Essential Steven Universe Episodes
Hello everyone! 
Looking to watch Steven Universe, but not drag yourself through all the episodes? Never fear! I’ve made a list of what I believe to be the most essential episodes of Steven Universe with unnecessary ones labelled as such (and my reasons why). Now here’s some things to keep in mind before looking at the list:
When I say “essential” I mean ones that introduce important elements to the story. New important characters, new powers, episodes that develop the character and plot-relevant episodes fit this category. 
Episodes that develop certain characters will be labeled as “unnecessary” if they don’t contribute enough to the plot or their growth.
There may be some personal bias since I found one or two filler episodes to be enjoyable despite their uselessness to the overall plot but I’ll label them as well so you know.
 Avoid reading ahead. The labels for unnecessary ones may contain SPOILERS so if you care about that kind of stuff: you’ve been warned.
On to the list!
Season 1

3. Cheeseburger Backpack: Steven’s first mission
a. Together Breakfast: shows off gem rooms and a monster but that’s really it.
b. Frybo: introduces PeeDee but he doesn’t ever really do anything so...?

a. Tiger Millionaire: while there is some character development, there isn’t really enough to make it worth watching since most of the episode is focused on wrestling.

a. Beach Party: Gems piss off the family that runs the town’s pizza shop and try to make it up to them by inviting them to hang out. Shenanigan ensue, but has no lasting impact on the story.

a. Joking Victim: develops Sadie and Lars’ relationship; skip if you don’t really care about either
16. Steven and the Stevens
17. Monster Buddies
18. An Indirect Kiss
19. Mirror Gem & Ocean Gem 
a. House Guest: shows why Steven has trouble with his powers, but nothing too important happens other than that; watch if you wanna see more Pearl & Greg interactions
20. Space Race: shows Pearl’s fondness of space; develops her character and background but not necessary; skip if you want
a. Secret Team: if you don’t like episodes about characters making temporary truces I’d avoid this one; not enough character development to make it worthwhile.
b. Island Adventure: another Sadie and Lars episode; Lars opens about his feelings but not much else happens.
21. Keep Beach City Weird: relevant for SU: Future reasons, but if you don’t like Ronaldo skip
22. Fusion Cuisine
a. Garnet’s Universe: contributes nothing, but is a kinda cute episode.
b. Watermelon Steven: introduces a character(s) that is only used a total of three (maybe four?) times; also introduces a power that is rarely ever used when it matters.
23. Lion 3: Straight to Video
24. Alone Together
25. Warp Tour
a. The Test: some good character discussions, but not important overall.
26. Future Vision
27. On the Run
a. Horror Club: if you don’t care for Ronaldo, Sadie or Lars: skip. Even if you care about Lars, skip this one since you kinda get the gist of his character at this point.
b. Winter Forecast: a few nice moments, but ultimately a big “what-if” episode

a. Open Book: a Steven and Connie episode; fun if you like them, but skippable
b. Shirt Club: focuses on one of the Cool Kids but ultimately means nothing
c. Say Uncle: Uncle Grandpa Crossover; some funny moments from the Gems but if you don’t like UG avoid this one.

a. Political Power: addresses certain concerns the Gems have, but nothing important crosses over into the next episode; most about Mayor Dewey anyway

c. Reformed: introduces Amethyst's new form and shows more of her insecurities but that’s all this episode is really good for.

a. Too Far: develops Peridot and Amethyst’s relationship, and develops Peridot’s character, but not enough to make this episode necessary

a. Future Boy Zoltron: skippable since it focuses on Mr. Smiley and a former colleague; watch if you want to see some fun interactions.
b. Last One Out of Beach City: fun episode and shows some of Pearl’s development, but still skippable.
c. Onion Gang: it’s an Onion episode so: skippable.
d. Gem Harvest: Thanksgiving episode; reveals Steven’s real last name but nothing else important.

b. Tiger Philanthropist: callback to an older episode; doesn’t contribute anything to the current plot

a. Lion 4: Alternate Ending: goes no where and contributes nothing; reveals possible name for Steven if he was a girl though so...cool I guess? Skip it.
11. Doug Out
a. The Good Lars: develops Lars’ character a little, but not much else

a. Stuck Together: Steven and Lars’ relationship develops further along with Lars’ character; some dramatic moments make it an overall a good episode, but you can skip it if you want.

b. Sadie Killer: Sadie starts a band and that’s it. Skip if you don’t care much for Sadie.
c. Kevin Party: watch for character drama and one resolution, but skip if you can’t stand Kevin.

a. The Big Show: a Sadie’s band episode; skippable
b. Pool Hopping: shows off Garnet’s fears and insecurities but is still skippable

b. Little Graduation: skip if you never really cared too much about any of the human characters since this is mostly about them.
c. Prickly Pair: downer of an episode; no one ever mentions anything that’s said in this episode, but check it out if you wanna see Steven more of Steven’s plant powers!

A/N: as a survive it’s very important for me to NEVER focus on the abuse itself. I try very hard to imply it and show the damage it can do but honestly I’m tired of reading stories where it’s just pain. So I try very hard to focus on the recovery and healing. I’d love feedback on this. Also check Ao3 for NSFW art lol. i forgot tumblr hates links so i think i’ll just edit it back in after a week or something to keep things organized.
Some how a shopping trip also turned into a raid on the local arcade. Fiona was winning despite what all the leaderboards was saying. Winter was cheating, she had to be. Robyn and Joanna was the better shot, they were the only ones that used range weapons a regular basis! Still Winter came in first. May should have won the batter’s game, her favorite weapon was a staff. Number One? Winter Schnee. The other three loudly cheered Fiona on as she adjusted her grip on the hammer.  
The last game was a the gold on ‘Test of the Strength.’ Sure, some of was actual strength but almost all of it was leverage. Fiona loved stealing… borrowing! Loved borrowing heavy weapons. Axes… Elm’s hammer. She almost got Marrow’s boomerang and still had two years to do it. A worker quickly stepped in as Joanna was some how about to convince the man they’ll settle the matter like adults.  
Several minutes later they had enough tickets to buy all the giant stuff animals on display. Like adults, everyone gave their tickets to the children nearby.  
Like an adult, Fiona slammed her fist on the counter and demanded the giant lion.  
“By the brothers, Fi…” Robyn mumbled a little embarrassed.
It was the fifth time she’d manage to surprise and fluster the women. Fiona wasn’t counting the smirk tugging at her lips and cute mole on her chin. The fluttering in her chest wasn’t getting worse and her hands didn’t feel cold and empty when she looked at Robyn. Fiona only hugged her stuff animal tighter.
“I won and Winter cheated! I deserve a trophy!” Fiona argued sticking her tongue out at them. In truth she just needed something to desperately keep her hands occupied. Joanna was the only one that smiled fondly at her and ruffled her hair. The other three acted disappointed.  
And to be extra annoying she refused to absorbed it and forced the group to return to Robyn’s apartment. Fiona dumped several bags of clothes onto the living room floor and then took the couch with her new best friend. May took the time to choose to pick out everyone’s outfit and will most likely buy a few more accessories when they head up to Atlas.  
“What should I name it?” Fiona asked with a grin, ears wiggling happily.  
“Childish,” Robyn said with a soft teasing bite. Fiona didn’t notice the way her eyes light up, all bright and unguarded. Or noticed Robyn’s habit of blowing her fringe out of her eyes.  
“Deviant,” May said slowly shifting through the bags. Eventually the others helped her but Fiona stayed on the couch.  
“Selfish,” Joanna added.  
“You all suck,” Fiona mumbled. She fell back, laying down on the couch and not even taking up all the space. She held up the stuff lion above her, playing with its tiny round ears as her own fluttered happily.  
Today was the most fun she had in years. And not because of the sex. A sudden shiver rolled through Fiona’s body, a flash of heat dried her mouth and warmed her cheeks. The sight of Robyn stretched out before her… The sweetness rolling off her tongue and down her chin and neck. Her ears fluttered, remembering how Robyn screamed Fiona’s name.  
Fiona buried her face against the muzzle. Trying not to groan at the memory. Robyn was her teammate, going to be her huntress partner. Not… Fiona tried to shelved her dancing heart. It was just… stress relief between friends. Casual hookups and friends with benefits weren’t unheard of when majority of Atlas’ population was asexual.  
Robyn will be her new partner. They’ll pass their combat final with flying colors and… and ideally Robyn will stay. Fiona swallowed her racing heart back down to her chest. She’d get to see those stupid eyes everyday.  
“I’ll name you… Spring.” Fiona said cuddling her trophy. Robyn glanced at her with a smirk and raised brow. “For new beginnings!” Fiona huffed and pouted at the women. Robyn’s smile eased the tension from her shoulders, looking… a lot how like Winter looks at May. Stupidly fond and earnest and Fiona had to look away with ears fluttering about.  
“You have competition now,” Joanna teased, elbowing her partner. Fiona saw a light blush on Robyn’s tanned cheeks for a second. They all turned back to the elites, noticing May holding up an outfit that wasn’t for any of them.  
“They won’t be able to do any compression for awhile,” Winter said. They, meaning the Thief. Fiona sat up, resting her chin on her trophy’s shoulder. The two elites picked out an outfit for the Thief on their last shopping trip. May shifted a little more, looking away uncomfortably.  
Fiona realized that she never saw May in anything that she didn’t want to wear. She switched between the boy’s and girl’s uniform according to her mood, wore makeup whenever she felt like it and never because it was required. Fiona always thought it was May being May, a rebellious brat tired of all the rules… the rules just never applied to her in the beginning.  
Fiona touched her ears, only being able to relate on a different level. “Scarf’s are good too,” Fiona said. Her teammates gave her a pointed look with a soft sneer. Fiona pouted at it back before Robyn playfully sat down next to her and tugged at the scarf around her neck.  
“Are you ever going to give it back?” May tried to be teasing but was still a little tense.  
“Maybe… not?” Fiona mumbled, an idea hitting her. She blushed and looked away. It was stupid and humans always got the wrong impression but it was true. “Maybe we should give it to the Thief-”  
“Glade,” May gently reminded.  
“We should give it to Glade,” Fiona corrected. “They responded pretty well to me and May so it might calm them down.” Joanna and Robyn glanced at each other a little confused. “Um… Faunus are wired differently,” Fiona answered, fidgeting a little in her seat. She never actually had to explain it to May and Winter. The pair picked up on it because they’re secretly super attentive and sweet. “We’re not hunting dogs, it works on a subconscious level and we don’t really notice it.” Fiona said. She was dancing around the subject a little because her nose was a little more sensitive than the average Faunus. Everyone had their own unique scent. Winter smelled of cool fresh air, like fresh dawn and a new beginning. May smelled of flowers, so soft it wrapped and cuddle Fiona from the inside.  
Robyn and Joanna smelled like the forest of Mistral. Deep and rich, the kind of ground you could really set roots in and grace with flowers. Every bit of them was different parts of a home Fiona would like some day. No wonder Glade snuck in earlier.  
Robyn and Joanna raised a brow. The slight movement helping Fiona realize she was quiet a little too long, “People just smell nice,” Fiona blurted out with a blush. “Familiar smells are calming while strangers are…”  
“Upsetting?” Robyn asked.  
“Kinda? It’s why May cuddles me when we need to sleep in hotels.”  
“And why they practically dragged you into Robyn’s room last night,” Joanna said with chuckled, “That’s adorable.” The three students blushed softly.  
The little lamb grumbled and shifted in her seat. Fiona didn’t tell them it was a sign of trust and acceptance in Faunus culture. So when they dropped off the clothes at the clinic and the Thief- Glade, walked into the clinic’s staff lounge with the scarf wrapped around their neck, Fiona smiled brightly, ears wiggling happily.  
They chose the grunge outfit her elites bought, subtly turtling into the scarf as they tucked their wavy pale green hair into beanie… Keeping their eyes closed until they slipped on the dark reflective shades. Was their Faunus trait their eyes? Where they nocturnal or did they have non-human eyes?  
“Thanks,” The Thief. said with a soft smile.  
“Yeah, of course,” May tried to act like Winter, stoic and aloof. It was an adorable failure that had Fiona and her group of mismatched friends snickering. She grumbled at the mismatch group and looked focused on Dr. Pietro, “Are you attending the Schnee recital tonight?”  
“Perhaps, Young Glade here has offered to help me finish my work but I will definitely attending Silvio’s birthday later this week,” Dr. Pietro said with a smile while the Thief frowned a little.  
“Glade? What am I a stray dog?”  
“We even got you a collar,” May taunted, pulling at collar of their flannel shirt. Glade only scoffed and quickly retreated back into the clinic, favoring one side over the other. Everyone noticed and gave Dr. Pietro a worried look.  
“A broken leg that never healed right. Completely unrelated to what happened this morning.” Dr. Pietro said. " We had a close call with Ms. Goodwitch and Silvio earlier but they’ll be safe. If they stay here," He stressed the last bit loudly and pointedly.  
“I promise I’ll keep you all out of trouble,” Glade yelled somewhere in the clinic.  
“Not reassuring!” Fiona yelled back as they left. She took a few dancing steps in front of the group, smiling up at her friends, “So we ready to head back to Atlas?”  
“Let’s see… Glade? Treated and recovering. Window. Fixed. Weapons?” Robyn asked.  
“Check!” Fiona smile with a flick of her wrist, a switchblade was suddenly in her hands and flicked open. The others seemed to falter a little, a quick blush appearing on everyones face and Robyn looking particularly… bothered. Fiona only brightly smiled at her until Winter cleared her throat.  
“Atlesian lesson 101?” The Schnee asked next.  
“They’re bitches,” May and Robyn answered at the same time. Fiona giggled as Winter lightly glared at them both. “Public opinion is everything,” Robyn answered. “And 102, deliver what they think they want.”  
What the Atlesians wanted from Robyn wasn’t far from who she actually was.  
Joanna cleared her throat, “An average civilian, rising to the occasion to save a brilliant mind during a sudden attack on Mantle, the charismatic hero who always gets the girl in the end,” she narrated the hard-light poster dramatically before throwing her head back and laughing.  
Thank god Winter had the foresight to drag them to Schnee Manor before the actual recital started. The only people around were servers, security, and fiends. It gave time for the Mantle Rats to get used to the environment, to the disgusting show of wealth. They had space for real trees in the city. Gated behind a wall with security cameras pointing out in every direction. Marble, chrome, rich dark oaks constructed the building and hard-light lamps advertised the Schnee emblem and tied it all with a soft blue glow.  
Then there was the hijacked hard-light poster.  
It was suppose to be displaying the poster May showed them earlier today, Weiss sinking on stage. Instead it was Robyn. Valiantly fighting Grimm in the foreground, fending off those creepy long fingers and giving Fiona time to grab Silvio as the ground erupted beneath them. Fiona tilted her head.  
It looked like a movie still.  
A very hot one Fiona would probably take for herself later but it didn’t feel right. “Is this what people see when they watch Huntsmen and Huntresses fight?” She asked softly. “Just action and adventure? Not, y’know… helping people?”  
“It always seems like saving people is the ultimate form of help. It gets rather tiresome.”  
The group turned around to see Goodwitch approaching. Her usual wear was formal enough, a lot more than the group’s casual suits and dresses. Robyn’s tie was purposely loose the top two buttons left open for that perfectly clean your-not-important-enough-for-me-to-care persona the group decided on. Just thinking about it made Fiona’s hand twitched. She wanted to pull at it for a while now. She enjoyed Robyn’s shock and flustered face and that tie… Robyn’s her teammate, not a casual fuck.  
Fiona took a slow breath and looked back up at Goodwitch who eye did bounce between the gold bird pin everyone wore on their body.  
“I’d like to formally apologize on Qrow’s behalf,” Goodwitch said a bit reluctantly. “Though I do not apologize for his absence. He’ll probably just puke all over the floor or hassle the servers.”  
"If you want to apologize stop bringing up that drunk," May said, her arm leaving the small dip of WInter’s back. Winter tried to stay relax but was glaring hard up at the Vale huntress.  
Goodwitch smile, “Best idea all day. Worse being people sneaking Grimm into the city,” She finished looking at Robyn and Fiona. The words made Fiona’s heartbeat leap into her throat. There… that was one explanation. The only reasonable. May did say something about a greater plan. Glade was the only one that acted- No. Fiona looked at Robyn, Glade was the only one that had the skill and resources to act. “James has told me you’ve looked into previous cases, Detective Hill?”  
Detect… Detective?! Fiona tried not to sputter at the title. She tried to relax her ears, stop them from sticking straight out from the sides of her head. Joanna chuckled softly beside her and ruffled her hear, unfreezing her muscles.  
“Fighting rings have started to bring in small non-Atlas Grimm to spice things up,” Robyn said. Fiona pulled her head out of the gutter, trying to focus on the conversation. Joanna set a hand on her partner’s shoulder, calming her down enough to continue civilly. “We’ve been trying to get the military involved for months.”  
“Do you think these events are related?” Goodwitch asked.  
“We put a dent in the major rings so I hope not,” Joanna whispered. “If Atlas gangs figure out how to turn Grimm into weapons…” Fiona didn’t want to think about those Imps agains.  
“We’re already seeing some bandit tribes in Anima use similar tactics,” Goodwitch informed. One reason why Atlas was so crowded and industrialized was that Solitas made living outside of proper settlements difficult. Normal citizens without a protective Aura can’t even leave the kingdom without expensive equipment. “Extort them for protection by leading the Grimm to them and leave them once the main horde arrives.”  
“They can’t all be connect,” Robyn said firmly shaking her head. “Twisted mines follow the same path every now and then.”  
Goodwitch stared at the group for a long while, then smiled sadly, “I don’t suppose I can steal you from Atlas, can I?” Goodwitch asked.  
“She’s mine,” Fiona blurted out, heart skipping a few beats as panic filled her for a second. She was so close to making things up to Winter and May. Just one last thing before they all continue with their training and studies, two years until they graduation. Robyn nudged her out of it a playful smirk comforting the little lamb. “She’s my partner for our combative final.”  
“Ridiculous,” Goodwitch said with a deep scowl, “With how you all fought, I’ll see ensure James pass the three of you and accept you two into the Academy,” She looked at the students then at the detectives. The group blinked stunned until Goodwitch raised a brow.  
“Thank you… ma’am,” Winter said softly. Even her eyes were wide.  
Goodwitch only nodded. She turned on those high heels and practically marched away, “I look forward to working with you ladies again.”  
“As long as that creepy as bird doesn’t break my shit!” Robyn called out after her. Robyn was practically bouncing, a large smile on her face as grabbed Joanna’s hands and practically bounced, “Heard that Joan! We’re Atlas students-”  
“Your an Atlas student.” Joanna said pulling her hands free and pushing them firm on Robyn’s shoulders to stop her small bounce. " We don’t have the money for both of us to attend."  
Fiona winced in sympathy, “I’m on almost five scholarships and it’s… not easy,” Fiona said softly. She needed to write essay’s attend tournaments, her workload was nearly tripped the average student’s. Another reason why she was so desperate to stay with Winter and May, another team would just hold her back. “I’m lucky i got teamed up with a perfectionist and a competitive idiot.” She nodded to Winter and May, both avoiding their gaze with an uncomfortable look. This wasn’t a conversation her elites usually hear.  
Robyn scowled, gritting her teeth. Joanna smiled and patted her head like a she was pouting puppy, “We’ll figure something out Rob… Today is still our day off, right?” She looked at May who nodded.  
“Would you two like a small tour of the manor?” Winter ask, already leading the group out of the foyer. They headed to the kitchen first, trying to walk past all the giant paintings of her family but Robyn stopped at the giant portrait. Winter tried to encourage the group to walk past but Joanna eyed the giant suit of armor and sword next to it. “My grandfather, Nicolas Schnee.”  
“I read about him,” Joanna said, “When Robyn first suggested we go to Atlas Academy I laughed at her.”  
“Yeah, I was so hurt I almost kicked you out,” Robyn mumbled. She turned towards Winter, “But you three know why we want to become Huntresses now.”  
Fiona looked at Winter who pressed her lips tight. She only turned and walked deeper into the manor, forcing the group to follow. May didn’t leave her side, pressing into her shoulder every time a server passed with a tray of empty wine glasses. Their hands brushed every so often but neither of them made a move to hold on.  
It was obvious why May joined. Winter was hung up on the fact that they only met their new friends yesterday.  
“Same as you but a little different,” Fiona said, wiggling her ears for effect. “To help everyone, Mantle is just the start-” Suddenly hear ears perked up, flicking in the direction of the private area of the manor. It sounded like glass breaking.  
“Damn it…” May mumbled. This time her hand finally slid into Winter’s, “I’ll check, you stay.”  
“No.” Winter said, voice brittle and body so taunt it was ready to snap. Fiona hung back, letting May try and calm her not-girlfriend teammate. She also stopped Robyn from springing into action.  
May stepped close, their heads leaned together to whisper as soft as possible. Fiona tried to ignore it but it was impossible with how quiet the hallways were. “You come, they come.” May said. Then her voice soften, “Please… Don’t put this all on me, Win.”  
Winter blinked. Blue eyes shinning and cracking. Fiona would never say tears were in her eyes. After another squeeze Winter finally relaxed and let go of May’s hand. “Alright… Let’s go-”  
“Stop! Please!” Silvio’s voice broke through the thick walls.  
Immediately the group broke into a sprint. Winter was the fastest and Fiona was trailing behind her after absorbing her heels. A Glyph light the hallway. Before Fiona could stop her, a Beowolf roared, crawling out of it and slashing the door opened. She could hear two kids scream and another glass breaking.  
Fiona only had a moment to take in the scene before the two kids ran towards them. Three adults and thanks to Fiona’s sensitive nose she could smell some alcohol on all their breaths. Weiss was in Winter’s arms in seconds and once Silvio stumbled out of Author Watt’s slacken grip, he was behind May.  
“Let’s go.” May shoved Winter out of the room. She fought it, eyes on her mother and father. The Beowolf slowly growling.  
“Please,” Weiss whispered. That finally broke Winter’s furious trance. She stepped back but left her Beowolf growling viciously it made Fiona’s ears twitch painfully low.  
May lead them back to kitchens, Fiona could tell by the delicious smell and the clanking pots. It was the only life in the manor, the staff singing loudly and enjoying their work until the rich snobs came in and they’d have to act pleasant. When the group came in they immediately froze, nervous. They took one look at the kids and quieted down. The singing wasn’t as loud but still lively and cheerful.  
Fiona watched some energy and return to the kids, a small weight lifting off their shoulders as Klein quickly appeared. His light brown eyes shifted from them to Winter, “Oh dear… what happened now-”  
“Nothing.” Weiss said softly.  
“Nothing new,” Silvio said with a scoff. He sat at the table, taking a dessert and stuffing it in his face before retreating into his Scroll. Klein sighed and replaced it with a fresh treat from the counter.  
Fiona looked at Winter and May who gave her a gentle pleading look. The little lamb grabbed both Joanna and Robyn’s hands, leading them out of the kitchen. “Come on, their garden has real flowers in them,” Fiona said, trying to sound cheerful for the sake of the kids. Weiss didn’t smile and Silvio didn’t look up from his Scroll.  
No one wanted to speak until they got the garden. Even then the heavy silence lingered, growing heavier as the trio watched the sunset on a bench. Finally Joanna sigh let out a loud sigh, leaning heavily into Fiona and pushing her into Robyn who easily bore the additional weight of two people.  
“Maybe we should take Goodwitch’s offer and go to Vale?” Joanna mused softly. “It’d be cheaper too. Warmer. Friendlier.”  
“But they don’t need us,” Fiona said softly.  
Robyn came back to reality. Fiona and Joanna had to right themselves as she leaned forward and rubbed her face. “That is so messed up… Not even the rich has it easy in this fucking kingdom,” She was trembling. Voice on the verge of breaking and so damn angry. When Fiona tried bending down Robyn harshly turned away.  
“I can smell you crying… sensitive nose remember?” Fiona whispered. She moved, taking Robyn’s other side so her and Joanna could sandwich Robyn in. Her hand hesitated, hovering above Robyn’s knee. Just as she was about to pull back Robyn uncurled and grabbed her hand. She held onto tightly as she leaned her head on Joanna’s shoulder and whipped away the tears with her other hand. “Now you know why they’re so protective of me… And why Winter wants to become a huntress.” Fiona said softly, rubbing comforting circles on Robyn’s skin with her thumb.  
“What’s good is being an officer if I can’t even arrest a drunk huntsmen, let alone those three,” Joanna growled. She took a deep breath. Her arm was long enough to rest heavily on Robyn and Fiona’s shoulder. It was like a loose hold, so Fiona snuggled into both of them. For a long moment they all just sat there, letting their brains turn off.  
Winter was the first to find them with a tray of food and drinks. She looked guilty but smiled seeing Fiona’s and Robyn’s hand tightly intertwine. Fiona haded how soft Winter’s voice came out, “I’m… I’m sorry you three had to see that.” She said. Fiona got up, passing the tray to Robyn and wrapping her arms tight around Winter.  
“I’m sorry we can’t do anything they deserve,” Joanna said back. The three Mantle Rats invited Winter to sit with them on the bench but Winter politely refused, withdrawing a little instead. But she was here… and May asked her not to put it all on her anymore.  
Fiona extruded a picnic blanket for them to sit on. Joanna and Robyn looked comfortable on the bench looked relaxed stretched out on the ground. After some thought, Robyn dropped her head onto Fiona’s lap. The little lamb smiled down at her, both enjoying and needing a sense of touch. Fiona selfishly let her heart beat faster, eyes wandering to Robyn lips and eyes as she played with the platinum strands of hair.  
The cowardly part of Fiona wished Robyn didn’t relax the way she did, closing her eyes and humming softly in approval. At same time she’d hope to see it more. No wonder her two elite always got grumpy whenever their morning routine was interrupted.  
“We’ve dealt with families with… similar situation,” Robyn explained, slowly turning her brain back on. “I can recommend some good therapist for your sister. Silvio too.”  
“That’d… that’d be much appreciated. You’d have to talk to May about Silvio, she’s already helping him with… other things.” Winter said softly. She hide half her face behind a drink, her eyes meeting Fiona’s for a moment then down to Robyn and Joanna. “Thank you,” She whispered into her drink.  
“Don’t thank me yet,” Robyn said with a small smile. She rolled onto her stomach and Fiona missed the warmth of her scalp and softness of her hair. “One more thing. Just pin May to the wall and fuck her already.” Winter blushed hard, coughing softly and trying to clear her throat. Joanna patted her back while Fiona giggled.  
“I… I can’t-”  
"Can’t? You practically fucking her through me," Robyn continued to press. Winter blushed harder, completely off balance and embarrassed by the topic. It was rare a sight, one that only May pulls off on a good day so Fiona jumped in.  
“Technically, I was fucking you,” Fiona corrected, lightly flicking Robyn’s nose. “Because Winter’s too sweet on May to actually fuck another person,” She leaned forward and grinning at the Schnee. Winter tried to get Fiona to submit with a hard look. When Fiona started wiggling her brows a little Winter was forced to set her drink down or risk spilling it all over their semi-formal clothes. She barely remembered they were here for an Atlesian party.  
“I don’t know if I should be upset that you two noticed before May did,” Winter grumbled softly. “But I didn’t think she liked me back until this morning.”  
Fiona tapped her chin thinking back on their years together. “Honestly… I didn’t either. You? You were so obvious! The morning routines with the hair, how protective you were over her!” The pair might have edged each other to the extremes but that also meant they were always softer and much more relaxed when together.  
“I have been hinting at it when since we were young,” Winter confessed. All the Mantle rats flinched. Joanna ran a hand through her hair, messing up the gel the Marigold styled it with.  
“Well of course May don’t realize it!” Joanna said with an annoyed sigh. “You’ve been giving her mix signals-”  
"How was this morning mixed signals?!" Winter hissed with a deepening blush.  
“Just tell her,” Robyn said waving her hand.  
“Tell who what?” May asked rounding the corner of bushes with another tray of food. “Klein wanted to make Fiona’s favorite since we haven’t snuck back in awhile.”  
“Yes!” Fiona cheered taking the tray of fruits and sweets, strawberries covered in chocolates to fluffy cream stuffed puff. After throwing one in her mouth she teasingly dangled one in front of Robyn’s face. The women rolled her eyes, taking a bite of the strawberry and watching as Fiona finished it off.  
May sneered, “Glad I haven’t missed much.”  
“They’re trying to convince me to tell you about my undying love for you,” Winter said, in her default tightly controlled and dry tone. Before anyone could act surprised May threw her head back and laughed so hard her face went a little red.  
“Yeah! Do it after Weiss’ performance.” May said with a bratty cute grin. Fiona tensed, a smile plastered to her face as she tried not to scream. Damn it May! “Announce our engagement so your father and my cousin can die of a heart attack!” She bent down, taking Winter’s hands and gently pulling her up, “Come on! Show’s starting soon and Silvio wouldn’t shut up about us grabbing front row seats.”  
Within a few minutes the the theater was full and the lights dimmed to darkness. Fiona looked around. Her eyes spotting most of the military in the booths above the crowd. Goodwitch sitting irritably next to General Ironwood. Across from them senior Clover Ebi was sitting next to the freshmen Marrow. The other Faunus was busy looking around the theater too, a determine look on his face.  
“There’s a lot of Atlas students here…” Fiona whispered a little uneasily.  
“We do have two Atlesian scientist and the one visiting from Vale with his family,” Robyn said. Fiona looked back up the balconies. Sure enough she spotted the Vale scientist with his Faunus wife and daughter.  
Unfortunately due to May and Robyn’s hassling each other, they didn’t get center seats, but from this angle Fiona was able to see just behind the curtains. At the side of the stage was a hooded figure in robs… Weiss next to them with Silvio a little ways off. Fiona strained her ears but it was too far.  
The hooded not-Schnee figure took the center of the stage and from his Scroll Silvo activated the music. A slow piano piece fitting for the rich audience. Slowly the stage lights turned on, letting Fiona’s sensitive eyes adjust while gradually getting brighter for the humans to see, piano growing louder, picking up tempo.  
“You are an ocean of waves, weaving a dream like thoughts, become a river stream,” the mysterious stranger sang. Her voice was lower than Weiss. A shock mummer spread across the crowd but the opening act wasn’t phased even as Fiona watched the military in the booths grow a little tense. They only relaxed when they realized another voice would join occasionally, Weiss standing beside Silvio, harmonizing into her mic. “Yet may the tide every change, flowing like time to the path, yours to climb.”  
Fiona turned back to the stage, ears flinching a little whenever the music was too high for her sensitive ears. Whoever the mysterious singer was, she knew how to entertain walking the stage, posing and gesturing to the audience until the easily swayed like Marrow was at the edge of his seat and the reserved ones like Vine was absolutely enthralled. Robyn looked amazed, beautiful lavender eyes wide.  
“Thou seek the light with an outstretched hand,” Slowly the opening act’s voice faded. Weiss’ voice growing louder but she hadn’t walked on stage yet, “A divine blade lies before you so command the wake of dreams, to restore the world, cut 'way the seams,”  
Then the tempo picked up yet again, a drum encouraging Fiona’s heart into a powerful and steady beat. The mysterious singer reached out the audience, “Join in our prayer, in our song of birthrights and love,” She sang loudly. Weiss’ voice slowly appeared again, matching harmonizing so perfectly it had Fiona’s ears shuttering in pleasure, “Come the sun, illuminate the sky. Pray that we may quell the dark. Light take the throne. Lost in thoughts, all alone.”  
Then the lights dimmed, the music slowed to pause. Fiona heard Robyn and Joanna catch their breath next to her. Fiona saw the mysterious singer rush to the side, encouraging Weiss onto the stage. She vigorously shook her head for a moment until Silvio whispered his own words of encouragement, gesturing to where Winter was sitting.  
With a huff and a stomp she rushed to her position, the opening act helping her on the left and then rushed to their own position on the right side. It was then she noticed the slight shaking in her hands. As Silvio increased the lighting, Fiona could see the redness in her eyes she missed before.  
Poor kid. Still having to preform after the bullshit three adults put her through. Fiona heard Robyn gasp softly, “This is all improved…” she muttered.  
The verse repeated but this time the music didn’t slow. The drums became louder, drums and violins filling Fiona with a rush as she listened to every word, “Thou seek the dark with an un-sheathed blade,” Weiss’ voice was beautiful, it sent chills down her spine and the haunting familiarity of her assistant pulled everyone in like it was story, “Now a white ivory throne beckons so obtain the fate you sow on this path be wary friend and foe.”  
The way they moved on stage, circling each other or stepping close and matching their steps was almost poetic. “May thy chosen path lead way, and grace you with virtue but surely balance awaits,” Slowly Weiss took the lead, the opening act smiling as Weiss’ hands stopped shaking. She looked directly at her sister in the front row, “So be it bliss or pain you gain beyond the route-way’s end. You’ll gain resilience and weakness. The trials, the thorn in your side becomes the greatest strength, in you.”  
The song was a message to her sister, Fiona realized with a happy smile. She looked at the older Schnee. Winter looked proud. She reached over to her partner, grabbing her hand giving it a thankful squeeze. Fiona glanced at Robyn her own hand feeling stupidly empty. Until she notice Silvio and the hooded singer nodding at each other.  
“Descend into the abyss thou see- Hey!” Weiss screamed as she was suddenly shoved into the orchestra pit. One of the musicians threw their instrument aside to catch her. The crowd gasped, all the military huntsmen and students shocked in their seats. The music changed, suddenly blaring through the speakers but the volume wasn’t enough to make Fiona flinch.  
“The future is bulletproof the after is secondary!” The opening act sang. Finally the hooded opening act ripped off their hood. Fiona’s mouth hung open as a familiar helmet and gold horns standing on stage. I promise I’ll keep you all out of trouble, Glade said before they left Mantle. “It’s time to do it now and do it loud!”  
“Are you serious!?” May screamed in the theater. Fiona looked at her elites. May was almost pulling her hair out and Winter jumped into the orchestra pit to check on her sister. Glade grinned, hard-light ears taking shape and floating above their helmet.  
They pointed at May, “Kill joys! Make some noise!”  
“Your fucking dead-”  
“Na, na, na, na, na!” Glade stomped their feet in time with the rock music. Fiona barely pushed May back into her seat as the military moved in. Thankfully it was the students first. Vine swinging in with his semblance and Elm’s massive thighs launched her off the balcony and towards the stage. But Glade only smiled, never missing a beat, “Drugs, gimme drugs, gimme drugs, I don’t need it but I’ll sell what you got,” The pair was only able to make an entrance. The Dust in Glade’s clothes glowed a bright purple. A low warping sound ran deep in the room. Vine gasp a sudden weight pulling him down with Elm. It was enough force for the pair to crash through the stage.  
The crowd sneered and laughed. “Bring what Rat in and they all come,” Someone said behind them. Fiona was pretty sure it was May’s cousin but she wasn’t about to ask the Marigold to check. Fiona only kept watching. Winter had snuck Weiss back behind the curtain and was now glaring at Silvio. It looked like she was trying to lecture them but the kids were smiling, busy watching Marrow clumsily climb onto the stage while Harriet appeared with a trail of lightning behind her.  
Fiona laughed at the nervous looking boy, “Come on Marrow!” She cheered. Glade has yet to attack anything sentient and alive so he won’t get his ass beat but humiliation can be just as painful.  
“You’re looking good for someone who almost died this morning,” Harriet taunted.  
Glade only smirked, “But I’ll take what I want form your heart and I’ll keep it in a bag, in a box, put an X on the floor!” They continued to sing. Glade bounced around, light on their feet and motioned for the pair to come at them, “Gimme more, gimme more, gimme more! Shut up and Sing it with me!”  
“Marrow…” Harriet ordered the kid.  
Marrow took a deep breath, tail straightening as he concentrated, "Stay!" He hasn’t perfected his semblance yet but Glade’s singing paused, body moving slowly but still moving.  
Harriet grinned cracking her knuckles before running forward. Just as she was about to reach them, the gravity Dust glowed bright. Harriet lost her footing but the momentum continued until she crashed into the wall. The audience laughed even harder. Robyn and Joanna roaring next to her.  
The poor freshmen couldn’t hold his semblance and dropped it, panting heavily. Just as Clover was about to step onto the stage the lights shut off. Glade reach over, throwing Clover at Marrow. With a sharp whistle a wall of ice rose up, blocking all of Ironwood’s favorite students on stage. Glade ran to the side, grabbing the blind Schnees and Watt and running out of the theater. Before they disappeared they gave Fiona a pointed look.  
The little lamb grabbed everyone and ran to the nearest side door. Klein gasped, semblance activating with a small scared sneeze and red eyes was looking at them. “Good, good, I was worried ya’ lot wouldn’t catch on,” Klein smirked, voice gruff and a little aggressive. Fiona giggled, she always like this one the best. “You… I can’t believe you’re in on this too!”  
“Don’t blame me lil’ miss,” Klein scowled and growled back up at May, “Originally we were just gonna turn off the lights and sneak Weiss out, but the lil cunt made a friend and well…” Klein gestured to the theater and the loud shouts and yells. Ironwood was demanding the lights be turned back on and the crowd was starting to panic a little, “Best get ya’ out of here, eh? Rides out back, hurry on, now.”  
Fiona new the manor well enough to get the group there. Robyn tried to stop laughing. It was a good thing Fiona was still holding her hand because she was sure Robyn would have been several halls behind them. There were other security guards around but they would see a server accidentally stumble into them or slow down the cart of food or equipment.  
“I’m glad Weiss is still being look after.” May muttered softly under her breath. That finally got Robyn to stop laughing a sobering smile aimed at her elite.  
A chauffeur waited patiently with the door opened for them. Winter didn’t jump, only gave them a small smile while the kids giggled to themselves. May was the only one still furious, “Where’s Glade?”  
“They ran off while I was lecturing Weiss and Silvio,” Winter explain. “Said something about, 'How they weren’t paid enough for that,” She finished looking pointedly at the young adopted Watts. “How long have you two been planning this?”  
“Sneaking out in the middle of the performance…” Weiss blushed and looked away. “A few… weeks?”  
“It was suppose to be during my party but… then… fuck my uncle,” Silvio huffed. The mood died a little but Silvio was still grinning. “It was so worth it.”  
“You two should have told me,” Winter said.  
“You should come around more often- Ow!” Silvio winced as both May and Weiss punched him.  
Winter took it in stride. She closed her eyes, as if concentrating to break the aloof and cool facade. She smiled, gently and earnestly leaning towards her sister and the young genius, “I guess you two will need to fill me. How exactly did two brilliant kids made a fool of the military? Hm?” They both grinned up at her.  
May acted like a grump rolling her eyes but leaning heavily into her partner side. Fiona grinned at the scene, ears fluttering happily. Robyn sneered and chuckled, fingers playing with the tips of her ears while Joanna had an arm slung around both their shoulders again.  
Fiona hadn’t realized she didn’t let go of Robyn’s hand until she was swinging their joined hands in the elevator. May set the kids up in another suite, talking a little more with the kids. Fiona and Robyn naturally gravitated to the balcony while Winter and Joanna collapsed onto the king sized bed with a deep sigh.  
“What a day…”  
“I’ll say. Fighting Grimm, sex in the changing room, a picnic and a show,” Joanna teased. The trio blushed hard and Robyn still made no move to pull their hands apart. This time she caught the women glancing at her lips. Fiona tighten her grip, fighting the urge to pull at the loose tie.  
“I’m going to live variously through you two again.” Winter said. Fiona nearly jumped and the pair looked at Winter, lounging like a cat next to a bear that was Joanna. The Schnee looked pointedly at their hands, “Just make out already.”  
“Yes, ma’am,” Robyn whispered, voice husky and slow. It sent a shiver down Fiona’s spine and she realized the women was quiet for awhile now. Fiona could almost feel just how long Robyn was holding herself back. At first the kiss was desperate and almost vicious. Fiona gasp softly when Robyn bit her lip and her tongue danced against hers. Both of Fiona’s hands was held in Robyn’s against the railing, as if this is how she wanted to take Fiona during their two rounds this morning.  
With a dazed heart Fiona followed whatever mood Robyn wanted to give. Meeting her energy as best as possible. The frenzy kiss slowed to a passionate one. Finally Robyn let her hands go and Fiona let them wrap around her neck. The kiss might have slowed but it didn’t die. Fiona only felt the warmth in her chest spread, the cold metal of the rail worth the feeling of Robyn pressed against her.  
“There’s no way you’d kiss May like that,” Joanna mumbled next to Winter. “It’d be a lot more sweet and chaste.”  
“Shut up,” Winter mumbled softly. Robyn and Fiona broke apart giggling at their banter and at each other. Fiona swallowed trying not to think too much about how she wanted to keep those lavender eyes for longer than their academic years. How Robyn’s sweetness reminded her for her elites or how that Mantle attitude reminded Fiona that she wasn’t alone in their fight.  
She didn’t want to fall but Robyn and the others were making it tempting.  
Robyn leaned in again but not for a kiss, her nose nuzzled Fiona’s cheek trying to push her head to the right but Fiona fought it for a second and took a deep breath. Lavender and a fresh spring fields filled her nose, clouding her mind in a happy daze and settling her heart into a slow dancing rhythm. When Fiona finally opened her eyes she saw May on the balcony next to them. Face red and gold eyes wide.  
“I want to do it right because…” Winter’s soft words floated through the open air. Robyn and Fiona giggled, watching May blush so hard it must have been painful but the smile on her face didn’t make her worry. Instead Fiona pulled gently pulled on that loose tie around Robyn’s neck and pull her down for a kiss.  
This kiss was slowest yet. A practiced and gentle dance as Winter continued to speak, “Because I’ve loved her since I can remember.”

Throne of Eldraine Commander Set Review
For each new set, I write an article discussing the new legendary creatures and the nonlegendary cards that I think will be relevant in Commander.

He’s a more interesting political commander than most existing options because he has so many tools to work with. Notably, the last ability goes infinite with a Composite Golem and any one of the following effects:
Something that triggers when an artifact or creature enters the battlefield
Something that triggers when an artifact or creature is put into the graveyard
Something that reduces the cost of activated abilities

In terms of tech, there’s Well of Lost Dreams, Dawn of Hope, Angelic Accord, and Resplendent Angel. But that’s about it, and if you don’t draw those four cards, you’re left with a commander that gives you a small boost in the least important resource in a color that can’t use that resource for anything.
While it’s not great as a commander, it’s probably good in the maindeck of Karlov decks.

This seems quite bad. In contrast, Pianna, Nomad Captain does basically the same thing for two mana cheaper.

This is a very neat self-mill combo commander. The absolute best pieces of tech for the deck are Mirran Spy and Chakram Retriever, which allow you to cast as many artifacts as you have the mana for. If your deck is full of 0-mana artifacts and cards like Sol Ring and Mana Crypt that net mana when you cast them, you can really combo off with Emry.

The rest of the deck is mostly tutors and self-mill cards to help you assemble your combos and counterspells to help you protect it.

He’s a better outlet for infinite mana than Ambassador Laquatus and he synergizes extremely well with Verity Circle. Unfortunately, I’m not seeing great uses for those guy aside from those two possibilities. Not being able to tap your own stuff means you can’t abuse Winter Orb/Static Orb (or even fun/fair stuff like the untap symbol or inspired) and having such a restrictive color identity prevents you from doing cool stuff like running Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Spreading Algae.
High Tide and blue’s untap spells (e.g., Frantic Search, Time Spiral) are also good non-infinite ways to generate tons of mana for your commander.

I am not super stoked about this card. While it could potentially have 7 or more power, that’s not an insane rate for 5 mana and it’s lacking the evasion, haste, and effective protection against removal needed to make it a good Voltron commander.

Thornbite Staff turns this into an unrestricted card draw engine, and she combos with Phyrexian Altar + Gravecrawler + any zombie to cause infinite life loss for your opponents.

Not only does it provide a discard outlet for the 8ish decent madness cards in monoblack, but you can usually get a free discard by dumping Bloodghast, Reassembling Skeleton, Gutterbones, Bloodsoaked Champion, etc. before you start recurring them to pay for the sacrifice ability.
It’s also worth noting that there are some fantastic death triggers in monoblack; Mindslicer and Corpse Augur are some standouts.

Shared Trauma, Dread Summons, and Mesmeric Orb are good ways to mill your opponents in monoblack, and Heartstone will greatly increase the efficiency of his activated ability. You can also try farming the ability with powerful discard effects like Mindslicer, Capital Punishment, Cabal Conditioning, and Myojin of Night’s Reach, and Black’s efficient removal will also help you get triggers.
I’ve also seen takes on this deck that combine the activated ability with Lantern of Insight to set up a soft lock where you prevent your opponents from drawing anything relevant.

With Syr Carah, the name of the game is cheap spells that hit multiple opponents. Fortunately, Red has a ton of these that are relatively cheap and so Carah makes it so you can draw a ton of cards for relatively little mana (spending 2 to draw 4 is a pretty common occurrence). If some of those cards net mana (e.g., rituals, moxes), then you can keep the combo going.

Aside from boosting your creatures’ damage output, he also combines extremely well with Group Slug effects like Manabarbs and Spellshock; in fact, he’s probably the best Group Slug commander of all time.

Bubble Matrix and Fog effects make it so that your creatures can’t take damage in combat but they can still dish it out.
You can also run Viridian Longbow and Thornbite Staff to make use of this guy’s deathtouch. Other than that, there’s not a whole lot of direction to build around this guy; bog standard Voltron package, I guess.

I wish this card had more power. +2/+2 is nothing and while I can think of creatures that could use a buff effectively (Infect creatures), I feel like I need to buff Syr Faren in order to buff them more. If that’s the case, why am I even using Syr Faren? Why not just buff the creatures directly and cut out the middleman?

You can get a bunch of counters with cards like Deranged Hermit, Deep Forest Hermit, etc, but 5 mana for 5 power isn’t even that great compared to some of the better auras and equipment.
Also, give that Yorvo’s reward is making himself bigger, the only way to build around him is Voltron; which he’s not well suited for. His base stats are a 4/4 for 3, which isn’t insane, and he doesn’t have haste, evasion, or resistance to removal.
Although I don’t like him as a commander, he could be good in the maindeck of Ghave decks.

This guy combos really well with sac outlets and creatures with persist, offering you infinite of whatever your sac outlet generates. Unfortunately, there’s only about 6 unrestricted sac outlets and 6 persist creatures in these colors, which is far from enough stuff to fill out a deck, so there’s a lot of room for token generators, proliferate effects, interaction, and a generally more straightforward aggressive game plan.

I tried building Alela a few ways before I settled on a build I liked. Initially, I tried running a bunch of cheap (3 CMC or less) anthem effects, because they were essentially “lords” when they came with a 2/1 Faerie attached. The issue with this build was that there wasn’t much card flow, and although I often ended up with a huge scary board, I didn’t have many cards in hand and I was very vulnerable to board wipes.
The second build I tried used a ton of 2-cost artifacts and enchantments that drew a card when they entered the battlefield; essentially, my deck was full of flying Silvergill Adepts. This has been working pretty well, as I can commit a bunch of dudes to the board while maintaining a respectable hand so I can rebuild if something goes wrong.
In addition to my card-drawing eggs and Auras, I’m also running the most efficient anthem effects in these colors, such as Favorable Winds, Shared Triumph, Intangible Virtue, and Konda’s Banner.
Combat damage triggers are pretty good when you have a bunch of flyers, so I’m running Coastal Piracy, Bident of Thassa, Larceny, and Kindred Discovery.
There are a few sac outlets that are powerful enough to justify diverting a few Faeries away from the beatdown, such as Attrition, Mind Slash, and Skullclamp.

This guy is a powerful combo commander centered around chaining cheap creatures together. He has very strong synergy with effects that subsidize or eliminate the cost of cheap creatures, such as Earthcraft, Aluren, and Tangleroot and he loves self-bouncing creatures like Shrieking Drake.

Works well with fetchlands, so a good Korvold build will likely have a solid land package. That being said, the heart of this deck is creature sacrifice, and this color identity has some great sac fodder in the form of token generation and self-recurring creatures, as well as some of the best sac outlets in the format. He also works well with creatures that really, really want to die, like Protean Hulk, Mindslicer, Seedguide Ash, and World Shaper.

I think Syr Gwyn is worth comparing to Kestia, the Cultivator. Both of them reward you when you attack with a narrow subset of cards. The main differences are that Kestia is significantly cheaper, is in a better color identity, and the things that trigger Kestia only require the commitment of a single card, whereas Syr Gwyn (generally) needs you to commit both a creature card and an equipment card to assemble a card-generating unit.
There are some exceptions to this rule: Living Weapon equipment come with a creature attached, as do the two equipment from M20 with a similar ability. Bloodforged Battle-Axe copies itself so you don’t have to commit as many real equipment to the board.
While there are a few low-casting cost high-equip cost cards like Colossus Hammer and Blackblade Reforged that really reward you for committing to Knights, most of the best equipment costs 1-2 mana to equip. I’m not sure saving 1-2 mana is worth committing to the Knight creature type.
Instead, I’d probably run the cheap doublestrikers in these colors (many of which are, admittedly, Knights) and a bunch of cards that synergize with equipment (not just Stoneforge and Puresteel; I think I’d also run Kor Duelist). In general, I want the deck to function without Syn Gwyn on the battlefield, since she costs a bunch of mana and isn’t very resilient to spot removal. Slapping a Mask of Memory on a Fencing Ace seems like a solid plan A in case Gwyn can’t get it together.

The Maindeck Cards of Throne of Eldraine
In this set review, I’ll be using two five-point rating scales to evaluate the nonlegendary cards, one that measures how many decks a card is playable in (we’ll call that “spread”), and one that measures how powerful it is in those decks (”power”). Here’s a brief rundown of what each rank on the two scales means:
Spread
1: This card is effective in one or two decks, but no more (ex: The Gitrog Monster).
2: This card is effective in one deck archetype (ex: self-mill decks).
3: A lot of decks will be able to use this card effectively (ex: decks with graveyard interactions).
4: This card is effective in most decks in this color.
5: Every deck in this color is able to use this card effectively.
Power
1: This card is always going to be on the chopping block.
2: This card is unlikely to consistently perform well.
3: This card provides good utility but is not a powerhouse.
4: This card is good enough to push you ahead of your opponents.
5: This card has a huge impact on the game.

The -3 will never be bad, but spending six mana for this effect is not great. His 0 ability does synergize with sacrifice decks like Mazirek and Savra, but I’m still not sure he’s worth the price of entry in those lists.

Shutting down someone’s commander is a big game, and the potential to activate him multiple turns in a row makes this a very big threat for just three mana.

Given that it only works in a deck with a critical mass of Knights, I think this guy is relegated to Aryel and Syr Gwyn. It’s def good in those lists, though.

This costs one more mana to activate than I was hoping it would, but the opportunity cost to run it is basically nil, so I guess I can’t complain much. I think this is the narrowest of the five, though.
Notably, out of 23 cards in Magic that produce Human tokens, 9 are legal in Throne of Eldraine standard. This seems like too many to be a coincidence so this could mean that Human is now going to be the default white token type or we’ve got Human tribal coming up in the near future.

I’m not a huge fan of cards that require you to jump through multiple hoops, as they pull a deck in two different directions. In this case, there’s not a big overlap between the decks running lots of legendaries and the decks running lots of Knights. There are about 10 playable Knight legends that you can stuff into a Syr Gwyn deck, but that’s barely a critical mass so I don’t see you consistently getting many Knight tokens off of this. Decks like Kethis and Sisay can trigger this way more frequently, but they probably don’t care about the reward; it’s not like they were running Primeval Bounty.

Incredibly meta-dependent.
This is a super-powerful hoser for storm-y decks. The main problem with a silver bullet like this is that White doesn’t have many great ways to dig it out of your 100-card deck; you’ll need additional colors to help you find it. Like, side from Enlightened Tutor and Idyllic Tutor, how are you finding this early enough for it to save you?

The removal spell will find targets in an average game of Commander, but they’re not always going to be the most important creatures. If we ever got human tribal, I’d consider running this as a value dude similar to Big Game Hunter. Or Peasant Tribal, I guess.

It’s better than Tocatli Honor Guard in White hatebear lists, but it’s very meta-dependent. I think Green decks are going to be hit harder by the Torpor Orb effect and Black decks will be hit harder by the death trigger prevention.

If you’re running a deck with Black in its color identity and you could easily recur the creature half of this card, I’d seriously consider running this card, even if it’s one more mana relative to Wrath of God and Damnation; the potential for recursion is seriously that powerful.
And of course it’s really really good if your commander is a White Giant.

It’s unfortunate that there are no white commanders that grant haste (well, I guess there’s Odric), as Commander does not take too kindly to 6 mana cards that have to wait a round of turns to start generating value. However, as we noted when Aryel was released, there was an embarrassing shortage of playable Knight token generators, so this may see play in Knight tribal decks.

This type of card (land with expensive activated ability) is arguably better in Blue decks since you can hold counters up and activate it if your opponents don’t cast anything worth answering. As with all the other Castles, the opportunity cost to run this is extremely low in 1- and 2-color decks.

Wish effects currently don’t work under the official Commander rules; hence the ratings for this card.
However, it’s worth noting that Wizards has printed a wish effect in each of the last three Standard sets. These types of designs are clearly going to be a part of Magic going forward, and it doesn’t make sense that Commander’s rules don’t align with modern Magic design. You’ve probably heard me advocating for a rules change before, but I want to do more than theorycraft; I want some experience.
So, I’m planning on testing wishboards over the next few months to see what the pros/cons are and whether a rules change would be feasible or whether it would break the game. Now, I want to make a distinction: The wishboard will be used solely as a place for cards that I’ll search out with cards like Fae of Wishes; I’m not going to be testing a sideboard and I will not be switching cards between my sideboard and maindeck between games. I didn’t really want to test that because I think it will slow down games and sideboarding doesn’t matter that much unless your deck is really good at tutoring; a silver bullet sideboard card with no redundant effects is only 1% of your deck.
Expect a report back sometime at the beginning of 2020.

I don’t think it’s particularly difficult to hit the cost reduction over the course of a multiplayer game, but it’ll be tricky to pull off early and there are lots of alternatives that have no such timing restrictions.

I’m really underwhelmed by this card. This is uncastable unless you’re running a spellslinger deck, and if that’s the case you can probably win by spell combo looong before this accrues enough knowledge counters to be good. Also, spellslinger decks can refill their hands instantly with a single card that actually synergizes with their deck’s strategy of casting instants/sorceries, such as Windfall, Time Reversal, Reforge the Soul, etc, etc. How much effort and how many turns will it take for Magic Mirror to draw you as many cards as a Windfall? How many opponents have to choose not to Vandalblast or Krosan Grip or Return to Dust the Mirror over that time period?

Great card! It’s not hard to build a deck with plenty of mana rocks and utility enchantments that are good in multiples, and your opponents are likely to have some good targets, as well.

If you’re in monoblue, and your commander can bounce lands, and you’ve got a critical mass of extra turn effects, this thing generates infinite turns.
That may sound unlikely, but there are a surprising number of monoblue commanders that can bounce lands; Uyo, Silent Prophet, Meloku, and Kefnet the Mindful all combo off with this thing, and there are 5 extra turn effects that don’t exile or shuffle that you can slot into this combo (6 if you’ve got Rogues).

Very good with commanders with “cast X, get token” abilities, like Sai, Master Thopterist, Alela, Artful Provocateur, Kykar, and Talrand. Many of those commanders build around cards of the chosen type that cantrip, so you can use this ability to loot away lands and chain relevant cards into each other and continually trigger your commander.
Also, it goes infinite with the Locust God.

This seems good in less-competitive Urza and Jhoira 2.0 decks as a means to get more gas off your Darksteel Relics and such. The good builds don’t have time for a 6-mana dragon, though.

Incredible combo piece in Grenzo, Dungeon Warden decks. All you need is a sac outlet and you can start juggling creatures between the library, graveyard, and battlefield, farming ETB and death triggers.
It also seems good in self-mill decks that can easily drop its cost down to two, but the bottom-of-library drawback is much more significant in those lists.

This will often create 4 bodies for four mana, which is a great ratio. Black has a ton of sac outlet commanders that will be happy to run this card, including Torgaar, Whisper, Bontu, and Yawgmoth. Marrow-Gnawer lists may also be interested, as it’s one of the few Rat token generators that can make many at once.

Hero’s Downfall sees play in almost 15,000 decks on EDHREC. While this card has some weird drawbacks (exiles itself, then buries itself on the bottom of your library), there are a lot of powerful things you can do with it because it’s stapled to a creature, like recurring it with a Phyrexian Reclamation or Volrath’s Stronghold in response to the death trigger. It works even better if you have access to Blue’s bounce engines.
I know it seems a little goofy compared to a Ravenous Chupacabra, but the instant speed on Swift End should not be underestimated, as there are a ton of situations where you need to interrupt something to keep from dying.

Upping your Rat count and snatching commanders seems solid in Marrow-Gnawer lists.

If you’re running a combo deck, the drawback is basically negligible, since your deck can probably kill your opponent before they can use it.

There aren’t a whole lot of Red decks capable of going wide that are interested in double strike for their commanders; most decks don’t go both wide and tall. Maybe Wasitora or Gishath can use this effectively?

The Crush effect will never be irrelevant in Commander, so this is a solid card for Syr Gwyn decks that lean into Knight tribal. I probably wouldn’t run it in other decks, however, as Red has better artifact destruction than this.

This guy is too inefficient for me to be excited to run him in most go-wide decks, but tribal lists always have a lower barrier to entry because their creature type is so valuable. In Syr Gwyn tribal Knights, I’d give this anthem effect a shot.

This is a generally useful reward for something few decks can pull off. It’s tricky to find commanders that can reliably trigger this a bunch without straight winning the game in the process (i.e., Jhoira Weatherlight Captain, Anje Falkenrath). I think Arjun, Jori En, and Korvold could be good fits for this card.

In order for this to be good, your commander has to be able to trigger this and make use of the reward. Lyzolda can do this by sacrificing the Rats to draw cards, potentially triggering Mad Ratter again if you activate her on your opponents’ turns.
Korvold behaves similarly, as you can feed him two Rats to draw two cards and trigger the Ratter again.
Finally, the Scorpion God can eat the Rats for cards, thereby creating more Rats.

Sure, it’s got a drawback, but it offers a relatively unconditional instant-speed kill spell in a color that has far from a critical mass of them. This is one of the best Red spot removal spells, beaten out only by Chaos Warp, Lightning Bolt, and Abrade. This kills 14/21 of the most popular commanders on EDHREC and the vast majority of the most popular creatures.

Heavy Green decks tend to be creature-focused, so the restriction isn’t that significant. It feels a lot better if you think of this card as a Temple of the False God that can still tap for mana when you have fewer than five lands.

This is pretty comparable to Guardian Project or Beast Whisperer if you can reliably get a 3+ power creature on the field (perhaps from your command zone?), as the ability to tap for two means this effectively costs 2 less than whatever the reduced price ends up being.

It took me a minute to notice the “one or more” clause, after which my interest in this card plummeted. However, it is a Cat that draws you a card every turn, so Arahbo with gladly welcome him into the pride.

The existence of Bane of Progress (and the dozen tutors to find it) in Green makes this card a lot less appealing. However, the Hydra type makes it a great utility creature for Gargos decks.

Anyone who’s played Gruul Ragebeast can tell you that this is pretty powerful creature control; if this goes unanswered, you’re going to eat all of your opponents’ threats. I would happily run this in monogreen decks looking for ways to remove multiple creatures, especially if my meta was light on spot removal.

Never before have I seen an Impulse that was this hard to cast. Bird decks don’t run enough artifacts/enchantments to make this reliably hit, but if there was ever a commander in these colors that rewarded you for playing artifact creatures, I’d consider running this guy.

This looks like a one-sided Open the Vaults to me, and there are lots of commanders that will be happy to run this, including Hanna, Breya, Tuvasa, and Kestia. I think this card was intentionally designed so that you can easily avoid animating your stuff if you don’t want to, as making your hard-to-remove artifacts and enchantments vulnerable to creature removal is not ideal (as anyone who’s played with Opalescence or Starfield of Nyx can attest).

This is pretty close to drawing five cards for five mana, provided your curve isn’t too high. I think I’d run this in Gruul or Naya decks with a low curve.

Fyndhorn Elder and Greenweaver Druid are not good cards, but Llanowar Tribe and Somberwald Sage are. If you’re running 3+ colors, I would happily run this card, as 7 mana on turn 4 is no joke and can really launch you past your opponents.

I like this effect way more than a typical anthem, since it scales to multiple opponents. I’d run this in tribal Knights, but don’t get your hopes up about firing off that activated ability when none of the Knight decks are in ramp colors.

This is quite good in Arcades, the Strategist. The rate isn’t terrible and granting all of your creatures haste is very powerful in a deck that can vomit out five 4-toughness defenders in a turn.

There are a couple lists that are very excited for new Eggs (cheap artifacts that draw cards and sacrifice themselves), such as Gerrard 2.0, Teshar, and some Breya builds.

I generally do not like anthem effects that only buff for a single point of power, especially when they cost three mana. I also generally do not like mana rocks that cost three and only produce a single mana. However, the combination of these two effects is kind of attractive. Tapping for mana means your anthem essentially only costs two mana, and producing a mana every turn thereafter is a significant bonus. I really like this in Alela since it also triggers her token production ability, but I’d consider testing it in other go-wide token decks as well.

This seems like a solid draw engine for monowhite decks, and maybe monored and red/white decks. As long as you have a commander that doesn’t mind attacking, this’ll probably act as an Underworld Connections.

Even monocolor decks now have a ton of options for fetches; we’re at the threshold of a critical mass of fetches so you can more consistently assemble an engine with Crucible of Worlds. I’d run this in 3-color decks, 2-color decks, and monocolor decks with Crucible and Scroll Rack.

Waterdeep's sewers are a subject of fascination for the city
You know the passageway like the one ur in often has arteries or iron doors set in them leading to different areas
Also know sometimes due to poor planning or smth some areas without walkways also have access tunnels
There's a bridge ? Nasty water under it

Cel rolls a 22, plenty of damp areas around ,, no light in the passage, walking for a minute or so and w each step just hear a wet squelching noise; we're leaving behind wet, muddy footprints
No sign of recent mud in front of us
10 minutes go by and every once in a while pass side arteries w more sewage flowing in

Center of the room; at one point looks like there was a wall covering the room but has since collapsed; several ppl looking at us
Far corner opposite to us is an old halfling man in dark robes, clutching wound at chest, long gray braid down back staring at us as if he heard we were coming
In front of him are two smiling skeletons

All of my thoughts on RWBY: taken from one of my videos here
If you haven’t watched RWBY yet... I honestly don’t know what to tell you. The show is genuinely one of my favorite anime of all time. It’s got an amazing cast of interesting characters, great writing, an amazing world to get immersed in. Every character you meet sticks with you, many of the fights are fast paced and memorable, and being a lore buff like me pays off in this world.
But RWBY isn’t... perfect, and having finished the newest season and rewatched the show from the beginning... I have some issues.
Don’t get me wrong, the new season had some excellent parts. The fight between Blake and Adam was literally perfect, and side note, idk why fans are saying Adam got nerfed for this fight or made weaker, when some of his only notable feats happen during this fight. The man lands hits like mortal kombat combos.
Anyway, I don’t want to just crap on the show so before I go into what I didn’t like, I’ll get into what I did. But before then, I’ll have to give you a brief rundown of the show. But before THEN I gotta give my obligatory plug

Got it? Good.
So here’s everything I love about the series.
I really like the character designs. Every single character has an excellent design and I could really do a video on how character design helps develop character and tell a story just using this show. Every person in the show has an interesting and cool design that helps you to remember and understand them.
An easy example is Weiss. She dresses like an actual princess, her color scheme and weapons are all very elegant looking and it hints at her high class status without even having to spell it out for you.
Plus I love how characters names are based off of fairy tales or mythology. For example, Sun, Sage, and the ironically named Neptune. The motif of fairy tales is fun too, for example Ruby being Little Red Riding hood, Ozpin and Glenda Goodwich being wizard of oz references, ironwood being the tin man and Leo being the lion, Qrow and scarecrows and all of that. Weiss and Winter both have names very directly based on snow.
Every name in this show was very clearly thought out, and even abilities too.
Sun can make clones of himself just like in the myth, Blake has issues with running from her problems, so she can make clones, yang has anger issues and can go super saiyan, almost everyone’s power has something to do with their personality.
Salem is such a fun villain. I wish she could do more because she’s really sinister and scary. She’s such a fun villain to watch but she doesn’t do shit.
I also love the fight scenes, I love how bombastic and fast paced they are, and it’s really cool how every character has their own unique style of movement and fighting that vary between them. The fights in this show are quick and stick in your mind, and there’s an emphasis put often on how much a character can move in a short amount of time.
Cinder as much as I hate her is also a great villain, and that’s why I hate her.
Roman Torchwick is also a GREAT villain and The way he dies is satisfying as hell, and seeing Neo again made me scream.
The worldbuilding is my favorite aspect of the show. Now I’m weird and I like info dumps and that’s why I enjoy those World Of Remnant videos that expand on the worldbuilding so as not to bog down story with info dumps. The world is really fun to learn about, how humanity has evolved in terms of technology is fun to speculate on, for example since Grimm attacks are common and destructive, towns outside of major cities are less technologically advance because they often don’t have time to explore that and have to move from town to town quickly in an emergency.
The Grimm are excellent monsters with varying abilities that make them scary. I love the Apathy from the most recent season, and how it doesn’t just attack you like a Beowulf, Ursa, or Nevermore, but it drains away your will to fight back at all.
This show also has my favorite trope of all time MIXED TIMELINES
YOU GOT TRADITIONAL CHINESE CLOTHING AND DRESS AND ASIAN ARCHITECTURE ON TOP OF CELL PHONES TOWERS AND ALL OF THAT
this trope is so fun because it really makes a world feel unique.
The world of Naruto has all kinds of modern stuff, but until Boruto it was mixed with older tech and tradition, really selling how this is not our world.
Another thing I love: every weapon is a gun. That is SO fun.
Now as good as the show is, it does have problems. That’s inevitable though, all shows, movies, and books have problems, nothing is perfect.
Except Avatar. Avatar is flawless.
Me pointing out the issues I have with this show is by no means to say it’s bad, just to point them out.
I truly do have love for this series and I still cry about Phyrra and her death.
I love you baby.
But that being said, pointing out the issues a show has can be important for both understanding the pitfalls to avoid in our own writing, and helping creators fix issues later on.
A lot of hard work goes into making this show and I would just be an asshole if I did nothing but shit on the show.
No matter how many issues it has, I can tell the people making it love what they’re doing, and that always shines through a series no matter how many issues it has, just like a show or movie can do everything conventionally right and still be a soulless shit show.

So here’s the issues
Fight scenes
I love the fight scenes. I’ve said that, they really can be so fun to view and I find myself coming back to them a lot.
But I have issues.
Lemme just say first that I don’t like complaining against animation. Animators go through enough crap already and it feels mean to criticize them at times, but this needs to be said.
One, I hate how people throw punches in this show.
They swing so wide it’s annoying.
Okay listen. If you swing at someone with a punch this wide, and they know how to fight, it will not land. They will block or dodge. I know this because as my subscribers know, I am a martial artist. I know jujitsu and boxing, and I took taeqwondo.
This is a bad punch.
My theory is that they do it to emphasize the impact of a bit, but that’s not necessary. There are other ways to do that.
You could say “they’re animators they don’t know how fighting works.”
But Naruto exists and those animators get martial arts stuff down PAT.
Hell, avatar the last airbender depends on its animators being able to animate fights with consistent accuracy, and those characters use styles most people have never heard of like Baguazhang.
And I know this doesn’t seem like a big deal, but it is. It’s hard to really get behind fight scenes at times when the characters can’t throw a simple punch right.
And again it’s not like it’s impossible for animation to animate a fight.
There’s a scene during a fight in Naruto where Obito Uchiha kicks Kakashi, and Kakashi uses his foot to redirect the kick and pull obito off balance.
This is a real move, that people do, and it’s done accurately, but RWBY seems to struggle with accuracy in their fights. Which is fine when a character’s weapon looks like this, but not in hand to hand.
This issue comes up in sword fights too. The way Weiss fights annoys me because her sword is a rapier, and the most important characteristic of a rapier is that often times they don’t have blades, they have points, and when they do have blades, they aren’t meant for slashing. Rapiers were made to exploit the gaps in someone’s armor by stabbing them, and thus it is a thrusting sword, not a slashing one. A sword like a Katana or Khopesh would be good for slashing. Roman gladius can kind of do both, but not as good as either one.
The point is that if they’re gonna give Wiess a rapier, they need to stop animating her slashing with it. Especially when her rapier doesn’t appear to have a sharp edge.
My next complaint is wasted characters.
It’s very frustrating when RWBY takes times to show us a character, but then never uses them.
I didn’t even know sun had a full team sometimes because you never see them.
And furthermore it’s annoying when a fight scene will just stop so that a character can do a cool thing.
Oh no this robot is so hard to beat, how will we beat this dangerous and powerful robot
Oh wait, this character can solo it because the plot needs to pause so she can be cool then promptly never be seen again.
It is so frustrating and it makes it hard to actually know when a character is in danger.
It takes 20 hits to kill a Grimm in one scene, then like two in another.
And the reason for that is because the plot is being pushed aside for the sake of spectacle.
A character’s abilities will be made inconsistent for a chance to make them seem cool.
Like this scene where Tyrion is fighting qrow, he uses his tail to block bullets.
But why?
He has his Aura up, the bullets wouldn’t hurt him anyway! Then when he gets shot later after he looses his aura his tail comes off.
If he was fast enough to use his tail to block bullets he wasn’t even paying attention to, why can’t he do it now!
There is no internal consistency.
Like why are Grimm so strong if they don’t have auras? That’s not explained because they Grimm rarely serve the plot, they spectacle. Adam putting 20 kombo hits into yang to beat her makes sense. He has to wear down her aura to actually hurt her.
But 20 hits to kill a grim that then gets solo’d by a character later on?
No.
Then there’s hazel.
He annoys me.
His villainous motivation is that his sister joined a school for trained soldiers, then died because it was dangerous and now he hates Ozpin.
Dude what?
Like I get why he’s mad, but she knew the risk and someone had to sign off on her getting in for her to be able to go to beacon at all. A child can’t just register for a school especially one where it’s a known risk you could die.
Also another thing I hate is how characters will overreact to stuff in annoying ways.
This is mostly in the most recent season.

But everyone finds out the history of Ozpin and Salem’s relationship from Djinn
And then they just all hate and distrust Ozpin.
Here’s my reaction to finding out about ozpins relationship
It’s just... not that big a deal.
Okay so he was pipping the villain at one point
Nigga so was dumbldore!
It’s just annoying how Ozpin didn’t really do anything but he still was treated like he was just a bad person when he wasn’t.
That whole plot point feels empty, and I found myself more annoyed with the characters for being mad at him and wasting time, than mad at Ozpin for wanting to get laid.
My next complaint on this nitpick fest is
Shit what was I gonna say again?
Oh yea, that annoying ass military lady and her whole reason for not letting the heroes into atlas.
That was so annoying and pointless. She really had no reason not to let them through, and her getting into a giant mecha to fight them pulled me so far away from the story because it was just too ridiculous.
The mecha is for fighting Kaiju grim but it’s taken down by like five kids and their drunk grandpa.
Which like... fine but I hate it.
I hate that whole sequence.
It didn’t have to happen like that, it was another fight purely for spectacle.
It made me mad.
Plus I really really hate mecha anime and mecha fights in general.
God I hate them.
I skipped almost every mecha fight in Voltron because I hate them.
Look the point is that rwby is definitely a good show and I love almost every part of it, but these issues really pull me away from the story at times and you can really sense how much of the story is less about progression and more about increasing drama like the Ozpin thing, or looking cool.
Please watch rwby it really is worth your time, just be aware of the issues it has.

you asked for basically anything, so my plan going in here was to deliver a wintery and modern spin on the classic mermaid au fic. of course it ran away from me, so now you get a wip of a fic, and that just seems like a bum present so I draw art to make up for that, and gosh dude I just hope you like it

anyway, here’s a sneak peek at the first chapter!

“The Sea Bleeds Blue” Chapter 1 (prototype)
“... the man is reported to have been under the influence of alcohol during the time of his encounter…”
The tiny little TV blares throughout the house from its perch on the kitchen counter, a feat much more impressive in possibly any other structure that isn’t a cramped beach house. Like, seriously cramped. The kind of cramped where you can barely lay flat across the floor without hitting a wall.
It’s not like Winry Rockbell hates her grandma’s beach house. In a way, she gets it. You get older, your health starts to go, the warm weather is easy on your joints and the air is just so much easier to breathe compared to city smog. And everyone else your age has the same idea, too. When you have a nest egg and no other obligations, why not? Why not just live at the beach, wake up every morning to the soothing ebb of waves, sip your coffee on a porch overlooking the scenery, be a family vacation destination in and of yourself, and just wait to die?
That’s her whole bugbear with the thing actually, now that she thinks about it. People come to the beach to die.
She blinks hard, reaches for her wire cutters, and tries not to think about it much more than that.
“... officials like park ranger Jean Havoc however say the injuries are more likely to have been caused by a particularly territorial sea lion,” the newscaster on the TV continues, her voice tinny and distorted by the on-board speakers. Honestly, she could fix those if Gran would let her...
“He might’ve been feedin’ ‘em, harassin’ ‘em… Sea lions ain’t known to be gracious about their personal space, so all it takes is one loud, persistent jerkwad to ruin their whole day. Heck, mine too! Hahaha.”
“The man was admitted to the hospital this morning, and is expected to make a full recovery…”
Paninya scoffs, loud enough to startle Winry just as she’s threading the headlight through its socket. Luckily a less delicate part of this process. “Sea lion my butt. I’ve bounced frisbees off those things and they haven’t moved.”
She pauses as she considers that image. “Please tell me you don’t make field goals out of sea lions on purpose.”
“Of course not! They’re just… big. And bouncy. And all over? You can’t go down the boardwalk without tripping on them. Like, seriously, is there like a sea lion sanctuary nearby or something? Don’t they migrate?” Paninya asks, her nose scrunching up.
“Uh, I think Mr. Hughes might—”
“No, wait, that’s beside the point,” she interrupts. “And the point here is that I’m not buying what that park ranger is selling.” Her deep brown eyes watch Winry expectantly.
Winry puts down the wires she was futzing with and turns to give her a long-suffering smile, resigning herself to the next few minutes being completely unproductive. “Alright, detective, give me the scoop. What’s really going on in Brightly Cove?”
Paninya always gets this wild grin on her face when she does this. The corner of her smile lifts up just so, her eyes glint, and she squares her shoulders like she’s the hardboiled crime noir star the situation needs.
“Okay, so,” she starts, “You saw the gashes on the guy, right?”
Winry shrugs. “A little bit.”
“Okay, well, they’re completely inconsistent with a sea lion attack. We’d be looking for bites and puncture wounds, and he got approximately uhh, NONE of those. So either sea lions have mutated to have razor sharp claws in the past week, or it wasn’t a sea lion and the park ranger is bullshitting us to cover up what it REALLY was.”
“Right, I’m following so far.”
“So, let’s set the scene.” She stands up to stalk around the incredibly small kitchen table toward Winry. “You’re a dumb tourist that came to the beach in the winter. You’ve brought a brand new jet ski with you, completely oblivious that the water is way too cold for that right now. Because you’re a dumb tourist.”
Winry takes the cue. “I’m a savvy tourist because I’ve arrived when no one is here and none of the shops are open! Locals LOVE my business! Sure hope nothing happens to me without any lifeguards!”
“You’re out on the water when you get caught… in a current! Waves come and pummel you towards the shore, one by one! Before you know it you’re smashed up against the rocks,  no shore to save you. You’re stuck.”
She musters the most dramatic slump over the back of the chair that she can manage. “Woe is the fate of a tourist such as I.”
“But wait!” Paninya raises a hand to her forehead, shielding her eyes from some kind of indoor sun. “What’s that coming toward you? It couldn’t be, is it a person, come to save you in your darkest hour? But then it comes closer, and you realize fate has never been so kind… because there, in the distance… is…“ She leans in close to Winry with a grave look.
“Is…?”
“Bigfoot with a machete.”
“Bigfoot with a—?!” Winry sputters, pushing Paninya away as she absolutely howls with laughter. “Your idea of a more likely culprit than a sea lion is Bigfoot with a machete?!”
“Uh, yeah?” She lifts an eyebrow. “Come on Winry. The gashes. The rocks. The collectible shot glass he leaves at the scene of every crime. It’s totally Bigfoot’s m.o.”
Winry turns back to the mess of robotics on the table. “I’m done with you. Completely done. I’m kicking you out.”
“What? Noooo, come oooon, I’ve got nothing else to do today! I’m gonna be so bored, Winry, pleeease,” Paninya whines, flopping bonelessly onto the table with her best puppy-dog eyes. Winry is mostly unaffected.
“Why not just go hang out with Lan Fan?” she asks. “She puts up with you way more than I do.”
“Can’t. She’s out with her grandpa ‘scoring sweet holiday deals’ at the outlets.” The complaint comes with air quotes. “Besides, you’ve been talking about how cool this project is gonna be for like, mooonths. I can’t miss it after that kind of hype.”
“I have kind of been taunting you with it, haven’t I?” Winry sighs, curling a loose wire around her finger. “Tell you what. If you can be quiet and not so… Paninya the amazing living distraction on me, then I’ll let you come with me later to do the experiment.” Paninya’s whole disposition perks up like a labradoodle. “But! That means no distractions.”
“Aye captain, no distractions,” Paninya promises with a little salute.

Several hours in that ramshackle beach house kitchen, crammed around a table and dutifully trying to keep potato chip crumbs from invading her whole zone (which, to Paninya’s credit, does not technically count as a distraction), and it’s finally complete. Just in time for low tide, too. The thing she’s been dreaming of doing for months, the senior project that will launch her college applications from drab to fab, the thing that will get her out of this backwater beach town for good...
“Okay, so. No more secrets. Tell me what your project is, Win,” Paninya demands, handing her a roll up cord out of the backpack they brought with them. Winry beams at her.
“Wwwweeell, do you remember those guys from like, San Fran who started building an aquatic robot to explore a hole that was rumored to have treasure at the bottom?”
Paninya pulls out a half-eaten bag of Ruffles from the backpack. “No, but that sounds completely rad. Is that your project? Oh shit, are we gonna find treasure?”
“Probably not,” Winry casually admits, ignoring the way Paninya deflates. “But the robot, yeah. The one they built was a world-wide collaboration across the internet. They had a goal, and people would test their builds by building one of their own, tweak it, and report their findings on those tweaks. It was super cool.”
“Yeah, cool for nerds maybe…” Paninya mumbles around a chip.
“SO,” she presses on, “I built one of my own. With some tweaks. You know, in the spirit of the thing. Now I just need to test it out, record my success, and write a whole essay on it.”
“Which is why we’re in the spooky cave that you can only get to at low tide and has a mysterious bottomless pit in it? So you can see if your ‘bot dives or fries?”
“Yep!” Winry answers cheerfully. “And why not just use Ling’s pool to do this instead? My legs don’t get good traction in here. I almost slipped earlier. I almost died.”
“Because Ling’s pool isn’t saltwater, and you’re fine.”
“Wow. Cold. Is this what a shitload of free time your senior year does to you, or is it just the overachieving itself?”
“Both,” Winry chirps, and plugs the cord into the tablet. She moves to plug in the other end into the robot itself, but frowns. The waterproof chassis doesn’t look right, like it settled in transport, skewing the whole design just slightly enough that it kind of worries her. Just that tiny bit of pressure on the cable could knock it out with the right bump, or damage the whole port.
Oh well. That’s why a scout’s always prepared, right? She pulls a knife out of her pocket and carefully shaves the plastic away to make room. And just like that, the plug fits like a charm. Nice and snug.
She turns to Paninya, and nods. “It’s show time.”
“Wait, waaaait,” Paninya stops her, waving a cheese-dusted hand around as the other reaches into the backpack. “It’s bad luck to sail a ship without a name. Got one?”
“Uh… I’ve just been calling it Divebot mark 1?” she offers.
Paninya stops digging through the supplies to stare. “Come on, Win. I’ve taught you to ‘yes and’ better than that.”
“Ugh, fine, okay. Um… Divey Jones?”
“Better.” Paninya reveals a can of ginger ale, and at Winry’s own disbelieving stare, shrugs. “It’s not like I have champagne, dude. Ready?”
“Ready.”
Gently, Winry eases the newly christened Divey Jones into the pool of water in front of them at the same time Paninya starts vigorously shaking the can. It floats on top of the surface, gently bobbing, and Winry tosses a grin at Paninya. First success: buoyancy. Next: video feed.
She boots up the tablet, jailbroken to run an open framework because nobody wants you to sandbox their stuff anymore, and opens the custom app she programmed just for this project. One part video capture, one part robot controller. It saved her the parts cost of making a controller, but also? It’s just a little more impressive for whoever looks over her work. Look, she can engineer hardware and software!
When the window prompt comes up to sync the devices, she starts to get jittery. It was one thing to test out at the house, where everything seemed to work just fine, but this was it. This was what either made her winter break a vacation or a mad dash to troubleshoot whatever could have possibly gone wrong in her schematics. The only thing separating her from either possibility was the flip of a switch.
She picks Divey back up from the water, turns it over, and flips it from “off” to “on”.
Immediately, it begins whirring to life, humming in her hand as the battery does its work. She picks up the tablet and pulls out a notepad lined with little squares to check off as she goes through the boot up process: Video feed online? Check. Headlights? Check. A quick figure eight around the little pool confirms that the fins and motors are working, and she checks that off as well.
It’s time for the big moment. She and Paninya nod at each other.
She deflates the swim bladder a little bit, and as Divey Jones begins to sink into the black abyss, Paninya opens the can of ginger ale to a satisfying arc of spray across the cavern, whooping and laughing at the mess it makes. “Bon voyage!!” she calls down the hole, and Winry shakes her head, smiling and turning her attention to guiding the robot on its way.
The “bottomless pit” is an old volcanic magma tube of some sort, five feet in diameter at the top but quickly narrowing as you go down, and filled with water that pours into the cave at every high tide. The cave that contains it is only accessible on foot during low tide, and you have to be careful not to get caught in the cave during high tide. There’s a ton of warnings on a sign outside that attempt to dissuade tourists from trying to camp out in it, and for good reason.
She got stuck in here at high tide once, when she was a kid. Blacked out and woke up to an ambulance and her grandma freaking out. Couldn’t step foot into the place for a few years after that, partly because of trauma, and partly because the park rangers have tightened up their watch on the place ever since.
So. She and Paninya aren’t really supposed to be here. But, you know. It’s for science.
Paninya leans her head on Winry’s shoulder and watches the video feed on the tablet, the only indicator of where the robot is now that it’s turned a corner out of sight. She presses a chip to Winry’s lips, who mindlessly opens her mouth to accept it she’s so focused.
“How deep is this thing, anyway?” Paninya asks after a few more moments of watching video of dark gray rock walls float by.
“Hopefully less than fifty feet? The cable isn’t any longer than that.”
“Yeah, and you’re almost out of rope,” Paninya observes, looking at the coil beside them that grows thinner and thinner as the robot dives onward. “So now might be a good time to say you see the bottom.”
“Well, I don’t see anythi… wait.” Winry leans forward, bringing the tablet screen up to her face, her brow furrowing. There’s a small irregularity in the tunnels further down where it opens up a bit more. It’s like… what it looks like when an octopus camouflages itself against a rock. But the video on Divey’s tiny little camera is so grainy… and it looks so, so much bigger than an octopus.
Paninya leans in closer. “What? What do you see?”
“I… don’t know?” she answers honestly, and then something really startles her. “Oh fuck, it moved. It just moved—”
“What moved? Where am I looking?”
“Right here!” She points at the screen, at the tiny mass of pixels that is growing and changing and moving, even as the robot sits still, and she doesn’t know what it is. A thought occurs somewhere in her head that maybe she should start backing Divey up, but before she can do anything the mass surges forward in a terrifying blur and the feed cuts to static.
“Divey, no!!” Paninya squeals, and Winry nearly tosses the tablet across the room. But she’s cool. She keeps her cool. She’s smarter than to throw away the one thing containing most of the several past months of work.
“What the hell could…” She stops, the zippy sound of cord sliding across rock catching her off guard. That pitiful coil of cord that was slowly disappearing into the abyss with Divey is disappearing so much faster now, and with the tablet still connected to it.
“Winry, Winry Winry Winry, the tablet, you’ve gotta let go of the tablet—” Paninya babbles, scrambling to get onto her feet, and Winry doesn’t even think this time. She fumbles for the knife at her side, and in one swift motion, severs the line, just in time for the newly frayed end to get sucked into the hole like spaghetti.
Her mouth is dry as she looks up at Paninya.
“Run.”

Episode 110: Onion Gang

“No more weirdo friends.”
There have been a handful of Steven Universe episodes that I only watched once, didn’t like, and didn’t watch again until reviewing them for this project. Time has been kind to many of them: I’ve come to appreciate Ronaldo (especially in Rising Tides, Crashing Skies, which I was super down on) as well as Say Uncle and The New Lars. I don’t necessarily love all these episodes now, but they’re a lot better than I once thought.
But yeah sometimes my first impression is right on the money.

Onion Gang is the most boring episode of the series by a country mile. The show has meandered before in the likes of Cat Fingers, Steven’s Lion, and Open Book, but these stories at least resolve in interesting ways. Looking forward, Escapism has even fewer words than Onion Gang, but it’s designed to simultaneously add to Steven’s many ordeals and act as the calm before the storm (and it’s also, y’know, watchable; silence can be a good thing, ask any episode of Samurai Jack). But Onion Gang is relentlessly uninteresting throughout.
The glacial pace isn’t helped by comedy bits falling flat at a rate that’s almost impressive. I try pretty hard to find things I like in episodes I don’t, but there’s literally nothing here for me. That is not easy. Especially considering how much of a sucker I am for Onion, slapstick, and weird goofy side adventures. This should be right up my alley, but hoo boy is it not.
Still, I’ll give it a try: the most generous reading of Onion Gang is that it focuses on Steven misunderstanding Onion, and if you squint, you can draw a parallel between his assumptions about Onion and his assumptions about Rose (both silent, mysterious figures in his life) being proven wrong. False narratives are a recurring theme in Steven’s arc, and another one pops up here. But even if that broadest of strokes is an intended connection, it doesn’t stop Onion Gang from being a catastrophe.

The only Onion Pal that leaves any impression is Garbanzo, and the impression is that Garbanzo is the worst character the show has ever produced. Villains like Kevin and Aquamarine are horrible, but that’s the point. Irritating secondary characters like Ronaldo and Lars have actual depth, and otherwise further the plot and are reliable for decent humor at times (it’s a shame that only one of them grows, but still). Garbanzo is a kid who shouts the word “Garbanzo” as if this is inherently amusing, and uh that’s it. The joke isn’t funny the first time, and doesn’t become funny through brute force repetition. It’s just annoying.
Squash, Soup, and Pinto are...there? They mostly exist for the gag of Steven naming all of them, a continuation of his unusually domineering presence in Onion Gang. Because oh yeah, on top of everything else this is a dreadful Steven episode. It’s not Sadie’s Song, because his presumptuous attitude doesn’t cause actual harm, but this is a bad look on a hero whose powers are supposed to be based on empathy. His narration of Onion’s actions mostly acts as another gag, and like Garbanzo, it’s not a funny one, but that doesn’t stop the episode from repeating it ad nauseam.

Steven’s weird behavior doesn’t stop there. The overlong go-kart scene ends with Steven seeing Garbanzo spray ketchup on himself, then instantly forgetting he saw this and openly wondering if Garbanzo is hurt. Which makes this the dumbest Steven has ever been. It makes zero sense that he would be bamboozled by something he saw faked with his own eyes, to the point where the gag itself becomes confusing: this would be like if he saw Amethyst eat his dinner then asked where his dinner went, it requires Steven’s intelligence to plummet so perilously that it confounds what we’re supposed to find funny about the joke in the first place.
But the most bizarre misfire by far is Steven declaring that he’s “the lonely boy with no friends his age” when Connie Maheswaran exists. She’s busy (as is the underused Peedee), but our hero makes the flying leap that this means he’s utterly friendless. This is a kid defined by his ability to make friends. He saves the ocean once and the planet twice by making friends. The entire show hinges on his fundamental friendliness. This plot point is ludicrous, even when we take into account that Steven is being annoyingly melodramatic.
A nitpick, but one that fuels the Ronaldo-level conspiracy theorist in me, is that Connie was prepping for school in Buddy’s Book and is attending school in Mindful Education, so if she’s shopping for school supplies in Onion Gang then either she’s doing it super late (which doesn’t sound like something she or her mother would ever allow) or this episode, which mind you is stated to take place as summer ends, should've aired between the two Connie episodes. The conspiracy theory is that Onion Gang would’ve looked even weaker when shoved between two episodes about what good friends Steven and Connie are, so it got moved to settle between two Crystal Gem stories.

I think that it’s theoretically possible to make a good episode that evokes unambiguous pathos from Onion. But considering the character works because he’s this strange, menacing force of nature in an otherwise pretty normal population of humans, I’m not sure he’s a character that needs the depth. Onion Friend hit a sweet spot of making him grow a little, but maintain his creepy charm. Onion Gang goes further, but in doing so removes everything interesting about Beach City’s resident weirdo. Gone is the kid who two episodes ago was robbing the arcade with a crowbar and a bandit mask. Here instead is an odd but sensitive kid whose mischievous friends somehow render him less mischievous than usual. It’s bad enough to have a boring episode, but a boring episode with Onion as the focus? Again, it’s almost impressive.
There’s no reason to watch this episode instead of any other Onion-centric episode if Onion is your jam. There’s no reason to watch this episode instead of any other Steven-centric episode barring Sadie’s Song if Steven is your jam. There’s no reason to watch this episode instead of rewatching Last One Out of Beach City if being charmed by friendship is your jam. There’s no reason to watch this episode instead of Buddy’s Book if thematic resonance in regards to false narratives is your jam. There’s no reason to watch this episode instead of any episode of Craig of the Creek if kids playing outside is your jam. Only watch Onion Gang if you’re a glutton for punishment.
We’re the one, we’re the ONE! TWO! THREE! FOUR!
Part of me wants to rank this higher than Fusion Cuisine and House Guest, where I find more insulting mischaracterizations. But both of those episodes have enjoyable elements that are weighed down by lousy depictions of Connie and Greg; Garnet’s a riot in the former, and there’s a sweet song in the latter despite being muddled by context. Whereas there are no real bright spots in Onion Gang. It’s an unbearable eleven minutes that I’m never going to watch again.
Sadie’s Song is worse because it’s the worst Steven episode in the series and it misses the mark so much, and it’s important to Sadie’s arc so it’s harder to skip, which makes me resent it more. Island Adventure is worse because its moral is that abuse is a reasonable method of communication. But that’s all that’s stopping Onion Gang from reaching the very bottom.
The good news is that this is it for my No Thanks list, and while I might’ve had a bit of fun dissecting why I dislike Onion Gang so much, it bears saying that 6 stinkers in 180 episodes and a movie ain’t shabby.

Inquisitor’s Name: Clove Antonia Ines Trevelyan Race / Class / Specialization: Human, Rogue, Assassin Gender Identity: Female
Varric’s Nickname for them: Stitches
Short bio:  Clove was born into the duty and expectations of serving the Chantry, despite her voicing disapproval for the Chantry and the Templars. Growing up, she was known among the other noble families for being a trouble maker, therefore her family sent her to live within the local Chantry in hopes of turning their daughter on to the path of Andraste. Within a couple of months, Clove was excommunicated from the Church after getting into a verbal disagreement with one of the Clerics over the Chant of Light. The Chantry ordered her to participate in some type of physical punishment, citing that labor would bring her closer to Andraste, but the means of labor were left up to the discretion of her parents. Her parents then sent Clove to manage their fleet, but Clove became a person who demanded respect, and the crew began to follow her orders instead of her parents. Clove then began plundering other ships while running shipments for her parents.
What would their companion card look like? 
Initial Card: (Reversed Hierophant) Clove is in the center of the card dressed in loose fitting clothes, in one hand she holds a gold coin, in the other she holds a tattered Chantry flag, to right a Chantry person has turned her back to Clove. To the left, a shadow figure is kneeling facing towards Clove, holding an open chest that’s filled with gold.
Loyalty:  (Death Upright) Clove can be seen riding the horse on the Trevelyan card, holding the Inquisition banner in one hand and a portrait of her brother in the other.
Loyalty Alternative: (Star Reversed) Clove holds a large wooden jug that is spilling out stars, her face is concealed by a black hood. A desert scene can be seen behind her form, signaling the decay of loyalty and friendship.
Romanced:  (Strength). Clove is stretch out across a large chair, one leg hanging over one of the arms, head cupped in one hand. A large lion skin is wrapped around her, and she has a smirk on her face.

“A Bump in the Night”
At the War Table:
The head of a noble house within Orlais reaches out to the Inquisition, stating that his business is failing because his ships continue to be plundered and his crew members taken by the opposing ship. Not only is his business suffering, but many other nobles have cited a complaint against this mystery pirate. The noble requests that the Inquisition send help in order to put a stop to this nuisance and to save several noble’s livelihoods.
From the War Table, you are able to send spies to Orlais to investigate the matter.
Upon completing the War Table mission, Leliana’s spies uncover that the ship flies under no flag, but it docks on a shoreline on the outskirts of Orlais. The pirates have set up a building there that is heavily guarded by bodies. There is no word to behind who could possibly be orchestrating this.
After accepting the report, you are transported to the location that Leliana’s spies have marked.
After fighting through lines of pirates and breaking into the building at the head of the camp, the Inquisitor is faced with a very defensive and heavily armed Clove who has no intention of yielding. If the Inquisitor is human, they will instantly recognize Clove because they had a few interactions with her before she was sent to the Chantry. The Inquisitor then asks Clove why she has been plundering ships, and after receiving snark comments with little to no explanation, the Inquisitor then threatens to turn Clove into the nobles. Clove will then strike a bargain with the Inquisitor, saying that she will have her crew turn their sights to rival pirate gangs instead of noble fleets, but that she will need to join the Inquisition to access accurate maps and information.
The Inquisitor then has the choice of recruiting Clove, or judging her.

Personal quests: 
Quest 1: The Templar Twin: Clove approaches you, concerned because she hasn’t received a letter from her twin brother, Lark, for many weeks. She informs you that he is a part of the Templar order, and the last few letters she received he seemed erratic and unfocused, unable to complete the sentences that he wrote. Clove believes that something has happened within the Templar order, and asks that you pursue them with the intention to disband the Templars and find out what happened with her brother.
If chooses to pursue the Templars, Clove is a required companion:
Upon arriving at Therinfal Redoubt, Clove asks that you keep her identity a secret as not to alert the other Templars of her presence, thus making her or her brother a target. Once the Red Templars have been outed, Clove then pleads Barris for information regarding her brother, Barris explains that he hasn’t heard or seen Lark in weeks, and that he’s concerned that he may have turned.
After securing the area and being instructed by Barris to search for the Veterans and Lark, the party comes to the Officer’s Quarters, they will be immediately attacked by a turned Lark. The party will have to subdue him, then Clove will try to reason with her brother, who is able to break through the lyrium clouding his mind long enough to tell Clove that he loves her. He then lunges at Clove, and Clove deals the final blow.
If chooses to pursue the Mages:
The Inquisition will receive a letter from an escaped Templar, stating that he found Lark’s final letter to Clove clutched in his hand when he died. The anonymous Templar sends the letter and swears his loyalty to the Inquisition. Clove will then disappear until “In Your Heart Shall Burn”, she then requests that the Inquisition goes to gather Lark’s remains so that she can return them to her family. This can be done through the War Table.
Quest 2: Remains: After the Inquisition gather’s Lark’s remains, Clove asks that the Inquisitor join them in returning them to her family so that they may be able to bury them in the family cemetery. Both the Inquisitor and Clove are welcomed into the Trevelyan household, and Clove’s parents begin asking the Inquisitor how the war is going and how Clove has aided the Inquisition’s efforts. Clove begins to feel uneasy, states that it is time to go, and hands over the urn of remains to her father. Clove’s father then reaches for her, and restrains her, swearing to the Inquisitor that they will never see Clove again, and that if they try to recover her, the noble houses will bring the Inquisition down.  
Quest 3: Homecoming: Returning back to Skyhold, the Inquisitor immediately seeks out the advisors to see how best to retrieve Clove. Josephine, although upset, advises against retrieving her because it will jeopardize the Inquisition’s chances of getting to the Winter Ball. Cullen believes that the best option is force, and Leiliana advises stealth.
If the Inquisitor chooses either Cullen or Leiliana, they will invade the Trevelyan Chateau and will retrieve Clove. Upon returning to Skyhold, Clove will then be changed, realizing that people can be selfless in helping others. She pledges to do all that she can to help those in need that the Inquisition comes in contact with.
How to get their approval/disapproval:
Clove is distrustful of almost every order, but more particularly the Chantry and Templar Order. If the Inquisitor speaks out against either order, they will earn approval points. Clove feels uncomfortable around mages, therefore she tries to avoid them and thinks that they should remain in the Circle. This fear is rooted in her upbringing of the Chantry and her brother that dedicated himself to the Templar Order. Allying with the Mages will earn disapproval points from her. Spirits and The Fade is one of Clove’s biggest fears, and she isn’t sure of what to make of Cole when he first arrives, therefore she disapproves if you ask him to stay. Over time, she becomes accustomed to Cole, and sides with Varric when he pushes for the Inquisitor to make Cole human. Helping the less fortunate will yield some approval points from Clove, but not until after her personal quests has been completed.

Are they romanceable? 
Clove is romanceable, but will usually fend off any compliments with snide remarks. It isn’t until after all of her personal quests are completed that she approaches the Inquisitor and apologizes for how she acted when she first joined the Inquisition. She explains that her parents weren’t ones to show affection, therefore she was unaware of how to appropriately receive compliments and acts of kindness. She then asks if the Inquisitor would forgive her, and see where their relationship goes.
Can you have sex with them? 
Yes, but not until Trespasser. Clove states that “sealing their relationship” should wait until after the world is saved, although the Inquisitor and Clove share their first kiss during Inquisition. In Trespasser, Clove will meet you after you talk with the new Divine, and asks if you need to blow off some steam *wink wink*.
Are they open to polyamoury?
No, she isn’t.
If they can be romanced and are not, will they begin a relationship / relationships with other character(s)? If so, who? 
If not romanced by the Inquisitor, Clove will enter into a romance with Cullen.

Tithings: After Clove’s personal quests have been completed, she asks that the Inquisitor drop off 5 packages to refugees. She swears they’re tithings, not goods that she pirated.  
Opinions on mages / templars / how the world is going to shit? 
Clove believes the Templar order is corrupted, and thinks that it should be disbanded, this feeling is stronger after she loses contact with her twin. Since the Chantry is so closely tied to the Templar’s, she believes that religion and order have blinded every individual who ascribes to those orders.
Clove doesn’t disapprove of the mages, but she does fear them and believes that they are easily corruptible. Her fears are the remains of being forced into the Chantry, and she finds it hard to break out of this headspace. Dorian and Vivienne help her feel more comfortable, but Clove doesn’t trust Solas by any measure.
Something guaranteed to make them leave the party: 
If the Inquisitor fails to retrieve her brother’s remains, she will leave.
Special Events:
Imprisoned at Redcliffe: How is your Inquisitor holding up in Redcliffe, being slowly infected with red lyrium over the course of a year? 
Clove would turn completely numb and be nonresponsive, she would probably have lyrium growing out of her.
At the Winter Palace: Does your Inquisitor enjoy the party, any special events with them at the Palace? 
Clove tries to avoid the party at all costs because she comes into contact with noble houses that she formally knew. She asks that you talk softly around her to not draw attention, and that you call her “Claudette” so that no one will recognize her. At the end of the night, she will leave with pockets bulging of stolen jewelry and coins, taking a huge bite out of one of the pastries.
In the Fade: Your Inquisitor’s reaction upon entering the Fade? Archdemon’s taunt, and Inquisitor’s response? Epitaph on their grave? 
Clove would have believed that she were dreaming, and then she would proceed to freak out, especially when Divine Justinia appears.
Her epitaph would say: ‘tamed’
The Archdemon would taunt Clove by saying that she will never escape the Chantry, and that her parents will find her once the Inquisition ends.
Trespasser: What is your Inquisitor up to two years after Corypheus’ defeat? Any special events with them over the events of Trespasser? 
Clove will have broken up with Cullen, and vows that she can never enter a serious relationship again. She will have returned back to the seas, her name wielding enough weight that she was able to secure a boat and a crew. Although now, she’s plundering to help the poor, not just to upset her parents
Other Major Events: Any other major events that happen with them over the course of the main game? 
Clove becomes very close with Cassandra because they both could relate to the loss of a brother. Clove considers Cassandra the sister she never had, and they keep in touch long after the events of Trespasser.

New Scooby-Doo Mysteries 6-10
Episode 6(a): Ghosts of the Ancient Astronauts
Monster: Harriet Mullens, her parrot, and her zombies, her business partner, and his two henchmen
Interests: Fred and Velma are back! Velma’s uncle invited the gang to join him on an expedition. Looking for a baseball sized ruby known as the celestial orb. Uncle’s name is Cosmo. The ruby is actually a map to the Temple of Sirius, which was built by ancient astronauts... also haunted by ghosts of said ancient astronauts. Orb is in Cave of Death, cave is in the Valley of the Zombies. Daphne bribes Scooby and Shaggy with a few hundred Scooby Snacks. Monkey ends up stealing a box of Scooby Snacks from Scooby. Scooby grabs the orb from a statue, triggering all sorts of traps, like the room shaking causing a block to fall from the ceiling, a catapult robot (that could regenerate its boulder?), walls closing in on itself, and a gate closing. Zombies of the valley force the gang into a cobra infested cave. Velma and Daphne don’t seem to like snakes. ... gang defuses the snake situation with a hoe-down. Gang steals zombie cloths and pretend to be zombies to get away. Scrappy: “Let me at em! Let me at em!” Daphne: “You know, for once Scrappy, that might not be a bad idea” The temple has space suits left about the place, like sentries. Scooby stops to have a Scooby Snack break, a monkey steals them again. The villains find the treasure room of the temple with a giant egg encrusted with gems. Gang scares them away by pretending to be ghosts of ancient astronauts. Scrappy find an ancient laptop. Actual ghosts of the ancient astronauts show up , they have been trying to get their ship working for 6,000 years, Scooby figured it out in 6 seconds. Only two aliens were shown, but they had at least 6 suits in the temple, they also didn’t wear any suits when they left. Maybe they were earth suits? (Gosh this episode had weird D&D campaign vibes.)
Episode 7(a): The Night of the Living Toys
Monster: Evil Elf King
Interests: World biggest toy shop is in the middle of a spooky forest. Scrappy mentions Star Puppy again. Scooby-Doo Detective Agency. Legends say that the shop is built over the elf king’s castle. Lady puts ribbons all over Scrappy. Scrappy’s toxic masculinity throws a hissy fit over the bows.  Daphne bribes Scooby and Shaggy with a box of Scooby Snacks to get them to go down stairs, she doesn’t wait for the them to respond and just drops them down the stairs. 
Episode 7(b): South Pole Vault
Monster: Large Mad Sea Lion
Interests: The baby penguin from The Chipmunk Adventure is taking a bath. (Dang that movie is actually only 3 years away) Mystery Machine in Antarctica. Winter outfits. Penguin gets out the bath and Mystery Machine, driven by Shaggy, slashes it as it was drying itself off. Scrappy gets sealed in a safe. Sadly gets rescued. Crazy dude who hired faux-gang 2.0 to come down to Antarctica thinks a sea lion is the one sabotaging and stealing stuff. Scrappy bribes Shaggy and Scooby with fresh roasted Scooby Snacks. “...don’t make the sea lions suspicious” Daphne... wat? Scooby-Doo Where Are You.
Episode 8: A Halloween Hassle at Dracula's Castle
Monster: Ghost of Dr. Van Hellsing. (and a bunch of others, but they aren’t antagonistic), Chandra
Interests: It is Halloween! Scooby eats candy corn, caramel apple, chocolate bars, and popcorn balls, leaving nothing for Shaggy. It is Halloween night, but faux-gang 2.0 don’t have their costumes yet. Scrappy wants to be either a vampire, werewolf, or an alien from outer space. (I say all three at once. vampire alien werewolf from outer space, but is he bad?) Two aliens come out and laugh and nod to each other. ... Tiny Shop of Terror. (Dang, I make a bad joke about Little Shop of Horrors and the show just like no and sends me to my room 5 seconds latter). Dracula (but a different Dracula then last season) runs this costume shop with Igor. THE ALIENS ARE FRED AND VELMA JUST SCARING SHAGGY AND SCOOBY! Scooby is the millionth customer, they are invited to a Halloween party. Chandra the Unbelievably Remarkable and Quite Interesting Too will be there. Fred is dressed like a super hero, Shaggy is dressed as ... a cat? Velma is dressed like a witch (But not like the cool witch costume she had in ... Were Are You? where it matched her orange and red color scheme, this one is just blue/black and grey) Daphne is a masked superhero or thief? cat. Scrappy is a white rabbit (he is unhappy about this... even though I think he was willingly dressed as a pink rabbit before?) Scooby is dressed as a ghost with a flowerpot on his head. Dracula’s wife also a different Dracula’s wife. Frankenstein’s Monster, Mummy, Werewolf, and Creature from the Black Lagoon-type are here too. Scrappy says “What’s up Doc” Fred, Velma and Scooby try to unmask the real monsters. Invisible Man. The real monsters are all chanting “We want you” several times before the commercial break.. and several times after, before adding “to help us”, even got on their knees to beg. They retired from being scary and moved here to live a normal life. Scooby was not the millionth customer, it was a trick to get them there to get rid of the ghost. Daphne bribe Scooby with a box of Scooby Snacks, Wolfman eats them. Gang brought their normal cloths with them. Scooby find a magic amulet hidden in a wall, one that Chandra had been searching for centuries for. Dracula and his wife knew the amulet was there, hide it to prevent it from being used for evil. (So Dracula knew she wanted to amulet.. yet invited her into their home...) Vintage O negative RED JUICE. 
Episode 9(a): A Night Louse at the White House
Monster: Ghost of George Washington, Ghost of Ulysses Grant, and Ghost of Teddy Roosevelt. Ghost of Abe Lincoln
Interests: Formal outfits. VELMA! Velma gets interviewed, they kept that she is a researcher at NASA from the first episode. Velma helped planning the Space Station. Scooby is just going around eating everyone’s food. George Washington’s Ghost claims he has returned to claim his home (... but he never lived in the White House? I think he did oversee the start of its construction so maybe that is what he means?) Shaggy and Scooby sing the national anthem to George Washington, which confuses him (rightfully so because he would never have heard it.) Scooby’s mom and dad see Scooby is under arrest at the White House and rush to pack so they can go help him. Shaggy and Scooby beg to the president not to throw them in jail, president knows they didn’t do it and wants them to catch the ghost (because you know... secret service can’t do it?), and Scooby and Shaggy beg to go to jail so they don’t have to catch the ghost. Gang falsely accuse a woman and she gets arrested. Oh hey, they point out George Washington didn’t live in the White House. ... So there has been this brass eagle this entire episode that the gang got off the ghost and have been using as a clue. Apparently this eagle goes to the top of a flag pole in the area under the White House that unlocks the room where the NASA super computer is. We Natural Treasurein. The ghosts are two spies... and they somehow take a helicopter off the roof of the White House, Scooby and Shaggy hold on to the helicopter. The President, Velma, Daphne, and Scrappy take a second helicopter to give chase. Scooby’s parents show up in a third helicopter with his galoshes (Which has been a running joke a few times of cutting to them in a plane) Note: It is only 2 shoes, not four. The shoes fall on the heads of the spies, so mumsy-doo catches the crook. Scooby and Shaggy chow down.
Episode 10(a): Showboat Scooby
Monster: Ghost of Colonel Beauregard and Ghost of Magnolia
Interests: Dixie-Doo and the Showboat Seven. (... I think I actually remember this episode??) Scooby and Shaggy said there is no way they are going down to the engine room, fade out and they are with Daphne and Scrappy heading to the engine room. Dixie-Doo makes a bunch of fried chicken to motivate Scooby and Shaggy to find the ghost. Dixie-Doo dressed as the Ghost of Magnolia to trick the other ghost. Scooby and Shaggy eat chicken. The real ghosts show up, their misunderstandings in life finally cleared and are reunited. Dixie proposes that it is the most precious sight one has ever seen, but Scooby replies that the fried chicken drumstick is. 
Episode 10(b):The 'Dooby Dooby Doo' Ado
Monster: Gang of Thieves
Interests: Faux-gang 2.0 is in Vegas to see Scooby’s cousin Dooby-Dooby-Doo preform. Formal outfits, except Shaggy who is a tux t-shirt? Dooby-Dooby-Doo sings a song. Scooby plays decoy for Dooby-Dooby-Doo. Shaggy plays a record so Scooby can lip sync. it was Scrappy’s idea. Record skips. It keeps saying doobie over and over. It then goes chipmunk speed. Scooby starts singing himself. Scooby’s bad singing ended up saving the day. All three dogs sing a short finale, and Scooby breaks the lights of Vegas all around.

author’s note: y’all. it took me six attempts to write this. i was so unsatisfied with what i wrote every single time, and even this one i think isn’t up to the standard i’ve been trying to achieve lately, but i guess i’ve just been too tired to concentrate. hope you enjoy this though. maybe writing this fic rather than just giving up on it will help me get back my flow hahaha

You’d shown up in Wakanda battered and broken. You’d come to him desperate. For help, for training. Unbridled power nestled itself deep in your being and you’d presented an incredible danger back home. Upon your own choosing you’d come halfway across the world to a people you knew were capable of taming the beast that day by day tore painfully at your insides, and one you could only hold back with the slightest ounce of success, leaving you exhausted and bitter about the fact that unlike those around you, you couldn’t reign in the ability which you’d been born with and now want more than anything to go away.
T’Challa notes with ease that weariness in your gaze, the stress that permeates your veins, so much so that your shoulders sag despite doing your best to stand straight and at attention in the presence of a king. But he doesn’t fault you for it. He understands your frustration and he sees well enough in your eyes the burn of determination to do what you must to gain control of your power. You wouldn’t have come so far without being fully willing to do what they set out for you, after all.
The advisors had been against allowing you here, for they’re wary of outsiders, always have been, but T’Challa doesn’t listen. Though this is the first time any of them have met you, already he knows you on a deeper level than they. You both have abilities beyond the reaches of normal man and they are things which take much discipline and training to control. Even T’Challa finds himself learning still. So he sympathizes with your plight, and he offers you a place among their ranks, a refuge where you can learn.
You tell him there are records available on you. It only makes sense that tabs are kept on your kind, to ensure the safety of the regular, everyday citizens. The government couldn’t have the supers just running around as they pleased. T’Challa looks up those records later that night to familiarize himself with the more formal aspects of your identity and abilities. He’s not quite sure what to make of the level ten threat listed at the bottom of your dossier.

When he’s able, T’Challa observes your sessions. The trainers don’t go easy on you, but you expect that. You’re not foolish enough to think it’d be any different. You don’t falter in the midst of what they throw your way, what they challenge you to do. Most of it entails the goal of building rounded discipline, since control of all your faculties will help you better focus your powers. When it comes time to deal specifically with those abilities of yours, T’challa becomes more involved.
He does his best to quell the worries you have in the beginning stages of training. He empathizes with you on a level deeper than the others and you understand that just as well as he does, so at his words, soft and encouraging as they are, you relax. That’s a sign of progress all on its own, and T’Challa can’t help the smile that makes its way to his lips. It’s like taming a lion, he realizes. There’s a need to be slow and cautious yet understanding of the risks associated with the task. The hope within him for seeing your growth as the days go by glows brightly, and he wonders if you can see it, in his heart, in his eyes.

The flowers are in full bloom this time of the year. It makes walking through the courtyard garden a breathtaking experience. Most of the time it remains empty, however, because everyone in the palace is so busy. And when evening falls, most are too tired to entertain the thought of being out there when they could be asleep. for a long while it had only been T’Challa sacrificing sleep to come out here, to calm his mind and forget for a moment that the weight of a kingdom rests on his shoulders. Strong as he may be, he is not invincible. He is still a man.
But tonight when he goes there, he is not alone. You’re sitting on a stone bench by the fountain, and as he approaches you, the quiet gurgling of the water reaches his ears.
“May I?” he inquires, motioning to the spot next to you.
You smile and nod. “of course.”
He sits, feels the cool stone and the cool air. “Enjoying the flowers?”
“Just enjoying,” you respond quietly. “There’s much more out here to take in than just the flowers.”
T’Challa knows exactly what you mean. This kind of silence is hard to come by. The whole of Wakanda seems to be in slumber. Just how still the world can become at his hour never ceases to amaze him. The stars above are brilliant and as he looks up at them he can immediately spot a few constellations he’d been taught when he was just a young boy, a prince with his whole life ahead of him. One could almost swear that when the sun sets, they’ve entered a whole new dimension entirely, where time stops, giving the both of you a chance to just breathe. For it’s hard to be afforded something as simple as that in the day, when he is a king and when you are a woman learning more about the extent of your power and about the limits to which you are able to be pushed.
But right now you are [Name] and he is T’Challa and there is nothing else. You wish you could stay here forever.

T’Challa doesn’t really recall the exact moment you’d come to fully control your abilities. There hadn’t been a single defining moment to mark the occasion, it had just… become apparent to him one day. You were far from the person you’d been when you first came to him in search of a solution. The time from then until now had been a blur. One day you were there and then the next you were here. The practiced precision makes you formidable. You’d earned the respect of those around you, who’d watched you build yourself up from basically nothing.
Lingering in the air is the subject of you returning back home, to join the rest of your team, take up your rank among them. You don’t bring it up so T’Challa doesn’t either because if he’s being honest he’d much rather you stay, and he hopes you feel the same way too. You’re the addition he never knew he needed. You’d begun to fight alongside him and his warriors as a way to pay back for your time spent here. And you’ve been a loyal companion, a good friend.
The air is much colder now and the flowers have hidden themselves away. Yet the two of you still find yourselves in the garden, for these moments are a treasure you will not so easily squander. T’Challa is used to this shift in the weather, so he doesn’t have a problem. When he looks at you, you seem to be handling yourself just fine. He supposes it’s that fire which burns steady in you that keeps you warm.
You meet his gaze and hold it wordlessly. Many a night like this had transpired in silence, for no words were necessary between like souls. But tonight T’Challa breaks this routine.
“Have you given any thought to returning home?”
You shrug. “A little. Have I started to annoy you?” you tease, corner of your lips upturned in a playful smirk.
T’Challa chuckles. “Of course not.”
“Do you want me to stay?”
“You’re welcome here for as long as you please.”
“No, I mean, do you want me to stay, T’Challa?”
He doesn’t answer right away, because encompassed in his potential response is many different implications, some of which he’d considered but never fully came to terms with and to decide upon them now is overwhelming. The way you look at him is gentle and patient, as it has always been, and it is the way he’s always looked at you, but suddenly this once familiar gaze you cast upon him feels foreign and he is nervous and in all his time as king, this is probably the most difficult thing he’s ever had to do.
His position dictates he be selfless. He puts his kingdom before himself, the needs of his people and their safety always at the front of his mind. What’s best for them. What’s best for you. You’d come here to train, and your training is complete. The logical next step would be to go home, where your team is. Because they need you. But as T’Challa sits here now, next to you at such a late hour, so deep in the night as it is that it’s like being in a different world, he admits that he needs you too. But you can’t be in two places at once. And he understands that, and at the end of the day, it is others before him, and letting you go, as much as he doesn’t want to, is the right course of action.
Despite this line of reasoning, he nods his head in response to your question, responds with a curt “yes.”  It’s dark so it could just be his eyes deceiving him, but he swears you look so happy, and that alone keeps him from contemplating too hard about why he’d thought one thing then done the complete opposite, without meaning to.
When he cradles your jaw, your skin almost feels warm in spite of the cold. And he smiles because at his touch, you relax, and he knows then that with him is where you feel safest. Not just in Wakanda, or in the palace, but with him. As T’Challa, and not as a king or the Black Panther. And it speaks volumes because no one knows him as deeply as this, but then you’d come along and changed that and he realizes the universe works in strange ways because his kindred spirit had been halfway across the globe yet you’d still managed to end up here.
Your lips against his are as soft as the way you look at him. admitting he’d wanted you to stay had felt selfish on his part, but it is apparent now that you don’t want to leave and so that guilt dissipates. His heart is gladdened and makes such a thing known by squeezing tightly in his chest but it is a good ache and all T’Challa can think of now is just how much he loves you. You’re the flower that’s bloomed in the depths of winter and he is captivated by your mind and will and soul. There’s a flurry swirling behind your [eye color] eyes and while he can’t read your thoughts, he can read the expression on your face, and it is content and overjoyed. All feels right as you take in each other’s presence and T’Challa wants nothing more than for this moment to be frozen for all eternity because it’s so perfect it doesn’t feel real. He never wants to let you go. In a hushed whisper you tell him you don’t want him to let you go either. And he won’t. He swears it.

Iida Tenya: Takumi greatly admires Iida for his enthusiasm, leadership, and intelligence. So much so that he has developed a crush on the said male, which only is noticeable to those who actually squint. However Takumi would never admit it, he gets flustered and denies his feelings when someone brings it up as he wants to be the one to tell Iida himself, but he just doesn’t know how yet. Iida is completely clueless to this crush and just sees Takumi as extremely friendly.
Mina Ashido: They get along very well and Mina was actually the first friend he made in the class, he even sees her as a sister. When he’s bored, he’ll often play with her hair or let her do the same.
Izuku Midoriya: Takumi respects Izuku for being so ambitious and sees him as a true future hero. They tend to only make small talk, but they still work well together.
Ochako Uraraka: Takumi really enjoys talking with Uraraka because of how cheerful she is and feels as though he could talk to her for hours. He’s super interested about her quirk and has even said it really fits her.

Mashirao Ojiro: Takumi enjoys his company, although sometimes it’ll get awkward once they run out of things to talk about. He also likes to play with his tail, with permission of course.
Tsuyu Asui: He doesn’t mind socializing with her every now and then, he’s also fascinated with her quirk and hopes to see her become a popular hero in the future. Mezou Shouji: Although it mostly goes unseen, he talks a lot with him and admires his quirk. Shouji’s calm and friendly attitude is what really drew Takumi in to talk with him so much, he trusts him enough to spill out his secrets to him, he’s a good shoulder(s?) to lean on. Takumi’s really curious about what’s under his mask but doesn’t have the guts to ask.
Hanta Sero: These two can hold a long conversation, and Takumi does his best to defend him when someone makes fun of his quirk, saying if his quirk wasn’t great then he wouldn’t be in U.A.. Takumi appreciates his modesty but didn’t expect his blunt way of speaking when they first met.
Kyouka Jirou: Takumi considers her lucky for having such a cool quirk, and has told her that many of times. He was a bit scared of her at first, but that went away when he realized how protective she is of her friends and that she doesn’t mean real harm.
Momo Yaoyorozu: He has plenty of respect for her and really likes her skills in leadership. He has once accidentally blurted out in front of Momo that he shipped her and Jirou together, he was thankful Jirou wasn’t around, but knew he deserved the scolding he got from Momo instead.
Tooru Hagakure: Takumi feels bad when he forgets she’s there and will immediately apologize for it. The two are surprisingly sociable together.
Denki Kaminari: Takumi admits that Denki is definitely one of the most fun people in the class besides Kirishima. They get along pretty well, but Takumi worries over him when he shocks himself stupid.
Yuuga Aoyama: Just like Tooru, he tends to forget Aoyama is there, but he appreciates his company. Takumi also likes the French terms he uses.
Eijirou Kirishima: Takumi really enjoys being around Kirishima because of his chill and caring attitude, he can never say no to an invitation from him.
Kouji Kouda: He finds his quiet nature adorable, and respects him when he doesn’t want to talk. He absolutely adores the rabbit Kouda keeps with him.
Fumikage Tokoyami: They’re both on good terms with each other, and Takumi likes to play with Dark Shadow as long as Tokoyami doesn’t mind.
Rikidou Satou: They don’t get to talk very much, but Takumi tries his best.
Shouto Todoroki: Surprisingly, he’s the only person Takumi hasn’t talked to, only because he’s more scared of him than he is of Bakugou. Todoroki’s power intimidates him immensely, but Takumi promised himself to talk to him one day.
Shota Aizawa: Takumi didn’t believe he was a teacher at first, and was shocked upon realization that he was. Although Aizawa doesn’t look the part, Takumi believes he’s a good teacher because of how he pushes everyone beyond their limits.
Summarized Biography
It’s unknown when exactly Takumi was abandoned by his parents, but he speculates it was around the time he was four and hadn’t developed or figured out his quirk yet. Most of his memories are fuzzy past that point, but he was told to not worry about them. His adoptive family brought him in with open arms, as they’ve been wanting a child for a while because his adopted mother was unable to have children.
Takumi wasn’t a problematic child and did well in school, he had no problem making friends with other kids. He was bummed out however when kids in his class already had their quirks, which made him believe he’d never have one. It took him another month to figure out he had a quirk, with much support from his parents and teachers. Although his quirk wasn’t as flashy as the other kids, he didn’t complain, Takumi was glad to have it.
After receiving his quirk he began to think about his birth parents, he hadn’t known why they left him, but he assumed it was because they didn’t think he had a quirk. After that thought, he planned to become a great hero, to show his parents he wasn’t quirkless. Takumi then worked hard on perfecting his quirk, taking an art class to improve his drawings and pushed himself at home to figure out his limits.
Once getting into middle school, he lost contact with his friends from elementary, them either moving or going to a different school. This however allowed him to focus on himself and his quirk, eventually taking gymnastics to increase his strength and flexibility. He sees his middle school years as his worst school years, only because he was picked on due to his feminine frame.
Takumi had passed the entrance exam with his drawing quirk, he earned 45 hero points and 18 rescue points. He held his head high as he entered U.A., mentally praising himself for making his first goal.

   Takumi has the ability to bring his drawings to life, and he can control the drawings to an extent depending on if that drawing is friendly or not. His quirk’s full potential is still a mystery to himself as he is still practicing and trying to find out new techniques he can use in a fight. So far, Takumi’s quirk is able to bring any drawing of his to life, no matter what the creature is, even if he were to make a drawing of himself. The current disadvantages of his quirk is the time limit he has when controlling them and that the mistakes he makes on a drawing stays with it once it’s been brought to life, which is a problem when he’s rushing to finish a drawing in a fight and is bound to make a handful of mistakes.
Quirk Advantages:
His drawings can last for however long he needs them or until they are destroyed.
He can use any type of material as a canvas, basically if he can draw on it, he can use it to bring his drawings to life.
How big his creation turns out to be depends on how big he draws it.
As long as the drawing wasn’t destroyed, he can re-use it as many times as needed.
He can save his friendly drawings to use in battle so he can summon more drawings and not have to worry about controlling them.
He’s able to make a drawing come to life even at a far away distance.
Whatever material he decides to draw on is what the drawing will be made of, so drawing on paper will make his creation made of paper, or if he draws on rock then it will be made of rock, etc
Quirk Disadvantages:
If he makes a mistake on his drawing it will stay on it when he makes it come to life. Ex: If he draws a cat and forgets to draw a leg, then the cat will have three legs, and he can’t fix it once it’s brought to life, he’ll have to discard the old drawing and create a new one.
When he brings his drawings to life it leaves a hole on whatever he drew on, which can be bad if he has limited materials and uses up a whole page.
However many drawings he can bring to life depends on the size of his canvas.
If he decides not to control his drawings then they will do their own thing, and whether or not it’ll do good is completely random. This can be fixed.
He can only control one drawing at a time. This can be fixed with practice.
He gets a massive headache from controlling his drawings for too long, the max he can control them is 30 minutes. This can be fixed with practice.
If his drawing is damaged before it comes to life (Ex: his drawing is torn, burned, wet, smudged, etc.) he can’t use it and will have to draw it all over again.
The drawing MUST be drawn by him to make it come to life, he can’t make anyone else’s drawings come to life.
His drawings are not able to have powers. (Like control fire, water, etc.)
Equipment:
Mask: Hides his identity, and also protects his eyes from anything that would be eye irritant in the air.
Suit: His entire suit is made of many layers of material that enables him to draw on it in case his notebook runs out or he needs a bigger canvas, includes a built in fire sketchbook on left arm.
Utility belt: Holds all of his drawing utensils including pens, pencils, markers, paintbrushes and more.
Gloves and Boots: Both are made of a non abrasive and non smudge eraser material.
Rollerblades: Retractable rollerblades on the bottom of his boots for quicker maneuverability while drawing, including rubber stoppers on the front. The skates can also be used to draw on the ground.
Side rings: It’s how he removes his suit, he’s able to add more layers of paper if needed, and they also can be used to hold certain things like rings or cuffs.
Hero Costume Advantages:
Utility belt filled with different drawing materials, extra paint and ink included.
Sketchbook also removable if he needs to get rid of the extra weight.
The sketchbook is fire proof
He can draw on the ground with his rollerblades.
With the many layers of paper on his suit, he’s able to endure some pretty tough hits, it works as a vest towards any physical attacks.
He can also pack a good punch because of the thick eraser gloves, and a hard kick with his boots.

The suit easily overheats him because of all of the layers of paper, as well as the boots and gloves.
The suit is heavy and makes him slower, even with the rollerblades.
It’s easier to make mistakes while drawing if he’s skating around.

His left hand is basically useless with the sketchbook on his arm.

He found out about his quirk a day before his birthday, he drew a cat on the wall and brought it to life, which left a hole. Despite the cat shaped hole in the wall, his parents were proud.
He secretly ships people in his classroom, going so far as to call himself the class’s matchmaker, all of his ships are drawn in a separate sketchbook and they’re all chibis holding hands.
He’s extremely self conscious about looking like a girl, being afraid that the guys will be attracted to his looks instead of his personality.
There’s been many times where a guy attempted to hit on him only to not know he was a male, which all of those experiences have went horribly wrong.
There was a time he dressed up as a female to trick someone, but he doesn’t like to talk about it so the details are unknown.
He keeps a picture of his birth parents under his headband.
He has severe separation issues and can’t be left alone for too long, he’s capable of having a panic attack due to this, however he’ll prevent this by summoning one of his drawings to cuddle him.

He’s actually drawn himself and made it come to life to take his place in school once, the only reason he got caught was because he forgot to draw the mole on his face and his mother noticed it after his clone came home.
He secretly is a sucker for romance films and books, there’s a whole stash in his room under his bed.
He likes when others play with his hair, as long as no one puts it up into pigtails, he’s ok with it.
He once kicked Mineta across the room for making a sexual comment about Mina, he didn’t apologize and said he’d do it again if he had to.
Often times he’ll train with his dad and doesn’t give up until he has knocked him down at least once.
He really likes peaches because his dad usually takes the seeds and carves them into animals, Takumi’s first one was a lion.
His aunt and cousins have a snake related quirk, and he’s deathly afraid of snakes, but loves his family no less.
It’s almost impossible to get him near snakes, especially his family’s snakes, he describes snakes as weird and slithery and usually ignores any explanation on why they’re not so bad.
His cousin was the one who taught him how to skate, which he then added onto his costume.

Room (2015)
Five-year-old Jack's whole world is a confined, 11-by-11-foot locked space crammed with pictures, toys, and books--the Room. Of course, his young mother is in the room too, taking care of her only son, and making sure nothing bad happens to him--especially when Old Nick pays them a visit, and Jack starts hearing creaking sounds. However, one day, Ma says that there is a place outside their chamber where houses, trees, people, and dogs are real; a marvellous realm where the air is fresh, and the wide sky is blue.
Wonder (2017)
August Pullman has been homeschooled due to some complicated health issues related to a dramatic cranio-facial abnormality and the rigorous surgery schedule that comes with it. But by the time August turns ten, his parents are beginning to think about the big picture a.k.a. long-term. They have realized that Auggie not only needs to learn more than his mom can teach him, but he also needs to learn to navigate a world that isn't always kind to those who are different.
Enter: middle school.
At Beecher Prep in Manhattan, fifth grade is the first year of middle school, so it's a good time for August to plunge into the mainstream. At first Auggie dreads the idea of so many kids staring at him. And who can blame him? But when his mom tells him about the chicks (no, not the beautiful ten-year-old babes—the actual chickens that hatch in the science classroom incubator), he's kind of psyched.
Mr. Tushman, the principal of Beecher Prep (and the butt of many a weak joke), arranges a small welcome committee for August. He asks three kids he has heard are really nice to befriend Auggie, show him around, and help him transition into school life. Charlotte is polite and pleasant, Jack is reserved but nice, and Julian is an unkind creep pretty much from the get-go. Oh good.
The welcome wagon being an imperfect entity, Auggie finds himself sitting alone at lunch the first day of school. Out of the blue though, a really nice girl named Summer sits down and strikes up conversation. She first sits with him because she feels sorry for him, but it doesn't take long for the two kids to become friends. Outside of lunch, Jack's desk is next to Auggie's in almost every class. And once he gets used to Auggie's face, Jack realizes that Auggie is a cool, smart, fun kid, plus a really good friend. So while he's not exactly Mr. Popular, Auggie has made a couple of solid friends.
But Jack lacks self-confidence and the courage to stick with his convictions, and finds himself badmouthing Auggie with the best of 'em. Except he doesn't realize that Auggie is sitting at the next desk over, wearing a Halloween mask. It's a devastating betrayal, one that sends Auggie bolting for the bathroom in tears and swearing never to return to school. Luckily his big sister, Via, prods him into returning, saying that learning to cope with the awful days is part of growing up and facing life. Plus she threatens to rat him out. She's still his sister, after all.
Auggie goes back to school, but drops Jack like the proverbial hot potato, leaving his former friend hurt and bewildered. Of course Jack eventually figures out where things went off the rails, and when he does, he feels like a super jerk—and shortly thereafter a showdown between Jack and mean-kid Julian ends up with somebody missing a baby tooth.
Jack and August make up and it seems like life is getting back on track… at least until Jack returns from winter break and finds himself suddenly a total social reject. Julian has turned the entire class against Jack for his decision to remain friends with Auggie "The Freak" Pullman. Jack's loyalty is truly put to the test now, as he suffers social isolation on par with Auggie's. If he ditches Auggie, he gets to hang with the popular crowd—but Auggie and Summer are pretty much the only kids still speaking to him, giving him support even though he's let Auggie down in the past.
The climax of the story comes when the fifth graders are away at nature camp. Auggie and Jack are accosted in the woods one night by some big seventh-graders looking for trouble, and Auggie is verbally and physically assaulted for no reason other than his appearance. A few other boys from Auggie's class circle back to see what's going on, but when they step in to help, the situation explodes into a scuffle. Sweatshirts are ripped, elbows get scraped, and most painfully, Auggie's expensive hearing aids are lost in the night.
Auggie is terrified and hurt, but exhilarated too. Even in pain and in tears, he realizes that boys who have until this point either actively shunned or passively ignored him have, on this occasion, stood up for him and protected him, and have pledged to continue to do so. The injustice of the cruelty toward August catalyzes a permanent change for the better in his classmates' attitudes.
This turning point signals the end of Auggie's painful isolation. His peers finally accept him as one of their own—as a kid with a heart, a brain, and a great sense of humor in addition to his weird face. Auggie's fifth grade year culminates in victory, and he is admired by students and teachers alike for his courage, his perseverance in the face of difficulty, and the quiet strength of his character.
Lion (2016)
In 1986, Saroo was a five-year-old child in India of a poor but happy rural family. On a trip with his brother, Saroo soon finds himself alone and trapped in a moving decommissioned passenger train that takes him to Calcutta, 1500 miles away from home. Now totally lost in an alien urban environment and too young to identify either himself or his home to the authorities, Saroo struggles to survive as a street child until he is sent to an orphanage. Soon, Saroo is selected to be adopted by the Brierley family in Tasmania, where he grows up in a loving, prosperous home. However, for all his material good fortune, Saroo finds himself plagued by his memories of his lost family in his adulthood and tries to search for them even as his guilt drives him to hide this quest from his adoptive parents and his girlfriend. Only when he has an epiphany does he realize not only the answers he needs, but also the steadfast love that he has always had with all his loved ones in both worlds.

The ending scene because I feel happy for the main character and all the characters in the movie were happy and cheering to him also he gained a new achievement through all that ups and down. (about WONDER)

Jack Will, in first part he was friendly to the main character and he even defended him even though he backstabbed the main character but after that he regretted it and good development came to his character like he actually like the main character him being a real friend. (about WONDER)
4. Did anything that happened in the movie remind you of something that has occurred in your own life or that you have seen to others?
Yes, about the bullying I saw someone picking a fight to other kid and I have a supportive family that always give me hope and determination.
