The criticism that I've seen that Gwiles/Ghostflower receives that they "are only so connected bc they're both spiders" is silly cuz idk how to break it to ya but that's the whole point.

The point of the first movie and the reason why Spider Gang got so attached to each other so quickly is cuz they thought they were going through all of their struggles alone until they've met. They repeat this several times in the movie.

Because what they're doing is hard and they feel like no one understands them, not really, because no one in their universes has the same powers and backstories, until they found out that there are others who went through basically the same things they were going through. And it is what brought the whole team closer, and Miles and Gwen as love interests. It's not that they're only attracted to each other because of that - Miles and Gwen even started getting along before they knew about each other's powers - but that was exactly what made them (I'm talking about the whole team now as well as M and G as a potential couple) so considerate of each other from the start.

That's the plot (or one of many plots) of the movie.

Okay, so I haven't watched all of FMAB yet, but I love how Ed is so fucking oblivious. He got a gorgeous girl, way smarter than him and out of everybody's league, who plays with the cord of the telephone when they speak together because she's down bad and laughs softly when he talks. And he's like "yeah, yeah, well, I am glad you're alive haha I thought they were going to brutally fucking murder you today. So that's a relief. okay well the first part isn’t silly! so the episode is based around a con they are doing where a polyam triad wants to get married and have been writing to senators and stuff for years but nothing has happened. maybe there is a time element that leeway has to happen soon (not sure what that would be yet, maybe someone is sick???)

(obviously polycules aren’t only and are often more than just a closed three-person system, but I’m saying triad right now bc I feel like that would be an easier and more ‘socially acceptable’ gateway into more accepting legislation for diverse relationship dynamics)

the leverage crew, of course, can’t outright change the public perception of poly marriage, but they can use the ‘enemy’s’ tactics against them and slip stuff into legislation without people noticing like they do. it’s slimy and it’s not a permanent fix, but it’s a start, and it gives people the opportunity to see poly marriage in action and that it isn’t as terrifying or pearl-clutching-inducing as they think it would be. there’s a long way to go, but the seeds of change have been sown and they will make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible

this is one of the cases that they will monitor on the back burner over time. some cons can finish within a few hours (the bottle job), and some things they will follow over time and make adjustments when needed- amplify voices and expose corrupt politicians etc

it's mentioned one-off in the fic, but tango knows the only werewolves in the city live ACROSS THE CITY from him meaning that jimmy was literally trekking across the entire damn city to go see tango and walk him home from work ;-; they're both so dumb hsjhsjkdk

Joe is one of Tango's co-workers at the cafe where he works. no-one knows what's up with him, but when he starts telling a story you have to sit and listen to him finish it. you can't leave until he's stopped talking. those that are aware of the supernatural know that he's not some kind of siren, but they still don't know what he is. they've got a discussion going on in the "supernatural circles" they've got going on. Joe finds this endlessly hilarious.

There's several other vampires in the city, all of which try to keep out of each other's way. Tango and Mumbo are two of these vampires (the others are undecided/background characters). HOWEVER! they do meet up once a month at Tango's place of work (mainly because he's always working a shift when they want to meet) to discuss what areas to avoid because someone's gone and bitten a few too many people there recently and the locals are setting up Facebook pages to try and figure out what's happening

Scott and Lizzie are both sirens. Scott is a swim teacher, and parents bring children that have difficulty with fear of water/swimming to where he works because he just seems "magical" with how he's teaching their kids to swim (he's enchanting them. he's enchanting them into enjoying swimming)

Grian, Joel and Jimmy are the only pack of wolves in their city, and they all call each other "brothers" despite not actually being related because they all got turned around the same time and were friends in school together. (they all got bitten together because they were all being IDIOTS together)

Pearl lives in the next city over and is also a werewolf, but is more of a lone wolf than the others. She lives with her dog Tilly, and that's her "pack"

There's an actual werewolf pack in this other city, which is home to Ren, Martyn and Bdubs. Etho is also technically part of this group, but he's also a "were-fox" (idk even know if those exist it just seems fun to me) and goes between the two cities because he has friends in both

Okay I do wanna say that I’m a firm Rarepair shipper that the reason “pair the spares” bothers me is usually it’s reduced the character to no personality OR it’s literally to get the characters “out of the way” for something. When people actually focus on the characters, it becomes an otp, and/or they bring something to the characters I’ll enjoy just about any of the pairings

And that's in both ships the characters canonically hate each other and one killed/- #injured the other. #And in no way in the canon (key word CANON) universe would they get along under any circumstances. #But then why is one more accepted over the other?? #And then I realised it has to do mostly with this weird mob mentality the fandom has coupled with the way both these ships are interpreted. #Based on my own experiences it seemed Batmeat was mostly enjoyed by the genuinely gross people in the fandom. #And by this I mean people that had gross intentions with the ship and wanted to interpret it in an abusive way. #Meanwhile Holydemon was created as a silly joke between the Spooky Month team that evolved from joke to people genuinely enjoying it. #To my knowledge Holydemon was never created out of ill intent but rather to be a silly joke + demon x priest old man yaoi funny. #But Batmeat was mostly used by pro/comshippers to fetishize/romanticise abuse. #(Please keep in mind I have seen a bunch of examples on Twt as the ship doesn't seem to be as big here on Tumblr and isn't much of a- #point of discussion). #(But I found that a lot of the known gross ppl in the fandom seemed to enjoy Batmeat which I can only assume left a bad taste in- #people's mouths. Sorry that this legit took so long to get to but this one and another actually stumped me a bit! But lets go ahead and talk some Honeycrisp!

It's funny but as I'm starting to go through ships, I actually find that Sollux is surprisingly moldable to ship with in most quadrants with any character with just a few characters that I think it's pretty obvi he'd be one way or another with them. Dave is one that I can actually see these two being an all-around deal. I think it's actually extremely easy to see either of them together in a red, pale, or pitch manner. Personal opinion though, I think I could see them shift from pitch to pale. However, I do understand the idea of them in red! Trying to go down a little bit of the more romantic route, Dave can somehow get Sollux to be pretty talkative when working if he says the right things. Both of them are pretty tall so there is a pretty frequent amount of them coming up behind the other and attempting to use them like an armrest just for the hell of it. Sollux's constant amount of electronic-like noises from his powers is actually fuel and used snippets in some of Dave's music. I see them being somewhat private about affections towards one another mostly because they don't feel like its anybodys business to glimpse into those parts from the outside of their lives. They're really casual about it though.
