I've just finished watching atlab and I was wondering could I request short story on platonic sun wukong and macaque with a gn reader who acts like uncle iroh , maybe this happens before the event of jttw( bonus of you include the lmk events as well from 🐰anon
Okay, so this is more or less my brainrot format and I hope that's okay with you because I REALLY LOVE THIS REQUEST so I hope you enjoy.
Wukong was a rather mischievous creature, with his brother and friend Macaque there to assist and sometimes talk their way out of trouble which rarely worked. After getting them kicked out of the Celestial Realm, they wandered the mortal realm with Wukong causing mischief wherever he likes and his brother dragging his feet and going along with his shenanigans.
"What did he do today?" You asked calmly, blowing your tea to cool it down as you began to drink it. Macaque tried to get all the leaves out of his hair as Wukong tried his best to look innocent but failed. The dark furred monkey sat in front of you before crossing his arms and giving a sideways glance at his brother, "Nothing much other than KILL ANOTHER DEMON FOR IMMORTALITY."
"Aw, it wasn't that big of a deal. Look, you didn't even get a broken bone this time!" Wukong tried to cheer up.
You chuckled softly at the both of them as you began pouring them each a cup of tea. Wukong continued to grin innocently before Macaque shoved him, only for Wukong to shove him back. You continued to focus on pouring them their tea until the shoving resulted in them hitting your tea table, causing it to move sharply, which made you glance up at them while raising one eyebrow. This quickly made them sit up right away and apologize to you, bowing their heads slightly. Finishing up with their cups of tea, you give them their respective glasses.
You smile as they politely and proper drink up, like how you taught them last time. You haven't known them for very long, only really getting acquainted with them a few days prior when your humble tea shop was getting attacked by a demon. You could have easily fought it off, but then they showed up and you couldn't help but become fascinated in seeing the outcome of the fight. Afterwards, you had offered them some tea.
Macaque was hesitant but Wukong was in once he saw the peach flavored treats you were gonna serve them along with them and since then, like stray cats, they kept coming back. Despite having visited a total of four times, you had gotten all of their stories: How Wukong was a bit of a troublemaker and trying to become the most immortal being, how Macaque his shadow and born from his flaws, yet they seemed to get along great. Truly, they made an interesting dou and you looked forward to seeing them.
"Y/n, can you please tell Wukong that his plan is idiotic and gonna get him killed?" Macaque finally said, setting the tea cup down. You swirled the liquid in your cup as Wukong scoffs, "Please! What's so idiotic about wanting to become the strongest!? Those blowhards disgraced me first."
"There is no doubt in my mind that Wukong will succeed in his goal, not only is he prideful and arrogant-"
"HEY!"
"But he also possesses a great deal of hope for himself, which I believe is the true source of inner strength." You say, before taking a sip.
Shooting a smug smile at his counterpart, Macaque only frowned and glared at Wukong again but then you set your tea cup down and stared at the golden furred monkey.
"But, there is nothing wrong with Macaque's concerns. He is your brother after all, it is only natural he cares for your well-being. However, that is just my opinion." You stated.
Wukong's smile fell and he looked at Macaque, wondering if maybe it was concern rather than flat out being whiny per usual that his brother said such things to disgrace him. Macaque caught his stare and looked away as he brought the tea cup to his lips.
"I wouldn't say 'care'." He mumbled, trying to save face.
You chuckled a little and silence soon fell upon the three of you. Noticing the empty tea cups, you silently began to pour them more and then yourself. You felt their eyes watch you intently as you did so, observing your movements. But you could also tell there was something else going through their heads.
"Was that you're only question for me, Macaque?" You ask, pushing their cups towards them.
The silence lingers a little more before he speaks up, "Why do you...do this for us?"
"Do what?" You respond.
"Well, like, I don't know...serve us tea? and just...talk to us like we aren't, you know, giant monkeys." Wukong shrugged, taking the tea.
"Well, personally, I think that sharing tea with fascinating strangers is one of life's true delights," You hummed softly, "and because, I pour you tea because I wanted too and for no other reason."
The brothers looked at each other, before Wukong just said: "Lame!" and drank his tea, burning his mouth a little as it didn't cool down.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MK sits awkwardly in silence, his mentor sitting next to him, and his brother sitting across from them. There is no arguing or petty fighting, which unsettles MK. Only the silent sound of drinking tea.
"So, um...what's going on?" MK questioned, not exactly sure to phrase his question.
Both of them looked at the young man before looking at each other and then shrugging.
"We're just having tea." Wukong answered.
"But, uh, there are only three of us. What's with the fourth cup?" MK inquisited, tilting his head to the side. Macaque looked fondly at the cup next to him before smiling at the brunet boy.
"For an old friend." He replied. MK nodded before leaning closer to his mentor and whispering: "So, uh, why is he here? Like, I'm happy but it almost looks like you guys are...getting along?"
Wukong only chuckled a little at his protégé before scratching the back of his neck with one hand while pouring himself another cup.
"Well, kinda like Macaque said. I've just been thinking of an old friend recently. Especially what they said to me one time...something about wanting to pour tea on someone or something-"
"Pouring tea for someone because they wanted too and for no other reason," Macaque corrected, albeit a bit smug, "meaning you wanted to pour tea for me."
Wulong scrunched his face in annoyance and MK was worried another fight would break out but was surprised when his mentor took a calm sip, and let the instigating comment slide. For once.
"Maybe I did. After all, you care about me." The Monkey King teased, causing Macaque to choke on his tea and send a scowl towards him.
MK, still not fully understanding whats going on, decided that as long as they weren't fighting that maybe he should just enjoy the moment. He stared at the fourth cup, which by itself seemed to give a serene and tranquil presence...just existing on the table with a beautiful sunset behind it, which made MK smile at the nice moment and drink his cup.
While I was reading your slider oneshot for the third time (sooooo good btw, i cant say enough how much i love your writing), I kept thinking about Ice and Sliders conversation about Carole-[“Me and Carole?” Ice said, thinking it over. He smiled his bitter, bashful smile— “Yeah, we might’ve worked out, once. I won’t get into the details. We tried it out. But I don’t think the timing was right.”]-What is Ice referencing here?? Is he referring to when Carole kissed him? Or did I miss something (entirely possible tbh)? I really felt like Mav when I read that scene ["What do Admiral Kazansky and Carole Bradshaw get up to when he doesn’t know about it?"]
The parallel of Mav being [redacted] with Goose and Carole liking/loving/pining for Ice. Wow! So deliciously complex. What an interesting little love square they have going on. Bradley and his four parents.
But man...Carole really is such a tragic figure in both canon and your fic. But I really really love the depth of emotion that you give her in the glimpses that we get. Her relationships with both Mav and Ice are so interesting and layered. They just feel very real. I really really loved the gimpse of her point of view you gave us in the Dad!Ice fic (the half empty box of cigarettes!! I still think about that)
this is such a sweet ask. thank you. yes he was referring to her kissing him (not really “trying it out,” to be fair, but he’s also trying to “prove” to slider that he’s still interested in women, so he’s using even the most tangential of evidence and holding it up like “see? See? not gonna give you all the details but Trust Me bro we tried it out😎”)
& also here’s from my notes in my printed-out copy of my fics from last OCTOBER (whoa). Referring to the scene in the hospital when Carole gives ice & maverick the instructions to pull Bradley’s USNA app & suggests she & ice have discussed it previously (they haven’t).
Carole is pretty much the only person who is around both Ice & mav enough to know the truth of who they are. (Slider also recognizes this— “ice let Carole Bradshaw see his happiness but not slider… :( que cruel”. And the whole “she is literally the only camera capturing icemav’s happiness on film for the historical record” section of slider
.) And Carole therefore is the only person to whom ice quite literally cannot deny that he & maverick are together, because she… has eyes. And is their best friend. and they’re raising her kid with her. So that sets her up as like a confessional character, in that ice HAS to be truthful with her in a way he isn’t with anyone else, including… his literal boyfriend maverick. so it’s a pretty easy leap for Maverick to be like, It’s a given that ice does not honestly want to be with me, a man -> but he is honest about his feelings with Carole, a woman who has expressed interest in him, behind my back (“what do admiral Kazansky & Carole Bradshaw get up to when he doesn’t know about it?”) -> Omg they’re having a heterosexual emotional affair. Which, like, they totally might be? which is why i keep going back to the *possibility* that they might have worked out once, had it not been for the simultaneous timing of ice falling in love with maverick, since ice is also Bradley’s no. 1 dad figure in my story. Which slider points out.
From a heterosexual family planning perspective, ice & Carole together just kinda makes sense. In a way that everyone in the story recognizes, for better or worse.
Even though I’m a multishipper most of the time, I wouldn’t be fine if MiIeven was canon after the events of ST4, vol. 2 more specifically, and how the love triangle was handled overall. The sentence “I don’t care which one will be canon as long as all of them are happy” has been very common around circles that love both couples, MiIeven and Byler, but I can’t bring myself to agree.
I wouldn’t be fine if MiIeven was endgame after Will’s feelings were used as a prop to mend it. El should have herself told Mike how greatly she feels about him, or Will shouldn’t have to urge Mike to say “I love you” if the relationship was to be fixed. (However, I think they are doing this for a reason, but this is beside the point.)
Will is a gay boy in the 80’s, lives in a small conservative town that already hates his family. On top of that, he is terrified of coming out. Amongst everything else he has gone through, he does not need a storyline where his romantic love for his childhood best friend is neglected, turned into a plot device in favor of restoring a hetero relationship.
If they wanted to make Byler as an example of a tragic unrequited love, there are other ways to do it that doesn’t reek homophobia (and queerbait). The love triangle is not just a mindless fandom battle between who is better for Mike (or who he “actually loves”) like any other heterosexual love triangle in media. There is a difference between the two outcomes. One of them being filled with homophobic and disgusting writing choices that led to cause more unnecessary pain and trauma for a queer character and the other is a hopeful, refreshing ending along with another step forward in queer representation that the mainstream media lacks.
