I had a vague, kinda nonsensical line come to mind when I was thinking about Eclipse a while ago where he says "If I'm just a mesh of other people, what does that make me? The stitch or the space between?" and upon thinking about it again, in a very Lunar-like way my brain just announced "QUILT." and now I'm actually like sorta obsessed with the metaphor presented here NDJANDJS

based on Virtute The Cat Explains Her Departure by The Weakerthans (lyrics and beginner sketch under the cut)
It had something to do with the rain
Leaching loamy dirt
And the way the back lane came alive
Half moon whispered, "Go"
For a while I heard you
Missing steps in the street
And your anger pleading
In an uncertain key
Singing the sound that you found for me
When the winter took the tips of my ears
Found this noisy home
Full of pigeons and places to hide
And when the voices die
I emerged to watch abandoned machines
Waiting for their men to return
I remember the way
I would wait for you
To arrive with kibble
And a box full of beer
How I'd scratch the empties
Desperate to hear
You make the sound that you found for me
After scrapping with the ferals and the tabby
Let you brush my matted fur
How I'd knead into your chest while you were sleeping
Shallow breathing made me purr
But I can't remember the sound that you found for me
I can't remember the sound that you found for me
I can't remember the sound

Baby quilt that’s bright and cheery! Simple strip piecing and then a four patch of half square triangles in each corner.
All the piecing and the straight line quilting was done on my grandmother’s old pfaff machine. It died a pretty quick death once she got it out of storage for me to use. Even after taking in to be cleaned and serviced the motor was done.
Can you believe this was made in 2017? One of my first dozen projects once I took up quilting as a hobby.

So I'm designing a Sailor Moon quilt. I want to make kits and sell them to try to make some money. This is my personal prototype, but whoops!! I didn't aline the star properly. Very much just eyeballed it. The crease in the middle is where it's SUPPOSED to be lined up.
Suppose I'll keep that in mind for when I'm writing instructions

new gender loading.....
[Image ID: A rectangular flag with eleven horizontal stripes of equal length and width. From top to bottom the colors are: navy blue, blue, lilac, grey, light heather, off white, light heather, grey, lilac, blue, navy blue. End ID.]
selesilvic!
( sele from selene, a grecian moon goddess and silv from silver )
a gender related to moonlight as silver! this could be through describing moonlight as silvery, depictions of it being made of silver, or any other thing kinda like that!

your regency sailor moon dress is soso cool, you look so pretty! I'm always so impressed by people who sew entire dresses its insanely cool to me
Thank you!
I will now explain how I did it.
the above pattern is the original pattern I was given by my friend Sofie, and the reversed extended part is the adjustments I made in order to make it fit my bust (you need to extend it vertical more that horizontal).
I made two layers, the sheer chiffon layer and the opaque cream satin. I made the sleeves out of the same pattern and then using hexagons folded them into points which I arranged underneath the neckline bias and machine sewed on like this:
I recommend using hand felling to finish the seams on the inside, but I used French seams to finish the sleeves and arm scythes. I ended up hand finishing the inside of the neckline because I didn't want it showing on the outside, this was meant to be a more historically accurate version of the serenity dress.
Then I added a waistband the size of my waist and onto the waistband pleated 4m of both the cream fabric and chiffon (I pleated about 1m into 15cm either side of the back of the dress, and distributed the rest equally to taste in the front).
I decided the waistband was too thick, and shortened it, and then added a pink waistband that I handsewed on for the effect I wanted. Here's after I hemmed both the inner and outer layer of the skirt.
I then used made it lace up in the back using ties that extended from the neckline so it came together in the back like this:
I then used hot glue to customise these shoes and made a matching bag out of scrap and pearl chain I found in a charity shop that I also used to make some jewellery
I also ordered a parasol, gloves, and Kanekalon (to make the braids) from amazon to complete the look! My hair is my own save for the buns and braids on the pigtails. I was going to a ball, I didn't particularly want to be dealing with the mess of a wig so I went for extensions.
happy dancing!
