Jinns
Myths and Legends keep people on their toes and make others wonder the possibilities of things beyond the living. What if you knew something could attach to you through a mirror, through just walking at night with headphones in, or the simplest task that just makes a spiritual being attached to you…. we will be talking about the secret world of Jinns.
Tumblr media
What is a Jinn?
A jinn, in Islamic mythology, is a supernatural being that can be good, evil, or neutrally benevolent and has free will. They're mentioned in the Quran and are believed to live in a world parallel to mankind. Most people believe that jinns can attach to you from you dressing in front of a mirror, you wear strong scents outside during night, you walking with your headphones in and so much more. It is even believed that they can grant wishes.
Where do they originate?
Jinns originate from pre-Islamic Arabian religion and later incorporated into Islamic theology. They are mentioned throughout the Quran and Hadith.
Can Jinns possess or influence people?
Yes,within Islamic belief, it's thought that jinns can possess or influence people, though such occurrences are considered rare.
What are common signs of Jinn possession?
Common signs of jinn possession in folklore include unexplained physical ailments, severe mood swings, uncharacteristic behavior, and sudden knowledge of unfamiliar languages or topics. However, these are based on cultural beliefs, not scientific evidence.
How can Jinns attach to you?
Jinns are said to attach to individuals through various means, like if a person accidentally harms a jinn, through black magic, or if a jinn falls in love with a person. As stated above Jinns can fall in love with a person through scent or simply just you dressing in front of a mirror, of course there are different beliefs surrounding how they attach to you or fall in love with you but these are just the two common ones people know of.
Are there rituals to protect against Jinn possession?
Yes, in Islamic tradition, there are protective measures like reciting certain verses from the Quran, such as Ayatul Kursi, or invoking God's protection through daily prayers and adhering to a pious lifestyle.
Some myths surrounding Jinns include:
Having the ability to shape-shift, possess immense strength, or grant wishes, akin to genies in Western tales. They're also believed to live in parallel worlds to humans.
Different types of Jinns
In the lore, there are several types of jinns, such as the Marid, known for their strength and magic; the Ifrit, often depicted as cunning and powerful; and the Shaitan, commonly associated with malevolence. Each type has its own traits and hierarchy in the world of spirits.
Common misconceptions surrounding Jinns
Some common misconceptions include that all jinns are evil or malicious, when in fact, they're believed to have free will, much like humans. Another is that they are visible to us; traditionally, they're thought to exist in a realm unseen. Also, while some stories suggest jinns grant wishes, this is more a trait of genies from folk tales rather than from religious texts.
What are Jinns associated with
Jinns are associated with various elements of the supernatural. They are believed to live in a world parallel to humans, have free will, and can be good, evil, or neutral. In cultural lore, they're often linked to occurrences that are beyond human understanding, and some traditions hold that they can influence or interact with the physical world in various ways.
What do Jinns look like?
Jinns are typically unseen, believed to have delicate, fluid bodies that allow them to shift shapes as they please. They often take the shape of snakes, though they might also manifest as scorpions, lizards, or even humans. It's said they can have intimate relations with humans, resulting in offspring.
Jinns are seen in all types of way depending on your belief, some see them as evil, some see them as a free will human it all depends on your belief! This is an open world with endless possibilities and endless beliefs. You decided for yourself which opinions, myths, legends or mysteries you believe in.
I love diving into the endless possibilities and beliefs within this universe. If you have anything you would like me to cover and look into the history for, let me know and i’ll gladly do so!

Jinns (Arabic الجن, al-jinn), by Khadim Ali (born 1978 Quetta, Pakistan) • via Bibliothèque Infernale on FB
* * * *
Marching At dawn I heard among bird calls the billions of marching feet in the churn and squeak of gravel, even tiny feet still wet from the mother’s amniotic fluid, and very old halting feet, the feet of the very light and very heavy, all marching but not together, criss-crossing at every angle with sincere attempts not to touch, not to bump into each other, walking in the doors of houses and out the back door forty years later, finally knowing that time collapses on a single plateau where they were all their lives, knowing that time stops when the heart stops as they walk off the earth into the night air. by Jim Harrison from Saving Daylight; Copper Canyon Press, 2006

Iblis is the villain in Islam. He was considered arrogant for not bowing down to human beings. But what’s arrogant about acknowledging fact? Jinns are, per se, more powerful than human beings. The most twisted part of this all is God trying to gaslight Iblis; no human being has the kind of power and knowledge that jinns do. There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging your worth, especially when it’s objectively true.

Merging Your Multiple Timelines
Photo by Compare Fibre on Unsplash Hey, how’s it going? Is life a chaotic, crazy mess right now, or what? How’s your time management? Are you forgetting things you normally wouldn’t? Do you find it difficult to form words when you’re trying to speak? Are you losing items, and then finding them in places you already checked MANY times? How about receiving news that you could have sworn already…

in fics where luke gets plopped into the prequels i want every jedi within ten metres of him to think hes the weirdest jedi theyve ever seen. he has negative lightsaber form. he doesnt know what a kata is. he handstands when he meditates. his solution to sith is to try and have a chat. hes a political radical who keeps suggesting revolution. you ask him what the jedi code is and he says "kindness and compassion and helping those in need :) ". you ask how he used the force like that and he says some shit about how you are a luminous being limited only by your mind. the councils authority is just a suggestion. he is somehow the new favourite of both qui gon and yoda

'Desert hermit Ben Kenobi develops a reputation as a crazy wizard because he keeps talking to thin air.'
No. This is Tatooine, talking to yourself is hardly the weirdest thing they've seen. Ben Kenobi, however, keeps having full on fucking screaming rows with thin air and seemingly gets replies back, which is decidedly a step up.
(They've managed to piece together that a major point of contention is the acquisition and raising of a child? Clearly Ben is a wizard that had a bitter divorce with a desert spirit and is working through a custody dispute)

How to baby, with Good Dad Mace Windu and Questionable Dad Qui-Gon Jinn.
Yes I am reading Master and Apprentice by Claudia Gray. Yes I’m only at the beginning. Yes Qui-Gon is trying, but he just doesn’t know what he’s doing, poor dude.
