hello! very new baby witch here, I was wondering if you have any recommendations on servers on discord or how to make friends who are also interested in kitchen magic/dream magic, etc? <3 lots of love for your beautiful blog!
Hi! I’m personally not on a servers or other things like that so I’m not much help there. If anyone has any suggestions please comment them. If you are looking to make friends I would think about visiting local occult shops, following other witches on social platforms and maybe develop A friendship online. As always please be cautious regardless of whether or not you are talking to someone online or in person.

Hello, witches! Since I’m always harping on about learning your history and checking your sources, I thought I’d help folks get a head start by compiling some source material.
To that end, I’ve started a Dropbox folder with a stash of historical texts on witchcraft, magic, and related topics. Nearly everything I’ve managed to find so far is public domain (thank you Project Gutenberg), with the exception of a very thorough herbal grimoire I found online some years ago and a book of witchcraft from the 1970s that appears to be out of print.
I will be continuing in this vein with future texts that I find. Everything will be public domain or cited to the source that it came from, in PDF format. I will NOT be including PDFs of any book currently in circulation with a copyright linked to a living author or estate. The point of this folder is that everything in it should be free for sharing and open use as research materials.
Below is the initial list of titles. I tried to include as many as I could find, with a focus on some oft-cited classics. I will be adding new texts as I find them.
A Collection of Rare and Curious Tracts on Witchcraft and the Second Sight, by David Webster (1820)
A History of Witchcraft in England from 1558 to 1718, by Wallace Notestein (1909)

Witch Stories, by E. Lynn (Elizabeth Lynn) Linton (1861)
Witch, Warlock, And Magician, by W. H. Davenport Adams (1889)
Witchcraft & Second Sight in the Highlands & Islands of Scotland, by John Gregorson Campbell (1902)

Disclaimer: Please keep in mind that these texts are (with few exceptions) more than a century old, and may contain depictions, references, or language that are outdated and inappropriate. The point of including these documents is to provide access to historical texts for research and reference. Inclusion in the collection does not equal unconditional agreement with or wholesale approval of the contents.
Take everything with a grain of salt and remember to do your due diligence!
Happy Witching!   -Bree

why celtic astrology? I love your blog!
Thank you! I am focusing on Celtic astrology because as of right now I am very interested in Celtic traditions and culture. I am trying to connect more with that part of my family and the people that they were. Celtic traditions just also make me feel differently than others do. I feel more tied to it if that makes any sense.

how do you justify witchcraft/spirituality when there is such things as science. no hate just wondering
This is an excellent question. Science is a very important part of my life. I love that it shows us more about the way the physical world works and how it disproves ideas that don't serve us anymore. However I don't think science can explain everything. I and many other people have had experiences, have seen things and felt things that can not be explained through logic. I believe that there is a physical world and a spiritual ones. Witchcraft and spirituality are meant to deal with the spiritual world while science is meant to deal with the physical world. This is why you can't use witchcraft to cure illness, but you can use it to attract luck and get rid of energy that is harmful to you. Science and witchcraft are both very important to me but they serve very different purposes.

Calming Jar
Because sometimes, a witch just needs to remember to take a breath.
Materials:
Small jar with lid
Chamomile
Lemon Balm
Lavender
Spearmint
Caster’s nail clippings or hair
Find yourself a small jar and fill it with an equal-parts blend of Chamomile, Lemon Balm, Lavender, and Spearmint. To this, add a few of your nail clippings or a strand of your hair, and one good steady outward breath. (Don’t blow into the jar, that will just scatter things and make a mess. Just exhale long and slow, and try to release a little stress while you’re at it.)
Seal the jar and store it somewhere that it won’t be disturbed. Whenever you get those feelings of anxiety or you just can’t seem to simmer down, take the jar out and give it a shake, or pop the lid off and have a small sniff of the herbs inside. If it starts to smell funny or develops mold, discard the contents and clean the jar thoroughly, then start over.
Note: Please be aware of allergies when concocting your herb blend. If you are allergic to any of the components, please feel free to substitute other herbs or crystals with calmative properties.

🎵 Music in Witchcraft 🎵
Tumblr media
I love music. More and more, I have been including music in my practice of witchcraft, simply by having a song in the background while cleansing or making kitchen magic, and singing or humming particular melodies in the shower, when I perform a spell or a ritual, etc. If you’re interested in music witchcraft, here are a few ideas to get you started.
🎵 Singing out loud is a really powerful practice that can help when performing difficult spells, or rituals that are energy-draining.
🎵 If you’re uncomfortable with singing, humming a melody is a good alternative. I love humming a simple, happy song while cleansing my home.
🎵 Charge your crystals, magical items and plants with soothing, dramatic and strengthening music.
🎵 If you can play any instrument, include them in your practice - by playing before, during or after your daily practice, for instance.
🎵 Sound playlists have their own power, especially if you’re working with the 4 elements:
🌱 Earth: listen to forest and nature sounds
🔥 Fire: listen to fire crackling
🌪️ Air: listen to birds chirping
🌊 Water: listen to ocean sounds and waves
🎵 Make very specific playlists on Spotify ; e.g. “Songs to dance around in your room by yourself”, or “Songs to listen when you’re angry about the world”. Having songs that reflect your feelings will be incredibly useful and can make you feel less alone in your happiness / or in your pain.
🎵 Bring back your inner child by listening to nostalgic playlists of songs that came out when you were 5, 10, 15 years old.
Here’s a great Spotify playlist with witchy music, if you’re interested.

Celtic Astrology
Celtic astrology is one of many types of astrology. It is based around the cycles of the moon. The year is divided into thirteen lunar cycles. Each cycle is assigned a different tree that has special qualities that are also found in the people born under that lunar cycle. Which one are you?
Birch (The Achiever) - Born December 24 to January 20. Driven, ambitious, motivated. You are good with leadership positions and are resilient and level-headed.
Rowan (The Thinker) -  Born January 21 to February 17. Philosophical, creative, passionate. You are influential and often provide unique perspectives on situations. You are able to look at things from many angles and are very creative.
Ash (The Enchanter) - Born February 18 to March 17. Imaginative, intuitive and artistic. You kind of live in your own world. You are inspired by the world around you, especially nature. You may sometimes experience mood swings and are considered elusive to those around you.
Alder (The Trailblazer) - Born March 18 to April 14. You are somewhat of a social chameleon, you are loved by the people around you and are always changing things up. You are motivated and on a mission to find your path.
Willow (The Observer) - Born April 15 to May 12. You are ruled by the moon. You are very creative, intuitive and intelligent. You may even demonstrate psychic abilities. You are more patient then most and are very realistic. You have a good understanding or enjoy understanding the world around you. You have great potential but often find yourself trapped by feeling like you might appear to be overindulgent and extravagant.
Hawthorn (The Illusionist) - Born May 13 to June 9. You are never what you appear to be. You might appear to be an average person but you are actually incredibly passionate and creative. You adapt to situations easily, are very curious and often have great insight.

Vine (The Equalizer) - Born September 2 to September 29. You are unpredictable and indecisive. You have difficulty picking sides when presented with a choice or argument. You enjoy the finer things in life and have a taste for luxury and refined items.
Ivy (The Survivor) - Born September 30 to October 27. You are compassionate and loyal and have a strong ability to overcome hardships. You are generous and loyal to your faith/values. You are able to manage social settings well and are very generous.

Sun Sign
Your sun sign is best described as your answer to the question, “Who are you?” It is your personality and character traits, at least your most prominent ones. That being said, all of your signs are meant to tell you about yourself and they should all be read in context. Science is important.
I love spirituality, I love witchcraft, but we need to make something very clear.
Science and medicine cannot and will not ever be something that witchcraft can replace.
You still need to get vaccinated.
You still need to go to your therapist.
You still need to get antibiotics.
You still need your cancer treatments.
You still need your check ups.
You still need to believe scientists.
Do not fall into the trap that witchcraft will cure physical illnesses like Covid, diabetes, fibromyalgia, or anything else like that. It will not, and you need to take care of yourself.
