GI Blues Review

This film will be held independent of Elvis' behind the scenes situation. To maintain a certain level of fairness, I'm only going to judge the film based on what we're given and not compare it to other films he made. I will at least make a note of problematic scenes by modern standards, but will ultimately judge it as if I'm watching it when it was first released.

You know I had to include this. There's also a legitimate reason why I added this. The beginning of the film is basically just "this is Tulsa, his friends and his superior officer". We get a chance to learn about these characters and how they interact with each other. We get to know that Tulsa is bad at giving back money, is kind of a snarky sarcastic person, and constantly wants the Sgt.'s money to fund his own desire to own a nightclub.

We also know that Tulsa is good with women giving us the idea that he's a playboy type willing to do whatever it takes to be with a girl. The tavern scene shows how he's willing to do what it takes to get an audition, but he actually has talent when he sings. The songs he does sing do its job of saying "Elvis is back but different this time, also we're in Germany". The owner's impressed and gives him the $300. The Sgt. wants his cut but Tulsa legitimately offers him a partnership deal for their nightclub, demonstrating his shrewd but legal business practices. We see that his offer is legit when we see the Sgt. sign a contract. Even when he got in a fight with another soldier, he did pay the owner for the damage and express regret for breaking his glass door.

The plot gets interesting here with the concept of a bet between two groups of soldiers about getting a night alone with a cold dancer named Lili. I hate the concept of a woman being cold just because she doesn't want to date a guy. The fact that the soldiers are willing to bet money on one of them being with her shows they don't see women as actual people, but an opportunity for financial gain. They originally have Dynamite, a member of Tulsa's squadron, do it. Tulsa had nothing to do with the bet other than contributing his own money in the event that winning would mean getting enough money to get the nightclub.

When Dynamite gets transferred to Alaska for getting in trouble with some German fathers, Tulsa doesn't volunteer to take his place. It takes a lot of convincing from the guys and the threat of losing his money to get him to agree. He didn't want to do it, because he doesn't want to use his skills at wooing women to be used that way. This is interesting because even though he's willing ogle at a girl that shows interest in him and was willing to bet money too, he respects women enough to not date them for the sake of the bet itself. It's interesting how his actions have layers to them. As for Frankfort Special, this song doesn't add anything. There's no reason for a song to be here other than "it's just a song the soldiers want to sing to pass time". It's not bad, but it's skippable.

I immediately feel better about how the bet plot is being executed. You could've easily had Tulsa take Cookie's role of just lying and exaggerating his accomplishments to impress Lili. Tulsa singing Shoppin' Around doesn't standout but it does the job of him just singing a song to fulfill the paid request that he didn't even make. He could've just followed Cookie's lead and maintain the lies he told. Instead, Tulsa basically tells Cookie to go away and lets Lili take charge of where they want to go. He also immediately tells Lili that everything Cookie said was just bunk and that he was nothing but a low class guy from a Cherokee family.

Lili tells the truth too by saying she just wanted to get away from the grabby customer so she wouldn't have to apologize. This is a real problem that exists today so good for the movie to let Lili essentially get away with what she did. Lili isn't cold at all with Tulsa here. So far, she's the one that invited him to get something to eat and also enjoyed the song Tulsa sang in the restaurant. Tonight's So Right For Love is a typical Elvis ballad, but it still sounds nice. It also shows that Tulsa isn't just doing this to impress Lili, he was asked to explain what "ooze" meant. Lili doesn't fall in love with him here, but she doesn't have to yet.

It makes sense because it works with her conversation with Tulsa on stereotypes. He says that people should get to know someone before making assumptions, a message that actually fits the movie well. So far Tulsa hasn't been the playboy we thought he was going to be, nor has Lili been as cold as the other soldiers said she was. These are just two adults living their own lives and wanting to just exist in the same space together, not as lovers but just friends. And they both seem to be ok with that.

Unrelated, but Cookie and Tina's relationship is pointless. You didn't need Lili to have a roommate to have the story work. Sure it's a comedy, but it isn't important to the plot to have Cookie get a love interest or give Lili a roommate. You can have Lili say she has to go to bed to get ready for tomorrow. Tulsa not wanting to push himself on her, can mention getting a pass and wanting to go sightseeing asking if she can show him around. It's still the same outcome of the soldiers getting made at Tulsa for not being with her, but it's written in a way that contributes to the plot.

This was a great way to show the progression of Lili and Tulsa's relationship. You can tell that there's chemistry between the two but Lili doesn't want things to go too fast. Even though Tulsa does try to show Lili that he's interested in being more than just friends, he doesn't completely blow her off when she just wants to tell him trivia about German tourist attractions and landmarks. He respects what she has to say and is willing to let her take him places. The stereotype of her being cold is a serious problem that exists even to this day and the fact that this was the basis of the entire bet shows how the soldiers didn't view her as a woman with feelings.

However, I like the way we see Tulsa and therefore the movie address this. The burden is on Tulsa to show Lili that he's perfectly ok with just going sightseeing with her. He doesn't have an agenda or plans to woo her at this point. If he did, he wouldn't have taken her to the puppet show and sang in front of the children. The puppet show scene shows how Tulsa doesn't care about possibly making a fool of himself if it means keeping the children happy. He didn't get paid for doing it and Lili didn't "reward" him for his kindness. Wooden Heart is a lovable song that isn't supposed to be mind blowing or heartwarming. It's just a song meant to entertain children and makes sense to include here. This isn't something thrown in just to have Elvis sing, there's actual build up and has an effect on Tulsa's relationship with Lili.

This whole sequence is beautiful. We see how Lili falls for Tulsa by just enjoying the little things with him. Tulsa didn't have to do anything over the top to win Lili here. Pocketful of Rainbows is a beautiful song that for once, is a duet. Lili is a lovely singer and it would make sense for her to bond with Tulsa this way. He just sings a song with her and enjoys traveling around seeing the sights with her. I love how we see that Lili is not the cold woman the soldiers said she was. She's only cold because she wants to keep herself safe from grabby customers that won't say no. I love that the movie goes the length of showing that she has her reasons for keeping her distance and that she's also willing to give Tulsa a chance.

This scene also reflects who Tulsa really is. He doesn't consider himself as being a nice guy who deserves to have Lili just because he doesn't flirt with her the way other guys do. He's willing to be with her knowing that she doesn't owe him her time or anything more than just a tour. We see how he cares about her feelings when he's contemplating being in a bet knowing that he actually loves Lili. Tulsa shows his morality by wanting to call off the bet knowing that if Lili finds out, it would break her heart. A stereotypical Elvis film wouldn't have had that emotional maturity to have Elvis' character think about the consequences of his actions.

Throughout the film, another friend of Tulsa's, Rick, is trying to get back together with his girlfriend Marla. She has a baby boy and didn't want to see him because she thought he cheated on her. She had her landlady protect her secret by refusing to tell him where she lived. I'm not complaining about this plot point, I think it works to set up why Tulsa has to babysit. Only thing I have to say is, if Marla had that good of a relationship with her landlady, why couldn't she babysit for them? If they just had a line saying the landlady was out of town after she did her job to reconcile the couple, it would make more sense for Tulsa to take on this role.

I do appreciate how from the very beginning he admits that he doesn't know what he's doing. He at least tries to calm down the baby who he calls "Tiger" since Marla never named him. He tries to get the milk but breaks the bottle. How only the contents inside the fridge fell on the floor like that, I have no clue. I think it would've been funnier if he pulls the handle so hard, it breaks off. Again same result, but a different path. Him calling Lili isn't contrived because even though he broke off their date and gave her space, he didn't have anyone else to turn to. Plus, Lili gives him permission to come over instead of him just forcing himself on her. It shows with 100% certainty that she still loves Tulsa even though he broke off their date. She could've easily thought he was lying just to be with her, but she didn't. If anything, she seemed excited to be with him from the very beginning. She really loves him just like he loves her.

Big Boots is adorable. I almost cried from this song it was that touching. This is Tulsa McLean. He's not just a snarky, sarcastic playboy type. He genuinely wants to do his best to take care of the baby. He didn't know what to do so he listened to Lili and sang "Tiger" a lullaby. He didn't think it was embarrassing, he just didn't know what would be appropriate to sing as a lullaby.

You would think that Tulsa purposely waking him up just to stay with Lili would be manipulative but Lili's reaction to the baby crying says otherwise. She was over the moon with happiness to know that Tulsa wouldn't be leaving. My main problem is that Cookie keeping Tina away from the apartment is pointless. If the bet was to have Tulsa be with Lili alone, then he failed. The baby was with them the whole time meaning they weren't alone. I know the soldiers and Cookie doesn't know that, but when it's brought up later, it means that Tulsa shouldn't have won that bet. He was with the baby and Lili so he failed to be alone with her, meaning he lost the bet.

When I first saw this film, I thought the ending was rushed in that it introduced some last second drama, only to have it be immediately resolved. After looking over my notes again, it makes sense why this scene happened. Earlier in the film, Dynamite was transferred for getting in trouble with German fathers, setting a precedence. When one of the commanding officers heard about Tulsa and the bet, that preceding action was called into play, making it necessary to at least question Tulsa's intent. He was never charged with a crime, so once Lili was able to clear his name by verifying his story, the matter was over.

Lili finding out about the bet also made sense since she saw some soldiers getting paid right after Tulsa left her place. Even though Tulsa has previously explained that he needed to babysit for his friend, she had no way of knowing if this friend set it up that way. She needed to see "Tiger" and Marla to find out that Tulsa was telling the truth. Normally the lie about the bet would've been revealed at the beginning of act 3. She would've thought Tulsa needing her help with the baby was a lie so she would say no to him, only to later realize he was telling the truth when she sees Tiger and Marla at the end. The movie not falling into that trap of cliche writing was a pleasant surprise.

I like the way the film ends with one final song that makes sense given the context. Having Tulsa sing Didja Ever doesn't feel like it was thrown in just so Elvis could sing right before the end credits. We knew about the Air Force show way before it was shown and that Tulsa wanted to perform there. This scene feels like we got to see a conclusion to Tulsa's character arc. He got his chance to perform at the show and managed to get Lili. It's even implied that because the show was such a big success, Tulsa might get a chance at getting that night club.

What makes this ending work even more, is that Tulsa actually earns his happy ending. He proves himself as a likable protagonist by showing his morals throughout the film. Even though he was shrewd with the Sgt. he had the Sgt. sign a legitimate contract making him a partner. When he's met with conflict at the end, he remains humble and honest. We want him to succeed because when others think he's lying about why he was with Lili and about the bet, we see that he was in the right. We see how he had no idea how to handle the baby and how from the beginning was hesitant about being a part of the bet. It was because of his honesty that Rick, Marla and Lili were able to vouch for his honor, getting him out of trouble.

This movie summarizes what Tulsa said earlier in the film about how the world would be a better place if we didn't judge others based on stereotypes. The film at face value looks like a prototype of the typical Elvis vehicle where Elvis plays playboy that wants to get the girl no matter what. GI Blues doesn't play into those stereotypes by giving Tulsa an actual backstory and desires outside of wanting to be with Lili. Lili isn't a stereotype either by having a reason for being cold and actually falls for Tulsa because of the little things they did together.

Since I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable this film was, I give an 8 out 10. It won't win any awards nor did I expect it to. The plot isn't groundbreaking and there were some plot holes, but it wasn't enough to take me out of the film. If you like Elvis films, this is definitely worth rewatching. If you're new to the fandom, this is a good film to introduce yourself to what to expect from an Elvis vehicle. Even if you're not an Elvis fan, this is still a good way to spend about 2 hours.

"Crazy Legs, an album he recorded in 1993 with the Big Town Playboys, was a spectacularly authentic homage to the guitarist Cliff Gallup who played with Gene Vincent on his first two albums, Bluejean Bop! (1956) and Gene Vincent And The Blue Caps (1957).

“Cliff Gallup’s guitar playing was absolutely phenomenal,” Beck said at the time. “His solos are so packed with dynamite on the wild numbers, and yet they’re full of knowledge and fluidity, melodic as hell.”

Beck’s command of the old-school finger-picking, rockabilly style employed by Gallup set him apart from the other rock guitar heroes of his – or indeed any – generation. As he continued to move through genres – from jazz rock to the more experimental sounds of electronica and 21st-century production methods – he never stopped improving, refining and exploring a playing style that gradually became little short of supernatural. "

"By the time he reached the new millennium, Beck could acquit himself with distinction in virtually any musical environment. He was an incredible slide guitarist, as evidenced by his astonishing performance of the Nitin Sawhney composition Nadia captured on Beck’s album You Had It Coming (2000), in which he returned to his instrumental brief and extended it to encompass the realms of electronica, drum & bass, you name it."

Beck’s 2010 album Emotion And Commotion (which netted him two more Grammys) found him stretching out in more unexpected directions (neo-classical, orchestral, soul) in the company of various singers including Joss Stone and Imelda May. Soon after it was released, May joined him at a special concert at the Iridium, New York in honour of guitar legend Les Paul. One of the songs they performed that night, a version of Remember (Walking In The Sand), a sixties hit by the ShangriLas, was a performance beyond compare.

“He inspired, supported and encouraged me with every whoop, cheer, gasp and tear when I sang with him,” May wrote on social media soon after the news of Beck’s death broke. “He was the genius in the room yet he made everyone else around him feel special. He was dedicated to making pure art. Every single note he played could kill me with its beauty. His light was so blindingly bright it already feels dark without him. The greatest guitarist that ever lived. The finest friend you could wish for. Thank you Jeff Beck.”

Necklace- Wardlow

"My hand makes a beautiful necklace."

I had to write this blurb which is based on a dream I had lol

607 words (is that too long for a blurb?)

It was an offhanded comment, one simply made in passing that should have been quickly forgotten about, yet here I find myself in this situation.

I was in the hotel room getting ready to head to the arena for a Dynamite taping when I felt cool hands wrap around my waist. I looked in the mirror to see my boyfriend of three months, Michael standing there with a lazy grin on his face. “Almost ready?” He asked me and I nodded.

My outfit was pretty much the standard for work. It was a blazer along with a patterned shirt underneath and I had a pair of black work pants on. The only thing different was that I didn’t wear heels (they gave me blisters) I instead wore my Converse. As a commentator, I had to make sure I looked the part of someone in my job position but I also added in flairs of my own personal style. I usually added a few pins to my blazer like I had one that says “Adult (or so I thought), and one that said “Ms. Mayhem” on it for Michael.

I was pulled out of my stupor by my boyfriend who pressed a kiss onto my cheek, tickling me with his beard. We locked eyes in the mirror but then I saw his eyes drift down to my chest.

“Is that a new necklace?” He asked me and I hummed. It was a rabbit on a gold chain, but it wasn’t any old rabbit; it was the Playboy Bunny. I owned a few things from Playboy, like a sweater, and of course, lingerie but the necklace was an interesting purchase to him because I don’t like jewelry all that much. If I wear any it's usually my bracelet with my name on it and my Claddagh ring that my parents got for me. “I like it.” He complimented as he straightened out the chain on it.

“Well, I think your hands would make a better necklace.” I teased and broke out of his hold. I grabbed my purse and walked towards the door before I was suddenly swung around, and came face to face with my boyfriend. His hand found my chin and he gripped it firmly, not enough to hurt but enough to get me to look at him.

“Say it again.” He demanded, a certain glint in his eyes that I knew all too well; he was daring me. Daring me to say that teasing phrase once again. My inner good girl wanted to please him and say that phrase that he was so desperate to hear but my inner brat told me to make him work for it.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” I replied with an innocent grin on my face that was quickly wiped away when I felt his hand go right where I wanted it. “Hmm, I’m sure you don’t after all you’re just a dumb bunny. But I think you might be right about one thing, my hand makes a beautiful necklace.” He turned me back towards the mirror and I couldn’t help the whine that escaped as I saw myself encased in his grip, one hand on my waist and the other around my neck, not squeezing hard but it was firm enough for me to get that dizzying feeling I had been craving.

“Not now bunny. Maybe later.” He teased and let go of my neck as if he hadn’t been five seconds away from fucking me stupid. ‘Oh, I’m gonna get him back for this,’ I thought to myself as we made our way out of the hotel room.

You said that the bts honeymoon fase faded and you started to see that bts were not as perfect as you thought. Can I ask when it started to fade. Because I can relate to you, I think the honeymoon fase faded around the Dynamite area.

I also wonder if long term fans have also experienced this or not, because there aren't many people who talk about it. I feel like a lot of people have this wrapped up image of bts that doesn't fit the boy. The jk playboy or jin narcissist thing for exemple. I also don't like how the Fandom romanticizes certain flaws of the boys. When namjoon and tae couldn't cook for themselves in the soop some armies found it cute, me not so much.

Are there any instances where you feel the same?

I've discovered BTS around late May 2020 and the honeymoon period ended probably when Butter came out. At least that's when the process started. I remember being excited at first because I saw the concept teasers and I was intrigued. The connections to pop art, the 80s vibe, those photos that hinted to an end of messy party. It looked fun and I also thought that the song itself could be some sort of commentary on pop. Alas, it didn't happen and I learned my lesson. Don't make theories out of concept photos, nothing comes out in the final product. And then slowly I got back to other interests that I had on hold because I didn't feel the need to consume only BTS content. But to this day, I still keep up with it, daily, except I don't get some serotonin boost because of it. I miss the Run episodes. That's something that I always liked about BTS because as I said many times, they're also entertainers and they do a good job.

It's unfortunate that for some fans, the members are still stuck in these narrow boxes that are far from reality, at least the one we're able to see on screen. I've never romanticized any of them. But it's true that in the beginning, as in any relationship, we don't really see any flaws and all seems perfect. The stage that I find myself in right now is that of acknowledging that no one is perfect, that it's normal to see them as human beings that do and say stuff that I may not like, but I don't have any control over that and it's not my life. Why should I expect or think that 7 men, as nice as they appear to be, are somehow superior to any other person I met in my life, or artists that I like, or including myself? But these thoughts come with time, especially after as a fan, I managed to listen to their music, watch as much content as there is out there. Once that is settled in, then it's maybe ''easier'' to look at the big picture. Of course, this is just my perception of BTS, just as every single fan has their own. And it may come close to how they are as people, but we're all working here with a limited amount of information so our understanding of who they are is automatically flawed. Which to me, means that no one is better that someone else at knowing BTS. It's subjective and it's the basis of the parasocial relationship.

I think it's important to not romanticize any of them, especially when it reaches the point in which all of them are seen as cute cinnamon rolls who can do no harm. I'm aware that it can also be part of a joke, or how fans express their affection, but this should be only a small part. This type of mentality can be harmful if a fan gets angry the moment someone says something about a member that is not praise. I'm not talking here about malicious hate comments. You don't have to like everything. That idol is still a human who can make mistakes, or say something stupid, or act in a way that you don't agree with. And on top of that, you can still like him.

"If only you could see how whipped you are when __’s around” Taehyung smirks which made him sigh as this conversation has been going on for months with the guys. So what if he stops fucking around and hooking up with girls? It’s not a big deal but all of his friends say that it's because he has feelings for you. Honestly, you guys have been friends for almost three years and if something would've happened between you guys, it would have already happened.

Jungkook and the guys were hanging out at the bowling alley while they were talking about how different Jungkook has been acting around you these days. Maybe because you guys have been hanging out a lot more than you used to, it's not a lie that he has gotten more attached to you but he swears it was platonic and nothing more than that.

"You like her, just admit it." A sigh came out from Jungkook's mouth when he heard what Yoongi just said.

"I would know if I did have feelings for her, hyung." Jungkook argued back as soon as he bowls a strike. It was not a secret that all of your friends were rooting for the both of you to start dating.

"It's fine, he'll figure out soon anyways." Taehyung said with a confident smirk plastering across his face as he shoot Jungkook a playful wink.

A small smile grew on Jungkook's face as he shook his head at himself while grabbing his denim jacket from the couch as he fishes his phone out to check on his phone.

A soft smile grew upon his face when he saw your messages that you sent him a few minutes ago, complaining about how hungry you are right now, asking him to bring you out for lunch since today is your cheat day.

"Look at him, smiling like a high school boy, I bet it's __." Jin said as he looks at Jungkook with the corner of his eyes. Honestly, he doesn't care anymore. So what if he likes you? It doesn't make any difference anyway.

"I'll see you guys later." Jungkook said as he pick up the rest of his stuff and left while responding to your text message.

A small grin plastered across Jungkook's face as soon as he saw you walked out of your house.

"Hey." You greeted him sweetly which made him smile. "What do you want to eat? I was thinking Mc Donalds?" You asked, sounded excited as soon as you hopped into his car since you are desperately craving for some chicken nuggets right now.

"Anything you want, love." Jungkook sends you a flirtatious wink when he saw how excited you are. You then pulled down the front mirror at the passenger seat to take a good look at yourself while putting on some lipgloss to look more presentable since you just got up from the bed and you kinda look like shit right now.

You and Jungkook were talking and joking about some stuff while waiting in the car at the drive-thru since there is a long line of the queue and you enjoy hanging out with Jungkook like this. He's really fun to be around with and most importantly he makes you laugh like no other people would.

"What? Why are you staring at me again?" You couldn't help but frown suspiciously at Jungkook when you caught him staring at you for the third time today.

"I don't know, it's just something that the guys said and I couldn't stop thinking about it." Jungkook said as he simply darted his gaze away from you.

"What did they say?" You asked as curiosity get a hold of you and with Jungkook staring at you like that, how can you not want to know what's going on.

"Well, they said I might have feelings for you." He simply shrugged which made you frown as you couldn't help but laugh.

"What? That's ridiculous." You responded which he only smiles as you know for sure that it's not possible for him to have feelings for you. You guys have been friends for so long and honestly, it never occurred to you that something like this would happen between you and him and you knew it better than anyone else that Jungkook hates nothing more than commitments.

"I know and honestly I don't feel anything when I look at you." Jungkook says as he just continues to stare at you which made you scoffed.

"Wha- That's offensive." You said as you shake your head in disbelief. "I am a very attractive woman." You explained, feeling somewhat offended.

“I know you are.” Jungkook chuckles since it was the truth, you are absolutely gorgeous and sexy but you were also his best friend.

“Does it bother you?” You asked when you saw how he was lost in his thoughts.

“Not really.” He shrugged as he land his gaze back at you.

“Maybe I could help.” You blurted out which made him frown in confusion, wondering what you had in mind.

"How?" He asks as he cocks one of his eyebrows at you which made smirked.

“Kiss me.” You then simply lean closer to him, catching him off guard. It’s not that he doesn’t want to kiss you but having you so close to him did make him feel something that he thought he never did and that's when he knew he fucked up.

“You can’t just say something like this.” He murmured which made you roll your eyes.

“Fine, your lost.” You shrugged as you simply sat yourself back on the passenger seat while grabbing your phone from your pocket as you scroll through it.

God, he can't believe that he actually has feelings for you. Did he always felt like this when he's with you? Do you like him too? Probably not. Why would a girl like you want to be with someone like him? You're like the most perfect girl he ever met. You're smart and incredibly beautiful, you're practically perfect in every way and despite all of that, you're __. The only girl who doesn't look at him the way any other girls would.

"Guk? We're next." You called out for him when the line finally moves. He then saw you were staring at him which he then quickly darted his gaze away from you nervously.

You were hanging out with the guys at the cafeteria and eating your breakfast like every other day while Rosè and Jisoo were talking about the party yesterday with Jimin and Yoongi dissing on how bad the both of them are with alcohol and with all the other chaos that happens at the party. You laugh when you remember how Hoseok, Jin, and Namjoon got high at the party and made a fool out of themselves. What's funnier is when you saw Taehyung was drunkenly crying at the corner while holding a bottle of champagne in his arms, talking about how lonely his puppy, Yeontan would get when he left him alone in the apartment. God, that boy just has so much love for his puppy. Out of everyone here, Jennie was the most chaotic one, she literally got up on the counter and stripped everything, leaving only her underwear on and went skinny dipping while grabbing two bottles of champagne down with her. She even dragged you down the pool and made you chug down a whole bottle of champagne. Not to mention, Jungkook has got to be the worst among you guys, he got so wasted having too much rum while playing the games at the party and ended up getting thrown into the pool by the guys. All of you practically end up in the pool eventually. It was so funny and honestly, although most of the time is more like chaos but it was still funny to you.

Speaking of the devil, you then saw Jungkook came in while holding a bottle of water as he threw it on the table while he drops himself down between Jennie and Taehyung. He then heaved out a sigh while pulling down his black cap to cover his face as he rubs the back of his neck. You can clearly see his muscle-flexing even with the leather jacket that was wrapped tightly around his huge bicep. Shit. This is worst than you thought. Asking for one kiss and now he looks attractive to you? Not that Jungkook doesn't look attractive to you before. It's just you see him differently now that you started to have these stupid thoughts clouding your mind. How great is that?

"God, you look like shit." Jennie couldn't help but to chuckle when he saw how fucked up Jungkook looks right now.

"Shut up, Jen. If it weren't for you, my hangover won't be this bad." Jungkook complained as he heaves out a soft groan while grabbing the water bottle from the table as he chugs it down.

"So __, are you coming to the party tonight?" Jin asked and now all of them are looking at you.

"I-I can't, I have a test tomorrow, I'm so sorry." You explained as most of them were practically glaring at you when you said that you couldn't come.

"Why? It won't be fun if you're not around." Rosè whines as she pouts at you which made you smile. Although you really don't want to miss the party at all, you have no choice but to study since you needed to keep your grades up. You didn't even touch the book yet and you definitely don't think that you can finish everything by today.

"Well, I guess we just have to move the party to __'s house!" Your eyes went wide as soon as you heard what Hoseok suggested when all of them cheered at the idea.

"Guys, I really appreciate that you guys want to spend time with me but I really have to study." You explained as you whine at them, pleading for them to leave you alone which they probably won't since most of them aren't listening to you.

"Guys-" You were about to say something when you heard someone calling out for you.

"__!" You turn around to see Seulgi was smiling and waving at you excitedly.

"Look, I have to go now, I'll talk to you guys soon, okay?" You said as you simply stood up and grab your stuff along with you while you jog up to Seulgi.

Jungkook's eyes were practically glued to you as to when he saw you disappeared into the hallway. When he turns back around, everyone was staring at him, waiting for him to say something.

"What?" Jungkook asks as guilt started to fill his guts. Ever since that day, he couldn't stop thinking about you, he wanted to tell you about his feelings but he also didn't want to ruin what you guys had. He just doesn't know what to do anymore. He knew at some point he has to tell the guys, he can't possibly hide it from them forever.

"I know this might sound weird but me and __ almost kissed." Jungkook confessed as he took a deep breath and sigh. "Look, you guys were right, I have feelings for her." Honestly, Jungkook didn't know what to do anymore, it's like the closeness that the both of you shared suddenly light up his world and it made him realize his feelings for you. How did he not see it?

“Told you.” Taehyung smirks as he look at Jungkook with the corner of his eyes.

“Shut up, Tae.” Jennie said as she then rolled her eyes at him.

"So what are you going to do?" Namjoon asks while the guys were staring at him, waiting for him to say something.

"I don't know, nothing?" He said while rubbing the back of his neck as he then heaves out a soft sigh.

Jungkook has no idea what should he say to you. Despite that he knows that you're going to reject him anyway, he was still hoping that there might be a small part of you that like him.

"Hey." You got startled when you heard Jungkook's husky voice echoing in the lab room which made you look up to see he was heading over to you as he then sat down on one of the stool while placing his bag on the table. Luckily, you were the only one in the room or else people would start whispering about why is he here.

You frown when you saw the nervousness on his face as you have no idea what is going on. "What is it? Is everything okay?" You asked as you went over and sat down in front of him, waiting for him to say something.

"If I say I have feelings for you, would you believe me?" He asked which made you frown even more.

"What are you talking about? I thought we've talked passed that." You said while you then just stare at him.

"Answer me." He looked serious which made you frown as you have exactly no idea why is he suddenly asking you about the kiss.

"Why are you-." Jungkook interrupted which made you stare at him as it made your heart stopped when you heard what he said.

"Because I think I might have feelings for you." You were at a loss of words when you heard what he just said. You didn't know how to react or what to say and he's sure isn't joking with you by the look on his face. You have no idea how you should respond, normally you'd just said what's on your mind whenever you face this kind of situation but it's different when it comes to Jungkook. You're sure he's going to forget about it. He's not the kind of guy who would gain feelings so easily, at least not to you.

"Jungkook, you're ju-" You heave out a sigh as you try to talk about it when he stops you from going further.

"I just thought I should let you know." He said when he saw you were struggling with your words which you then just sigh. He then stood up as he came to you while he held onto your shoulder as he leans down looking at you. "Look, you don't have to worry. I might get over soon or maybe not." He tries to assure you which made you smile softly as you then rolled your eyes playfully at him while he moves himself away from you.

"I'm just kidding." He smiles as he smacks on your forehead lightly which made you glare at him while you rubbing your forehead. "So, do you wanna maybe go grab a coffee with me?" He asks jokingly while he smirks at you which made you smile as you than shake your head as you stood up.

“Are you trying to flirt with me?" You ask which made him smile as he then heaves out a sigh.

"Well, at least I tried." He responded while he grabs his bag, making you smile. "I gotta go, my class is starting soon, I'll see you later." He said as he then softly ruffles your hair before heading out while smiling at you.

You and Jungkook? You'd be lying if you said you never pictured that but you knew better than anything that Jungkook would just fool around with you. Plus, he's always sleeping around. You're sure he's going to forget about it next week.

All the guys were hanging out at the bowling alley and even though you have so much school stuff to work on, you couldn't possibly miss it, it's been a while since you hang out with them soberly, without any alcohol to be precise. Not that you hate parties but you preferred it better to hang out with them like that.

"You have got to see the look on Namjoon's face when Dahyun rejected him." Jin was laughing while he was teasing Namjoon about what happened at the party last week.

"Hey! Look who's finally here!" Hoseok smiles when he saw Jungkook came walking in as he plopped himself down beside you as he lays his head on your shoulder which made has your heart skipped a beat.

"Why are you so late? Where is Jennie by the way?" Taehyung asks as he was looking around to see if she's around.

"Sorry, lost track of time at the gym." Jungkook simply answered as he pulls his cap up to fix his hair before he put it back on as he snuggled closer to you which made your heart pounding faster. God. What is wrong with you? It’s like ever since the encounter in the lab room, you started to act nervously around him and you have no idea why.

"Why? Have a crush on her, Tae?" Yoongi teases him which made him rolled his eyes annoyingly. Honestly, you have no idea what is the deal between Taehyung and Jennie. The guys love teasing them so badly and it gets funnier and funnier every time.

"Please, I have better options." Taehyung said which made the rest of the guys chuckle.

"Do you really?" You then saw Jennie came as she sat down beside Jisoo while placing her Chanel handbag on her lap while staring at Taehyung with one of her eyebrows lifted, practically glaring at him.

"Hey Jennie! We were just talking about you!" Taehyung smiles adoringly while looking at her which she then just scoffed and looks away. You smile as you shake your head, grabbing the coffee from the table as you took another sip when you saw Jungkook was on his phone texting some random girl and you honestly have no idea why did it bother you so much.

"You guys are so loud, I'm out, I'm going to Taco Bell and __ is coming with me." Hoseok said which made you frown as you turn to look at him. He said as he nudges you.

"What? I mean sure but I need to head to the washroom first, I'll meet you outside then." You said which he then just nodded his head and smile when he saw how confused you look. You then place your coffee back on the table while you grab your handbag with you before you stood up.

You heave out a sigh when you look at the mirror. God, you have no idea what was going through your mind. Why do you even care who Jungkook is texting? Why does it affect you so much? He was just being him. The only person you can blame is yourself.

After you put on some lipgloss and tied your hair up into a messy bun, you then head out from the washroom, to see Jungkook, and Jimin was waiting outside for you instead of Hoseok. "Where is Hobi?" You asked as a small frown from across your face while you looked around the place.

"He dumped you with us, get a hint woman." Jimin explained which made you frown confusingly. You swear sometimes you just can't stand the guy.

"C'mon, you'll get see to him when you get there, I promised." You were confused by what Jungkook just said when he grabs you as you have no idea what is going on but everything became clearer once you've reached the place to see everyone was here except Taehyung and that's when you knew the guys had pranked him again and you knew exactly who started this. "Seriously?" You couldn't help but chuckle as you stare at your best friend which she then just shrugged as she smiles proudly at herself.

"Where did you left him this time?" You asked as you sat down beside Jungkook while he places his huge veiny arm around you as you couldn't help but contain how stupid this is.

"You'll never know." Jungkook said which made you sigh as you then just stare at him. God, Jungkook wouldn't stop flirting with you ever since that day he told you that he might have feelings for you. You'd be lying if you say that Jungkook's confession didn't affect you at all even though you've been trying to convince yourself to ignore him.

"Jungkook, no." You responded while smiling at yourself while you lower down your voice since you're in the library as you didn't want to get any attention. You then turned away from him as you continue to search for your book on the rack.

"Why? Just one date that's all I'm asking for." Jungkook whispers softly which made you glance at him before you head over to the other side of the rack. "Okay, why not?" He asks when he saw you were looking at him as he continues to follow behind you which made you sigh as you then turn around to look at him.

"Because it's for the best." You simply answered him which he then just looks away from you as he pokes his tongue against his cheeks and sighs.

"Really?" He asked as he leans against the book rack and stares at you which made your heart skipped a beat. You gulp when you saw his muscles flexing when he crossed his arms in front of you which made you look away.

"Jungkook... I don't think that this is a great idea and I'm sure you'll get over soon." You simply said which made him frown as he couldn't believe what you just said.

"How do you even know that?" He asked which makes you heave out a soft sigh.

"Because I know you, I know you'll find someone soon and then you'll forget about me." You blurted out without thinking which he then just stares at you unbelievingly as he then slowly looks away from you. You gulp nervously when you realize what you just said but when you wanted to explain, he stopped you.

"Right, because I'm nothing but a player to you." He said as he stares at you coldly for the last time before he leaves. That's when you knew you fucked up bad this time.

"Oh! for the love of god! Why would you say that?" Jennie was practically yelling at you when you tell them what happened between you and Jungkook yesterday. God, you felt so bad about it. You didn't mean to say any of that but you did anyways.

"I didn't mean to say that. It's just... My insecurities keep getting to me and you know how he is with girls." You explained and heaves out a sigh. "Jungkook can literally get any girls every time he breathed and why would he leave them just to be with me?" You confronted Jennie which made her sigh as she couldn't believe you had just said that.

"Babe..." Jennie then stares at you and frowns. She honestly cannot believe you would ever say something like that because she never thought you'd be that insecure.

"Honey." Jin called out to you which makes you look at him "If anything, Jungkook's the one who should be worrying. Do you have any idea how many of my friends came up to me just to get your number?" Jin said as he was looking at you like it was the most obvious thing which made you frown.

"I can guarantee you that you have nothing to worry about. Do you have any idea how whipped that kid is for you?" Yoongi said as he looks at you while grabbing the fries from Hoseok's plate.

"Yeah, I can't believe you would say something like that to him." Jimin said which made you sigh as you felt really guilty and bad about it. "He likes you. Trust me." Jimin responded which you then just grin softly at him.

"Just talk to him." Jennie said as she held you close to her as she gently caressed your arm which you then just nodded as you gave her a small smile.

Jungkook has been ignoring you ever since that day. You've tried so hard to talk to him but he just doesn't give you a single fuck. You know he's mad and he should be because of what you said to him and you felt so stupid for blurting those words out. You should've known him better than anyone else, you've been friends with him long enough to know what kind of person he is. You shouldn't just judge him like that, it's not fair to him at all.

You were standing in front of your locker while you're debating on whether if you should approach Jungkook now since he's currently busy flirting with the cheerleaders. God, looking at him flirting with those girls really got under your skin. You didn't know how much it bothered you until now. You then sigh as you decided to talk to him, knowing that he did that on purpose because he knew you're standing there.

"Can we talk?" You stood behind him while he bid goodbye to the girls before he turns around to look at you.

"What?" He asked as he simply took a glance at you while he turns around, leaning his back against his locker.

"Look I'm sorry for what I said but please don't ignore me like that, is there anything I can do to get you not to be mad at me anymore?" You asked as you have no idea what you say anymore. You miss your friend.

"Just leave me alone." He said as he heaves out a sigh before he walks away from you.

"What? Guk, I've tried, I've tried so hard to talk to you, apologize to you, everything I could but all you do is proving me right by flirting around with those girls. You know what? Maybe I'm not sorry because this is exactly why it's hard for me to trust you." You blurted it out as you've had enough of it. You've been trying so hard but he just couldn't care less anymore.

"Woah, you can't trust me?" He turned around to look at you, his tongue poking slightly against his cheeks. "God, you're starting to piss me off. Just because I like you, doesn't mean I have to do what you say. You're the one who says that I'm a player, why are you even mad?" He said which made you frowned as you couldn't believe what he just said.

"What? I'm not mad, I..." You tried to defend yourself but you were at a loss of words.

"No, you're just being difficult, you like the attention I gave you and watching me making a fool out of myself, chasing and bending over you is exactly what you want." You scoffed softly as you couldn't believe he actually said that.

"How can you say that when you don't even know what I'm thinking?" You asked as you frowned at him. "Do you have any idea how hard it is for me to be around you when there are tons of pretty girls swooning over you." You confessed as you darted your gaze away from him. "You know what? I'm just gonna leave. I can't talk to you anymore." You sigh and before you could walk away from him, he then spoke up.

"You can't just say stuff like this because that's all on you. Do you think it's easy for me? Do you think I don't have one of those insecurities on you too? Because I do, I had tons of them, one where you being my dream girl." With that, he then just left.

"Woah! I never knew a girl's closet could be this big!" You heard Jimin yell which made you smile. You were supposed to study tonight but Taehyung and Jimin decided to show up at your house so you would go to the party with them. They even went to your closet to help you pick an outfit and of course you didn't let them because being the pervert themself, they might just pick a lingerie for you.

"Remind me again, why we never hooked up?" Taehyung asked as he was checking you out while you were putting on your mascara which made you raised your brows as you couldn't help and chuckle at what he just say.

"Seriously, are you done yet?" Jimin asks as he turns to look at you while laying on your bed to check on you but ended up going through your makeup pouch. God, you swear you wanted to kick him out of your house when keep asking you about your make up products and how to use it, he even tried it on himself and ended up making a mess.

As soon as you guys got out of the house, Jimin was already yelling shotgun while jogging towards Taehyung's Porsche which made you heave out a sigh at yourself. You swear to God there's still a child somewhere inside him.

A smile plastered across your face when you saw the girls came running to you when they saw you. It's been a while since you came partying with them. You have been so stressful for almost a semester because of the number of assignments and test, it felt really good to be here with all of them.

"Oh my god Tae! How did you get her here?!" Rosè exclaimed excitedly as all of them were surprised to see you since you weren't the type of person who would come to the party.

"Babe, you look so hot!" Jennie squeals excitingly as she came to hug you.

"Oh! Looks who's here!" You then heard Hoseok's drunken voice which made you turn around to see he was dancing his ways to you as it made you laugh. He then came to hug you from behind as he planted a small kiss on top of your head while handing you a vodka. God, he's so drunk.

The smile on your face slowly faded away when you saw Jungkook was making out with Mina at the corner while playing beer pong with his other friends. You then quickly turn away from the sight of it when you saw Jin came to you with two vodkas on his hand which made you smile.

"Thanks." You said as he handed you the vodka.

"So, how's the talk with Jungkook?" He simply asks which caught you off guard as you then just glance at him and shrugged.

"Well, I wouldn't say the best." You gave him a small smile as you look away from him. Honestly, you have no idea how he did it, it's like he can see through you with just one glance. Whenever you had any problems you're dealing with, he would always be the one person you get advice from.

"Why can't you just admit that you have feelings for him?" He asked which made your heart stop before you turn around and frown at him.

"I don't have feelings for that jerk." You said as you were still hung up with what happened yesterday. You then try to move to pass Jin but he just wouldn't budge.

"Please, I saw the look on your face when he was making out with that girl over there." He said as he stood in front of you while he nudges his head towards the direction where Jungkook is which made you sigh softly.

"Jin, I'm really not in the mood to talk about it." You said as you heave out a soft sigh before you head over to the guys.

"It's okay if you're scared." He spoke up when you're about to leave which made you stare at him as he was really starting to get on your nerves.

"Look, it's not going to happen." You said which he then just stares at you with one of his eyebrows lifted.

"You should give him a chance, maybe things might turn out better than you expected." Jin said as he ruffles your head softly before he left you.

"Yeah, as if. He's not even talking to me." You mumbled to yourself as you then just walk away to meet up with the girls.

Luckily, you haven't been drinking too much or else you'll be passing out now. When you came out from the washroom after you've done cleaning yourself up, you then saw Jungkook was laying against by the bathroom door with his arm crossed while staring at you which made you startled.

"Hey." Jungkook smiles sheepishly at you which made you frown when you saw how drunk he is.

"How much did you drink?" You asked while you look at him as you simply pressed the back of your hand on his warm cheeks which made your eyes widened. "You're burning." You said as you frowned at him.

"I'm fine." Jungkook assured you when he gently pulled you hand away from his face as he just stares at you.

"Come here." You said as you pulled him into the washroom while trying to make him sit on the stool without him stumbling across the shower which made you chuckle. "Sit here." You said as you sit him down on the stool while trying to stop him from swaying around.

"I'm sorry, __." He mumbles softly, loud enough for you to hear which made you heave out a soft sigh which made you look at him. "Why don't you trust me?" He asked as he was just staring at you and you see how hurt he is through his eyes. "I would anything for you, you know that right?" He spoke softly which made your heart crumble.

"It's not like that, please don't say that, I..." You were out of words as you didn't know what to say anymore.

"I don't think I can ever stop liking you." Jungkook said as he sobbed softly while he hid his face in the palm of his hand as he heaves out a sigh. "God, the guy who wins your heart will be so lucky." He blurted out which made your heart stop when you saw he was tearing up while he was just staring at the ceiling and that's when you realize just how much it hurts to see him like this.

You were zoning out at the rooftop while you were thinking about Jungkook. God, you've never really thought about that much until yesterday you only realize that just how much you like the guy and you felt so stupid for not realizing your feelings until now.

You were heading back down to your class when you bumped into Jungkook at the stairs which made your heart skipped a beat.

"Hey, can we talk?" The both of you asked at the same time which made you chuckle as he smiles at you.

"I'm sorry, about everything. I felt like such a dick when I said those things to you." He sighs as he apologized to you when he looks at you with his eyes softened.

"I'm sorry too." You responded as you then gave him a small smile.

The both of you then talked for a while, catching up. God, you definitely miss him.

"So how are things going with your Dad?" You asked as you look at him when he mentions about his dinner with his Dad last night.

"I don't know." He sighs as you can see how tired he looks. You can never understand how Jungkook was able to withstand all the things by himself. Ever since he was a kid, he has never been closed with his Dad, you're the only one who he talks to about it and you've been seeing him beating himself up over these past few years because of it.

"I know it can be hard but you'll get to him someday, trust me." You assured him as you gently held onto his hand, softly caressing it which made him smile. "And you can always talk to me about it, I'm always here for you." You said as he then just smiles softly at you.

"Yeah, I know." He said as he turns around to lean his back against the wall which made you smile as you then just look away from him.

"I miss this." You confessed while you stare up to the sky.

"Me too." He smiles softly as he then just then stares at you while admiring your beauty.

"Can we just forget all of this?" You said as you turn to look at him. There was a moment of short silence between the both of you when Jungkook stepped closer to you.

"__, you know we can't be friends anymore." Jungkook said as he softly caressed your face as he tugs your hair behind. "I will always see you as something else." He confessed as he then looks at you which made your heart stopped.

"Who says I want to be your friend?." You mumbles. "I want this, I want us." You confessed softly while you look at him.

"What?" He asked as he was confused by what you just said because never in a thousand years thought he'd get to hear you say something like this.

"What? You don’t like me anymore?" You teased as you smile while looking at him which made him nervous.

"No, of course not!" He stopped you which made you chuckle when you saw how scared he is as he tries to explain to you. "I just, I never thought there would be an us. You don't have to do this because of what I said and..." He sighs which made you smile as you shake your head at him.

"No, I want this." You explain as you held onto his wrist, trying to assure him that you didn't do this just for him, you did it because you like him. "I like you, Guk. I just never really see it until now." You said which he then just stares at you and smiles. God, you miss that smile. It's been such a long time since you see him smiling like that.

"So I really got to take you out?" He asked again which made you chuckle as you then just nodded. "God, I cannot believe that I can finally call you mine." He said which made you cracked into a small smile as he gently held onto your hand and leans down closer to you while pressing his forehead against yours. "I think I'm in love with you." You smile softly when he confessed as you wrapped your arm around his neck and lean in to press a soft kiss on his lips.

"Can I take you out on a date again soon?" Jungkook asks as he held onto your hand, not wanting to let you go while you were trying to head back inside your house.

"Sure, if you let me go." You said which made him smile as he held onto your waist while pulling you closer to him as he stares at you while looking down to your lips. He then slowly leans in to kiss you as you wrapped your arm around his neck while he deepened the kiss, walking you up to his Jeep as he pressed his huge body against yours which made you smile into the kiss as you can't believe that you guys were making out at your front porch. You will be so damned if your parents saw you.

Dating Jungkook is like a dream. You never thought you'd get to see this side of him until now, it turns out your boyfriend can be very very sweet and also very very clingy. You swear the guy has a hard time holding himself back whenever he's around you. You can't even watch a single movie without rewinding it because you guys would always end up eating each other out on the couch and sometimes you'd end up getting late to class because he wouldn't stop kissing you and it always ends up with the both of you naked.

Sure, there are times where you guys would fight and he'd always get so mad at himself because he hates it so much when he's the one who's hurting you. He hates to see you getting upset or hurt because of him and he can't bear to lose you every time you guys fight, especially when you would walk away from him. Even though he would get mad at you sometimes but it always ends up with him apologizing to you even though if it's your fault.

Sometimes it's still hard to believe that he used to be your best friend who you find very attractive and now he's yours. One thing that you love about him the most is that he would always try his best to make you feel like you're the only girl in the world. You find it really sweet that he would confess to you over and over again, just to let you know how much he cares about you.

You were happy and that's more than enough.
