The GBHBL Definitive Ranking of the Insidious Franchise
We’ve watched them all. We’ve reviewed them all, so it’s time for our definitive ranking of the Insidious franchise.
Created by Leigh Whannell and James Wan, Insidious is a horror franchise that started in 2010, with the latest coming out in 2023. It features five films and has proven to be insanely successful, telling stories about another dimension called the Further and the beings that exist within. What I Watched in June 2022
This was the scariest of the series I think.
this was...I dunno, it felt confused. What did the keys open? And the thing with the guys being serial killers... it just kinda, too much yet not enough?
I still struggle to like this movie. Way, way to much Bakugou and he has no right to One for All.
Cute
More songs to be stuck in my head forever.
Because I wasn’t in enough fandoms. XD
very cute, and I enjoyed it but it makes almost no sense and has no resolution. ^_^’
It just kept missing for me, oh well
Gonna have some words with Illumi. Does Hisoka exist to be mysterious, annoying, and intriguing? Also, not even going to bother having words with Silva, Zeno, mother zoldyck, and milluki...ugh, Killua needs a better family, Leorio needs to get adopting. Also my sweet stubborn Gon...why?

Utmost Merit, Part IV
Character: Henry Cavill as Sherlock in Enola Holmes
Summary: Sherlock presents the Reader with a most unconventional proposal.
Content: Absolutely 18+ for very very very filthy language, smut with minimal plot, purposely unprotected sex, breeding kink, spouses-to-lovers, discussions of pregnancy, and some period-typical gender roles, but nothing unkind or insidious.
Notes: It’s finally here. Thank you, thank you, thank you for your patience. I love this story and I promise there are a few more chapters in store! And now, the usual formalities: I prefer giving a name to the Reader rather than using Y/N, but I hope you will make the appropriate substitutes in your imagination. Your kind comments and reblogs are so, so appreciated…please don’t hesitate to reply or send me a message with your feedback if you enjoy!
Previous Chapters: Part I Part II Part III
Your wedding is exquisite.
Sherlock seems almost giddy throughout the entirety of the proceedings, the frosty exterior melted away to reveal the secret romantic beneath. He makes his vows with solemnity in his tone and a smile in his eyes, and you do the same, and confine yourself to a chaste kiss when all you want is to be instantly at home, alone, abed, with your gorgeous, virile husband buried deep inside you. You hope that your flaming cheeks are presumed to be the result of modesty, rather than insatiable lust for the Great Detective, who looks especially, ravishingly handsome in his wedding attire—especially when he raises your hand to his lips for another innocent show of public affection, but meets your eyes across the sparkling diamond on your finger, blue orbs glittering with a sinful promise of the night to come.
It does not help your wild desires to watch your guests with their children, from the gaggle of racing teenagers who pilfer sweets and play at acting grown-up to the littlest guests fussing in their miniature finery. Particularly enrapturing is your cousin’s newborn: a plump, cheery little creature who summarily steals all attention, including yours. Sherlock traces your gaze to the source of your longing looks, makes his excuses to his brother and sister, and returns to your side to draw you close, pressing a light kiss to your temple.
“Don’t fret, Mrs. Holmes,” he murmurs softly, carefully keeping his expression pleasant, neutral, though his tone could not be more lascivious. “You’ll have one of your own soon enough. Have we managed it already, do you think? You do glow like a proper angel today.”
“I hope so,” you whisper back, smiling at your shared secret and trying to contain a shiver as his fingertips trace circles on the curve of your waist.
“Of course it will be weeks before we know for certain,” he muses, all the while nodding pleasantly at the friends and relations who raise their glasses or smile in your direction. “So don’t think I’ll be the slightest bit satisfied to wait and see. Perish the thought; you’ll be on your back and on your knees and on my lap every chance I get this fortnight. You’ll feel me every step you take, if I let you out of bed at all—”
“You absolutely must stop!” you exclaim, flushing scarlet at his wicked whispers, but you both know that you can hardly wait for him to start making good on each and every promise. He lifts your chin to look into your eyes, as much tenderness as lust glowing in in the deep, heart-stopping blue of his gaze.
“You absolutely must understand: I never thought to know happiness like this. You give me such a gift, Rosamund.”
“I will try,” you avow, a little hesitancy in your voice, for the first time truly considering that nothing in life is guaranteed.
Sherlock of course can practically read your thoughts, and he holds you even tighter, and says quietly, almost shyly, “Even…even if fate determines that we shall have no children, your companionship is itself a bounty of which I can only endeavor to be worthy.”
Then he kisses you fully on the lips, eliciting laughter and cheers from your gathered friends, and soon enough you are in your carriage—passionately kissing every available inch of one another, with Sherlock’s hand working dexterously under your skirts, from the moment the door closes until the driver announces your arrival at your new, shared home. You make yourselves barely presentable in time to greet your servants with gifts and coins and an all-to-earnest plea that they all take the rest of the night off…and then you are alone again.
“Where were we, Mrs. Holmes?” he asks, with feigned innocence and a boyish grin that prove just as seductive as his usual growls and smirks. You leap upon him at once, and he laughs, snatching you up and tossing you onto the bed you will henceforth share, laid out with fresh, sweetly-scented blankets. Urgency fades into comfort and calmness as he strips layer upon layer of wedding finery from your body, stopping to savor the scent of your perfume in the hollow of your throat and worshiping at your waist, pressing his lips along your abdomen with an adoring whisper.
“What a beautiful mother you’ll make,” he muses, addressing the hypothetical promise that well could already be blossoming within you. “I think we must have a girl first, don’t you, darling? An Ivy or Lily to complement my lovely Rose…”
A sentiment more romantic has never been heard, in your opinion, and you tug at his curls to draw him back up for a long, lingering kiss. He presses the whole of his body over yours, hard planes of muscle aligned with your soft figure…and you are most especially gratified at to feel how deliciously his long, thick cock inerrantly slides against where you are softest, rubbing up against your sensitive bud and the slick heat of your petals.
“Do you feel what you do to me?” Sherlock asks, pressing you deeper into the bed and rocking his hips, drawing a soft cry of pleasure from your lips. “I must walk through the world like this, betrayed by my own body at the slightest thought of you—giving yourself to me, surrendering this sweet, perfect cunt all for my pleasure, to bear my child.”
His filthy poetry has you on the bring of orgasm already, and you can hardly wait another moment to feel him fill you. He eagerly acquiesces to the gentle insistence of your hands against his chest, flipping him to lay upon his back, and you settle atop him, straddling his thighs and dragging your slit against his cock so he can feel what he does to you in return.
“Such a—fuck, that’s it—you are such a beautiful woman,” he murmurs, burying his face in your neck, his breathing set ragged as you sink down onto his length. You gasp at the stretch, too, and for a moment, you hold one another as close as you can, your foreheads pressed together and Sherlock’s fingertips gently stroking hips and thighs as you clench around him. “Now, this position may be somewhat antithetical to our designs—” You almost laugh at his attempt to regain his composure, to lecture on The Shared Purpose, and in answer, you raise yourself up and sink down on his cock again, and again, faster and faster, delighted at how flustered and frantic he becomes. “—but how I love to…to watch my wife—my pretty, pretty little wife—take her pleasure like this—“
“Your wife, Sherlock?” you tease, increasing your pace and smirking as this massive, powerful man shudders beneath you, as helpless to the pleasure of your union as you are. “I thought you didn’t want a wife…particularly.”
It’s a direct quote from his proposal and he knows it; and you can see the very instant his brilliant brain goes feral at your mischief.
“I don’t want a wife,” he growls, clutching at your hips and slamming you down harder, faster, closer, taking back control with animalistic ardor. “I want my wife. Now come for me, Mrs. Holmes, show me what a good wife you are—show me, show me—“
You absolutely shatter, calling out his name, and he takes advantage of your blissful helplessness to regain the upper hand, deftly, easily laying you out on your back and pull your legs about his waist so he can rut into you with abandon.
“Take it,” he encourages. “All you have to do is take it, let me fuck a baby into you, sweet girl—oh, I know, darling, how much you want this, too.”
He holds you so beautifully close as he comes, kissing you gently even as he moans your name. For a long moment you remain entwined, heartbeats slowing in tandem. But he does not allow you a long respite, carefully withdrawing his length from your tender little channel, only to replace it at once with his fingers.
“This is a rule of our household,” he explains, gently tracing your lip with the pad of his thumb as his other hand coaxes another climax out of you. “You will always give me one more, my lovely bride, when I’m finished with you. To direct the seed to your womb, of course…and because it satisfies me to see you made drunk on the pleasure I give you—yes, precisely like that, Mrs. Holmes.”
“One more” turns out to be an understatement.
Seemingly hours later, a new first intimacy is shared: a spent but infinitely smug Sherlock falls asleep in your arms, his head pillowed on your breasts. He is magnificently warm, and has never looked more peaceful or content than he does now, his eyes fluttering in sleep while you stroke his tousled curls, a little smile gracing his lips and one possessive hand placed protectively over your womb, as if this little extra intimacy might coax into being the baby of your shared dreams.
But you are not so content.
For on this wedding day, you have come to a realization, and on this wedding night, your understanding is only made more palpable. This marriage of shared purpose, this convenient, well-planned union, founded on practicality rather than sentiment…is a lie.
“I love you, Sherlock,” you whisper in the dark, as he dreams on, unknowing…

CHAPTER 5: THE FLEA AND THE ACROBAT
This is an Original Character fanfiction. All Stranger Things characters and content are owned by Netflix and The Duffer Brothers.
a/n: Chapter 4 is such a filler episode and I didn't like how I wrote it after I posted, but in rereading it after Chapter 3, it really does flow together and I can tweak loose ends in this present chapter! (See? Glass half full). Enjoy another mother-daughter moment between Diana and Sue!
Warnings: None.

PART I || PART II
Friday, November 11, 1983 - SINCLAIR RESIDENCE
The house is quiet this morning as everyone gets dressed for Will’s funeral. I stand in front of my full-length mirror staring at my reflection. After finding evidence of the thing that took Barb, neither Jonathan, Nancy and I had any idea on what to do with the information. How are we going to find it? Are we going to find it? As a group we decided not to tell the police because they already believe Nancy, Ms. Byers and I are crazy for suggesting that Barb and Will were taken by an animal with no face. This is something we would have to handle ourselves. If my parents found out about anything, they would probably move us out of town, far away from this insidious madness. Part of me wouldn’t blame them but, if there was even an inkling of hope in finding and bringing back Will and Barb, I was going to take that chance. The glimmer of hope in finding them burned deep in my gut. Lucas and I deserve to have our best friends back.
I run my fingers through my hair. I couldn’t sleep and woke up early to take a hot comb to it in the kitchen. It took two hours and my arms burned from the arduous task, but the ease in repetition calmed the spiralling thoughts in my head. I even trimmed my ends a little. With my natural curls, my hair was at my waist, but after straightening it and trimming the ends, it fell past my bottom. Way too long for my liking and heavy. My neck aches. I lean forward making sure the lack of sleep didn’t show on my face. I can’t attend the funeral looking like I am half dead myself. I clear my throat smoothening out any wrinkles in my modest black dress. It seems like everyday something new happens in Hawkins and none of it has been good. Today my little brother was burying his best friend. Despite the glimmer of hope inside me, it is going to be a tough day to get through.
“Diana, are you ready?” I hear mom from the other side of my door.
“Come in,” I say.
Mom enters my room. She’s wearing a simple black dress, her freshly styled hair combed neatly in a bob cut. She looks very pretty. Mom smiles softly eying me from head to toe. I shift side to side on my feet, wiggling my toes against my nylons.
“You look pretty.” Mom says, walking to me. She stands behind me, combing her fingers through my hair through the mirror. “I knew I smelled hair product in the kitchen this morning.”
Heat creeps up the back of my neck. “I couldn’t sleep.” I admit.
Mom sighs, parting pieces of my hair to lay over my shoulder. She gently places her hands on my arms swiping away any lint on the long sleeves of my dress before squeezing them. Her eyes soften as she looks at me through the mirror. The voice in my head screams for me to tell Mom about the photo, but I ignore it leaning into her touch.
“I know the past couple of days have been hard on you and I’m so sorry, sweetheart.”
“It’s okay,” I shrug, flaring my nostrils to satiate the burn in them. I don’t want to cry, not now.
Mom looks at me, shaking her head. “No, it’s not.”
Tears immediately swim in my eyes and quickly wipe them away with my fingers before they fall down my cheeks. It’s too early to cry. I clear my throat, sniffing and fix my dress again. “Can you help me pick a shoe? Should I wear flats or heels?”
Mom stares at me for a moment and I know she wants to talk about everything, but decided against it, thankfully. I’m not sure I have the words to express how I’m feeling at the moment or have been the past couple of days.
“Heels.” she responds.
“Okay.”
“Okay, put on your heels and I’ll be right back.”
I nod my head and go to my closet rummaging around until I found my only pair of black kitten heels. I’ve only worn them for special occasions like Dad’s company dinners. Never for a funeral. I slide my feet into the shoes and walk out my closet just in time for Mom to walk back into my room. She’s holding a little black tube between her manicured fingers. A tube of lipstick. I blink in awe, feeling a jolt of surprise. Mom and Dad had a strict rule about not being able to wear makeup until I was 16. It was the one rule, I hated and begrudgingly followed. Yet here Mom was holding a tube of lipstick for me. I only ever worn lipstick for performances. Mom smiles at my reaction.
“I think this will complete your look today.”
I take the lipstick out of her hand, cherishing it like a delicate flower. I open the tube and stare at the wine-coloured lipstick. This was different than the colour I used for performances, darker and more elegant. I walk to my mirror and neatly apply the lipstick on my lips, opening my mouth to get the sides. I rub my lips together melting the wax between them and clean the edges of my mouth with my finger. I take a step back to look at my work. I already look more mature and womanlier, like Mom. Short stature and flat chest be damned. I smile, genuine and true. I smile so much my eyes disappear into my cheeks. Mom chuckles softly behind me and I can’t help but giggle at my reaction.
“Thank you, Mommy.” I gush, turning to give the lipstick back to her. Mom shakes her head, closing my fingers. Her gold wedding band twinkles.
“Keep it.”
My eyes widen. “Really?”
“Of course, sweetheart. You’re almost 16.”
I squeal happily thrusting my body onto hers and hug her tight around her neck. Mom laughs, her rumbles vibrating against my stomach.

Disney Plus’ Willow isn’t canceled, just paused for at least a year, says producer
Jon Kasdan says reports of the show’s death are greatly exaggerated
“The truth is less splashy [than cancellation],” he writes, “but here it is: A decision was made last week to release our main cast for other series opportunities that may arise for them in the coming year. With all the tv and movies in production around the world, it feels unfair to limit an actor’s availability without a clear sense of when you’re going to need them again.”
According to Kasdan, season 2 of Willow is, if not completely written, significantly planned out, and some characters with small roles in the first season, like Annabelle Davis’ Mims, will have much larger ones in the new. But since their initial contracts didn’t include so much season 2 work, they’re now busy with other projects.
“Due to forces much larger and more intricate than I would ever pretend to fully understand,” Kasdan says, “production of streaming shows is slowing down across the entire industry, and Willow won’t resume filming in the next 12 months. But here’s what’s equally true: with the enthusiastic and unwavering support of Lucasfilm and Disney, we’ve developed and written what we hope is a brain-meltingly fun, richer, darker and better VOLUME II, which builds on the characters and story of our first eight chapters (The Wyrm survives!).”
The Wyrm is the shadowy evil force worshipped by the Crone, the ultimate antagonist of Willow’s first season. Though the Wyrm didn’t make any direct appearance in Willow’s first season, Kasdan clearly had a solid idea of it in November of last year.
“[The Crone is] the emissary of something much greater and darker and more powerful [...] I loved the idea that to whomever [the Wyrm] is, we are ants barely playing on the cement, and he needs to only reach out and crush us,” Kasdan told Polygon during the Willow press tour.
“[The Crone is] the spokesperson of that voice and ends up being really representative to me of, weirdly enough, more of a worldview and of a philosophical view, than she is an out and out villain,” Kasdan added. “There’s nihilism at the core of the Crone that I really wanted to explore. And I think that even after her story ends, the influence of that philosophical point of view is going to leave a permanent impact on our characters.”
In the Twitter thread, Kasdan went on to talk about the themes of season 2 — including courage, desire, acceptance, comedy and beauty in the darkest places, “the enemies we must inevitably confront, both without and, often far more insidiously, from within. But, above all, it’s about the ineffable and enduring magic of friendship.”
So, is Willow canceled? No, according to its executive producer. But do we know if it’ll continue? That’s hazier.
“I have total confidence that, if an appetite for more Willow persists, Disney, Lucasfilm and this amazing cast will satisfy it,” Kasdan wrote in his thread.

Chapters 21 & 22 - Song and Dance - I & II
Chapter Summaries:
Part I - Church gets a rude awakening, but feels reassured by the presence of an ally. He fulfills his promise to Karlach, and spends the evening enjoying the tiefling party to the fullest. However, his night takes an unexpected, but not necessarily unwelcome turn when Astarion invites him to steal away for a celebration of their own.
Part II - After an exhausting tryst, Astarion finds a complication in his plan. Church receives another unexpected visit.
---
Pairing(s): Astarion x Male Tav (Main); Past OC x Male Tav Rating: Explicit
Excerpt below:
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Astarion asks irritably.
“Like what?” Church sits up, reaching for his clothes.
“Like I killed your mother,” Astarion says dryly. “Did I not satisfy you, darling? We can always go again. I just took your cries to mean that…”
“You… you satisfied me,” Church laughs uneasily. “More than that. That was fucking fantastic.”
He preoccupies himself with donning his trousers. Damn it. He can’t hide his expressions to save his life around the elf.
“But I’m just wondering… did I…” Church glances warily at Astarion. “Did… I satisfy you?”
Astarion lets out a loud, musical laugh, wrapping his arm around Church’s naked waist and tugging him close for another perfunctory kiss.
“You were absolutely ravishing,” he declares. “You felt divine.”
Church smiles tightly. He doesn’t buy it. He remembers the elf’s blank eyes as he looked back up at him.
He’s lying, the insidious voice hisses to Church. You’re nothing more than a pity-fuck. He can’t even get off to a face like yours.
So why does he keep coming back? Church wonders to himself. What good am I to him?
He’s still using you. There’s more that he wants.
Church is silent as Astarion warily studies his preoccupied face.
“You should go back to camp,” the spawn suggests dismissively after a moment. “I’ll be hunting.”
“If you’re hungry,” Church says suddenly. “Why don’t you…?” He tilts his head to the side a little, exposing the two puncture marks that have worn themselves there into his neck with each consecutive visit.
Astarion’s face lights up a little.
“Are you sure?” he asks.
“Yeah, of course,” Church says quickly. “I want you to feel strong and… happy.” And satisfied in some way, he adds to himself ruefully.
Astarion smiles at him. “You sweet, generous thing,” he drawls, and he scooches closer to nuzzle into Church’s neck. The tiefling stifles a shudder as the elf’s breath cascades down his neck.
“Just do it,” he says tiredly.
You’re nothing but a blood bank. A canteen. A spare camp supply.
But if he’s already being used, then what’s the harm in getting some use out of a stronger Astarion as well?
“Wait,” Church blurts, and the vampire spawn stills with a disappointed little grunt. “Can I ask a favor?”
Astarion sighs. “Fine. Ask away.”
“Can you… hold me… again?” Church flushes, mortified at his own request.

* ◟ : MALIK KAREEM ABDI , some say you’re a THIRTY SEVEN YEAR OLD lost soul among the neon lights. known for being both AUTHORITATIVE and CONTROLLING, one can’t help but think of EXPERIENCE by LUDOVICO EINAUDI when you walk by. are you still the THE EMPEROR ( LAWFUL EVIL ), HEAD OF SALES MANAGEMENT for THE SNAKE DEN, ANUNNAKI PHARMACEUTICALS, even with your reputation as THE ERECHTHEUS? i think we’ll be seeing more of you and AN ANKH IN ONE HAND & THE ORB IN ANOTHER — READY TO RULE, A CHEEKY SMILE ON YOUR FACE BEFORE A STINGY REMARK, ENDLESS BLACK SUITS IN YOUR CLOSET, although we can’t help but think of HANNIBAL LECTER ( THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS ) + GUNNERY SERGEANT HARTMAN ( FULL METAL JACKET ) + FLETCHER ( WHIPLASH ) whenever we see you down these rainy streets.
FULL NAME: Malik Kareem Abdi
AGE: 37
PRONOUNS: he/him
OCCUPATION: the emperor (lawful evil) for the snake den, head of sales management for anunnaki pharmaceuticals
BIRTHPLACE: New Orleans, Louisiana, the US
CHAPTER I. The Puerility
You ran out with scissors in your hand and carefully chopped every rose blossom in the garden – you made yourself a red nest out of it and laid there smiling as your mother, holding your sister by the hand, approached you. She was loud and you had no explanations – you’d have stayed silent if it weren’t for a few giggles escaping your lips. You later brought the flowers to your teacher with the saccharine-tasting words of “thank you for being the best”. Sweet, sweet Malik: always innocent in the presence of others, always devious for his sister and parents; all of your devotion was often turned into corruptive, insidious tricks.
No one could see your shadows except those closest to you, but these stories never left your house: a picture-perfect family, two siblings who are always there for each other, a beautiful house in the suburbs of New Orleans, two dogs, and educated folks. If anyone visited and saw your theatrics, it was said to be “a childish buffoonery”. There could be no aberrations in your family.
CHAPTER II. The Adolescence
You have your first cigarette when you’re thirteen – you stole it from your father – and your mother locks you inside the house for the whole week. Or at least that’s the story you tell everyone on Monday, and your peers look at you with respect. No one knows if it actually happened, or were you simply sick with flu; maybe you spent the days wandering around town, skipping classes, or was it something much, much worse? Childish rumors are spreading, and there’s no confirmation, nor deny.
You’re intelligent enough to stay silent, to manipulate and tease. In fact, you’re smart enough to be at the top of your class and get rather decent grades. You have friends, you are popular, and is there anything else you would need?
CHAPTER III. The Landslide
You desire the things that will destroy you in the end, it was always the path you’d choose. Fights, drugs, parties – your sister was supposed to be a role model, at least until she fell in love with your best friend and conceived a child out of wedlock. Before your neighbors could tell, they were all shipped off to New York. To study, they’d say. Soon enough you were also ripped away from your childhood home – for actual studies. And you were glad.
Sometimes there is a luxurious amount of time before anything bad happens. For a while, you were happy. The teeth inside you were content, they didn’t ask for offerings. But before you buy tickets to visit the three who matter the most, you hear about the accident – it’s a phone call, and your mother is weeping.
The teeth are clenching, you know there are secrets hidden from you.
CHAPTER IV. The Ascent
There is a period when it is clear that you have gone wrong but you continue. Someone you cared for – your wife – was now lost, but you get a glimpse of her whenever you see your kid. You don’t regret anything, though, you spent too many nights forgetting you, too, had teeth. You’ve made the weapon of yourself, you’re well-respected.
The seed you’ve always carried inside you is now blooming, you don’t wish to hide it anymore. There’s more to your smile, you can be merciless and there are myths of the capability of your hands.
Just a boy, not a villain. Right?
Other info:
– Living in New York for so many years now, Malik has enough acquaintances to throw a decent birthday party, but only a handful of them know enough about him – his existence has always been surrounded in mysterious fog & rumors. How did he climb the ladder so steadily, so quickly; was it nepotism or was it talent? Was it his viciousness or the innocent smile? He is very corrupt, too. Both literally and morally.
– Definitely using the Snake Den for his own personal gain.
– Always was known as a bit of a bad seed, but this was also usually carefully hidden by his parents. Either way, now his lust for danger and rottenness is being fulfilled. But once again – not everyone can see that. Malik is helpful, caring, pleasant and gracious to most – whether it’s real or just a disguise is for them to realize. It all depends on their relationship. However, he’s someone who’s only caring if it benefits him. Was he nice to you once? Don’t worry, if he sees it’s better for him to betray you now – that’s what he will do.
– His family is quite well-off. Both a blessing and a curse: while it was nice to have whatever he desired, this life came with a separate set of rules and secrets. Model behavior, private education centers and studying until late at night, all of the mishaps hidden in the drawers.
– Leaving the relationship with his ex wife mostly open. The break up, however, did happen because of Malik. But it’s going to be a wanted connection so what she’s doing and whether she was supportive of his corrupt ways is completely open for now. He does see their daughter quite often, though!

Looking at Garten of BanBan II… I actually feel kind of optimistic.
This second game feels like it does have more effort put into it- and it’s more genuine, less of a cash grab especially without the merch link right there. I’m not gonna blame the devs for charging money bc it seems they are very low budget, and I’d prefer a game costing money rather than asking you to buy overpriced merch.
There’s a somewhat scarier atmosphere and I think the direction the story is heading could prove to be interesting.
Spoiler alert:
Saw the human experimentation thing coming from a mile away. Not the most original in the mascot-based horror niche, but I’m a sucker for it and am actually kinda interested in seeing why it’s happening in this facility posing as a kindergarten, of all places. Also, BanBan as a possible good guy is very interesting. Yes, Alice and Mommy Long Legs both send you on fetch quests with ulterior motives, but BanBan seems to genuinely care about saving the kids, even if it means he’s not heroic enough to do it himself.
It’s also interesting that he’s apparently not the “major” threat- that’s Stinger Flynn, apparently. Unless BanBan is lying/tricking the MC, which is like a 50/50 chance.
The game also, surprisingly, has a sense of humor. BanBan’s note telling you he’s gonna knock you out, his sheepish apology, NabNab’s misery, and Seline (the snail) reaching the chase scene too late all actually got a chuckle out of me.
However, it’s not exactly the most riveting gameplay. The game still seems kinda slow, glitchy, and like there isn’t as much of an “active” threat. Everything is very … compartmentalized? Until the last chase scene there doesn’t seem to be an active threat chasing you down.
And the story does have some pitfalls and confusing bits. It’s frustrating to me that they are dropping gradual hints in the notes alone- at this point I wish there was more of a why and maybe even more of an admission. BanBan sees himself as human still, yes, but certainly he’s aware everyone else thinks he’s BanBan? And that he’s in a lab? But he never says “yeah they mighta turned me into something I’m not, but deep down I’m human and you can trust me”
And while I like the idea of Stinger Flynn as a major threat I’m surprised NabNab isn’t more of an opposing force. Like they’re literally an obstacle for like the construction section and they peer out as a lil secret when you finish the chase scene and turn back. For someone teased as a big thing, they seem more like a needless red herring and underwhelming extra. It’d be better if they were more present in this chapter.
The … attempt at social commentary in the classroom segment was also just weird? There’s not really a popular kid weird kid bullying hierarchy in kindergarten of all places… and the metaphor is just very bland and fake deep and whatnot. Unless it’s just BanBaleena running the school like she thinks they’re run bc she’s a human experiment with no memory/knowledge of the outside world. Or some sort of commentary on the game community? Eh, it was just weirdly cynical and I didn’t dig it.
And it’s weird that they’re already advertising game 3. It’s a chapter system and it’s bound to happen, but it makes me think they’re rushing it a little.
So it’s not perfect by any means. There’s a couple of glaring issues of disorganization and rougher edges, hell some of the worries concerning it being too “kiddy” still ring true. But it also seems to confirm the game is growing into its own unique self and is a genuine attempt at making a decent game rather than something thrown together to make some money off of children. There’s some heart. It may be small or weak, but it’s there.
I never thought I’d be rooting for the Euphoric Brothers, but I do actually hope they improve from here and actually make something some people can dig. They’re not really some insidious force like people make them out to be, just two people trying in a… pretty flawed way? They gotta work on a lot of stuff, from the game to how they have taken criticism, but they’re not goddawful, the first game was just the worst first impression ever.
And…If anything BanBan’s popularity is inspiring. It’s a good reminder that anyone can make a game- and possibly succeed in getting what they wish.
Tldr: not winning any awards any time soon, but Garten of BanBan is not a total waste. I hope the Devs listen to the criticism they’ve gotten and improve from here, too.
And I. Do like NabNab and Stinger Flynn. And BanBan. I am not immune to silly blob thing.

main tags : loki x original character, post-avengers 2012, canon divergence - post-thor: the dark world, canon-typical violence, mentions of torture
summary: In the aftermath of the Battle of New York, the Avengers need a few days to build a transport device for the Tesseract. With the Helicarrier damaged and surveillance offline, SHIELD sends an asset to guard Loki in the interim: a young woman who sees the truth in all things, and cannot lie.
Even long presumed dead, her memories lost to her, Loki would know her anywhere.
And this changes things.
Some things last beyond infinity. And the universe is in love with chaos.
(Loki was never looking for redemption. It came as an unexpected side-effect.)

He didn't know how long it was until they spoke again.
"May I ask you something?"
Loki was turned to one side, his shoulder pressed to the wall of the cell, one boot propped up on the bone-white bench in front of him, fingertips laced in his lap, the books carefully stacked and pushed underneath.
Outside the cell, his guard was laid on her side amongst the rose and ivory sheets, one arm tucked beneath the pillow, the other hand fisted close to her heart, curls blending against the silvered skin at her shoulder blades, jagged as a splinter point in solid glass. A hardback lay within reach on the mattress, but untouched.
She might have been mistaken as asleep, or in a light doze- like a cursed princess from a fairytale- but the pattern of her breathing was wrong, and she answered promptly, as clear as crystal.
"Anything," she said neutrally.
Loki measured his breathing, weighing each pull of air within the scales of his lungs.
"You said that you did something reckless, enough for SHIELD to regard you as a serious threat. What was it?"
She hummed out a laugh.
"Oh. That," she said, as soft as a dream, shifting, wool-clad calves sliding against the sheets to tuck one ankle behind the opposite knee, stark as soot against the page of cotton and silk. "Yeah. I stole the Tesseract."
Loki froze in disbelief, his eyebrows steepling.
"What?"
"Last summer. When I broke into the Joint Dark Matter Research Facility. I took it." She paused. "I put it back after a month," she added lightly, as though in her defence.
The irony sank through himr.
Loki exhaled a laugh, closing his eyes and letting his head rest against the column behind him.
"We committed the same offence," he murmured.
"Mm-hm."
"I know I had my reasons," Loki mulled, "but what were yours?"
He heard her nails scrape against the linens.
"My objective was the PEGASUS files," she confessed against the pillows. "The archive was deep underground, near the testing chamber, and I could feel the Tesseract through the rock and concrete. It was like the Bifrost, and Mjolnir, and the Destroyer, only- more intense. And awake. It was like it was- calling out. Tapping on the glass to get my attention. Almost like the sceptre, in retrospect, but less insidious, less invasive. I knew it was a risk. I was operating on a narrow margin. And I was only there for the files. But its energy was just so familiar, and- something in me knew I would regret it if I ignored it. So I took a detour on the way out. As soon as I stepped into the room, the Tesseract's energy flared. It was like- like being greeted by an old friend. It was- happy to see me. When Agent Barton caught me, I had already pulled the Tesseract out of its inset."
She shifted, hair rumpling into a cloud of spun sugar as she buried herself deeper into the pillow.
"It made me an offer. I made a snap decision. I let it take me away from there."
Loki listened, staring at the column across from him. Its matte ivory surface was devoid of visible scuffs of scratches even under the unforgiving overhead ring of light, drawing out flaws like the crisp lens of a microscope, leaving Loki with a pristine canvas on which to sketch his thoughts.
The Tesseract's apparent sentience was no revelation to Loki. There was a reason Dr Selvig had referred to it as she, and his commentary on its behaviour was no mere convenient metaphor, as his colleagues had likely assumed. When Loki had reached out to Midgard, his magic coasting off the power source of the sceptre, he had felt the Tesseract turn its gaze on him, scrutinising and inscrutable- and eventually, by whatever unknowable metric it employed, found him sufficient. Later, when it had been removed from its containment briefcase in the underground tunnels, it had pulsed faintly in greeting, seemingly unconcerned to find itself in Loki's possession.
"Where did it take you?" He asked.
Loki heard her fist clenching beneath the pillow.
"It made the stars as stepping stones," she said quietly. "It took me across the length of the universe. For a month, it showed me- dying stars, the ruins of the Celestials, molten rock cooling into a new planet, civilisations at their peak, wildernesses and spacecraft cities and empires on the brink of falling. But it always took me back to the same barren planet to rest. Vormir. And whenever I was asleep- the Tesseract showed me you."
Loki's eyes flicked down, catching her on his periphery.
"Me?"
"I saw an asteroid field, out in deep space-" She hesitated. "Sanctuary?"
He closed his eyes, jaw tensing.
She knew. It was too late. It had been too late since before she had stepped into the room.
"Eventually, I asked the Tesseract to take me there. It did. And I saw- I saw you."
Loki swallowed.
"And," he said carefully, in an echo her earlier question, "what was your first impression?"
There was another shuffle of fabric.
"You're going to make me say it," she muttered ruefully, muffled by the plush of the pillow. "Stars."
Loki raised an eyebrow, curiosity and pulse piqued.
When she finally spoke again, her tone was a blend of earnest and abashed.
"You were the most beautiful thing I had ever seen."
Her words lingered, like shiver of a crescendo's echo, vitrifying the air into a delicate web of glass, brittle and frozen.
"You were like- like a lungful of air on a midwinter night, cold enough to scorch. It was like tasting the dark between the stars. Or the entropy that ignites galaxies. You were wounded, brilliant, and beautiful- and I-"
She choked off whatever she was about to say with a small, strangled noise.
Forcing every muscle in his body to be still, Loki gave her a moment to collect herself.
"My soul knew you," she breathed into the quiet, crushing the words out of herself. "I swear it. I felt something just- lock into place. Like a part of me was waiting for it. As though, this entire time, I had been looking for-"
She took a shuddering breath and spoke in a rush on the exhale.
"Anyway. That's why I did it. Why I put the Tesseract back. And why I came here."
"You were ordered here," Loki countered, throat tense, sorting through the fragments of what she had said that he could bear to handle, and studiously ignoring the parts that could break him utterly if he allowed himself to think on them.
"I was. Do you remember why?"
Loki's brow creased.
"The assault. The damage extended to the surveillance for this chamber-"
"I never said that."
Loki sat up straighter in consternation, pressing on the heels of his hands. "No, you said-"
"- that the Helicarrier was damaged in the assault, and the surveillance here was intermittent," she said. "I don't recall ever saying that one caused the other, though."
Loki slackened in realisation.
"When you hear hooves, think horses, not zebras," she mused, quietly prideful, "right?"
"SHIELD made an assumption."
"Mm-hm."
"You- how did you-?"
Loki heard the chafe of fabric as she sat up.
Involuntarily, his gaze was drawn to the motion. She half-knelt within the nest of mussed silk, her back to him, the gloss of her hair tangled, soft jersey shorts sliding up, dark socks loosening, the strap of her camisole slipping off one golden shoulder.
The sight was distracting enough that Loki startled when she flicked one finger towards the ceiling.
"Say what you mean,
Tell me I'm right
And let the sun rain down on me-"
Under her voice- warm and faintly sweet- the light directly above her surged brighter, and Loki felt the pull.
A shiver chased down the fuller of his spine, diffusing across his shoulder blades, at the rush of unrefined magic saturating the air.
The excess of it spilled from its focus like an overfilled basin, streaming through the wiring, mercilessly amplifying the flow of electricity until the circuitry was overloading. The bulb as threatened burst and shatter, the filament forced aglow like a seasonal flower in a glasshouse.
Its currents tugged at him, compelling, soul-deep.
Her wrist flipped, now pointing towards the cell.
"Give me a sign
I wanna believe-"
The light above her stabilised, released from the magic's grip.
Instead, the rings of electric glass within the cage began to gutter. The diodes dimmed, struggling against the mana pushing against its power source, flowing backwards and disrupting the currents. Dashes of shadow flickered and slashed violently across the reinforced plates of the ceiling and floor, like lightning seen from fathoms below the ocean.
Her hand tipped towards the wall of the chamber.
"Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, Mona Lisa
You're guaranteed to run this town-"
Loki heard the hydraulics beyond the black steel stutter, the soft whirr from the blades of cooling fans coasting to a stop. The screen of the control terminal glitched, various functions and error messages winking across the glass between broken graphics.
Then- the electronic hum of his cell ebbed.
"Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh, Mona Lisa
I'd pay to see you frown-!"
As she carried the last, bending note, the magic in the air faded.
Like an orchestra warming before a performance, the failing mechanisms restarted in staggered order
The stalled electronics breathed back to being in a low thrum, pulling together into a gentle, tuneless cloud of sound.
The damage wasn't permanent, and wasn't intended to be. It was a demonstration, a glimpse of what she was capable of.
"Spellsong."
Loki could taste the residue of her mana settling on his skin like a fine dust of powdered gold, seraphic.
It was a faded art on Asgard, diminished by centuries of disinterest and disregard, but rooted deep in its foundations, an unaltered truth- words had power; as I speak, I create. Language was an intermediary, an instrument.
And hers was a voice of truth.
Her hand dropped.
"It's not strictly necessary, but," her fingers brushed her throat absently, "it's a good conduit. Helps me control my power, for anything more sophisticated than just- pouring mana into channels that already exist. Carving out new paths, or redirecting them, is- well, even using spellsong, I can only manage the basics without something exploding. Thanks to my magical core-"
She tapped her breastbone.
"- I can't do anything that requires finesse. I'm sure you could tell."
He could. With only a dose of her magic as a sample, Loki could tell that her core was strong- too strong. Trying to tap into it for complex magecraft would be like trying to fill a champagne flute from a waterfall: if the sheer thundering force of the currents didn't shatter the glass, then more water would be knocked out of the vessel than be caught by it. Simple spells were a more viable vessel for her mana, with their straightforward intent and fewer intricacies to risk breaking; the more basic the structure, the more securely they would serve as a vessel for her mana.
Yet, ironically, spellsong was frequently considered one of the most difficult branches of magic to master.
To use spellsong was to call upon the world to listen, and have it yield.
"SHIELD doesn't know," Loki guessed.
She snorted softly, pulling the strap of her camisole back up and ruffling her fingers through her hair, loosening the snarls. "I'm not stupid."
"You could escape."
"I could have never let them catch me in the first place," she retorted testily.
Loki paused.
That's why I did it, she had said, why I came here.
Oh.
She hadn't been talking about the chamber. She was talking about SHIELD.
"You bought the Tesseract back," he said, soft and almost accusatory.
She stilled- then shifted to sit on her heels, shoulders pulling back as she stretched the softness out of her limbs.
"I had good reason to believe I was making the right decision," she said cryptically.
"And do you still think it was the right decision?"
Her laugh was like the sensation of putting pressure on a broken ankle.
In one smooth motion, she swivelled her legs underneath her, turning to face him.
"I'm not a particularly good person, you know," she informed him, the twist of her mouth factual and bittersweet, "not really. Despite what people assume about honesty as an inherent virtue. But everyone has some ugliness in them, the deeper you look- there's blood beneath every layer of skin. It's just that some people have the luxury of never knowing. I know. And I-" Her lips thinned, one hand fisting against the sheets, nails scraping across the weave. "Yes. I think I made the right decision."
"You abhor unnecessary suffering," Loki pressed, sharpening.
"I don't know that it was unnecessary," she answered easily, not looking at him. "I made a decision, based on the information I had. I've chosen to trust that it wasn't."
Trust.
It was a fragile thing, and a fool's game-
Love is a dagger- and trust is the heartbeat pressing earnest into its sting–
Loki remembered the words on her lips, like a stain, her soul alight and bleeding into his touch amidst a flurry of bare flesh and searching hands and gasps and friction and too close not close enough more, the words on her tongue cracked by helpless keens and cries, answered by his wrecked noises and breathless chanted promises against her skin.
It was one of the memories that he had managed to lock away. Loki had struggled to retain his own mind over the past two years, slowly forgetting how to retake control, eventually forgetting that he wasn't in control, lost in the incoherent clamour of rage-hate-want. Through the churning shards of ice scraping behind his browbone, his mind flayed and frayed and sliced into ribbons as he reached inside, he had seized what he knew he couldn't afford to lose and hidden it away, stalling as they shaved away at his defences until he knew he had to give in.
That memory was one of those that he had saved, so untainted that it hurt.
Trust.
"I never intended to survive the fall."
