silly

ok im sick as hell and unfortunately also very bored so im gonna write down some silly naeishimondo scenarios ive been brainrotting for a while

Makoto being sick like me and staying home, meanwhile both taka and mondo barge into his house, bringing in homemade soup and tea (both of which makoto already got), and while they're being sad over the fact their favorite little guy wont be at the academy with them for the rest of the week, komaru steals the soup and tea cuz she woke up sick too (from makoto). An alt ending is them giving makoto a Liiiittle kiss on the forehead, both of them thinking they wont get sick, and waking up with 40°C temperature the next day

Them all going to mondo's house for a hangout-sleepover bcuz hes the only one of the three with a queen-sized bed (lil context, after mondo quit being a biker gang leader [in a universe where daiya is alive cuz fuck you] him and his brother move to a more. "calm" place, just the two of them. they still hangout w the other gang members though). they all watch movies and taka drops dead snoring the second the clock hits 10pm bcuz his brain cant handle staying up later for "no reason" (he has pulled all nighters when it comes to studying). mondo falls asleep second, and makoto just watches them sleep peacefully before snuggling between them and going to sleep too (imagine cringing over what ur writing help)

Going home in the snowy weather after shopping all evening (taka made them both come with him). theyre all holding equal amount of bags, until mondo grabs them all and speedruns to their house cuz hes FREEZING, and boy oh boy does he not like the cold at all. after that he sticks himself to the heater for like 10 minutes, while makoto and taka think to themselves that he looks like hes purring next to it (they both assigned him a catboy in their heads cuz it makes him 10 times cuter (also my version of him has a default >:3 face that all owada family members have (its more noticable on daiya but still))

Continuing the last one, theyre cooking together now!!! mondo kinda sucks at it, makoto is trying his best, and taka is this 🤏 close to chewing a brick over how they cut the vegetables (they look chunky (his autism can't stand it, meanwhile their autisms dont care/dont even notice it (no im not projecting not at all))). eventually they make a nice meal (of unknown kind cuz i can never think of foods LMFAO) and it turned out surprisingly good. yum!

Pet assigning. as i mentioned makoto n taka have assigned mondo a cat/catboy, but the same applies for the others. taka is a dog, obviously, but specifically a husky BECAUSE (im gonna be so annoying about this): Hes black and white, hes dramatic and loud like how huskies are, very loving (as every dog), and when his hair grows out more and mondo touches it, it reminds him of how fluffy huskies' fur is. makoto is a bunny, but i unfortunately dont know many bunny breeds so i will probably elaborate more once i look up and decide. hes just short/"small" and silly like one, and his ahoge going down when hes sad resembles bunny ears going down. (btw if ur curious mondo is either a tiger (still a cat!!!) or a persian cat. bcuz i cant help but imagine him as a chonky orange persian cat that on one occasion scratches your eyes, and on another cuddles on your shoulders. la creatura)

i think thats all for now! most of my other scenarios are even more generic, like going on dates (aquarium, cafe, cinema etc) so i dont have that much to write LOL.

Okok i'll give a domestic (or pet) animal and a fully wild one for each because goddamn i love this. I'll do only a few more main characters and maybe more if its requested,,

ADA:

Dazai, he is a cat, man is cat have you seen him? For wild animals though id say he would be a hyena, some of the most misrepresented animals, they are the cutest things and extremely deadly if they need to be. These guys hunt better than lions and are neither canine nor feline, they are genuinely some of the most fun and adorable little things ever along with being smart as hell and just gimme his energy (second runner up is a crow because they are mischievous little shits >:)) )

Kunikida is a dog,, not like a german shepherd though more like a rough collie, constantly herding everyone else. For the wild though he reminds me of a squirrel, very picky and fussy, he wants everything organized and done his own way! He is so picky and so are they, setting up nests and storing food hehe

Atsushi,, unpopular opinion not a cat but a chinchilla, very nervous and keeps to himself, but curious and fascinated when allowed to explore and try new things! For the wild definitely a cheetah, nervous and needing support but strong when needed to be!

Ranpo is definitely like a husky puppy, too smart for their own good and heavily food driven, loves praise and treats.... for the wild i'd say a bear, soft sweet to loved ones but mean to strangers, they are tolerant animals and again food driven!

Yosano gives me a hognose snake vibe, nippy but sweet and a little bit venomous, they warm up to you though. For the wild I would say specifically a polar bear, some of the most protective moms to ever exist and she definitely has that energy when it comes to the ADA, they are her family and she will maul you like a bear.

Fukuzawa gives specifically Maine Coon vibes, gentle giant cat who has one of the best personalities, for the wild I would say the wolf is perfect for him, a protective leader who gives his all for his family, wolves are devoted animals.

Kyouka is a hedgehog, shy and weary with a very quiet personality and excellent memory it just fits her so well, her wild counterpart would be an owl, a solitary bird who is immensely smart and quick thinking. They are also very quiet and can be considered intimidating at first but cute up close.

Kenji is a degu and thats that. Mans is a degu... in the wild,, a dolphin again i dont feel i need to elaborate on why lol

Tanizaki is a pygmy goat, needs companions to be happy and in general is friendly also tiny but tough!! For the wild side id say a lion , a pride animal who protects family no matter the cost

PM:

Chuuya is a chihuahua, tiny angry but fiercely loyal and protective of their families. On the wild end i'd say an eagle, strong willed, loud, competitive and powerful hehe,, but he'd be a small one

Akutagawa is like a mean ferret, he is mischievous and playful in his own way but also impulsive, mans got too much energy in him lol, on the wild end id say a stoat, somewhat independent animals who are fearless in attacking animals bigger than them and surprisingly good at surviving, he also looks like one .....im not wrong

Mori is a pig, too smart for his own good and gets into stuff, oddly sensitive and can be awfully mean,, on the wild counterpart.... a honey badger... i wont elaborate just look it up and you will understand....

I may change my mind on some of these but this is just like a rougher idea hehe

Fruits Basket Manga Review , ch 111

sigh~~~ I feel that my recent posts are a bit negative towards the anime, but thats cuz the chapters I’ve read so far are either unbelievably important character depth content cut for no valid reason or content in the anime but packed with million other things that it lost its purpose or importance. Basically tohu’s ep 6 which consists of 4 chapters & now ep 5 which is a momiji ep & yup, packed with 4 chapters as well... so, I apologize for any negativity, my intention is just analyzing artistic & story-telling aspects, I love se03, but yeah it screwed up lots of important characters due to its not so thorough plot decisions & harmful character insight choices.

today.. we explore Momiji... but only before his curse breaks.

Furuba anime struggling to know how to design an episode based on various plot-heavy chapters?

so, they decided 13 eps, & decided one ep for momiji cuz motoko’s graduation & the fanclub is the core of the furuba & have already cut tons of tohru, cuz who cares? she’s kind. be like her. end of lesson. No. really, jokes aside, how to do this?

How to combine several chapters in one ep? collect small snippets from chosen chapters/content like a bee does flowers? you gotta skip some content, you gotta highlight others. The ep is only 20 min after all & you got an op & Ed that you cant always skip.... so.. furuba team decide that momoji’s ep should be true to his zodiac animal, this is the rabbits last appearance in spirit. so, they went with quick hopping from one chapter to the other like a rabbit?

No really, ep 5 is really like a rabbit in its flow, you can’t savior a moment enough before jumping to the other: we learned momiji grew up!! loves toheu romantically, challenged kyo, really meant it, wanted a fair love game, got freed, lost tohru romantically & faced momiji! but that’s not all? we still have space!! quick add akito’s moodiness & love triangle with her dog & her submissive bed partner, add a happy comedy for no reason whatever & make shigue kiss tohru & wish shes 'was his lover instead!!!!!!!!! Mind you all this happened in the anime before shigure hurt tohru with his “the truth of the zodiacs talk & them accepting & feeling consolance that kyo is doomed”talk.

-Gets whats my biggest surprise after reading this chapter ?????????

Shigure is consistent!! He isnt a rabbit hopping here & there. The dog is loyal & is tired for good reason! Him being depressed & his weird talk with thoru makes so much sense given the manga’s order.

Kyo is consistent!! In the anime, momiji surprise him with confession he loves tohru & challenge him, then kyo la~la~la~joins them downstairs for curry. Not a single expression on his face, where is the expression? it will appear when the plot is forced to address it: by the end of the ep when momiji face hin again. Then we get kyo’s reaction.

I need someone to tell the anime that actions require a reaction. You can refrain from showing a certain reaction if you can’t address it now, but you can’t erase it, negate it, then make it appear when have to!!!! couldn’t they make kyo refuse to join them & eat together? the other characters wont be surprised they think he’s needlessly moody. The audience will know that kyo is troubled with momiji’s challenged & it will excite them!!! having kyo just go eat & watch the momiji/hiro/haru/yuki comedy skit is weird.

The manga’s author wanted kyo to join the dinner, like the anime did. but huge difference. the author actually cares for logic reaction & understands that the audience aren’t dumb little kids that will sit & wait for kyo’s turn to...react! nope! she did this: (a) & (b) below.

-Lost Small Bits/ Panels from the chapter.. But Sadly Big Huge Chunks for Characters buildup & Growth:

(a) addressed the fact the hiro noticed kyoru is in love & dressed that shigure was right!! the cat being in love is a weird concept to the zodiacs! hiro reacted naturally & the author used hiro to flesh yuki’s (the rat), momiji’s (the rabbit) & haru’s (the cow) decision to silently watch the kyo (the cat) makes his own decisions to live!!! They won’t interfere or tell akito or remind him of his state as the doomed caged cat. So sad this moment is cut from yuki. Why must yuki only interact with kyo to beat him (all seasons)? why must yuki only think of kyo to envy him (all seasons) ? Here, yuki’s growth towards kyo as a person & his relationship with tohru is 1000 times better than all tohru is my mom’s sh!t & I envy kyo’s Sh!t we saw in the anime over & over till we memorized it.

(b) kyo didnt just go la~la~eat with momiji after knowing he loves tohru. Nope, there’s small bits missing: called logical emotional reaction. He was surprised he’s caught pining over tohru! cuz yuki, the audience representative, has told us in the previous chapter that ppl in love dont notice anything around them. Kyo thinks him being cold hid his feelings. the dummy’s feelings are as bright as the sun in the Sahara, tohru too. a child read her! such small thing that wont take much space from the ep but was cut cuz kyo only needs to be responsive at the ep’s end. & this scene of kyo & tohru looking awkwardly at each other is minor in space but so important cuz kyo is determined to let go but his decision is challenged by not only momiji, but his natural attraction to tohru. Here he knows he’s caught & exposed... here he knows momiji is a better choice for tohru cuz he wont didn’t hurt her mom... here he knows that even yuki is better cuz never had to pretend to be cold to her... here he knows the world is better than him... & here he just cant help by smile & walks towards her... T_T ... another lesson in writing slow burns by Takaya-san.

-Why would the anime team pass on this?? drawing kyoru closer after the epic tear in Cinderella ep, cuz they want empty suspense~! The anime team thinks that if kyo & tohru stand next to each other, then it means all their issues are solved & the audience are so stupid as to forget tohru’s mom, kyo’s imprisonment, kyo not confessing his sins to tohru & tohru’s need to make a choice wether to fogive hom or not.. nope! you see, they think, ppl who read mangas are smart, so the author can give this epic symbolism & pp would still be not sure kyoru is end game & tohru will forgive him or kyo even fogive himself, but ppl who watch, oh no, gotta cut all the plot worthy content, produce a graduation song for a minor character, cut all kyo/tohru interaction cuz it only means romance & not at all character depth & oh if we show yuki actually formulating deep thoughts that aren’t centered around him, the audience might forget his se02 struggles! or that might ruin yuki’s upcoming growth moment in the finale where he .. you guessed it hits kyo.. as he always do & sulk & think abt himself cuz yuki can only do monologues when he’s directly involved.... man~it is so sad how the anime is dumped down.. Who is the target audience again? not kids as young as hiro cuz even hiro is smart!

-just look:

Momiji talks abt kyo shouldn't give up loving tohru & the authr shows this this ghost!!! his mom! The author reminds us that kyo isnt da~~~~ forgetting anything. He’s a deeply troubled soul & hos mom wants him locked cuz she too was locked in a cage & thinks that’s safer...why oh why you dump ur own story! sh!t~

Side Notes:

I like the closeups on Kisa’s face as she interacted with kyo. It’s very rare for kisa to have a world beside the endearing parental/big protective bro/big doting sister love she has with tohru & haru & off course the romantic love with hiro which was perhaps since their birth or sth. lol. Kisa & kyo arent much on the brotherly side as they rarely interact, but its one of those refreshing interactions she has that helps cast a new light on her as tiny as it is, but its sth out of the norm around her. She sees him around tohru & gets to perceive his true unprovoked character. “He is nice guy”.

I really wanted to punch kureno this chapter.. like Shigure is a jerk shitty dog for sleeping with akito’s mom but kureno... dude.. you submissively sleep with the guy’s eternal love interest & still walks in on him talking to her!!! lol. you’re mentally, emotionally & physically weaker than him & yet, she puts you on her bed, not him & you, tho not wanting her at all, dont walk away. No wonder shigure is defeated & wishing for someone like tohru, lol! Even if shigure met an older tohru-like person, it wont work. shigure deserve someone like him mean, schemer & loves playing power games. Tohru is someone who values honesty & commutation, not saying she’s an angel on earth, but tohru knows who suits her.. except fate is saying: NO. .... currently. lol.

I know kureno’s weakness is part of his character & I love that such characters exits. There are ppl ike that in real life. It’s just this chapter, I felt shigure’s frustration. XD

Yuki in this ep is the best yuki. no exaggeration here, I love when yuki is calmly thoughtful of others & here its kyo of all ppl !!!! cutting this scene is sad.. without it, kyo & yuki remain a cat & rat in the anime. Only ever thinking abt each other thro envious binoculars or hateful words or yuki giving kyo comedic hitting or life’s problem-solving hitting. Why can’t anime yuki be interactive outside his self-centered issues is beyond me.

Momiji & kyo’s interactions are always the best! whether comedy or drama.

I hated the curry cooking scene in the anime... so weirdly out of the ep’s flow.. very forced comedy... in the manga it had a purpose! not just quick add comedy cuz next shot momiji curse breaks & drama & we’ll close the ep with tears & sadness & glimpses of hope...

I love haru’s answer to hiro... so him.. “a guy can’t fall in love?”so chill.. so..simple.

i just finished kid cosmic season 1 and..

[spoilers obviously]

man..ONLY 10 episodes? I mean I guess it’s getting a continuation so that’s good. anyways heres my thoughts of the overall season and show

so from the animation alone? fucking beautiful.

people said before that it reminded them of gorillaz and I didn’t see it, but NOW I do. it’s so fluid, and it can be chunky at times, but like, spider-verse type you know? anyways it’s just perfect, it’s fluid, it REALLY fits the hero-comic style of the show. and the BACKGROUND ART. GOD. I WOULD JUST PAUSE AT TIMES AND JUST OBSERVE. OF HOW TRULY BEAUTIFUL IT WAS FOR ME. ITS SO COOL.

ok now for the characters themselves? first off, the kid, he’s just perfect, he’s so pure. everything from his tragic backstory to the connection of his scar? yeah. deep. but THATS what makes him so flawed, and ngl i feel like I relate to him there. the show is OBVIOUSLY revolved around him, cause. kid cosmic. but obviously for not TOO long, cause the OTHER characters, that are ALSO great.

like JO! ok, as a teen, i feel like they kind of captured the characteristics of what a teen would “act” in situations on these, so when jo would just stammer and go insane, i RELATED to that sm! anyways she’s a good character! definitely the mom friend of the group, I see her as kid’s older sister, and she’s badass >:)

MOVING on to rosa! I ALSO related to her too, bonus start off because she was hispanic! as a mexican person, I was REALLY HAPPY to see someone cartoon, on screen, that RESEMBLED me you know? anyways besides that, she’s adorable, she can be a perfect kind of that “toddler-annoying”, and ironically SHES the muscle of the group, but yeah, she’s adorable, she’s such a cool chaotic baby! <3

NOW WITH PAPA G. MAN. he’s like, my PERSONAL favorite character in the show, though I WISHED he had more screen-time but the time I HAD with him, I just, loved him, so much. first off I thought it was already amazing how STRIKINGLY similar he is to WANDER. like. they’re the same person i stg, i wouldn’t be surprised if his design was at first a humanized version of wander DRAWN by craig, if you don’t believe me? watch woy, or just SIMPLY OBSERVE the hat. he EVEN says quotes that wander would say and EVEN said when he was in space that “he thought it was a flashback” THATS EPIC. anyways from his character, he’s ALSO the heart of the group, he is so caring and sweet, and especially to kid, and the fact that he is old, idk why that makes his character even MORE great, because he is ALSO so chaotic and ecstatic for a old ass guy . he also gives kid GOOD advice since, he lives with him, like the “freaking out, breathe it out” quote? swag af. anyways as you can tell, he’s my favorite character lol. i love papa g sm. OH YEAH, HIS NAME REVEALED TO BE GEORGE TOO SO . BUT YEAH, LOVE THIS OLD DOG.

SO ALSO WITH TUNA SANDWICH. not much to say here, id say he got the LEAST screentime , makes sense, cause he’s just the cat, but like at episode 8, he starts TALKING, and it’s just 😳 I was SUPRISED, this kinda overhauled his character, anyways besides that and his kinda useless power imo? he’s an adorable old cat, i almost cried when I saw him as a kitten and ALSO saw BABY KID. like that’s so cute how he’s attached to the kid, and THATS how he uses his power in advance, huh, guess it’s not that useless after all? anyways cute cat, funny too, he fucking cursed too so..

now to the side characters? i wasn’t expecting chuck to TURN good? like ok? 😳 i thought he would just be that stereotypical villain throughout the series in which i can love sometimes, but that wasn’t the case? first off his voice change? I feel like that was good! his stitch voice is cute btw lol. and him having MORE screentime too? following along with tuna? ALSO good! also tom kenny did a good job with his performance of him! now the other side characters like jo’s mom, thought she was ok, I wish the others like rosas parents were in it more you know? also the ACTUAL villain? the biker guy, kind of weak, but he was ok too.

now to the plot, I was EXPECTING for this show to be STORY-DRIVEN, and not like a reset cartoon episode like craig’s LAST cartoon was, and wasn’t let down a bit! the pacing goes by fast, but it says EVERYTHING it needed to be said, and it’s TO THE POINT. like the little details too? such as the foreshadowing when jo saw a glimpse of the newspaper about the car accident in the first episode? oof. then it being EXTENDED where to the point the kid gets flashbacks and cries? that hurt, but that was IMPORTANT to the story kinda, it’s also WHY papa g did that fake robot thing, kind of dick move george, but HEY! he did it for his grandson! besides, it never hurts to he- ok I’ll stop LMAOO, anyways i thought the story was good, so was the pacing

i got SO ARTISTICALLY inspired by the art style and the background art, like GOD, where’s the background artist @ ? I GOTTA KNOW, i STILL LOVE IT SM. FROM THE SIMPLISTIC AND SORTA GRAINY LINEART OF THE DESIGNS TO THAT COMIC FEEL? IT FELT NOSTALGIC SOMEHOW NGL. AND I THINK THEY CAPTURED THE FEEL OF THE SETTING TOO.NEW MEXICO MAN. NOT OFTEN YOU GET CARTOONS THAT TAKE PLACE THERE

MAKES ME HAPPY TBH! anyways

the art style was cute imo, great shit here my dude,I already can’t wait for the continuation, it actually ended in a cliffhanger so that’s kinda poopy. but yeah! craig and his crew went ALL out on this show you can tell! his wife and son even worked on this, EVEN ANDY BEAN! a person that WORKED with craig in woy! It’s great! i almost recognized ALL of the voice actors too, except jack fisher, I had NO idea who he was, but to KNOW an ACTUAL kid CAN give good performances? really says something, HES A PERFECTLY good example for a kid voice actor, he was great! as for the others, and the STARS TOO? such as KEITH FERGUSON, AND FRED TASTIACORE, AMANDA C MILLER, GREY GRIFFIN, KEVIN MICHAEL RICHARDSON, PHIL LAMAAR AND EVEN RICH FULCHER!! they were no joke, and obviously GREAT! im surprised keith can do such a good old man voice, wait never mind, he’s done the “orlando-bloo” voice before and that’s kind of a old voice? idk. but here we are.

overall. this show? i rate it 10/10

cant wait to see more of it!

"Thanks," he mumbled, and left the store.

Entering a moment later was your husband, Hades. Well, Thomas for now. You could see the form of your love underneath the disguise of the Englishman in the way he moved. You couldn't take the god out of him, no matter what. You smiled dumbly at him as he flipped the shop sign to 'closed'.

"Hello, sir. See something you're interested in?" you asked sweetly, and let your fingertips trail over the leaves of the baby pomegranate tree at your end of the counter.

"Just a thing or two," the corner of his mouth lifted as he plucked a red flower from an arrangement to his left, and stuck it in your hair.

You took his hand in yours, "I've got another hour before I'm supposed to close up shop."

"Persephone," he sighed, a loving look upon his handsome face.

"Y/N, remember! And, fine. The mortals will have to go without their flowers tonight. You'll have to tell mother why, though," you laughed lightly, slipping your hand from his to tidy up.

"I'm sure she'll understand. There's a family meeting at The Garrison."

When you were finished, you hung up your apron, shut off the lights, and locked the door behind you. Hades Thomas waited patiently for you, of course.

"Will they all be there?" you wondered anxiously. You were the only one who wasn't part of the twelve Olympians, but the others seemed to tolerate you out of fear of Hades and Demeter.

"Where else would they be? Arthur is bringing Her- ahem, Linda. Ah, fuck it, no one can hear us. Poseidon mistakenly killed one of Ares' half-bloods that was starting trouble and now Ares wants revenge. He's likely planning on starting a war here in town, which will put our cover under scrutiny. We're assembling to discuss a plan of action," Hades rolled his eyes, quietly filling you in on the drama you missed while at the flower shop.

You questioned angrily, "What did Poseidon go and do that for? Didn't he know who he was killing?"

"Unclear. I'm tempted to just go back home. Coming and going here is getting quite strenuous," Hades frowned, slipping his arm around your waist.

He gave you a look and then resigned, "I both love and hate when you're right."

"I know." you leaned onto your toes and kissed his smirking mouth. His soft lips were always impossible to part with, so it was no surprise when he was the first to break the kiss.

"Come on," he smirked, pulling you along.

The peaceful walk to the Garrison quickly turned sour once you reached the pub. Dark clouds were forming overhead, a clear symbol of your brother-in-law's anger. With his short temper, one never knew what to expect.

"Where is he?" Tommy asked Aphrodite, otherwise known as Lizzie these days. She had a few empty bottles of gin beside her on the bar top, and was working on opening another. It took ten times the amount of alcohol to get a god drunk and it seemed like she was about to reach that amount.

"Trying not to get murdered by your brother," she rolled her eyes, gesturing to the deathly quiet meeting room in the back. The rest of the pub was empty, which only added to the sense of unease.

You reluctantly followed Tommy through to the back, the confidence you had previously fading with each second. Thunder boomed in the distance and rain began to fall.

"Brothers," Hades bowed, before taking his seat. You made sure to hold his hand, trying to reassure him and yourself that this had been the correct move.

"Hades. You've been told, yes?" Arthur Zeus asked, arms folded across his chest. His rings glinted in the lamplight.

"Yes, Hermes gave me an update," Hades answered solemnly, staring at Poseidon. John had the nerve to stare back, a defiant look set into his features.

"How many times must I inform you that this was an accident?" Poseidon chewed on the toothpick between his lips.

"Until I believe it," Zeus scoffed.

Hades frowned, rubbing his thumb across the back of your hand. This was going to be one dirty fight. Ares' energy was already causing this much tension, and it was probably exactly what he wanted.

After a few minutes the rest of the family showed up, save for Polly Athena.

"Has anyone seen her?" Apollo wondered, adjusting his suit jacket as he sat down beside his sister.

Hera answered, "I thought she was with you, Michael."

Then, the front door of the pub slammed open. The loud click of heels signaled the arrival of the goddess of strategic war, and you let out a small sigh of relief. If there was anyone who could help best Ares, it was her.

Polly demanded upon entering, "So which one of you idiots let Ares go on a rampage?"

I loved a lot of parts but,, it feels like we’re back where we started. Actually that’s not all correct, can we just applaud regis’ character growth since the crystal shard? He was a coward who ran away from consequences, will only Do things when he really and I mean really needs to. He was a lousy guy that when things didn’t work out or just to get what he wants would ruby pendant. But throughout the legacy he had to lead when bruenor was broken, he gifted his precious pendant to drizzt in starless night with little of at all hesitancy, he captured crenshinibon by himself ! (Well almost by himself :P but he did the bulk of the leg work!)

With Wulfgar back,, Catti Brie after 6 years and a mission felt it’s finally time to go back, that she could stand to be back. That place, in the corners of the tundra, everything reminded her of her dead fiancé, and after half a decade she felt she could finally face it again. I don’t really think you ever get over someone, you’re heart just changes shape, like a tree outgrowing an infestation. Now that Wulfgar is back, Catti Brie was the only thing that kept him going, and Catti Brie had been if not had already grown forward. They’re at different places, they can’t just meet in the middle the same way they did back then, it was far too long ago and they are very different people today.

When Wulfgar confronts Drizzt about his relationship with Catti Brie, it’s very different from when he did it in the legacy. I think he’s given up, but he’s alright with it. CB probably filled him in for all those years and Wulfgar comes to terms with, well, maybe it’s the best choice for all three of their happinesses. Also have you checked out that beard lol

We get back to all that we’ve left behind. To Bruenor and Regis, the pair left with no word. Bruenor was overwhelmed with joy, after basically losing both of his children in what like a year ? And to surprise see them back. They’ve been gone for so long and to see them together, you’d assume too they’d come for a blessing considering how close Bruenor is with Catti-Brie

Btw let’s check in on what the pair were doing in that time they were gone. Being pirate hunters w Deudormont!! So cool, love me the idea of CB and her spyglass, they’ve become famed legends for combat.

I enjoyed when they went to carradoon. This whole time we’d been on adventure to adventure, from port to port, braving through everything. We finally get to relax a little while still progressing. I like when Danica confides in Catti Brie about her pregnancy; nice to see that gals care for gals is a universal rule even in fantasy

Speaking of Carradoon, let’s talk abt how we got here. HARKLE HARPELL BITCH THATS HOW. He’s someone incompetently competent, he doesn’t know the rules but he sure does break them! I enjoy when he and Robillard are over doing it just to show off, reminds me of the way to reinvigorate an old dog is to get a puppy

P.S. I haven’t said this but I love to read to my friends, usually me and my friends will hang out on fridays on a discord call and I’ll just read whatever I’m on to them and explain stuff to them. I think I have more fun that way :P I try to put life into it and give each chaarcter distinct voices and accents - and it means a lot to me that my dearest fwends notice like when I lose an accent they’ll say smth like ‘wait is this *X character*? When did they get there I thought they were at *X place*’

P.P.S. I give a lot of props 2 voice actors and audio book narrators, and my poor dm’s that get super duper into everything (love u guys). I read for like 3 hours (don’t worry I had water and took breaks) but that’s like probably a normal day for a VA and it was really tough ;; we only do it once a week so I’m not in much danger of damaging my chords.

Muriel will buy you peaches whenever he goes into a market because he knows how much you like them. He’ll even try to find a way to plant a peach tree near the hut. Muriel will always be willing to eat what you bake and will blush a little because he isn’t used to having homemade food, especially not stuff this tasty. And you don’t have to worry about using an oven, because he doesn’t even have one lol. He was initially worried for your safety when he saw you climbing in high places, and still worries a tiny bit. He’s kind of gotten used to looking up and seeing you hanging out up in a tree, rock wall, or some other high place. He knows you’re good at climbing, but his arms instinctively go out towards you whenever you’re climbing up or down. He personally doesn’t have any problem with spiders, but he can’t stand seeing you frightened so he’ll quickly get rid of any spiders that come into the hut.

Chapter Eleven

Summary: When you hear that your recently deceased grandmother left you her property in her will, at first you think that a dinky old cottage in the middle of nowhere isn’t going to mean much for you. But after spending a night there, you discover something far more valuable than the house itself: a hidden door that leads to another time, the same place but over 200 years in the past. In the late 18th Century, there is a king who will die before his 21st birthday unless you can save him. Will you help him, even if it means leaving your own life behind?

A/N: This chapter is a little different, it’s in Yoongi’s point of view. I was going to make it Chapter 10.5 since it kind of occurs alongside Chapter 10 chronologically, but I didn’t want anyone thinking it wasn’t necessary to the plot, because it definitely is. Let me know what you think!

"Can't you just let me go with you, hyung? I'll be good!"

This kid. Yoongi shakes his head firmly, hurriedly grinding some herbs together for a last-minute clarity charm. "You mess up enough here as it is. I can't leave something like this up to you. Besides, Y/n specifically asked for me to go, didn't she?"

The shaman tries to ignore the way Taehyung fixes his puppy dog eyes on his elder. "But what will I do when you're gone? I'll be all bored and alone."

Tipping the ground herbs into a small vial, Yoongi's voice is flat as he makes sure the vaguely green dust makes its way into the vessel. "Then go back to the palace and keep Y/n company. Make sure she doesn't do anything stupid. Alright, I need to leave. Be sure to leave the portal door open, but lock the front door with the hex charm; do you remember it?"

Taehyung seems affronted at the suggestion. "Of course I can do a hex charm, Yoongi. I'm not incompetent, you know..."

Yoongi straightens up and stares at the boy who's pouting in the kitchen. Feeling a sliver of guilt, he sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "Listen," Yoongi says, voice gruff but apologetic, "I'm just making sure. I'm trying to keep you safe."

"Forget about it," Taehyung mutters under his breath, studiously ignoring his elder as he grabs an apple for the road and shrugs on a coat. "I'm going, like you wanted."

Yoongi winces when the heavy wooden door slams behind his assistant, and he stands in silence, listening to the the light scrape of Taehyung’s fingernail against the door, paired with the muttering of an ancient Chinese spell. Most of the magic Yoongi used nowadays were more modern Korean methods, but for the more basic enchantments, it was common to use the original spells.

Finally, all was quiet again. Yoongi cleared his throat to try and break the melancholic gloom he had slipped into, and double-checked the minimal belongings on his person before he left. He was not going to be in the modern world long, would not even have to leave the confines of the house itself, but Yoongi never went anywhere without a small leather pouch of basic ingredients tucked into his belt, the glass vial of a clarity charm dangling on a cord around his neck, and a small blade in his boot. All things proceeding as planned, he wouldn’t need them.

The first thing Min Yoongi noticed about the future was how clean and bright everything was. Gone were his heavy curtains, dark walls and sooty hearth. He emerged out into a hallway (something only palaces were large enough to have in his time, but he was familiar with them nonetheless) with a strange spongy fabric floor and impossibly straight, flat walls that appeared painted uniformly. He couldn’t imagine the finesse it would take a painter to manage to evenly coat this expansive surface without leaving streaks. Perhaps magic was more commonplace in this day.

Yoongi had been here once before, to lure Y/n back to his time, but he had transformed into a cat, then, and it was the middle of the night, rather than the break of day. Unsure which direction to go, he followed the hallway left, until he made it to the very end. “She said the communication device was in her sleeping quarters. Here, she wrote down some instructions for its use.” Yoongi felt for the note again in his pocket, comforted by the crisp edge of the thick paper. He had read that note to the point of rote-memory, but was glad it was there anyway. All Yoongi had to do was locate a bedroom, and then the ‘phone’ would be on a wooden stand beside it. He was actually feeling some excitement unfurl within him to find this device; from Y/n’s description, it sounded like a very complexly enchanted item.

As Yoongi made his way from room to room methodically, ignoring everything that wasn’t a bed (even though he was desperately curious to try out the bath – something he recognised from his time, but seemed far more refined) he thought over his previous encounter with Taehyung.

Was there really such a need for Taehyung to take everything to heart all the time? That boy was too sensitive for his own good. It would get him hurt one day.

When Taehyung and Yoongi met, almost three years ago, the shaman wasn’t looking for anyone. In fact, he had sworn off ever taking an assistant again after… what had happened with the last one, but Taehyung was insistent. His parents didn’t want him working on their farm anymore, he had said, and the King’s Guard wouldn’t take him in. He would have nowhere else to go. Perhaps Yoongi should’ve seen that as a sign that the boy wasn’t a particularly capable worker, but instead he had opened his arms and welcomed him in. He never had been able to say no to a pretty face. Yoongi thought maybe that was his biggest flaw yet.

Behind the fourth or fifth door, past the small door in the wall from whence he came, Yoongi found a bed, wider and more lushly decorated than the modest shelf-and-blanket combination he had. Letting out a gasp of relief at the chance to distract himself from the memories of his assistants, he rushed forward into the room, scanning it for a wooden stand.

Directly to the right of the bed is a short, squarish cabinet. On top is a small metal box with glowing red numbers, a very glossy and crisp book, and a small black device. Yoongi consults with the slip of paper, and tentatively touches the tip of his finger to a protruding button. Gasping with wonder as the surface lights up, Yoongi realizes there are words on the screen, all gathered in small boxes. He takes the time to read some of them, having to re-press that button as the screen keeps going dark after a few moments.

Jimin, 8:21pm: r you still busy at the house? can u please just text me back baby, if ur busy thats okay, im just a little worried out u, thats all… it’s getting late…

Jimin, 10:49am: okay, im heading off to work, flick me a text when u get this xxx

Jimin, yesterday 5:11pm: we dont have to if you don’t want to

Jimin, yesterday 4:28pm: date night tonight? xxx i feel like i havent seen you in ages baby xxx

There are more, but they disappear out the bottom. Yoongi frowns. He thinks he remembers this Jimin; if memory serves, it was the sleeping male curling up to Y/n when he briefly visited her dreamscape. Yoongi had been so caught up in making sure she fulfilled her end of the deal that he had almost forgotten she had a life outside of their time. Those messages were a sobering reminder of how much Yoongi was asking from her. How much she was giving up. He didn’t like that feeling.

Clearing his throat noisily in the early evening silence, he picks up the device delicately and places it on the bed, flattening out the note beside it. Y/n’s instructions make sense as he follows along, although it takes him a while to work out what she means by ‘text bubble icon’.

Once he reaches that screen, and clicks on the name ‘Jimin’, those same messages appear, but in a different format. “I’ve already seen these,” he tells the device. The device does not respond. “I seek to create one of my own.” He sighs. The magic on this glass apparently cannot react to voice, only touch. He reaches out and clicks on the small white box that says ‘iMessage’ in grey. “Yes, I do want to message,” he mumbles distractedly. A large array of small letters appears below. Y/n wrote down to tap each square to write the letter. It seems an awfully impersonal way of writing, and it takes Yoongi quite a long time to tap out what Y/n has asked him to write, as well as pressing a small blue arrow to the right, which pushes the message upwards, resting directly below those from the Jimin.

Yoongi sighs once he finishes, resting back on the bed, but soon three bouncing dots appear in a box. He watches them dance, fascinated, wondering what this could mean, until they change into words. Y/n did tell him that Jimin would be likely to reply and had simply written on the bottom of the note, ‘no apostrophes, or capital letters, call him baby or jiminie, and make sure he doesn’t come out to the house!’

Jimin: omg thank god ur safe i was worried!!! i can bring u round some fresh soup and we can have a night in xxx ive already had my flu jab so i wont get sick i promise lol xx

Yoongi swears, trying to speed up his reply, double-checking Y/n’s rules as he goes.

thank you, baby, thats very kind of you. but please dont come out, im just going to go to sleep and hope that this sickness passes in time. i will notify you once

But before he can finish crudely dictating a message, a series of three hard raps echoes through the house. Yoongi stands up ramrod stiff. Surely the Jimin boy hadn’t arrived so soon? Although, Yoongi supposes transport must be more efficient in this time. He bites his lip nervously. Surely, it would be best to go ask him to leave. It was Y/n’s intention that Jimin did not come to the house, since she herself was absent, and Yoongi could not have the boy roaming around and discovering the portal’s entrance.

“Y/n?” a deep voice calls out, muffled through the walls. Yoongi swears under his breath and pockets the small device and the note, getting off the bed to go find the front door. “Are you there?” Hurrying faster, the shaman eventually locates a door with a clouded glass panel revealing a tall shadow. He fumbles with the doorknob, having to twist a key (thank God that technology hasn’t changed) to unlock it, and throws it open with a nervous huff. The man blinks once, furrowing his eyebrows. “Uh…hi?”

“Yes, hello,” Yoongi blurts out hastily, eyes roaming over the tall man. Although he saw Jimin in very dim lighting, it’s easy to tell that this is not the same man. “Who are you?”

The man is wearing rough-looking blue pants with a belt, and a tunic that’s cut at his hips instead of his legs. He holds a hand out to Yoongi. Yoongi stares at it until the man coughs and lowers it. “My name’s Namjoon. I didn’t mean to interrupt, I’m just here to speak to Y/n.”

“What-” Yoongi’s words catch in his throat when he lifts his gaze from the man’s odd attire to his face. It can’t be. A bolt of deeply-repressed hurt cuts through him. He recognizes those dimples, that smile, even the name is the same as his. It was a face he never thought he’d see again. But, no. It isn’t him. The more Yoongi looks at him closely, the man going a little red in the cheeks under the sudden scrutiny, Yoongi can see the finer details aren’t right. His Namjoon had a narrow nose, more delicate face. His Namjoon wasn’t as tall and was skinnier too. This man in front of him bore shocking resemblance, but it wasn’t him. It wasn’t his Namjoon. Sensing he had been silent too long, Yoongi blinks away the tears that threaten to well. “What for?”

“Oh, uh, it’s kind of private business, dude. Sorry, I didn’t catch your name.”

“Y/n’s sick,” Yoongi says instead, “so I’m afraid you can’t come in. I’m more than happy to pass on a message.”

The man who looks so much like his former assistant furrows his brows. “I’m sorry, who are you? I’d like to speak with her. I’ve been doing some more research for her, you see, really cool stuff on-”

“I’m her doctor,” Yoongi says instead, “I’m concerned she may be contagious, so I’ve advised her not to have guests. If you have the research with you, perhaps I can bring it inside. I’m sure she’d appreciate you coming.”

The guy laughs awkwardly, then digs into a bag at his side for a stack of pieces of paper bound in some floppy, slippery pink material. “I didn’t have time to pick up a ringbinder, so the photocopies are loose, but I managed to dig up quite a bit of the history on the Jeon reign, as well as all the following generations. It’s interesting! Hopefully she’ll get some use out of it.” The man hands the research over, craning his neck to try and glance down the hallway. “Can you tell her hi for me? And that I’m sorry for stopping by without texting ahead.”

Yoongi nods, half in a daze. He doesn’t know this strange feeling in his chest; does he want this Namjoon-not-Namjoon man to leave and never think about him again, or does he wish he would stay so that Yoongi can see just how much similarity there was? The thought comes too late, as the man turns and skips down the gravel path, getting into his car and pulling away without a second look back.

The shaman shuts the door, returning the key to its previous position, and sinks down on the floor. First Taehyung acting up, reminding him of his last assistant, and now this. The fates were being cruel today.

Forgetting about the small device still in his herbs pouch, Yoongi quickly returns to the hallway and crawls through the doorway and back into his own time, trying to ignore the hot tears that gather under his chin.

Rockman.EXE Episode 41 Review.

The cutest and funniest episode of Rockman.EXE I’ve seen so far!

“Good” is a relative term.

We open the episode with some shots of Densan city under a thunder storm. A lightning bolt hits a building causing a black out, and for some reason the lightning bolt also appears in the cyber world shocking a strange glass case with what looks like a cat inside. The cat escapes and somehow appears as a giant in the real world, covering the whole city with it’s shadow.

After the title card, we see a dog happily munching on a bone when something strange walks by causing it to drop the bone in shock.

The strange creature stops in front of Netto’s house where we see our blue bandana boy enjoying some curry his useless mom brought him along with some tea while Midorikawa talks in the news about the weird cat shadow seen last night.

Netto finishes his meal, but notices that the tea is missing.

What is wrong with this woman? In what universe is that normal?! (oh, right, anime, and maybe Charlie Brown)

Netto is understandibly confused about seeing Rush in the real world, he even touches him to see if he is a hologram.

He is not. I doubt Rush has hair, so I guess his head must feel pretty smooth.

Right after this, Netto receives a phone call from Meiru-chan telling him that she can’t find Rush. Netto tells her that Rush is drinking tea at his house, they are both confused about this so they think their Navis might know what is going on.

Netto runs to his room to talk to Rockman, but...

I got to be honest, the first time I saw this I was actually expecting to see Rockman on Netto’s bed or something, but that already happened in the manga, and it was freaking hilarious! XD

Also, Netto’s mom was called out for being so calm in weird situations.

Anyway, instead, Netto and Meiru get this.

Both Rock and Roll have become cat navis. Their confused netops ask them why they look like that, but nya-ther of them know the cause.

According to Japan, cats say “Nya” instead of “Meow”. The more you know.

Inmediately after, Netto receives calls from Dekao, Yaito and Tohru at the same time, their Navis have also been turned into cats.

Iceman is playing with Gutsman tail during this scene. X3

Not only our heroes, but according to Midorikawa, the whole net has been affected, Navis and viruses everywhere have turn into cats for some unknowen reason.

LOL, Higure’s face.

Like we need a reminder that CGI is inmune to these kinds of things. But if that’s the case, then how come she was under the control of a virus in episode 27?

Netto and friends are wondering whats going on, luckily for them, Netto’s dad appears out of nowhere to give them the answer.

“Where the hell have you been?!”

“Doing computer stuff in the Bahamas, nothing out of the ordinary”

Seriously, nobody asks about the tan! O-O

Netto’s new tanned dad tells them that the cause of everything is a new computer virus that escaped a research lab last night. The virus is called the “Neko Virus”, which means “Cat virus”, and it has the ability to transform Navis and other viruses into cats.

Netto asks about Rush appearing in the real world as well, but amazingly enough, his dad has no clue and doesn’t think it’s related to the Neko virus. After taking another look at his adorable new cat navi, Netto asks if there is a way to change them back.

At least somebody finds her useful.

We cut to the Net Agents ready to jump into action.

But somehow they didn’t realize that their Navis were also affected by the Neko virus. The worst part is that Sharkman is still a fish.

Not the kind of catfish you’d expect to see in the internet-nya? :3

After a pointless scene of Netto’s useless mom serving them lunch, and Rush trying to seem charming, we see the Navis thinking in the cyberworld until something suddenly happens to Iceman.

Yuichiro tells them that if they don’t get a vaccine soon, the Navis will permanently become cats and that the speed of the transformation depends on the size of the Navi. The vaccine might not be ready on time, so their only hope is to find and capture the Neko Virus.

In the next scene we see the five Navis walking around an empty Internet City trying to find the virus.

That’s a brilliant plan, Rockman. Also, wasn’t Iceman’s body transformed in the last scene? And where is his tail? Just how consistent is the animation for this episode?

They even look for the Neko virus at a ball shop, yes, a “Ball” shop, just so we can get this scene where one of the balls fall out forcing the Navis, except for Iceman, to fight their feline instincs of playing with it.

I’m all for the Rockman butt shots, but do we have to see Gutsman’s butt too? And there is a coloring mistake in the fourth panel which answers my question of the animation quality for this episode.

The Navis keep searching knowing that they can now relate to the Neko virus, they deduced that the virus is taking a nap, since cats love to take naps, and the best place for that is the park.

They arrive at Internet city’s park where they find the Neko virus sleeping and they try to ambush it, but the virus wakes up and scratches Gutsman out of its way.

Gutsman gets angry and tries to attack the Neko virus, but ends up getting his claws stuck.

Now, lets forget for a moment that Battle chips are not allowed in Internet City and just enjoy this next scene.

Rockman gives chase to the Neko virus, Netto sends him a Mini Bomb, but since the bomb is round you can guess where this is going.

“Iceman got to play with a ball, it was my turn!”

Netto then sends a Sword, but for some reason it won’t appear, so Rockman tries to attack the Neko virus with his claws, but he misses and gets scratched instead.

Neko virus uses fury swipes, its a critical hit.

The Neko virus dissapears after this, and a huge tremor happens in the real world where Netto and the others discover that the virus has materialized in Akihara.

CATZILLA!!!

After commercials, Netto and the others are out on the street trying to figure out what the heck is going on.

There are two things wrong with this. One, Netto already checked earlier that Rush isn’t a hologram, and two, if Rush isn’t affected by the Neko virus because he is a dog, then why are other animal type viruses and Navis affected by it? Sounds like the Neko virus is racist against dogs.

As they keep staring at Nekozilla, Tohru discovers that Iceman has fully become a cat.

At least Icecat hasn’t lost his freezing powers- nya :3

Netto fears that Rockman will have the same fate and runs to capture the Neko virus by himself.

Sea lion? I wouldn’t be mad, I would be confused.

The Neko virus gives chase to Netto.

At least one of his parents worries about him.

Netto lures the Neko virus into a street between two large buildings and this happens.

.....

The giant Neko virus struggling causes debris to fall on Netto, but Rush saves him in the last second. But before a second block of concrete from the building falls on them, Yuichiro figured out why the Neko virus grew so big and creates a lightning bolt with his computer to hit Rush. For real.

“By the power of science! I summon a thunder storm!”

This is where the episode passes from cute and funny to ridiculous.

Acording to Yuhichiro the lightning bolt at the begining of the episode was what caused the Neko Virus to become a giant in the real world. Now, with his super scientific power and a really awesome computer, he creates a lightning bolt to make Rush become a giant as well, saving Netto from the falling debris.

Rush becomes a giant and fights the Neko virus, but I’m not gonna waste time taking sceen shots because the “battle” was also a waste of time, it’s like watching Snoopy trying to be epic and failing.

Anyway, the Neko virus starts beating the crap out of Rush until he summons a hole underneath it.

Long live the king-nya :3

The hole sends the Neko virus back to cyberworld where Rockman and the others can finally catch him.

Unfortunately they’ve gone too deep into the transformation to remember what they were suppoused to do.

After Gutsman and Glyde’s bodies change, which disproves what Dr. Hikari said about the transformation depending on the size of the Navi, the Neko virus starts to walk away.

Netto checks his chips to see what he can do to prevent the Neko virus from escaping again and has an idea.

Netto uses the Ratton virus chip to make Rockman and the others happily chase it around. Also note that Gutsman and Glyde’s bodies aren’t different, once again the art department got lazy.

The Ratton virus dissapears near the Neko virus and Netto fools the Navis into attacking it.

Looks like Rockman snaps out of it, because inmediately after, Netto activates the Elec Brother Style and we get this Nya style change sequence. :3

Why can’t they put this amount of effort in the other scenes? I guess that’s too much to ask because the Neko virus tries to get away from the normal looking Rockman, but Elec Brother Rockman stops it by using one of Roll-nya’s candy hearts.

Rockman uses his electrical attack and defeats the Neko virus, and gets the cat girl. Nya! :3

Thats a nice detail how the electric attack looks like a cat.

And the episode ends with Rockman narrating everything that happend afterwards.

Tell me about it, Rock.

What do I think?

This was a fun episode to watch, and even if you want to pretend that this isn’t canon, it is because Rush can now travel between the cyberworld and the real world as he pleases, giving me another reason to hate this character.

As you may already know from my review of episode 24, I talked about why I dislike Rush. At first he is just a pet for Roll that appeared once in a while to help the Navis with something by using his holes, in this episode the writers decided to give him a “personality”, but all they did was make him a japanese Snoopy, and giving him the ability to travel between worlds was pushing it too far. Many fans, including myself, would love to see Rockman and Netto in the same space together, because we know that since Netto is a human and Rockman is a computer program that can only exist in the cyberworld it isn’t possible, so having seen an opportunity for this to happen and giving it to a minor character feels like the anime was trolling us. >:C

Japan seems to have a thing for cat like characters or just cat girls in their animes, so there was bound to be an episode featuring that in any way that they could posibly think of.

In case you were wondering, no, there was no scene showing Blues as a cat, even though there is no way Enzan could prevent that from happening, he is just too cool to appear in a funny episode.

Notes from my October Daye reread, #7 Chimes At Midnight. Or, "don't eat evil pie if you're planning to overthrow the government". Advanced spoilers, please read the books, etc.

Reminder right off the bat that sweet fashion disaster May used to be an eldritch horror of the night???

-the month name in her case seems to be a coincidence? (But like. How could a name like May Daye be a coincidence. Come the fuck on.)

-Goblin fruit is super yikes. Super addictive drug that inevitably leads to death?

- Tybalt and Toby domestic shit hell yeah

Tybalt: arrested for being horny on main

- Toby: let's visit the Queen, who demonstrably hates me, about the goblin fruit problem. What could possibly go wrong (spoiler: a whole lot)

-"i may be a composite of multiple dead people, but I'm not stupid" May is nonbinary, pass the fucking tea

-The Gang Overthrows the Queen

Quentin is such a good kid! Fuck!

-I just... love the characters and how they've developed over the series. Quentin is great, Tybalt is great, The Luidaeg is great... October has changed into a more open and less depressed person. It's great! I mean, everything goes to shit over the next 2 books, but we've come so far!

-Quentin getting extremely upset that The High King didn't notice the Queen didn't have a legitimate claim to the throne? Haha. Haha. *takes another shot*

-Quentin: we could just like... TELL the High King that shes not a legitimate ruler. Like we literally could just call him up and say--

Toby: he would probably kill us and how would we do that anyway

Quentin: *silently screaming*

Have I mentioned I LOVE the Luidaeg? Shes such a great character.

-the implication that tybalt's archaic speech is at least partially just to fuck with Toby is so fuckign funny god they're so cute

-Quentin not quite bowing to Arden, or at least not as formally as the others. That's foreshadowing. God damn it.

- The Undersea: is relevant

Me: wow I knew we introduced all that lore 2 books ago for a reason

- "Princesses aren't exciting. I've met Princesses." I am so glad I am not ACTUALLY drinking every time Quentin's identity is foreshadowed, because this book alone would have killed me by now.

- Toby becoming instantly addicted to goblin fruit and forgetting 2 of the most important people in her life has me at a severe oof. :(

- fucking props to seanan for making pie legitimately threatening.

- October Daye patch 7.1 notes: due to balance concerns, toby has been shifted back to more human.

Gameplay effects: hair is brown again. blood magic effects and self-healing have been reduced by 75%. Iron resistance increased 75%.

-Theres a line about how Tybalt should have known better than to believe anything could have gone right for very long and. Yikes in context. Yikes with knowing Tybalt's backstory.

- fun lore with the Luidaeg offering to turn Toby into a Selkie to save her from impending death. Being like... technically the Selkie Firstborn. And how much doing that would actually cost. It's certainly something to file away for later because I don't imagine we would introduce a concept like that and then abandon it...

-SUDDEN HEAVY SETUP FOR BOOK 8 STUFF. SUDDEN BOOK 1 BEING RELEVANT. Why did Evening, some random noble, have a fucking ancient powerful artifact just kinda... randomly in her possession? INDEED.

- toby: Why does the name Eira Rosenhwyr sound so familiar?

Mags: Oh she's a Firstborn

Toby: Right, that definitely explains it one hundred percent. Time to not think about it at all ever again.

- TOBY I'm aware you're kind of out of your mind right now but surely you can see the aesthetic similarity between EIRA ROSENHWYR and EVENING WINTERROSE. Ajdjenskkelbsbd

- I fucking googled it and Eira Rosenhwyr translates roughly to "Snow Rose Evening" lmfao

- Mags, continuing exposition: yeah she always had this Snow White thing where like she never stayed dead for long

Me, considering book 1's central conflict and how Evening was described multiple times as Snow White: 🙃

- I really appreciate the fact that whenever Walther shows up in a book he pretty much saves the day in a major way just by making like. A potion

- toby: magic is weird. Candy made from my blood that temporarily curbs the effects of addiction? Right

Walther: you're dating a cat

-I forgot we learn The Luidaeg's actual name in this one???? "Yeah I'm Antigone what up"

-OH THATS WHERE THE "ANNIE" PSEUDONYM COMES FROM. God damn it.

-God I love Danny and his godawful expletives "Oberon's scrotum". God

- I haven't mentioned it too much but there are soooooo many good tybalt and toby moments. They have such a good and loving relationship. Boy I die

-there's a bit where Toby consumes some of the Luidaeg's blood for Reasons and gets a brief Luidaeg-POV flashback.. which shows the Luidaeg protesting Amandine abusing Toby as a kid. So even though they don't really meet until book 1, it puts her first unofficial appearance in a new context. Just some all powerful ancient sea witch checkin up on her niece at Safeway, y'know

- god the first Cu Sidhe shows up in this one and he just looks like a glam rocker who's also sort of a dog. Jesus christ

- they just act like dogs too and it is so funny. Fucking zero attention span, super excited and happy at being told they did a good job.

- arden: there's no way you're amandine's kid. She would never sleep with a human. Her husband would be pissed

Toby: ??? My mom isn't married?

(Oh boy that's gonna be a fun one)

AND, AFTER SIX AND A HALF BOOKS OF SOLID FORESHADOWING:

We get the Quentin reveal. The alcohol poisoning ceases.

-There's some real good irony in like. THE Crown Prince getting apprenticed to Toby, who is a member of Faerie's biggest underclass. And they become fucking BFFs over the course of the series. That's some good shit

-God just going back there are SO many hints. I noted a lot of them on this series reread but some of my favorites are the real subtle ones. Like Quentin in book 2 being inexplicably amused when Toby orders him to do something.

- Like?? She makes the kid do chores. She's almost gotten him killed like half a dozen times. That's just some... premium good shit.

Well the book sums up that revelation pretty well lmao

- Did... did Arden just imply Toby's mom caused the 1906 San Francisco earthquake...? That is certainly something I either missed or forgot. How is that like even a thing

- The night haunts are cool as shit and I'm glad they're showing up as bigger players. And now we have setup for Toby owing them a favor. Delightful.

ME SIPPING THAT LUIDAEG LORE JUICE

- October Daye patch 7.1.8 notes: oh god we fucked up we fucked up changes reverted

-Blood magic CPR? Canon. Then again I'm pretty sure Toby was established using blood magic to resurrect someone in book 2. So. Book 2 is still relevant

God I'm such a sucker for this angsty shit. And of course this would be Tybalt's solution, considering his backstory. God. Fuck

-I like how they went from enemies to like ridiculously sweet and affectionate lovers.. but it's not 100% perfect, they still have arguments and disagreements. But it all comes down to them caring about each other. That's some good shit right there

- Dianda being a huge badass and just singlehandedly taking out six guards while iron poisoned. a good development.

- new toby power of literally stealing someone's powers by drinking their blood. We're going like full vampire here huh

- and The Queen... who we establish actually traded her name away... manages to escape. Wonder when she shows up again 🤔🤔🤔

- ok god the fucking short story epilogue is SO GOOD. Luidaeg POV!!! Luidaeg lore is always good but this is one of the only parts we have seen Amandine. It reveals that The Luidaeg literally has just been October's guardian angel for years, which explains why some all powerful sea witch just stumbles into Toby's life???. Amandine is a fucking brat. It foreshadows fucking... SOMETHING with the goddamn month names. And it sets up Eira. God next book is going to be so good.

- There are interesting parallels between Toby and her mom. Amandine was trying to turn Toby into a human for fucking years?? As some kind of shitty experiment? Almost succeeded until The Luidaeg intervened. There's all these lines about how Amandine had stolen centuries of Toby's life, how Toby would be defenseless and Faerie would still know who she was even if Amandine succeeded. What does this say about Gillian? Toby turned her completely human in book 4 to save her life. There's no way that's not going to come back in a big way.

-What. Is with. The month names. Seriously we have not had any new ones since 3 but that's still like 5 characters. I know there are several more coming in the next few books and I still don't know why the fuck lol

-This book was mostly the final setup for next book, which is an absolute fucking bombshell. Probably the best book in the series and that is saying something. I'm excited to reread it. But on it's own this one is a good read too... love that we finally got the Quentin reveal!! The horrific Queen is gone for now! Stuff!

What made you notice them?

b.m - his height first of all, the dude is a skyscraper. also his deeeeeeep voice got me!

somin - her elegance in performance and in the mvs. she just look so put together.

jiwoo - her voice! there’s something about her singing voice that is really pleasing to my ear. tbh i thought she was kinda scary at first, but she is also such a sweetheart.

j.seph - i thought he was really pretty when i fist saw him. then, when i first heard him rap, I really liked his flow.

What is your favorite thing about them?

b.m - his heart. he is one of the softest people, and he has so much love. i love that he is so happy to share that love with his members, his friends, and with us. he really is such a beautiful soul.

somin - her laughter. it’s so bright and bubbly just like her. it’s that kind of laughter thats infectious. when she laughs its like the room lights up even more.

jiwoo - her ability to maintain chill at basically all times haha. she is just the coolest kid on the block, and her responses to things are always the best.

j.seph - his sense of humor is my absolute favorite!! he is funny, silly, and he’s not afraid to show that side of himself.

Who would initiate skinship more?

b.m - he would? he’s very affectionate with people he’s friends with, so even if its just his arm around the shoulder or a touch every so often, he would be the one initiating that.

somin - again, i think she would probably be the one to initiate it. it would probably be mostly arm linking though.

jiwoo - we would be even. jiwoo isn’t too into skinship from what i’ve noticed, and neither am i.

j.seph - he would. hands down. he seems to be the most keen on initiating some soft of physical contact with people. so yeah it would be him.

Who would hog the blankets more?

b.m - he seems like he would take the blanket, but then, he would wake up in the night and cover me up because he saw that he took it all, but idk his sleep habits so idk haha

somin - i think she would have them. not that i mind tbh, but to me she seems friolenta, so i would let her have the blankets.

jiwoo - i think we’d be even on this one too?

j.seph - i can see this kid rolling himself into a burrito with the blankets, so im gonna have to say he would take them all.

Who would be more clingy?

b.m - him. he’s got that vibe.

somin - i think maybe me? it’s probably me.

jiwoo - definitely me. she doesn’t come off as clingy in any sense of the word.

j.seph - him. like b.m, he just gives off that vibe. and i don’t mean in the overly obsessive clingy way. both of the boys would just check in with you, make sure you’re doing alright more frequently than the girls. i think it’s because theyre older and they really just wanna look out for and protect the people they care about. the girls would be much more chill.

Who would be more easily flustered?

What cuddling position would you two have?

b.m - I. WANNA. BE. THE. LITTLE. SPOON. can you imagine being enveloped by by matthew??? that would be the best thing in the world?? because he always looks so warm and cozy!!! i would feel so safe like that...wow im gonna go cry now haha

somin - her head would be on my lap as i run my fingers through her hair. is that a cuddling position? probably not. but i’m gonna make it one. why? because i can, and because this would be the way we would spend lazy sundays.

jiwoo - again, not really cuddling, PERO we’d lay down with our backs touching. there’s not a lot of physical contact, but just enough to know that the other person is there. it’s comforting and comfortable.

j.seph - id love to just relax and lay my head on his chest. listen to his heartbeat. one of his arms wrapped around me too. it would be so nice. seriously folks just thinking about this is... a lot.

What colors remind you of them and why?

b.m - red. he’s so full of passion and drive for all the things that he does. he’s also got this type of personality that has such a powerful impact. also he looks super good in red.

somin - pink. there’s always such a softness to somin. i know that she’s fierce and powerful, but she is always such a soft soul. she has a lightness to her that the color pink reflects.

jiwoo - indigo. a cool tone for a cool person. the color fits the mysterious, chic vibe that she has, but it’s also a calm color. much like jiwoo, the color indigo is a soothing color.

j.seph - yellow. j.seph is such a bright person. he can be serious, but he always a bright aura around him. he takes things with stride, and just continues to smile. the color yellow suits that joyful and playful personality of his!

Which season would you like to spend with them?

i’d want to spend winter with all of them because it’s my favorite season, but I feel like B.M is more a summer dude, Somin is more like spring as is J.seph, and Jiwoo is an autumn/winter gal to me. but i wanna spend winter with them!

Who would bake the cookies and who would steal the batter?

b.m- we would probably both bake the cookies, but he would steal the batter. i don’t like eating the batter like that tbh baking would probably be so fun with b.m though because he follows the instructions, but would probably toss in some interesting ingredients.

somin - we’d probably both end up making each other cookies. we make them at the same time, but individually, so we’d probably be so focused in making them that the batter would remain intact!

jiwoo - mmmm i would bake the cookies while she sat at the counter and watched? she’d probably dip her finger in the batter to try it a couple of times, and give her opinion on the taste though!

j.seph - no cookies would be made. he wouldn’t be tasting the batter, but playing with it? like smearing it on my cheek or nose, and then i would have to retaliate, and then minutes later there would be no batter left haha

Which one would make bad puns and how would the other react?

b.m- he would make all the puns (good and bad), i’d just laugh because he never really has any truly bad puns

somin- i’d definitely make all the bad puns. i think she would just do what she does with the boys and cringe and smack my arm lol

jiwoo- it would still be me making all the bad jokes. jiwoo would probably just stare at me or walk away (but would crack a smile... she loves bad puns i know it)

j.seph- he is the king of all jokes and silliness, so it would definitely be this boy cracking all the puns. i wouldn’t be able to help myself, and i can 100% guarantee that i’d be crying of laughter.

Who would want to adopt 50 dogs and cats?

Which one of you would nearly burn down the kitchen to try to microwave a poptart and who would come to the rescue?

...i don’t microwave pop tarts so, if any of them do, it would be them lol. i’d come and help them out though!!

Who likes to lean over tall railings and who pulls them back?

(I have a fear of heights so...I am not leaning over any tall railings anytime soon.)

b.m- you know as free spirited and wild as he seems, matthew is very careful so perhaps neither of us would lean over the railings. if he did though, i’d grip onto his shirt so tight to pull him back.

somin- for sure neither of us would be leaning over any railings. we’d be so far from the edge appreciating having only solid ground beneath us.

jiwoo- jiwoo would probably get kicks out of looking over the railing. she’d probably tease me by leaning over it a couple of times, and just looking back to see my reaction (she’s a bit of a daredevil lol) so it would be me taking her away from the railing.

j.seph- he would lean over the railing out of sheer curiosity, but he would lean too far, so i would definitely be pulling this kid back.

What would watching a horror film with them be like?

b.m- he’d probably be calm for the majority of it, but he seems like the kind of person whose body would jolt when they get scared, but he wouldn’t scream. he would try to laugh off the scary moments, and crack jokes to make it all seem less terrifying. he’d also cover your eyes and keep you tucked in his arms to make you feel less scared too.

somin- screaming our head off together. possibly in tears. why did we start watching this horror film? who knows! but now we’re too scared to move, and the remote seems to be nowhere in reach sooo... we are stuck. probably clinging to each other for dear life. someone would have to come turn off the tv for us, but then we’d probably scream if we saw them just because we’re already terrified.

jiwoo- depending on the film, she’d probably be laughing at some parts, but she’d definitely get scared as well. she’d probably grip your arm real tight when she got scared, but i think she would try to brave through the film. she’d focus more on the logical things in the film. if it has a storyline, she’ll focus on the details of the story to distract her mind from what might be coming up.

j.seph- so he apparently doesn’t get scared easily, so he would probably be chill throughout the film. he’d probably tease you about the scary parts, but not in a mean way. it would be more in a ways that downplays the horror, so you feel better. although, if there’s a really scary part, he’d probably give a little jump, and ,if you called him out on it, he’d try to play it off or just bluntly be like ‘oh that was surprising.’ (im thinking of that tour avatar video haha)

Who would be the chessy flirt and who would be the smooth flirt?

b.m- HE WOULD BE THE CHEESIEST BOY ON THE PLANET. HE ALREADY IS. I think he would like to think that he’s a smooth flirt, but he’s so cheesy. He’d be so gushy and what not, but it’s so fitting of who he is because he’s so full of love and energy. he has to shower the person he likes with that love. he has to. it definitely works for him. though, i think he’d also be the person to say very deep and serious things and end up flustering the person.

somin- the shy flirt (im adding my own categories here) she exudes confidence on stage, but just seeing her gush about hyuna I can already see that shes a shy and giggly flirt. she showers the person she likes with compliments and positivity, and she’s so soft around them. also if she really likes them she’s gonna be super giggly around them and a blush will always be on her face.

jiwoo- she’d be smooth, but with a little hint of awkwardness? she’d probably give an awkward first liner, but then she’d save herself by saying something incredibly smooth. from that moment, she be the smooth talking queen. she’s really witty, so you’re most certainly gonna be charmed by her sweet talking skills.

j.seph- he’d be like an awkward/shy flirt. he’d really try to impress, but it wouldn’t come out the way he wanted it to. there’s the good chance that he would just start giggling instead of actually saying anything. he’d probably try to crack jokes as well ( this would be his strongest point when it comes to flirting haha), but everything would work for him because, even if he thinks everything came out in an embarrassing way, its actually super endearing.

Who is more competitive?

they’re all competitive, and im competitive. so all of us. i think b.m would probably be the only one to “lose.” the others would really want to win (especially j,seph)

Who would have to be given reminders (remember to eat, don’t forget your keys, etc)

they’re all so busy with tours and stuff that i think i would have to remind them to eat, and to take their wallets/phones/etc. but on days when they’re not as busy:

b.m- if he’s working on producing something I would probably have to remind him to eat, and to sleep ( get off ig too). he seems like he falls into his own world when he’s focused on something, so we need to keep him healthy

somin- i think she would be pretty good keeping herself on track in terms of meals, but she would definitely need reminders on what to take during a trip or when going out for the day.

jiwoo- idk why i feel like she’s just on top of everything. i think it’s because has a very independent vibe to her, but i think she would be reminding me about things, if she isn’t busy.

j.seph- he’d probably need reminding about where certain things are, idk why i get the vibe that he misplaces things, but in the most obvious places. also just regular reminders about what’s happening (my poor bub seems lost sometimes)

Who sends memes and who sends cute things like “i miss you” texts at 3 am?

b.m- we’re both sending memes, but he would definitely send cute messages. or post cute messages through ig or something like he does for the members. he’s a good morning/ good night text person. also he’d send a lot of photos of him making cute/silly faces i think. also gym photos showing you his progress, and what his next goal is.

somin- i’d send her some memes, but the cute messages are all her! they’d be full of emojis ( hearts, bows, animals, everything) she’d also probably send photos of things that she’s seen that remind her of you. also get ready for photos of se ah!

jiwoo- both of us would be sending each other memes. she’s got a funky sense of humor! she would also send videos/photos of the other members messing around with some a+ caption. also aside from memes, she’d send pictures of tani.

j.seph- he’d send you some cheesy messages. probably wouldn’t send memes, but he would tell you jokes he came up with or he’s heard that he hasn’t told you yet. i’d probably send him memes only to see his reactions because i bet you they would be funny! i think if he were drunk or tipsy he’d send some long loving message at three am (it would be him rambling about how much he loves you and misses you and what not, but it would be cute).
