BTSV Thoughts:

I was thinking about Beyond The Spider Verse recently and theorizing how the movie could play out. At the same time I was also catching up on some Miles Morales comics as well.

One of my favourite Miles Morales/Gwen Stacy comics is the one where they have a crossover and Miles ends up on Earth 65 looking for his dad. (SpiderMan & Spider Gwen: Sitting In A Tree) It’s also the comic where Gwen and Miles go on this huge adventure together in hopes of finding Miles’s dad, and in the process of that Miles and Gwen get separated and Gwen ends up in a dimension where her and Miles are married and celebrating their anniversary.

In this dimension she also finds out that her and Miles have kids and it leads to a funny/awkward interaction.

It would be really cool/funny If part of BTSV followed a chunk of this comic storyline. At the moment Gwen and Miles are separated and Gwen has assembled a band to save him and because of that she’ll also have to travel part of the multiverse with her band to rescue him. If in the process of travelling the multiverse with her band she accidentally got separated from the group it would be funny if she ended up on this earth and saw this version of herself and Miles.

🛑 Major SATSV Spoilers 🛑

I recently saw SpiderMan: Across the Spider-Verse and it was amazing. I love all the hype the movie is getting, but I’ve been seeing a lot of Gwiles (Gwen x Miles) slander for the dumbest reasons ever. So, I thought I would just debunk some of them because it’s clear you antis struggle with media literacy so let’s go.

1. “Gwen and Miles should’ve just stayed friends they were so much better platonic”

Saying this just makes me think you watched the first movie with your eyes closed because in what world were they ever “just friends”.

You can’t say they were better platonic when they were never even platonic to begin with. Both Miles and Gwen had a mutual crush on one another in the first film so they were never “just friends” + the first film was literally building up their relationship.

2. “Gwen betrayed miles in SATSV she’s fake”

No, no she didn’t, Gwen didn’t invent the laws of the multi-verse and she doesn’t run the spider society. It’s not Gwen’s fault that Spider-Man becoming an orphan or half an orphan is a multiversal constant.   There’s nothing in her power she can do to change that and Miles being chased by all the other Spider people wasn’t Gwen‘s fault either that was Miguel’s.

Saying stuff like “she should have told Miles about what was going to happen to his dad” again just makes me think you watched the movie with your eyes closed because Gwen wasn’t even allowed to interact with Miles and if she told Miles (A SpiderMan that isn’t even part of the spider society) about what was going to happen to his dad Miguel would’ve found out and would’ve kicked her out of the spider society. She was almost kicked out in the first place for even talking to him imagine what would have happened if she told him about his dad and if she was kicked out she would’ve been homeless because her dad disowned her. She also states in the movie that she didn’t know how to tell him about it which makes sense because she hasn’t seen him in over a year so how would something that big and consequential come up in a conversation.

Not to mention, she’s young and inexperienced as a hero she’s gonna screw up and make mistakes she was put in a completely unfair circumstance by the adults around her and had an enormous amount of pressure put on her shoulders. Blaming the teenage girl for a situation like this instead of Miguel and Jessica or even Peter B is absolutely wild.

3. “They have No chemistry”

Now this one is just completely biased because you know damn well…

These stills alone just prove you wrong because no way you watched the movie, saw the way they looked at each other, and interacted and actually said “they don’t have chemistry”. 💀

4. Lastly I’ve seen people hate on Gwiles solely based on the fact that it’s an interracial relationship and the fact that this is a problem in 2023 is mind boggling. Some of y’all are just racist bigoted people who need to learn how to stfu.

Since Dickkory fans have been hating on them recently

Calling them “siblings” which is literally impossible given they have different parents and weren’t even raised together. They just both look up to Bruce (who is Dick’s adoptive father) because they both aspire to be good and powerful hero’s like him someday. Dick has been her best friend since they were young it’s called the “Friends to Lovers” trope.

Saying Dickkory is better because it’s not “toxic” and because it’s more of a “real relationship” is absolutely baffling, let me show you something real quick!!

Oh would you look at that!! Guess your boy ain’t that invested in his relationship with Kory after all. 🤭

Other Dc characters themselves stating that Dickbabs is endgame and Dick’s best and most meaningful relationship is with Babs.

Oh look! DICK GRAYSON himself saying he’d always go back to Babs.

The crossroads of destiny fight is so hard to swallow because how are you going to introduce Azula like one of the best benders, a good fighter, one that also applies non-bending fighting style into her curriculum but in another episode simply go and make her watch a water bender bend water right in front of her mid fight and not even dodge the attack. Please. What is the explanation for THAT. Even if Katara is considered the best fighter between the two HOW. DID. AZULA. LET. THAT. HIT. HER.

Its just unacceptable, if they wanted Katara to win the fight so bad the least they could, was to have her hit azula with something better than that plssss

It really pisses me off they way certain comic book writers write Barbara Gordon. She is a strong, sassy, snarky independent young women who isn’t afraid to speak her mind but in certain comics she’s written off as Steph and Cass’s babysitter or just Dick’s girlfriend and they take away all of her key personality traits that make her who she is.

She is her own person and her own character. On top of that she’s also one of the most iconic characters in DC, let her be her own character again and STOP TAKING AWAY HER VERY DISTINCT PERSONALITY.

My Unpopular Star Wars Opinions:

- Movie Anakin is better than CW Anakin

- Padme is the best female SW character

- Anidala is the best SW couple/ship

- CW Anakin is a terrible characterization of him (for multiple reason)

- Vader is the most powerful sith

- Rey isn’t a Skywalker

- Rebels was boring as hell (I couldn’t even finish it)

- Plo was a better mentor to Ahsoka then Anakin ever was

- Ahsoka is A BIT of a Mary Sue

- Ahsoka’s outfit in the first couple seasons of CW was completely inappropriate and sexist and anyone who justifies it is gross

- Kenobi show was actually really good and is over-hated

- Reva isn’t a bad character but the writing for her could have been better

- Tales of the Jedi was the best Ahsoka appearance

- Padme’s character was fridged in ROTS

- Padme in ROTS was written so out of character

Selina Beauregard

Biana Vacker 

I’ve gotten a few ppl Ask me why I don’t like Biana as a character and I think the easiest way I can explain it is by comparing her character to Selina and showing the difference in writing between the two. Also I’m gonna be writing this in jot notes so just ignore the punctuation.

- A big issue with Biana as a character is the fact that she lacks development she starts off as a spoiled, privileged, rich brat Who’s entire character is about looking pretty, about appearances and about being the popular “it” girl at Foxfire

- The problem is she stays that way from book 1 to 8.5 there’s no development, there’s no character realization, there’s no moments where she changes and becomes a different, better person 

- And before you Biana stans come at me I hate to break it to you but what she did in nightfall was not character development it was selfish and self-centred

- Before they even go into nightfall Sophie tells her group to stay by her, not go off on their own and not try to make themselves the hero of the mission because it was about getting her parents out and leaving without getting caught but Biana disobeys the leader of her mission and the instructions that were given to her and went off on her own and risked everybody’s life in that room including Sophie‘s parents and almost got everybody killed because she decided to be selfish and because she wanted to have her own glory moment what she did was not heroic it was downright stupid and selfish risking everybody’s life around you just so you can make yourself look better makes you a selfish person and because of her actions the Gorgodon was released from the force field and she compromised the entire mission 

- After she gets hurt because of the consequences of her own actions nothing about what she’s done gives her time for her character to reflect, it’s not seen as selfish, nobody calls her out on that behaviour and it’s not seen as bad it’s just seen as heroic and then the story moves on

- Her decision in nightfall does not change her actions or behaviours as a character she just continues on as that same spoiled, rich, self-centred brat as she was in the first book her character does not change she still has the same personality and her character doesn’t go through any character realization where she grows and changes as a character she doesn’t take accountability for what she’s done or apologize for the lives she’s put in danger or the people that she’s injured because of her own actions she still believes what she did was heroic (which it wasn’t)

- Biana’s entire character is about her femininity which also doesn’t change even after nightfall her character is cliché and stereotypical and because she still has the same behaviours, attitudes and decision making after nightfall proves that her character didn’t develop or change



- Now Onto Selina Beauregard, Selina similar to Biana is heavily obsessed about her appearance and her physical identity on the outside, she falls more into the damsel in distress archetype because of the way she’s portrayed as a daughter of Aphrodite

- She’s not into physical fighting or learning hand to hand combat or sword fighting, she’d rather fly on a Pegasus all day and braid her hair however this changes once we get to the last Olympian 

- Selina isn’t forced to fight in the war she could’ve easily stayed back with the Ares kids because she didn’t want to risk her life or because she didn’t want to mess up her physical appearance or break a nail or mess up her hair but she didn’t and by giving her this choice it gives her character agency and gives her character development, towards the end of the story she leaves the war to convince Clarisse to come and help them fight Kronos however Clarisse still refuses

- Selina then steels Clarisse’s armour and leads the Ares cabin into war and goes undercover in the process to do so, she then fights a humungous monster, risks her entire life just to help save the world and defeat Kronos and by doing this she gets sprayed by acid and half of her face is melted off as well as her armour getting destroyed but in the end Selina didn’t care because she did it to save her fellow demigods and the rest of civilization

- Notice how this characters thinking, decision making, behaviours and attitudes change from the first book to the last because of this choice it shows how her character has really grown and changed as a person and she then gets something called ✨character development✨

- This is what makes Selina a well written fleshed out character because of this development and because her character actually changes which is something that didn’t happen with Biana

PADMÉ AMIDALA DESERVES BETTER

So pissed off about how Star Wars and Star Wars fans treat Padme‘s character. She was NOT just a love interest she was the queen of Naboo at just 14 years old, a senator, a politician Who helped the entire galaxy, the leader of a rebellion, and the OTHER parent to Luke and Leia not just Anakin.

I think it’s great that we got a Kenobi show and we’re getting an upcoming Ahsoka show and possibly a new Vader project in the future but with all of that I just keep asking myself “WHAT ABOUT PADME” she deserves a solo project to. She hasn’t been in anything besides the prequel‘s and the clone wars. She deserves her own project where she gets recognition and she gets the spotlight and doesn’t have to share it with anybody else.

The Star Wars franchise is centred around the Skywalker family and yet it always forgets Padme someone that deserves just as much recognition as Obi-Wan, Anakin, Ahsoka e.c.t. Hell even the clones are more appreciated and recognized then her which is SUCH BS.
