You Don't Need a Menu
Yang: What time is it going to be?
Ruby: Oh yeah. If we're going to be here all night we might want to order food.
Jaune: Chinese okay?
Yang: Yeah Chinese works.
Ruby: Sounds good.
Jaune: Lets do ming moon's. They close in five minutes so just tell me what you want to order and I'll call it in.
Weiss: I'll have the general so's combo.
Ruby: Uh sorry do they have a menu?
Jaune: I mean yeah presumably. But its a chinese food restaurant so they have chinese food.
Ruby: Okay let me just look at the menu and I'll decide what I want.
Jaune: Okay well they aren't on yelp so there is no menu but they have chinese food. You wouldn't need a menu for ordering pizza.
Ruby: Wait were getting pizza? Now I definitely need to see a menu.
Jaune: *Slams his table* No! We're not getting pizza. We have exactly four minutes until this place closes. We're not getting pizza and even if we were none of you should need a menu. Right? You know what kind of toppings you like, every place has the same toppings, and you should know generally what you like by now. Look, you've had chinese food before.
Ruby: Uh um I don't know I'm not sure!
Jaune: You're not sure???
Yang: Come to think of it I really want to see a menu too. Because what if I want to change things up?
Jaune: Yang, you can live in some magical universe where you try something new and make new and exciting decisions but we all know you're getting the steamed beef and broccoli fried rice and an egg roll like you do every time and Blake is getting the chicken lo mein.
Blake: Leave me out of this!
Weiss: What if they don't have general so's?
Jaune: They have general so's or something like it.
Ruby: But what if they don't?
Weiss: What if they don't, though?
Jaune: I promise you that they will have general so's or something like it.
Ruby: I just don't know what I want unless I pick it off a menu.
Jaune: Okay. Alright. Fine. Using the power of your imagination construct a menu in your mind's eye consisting of all the things you've ordered from chinese places in your entire life. Then using that mental menu, tell me what the fuck you want to order!
Yang: What if they don't have dumplings?
Ruby: What if they don't have dumplings, what then?
Jaune: As the gods as my witness they will have dumplings.
Weiss: But are they on the menu because it would be really rude to ask if it's not on the menu.
Jaune: Menus are for cowards and simpletons Weiss. Persons of character look in their heart and know what they want to order.
Ruby: So you always know what you want to order?
Jaune: I haven't looked at menu for ten years.
Ruby: Bullshit!
Jaune: Try me.
Yang: Tai food?
Jaune: Chicken pad krapraw.
Weiss: Indian?
Jaune: Chicken marsala with garlic knots.
Ruby: Italian?
Jaune: Chicken parm.
Yang: They're out of chicken parm.
Jaune: Feduccini alfredo.
Yang: Go to hell!
Jaune: You first.
Weiss: Genie grants you three wishes?
Jaune: Worlds greatest sorcerer, new magic lamp, freedom for the first genie.
Ruby: You're at a diner where you can mix and match. Menu is ten pages.
Jaune: Cheeseburger deluxe medium well bacon and grilled onions and wafflefries. If they don't have that, curly fries. If they don't have that, regular fries. And a chocolate godsdamned milkshake.
Weiss: You're going to give yourself a heart attack!
Jaune: You're going to give me a heart attack. Two minutes!
Ruby: So what? You order the same meal every time?
Jaune: I order the best meal every time.
Yang: You can't have a cheese burger for breakfast!
Jaune: Can too!
Weiss: What if you're not in the mood for a cheese burger?!
Jaune: Then I'd be in the mood for a cheddar omelette with two slices of plain white toast and a cup of coffee with some hashbrowns on the side. And you know what?! I wouldn't need a menu to know it!
Weiss: So you only have two moods? Is that it?
Jaune: Two moods is more than enough for anyone!
Ruby: You're insane!
Jaune: One minute!
Weiss: General so's combo.
Ruby: Wanton soup.
Yang: Beef and broccoli with steamed rice and an egg roll.
Blake: Chicken lo mein.
Jaune: I knew it you slime!
Jaune: *into his scroll* I'll have a number one, a number three, a number five, a number seven, and a wanton soup and an eggroll for pick up. Have a great night. *hangs up*
Jaune: You mother fuckers!
Yang: You know technically an egg roll is a sandwich.
Jaune: Oh go to hell.

I would love the Getting to Know Eddie prompt for EIG Eddie. Which I know you haven’t ported over yet but I’m a sucker.
Oh, dear Jo, I will happily talk about Exile in Guyville Eddie - He'll be coming to this blog eventually with updates.
Jo's Eddie Ask Game
What story is he from? What kind of story is it (Fix-it fic, Older!Eddie, Rockstar!Eddie etc)?
Exile in Guyville is a story that takes place in the canon timeline, except that Eddie (eventually) recovers from his injuries. He's older, but not old. It's 1995, so Eddie is 29, and our reader is ~20.
What inspired you to write this Eddie?
I knew Eddie would be special when I watched the show as it aired. He spoke to me. I wanted to be him. There was a lot of gender envy happening. It was also a very traumatic summer for me for a few reasons, so he imprinted on my psyche.
Also, it is very, very important to me that Eddie Munson is based on Damien Echols. Exile in Guyville Eddie is absolutely written with the real man in mind.
What are your favorite headcanons about him/share something you never shared in your story?
I think Eddie is a very musically talented person. I headcannon him being able to play the piano, which is something I share with @br0ck-eddie. I also think that a family member, maybe a grandmother (?) taught him to love the guitar. ALSO, along the same vein, I think the Munson family are Indiana transplants, and there are a lot more in West Virginia/Kentucky/Pennsylvania. We're talking real hillfolk.
What does he wear on a casual day? On a dressier day? What does he wear to bed?
On a casual day? Jeans and a t-shirt with boots. On a dressier day? Nice jeans, a black button up, and boots - with black eyeliner. To bed? Boxers or nothing.
Favorite foods?
A really good sandwich with Lay's potato chips crushed between the mayo and cheese and Duke's mayonnaise. We're talking lettuce, tomato, freshly sliced chicken breast/turkey breast/roast beef, with sharp cheddar/muenster/swiss cheese, pickles. The whole nine yards.
Also, chicken and dumplings.
Tell Us About His Family/Friends
EIG Eddie makes friends easily, but he doesn't actually have many people he considers friends. He maintains those old relationships and holds them closely. Robin, Nancy, Steve, and all the kids. They're family in the way that he didn't really have when he was younger. The years he spent making music professionally, he made 2 lasting relationships.
He stays close to Wayne up until the day he leaves the world.
Yeah Yeah, he's a Metalhead. Tell Us MORE About His Taste in Music in your story
EIG Eddie knows a whole lot about music, because he made it his business to know. He enjoys listening to music that tells the truth, and makes his butt clench. Genre is irrelevant.
This is NOT true of canon Eddie, I'm only talking about EIG Eddie who has spent a lot of time growing and learning. He's leant his talent to all different kinds of musicians.
What are his views on romance? On sex?
EIG Eddie has had many relationships over the years. He loves hard, and he doesn't hold back. He understands that things end, but he also knows the value of a good thing. It's ok if it ends, as long as he doesn't miss out on the thing.
On sex? He likes it. He likes it a lot. It's not the most important thing, but it is a real joy in his life.
Is he optimistic or pessimistic?
Neither. He's a realist.
Where or with whom is he most comfortable?
Robin and Nancy. He's very close to them in that story.
What are his views of his future? What are his hopes/dreams?
Eddie hopes to be able to continue to live his life in his own way. He dreams of spending his days with the records and his nights listening to good live music.
What do you imagine his future looks like? (If your story is incomplete or if this would be a spoiler you're not willing to share, you can skip this question.)
Full of joy and pain, but ultimately happy.
Anything else you'd like us to know about your Eddie/your story?
Eddie is smart as hell. I think canon Eddie could eventually get his GED, go to community college, and then get a 4 year degree. I don't necessarily think that's something he would choose to do, but I see him being capable of that - given the right motivation.
There's a lot more I could say about this Eddie, or any other Eddie. Ask me anything, and I'll give you an answer.
Optional Vulnerable Question: Why do you write fics for Eddie Munson?
Because he deserves to live on in a million different stories. I love him very much.
Tagging: @dr-aculaaa @hellfirenacht @powderblueblood @raccoonboywrites
But really, anyone can play.

Vegans in Warsaw - Wegańska Warszawa
An "old" reborn chapter of my blog: vegan places in Warsaw. Earlier I mentioned several places of Polish capital which are either 100% vegan or serve vegan options, and here is another one.
! menu in EN/PL and my order is below
The first place in 2023 is "OCHO", address: Mikołaja Reja 9. There are plenty vegan options but it does have non-vegan meals as well so if it triggers you, don't go there. My rationale is 1) it's impossible to ignore/avoid all places which are not 100% vegan and 2) supply-demand works and the increasing interest/need from vegans is always good.
If you think the same and you are a curious foodie who are done with "proper" meals for vegans, aka smoothies and salads, definitely go to OCHO. It shares the same building with the "Ochota Theater" and it has a very colourful interior.
Tumblr media
What they have 😋 in PLN, Polish currency. I translate only vegan and vegetarian options.
I. Breakfasts:
Vegan toast with kimchi, cheddar, tomatoes, vegan mayo, nori, crispy onion, and chives - 31 PLN
Shakshuka (vegan option with avocado) with bread - 33 PLN
"Marble" pancakes, coating with white chocolate and matcha, whipped cream, and lychee (vegetarian) - 32 PLN
Vegan Okonomiyaki (Japanese savoury pancakes) with coriander mayo, Japanese mayo kewpie, pickles, sesame seeds, chives, and coriander - 29 PLN. served only on weekend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
II. Main dishes:
Silesian sweet potato dumplings with chanterelle sauce, lemon thyme, mustard (vegetarian gluten-free) - 31 PLN
Pumpkin dumplings with peanut butter, edamame, pak choy, soy-sesame and lemongrass chili sauces (vegetarian) - 31 PLN
Vegan kimchi fries with vegan teriyaki beef, cheese sauce, gochujang mayo, chive mayo, coriander, and chives - 39 PLN
Pumpkin red curry ramen with tofu and eggs in mirin and soy sauce, carrots, cucumbers, sesame seeds, peanuts, and chives (vegetarian) - 36 PLN
Vegan cheeseburger with plum jam, caramelised red onion and lemon thyme, pickles, garlic mayo, coriander mayo + coleslaw - 39 PLN (option with fries +8 PLN)
Taco with vegan beef, ancho red beans paste, pickles, cheese sauce, corn, jalapeño mayo (vegetarian) - 34 PLN
Bao with vegan chicken in gochujang sauce, kimchi, Japanese mayo kewpie, mustard (vegetarian) - 39 PLN
Vegan Bowl: ancho red beans paste, sweet potatoes, pickles, nachos with cheese sauce, peppers, jalapeño mayo - 35 PLN
Vegan Seitan with potato puree, crispy onions, and fried cabbage - 45 PLN (traditional veganised Polish dish)
Vegan Corn Dog with jalapeño mayo, ketchup, and cucumbers - 32 PLN
Tumblr media
What I ordered... Honestly, my first intention was okonomiyaki but they run out of it so I ordered vegan kimchi toast with black coffee and it was an amazing choice 😌 You might say it's a simple toast but it was not a simple toast it was TOAST, the king of all toasts. I am writing it, and I feel this melting cheese in my mouth. The bread... mmm 😋 what can be compared to a nice crispy bread. It was heaven. I did not regret my choice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The only downside was that we were waiting for a long time to get our food because there were so many people. On the other hand, it just proves how popular this place is and now I know why. Recommend recommend 💜
p.s. if you have other vegan places in mind which I need to go, please let me know.
LOTS of delicious FOOD to all fo you

Good morn/noon/evening/after-you-woke-up! Now, I want you to imagine we are in a beige and light oak dressed kitchen, theres a plastic bowl artfully place on the island you bump your toes and hips on, and in that plastic bowl is plastic fruit, and on that plastic fruit is a decades worth of dead skin dust built up. It smells like vanilla perfume from the dollar store. On the 32-inch TV screen PBS is playing episodes of the coming of age drama 'Arthur'. We're cooking 'Stones Inna Swamp' from the Redwall Cookbook- And now a word from us kids…
(You can find the original recipe at the bottom if you’d like to follow along)-
MY NAMES CROSS NOW LETS COOK LIKE ANIMALS
SO, “what goes in to a Stones Inna Swamp?” YOU MIGHT ASKWELL for ya soup base-
White beans
Kidney beans
Vegetable oil
Onion
Celery stalks
Garlic
Sliced mushrooms
Green bell peppers
Vegetable stock
Chopped tomatoes
Parsley
Paprika
Salt and pepper
Canned beans might work well if you dont want to soak overnight, just thoroughly rinse and dry them first. And for ya dumplin's-
Rolled oats
Breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
Parsley
Margarine
Cheddar Cheese
Do be careful making these, the dish caked to the pan like ive never seen anything before.
AND, “what does Stones Inna Swamp taste like?” YOU MIGHT ASK
Its a, it feels like adult babyfood, almost?
The 'dumplings'- they taste like meatballs??
This recipe would probably taste better with Regular Meatballs but these are mice so its understandable
Theres less liquid at the end than the 'swamp' name would imply
Texture similar to a mash
Most flavor comes from the aromatic ingredients
Could deal with a bit more spice
The vegetables could also go for a nice sear or roast beforehand
Pairs well with a gelatin desert and sparkly water
The dish your white parent makes when they do something 'experimental'
. The dumplings dont have a measurement for the salt, I did what felt right and I'd say it came out to maybe ¼ cup salt? . Water measurement for dumplings is way way too little, do the tablespoons and then also half cup. . Where margarine called for, used butter
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It gives off the air of when your children complain about taco tuesdays, but they cant cook for themselves and your partner refuses to learn, so you pick something out from pinterest that says "Healthy Veggie Sunday Dinner Done in 10 Minutes!". Its not bad in the traditional sense, its bad in the sense that it brings not much good. This may partially be a neurodivergent thing but the amount of soft textures just fucks with my brain.
I feel like I'm eating joker mush. The cheese is a nice touch though!
From start time to serving time, it took about 2 hours, but that could be cut down with experience. I would highly recommend either cooking the parsley dumplings separately and then adding per serving, or serving and eating immediately, because they Will get soggy and they Will fall apart over time.
The flavor itself is very nice and savory, the more salt  you add the more itd taste like meat I think! As usual, please do feel free to add more spices than listed. I could see smoked paprika, cumin, and sautéd spinach going enhancing this a fair bit. I think if I were to make this in the future i would fry the dumplings before adding them in with the soup, to give it more texture and 'body'.
I give this recipe a wham-bam-ghost-you-ma'am of 3/10 (with 1 being food that makes one physically sick and 10 being food that gives one a lust for life again.) And now back to our show...
🐁 ORIGINAL RESIPPY TEXT BELOW 🐁
Bean Soup Ingredients:
1/2 cup dried white beans
1/2 cup dried kidney beans
4 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups (1 large) sliced onion
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 1/2 cups (4 ounces) sliced mushrooms
2 green bell peppers, seeded and chopped
1 cup vegetable stock (or 1 cup water and 1/2 cube vegetable bouillon)
1 can (14 ounces) chopped tomatoes
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper, to taste
Parsley Dumpling Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup breadcrumbs (preferably whole wheat)
2 teaspoons chopped parsley
1/4 cup margarine
1/2 cup grated Cheddar cheese
Soup Method:
To make the soup, soak the dried beans in water overnight.
Drain the soaked beans and transfer them to a large pot. Add water to cover and bring to a boil. Boil the beans for 15 minutes, then reduce the heat and simmer until the beans are completely cooked, 40 to 50 minutes more. Drain.
In a large, preferably nonstick frying pan over medium heat, warm the oil. Add the onion, celery and garlic and cook, stirring, for 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and peppers and cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 more minutes.
Add the beans, stock, tomatoes, parsley and paprika. Season with salt and pepper.
Bring to a boil, cover partially, and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Dumplings Method:
To make the dumplings, stir together the oats, breadcrumbs, parsley and salt in a bowl. Add the margarine and rub it into the dry ingredients with your fingers until evenly distributed. Stir in 2 to 3 tablespoons of cold water, until the mixture just forms a dough.
Form the dough into twelve 1 '/2-inch round dumplings. Add the dumplings to the bean mixture and reduce the heat to low. Simmer, covered, turning the dumplings after 10 minutes, until they are cooked through, another 20 to 25 minutes.
Sprinkle with the grated cheese and serve.
