disciple luo binghe, running errands for his shizun one day, somehow manages to be in the exact wrong (right) place at the exact wrong (right) time and catches shang qinghua meeting with mobei jun

in order to keep luo binghe from tattling right away, shang qinghua dissembles in a panic and claims that his clandestine meetings with mobei jun are happening because they're lovers and definitely not because shang qinghua is betraying the sect and handing their secrets over to demons in order to save his own hide. when that almost doesn't work, he also tells luo binghe that he knows he's part demon, and that if luo binghe rats him out then shang qinghua will take him down with him. mutually assured destruction

it works, and even though luo binghe threatens him quite a bit (jeez kid calm down, you might be the almighty protagonist but also you're like sixteen) he agrees to keep shang qinghua's fraternizing a secret. but if ANYTHING BAD should happen to the sect or especially to luo binghe's shizun because of this, luo binghe will take shang qinghua down even if it does ruin his life too

shang qinghua, now sweating even more bullets about the impending immortal alliance conference: cool! cool cool cool sounds great cool yeah

so shang qinghua can add "being blackmailed by the punk ass brat I sort of created" to his list of stress-inducing woes. which gets even worse when luo binghe keeps somehow sensing if mobei jun is around for more than a couple hours and showing up, and picking fights with him?? kind of??

wtf has the protagonist been taking tips from liu qingge or something...?

shang qinghua feels like he's gonna have a heart attack when mobei jun just snorts and tosses luo binghe by the scruff like he's an annoying yappy dog

mobei jun actually knows what's up though. teenage half-demon who has never been around his own kind has become spoiled by the lack of competition on this front, and now his hackles are all up because he wants to claim the whole mountain range as his territory, and his instincts are screaming at him to challenge mobei jun about it so that they can decide who is actually top dog. since mobei jun could easily kill him, especially with his blood sealed, and has been clawing rocks and pissing on trees along the borders of an ding peak since before luo binghe was born, he's clearly got seniority here

and since qinghua doesn't want mobei jun to just kill the little shit (fair enough -- that sealed bloodline does look kind of interesting) that means it's up to mobei jun to teach him how to do things like interact with other demons without making a complete fool of himself. lesson one: what to do when you challenge someone out of your league and they win, assuming they don't just kill you

so luo binghe reluctantly gains another demon tutor

meng mo actually approves. he's been out of the loop on demon high society for a long time, and has lacked a body for long enough too that he's forgotten a lot of the particulars of socializing. it'll be good for luo binghe to pick up some manners that aren't just silly human tea ceremonies and things. maybe he'll start addressing meng mo more respectfully for a change!

luo binghe is partly like "I don't need to learn demon social skills since I'm spending the rest of my life as a disciple of qing jing peak" but partly like, well, if shizun knew about this and didn't freak out about it, he'd probably say that knowledge is power and learning how to handle politics and diplomacy of all kinds is important. and despite himself luo binghe is also interested, because this is a whole perspective on his own nature that he's never really gotten advice about

also, mobei jun is the lover of shang qinghua? mobei jun is a demon who successfully seduced a cang qiong peak lord? does he have any advice about that?

(he does -- all of it very bad)

anyway all of this sort of fucks up the immortal alliance conference developments really good, so the system kind of gives up and settles on some other big transformative achievements that luo binghe has to complete in order to be suitably heroic

but shen qingqiu has no idea and so the reprieve just seems to come out of nowhere until several years later, when he walks in on luo binghe with his claws out and huadian gleaming in the company the demon king of the northern desert, the two of them playing weiqi or something while they wait for shang qinghua to get back from some random logistics crisis he had to rush off to

shen qingqiu: ...?!?

luo binghe, panicking: wait shizun I can explain it's not what it looks like SHIZUN I SWEAR I WAS GOING TO TELL YOU PLEASE DON'T BE MAD--!

shen qingqiu: all this time I thought you were sneaking out to meet a girl, and this was what you were doing instead?!

luo binghe: WHAT?? shizun no I'd never do that I swear I don't even like girls!

shen qingqiu: that's not -- wait what do you mean you don't even like girls?!

mobei jun, unperturbed and still focused on the weiqi board: he's gay

Ok but God having a lightbulb for head making it easy to break whenever someone's had enough of "his" bullshit but the back of his throne being full of new fresh lightbulbs, leaving it to the people/creatures, even the ones that broke him in the first place, to replace it if they find the mercy and humility in their hearts to do so has to be one of the hardest and most creative metaphors for hope Ive seen in a Groening show

Vecna’s plan requiring Mike to leave for California means nothing. The number 1 following Mike cryptically at the airport means nothing. Them barely giving us Mike’s perspective the last two seasons (despite him being the original protagonist) means nothing and it isn’t setting up his POV to be revealed in s5 bc the entire audience is completely comfortable with where Mike stands as a character in regards to his deeper feelings/motives. No confusion there so no need to address that. Mike saying How will I survive a whole week without you guys at the start of s4 wasn't foreshadowing his fate at the end of said week. Mike standing in front of exit signs 3+ times in s4 is probably just a coincidence. Mike being associated with gaping mouths in multiple moments spanning the entire series, even going back to his very first line on the show, means nothing at all. Nancy’s vision about her family (Mike) dying was mentioned at the end of s4, but it didn’t happen so probably won’t ever happen, even though there’s still another season left set directly after the events of s4. Will calling Mike the heart and how without heart they’d all fall apart, was not in any shape form foreshadowing something happening to Mike and them all falling apart, bc Mike is definitely just a prop and everything in relation to his story only holds meaning on the surface or for other characters arcs and couldn’t possibly be hinting at something deeper that’s being saved as one of the many surprises for the last season.

#byler #stranger things #im sorry but ppl getting mad over speculation about mike and vecna is weird… especially when there's series long evidence… #like we know for a fact Will and vecna are facing off in s5 it's a given with the most basic ga being ready for it #it’s probably going to really come to a head in that final battle in the last two episodes #so early s5 and everything leading up to Will being confronted by vecna cant just be Will and vecna confronting each other over and over… #that would make their final confrontation anticlimactic #there’s a reason we keep seeing a chess board/dnd in relation to the events to come #bc EVERYONE is a piece in vecna’s game #EVERYONE plays a role in him reaching his main goal #back in 2019 if ppl heard max was a target or Nancy was a target in s4 they would’ve been confused #bc there’s little to no ties between the mindflayer and those characters #for a fact Will has more ties to vecna than them #HOWEVER them having no connection to vecna is not entirely true #vecna is connected to Max and Nancy’s trauma related to the person they lost because of him.. #and he used that against them to be 10 steps ahead so that he can lead up to reaching his final goal AKA WILL #he could have just got will 10 times already but he doesn't do it that way #we could’ve not had any of the events in s3-4 happen with random ass characters #BUT THE REALITY IS VECNA WANTS/NEEDS CANNON FODDER #he needs ppl that are just players in his game to overcome to eventually follow through with his plan #Mike arguably has fucked over vecna more than anyone #he’s also someone that both Will and El care for dearly #there’s a reason vecna's plan required the great big love triangle mishap in s4 #his plan literally depended on that miscommunication so that they would have a false win #like y’all just seem to want the most anticlimactic season with Will and vecna facing off only… #yes that Will happen and it will be some of the biggest moments of the season #but there's other stuff that's gotta happen... #and tbh will is going to be swamped with venca/lab revelations next season #them pounding us on the head with will is gay in s5 is going to feel repetitive as we've seen that four seasons in a row... #mike on the other hand...

Happy to finally be able to share new work!

Stepping a bit out of the comfort zone here with mechs. I always have been a fan of the Neil Blomkamp as a director and I wanted to bring the feeling from watching his movies in this character. I worked quiet a bit on this one, trying to make the shapes and structure read, a process I enjoyed much more than I thought I would.

Write up for this one: Loki decides to 'borrow' Thor's surfer van, Helga, (not realizing that Thor intentionally left the keys where Loki would find them and use them - after all, Thor's off on a trip with their dad) and invites his new friend/potential boyfriend on a trip to the beach on their spring break. Things might finally take a turn for the best where their flirting and occasional dates may have finally paid off during this trip.

finally finished all of one character's entire quests/optional dialogue/questions/etc.... 100,000 words... .... aughhh

#Given some of it IS lines of code and stuff but like.. minus all that it's still probably at least 85 - 95k words hhhhhh #AND I have to do this for another 3 characters. Then a few partial quests for 3 others. THEN the other random misc stuff in the game #(like there are public areas in the city like a park and a forest that you can go and do a few things at. and chat with a few random #townsfolk that aren't actually full characters or anything. And there's a community board where you can #browse some of the random job advertisments or silly things that happen to be posted around #and also pick up a few odd jobs of your own to help earn coin to buy gifts for the npcs. etc. etc.) #Originally I was thinking like 'ah I'll make a short little game just to try it out! :3 It'll take maybe a few months!'' #haha........................hee hee........................................hoho #Also evil that it would have been done already if I didn't totally drop itand stop working on it for like 5 years randomly #i could have made 5 years of steady slow progress gradually. instead of like 'one initial idea dump + about a month of art and writing' #...... 5 year break..... 'sudden mad dash to try to get probably 400.000 words written in a year or less' lol #I just really want to be done and have something out there already so it can lead to doing other things in my world..!!!!!! I think dialogue heavy interactive fiction/visual novel type stuff is pretty niche and considered #boring or tedious compared to something with more ''gamplay'' like where you can actually move around in a world #and shoot things or whatever lol. But its an inbetween point. something SLIGHTLY #more accesible for now. Since i just dont have the budget or means or ability to make some skyrim type thing obviously LOL #Though maybe if theres any interest in the visual novel that could lead to making other things too. or at least I hope. I have a VERY cool #idea for a more ''gamey'' type of game that is a super fun concept and etc. but I would need to hire at least 2 people to make it.. ough.. #I could do all the writing and probably half of the art. Love your jedi healer au and now I can’t stop laughing at bb!anakin walking into walls because he’s new to the blindfold and not used to using the force to get around yet

(the only other healer anakin au post, but i did make it a tag because im still thinking about it)

baby anakin keeps ripping the blindfold off in anger to frown accusingly up at his new jedi healer master because this SUCKS (he feels so much in the force even as a baby that if he lets himself go, he feels too much of the things around him that it makes it harder to see than it would for a normal jedi)

So basically for a few months his jedi healer master just walks behind him constantly to gently steer him out of the way of oncoming, stationary objects and also keep the blindfold around his eyes

(Bb anakin, thinking he’s being clever and pushing it up so he can see the droid parts in front of him so he can put them together faster: hehehehe
