Campaign 2 episode 92/Campaign 3 episode 92 parallels (with some assistance from 3x89)
Transcription of the text in the above images (screenshots from the Critical Role Transcript Search) below the cut:
The following is excerpts from Campaign 2, Episode 92, and Campaign 3 Episode 92 (except one from 89, noted below), interspersed. Travis is playing Fjord, Marisha is playing Beau, Laura is playing Imogen, Liam is playing Orym, and Matt plays Thoreau Lionett in the Campaign 2 excerpt and Liliana Temult in the Campaign 3 excerpt:
First image:
TRAVIS: Your histamine reactions are going again.
MARISHA: Yeah. I've been away from Zadash for a little bit, so the pollen, it's kicking a little, you know?
TRAVIS: I take it you don't fully, fully hate your dad. It's got to be hard to hear this.
Second image:
LAURA: I'm going to heard toward Orym who's at a distance and approach slowly.
LIAM: Hey.
LAURA: Hi. I'm going to put my hand on your shoulder.
LIAM: Sorry, I know how hard all that is for you.
Third image:
MARISHA: Everyone wants to make their dad proud, you know? Just hoping he could, he could show some of that.
TRAVIS: You don't know that he can't. It's been years. You've grown, you've changed. I'm sure you were even more of an unbearable shit before. I'm not saying he deserves a second chance, but he is your father, and you do have a mother, and a brother that you've never met.
MARISHA: (sniffs) I guess it's hard when... the word inevitable has been brought up several times in the past 24 hours amongst us. I feel like I've found my family with The Mighty Nein. I don't like looking at my past, because it doesn't have The Mighty Nein in it, and I think I put off the inevitable, because I'm going to-- I'm afraid it's going to be like my past.
Fourth image:
LAURA: Don't apologize. I can't begin to understand how hard it is for you.
LIAM: You know, every one of us makes our decisions with the lenses or prisms we see life through.
LAURA: Mm-hmm.
LIAM: I can't take mine down. (sobs softly) It's not even about revenge for me. (sniffles) I just try and honor what they sign up to do. (sniffles) I just try and honor what they sign up to do.
LAURA: I didn't know them, but I can't imagine they wouldn't look at you and not be proud.
LIAM: (sighs sadly)
LAURA: I think you've gone farther than anyone could ever expect you to, and you're still going.
Fifth image:
TRAVIS: I don't think one contaminates the other. You've got good, solid footing here. I mean, shit, if we want to run, we run. If we want to kick his ass, we'll kick his ass.
MARISHA: Yeah. (sniffing) I kind of want to kick his ass, and I don't want to run.
TRAVIS: Could I ask you, in your wildest dreams, and feel free to say you don't want to tell me, what would you have happen when we go there?
MARISHA: I think I've worked so hard because I scripted this day, in my inevitable future that I would go back to him, successful woman, respectable member of society, Cobalt Soul, an Expositor, the thing he threw me away to, and I embraced. And then, I would get mad at myself, because I felt like I was doing exactly what he was doing to me my entire life, scripting me to be something else. And I'm still doing it. I haven't seen him in three years, and I'm still trying to be... something. And I think what's scary is that I like this, and what I've found, and I don't think it was until Nott started talking about having to go home and go away that it truly started terrifying me. Because for the first time, I'm happy. And what if that goes away?
Sixth image:
LIAM: (sighs softly) (sniffles) So far. I'm going to miss him.
LAURA: Yeah. Yeah.
LIAM: I'm going to miss Letters.
(sniffles)
LAURA: They were-- They were alive.
LIAM: Out of any of us, he just wanted to help.
Seventh image:
TRAVIS: It could always go away. It could go away tonight. The Gentleman's debtors could come calling.
MARISHA: (chuckling) And I think I know that, and I think I say things to Nott like, "You don't have to put those stipulations on yourself" because I've convinced myself that destiny or the inevitability won't come knocking. If you ignore it, it won't exist, and that's not true.
TRAVIS: (sighs) It'll be interesting either way. Your face is leaking.
MARISHA: I hate it.
TRAVIS: I won't tell anyone.
MARISHA: Don't tell anybody.
TRAVIS: Yep. You're a good friend. You're a good trainer.
Eighth image:
LAURA: I want you to know that that for a while it may have felt that you and I were not seeing eye to eye or maybe you felt that I, I didn't have the same goal in mind that you did. But don't worry about that anymore, all right?
LIAM: I understand family.
LAURA: Yeah. Yeah.
LIAM: I want for all the world for you to have your family.
LAURA: I wanted that, too, and (chuckles) god, that back and forth is a pretty funny thing, but choices were made. If nothing else, then at least we've got a little bit of knowledge on the inside now.
LIAM: Yeah. As much we'd like to, you can't turn back the clock.
LAURA: That's right. But you've got us.
Bonus image 1:
MARISHA: Mom already fucking mentioned that life gets difficult and it's hard. So you're right. Maybe it's easy to justify the easy way out, just get rid of the problem.
MATT: "That's not what this was about. You were on the self-destructive path. We didn't know what to do. I've never been a-- no one teaches you how to be a good father. I regret choices I've made, and you don't think I don't hold myself responsible for-- I thought I was doing what was best for you, truly."
MARISHA: You did. It was probably the best thing you could've done for me. So thank you. Tell me the story again, and then I'll go.
Bonus image 2 (from 3x89):
MATT: "History is filled with evil men. But few have the courage to stand up and try and stop them. Where I'm standing, I don't think we're on the opposing sides like you think we are. We just have a different myth, that's all. That's all. Please see it in yourself to understand why I've done and given up all of this."
LAURA: Maybe it's your turn to run. And I wake up.

Grand Gesture | eddie munson
Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: catching feelings for your best friend was never in your plans. when you start distancing yourself from him to protect your heart, eddie vows to do everything in his power to keep it forever.
Tumblr media
“Come over for dinner tonight?” Eddie asks, trying to sound natural but maybe not being quite successful. “Wayne misses you, you know.”
It's a lie and he knows it — not that Wayne doesn't like you, far from it, but Eddie is painfully aware he's the one who misses you the most. He feels like a part of him is missing. His uncle, on the other hand, is a man of actions more than a man of words, and judging by the way he always ordered your favorite pizza flavor when you'd come visit Eddie, or how he'd give an understanding smile whenever Eddie did so much as mention your name, it was safe to say he considered you as much family as he did Eddie himself.
But that was before. Eddie now has to be quick if he wants to talk to you between classes. Most of the time you're no more than a blur to him — the ghost of his childhood best friend.
You look up at him very quickly — as if your eyes would burn if your gaze lingered too long, even — and you shove some books out of your backpack into the locker with little care. You smile, but Eddie knows all of your genuine smiles and this isn't one of them.
“Uh, well, I can't today,” you say. "Sorry."
"Tomorrow?"
"Busy too."
You seem to be calculating an escape route as you look down the hall. Eddie feels terribly pathetic when he asks again, "What about next week?"
“I have a test next week, I'll have to study.”
“Oh,” is all he manages to say.
Eddie doesn't remember any tests happening the following week. He twirls a ring around his finger nervously and tries to convince himself that it might be from a class of yours that he doesn't attend.
“Thanks for inviting me anyway," you close the locker and smile that same smile that doesn't quite reach your eyes. "Say hi to Wayne for me, okay?”
“...sure.”
You're leaving once more. Eddie feels panic rising in his throat, swallows hard, and says, before he can stop himself, "You're still going to The Hideout on Tuesday, right?"
Tuesday. It was something you and him had agreed on a while ago; Corroded Coffin played at The Hideout every Tuesday and most Tuesdays you'd go see them, but if you couldn't make it every time, the deal was that you'd go at least once a month. And you hadn't been there for the last three Tuesdays, which made this your last chance to keep your promise.
You look over your shoulder at Eddie, saying, "I'll try." And wave before rushing off to your next class without looking back.
He immediately knows you won't come; it's remarkable how much distance you've managed to put between the two of you in such a short amount of time.
On the other hand, you know you can't go to The Hideout on Tuesday.
Not because you have an appointment you can't reschedule or because you've already made plans you don't want to miss…but because being in love with your best friend feels awfully like getting a thorn into your foot. You could go weeks without seeing him, slowly forgetting the thorn was there…and then you'd just spend 2 minutes with Eddie and the damn thing would re-enter your skin three times deeper.
So no, you can't go to The Hideout on Tuesday, you decide. Watching Eddie play guitar wouldn't do you any good.
And you don't go. Not this Tuesday, not the next, not the one after that. Time goes by too fast but somehow the days seem to drag on terribly. And then days become weeks, weeks become months. Well, month, singular, but Eddie feels like he's lived a lifetime during the time you're not talking to him. It certainly feels like months.
36 days. Not that the two of you are counting. Definitely not.
Eddie is sitting on his throne in the middle of a Hellfire session, babbling his lines and running the campaign almost robotically, when he thinks of you again. The Eddie from before, the Eddie who still had you in his life, would have been ecstatic as he awaited the day to share this campaign with his little sheep around this very table. Now he's having trouble keeping track of what's going on.
He remembers the general idea; a curse, some monsters, an object capable of saving the world that lies in the power of a female elf the party has to find and convince to help. Yada, yada.
It's the third time he's lost himself inside his own head.
"Dude!"
Eddie looks at Dustin as if he's just been slapped. "What?"
“You're being ridiculous. Just talk to her."
"How dare you-"
Dustin realizes Eddie is about to go on a rant about getting out of character mid-session. He's not sure where all this courage is coming from (maybe it comes from the fact that he really cares about his Dungeon Master's happiness) but Dustin reaches out and lowers the screen in front of Eddie.
“You gotta go find your elf, man,” he says, encouraged by the murmurs of agreement rising from the others in the room. "Like, right now. Looks like your world is coming to an end.”
Eddie has an answer on the tip of his tongue as he looks from face to face and back to Dustin's.
"I'm the Dungeon Master here, Henderson." He doesn't care if he sounds defensive or silly or if the other boys will realize he's purposely pretending not to understand what his friend means. He doesn't care in the least.
“Oh, for God's sake,” insists Dustin, apparently the group's representative now that the subject is Eddie's personal life. "You know very well I'm talking about her."
Eddie makes a move to lift the dungeon master screen once again in hopes of ending the conversation. Dustin pulls it out of his grasp with little care.
"I have no idea what the hell you're talking about."
“You should go after her, man,” suggests Lucas, very quietly.
“Yeah,” Mike agrees, working up the courage to say something when Eddie doesn't say anything. “Believe me, it took some time to figure out my feelings for El, too. But at least I got it at some point, you know.”
“A grand gesture is what you need,” Lucas adds with newfound confidence. "It's what I do when Max doesn't want to talk to me."
He cowers slightly when Eddie looks at him, an appraising brow raised. Dustin is nodding his head emphatically in agreement, though.
“We want our Dungeon Master back,” Gareth says, trying to lighten the mood.
There is a silence that seems to last for years. Then, not quite realizing what he's doing, Eddie stands up, nearly toppling his throne in the process, and pretty much jumps toward the door.
Behind him, the boys shout words of encouragement and whistle with exaggerated excitement.
Grand gesture, huh?
Tumblr media
"You should ask Eddie to go to the movies with you."
"Mom," you scold for what feels like the hundredth time tonight, helping her into her coat.
"I just don't like leaving you home alone."
"I'll be fine. I'm practically an adult now."
Of course, you are. The discussion is not about that and you know it. She knows it. But none of you say anything. This conversation has played out several times in many different ways over the past thirty days, and it doesn't look like she's going to stop insisting anytime soon.
Your mother gives you her best puppy dog eyes. "Are you really going to be okay?"
"Yes, yes!" You emphasize, gently pushing her out the front door and smiling as convincingly as you can. "I swear I will. Now go have fun!"
She smiles and kisses the top of your head affectionately.
"Lock the door behind me, okay?"
You do. But you might as well have left the damn thing open, because two minutes after you lock it and just a second after you sit down on the couch, you hear a knock.
You run to the door, key in hand.
"Mom, did you forget something agai-"
But it's not your mom.
"Eddie," you mumble, voice barely a whisper.
It shouldn't be possible, but he's right there in front of you, hands in his pockets as he looks at your face with a nervous smile.
"Hi," he says, voice husky and warm just as you remember.
You feel like your heart is about to find its way out of your rib cage somehow.
Clearing your throat, you finally find your voice. "Aren't you supposed to be at Hellfire?" you ask.
"I left halfway through the session," he says, as if that explains everything. Eddie Ditching Hellfire? When you don't say anything else, standing there looking like you want to slam the door in his face, Eddie quickly adds, "Can I come in?"
"I don't think it's a good idea."
"We need to talk."
"It's not a good time," you say without looking at him, a little upset because, damn, how are you supposed to forget a guy who keeps showing up?
You start to close the door slowly, almost without realizing you're doing it.
Eddie puts his foot in the gap to stop you.
"Please," he begs. "Ten minutes?"
No, no, no. Say no.
Cursing inwardly, you step back and let him in. "Five."
You gesture for him to sit around the small kitchen table and lean against the counter, keeping a safe distance from him, your arms crossed tightly in front of your chest.
You ask him if he'd like something to eat or drink and he denies, hating how he's become a guest at your place, an outsider, someone you no longer have that familiar intimacy with.
You're staring at the floor like it's the most interesting thing you'd ever laid eyes on. "What did you want to talk about?" you ask.
Eddie places both hands on the table, twirling the rings around his fingers anxiously.
"I want…I need to…." he licks his lips and looks at your face, trying to turn thoughts into words and not understanding why it's suddenly so difficult to do so. "Why do you suddenly hate me?"
You can't say you didn't expect to hear a question like this at some point. That doesn't mean you don't get slightly lost when you actually hear it, though.
"I don't hate you, Eddie."
"You didn't talk to me in weeks, you didn't come to see my band," he holds up a finger as he points out each of your actions, "you run the other way whenever you see me in the school hallways…"
His gaze diverts to the space beside you.
“Christ, you even ripped our picture out of your fridge, apparently,” he lets out a completely humorless chuckle, a hint of sadness behind the irony you know all too well.
You look into the empty space he's indicating and suddenly feel guilty. A picture of the two of you the first night Eddie played at the Hideout with the band used to be there.
"I don't hate you," you repeat, silly. "I'd never hate you."
"You don't even look at me."
"Of course I do." You weren't looking until now, but you force yourself to do so even though it's hard. There's something very intimate about looking Eddie in the eyes, you think, something awfully familiar. "I'm looking at you right now."
"Yeah. For 2 seconds, I bet."
You shift your weight from one foot to the other, take a deep breath, and try to keep your thoughts clear.
"Did you come all the way here to tell me to look at you?"
"No," he says. "I came all the way here to say I miss you."
A very long time passes without you saying anything, your chest rising and falling faster than usual. Eddie realizes he's surprised you.
A spark of happiness you shouldn't feel warms your heart. You try to smother it.
In a small voice, he insists, "Don't you miss me?"
Your heart screams yes, but you don't say anything. Eddie stands up, the sound of the chair scraping against the floor sounding alarming to your ears.
“We've been friends for…what? Twelve years? And you're going to tell me that you've simply decided that you don't like my company now?”
“Eddie,” you finally say. "Stop."
You uncross your arms, using your hands to lean against the kitchen counter behind you instead, fighting the urge to run. Whether in Eddie's direction or the opposite, you're still unsure.
"Why? So you can go back to erasing me from your life again without saying anything?” he asks, putting the chair back in place before moving towards you. “You can say it to my face, then. Say you hate me.”
"I don't hate you."
"You certainly don't like me."
"I-"
“Or think of me.”
“I never said-”
"If you tell me to leave now, I swear I will and I won't come back," he promises and you know it's true. But then, slower, lighter, almost whispering, he adds, “…but that's not what I want.”
You should tell him to go away, to leave. You know he won't give up if you don't tell him to do so, but you can't bring yourself to be cruel to him, not even to protect your own heart.
So instead, the spark of hope becomes a flame inside your chest and you find yourself asking, “And what do you want?”
For a good five seconds, Eddie looks at you like he's facing a crossroads. Then he comes closer and places his hands over yours, one on either side of you, any definition of personal space momentarily forgotten as he moves his face closer to yours.
“I want…,” he begins, and it's thanks to the way you can feel each word that leaves his lips that you're made aware of how close you are, that you're between him and the kitchen counter. That he's about to kiss you. “I want to-”
His forehead rests against yours, his eyes slowly fluttering closed. The words he wants to say never make it past his mouth.
He is about to kiss you, right?
“Eddie-”
Eddie leans back just enough to consider the expression on your face, eyes big and brown and warm.
"You want me to go?" he whispers.
“No,” you're not surprised at how quickly you respond. Your hand slips from under his to brush a dark curl out of his eyes. "I broke our promise, though."
"It's okay."
He leans in. You feel his lips at the corner of your mouth and let out a sigh. "I'm sorry. I'll go to every single one of your gigs from now on-"
“Please,” he begs, a distinct hint of affection behind his words. "Stop talking."
"What you're doing?"
His upper lip touches yours. You can feel his reluctant smile when he says, “A grand gesture, I hope.”
And then, Eddie closes the gap — your breath catches the very moment his mouth meets yours, his kiss gentle, slow, a step too big to be taken all at once. He leans in and you feel his chest against yours, one hand sliding to the small of your back and pressing you even closer, another moving up your arm, over your shoulder, to the crook of your neck and your jaw. He holds your face and you sigh against his mouth, your lips parted invitation enough for him to deepen the kiss.
And God, being kissed like this does feel like a grand gesture.
He tastes exactly like you thought he would and somehow entirely different at the same time — something familiar, something safe, but also something new and fiery and wonderful.
You're breathing heavily — Eddie not much different — when he finally breaks the kiss, resting his forehead against yours, eyes still closed.
“Tell me to stay,” he whispers. In the silence of the empty house, it's more than enough. “Please tell me you want me to stay, sweetheart, 'cause I have no fucking idea how to stay away from you.”
You're still coming to your senses, all too aware of the hand he keeps tightly on your waist, of the gentle movement of his calloused thumb against your cheek.
You wrap your arms around his neck and smile the most genuine smile he's ever seen on your face.
“As if I’d ever let you go after this, Munson.”

———————
Another fun evening was had at Hellfire Club, and you & Eddie were ready to wind down at your place. He dropped some of the other members off at home first, and your house was the last stop on his tour. Eddie had been your close friend since you were eight and he was ten, and you did everything together: D&D, drama club at school, drugs, booze, you name it. Every chance you got, the two of you were always together—usually getting into some drug- or booze-induced shenanigans. When you weren’t doing that, you were doing the exact thing you were doing tonight, which was going home to chill out together on the couch or in your room.
You loved being around Eddie, and it far exceeded just friendship for you. The thing was, you had always harbored a little crush on him, from the moment you’d met him all those years ago. In fact, for the last few years, that crush had turned into all-out love. He didn’t know, of course; you would rather gouge your own eyes out with a hot poker than ever tell him and risk losing him.
You & Eddie sat in your living room, with the TV on and drinking beer that Eddie had smuggled into the house. There was a show that neither of you were paying attention to, some kind of weird sitcom that was neither of your tastes. You were sitting close together, as usual, practically cuddling as you mindlessly took in the show and drank. Your parents were upstairs, probably in bed or watching TV themselves, but they didn’t come down to greet you when they heard you return home. Since their car was outside, it told you they probably turned in for the night. That left you & Eddie completely alone, which could be either a good or bad thing, depending on the mood the two of you got into.
Things started off innocently enough. The two of you discussed the new campaign, how your classes were going, what your weekend plans were, all the usual topics. You were digging around your chest almost the entire time, trying to fix the discomfort that your bra was causing. It always annoyed you to wear one, but you had to; without it, your nipple piercings were going to be extremely noticeable, and you couldn’t have that in school. Nothing helped, and short of taking it off, you had no relief whatsoever. But it was becoming ever clearer that removing it is exactly what needed to be done, with no other choices available.
Eddie is in the middle of talking about his favorite part of the campaign when you do it. You unclasp the bra under your shirt, sliding your arms into the sleeves to remove the straps, before pulling it from the bottom of your shirt. Eddie stops talking and watches you closely, his doe eyes wide in surprise as he sees the bra land on the coffee table. His eyes trail back to you, but they don’t find your face again. They are transfixed on your chest, and on the unmistakable impressions of nipple piercings that are pressing against the fabric of your Hellfire Club shirt. He swallows thickly, running a hand over his cheek as he tries so hard to look away. You chuckle, unable to help it, and he turns his gaze with a light blush dusting his cheeks.
“It’s okay if you noticed,” you say. “They’re kinda hard to miss when they aren’t in the bra.”
“I…” he says, swallowing again as he finds your eyes. “I didn’t mean to seem like some kind of fucking perv. I guess I'm just more surprised than anything else. Why didn’t you ever tell me that you got them pierced?”
“I guess I didn’t think it was that big of a deal,” you say, glancing at your chest. “I haven’t had them pierced for long. They’ve healed nicely, but sometimes they’re still a little sore.”
“Well, they seem very….um….” Eddie began, and you could tell that he was clearly flustered. “They seem nice. Probably got someone good to pierce them, huh? I hear those can be really hard to do.”
“Yeah, the guy who pierced them did a good job,” you say, and you can sense a shift in Eddie at the mention of another man. His jaw and fists clench, and he looks to the floor. You laugh, reaching over to run your fingers through his hair. “Aw, what’s the matter, Eddie? Are you jealous that another guy got to see my tits?”
“No,” he says, but he’s lying. You can always tell; after ten years of friendship, it wasn’t as if he could fool you. “I’m not.”
“Mmm hmm,” you say, then teasingly add: “You know, I’ll let you see them, if you want to.”
Eddie nearly chokes on the drink of beer he had just taken, and wipes his mouth on the back of his hand after thumping his chest. “Sorry, but I’m going to need you to repeat that. I need to make sure I heard you correctly.”
“I said,” you repeat, brushing some hair back from his shoulder before ghosting those fingertips over his neck, “you can see the piercings, if you want to.”
“I don’t want it to be weird,” Eddie says, looking at you and leaning closer into your touch. “Will it be weird?”
“Only if you make it weird,” you say, your hand on the back of his neck and tangling into his hair. “It’s just boobs, Eddie. I’m sure you’ve seen your fair share.”
“Well, yeah,” Eddie says with a soft smile. “But these are yours. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying no. As long as you swear this won’t ruin anything between us, or make it awkward.”
“I don’t think it will,” you say, reaching for the hem of your shirt and slowly lifting it. “You can always change your mind before I get it hiked up, though. Tell me if you do, okay?”
He nods quickly, pulling the corner of his lip into his teeth. You keep moving the shirt up little by little, until your breasts are fully exposed to him. Eddie sucks in a breath, his eyes unable to leave them. He took in the shape of them, the way your nipples looked, and how the piercings gleamed in the lamplight of the living room. His breath caught, and he exhaled in the form of a shaky “fuck.” You laugh a little, biting your own lip as you watch him admiring your chest. You can tell that he’s enjoying it, and that whatever worries he had about this being awkward were long gone. In the front of his jeans, you could see the unmistakable outline of a forming erection.
“What do you think?” you ask, smirking.
“They look fantastic,” Eddie says, his eyes still taking in your breasts. “And I guess the piercings are nice, too.”
You laugh a little louder at that, and feel even more boldness coming over you. “Do you wanna touch them? You can, if you want to; I won’t mind.”
Eddie’s eyes flickered to your face, and they widened again. “I can?”
“Sure,” you say, taking one of his hands in your free one. “Here. I’ll show you that I’m not kidding.”
You place his hand over your right breast, and he hisses at the contact with your skin. His lips part, his brown eyes already filling with lust as he kneads experimentally on your skin. You whimper pleasurably under his rough palm, feeling a rush of heat in your cunt as a response. He mewls softly, taking his other hand and placing it on the opposite breast. He ghosts his thumbs over the nipples, against the piercings and your sensitive skin, and you cry out at the touch. Ever since getting them pierced, the sensitivity in them had increased tenfold, and that little brush of his thumbs nearly had you up the wall with pleasure.
“Eddie…” you sigh, squeezing your thighs together to dull the throbbing ache that was settling between them.
“Are you okay?” he asks, looking at you worriedly. “Do you need me to stop?”
“God, no,” you say with a breathless chuckle. “Please don’t stop.”
He gives them a light pinch, and when he sees you reacting positively, he does it a little harder. You grab onto his arm, moaning and biting your lip to quiet yourself a little. The last thing you needed was for one or both of your parents to hear, and come down to investigate. Eddie massages circles onto your nipples, before cupping your tits and pressing them together, massaging them, and bringing his face close to them. He looks up at you through bangs and lashes, smirking as he does so. His lips travel from your breastbone to your stomach, and then back up, his eyes never leaving you for a moment. More wetness starts pooling in your panties, and they cling to you as his soft, plump lips continue pressing your skin.
“You know,” he says, nuzzling his way between your breasts before leaving hard, open mouthed kisses on your sternum. You tangle a hand in his hair, head tipped back as you moan hotly. “Not trying to sound like a creep, but I always knew you had some amazing fucking tits.”
You laugh, and that boldness from before takes over again. “Oh yeah? Well, I always thought your dick would look fucking amazing pressed between them, or just rubbing on them, or a combination of both. Whatever you would prefer.”
He shivers violently at that, groaning against your skin. “Fuck, y/n…”
He wraps the tip of his tongue around one nipple, still looking at you as he does so. You meet his gaze with a shiver, pushing some hair from his eyes as his tongue swirls the metal of the piercing. “I’ll bet you would love to cum all over them, wouldn’t you? Seeing me with it all over my tits, maybe even on my chin and tongue if you’re the type of guy who can really shoot one off.”
“Jesus, that’s…” Eddie breathes, giving your other nipple the same treatment. “That’s hot as shit.”
“Wanna do it?” you ask, and he shivers again. You can feel his cock, hard and throbbing in his pants, against your leg. “I think you do; the thought of it is getting you rock. Fucking. Hard. Isn’t it?”
“Yes, fuck,” Eddie hisses, pulling your nipple between his lips and sucking rapidly. He tugs it in his teeth, and you moan loudly, clamping your lips shut to keep silent. He toys with the other one, two fingers pinching the nipple & playing with the piercing. He draws back to look up at you, one hand settling on your waist as he tries to pull you closer to his body. “How does it feel? Does it still feel good?”
“Mmm hmm,” you breathe, grinning at him. “It feels so good, Eddie. You wanna know how good?”
“Yeah,” he says with a quick nod as he moves over to the other nipple for equal treatment.
“I’m so wet right now,” you say, your nails grazing his scalp as your hand deeply embeds in his long brown hair. “Mmm…I really want you to see just how fucking wet.”
“Please, let me see,” he practically whines, his lips pressing all over your chest in desperation as he ruts against your thigh. “Or let me touch you, or anything you want. Please, fuck…”
“Hang on,” you say, unbuttoning your pants and taking his hand. You guide it inside your drenched panties, where he groans at the feeling of your warm, wet pussy. “Feel that? You’re doing that to me, Eddie. It’s all you.”
“Goddammit,” he breathes, bucking himself harder against your leg with a low moan. He circles a finger around your entrance, before moving to your clit. You shiver and mewl as he rubs circles against the small bundle of nerves, head falling back again. He rapidly flicks his tongue over one of the piercings, before pressing the tip of his finger inside of you as an experiment. “I’ll bet your pussy tastes fucking incredible, and I’ll also bet that you would feel good squeezing around my cock.”
You groan filthily at his touch, chuckling as his free hand plays with your breast. You pull his head up by his hair, gazing into his eyes for a moment before kissing along his cheek, his jaw, and finally reaching his ear. Your teeth tug the lobe, a smirk on your lips as you whisper: “Why don’t you take me upstairs and find out?”

Something I just noticed and really enjoy about Campaign 1 is how often their story involves becoming incredibly powerful and accomplishing so much and yet still not being able to do what's truly important to them. It's not only the gutpunch of the final episode, it's a thematic underpinning throughout the campaign.
Way back in their prestream adventures, the party was strong enough to defeat the Dread Emperor and save all the kidnapped children from Tal'Dorei—except one, a child Keyleth killed by accident, an act which haunts her through at least much of the early campaign. The party defeats the Briarwoods and reclaims Whitestone, but Ripley still escapes and 19 still misses, and the Chroma Conclave raze half the continent. Percy has great intellect and access to a powerful magical amplifier and forced out a demon through sheer force of will, but his carelessness still killed Vex and he only rolls a 6 to try to save her. The party has slain a dragon and is armed with four Vestiges of Divergence, but they couldn't save Tiberius and can't even give him the proper burial they want to. They brutally slaughter Ripley, but not before she gets the revenge she wants; she kills Percy, sending him to Orthax, and spreads guns throughout Exandria. The Conclave is slain, the whole party made it out alive, but Scanlan is forever scarred by the experience and leaves, tearing the party down as he goes. Even Vilya, prior to the campaign's beginning, was at the very end of her Aramente, likely a level 16-17 druid like Keyleth was, and still failed the trial of the Water Plane and was gone for almost 40 years.
And of course, Vox Machina became some of the most powerful people in the world, slayers of a god, legends to be immortalized for centuries...and none of their power could save their brother.
Percy points out to Bell's Hells, thirty years later, that fate isn't always kind and not everyone gets a second chance, and to me that's underscored by what we don't see. Elaina is still dead. Juniper is still dead. Percy's parents and five siblings are all still dead.
I mean, if any or all of their bodies are intact, it wouldn't even require True Resurrection to bring them back—not that Keyleth or Percy are averse to a little heresy, but hey, conserve your resources. If there are bodies, all they'd need is 7th-level Resurrection; none of those people have been dead for over a century, and if they need to find the bodies, well, Vex has Locate Object and Pike gets a Divine Intervention freebie once a week, right? Even if they did need True Resurrection, it's a heftier cost but probably not something too difficult to pay over time for one of the wealthiest families in the world.
But none of them have ever done that, nor do we get an indication that they've pursued it. Vox Machina is, probably more than any other CR party, defined by grief—how individual PCs respond to their own profound losses; how they succeed and fail to shoulder each others' burdens; and at the end of their story, how they deal with one of the most painful losses imaginable, and how they move forward and find peace in spite of it. Campaign 1 is just as much about how to deal with what you couldn't do as it is about what you now can do.

Honest question from someone who also dislikes "invasive species control that amounts to kill on sight": what do you suggest as an alternative control effort should I encounter say a spotted lanternfly or a spongy moth? I really hate just killing bugs for being in the wrong place. Thanks!
i honestly don't think there is much that any individual person can do. like in general once an exotic species has established in an area there's almost nothing short of a fast and concerted multimillion dollar years-long eradication program that even stands a chance of actually removing them entirely. and this is a rant for another day but generally nobody wants to pay for the kind of program that stands an actual chance of being successful. it doesn't matter how many concerned citizens you convince to go around smashing animals, if even a handful get missed, and many many more than a handful will get missed, the survivors can lay enough eggs and rapidly enough that the population will have no trouble rebounding. the way to eradicate an invasive species, when it's even possible, is through very strategic and large-scale application of pesticides, environmental control, parasitoids, and other integrated pest management strategies.
and that's not even mentioning that the whole smash-on-sight thing requires people to recognize the target and not just smash every bug they see which is also another rant for another day because you would not fucking believe how bad people are at identifying insects like i've had fucking crane flies reported as "murder hornets" (another rant). i genuinely believe that entomology should be a core primary and secondary education subject alongside history and math. the world is mostly bugs and it's important to know at least a little about them. without mass knowledge, the whole campaign just engenders a further generalized fear and disgust and violence towards all insects which is fucking nasty to me.
anyway i'm getting distracted. back to your question, what should you do if you encounter a spotted lanternfly or spongy moth or japanese beetle or whatever? report it to your state's department of agriculture if you live in the united states, or to whatever the equivalent is if you live elsewhere. chances are they're already aware of the infestation in your area but there's always the chance that they're not. with any luck they're one of the few ones that actually has the funding to operate a large-scale control program and are working on it already. again i'm very fatalistic about these things and don't think that eradication is possible in most cases by the time the exotic insect is discovered but at the very least it is often possible to keep the populations in check to the point that they're not an ecological/economic catastrophe using the IPM methods mentioned above--with enough funding. you can kill the bug if you want but smashing one bug or a dozen or a hundred or a thousand isn't going to do shit in the long run or the large scale and it's not the bug's fault that it is where it is.

Vox is soooo fucking hot dude
Vox as a regular romantic interest is pretty bad already, but as a yandere? He is insufferable. Of course, he will keep an eye on you wherever you go, even before you really meet him. I don't think Vox would use his powers to achieve his goal of pursuing you. It seems more that he would use it as a "last-didge" effort to secure you, but for that to occur Vox would have to be incompetent. He is anything but that.
You will fall for his charisma, his smooth voice that is so addicting to listen to, especially when he compliments you so well every chance he gets. Vox will make sure, whatever you see of him is nothing, but absolute perfection. Any show you watch starring him will be subtly be about how good of a partner he would be. A cook show where Vox creates your favourite meals. Another show talking about famous celebrities' relationships where Vox occasionally sprinkles in a "I don't know about you folks, but I can't imagine doing something like that!" when the relationship has some sort of drama to it.
I also imagine he would force some sort of meeting, assuming there is zero connection he and the other Vees have to you. Maybe he will make some low-life try robbing you and the 'oh-so' charming TV host Hell can't get enough of is there to save you. Maybe he just 'randomly' finds you sleeping in some alleyway, down on your luck, and he graciously offers you a job at his company. Or maybe he does an interview on Hell's population to see what their opinion is on the newest Voxtech.
Either way this man will find a way and have you fall for him. For the first few months he will even act the part of a loving and supportive partner. Over time though, Vox will change.
As usual Vox was monitoring the viewing charts as well as the money generated from the shows. Even though he was focused, he heard the elevator bringing someone up. No need to look, Vox knew who wanted to visit. "Hello babe," he said, still tapping away on the keyboard, "missed me that much, heh?" Giggling you hugged him from behind, "I can't hide anything from you, can I?" "No, you can't," Vox turned to you, kissing up your arm, "Mind helping me out a little here? I'm really tensed up and need some relaxing." You blush, pushing him back a little.
You wanted to tell him no, but he pulled you back with enough force to make you fall on his chair. He kissed your cheek. "Come on sweetheart, I've always been so good to you," Vox reminded you, static echoes scratchng his voice, "You should be more loving, you know." He was right. He was always so sweet to you and its time to repay the kindness. Even though it doesn't feel right, you will give in. You always will until it feels normal.
Once he knows you won't leave anymore, Vox will have outbursts in front of you. And because you are so used to his hot and cold attitude, you will find a weird mix of fear and attractiveness in his screams. Especially outbursts involving Alastor will be scary. Sometimes Vox forgets the position he is in and get rough with you. Of course, in instances like these he will apologise afterwards, but that might be the only times where the picture had so carefully painted crumbles.
If you ever decide to leave, Vox will know and put measurements to prevent it. It will be relatively successful, but once you're gone, Vox uses every available resource to secure you back. He will call everything just regular quarrel between lovers. The only sanctuary you might find is in the Hazbin Hotel, but this will lead to a smear campaign by Vox, so your stay is going to be questioned frequently.
Your chances of getting away from Vox are low and he will make sure, you realise he will forever be the better option in this godforsaken place, so be sweet and go to him willingly before he forces you to go.

New article with more details (from Jason Schreier who first broke the story). If you can't see it, I'll copy the whole text under read more.
About 100 employees were laid off in total (8%) and one of the main reasons listed is "underperformance," "sharp drop in popularity" and "poor reception of Lightfall."
So you know when for the last year and a half content creators have been shitting and pissing on the game as a full-time job and the amount of negativity and ragebait content became the only thing to make content about for them? Well they certainly won't take the blame, but I will let it be known. These people either don't understand the influence they have or they do and they're doing it on purpose, and I don't know which of these two options is worse, but I am 100% confident that their campaign of rage and hate contributed to this.
You don't base your entire community around constantly hating everything about the only game you play (despite clearly not enjoying it anymore) and somehow avoid galvanising thousands and thousands of people into perceiving the game negatively. Imagine being employees who have barely worked there for 2 years and the only community reception they've seen is 24/7 hate train for their work and then they get fired because of "poor reception" and "drop in popularity." How can they not take that personally? I am absolutely devastated for these people who delievered a banger product and who were met with an unrelenting barrage of toxic gamer children which ended up having more sway over their boss than them.
Which brings me to the next bit and that's FUCK THE CEO. He is now my mortal enemy #1. I am projecting psychic blasts directly into his brain. What an absolute spineless coward who is more willing to bow down to fucking gamers than to protect his own employees. This is absolutely rage inducing because this has happened before. From the article from 2021 about the toxic culture at Bungie:
Tumblr media
Reading this shit from the new article absolutely fucking sent me into blind rage because I immediately remembered this. Another instance of employees suffering because of comments on reddit. And because of toxic players. And proof that leadership is not protecting employees and is instead siding with players.
Match made in heaven. Asshole gamer content creators and asshole CEOs, all of whom sit at home on piles of money made from someone else's labour. I hope they all explode. None of the people that worked on this game deserve this.
Another article with an infuriating comment from the CEO:
In an internal town hall meeting addressing a Monday round of layoffs that impacted multiple departments, Bungie CEO Pete Parsons allegedly told remaining employees that the company had kept “the right people” to continue work on Destiny 2.
"Kept the right people." Really. Veteran composers weren't the right people? Die!
Bloomberg article in full:
Bungie’s decision to cut an estimated 100 jobs from its staff of about 1,200 followed dire management warnings earlier this month of a sharp drop in the popularity of its flagship video game Destiny 2. Just two weeks ago, executives at the Sony-owned game developer told employees that revenue was running 45% below projections for the year, according to people who attended the meeting. Chief Executive Officer Pete Parsons pinned the big miss on weak player retention for Destiny 2, which has faced a poor reception since the release of its latest expansion, Lightfall. The next expansion, The Final Shape, was getting good — not great feedback — and management told those present that they planned to push back the release to June 2024 from February, according the people, who asked not to be identified because they weren’t authorized to speak publicly. The additional time would give developers a chance to improve the product. In the meantime, Parsons told staff Bungie would be cutting costs, such as for travel, as well as implementing salary and hiring freezes, the people said. Everyone would have to work together to weather the storm, he said, leaving employees feeling determined to do whatever was needed to get revenue back up. But on Monday morning the news got worse: Dozens of staffers woke up to mysterious 15-minute meetings that had been placed on their calendars, which they soon learned were part of a mass layoff. Bungie laid off around 8% of its employees, according to documentation reviewed by Bloomberg. Bungie didn’t respond to requests for comment. Employees who were let go will receive at least three months of severance and three months of Bungie-paid COBRA health insurance, although other benefits, such as expense reimbursements, ended Monday, sending some staff racing to submit their receipts. Laid-off staffers will also receive prorated bonuses, although those who were on a vesting schedule following Sony Group Corp.’s acquisition of Bungie in January 2022 will lose any shares that weren’t vested as of next month. The layoffs are part of a larger money-saving initiative at Sony’s PlayStation unit, which has also cut employees at studios such as Naughty Dog, Media Molecule and its San Mateo office. TD Cowen analyst Doug Creutz wrote in a report Monday that “events over the last few days lead us to believe that PlayStation is undergoing a restructuring.” PlayStation president Jim Ryan announced last month that he plans to resign. Many of the layoffs at Bungie affected the company’s support departments, such as community management and publishing. Remaining Bungie staff were informed that some of those areas will be outsourced moving forward.
#destiny 2#bungie#long post#and like i don't care what's anyone's opinion on lightfall. it doesn't matter#the expansion is fine. there's some bad shit in there as there is in every expansion#literally nothing on this earth was so bad to deserve the amount of vitriol that lightfall got#it was purely motivated by hate and rage from people who have clearly lost their interest in the game a long time ago#no one else normal enough would respond even to a weaker expansion this way. and lightfall wasn't even weaker#literally nothing ever released in destiny deserves to have comments bad enough to end up affecting employees#there's been some bad expansions/dlcs/seasons. whatever. none of them were like... gollum level. not even close#people genuinely treated lightfall like it personally killed their dog. it was insane. the reaction to it was insane.#it stemmed from people who should have stopped playing a long time ago and stopped being content creators for one game#i can't even properly explain just how long and tireless the ragebait content campaign for destiny has been#opening youtube and seeing 10 videos in a row of just complaining and bitching#opening twitter and seeing thousands upon thousands of posts and comments dedicated solely to hating the game#imagine being an employee trying to maintain some communication with the community#hippy was relentlessly bullied by people I've seen suddenly lamenting that she was fired. you caused this#they will never accept even a miniscule portion of the blame for this ofc. they will just keep claiming they don't have that influence#but they do. it's been proven years ago. in the same way#community comments DO reach devs and community comments DO influence what happens to them and the game#'the event is bad' 'meta is bad' 'pvp is bad' 'raid is bad' 'story is bad' stop playing. no longer asking.#it's a video game. if you hate it stop playing. you don't have to justify it to hundreds of thousands of people and take them with you#especially when it leads to employees taking the fall#so to all content creators who are appalled and baffled after spending 2 years hating the game: you did this.#and to the ceo even more: explode into dust and be forgotten

It can’t all be bullshit Part 2
Read part 1 here
Eddie Munson x fem Reader x Steve Harrington (unfortunately no Steddie in this)
Summary: pinning after your best friend can be hard, especially when he doesn’t like you back. You were trying to get over a crush the last thing you needed was another.
AN: this is all I've written for the story, so I won't be as fast updating. Also, I'm sorry I write a lot for female-presenting readers it's just I find it easier to write it like that, especially with my dyslexia. However, if you guys want I can start reuploading the story with non-gender descriptions just might take it longer to edit it.
Warnings: Angst, use of Y/n, mention of break ups, miscommunication, sexual themes but no smut readers discretion is advised. Drug and alcohol use, and swearing.
word count 3.7kish
Tumblr media
Monday morning came around quickly, which you were glad about. The sooner you could get away from that awful weekend, the better. Eddie hadn’t remembered anything from that night, or if he did, he didn't mention it. You were also glad that you didn’t want another argument, and you definitely didn’t want details on his love life. Not that you hadn’t thought about it, your brain was too cruel to not make you dwell on it, you also thought about Harrington was he okay? Not that you cared about him of course just one human looking out for another. If you happen to be looking around to see if he made it to school that would be out of curiosity not because you cared. Thankfully his locker was near to yours so you would eventually see how he was, to be honest with how the gossip spreads in this school you would hear about it eventually if the king and queen of Hawkins really had broken up.
I don't hear anything about it until a week later at lunch. You were a little late as you had been stuck talking to your English teacher, Miss Plant, and you felt too rude to leave despite the rumbling in your stomach. As soon as you got to the table, a conversation began. “Do you reckon his head hurt?” Eddie joked. “Whose head?” you said while sitting in your seat beside Eddie. “The king when he fell from his throne”. You were beyond confused. Were they talking about a new campaign? You couldn't remember a king in your current D&D campaign. Maybe you had been too busy dazing at your leader at the meetings to notice if there was a new character. You didn't want to feel stupid, so you nodded like you understood. It wasn't until the conversation continued and you heard the mention of Nancy Wheeler you understood. You knew Eddie and Steve didn't like each other, but some of his words seemed too harsh. You saw what Harringtons' wrath could be like, and you didn't want Eddie on the receiving end. You picked at your peas, not daring to look up, and you knew how they would all tease you about nagging again. “Maybe we shouldn't talk about this”. Eddie raised his eyebrow, stopping his rant. “Why are you scared?” he challenged. You shrugged back.
Everyone was surprised. You hadn't nagged, you hadn't come back at him, you had stayed remarkably calm. Eddie wanted to see how long it would take you to snap, but he didn't have a chance when Chris, taking the hint, changed the subject. “So when’s the date, Eddie?” Not realising this would be the thing to make you snap. Since when did he have a date? Indeed it wasn't with what's her face from the party? You thought he didn't remember anything from that party, and if he did, why hadn't he apologised to you yet? “Well, she wanted to come over on Thursday, but I don't know” he looked at you to gauge a reaction; that was your weekly bowling night. Don't shout. It's okay. It's only the night you look forward to most, and you don't have much to look forward to. It doesn't matter. Well, maybe it does, but not to him anymore. “Have fun” you say standing to leave the table, dumping the food on your tray. Any hunger you had felt had gone and was replaced with nausea.
You needed somewhere to hide because you weren’t going to the next period. You needed someone to cry or scream or both. So you disappeared to Eddie’s spot in the woods. You hold onto yourself for warmth, looking down, trying to be careful not to trip on the twigs hidden in the mud. You finally make it to the table without an accident when you see out of the corner of your eye a guy. You pray it's not Eddie or someone here for a deal. It was the last thing you needed. You weren't sure if you would keep your cool this time round, especially with the stupid tears that kept lining your eyes.
“I didn't think anyone else would be here”, he spoke. It wasn't Eddie, but it was someone you also didn't want to bump into. You hoped after that night you would never have to come face to face with Harrington again. “Sorry, I can go,”you say, hoping to make a swift exit. “No, it's fine, I don't own the woods”.
There is an awkward silence. You debated getting up to leave, but you were stuck there frozen. “Looks like I’m not the only one having a shit day.” You don’t dare look up. Yeah, you were having a bad day, but it didn’t feel right to compare it to a breakup. “Mine nothing compare to yours”. You look up quickly. You didn’t mean it to sound that way. “No, I meant I’m fine. I’m sorry about what happened”. God, did you sound as dumb as you thought? “So I guess everyone knows now”. You shake your head “just because I know doesn’t mean everyone knows”.
He weakly chuckles, but there is no humour behind it: “It kind of does. It’s made its way down to the bottom of the food chain”. Steve’s eyes widened. Shit, he didn’t mean to sound like that. “No offence”. He couldn’t help being how he was. Having to put up an act for so long makes it hard to realise when he was being a dick. “None taken”. You shrug. You were used to the name-calling by jocks, so his words felt like nothing. “So what happened to you?” You twiddle with the ring Eddie gave you on a chain. “Don’t worry about me”. Steve smiles. “It’d be nice to worry about something else for a change. So is it a guy?” You laugh at him. “Do you think all girl's problems revolve around a guy?”. He nods.” Well, that is very guy-like of you, but yeah, you’re right. This time, it’s a guy.” Steve’s face lights up with a smirk. “I knew it! So what happened.” You go to speak but look up, realising it is not a friend you are talking to. It’s a popular kid. Even worse than that, it’s the king of Hawkins high. “Just typical guy stuff.”
Steve took the hint you didn’t want to get into it, so they changed the subject. “I know you don’t owe me anything, but Can you not tell anyone I was here? If Principal Coleman finds out I cut, I’m dead” You almost wanted to laugh; the Principal would find out, but looking at his face, you knew he was deadly serious. “who would I tell?” He shook his shoulders. “I don’t know”. You smiled. “Exactly. I’m gonna have to start charging you for all the secrets I keep”. He looked utterly lost. “Huh?”
Eddie sauntered over, his metal lunch box in hand. He could only see Harrington and the back of a girl’s head. So he didn’t know who it was. “My spots are popular today. I’ve even got King Steve, and I assume his new plaything here.” You turn around to face him. Now was not the time for his antics. “Leave it, Eddie” you sneered. The boy’s eyes widened, and he shook his head. “Absolutely not” he grabbed your arm and pulled you out of the woods away from Steve.
After many tries, you finally got out of Eddie’s grasp. “What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”. The boy rolled his eyes, “saving you”. You repeated his facial expression, “I didn’t need saving”. He tutted and slung his arm around you. “You were about to be Harrington’s next prey; trust me, you needed saving.” You pushed him off. “We were just talking”. Eddie looked at you like he was telling off a child, not a friend and definitely not someone he fancied “That’s how it starts”. You hated that he treated you like you didn’t know how the world worked. “I don’t see why you care”. He shook his head. “I’m your best friend, of course I care”. There it was, the famous last words of any crush. You were officially friend-zoned, and you would never get out of that. You felt deflated, so you just nodded and followed him to his van and then trailer.
A month later you were going to another party this time it was your idea. Getting over this crush had been more challenging than you had planned, so you decided to do something the opposite of what you usually would. Tonight, you would act like all the other teenagers and drink till you forget. Or find someone to help you forget. When you told Eddie you were going, he insisted he took you despite your protests. How are you supposed to get over someone when he doesn't leave you alone? You had bought an outfit for tonight because your usual outfit of jeans and a tee didn’t feel fitting. So you bought a red tight spaghetti strap dress, you thought about wearing heels you put them on, but as soon as you wobbly stood up like Bambi on ice, you realised it wasn't the best idea, so you put on your black trusty Converse. It's nice to have familiarity and not feel like Bambi on ice when trying to catch someone up. You hear several impatient beeps outside; you would think you had made him wait for hours when he had only just arrived 30 minutes late, of course. Life is always on Eddie’s schedule. You just wanted to get to the party and out of his sight, so you grabbed your bag put on a layer of lipgloss and ran outside to Eddie’s van.
He had the window down. He looked at your outfit and shook his head. “You’re gonna freeze”. You were sick of his new habit of babying you; was this what you sounded like to him? Was this just him mocking you? The girl from the last party poked her head out. “I think you look hot. I’m Sasha (sorry if this is your name she is nice though) by the way”. You nod. “Y/n”, he brought her, of course he brought her. She was nice. Why did she have to be nice? It's easier to dislike someone when they are a bitch, not a beautiful soul like hers. You were even more jealous now you wish you could be more like her than you. You got into the back of the van as Eddie drove (over the speed limit) to the party. Sasha was super friendly along the way and kept asking you questions to get to know Eddie’s best friend more. The boy stayed quiet, in thought. He was struggling to keep his eyes on the road as he kept looking at you through the rearview mirror in disbelief.
When you finally got to the party, you found your way to the punch bowl, the pair not leaving your side. You picked up a red cup, filling it with the content of the bowl, whenever that may be. Before you could even put it to your lips. Eddie took the cup from your hands, pouring it back into the bowl, Tutting at you. “Are you okay tonight? You’re acting weird”. God, you were sick of his stupid face and stupid comments, but then it struck you this was your way out from the couple, from him. “You know I’m feeling a little weird. I’m gonna go to the toilet… it’s probably because of my period”. It was a lie, but you knew it would stop him from following you.
You went up the stairs and poked your head into a room, hoping it would be the bathroom. Unfortunately for you, it wasn’t; Steve Harrington sat on a bed, his leg tapping anxiously and anxiously. why did you two seem to have a universal magnet. “Sorry”. He looked up at you. You went to leave but were stopped by his voice calling, “Wait, you’re the girl who ditched me”.
“The girl?” You repeated him. “I have a name. It’s y/n, and I wouldn’t exactly call it ditched.” He laughed, getting up and shutting the door behind you. “What would you call it? I know it’s not your fault, though, was your boyfriend jealous?”. You glare at the thought, “he’s not my boyfriend”. He laughs. “Does he know that?” You turn to leave. “I’m not in the mood for whatever this is”. He holds your hand not too tightly, so if you want to go, you can, bringing you to the bed to sit down. You are stocked by yourself that you don't push him away, but the gentleness of this action makes your heart flutter. Maybe Steve Harrington could help you forget. “So he’s the one that made you cry”. Maybe not. You put your hands on your face, embarrassed “Is it that obvious?”. He pulls your hands away from your face, shaking his head. “He’s an idiot if he doesn’t see how beautiful you are”. You want to smile at his words, but they make you cringe. “Is this how you get all the girls?” He sighs. God, he had just been broken up with; maybe it was too soon to mention girls. “I’m sor-“ he puts a finger to your lip. “You apologise far too much”. You nod. “I just don’t want you to bite my head off again”, you mumble, fiddling with the end of your dress.
“When did I do that?” He had no clue what you were talking about, so why did you even mention it? “It doesn’t matter” you keep your eyes down. He uses his hand to lift your chin so you’re looking at him. “When did I do that?” He says as genuinely as he can. He was trying to be better, a more likeable guy, and if he wanted to do that, he needed to right his wrongs. “It wasn’t your fault; it probably just seems worse in my head because I wasn’t enjoying myself…and Eddie was being a dick and-“ he puts his hand on yours to calm you. “It was Halloween; I think you and Nancy had just had an argument. I guess you needed someone to take your rage out on, and I just happened to be there”. He runs a hand through his hair and shakes his head. Annoyed at himself, he couldn’t look at you. “It’s fine; I swear it wasn’t that bad. Otherwise, I wouldn't be sitting here. You just told me to fuck off and said bullshit a lot”. He looks over at you. “So you know what happened with Nancy?” you nodded “I got the gist”. He nudged your shoulder with his “thanks for not telling anything”. You laugh. “As you said in the wood, I’m the bottom of the food chain. I've got no one to tell.”
He wanted to beat himself up; he had fallen so far into the idea of popularity that he became what he swore he would never be a dick. “You aren’t, and I’m sorry if I ever made you feel like that.” You squeeze his hand. “Don’t go soft on me. I'm quite content being there . It means I can fade into the background”. He holds both of your hands and looks you up and down until his eyes land on yours. “Someone like you isn’t meant to fade into the background”. You don’t know what comes over you; maybe it’s how nice he’s being, that you had never been called pretty by a boy, or how handsome he looked, but you lean in and kiss him. Maybe it’s because you recognise the broken mess hidden behind his eyes. You instantly realise what you’ve done. You couldn’t blame alcohol for this. You had still never drank. You’re about to pull away when Steve brings his hands to your hips and pulls you onto his lap so you’re straddling him. “Where” kiss. “Do you” another peck “think” another “you’re going?” You giggle into his mouth and further the kiss. Your hips were rolling against his, which was out of your control, not that you or Steve minded. You were so lost in the moment that you didn’t taste the beer on his lips until he put his tongue in your mouth. You tried to ignore it, but after a few moments, that’s all-consuming your brain: the metallic taste of it.
Steve could tell you wasn’t really into it anymore, so he pulled away. He started to feel insecure. He hadn’t kissed a girl since Nancy had. Had he already lost his touch? “are you okay? Didn’t you like-“ you shake your head animatedly. The action makes your whole body shake against him, making him moan. God, he was super embarrassed now. He moved you off him before anything got more awkward, especially if you were to feel the semi he was sporting. Jesus, why were you so in your head about everything you had a way to forget, and you ruined it? “I really liked it” he refused to look at you, too self-conscious about the situation. He kept his eyes on the ceiling fan above him. “It’s fine, y/n”- you feel awkward, too, so you keep your eyes on the door in front of you. “I just get so in my head sometimes, and I don’t drink, so I tasted alcohol and- I don’t know” You got frustrated at yourself not being able to find words. You sounded like a complete idiot. No wonder Eddie didn’t want you.
Steve looked at you and started laughing, even though he thought you were stupid. “Wait, so the Alcohol is cock blocking me?” He wasn’t laughing at you. You felt a relief wash over you. He was laughing at the situation. His laugh was so contagious and charming you don’t think you’ve ever heard it. Before you know it, you can’t help but laugh too. “What did you think you were a bad kisser or something?”. He hit your shoulder playfully. “Of course not” He joked.
There were suddenly loud moans from the room next door. You both look in that direction and laugh again. You do a silly impression of the moan. Steve stops laughing and stares at you, surprised at how good you are at making that sound. She must have had a lot of practice faking it to be that good, he thought. The moaning next door suddenly got louder. You raised your eyebrow at him “wanna play a game?”. You don't know what had come over you, but something about him relaxed you. You didn't feel the anxiety you would feel around your friends, making sure they were safe. You just wanted to have fun. You hadn’t been like that in so long.
Free to just be yourself. He raised his eyebrows back. “I'm listening”. You moan again, louder this time. He didn't expect that. He wanted to laugh because it came from nowhere, but it turned him on. “Come on then”. (totally inspired by Easy A here) You whisper. He got the hint and moaned, too, not as loudly, though. You kept doing this back and forth, both getting more exaggerated and louder. It was hard not to laugh at how ridiculous you sounded. Next door suddenly got very quiet. “I think we won”, he nudged your arm. You burst out laughing. He had never noticed you before, but he was glad he had you tonight. He needed a laugh. He doesn't remember the last time he had actually had fun with worrying about the consequences.
There was a bang on the door. “Are you in there, y/n!?” you suddenly stop laughing and roll your eyes upon hearing your best friend’s voice. “Looks like your boyfriend’s jealous again”, Steve joked without thinking. But he then started to panic that maybe you weren’t friends yet. Was it his place to jok- you smack his arm. “Shut it, bullshit boy” you tease back. He would have hated hearing that from anyone else. But from you, he didn't mind. He wasn't sure why. Maybe it's because there was no malice in your voice. Perhaps it's because you had made his awful night better. His week is better. There is another bang on the door “y/n!” you glare at the door. Of course, he had to ruin your fun.
Wasn't it bad enough that he was breaking your heart? “I should go before he bursts a vein or something”. You get up to leave despite the voice in your head telling you to stay.  “Thank you for tonight. I really need it”. You kiss his cheek. He smiles, feeling his cheek getting warmer and his heart beating faster. No, he wasn’t ready; he couldn't let this happen like this. “ I'm trying to be better, so I don’t want to lead you on. I don’t want a girlfriend”. You shake your head, going to leave the room, and scoff, “In your dreams, bullshit boy”. He shouts after you, hoping you can hear, “I'm not sure about this new nickname”.
Outside the door, Eddie has his hands on his hips like a parent. “Were you just in there with Harrington?” he says the name like it’s venom. “Yeah, so” just because he was your best friend, he had no right to tell you who to hang out with. You used to think his protective side was endearing, but now it was annoying. You couldn’t say anything about who he hung out with, so he can’t say anything about who you choose to spend time with. Well, that’s what you thought, but Eddie had other ideas, “are you trying to kill me?” He asks like it’s a serious thing that could happen. “Oh yeah, top of my to-do list” There you were, the person Eddie loved, the one with a comeback for everything, but now wasn’t the time for him to bask in your teasing contest that he lived for. No, when there was only a door between you and Harrington, that was too close for comfort for Eddie. He wasn't sure what the new relationship between you and the ‘king’ was, but he didn't like it one bit.

Rum Raisin - jjk
Tumblr media
» genre: fluff, a bit of angst, and smut :)
» wc: 3.6k
» description: established relationship! sickeningly sweet, mentions of cheating (dw it's not real </3), good ol' praise kink :P
Rum Raisin
you were sleeping soundly on a saturday afternoon, basking in your day off when jungkook came into the room, jumped onto the bed beside you and proceeded to pull you into him, purposefully stirring you from sleep and sprinkling you with kisses and squeezes in an effort to curb your impending whining.
you let out a sound of discontent as he pulls you out of the warmth of your side of the bed. it barely lasts a second though, until you're begging him to stop kissing you for just a moment, “you're gonna leave marks, koo.” you warn him.
you can feel him shake his head, “i won't. but i don't really care, either.” he laughs mischievously and kisses you harder just to get a rise from you and it works, causing you to giggle and squirm in his embrace in an attempt to doge him but you know you hold no chance of getting away from him unless he wants you to (and he obviously does not).
“you're in a good mood. missed me that much?” you tease, trying to get him to move on from the campaign against work-(in)appropriate hickeys.
he hums affirmatively, finally resting his face against your head as he pulls your back tight against his chest. “mom was upset i couldn't bring you. she talked my ear off about how great you are and how i need to work hard for a girl like you.”
you nod, “good good, smart woman.”
he chuckled and squeezed your sides as a tease, “i skipped out on dinner because i wanted to eat with you.”
you grinned and turned in his arms to face him. just as you'd predicted, he has that glint in his eyes. you always notice it when he’s in a particularly good mood, and especially when he’s alone with you. you think he’s just special to have it written in his face like that, he is totally in love with you. and you wonder if other people can see it too.
you take his face and press your nose against his as he anticipates and a kiss, “do you wanna make something together or eat out?”
his eyes flicker open and he takes one of your hands from your face and holds it instead, “i was thinking of grabbing takeout from that chinese place since it's beside the store and we’re chronically out of milk and eggs.” you groaned, you hated that store. “it's okay whiney, i'll just run in and get it.”
“no you've driven all day, let me drive.” you pout.
he shakes his head insistently, “my tank is full and you're barely awake, i'll drive.”
you let the pout sit and argue no further. he grins and kisses you until you don't even remember you were pouting in the first place and can't think of anything besides him.
you let your hand tug gently at his curls. he's letting his hair grow long nowadays, feeling comfortable and bold enough to try something new with your constant encouragement. you can't deny it may be for selfish reasons. he looks disgustingly attractive with short hair and an undercut, but there's just something about running your hand through his wavy locks and being able to gently pull at his hair that works a certain magic on you. that, and you found (much to your annoyance) that he simply looks good with any hairstyle. you suppose some people are just that lucky and god must've treated him like a treasured sculpture.
eventually his sweet lips pull away from yours and he’s patting your butt with a grin, “get dressed, baby.”
you reluctantly pull yourself out of bed and to your dresser, finding the nearest pair of jeans and replacing only your pj bottoms before grabbing a pair of socks. jungkook watches you inquisitively from the door, “no top?”
you laugh, you certainly had a top on but you didn't feel like putting in the effort of not only changing that but also finding a bra, especially when you weren't leaving the car. so you shook your head, “no need.”
he stares at you dangerously, leaning against the doorframe as he pulls the lip ring in the corner of his mouth with his teeth. he shrugs, still staring profanely at your chest and the way your low-cut long sleeve shapes it.
you walk to him and place a hand underneath his chin and lift his head, “i do have eyes you know, and they're not down there.”
he follows you out and towards the door before cutting in front of you and backing you against the nearest wall, “oh i know, it's just a girl like you deserves to have every part of her admired,” he leans against the wall with one arm pressed against it and the other running from your jaw to your hip, “and not just her pretty eyes.”
you have a fleeting moment of sanity when your stomach rumbles and you think had it not been for your own survival instincts, a different set of instincts would've taken over entirely and dinner would have been long forgotten.
you press onto your toes to kiss his cheek, knowing full well where kissing him anywhere else would lead to, and tell him despite how hot that show was, that you both needed to eat.
he laughed and pulled out his phone, taking your order and calling it in as you grab your things and put your shoes on.
jungkook made quick work of running in to grab your food, tucking it securely in the backseat before driving to the store.
he squeezed your thigh from the drivers seat, and you refrained from telling him to stay focused on driving because the way his fingers grip your leg with just the right amount of pressure has your face flushing. you blame it on missing him, or maybe the little show he put on before you left, but the smirk on his face tells you he’s doing everything purposefully.
“i'll be quick.” he tells you after parking the car, leaning over for a quick peck before running into the store.
as the sun sets, the car visor becomes increasingly ineffective and leaves you reaching into the glovebox for the pair of sunglasses you put in there last summer.
you find the case perfectly intact, but you also find something else.
you're not terrifically well-versed in the world of makeup but you've been trying to learn. one thing you've avidly avoided was lipstick. it never seemed to suit you and you didn't enjoy the way it dried your lips or the way past boyfriends used it as an excuse not to kiss you goodnight. you warmed at the thought that jungkook would never be that guy, and in fact kissed you so much the day you bought your first gloss that you'd think he was trying to make you use it all.
but that warm feeling fades at the realization that your boyfriend, who had just spent two days at his ‘parents house’ (which he's never done before in all three years, save for holidays, and certainly never without you) had someone else's lipstick in his car.
you knew of the rule, or at least, saw it on social media. a tale as old as time and a sure-fire way to let the poor ‘other woman’ know that someone else had been there, with their man: leave something in the car. hair ties, nails, jewelry, and even, makeup.
you sincerely don't think jungkook’s that guy. he's not once expressed discontent within your relationship. you've spent the last three years within that honeymoon phase and even your friends joke you couldn't possibly be more up each other's butts than you already are.
but you're rational. achingly so. of course you're not going to sit here and think he would do something like that, why would you? you know if you were anyone else you'd tell them to face the music, the obvious was right in front of them. you ran through every scenario, maybe it was a gift? but the packaging was gone, it'd been opened. jungkook has never bought you makeup before either, you figure he'd be all but terrified of the implications of doing so.
you try your best to run through every possibility of how this would have gotten in here, maybe he found it on the ground? picked it up to throw it away? some random girl just handed it to him! but why take it? nothing made rational sense and you were growing increasingly upset with your lack of excuse.
you hear the backseat door swing open as he places the groceries securely on the floor before getting into the drivers seat. he secures his seatbelt before looking over at you, and his face drops immediately. “are you alright?”
your brows are furrowed and you're struck silent. you can do nothing but hand it to him. you hold the lipstick up to him and can't look him in the eyes, entirely horrified by what you might read on his face.
he takes the small tube from your hands and pauses, “what is it, lipstick?”
“i don't know, you tell me.” the car goes silent and you bid yourself to look over at him and immensely regret it.
at first he was confused, but once he saw the way you looked at him, he was gutted. “oh, no, no, y/n, it's okay! it's okay! look!” he showed me the bottom of the tube, “it's rum raisin! it's my mom favorite, she gave it to me because she bought one for you. she wanted you to match and she thought it'd look good on you.”
you debated the plausibility of his story, he sounded confident. that would be a difficult thing to make up on the fly in the detail he described it, and that is 100% something his mother would do. she is infatuated with you, and treats you like her own daughter. she's bought you clothes before, and matching colors at that. and she did always wear a brown lipstick.
you took the tube from his hands an opened it, sure enough it was the same shade and unused, it'd just lost its sticker.
you stared at him hard, “and you swear on your life that that's the truth?”
he nodded so aggressively he could've given himself whiplash, “absolutely, i'll call her right now.” you shook your head and stared down at your hands, letting it roll around in your palm. a wave of ease rushed over you.
he pulls his phone out anyway and sends a quick text before setting it back down and reaching across the car to grab your hands, rubbing your cheek with his thumb and making you look at him, “i would never do that to you, y/n.” you'd never seen him so serious in his entire life. you've only seen this level of determination and conviction one other time, which was when he asked you out. he wasn't lying then, and you can read him like a book, he wasn't lying now.
“i know.” you grin. “it just scared the piss out of me. why'd you put it in the glovebox?”
he grins, “i didn't know if they could like, melt in your pocket, and it bothered me rolling around in the seat. i forgot i put it in there.”
you nodded, very familiar with his weird tendencies. “i believe you.”
he gave you the same, earnest look, “are we good?”
you gave him a quick nod before kissing him several times over, this was the man you've loved for three years, no doubt about it.
you finally pulled away once it dawned on you where you were, “sorry, we’re still in public.”
“i don't care.” he pulled you back in by the back of your neck and kissed you harder. the warmth of his kiss was intensified by the coolness of that damn lip ring. you sincerely think this new hobby of his will be the death of you.
despite everything being all too wrong for you to keep going, neither one of you have the willpower to pull away. he grips you so tight you’re surprised you're not already in his lap and you lick at his lips like you couldn't get enough of him. he always give you more, though. he never denies you.
the only thing strong enough to pull you away was the ringing of his phone, and you both knew who was calling.
he reluctantly pulls away after fighting you over just ignoring her call. he answers it with a sigh, “hi mom.”
you can barely hear her over the phone until he puts it on speaker, “hi y/n! i got you that lipstick, it's the same color i used and you told me it looked good on me so it must look good on you too!”
you chuckled at her logic, “thank you mrs. jeon.”
jungkook made quick work of wrapping it up and saying goodbye to her, setting his phone down again and looking towards you with a grin, “just so you have no doubts, ever.”
you nod and smile sweetly to him, “thank you.”
you watch a smile form and he leans back in to kiss you and you put your hand against his chest to stop him, “uh uh.” you tsk.
he looks at you through hooded eyes, “what?”
“let's get us home first, then you can kiss me all you want.”
he smirks, “you shouldn't tell me that.”
Tumblr media
the moment the grocery and takeout bags leave your hands he’s pressing you against the counter, effectively trapped between his arms as the other pulls you in by your waist. his kiss is intoxicating and you feel your rationality slipping the longer he acts like this. “we have food, koo.”
he chuckles, “i don't care.”
he reunites your lips and moves his hand down towards your ass, grabbing it hard and biting your lip gently. you begin to plead with him, “it'll be cold koo, you said you were starving.”
he shakes his head, “i wasn't talking about food.” oh.
he dips suddenly and you feel your feet lift off the ground as he sits you on the counter with a smirk, parting your legs and fitting so snugly between them like it was a second home. “normally i'd indulge you,” he speaks right below your ear, placing a kiss there, “be a real gentleman, stop myself.” he places another kiss along your throat, letting his large hand hold it taught as the other runs up your thigh, “but you don't really want me to stop, do you?”
you shook your head breathlessly, “no.”
you feel him grin, “do you mean it?”
you nodded eagerly, “yes, koo.” placing your hand above his that rests atop your thigh, and moving it towards your center.
you hear him chuckle and hum in your ear, “my good girl, showing me what she wants.” he unbuttons your jeans with ease and slides his hand into cup your heat, purposefully avoiding your lips so he can listen to your sweet noises as he circles your clit.
you don't hold back, because he deserves it. you let every hum and whine slip past your mouth until he can't stand to be apart from them, easily slipping his tongue in to drown out your voice. you kiss him back with vigor, wrapping your legs around his waist to pull him impossibly closer and you feel him grin at your eagerness. you tug on the bottom of his shirt and he pulls back, “what do you want?”
“take your shirt off, please.”
he laughs as he grabs it from the bottom and pulls it over his head with ease. you easily gawk at him and his figure, a sight you'll never be tired of. “lean back.” he tells you, digging his thumbs in the waistband of your jeans, “lift your hips.” he instructs until your jeans join the growing pile on the floor. “so pretty.” he coos, tracing his lips in bruising kisses along your neck as his hand slips beneath your underwear, groaning in pride at the wetness between your legs. easily lending a finger inside your hole, gently curling it at its deepest points. jungkook was a fast learner in most subjects, but the quickest of them all was your body. "tell me what you want baby."
your grip on his shoulders was tight, like you'd fall from grace any second.
"more, please."
he hums and gently bites your neck, "you're so pretty." he pushes two fingers past and you instinctively widen your legs to accommodate, feeling the familiar aching of an approaching orgasm. he's generous with his pace, accelerating until you're moaning in his ear and he knows he's where he needs to be. "so wet, bet you're close huh?" you nodded as best you could, "you wanna cum on my fingers or on my cock baby?"
you knew what you wanted without question, but you decide to tease him, "both."
"both?" this seemed to have excited him, mindlessly going deeper and making your toes curl at the feeling. "so greedy baby." your body starts to tighten and your eyes screw shut, whimpers fall from your mouth as you feel it crash into you, holding onto him like a vice as he helps you through it.
once you've calmed down he removes his hand and looks at you cockily, “i will never get tired of watching that.” he kisses you numb, “wanna have that image tattooed on my eyelids.”
you chuckle at him and begin to undo his belt and he watches you intently, “no breather?”
you shake your head, “need you now, please.”
he tsks, “i don't think you want it enough.”
you pout and kiss his lips, “please koo.”
“almost there.”
“jungkook please,” you whined, having gotten his pants completely undone.
“what?”
you blink up at him as he towers over you on the counter. you let your hand slide into his pants just as he did yours, finally feeling his hard cock beneath his jeans. you moaned at the feeling and the eagerness of having him inside of you again, “please jungkook, i need you.”
he seems to have momentarily lost his composure as he lets you feel him up, “fuck, you're such a good girl.” he picks his head up and looks down at you, still with your hand in his pants sheepishly, “you deserve to be rewarded for that.”
you pulled him back down to you and ran your tongue against his lips and he met you with a unmatched desire and stripping you both of whatever clothes you had left. you felt his hard cock against your folds and writhed with excitement. he ran it through your wetness, teasing your entrance until you begged him yet again, "jungkook please, fuck me."
he groaned with excitement and wasted no time, letting his dick slide past your warm folds as slowly as he could bring himself to do it, which must've taken the strength of a saint by the way he was straining himself.
"fuck, i always forget how fucking good you feel."
"don't hold back, please, need to feel you."
he sucked in his breath and ticked his head, "if i didn't id finish in seconds, baby. that's how good you feel." he pulled his cock out slowly, leaving the head in before snapping his hips back up, the angle the countertop gave him wasn't making your case any better, either. feeling him dragging against your walls and hitting that perfect spot.
you were sure he knew immediately by the way you tightened around him, only making it easier for him to gain momentum and he began fucking up into you so hard you were sure you were leaving marks against his back. he didn't seem to mind or notice at all, focusing on your pleasure instead as he always does. he instructed you to lay against the table so he could use one hand to keep you where he needed you, and used the other to rub your clit without warning.
you shook your head and reached for his wrist, “fuck, please, too much.”
he didn't relent, “you've got it baby, you can take it.”
you couldn't keep your eyes open or your mouth from spilling lewd noises as he touched you, feeling your legs widen and your core grow tighter as a second orgasm comes ripping through, “i'm gonna cum jungkook.”
he could only groan in response, pushing down on the bottom of your stomach with his thumb that was holding you in place. you came with a resounding moan of his name, the only comprehensible thought you had.
your core tightened around him and he warned you in seconds before finishing inside of you.
he let his head rest against yours as you both regained your composure. he let out a deep breath before pulling out and you whined, immediately covering your area, “you're gonna make a mess of my kitchen.”
he reached for the nearby paper towels, gently wetting one before handing it to you and grabbing another for himself.
“we can team clean tomorrow.” he beamed.
you rolled your eyes at his enthusiasm, it was contagious. he helped you off the counter and back into your comfy sweater, “so, eat or shower first.”
you held him close to you, “eat. definitely eat.”

Edit- I forgot to mention, this takes place before the other two fics, during the mw2 campaign (tho I definitely spread out the events bc no way could this all take place in the span of a week)

---"this is how we began,"---
Kyle had just gotten back from almost a week of being tossed around like a damn ping-pong ball when he met them. Or, rather, met you.
Fresh out of the shower—yet he swore he could still smell that filthy water on himself—and bored out of his mind with nothing else to do.
It would take a bit of time before Laswell fed them some more actionable intel, and to Kyle's knowledge, the two other members of their team were already on the hunt in Mexico. So all there was to do was wait.
Well, Kyle figured he could probably use this time to catch up on some much needed rest—but where was the fun in that?
He couldn't sleep, not right now, not when Price had informed him of a new squad touching down at their base this afternoon. According to the captain, they—around five or so soldiers—were just here to provide support if needed.
Kyle didn't think it was necessary, but it's not like he had any say in the matter. Especially since, apparently, the squad would only be using their base as a rest stop between their own missions. So, again, he didn't see the point.
But, like any curious soldier would do—and any who were a bit skeptical about their newest comrades—, Kyle was already beelining his way to where he knew the newcomers would touch down.
Kyle had paid attention to the bare minimum information needed to avoid butting heads with the group, but never dug much further than that. Some American mercenaries under General Shepard's direct command and, as he'd mentioned before, here to provide support or something. Again, he hadn't paid much mind to the info thrown at him; honestly didn't think he'd end up meeting them anyhow.
Only when he finally gets out on the tarmac Kyle doesn't immediately rush to greet the new soldiers as he usually would. He comes to a full stop, previously resting heartbeat now running a marathon in his chest, gaze zeroed in on you.
Seeing you—your form lax and almost casual in comparison to your stiff-postured comrades, a certain air of confidence surrounding you—made Kyle wish he'd done a bit more research, asked a few more questions.
Dressed no differently from the rest, there was nothing particularly interesting about you. Nothing that should draw him in so wholly upon merely seeing you. He couldn't even see your face, for fuck's sake—nor could he see any of the rest of the squad's, but that's besides the point.
You hadn't even glanced his way and Kyle was acting like a schoolboy seeing his crush in the hall between classes.
“You're staring, Kyle.”
“Mh- Wha-?” He drags his attention away from you, wholly prepared to start spluttering out his defense when he recognizes the man who'd come to stand beside him. Noticing the barest hint of a smile pulling at his captain's mouth.
With a soft scoff Kyle looks away again, shaking his head a little. “Not at all, Cap’, just scoping out the newcomers. That's all.”
As anyone else would do, of course.
But they both know it's a lie.
Right before Price has the chance to open his mouth again—likely to playfully call Kyle out on his bullshit in that gruff way of his—the aforementioned group of newbies comes to a stop in front of them.
Two in front, three fanned out behind them. Five after all, it seemed. You and some guy in the front, the rest Kyle wasn't sure of, their identities far too obscure to tell.
“Cap-” The guy standing beside you starts to speak, only to be roughly—albeit probably playfully—nudged aside by your elbow, effectively cutting him off.
“Greetin’s Captain,” you say, amusement obvious in your tone, a slight wrinkling at the corners of your eyes betraying a hidden smile.
And Kyle would be lying if he said he wasn't completely enraptured as you spoke. Barely even registering the hand you held out to shake Price’s hand.
“Shadow 0-9, at your service,” though there's still a hint of humor in your voice, there's a certain air of professionalism to it too. Even as you retract your hand and raise it, fingers curled into a fist and thumb jutted out, to gesture to the soldiers around you.
Starting with the one beside you, then on to the three behind you, right to left. “Joined by Shadows 0-3, 1-4, 1-5, and 2-3.”
Then it's on to the actually serious stuff. “Commander Graves has sent us under the General's orders to stay here and provide assistance to your cause if need be. Though mostly we will be carrying out our own missions and using your base as a landing zone between operations.”
And again, amused—your flip-flopping emotions were going to give him whiplash at this rate.
This time clapping a heavy, gloved hand on 0-3’s shoulder, the slight crinkle around your eyes returning. “If y'all got any questions, feel free to ask me,” lightly jostling 0-3 now. “these imbeciles hardly got a clue what's goin' on half the time anyway.”
It's obvious the other four Shadows are used to your antics, as none of them even bat an eye at your, likely empty, insult to their intelligence.
Kyle zones out as Price goes over his own spiel, mind somehow blissfully blank as he stands beside his captain. Thumbs subconsciously slung through his belt loops in place of gripping his vest like he usually would, gaze focused on the group in front of him, giving all the impressions of some serious, gold-star sergeant attentively paying attention to his CO.
That couldn't be further from the truth.
The spell Kyle is under only breaks when Price directs his attention his way, drawing his focus when the man says, “-gent Garrick ‘ere will show you lot around. All the standard things; barracks, mess, rec and the works-”
He then proceeds to space out again when your gaze slips from Price and to Kyle instead, not a single thing out of place as you analyze him.
It feels like you've got a scalpel to his skin, peeling away layer after layer. Through the muscle and fatty tissue, and deeper still, until you've reached the bone, and you keep going.
It's not uncomfortable, the way you tear into him like a rabid hound gobbles up a raw steak. Or maybe not rabid, no, you're not feral. You’re cool and calculating and yet playful all the same. A working dog, a trained hound, then.
It's more.. Kyle doesn't think he harbors the vocabulary to put it into words how he feels about it; flayed alive under your watchful gaze. It's strange. But it's not.. bad.
It's been all of five seconds when your eyes flicks away from him. A quick scan, a once over, just as he had done to your squad, and then you're fixated on Price again.
Price who's still talking, saying things Kyle doesn't have the wherewithal to bring himself to care about. Not when he felt so viscerally raw and unbelievably vulnerable in his own damn base at the moment.
He has a few more seconds to compose himself before Price finishes up and all five of the collectives’ attention is on him, expectant.
And so Kyle plasters on a carefree expression, the corner of his mouth quirked up in a half-smile, and casually nudges Price with a loose fist. A mused, “thanks, Cap'” and such, then he's taking charge.
Voice level and strong, like any typical self-respecting Sergeant, as he turns and urges the group to follow.
The last thing Kyle expects is for you to fall into step beside him—with the impression of your personality he'd gathered, it shouldn't be a surprise—, only lagging a half-step behind, a grin obvious under your mask.
His brain short-circuits, but Kyle quickly recovers, keeping his focus locked straight ahead and decidedly not looking at you. Not for any reason in particular.
“Sergeant,” You drawl—and, fuck, it was just a rank, a title, several others held the same one. So why the hell did it feel so different when you said it?
“Got somethin’ on your mind-” Kyle begins casually, as if his heart wasn't doing literal jumping jacks in his ribcage right now. And it takes him a brief moment to remember what he was supposed to call you, wracking his brain for answers, before he finishes with a bland, “0-9?”
God, he hoped that was the right number. There were five of you, all these numbers were going to be a struggle to keep up with.
“Oh, none ‘a that.” You say with a soft chuckle, waving him off. “I know those digits can get a bit confusing. Call me Viper, that's what everyone else calls me anyway.”
Viper? Like a fucking snake? Not that Kyle had any room to judge; not when two of his teammates were a cleaning product and a Hot Topic employee.
Shite, that probably also meant you wanted him to extend the same damn olive branch. Kyle considered himself a pretty social man, he could hold his own in a group, could approach strangers with almost the same confidence he did with friends.
But there was something about you.
And Kyle wasn't sure if it was good or not.
“A’right, Viper,” Kyle doesn't remember swiping his keycard, but he does jump right back into his body when his hand curls around the handle, pulling the door open and letting you in first before letting your comrades struggle with the heavy door after him. Taking his place just that half a step in front of you once more. “They call me Gaz.”
“There a story behind that one?” You ask, not a single ounce of hesitation or delay.
“That depends, there one behind yours?” Kyle quips right back, not missing a beat.
Kyle's ears pick up the tiniest huff you let out, but nothing else. “That depends,” you mimic. “how much you wanna know?”
“Whatever you'll give me.” It was easy to lay the charm on thick, but it seemed almost like a competition between you two, as you quickly fired back.
“Desperate, are we, Sergeant?” Kyle could've swore you just, honest to God, purred when you said that. But he must've just been hearing things.
“Just curious.” You had asked first. How had this turned on him?
“Mm, think I'll just leave ya guessing.” You muse, closing that half-step distance to just barely brush your arm up against his, and then back to your place again. “It'll be more fun that way.”
Kyle nearly forgets there's four other people witnessing this conversation right then.
Finally alone again, and having gotten the new squad settled in properly, Kyle takes a moment for himself.
As of right now apparently his fellow sergeant and good ‘ol lieutenant were currently taking a tour around Mexico, and Price was out doing very important Captain-things, so Kyle was entirely on his own.
On his own to deal with whatever the fuck that dumpsterfire of a base tour that had been.
He'd been entirely sidetracked by you the whole time! It didn't make any sense, what did you have that the other soldiers didn't?
You all wore the same uniform, all bore the same random-ass numbers, all were just a bunch of trained killers- there was literally nothing to set you apart!
A lot of people were touchy by nature, especially in professions like this that were built on comradery, Soap certainly was, so there was no reason in the deepest parts of hell for why-
Kyle groans softly to himself, running a hand over his hair before pushing himself up and off his desk chair.
There was no rhyme or reason to it, to why he, in the most cheesy fucking way, honestly felt a goddamn spark when you touched him.
And it wasn't even in the realm of- of intimate. It was a simple brush against him here and there, made perfect sense too! You'd been standing so close the entire time- it was only expected that once and a while you two would graze each other now and again.
He's pacing now, wishing nothing more than to be able to pick up his phone and call the only man who'd be able to help him make sense of all these weird feelings. And also the only man who'd call him daft and his brother in the same sentence.
But he can't do that, so Kyle resigned to simply doing what he should've done in the first place after his furious scrub down in the shower; take a damn nap.
Kyle's first impression of your personality had been wildly off-mark.
If he was going off of how he'd first perceived you last week on the tarmac, he would say that you were easygoing, gave off a more.. laid back energy, maybe even a bit quick-witted.
But his current observations said everything but that.
Kyle had been trying to skirt past all the tired, bleary-eyed soldiers that passed him in the hall without being noticed by the more lively of the bunch; he didn't have the energy for that right now. The last few had nearly flown by him though, wide-eyed and clearly spooked.
Confused, Kyle had brushed it off and continued walking. Sometimes these men were like wild horses, alerted by the smallest mishaps.
Kyle becomes keenly aware of exactly why those last stragglers had appeared so frightened when he turns down the next corner, on his way to the rec room, when he spots you.
Or, more accurately, spots you tearing one of your own soldiers a new one in the empty corridor. The very self-explanatory as to why, isolated corridor.
He gets the gist of it fairly quickly, even as the words flying out of your mouth go in one ear and out the other without a hint of recognition.
The shorter man had obviously fucked something up, and was now hearing it in all the jumbled mix of curses and slang Kyle couldn't even begin to comprehend.
“An' if I eva’ ‘ear ya sayin' shit like that again I'll ‘ave ya scrapin’ shit out the muck from the break ‘a dawn ‘n ‘til the damn cows come home, ya hear?” You spit, masked face mere centimeters away from the other's. A gloved hand fisted in 1-5’s, if he remembered correctly, shirt collar, making him have to nearly raise to the toe of his boots in order to not be choked by the fabric.
There's a venomous flare in your eyes when you snap to look at him, a misstep on his part alerting you, and Kyle has never felt more conflicted in his life.
“Everything good here, Viper?” Obviously not, but what else was he supposed to say?
“Just peachy.” You grit out, fingers slowly unfurling from 1-5’s shirt. In turn the poor man is able to lower himself back onto the ground fully, letting out an obvious breath of relief when your hand pulls back completely, falling clenched at your side.
The brave soul who had somehow triggered the brunt of your aggression manages to stand there a little longer until you huff out a gruff, “dismissed.” And send 1-5 on his way.
Though not before barking out a, “And be sure ‘ta relay the message ‘ta Pierce!” As the man scurries away, a quick “yes, sir!” choked out over his shoulder.
“And if I asked what that was about?” Kyle asks when 1-5 is out of sight, raising a curious eyebrow.
“I'd say it ain't yer business, Garrick.” You snap, still obviously not having gotten the frustration out of your system. Kyle's first instinct is to throw another quip right back at you, extra sarcasm on top like it's sprinkles and he's making a damn sundae, and he almost does, but Kyle quickly slams his mouth back shut before the words escape.
Instead he sighs and relaxes his posture.
“Y’look like shit.”
That seems to put a halt to whatever was rampaging through your head, the rage clearing for a moment to make room for shock first, then confusion.
“..what?” Your clearly puzzled gaze—so expressive, even with the mask—would be humorous, if not for the truth to Kyle's words.
You did look like shit. Like someone had run a train on you—literally. A real one; honk honk, rattle rattle and all. Your hair ruffled, matted with some unknown substance and sticking up in every which direction. The black paint around your eyes was smudged away and exposed your true skin tone, well.. kinda. Now with the additional flavor of mud and debris.
Even with the limited access he had to your face, Kyle would say you looked.. tired. Run ragged—maybe that train wasn't all that metaphorical. Beneath the anger it was clear as day you were just exhausted; you looked nothing like that first day he'd met you, when he had shown you around base.
Hidden grin and playful banter replaced with a stiff posture and veiled limp—yeah, he definitely noticed that part. You weren't the only observant one here.
“I said you look like shit, mate.” Kyle says. His clarification doesn't, well, clear anything up for you, if anything just frustrating you further. Making your eyebrows furrow in a way that's almost cute.
You huff, posture straightening even though Kyle can see the way the new position puts a strain on your worn body- he doesn't mention it. It's not his place.
“Thanks.” You reply, voice flat.
“It was a compliment.” It wasn't.
Deadpan, “really?”
“Mhm.” But Kyle stays firm in his resolve.
“I aim to please.”
“Clearly.” And there it is. Kyle can't see it, obviously, but the small twitch of your features, the slightest crinkle at the corner of your eye, tells him he has succeeded. Even if it's not your usual smile—not that he would know what that looked like.
Another puff of air from you, closer to a sigh this time. “Did you need somethin', Gaz?”
The heat is gone, but Kyle can see the way the embers linger; ready to reignite at the first spark.
“How ‘bout we take a walk, mh?” He wasn't planning on a walk, really, but Kyle wasn't actively planning against one either. “Clear your head a bit?”
You look like you want to brush him off, hesitating like you want to say no and rush off just like your subordinate had. But you don't. “..sure.”
And that's all Kyle needs to tilt his head in the direction he came from before turning around.
Kyle doesn't have to look back to know you've taken your place the position on his left, half a step behind him. Just as you had that first day.
It becomes a sort of.. routine.. after that. And while Kyle hadn't seen much of you that first week, you make an appearance by his side—always on the left, always half a step behind—more often than not.
A little spark of some unidentifiable emotion lighting up in your eyes when you see him. Kyle isn't quite certain what it means, but if it meant he got to see you more often, he was fine with not knowing.
You were.. friends. Or as much as you could be in this situation, one Kyle knew was temporary. Which had the man trying to heed Ghost's advice for once and not get attached; there was no telling when either of you would be shipped out again, never to return.
“Gaz!” The sound of your voice is unmistakable when shouted over the noisy chatter of the cafeteria, and Kyle's heart definitely does not do a weird flip when he hears it. Definitely not.
Yeah, so he may or may not be struggling with the whole following Ghost's advice thing. Hey! He said he was trying, not that it was actively working.
“Viper.” Kyle greets when you take a seat in front of him. Usually he would have lunch with his dear captain, but Price was even more busy as of late—and reasonably so—and the lack of that familiar presence was really starting to wear on him. Made the lack of another pair of comrades much more prominent.
“Did you know your bellybutton is actually attached to your bladder-”
You filled in that empty space a little.
“What? I thought it was just cut off from everything else?”
Kyle never did find out what had you so down in the dumps, but it wasn't his place to know anyway. Everyone had their secrets.
“No! There's a lil' line that travels from your bellybutton down to your bladder. That's why it feels so damn weird when touched-”
You were a little spitfire. Reminded him of Soap, kinda. Except Soap didn't flip flop from fiery rage one moment to calm and collected the next, buttery smooth words dripping with innuendo.
And then there was right now, where you shared the strangest little factoids with Kyle.
“And don't even get me started on the dormant blood vessel in your liver-”
And that is where Kyle drew the line.
“Nope, nope, nope-” Kyle says, waving a fork in your general direction. Amused when you gasp in surprise, as if he's threatening you with something more substantial than this flimsy plastic. “I am eating. I don't wanna hear gross facts about my anatomy.”
“Would you prefer a physical demonstration on anatomy instead?”
And that was the weird innuendos he mentioned before. Sure, Soap and him shared a few playful taunts now and again, occasionally the rest of the team would chime in—and there was whatever the hell Soap and Ghost had going on, but Kyle didn't think those were all jokes. But this felt.. different.
“You are a menace, you know that?” Kyle huffs, twirling some bland mush around the fear-inspiring fork from before; now that he wasn't actively threatening you with it.
A dramatic gasp, and Kyle doesn't even have to look up to know you look just as dramatized as you sound.
“I am a damn saint, Gaz!”
“Rigghhhht, is that what we're calling this?” He does look up this time, and the slight widening of your eyes, the little glimmer of something hiding in those captivating hues, makes him glad he did. Pocketing that adorable priceless look on your face for safekeeping.
“I've got the body, the attitude,” you count with both hands, a finger for each listed item. Gaze on something vaguely to your right as you think. “And the charm! That's like- the fuckin' holy trinity. I'm a damn holy temple, I tell ya!”
“Sure you are, mate.” Kyle says, a small grin on his face that he couldn't get rid of even if he wanted to. It does make eating a little difficult though.
He tries not to linger on the fact that you never eat in front of him. But you always come to hang out with him anyway.
Things are good between you two, and Kyle feels warm and giddy every time you grace him with your, as you'd once put it, saintly presence. He doesn't ponder much as to the why he feels this way; not that it really matters, this was temporary and you'd be shipped off somewhere else eventually.
That space to his left feels cold when you're not there, empty, and even though he's never worked with you in the field, Kyle finds himself looking back, expecting you to be there when he crawls through tall grass and mud in that suffocating ghillie suit.
It's dumb and Kyle doesn't know why he does it, but he half expects you to chip in a word or two over his shoulder in the midst of his playful banter with Price and Laswell. When he is, once again, pushing through tall grass. Only this time he gets to snipe a few dozen unsuspecting soldiers from hundreds of meters away.
Things are going well, so damn well, almost too good to be true. And it is.
Kyle would have never expected to hear such raw panic in his captain's voice, accustomed to the man's usual gruff and composed behavior. It strikes fear right into Kyle's core, cutting through his chest and piercing directly into the sergeant's heart.
In the beginning, Kyle had been eager to get this over with and fly back to base with the expectation of seeing you again; now that idea was nothing but a passive thought as his mind was clouded with a worry mirroring Price's.
Kyle's entire torso feels like it's been ripped to shreds when they touch down on base again, every step shooting sparks of pain through his nerves and reminding him why he hates heights so damn much. But at least they managed to get Laswell back before anything could go terribly wrong. They had Farah and her soldiers to thank for that.
Wanting nothing more than to soak himself in a tub of scalding hot water, and knowing he'll have to settle for a lukewarm shower instead, then sleep the pain away, Kyle's path is interrupted by the sight of you marching down the corridor.
“Gaz! Shit- there you are!” You call when a few paces away from him, a sort of relief obvious in your breathy tone. You come to an abrupt halt right in front of him, blocking Kyle's way and causing him to come to a sudden stop lest he accidentally crash into you.
Your eyes are analytical and Kyle is far too exhausted to decipher the several layers of emotion that flash through your gaze.
In the end you seem to come to some sort of conclusion, stating a flat, “Y’look like shit.”
“Yeah,” Kyle huffs out a surprised laugh; the phrase reminiscent of when he'd caught you chewing out one of your soldiers. “Falling out of a helicopter doesn't usually make for a pretty sight.”
“Fuckin'- pardon!?” Your eyes go wide, and Kyle would bet your mouth was hanging open right now too. “How the hell did that even happen?”
Kyle couldn't reveal too much of their little rendezvous in Urzikstan, but he could tell you the gist of it. Namely how the fuck he got tossed out of Nikolai's helicopter like a damn ragdoll.
“Was helping out a friend,” car hopping and trying not to get shot at in the process. “Got a bit tossed around, you know how it is- RPG, couldn't deploy countermeasures in time..”
“Luckily I got the rope latched in time, shit hurt the most when the rope ran out.” Kyle's hip bones ache at the memory, and he knows for certain his body will be one giant bruise in the morning.
“Are- are you okay-?” You stammer, gaze no longer on him and now flicking over his dirtied uniform. Never lingering on one spot.
“I'll bounce back soon eno-” Your hands reach out then, as if wanting to touch him and make sure for yourself. Kyle cuts off mid sentence, eyes widening by a fraction and body going stiff.
As if just realizing what you were doing, your hands pause where they are, hovering awkwardly between the two of you. Your gloves and his own gear serve as a thick barrier between your bodies, but Kyle swears there is an energy buzzing there; an electric static thriving in the air between you both, the tension near suffocating.
“I'm just gonna..” it takes Kyle a second to realize you've fully retracted your hands by now, a stale awkwardness lingering between you two.
Kyle isn't sure whether to feel disappointed or be appalled by how much he wished you had touched him. Between the fluctuating altitudes he'd endured and the full body ache he was currently experiencing, Kyle comes to the conclusion that it must just be the exhaustion finally kicking in. Yes, of course. That is why he was mourning the loss of something that hadn't even happened. There was no other possible reason.
Clearing his throat with a stilted cough, Kyle nods. “Y-yeah, definitely. And I should take that shower..”
“Of course, yeah-” Your gaze is downcast now, arms tucked behind your back and Kyle notes the nervous shift of your weight from one foot to the other. “You- you do that.”
“Yeah.” And then Kyle hightails his ass out of there, it's a little awkward—who is he kidding, it's beyond awkward. And how many times was he going to say awkward, would any other synonyms suffice? You had been standing in front of him, so Kyle has to do a weird little hop to the side to get around you- which then triggers you into motion. And you step to the side to get out of his way.
Only the direction your subconscious chooses is once again right in his path and Kyle stumbles over his own feet, barely avoiding colliding with you but pulling on his sore muscles in a way that has him digging his teeth into his lip to avoid letting out a sharp yelp.
When Kyle regains his balance, the hallway is empty and you're nowhere to be found. With a deep sigh, and a heavier weight on his shoulders than before, Kyle straightens back up and continues on his way to his initial destination.
There better be some warm water left when he gets there.
As it turned out, falling out of a helicopter and just barely surviving by sheer luck did actually have its drawbacks and one couldn't just walk away with a few scrapes and expect to be a-okay in the ol’ nob up top.
For Kyle that meant various scenes playing out in his dreams of what could have happened, not what did. Ranging from him not having clipped the hook onto his gear right, to the rope just snapping in half the minute Kyle reached the end of the line. Even some where he just straight up splat into the back of one of the many trucks that had been flying by. The worst had to be when the helo was hit dead on and Kyle wasn't even given the chance to make things right, bleeding out and dying right then and there in the cabin of Nikolai's helicopter.
Waking up drenched in a cold sweat wasn't anything new to the sergeant, but waking up alone, as of late, was. Usually he was bunked up with Soap, and when not on base, or stationed on another, he was grouped up with other soldiers.
Being forced into the waking world with his heart lodged in his throat and beating so fast it was practically trying to escape, with the aches and bruises that made the nightmares all that more real, and being stuck inside a dark, empty room? Now that just wasn't pleasant at all.
Pushing through the stabbing aches radiating throughout his body, Kyle forces himself to stand, haphazardly throws on an old hoodie and decides right then and there he needs a cup of tea. Extra steamy.
The walk to the common room, and subsequently the kitchenette beyond that, is short and Kyle doesn't have to think about it when he places one foot in front of the other. His legs easily carried him to his destination without the need for any extra brainpower.
Kyle doesn't notice the looming figure in the dark, obscured by shadow in the corner of the rec room, until he's already got a burning hot mug between his hands. Passing back through now that he's got his tea, he's graciously welcomed back by a lamp in the corner flicking on.
He blames the high-pitched squeal that rips from his throat on his exhaustion and not that he'd been spooked by a fucking light of all things.
“Viper- shit,” He breathes, the hand not currently cradling the mug flying up to clutch at his heart.
“Sorry.” You murmur, sounding a bit sheepish. Your voice is a little deeper than usual and Kyle assumes you must've also woken up recently. He opts to ignore the small flutters that erupt in his stomach at the sound. “Couldn't sleep. Didn't think anyone else would be out ‘ere, wasn't tryna startle ya.”
Kyle moves to wave off your concern, only to wince at the strain it puts on his sore muscles, sucking in a sharp breath between his teeth.
You, ever the observant bastard, immediately zero in on his discomfort, one of your eyebrows quirking upward as you study him.
“Alright?”
Not trusting his voice, Kyle hums a noncommittal sound, and, trying to appear at least a little put together, straightens his posture and steps forward.
But the pain is worse now and he nearly spills his tea, instinctively tightening his grip around the steamy mug.
Fuck, Kyle had known it would hurt—Christ’s sake, he had literally fallen out of a damn helicopter—but he had obviously severely underestimated how bad it would be. Now, he was used to pain, you didn't get very far in this line of work without at the very least some tolerance for the aches and burns.
But this? This was a pain that went from an average sort of soreness in the muscles of his thighs, to sharp stabbing pains in his hips and a near debilitating throbbing ache that spanned over practically his entire torso.
Everything hurts. Laying down hurts. Standing hurts. Sitting hurts. Everything. Unless he stayed completely still, Kyle's entire body felt like one giant bruise. Any little twitch of a muscle sent a stabbing shock straight to his nervous system.
You're on your feet and standing in front of him before Kyle even has a chance to right himself again. When had his breathing become so labored?
There's no hesitation this time around, no awkwardness when your hands shoot out. Grasping his shoulders, your hold gentle yet firm, and stabilizing Kyle where he stood.
Kyle isn't quite sure when it had happened, but the warmth of his mug was gone. Replaced by the heat of your own body from where his hands rested—really, more or less hanging on for dear life; he'd be ashamed if he had the wherewithal to do so—on your waist. Fingers curled tight, twisted and snagged into the fabric of your shirt.
If Kyle hadn't been so out of it from the sheer amount of pain he was in, he would've noticed your lack of uniform. More dressed down than he'd ever seen you—though a mask still firmly in place, he would've noticed if it were otherwise.
“Did anyone check you out when you came back?” Kyle has to actively work to zone back in on the rough timber of your voice, his mind sluggish as it works through each word and syllable.
“Y- kinda? I wasn't bleeding out or nothing.”
“Oh, fuck's sake-” you let out a heavy exhale, and Kyle, though as disorientated as he currently is, can here the unsaid you’re a goddamn idiot clear as day in that singular breath.
“Alright. You're comin' with me.”
“Wh- huh?”
“With me. No questions, Garrick.” You hold no authority over him, if anything, this being his base, and not yours, Kyle had a bit more of a say in matters than you did. And yet, when you release your hold and untangle yourself from his, Kyle follows.
There is nothing stopping you from touching him now. Not since last night.
Kyle can still feel your hands, strong and yet so, so unbelievably delicate, running across his skin. Scouring his abdomen for anything that would clue you in on whether he had internal bleeding or not, pressing down on his bruised rib cage, checking for breaks in the fragile bone.
Thankfully, you find nothing but the bruising painted clearly on his skin, and Kyle can't get the picture, the feel, of your hands brushing over his stomach. Up his sides and down to his hips, further still to his aching thighs. The latter had been over his clothes, but the heat of your palms had been more than enough.
The following day, and practically every waking second now, Kyle's mind and eyes were on you. If he couldn't see you, he was thinking about you. And if he could see you, you were usually at his side. A hand on his shoulder, an elbow nudging his arm.
Kyle now found himself in an odd state of yearning. His body craved your touch in a way it never had for any other's. His heart skipped a couple beats every time he even caught sight of you.
And when you touched him? Shit, Kyle had to hope and pray the blush he could feel warming his cheeks wasn't as visible as it felt.
Kyle wasn't quite sure why he reacted to you the way he did. And, honestly, he wasn't quite sure he wanted to. He was perfectly content not knowing—was he? Or was he just burying what he didn't want to acknowledge?
He didn't ruminate on the fact that Soap had a tendency to touch him similarly—but, shit, it was different, wasn't it?—, and never had Kyle once responded to it the way he did with you.
If Price had noticed—which he likely hadn't with what was going on halfway around the globe. Soap and Ghost stuck somewhere in Mexico, and of course the constant planning on what their next move would be. The captain didn't mention it.
If Soap was here, he'd probably call Kyle out on his bullshit. But he wasn't, and Kyle was perfectly alright with continuing to ignore the, definitely one-hundred percent platonic, convoluted emotions he felt towards you.
Things were good; the last thing Kyle wanted was to accidentally rock this delicate sailboat when he currently had unlimited access to your bubbling laugher, sarcastic quips, and crinkling eyes.
A Viper, that's what you were nicknamed after, and, with that fiery attitude of yours, Kyle was starting to understand why.

Love and Dares
The thing with Hellfire is that, they always come up with ideas to make a campaign a little more interesting. What they didn’t think of, for their next shenanigans, someone might get hurt; Unfortunately, it was you.
(Eddie Munson x F!Reader)
Warnings: Mean Hellfire :((, swearing Notes: ' ' means it is the characters' inside thought Hellfire might be ooc Multi-chap, this is just part 1 !! Word count: 3.4k

___
Members of Hellfire were convinced that everyone else in Hawkins High, hates them. It was kind of true, if people weren’t hating on them- others just don’t acknowledge their existence at all. At least that’s what they thought- You, on the other hand, wanted to get along with everyone. You had been eyeing the said club for a while now because you realized you haven’t got the chance to interact with them. How can you? When your friends would drag you away every damn time you were near the Hellfire. They believed those silly rumors about the club sacrificing innocent students for their ‘rituals’.
You also never failed to see their club leader- I mean, Eddie’s pretty hard to ignore with his scenes in the cafeteria. Despite being one of the ‘popular’ students, you knew what your type was- it just happens to be a guy like Eddie Munson. People just turned a blind eye to Eddie’s looks because he was a ‘freak’ but, some people knew that if he dressed up and acted ‘normal’ to please everyone- students might actually fall for him. None of that was needed for you, you admired the guy for as long as you can remember. You also genuinely could tell that whatever it was that the club’s doing, they were always having fun especially with Eddie around.
Being in the same class as Eddie didn’t help too, you couldn’t miss his cute confused face, the way his brows furrowed whenever your professor talks about Shakespeare. It took you many denials before admitting to yourself that you have a crush on the one and only Eddie Munson. After that, you would always find yourself staring at the club’s table.
Bad news for you, your looks of longing’s been misread by the Hellfire club. Whenever they catch your stare, they thought you were judging them. You were known to be the ‘nice’ girl but Hellfire refused to settle with that- for some reason, they believe that you somewhat have a mean side to you. It was driven by their hatred for the popular people. Which, made you their next target.
___
“If I may interject, gentlemen, Lady Applejack. Whilst I respect the passion, you’d be wise to take Gareth the Great’s concern to heart. There is no shame in running.” Eddie told his players, they were in a risky situation. The group huddled back together to discuss their strategy, “Eddie’s making fun of us at this point. We can’t win this man.” Jeff whispered to the group, slightly shaking his head. Right then, Gareth thought of something “Why not make this fun for Eddie too?”
“What? What do you mean?” Mike asked, visibly confused at what’s Gareth indicating. “Let’s make a deal with Eddie. If we win, we get to dare him.” Everyone stared at him with their brows raised. “Annnnd, if we don’t?” Dustin questioned, actually starting to consider fighting still with the thought of how hilarious would it be to dare Eddie to do something. “Same thing. C’mon, it would make things interesting!” Members inside the circle began deciding, it was an opportunity to bite Eddie back in the ass if ever they do win. Eventually, everyone agreed as they came up with a dare for Eddie.
Every member’s head now turned to Eddie “Hey Eddie! We’ve got something for you too.”
Eddie just raised his brows, gesturing for Gareth to continue. “You up for making this campaign more fun?” When Eddie heard this, he smiled. He was confident that there was no hope for the group, so he agreed without knowing what’ll cost him “Always.” Everybody’s dignity now lies in the hands of Dustin and Erica.
When Dustin missed a hit, a chorus of groans erupted. Players began to feel nervous because of the same thing they came up with- they were nervous to lose and let Eddie order them around with dares. What no one expected was for Erica to roll a crit hit. They won! Cheers surrounded the room. Gareth, with a smug smile, looked at Eddie. “So, ready for your punishment, DM?”
For a guy who’s done a lot of attention-grabbing shit, Eddie didn’t even wince, he anticipated the punishment to be something goofy but, that’s where he was wrong. “We want you to date (Y/N) (Y/L/N) ‘till graduation.” Eddie’s once confident smile- faltered. “Are you crazy? Y’think she’d even let me near her?!” Eddie knew that you were untouchable, you were at the top of the food chain and he’s- he’s at the lowest. “That’s part of the challenge Eddie, and also, it’ll be like your- drive to graduate so you can end the dreadful relationship. Good luck man.” Jeff chimed in with a teasing smile. ‘These little shits’ Eddie mentally cursed. He was aware that the club’s enjoying his suffering too much. “Okay, but why- why her though?”
“Have you seen the way she looks at us?! It’s like- not a day goes by that she doesn’t stare at us.” Mike explained. “Right, she’s like… silently judging us, I bet.” Dustin backed up. “Eddie, this is our chance to get back at them! Imagine she falls for you then gets dumped by the Eddie Munson. How embarrassing!” Gareth laughed as if he just made a grand plan to ruin your crowd. Eddie was skeptical to do the dare, he didn’t want anyone else to get involved in such thing, regardless of his hate for your people. But, as he would like to say, he was a man of his words.
___
Eddie figured that the strongest chance he has- was to ask you to be his tutor. It was still a long run but, it was a better plan to get close to you first instead of just straight up asking you out on a date. He still didn’t know what you were like, he just assumed that you’re like your friends. Someone who thinks that he’s a freak. Fortunately for Eddie, their D&D session ended the same time your cheer practice did. He waited on a corner in the hallway, watching you exit the gym. In Eddie’s point of view, it seemed like you told your friends to not wait for you as you head to your locker. You were now alone and this was Eddie’s chance to talk to you.
Gathering up enough self-assurance, Eddie went near you and rested himself against the locker beside yours. Your locker’s door blocked your vision so you were not able to notice him there and once you finally closed it- your whole body jumped. “Shit! What the fuck!” you almost screamed on Eddie’s face. You were startled, it was a normal reaction when you see someone suddenly standing beside you. Eddie stared at you with wide eyes, exactly not expecting cursed words to fall out of your mouth in such a loud manner. ‘Right, as expected’ Eddie said to himself, he thought that your reaction was because of him- technically, it was but, more because he surprised you not because it was Eddie. But he didn’t know any better and thought you were just being rude.
“Heyyyy.” Eddie greeted you carefully, afraid because of what happened. You, you calmed down after your shock and realized- you were talking to Eddie! Eddie, who’s your newly found crush! “Oh my god, I’m so sorry for that I- I just got scared… What’s up, Eddie?” you immediately came up with an apology, still nervous you were face to face with him. Eddie got lost in his thoughts for a second, he was thinking of how you apologized and how you knew him- but then again, he also thought about how he’s the school freak- how could you not know him. He decided to still ask you anyway. “You know me?”
You smiled and thought about how adorable he looked asking the question, how could you not know him? He’s the guy that invaded your mind 24/7. “Yeah… we’re on the same class, right? English?”
Eddie went and scratched the back of his head, he looked down as he talked to you “Ah, that’s actually the reason why I came here. You- you’re top in English, yeah? Well… I was just gonna ask If uh- you can tutor me? Y’know, so I can finally leave this hell hole.” Eddie let out a nervous chuckle, he had no idea where his confidence went. To be honest, you were jumping inside, you were ecstatic. Eddie just asked you to be his tutor, meaning, you get to spend some of your time with him. “Yeah, yeah, I get it. Sure, why not? Your place or mine?”
“Wait, you’re actually agreeing that fast? I know this may seem… bad, y’know, hanging around with the school freak-“
You hated that Eddie thought so low of himself, if only you could tell him how much you admired him. But of course, you wouldn’t, so you came up with a rule. “Okay, tutoring rules number one- don’t call yourself a freak, especially around me.”
This stunned Eddie and made him look at you, ‘wait, what?’. For a moment, the guy had no reaction. He had to process what was happening; you, (Y/N), just told him that he was not a freak. That was a first for Eddie and it made him feel something inside, something he was not used to. “O-okay.” At last, he managed to utter out a word. You offered him a sweet smile, repeating the question he did not respond to. “Soooo, your place or mine?”
Eddie panicked, he’d never been to a girl’s house and that made his stomach churn. In the end, he just decided to suggest his little spot in the middle of the woods. He couldn’t let you see where he lived because, frankly, he was embarrassed. The trailer’s filled with unwashed dishes, laundry clothes all over his room’s floor, and their ‘withering’ couch. He thought about how maybe you were not used to places like his home, so he went against the idea to bring you with him there.
___
Let’s just say that- a lot of tutoring happened by now. It’s almost a month in after he asked you to be his tutor. Eddie did tell you to keep it a secret because he didn’t want any rumors to spark- not yet, at least. And now here you were, in another session.
“Ughhhh, I can’t do this anymore!” Eddie slumped on to the picnic table’s desk, as usual, he was just being dramatic when it comes to studying. And as usual, you thought it was cute whenever it frustrates the shit out of him. You still remember the first tutoring session you had, Eddie literally started to pull his hair because he hated it so much. “Eddie, if you wanna graduate- you have to work for it,”
“I know, I know. I just don’t get it! Why do we have to study something that was made ages ago?!” Eddie yelled while facing another Shakespeare book. You shook your head but you couldn’t stop the smile that crept on your face, “Okay, that concludes our session anyway. You can go now, be free Eddie!” you laughed as you bow down with one of your hands bent in front of you, gesturing for him to go and do his daily activities. Eddie felt himself grin, he couldn’t deny it- you looked adorable when you did that. Especially that it matched his usual energy. He didn’t want to admit it yet but, he actually enjoyed your company. You were not what he thought, unless, you were faking it- maybe that’s the reason he kept being in denial. He didn’t want to feel secured with what you were showing him, he couldn’t let his guard down. It was still a running dare, it would be ironic if he liked you first- he thought. That was not the plan!
Because of it, he kept pushing the fondness he was feeling for you away, FOR WEEKS, whenever you do something, anything at this point actually. Every time you were with him, this image of you that he created, slowly burns away as you continue to prove him wrong. You had taken it to your advantage to show Eddie, little by little, that you admired him. Jesus, you even started listening to metal just so you guys could talk about it- you also started to like it too. The excitement that coursed through Eddie’s body, when you first asked him if he already listened to Metallica’s new song, was the reason he started feeling this way. Call it shallow but, Eddie hardly talked to girls, let alone girls who actually have the same music taste. Maybe, that was the beginning of it all.
Eddie knew he should stop thinking about you and how it feels like time’s so fast with you but, before he realized it, he was inviting you to Hellfire- which he thought was a bad idea but he already uttered out the words. “Hey, if you’re not doing anything tonight… maybe you should come see us. Uhm, I think it’s my turn to torture you- tutor you, I mean.” Eddie wasn’t really sure why he thought you would like the idea of learning D&D, but in all honesty, he was just finding ways to spend more time with you, even when he’s refusing to admit that he likes you.
Not gonna lie, you almost jumped out of your seat as you hear Eddie’s suggestion. He’s inviting to you his own club! It was also your chance to talk to his friends and maybe, make a good impression. “S-sure, yeah! I- I would love to.” With that, you proved him wrong again. You’re actually coming, now he’s nervous. You both sat up from the bench and head towards the club’s room.
Everyone else was already there, they were discussing how their characters upgraded since last session when the door burst open. Looking at them was their Dungeon Master- and you. Everyone smiled, but not for the reason you thought about them being nice, they smiled because they were proud of Eddie for making progress with the dare. For weeks, they avoided talking to Eddie about it, just letting him make his own moves with his own pace. Eddie cleared his throat, “Everyone, please welcome (Y/N). She- will be joining us for tonight’s session.”
A chorus of ‘Hi’s’ and ‘Hello’s’ welcomed you, you thought it was nice to finally have a conversation with them. You greeted them back as Eddie leads you to a seat beside his throne, he said it’d be easier to understand the game if you could also see his point of view. The game started.
It had been a few hours by now, usually, when you sit down just to watch something for that long, you’d get bored but- it was Eddie you were watching anyway. It was nice for you to see him in his own element, you thought it was impossible to admire him more but here you were. You were fucking lovestruck, mostly because of the fact that Eddie included you in every step of the way. He made sure that you didn’t feel left out so, every now and then- he would tell you things about the game.
For example, when he saw your furrowed brows while Dustin rolled a dice, he quickly told you how the dice decides for everyone’s fate during the gameplay. At this point, you learned every single basic rule in D&D. The game then ended, before you got the chance to get to know the other members, they quickly waved goodbye to you and Eddie- them thinking about giving both of you some privacy, for the dare that is.
Eddie began sloppily packing up, giving him time to think about what to say to you. Eddie should be satisfied with the amount of time he got to hang around with you- but he’s not. Once again, his intrusive thoughts won, “Wanna watch a movie? I uh- got a new one…” he said quickly, looking up from his various sheets of paper. To be honest, you didn’t want to go home yet. Having Eddie around for almost the whole day, you knew you didn’t want this day to end, so of course- you agreed.
Once you arrived at his house, after an awkward silent van ride, Eddie immediately felt the regret of inviting you. Not that he regrets you, it’s just that he hadn’t really thought about what you might think of the trailer he’s currently living in. But as soon as you guys entered his little home, his regret vanished when you said, “It looks cozy in here!” you looked around the room, admiring every little detail there was. You also saw some of his pictures hanged, “You had a buzz cut?!” you turned to Eddie with a look of surprise. You walked closer to the picture, not noticing Eddie’s blushing face. If the trailer didn’t embarrass him, that picture surely did. “Uh- yeah, middle school.” Eddie answered, scratching the back of his head.
He then remembered why you were here in the first place, ‘Shit!’ he mentally cursed as he quickly ran towards his movie collection. He knew damn well he didn’t have a new movie, he just said that out of panic. Eddie figured to just watch the movie he’s seen a million times, it was his favorite one. “Here it is… ready to watch?”
You turned to look at Eddie who’s holding a tape, you went closer to grab it from his hands- inspecting. “Eddie, this came out years ago! I thought you had a new one? It- it doesn’t matter anyway. I haven’t seen it… yet.” You trailed off because you knew you had seen it a couple of times, you just wanted to stay so you lied, assuming he hasn’t watched it. “M-me too! That’s why I said new…” you both stared at each other, completely unaware that both of you lied. You and Eddie were idiots when it comes to feelings, AND that’s how you both ended up re-watching you guys’ favorite movie, oblivious about it too- just for the sake of extending your time together.
Halfway thru the film, you felt yourself drifting to sleep, forcing yourself to stay awake because you thought it might offend Eddie that you didn’t join him thru the whole thing. But eventually, you fell asleep. Eddie felt something heavy landed on his shoulder, he looked beside him to see you fast asleep. Then it dawned to him- on his shoulders, you, asleep. Eddie couldn’t help but stare at your sleeping figure, he couldn’t help but admire how beautiful you looked up-close. Intrusive thoughts came again and he raised his hand, carefully bringing it closer to your face. When he was about to caress your cheek, you stir in your sleep, Eddie swiftly retreated his hand back. His heart was racing.
“Oh my god, did I fall asleep? I’m so sorry…” You said, lifting your head up. “That’s okay. It’s almost midnight… you uh- need a ride home?” He managed to offer you even with his heart still racing. You didn’t want to disturb Eddie more but, it was dangerous to go home alone at this hour so you gladly accepted.
Eddie drove you home and while he was driving, you fell asleep against the window in the passenger seat. “Hey (Y/N)… wake up, we’re here.” You heard a soft voice called, you looked out the window to see your front porch. All you wanted to do was to flop on your bed and sleep. You opened the van’s door and landed on your feet, you waited for Eddie to also get out so you can properly thank him for the day. You hugged yourself as you felt the cold wind on your skin when Eddie joined your side. “Thank you for the day Eddie, I enjoyed it.” Still on your dazed state, you stood on your tip toes and planted a soft kiss on Eddie’s cheek. Right after that, your consciousness went back to you in a flash and realized what you just did. Not wanting to see Eddie’s disgusted face, you hurriedly send off your feet to walk towards the house- not looking back, you entered the door and slammed yourself against the back of it inside. ‘Why did I do that’ you mentally cursed yourself, you thought about how maybe you made Eddie uncomfortable… but because you made your own escape from the situation, you failed to see Eddie frozen from his spot.
Eddie stared at the door you just went thru, not a thing on his mind, just letting the feelings he pushed away come again. With his mouth agape, he reached to touch the side of his cheek you kissed. Warm emotions were the only thing he could feel- and that’s when he finally admitted to himself.
He likes you.

Oooo I have been looking everywhere for some daddy!eddie and you wrote him so good!!
If I may, how about little!reader coming with Eds to a hellfire meeting? 😊
dnd and colouring in
Content- hell fire club, very poorly written dnd, little!reader, dummy use, Dustin vibing with reader, soft toys, dnd scene from stranger things, canon swearing, mentions of bigspace.
Summary- Eddie has a hellfire meeting, you don't have a clue what's going on but you like watching how serious your daddy gets.
Authors note- this is such a lovely concept, I will be honest I don’t know anything about dnd so I just copied the scene in season 4 lmao, so sorry it took so long,it's not proofread, hope you enjoy♡
Tumblr media
You didn’t know much about the game your daddy was playing but you enjoyed seeing him so passionate about something, besides you of course.
you were sitting a little bit away from the table with a colouring book in front of you and your black rabbit in your arms, Eddie was setting up with his 3 of his friends “Hey Y/N” said the one with the tartan red shirt on “hiii” you elongated the word colouring in your last bit on green.
about 30 minutes later two boys you knew as Dustin and Mike walked into the room with a shorter girl with an American flag draped over her like a cape. You liked Dustin, he would always have conversations with you regardless of weather you were big or little.
“Absolutely not” Eddie said sitting on his throne with his hands clasped together “you asked for a sub, we delivered” Dustin said pointing to the girl “this is Hell fire club, not babysitters club” that resulted in a grunt and a death stare from you “not you baby, not you” he whispered reassuringly as he walked towards the trio.
as you listened to the back and forth between the two of them your little side was a bit intimidated by the 11 year old but at the back of your mind your big side grew a liking towards her.
eventually Eddie backed down and they were all sat down at the table beginning the final part of the campaign.
Eddie described the monster to the club with very distinct detail, now normally it would scare you however he had already told you what it looked like so hearing it for the second time it didn’t really bother you. “do you flee Vecna and his cultists, or do stand your ground and fight?” Eddie questions the members around the table. “I say we fight, to the death” Dustin replied “to the death” “to the death” “to da death” you mumbled under your breath making Eddie chuckle.
at this point your colouring in was discarded and you started to feel the suspense of the campaign, watching carefully as everyone rolled the dice and had very intense reactions you started to really enjoy yourself. the best part was when your daddy started doing weird movements and jumped up onto his throne causing you to cackle.
the club huddled together after a while and your daddy quickly came to check on you, “hey princess, you ok?” he asked giving the top of your head a kiss “yeah daddy I'm ok, this is fun” you giggled into the fur of your bunny “yeah, you enjoying it” he smirked at you “yep.”
after he walked back he got their attention “Hey!, if I may interject gentlemen, lady applejack, whilst I respect the passion you’d be wise to take Gareth the Greats concern to heart. there is no shame in running. Don’t try to be hero’s, not today kay?” he said spreading his arms out “ one sec.”
“Screw it, lets kill the son of a bitch.” “the chances of success are 20 - 1″ “never give me the odds” Dustin said in a sassy way making you giggle. “Give me the D20″ he said Eddie throwing the dice at him. Dustin missed, you made a mental note to remember that for when you were big again. watching as Erica took the last roll you held on tightly to the cuddly rabbit in your arms.
20
Erica had rolled a twenty.
it took you a few minute to realise that it was over and they had won and when you did you shot up and made you way over to them. everyone was screaming including you, giving Dustin a hug you both jumped up and down together him shouting and you squealing. looking at Erica you gave her a small smile gave her a quick side hug “well done” “thanks Y/N” she said with a smile, she obviously knew Dustin would have told her, add that to the list of things to berate him about when your big.
Running over to Eddie you jumped into his arms, he spinning you around making you giggle hysterically.
if this was how all god campaigns ended, you’d have to come to more.

Hello Tumblr followers, it's October and a lot is happening! First and foremost, the Eldritch Saints leftovers are finally listed. New pins, prints, stickers, and keychains are available now in my Etsy shop. Many of these items have been sent to my stockists as well.
Tumblr media
Speaking of Kickstarter campaigns, if you missed the Angelology III campaign, the pre-order store is open until October 14 2023. Lots of pins, stickers, and keychains - including some awesome guest artist designs - are available for pre-order. If you miss the pre-order, you will have to wait until any leftovers are available after the campaign.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Back to new shop items: in addition to the Eldritch Saints pins, I have even more new pins available! Charity pins for the Maui Strong Fund and Assistance Dogs of the West are now available. My Film Noir Monsters are also available: there are a limited number of full sets, individual pins, and blind bags.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This month's seconds pins are Penemue, Percy de Rolo, Archangel Samiel, and Mistress of Darkness.
To make room for all the new pins, older ones have retired from my Etsy shop. You can still find them with my stockists. If you're curious about what pins I've made, I've updated my pin catalog. If you have restock requests, you can make those in this Google form. I generally don't reprint any pins once sold out, but if a design is popular enough I'll consider making a new variant. So if you have a variant idea, you can include that in your request.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyway, returning once again to new shop items: new stickers are also available! Rat Kings, Biblically Accurate Barbie, and a glitter version of Original Character Brainworms are now listed in my shop. New keychains are available too, including Be Not Afraid Jon, Biblically Accurate Barbie, Throne Angel, Little Guy Seraph, and Angelic Messengers keychains.
Tumblr media
On to more general news for October. This month I am working on drawing original angel designs for Angeltober 2023. You can follow along on social media. Some of these designs might turn into pins next year! So you can let me know if you like any in particular.
Since we're in the last stretch of 2023, I thought I'd do a recap of my upcoming plans.
First, let's look ahead to November, where I anticipate a lot will also be happening. November 24-25 2023 I'll be at the SJMade holiday fair, so I'll be working on items for that. The Cowboy Monsters, Trigun Cowboys, and a few other pins weren't quite ready in time for this update, so I'll be saving them for November. I also have some recolors of pins, including Wolf Knight and Deadwale, that might be ready by then. My plan for these November items is to a list a small quantity as usual at the beginning of the month, and save the rest for the fair. Any leftovers will be listed right after the fair, so you can expect two shop updates that month.
Looking ahead to the rest of the year, I will be working on crossing off some more pins from my self-funded to-do list: including original designs, and more fanart pins for Spiderverse, Better Call Saul, and Trigun.
I'm planning to close my Etsy shop December 8 2023, and reopen it sometime in 2024. That will be your last chance to grab any last minute gifts. My stockists will remain open so you can purchase from them while my Etsy shop is closed.
Next year I'm running my last two planned Kickstarter campaigns: Angelology IV: Angels of Extinction, which will feature designs inspired by endangered and extinct creatures; and Pride Angels, featuring angel pins in the colors of different Pride flags. This won't be my last Kickstarter campaigns ever, but probably my last for a while.
I will also have a much shorter list of pins I'm planning to self-fund in 2024: it includes some more fanart pins, the rest of the Zodiac and Astrological Putti, and a series inspired by the angelic hierarchy. I'm considering making a pin club on Ko-fi so I can share those plans and help fund those pins, without relying on Kickstarter. I would also post manufacturer reviews and merch previews. Let me know if that would be something you'd be interested in!
In 2024, outside of the Kickstarters I'm planning to scale down my pin making to focus on making other merch, I have a long backlog of stickers, keychains, and other items I've set aside this year to focus on pins. Pin making will always be my greatest passion so I don't think I'll ever stop completely, but it does take a lot of time, effort, and money and I think it's time to ease up on it so I can work on other things. I'm also looking to diversify my inventory of items, so if you have any suggestions you can send them my way. That's my early New Year's resolution anyway, we'll see if I follow through!
That's all for this update, which ended up being a long one. I'll leave you all with a link to my About Page/FAQ if you haven't already given it a read; and if you have any questions you'd like to ask anonymously, you can send them to my Tumblr ask box. Have a wonderful week.

After a too-long hiatus, NerdyKeppie is back with our next Kickstarter! Not only will we be launching our next pin line, but we have stretch goals on this campaign for restocking prior campaigns as well -- so if you missed getting your favorite flag/pin combo on one of our earlier campaigns, you can make sure you get it now. :D
Follow the campaign above to be notified when we launch (currently planned for February 7th, 2023) -- and even if you don't plan to back the campaign, following helps our chances of being featured on Kickstarter, so it's a free way to help a queer- and trans-owned business to succeed!
