Okay, random idea for a new story set in the Renew Your Vows universe.
---
[Spider-Man Renew Your Vows: The Dark Daughter ]
Context
So it's revealed in the Spider-Girls, a tie in for the Spidergeddon crossover, that in the Renew Your Vows universe, MJ miscarried and their universe's May died.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The events surrounding RYV May's death likely echoes the events that take place in the original Amazing Spider-Man run, prior to One More Day. In ASM #418 after Mary Jane is poisoned by Alison Mongrain, and she goes into labor early, she is later told that she miscarried.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Interestingly, it was originally intended for the miscarriage to have been a ruse and for May to still be alive, but to have been stolen by Alison Mongrain for Norman Osborn's nefarious purposes. This concept is further explored in Mayday Parker's Spider-Girl series.
My idea
My idea goes as follows. The Parker Family are still fighting crime in New York as Annie is getting ready to graduate high school.
Things start going wrong however when a new spider inspired villain arrives in New York, going after the Parker family to hunt down and kill them all. The villain even goes as far as to deduce their secret identifies and attack them at home.
Along the way of fighting this villain, it is eventually revealed to be none other than May Parker. It's revealed that MJ didn't miscarry, but in reality her baby was stolen by Norman Osborn in order to be trained to adulthood to assassinate Spider-Man and his loved ones.
The mission to stop this villain soon changes into a mission to save their long lost loved one from the darkness she's engulfed in, and make the Parker family whole again.
---
So anyways that's my idea, I definitely think it could work but would love to hear feedback.

"I guess... I'm afraid.".
Tumblr media
I think one of the reasons that the "I'm afraid" scene in Red Dead Redemption 2 works so well and is the stand out scene for many is just how emotionally focused the scene is on Arthur's death and nothing else. It's a moment of peace for Arthur to just sit down and focus solely on his ever impending death.
When Arthur says "I'm afraid", he isn't experiencing the typical selfless and noble fear that a typical hero would have in a moment like this. In this moment, Arthur isn't afraid for the future of those close to him, or afraid for the fate of the gang or anything else outside of this small train station.
He's just a dying man who's scared of dying.

The Secret You Keep
Tumblr media
A small scene from my Spiderman AU that I have never once mentioned on Tumblr lol.
I envision this moment in time to take a place maybe a year after Gwen Stacy's death. Peter's been in a rough place, using Spider-Man as a way of escaping the reality of what happened, spending most of his time in costume. He tells his loved ones he's either working or going to therapy, when is reality he's using pain and adrenaline to try suffocating the grief. However, albeit at his lowest point, he's stopped from descending any further by Mary Jane. The two live together as roommates, as MJ tries to help Peter get back on his feet. The two have grown closer, closer than they ever were prior to Gwen's death, and Peter begins to feel something he can't describe, but he knows he's felt before...
That brings us to this specific moment. Peter is beaten, bloody, and tired. In his tired worn down state, he finds himself asking God or the universe or whatever higher power is out there, what he can he do to move forward when he has no idea how...
That's when he sees the billboard. Displaying the picture of MJ and that phrase... 'The Secret You Keep...'.
Maybe it's coincidence, but maybe it's a metaphorical sign as well as a physical one. A sign that his unsure feelings for MJ aren't wrong to be felt. A sign that if he shares his secret, the secret of his great responsibility, with her, he can finally move forward past the grief and into a better tomorrow. A sign that happiness can be found again.
But then again, maybe it's just a billboard...

The thing about Gwen Stacy's death that hits the hardest for me is the fact that when her father, Police Captain George Stacy, died in Peter's arms following a disaster caused by Doc Ock, he used his dying words to tell Peter to look after Gwen.
Tumblr media
"After I'm-- gone-- there'll be no one-- to look after her-- no one Peter --except-- you!".
"Be good to her-- son! Be good to her--".
"She loves you-- so very-- much---".
He used his dying breath to tell Peter to look after Gwen, to tell the man his daughter loved keep her safe, presumably believing Peter would protect Gwen and they would live a long and happy life together.
But Peter couldn't save Gwen, and ultimately couldn't honour George Stacy's dying wish.

Puss Baby Baby is a lil freak but we love him
DC Pride 2022's 2023 reprint is great.
Surprisingly, and surprising in a good way, it retconned that god awful Superman story by known !ncest shipper, and writer of Nightwing's r@pe, Devon Grayson.
Now, rather than being weapons to a Pride parade to 'disperse rioters', Damian Wayne is bringing all those weapons in case he has to protect Pride-goers. This actually fits the character and makes sense for Damian, which isn't surprising considering Devon Grayson wrote the original.
Also got rid of that god awful 'Pride has been a party for decades 🎉🎉' bullshit.
Good job DC.

//ATSV Spoilers//
So, I recently watched Across The Spiderverse last Friday and I fucking loved it. I've seen a lot of discussion surrounding small details and subtext in the movie, but I wanna discuss something I haven't seen a lot of people discuss.
Tumblr media
Peter B. Parker, specifically the fact that Peter B. Parker is one of the only main Spider-People that does not have multiverse traversing watch. Rather, Peter has a visitor band.
Now this may not seem all too important, most of the Spiders in the Spider-Society don't have watches. Most of them are simply visitors and aren't part of Miguel's inner circle.
But Peter B. clearly isn't just another Spider-Person in the Spider-Society, Peter B. is clearly part of Miguel's inner circle. He knows Miguel well, he behaves with Miguel like they're good friends, like they've known eachother for a while. Peter was even right next to Miguel when Miguel's dead counterpart's universe is collapsing, trying to help him however he could.
So why doesn't Peter have a watch when he clearly qualifies for one? Did he reject the offer for one? Did Miguel consider Peter unworthy of one for some reason?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have on why Peter B. Parker isn't given a watch, and it's pretty simple and makes a lot of sense imo.
Miles Morales.
Tumblr media
Peter loves Miles almost like a son, Miles is the reason Peter wanted to be a father, the reason he became a father. So, what would Peter do if he was given a device that gives him the ability to travel anywhere in the multiverse? He'd visit Miles. Peter even says himself in the movie that he wanted Miles to meet Mayday.
And that's why Miguel didn't give him a watch, because Miguel knew Peter would have inevitably tried to seek Miles out, and Miguel wasn't about to allow Peter to risk bringing what he saw as the root of all his problems into their operation. So Miguel not only forbade Peter from going to see Miles, he made sure he had no possible means of doing so. Miguel didn't even give Peter a limited watch with Earth 1610 unavailable as a destination, because he likely knew Peter is smart enough to be able to bypass such restrictions.
But that's just my theory. Lemme know what you think.

Worst live action Batman moment ever.
Snyderverse may be the worse live action Batman overall, but this is one of, if not the worst specific moment of all of live action Batman.
Say what you will about Snyderverse Bats, but at least that Batman owned up to the fact he was killing people, rather than using some bullshit technicality to be free of guilt.
Nolan Batman could have easily saved Ra's life here, but he actively chose not to. It not even a matter of Batman failing to save Ra's, he doesn't even try. It's arguably murder via inaction.
This moment just doesn't understand Batman's character. Batman doesn't just not kill people. If Batman has the opportunity to save a life, he has to try. No matter who they are, if Batman has the opportunity to save a life, he will take it 9 times out of 10. Batman wouldn't leave someone to burn to death in a fiery explosion, because Batman has an uncontrollable compulsion to save lives.
To make this even worse, in The Dark Knight, Batman spends half the movie in a moral dilemma over whether he should kill The Joker, when he literally left Ra's to die in a fiery explosion months prior, and he literally ends up in the exact same situation as Ra's. Joker did more to Batman on a personal level than Ra's ever did, but Batman ends up saving him because... Idk? I guess he stopped using bullshit technicalities in the less than a year between Begins and TDK, because Joker was falling to his death. Batman could have easily pulled out his classic 'don't have to save you' excuse and called it a day.
Such a dumb fucking moment man. You can tell the writer was patting himself on the back thinking he found the grand loophole of Barman's no kill rule.

Hot take, but Arkham Origins has the best story of the entire Arkham Saga, and it isn't close.
The origin of Batman going from being an angry weapon of vengeance becoming the hero we know him to be in the rest of the games is incredible.
I've heard so many criticise Origins for 'not being an origin story', but they fail to understand that the game is the origin of Batman's relationship with The Joker, which is arguably the focal point of the entire Arkham Saga.
None of the other games, come close to going as deep into Batman's character as Origins. It's pretty incredible.

A Beginners Guide To The Different Alters Of Bruce Banner: Part 1
• Bruce Banner: This is the host alter and the original personality of Bruce Banner. He is usually a kind hearted, soft spoken human man with a genius level intellect. He had a habit of repressing his negative emotions until a terrible accident.
Tumblr media
• Savage Hulk: This is the most common Hulk. The strongest one there is. The Savage Hulk is comparable to a child, being the manifestation of Bruce's anger from a childhood of abuse from his father that he never released. As a child, Bruce would be powerless to stop his father from hurting him and his mother, Bruce repressed his rage, thusly the Hulk was formed as a way of expressing his rage as a child
This alter is almost always guaranteed to emerge when Bruce is either under extreme distress or in grave danger, depending on whether he is the dominant Hulk at the time.
When Bruce shifts to this alter, his physical form changes also, growing in size and muscle mass, his skin also turns bright green.
The Savage Hulk's strength depends on how angry he is. The angrier he is, the stronger he becomes, this strength is seemingly unlimited. Savage Hulk is one of the strongest alters. However, while Savage Hulk excels in raw strength and power, he lacks in intelligence. He has intelligence akin to a child, and lacks any form of control over his emotions.
Tumblr media
• Joe Fixit/ The Grey Hulk: This is Bruce's first Hulk transformation in universe. Joe has a cunning and ruthless personality, usually being selfish and rarely looking out for nobody but himself, though he can be shown to care deeply for others. He is of average human intelligence, but is particularly street smart, being an expert in the art of crime. Bruce developed the Joe Fixit alter from watching black and white movies as a child after his father had beaten him to the point of having two black eyes. Joe was Bruce's idea of what a man was as a child, a tough guy who wisecracks and would beat somebody to death for pissing him off.
Joe's appearance in physical form usually depends on whether or not he is the dominant personality. He was initially the dominant Hulk when Bruce Banner was struck by the gamma bomb, but was made dormant when The Savage Hulk appeared.
When he initially began shifting to this alter, Bruce would grow in size and muscle mass, with his skin turning grey. Sometimes Joe Fixit would remain in Banner's human form. Most recently after being exposed to cosmic radiation, Joe would become a Hulk with gray skin and glowing red veins.
Initially, when Joe was The Grey Hulk, he would essentially act as a middle ground for Banner and Savage Hulk, being stronger than Banner and smarter than Savage Hulk, while being less intelligent than Banner and weaker than Savage Hulk. When in his human form, he is seemingly just a normal human in terms of abilities. When in his Cosmic Hulk form, Joe is seemingly stronger than his former Grey Hulk form, but it is unknown how his cosmic form compares to the other Hulks.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Devil Hulk/ Immortal Hulk: One of Bruce's earliest and most dangerous alters, Devil Hulk feels responsible for protecting Banner and destroying anyone who poses a threat to him. This alter manifested from Bruce's subconscious urge to kill his abusive father and lash out at those who would hurt him. Devil Hulk is extremely protective of Bruce, going to great lengths to keep him safe and loving him in an almost parental way. He is especially protective of Savage Hulk, who is the manifestation of Bruce's inner child.
Bruce kept Devil Hulk locked away for most of his life, terrified of the consequences of releasing such a terrifying being into the world. When Bruce was a child, Devil Hulk would plead with the young boy to let him take control so he could murder Brian Banner and protect Bruce, with Bruce seeing him as a monster under the bed. Devil Hulk's need to protect Bruce is to a deadly extent, willing to do anything to protect Banner. Although Devil Hulk does seem to carry a moral compass, however small and twisted it may be, as he once went out of his way to track down a robber to punish them for killing a little girl and attempting to kill Bruce, and promptly broke every bone in that robber's body, leaving him permanently comatose and disabled.
The circumstances of Devil Hulk's appearance are rather unique. When in the physical world, Devil Hulk takes the form of the classic green Savage Hulk, but in Bruce Banner's mindscape, Devil Hulk takes the form of a draconic monster, with red and orange scales and sharp teeth.
In terms of strength, Devil Hulk seems to be on the same level as the Savage Hulk in terms of strength, but it isn't known how strong he is exactly. What makes him dangerous is his sinister intellect, seemingly on the same level of intelligence as Bruce Banner himself.

Gotham Knights ending is so fucking dumb.
I really enjoyed the story, the concept of solving Batman's final unfinished case and taking on a mystery in Gotham even he was unaware of sounded great. The court of owls stuff was fun and had a light horror vibe to it, especially with the introduction of the talons.
Then the obvious twist happened with Talia abd League of Assassins becoming the last minute villains near the end of the game along with the man bats or whatever. I don't care about that junk, I only want to talk about two things. Talia as the twist villain and the actual ending.
Talia as the final villain and her motivations were so boring and cliche. It was so obvious she was going to betray you and take over Gotham once the Court was gone, and 'character helps you defeat mutual enemy so they can fill in the power vaccum' is such an overused trope especially in gaming. I became more interested when she revived Bruce, but quickly lost interest when her motivations were simply 'i am going to brainwash him and we will be evil and rule together hahaha'. They could have done so much with Talia surrounding Bruce's death and her motivations to revive him, they could have maybe had Talia grieving for the man she once loved and maybe she wanted to revive him simply because she couldn't accept that he waa really gone. I really am growing sick of modern DC making Talia some Ra's Jr, when she has so much more nuance than that.
But what really fucking bugs me is the ending of the game, where Bruce sacrifices himself. Not only do they bring Bruce back to life only to kill him off again immediately, but they have him kill himself and countless Talons in a kamikaze attack. This is so fucking embarrassingly bad, as they literally had an entire cutscene dedicated to pointing out that killing the Talons would still be killing and that it would be wrong, but I guess it's fine if you do it after an epic Batman speech in a le epic action packed explosion.
This ending fucking sucked so hard man.
