It’s not even analysis or any of sort but... what kind of reason to dislike female characters is to point out they are “actually” ugly?
It happens frequently in both Elia Martell and Sansa Stark discourse written by antis as somewhat an evidence for them not being important, good people or some mix of that.
MCU Scarlet Witch portrayal by Elizabeth Olsen is critized (among many others) of whitewashing (correctly) and... for actress being not pretty enough. Or, to quote my “fave”: having fuckin’ nasty face of r*tard (wow, congrats on ableism)
In top ten what is annoying about Elsa number 11 is her being ugly. To make matter worse, actually real problem when she almost killed her sister when she was an adult (strike her with her powers and then threw out of palace without any further thought) is on place 21.
Few people on Witcher wikia pointing out that Yennefer can’t be good fit for Geralt (book, game and show wise) because without magic she would be really horryfying to look at...?
Katniss is, indeed, strong fighter, complicated character and et cetera, but for certain Reddit discussion she can’t be called best female character of decade because she’s “far from pretty”.
Frost from Mortal Kombat 11 is written to be hate sink of sort (yes, I do like her, but that’s not the point): betrayed her master (beloved by fandom Subzero) for power, is incredibly arrogant and self-centered. But most common criticism? You guessed it.
Yue from ATLA among being called annoying, useless and weak, huge part of antis bring in her looks as another “flaw”.
Before writing “ooh, everyone has different beauty ideal, what do you expect?” - that’s not my point. Even if all these characters above were atrocious in looks, what kind of reason to dislike the character is that.
And if you feel urge to point that Katniss/ Yen/ MCU Scarlet Witch/ Frost/ any of the ladies are awful no matter their looks, that isn’t point of this post.
Also, yes, male characters are not immune to this, althought it’s certainly goes far more often about them being “not masculine enough”. Just scroll through Samwell Tarly criticism. And then compare it to S@ndor Cl3gane/T^rion L@nnister criticism AND defence against said criticism.

On Narrative Bias
I keep saying it annoys me how Wanda has done so many evil ass things and is never held accountable for her actions, and it never fails that someone tries to respond with “but aren’t you a loki stan? He’s done evil shit too! So you have a double standard and are a misogynist!!!!” Yeah, no. The difference is that you can clearly tell who the writers have predetermined as a hero vs a villain. You can tell who they want you to root for. Loki’s actions are given narrative consequences as harsh as possible, while Wanda’s are narratively excused and softened and sympathised. Let me show you what I mean.
* Loki commits treasons, tries to kill his brother & attempts genocide -> Loki’s father rejects him while he attempts suicide
* Loki tries to conquer earth -> Loki is sentenced to life in prison
* Loki incapacitates the king and secretly takes the throne -> Loki is threatened with a hammer to the face, we’re reminded how awful he is by all the other characters for the rest of the movie & he would’ve faced more consequences if the apocalypse hadn’t interrupted
* Loki steals the tesseract from the vault -> Loki watches his brother be tortured & then has his neck snapped
Now compare that to…
* Wanda willingly signs up to work for a nazi organisation, tries to help an evil robot murder the avengers, intentionally sets the hulk loose on a town of innocent people, & helps destroy Sokovia for a lil while -> Wanda gets a fatherly pep talk from Clint & is immediately accepted as an Avenger
* Wanda accidentally murders a bunch of people while on a mission -> Wanda is put on temporary house arrest in a giant mansion with her boyfriend
* Wanda buries her boyfriend/teammate under like 10 floors of concrete, breaks out of house arrest, & goes against a government order -> the leader of the superhero team defends her, a grown ass woman, by saying “She’s just a kid!”, she’s detained in a government prison for like a week maybe (?) during which she’s shown as a sad helpless victim to encourage sympathy from viewers, & then she gets busted out by the ex-team leader & eventually gets to run off to Scotland with her boyfriend
* Wanda holds an entire town hostage & tortures them just to fulfil her own grief-fuelled fantasy -> one of the women Wanda attacked reassures her that she’s the actual victim in all this and that the people she tortured just have no idea what she’s sacrificed for them & she escapes to an isolated location to read a forbidden demon book and make herself more powerful without anyone interfering
* Wanda goes on a serial killing spree across the multiverse, kidnaps a child, holds her hostage, tortures her, & attempts to take her powers all so she can steal another Wanda’s children because she misses her children that were never actually real in the first place -> Wanda gets some badass power sequences and #girlboss one liners, is the one that destroys the demon book, essentially saving the multiverse from future corruption, & is allowed to die a hero’s death (which we all know isn’t permanent)
See the difference?

If you hate Wanda cause she’s “bad” but defend Loki cause he’s “broken and misunderstood” you’re a hypocrite.

This is what we could have had for Wanda Maximoff in my imagination we would have had such an amazing powerful Romani Jewish woman with an wonderful story but no marvel decided to whitewash and erase an character and to make it worse use racist stereotypes about the character and make her join n*zis! And they chose an actress who says racist things about said character! I can only hope that in the future that if they remake the movies they do Wanda Django Maximoff justice and make her what she deserves to be!

I have to give praise to the makeup and costume department for Multiverse of Madness because when we first see Wanda, she's collected, hair nice, looks put together.
And then at the end she's completely disheveled.
Tumblr media
Eyes crazy, hair unkempt, she looks like she hasn't slept in years. Perfectly representing Wanda's downward spiral during Multiverse of Madness.

anyways the entirety of WandaVision and Multiverse of Madness could have been avoided if somebody acknowledged Wanda and her grief at the end of Endgame and invited her into their life

Why did I just realize that Miguel and Wanda have the same back stories, Miguel went to another universe to get a daughter, Wanda went to another universe to get her sons, the only difference being that Wanda actually experienced a pregnancy and her kids and subsequently the loss of them in Westview so she's actually experiencing real grief towards her sons, whereas Miguel was just universe hopping and saw one where his alter ego had a daughter waited for him to die and took his place. And while I'm not at all minimizing Miguel's later losses, the fandom's reaction to Miguel compared to Wanda infuriates me to no end. Miguel is a grieving father. Wanda is a crazy bitch and "the kids were never hers" and a villain. Fuck that.
"You do it and you're a hero, I do it and I'm a villain, that doesn't seem fair" is the line that keeps on giving

My face: 😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬
Yeah, Elizabeth Olsen had no idea Wanda was going to be the villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness until near the end of shooting WandaVision, and her initial reacrion was "😳 Oh crap, how am I going to weave this into WandaVision? 😳" I would say it is a big red flag that the lead of the show that is required viewing for Multiverse of Madness wasn't convinced by what was happening in WandaVision that she was being set up to be the villain of the movie that the show was building up to. 🤨

Wanda Stan’s this is for you if you see a anti post about Wanda and you see the tags and there is no tag that is not anti Wanda you do know you can just scroll right? It’s not the OPs fault if it ends up on the regular Wanda tag! I see an anti Tony post in the pro Tony tag all the time and if I see it tagged right I scroll but if it’s not I kindly ask if they can tag it right because I get Tony is an fictional character and people can not like him! So please just respect someone’s opinions unless it’s a completely made up thing they are trying to push about the character, I’m looking at Tony antis bc I be seeing some crazy ass shit about Tony that make me question if they ever even seen the movies!

“She doesn’t want to torture them. She’s not a villain. She’s suffering. She wants her children like [Waldron] wrote… [She’s] just someone who loves too deeply and will do anything to be with the one she loves.”
—Sam Raimi on Wanda Maximoff

i really doubt she's dead. it made sense that wanda was the only one able to stop the scarlet witch (616 wanda, no one else) but it'd be stupid of marvel to drop her so easily when wandavision is still the public's favorite mcu series so far. she changed her mindset, it still feels like they're setting up for young avengers, so im guessing wanda will stay low profile for a while and reappear in probably one of the unannounced mcu movies/shows
