forgot that I haven't posted this yet <3 this is Warrick, she's a barbarian with amazing stats across the board EXCEPT for charisma. I get to start playing them tomorrow and I'm very excited. (They use He/She/They pronouns interchangeably also)
Ted: You know, you're like Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra in Anchors Aweigh.
Roy: We're fucking not!
Jamie: What the fuck is Anchors Aweigh?
Trent: It's a lovely musical about two young sailors who go on a shore leave to Hollywood and they fall for the same woman. And Gene Kelly gets to dance with Jerry which was a pretty big deal back in 1945.
Roy: I won't dance with fucking Jerry!
Ted: It's okay Roy, you can dance with The Muppets instead.
Did you see on TikTok they’re trying to get Elvis boycotted by using a movie clip of him in the movie Harum Scarum ☠️ Knowing full well he didn’t write that creepy “Hey Little Girl” song and was forced to star in these crappy movies by Colonel Parker
as previously noted i'm never on the clock app ever, but can everyone over there get a clue? 💀💀💀 i know they thrive on misplaced outrage, but be serious. (the more politically incorrect parts of that movie are cultural, which also isn't his fault). that scene is intended to be entirely innocent, i personally feel it speaks way more to the mindset of people who will twist it to make it dark in some way than it does to the scene itself. it's also far from the only little musical number like that in movies of the time, you have to consider the era and social mores and context. aren't they all tired of being obtuse and mad over nothing?
not only did he not write the songs, he didn't even have script approval, he was contractually obligated to make those movies while feeling unfulfilled without much say in the matter.
anyway if i dwell too much on this i'll get very upset about his movie career and the way he was treated like a walking cash register, but they should all read this:
One order of happiness...coming right up! 😉 This is pure joy, isn't it? Hope it gives you a smile, guys! Love you all! 😘 Gene Kelly & Jerry The Mouse, in "Anchors Aweigh" (1945). 🤍
