LWA: Some more idle thoughts about narrative construction and both seasons, prompted by your reflections about AWCW's inability to see consequences and Aziraphale's already-vivid awareness of them.

Crowley's and Aziraphale's pre-Fall selves are already set into their post-Fall approaches to consequences. Aziraphale, given adequate data, is very good at predicting the most plausible consequences of any given action; unfortunately, he's also very good at predicting consequences when he only thinks he has adequate data, which leads to repeated disasters (both the 1862 fight and the end of s2ep6 being the most obvious examples). It's not an accident that he's good at interpreting prophecy. It may also explain the weird Jane Austen misreading, which has nothing to do with how Aziraphale fell in love (past) but everything to do with constructing an iron-clad narrative in which there's a definite, logical romantic outcome (future). AWCW is politically naive, but fallen Crowley /still/ can't predict what ought to be the completely logical consequences of his actions. (Hence perhaps his own misreading of Richard Curtis, which mistakes the climax of a romcom for its inception.) S1ep1 keeps coming back to the fallout of Crowley pitching his stories too well to his demonic audience. He takes down the cell tower and does himself in, turns the M25 into a sigil and both gets trapped on it and temporarily murders an awful lot of people, and...then there's my favorite bugbear. Fans tend to overlook the likely outcome of Aziraphale giving in to Crowley's manipulation and killing the Antichrist, thanks to Madame Tracy stepping in, but beyond the cruelty /this is not something that Aziraphale could have survived/ (figuratively or literally). I was thrown straight out of the S2 episode in which Crowley gives away the entire bodyswap to Gabriel/Jim during his "protective" outburst, because as script-writing goes that there was a decision, but I have to grouchily concede that if Gaiman were to show up and remind me about the child murder business, he would have a point about narrative plausibility.

Crowley genuinely doesn't appear to believe that his relationship with Aziraphale has a developmental narrative. There's no story to be told about it. As I've said here before, his accounts of their relationship do not square either with what's on the screen or with what the actors have said they're playing. For Crowley, they've always been friends, they've always been a couple, they've always had the same kinds of conversations, whereas what's dramatized onscreen is a more heavily-romanticized take on the /book/ narrative, in which they gradually become friends over the course of centuries. There's no sign that /Aziraphale/ believes they've always been friends or a couple, which may be one of the reasons that Crowley's confession doesn't land.* In fact, one of the things that is now starting to bug me is the problem of Aziraphale's relation to Crowley-as-angel, because Aziraphale's problematic assumptions about fallen Crowley's continuity with AWCW (he's not trying to reverse-engineer Crowley, he really believes demon!Crowley effectively still /is/ angel!Crowley, just grumpier) mirror Crowley's refusal to acknowledge that his relationship with Aziraphale has an actual plot.

My take is that Aziraphale could obviously have done a much better job, Crowley-wise, of accepting the Metatron's proposal, but there's nothing to indicate that he could have done anything /else/. It's not just a mirror of Beelzebub's ep1 proposal to Crowley, but a warped mirror, in which the whole point of the "coffee or death" dialogue is that the Metatron is not really offering Aziraphale a choice in the matter.

i didn't think to look laterally (not to this extent, anyway) at aziraphale and crowley when comparing their pre-fall selves with them later on in the narrative, but that's really fun to consider!!!

i absolutely love this interpretation of aziraphale's inner thought process, because whilst i had never really thought to see aziraphale as having an analytical personality type, he absolutely does; his approach to pretty much anything appears to be very systematic. in fact, im struggling somewhat to think of an instance where im confident that aziraphale reacts completely intuitively... maybe when he squares off against satan (crowley comes up with the time-stop, but where aziraphale chooses to face the devil down feels like he does so without any idea of how it could end)? any other action aziraphale takes, or words he says, feels like they've been very carefully deliberated over before delivery, even if he knows the outcome is going to be... well, shit.

you mention 1862 and ep6 as two examples, but, to me, aziraphale's way of thinking vs crowley's (which i'll come back to) is just encapsulated neatly in the entirety of s1; there are so many examples of where aziraphale consistently reacts to incoming data (when he discovers it or - when he deigns to - when crowley tells him stuff), and acts accordingly, and then immediately cycles back to analysing the result when it doesn't work.

my day-job (GO is practically The Other Job at this point) is largely based around analysis and research, and i regularly use a few thought models (maybe not consciously, but it's second nature at this point) in approach to a problem/question. so looking at the overall context of s1, aziraphale appears to follow a similar process:

scanning (identify the problem: the apocalypse)

analysis (gathering information/data, and identifying mitigating factors or outlying data: e.g. the hellhound conundrum, agnes' prophecy, adam is in tadfield, heaven actively wants the apocalypse)

response (how can the problem/question be addressed, and take into account any extraneous data that may affect the result: e.g. stop the dog, return to tadfield, engage shadwell and the WA, consult a higher authority through the portal, finds a human to 'possess' and get to tadfield)

assessment (the impact of the response, and any splinter effects or conclusions that the response initiated: e.g. realising that they had the wrong boy, identifying the right boy, where the apocalypse would happen, and that he and crowley were alone in stopping it themselves).

the last bit is especially indicative to me of aziraphale being analytical; he hears crowley say that god would not speak to him, but he still tries because it's a viable solution to scrutinise, and when it fails he immediately re-evaluates and then contacts crowley to try out an alternative, and share the information he has, because ultimately crowley ended up - on this count - being correct in his own initial, instinctive assessment.

obviously those phases of problem-solving throughout s1 are non-linear, and instead completely cyclical; aziraphale takes into account different factors and data at individual points in the story, and repeatedly comes up with various options in which to respond to problems as more data materialises - he continuously reassesses. initially, his approach to the problem of armageddon was to Not Act, and allow it to happen, because it was the great plan, and as an angel it was logical to him that whatever god had planned was for the best, was what was always intended, and would only ever be Good because... well, it came from god, right? had he perhaps thought a touch more intuitively, followed his instinct (which is arguably to thwart armageddon, the same conclusion crowley arrived at), he would have probably leapt on the chance to follow crowley's proposal... or possibly even proposed it himself.

but as it stands, he doesn't, and crowley gives him reason after reason to do so. all of this builds as significantly compelling data to aziraphale - to the point that when he's fully analysed (at this point) the potential outcome of Not Acting vs. Acting, he chooses to Act - a conviction that he sticks to. even at the bandstand, he doesnt sway on wanting to stop armageddon, but that the way that crowley proposes they do so not only directly conflicts with aziraphale's moral boundaries (killing a mf child), but also conflicts with aziraphale's sense of logic and reason (running away). and then as a last thought for aziraphale; he goes to instinctively shoot adam when crowley pushes for the last time, and is immediately thwarted by madame tracy - she does it as an emotional, knee-jerk, moral-based, human reaction, "you can't just shoot children!" - but given that that reaction is what aziraphale actually agrees with, it only reinforces that his way of thinking, logically and analytically, is the correct one, just because they happened to arrive at the same conclusion.

but this is where crowley comes in. crowley on the other hand acts very intuitively, instinctively, and i daresay emotionally - his immediate reaction to delivering the antichrist is panic, and to immediately call aziraphale (the narrative at the very least doesn't show any kind of analysis of the issue on crowley's part - would he have arrived at a different response if he had? and plus, as you say, him taking down the phone network was a class A monkey-paw job, well done crowley). but then he goes on to convince aziraphale into stopping armageddon with him (which, admittedly, does work, but only once crowley changes tack, stops invoking the emotional, and instead lays out the logical, does aziraphale agree).

when the issue arises of the hellhound (which, let's reiterate, crowley did not think to tell aziraphale before this point...), and the prospect of their upbringing plan not working because of this, crowley's reflex is to destroy the antichrist completely - but tempt aziraphale into doing it. when aziraphale pushes back on this more resolutely at the bandstand, crowley's immediate instinct is to just run. fair enough, given that crowley ends up being correct that aziraphale's resolution to beseech to heaven will just go ignored, but he similarly doesn't consider that aziraphale needs to test the hypothesis first, engage a more methodical and strategic approach, before resorting to more scorched-earth measures.

but as you say, this definitely harks back to the pre-fall scene. narratively, we still don't have any confirmation on what leads to aziraphale having any concept of punishment, or a sense of consequence; there is no iron-clad context (that I can see anyway!) as to why aziraphale would start to formulate this rationale - that asking questions might lead to a larger, damning (ha) consequence - when we can only surmise up until this point that angels would consider their creator as benevolent and omniscient.

AWCW presumably doesn't mean anything nefarious behind his questions (i think that can be reliably interpreted from his behaviour and delivery), so why would god ever punish him? this is beside the point, however; in any case, crowley tends to rush to a response, to act, without stopping to consider other factors, other data, and the potential consequences. in the pre-fall scene, if he had acknowledged the warning, the 'data', as it were, that aziraphale was giving to him (that something could go wrong if he continue the path he's walking), he might have arrived at the same action but with considerably more caution, and potentially prevented what happened to him (which, in contextual hindsight, is not necessarily a good thing). we don't have the full narrative yet to tell us what exactly happened during AWCW's fall, but it does seem like crowley is a chronic case of "fuck around - find out."

in this respect i personally find it entirely in character - and rather in-keeping with crowley's overall narrative in both s1 and s2 - that crowley reveals the ruse of the bodyswap in s2; he's not thinking about the consequences that it could have, but thinking entirely based on instinct. he's not thinking about whether gabriel/jim might remember the information, whether gabriel (regardless of his presumed reformation of character in ep6) might exploit that information, but entirely acting on the emotional wave that gabriel is posing a direct risk to aziraphale's safety and wellbeing. plus, we don't know how long he was sat in justine's restaurant for; it's entirely possible that he was three sheets to the wind by the point aziraphale happens upon him.

once again! not sure i arrived at a point! but i think in hindsight this is a really interesting way to read the final fifteen; it's fairly obvious that crowley is acting and reacting emotionally during the feral domestic, and aziraphale is - as metatron-aziraphale theories are indicating at the moment - acting and reacting based on a conclusion he's arrived at from data we've potentially only partially seen/data hidden in plain sight. but then we switch to aziraphale saying "i need you!", which is a hitherto uncommon emotional outburst from him, and crowley... saying nothing. is that crowley's way of thinking logically, analytically? because anything he says is not going to change the outcome - aziraphale will ascend, he will not, and they will still be apart?

on the note of their relationship, it's a really interesting dynamic - how crowley and aziraphale both see it from their perspectives. on one hand, you have aziraphale that goes from crush, to acquaintance, to confidant, to friend, to best friend and person he's in love with. crowley's perspective is... well, it is the same, right? so why does he retrospectively suggest that it's something that it, by all accounts, wasn't? look, maybe crowley was in love from the wall, immediately fell for aziraphale when he told him about the sword - but that's not what's actually shown in the narrative, to the audience. so... if he did, did he even realise it? is that why he looks back on their history as being something that, as far as shown to the audience, it isn't?

the s1 flashbacks are all shown from aziraphale's perspective (why am i only realising this now) - mesopotamia, golgotha, rome, arthurian england, 1601, 1793, 1827, and 1941 all show aziraphale first. the scenes are all set up with aziraphale opening them. it's only eden, uz, 1862, and 1967 that show crowley first... and all of them are pivotal moments for crowley's character development, as well as the development of their relationship specifically. that they learn to confide in each other, then they learn to trust in each other, then they learn the extent of what they mean to each other, and then they learn (or acknowledge) the danger of them being together.

so actually - does crowley think that there's no plot to their relationship? or is it that by 2023, he counts on the fact that the plot has already happened? that the biggest problem they confronted in his view - the holy water and the breaking away from heaven and hell - has been resolved (see: it hasn't), and that they've now reached the happily ever after? rather than the fact that we are actually only just getting to the climax of their personal story? which is also likely the stage that aziraphale was at by ep5, and is considering that crowley, by the time of the confession, is still a chapter ahead? "you go too fast for me, crowley."

(christ i don't even want to know the word count of this answer)

and this is similar potentially to how aziraphale sees crowley own angel-to-demon-to-just-crowley development; that he thinks that crowley as a person would want to be an angel again, "just like the old times, only even nicer", because why wouldn't he? he's a good and kind person, why wouldn't he want to be restored to the station and to the place that - in aziraphale's view - inherently embodies that? heaven has been corrupted, and he could make a difference, but heaven was always meant to be the place of good... right?

well, once again, aziraphale is without data - he doesn't, presumably, fully understand why crowley couldn't ever become an angel again, couldn't set foot in heaven again (not in that capacity, at least). so the conclusion he draws absolutely misses the mark; thinks this is the long-awaited happily-ever-after for crowley, when actually crowley is perhaps a chapter or two behind. s2 has shown more that crowley is able to somewhat accept that he is a good person, but he still has a way to go before he fully acknowledges it, and reconciles that with the, we can only guess, full circumstances of his fall.

last point - so glad that someone else spotted the mirror of the beelzebub proposal in ep1 to the metatron proposal in ep6; i think i gasped when i realised the implication of that conversation between beelzebub and crowley!!!✨

Luka is obviously introduced earlier in this au than he is in canon, duhh otherwise this won't really work

but Adrien doesn't meet Luka (in civilian form) until later on during Captain Hardrock - yk, when Adrien trips over that keyboard and Lula helps him up while giving him heart eyes and Adrien blushes coz he just met his prince charming? (but let's say this episode happens earlier than it did in canon)

this is the moment that Luka and Adrien's friendship (and crushes) start to form and grow as civilians rather than just as superheroes

before this Adrien was absolutely smitten over the Ladybug Miraculous holder as he is normally (in canon): constantly flirting, very touchy, will follow Scarletbug to hell and back - he even still goes as far as sacrificing himself all the time knowing that Scarlet will bring him back

but now he's met Luka and, oh those blue ocean eyes are so so familiar but so fresh and new at the same time

he swoons, in the exact same way that Marinette swooned for Scarletbug (in strong muscular arms) and Luka falls for Adrien the exact same way that he fell for Marinette (holding the cutest little damsel in distress in his arms)

(also, side note, Adrien wasn't there to witness Scarletbug and Kitty Noire meeting, so he doesn't have the slightest idea abt the similarities and he can't correlate Scarletbug to Luka)

also Luka hears sm about Adrien from Juleka and Rose (coz yk I have to slip in Julerose) and he knows all about how sweet and innocent The Adrien Agreste really is, and he can't help falling in love with that cute impish smile

Adrien acts like a lost puppy. He follows Luka around all the time during hang outs or band practice (because ofc he joins the band and ofc Nathalie helps Adrien convince Gabriel to let him join officially so that I can actually get my Lukadrien crumbs, also the Liberty has just turned into the gang hang out spot outside of school for the whole friendship group because I say so but I digress)

Adrien is basically Luka's puppy at this point and he's not complaining, he loves how much Adrien adores him and he adores him back, and he loves teaching curious had-a-sheltered-life Adrien all he needs to know about anything he wants to know about and now I'm just gushing about Adrien with puppy dog eyes, u can tear this image from my cold, dead hands

anyways ! as I was saying,,, Luka and Adrien fall in love as civilians but because they have other crushes (Marinette and Scarletbug), neither of them act on this crush or even tell each other

Then they all have a eureka moment where everything falls into place and they all kiss and live happilyeveraftertogethertheend :)

Tv Princess

Gabriel x reader, Platonic Dean x reader, Platonic Sam x reader

Prompt- “Give me five minutes to get over myself.”

Warnings- Forced (Fake) Marriage, Forced Kiss(?), Reality Warping

Idk man if you find something for me to warn for let me know, I’m really bad at warnings.

TV show after TV show. Sam, Dean, and I “acted” out the scenes. It was Sam’s idea to play along but at this point I was getting tired.

Dean delivers another cheesy line, and the world shifts, or rather glitches, around us. This time it seemed a bit too different. Where is Sam and Dean?

I walked a bit through the room. I noticed my shirt and pants are now a dress. My outfit fits the room's aesthetic. Or perhaps, maybe it’s more of the era?

Red and gold accents around a room that’s lit only by the many windows. It looks like one of those crappy dramas based around old day royalty.

I see a mirror and decide that if I am going to be here alone I might as well make sure I still look good. Ribbons in now tangled hair and white fabric create a perfect dress. Though, I thought white wasn’t a common color. That is when it hit me.

I’m in a wedding dress.

A knock on the door pulls me from staring at myself. I look over to see a girl dressed a lot like a maid.

“Princess, it’s time.”

My heart stops for just a second. This lady really just called me princess. Dear God, help me…

“Yes. Yes, of course. Just give me five minutes to get over myself.”

The girl stepped into the room more. She looked terrified. I felt kinda bad for her. “Princess, I know it isn’t my place, but I know you are scared of your marriage, but we don’t have time... It’s a bad idea to keep the Prince waiting.”

This is going to happen anyways right? If I play along and get it over with it’ll be over. “You know what, you are absolutely right... Let’s go.”

She nodded enthusiastically and we made our way out of the room. We were greeted in front of two large doors by a man in an old timely suit. He didn’t make eye contact or say anything, he just held out his arm for me.

After taking his arm the guards opened the doors. I heard music starting to play as I stared down the aisle. The man all the way at the end of the way was none other than the damned trickster who did this to us. I hid my anger with a deep breath. I observed the room and people in it as we made our way to him.

When we finally made it to the end the man who greeted me gave the trickster my hand and we all moved to a more appropriate spot. The trickster sends a smile to me. I just glare back.

He leans towards me. His smile is now leaning towards a smirk.

“You know it really is best to play along.”

I really want to punch him in the nose at this point. This better end soon. It was funnier when Sam and Dean were being hit in the “family jewels”.

~~Time Skip~~

“You may now kiss the bride.”

Please don’t make me do this. Please don’t make me do this. Please don’t make me actually do this!

The trickster grabbed my hand and pulled me in. Our lips met and I wanted to die. It was different. I imagined it to feel gross or weird, but it was soft and sweet. I could feel him smile into the kiss. This is. This. It. made me feel sick. I liked it and hated it at the same time.

He finally pulled away. I had no idea what to do or say next.

“You alright, Princess? We gotta a whole ball to attend after this…” He trailed off, then wiggled his eyebrows like a weirdo. “I mean, unless you wanna go straight to the honeymoon?”

I gave a tight smile, biting my lip. “Sorry prince charming, but I don’t roll like that. Thanks for the disturbing offer.”

He laughed… Did he actually find that funny? The trickster took my hand and led me down the aisle and to a much bigger clearing.

“Then perhaps we should just dance.” It was hard to ignore the actual charm he had. I let out a small sigh as he pulled me into a waltz.

You know. Now that I think about it…“What’s your name?”

He stopped for a second. He seemed genuinely confused, before he covered it with a chuckle.

“I’d rather not give information to someone who wants me dead.” He said smiling with a playful tone and stare.

I retorted quickly, “I’d love to say you telling me your name would help us knock you on your ass, but it won’t… Honestly, I’m just tired of calling you “he” and “the trickster” in my head.”

I looked up into his eyes for the first time since he pulled me in. His eyes showed adoration and enjoyment. Why does he look like that? I must look so stupid staring up all wide eyed. Among that he’s using us like a puppeteer, of course he’s entertained… But, why does he look so loving?

The trickster pulled me in a bit tighter. He looked a little concerned as he did, but he leaned into me like he was using me for comfort.

“Gabriel… You can call me Gabriel.”

So, that came out of my brain while I was high on painkillers and watching good omens. A special thanks to @the-bureaucracts-are-everything for hosting this event (I meant to say a thanks on my last post but I genuinely forgot so here it is!)

Day 2: Flies

People didn't like flies, that Beelzebub already knew. And that wasn't something exclusive to humans, no, no! Many other beings expressed their despise for those creatures, even if everyone was careful about saying it near the prince of hell. At first, Beelzebub was upset about it, how could all of them feel disgust over such small and wonderful creatures that made Beelzebub's entire being? It was like an angel being disgusted of soft feathers, or humans and animals about flesh and bone. It made no sense.

But anger soon turned into malice, Beelzebub would feel joy in sending a swarm of flies to eat alive a particularly vocal demon that badmouthed their little flies, they loved to make the buzzing creatures appear in the most inconvenient places and do the nastiest things in order to cause terror to humans. The lord of flies was proud of their little beings, but a spark of worry started to form.

"bzzz" the little fly was quietly waiting on their lord's commands. The fly was happy, almost too happy to stay put. The lord had chosen it from all of the others.

Beelzebub lovingly gazed at the little one, thinking it that was the best one to behave as a container. Would Gabriel feel disgusted by it? They didn't want to admit, but if the angel expressed any sort of negative thoughts about the little one, Beelzebub would not be angry or mischiveous, they would be sad.

"I have a mission for you, sweet one" the demon softly said, supporting the fly on their finger "I need you to be someone's companion"

The little one buzzed again, in excitement.

"It is a gift" Beelzebub continued "which means you won't be with me anymore"

The fly's wings stopped and dropped down, the buzzing went silent.

"I know, little one. Do you want to stay? I can gift another one"

The fly seemed to think for a moment, maybe even considering staying with the demon, but also not wanting the demon to think less of it.

"You're my most trusted, little one" Beelzebub comforted "what about you meet my…counterpart? You can decide then if you want to stay with him"

The buzzing was still low.

"I will not be mad if you choose to stay, don't worry"

Beelzebub felt the buzzing of agreement, still reluctant. The lord of flies opened their pocket and the fly quickly entered, patiently waiting for the next command. Beelzebub checked their surroundings, not wanting to explain anything to nosy demons, and soon projected themselves to earth. They found Gabriel exactly were the angel said: at a cemetery. While the angel talked about the beauty of the statue, which Beelzebub had to admit was almost too creepily similar to the archangel, the demon wondered if the angel would ever look at them the same way. On the other hand, the fly was slightly buzzing, as if finding something funny.

"Shall we go to the pub?" the demon said, already heading to the ressurectionist.

The walk back to the pub was silent, in a rather comfortable way despite Beelzebub's worried thoughts. The little fly kept buzzing, increasing its excitement once they finally entered the pub and ordered some beverages and a packet of crisps. Once Beelzebub sat in the cushioned L-seat, they waited for the archangel to bring their drinks.

"Here you go" the angel said.

As gabriel sat down, Beelzebub curiously looked at the drinks, not really sure of what to do with it.

"You don't actually have to consume it" Gabriel continued.

"Oh" they felt a little relief, not wanting to explore foods or drinks quite yet

"And the…" the angel motioned to the bag beside the demon

"The packet of crisps? Good"

Beelzebub was completely nervous. The prince of hell, lord of flies, second in command, ruler of all lesser demons...was nervous. It was all that angel's fault and to worsen things, they recognized a tune from a while ago.

"Is that-did you?" the demon stuttered.

"A small miracle" the angel said "that song will always be there, on that jukebox, to comfort the aflicted"

Beelzebub could not hold the smile. They had forgotten about that song, but Gabriel using a miracle so recklessly, with no high purpose, sent a spark of happiness into the demon. The fly was buzzing loudly on their pocket, not being able to contain the mirrored excitement, sending Beelzebub many many little pleads to be gifted to the angel. It seemed the little one liked the angel, or at least liked how they made Beelzebub feel.

"I should give you something" the prince of hell said, silently asking the fly to materialize.

The demon extended their hand, and the little fly quickly materialized there. It was standing proud, waiting for its moment to shine.

"Here, it's for you" Beelzebub said "You never know when you'll need it. It's a container, it's bigger on the inside. You can put things in it"

The demon was rambling, trying to convince the angel that the little fly was useful despite the apparently disgusting opinions about its nature. They genuinely hoped Gabriel could see beyond the incomprehensible prejudice. Beelzebub carelessly took a box of matches, a bit nervous, giving it to the archangel. Their chest was tight as they watched Gabriel gently put the little fly inside the box.

"Bye bye!" the demon said to their little one.

The fly happily buzzed inside the box, completely satisfied. Gabriel gently put the box on his chest pocket. A small gesture that Beelzebub took kindly, the angel seemed completely alright with the little creature.

"I don actually know what to say" the angel confessed.

"Why not?"

Gabriel was surprised, brows contorted in wonder.

"No one has ever given me anything before"

Oh angel, Beelzebub thought, leaving a sigh of relief. They watched as Gabriel softly touched his chest pocket, as if not believing there was a gift in there. The angel smiled, looking at Beelzebub again.

"Thank you" Gabriel softly said.

Thank you, angel.

Headcanons

Because I'm bored and I feel like character building without doing the work.

Beelzebub was a Cherub or lower before they fell. Crowley's "Something we used to joke about to scare the cherubs" was not a we 'Me and Beelzebub' it was a we 'Me and the other high-ranking angels.' My "Proof" for this is Bee's reaction, which seems very defensive. It's easy to imagine them getting like that over something they've believed for over 6000 years, especially in a situation where they're already stressed. Also, what better 'Fuck you' to heaven than making a low-ranking angel the Prince of Hell?

That being said, Bee helped with making all sorts of insects as an angel, which is why they like flies so much.

They really enjoy sweet foods. That and rotting meat.

One of their favorite hobbies is annoying humans. They are currently employed as IT support.

They don't change their outfit too often, but Gabriel likes clothes and buys them things to wear all the time.

The flies are both separate beings and extensions of Bee, they function as their eyes and ears everywhere. If there's a fly watching you, chances are Bee will probably hear about it eventually.

That being said, there are always a few flies following Gabriel.

AU April | Prompt: Royalty AU

Ship: Ash Williams x Gabriel Bowie

Word Count: 848

Summary: My first piece for my AU April event! Ash and Gabriel are princes in neighbouring kingdoms. Ash's father wants him to marry, but he'd rather play the field and flirt with whomever, forever. However, while evading suitors, Prince Ash meets Prince Gabriel while on a ride and instantly becomes intrigued. (1/2) CWs for non-sexual nudity.

Ever since Prince Ash had been granted permission to come and go from the palace as he pleased, he had been labelled as a wooer and a charmer. The village girls were always swooning around him and he ate up their attention like a child with sweets. He loved to show off whenever he could, breaking hearts all the while.

His father, the king, let him have his fun... up until his twenty-fifth birthday. Then came the talks of marriage and suitors. As soon as he realised what was going on, Ash avoided the frivolity as often as he could, sneaking away whenever the royal advisor brought suitors from other lands, both distant and not so. He would not be tied down, and so long as his father was alive, he was not concerned with running the kingdom himself.

Another set of beautiful girls was coming by today, but Ash had already gone down to the stables and set out for the wooded countryside on his bay paint horse. Outside of civilisation is where he felt most free, the wind in his hair and on his face, his heart beating excitedly in his chest, the feel of the saddle and horse beneath him as they raced over the sun-dappled forest floor. He’d ridden farther today than ever and only noticed as he came upon an unfamiliar lake. He slowed his horse and hopped off, letting him drink as he took in the scenery. He then spied an odd bundle on the bank and tread closer. Upon further inspection, he found that they were clothes, then began looking around for their owner.

All was still, then the water's glass surface broke and revealed a pale figure, their back half-turned toward Ash as they ran their fingers through their charcoal-brown hair. His breath was taken from him and he could not look away, even if he wanted to. He watched the figure, mouth half-agape before they looked over their shoulder. Their eyes widened and Ash blushed, immediately closing his mouth and diverting his gaze. There was a soft splash as the figure dipped below the surface of the pool before reappearing at the bank. They rushed out of the water and picked up their clothes, holding them over their chest and between their legs. Their once snow-white face was now crimson.

“You pervert, how long have you been standing there?” They snapped.

“I’m sorry, I was just...” For once in his life, Ash was at a loss for words.

“Just what?? Spying on me for your own pleasure? You should be humiliated in the square!” They ducked behind the treeline.

Idiot... Ash chastised himself internally. He glanced down and saw that the beautiful stranger had left their towel and shoes. He picked up the towel and jogged over to them. “Hey, wait, you forgot this!”

They snatched it out of his hand, still glaring at him. “Thank you...”

Ash backed away after that, returning to his horse and stroking his neck. “You aren’t with anyone, are you?” The stranger’s voice came shortly.

“With anyone?? No, it’s just me... though I guess you would expect a prince to have a constant entourage, wouldn’t you?”

The stranger reappeared from beyond the trees with a confused expression, now dressed. “You? A prince?”

Ash’s brow furrowed. “What do you mean, ‘you, a prince??’”

They scoffed. “I’m a prince. I would know another royal when I see one.”

“You’re a prince?”

They regarded each other for a moment. “I’m going to guess you aren’t supposed to be out here, either.”

A relaxed smile came to Ash. “No, I’m not. There’s some suitors coming by today, but I’d rather ride. I’m Ash.” He half-bowed, a hand on his chest.

“Prince Gabriel,” He bowed as well. “Running away from suitors isn’t very princely.”

“Well, I’ve never been all that interested in playing the stereotypes game. What about you, why’re you out here, swimming naked?”

Gabriel folded his arms over his chest, his blush remaining. “It’s peaceful out here. My father’s kingdom is just over the hill on the other side of the forest, nestled in the valley. I suppose I have no better reason, avoiding duties and all that.” He made a clicking sound in the opposite direction and a beautiful Irish Draught horse with an Appaloosa patterning came to his side. Ash’s horse lifted his head in interest at the sight of her.

“I’m sorry that I intruded. You’re just... well, I’ve never seen anything like you.”

Gabriel made a polite expression, but internally he did not believe him. He put on his shoes and climbed into his saddle. “With both of us missing, there’s bound to be a search party. You should go back and meet with those suitors. I’m sure you’ll find something to your liking.”

Before Ash could respond, Gabriel and his horse were trotting away from him. But something to my liking is right here. “Wait...!” The call had come too late. He sighed, hanging his head and shaking it as Gabriel disappeared into the distance. He hoped he’d see him again.
