Loving Draco but hating on Ron

Calling Snape abusive while glossing over the fact that the series takes place in an old-fashioned magic school 30 years ago.

Thinking it’s valid that just because you hate a character you can disregard their trauma

Wolfstar shippers who bash Tonks for no good reason (you can obviously not ship Remadora and ship Wolfstar, but why hate on her when she genuinely did nothing bad?)

Insisting that George should’ve died instead of Fred (that’s so disturbing??? wtf is wrong with y’all?)

Excusing literally everything the Marauders did by saying “they’re just kids” and not acknowledging that Snape was the same age

Hating on Cho, Fleur, Tonks, and Lavender (hm I wonder what they all have in common)

Hating Percy when he has an extremely realistic and understandable story and felt genuinely overlooked by his family (which he was).

Calling 9 year old Snape a creepy stalker

Acting like Hagrid was a perfect angel just because he was kind to Harry

Hello! A question for one of the best DN historians in the platform 😛 so, for all of us who like L/OC romances there's just such a cute dating sim from spiraling trap, and although I don't consider it as necessarily canon (more like part of the extended universe, headcanon as you will) I think it's an interesting start towards a more "realistic" romance with him, if you want to write fanfiction. I don't know if you played it, but L goes from neutral polite/blunt, to interested to feeling the MC gives him peace. I found that phrasing particularly curious because it not only further humanises L but also speaks of how burdened he is, even beyond what we see in canon. How do you think a relationship with him would go, based on this premise? It's good food for thought, at least 🙂 thank you!

I've never played that game myself, but it does sound like a cute scenario for L. I think it does make sense that in order for L to end up romantically interested and involved with someone he might need to first realize that maybe he would indeed prefer having a partner and someone to share his everyday life with on that level in the first place. Because I'm not sure it's something he would normally be prioritizing or believing that he wants or needs...

My own interpretation of L is almost entirely based on his manga self. I think that manga!L is aloof from others not just for his own protection, but also somewhat because he's secretly fairly arrogant about finding most other people quite boring and not relatable, and would also think it's too difficult to maintain an intimate relationship with most people. I think he's very stubborn, very driven, and also has been a bit spoiled and sheltered, and is not accustomed to navigating typical everyday social situations because of how unusual and often isolated and secretive his life has probably been. And I think he'd likely be a fairly difficult personality for many people to date, either because he's not willing to make the compromises and sacrifices and do the usual expected gestures that might be required for it, or because he logically can't see the point in himself dating people most of the time – I think he would be the type to think or to tell himself that he was not like other people who constantly need companionship in this way, almost looking down on anybody else who does. He definitely defaults to feeling superior about his differences from most people rather than inferior to them most times, I think. Though I'm not sure exactly how explicitly self-aware about that all or vocal about it he would be? I think generally L usually is content just to focus on what interests and entertains him the most, which is being a detective, and that to some degree this is just because it's the only thing he's genuinely actually cared a lot about focusing on before. But also maybe because he's never known anything different and might not feel as cocky about his abilities to navigate something like a romance or a longterm relationship very effortlessly, either (and he probably only really likes doing things he already knows he's good at).

I don't know if he'd actually consider himself terribly "burdened" by his position as L ordinarily, since in canon he says he is doing it because he wants to (whether or not maybe Watari sort of molded him into that role when he was a child as well). So I think the only time he'd start feeling really burdened is if he was getting way in over his head and feeling like he was losing control and losing face and failing, like during some of his darker moments of the Kira case (which I am sure was definitely by far the hardest case he ever had, and also the furthest he ever pushed himself to solve one). In that case I can certainly see him maybe finding someone who managed to comfort and help him in some way during that hard time attractive or enjoyable to have around, and to start thinking about things more like whether or not he would actually enjoy having an everyday partner in that specific way.

I don't really know how to extrapolate on it much further than that, because I don't know what the specific scenario is, and I am not normally an LxOC shipper or LxReader shipper myself. I have never actually read any fics like that before or anything. But hopefully some of this rambling was helpful a bit maybe, haha!

People calling Hobie×Miles (punkflower) shippers proshippers as if we didn't ship them for longer than the movie even came out will always be crazy to me.

I've seen lots of people sending threats, or reporting people because they made punkflower, goldenflower (pavxhobie), ghostbyte (gwenxmargo), flowerbyte (margoxmiles), etc, arts or videos. Going to assume that it isn't because most of these ships are POCs ships, there's just literally no point to do that.

First of all, there's no confirmation of hobie's age. If ur basing urself of that one interview, then it was of the CONCEPT of hobie, and even so remember it was only one person who said it. Its heavily implied thats he's a teenager throughout the movie. (Also in the art book, its said that he's slightly older than Miles).

For the thing about him going to the pub and all, minors can and will go in pubs, (not saying that its always legal) are yall living under a rock or just dense on purpose? Teenagers do wtv the fuck they want, even when theyre not allowed to. Youre all going to tell me teenagers respect the rules of not drinking and go to clubs becuz theyre underage? Come off it. Also hobie literally merked his president and u think he'd draw the line at drinking alcohol as a minor? HA.

Aside from that, to be fair to everyone, the directors keeps on changing what they're saying about hobies age, one day they'll say and imply he's a minor and the next second say he's an adult. It's like they all have different idea of this character's age. So, nothing is really comfimed, and his age is really up to interpretation.

Now that we're past THAT point, the other kind of people talking about his age are people saying "oh but he looks old" "that man is most definitely 30yo" "there's no way he's underage" things of the sort, u get it. And I'm just over here like??? Why is it impossible for you to think that this guy could be a teen? Is it the air? The wrinkles? What makes it seem like for you that there's no way he could be around the other teens' age? And 30??? Cmon. People often assume black people are older than they look, which is a universal experience for all of us. Did none of u ever see a blk teen who doesnt have a baby face? Because thats literally what hobie looks like to me. To others we can seem too "mature" for our age, or just look too "old" to be the age we say we are, so is it really impossible for him to be a teenager? Think about it.

(Speaking of him being black, this discourse turned into some kind of racist thing that honestly was not unexpected at all. Yall come over here shitting on people talking and educating u about a character they relate to cuz hes like them, and the representation is making them go bonkers. I don't know why yall can just sit ur arses and listen for a bit, its not that difficult tbh. And dont get me started on the mischaracterisation of his character. Marking him as "an angry black man"? Really? Be. Fucking. Original.)

Same goes with Margo?? Yeah in the comics she's in college, but cmon now u guys know damn well she's a teenager in atsv😭. Gwen is also much older in the comics but i never see anyone talk about it, so what does that mean???The only reasons I can see that you all don't want Miles & margo to be together is because you're all stuck on the milesxgwen ship. News everyone, other ships exist, not everyone is going to like the same ships as you, so either move on or stop being on the Internet.

Also, the thing about pav being 13 is bonkers, where'd u even get that from? I need to know asap. "Oh, but he has a gf!" Yeah? Well he has two hands. (Idk why u all act as if that has ever stopped anyone)

Everything just seem like a race thing to me tbh.

The movies might be inspired from the comics, but not everything is going to be 100% the same. For exemple: gwen is 2 yrs older than Miles in the comics, but in movies she's only 15 months older, Jess Drew is white in the comics and black in the movie, Miguel O'hara is white passing in the comics, compared to his version in atsv where he has brown skin, lyla's disign is also different.

You get it? Things are going to differ as much as things are going to be the same, because (get ready!!) this is the multiverse! Just as earth-616 is just one universe in all the marvel comics, atsv is another universe.

All in all, im not saying u can't view them as adults, or wtv u want, thats ur interpretation, but don't go around being pissy at people around u cuz they have different point of views.

Season 4 of windbreaker low key starting to suck. The latest 2 chapters are so...meant for the male gaze??? I don't even know how to put it into words but oh my god it's like the author is trying to form this shit love triangle between shelly/jay/noah even though noah said that she likes owen (maybe twice or smth I don't remember) it's like he wants to form this harem for jay and it's not entertaining at all.

But yall the latest chapter is so weird and so fucking frustrating. Like the sexualization of noah is just too much LIKE I DON'T WANT TO SEE HER ASS EVERY SINGLE GODDAMN CHAPTER FOR GOD'S SAKE😭🙏🏽 And this ain't me saying that I'm fine with male characters being naked but can't stand it with female characters.

But the whole thing with noah is just so weird, every single chapter she's in the most weird position while riding the bike and ppl overlook it like omg.

ever since ss 4 started the author has been pushing noah to be one of those girls who have a crush on jay which is fine but it's getting too much now. And he's been creating his rift between jay/shelly shippers vs jay/noah shippers which is so unnecessary like hello this is a sport manhwa we don't anymore love triangles + it would be weird if all that development that jay and shelly had would be thrown under the bus just for creating a stupid love triangle.

AND THE LATEST CHAPTER? too much fan service like i promise wtv happened in the latest chapter won't serve the plot of the story and would just create problems with jay & shelly + within the fandom.

You are so right with m/f stuff! I’m not familiar with a lot of VBS shipping discourse, but it’s annoying to see how people can’t write an analysis on how important Tsukasa is to Rui without others dog piling them and saying they’re delusional and ignoring canon for their yaoi “with no content”. (At least on twitter, tumblr is much better with this) And as someone whose also bisexual, it’s so annoying seeing people use bisexuality as a gotcha to ship m/f and act as if its progressive and that it gives them the okay to hate on f/f and m/m pairings.

YES YES EXACTLY. God I hate when people keep saying that ruikasa has no content and their dynamic is underdeveloped whenever anyone talks about them. Like as biased as I am because I like the ship, they do have a very developed dynamic regardless of if you like the ship or not. Literally there's three events about it (potato and pandemonium + it was a pretty big background element in curtain call), one of which is the third event in the game. like if you don't like ritk that's perfectly fine, but when people are dogpilling ritk shippers for talking about their dynamic/pandemonium chapter 8/wtv and saying they're reaching, especially if the person doing this is an account dedicated to another rui ship/are a rui fan, it's a bad look because you're literally ignoring a very significant part of his arc. Ignoring massively important aspects of a character you claim to like just because of a ship is low. This fandom is way too set on everything being about shipping like bruh no one is telling you that you had to view pandemonium as romantic you can view it as platonic perfectly fine and not need to erase parts of rui's character to justify your rui/female character ship.

it's an especially weird situation with VBS as well. as much as I hold the earlier EN fandom to a higher standard there was a lot of discourse around VBS and the fact that they're implied gay. like it used to be a situation where if you admitted you shipped m/f vbs you would get jumped. as a comeback people would accuse biphobia but i never saw huge amounts of people being actually biphobic. saying "an and kohane are quite heavily implied to be lesbians (and it makes some people uncomfortable to see them shipped with men)" is a true statement but people didn't need to attack others over it. not liking a bi headcanon isn't biphobic unless you're actually being biphobic about it yknow? luckily it calmed down after a while but now you get jumped for not shipping m/f which leads us straight back to the statement about an and kohane. gbr the situation with vbs shipping nowadays is much worse than the situation when i first joined, obviously partially bc of the massive increase in fandom size but mainly because people are spewing actual homophobic rhetoric over akty ankh (someone literally tried to claim heterophobia was real bc of people not liking m/f vbs a couple months ago. actually this has happened multiple times).

AND YES GOD THIS FANDOM'S APPROACH TO BI HEADCANONS IS SO FUCKING ANNOYING. Like people only use it as a way to make m/f ships more queer and try to 1 up people with it because oh yes male/female couple are not the norm at all and they're so cool and different and if you add a bi/pan hc on top of that it makes you more progressive (/s). HCing a character as bi does not give you cool points and the fact that so many people only do it for m/f ships pisses me off to no end because people treat it like Straight 2 when bi people can be in m/m and f/f relationships. People can hc whatever they want ofc but it's so obvious sometimes that people are only using bi hcs as a way to quickly round off their hcs for every character so they can multiship or justify their m/f ships as queer and at that point I'd rather they just hc'd them as straight because I don't like seeing my identity used solely for the purpose of making a ship more queer because someone doesn't want their m/f to be a hetship.

So. Everyone seems to agree that Dive Back in Time is from CXS's POV, but I don't really think so?

Bear with me

(spoilers after the cut)

SO. UM. IT HAPPENED. THE THEORY EVERYONE HAS BEEN GOING APESHIT FOR.

And THAT's where I think the song is no longer meant to be in CXS's POV. I think it never was tbh, but it was always LG's song. I'm no interpreter (God I wish I was one of the theorists of Tumblr) so I'll just go through a few obvious points in order through the lyrics.

1.

"Without you, I don't know if I could take this road", "if only I had got it right before". While I think everything screams LG's POV these are the main-sentences in this part. W now know LG really cannot take "this road" (the timeline he was in) without CSX by his side. And the second one shows he's prolly very regretful for letting CXS die. Foreshadowing to it being his fault maybe? Hope not!!!

I'm not talking about the "chase you to the end of the world" lines, bc they're obvious enough. Come on.

2.

So... haha I hope it's not a surprise I'm a shiguang shipper.

Moving on: these lines are the main reason I thought the song is LG's. While the line "I'm always late to my fate" is kinda CXS coded (he's late to dying bc LG keeps saving him haha get it), the rest just screams LG and his silent love (be it wtv kind of love. Like even if you don't ship it you can't deny he loves him in some way. Would you rip the literal fabric of time and reality for someone you don't love).

"Here's to all the mistakes I never made" is pretty on the nose: he's gone back and fixed the stuff that caused CXS's death node to appear.

Now, the part that made me clarify I'm a shipper: "If it ain't for your misguided taste, I'd turn out so ordinary, fabulously un-addictively bore out my own brain". We all know LG's considered to be the more stoic rational one of the pair, and has probably always been like this. I believe CSX entering his life had such a big effect on him, he actually relaxed in some way or smth. I do not know the words to express this properly in English nor do I have any evidence of this, so I hope it makes enough sense.

Now this doesn't have to mean anything for the ship but I like being delusional.

3.

THIS. SO.

I believe he's saying this words to CXS when he's dead. He's probably like "well, I know I told you you shouldn't be messing with time and I'm gonna be a hypocrite but don't feel sorry for me I'm fine with anything as long as you're alive" (hence "I'll love where I'm going now"). " 'Cause I'm about to lose my mind" is simply him going apeshit for CXS's death to the point where he's decided to go back in time. You can't change my mind have you SEEN THE ANGER IN THIS DUDE WHEN CXS GOT SHOT ISTG-

4.

I know I said I was going in order and then left the chorus for the end but this screenshot has the last chorus so it counts :)

I think this is the main reason ppl believe it's meant to be CXS, and this is probably meant to be deceitful. We didn't know Lu Guang could go back in time after all, so it made it seem like it was CXS's words. Especially with "something secretive hidden inside your mind", which I don't truly have a theory for tehehe. But let's get back on track.

"All the heartaches and the smiles never faded, I know you'll be by my side when we make it" kinda seems like LG's telling that everything is fine after he's gone back, doesn't it? He's rewound CXS's existence, wich got him back to happy times; but he hasn't really moved on. His heart still hurts when he remembers what's gonna happen.

"I know you'll be by my side when we make it" is simply him being hopeful that the whole going-back-in-time plan will work. And maybe foreshadow to a happy ending? (please)

I probably didn't add anything new but I need to rant about this show a little bit 'cus i'm about to lose my mind *wink wink*

I love the trope of crazy old guy just does wtv the fuck he wants and all of the straightmen characters are just along for the ride. he reminds me a loooot of Murphy from Sealab 2021, if you’re a Sarge enjoyer you’ll like him fr. I don’t see him in really any ship I like but granted I’m also just like, not a big shipper? But yeah. silly grandpa and his machine gun car goes crazy every time no complaints. he knows how to die on the hill of a bit and I respect him for that

1 - Ok so this is a very general concept and we're not going to get until what this means for how they (both BSD and Mean Girls characters) act and develop in canon

2 - I thought of this while listening to the broadway tracklist lol

3 - Originally, I was going to make Janice be Chuuya and Dazai be Damian but that would mean no skk and we can't have that!! Aside from that, I feel like the only reason I made that choice was to give Chuuya protagonism so I came up with Janice being Yosano which lead me to Damian becoming Ranpo

4 - I'm not an AtsuLucy shipper but ykw it makes sense soo wtv

5- The original plastics were going to be Regina Akutagawa, Gretchen Higuchi and Karen uhhh Idk Tachihara or smth, my conflict was that while Gretchen Higuchi was very true for Regina Akutagawa it was very conflicting bc tbh I just don't feel like Akutagawa would be popular, not Regina popular, also if Tachihara was Karen I feel like it would greately mischaracterize him bc it takes a big brain to fool the PM the way he did.

I’m Eggo (Or Ego, wtv you want to call me), I use they/he pronouns, I’m wasian (Japanese and White) and I’m 16<3

I cannot believe I’m writing this in the year of our lord of 20-fucking-22 but here we go ig.

I am honestly SO disappointed at the Sandman fandom to learn Dreamling shippers are attacking Corintheus shippers. I am an exhasperated grandma who has seen countless fandoms be torn apart by shipping wars and I know, I know it’s naive and even stupid of me to expect this one to be different from the others, but that does literally nothing to temper the fact I am thoroughly disappointed over it. Shipping wars are the Dumbest form of discourse.

Look, I’ll be real with you: those who follow me know I’m a die hard Dreamling fan. Obsessed wouldn’t be too out of whack, and I don’t particularly enjoy the Corintheus ship, I prefer to see the Corinthian and Morpheus dynamic as father/son. So you know what I do?

I bloody ignore it. I see it often on my dash because I have friends here who love it, but I don’t even bother blacklisting it, I just scroll right past! It’s literally that easy, and with the blacklist app, it’s even easier!! There is no excuse whatsoever for attacking and cyberbullying the fans who enjoy that ship except out of pure vanity, spite and boredom. It’s a motherfucking ugly look to make someone feel bad for liking a ship and y’all should be ashamed.

If anyone who reads this practices abuse over ships, I urgently advise you to look within yourself and ask if this is really the kind of person you want to be. Is making someone sad over who they do or don’t ship really going to bring you happiness? Is it going to take away the joy you feel by engaging in your own preferred ship? Is it going to make you proud to have unnecessarily acted like an asshole? If the answer to all that is no, then just stop. Again:

Let people ship whoever they want to ship. Mind your own damn business. And blacklist that ship’s tags so you don’t have to see them. PLEASE. This fandom has been so sweet and chill, so help me try to keep it that way. Don’t ruin someone’s day to make yourself feel better. We should be united by our love of The Sandman’s universe, not fighting over niche spaces. You can discuss what you like or don’t like in a polite, calm and respectful manner. And if you still disagree at the end, it’s to each their own and we all go to our favorite corners and stay friends. Okay?

You like the Corintheus ship? Good.

You like the Dreamling ship? Good.

You like the Corinthian-Hob-Dream ship? Good!

Just chill and have fun. That’s all. Rant over or wtv.

My name is Vincent, my bday is on the 3rd Feb (I won't share my age yet but I'm a minor.)
