In Luminous Green Glow.
Another TaliaxDanny idea
So we knows those AU where Danny pops out the Lazarus Pits and meets like Damian or Jason.
What if, due to time travel shenanigans or even dimensional reasons Danny pops out of the Lazarus Pits when he was investigating it (maybe he's CW apprentice and helping keeping the Zone in check) and while looking he suddenly gets a sword put to his neck and a voice, a very very spine tingling smooth voice, saying
"Who are you. And how did you find this place."
Out the corner of his eye Danny could see a woman (or if time travel, teen! Talia) around his age and ooooh boy the Fenton 'I love a woman that just might kill me' genes are totally kicking into high gear.

okay so i was thinking of a joke earlier about how in DPDC Amity Park's slogan "a great place to live" is not only city propaganda but also the city lording it over the rest of America for being normal. But then I remembered that, despite how many DCU Cities with heroes in it there are, the amount of cities in America without heroes still far outnumber the amount of cities in America WITH heroes.
So I did a little digging so the joke would still land. Something most heroes have in common is that they operate in major cities. What makes a major city? I found that the general consensus is that the population is roughly over or around a million. THEN I looked up the populations of cities in the DCU that I thought of off the top of my head. So Gotham, Metropolis, Starling City, Central City, Jump City. All of them ranked up to millions in population (most of them were in the tens of millions).
Amity Park's wikipedia describes it as being similar to specifically Philadelphia, Chicago, and San Francisco.
Philadelphia's Population: 1.576 million as of 2021 Chicago's Population: 2.697 million as of 2021 San Francisco: 815,201 as of 2021
Whiiich means that Amity Park if we take that from canon, is probably a major city. There are approximately 19,000 cities in America with probably less than a hundred that are major cities. Adding the DCU major cities wouldn't skew the data too much.
Which MEANS that I can make the joke that Amity Park's "great place to live" is not only just typical city propaganda, but also its Amity Park lording it over the other major cities for being one of the only major cities that doesn't have problems bad enough to warrant a superhero or a vigilante. Cue stage left the Fentons and Phantom :)
Amity Parkers were probably SO proud that they didn't need a superhero. They didn't have to worry about things like 'world ending threats' and 'super-powered individuals' and 'staggering property damage'. And then enter Fentons.
It also could be used as an excuse for why nobody took notice to Amity Park getting ghosts if folks like me aren't huge fans of the notion of a media blackout via Tucker, Technus, or the US Government. Or if you want to keep Amity Park as its urban city self. Amity Park's news on ghosts gets drowned out in a week because there's news on more popular, well-known cities going on every other day. The shit going on in Amity Park is every other major city's regular Tuesday and it gets filtered as such.
#dp x dc#dp x dc crossover#dpxdc#dpdc#plus amity suddenly going 'we have ghosts' could be seen as a case of city-wide FOMO finally hitting so nobody believes them#and thats if the belief of ghosts not being real is as strong as it is in dp canon#the media blackout could also be /city-induced/ too#where amity parkers are so proud of being 'normal' and 'not having superheros' that many of them try and deny the existence of Phantom#and the mayor and news sources themselves just. stubbornly refuse to let news of ghosts get out to the other cities#do you know how much shit they'll get?? they'll be a laughingstock!#gothamites would never leave them alone. neither would central city or the metropolitans or starling city or--#the other big cities will make fun of them :(#my new favorite hc that stemmed from this is that every major city in the dcu is rivaling with each other#there's a lot you can experiment with this idea imo lmao#this whole post sums up my writing and thinking process pr well tbh#this stemmed because im making a childhood friends au short story doc and wanted to avoid the typical tropes about how AP went undetected#from the rest of the US. bc. im not a fan of the media blackout idea via tucker/technus/gov and i wanted to keep AP an urban city#so i had to come up with something else#hence me looking into DCU cities and how many there are and realizing that there is a decent amount of other cities other than the main#popular ones and being DELIGHTED because then i could use that as an excuse for why amity went overlooked. bc there are many cities with#heroes in it. so its not surprising if another city gets a hero TOO. plus the news also focusing on more popular heroes and cities so again#the news of amity getting a hero gets drowned out by whatever new thing the JL or someone from the JL did that week

It was quite a shock when Damian had asked his brothers for assistance in a project for his advance music theory class.
It was a unspoken knowledge that music was a part of the Wayne family.
If they didn’t have an affinity for an instrument then it was singing and if not singing dancing.
Almost everyone who came into the family had some sort or knack and those who hadn’t picked it up along the way.
Damian was the most uninterested members when he had joined the family so it was quite a shock when he demanded help this morning.
Testing out the drums Jason shared a look with the others before asking,
“So why did you need all of us to begin with? You’re not recording or anything right?”
Damian let out a tch as for himself ready,
“Not right now, but I felt it imperative to go over my composition at least once altogether, in case I felt the need to add.”
The kid continued to tune the ukulele in his hands.
It was a strange choice for the ex assassin but when questioned he merely claimed it was due to it’s size being easier to travel with.
“Well I think it’s an interesting choice in lead instrument baby bird!”
Dick claimed as he played with his maraca while glancing over his sheet music.
“I think it will go nicely with the your lyrics! But I do have to ask-“
“I made the lyrics very clear.”
“And you did! But-“
Damian gave a glare as Dick took a seat.
“I will cut out the maracas, do not test me Richard.”
Tim gave a snort from his place slumped over the piano,
“Just be glad you got to see the vocal sheet music, he just annotated the places he wanted me to harmonize with you.”
“Yeah we’ll you kind of have to be more focused my your hands than anything else.”
Silence fell as they finished their warm ups and Damian began to strum his cords.
The eldest watched as the others raised their eyebrows at the tempo and of the tune but came just the the same.
“I lost my cool, I’m not sure how to act, not even sure how I can keep my pride intact.”
Jason felt his eyebrows raise at the lyrics as Dick and Tim started their backup harmonies.
“No, I'm not falling for you, so please have mercy on me
'Cause it's not romantic, I swear I'm not gasping for air
I want you to be here, but please don't come near
'Cause even though I'm pretty sure my head's exploding
I'm not ready for hand holding
It's not love, I swear It might be closer to despair.”
The first interlude began and Jason shot an incredulous look at Dick. Was this the demon brat? Were they sure he hadn’t been replaced in the night with some sappy clone?
Dick for his part tried to convey to younger brother to just keep playing.
“No, I don't want want you to teach me how to dance Get your heart away from me, you'll put me into a trance
And even though I think about you day and night
I'm not sure if this whole love thing sounds quite right”
Tim craned his neck as the chorus started again, to look at Damian and nearly fell off his stool when he realized that there was blush on the younger’s face.
‘Who in god’s name has somehow wiggled their way past the kid’s defenses?!’
Damian, for his part was refusing to look in the other’s direction as he powered through to the last verse.
“Cause even though I'm pretty sure my head's exploding
I'm not ready for hand holding
It's not love, I swear
It might be closer to despair”
Crooning the last notes to the song, Damian seemed to take a moment to gather himself before quickly striking last note and letting the room fill with silence.
No one seemed to know how to react after such a performance for a second.
Then Dick tried to clear the frog in his throat and the moment was over.
“Baby bird-“
“Cease your prodding, this was for a school project and nothing more.”
Damian gritted out as he stood from his seat,
“Now if you excuse me I am going to return to my room, I feel that if I were to add a bass to the background it would help with the mixing of sounds.”
And left as quickly as he could without raising suspicions.
“Holy fuck,”
Jason breathed out,
“When did the brat gain his first crush?”
“It has to be new.”
Tim rubbed his temple with his thumb,
“He’s still clearly in denial so he hasn’t really gotten used to the idea.”
“You say that like he doesn’t share his dna with the most emotionally constipated man in the known universe.”
“Guys.”
Dick raised his hands in exasperation,
“We can argue on whether or not he’s conscious about his crush later. Right now I want to do some background checks on this person.”
Before exiting the music room,
Tim gave him a disbelieving look,
“Background checks? Dick we don’t even have a name here.”
“Yeah dickhead, even if we’re assuming that he wrote this song about someone in his school we’re still looking a number in the hundreds.”
“That would be true,”
Dick’s eyes took a mischievous look as the other’s followed him into the office.
“If it wasn’t for the fact that Damian had complained about this assignment beforehand, so I know for a fact that it’s about someone in his Advanced music theory class.”
Jason and Tim shared a similar expression as they joined him in the cave.
“That does narrow it down a bit, what’s an average class size replacement?”
“Oh about 20 students, but with the fact that this is an non essential elective course, I would bet it to be smaller.”
With a shared nod and grin they started up the bat computer.
Not like they had any other big plans today anyways.

Jason dreads the moment when Bruce starts talking. He’s probably trying to figure out the angle, sorting through his internal spreadsheets. They’re going to analyse the past year in as few words as possible, or discuss the treatment, to give Jason the illusion that he has any control over it. Or maybe they will get back to the topic of how Bruce simply cannot do what Jason wants him to; the judge, jury, and executioner lecture that Jason never really needed, because deep down he knows that his cries and requests were selfish. Childish, even. But the silence stretches. It starts feeling more like peace. “I love you,” Bruce says, and that’s not code for anything.

Hey y'all!
I have a brand new fic for you! This is something I've been working on for Fandom Trumps Hate and @cerealboxlore!

When his babysitter of the day is Hal, fresh from a long stint in space and more than a little intrigued about his apparently twelve year old teammate, the two find themselves in the middle of a fight against a strange new enemy that seems intent on pushing them to their limits.

====================================
This is not how things should go.
Dick Grayson was responding to a hostage situation in Blüdhaven; Just a few weeks after being gassed with the new Joker Gas. Now that doesn't sound good and he was hospitalized for it but he got better! And that should be the end of it...
If only it didn't have side effects.
In the weeks that follow were laughing episodes akin to panic attacks. With research of the gas, some questioning and a bit of detective work, it turns out that the Joker purposely did that so the victims who do survive his gas will suffer either way.
Now luckily there was a antidote.
Unluckily Joker destroy it before anyone got their hands on it.
Now the people that survive would have to bare the fits until the Justice League figure out a antidote. The victims were to be held in government approved hospitals and monitor by the government and the Justice League as they worked together on the cure. Good news to the victims that were gassed, the gas isn't as potent or deathly and there's a 50/50 chance of the effects surfacing after roughly a week after being cured the first time. The good news only ended there though. Dick was hit, but he didn't have the side effects.
At least that's what everyone thought.
Now don't get him wrong, he was bedridden for a few days, but he did get better!... But then fates decided to be cruel and the side effects began just a week after being cured and the fits started; but the family didn't know that. To them, Dick Grayson wasn't amongst the unfortunate people who did. He was fine! And he would like to keep it that way.
Dick didn't want to make them worried about him. Tim and Bruce already have to spend countless nights just to make a cure (and still are for the side effects), his siblings worked around the clock so they can cover him in Bloodhaven, and even Alfred was on edge after the whole insident. Really, he didn't want them to know.
So he kept his mouth shut.
Sure, hiding from a family of detectives wasn't gonna last long, and the laughing fits weren't making it any better to hide,but he's a detective too! Dick was raised by one of the greatest detective no less! He managed to keep it from them, but now Dick suspect that some of them (mostly Cass) are catching on what's going on.
Because of that, he decided to stay in Blüdhaven to lay low. Dick wasn't allowed to be Nightwing yet, but Dick had a job at BCPD; he's not going to sit around and do nothing after all. Alfred may have grounded him from going out as a vigilant but his city still needs him in more ways in one.
And here he was, on the ground, laughing and wheezing and coughing his sorrows away, during a very delicate hostage situation. The hostages were held in a warehouse...
A warehouse similar to the warehouse that held...Jason...
Little wing...
His brother- that he failed-
He couldn't breathe- couldn't think-! He-
He hears shots in the distance but is helpless to do anything.
---
This is not how things should go.
Dash Baxter is just a simple man; a man trying to live his normal life as a policeman in the BCPD. And life likes to make things difficult then it should be, though that should be expected in his line of work. Thank the ancients that he hasn't gone gray yet!
The day starts with a call about a hostage situation. Before that, he was investigating a string of robberies in Bloodhaven for the past few months that might be -no, is- connected to each other and the hostage situation at hand.
How does he know?
Well, all the robberies were done by the same people and although they're cover their faces, the robbers were wearing the same clothes and masks every time. Sure, there were effective in keeping the robber's identities, but at this point, it might as well be their identities.
Even knowing that, the criminals were slippery little shitters as they constantly evaded them at every turn. Entil now; Dash got in contact with Detective Wes Weston (that fees so weird to say), an old friend and now pravite detective to lend a helping hand and figure out the robbers next move.
All the years spend doing conpriresy theories and stalking his classmates finally paid off for him, Dash thought. Though he wouldn't want to admitted that in front of him.
With the help of Detective Wes (Ancients it still feels weird to say that), they managed to figure out the criminal's next plan; that is to rob a bank and stop them before they get their hands on the cash. But just like slimy slippery little bastards they are, they got away.
And this time, with hostages.
Dash, who's on the wheel, his partner Dick Grayson besided him and Wes at the back managed to catch up with the criminals with his car to a empty abondon warehouse just outside the docks. Dash makes sure that they weren't spotted and let the robbers think that they managed to escape.
The plan was to wait until help arrived and go from there. However, he noticed Dick wasn't looking so good when they got to the warehouse, but he was focused on the task at hand.
That was his worse mistake.
"Hey Dash...? Your partner's not looking good there..." Wes whispered, opening the car door slowly, before shit went sideways.
Dick started to giggled, and the next thing they know, he started to laugh, which gave away the three's position.
Shots rang out.
"TAKE COVER!!" Dash yelled as he opened the door, grabs Dick, who's now laughing like a mad man, and took cover at the side of the car. Wes pulls out his Fenton Gun and starts shooting back, green goo hitting and melting away at the metal walls.
Dash takes out his walkie talkie and calls for backups as Wes keep shooting back, careful where he shoots as he didn't know where the hostages are.
The situation is getting worse.
"Damn the Ancients! You're so going to own me a favor!" Wes ducks down with them.
"Crap! This isn't good," Dash retorted back. He starts to reload his gun (the normal kind) and stars shooting at the criminals that he can see. He then ducks down to check on Dick. "Dick! Wha-" he cuts himself.
By the looks of it, Dick having a panic attack, although he knows damn well that laughing isn't one of the symptoms. He looks like in a lot of pain; tears freely ran down his cheeks, as he tries desperately to silent himself, his body was shaking and trembling. Then Dash remembers about the new Joker Gas on the news a while back. How it now has side effects, how Dick was visiting his family in Gotham that time, how-
Dick was gassed with the Joker Gas.
And only then Dash noticed that he can only hear Dick's maniac of a laugh and not the gunshots.
"Hey, D! Look!" Wes called out, shaking Dash fully out of his thoughts.
Shit, the hostage situation.
He feared the worse... but Wes was giving him a shit eating grin and he hears no more gun shots, so he looks back at the warehouse. People were coming out, all the hostages were free, and he zero in a certain woman with dark skin and wearing a hot pink top with a black leather jacket on top and white jeans waving at them.
He wasn't expecting to see another old friend amidst the crowd.
It was Paulina waving at them, with a big smile on her face, at the front of the hostages. Acting as a leader of sorts, she orders them to dragged out the robbers who are now tided up with chains. From his position, he could see that one of them has a pretty nasty black eye. If he wasn't still on edge, he'll find the situation hallarious and wanted to know why she's here in Blüdhaven. But now he know that the people are safe and Paulina mostly took care of it, Dash focused on Dick's laughing problem.
"Wes, can you take care of them for me?" Dash asked. He still needs to help his partner who's still laying on the ground.
Wes just sigh, "You so own me for this," he then walks to the group, no doubt relief as Dash is that the people were safe (though not admitted anything when asked), leaving Dash and Dick behind.
Thankfully, Dick seems to calm down and the laughing stopped. He's eyes were bloodshot red and tears were already staining his cheeks. Unfortunately, he's still giggling.
"I... I'm... I'm sorr-god I-so sorry-" Dick tried to say, but he's out of breath and still giggles between words. Dash feels helpless to do anything.
"Hey, it's okay. Just breathe, alright?" Dash knees down and ask,"can I touch you? At the shoulder?"
Dick silently nods. Dash sat next to him and place he's hand on Dick's shoulder. Dash hears sirens at the distance, signaling that backups have arrived. Hopefully the ambulance as well.
It's going be a long day.
---
Dash decided to stay behind to help rally up the culprits and to give a report on what happened. He feels a little embarrassed that Paulina and Wes did all the work, but they insist that Dash help as well as he could.
He also talked to the medics about his theory on what happened to Dick Grayson. He believes that Dick was gas by the new Joker Gas and kept the side effects from everyone after he was supposedly cured (which is true). Now that he thinks about it, every time that Dick looks unwell, he always excuses himself. Dash really was an idiot and thought his partner was just under the weather.
Ancients, he wanted to banged his head up against a wall.
After the paramedics took Dick away, and knowing he'll be in good hand, Dash walks over to where Paulina and Wes were to catch up on their lives.
---
"Soooo, about the favor you own me...."
"What favor?"
"I'm not bribing Fenton into giving you another cursed book, Wes."

Thinking about my DC Online oc for the billionth time and like??
Tim and him have to be a friends of some kind like. This dude would drop everything the moment he hears Robin gets captured or needs help. And Robin would do the same. But at the same time neither of them know anything about each other??
Sure, Bruce and Tim probably have looked into his background like the stalkers they are but-do they know his favorite anything? He has no idea the family dynamics going on. He's never been to the manor or know their identities but has been to the Batcave and probably helped on cases before.
This could get angsty but I can see the crack potential too honestly.
Tim is Tim and so much crazy shit happens to your oc in the game they could honestly just freak the shit out of each other. Oc worries over if Tim will be captured again while Tim is telling Batman that this dumb kid almost lost his soul for the third time and is a safety hazard.
Bruce is tired from both of them.

Aaron Bushnell is the first active duty servicemen to ever self-immolate. This man lit himself on fire in an attempt to stop a genocide his country was complicit in, and one that would attempt to actively force him to also become complicit. This is what he chose to post to his friends and family on Facebook before he lit himself ON FIRE in front of the Israeli embassy in DC.
"Many of us like to ask ourselves, 'What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?'
The answer is, you’re doing it. Right now."
His final words were "It's Aaron Bushnell. I'm an active duty member of the United States Air Force, and I will NO LONGER be COMPLICIT in genocide. I'm about to engage in an EXTREME act of protest. Compared to what people are experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers it's not EXTREME AT ALL. This is what our ruling class has decided is NORMAL. FREE PALESTINE! FREE PALESTINE! FREE PALESTINE!.... FREE PALESTINE!" Before collapsing
Tumblr media
Talia Jane, @taliaotg, on twitter writes: "Loved ones of Aaron Bushnell, 25, reached out to me and gave me consent to post a blurred version of Bushnell’s protest today against genocide in Palestine.
“Aaron is the kindest, gentlest, silliest little kid in the Air Force,” said Errico, who met Bushnell in 2022."

Dc x DP Prompt #8: Best Friend’s Brother
Preface: this prompt can be used with different characters but I’m writing it as Dead on Main bc that’s my favorite. Also the colleges I mention are real colleges from the DCU
~~~
Danny Fenton was 18 when he moved to Gotham for college.
It was the only place with a half decent engineering program that would take a kid with his record; drop in grades, unexplained absences, missing class, a disciplinary record, etc. Plus there was a decent saturation of both magic and ectoplasm in Gotham’s air. After he got accepted he decided to tell his parents he was Phantom. They reacted surprisingly well all things considered. They were horrified to learn they’d been hunting their son but it quickly turned into acceptance to listen to what he had to tell them. Now they turned their obsession from hunting ghosts to learning more about ghost more humanely. He also managed to get his former rouges to agree to call off any major shenanigans in favor of less destructive outlets. (He got Ember a TikTok and a YouTube channel, he set up a drag racing circuit in the realms for Johnny and Kitty, let Technus enter the internet as long as he stayed within Amity’s grid or help Ember manage her stuff, allowed Desiree grant wishes for Make a Wish Foundation kids so long as she didn’t horribly twist them, etc.)
Now with the town not at constant risk of danger and his parents agreeing to really handle any rouge ghosts, Danny could leave Amity with a clear conscience. His friends were also growing up and heading to their own colleges. Tucker was heading to Ivy University in New England, which rivaled MIT in terms technological prestige, and Sam decided on Vandermeer University in Pittsburg, which had a reputation for being a very liberal, anti-authority campus. Although their trio would be spread out, Danny found comfort in the fact that they’d all moved from the Midwest to the Northeast.
With promises to stay in touch a visit. Danny got set up in GCU’s dorms, ready to move into the next chapter of his life.
~
Danny Fenton was 20 when Tim Drake (age 19 but nearing 20) officially became one of his best friends.
They had been introduced to each other by their mutual friend Sebastian Ives for a new Warlocks and Warriors campaign. Their friendship extended beyond WnW when they ended up on the same Applied Physics and Mechanics class. It was cemented when they got pair up for a project in class and had to spend lots of time around each other.
Danny didn’t mind that Tim tended to be a bit flaky and Tim didn’t mind that Danny was possibly not 100% human. They didn’t ask each other too many questions about that stuff. They knew the other had something odd about him and that was fine with them. It was nice to have a causal friend they could be normal with, without being questioned about their more peculiar behaviors.
They officially became best friends when the built a Rube Goldberg machine with a working trebuchet within an hour of the three they had to complete it for their Applied Phys-Mech final. Danny introduced Tim to Sam, Tucker and Jazz. Tim introduced him to Steph, Tam, and Cass. They texted and hung out fairly often. They truly did consider each other one their best friends.
~
Danny Fenton is 22 when he meets Tim’s family.
Tim’s 21st birthday is coming up and he has plans with his family the day of and is going out with his friends, including a couple from out of town, that night. They want to take him out for his first drink and it’s fortunate timing since it’s the weekend so nobody has to worry about classes. Everyone who was going was already informed that Tim would be spending most of the day with his family before Steph and Cass would bring to the club everyone was meeting up at. Which is why it’s purely a coincidence when he runs into them at BatBurger during the lunch rush.
Danny had just picked up the part-time job to earn a little extra cash to pay for his hobbies. Tim new about it but didn’t know the exact location he worked. That’s why they were both presently surprised when they heard each others voices in the drive through. When they pulled up to window Danny saw his friend leaning over a tired looking black-haired man, trying to stick his head out of the drivers window to give Danny a maniacal grin.
He quickly introduced the other passengers of the car as his dad, Bruce, and three of his brothers Dick, Jason, and Duke. He mentioned he had a fourth brother, Damian, who was still at home. Danny couldn’t really see everyone all that well on account of they were inside a car but he happily greeted them as well. They laughed and Danny wished Tim a happy birthday saying he’d see him at his celebration later tonight before handing them their food. He could the rowdy boys ribbing their brother as the car drove away and Danny resumed his work.
That incident seemed to have opened a gate because now Tim felt more comfortable inviting him over when his brothers were still around the house. He occasionally talked about his family more and Danny returned the favor letting snippets of his own family spill a little more. Occasionally, he’d see Tim’s family outside of his interactions with Tim.
He’d run into Damian, and sometimes Bruce or Dick was with him, at the museum or in the park while the younger had been walking his dog and stopped to say hi a couple of times. He chatted with Dick a couple of times when they were both in line to get coffee at a cafe. He saw Duke on a college tour once and waved at him.
The family member he probably saw the most other that Tim (and by extension Cass) was actually Jason. He’d ended up ditching BatBurger to get some more practical experience at an apprenticeship at the auto shop Jason went to to get his motorcycle serviced. The two of them got along pretty well and would often make conversation when Jason was waiting on his bike to be ready or to get his bill.
At first is was small talk about little things like how he and Tim were doing in class or how their days were going but they soon grew to have genuine interests in each other. Jason let Danny talk about space and mechanics and even gave his own thoughts sometimes, once helping Danny realize he was over complicating the circuit board of the device he was building. In return Danny let Jason ramble to him about literature, even taking the initiative to read a book Jason mentioned so he could talk to him about it better. Their conversation tended to be on the briefer side but were always enjoyable to both parties.
Danny actually liked being around Jason a lot but didn’t really bring that fact up a lot around Tim as it didn’t seem necessary. Tim was pretty glad that Danny got along with his family but he preferred to keep them in separate places in his mind. Danny knew and respected that, only really mentioning that he’d seen them recently and that they’d told him to say hi on their behalf (or die in Damian’s case occasionally).
~
Tim Drake was 22 when he came to a horrific realization.
Well, perhaps horrific was a bit of an exaggeration. Tim wasn’t necessarily horrified by the revelation. In all honesty he didn’t know how to feel. He felt an odd mixture of protectiveness, possessiveness, confusion, and optimism(?).
You see, Tim and Danny had been hanging out in the campus center, studying and goofing off when he got a text from Jason saying he was coming to pick him up for family dinner at the manor since he was closest and Dick was busy picking up Duke and Damian from their after school clubs.
“What’s up?” Danny asked him curiously.
Tim set his phone on the table and started putting his stuff away. “My brother is coming to pick me up for family dinner so I gotta head out soon.”
“Ah well I should probably get going too. Tell Dick I said hi.”
“Actually, it’s Jason. Dick is picking up Duke and Damian,” he said shoving his textbook into his bag.
“Oh? That’s nice of him. Hey do you wanna just head out together?” Danny asked, fidgeting with his hoodie strings.
Tim noticed a slight strain in Danny’s voice at the mention of Jason but didn’t comment. He just nodded his head sure and walked outside with Danny. They got out to the street when Tim realized he’d left his phone in the library. He faced palmed and asked Danny if he could hold his stuff so it wouldn’t slow him down as he ran back to the campus center to get his phone. Danny agreed to and hold his stuff and wait for Jason while Tim went back.
After getting his phone Tim started heading back to where he left Danny when he saw that Jason had arrived that Jason had arrived and was talking to Danny. He was about to call out to them when he noticed several things in quick succession. Danny was fidgeting with his hoodie, something he tended to do when nervous. The tips of Danny’s ears were a light shade of pink (it isn’t cold out yet?). Danny looked deeply absorbed in his conversation with Jason in a way that reminded Tim of how he talked about space. And Jason seemed just as absorbed in the conversation as well.
The gears in Tim’s head went into overdrive and he realized ‘Ah- Danny has a crush on Jason’. His eyes widened as his head whipped around to examine Jason again. He saw a look of genuine fondness in his eyes. Thus Tim was confronted with the aforementioned horrific realization and complicated feelings. Tim didn’t know whether to laugh, cry, or both.
‘My dumbass best friend has a crush on my brother. And worse(?), my idiot brother returns those feelings.’
DP x DC AU: Letters and Paper goods are easy to store, and therefore, easy to hide. Danny has drama to monger though.
Tim Drake becomes a ward of Bruce Wayne at the same time the Drake Corporation is crumbling, and his father's health is declining. Dana, his father's physical therapist turned new wife, isn't optimistic these days, and Tim can read the writing on the wall.
Times have changed and Bruce and Dick are treating him with kid gloves. Jason Todd is alive again, been there suffered that. Young Just-Us has proven yet again to be his true family... But Bruce 'welcomes' him home the second the fake uncle is sniffed out.
So, Tim rationalizes, If Drake Corp is going down, then so shall the reason he spent his childhood abandoned. The many, many archeology digs his parents left him for over the years and their many, many stolen historical pieces. Tim is ready and able to get rid of them all.
He first returns the artifacts that have obvious origins to the people with whom they belong. Then it starts to get a little hazy as to where each item stolen is from. The paper goods are the hardest to place.
Years later, Tim has almost completely emptied his parent's old home of their stolen goods. By now, he runs a fortune 500 company and is working as Red Robin. Going through the last of the archives means going through the very last objects his parents ever preferred over his company, and he can't wait to be rid of them.
A glowing green envelope however... this one he feels compelled to keep. He hadn't known it back when he started this project- but somehow his Parents had found objects drenched in the essence of the Lazarus Pits. And it wasn't just one letter, it was dozens and dozens.
Tim Drake knew it would be risky to move them, but he needed to get these letters to an ex-league member to understand what the language of the dead was trying to proclaim.
_____
Danny hates a fetch quest but apparently Ghost Writer is having a bad day. It starts with Danny running by the guys library to have a chat when all of a sudden, the question of certain... ghost relations... came up. Danny is always more than thrilled to hear about how the various ancient-as-in-old ghosts interacted with the Ancients-as-in-yikes ghosts.
Ghost Writer finally admitted to the monarch in training that if he wanted to know so badly, that he could track down Clockworks old letters. They'd been scattered well before Ghost Writer could properly work on the ghost archives (read: was still alive), and it wasn't until he'd long worked on the library that such affairs were noted as missing.
The potential for gossip was just too good! A call home to Sam, Tuck and Jazz to let them know he was on an adventure, and then Danny flew off with little more than some hints by GW and an annoyed nod of cryptic agreement by CW.
Danny goes about wondering Gotham as himself, not yet seeing the need to be Phantom, when he runs into the very guy he was looking for.
"Hey- you don't happen to have a shit ton of letters written in the language of the dead do you?" Danny smiles as innocently as possible as he watches all seven stages of grief play out on the guy's face. Then something changes and Danny can tell that this guy is like, scary competent.
"I do, however, I was double crossed and a shit ton of assassins are on their way to try and take them."
"Uh... Bummer for them I guess? I'll just take them and go- I don't even really need to keep them if you want em back-"
"Assassins. They won't exactly leave empty handed."
"Huh. Well... Wanna come with? These are supposed to have some pretty juicy drama in them." Danny awkwardly places a hand on the back of his neck.
A knife being thrown in their direction was enough to get this guy to make a decision.
"Let's go spill some tea then."
Danny grins as he pulls the guy through a rapidly drawn portal, ignoring the wide eyes he makes. Turns out his name is Tim, and walking him through afterlife drama is the best- how does he know so many dead assassins??? One of these letters is about a guy who took Tim's spleen??
DP x DC Writing Prompt #9
"Are you sure about this?" J'onn asks, reading the discontent amongst the Kents. Clark and Lois each have a hand on their teenage son's shoulders, who several weeks prior was aged ten years old.
"We're sure," Clark says. He is not, nor is his wife. But his son is, who lays his hand on his mother's and squeezes. It is that surety that J'onn honors as he delves into the young (but not as young as he should be) man's mind.
The memories are hard to find but not gone, hidden behind what Jon can only see manifested as a glowing green wall. When he raises a tentative hand, the shield sparks green, but does no harm. Pushing through is like wading through the consistency of jello, which he finds an overall unpleasant experience. But he is unharmed as he passes through.
Before J'onn can sort through the memories he is all but sucked into the one at the forefront, where a Jon most similar in visage to the one recently returned perches on the edge of a building. Beside him lies a burger, partially unwrapped though uneaten, and a small soda.
As the memory builds out a sun sets on a small suburban town, and a muscled thigh knocks into Jon's, an older man with a shock of white hair and eyes the same light and color as the shield formed around these memories appearing. He's tall even sitting, likely about as tall as Superman, and looks to be in his thirties. A full body suit comprised of black and silver accents stretches across broad shoulders, a stylized D on his chest. He knocks his thigh into Jon's again.
"You said I couldn't go back," Jon says quietly.
"I lied," the man says lightly.
"You're lying now," Jon says, glaring at him. "I can hear your heart."
"Nice try, kiddo, I don't have a heart in this form," the man says, reaching a hand out, presumably to ruffle his hair. Jon dodges.
"I know you're lying. You would've told me. You would've helped me get home."
"Jon--"
"You're protecting Clockwork, aren't you?" Jon demands, eyes beginning to burn red. "That old coot decided it wasn't enough to play with you, he had to play with me too."
The man slaps a hand over Jon's eyes. "Breathe, like we practiced," he instructs firmly. Steam rises from where his palm meets Jon's eyes, but if it hurts he shows no indication. "In, 2, 3. Out, 2, 3."
Jon whimpers but heaves a breath, and the burst of red light dies down from between the man's fingers. His hand moves down to Jon's shoulder.
"I can't pretend to understand Clockwork's decisions," the man says, as tears begin to pool in Jon's eyes. "Frankly, I don't want to. I suspect they are hard decisions to make, sometimes."
"I don't get why you defend him," Jon says. "Dumbledore acting bastard."
"Language," the man says, lightly bopping him on the head. J'onn notes the boy actually winces, as if the blow hurts.
"I am upset with him, I hope you know that," the man continues. "But at the end of the day I'm also grateful. Because I got to meet you." He hooks an arm around Jon's shoulders, pulling him in. "And now you'll get to see your family again. And Sally, Arnold, and Damian!"
Jon sniffles, rubbing roughly at his face. He leans into the man's bicep. A trusted adult figure, then. One he's described his life to. A life, J'onn is sad to note, he appears to have lived for the past six years, as opposed to a sudden shift in appearance. Jon's next question all but confirm it: "Can I really go back? It's been so long. They'll be all grown up."
"Hey, of course you can," the man says, rubbing his shoulder. "I'm sure they've missed you so much. They'll be so happy to see you again."
Jon starts to smile. "I'm going home."
"You're going home!" The man laughs, shaking him.
"I can finally eat some decent barbecue again!"
"Hey!" the man protests, "The smoker blew up one time!"
Jon continues, beginning to get excited. "And Ma will make her jalapeño cornbread! I never could get it right, I can't wait for you to try it!"
J'onn notes the older man's smile fading, eyes growing sad.
"And Damian will definitely want to spar and oh, oh! With you on our side we can totally prank Batman! I bet Alfred will even help! And Mom gives the best hugs, Pops comes really close but Mom will be really excited to meet you, everyone will."
"Jon," The man says.
"I knew you'd be worried about it, but they'll want to meet you," Jon says, clocking his expression. "They'll be grateful. You, you helped me. You kept me safe and taught me how to be Superman. They'll love you, I promise."
"Jon, I can't go with you," the man says gently.
"I'm not saying you stay, but you can visit! I'm sure the Justice League can figure out a way to maintain a portal, they're super used to all that multiverse stuff. Once they have the coordinates, you can stop by whenever!"
"I can't go through the portal, Jon," the man says. "To other worlds, I'm a god. And gods can't interfere. The only reason I can continue to live here is because this is the world of my origin."
Jon gapes at him. "But--but,"
"You're going to see your Mom and Dad again," the man says. "And your brother, and grandparents."
"I can come here, then," Jon says desperately, pushing his way out of the man's arms. The man is already shaking his head. "I can!"
"You can't."
"Why, because Clockwork says so? He's a liar!"
"Because multiverse travel is never a good idea. If you got trapped here again--"
"I wouldn't,"
"You belong with your family,"
"You're my family!" Jon cries. The man freezes. "You, and Sam, and Jazz, and Tucker and Val and Ellie and Pops and Mads, you're all my family! I can't just leave you, I won't!"
"Oh kiddo," The man says, eyes wet. "I love you too. We all do."
"So I'll stay," Jon says decisively. "For all we know my world is a wasteland. Gramps wasn't exactly right in the head when I left. It's better to stay here."
J'onn notes a green vine unwinding from a nearby trellis. It slides down the eave towards the pair.
"You don't mean that," the man is saying.
"I'm sixteen. I can make my own decisions. I'm staying."
The man cups Jon's face. "Your parents did not have a choice in losing you. I'm willing to bet they're devastated. Because I'd be devastated, losing a kid as great as you."
"Maybe they're not even there," Jon says, but the words are half-hearted, and it clearly hurts him to say them.
"I know I seem like a pushover, but if I thought Clockwork was sending you back to anything less than your loving family, I'd destroy him first. And he knows that. They're going to be there, I promise."
"I don't want to go," Jon says. Behind him, the vine rises from the eave of its own will, poised like a cobra enchanted by a snark charmer.
"I know," the man says, eyes drifting to the vine. "I'm so sorry, Jon."
"For what?" Jon asks, as the vine attaches itself to the nape of his neck. His eyes roll back as he collapses into the man's arms. The man hugs him tighter than is strictly necessary.
J'onn expects the memory to now end, alongside Jon's consciousness. To his curiosity, it does not.
"For what it's worth," a young woman spits bitterly, vines supporting her weight as she slips over the side of the roof. "I still think this is horrible." Her eyes are red and miserable.
"Seriously, team punching Dumbledore in the face," A young black man says, appearing in the air supported by a woman almost identical in appearance to the man holding Jon, down to the suit colors. They land on the rooftop.
"Are you sure about this," the dark haired woman with powers over plants asks. "Because to be honest, Danny, I'm five seconds away from punching you in the face."
"Jazz won't speak to you for months," the girl, likely his sister, points out.
"Make it a year," the man says, crossing his arms.
The man, Danny, ignores them all. He cards a hand through Jon's hair. "He'll retain the experience, but not the memories?"
"Yes, he'll be a perfect little superhero, just as you taught him," the woman says, vines twisting agitatedly around her, wrapping around her thigh, wrists and neck almost punishingly.
"Sam," the man says. "He needs to go home. All of you know that."
"He doesn't have to forget us to do so!" the sister bursts, eyes flashing green.
"Remembering would be a torment," Danny says. "He'll know he was loved. That's enough."
"Danny," the plant woman says, sitting beside them both. She puts a gentle hand on his, both on Jon's back. "This is just a different torment."
"And if someone finds out?" Danny asks. He has been patient amidst their scorn, but now a tiny edge ekes into his voice. "A god's child, unprotected? Threatened? He would never stop looking for a way back, and being vocal about it could get him killed."
The others are silent.
"He'll be home. He'll be happy," Danny says. More powerful than a prayer. A directive. He raises his head past the child slumbering in his lap, past them all, face hardening, and says to J'onn: "And you will say nothing."
J'onn takes a step back, fear so thick he could choke on it flooding his very being. Thismanwillkillhim, thismanwillkillhim.
This man will reach through dimensions and kill him.
"Now, get the fuck out of my kid's head," Danny snarls. J'onn is pushed back with enough force he enters his own mind in a vicious whirl that leaves him physically on the floor, gasping.
"I'm sorry," he says as Superman rushes to lift him, and he's not sure who he's apologizing to. Green eyes will pierce his dreams. Vines will crush his throat in his nightmares, screaming silence, silence.
You will say nothing.
"I'm sorry," J'onn says, politely pushing Clark's hands away as he rises. He's already beginning to calm, because he understands. Those are consequences he will not face. He will do as directed. He looks at Jon Kent, bewildered but unharmed, clutching his mother's hand.
J'onn reaches down and dusts at his pants. "I'm sorry," he says evenly, ready to spin his tale. Perhaps the Kents will continue to seek their answers. Perhaps not. He will stay out of it either way. He has been warned.
You were loved by gods. And to keep you safe, they would quiet us all.
DP x DC prompt/one shot :
After another tiring missions of helping Clockwork fix the timeline, Clockwork always assigned him "homework" of rewatching what he did and write a report on how he thinks he did (good, bad, what need to improve, what been improving,…)
As Danny was rewatching the scenes of a timeline being changed by him from one of the many screens in CW's lair like always, suddenly a static displayed on the screen for a few seconds and all his hard work of the week go up in smoke in front of his eyes as another completely different timeline take it's place.
As Danny was currently in shock, suddenly a green sticky note appear on the screen,
[ I am currently occupied with something else today, so as my official apprentice as of right now, i find it upon myself to finally tell you about the Speedster™ problem,
As you can see from what just happened before you, it is rather bad, as the timeline get divergent without considering the consequences, as my newly appointed apprentice, this is going to be your first official mission,
You will find that in the closet inside the room that you normally nap in, there is a new cloak and a time staff that will let you temporarily borrow my power over time, and a medallion, the portal will open after you go out of the lair,
A hint for you: Barry Allen. ]
I lied about only making one ship post :/
Thank you @im-totally-not-an-alien-2 your prompts fueled this one. Specifically this one.
Dead serious soulmate au but in separate universes.
In the DP universe soulmates are widespread with pretty much everyone having one. In the past soulmates were only seen as purely romantic and it was abhorrent if you didn't have one, rejected/cut off your soulmate or they died before you.
Soulmates still heavily impact DP universes present society but not in the same ways as before. Current day Soulmates can be platonic or romantic and while it wasn't as demonized as it was in the past cutting off a soulmate is still an incredibly taboo.There are different types of soulmates (ie the red string, skin writing, telepathy, shared sensation,..)
Danny shares pain with his soulmate. While he can't exactly communicate directly with his soulmate he has the ability to heal them a little through the bond. Danny's soulmate was always getting hurt somehow or another to the point he had an unnaturally high pain tolerance by the time he turned 14.
His soulmate hasn't ever healed him back and sometimes Danny forgot he existed at all. As a half ghost it was so much easier to heal his soulmate; with just a surge of energy he could completely heal any injuries his soulmate acquired and go back to whatever it was he was doing before his soulmate got hurt.
Danny was fine with forgetting his soulmate existed. Whoever was on the other end clearly didn't want anything to do with him considering they couldn't even pitch in to heal a papercut. He would still heal his soulmate when he needed it but he just gave up hoping for any kind of relationship with him.
On the DC side of things Soulmates are extremely rare and little to nothing is know about them. Damian of course is one of the very few people who had a soulmate; the small blue soulmark on his chest was proof of that. Damian's soulmark was ignored treated like it didn't exist at all until the day it started healing him.
Then his soulmate was his everything. His soulmate was someone he needed to protect with every fiber of his being and someone he desperately needed to find. Damian kept these beliefs even after he left the league and especially when his soulmates healing powers got stronger.
After years of searching the last place he expected to meet his soulmate was some dingy alleyway...
He could finally start courting him.
This man really just doesn't stfu and it's only hot on him)
Tumblr media
Spencer Reid being overwhelmed was an understatement. He needed to get out of that police station as soon as physically possible. JJ confronting him about his hostility towards her had not gone the way she had hoped it would, and Spencer was once again, fuming.
The Oklahoma heat was not kind to someone who only wore sweater vests, a fact in which he would later start to reconsider when planning his outfits to places where the heat had personal vendettas against the living. As soon as he stepped outside, it was like he was met with a brick wall of temperatures well over what they should be. As the sweat dripped down his forehead, so did the tension. He took a couple of breaths before picking up the phone and dialing a number he knew all too well.
“Speak and be heard, Wonder Boy”
“Hey Garcia,” A small smile formed from hearing the familiar voice. “I need you to look up someone, and find their cell number for me, if that’s okay.”
He could hear Garcia roll across her ‘batcave’, “Hit me.”
“Her name is Y/N Y/L/N…”
“Give me two seconds…..Isn’t she—”
“Garcia, please.”
He could hear the smirk forming across her face as her fingers flew across the keys.
“You’re looking up more than her number…”
“One point for Boy Genius everybody. Yes, I’m looking up more than just her phone number. She’s the gorgeous mystery woman who kissed your cheek in front of the whole team—of course I’m going to look her up now that I have her name.”
Spencer pinched the bridge of his nose, starting to regret the decision to call Penelope in the first place. “Can you just send me her number and snoop around later Garcia?”
“Fine Genius.” His phone beeped. “Just sent it to you.”
“Thank you Penelope.”
“Anytime Boy Wonder.” Reid hung up the call before looking at the screen, opening the text Garcia had sent him. He smiled at the number, and almost dialed before thinking better of it. Maybe after the case, he’ll call you and take you out for lunch to catch up. But it’s nothing more, Spencer decided. You probably didn’t feel the same way, but at least he knew that there was someone who wasn’t a part of the team in which he could finally vent his frustrations to. Now he’ll finally be able to get an objective view on the whole Emily situation.
Spencer looked at the file in his hand and sighed, opening it up. As he was reading through it for the umpteenth time, something occurred to him, and he quickly made his way back into the station, and towards his team.
_____________________________________________________________________________
Once the jet touched down in DC, Spencer was the first one off the plane. He walked through the hanger, and towards his car. He could feel the others watching him, especially Emily, but his mind was elsewhere.
He reached into his pocket and pulled his phone out, dialing the number Garcia had sent.
“Y/L/N and Associates, how may I help you today?”
Spencer didn’t even try to bite back the smile before he cleared his throat, reaching into his back pocket to grab his keys.
“Hi, yes, I was wondering if I could speak with Y/N Y/L/N?”
“Sure, let me make sure she’s available. Her meeting should be ending soon. Can I ask what this is for?”
Spencer pursed his lips before answering. “She, uh, just told me to call this number.”
He heard the person on the other end shuffle something around before answering, “Good enough for me.” They hummed. “Can I just get a name?”
“Yeah–uh, Spencer–Spencer Reid.”
“Give me one moment Mr. Reid” was all he heard before he was put on hold. He sighed and entered his car, chucking his go-bag into the passenger seat. As Spencer turned on the car, he heard your voice.
“Spencer?”
His face lit up, and a smile graced his features.
“Hey! Yeah. Um” He cleared his throat and ran a hand through his hair. “Hi.”
She laughed. “I knew you’d find me eventually, Doctor, but a whole week? I feel that maybe your profiling skills need a bit of sharpening.”
“Well–I was, I was working on cases. I-I didn’t forget—”
You cut him off, voice softer than he remembered. “I’m just teasing Spencer. So what do I owe the absolute pleasure of having Doctor Spencer Reid grace my line.”
“Well, I was hoping you’d give me your cell number so I don’t have to annoy your secretary…”
You were silent for a moment. “Well my number is going to cost you something.”
“Y-Yeah absolutely.” Answered a bit too quickly, almost out of breath.
“I expect a meal sometime soon, and maybe throw in coffee one of these mornings as well.”
Spencer smiled so brightly he almost couldn’t see the road as he was driving.
“I-I, um, think that’s something I can do.”
He heard you hum in agreement.
“What about tomorrow night?”
Spencer paused.
“I–...I actually can’t do tomorrow night, I have a team meeting, but what about breakfast the next morning?”
He heard you shuffling papers around and a bit of typing on the keyboard before you answered him. “Seems like I’m all yours Doctor.”
Reid smiled and parked his car outside of his apartment.
“Then you’ll have to give me your cell phone’s number and it’s a sealed deal.”
“Are you usually this good at negotiations? Should I start prepping my list of demands for breakfast…” You joked, letting out a small laugh.
Spencer shook his head before he realized you couldn’t see him. “N-No, well yes actually. It’s a part of the whole FBI thing.”
You laughed at his joke before giving him your cell number. “I’ll see you soon Spencer. Bye.”
As you hung up the phone, Spencer sent a quick “hey!” text before getting out of the car and heading up to his apartment. Maybe this wouldn’t be such a tense week after all.
______________________________________________________________________________
The Team isn’t stupid. They’ve noticed that Spencer was somehow in a better mood when he arrived at the office the next morning, despite the way he basically ran away from the jet. They also noticed he was spending a lot more time on his phone than before, especially since Spencer was not the one to text.
As Spencer dumped his sugar into his coffee mug, Derek came up next to him and started to prepare his own coffee.
“Wanna tell me why you’re in such a good mood Pretty Boy?”
Spencer pondered the offer for a moment before putting the sugar back on the counter, next to the coffee pot. “Nope.” and he walked back towards his desk.
Derek was taken back a little bit, but finished his coffee. He made eye contact with Emily and shrugged.
Emily was next, since her desk was next to Spencer’s.
“Morning Spence…”
“Morning Emily.” He quickly replied, and even flashed her a quick smile before his phone lit up and his attention was taken away from her. He sent a quick text, before placing his phone face down and started looking through his files to find the right paperwork to finish the consultation he had started before they left for Oklahoma.
“Wanna tell me what’s going on with you?”
“Nope.” Spencer replied yet again, and now that Derek was back, he watched the same look pass through Emily’s face before she looked at Derek.
Derek decided he was going to try a different tactic this time. “Hey Reid, wanna tell me who you're texting there man?”
Derek’s face lit up like a Christmas Tree not even a moment later when Spencer ignored his question.
“Is it…oh what was her name…”
“Ohhhh,” Emily joined in, “It’s the lawyer from last week…”
Spencer just shrugged and tried to stay focused on the paper in front of him, yet all he had been doing for the past minute was rereading the same line over and over because all he could think about was when you were going to answer his text.
“The lawyer, right right…” Derek smirked and looked at Emily, both knowing they hit the jackpot. “Wasn’t her name…Y/N?”
At the mention of your name, Spencer made the mistake of sitting up a bit straighter, which both profilers noticed instantly.
“Oh so Y/N has been texting you all morning huh. Is that why you raced off of the jet last night? Couldn’t wait to go see he–”
“No.” Spencer cut off Derek, looking up at the pair. “I haven’t seen her since last week’s case. Now if the two of you wouldn’t mind leaving me alone I have a lot of paperwork I need to make it through before I head home tonight.” He turned back to the file in front of him and tried to read it again. And again. And again. Eventually, Spencer was able to continue his work once Derek and Emily let him be.
But anytime his phone buzzed, he could feel the smirks from his friends, he just didn’t care.
__________________________________________________________________________
You were so over your entire day. Every single one of your active clients decided that they had an issue that needed to be resolved in the second they called you.
So when you woke up, face leaving a print against the wood of your desk, you let out a groan.
The little clock in the corner of your laptop's screen flashed the time, causing you to let out a string of curses.
“I cant fucking believe it’s 2 am. Fuck.” You grumbled, standing up and stretching your arms over your head.
Your phone screen lit up with a notification, which also showed that you had missed a few text messages from your favorite profilers. The last one was a, correct, guess that you had fallen asleep at your desk. You smiled and responded with:
Do you ever get tired of being right all the time Doctor Reid?
As you packed up your things, your phone buzzed.
Not really. It’s just in my nature.
You laughed out loud a bit, shaking your head.
And why are you still awake?
That’s when your phone rang. You held it in your hand, staring at it for a moment, before remembering to answer it.
“Hello?”
“Did you even check caller ID or are you trying to encourage stalkers?” Spencer’s voice rang through your body as you let out another laugh, placing the phone between your shoulder and your ear, packing up the rest of your things.
“Well Spencer, I seriously can’t think of another person to call me at this hour besides you…; and maybe this Baby Daddy who won’t leave me alone.” You grumbled, shoving your laptop into your bag with a little extra force than normal.
“Baby daddy?”
“Yeah, one of my clients, he’s a sweet guy—great dad. But because he’s so worried about his daughter having any sort of parenting time, he’s been calling me nonstop, freaking out about supervised visits. Like, I get it, but it’s fucking 2 am and I stop working at 5, maybe 6 the latest.
You heard Spencer hum in response, but no words. “Spencer?”
“Yeah?”
“You okay?”
“Ye-yeah, I uh–”
“Did…Did you think I was talking about someone I had a kid with?”
Spencer sputtered out a “n-no, why–why would…”
You let out another laugh, that was like music to his ears. “Spencer, I feel like you should have figured that out from the way that you clearly used the FBI to look up my office number to get my cell number. You would’ve found out if I had kids.”
“Y-Yeah I guess…”
“Give me one second Spencer.” and before he could respond, you put your phone down, and pulled out your airpods, letting them connect to your phone so you could go hands free.
“Can you hear me?” You placed your phone in your skirt pocket, adjusting your airpods so that they would be comfortable.
“Yeah? Is everything okay?”
“I just had to put my headphones on, I need my hands.” You slid on your heels, and walked out of your office locking the door. “Tell me about your day Spencer, I have to walk around and lock up.”
Spencer hummed again and looked up at his ceiling. He had been sitting in his apartment, trying to read, waiting for you to answer his text–partially because he thought the worst, but mostly because he couldn't stop thinking about you.
“Well. Not much happened. I was at work, and was trying to finish a report for this case I’m consulting on by sending them a preliminary profile, and then Derek was up my ass all day.”
“What about?” You asked, placing your bag on the floor near the office, going to check the rest of the offices to make sure no one was still there.
“Oh, um, well…”
You laughed again, causing his chest to swell again. “So it was me.” You teased me. “Excited to talk to me?”
You could feel Spencer turning redder and redder as the moments went on.
After a brief pause, Spencer responded to you. “And what if I am?”
It was your turn to blush, but it only made you feel a bit bolder.
“Getting a bit flirtatious, Spence. This is not the Reid I once knew from all those years ago.”
You could hear Spencer laugh.
“You sound tired. Why don’t you get some rest Spencer.”
Spencer sat up straighter. “No. I’ll stay on the phone with you—” He interrupted himself with a yawn. “Until you get home. What kind of agent would I be letting you walk home alone at this hour.”
“I’m not going to stop you, but if you fall asleep….I’m hanging up.”
“Fine—Just text me when you get home?”
You hummed and nodded. “Can do sweetheart. Night Spencer.”
“Night Y/n”
You hung up the phone and turned on your spotify, listening to some music that would make this fifteen minute walk bearable. You usually drive into work, but it had been such a nice day, and you usually don’t mind getting in the extra walk since you sit behind a desk all day.
You paused before you exited the first set of doors—part of you felt like you should just go back upstairs and sleep in your office. It wouldn’t be the first time, and it would provide a certain agent with a lot more comfort knowing you’re somewhere safe.
But then you thought about your bed, and the new sheets you put on the night before, and the weighted blanket spread out across the bed spread, and you realized you’d much rather sleep under that than on a stale couch without even a pillow.
You managed to make a fifteen minute walk into a ten one. Speeding home at 2 am was not exactly what you wanted to do, but you’d rather that then the couch. You quickly unlocked the front door and made it up the stairs and into your apartment.
You sent Spencer a quick text saying that you had arrived home, and immediately moved into your bedroom.
The apartment was a small one bed, one bath. It would have been considered a studio if not for the door between your bedroom and the kitchen/living room/entrance/dining room. Your bedroom was quite small, with a skinny closet, a dresser, and your bed. You had gotten lucky enough to shove your bed against one wall, and create a reading nook in the turret window on the other side of the room, which was only about ten feet away, but still.
You kicked off your shoes, and made your way into the bathroom, brushing your teeth and listening to whatever music spotify had decided to play for you.
You took off your outfit for the day and pulled on your pajamas, which felt so good against your skin as you slid into your bed, and shut the lights off.
You wished you took the first option when two minutes later, you heard your bedroom door creak open, and a voice tell you not to scream.
To Be Continued...
