╰─➤ 💌 ₍₁₎ confession time!! i know fuck all about argenti but he's a pretty pretty man so i will write about him in this. same for luka. sorry if i get their characterisations wrong i'm going off of vibes alone. will i be adding them to my masterlist though? probably not. ps new layout yayyy :3
Tumblr media
ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 ARGENTI.
-he's considered a role model within the school as not only head boy, but one of the best students in the year with the highest grades
-and of course, on top of all that, he just has to be unbelievably pretty, too
-a very good candidate to be your hallway crush
-you get a little giddy every time you walk past him, especially whenever he greets you in passing
-much to your delight, it had been happening a lot more often recently
-you had whipped out your phone to text your friend about this little crush of yours, not looking where you were going as you blindly navigated the school's hallways
-and, just your luck, you bump straight into something before you can even send a single tect
-your phone clatters to the floor- you have a screen protector, thank god, and you duck down to grab it, offering an apology to whoever it was profusely.
what you didn't expect, however, was for the other person to also bend down, your hand brushing theirs as you both reach for your fallen belongings
-"oh! sorry-"
-you finally look up, stunned to see the very subject of your desires before you
-argenti merely smiles, offering you your phone which you take from his grasp bashfully
-he then offers you his hand, and if you weren't blushing before then you were now as he helps you stand back up
"thank you..."
-"don't mention it." he smiles down at you kindly, and you suddenly feel very self-conscious
-"though, you should probably be more careful when texting and walking at the same time. even though it is cute."
-he leaves you to short circuit with a simple wave, continuing on his way as you look down at your phone with shaking hands as you finally manage to send a new text to your friend
you: HE CALLED ME CUTE !!!!
ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 WELT.
-he's a somewhat elusive crush of yours
-you know that he does art, and as a result spends most of his spare time and lunches in an art room
-the very same one that you had as a homeroom in mornings before class
-there's no real rule about who can and can't use the rooms at lunch, but it still feels taboo to come in there, especially since you aren't an art student
-you had an essay due next period, and your school's library wasn't exactly known for its quiet atmosphere, so you had to seek out another place to get your head down and finish your assignment
-upon seeing welt, you realise that may be easier said than done
-he isn't being loud, no, but he's distracting in other ways
-he himself is concentrating on his own work, some sculpture that he's shaping out of clay
-the crease in his brows is cute, you think to yourself
-you also feel like a perv for staring at his hands and forearms for so long as they shape the clay, but you weren't going to tell anybody that
-you finally pick your seat at the same table he's on, taking way longer than necessary to unpack all of your stuff, any excuse to keep looking at him
-and even as you got to writing, you couldn't help your wandering eyes from drifting away from your notebook at to him in all of his glory
-it was mortifying to see that he was already looking at you, an amused smile on his face as you flushed from getting caught
-he merely chuckled to himself, his deep voice sending butterflies to your stomach as he returned to his sculpture
-you'd have to ask for an extension next period
ᯓ ᡣ𐭩 LUKA.
-this crush creeps up on you out of nowhere
-your school had a lot of volunteering programs with the local neighbourhood, and you thought that you might as well sign up to one
-it would look good on your college applications, after all
-you weren't too sure what to sign up for, ultimately choosing a daycare for children
-there weren't any other names on the signup sheet, so you assumed that you would be the only one from your school helping out
-but on the first day, you see a guy roughly your age also waiting outside the building, and you decide to be friendly
-"are you here to volunteer as well?"
-the guy turns to you, and you realise that he has a really nice smile
-"yeah, i am! my name's luka, by the way"
-he's got a really nice voice, too
-and the rest is, well, history
-he's upbeat, and fun, and while the volunteering was never awful to begin with, luka's presence just made it that much better
-so really, you should have expected your friendship with him to ever so gradually begin to evolve into something deeper
-you couldn't pinpoint exactly when it became a crush, but you suspect that it had something to do with his insistence on walking you home to make sure you got there safely
-and how in the colder winter nights when the sun is already down before you two even begin to walk back, and you're trying to freeze in silence, luka decides to bring your attempt at being a martyr to an abrupt end by lacing his fingers with yours
-his hands are warm, and it's a welcome addition to your life, much like the rest of him

your soulmate is perfect in every way, or so you've been told, and you're sick of waiting to find out. everyone says meeting your soulmate is like finding the other half you never had, so when the yearning had started when you were a teen, you were eager to find him and put an end to your constant ache. it would be impossible to know who it was until your seal appeared on your skin. where it would land and what it would look like, you weren't sure, but you knew it couldn't come fast enough. in theory, he would complement you in every way. you imagine someone quiet, a little shy, maybe. someone thoughtful, someone patient and understanding. you just hope to god he's everything you wish him to be.
-
beomgyu has had just about enough of soulmate talk, but unfortunately for him, it's inescapable. when he turned 13, the yearning had already started for most of his peers. when his friends asked if he felt similarly, he simply shrugged his shoulders with a smug little grin while musing that he might not even have a soulmate — maybe he was just partnerless. some of his friends, like taehyun and kai, were appalled by this, almost pitying him. half of his heart was missing, after all. some of his other friends, however, were a bit jealous. their reasoning was "it'd be nice to not be chained down by someone you don't even know". he agreed with the latter sentiment, having seen the effects of being chained to somebody firsthand.
he remembers watching his mother wither away. she had loved his father more than anyone, even him, and got scraps of affection in return. they weren't soulmates — her perfect other half had died not long after she met him, but his father became her second and last love. he didn't concern himself with soulmate talk and eventually married beomgyu's mother. they were happy, very happy, until beomgyu was around 10 and his father met his so-called soulmate. he remembers the sheer despair on his mother's face as she found out her husband was leaving seemingly out of nowhere, her life uprooted because of a fucking pattern imprinted on her lover's skin.
they weren't soulmates, but beomgyu watched his mother die a little every day until she finally passed. dying of a broken heart was the only way he could explain what happened to her, and she did all that for a man who wasn't even her soulmate. if soulmates could make you kill someone innocent for your love, he didn't want to find his at all. if love could make you abandon everything you've ever known, well, he simply didn't want to know what it felt like.
-
college is a turning point for you, you feel. you had a good time in high school, but you're nearing the average age of the seal and you're more than prepared to find your special someone. you couldn't know for sure, but you have a feeling none of the boys in your high school were your other half.
"why don't you date just to get some experience?" sumin asks somewhat exasperatedly. you had rejected yet another guy with seemingly good intentions for practically no reason.
"i don't know, i guess i just don't want to waste my time on anybody else when i already know my soulmate is out there waiting on me," you shrug. "i want to save all my firsts for him."
"you're hopeless, you know?" she snorts.
"yeah," you smile, "but he's probably the same way." she teases you good-naturedly for this, but even she agrees that you'll most likely fall for a guy just as hopelessly in love as you are. he wouldn't even have to try very hard — you're willing to put in however much effort it takes to find him and love him unconditionally. all he needs to do is reciprocate and you would do the rest.
-
unfortunately for you, time has passed and you're nearing the end of your time in college with no soulmate in sight. you'd be more upset about it if you weren't so fucking busy with school work and trying to line up a job post-graduation. you're so wound up lately that sumin practically forces you to let loose and go to a house party. needless to say, they aren't particularly your scene. you like to drink just as much as anybody else does, you guess, but that doesn't mean you want to reek of shitty beer, sweat, and premarital sex, which will undoubtedly be the case once you step into a college house party. still, she is as persistent as you are exhausted and you're too defeated to fight.
you're fairly bored after fifteen minutes or so of loitering around all the action, never really joining in on the antics of your friends and all the other party goers unless you absolutely have to. you're absentmindedly kicking around a beer can when it rolls away, straight in front of a couch. you go to kick it again when you look up and see him.
you can't keep your eyes off of him. you've found people attractive before, but he's probably the most beautiful person — maybe even the most beautiful thing — you've ever seen. your heart almost stops when you look at him.
in that moment, the idea that he could be the one blooms in your head and you can't help but stare. you don't how long you keep your eyes locked on him, but he eventually looks up at you and his eyes widen for a split second. you're almost positive he feels what you feel, but not even a moment later, he pulls out what you can only describe as a lascivious smirk as his eyes travel up and down your figure. you feel like meat on display rather than his sacred other half. before you know it, a girl is sliding into his lap and he's turning away from you and planting a heavy kiss on her glossy lips while groping her ass.
"that's beomgyu," sumin says and you're snapped back into reality. "he's really hot, but he's slept with pretty much every girl here."
you're somewhat disappointed before you realize you must be mistaken. there's no way a man like that could be your soulmate. you strangle the bud of hope in your heart mercilessly because your soulmate is somewhere waiting for you and you can't afford to lose him over some pretty boy with community dick.
-
you said you'd avoid him, but beomgyu is the first one you notice when you walk into the first class of your final semester as a college student. his eyes lock with yours and you hurriedly avert your gaze before sliding into the nearest seat.
"hi," a sweet voice from next to you says. you jolt and turn to look at him.
"sorry, i didn't mean to scare you," he laughs.
"it's okay, i'm just a little jumpy, i guess," you grin sheepishly.
"i'm soobin," he smiles and you can see his dimples come out. you briefly wonder if he'd mind if you poked them, but that sounds weird even to you.
you introduce yourself and find you're forgetting all about beomgyu as you and soobin begin to chat. he's funny in a dorky kind of way, and you can't help but giggle at the seemingly unassuming things he says.
-
beomgyu notices you when you first walk in because of course he does, but he sees you sit next to soobin, a guy he met in freshman year, and feels a sense of loss he's never felt before. he watches as you grin and giggle at whatever lame jokes the boy next to you is almost certainly making and his eyes darken. yeonjun, his longtime friend and desk mate, notices his sour mood and asks what's wrong. beomgyu can't really answer that question. even he himself doesn't know why he feels so against you, a stranger, spending time with another guy, but he chalks it up to the fact that he thinks you're hot and would very much like to get in your pants as soon as possible.
he supposes he should have done so when he first saw you, but duty called when one of his frequent flyers sat in his lap and he couldn't very well ignore the way her chest swayed in front of him. he doesn't think about it much more deeply than that. he doesn't want to think about how your eyes seem to indicate that you know him — have known him — and he feels the same way about you. he toys with the idea of maybe asking you if you two knew each other at some point, but deep down, he knows he'd never forget you if he actually had known you before. he tries not to think about why that is.
-
a few weeks into the semester, you've sat next to soobin every day and it's safe to say you have a tiny little crush on him, but you know he's not your soulmate when he rolls his sleeves up one day and you spot a green seal on his wrist. you roll up your own sweater, just to be sure, but there's no pretty green tattoo to match. he spots your empty wrist and the expression on his face looks an awful lot like disappointment.
"i don't really care about that stuff, you know?" he whispers as your professor drones on and on about something you've stopped listening to long ago.
"really?" you ask a little too eagerly before reining yourself back in. what are you doing? you have a soulmate and he's waiting for you.
"really, really," he smiles. you prepare to launch into a long speech about the sanctity of soulmates and how you're waiting devoutly for yours, but instead of pushing the subject any further, he simply turns to the professor again and you're left reeling.
you're pulled back to your senses when the professor announces everyone will be paired up with a partner for an assignment. you and soobin grin at each other and are ready to begin prepping for the project when your professor adds that the partners will be completely random. when he calls soobin's name, your fingers are crossed in hopes that you'll somehow still get lucky, but he ends up pairing him with another classmate named yeonjun. you start getting a sinking feeling, something akin to dread, and you don't know why. clarity overwhelms you when you register that the person your professor opts to pair you with is none other than choi beomgyu.
-
beomgyu is late to your first library appointment together and though you didn't expect anything less from him, you're still annoyed when he arrives nearly 15 minutes after the scheduled time with nothing but a mumbled "sorry" and a cheeky grin.
"it's fine," you offer, but you both know you're irritated. you're a little bit of a pushover by nature and it's like he could immediately sniff it out. he doesn't even make an attempt to seem like he cares, though.
"are you ready to get started?" you ask.
"of course, what are you waiting for?" you roll your eyes at his shamelessness, frustration melting away without you intending for it to. you're kind of shy, but his presence is so comforting, it's like you've known him for years, so you dare to say your next words without much thought.
"you, smartass." he looks a little appalled at your words but he registers it as a joke when he notices the corner of your lips struggling not to pull themselves up, eyes gazing mischievously from beneath your eyelashes. not for the first time, he thinks you're really pretty. but he, not for the first time, says nothing.
-
after a few meet ups, you realize being with beomgyu is easier than you thought it would be. sure, he's incredibly obnoxious, but he's surprisingly easy to talk to. he invites you to his apartment one day and, as if he senses your apprehension before you can even feel it yourself, he states his roommate will be there as well. you try not to read too much into it, but you have a feeling he's implying that he won't make any moves on you. you're grateful for this, but unexpectedly a bit disappointed. as for why that is, you don't venture to guess.
being in his apartment is a new feeling entirely. it feels oddly... intimate somehow when you enter his bedroom and see all of his posters, his messy bed, and some vinyls stacked up against his record player. he nonchalantly puts one on and you gasp when you recognize the song.
"i love this band," you say quickly. his eyebrows raise in interest.
"you like them too?"
"of course i do! i've loved them since i was a teenager," you laugh.
"do you like their newer stuff?"
you wrinkle your nose a little bit at this, your answer evident. he laughs his signature squeaky laugh at this and you can't help but stare in awe at his dimples, like whiskers, appearing on his cheeks. you clear your throat awkwardly and begin to talk about the project.
after a few hours and some really great progress, you find you're a little hungry. you're about to mention this, but beomgyu beats you to the punch.
"i'm starving. want pizza?" you smile when you realize you're on the exact same page.
"thought you'd never ask."
-
you're sitting on his couch now, wolfing down your third piece of pizza while beomgyu slurps the cheese off of his. he's talking about absolutely nothing, but he's still easily drawing more and more laughter out of you with his antics. you tell him to stop because you hate your laugh, but he's addicted to the sound. he wants to keep you laughing. words like "always" and "forever" briefly flicker across his mind, and usually he would force them out with conviction, but he's having such a good time hearing you giggle he can't pay attention to much else. he never says it or gives any indication he feels that way, though. he just tells you "i can't help that i'm so fucking funny and charming and beautiful." you lightly smack the back of his head and he's giggling with you.
things are going remarkably well when his roommate emerges from his room and says a few of his friends will be coming over soon. you don't particularly want to hang around them and you certainly don't want to overstay your welcome, but beomgyu, for reasons unknown, insists that you stick around.
"we can just relax for a bit then get back to work. c'mon, don't you wanna finish this thing?"
"fine, fine, fine. i'll stay." his face lights up at your words and you can't help but blush a little bit at this. why he's so excited, you have no clue. what you also don't know is he has no idea why he's so excited, either.
a few minutes later, a few guys enter the apartment boisterously and you can't help but internally regret sticking around. beomgyu, almost preternaturally, senses how uncomfortable you are and makes an effort to introduce you and include you in conversation. things are going well until one of the guys, whose name you don't know but whose face seems vaguely familiar, makes an offhanded comment.
"y'know, gyu, she's actually very smart. maybe you'll actually pass." the entire group bursts into laughter and joke about his supposed stupidity and laziness.
"he's actually very helpful. i couldn't do this without him," you counter with a little edge to your voice.
"maybe you're not deadweight after all," he says sarcastically. beomgyu just smirks and goes along with it. to the untrained eye, he seems perfectly fine, but to you, he just looks kind of sad. you pull out your phone and decide to text him.
you don't have to laugh if you don't think it's funny
he looks up at you and you nod encouragingly.
it's fine i really am kinda dumb
don't say things you don't mean. you're not their dancing monkey here to entertain them and you're not a fucking punching bag
his heart feels a little sour at this. how did you know he was hurt by their comments, no matter how seemingly harmless they were? even his own friends didn't seem to notice, but somehow, you did. you always seem to notice the little changes within him. like when he's tired and doesn't want to show it, you offer to take breaks or meet another day. or when he's stressed out so you try to wrangle even the smallest of smiles out of him — real ones, that is. he wants to say you're just a thoughtful and perceptive person, but in reality, he thinks it's a little more complicated than that.
-
it's beomgyu's birthday, which should be a happy occasion, but for some reason, you feel like shit. you wonder if it's a mix of anxiety because of the project or maybe because your time in college is coming to the end, but it feels so much more profound than that. you woke up this morning from a fitful sleep and it feels like there's a hole blown through your heart. if you feel like shit, you don't look much better, but you have to meet with beomgyu at his apartment and you can't be late.
"whoa, you look absolutely awful," he muses when he opens the door and sees you with two appalling dark circles under your eyes.
"wow, thanks, asshole," you mumble. you did, indeed, look and feel like utter shit, but being here seems to bring a sense of relief you did not anticipate.
"hey, i'm just kidding, you look pretty," he laughs. he's been saying things like this, lately. you can't deny the way your heart skips a beat, but you shoot down any further thoughts because you know, know, know he sleeps around and you know that seemingly off-the-cuff comments like this are probably part of the reason why he's able to do so as easily as he does. you're not to be trifled with, though, so instead of letting the comment fly off your back as you usually would, your mouth opens before you know it.
"not as pretty as you, beoms," you smirk. you don't know exactly what you expected, but his ears turning a rosy pink isn't it.
"o-okay," he says sheepishly, clearing his throat. you find him criminally endearing in this moment, and for once, you don't mentally slap yourself for it.
"oh yeah. happy birthday!" you say, pulling out a cupcake and decisively putting an end to the awkwardness.
"thanks," he says with a smile before eyeing you suspiciously. "is this poisoned?"
"give it back," you say monotonously and he giggles when you try to snatch it away from him.
"hey, i'm just kidding! thank you!" he says as he takes a bite and his eyes widen in surprise.
"mmm, how'd you know this flavor's my favorite?"
"i dunno, i didn't. i just kinda figured you'd like it," you shrug. you walk towards his coffee table, which is where you all have been working lately, and again he's plagued with the idea that you know him far more deeply than you should.
working with beomgyu usually goes smoothly, but you're exhausted. you're still incredibly sad for no reason, but being with him makes you feel less... empty? you would try to put a name to the feeling, but you're too tired to do so at the moment.
"want some coffee?" he asks as he watches you yawn for the umpteenth time since you've been here.
"please," you say sleepily. he smiles and gets up from the floor as you bury your head in your hands.
beomgyu has been in a relatively good mood since you've been here, and not just because it's his birthday. he can't explain why, but his mouth has pretty much been etched into a curve ever since you got here. he catches a glimpse of his smiling face in the mirror of his living room before opting to fix his hair a little, mindful of how he looks in front of you. when he does this, he feels a rough patch of skin behind his right ear. he's confused when he runs his fingers over it and feels grooves and lines where there shouldn't be.
he quickly pulls out his phone and takes a picture. what he sees horrifies him. a seal. it's pink and delicate, but has a complicated pattern he couldn't even begin to replicate. the day he's been dreading for years has finally come. he stares at the picture before shaking his head and ruffling his hair to cover it again. no. this changes nothing. he won't let this ruin his day — his life.
he moves to the kitchen and begins to prepare your coffee. when he reenters the living room, he hears you lightly snoring with your head resting on the coffee table. he smiles in spite of himself and places the coffee down. he wants to say you look peaceful, but your eyebrows are furrowed like there's something you can't quite figure out.
he chuckles softly to himself before subconsciously pushing your hair out of your face and behind your ear. that's when he sees it. pink like a blooming flower and as complicated in its pattern as the one on his head. he hurriedly pulls his phone out and compares the picture of his seal to the one behind your ear. he already knows, but he has to be completely sure. he's not surprised in the slightest when he comes to the conclusion that they are, indeed, the same.
-
when you awaken, you feel a pit in your stomach and you're genuinely on the verge of tears. someone would think you'd had a nightmare, but you hadn't. you're stuck in a whirlwind of emotions when you're snapped away from them by a soft baritone voice.
"you awake?" beomgyu asks.
"shit, i'm sorry!" you exclaim, wiping the drool off of your face and straightening up your hair. "how long has it been?"
"i dunno, an hour or two?" he says nonchalantly. you sense some resentment in his tone and you feel beyond apologetic.
"god, i'm so sorry. let's just finish this really quick and i'll get going. i'm sure you want to be done with this and celebrate your birthday," you say embarrassedly.
"i already finished it," he says, and even through your sleepiness, you feel his disdain.
"you... finished it? alone?"
"why? do you think i'm not capable of doing it by myself?"
"no! not at all! i just feel bad that you had to do it alone," you exclaim.
"well, it's done. so you can leave now," he says, not without urgency.
"leave? but i —" but what? but i wanted to spend more time with you? that doesn't sound right, but that's what you feel.
"you can leave now," he repeats with disgust that you can't quite understand.
"o-okay. i'll get my stuff and go, but shouldn't we review everything together just in case?"
"i have plans, so no," he says firmly. you have no idea why he's so angry. you want to say it's because he had to finish the project alone while you were knocked out and drooling on his coffee table, but it feels much deeper than that.
"thanks for finishing everything. again, i'm so sorry," you say as you gather your things and head for the door. beomgyu is ready to shut the door behind you when you look back to him and softly say "happy birthday, beoms." and the door slams shut.
-
when you get home, the first thing you do is cry. the pain in your heart is suffocating. you so badly want to know what it is that's causing this seemingly out of nowhere pain, but you can't put your finger on it to save your life. you decide to shower and have another good cry. after you shower, you look in the mirror as you twist your hair up in a towel. your fingertips rub against a rough patch behind your ear when you do so and you're stunned before you register what it is. you take a picture to get a better look at it, but you already kinda know what to expect: a seal.
it's more beautiful than you imagined it'd be, but instead of joy, all you feel is dread. but why? a seal is a happy thing. you should feel relieved to finally have it on you and he should, too. you ponder over this and come to the conclusion that it's not your pain you're feeling, but your soulmate's. you've heard about soulmates feeling each other's emotions before, though it was somewhat rare. the question is: why is he so sad? you don't know how, but you instinctively know it has to do with the seal appearing and it makes you drop to the bathroom floor in tears. this isn't how you wanted it to be. you clutch your chest, willing your heart to stop pounding so hard, but it doesn't.
-
beomgyu has been avoiding you, that much is clear. as to why that is, you have no idea. he used to greet you and strike up conversation, project be damned. you want to think about this more, but the depression you feel makes it hard to think clearly about, well, anything, really. you feel an emptiness you've never known before, and you can't help but feel like being with him would make it better. in a way, you're glad he finished the project alone because you're sure you wouldn't have been able to be much help at all.
when you walk into the class you share, his absence puts you at a loss you don't understand. you remember that soobin is yeonjun's partner and ask him if he knows anything about beomgyu's whereabouts. he shakes his head.
"i don't know the details, but yeonjun said he's been bummed ever since he got his seal."  ever since he got his seal? that means he must have gotten it recently, just like you. the cogs in your brain start to turn and you feel the dread in your stomach again.
"why?” you ask tentatively.
"i dunno. i think he might not like his soulmate, but he won't talk about it any more than that," he shrugs. "hey, are you okay?"
you nod before touching the seal behind your ear. you feel another pang in your heart. what if... what if he has the same seal? what if... beomgyu is your soulmate?
-
after class, you practically sprint out of the room and to beomgyu's apartment. you pound on his door impatiently and when he doesn't answer, you pound even louder.
"what are you doing here?" he hisses when he swings the door open. you flinch a little, but you're determined to get some answers. you falter when you notice a girl, haphazardly dressed, appearing from behind him.
"who's this, beomie?" she says, voice silky smooth.
"kick rocks," he says simply. she shrugs and makes her way past you while fiddling with her clothes. you don't have to guess what they just got finished doing, and it hurts, hurts, hurts.
"who's that?" you say, eyes glassy.
"what are you doing here?" he asks again, actually a little embarrassed, but never showing an ounce of it. you storm into his apartment and he shuts the door behind you.
"show me your seal," you say determinedly.
"what? no," he answers defensively.
you reach for his long hair to lightly tuck it behind his pierced ears. he wants to stop you, but he can't bear the thought of batting away your hand. he hears you inhale a sharp breath as you see the pink seal behind his ear and he feels his chest becoming heavier and heavier.
"how long have you known?"
"since my birthday," he answers after a slight pause.
"and when were you gonna tell me?"
"probably never," he says truthfully. your hand drops to your side and he subconsciously misses the way your touch felt.
"why?"
"because... because i don't want a soulmate."
"what's so bad about me?" you ask as your lips tremble.
"it's not just you," he sighs. "i've never wanted a soulmate."
"then what's so bad about soulmates?"
"i just don't want one and you can't make me," he snaps and you wince, so he tries again. "look, you're a nice girl and everything, but it's never gonna happen between us, so you need to stop trying."
"even without the seal, i'd still have feelings for you." he looks a little taken aback by this, as if he never expected to hear those words from you or anyone, really, and it makes your heart ache. "can't you just give me a chance?" you look so earnest right now, but he's almost sadistically dedicated to squashing the sprout of hope that is almost certainly peeking out of you right now.
"no, i can't. you're not my type at all. if we weren't soulmates i'd never even look at you." he's lying but if he's not cruel now, he knows you'll never let go.
"but we are soulmates and you are looking at me right now."
"for god's sake, you're not hearing what i'm saying. i will never love you, alright? i tried to be nice about it but you keep pushing me. you look fucking pathetic right now."
your frown deepens, eyes reddened and hot. as a last ditch effort, you hurriedly say your next words.
"i can feel your pain," you whisper and his eyes widen. "i know you feel it every day. i know you're empty and you need somebody — why can't i be that person? i-i'll be whatever you need me to be." you've taken your heart and served it on a silver platter. all he has to do is hold it.
"because you're not what i need! you're not even what i want!"
the silence that follows will haunt him for the rest of his life. you look so small right now, so fragile. he almost wants to take everything back, but he remembers what soulmates mean and what they can do to a person. he looks at how vulnerable you are, how your heart is bleeding in front of him and how easily he can and will break it. he never wants to give anyone that power over him. no fucking way.
"i can feel your pain," you try again, and before he can reply you continue. "can you at least feel mine?" you look absolutely devastated with your eyebrows furrowed pleadingly, sobs racking your body. you look like you're going to be sick.
"i can't and i don't wanna," he answers flippantly with a shrug and a lopsided smile. "that's how much you mean to me." he knows exactly what to say and how to say it, the way only somebody who really knows you ever can. it's the final nail in the coffin for you. you will lock your heart for him in it and bury it as deep as it'll go.
"i've been waiting for you, you know? always. always." your eyes trail down to his hastily thrown on shirt and hickeys adorning his neck. at this, his jaw clenches and his eyes actually close in shame. you're not sure where your pain ends and his begins, but for the first time, you don't really care. a burning rage fills your heart and your dignity demands to be taken seriously for the first time. you're a doormat, sure, but you won't be anymore. not for him, anyway.
"i don't want to see you anymore. don't you ever fucking talk to me again," you finish and with a spin on your heel you're sprinting towards the door.
-
you are true to your word. when you walk into class after the entire debacle, you don't even spare him a glance. even if you can feel his gaze on you, you remain perfectly unfazed. he asked for this, he thinks. it's the way it should be. still, nothing really consoles him when he sees how tired you look. he can't feel your pain, but he can very well see it, and he wishes he could take it away. he regrets what he said to you, but he knows you'd never give up if he had given you even a sliver of a way out.
you're a good girl, though. a lot of people will come your way if you'll just let them. he feels a pang in his chest when he thinks about what they'll be like. he doesn't like to imagine it very much, but his thoughts wander that way more than he'd like to admit. he can't fathom anyone being good enough for you, really. especially not him.
do you feel the way he hates himself for the way he has to treat you? he doesn't know for sure, but he's pretty convinced when he sees you put your head in your hands, shoulders shaking. soobin quietly asks if you're alright before you bolt out of the room.
-
it's an end of the year house party thrown by soobin's new friend and former project partner, yeonjun. you truly, honest to god, do not want to go, but sumin really wants you to and you feel guilty because you're unsure when you'll see her again after graduation.
you sit almost catatonically as she does your hair and makeup, dressing you as if you're some kind of doll. when she's finished playing dress-up, you have to give credit where it's due. you look like a new person, but you can still feel the rotten old you underneath the shiny veneer, and it doesn't feel very good at all.
you're sitting in a circle, passing a blunt around when someone mentions him. it's innocuous enough, but you still flinch when you hear it. they joke about how he's probably upstairs getting his dick wet with some exchange student who's only here for a semester. you don't think that's true, if only because you can feel the pull and it feels so fucking lonely and isolated there can't possibly be anyone else around him, but it still hurts to hear all the same.
sumin gets blackout drunk fairly quickly, which is nothing new. what is new, however, is how you match her shot for shot and chug for chug. you know in your head that you should stop, but your heart keeps telling you to drown it, drown it, drown it until you can't feel the pull anymore. so you do.
-
"my god, you're drunk!" yeonjun exclaims when you're literally about to fall over and bust your head open.
"i'm not drunk, you're drunk!" you hiccup. he almost laughs before he sees you grip your stomach and gag. he thinks it's the alcohol, but in reality, you feel the loneliness beomgyu felt dissipating and you can only imagine what he's doing to cope. fuck, you didn't want to feel this.
"c'mon, girl. don't throw up here. let's go to the bathroom." he leads you up the stairs into some shitty bathroom that doesn't even have toilet paper. you kneel in front of the toilet and let yourself go, tears marring your carefully crafted makeup.
yeonjun gently grabs your loose hair and twists it into a makeshift ponytail. when he sweeps the last few strands from behind your ears, he sees it. all pretty and pink, ornate but unassuming. the seal you share with beomgyu.
"oh fuck," he says simply. you're drunk, too drunk, but even you know what he means.
"don't... don't look at it," you hiccup as a fresh wave of tears stream down your cheeks. "i want it gone," you whine, futilely scraping at it with your fingernails. in your head, you know it won't do anything. seals are permanent and even a tattoo couldn't cover it — it'd just resurface. in your aching heart, though, the thought of having beomgyu's matching seal makes you sick and you're willing to do almost anything to get it off of you.
"what the fuck is going on here?" a voice you'd recognize from anywhere emerges from the bathroom doorway. soobin. "what happened to you?!"
he's kneeling down to your level and wiping the mascara from under your eyes. yeonjun is still holding your hair back, so it's only a matter of time before the seal catches soobin's eye. it takes him a second to place where exactly he's seen it before, but once he does he murmurs a simple "oh shit."
you'd laugh at the similar reactions from the two boys if you felt anything other than misery at the moment. soobin grabs a rag from god knows where and wets it to tenderly brush around your lips. yeonjun tactfully lets go of your hair and escapes from the bathroom, shutting the door behind him. you sit in silence.
"you know, this is a really bad time," he begins awkwardly, "but i want to remind you that the seal stuff doesn't matter to me. i know it matters to you right now, and that's okay, but it doesn't have to be that way forever." it takes you a minute to really process what he's saying and understand the implication behind his words. once you finally do, you're shocked to say the very least.
"do you still like me when i'm like this?" you say, mouth agape, tongue still heavy from the vomit.
"i do," he replies simply.
"really?"
"really, really."
-
beomgyu knew you felt his pain as soon as you said it, but he didn't know to what extent until he hears you sobbing in the bathroom. the walls are paper thin and you're not exactly quiet, but he'd be lying if he said he wasn't straining his ears to ensure he's catching every word. and catch every word he does — even the ones you exchange with soobin — the ones that pierce his heart, and yours, apparently, because you wail when you feel it.
-
being with soobin is simultaneously the hardest and the easiest thing you've ever done. he starts off slowly, as if he's afraid to break you even more than you're already broken. he's patient with you even when you're sad about a certain somebody, and never makes you feel guilty for it.
when you're bawling your eyes out one night and cancel your plans with him, you're surprised to hear a knock on your apartment door, anyway. you look through the peephole and see a familiar figure with a smile on his face. you hurriedly wipe the mascara from under your eyes and pull your hood up to cover your fucked up hair.
"what are you doing here?" you ask once you open the door.
"i was just in the neighborhood and thought you might want some ice cream," he says simply.
you snort. the "neighborhood" in question is a good 20 minutes from his apartment, but you don't ask any questions for fear that he might actually leave.
and so you sit on the living room floor with a movie playing in the background as white noise. you forgo the formalities and both of you are digging into a, frankly, alarmingly large tub of ice cream with nothing but two spoons. he pokes your reddened nose when you eventually start to drift off into space and remember your soulmate doesn't want you. he doesn't ask any questions, either. just boops your nose and you're back to reality and giggling at his childishness.
being with soobin is so easy, so comforting, that when he eventually asks you to be his girlfriend, you say yes.
-
on graduation day, beomgyu feels an excitement he sincerely did not anticipate. sure, he was happy to graduate, but he had no idea he'd be fucking elated. he has no clue why he's so ridiculously excited when he's honestly not even sure what he'll do after college, but when your name is called to collect your diploma and his heart is racing so fast he feels like it might explode, beomgyu comes to a damning realization: it's not his happiness he's feeling... it's yours.
the revelation is fully enforced when he sees you leaving the stage and hugging soobin. he feels your heart skipping a beat when he watches your fingers lacing with the other man's. he can't quite understand it, but the contentment you feel juxtaposes the sadness brewing inside of him. the sense that something is missing feels more palpable than ever. you walk off with soobin, swinging your interlocked hands while he gently brushes his thumb against your fingers. you don't look beomgyu's way even once, and his eyes start to burn when he realizes that image will forever be seared into his head. he has nobody to blame but himself.
-
beomgyu can feel your joy now and it makes him sick. he feels the butterflies in your stomach as you slow dance with soobin. feels your first kiss and the thrums of electricity permeating from your lips to your toes. he even feels your excitement before soobin makes love to you for the first time and the pure bliss that comes after. he feels it all and it's enough to make his stomach churn. he wonders if you can still feel his pain, and on some level, he hopes you do. maybe he's selfish, but it would serve as another reminder that he's bound to you and you to him. it doesn't feel like you can, though. how could you be so happy if you felt even a fraction of the weight on his chest? he's drowning every day and you're out playing first comes love then comes marriage with soobin. he's currently looking at your instagram from a burner account (you blocked him on his main) and he's trying to keep his pain tucked carefully behind his ribs, where his heart is, but it's constantly threatening to overcome him. you look different — not bad — just different. you're glowing now, it seems, and your hair is always down. he has a guess as to why that might be, and it pains him to think about it. this must be the yearning everyone, including you, had felt. he supposes he should be happy that you're happy, but he's never claimed to be a good person, and the sight of a picture of you planting a kiss on soobin's cheek is enough to twist the knife in his chest.
notes pt. 2: hi :,) i hope you all liked this one. if not, i'm sorry :,) my pacing is sooo bad but i'm working on it i swear ( ཀ͝ ∧ ཀ͝ ) feedback is always appreciated!! and yes, there will be a part 2.

The villa had one feature that stood out in particular—a hallway that ran through the base of the house, connecting the kitchen to the open grass area in the back. Even the tiniest gust of wind could collect into a large breeze to combat the sticky heat of the day.
Vada closed her eyes and lifted her arms by her side as she felt the breeze glide through her. She could smell an earthy, hay-like smell of flowers that had been bathing in sunlight wafting in from the garden behind the villa. It didn’t take much to notice; summer in southern France was in full swing.
I could live here, she thought. Four weeks of this? Away from the repetitive scenery of the American suburbs, away from expectations. Only a few minutes since she’s gotten off the car and seen the yellow walls and red bricks of the Mediterranean villa, and she’s been buzzing ever since. She’s never actually left the country before, and the long flight over was jarring, to say the least. But the beauty of what she saw as soon as she landed made up for it.
Mia had instructed her to come along upstairs to put her things away; Vada would be occupying the guest room next to hers. She swore her friendship with Mia Reed started because they both went through a traumatic thing together, but it was moments like these when she was grateful for the perks.
“I could use a nap,” Mia said, rubbing her face.
It was nearly nine in the morning when the girls finished unpacking. Mia’s parents had given them the morning to get settled and get used to the jet lag.
“I’m not too tired,” Vada said, “maybe I’ll go into town for the morning.”
“You sure you don’t need me to come with you?”
“Yeah, it’ll be fun. It’s about time I put my four years of high school French to the test.”
The road into town winded downhill, and she was grateful she used one of the bikes the Reeds had available at their villa, as she would have dreaded the trek back up, had she gone on foot. She mapped out exactly the way into the town square and was determined to check everything out before returning for lunch. Thank god for Google Maps.
She had also bought a paper map of the town in a nearby kiosk and, after nearly two hours of exploring, mapped out a general layout of notable places in town. There was a fountain in the middle of the square in front of a church that Vada would use as a reference for everything; from the Fountain facing the church going left would be the town hall and that little kiosk, going right would be the local post office and the way back to the villa, opposite the church facing ahead lead down a slanted cobblestone alley full of restaurants and gift shops, as well as the way to the beach.
It must have been in the high 80s (30s Celsius) that day, so Vada decided to reward herself with some ice cream in the town square before she headed back. It was so hot that when sitting on a bench in the shades, she still had to try and keep the ice cream from melting all over her lap.
“Lillian’s ice cream is nice, but it melts quickly. You should try Karim’s down the street.”
Vada looked up at the voice in surprise, as it was English that was being spoken to her.
“Oh, totally!” She replied quickly. “How did you know I speak English?”
“I haven’t seen you around here.”
“But I could have also known French, right?”
“Touché, but I also recognize a compatriot when I see one.”
You wore an oversized white button-up that barely skirted past your black shorts, and your flip-flops indicated that you might have had a better idea of what the weather was going to be like as opposed to her in her high-neck basketball shoes. Peaking out from between the hem of your shirt was a necklace in the shape of a hummingbird, dangling and reflected in the sun.
“That obvious, huh?”
“Maybe a little." You grinned and shook your head from side to side. "Only tourists go to Lillian for ice cream.”
“So you’re not one, I assume.”
“I wouldn’t say so, no. My family has been coming here every summer ever since I was eight. These people are probably sick of me by now.” You chuckled.
This is your time, Vada, be smooth. “Lucky for you, you’ll have someone new to entertain.” She grinned and pointed at herself.
. . . Adequate.
The melodic laugh that escaped you gave her a new-found confidence, and she decided that it was to be her new favorite sound.
“Alright, since you seem to know the area so well,” Vada said. “What’s fun to do around here?”
Conversation flowed so easily between the two of you, she had almost forgotten that she only met you 15 minutes ago. Granted, you were also easy on the eye, and Vada would always remember the way the water from the fountain reflected in waves across your skin.
At one point she had started talking about the time her family got stranded in the middle of nowhere on a road trip to Phoenix. Vada felt like she was talking too much, but the way you laughed along with her story made her feel like it wasn’t for naught.
The bell tower of the church rang throughout the square. Vada widened her eyes and checked her phone, it was noon.
"Shit, I have to get back. My host family's gonna wonder where I am." She stood up quickly and collected her bike. The height of the seat and her haste caused her to stumble, and she would have fallen if not for you grabbing her by the arm and holding her up.
"Oh, okay. I’m sure there’s a story about a daytime Cinderella somewhere.”
She looked up and you were smirking. "Vada," she said. Maybe she shouldn’t have told you, Cinderella was fine, you didn’t know each other.
She could barely make out your attempt at her name on your lips before you nodded.
“Y/N.” You held your hand out for her to take. There was that touch that changed the course of her summer, the one touch that set into motion a journey toward a certain feeling that Vada had never felt before.
"Bye, Y/N!" She called behind her before rounding the corner, past the post office, and back to the Reed villa.
Mia had been waiting by the front door and breathed a sigh of relief when she spotted Vada cycling uphill.
"Where the hell have you been? We thought you'd been kidnapped!"
"Wait, could you get kidnapped here?" Vada’s face dropped at the thought, even though she was positively out of breath.
"You could get kidnapped anywhere, V."
"Well, I got lost." She hopped off her bike and set it by the entrance. "My phone died so I couldn't use Maps."
Her friend rolled her eyes and led her inside where a hearty lunch awaited. It was mid-June and apricots were in season for dessert.
Tumblr media
It wasn't until late afternoon the next day that Vada regained the energy to go outside again. The jet lag had finally caught on, and she spent the morning asleep until noon. Mia had suggested going to the beach, which was great because she could see how things were, and either get into the water or take another nap.
Mia—being Mia—wore her bathing suit and a thin cardigan as her attire, while Vada decided on wearing an oversized tee and shorts over her bathing suit.
"Don't freak out. I've invited some friends. Just kids from the area," said Mia, once they arrived at the beach.
Vada stayed back, as Mia was greeted by several people similar in age to her, speaking in French at a pace her high school education couldn’t help her understand.
“This is Vada, she’s a friend from home.”
A curly-headed boy stood up from his lounge chair and sauntered over to give Mia a kiss on each cheek, then looked over to Vada and did the same. “Corentin, but please call me Coco,” he said and took both their bags. Vada didn’t miss the way his eyes lingered on Mia’s form a bit longer than normal.
“Come, Vada! Mia, where have you been hiding this one? I’m Marlène. This is Sasha.” The brunette pulled her by the hand and gestured to the boy sitting next to her. He was slender with blonde hair part in the middle. “We’re about to go into the water if you want to join.”
“Where’s Noémie?” asked Mia.
“Déjà à l’eau. No doubt to show off to the lifeguard.” Sasha snickered, nodding his head towards the water. He took another drag from his cigarette and rested his arm back against Marlène’s chair.
“Speaking of the lifeguard . . .” Vada followed Marlène’s gaze towards . . . you.
Her mouth hung open as she watched you, in red shorts and a white T-shirt, a whistle hanging from your neck. You pulled your sunglasses up to your head and gave Mia la bise.
Of course, she thought. She had hoped to see you again, but only when there was no one else around, and that you’d catch her by surprise when she was alone once more. She’d only met you, but she wished that she could have you all alone, not like a secret, but like a prized possession.
“And just how many people have died while you’re on watch?” Mia teased.
“Zero, but very soon,” you pointed at her, “one.”
When you turned to Vada, her breath hitched. “Hi,” you greeted with that warm smile again. Even in your work attire, she spotted that necklace next to your whistle.
“Y/N, this is—”
“Vada, the daytime Cinderella. We met yesterday in the square.” You replied. “Did I forget to mention I work here?”
Vada was grinning like an idiot, her cheeks tinted pink at the nickname. “Yup, you did.”
“Y/N!” Over jogged a gorgeous girl, even Vada had to admit. Her black bathing suit hugged her curves perfectly, and though her hair was completely wet, the water droplets clinging to her olive skin made her glow. “T'as prévu aller en boîte ce week-end, ou bien? J'ai chopé l'info qu'y a un nouveau DJ en ville, et il envoie du pâté!”
She was clinging onto your arm, and speaking way too fast for Vada to understand, but she picked up on some keywords: ce week-end, and nouveau DJ.
When she finally noticed Vada there, her excitement subsided, but she walked over anyway to greet her, like an afterthought. “Salut. I’m Noémie.”
“Hi. Vada.”
Just as quickly as you arrived, Noémie had led you away, talking your ear off about something that Vada didn’t have the heart to eavesdrop on. Her eyes followed your form, picking up on the way you kept your arms by your side even when Noémie was practically hanging off of you. In a sporadic moment, Vada thought she saw you looking back over her shoulder at the friend group, and maybe toward her.
“Your phone died, huh?” Mia poked her elbow into her side with a teasing grin.
“Shut up,” Vada murmured. “What’s the deal with them anyway?”
“They were together last summer,” Sasha replied, then turned to the others. “Plan cul, how do you say?”
“A fling, but Noémie seems more attached than Y/N ever did,” said Coco.
“No doubt Y/N has already found a new paramour for the summer,” Marlène commented.
“It’s summertime. Anything’s possible.”
Tumblr media
As much as she hated it, you plagued her mind, much more than she cared to admit. She didn’t want to think about what your initial conversation meant to you (if it did at all), or what the lack of words in your second meeting meant. She didn’t want to think about Noémie either, how she seemed so confident to get your attention, and an up-and-down look from her made Vada want to crawl into a hole.
She remembered the handshake. The speed at which she rode away wasn’t entirely to get home in time before Mia’s parents called the police, but to get away from the butterflies that burst in her stomach that moment her hand firmly shook yours. She’d seen how you greeted your friends, but to her, she offered a handshake. Though the gesture itself was completely platonic and can be passed off as a farewell between two strangers, she felt a sense of exclusivity, that American camaraderie you shared with her in a foreign land. Common courtesy as a mode of intimacy. Revisiting it now, Vada recognized it as a sign of attraction and an apprehension to the speed at which it enveloped her.
She would see you around town in your work uniform after your shift, sometimes you’d be talking to people, sometimes you were the buyer yourself. No matter the person though—from the tourists asking for directions to the old owner of the bookstore by the fountain, they always loved you and talked to you like you were their best friend. She’d see you from afar, wanting to talk to you, but then get anxious the moment you spotted her a give her a friendly wave.
Then there were times when you would come by the Reed villa. Philip and Andre always received you like you were an esteemed guest, gifting you fruits from the trees in the backyard. She loved to see how you acted around different people, and to the Reeds who had known you for years, you were awful shy.
“Invite your parents over. We should all have dinner sometime!”
“Oh, my parents aren’t here this summer. My dad’s busy with a conference in Singapore, but they’ll drop by at the end of July.”
Even the times you were invited to stay for supper, it was clear you knew how to hold a conversation over the dinner table. She wondered if you were studying to be a politician because you seemed to charm everyone and had the best manners. Mia would not-so-subtly yield the spot next to you for Vada, and secretly, she was glad to be sitting next to you.
For the first time in her life, she felt a force holding her back, preventing her from reaching out. Maybe it was because she had only known you for a couple of weeks but felt like you’d always been there, like a puzzle finally piecing together.
And every time, right before you left, after you had said goodbye to the Reeds, you’d find her somehow. “Bye,” would be all you said with an adoring smile, but Vada would be thinking about it until the next day.
She and Mia met up with the group again one night, this time at a nearby open-air disco. When she arrived, she could spot Sasha and Marlène already twirling each other around on the dance floor, she was laughing as he spun her around, cigarette between his lips. She felt a pang of envy, imagining that it was your arms around her waist instead as you spun her around without a care in the world, in front of everyone. Let them see. Let them see that you’re mine and I’m yours. If she were being honest, she only agreed to come just so she could see you again. She found you sitting at a table with Coco and Noémie, chatting away.
“Hi.” Her attention was focused on you. She couldn’t be more sober, and she wished she had taken a few puffs before coming.
As if having read her mind, Coco pulled out a couple of joints, lighting one and taking a puff himself before passing it to Noémie.
“You partake?” You shouted over the loud music.
“Oh, she partakes.” Mia nodded enthusiastically. “The first time she did weed she smoked most of my joint. Then proceeded to blabber on nonstop for two hours.”
You let out a laugh. “I like this one!”
She hated, despised even, the overwhelming feeling of wanting to be near you, to impress you, to feel special in your eyes as you were in hers. It was human nature; everyone liked feeling special, but somehow getting validation from you would make her ten times happier. She sat two seats away from you—next to Mia and Noémie—and once in a while, she would try and dart her eyes over to look at you ever so subtly. On a couple of occasions, her heart would jump when she noticed you were already looking back.
A few minutes later, Vada started to feel the effect of the weed, and Mia must have too because she pulled her toward the dance floor. Looking back, she saw you talking to Noémie. You didn’t look too happy and neither did she, having her arms crossed in front of her chest. Then, she walked outside and you followed her impatiently. When you returned, a polite smile was on your face when you noticed her looking for you.
“Are you okay?” She shouted, the weed had made her feel bold.
“Yeah! Everything’s fine.” You shouted back.
It might have been the weed or it was something that’s already been there, but Vada couldn’t take her eyes off of you. She took you by the hand, and there was that same spark of electricity again. You let her guide you, your hands never leaving hers as you moved with her.
It was about a quarter to midnight when everyone decided to split because frankly, everyone was too tired to continue. Vada said goodbye to Sasha and Marlène, the latter of whom gave her a big hug and repeatedly expressed her delight that Vada had decided to join them. Coco, already sober, offered to drive Mia home, but his ride was a scooter.
“Sorry, les gars,” Coco smiled sheepishly and asked Mia if she was ready, to which the girl only nodded.
“I’ll walk you home.” You said quietly, surprisingly timid. “Promise me you won’t turn into a pumpkin at midnight?”
She huffed through her nose and gave you a shove, but she was grinning. It was just the two of you now. Her pride was on the line, and so was her heart.
“Penny for your thoughts?” Your voice cut through the stillness of the night. Before that, the only sounds were that of your shoes brushing against the ground and the soft sighs of the ocean.
“Is everything okay with Noémie?”
You averted your eyes, your hand coming up to play with the hummingbird on your neck.
Maybe she shouldn’t have. “Shit, did I overstep?”
“No, no. It’s fine. It’s just Noë being Noë, she was out of line.” Your walls were up. “We were always close, she was the first friend I made here. And last summer we slept together.”
“Oh.” Her steps faltered.
“I stopped it before it could progress into anything beyond that, though. I’m just not ready.”
Vada nodded slowly. Loud and clear. Maybe that was the signal she needed, the insecure part of her thought it was that, but when she was with you, all she wanted to do was listen to the other part.
“I slept with Mia once, sophomore year.”
You looked over at her, seemingly surprised. “Mia? Huh. Never would have thought.”
“It was just that, though.” She flashed you a smile.
Vada felt that surge of closeness between you, your arm swinging beside her as you walked. The obsession with finding anything to relate to you prompted her to say it, like Hey, I’m like you, I know how you feel. Maybe it wasn’t the best thing to tell you, she might have screwed up.
You mirrored her smile, but something about it told her that your heart wasn’t entirely in it. Tell me what you’re thinking, Y/N. She wanted to get inside your head and know everything you were thinking, to go all the way with that closeness. Even as friends, one has to start from somewhere.
Tumblr media
It was radio silence from you for the next few days. Vada came up with all the excuses as to what it could have been, and when she grew tired and angry at herself for thinking so much about you, she tried to distract herself by doing other things. She helped Philip collect figs from the trees in the backyard; she looked up the fortress nearby you told her about the day you met and biked all the way over there, even though it was a half an hour's ride each way; she finally took out the book she packed with her and began reading it whilst sunbathing. It was starting to feel like a summer that she should be enjoying.
Her mom called and was happy to hear that her daughter was going outside and doing fun things. “The people are nice,” Vada would say, “I met some of Mia’s friends.” And in true Mom fashion, her mom would quickly squeeze in a “Don’t do drugs and use protection” to which she ended the call and almost threw her phone across the room.
She would also call Nick every other day. I met someone, she said one day after having finally gathered the courage to vocalize her crush. Girl, I know. Mia had told him. When? Literally the second day. She said you were so obvious.
It was as if the weather knew too. It started raining all day when she decided to go to the beach one day, souring her mood entirely. She would sit by the entrance in the backyard watching the rain, and sure enough, she was thinking about what you were doing on the opposite end of town.
“It’s unlike you to be so hung up on someone,” Mia told her when they were hanging out in Mia’s room.
“I’m not hung up on someone,” her words trailed at the end, mindlessly flipping through the magazine in front of her.
“So am I just crazy for thinking that you want to pounce on Y/N every three seconds?”
“Okay, but what about you and Coco? He follows you around everywhere like a lost puppy.”
“Coco’s just shy,” her friend blushed. “And stop changing the subject.”
“There’s nothing between us, at least not yet.”
“So you do want something to happen.”
“Shut up! Mia!” She hid her face behind her hands and writhed on Mia’s bed in embarrassment. “I’m not talking to you about this anymore.”
“Alright, alright,” Mia held her hands up as her laughter subsided.
“Look, I just want to—” Vada took a moment. “I want to test the waters, okay? Y/N is special, and I don’t want to ruin anything.”
Mia nodded, understanding. “I just don’t want you to be misled. I mean, you’ve seen how it was with Noémie.”
“I know.” Vada smiled softly. “I know what I’m getting into. Zero expectations.”
She wanted to believe what she told Mia too, but then when she saw texts from you the next day, there was no hiding that a connection was what she so tirelessly wanted, and needed.
hey it’s y/n Sent 3:23pm
mia gave me your number, i hope you don’t mind Sent 3:23pm
call me when you see this? Sent 3:24pm
Damn you, Mia, but also, thank you.
She didn’t work up enough courage to call you until later that night. Of course, it could have been something dire, but then you would have called her first, right? I am such a wimp.
“Hello?”
“Hi,” she rubbed her hands against her shorts. “it’s Vada. You wanted me to call you?”
“Yeah. I was gonna just text you, but I don’t know . . .” You hesitated for a moment. “Anyway, you ever been to Antibes?”
“No, why?”
“Well, I’m going there on Friday for my apprenticeship, and I was wondering if you wanted to come with? I’m just giving some manuscripts to my mentor, and then leaving them with him for a few hours to review, so we can make a fun day out of it. It’s a one-hour drive, so I don’t plan on staying overnight.”
“Friday you said?” Vada took a deep breath to still her racing heart. “I don’t think I got anything better to do that day.”
“Great!” You said. “I’ll pick you up at 9am?”
“Sounds like a plan.”
“Cool, see you then!”
There was something frightening about when things go exactly how you wanted them. It was inch-perfect, the puzzle pieces just slotted in place as if they were always fated to be. You were the first to reach out; she thought it would be easier that way, she’d just have to take your hand and come along. But there was a certain apprehension that Vada had as if she was walking straight into the lion’s den like a deer blinded by hunger. What if she loses her heart? She was aware of the dangers of heartbreak, of course—she was no fool—but the thought of giving her heart to you, then watching you walk away with it like an unwanted gift was too devastating.
Mia was practically bouncing off the walls when Vada told her about the phone call, saying that in all seven years of knowing you, she had never been special enough to receive a call. She didn’t exactly say the latter part, but she all but implied it.
On Friday morning, Vada woke up earlier than usual, made herself some breakfast, and was already waiting at the door with a backpack by 8:45. No later than 9:05, you arrived with a Volkswagen Golf, sunglasses on, and a bright smile.
“Music?” You offered, turning on Bluetooth. “Also, if you need a pee break, please tell me. Bladders can be untimely.”
“Noted,” Vada giggled.
The car ride was mostly silent, aside from the music you let her pick and the fun facts you enlightened her with about some of the landmarks you drive past.
“That one I believe was built in the later 1600s and owned by a minor Provence viscount. It was also in a strategic location for the military until it was abandoned after the French Revolution. Also, the viscount built the castle for his second wife, but she died shortly after giving birth to their child.”
“That’s a little sad,” said Vada.
“She was also 14 when she died and he was in his 50s.”
Vada grimaced. “Maybe death was a sweet relief.”
“Yeah. It was more common back in the day than you think.”
“How do you know all this?” She brought her legs up against her chest.
“I like history. I like to learn about the areas I’m in, and in the time that I’ve been here, I’ve had a lot of opportunities to learn.”
She watched your side profile for a moment. “You mentioned some manuscripts. What is it for?”
“Is this an interview now?” You laughed and glanced over at her, and she looked down with a blush. “It’s for my bachelor’s thesis. Technically I don’t start writing until next year, but I like to practice whenever I can. This one that I’m giving to my mentor is a collection of essays.”
“Can I read them?” You looked over for a moment, then reached behind you to grab a file of paper and handed it to her.
Vada settled back and opened the first pages, and read in silence. She could feel you spare short glances at her from time to time, nervously watching for her reaction, but she was so engrossed in your writing it almost didn’t matter that you were sitting next to her. This might have been what it feels like to peer into someone’s soul, to see the traces of fresh blood as they lay their heart onto paper.
It was a beautiful sunny day, the waters shone a deep turquoise, and the French Riviera looked glorious as ever. And yet, she could only get lost in your words.
“This is beautiful,” Vada breathed, setting the papers down on her lap. “You’re amazing.”
You looked ahead at the road, eyes covered by shades, but your large grin was unmissable.
You parked the car on the side of the street in front of several apartment buildings. “Don’t go anywhere, I’ll be right back.” Vada only nodded and watched you cross the street with the manuscripts in your hand. She liked how it felt between you two, and she would gladly accompany you on every trip until you were sick of her.
Mere minutes later, you returned. “I hope you’re ready for the best adventure of your life.”
Only, she knew it would be.
You first led her to the market in the vieille ville, where you bought some fruits and snacks for the way. Vada also got to witness firsthand your bargaining skills, asking for a price and then pretending to walk away until the vendor becomes desperate enough to settle. “I used to be really bad at this, but then I watched my mom do it, and now I kind of just do. These vendors hike up their prices for tourists like crazy.” You walked away proudly with a bag of food.
As the both of you walked through the picturesque alleys and streets, you proceeded to tell her more about the city and its history. She listened carefully, hanging onto every word that left your lips. You told her about how Antibes was first named Antipolis and part of Ancient Greece before it was built by the Romans in the time of Julius Caesar; how in the Middle Ages the city fell under the fiefdom of the Grimaldi family, the main branch of which is now royalty of Monaco.
“Sorry, you gotta stop me before I go on a tangent,” you chuckled, scratching the back of your neck. “I’ve been talking for ages.”
“No, I like it.” She said quickly. “I like listening to you talk. It’s no surprise many artists were so taken with this place.”
You raised your eyebrows in surprise.
“Hemingway, Picasso, and Monet all had a fascination with this city.” She had to look that up, but you didn’t need to know that.
“That’s right,” you nodded. “In fact, I’ll show you the spot where Monet painted one of his paintings later.”
After lunch, you both walked along the city walls that looked out to the beach.
“I’m just saying, Ratatouille piqued a lot of interest in the dish, and it wasn’t a coincidence. I mean, I’ve never tried it but I’d love to, just because it looked so good in the movie.” Vada said.
“You’ve never had ratatouille?!” You exclaimed loudly making Vada laugh. “Man, it’s a staple here in southern France! I’ll have to make you some because that is just criminal.”
“Okay, Chef Remy. I’m looking forward to it.”
“Actually, I’ll make a whole batch for you and the Reeds too. They always give me fruits from their backyard,” you said. “How did you meet Mia anyway?”
At the question, Vada’s smile collapsed into a frown. “Um . . .” You watched her, a confused look on your face. “I’ve always known who she was. I mean, it’s Mia, you know? But one day we met officially in the bathroom at school.”
“Oh,” you voiced. You must be confused as to why that was so hard to squeeze out, but the latter part, the part she kept hidden, she had been trying to squeeze out for two years.
“We were in the bathroom while there was a shooting going on.”
You opened your mouth to say something, but you only ended up watching her. Then, a moment later, “I didn’t mean to . . .”
“No, it’s fine.” Vada shook her head. “You didn’t know.”
“I’m so sorry. You don’t have to tell me anything else if you don’t want to.” Your eyes softened and you looked like you had kicked a puppy.
“I know,” she said, taking a breath.
“I see it on the news all the time, but I can’t imagine what it’s like to be there,” you said quietly. “Thank you for trusting me enough to tell me.”
Vada hated having to talk about it. If she could have it her way, she would bury it deep down so it never sees the light of day again. Still, she has to talk about it to her friends, her family, her therapist sometimes. She hated talking about it because she’d have to see the way people’s faces contort uncomfortably as they scramble to find consoling words to say. They don’t make her feel any better, and she never liked people seeing that broken side of her reflected back at them.
But when she looked at you right now, there wasn’t a trace of ego in the way that you look back at her. Deep down, she had always wanted to lay it on you, to give you a piece of her, not because she had to, but because she wanted to.
Because she wanted you to see it.
Vada found your hand by your side, soft and comforting. She kept her eyes on them; her hand and your hand, intertwined together. You embraced it and rubbed the back of her hand with your thumb before kissing it. A kiss of friendship, a kiss of love, a kiss of two young people in a city far from home together who had only just met. A kiss that said I see you, I hear you, you’ve got me around your corner.
“You wanna go grab some dinner?” She asked.
Dinner turned into even more talk. Towards late afternoon, you said you wanted to catch the sunset before going to the spot you claimed Monet painted the city. It was a quick drive, but you pumped your fists in the air when you got out of the car and were happy with how the sun rolled over the city just right.
“Come on, you’re gonna miss it!” You jogged towards the edge of the water, beaming like a little kid. It had become natural between the two of you to share skin-ship.
Behind the trees, there it was. Across the blue water, Antibes basked in the last few rays of sunlight in stoic tranquility, just as Monet had seen it. Perhaps she was in one of Monet’s paintings, frozen in time, stuck with you.
She found your hand again, your left this time, and once again your gaze followed, but this time, you trailed your gaze to her eyes. God help me, she thought.
There were so many things Vada wanted to blurt out, and she was close to it. Holding back was never her strong suit, but once she got a good look at the depth of your eyes, she felt that they were better appreciated in silence. Words don’t do anything but snitch on you anyway.
She didn’t need to, because the moment she turned to look at you, she felt you grab her face gently and lay the softest kiss on her lips.
The sun continued to glare, yet Antibes stared on.
Did Monet ever paint lovers?
Tumblr media
Liar.
Liar.
Vada felt like she’d make a mistake for giving in to it. She saw her younger self in the square that day, by the fountain, eating ice cream. She saw you talking to her, and she wanted to scream and tell herself to stop, to save herself the heartache. No one else was to blame, not even you, only her.
Antibes was a week ago, and she hasn’t really spoken to you ever since. She replayed the kiss over and over in her head, trying to pinpoint exactly the moment when you decided that keeping your distance would be the best course of action.
But then she remembered the way you acted alone with her was much different than how you were with the others around. She saw the way your eyes linger on her when you thought she was admiring the sea. She noticed the way you smiled bashfully when she brought up how good your essays were in front of your mentor. She remembered how you never let go of her hand when she grabbed it while you watched the sunset.
Marlène and Sasha had been a big help in getting her out of her slump. Mia was there to cuddle with her the first couple of nights after Vada told her everything, but rendezvous with Coco had kept her busy. But Marlène and Sasha were cool, and probably one of the healthiest couples she’s ever seen at the age of 20. She felt like their adoptive child hanging out with them, especially when Sasha would greet her by endearingly calling her Petit Vada.
“And have you talked to her?” Marlène asked, leaning over the lounge chair. She and Vada had been sunbathing and swimming at the Reed villa that afternoon.
“No.” Vada sighed. “It’s just—I just don’t get it! Why does she have to be so mysterious all the time? Like one moment we would be fine, and the next she’s somewhere else, someone else entirely.”
“That’s Y/N,” Marlène chuckled and took a sip from her margarita. “You know, when I and Sash first got together, he wasn’t as talkative as he is now. In fact, I was the one to ask him out. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and tell them.”
“That’s so easy to say,” Vada muttered, and put her face in her hands.
“That’s the kind of attitude you should save for when you go back to your other life, your American life. Are you going to university this fall? Summer’s halfway over, you know? Are you going to mull over it and let it pass by you?”
“Yes.” Vada’s voice was muffled through her hands.
“Carpe diem, mon chère.” Marlène shrugged. “It’s cheesy but it’s true.”
Andre being the ever BBQ dad that he was, decided to host a get-together with some friends that night, and encouraged Mia to invite hers. Everyone that Vada met at the beach showed up, including Noémie, except for you.
“She said she was busy,” Noémie waved it off. Vada pursed her lips. The fact that you talked to Noémie first stirred uneasy envy in the pit of her stomach.
She didn’t have the stomach to sit outside and spoil everyone’s fun with her sour face (most of all she didn’t want to give Noémie that satisfaction), so she made a plate for herself and ate in the living room.
“Hey, kiddo,” she looked up and saw Philip walk past her toward the kitchen. “Not feeling the party?”
Vada made a face to indicate a yes, but she didn’t want to explain further. “Just not really in the mood, sorry.”
“It’s okay. You can’t stop Andre from barbecuing when he has the urge or he’d literally combust.”
She nodded and smiled. “We don’t want that.”
“We’re serving fruits now. Want me to get you some?” He pointed at her empty plate.
“Yes, please. Thanks.” She hesitated for a beat. “Hey, Philip?”
The man turned around.
“How did you know that you wanted to marry Andre?”
Philip contemplated for a second, then walked over to the couch where she sat, leaning against it. “I didn’t wake up one day and choose to propose to him, Vada. It’s just one of those things when you start to notice that gnawing feeling in your chest. And you’d have to ask yourself, ‘Would I be fine going the rest of my life without them?’”
Vada nodded slowly and smiled as the man went back to the kitchen. She opened her phone and went to your messages. The last text from you was from a week ago. She began typing.
can we talk? Sent 8:47pm
A mere five minutes later, you responded.
of course Sent 8:47pm
meet me at the fountain at 10? Sent 8:48pm
see u there Sent 8:48pm
Vada found you walking back and forth by the Fountain, one hand in deep your pants pocket, the other holding a cigarette between your thumb and index, and puffing it as if it would give you a lifeline. She got off her bike and set it by the railing of the Fountain where you stood.
“You smoke?”
“Not usually,” you attempted to smile, shaking your arms as if to shake off an invisible burden. You were anxious, it was clear.
Vada didn’t know what to say next, so she leaned against the railing of the Fountain, rolling a pebble back and forth underneath her shoe.
“I’m sorry I didn’t come to see you earlier. I was busy.”
She nodded half-heartedly, not looking up. She wished you’d come up with a better excuse than that.
“Are you angry with me?”
“Angry’s a strong word, Y/N.”
Another puff. “Are you discontent with me?”
She should have prepared herself for the nit-picky bullshit from a writer. “I don’t have a valid reason to be upset with you, not really. Unless I’ve been reading this wrong.”
“You haven’t.” You answered quickly and met her eyes. “I promise. It wasn’t very mature of me. In fact, I think I acted like a total idiot. I’m really sorry.”
“Do you regret kissing me?”
“No, not at all. And you have to believe me.” You sighed exasperatedly, and she almost felt bad because you looked so anxious.
“Tell me what you’re thinking.” Vada stepped towards you, facing you head-on. “You’re asking me whether I’m upset with you, but I don’t even know what you’re thinking most of the time. And then you disappear as though I did something wrong! How fair is that?”
You nodded and took another drag from your cigarette. Then, you dropped the butt on the floor and stomped on it. “I’m thinking that I really want to kiss you right now.”
Vada scoffed. “I don’t believe you.”
You stood up from your spot against the railing, your face now inches from hers. “It’s true.”
“No, it’s not.”
“Yeah, it is.”
She felt the exact moment her body became as light as a feather as your lips pressed against hers. Her hands clenched by her side, and come up to hold onto your shoulders, because she was afraid her legs might give out under her. You angled your face and deepened the kiss, and Vada sighed into your mouth. This is what the poets all wrote about, the inevitability of giving in to what you’ve wanted for so long. She’s caged in you in between her body and the Fountain, kissing you and touching you as though her life depended on it.
You moved to lower your kisses to her neck, but she leaned back and saw a dark look in your eyes.
The sound of a street musician playing the saxophone in the distance somewhere echoed through the square. Wordlessly, Vada took your hand.
She followed you by bike towards your house, which was towards the end of the street closer to the beach. You returned to speaking only one or two words to her, telling her to put her bike by the door next to yours, to take her shoes off before coming in, and whether she wanted some water.
“Nice place.” It was another thing that she never thought to ask you about, nor did you tell her. But it wasn’t a surprise that your family was loaded too, considering the vacation home in an area like this.
“Thanks. It’s my parents’, though.”
“What do they do again?”
“Well, my mom does interior design and my dad is a football agent.”
“Football agent? Who does he represent?”
“Mostly American players in Europe; Christian Pulisic, Luca de la Torre, Gio Reyna. I remember my dad bringing me along to dinner with Sergio Agüero once because he considered a move to LAFC. That was pretty cool.” You stood against the wall in the hallway, next to the staircase, kicking your feet aimlessly. The small talk was to cover up for something else.
You fell into a deep silence. Vada took a step forward under the yellow light of the hallway and took your hand, stroking it gently.
“Can I kiss you?” She asked quietly.
You and she both knew you were way past just kissing. This was new territory, and there would be no going back after this.
You nodded, and she surged forwards to kiss you slowly. This time, it felt different. You kissed her without the chastity and fear of being looked in on but without the hunger of overcoming lust. It was a perfect blend of passion and appreciation, a marriage of everything felt within the past few weeks.
You lead her upstairs, towards your room. Once inside, your lips were still glued to hers as you let her walk backward, though your eagerness made her trip on your feet and fall onto the mattress.
“Oh, shit. I’m sorry. ‘M sorry.” The two of you burst into a fit of giggles as you tried to make it up to her with a shower of kisses.
As her giggles quickly turned into pleasant sighs, she decided to surrender herself to you, to her deepest desires ever since the day she arrived. You had charmed her from the moment she laid eyes on you. But now to feel your hands on her in all the right places took her to new heights of pleasure that she’s never experienced before. How beautiful it was to be herself, to be here in this moment, and to cherish and be cherished by you. But most of all, to hear you whisper her name and profanities in the most sinful and vulnerable ways, so unlike your polished and composed self in front of other people.
Vada, Vada, Vada . . .
She awoke in the morning, the sun piercing through the horizontal slits of the shut windows. There was sweat sticking to her skin, but she didn’t want to get up and shower, not when you were still soundly asleep, arm loosely wrapped around her torso. It was then that she realized that you both were still very naked, but she reveled in the skin-to-skin contact like it was giving her strength and vitality. The golden hummingbird sat on your chest, rising and falling with each of your breaths.
Vada caught the moment your eyes fluttered open and focused on her. Then a smile.
“What time is it?” You asked.
Vada leaned over to check the clock on the wall. “7:41.”
You grumbled. “My shift starts at 8:30.”
“You better chop-chop then.”
“I don’t wanna go.”
“Then don’t.” Vada placed her chin on your upper chest. “Stay here with me, and we can recreate last night.”
You chuckled and kissed her once. “That sounds really tempting.”
And yet, you moved to get up, but she held you back. “Five more minutes.”
“Only five?” You smirked.
“You don’t think I can do it in five?”
You grinned like a Cheshire cat and settled back.
Vada had to let you go eventually, you let her stay at yours and do as she pleased. She suddenly remembered that she never texted Mia back about staying out overnight, and sure enough, flipped her phone over to a few missed calls and text messages. After texting her back and reassuring her that she was okay, she got up and went to take a shower.
You came back around four and, as much as she didn’t want to admit it, it felt like forever until you walked through the doors again. And the moment you did, she pounced on you like a lion.
“I’m so sweaty,” you laughed but soon became lost in the sensation of her lips against yours.
You made love again that afternoon. Vada could almost picture the routine that she and you so easily fell into, how the puzzle pieces fit together so seamlessly. It almost felt like she had cheated somehow to feel this way, that it truly felt as magical and wonderful as it was laying in your arms, both of you stark naked. You had showered and smelled much like lavender. Your eyes were closed but you weren’t asleep, as she watched your chest rise and fall steadily. Sometimes you would murmur something and she would talk to you quietly, knowing you were tired from a day’s work at the beach.
“I knew I liked you from the first day, at the Fountain,” you said.
“Then why didn’t you say anything?!” Vada looked up and hit your chest playfully.
“I didn’t want to come on too strong and scare you away!”
“Jesus Christ,” she sat up and put her face in her palms. “Y/N, I wanted you so badly. Like, I could not go a day without thinking about you. It was actually becoming unhealthy how much I did.”
“Oh? I’m flattered.” You smirked and rubbed her knee. “Why didn’t you say anything?”
“Because . . . After Antibes, I wasn’t sure if you felt the same way.”
Your face dropped slightly. “I was scared to get close to someone. I think I caught myself then after we kissed. It was scary how much I wanted your company.”
Vada could understand. You’ve only known each other for three weeks. What were you to each other? Maybe it didn’t matter, there was something comforting about just existing as two souls being present with each other. She realized that the fear she’d harbored about losing her heart was all in vain; you never took it for yourself, you’d only pressed your hand against her chest and encouraged it to keep beating—to keep being hers—while you’d hoped that she would do the same to you.
“If you could go back to that day at the Fountain, and do it differently, would you?” Vada asked.
You thought for a second, then shook your head. “No. I always want to remember you this way.”
Vada swallowed thickly and avoided your eyes. “We’re leaving next week.”
A silence hung in the air, unspoken words stuck in her throat. Tell me to stay. Tell me you’ll come back with me. Tell me you’ll never love anyone else. Tell me you’d forget about me so as to soothe the pain.
“Then let’s make it count,” you brushed a hair from her eyes. “We’re not the first, and we won’t be the last to love each other.”
She dreaded the flight back home, having to pretend leaving you wouldn’t be as hard in front of Mia and her parents, and about 300 strangers. She’d miss biking everywhere and the beach and Lillian’s ice cream (she had grown to like it over Karim’s). She’d remember Antibes and Monet’s spot. She’d remember your face and how you seemed to appear in every memory of this trip.
Vada felt you brushing your finger under her eye and realized that it was wet. Then you brought her into your arms and held her tight as she hid from the world in your neck. You cooed and somehow it made Vada feel worse and started crying harder, clinging to your skin desperately.
She’d find space for the grief she was going to feel in her heart somewhere because she knew she’d rather live with the pain than be without you again.
The last week started on a Wednesday. Vada did the usual things she did the last few weeks—go to the beach, bike to town, hang out with the group; she wanted to soak into that last semblance of her summer routine before she had to leave, and everything would be different. She hadn’t given college much thought either. Deciding to move halfway across the country for it was the least stressful part of the whole process, as she was going in undecided. Mia was happy though, because they would only be a few hours apart by train.
Until then, Vada was too afraid to ask you about what would happen after the summer ended. If she asked, it would mean that it was close and it was real. You’d go back to school in Paris and start on your thesis, and everything would go back to the way it was.
Everything would go back to the way it was. As if nothing happened.
She had lived four weeks with you, how was she ever going to go the rest of her life without you?
She met up with you after dinner one night at the beach. The tides had come in much closer and were pulling on her heartstrings mercilessly. In and out, in and out . . . You were as quiet as the night, your eyes gazed towards the distance somewhere, looking pensive.
Still, she was afraid to ask.
“I lied,” you finally spoke. “I wished I had told you sooner how much I liked you.”
Vada remained silent and nodded. “We’ll call.”
“It won’t be the same.”
She knew too that it would never be the same the moment she leaves France. She realized that though she was afraid to ask, time was not on her side, and she didn’t have the luxury to be afraid anymore.
“Will you stay over tonight?” Vada asked, and you looked so happy that she did.
Once you stumbled through the door, you leaned in to kiss her instantly. Between wanting to kiss you back and suppressing moans, she told you to be quiet as you followed her upstairs, hand in hand. You failed, however, actually, both of you did, as your giggles trailed up the stairs and through the hallway. Vada would be lucky if only Mia heard you.
Tumblr media
The day she left for the airport, you came over to say goodbye. You greeted the Reeds first, giving Philip and Andre big hugs, then turned to Mia to hug as well and kiss her on the forehead.
Vada waited in the backyard. She felt almost pathetic and needy for wanting you to come out here quicker. It won’t be the same.
“Andre gave me this to keep for my parents.”You held up a bottle of wine by the neck. “1983, nice.”
Your smile died down when you noticed her silence. “You got everything?”
She nodded. Wordlessly, she stepped forwards to wrap her arms around your frame. She thought she’d cry, but it was as if her brain was already actively shutting down trying to block out this memory to save her the future heartbreak.
You pressed her tightly against your chest and swayed her back and forth. Upon releasing her, you set down the bottle of wine next to your feet and took off your necklace.
“I want you to have this.” You opened her palm and neatly placed the jewelry inside. “That way, you won’t forget.”
How could you ever think that I would forget when I’m afraid I’ll never be able to let go of this summer?
“I wish we had more time,” Vada said.
“Bye, Cinderella.” Your eyes were glossy now.
The car door was wide open, waiting to take her away from you. For a split second, she considered dropping everything to stay.
She leaned in to kiss you once, deep and hard, “Bye, Y/N.” Then she walked away, the hummingbird clenched in her fist.
You followed her and watched her get in the car. You watched her close it with force and you watched her refuse to make eye contact with you, but you saw the way her lips trembled. You watched the car take her away from you and grazed the spot on your chest where the hummingbird was missing.
It was mid-July, the hottest day of the year, and yet, the ocean waves—blue as it gets—continued to crash against the shore, on and on and on.

love is such an uncertain feeling... how does one know you're even in love? does the sign of my heart beating and palms sweating when you're around indicate love? that makes no sense, those same symptoms are the same as to when i get called upon to speak in front of the class. why is it only when you're here i want to be with you?

twin peaks but it happens in 2010. laura palmer have iphone etc etc
this ask has been haunting me since i saw it last night oh my god okay okay so
i wanted to lead with laura being an influencer but no one was quite influencing in 2010 yet. but the point here being that i think she posts a lot online and cultivates her online image very carefully (very soft, carefree, excited teenager) and has a LOT of followers on everything and always gets a ton of likes. bc it's laura, she's so beautiful and special and popular, of course everyone is following her, of course everyone is liking all her posts to get a piece of her
she has a twitter (laurapalmer93) where she posts a lot of pictures with little captions like.......'morning donuts at the diner!!' with a picture of the donuts and a milkshake or a Coffee To Be An Adult, 'can you believe this guy? <3' with a picture of bobby making a face (or even.........dare i say it...........doing the dougie), a picture of donna and james with '<33333333' (modern emojis were just getting really big then but i myself was not a big emoji user in 2010 yet, so neither is laura), 'don't tell ;)' with a picture of her holding a cigarette (of course everyone still smokes in the high school bathrooms).
one time she gets away with posting the lyrics to if i die young by the band perry (IF I DIE YOUNG! BURY ME IN SATIN! LAY ME DOWN ON A BED OF ROSES!) (FUNNY WHEN YOU'RE DEAD HOW PEOPLE START LISTENING!) bc it's a popular song. it raises a few eyebrows but it's a song and it's laura. how seriously do you take teen angst, even among your friends? that's just what laura does. what's there to really worry about, huh? (the song was released in may 2010 but let's say the lead up to her death is in 2010)
on facebook she posts a lot of volunteer stuff. school dance photos, which she helps organize. buy some cookies to support the french club!! she's very involved with student council, and she organizes the group halloween costume. her facebook is filled with photos of her with other people, but not really any of just her. she doesn't post a lot of statuses, but they're usually about homework or tests or 'feels like summer!' towards the end of the school year. she's friends with her parents. she definitely takes ap classes.
she has a private vent twitter (lostinthewoods) with zero followers that she uses as a diary bc she thinks it'll be safer than having it physically written down. her childhood lisa frank diary with the tiny lock and glitter gel pens that she kept in her bed post went missing, after all. her vent twitter is filled with sooooooo many tweets bc this was still the 160 character limit days and she would just post and post and post especially late at night. (she definitely has string lights in her room.) she is a MASTER of using her phone with no one seeing -- she has the layout absolutely memorized. she was only caught texting in class once and of course the teacher let it go.
bob/leland finds her passwords and breaks into the vent twitter and leaves her horrifying tweets she sees later, instead of the back and forth they have in the diary and leland ripping the pages out.
i think she has a third twitter, for sex, but i'm not sure if that tracks for the time period? (snapchat wasn't a thing until fall 2011.) or like a forum sort of thing? i think it's still super easy for laura to sneak out, even in an increased security camera world. there's still a lot of stress on the, yknow, ~secret unexposed underbelly of the world especially in a time of more eyes on everything~ in the 2010s.
meanwhile, james posts music a lot on facebook, and also acoustic covers of songs. like. yknow. HEY SOUL SISTER. donna loves the original pusheen stickers. they record the picnic video on her flip video camera. mike loves icanhascheezburger, and he jailbreaks his phone. audrey gets really into audrey hepburn quote posting, Aesthetic France, black and white photos, berets, has a photography phase and carries and actual camera bc it's Vintage. she's an early tumblr user. no one else in school has a tumblr yet, so she feels very cool but also very lonely about it.
harry has very little understanding of social media, however cooper is very into all social media, he finds it delightful. he enjoys a good cat video. he looks through all of laura's photos, her tweets, facebook videos, and i think there's, honestly even more of a feeling of tragedy bc of how much more physical evidence there is available of laura's life, lingering fingerprints, last tweets, last posts, passwords to put in and information to see, cold blue computer light, the even worse voyeurism in people expecting so much of your life to be online, in watching it play out online, in the image laura created for herself online to be the person people expected
donna rereads laura's twitter in the dead of night, just over and over again. goes back through their texts. so much of grief has become so much more public with social media and using it as a teenager, and there's this back and forth in donna of not posting anything and then posting the most miserable statuses about losing her best friend.
i know i should get deeper into the investigation but i keep thinking instead of how laura definitely gets a 20/20 special. it's probably definitely called 'the secret life of the american teenager.' (bc there was that show on at the time with the same name) elizabeth vargas visits twin peaks, is appropriately grim, there's a lot of b roll of the town and the woods but without the grace of twin peaks' cinematography. they play up the creation of a narrative big, as they always do on 20/20. the revelation of her 'double life' is at the halfway mark and simultaneously not discussed enough and overestimated. 'laura palmer was your average, everyday teenager -- she liked horses. cats. she got good grades, was homecoming queen, had a boyfriend on the football team. she volunteered on weekends. she had her whole life ahead of her. or was there more to the story than anyone knew? was there a dark side to the all-american girl?' oh, it's agonizing. the trailers play up a lot of potential spooky woods stuff that isn't followed through on in the actual episode.
now 20/20 prides itself on getting the story right, so i feel like it's.........i feel like they have to say it's leland at the end (and they definitely never get into anything about bob). but i also think, for some reason, it could easily have a 'we never found the killer' ending. especially re: s3........the thing is, i feel like laura's death particularly is the kind of thing that shows up on 20/20, but the rest of the circumstances would've ended up on like the unsolved mysteries website (the last revival ended in 2010, before the netflix reboot in 2019) (especially with WELL OUR FBI AGENT WENT MISSING). and there's so much online to put together in a website about it, there's so much for people online to dig into who have never even been to twin peaks, to think they know a town and the people in it and the girl who died even if it's just literally THE MOST DISGUSTING VOYEURISM IN THE WHOLE WORLD i just think there's such a. horror in that. people have the most, just, enraging takes when they get involved in a Murder That Happened Somewhere Else. people thinking they alone can figure out a mystery they've never seen, they can of course see something no one else has. and it's different than the people in the town ignoring it -- i think a lot of the secrets in twin peaks stay the same, no matter the time period, so of course it's still, a terrible dying town killing the people in it, maybe even quieter than it is in the original, some new infrastructure but old buildings, not all of them occupied anymore, ANYWAY -- like of course yes people in the town ignore the same amount they did in the original, all small towns bury things. but just bc the town itself isn't paying attention doesn't mean that some rando online is going to know more, no matter how much they think they will. there's like an entitlement to details of a murder, an I Must Be The Hero, The Savior, bc i'm on a fucking reddit thread about it
now i have zero (0) idea of how medical science and forensics work, but i have to assume there have been some advancements in the field between 1989/1990 and 2010/2011. the town still rushes the funeral, but would albert have been able to find anything else sooner? what is it he would have found to point to leland sooner? oh........dna testing, maybe? would he be able to find out about leland right away? there's more of a sense of urgency, maybe less of a slowness between events, even more of a shattering horror. maybe leland goes missing in an attempt to cover things up. hmmmmmm.
final note -- cooper gets called mulder as a nickname bc the x files happened as a show in this universe.

Eddie Munson, Bug Wrangler
(Cw: Spider. Not graphic or anything scary, this ficlet is all fluff) This is for @glitterfang, one of the most brilliant authors of our generation. To my dearest pizzabones, Happy Birthday Becca. Ily.
Eddie is cozied up on his brand new couch, covered in a pile of ridiculously soft blankets, reading a captivating fantasy novel he picked up from the library down the street. Warm light is spilling out from the lamp on the side table by his head and Eddie is... so happy. He fucking loves his new apartment. He fucking loves that he has an apartment in general but especially that he's living in said apartment with his high school crush turned boyfriend, Steve Harrington. Everything just feels so soft and good and safe for the first time in his life. He sinks further down into the cushions of the couch when he hears the shower turn off in the other room. He smiles to himself.
He has the perfect seat for a night like tonight. The apartment layout is a little confusing with the living room being in between the bathroom and the bedroom, but Eddie is not complaining. He's not complaining because it means Steve has to walk through the living room and pass by Eddie in nothing but a towel to get back to the bedroom. And Eddie will never get tired of that view.
Soon enough, the bathroom door opens and out walks the most beautiful goddamn man Eddie has ever laid his eyes on. Water droplets are falling from his hair to the hardwood floor and Steve looks up when he notices he's being watched. Eddie is peaking out from the top of his book, clearly hiding a smile.
"Oh hi there." Steve greets softly. He slows down on his walk to the bedroom.
"Hi."
"You come here often?" Steve jokes.
"Nope. First time, actually," Eddie lowers his book and gives Steve a once over, "I'm sight seeing."
Steve huffs and walks into their room calling out "Be right back." Eddie sighs contentedly and looks back down at his book wondering if it's worth trying to get back into it. From the bedroom, Eddie hears something small clatter to the ground followed by a loud inhale of breath. He's expecting Steve to say something. Anything.
"Babylove? You okay?" Eddie asks while sitting up, voice laced with concern. The room is silent for a moment before Steve walks backwards out of the bedroom in boxer briefs and a tshirt. He turns to face Eddie, face pale, while continuously glancing back into the room.
"What happened?" Eddie moves the blankets off his legs. He has literally never seen Steve nervous like this, not in the face of monsters and not in the face of dangerous men. It's making him nervous, himself.
"There's. Uhm." Steve quickly whips his head around to check the room again before sheepishly looking at Eddie. Eddie gets up and walks towards Steve. He puts a hand on the small of Steve's back and leans through the door frame expecting to see something that could have rendered Steve speechless. He sees a stick of deodorant on the floor.
"What?" Eddie asks quietly, lifting his hand to cradle Steve's cheek.
"It's embarrassing," Steve concedes, deflating.
"We're so past embarrassing, babe. Tell me what's wrong?" Eddie combs Steve's wet hair back with his fingers. Steve searches Eddie's eyes. For what? He's not sure. Judgement, maybe? When Steve finds only an openly concerned expression there, he buries his face in Eddie's neck.
"There's a spider." Steve whines, his voice being muffled by the fabric of Eddie's sweatshirt. And Eddie wants to laugh. He wants to laugh because this whole time he thought Steve was this fearless god of a man. Untouchable in every way. But he is so suddenly endeared that his boy is afraid of spiders. He doesn't laugh because he understands the fragile vulnerability that Steve is trusting him with in this moment.
"Oh baby, lets get him out of here! A free loader in our brand new apartment? I don't think so." Eddie moves back and kisses Steve sweetly on the forehead before ducking to meet his eyes. "Show me where he is?" And Steve's shoulders subtly loosen in relief, glad that he's not being made fun of or maybe glad that Eddie is willing to be the bug wrangler between the two of them.
"Hold on," Eddie turns and jogs into the kitchen where he grabs a glass and an open piece of mail.
"Hurry Eddie he's moving." Steve calls out and Eddie full on giggles.
When he walks into their bedroom, and god the novelty of sharing a bedroom with Steve Harrington will never, ever wear off, Eddie sees him staring at the wall right above their nightstand. Steve turns to him with a distressed expression and points at the wall uselessly. Eddie moves forward and places the glass on the wall around the little guy. He slips the paper under the glass and carefully brings the cup away from the wall.
"Give him a name before we kick him out so we know what to call him when we warn the neighbors about the dreaded trespasser." Eddie says holding the paper tight against the glass. He's trying to make the situation as light and playful as possible. Wants Steve to know there's no reason to be embarrassed. The corner of Steve's lip lifts slightly and Eddie is glad to see it.
"Ronald." Steve decides after some internal deliberation. He makes his way to the window and slides it open.
"Reagan?"
"Yeah. Ronald Reagan." Steve agrees with a smile. Eddie beams, pleased that Steve always plays along.
"Perfect name for such a heinous creature." Eddie responds while following him. Eddie lifts the paper off of the cup and shakes the cup out so that the spider falls onto the ledge a few feet below their window. "Fuck you Ronald Reagan!" Eddie shouts out the window. Steve lets out a surprised laugh and shushes Eddie. "Say it babe!" Eddie encourages. He sets the glass on the window seal and puts his arms around Steve's waist.
"You're gonna get us in trouble, Eds." Steve nuzzles into his cheek. Eddie frees one of his hands and puts his weight into closing the window.
"Thank you." Steve tacks on after Eddie has returned to holding him.
"Please, it's a given that I'm gonna protect my baby from war criminals" Eddie whispers pressing a kiss against his eyebrow. Eddie feels the small huffs of breath against his neck when Steve laughs softly.
"No, but really. Eddie. Thank you. For not making fun of me and just always making me feel-" Steve looks at the ground so he doesn't have to meet Eddie's eyes. "Safe. No matter what. I'm sorry that I'm kind of high maintenance."
"Hey! I think you are severely underestimating just how much I'm willing to do for you." Eddie pulls Steve closer and starts swaying them where they stand. Eddie admires the sight of the warm lamplight that haloes around Steve's head. "And for the record, you're not high maintenance at all. But it would be absolutely fine with me if you were." Eddie adds.
Steve's eyebrows furrow like he's working something out in his head. He doesn't understand how much he's loved. But that's fine, Eddie will keep working at it every day. Chiseling away at Steve's walls like the most patient and dedicated sculptor there ever was.
"Let me dry your hair for you, yeah?" Eddie asks pulling Steve back out towards the bathroom. Eddie expects Steve to say something like 'it's okay. I can do it' or 'Eddie... you don't have to.' But instead he says:
"Okay." Sweet and simple. Eddie will count that as a battle won in the war of "Getting Steve to understand his worth."

My Future in You | 2.0 | Bradley Bradshaw x Reader au
Tumblr media
Previous Chapter | Next Chapter | Masterlist
Synopsis: Bradley’s twenty-two years old and not where he’s supposed to be. He’s supposed to be out of the academy by now. Instead, he’s retaking his senior year of college and praying to god that he gets into flight school. Mav’s gone, his mom’s gone. He’s mad at the world. Then, a hook up at a Halloween party changes his future even more than he could have imagined.
Warnings: accidental pregnancy, references to abortion in a few chapters, angst, will be fluff eventually, will be smut so 18+, enemies to lovers kinda thing, time jump of a month and a half / two months
“Your sister is fucking insane.” Bradley grunts.
“Shut up and just lift your end,” Jake demands, straying under the weight of lifting his end of the couch. A soft sigh and the two of them lift again, hoisting more than their combined body weight’s worth of sectional sofa. “And she wasn’t crazy until you got her pregnant.”
“I can hear you!” You call back from the small kitchen. Sitting cross-legged on the black and white diamond shaped tile, surrounded by boxes and new plates and bubble wrap. Your system for unpacking is fool-proof and they’ll just get in the way if they try to help. That’s why you’ve had them rearrange the layout of the living room three times already.
There isn’t too much left in your life that you have control over these days. Graduating two years early, at the top of your class, and the only people there to be proud of you were your big brother and the guy who got you pregnant. Delaying your grad job, which you worked your ass off to get, until after you’ve given birth. Finding out you had been approved to switch to their Florida office in an email from your father’s secretary.
Moving to a place you’ve never been before, with a guy you didn’t even like up until recently. Carrying a child that’ll probably never have a name because you and Bradley barely agree on anything. Knowing that Jake, your only constant through this entire ordeal, is shipping off to basic training in a day and a half.
Everything’s hurtling forwards, you can practically hear the time rushing by like wind in your ears. Dragged along with it, no choice but to keep up, there’s a voice in your head that keeps telling you it’s okay to be scared. You just aren’t sure if it’s okay to be this scared.
He’s moving around more and more these days, growing stronger and bigger. His kicks are no longer butterflies in your tummy, but now pinpointed and real, which is terrifying in itself. More recently, you’ve been wondering if he can feel how afraid you are. You don’t want him to worry.
By hell or high water, you’re going to give this little boy all the love that you’ve got. Afraid or not, he needs you and you’ll keep going for him. Being good for him is just about all you can manage. That, and unpacking the way that you need to.
Setting the plates in a cabinet, stacking bowls, glasses in an overhead cupboard. Ignoring Jake and Bradley’s bickering to the best of your ability.
Florida’s even hotter than you were expecting. It’s the last day of May and the air conditioning isn’t getting fixed until tomorrow. Home is no longer an upstairs apartment or a cramped room on the first floor of a fraternity. It’s now an almost two bedroom downstairs unit on a quiet, residential street in west Pensacola.
Living room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen with new stove and refrigerator. Dark brown, LVP floors and new paint throughout. You have your own Lanai and storage outside unit. Also includes washer and dryer. This northeast location is tucked away in a private dead end street but has easy access to the new University shopping area. It’s nice for a first place. The bedroom is a decent size, and the spare room will work as a nursery, even if its intended purpose was an office.
Your relationship with Bradley has turned into a type of Schrödinger problem. Neither together nor apart. Sharing a room, preparing to share a life, with little more in common than the future you roped him into. He seems excited now. He’s jealous that you can feel the baby and that he can’t. He’s looking forward to meeting his son.
But, as you turn your head and look through the archway, towards him wiping sweat from his brow in the living room, guilt surges through you. Wearing gym shorts and a backwards cap, those stupid roman numerals tattooed on his bicep as he sighs softly and leans his head back, he looks so young.
You’re younger, but this decision was yours. You wonder if he would choose this if he got to do it all over again. Certainly not. All those years of carefree fun, getting to be himself finally, figuring out who he is. Now, those years belong to your son. Swallowing softly, you turn your attention back to the only thing that you can control.
Arranging spices in the rack hung over the stove.
The afternoon hurtles by just as quickly as all of the other days have recently. The routine is the same. Jake takes the couch, glad that Bradley sprung for the corner sectional that’s just about as good as sleeping on the mattress. After a day of not really talking, Bradley slips into bed beside you.
It’s never awkward, but it probably should be. Sharing all of this. A lease, a child, a future, with someone that isn’t even really yours.
“Man, I am fucking exhausted.” Bradley mumbles as his head hits the pillow, exhaling slowly into the comfort of this new space. Your first night in your new home with him. So, you connect with him in just about the only way you ever have.
Even with this protruding, exceedingly rounded stomach, somehow he still wants to fuck you at every opportunity he gets. Looking in the mirror these days is getting harder. It’s not that you have an issue with the way you look now, you think the bump is actually kind of cute. It’s just that you don’t look anything like you used to, and you’re starting to wonder if you’ll ever be that girl again.
Running your fingers through his curls, you lean over and kiss his temple softly. He hums at the feeling, reaching out and resting his hand on your hip. He turns his head and waits for you to kiss him without opening his eyes. You press your lips softly to his, his fingers curling softly to press into the fabric of your shorts. You ask gently, lips grazing his, “Too tired?”
His lips tilt up into a soft smile as he runs his fingers along the waistband of your bottoms, brown eyes flickering up to meet yours, “Never been too tired for sex.”
Turning the two of you over, he settles between your legs, working his talented mouth along all the exposed skin that he can reach.
Curling his fingers into your roots, he moans softly into the curve of your jaw, pressing delicate kisses along your throat. Part of these past few weeks has been learning your cues, your sweet spots and your sensitivities. He’s getting good at it. It’s right as you hum and lift your hips eagerly against his that there’s a sharp jolt, a soft, dull pain as the impact hits your mid-section.
Bradley sits back quickly on his knees.
You groan in complaint, rubbing over the sore spot at the top of your developing bump. It’s only once you lean your head back to sigh in complaint that you clock the look on his face. Eyes blown wide, lips parted, staring at you like you just grew a second head.
Over the past few weeks, the little guy has been getting more and more active. Wriggling around a lot, you’ve been feeling him almost constantly the past few days. It has been ridiculously frustrating, suffering in silence, Bradley constantly frowning and telling you that he can’t feel anything. The realization comes quickly.
“Was that him?” Bradley breathes out softly, brows scrunching together.
You push yourself up on your elbows, lips quirking softly. The pregnancy websites said that Bradley should have been able to feel the kicks about a week ago, you were getting worried. Bradley reaches out again and tenderly rests his hands against the bottom of your rounded stomach.
The two of you wait patiently for it to happen again, Bradley’s lips falling into a disappointed frown as your baby stops kicking. He sighs, moving to lie down beside you and smoothing his hand over the top of your stomach as he kisses your cheek.
“I’m jealous that you get to feel him all the time, moving around in there,” He mumbles, shaking his head softly. “It’s like you’ve met him already and I have to wait three more months.”
You scoff, settling down onto the sheets that you had picked out, staring at the white ceiling, “I don’t think you’d be as jealous if he was kicking your bladder like he kicks mine.”
“Probably no—“ As Bradley speaks, your lips part, jolted by another soft kick. He raises his eyebrows as you grab one of his hands and place it over your stomach. Nothing again. He furrows his brows slightly, glancing up at you expectantly.
“Say something.” You prod him.
“Um… like what? — I don’t know what to say to a —“ His sentence stops abruptly, jaw hanging open as he feels a small but unmistakable kick against his palm. “Holy shit, that’s what you’ve been feel— He did it again!”
You giggle, resting your hand on top of Bradley’s as he beams at you, “I think he likes your voice.”
His eyes widen slightly, making him look even younger than he is. It’s hard to tell whether it’s excitement or fear on his face to begin with. He leans down and presses lips to your stomach.
“I am so,” he stops, kissing your skin tenderly again, hands cradling your growing bump. “So excited to meet you, little man.”
Your heart feels like it just about splits into two and you aren’t even sure why. It’s supposed to be a happy moment. You should be happy about this. Bradley feels a slight hiccup and glances up. Your eyes are filled with tears, stinging and threatening to spill out onto your cheeks.
“Hey,” Bradley says softly as he shifts up the bed and wraps his arms around you. “Hey… it’s okay. What’s wrong?”
You swallow, trying to hold in a sob that consumes your chest and strangles your vocal chords. Sniffling, you rest your head against his shoulder. “Do you wish that we weren’t having him?”
His brows scrunch together as he tries to piece together what about that interaction could have possibly given you that impression.
“Of course not! — Where’s this coming from?” He frowns, resting his cheek against the top of your head as he smooths his fingers along your back. You’re in your third trimester now, and the pregnancy websites said that your hormones might be kind of out of whack. But you got through graduation without a hitch.
It’s as the thought crosses his mind that you break in his arms. Hunching forwards, sobbing into your hands, covering your mouth so that Jake won’t hear you crying from the living room.
“Hey… did — did I say something wrong?” Bradley asks gently, face creasing in concern. He kisses your shoulder. “I’m sorry, I—“
You sniffle and shake your head. “Don’t say sorry. Please.”
“…Okay,” He smooths his palm tenderly along your spine once again, now totally lost. “Babe, I think you’re gonna have to spell it out for me here. What should I do?”
It’s not fair on him, any of this. You pull yourself together long enough to wipe your tear-stained cheeks and string together a sentence. “Just… if we could go back and do it all again, would you… do it like this?”
“I’d probably have suggested a plan B or something.”
You look up, eyes filled with tears, throat burning.
“I’m sorry, bad time for a joke,” He shakes his head quickly and kisses your forehead. “Look, we both know that this wasn’t planned. But it happened, it’s happening — and no, I don’t regret being here with you.”
You allow yourself to sink into his arms as he kisses the top of your head and squeezes you softly.
“Is everything okay with you?” His fingers graze along the nape of your neck and over your shoulder softly. “You’ve not really said a lot to me since graduation.”
He smooths his hand over your stomach, feeling another soft kick against his palm. It’s almost midnight now, he hopes that this kid isn’t going to be this much of a night owl once it’s born.
“Everything’s just moving really fast.” You say quietly as you settle back down onto your side. Bradley copies, laying on his side so that he’s facing you, his stomach pressed to yours. He nods slowly. “Jake’s leaving, and you’re starting work, and my parents still won’t talk to me. The baby doesn’t even have a name. I’m just scared.”
He leans forwards and kisses your mouth softly. “We’ll figure it out.”
A dry laugh escapes your lips, it’s a helpless thing, really. You wipe the tears from your cheeks and shake your head slowly, “How are you so chilled out about this?”
“I’m not,” He promises, voice quiet, something in the way that he looks at you so earnestly makes you soften. “I’m scared too. But we’ll figure it out.”
A silence lingers between the two of you. No more tears, no more lump in your throat, your heart rate slowing enough that you think you might actually manage to sleep tonight. Bradley leans forwards and kisses your cheek, then flicks off the bedside lamp.
You turn onto your other side and he presses himself into your back, wrapping an arm around you and resting it against your stomach. He’s been sleeping like this for the past week straight. It always settles his racing mind. Having both of you in his arms.
He’s warm. Lips press gently to your neck and he hums softly into the curve of your neck.
You exhale softly, shuffling back against his bare chest. This feels awfully grown up. Seven months pregnant, laying skin to skin, in your new shared home.
The next morning, it’s time to drive Jake to the airport. Basic training is three months long. The next time he sees you, you’ll be a mother.
“I love you,” He says softly, wrapping his arms around you. Your stomach bumps into his as you hug him. He’s still getting used to that. “I’m gonna be back before you know it.”
“I know, I know,” You breathe out, squeezing him tighter and then patting his back as you let go. “Just be safe. Don’t do anything stupid.”

Jake chuckles, giving a quick shrug as he picks his bag up from the floor and slings it over his shoulder. His attention turns to Bradley. “Take care of my sister, Bradshaw.”
“Always.” Bradley answers. You turn your head and scrunch your brows slightly as you look up at him. He drapes an arm around your shoulder and offers Jake a sincere smile.
As Jake turns and heads towards his gate, the two of you are left together. Him still leaning into your side. Always. You stare at him. Flushed skin, wearing a faded grateful dead t-shirt and blue jeans, smiling at you.
Just you and him. Alone, in a new state. Him swearing always and you staying up at night and wondering if there’s even a tomorrow between the two of you.
Ten weeks left until your due date.

TEACHER'S PET (Pt.3)
Tumblr media
cw: 18+ (sorry, posting this in a rush, i'll update the cw later)
You step into the large dim pub, the air cloudy with smoke. Or is it steam? It’s definitely steam, you decide as you shove your ID back into your pocket with one hand, and rip your scarf off with the other. The room is long, a double-sided bar running down the centre. You can see the room open up into a sunken area in the distance. Amidst the countless bodies, packed like sardines in a tin, you can tell the bar is stuck in the 70s, crammed with colorful lights, decor and liquor, chipping paint peeking through the few remaining bare spots on the walls. You scan the room, taking everything in as you pull off all your layers, exposing your less than modest outfit underneath.
After experiencing the high of your Professor commenting on your clothing, all you wanted was more- like a drug, you were desperate for your next hit, deciding on the shortest, tightest black dress you could find in your closet with a pair of black thigh high boots. You’d admired yourself in the mirror earlier, the way your figure shone through the thin material of your dress, giddy at the thought of your teacher seeing you in something so inappropriate for school.
“I’m going to find the girls- see you guys after the show,” Bex’s sister says from behind you as she tears off her coat, then waves excitedly at someone in the distance.
“See ya!” Bex chimes excitedly. “The stage is this way, I think,” she says as she grabs your hand and drags you towards the back, not even looking twice at her sister.
“Bex, wait-“ you stop Bex before offering her a look of pleading. “I’m gonna need to get a lot drunker than this before I can consider watching my Professor sing…” Bex rolls her eyes at you, but smiles as she lets you tug her towards the bar. Your half of the bottle of wine you’d shared with Bex back at her apartment hadn’t done much for you since you’d drank it an hour ago, and you were keen to rid yourself of your shaking hands and tense body- the knowledge of your Professor being somewhere in the vicinity all too much for you to handle.
You immediately order two tequila shots and two tequila sodas for the both of you as you pull out your wallet, the bar tender obviously eyeing up Bex, who’s distracted where she stands behind you at the crowded bar.
“Will you make mine a double, please?” you whisper loudly to the bartender as Bex scans the bar, searching to see if any of your other classmates are here. When the bartender finally passes you your drinks, you hand Bex her shot and drink, cheersing her with a smile, and she grins back at you, just as eager to see your sinfully-sexy Professor on stage as you are. At least, so she claims- you don’t think it’s possible for anyone to experience the level of desire you feel for him...
You quickly down your shots, wincing in tandem at the burning sensation as you bite down on your lime wedges.
“God that’s rank- alright, Professor time,” she smiles devilishly at you before dragging you to the back of the bar and down into the sunken pit surrounding the stage. You look up to see the ceiling much higher in this area, then notice the beautiful wooden balcony wrapping around the back half of the room. This bar is so charming- it reminds you of something you’d seen in a film, the cloudy air and quirky layout so uncommon for bars these days.
You see Bex try to weave her way into the crowd that’s already built up around the stage, but no one seems to be budging. You try again from another angle, but the crowd is already too packed- mostly with eager girls bouncing on their toes in anticipation, you notice.
“What the fuck! How are we supposed to see the show from back here?” Bex curses angrily in frustration, looking around hopelessly.
“Well, we could try the balcony?” You suggest. It seems only a few people had congregated up there, most people too drunk or oblivious to notice its existence, apparently.
“You genius,” Bex says as she grins at you, then takes your hand in hers before turning back towards the stairs. You both begin to make your way over when you eye your drink- you’ve already downed half of it.
“Hey Bex, we might as well grab another shot before we head up, don’t you think?” You say with a giggle as you pass the bar, the first shot already starting to work its magic, loosening you up a little.
“Oh well if you insist,” Bex says as she dramatically rolls her eyes in mock-annoyance, then grins at you excitedly as she grabs her wallet.
Leaning against the bar as Bex pays, you scan the room properly for the first time. You don’t see him anywhere by the bar, nor do you see him anywhere in the crowd behind you when you crane your neck over your shoulder, trying your best to look inconspicuous as you hear Bex flirt with the bartender. You sigh in defeat as you take one last scan of the now jam-packed audience, your Professor no where to be found and turn back to see Bex handing you your shot. You laugh together as your cheers, tapping your glass on the bar before raising it to your lips. Your eyes glance over to a figure weaving through the crowd holding something red, and just as you’re about to tip your glass back, your eyes lock onto Professor Healy’s. He’s mid laugh- something his band mate behind him must have just said. He looks so beautiful when he laughs, you realize. You’ve never seen him laugh before- not truly. He’s breathtaking. But before you can savor it properly, his face turns, his dark eyes now boring into yours. You want to smile at him, but you can’t- you’re too captivated by him, his eye contact too powerful. He shakes his head at you slowly as he continues approaching you and you take this opportunity to ignore his look of disapproval and down your shot.
You turn your gaze back to Bex, but she’s distracted as the bartender hands her his phone. She giggles as she enters her phone number, completely oblivious to the fact that her Professor was only a few feet away from you both now.
You can feel his eyes on you as he gets closer, pulling at yours, and eventually you lose the battle of tug of war just as he reaches you. He doesn’t slow his speed but weaves himself between you and the cluster of people standing around you right as you look up at him, hanging his head down to look at you as he passes. You almost flinch from the intensity of his eyes, the thrill of his lips only a few inches from yours, your skin tingling as you feel the warmth of his breath wash over your face, almost in slow motion.
Before you can think of anything to say, he’s gone. You stand, dazed as you watch the back of his head move through the crowd and towards the stage- the stage!
“Bex, they’re going on, we gotta go!” You say with unnecessary urgency in your voice as you turn to find her giggling up at the bartender who’s practically purring at her now.
“I’ll come find you in a minute,” she says, waving you off lazily, “you go ahead.”
You roll your eyes, then dash over the stairs without a second-glance, the crowd already cheering as the band begins to assemble on stage. You reach the top of the stairs, happy to see only a handful of people hanging out up here with loads of free balcony space. You walk up to the edge, leaning over the banister and finally take in the sight of your Professor on stage. You hadn’t even noticed what he was wearing when you first saw him, the outfit practically as slutty as yours in comparison to what he wore at school.
His hair is a mop of dark curls again, hanging over his face as he plugs his red guitar into a nearby amp. You’re taken aback by his fit body, the thin black tank top tight against his torso, exposing his thick, muscled arms. Your eyes travel over every ripple, every muscle, every vein, every tattoo, drinking him in at last- you’re practically drunk by the time your eyes reach his chest, a flutter of pleasure down below when you spot the large chest tattoo peeking out from behind his ribbed-top. His dark washed-out jeans are torn in a few places, and his silver earring glints in the stage lights as people continue to cheer loudly below him. He finally looks out into the crowd, offering them a smug half-smile, and they only cheer louder at his acknowledgement.
“Who’s ready for a bit of fun?” He says into the mic, he says cheekily. Before he’s even finished his sentence, the bands starts to play, and the show begins.
There’s no other way to describe him than utterly captivating. He sings with such passion and grit, you feel your insides tumbling. You never could have imagined what a great dancer he was, every lyric punctuated with a move so effortless, you can’t help but wonder how it would translate in the bedroom…
Four songs later, you feel Bex slide next to you, her smile apologetic as the cheers from the crowd die down. You nudge her with your shoulder and wiggle your eyebrows at her teasingly and she rolls her eyes at you with a smile she can’t rid herself of. You’re happy for your new friend, excited for the inevitable debrief you’d be receiving about the bartender once the show was over. The sound of your Professors voice catches your attention, and you both turn to watch him as he addresses the crowd.
“How’s it going out there, are you all having a good time?” He asks the audience. You and Bex cheer loudly with the crowd, and you can see your Professor smile in response. It makes your knees weak.
“Good, because I’m about to ruin it,” he says with a cheeky grin, but the audience only screams louder. “This next song is a bit naughty-“ he says darkly, his voice distracted as he turns to check if the band is ready to begin, then turns back to the mic, his eyes flicking up to meet yours perfectly as he says in a lust-soaked voice, “This song is about forbidden desire.”
Your heart stutters as you look back at your Professor in shock. He turns back to face the band as someone triggers a moody sounding track to start, but you don’t even notice. His eyes found you immediately- had he known where you were standing this whole time? Did he mean to look at you? You were smart enough to know that wasn’t likely, but something inside you suspected you were wrong…
You watch as your Professor lights a cigarette on stage, his cheeks hollowing in the stage lights, smoke trailing out his pink lips as he sings wistfully. You don’t catch all the lyrics, but his words hit you anyways, the sound of them portraying the very hopelessness that’d grown to feel so familiar to you this week.
The song builds, and he begins to belt, the emotion raw as it hits you where you lean over the railing. The song builds even more as he begins to wrap the chord of his microphone around his hand, its peak moments away when his eyes find yours once again. You watch in slow motion as his lips part, dark hooded eyes looking up at you hungrily as he drops to his knees, then squeezes his eyes shut as he belts loudly:
“I don’t wanna be your friend, I wanna kiss your neck!”
Your knees wobble under you and you steady yourself with jello-like arms. You suddenly remember you need to breathe, taking in several steadying breaths as you watch your Professor get back on his feet, wandering over to one side of the stage to break some more hearts. You’re glad he’s looking elsewhere again, grateful he can’t see the physical toll that stunt had taken on you. If his performance hadn’t already turned you on, this definitely did the trick, the wetness between your legs almost as demanding of your attention as your teacher on stage…
You’re hot and sticky, the delicate fabric of your dress stuck to your skin as you sway your hips, dancing in the centre of the pit. You feel free as you move to the beat, your movements flowy and sensual as you run your hands over your body.
You’d looked for him after the show, a little too obviously, but you could care less in the moment. Eventually you gave up, realizing he was probably in some greenroom, or potentially even went home, knowing he likely had quizzes to grade or something equally as contrasting to the dingy, drug-tinged room he’d just played in. When you couldn’t find him, you and Bex shoved your way into the thinned out crowd in the centre of the dance floor where a dance party had formed around the DJ now on stage.
You grin as Bex catches your eye with a smile, dancing against a scruffy young man who’d had his eyes on her all night, now cooing softly in her ear as he grinds himself into her ass. You can’t help but imagine yourself in the same scenario, wondering how it would feel to dance so intimately with your Professor, to feel him grind against your back, sweaty hands against your sweaty body, whispering deliciously devious words in your ear… You close your eyes, running your hands slowly over your breasts, your nipples hardening at their touch as you sway your hips, tossing your head back and letting your hair swish against your back to the beat of the music. You like imagining him watching you now, practically feeling his eyes brush against your skin, their gaze caressing the curve of your hip like a calloused hand.
You slowly open your eyes, the feeling of being watched not dissipating along with your daydream. You glance in the direction of the bar, feeling pulled to look. Your hips don’t stop as you turn, your hands now running over your stomach just as you see him.
There his is. Leaning against the bar, drink in hand, staring at you. There’s a girl in front of him, talking to him, his patient bandmate stood next to him generously paying attention to her and nodding his head politely as she bats her eyelashes and gestures excessively at your Professor in an effort to gain his attention. But she doesn’t have his attention. Because you have his attention. He’s watching as you dance to the beat of the music, the alcohol in your system the only thing keeping you from blushing. No, this time you’re not embarrassed. You don’t even feel bashful. In fact, you feel quite the opposite- you’re feeling bold. Something about him wakes you up inside, ideas you’d never even considered wafting through your mind as you see him lean into his friends ear, whispering something before returning his gaze to you. His tall friend gestures an offer to smoke to the girl bouncing on her heels, and she agrees excitedly, doing a poor job of hiding her disappointment when she notices your Professor has no intention to follow.
You continue to dance, almost performing for him now as you see him cross his arms, watching you darkly. You make a big show of moving your hips, tossing your hair as you turn, showing off the low cut back of your dress, feeling his eyes trace the line of your spine as you savor the shiver it sends through your core. Bex catches your eye and the sight of her dancing partners hands wrapped around her waist breaks something inside you- you weren’t going to wait any longer for what you wanted.
“I’m gonna go grab another drink, do you want one?” You yell into Bex’s ear. She shakes her head, turning her head to smile up at the man who’s lips lean closer and closer towards hers. You turn on your heel, sauntering over towards the bar, avoiding your teachers blatant stare as you walk. You stride right up to him, then side step him, making sure to lean seductively as you ask the bartender for another tequila soda, subtly pressing your breasts together as you watch him stutter before turning to make your drink.
“It seems you didn’t take my advice,” you hear him say beside you.
“Sorry?” You say, turning to face him.
He says nothing for a moment, eyes traveling up and down your body leisurely as he takes a swig from his bottle, his back still leaning casually against the bar.
“That dress isn’t very modest,” he says darkly, eyes finally landing on yours, burning your soul from within. He licks the drop of beer left behind from his bottle, his bottom lip glistening in the dim red light of the bar.
“I wore black this time, like you suggested. I thought you’d like that,” you challenge sultrily from under hazy eyes as you take your drink from the bartender who’s practically drooling at you, but instead of asking for money, he stays standing there, mouth hanging open slightly as he stares at your chest. Your Professor’s eyes darken slightly, hanging onto yours tightly as he turns, then finally drags his gaze away from you to hand the bartender a few bills, clearly keen on having him leave you alone.
“And you thought showing your ass off to half the town would be a good idea?” Your Professor mumbles to you as he shoves his wallet back in his pocket, glaring at the bartender threateningly, causing him to scuttle away to help his next customer. You can’t help but admire the tattoos on his muscled arms, consciously reminding yourself not to reach your curious fingertips out to explore their peaks and valleys, the bareness of them feeling more scandalous than anything you could have worn. His eyes finally turn to yours, and you shrug casually.
“You seemed to like it the last time I did, considering you stared at it long enough to memorize it’s condition,” you say, referencing your last class, doing a poor job of hiding the smugness that teases at your lips as you take a generous sip of your drink to cover them. A light flickers behind his eyes, but his face remains stoic- unimpressed.
He leans towards you and your heart begins to pound rapidly, his closeness stealing your breath from you.
“Tread lightly, Miss Thompson. Tread lightly,” he says in a low voice, his lips ghosting the curve of your ear. A shiver passes through you as you close your eyes, willing the moment to last longer. But it passes, and you feel hollow again as he leans back against the bar, his eyes scanning the room ahead of him as he sips his beer once more.
But a bit of the thrill lingers within you, and slowly, your sadness is replaced with excitement as you realize: he’s still here. He could have walked away- he should have walked away, but he didn’t. You smile to yourself and he glances back at you, raising an eyebrow in question at your smile.
“I’m sorry, Professor,” you say softly, the word like a treat on your lips as you gloat.
“Why do you have to say it like that?” He says, the hint of a groan rumbling in his throat as he speaks. His eyelids hang low, heavy like his voice as his brow furrows slightly, his lips parted as he glances from your eyes down to your lips.
“Like what?” You ask breathlessly, your heart pounding out of your chest.
“Like it turns you on,” he says, his eyes lingering a moment longer before looking back up at you, something forbidden in his gaze.
You feel yourself grow wetter, visibly shivering this time as your grip the edge of the bar. You bite your lip in thought, holding back the words you desperately want to say to him. It must be the alcohol, otherwise you’d never be so brazen with an authority figure like him, the words falling from your mouth only a moment later.
“Because it does,” you say, taking a big sip of your drink.
He stands silently looking at you, eyes traveling up and down your body, emitting a soft sigh before shaking his head lightly.
“You’re going to get me in big trouble one day, aren’t you…” he says very quietly, almost to himself.
You smile at him, pride radiating corner to corner from your mouth before taking another healthy drink from your glass.
“You should slow down with those, Hazel,” he says quietly, the use of your first name shaking you slightly. But what shocks you the most is the tone in his voice, new to you, briefly pulling you out of your drunken haze of lust. It takes you a moment to recognize it, the hint of softness, with a touch of warmth and a tinge of fear. It was… concern. It felt caring. It was the closest thing you’d felt to his touch since the day he’d brushed against you in the doorway.
“And why would I do that?” You ask stubbornly.
“Because you’re going to get yourself in trouble,” he answers softly.
“Don’t you mean, us, Professor?” You say, fluttering your eyelashes at him gently.
He shakes his head, choosing to ignore you this time as he drains the rest of his bottle.
“I think I’d like detention with you, Professor,” you purr.
You jump as he slams his empty bottle down on the counter with a loud bang, startled by the jarring noise.
“Outside. Now,” he commands. You don’t question him, following closely behind as he weaves his way through the crowd, grabbing his coat from one of the hooks on the wall as he dips out the front door, striding quickly past his friend and the girl from earlier who’s eyes brightened and dimmed as he stormed past. You follow him into the cold of the night, the cool air a welcome sensation on your burning skin. You feel him grab your wrist as he pulls you around the corner into the alley beside the bar, then shoves you against the brick wall, pressing forehead against yours for a few breaths. You freeze.
Eventually, he pulls away, and you look up at him helplessly, but his eyes are closed, his face hanging low as he pants in frustration, his hands planted on the wall behind you on either side of your head. You’re trapped between him and the cold coarse wall, your forehead burning where his had made contact mere seconds ago. You can feel the heat from his body radiating towards you, his scent filling your nose with the smell of cigarettes, beer, chalk, and something warm and spicy, like hot cider and cloves. Your eyes drop down to his open mouth, puffing hot air in little clouds, and you reach your hand up without thinking, feeling the curve of his jaw under your fingers. His lower lip hangs there, begging to be bitten, and you lose all inhibition. You reach up, taking it between your teeth, sucking on his gently, the taste of him like ecstasy as he stands there frozen, letting you drag your teeth gently down his lip. You feel him shudder underneath you from your touch, his brow creasing even deeper, an expression of pain as he lets out a shaky breath. Once you finally release his lip, you pause and watch as he bites his lip, sucking the skin yours had just tasted. He leans in closer to you, his cheek against your temple as he says in a very low, very measured voice:
“Four years from now, you’re going to walk across the stage at convocation, collect your parchment, and shake my hand. Then, the moment you step off that stage, I’m going to tear that graduation gown off of you, and fuck you senseless,” he breathes into your ear. You can’t help but arch your back at his words. You can feel yourself dripping down the inside of your thigh as he speaks. He leans in even closer, his lips now touching your ear, but just barely. “Until then, your delicate little hand will have to take my place when you think of me, leaving yourself unsatisfied, night after night, all alone in your little bed.”
He pulls back, just enough to look down at you, his dark eyes burrowing into yours as his lips hover over yours.
“Is that a homework assignment, Professor?” You say breathlessly, your chest heaving with passion as you look back and forth between his eyes. You begin to shiver from the cold, but you don’t even notice, his words having stoked the blazing fire within you. But he notices. He sighs quietly to himself, then pulls you from the wall. His hands leaving burns on your arms where they touched your skin, then, he quietly drapes his coat around your shoulders, looking down at the buttons as he does them up one by one. The gesture is sweet, his fingers patiently working away as you watch him, mesmerized by his beautiful face which has softened slightly. When his fingers finally finish, his eyes lift to meet yours with a look you can’t quite decipher. A moment of silence passes and his face returns to the one you’re most familiar with in class, stoic and stern, and he finally speaks.
“I think it’s time you went home. I’ll see you Monday, in class. Good evening, Miss Thompson,” he says formally as he takes a step back, and suddenly he’s gone. You collapse against the wall behind you, dazed by the interaction. You almost can’t believe it, the coat wrapped around you the only thing keeping you from convincing yourself you hadn’t dreamt it all.

Part 1 ao3
A series of notes passed during private study periods in Hawkins High School Library, circa January—May, 1985.
A sheet of paper hastily ripped from its notebook, folded over with a crease down the middle.
—Harrington, did you just turn down that girl?
—What are you talking about?
—Hey, you can’t blame a guy for being nosy. You were the one deciding to TALK in a SACRED LIBRARY.
—If you heard us, why are you asking?
—Okay, sound doesn’t travel that far.
—Why don’t YOU tell me what happened considering you know everything?
—Wow. Touchy.
—Fuck off.
—Sorry. Thought we were just joking around. Didn’t mean to be a dick.
—It’s fine.
—You sure?
—I wasn’t ‘turning her down.’ She’s on the Yearbook Committee. Asking for photos.
—Too many pin-ups to choose from?
—Baby photos.
—What’s the problem? Did you come out the womb holding hairspray?
—No.
—Table it or ditch it?
—?
—It’s something my uncle says. If he asks me about stuff I don’t wanna talk about, I can either table it for later or ditch it completely. But if something keeps coming up and I keep saying to ditch it, then it automatically becomes a table it for later.
—That’s smart.
—Yup.
—Table it.
—Okay.
—? Why do you keep scoring out stuff?
—Sorry sorry. I can only think of baby photos now.
—Not against them in general. Feel free to talk about yourself, Munson.
—Uh-huh. I could hear the sarcasm in how you wrote that.
—Ha. No, really. I don’t mind.
—Well, lucky for you, talking about myself is my favorite subject.
—Lucky me.
—I thought I’d lost literally all of my baby photos. When I lived with my dad, the house got flooded and all of them were hit. Water damage. I had to get my books spread out on a radiator so the pages would dry, and that kinda worked for some of them. Photos were goners, though.
—That’s awful.
—Hold your horses, cowboy. But then when I moved to my uncle’s—we’re at the trailer park in Forest Hills—I saw he had all these photos stacked on a bookcase, and I thought they were all really old, like from when he was a kid and stuff, and some of them were, but he had whole entire ALBUMS of me. Way more than my dad ever had.
—That’s cool.
—You’re so verbose, Harrington.
—I meant it. It’s just. I was just thinking.
—About?
—That’s not why I—I HAVE baby photos, that’s not the problem.
—Don’t sweat it, dude, you don’t need to tell me.
—It’s just. Rebecca, that’s who was talking to me, she kept going on about how everyone else has already sent in a baby photo or, you know, a photo from when they were a kid, and she was excited about it, it’s a whole new thing they’re doing for this year. They’re gonna do a special layout, old photos next to current ones, you know what I mean?
—Afraid I’ve never been privy to the wondrous goings-on of the Yearbook Committee.
—She said it’ll look weird if I’m the only one not doing it. But it’s—I don’t know. I know I could just pick any damn photo and send it in, it’d get the whole Committee off my back. But I think I’d feel weird at the thought of the whole year getting to see—god, this doesn’t even make sense, like I don’t mind them seeing at a photo of me NOW, but I don’t. I don’t like looking at old photos, I never have. I don’t know why. Guess I just don’t like looking back.
—Fuck what everyone else is doing. They’re YOUR photos. Forget the precious ‘layout.’
—Yeah, that’s sorta what I told her, minus the ‘fuck.’
—If it’ll shut them all up, you could send in one of mine. See who actually notices.
—No way.
—Yeah, I was just being stupid.
—No. Those are YOUR photos. Save them for your own Yearbook. Sounds like your uncle could fill the whole thing with pictures.
—Wouldn’t put it past him.
—Shit, is that the time? The bell’s gonna ring in five minutes. I’ve done NOTHING.
—The horror!
—I’m blaming you.
—Honored to be considered a distraction, Harrington.
-
A scrap of paper, hastily dropped into the pencil case of an unknowing Eddie Munson as the bell rang.
—Thanks.

✿ ، With the rise of long-form video essays on YouTube, user GOTHIC GWYN changed the K-Pop fandom with her seventy-five-minute analysis, PLASTIC FLOWERS: BREAKING THE INDIE SCENE. Since it was posted in 2023, the video has reached over 5 million views and GOTHIC GWYN still posts semi-regularly. The video describes the five members of Plastic Flowers, the former members, their relationships with each other, and their role in the multimedia universe created by their entertainment company. This layout was inspired by the lovely myah aka @/venusvity !
This video contains the following trigger warnings: Fighting (Salem); Resentment from her parents, Disownment, Eating Disorders (Serin). Mentions of toxic relationships, but not described as well. Please let me know if anything is missing!

( PART I: I AM FRAGILE AND UNHOLY. OPEN. RAVAGE. EAT. ... MILIN KUEAKULSRI ) ⬭ The story of Plastic Flowers naturally begins with founder and leader Salem Kueakulsri. Though born in Hat Yai, Thailand, she moved to California at a young age due to her father's job and paternal grandmother's growing health issues. Her parents used the "1-parent-1-language" system in her home and she was fluent in Thai because she learned the language at such a young age. Her nickname Salem was given to her by her father when she was born due to her birthday being on October 31. She's always preferred Salem to her birth name, Milin, since it makes her seem more unique and was given to her by her favorite person.
In late 2013, the family moved to Ulsan, South Korea after the funeral of her grandmother and both of her parents wanting to return to their original lives. Her father was given a promotion and that lead him to the South Korean branch of the company. Salem begged her parents to let her attend an Arts High School in South Korea and after passing the entrance exam, she promised to keep her grades up no matter what to remain there. Many students tended to stay away from her given her "resting bitch face" and she did not make friends until the next year when she was approached by Choi Chaesol in their science class. The pair became lab partners and soon Siyoon was invited to join her small friend group, which also included Choi Seowon and Ying Shuhang.
Not long into their friendship, they realized a mutual love for creating music and performing. Siyoon had been learning the guitar in her free time since early middle school and had recently moved on to the bass. As the only member with a background in music—as the other three were just learning to play their instruments—she was promoted to the 'leader' of the group and began songwriting with primarily Shuhang. They would continue with informal practice sessions until their first single was published on Soundcloud and reached limited success.
The band was contacted by many entertainment companies in South Korea and after a heated argument about the band's future, Salem took the name and their songs to Superbloom Media for herself. Without any band members left, she was forced to start from the bottom again in this new era of Plastic Flowers and make connections with these new trainees. She remained the leader and the head of their comebacks until recently.

( PART II: I TALK TO GOD BUT THE SKY IS EMPTY. ... KANG JUNYEONG ) ⬭ Born in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Daegu, Kang Junyeong knew from an early age that he would do anything to get out of there. Most of his neighbors had been living in that town their entire lives and that was not something that interested in. His single father was never able to afford much beyond necessities on his small yearly salary so Junyeong was tasked with finding different ways to entertain himself after completing his school work. While watching the school's talent show, he was introduced to a local dance trope with boys from his grade and decide to reach out after seeing how much attention that they got. From there, he was accepted into the group and learned street dancing, often competing against other groups in Daegu. He loved dancing and saw an opportunity to get out his neighborhood after discovering 1Million studio's video and choreography credits. He knew that if he worked hard enough, they would accept him and he became dedicated to learning every style of dance he could without paying for lessons.
While visiting Seoul for a school field trip, Junyeong was scouted by three entertainment companies based on his good looks even at fourteen years old—YG Entertainment, Jellyfish Entertainment, and Superbloom Media. He auditioned for all three of the companies and despite his dancing abilities, he could neither sing nor rap and was rejected by both YG and Jellyfish, leaving him with only Superbloom. In 2015, the company was in a bad place as they chartered failed group after failed group and needed to take out thousands in loans. In 2017, he was reached out by another company to transfer after seeing his work and when he was considering it, he was placed in the lineup of Plastic Flowers, which he thought was a traditional idol boy group. He was sourly mistaken and forced to learn the drums even after putting up a fight about his role in the group.
Even if it had been five years since then, Junyeong is still bitter about what happened to him. Rather than ever showing off his dance skills and improved vocal abilities, he was stuck behind a drum kit and expected to act like it was all fun. Even worse, many critiqued him playing from the beginning and said Junyeong was only going to keep Plastic Flowers in nuguhell due to his poor abilities. This forced him to work harder to perfect his craft and he's become pretty good at his new position. He refuses to work with the rest of the members on songwriting and producing, instead forcing them to figure out the perfect drum line for each of their songs in protest. Only Salem can tolerate Junyeong, often leaving him separated from the rest of the group despite everything they've gone through.

tw // childhood trauma relating to jiyeon being treated worse than her older sisters, disownment, eating disorders.
( PART III: I WAS THE GIRL WHO NEVER UNDERSTOOD WHO SHE WAS TO PEOPLE ... LEE JIYEON ) ⬭ Lee Jiyeon grew up in a house based around perfection. Both of her parents were traditional doctors and they meticulously planned their live together, well everything expect the birth of Jiyeon in early summer of 2000. She has two older sisters, Jisu and Jihye, both born in the early 1990s and were apart of their parents plan. Because of this, Jiyeon was label as the black sheep of her family and was often treated worse than her older sisters with harsh exceptions about school work and health. Her mother enrolled all three of her daughters into ballet at an early age and given the horror stories about ballet teachers giving their student's body issues, Kim Jinsook was heavily involved in what her children consumed as her health specialty.
Similar to future band mate Junyeong, Jiyeon knew that she was not going to remain in Jecheon for very long. Her older sisters had already moved out by the time she reached high school and there was nothing holding her to the city. While talking with her dance friends, Jiyeon was persuaded to audition for various entertainment companies behind her parents backs. They were expecting her to either follow in their footsteps or go into a similar field. Jiyeon, however, had other plans. She was desperate to get into an entertainment company and move to Seoul, so she began looking up videos to teacher herself to sing before her parents came home and auditioned under the ruse of visiting Seoul with her friends.
In 2015, she was accepted into Superbloom Media and they were the first to give her a decision. Desperate to get out, she took it and was disowned when they heard Jiyeon's plan to become an idol. She stayed in the dorms year-round and was Superbloom transferred her to a local public school. She was known as one of the best female dancers in the company, easily transitioning between styles. However, she was not upset at the chance of being in Plastic Flowers since she had debt to the company and needed to pay it back as quickly as she could. With the help of Salem and Gwyn, Jiyeon learned how to play the guitar and is the third most important vocalist behind the two leads.

( PART IV: FLOWERS GROW BACK, EVEN AFTER THEY ARE STEPPED ON, SO WILL I. ... OH DEURIM ) ⬭ Oh Deurim was born in the suburbs of Seoul and had grown up attending busking events with her friends after school. As the youngest child of three, she was given the freedom to realistically do anything under her parents supervision. She was gifted in the humanities subjects, particularly finding literature and poetry her favorite pieces to study. Throughout her teen years, she read poetry in any language she could get her hands on and spend hours trying to translate it. She began writing her own poetry at thirteen and that would become the base for her songwriting abilities later into her training career.
In 2015, Deurim was accepted into Superbloom Media as one of the first generation of trainees under Shin Yeonghui's reign. She was slated to debut with Celatum in 2017, at just sixteen years old, however, she was pulled from the lineup right before debut and replaced by Jeong Soomin. There are still pre-debut photos and videos featuring Deurim, making many wonder what happened behind the scenes. The next time fans saw her, she was competing on Superbloom's only survival show, Timefighter, which formed the group of the same name. She began the competition with good spirits and fans easily falling for her visuals and talent. However, after being promoted to leader and showing her colors as a harsh one, her rank dropped significantly and she was never able to recover. As the weeks went on, her rank began to fluctuate between eleventh and fourteenth, however, she just made the adjusted lineup by two places that same year.
Having expressed Plastic Flowers being one of her favorite bands and Salem her greatest inspirations, she was invited by Yeonghui to join the band after they suspended Minghui's contract at the end of July. She was introduced as a new member of the band in May 2022 and was surprisingly accepted by fans quickly.

( PART V: ALL TIME EVER DOES IS PASS AND ALL I EVER DO IS REMEMBER. ... OLIVER SONG ) ⬭ Born in 2001 and the youngest member of Plastic Flowers, Oliver Song is a musical prodigy. His musical talents were discovered at an early age through piano lessons and he quickly moved through the different difficulties of music. Not long after that, he chose to learn the violin alongside the piano while in elementary school and showed the same advanced performance. He continued down this road and learned to sing while he was an active member of the church choir near his childhood home. In 2013, he was even accepted into the Boston Arts Academy and trained for two years before he was accepted into Superbloom Media. His mentors wanted him to attend lower-level auditions to gain more confidence and Superbloom was holding something online, so they filmed and sent in a video thinking nothing of it.
In the fall of 2015, he was accepted into the trainee program at Superbloom and offered a spot in Seoul, South Korea. Oliver, not wanting to miss such an opportunity, looked deeper into K-pop and had a few discussions with the scouting manager for North America about what his future would look like. After this and convincing his parents, Oliver Song moved to Seoul alone right before the new year to begin his training journey. There, he became close with his future bandmate Lin Minghui as two of the only foreign trainees. Oliver struggled the most with dancing and looking confident while performing, which caused him to be placed in more lessons throughout the day and switch to an online high school. Surprisingly, in late 2016, he was added to the new lineup of Plastic Flowers and given the stage name Gwyn right before their debut. While not the original lead vocalist, fans seemed to enjoy his voice more and the switch was made after their 16 month hiatus.
In 2019, Oliver was cast as one of 60 contestants on the talent show Superband and was the youngest at just seventeen years old during filming. Though he had been learning Korean for almost three years at that point, he still struggled with speaking and having the confidence to articulate his own thoughts. Despite that, fans rallied behind Oliver as one of the show's main narrators and his talents. For his introduction stage, he performed a cover of Fleetwood Mac's Big Love which earned him the role of Front Man, meaning he could choose his own bandmates for the next round. His group, which performed Heart-Shaped Box, lost 4:1 and while it was sad at the moment, he was chosen to be part of Park Hyeongjin's winning teams for the next two rounds. He proved himself a top-tier vocalist alongside Isaac Hong in Royals and The Time of My Life, which made him deeply sought by the other contestants when forming their own Superbands. In the end, he ended with original partner Sawyer Lee, Ko Seungmin, and Yoon Taeyun as Death Valley, which earned 45,000 votes and Second Place with their final song Take My Hand.
With the show's conclusion in July 2019, Plastic Flowers released their mini-album Wind and Rain in late August to keep up with his growing momentum. However, given the small fan base of any group from Superband, the Plastics still heavily struggled as fans demanded a return of Death Valley as well. For the next three years, they would continue to miss the mark until Teeth was released in 2020. For three months, you could not go anywhere without hearing Teeth domestically and internationally, even going viral in Tiktok. With that album, Oliver was given the role of producer by the Superbloom representatives and has been working hard to emulate the success of his earlier work. In March of 2023, he also be the first member to make their solo debut.

Chapter 2: At Least the "Prophecy" Comes With a Free Sword
The next chapter of my Byler Isekai AU is now up on Ao3! Mike meets the rest of the gang, has an audience with the village kook, and learns how to get home...sort of.
Tags: M, Graphic Descriptions of Violence, Fantasy AU, Canon Typical Violence, Canon Typical Horror, Friends to Lovers, Slow Burn
Summary:
Mike Wheeler hates High School, so when he almost dies and falls through a portal to another world, he’s not going to complain. Especially not when that world does not only have swords and magic but seems to work exactly according to the rules of his favorite tabletop role-playing game. But his euphoria might be short lived because the party of adventurers he falls in with turns out to be the target of an evil god and the fate of the world might rest on their shoulders. So, exactly like his games of D&D. Except the wanna-be Paladin soon realizes that being a hero is much harder in real life than it is in-game. - Or, Mike gets isekai’d into a world where D&D is real.
An excerpt and taglist below the cut:
Excerpt:
The group’s worry about his appearance feels a little overstated as they make their way down to the village, avoiding the main road in favor of a beaten path through the fields, and then don’t even really enter the village. Will’s parents’ cottage sits at the outskirts of the town, not as far away as the farms but still not nestled close to the other houses. Behind it there is only a large backyard, fenced in with wooden poles that have seen better days, and then only fields and trees. A little herb garden sits beside it and a large oak tree with a little weathered swing, rocking happily in the breeze, sits out front.
As they reach the front door, Will takes the lead.
The door opens on the smell of something hearty and savory – stew, Mike thinks, although he can’t place the type – and a warm voice calling out: “Hi, sweetheart. You guys are back early.”
Will steps inside, holding the door for the rest of them. El slips in past him, tearing off her cloak as she does. The others gesture for Mike to follow, so he does, even though the thought of meeting even more new people has him feel suddenly very tired. Part of him wishes the party was on the road on their own and he just had to contend with them at a camp fire. The other part of him misses his mother and wants some warm food to comfort him.
The layout of the house seems to be as simple as its exterior. The entrance opens into a big room with a kitchen in the back, a dining table almost in the entry, and a couple armchairs and a couch in front of a fireplace to the far side. A hallway branches of right beside the kitchen, leading towards the back of the house. In the kitchen stands a blue-scaled Dragonborn woman with her back to them, stirring stew in a large cauldron over an open fire. Another Dragonborn, this one with purple scales like Will, hunches over the table, writing something.
He dips his quill into the ink before him, briefly glancing up as they enter, then at his paper and then, with his hand frozen above the page, looks back up at the group in the doorway with wide eyes trained on Mike.
And Mike understands the feeling.
“I’m guessing your meeting didn’t-” the Dragonborn woman begins and breaks off as she similarly turns to the group and counts one more among them than had left the house.
Will, without preamble, grabs the hood at the back of Mike’s head and pulls it free to reveal his face.
El takes no note of the way the mood perceptibly shifts from warm to something…not quite less welcoming but certainly more tense. She drapes her cloak over one of the free chairs and makes her way beside the Dragonborn woman, sniffing the stew. “Smells good.”
The woman smiles at her, brushing her short hair affectionately with a claw-tipped hand, and says: “I just put it on, so you’ll have to wait until later.” A little less affectionately she nods at Mike: “Who is he?”
El shrugs. “Human. Is Hop still out back?”
The woman sighs. “Yes, your father’s still out back. Where did you find a human?”
At the mention of El’s elusive father Mike tenses, remembering Lucas asking him about some capital ‘F’ father earlier. He hopes it’s not the same guy. The Eleventh of the Circle and the Crown Prince seem like enough main characters to meet in one day. He really doesn’t have to add the Father, whoever he is,to the list.
Beside him, Will steps forward, gesturing towards Mike. “Mom, Jonathan, this is Mike, he fell through a portal by accident. Mike, this is my brother, Jonathan, and my mother.”
Mike feels a little awkward as he waves. “Hi.”
Jonathan rises to his feet, waves equally awkwardly, and then disappears towards the back of the house.
Will’s mother crosses the room and offers Mike her hand. She clasps his warmly and it’s almost not strange even though her skin feels as leathery and cold as her son’s. “It’s nice to meet you, Mike.”
“Nice to meet you too, Mrs., uh-”
“Byers,” she replies. She squeezes his hand before moving on towards her son. Placing a hand on top of his head the way she had just done with El, she says: “Your father won’t be pleased to hear this, though. We had a visitor just after you left, and well…”
She doesn’t elaborate, but she doesn’t have to. As the party behind Mike spreads out, hanging up their cloaks and beginning to loiter around the room, a door slams at the back of the house and then someone complains, loudly: “No, no, no. No, no, no, no!”
Jonathan returns first, taking a place against the back wall. “Hope you guys have figured out who to blame for this already,” he says. It sounds like a joke.
Mike hopes it’s a joke.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ꒰ ७.*´. ꒱ . . . RATSAMI DEVAKUL, known professionally as JACE, was born as an only child on March 22nd, 1998. Born to an uber religious family, he was expected to grow up in the ways of God, get a normal, steady job, get married to a nice girl within his religion, and have two children and live next to his parents. However, his dream to become an idol interfered with his expectations, and his parents were not happy to hear of his dreams. They continuously set him up with girls from their church and sent their servants to follow him wherever he went.
In 2010, when Jace was twelve years old, he ran away from home and was found by a couple of American tourists at the airport. They took pity on him, and decided to stay in Thailand for another week to help him find his parents. However, when they did find them, they refused to acknowledge Jace as their son and disowned him. Taking the chance to leave his old life behind, he decided to go to the United States with the couple, who adopted him and he was renamed as Jace Montgomery. He lived in Connecticut for six years.

it is a Saturday and I am high on caffeine and sunlight - time to make a miscellaneous "comics I love" list! (Note: I'm grouping by layout, not country of origin)
Manga:
Aharen-san wa harakenai (Aharen-san is unfathomable): gag-comedy about a very stoic school girl and the equally stoic classmate who wildly misinterprets what she does. (Very sweet, absurd humor, a bit of romance, you will learn so much trivia)
Angel Densetsu (Legend of an Angel): gag-comedy with some martial arts tropes. A guy with the face of a thug and the heart of a saint stumbles into many a misunderstanding (and gains a few true companions along the way) - Bonus: you get to see the artist grow as the series goes on
Kouishou Radio (After effects Radio) - a collection of horror vignettes around a "God of Hair" which start coming together slowly to a very "oooh Fuck" effect.
Seihantai Kimi wa Boku (You and I are polar opposites) - very sweet and funny, cozy rom-com slice of live. A gyaru and a stoic loner fall in mutual love and navigate this first relationship together, helped by their friend group.
Radiant - action-fantasy. Imagine One Piece with witches, an inquisition, curses and it taking place in the sky. The MC is a lil shit for 1 1/2 volumes but my god if you like shounen-style fantasy-action, you're in for a treat.
Webtoons:
Cursed Princess Club - fantasy-romance-dramedy. "you're ugly" having her heart broken by these words, the sweet but not traditionally attractive youngest princess of the pastel kingdom runs into the forest and stumbles upon a club full of cursed princess. Deals with finding self-love in many, many forms. It is also "send screenshots to friends"-HILARIOUS.
The Dummy's Dummy - urban fantasy with horror elements. A monster of the week style story with a psychic girl and the monster-fighting marionette at her side. Has a lovely goth vibe.
... oh no the caffeine has ran out, so I'll add a few shorter entries:
Webcomics:
Fairmeadow (fairmeadowcomic.com): ex-soldier Orc meets pacifist commune. Hilarity(?) ensues. If you like dissecting interpersonal conflicts and gorgeous nature drawings, you will have a field day (hah).
Tiger, tiger (tigertigercomic.com): seafaring adventures with eldritch monsters, some romance and a great cast of characters (absolute nerd for sea sponges, a pirate with very healthy self-esteem, a mustachioed himbo and an anxious boye who does not deserve any of this)
Other comics:
Beautiful Darkness - hey, wanna remember how fucked-up yet whimsical childhood was?? NO??? well too bad, get shrinked to 2 cm size and try not to die in the wilderness.
Une semaine the bonté - surrealist collage work. Makes no sense and I love it. It feels like someone is pouring melting butter over my brain.
Hitman (DC) - vampires, superman, family drama back in ireland, zombie seals, demons and a surprisingly hard-hitting (and surprisingly funny) comic series. Gritty, grimy, tasteless in its humor... and very unapologetically so. Very of its time, but also very entertaining and varied.

EAH Dorm Rooms Headcanon 4
Blondie & C.A. Cupid
It's time for our two radio heads! One will dish out juicy gossip while the other gives you advice from the heart.
Tumblr media
The only time we got to see their dorm was in 'Blondie Brances Out' and 'Cupid Comes Clean'. From what was seen Cupid and Blondie have one of the smaller dorms of the students living on campus. Their room is so small that the girls use wardrobes instead of a closets and the walls seem closer together. So, I'll do my best with this one.
So the layout of the the dorm is: hallway entrance, room divider, mirror, vanity desk, wardrobe, nightstand, and bed. We don't get to see the rest of the room, but my theory is that it's a wall the girls do whatever they want with it, the wall where the balcony is where the girls' desk for homework is at. Yeah, that's all I got.
Blondie's side: Blondie's got a cottagecore & lolita style going on with a pinch of royalty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blondie's furniture features bears, utensils, and keyholes that reflects her story. I like how Blondie stands out in her room, since she's covered in yellow (her dress and hair) while her room is a deep blue and gold.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We Blondie wants to be seen as royalty by her friends and peers so her room seems rather regal than the lolita style she wears and it would've been nice to see her with items that reflect her love of journalism. But we didn't see the whole dorm so she may have some items like: a typewriter (every good reporter has a typewriter), and some cameras, and a collection of microphones.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Blondie's side of the dorm has the fireplace, but we don't see much of it. In 'Epic Winter' Blondie has a chaise, which I believe she has in her dorm on the other side for when she takes a break from school work and reporting.
Tumblr media
This is where the layout of the room gets a little weird. When, Cupid goes to get Blondie ready for class, we she Blondie's vanity dresser, when Blondie explains her family tree we she her wardrobe, nightstand, then bed. Seeing how small their dorm room is they probably squished as much furniture into the room as they can.
Apperently, Blondie (and Cedar) were supposed to have jewelry boxes like Apple and Raven but were never made. It's just so frilly and covered with bears, just right for Blondie.
C.A. Cupid's side: The only time we got to see a speck of Cupid's room was during 'Cupid Comes Clean'. I think Cupid's room would have a lot of Greek and heart designs too it, being the adoptive daughter of Eros (the god of love) it makes sense for her room to be covered in lovecore.
Tumblr media
Besides the lovecore and ancient Greek aesthetic, I think it would be cool if Cupid brought some items from Monster High (and the other places she's traveled). Like she has posters and CDs of Catty Noir and Casta Fierce and DVDs of Elissabat movies which she let's her friends watch and listen to. But whenever fairy tale teens try to look them up they can't find them except for lore/creepypasta sites, Maddie's the only one (and maybe Kitty) are the only ones to find info on the monster stars. Until, EAH and MH find out the other world exist.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I would also like if Cupid mixed in some skeletal decor in her room since she's a bone elemental. Can you imagine the first day the two met and Blondie walks in and let's out a blood-curdling scream because she sees a couple of faux skulls and skeletal furniture in the room and Cupid is like "What?". Hilarious! Over time Blondie just accepts it as one of Cupid's quirks.
Tumblr media
Also, feathers and arrows (I can't believe I almost forgot to mention that)! In her locker she has two bow and arrows sets I bet on her free wall she has a collections of bows and arrows on the wall like a chef has a knife collection. She has to keep reminding Blondie not to touch it just because it's out in the open.
Tumblr media
The girls have a balcony that Cupid uses most of the time to grow her flowers, mainly mood roses.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cupid's mirror was shown when she mirror traveled from Monster High/ Mount Olympus to Ever After High, but in the show there's a different mirror. I'm gonna let this pass an animation error.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the website was still up players would customize the dorms with furniture after characters' information was released. In the first image I think the lamp would be Cupid's, the second image the first wallpaper and flooring are Cupid's. I know used the candles already but I can see Cupid owning them.
Tumblr media
In 'Heart Struck' we found out Cupid uses an inhaler for her pollen allergies, it would make sense if she had backups in her dorm room.
Tumblr media
Like Blondie (and Ginger) Cupid has her own show at school. IThe school allows students with shows to do them in vacant rooms of the school. Like I said with Blondie it would be cool to have some of the equipment in her dorm room like the glowing heart background lights.
Tumblr media
Cupid has a black wrought iron bed in the shape of hearts, pink drapes behind the bed, I have no idea what that pink transparent thing is (seriously, what the heck is it?).
Since we never saw much of her room here are my thoughts: Cupid is one of the few students that doesn't have a canopy bed, most likely has a lot of romance novels/ love advice books, and her room is a mixture of MH, EAH, lovecore, and Greek mythology.
