You were?” I ask, turning to look at the slumbering kids a short distance away.
“Not that kind,” Hook says with distaste. His voice softens. “A different sort of lost somewhere else.”
Excerpt from Lost Boys, by @mooncello
I am so excited to announce that I'll be adding illustrations to @mooncello's absolutely gorgeous (and highly inspirational) fanfic "Lost Boys." I've been fangirling this story from the first sampling I read on a wipsday post, and getting to illustrate Heath's beautiful prose is an absolute dream.
If you haven't read Chapter 1 yet, now's an excellent time to do so! You can get the full context for the illustration above, and see a higher res version, if you so desire.
Thank you for inviting me to play in your sandbox, Heath! <3

Just finished The King's Men and completed the AFTG Trilogy.
Unsurprisingly, this book made me cry. The emotional growth that Neil goes through in these three books is awe-inspiring. The fact that at each point when he is in danger or thinks he might lose it all he keeps telling himself that he had more than he ever thought he could just about broke my shrivelled little heart.
The way he is so careful and respectful of Andrew's boundaries is true love and we need more relationships written like this.
I love Neil Josten, he will always have a little piece of my heart. ❤️
So yes, 10/10. Need to read something else now to give myself a chance recover emotionally.
Also, if this reaches anyone in the know, is The Sunshine Court out already or when is it being released? because I keep jetting hit with all this Jerejean fanart on Insta and I'm wondering what book are artists basing this on?

Quick thoughts:
1. Neil is so in love with Andrew but isn’t aware
2. Andrew loves him back
3. Foxes = found family
4. Trigger central
5. Fuck Riko, honestly.

Me today when the postie delivered the hardcover copies of the Carry On books I ordered from the US.
I think he was perturbed.
Don’t worry, Mr Postman, it’s not kinky toys, just three books about two sweetie pies falling desperately and hopelessly in love.
(Although sorry to inform you you might have also delivered smutty books to this address before. Sorry not sorry).

Okay, yes I've just finished The Foxhole court and I am planning to start The Raven King immediately. I've caught the bug.
Spoilery opinions to follow so If you haven't read it, avert your eyes. 🫣
So, I went into reading this knowing that Andreil was going to be a thing (thank you, Tumblr), still I also saw some stuff that people guessed Kevin was going to be Neil's love interest and I'm thinking - are we reading the same book? Because I think Andrew fell for Neil hard and quick. And he is pretty obvious about it, too.
Also, not sure what that says about me but I bloody love Andrew. I am biased as I always love a villanous-but-ultimately-good character. I do have some reservations however about him being ONLY FIVE FEET TALL! I mean, I know that Neil refers to him as a psychotic midget, which is funny tbh but also what if it really is a medical condition? Like 5 ft for an adult male is alarmingly short. I just feel if Nora had made him 5ft3 instead of 5ft I wouldn't have been worrying about him being mocked for a potential actual medical condition. That's all.
Book Two, here I come! 🤓

When you just finish writing the fic that you’ve been working on for months and decide, as a treat, to re-read your older fics, realise you hate them and want to re-write or heavily edit most of the text but really don’t have the time right now.

Just finished The House in the Cerulean Sea by TJ Klune and what a lovely book it was ❤️
It’s a story about using your voice, being different and found family. It’s also a beautiful queer love story that left me feeling all warm and fuzzy.

Thanks @sunattacksthemoon for the tag <3
As per my usual, I'm going to be doing the tag all wrong because this is a (albeit cartoonish) fair representation of what I look now and I can confidently say, at my ripe old age, that I wouldn't change a thing!
I've had my hair five different colours, all possible cuts, had a nose ring for years and went through a myriad of different experimental fashion phases.
Ultimately, I came back to who I was when I started: the emo kid with too many earrings and messy hair. (greasy hair? am I Severus Snape?)
Still, go out and have fun with your look kids. Cut your fringe when you're sad, regret it immediately, buy the cheesy t-shirt and wear it with pride. It's all rock n roll!
Remember to love yourself nonetheless (even if it's the hardest thing sometimes).
picrew link:)) if you want to make your own little portrait <3

Why both Jily and Jegulus make sense in the Marauders Fandom
Tumblr media
Okay, so I have been seeing a few posts recently dismissing Jegulus as a ship and, although I am personally more of a Jily than a Jegulus girly, I thought I'd explain why both ships make sense to me in the context of the original source material.
We know that there is a direct link between the Marauders and the Golden Trio in the books, and that each member of one mirrors a member of the other.
James and Harry being the most obvious, as father and son and the perceived 'leader' of their group of friends.
Sirius and Ron, the 'best friend'. Both from pureblood families, although the Blacks and the Weasleys couldn't be more different in their beliefs. Both feel misunderstood and perhaps misplaced in their family. Both give James and Harry unadulterated, solid friendship that is fiercely loyal and unquestioning.
Remus and Hermione, the outcasts. Remus due to his lycanthropy, Hermione due to her muggleborn status. Both try to counterbalance this by excelling in their studies and are, by nature (again, this is in the original books) more rule-followers rather than rebels.
Peter and Neville, the astonished Gryffindors. Both from pureblood families, both equally surprised by being sorted in the house where bravery is valued most. They each deal with impostor syndrome, but whilst Neville's friends build him up and he eventually comes into his own thanks to Dumbledore's Army, Peter fails (or is failed by his friends) in doing so and betrays them for the dark side.
We know that Harry ends up marrying Ginny, who is, like Lily, a magically talented and strong-willed red-haired witch but is also his best friend's younger sibling. So, James falling for Regulus doesn't feel like too far a stretch to me.
Jegulus also gives the opportunities to explore a lot of interesting considerations for writers, such as (i) what is the difference between loving someone as a best friend and loving someone romantically; (ii) you can't choose the family you are born into but you can make your own family as you grow older; (iii) what are the differences in relationship dynamics between partners, lifelong friends and siblings?
I'm sure someone has more cleverly and thoroughly analysed these parallels before but I just wanted to share my unsolicited opinion with the tubmlrverse.
Overall, I would say if you enjoy reading something, read it. If you find yourself not enjoying something, DON'T. Freedom is fickle in this flawed world, so exercise it ruthlessly where you can.
Ok, rant over, Misia out x

Okay yes, so I’m actually genuinely considering writing a fanfic focussing on Victor Vale from V E Schwab’s Villains Series. Would anyone actually read it though?
I might write it anyway.
It will have to be later in the year as I already have three fics in the pipeline which take precedence: 1) a Rosekiller for the Bartyevan Fanfic Fest, 2) a Wolfstar for the R/S Fanfic Fest and 3) the much overdue Epilogue to Wild Horses.
I also want to write a Snowbaz eventually, I love those guys 🥹❤️
