Iri'thiel reference sheet for lvl 10 (2023/2024)
---------- I post her often but if you're new here - she's a character from a homebrew The Revenants (Awakening) game that started as our first DnD one-shot 4 years ago. Today the game is separated into 3-4 different groups of players in different places around the world and time, trying to prevent it all from collapsing to an anti-magic calamity.
Iri is a customized Fey Wanderer Ranger that is based on slashing and psychic damage, blade dancing, misty stepping and invisibility. She's a good investigator and has the Observant feat that lets her see things others wouldn't. She also has more and more issues with having her mind safe from exterior influence and dangerously growing number of people to care about.

Can we hear a little bit about the cast of the Summit please 👀👀👀
Well if that's what you want...
Tumblr media
I'll go over a couple here. And...
Tumblr media
Let's start with Joaquin Osorio then.
Joaquin Osorio, he/they, 27 (Tommy's cousin). A non-heritage, fully human Slayer. Your (MC's) partner*. Joaquin is passionately anti-supernatural. They're headstrong, passionate, impulsive, and hellbent on accomplishing his goal (protecting humanity from the threat of the supernatural by exterminating as many of them as possible).
* you get to choose what exactly that means at the start of the game (winks)
Feilan Grave-Speaker, it/they/(others). An Icelandic draugur from the 9th century (with a conspicuous immunity to silver). Feilan is literally the Speaker of the Grave, the leader of the Revenant faction (one of only two beings who represent the largest population of supernaturals on Earth). Feilan is feared by most people, like how Revenants in general are feared by most (after all, they've been known to work with Slayers). But is something intentionally hiding behind that facade, a facade that has been more or less forced upon it by the Court of Blood, a faction who despises them? Who knows? You might get to find out.
Adriana Silva, she/they. Adriana is an incredibly determined, ambitious, vivacious, and clever woman "living" in a community which is notoriously political and cutthroat. As a patasola, a kind of vampiric being from Colombia, Adriana has one prosthetic leg, fangs, and can perfectly mimic the voices of people's loved ones. She serves as your primary liaison between your employer and her boss, the Prince(ss) of the vampire court (aka, the unofficial host of the Summit). It's said by some that Adriana protects the sometimes naïve prince(ss) from the machinations of the court, but is that true (and are they possibly the one pulling all the strings)?
Cy Hassan, she/her or he/him. The Sheriff for the North American branch of the ILN. The "strong and silent type", Cy is a lycan shifter, but the identity of their shifted form is a secret they hold close to their chest. Dutiful, terse, and pessimistic, Cy isn't one who trusts people easily, but their strong morals tend to propel them to do the right thing, no matter the cost to them and their physical health.
Oriana, she/her. Classified as an "undine" or "mermaid" she is actually an alien from another world with command over the element of water and an appearance that inspired sailors of old to believe that there was a beautiful half-human, half-fish creature living beneath the waves. That's partially true, but she's actually an adorably sweet and incredibly dangerous type of being from another planet. She is a high-ranking Outsider.
Han, they/she/he (genderfluid). Han is a trickster member of the fey court (and one of the only fey friends of the Celestial). They literally live off of chaos, deception, and absurdity and, whether they wish to or not, have a habit of inducing those qualities in the world and people around them. Han is both impossible and easy to read. They just seem to want to watch the world burn. Or perhaps people/Han have just convinced themselves of that.
Elsie/Elias Milton, she/her, he/him, or they/them. Elsie is one of the apprentice mages of the new Magister. They're exceptionally bright and considered a prodigious talent in the magic community. An artificer and inventor, they create special enchanted objects for people in many factions including the glamour charms that monstrous beings can use to masquerade as human.
Pabu, she/her. A yeti and a high-ranking member of the Natural Order. A staunch adversary of climate change and a summit retreat enthusiast who adores the time spent in Antarctica perhaps more than any other guest. Pabu is incredibly kind and gregarious. She lives among humans full-time, but treasures the ability to take a break from hiding and lavish being herself, free from glamour.
Hafsah Akil, she/her. Hafsah is a sphinx advisor for the ILN and a hybrid representative. She rejects the obscure and cryptic aspects of sphinx culture, preferring instead to be extremely clear and upfront with everything she knows and thinks.
Shai, he/they. Not much is known about Shai, people tend not to ask them questions for fear of what he is. They are a totally silent being, always watching, possibly from anywhere. They are the second of the two beings who represent the Revenants.

I wrote some things about my experiences on DMing RPGs
So I have a website, basically a blog on an independent server, safe from <insert blogging service here>’s  TOS changes and bullshit like that.
I wrote 2 blogs there already about my experiences with hosting an RPG campaign and I guess I could just copy-paste it here and see what happens.
This particular post is mainly about the introduction and the origin story behind this campaign, so I hope you’ll forgive me simplistic explanations on what RPGs are and so on. Like I said, I wrote it for a different site where I post everything, so some generalizations were required.
Tumblr media
Incoherent ramblings on RPG, part 1 I guess
I’ve mentioned that before but in case you’ve missed it, I’m DM-ing a D&D RPG session. If the abbreviations in the later part of the sentence didn’t mean anything to you, RPG means Role Playing Game, D&D means Dungeons and Dragons, one of the frameworks said RPGs can be based on and DM means Dungeon Master – in this case, someone who leads those RPGs.
I don’t want to write down my incoherent ramblings on the subject in one long post, because nobody will read it. If I spread it across multiple short posts almost nobody will read it and that’s a possible improvement.
But lets start from the beginning and see where that takes us. The particular world-building exercise I want to describe here started a couple of years back when I offered to create a one-shot RPG session for a couple of friends for a New Year’s eve party. It was simple, had no real mechanics behind it and minimal amount of background setting since we had very limited time and most of the people involved never actually played an RPG before. The idea was that a fantasy  world got magically nuked and a number of survivors camps were built, which later became small town ruled by post-apo warlords. And since there were all sorts of weird mixes of races, since refugees just swarmed into those camps after the disaster which lead to a couple of interesting characters cooing together in the form of young and able “tributes” sent out on a one-way quest to get an impossible Mcguffin because their village warlord wanted to make a point in the standard “rule by fear, do whatever you want” kind of way. They stumbled into ancient ruins, run away form a terrifying creature and bumped into a group of gentlemen undead knights who took them into their not-all-that-creepy castle.
So that went well and by that I mean we had to continue the next day since they had fun and my one-shot grew in scope a little bit. We then had a couple of discord sessions to follow up, but that went about as well as you might think with a large group of people scattered across the country. After some time the whole session idea looked like it was about to just die of natural causes, but due to a weird set of circumstances, events in real life, coincidences and a global pandemic a portion of said group decided it would be cool to continue the story, but lets make it based on D&D instead of “roll dice whenever DM wants to do something”. So I sat down, remapped their character sheets and got a brilliant idea for a fresh start in which those three characters wake up without any memories in a crazy wizard’s lair. That gave me an opportunity to start anew without scrapping the past sessions, although so far only I know how those dots are connected, since the world they woke up in appears to be completely different from the one the players knew and their characters forgot about.
In general this is not how things should go. Players usually make up the backstory for their characters themselves and negotiate with the DM what can happen, what goals they can have and how their backstories play into their campaign. I chose a different path for this campaign because I already knew those characters and we all wanted to reuse them, but at the same time I couldn’t have them remembering the previous setting. With the amnesia angle (I know, how very original) both the characters and players explore the world together, but since they played those characters before, they feel comfortable doing so. And they have a lot to explore in this world. This is not the same place they were before, with a bit of a forest, some ruins and a castle. I made them a whole landmass with a dozen or so countries, a couple of conflicts, a fair bit of criminal underworld and a couple of noble courts to explore. So hopefully I’ll be able to tell you a lot more about this world in the future. I mean I can say a lot about it even now, since the campaign is going strong for well over a year, but I don’t want to slap an unsolicited wall of text in your face.
If you want to, know more, the second part is already on the website, but I will post it here possibly next week, if there’s any response.

DPXDC Prompt #90
Jason was frustrated with life, of course he was a revenant without a way to get revenge with Bruce’s no kill rule. Doesn’t say he can’t get others to kill for him, so when he gets captured by cultists he decides to take a leap of faith and make his wish to the Ghost King before the cultists can make their stupid wish about world domination or something.
The Ghost King accepts but wants a favor from him, what Jason wasn’t expecting was a kid with black hair blue eyes about 14, showing up on his doorstep saying he needed a place to crash and this was the ghost kings favor. Jason gets a message from his family just then, the Joker is confirmed dead. He doesn’t know why the Ghost King wants him to take care of a random teen but a deal is a deal.

Jason Todd sees something...super concerning.
It's Timmers, in the pouring fucking rain, no disguise, standing on a street corner.
And some sleaze in a nice car pulls up.
Jason watches in disbelief as Tim slinks over to the rolled down window and leans against the vehicle.
He holds out hope that it's just to plant a tracker, but then the back door opens and a dark hand reaches out to grab Tim by the collar of his shirt, tugging him into the vehicle.
And Tim is...laughing. He's laughing and allowing himself to be dragged into a strange vehicle. Jason's a ways away, so he can't hear it, but Tim has never been super comfortable with touch, so he knows it's fake.
And no. No no no. Whatever fucked up undercover bullshit this is can go down the fucking drain, and he will personally break Bruce's legs if he finds out that Bruce condoned this.
So he shoots out the tires, grapples down, grabs Tim, and gets him the fuck away from that situation.
Five buildings over he drops Tim on the roof and starts pacing.
"What the fuck. What the fuck. Did Bruce put you up to this? Tim what the fuck? Did they touch you? Do you need Leslie?"
There's no answer, and Jason finally faces Tim-that's not Tim.
That's not Tim, it's just someone that looks weirdly like him.
"...Tim? Bruce? Ohhhhhhhhhh my fucking ancients is Bruce Wayne Batman?!"
Jason can already feel the shitshow that's going to be rained down on him for this.
"Also thanks for the save, but that was by husband and wife picking me up. I'm really flattered, though. Seriously. You're a good guy, even if you do smell like sewage."
Jason smells like what?

Quick piece of an old scene where everyone was getting ready for a party. Iri's good at braiding hair (usually wearing a few braids herself everyday), and Llelyth probably never had her own done like this before.
Just thinking about ✨ them ✨

Global Factions – The World Beyond Casper
For more on the Local Factions, click here.
On Earth there are eight global factions—seven supernatural ones (The Court of Blood, the Revenants, the ILN, the Magi, the Fey, the Outsiders, and the Natural Order) and one that stands in opposition to the others (The Slayers). Supernatural beings either belong to a faction or choose to be factionless.
A Note on Faction Membership:
Beings have a right to membership with the faction that best aligns with their identity. For example, a ghost has a right to be a revenant, an angel has a right to be an outsider, etc.* However, beings can change their faction at anytime by requesting admission. Membership cannot be claimed until one's admission has been confirmed. Most groups are open admittance, but some require proof of certain powers/abilities (Outsiders) or letters of recommendation (Court of Blood).
* If an individual fits with multiple groups—for example, a centaur—they are meant to pick which faction suits them best (so, if the centaur identifies more with beasts, they can choose the Natural Order, if they identify more with humans, they can choose the ILN)
Tumblr media
The Court of Blood
Desire, wealth, hunger—the Court of Blood portrays itself as the pinnacle of indulgence and excess. But what goes on behind the ornate gilded doors of this highly stratified, cutthroat, aristocratic society? What, or who, is the true source of their bloodbath?
Member Types: Vampiric entities including strigoi, chupacabras, vrykolakas, vetala, dhampirs, leannán sídhe, bruxes, rakshasas, adze, ramanga, lugat, patasola, chonchons, tiyanaks, etc.
Connections: The Court was formed some centuries ago after most vampires broke ties with their previous faction, the Revenants, to start their own society free from their undead kin. The two factions still despise each other and there is still much hostility between them, particularly between the older generation and Feilan, the Revenant leader. The Court gets along very well with the Magi and can be civil with the ILN. The older generation's attitude has alienated most of the other courts, though the newer, younger leaders have made efforts to amend centuries of distaste and distrust.
Notable Members
Prince Rafael (strigoi, royal)
Adriana Silva (patasola, courtier)
Augustus Darvell, aka Lord Darby (strigoi, noble)
Misha Kotova (dhampir, knight)
Tumblr media
The Revenants
Death, cold and unfeeling, drips from everything this faction touches. Most of the members are merely shambling, wailing, destructive shadows of their former selves. There are no beating hearts to appeal to, and as far as others can tell, no kindness warms these graves.
Member Types: The undead (excluding most vampires) and other beings associated with death. Includes ghosts, zombies, shinigami, dybbuk, shadows, banshees, will o' the wisps, eidolons, kuntilanak, etc.
Connections: The Revenants openly despise both the Court of Blood and the Magi. They are indifferent towards the ILN and Fey but have strong relationships with both the Natural Order and the Outsiders. The Revenants are also the only supernatural faction to have a working relationship with the Slayers, though it is underpinned by strong, mutual disgust.
Notable Members
Feilan Grave-Speaker (draugur, leader)
Shai (shadow, advisor)
More on these characters here.
Tumblr media
The International League of Nonhumans (The ILN)
Composed of beings with the common experience of being other, the ILN is the closest and most protective faction. It deals with little internal drama and, in general, its members are there to support and look out for one another as they attempt to lead "normal" lives.
Member Types: Nonhumans or mortals who are born/become something beyond human but still consider themselves humanoids above all else. Includes shapeshifters, lycanthropes, hybrids, some cryptids (mothman, owlman), etc.
Connections: The ILN has a strong relationship with the Natural Order and a mutual respect for the Fey. They aren't hostile towards the Court of Blood or the Magi, though there are long histories of vampires being prejudiced towards nonhumans and of mages experimenting upon them. So, even though the newer leadership for both groups promises that they've changed their ways, most nonhumans are wary when dealing with these factions. In general, the ILN tries to avoid the Outsiders and the Revenants (mostly out of fear for what they both do and represent).
Notable Members
President Lumo (naga, leader)
Sheriff Cy Hassan (lycanthrope, regional leader/advisor)
Sheriff Hafsah Akil (sphinx, regional leader/advisor)
Tumblr media
The Magi
Enchanters, seers, artists, scholars. The Magi are once ordinary people in pursuit of the impossible—aligning themselves wholeheartedly with the supernatural as they seek out the hidden secrets of the universe, learning to bend reality to their command.
Member Types: Human magicians and spellcasters.
Connections: Get along very well with the Court of Blood and fine with the ILN. The Magi idolize the history and abilities of the Fey, though the Fey don't return any of the admiration. The Magi are interested in the Outsiders but this interest makes the Outsiders skeptical of them. They don't like the Revenant leaders and have a tense relationship with the Natural Order since it argues that they've failed the planet—though many beasts need the glamours the Magi produce to venture into human society. The Magi are also seen as the antithesis of the Slayers and these groups harbor an intense mutual hatred for one another.
Notable Members
Magister Luther Weiss (political leader)
E. Milton (magister's apprentice)
High Priestess Sybil (spiritual leader)
More on the Magi here. More on magic and alchemy here.
Tumblr media
The Fey
The fey is the most diverse faction and has little universal control over its members. Fey come from many different worlds, each with their own cultures, and tend to form insular courts that vie for power against one another. But, if there's one thing fey understand, it's magic, and it's the wielding and lending of unique powers that defines the members of this faction.
Member Types: Inherently magical creatures from this realm and beings from other inner planes. Includes fairies, elves, imps, sprites, goblinoids, nature spirits, oni, changelings, etc.
Connections: Generally speaking, the Fey are ambivalent towards the Court of Blood and see them as harmless pretenders, perhaps more amusing than anything else (like a soap opera). They don't like the Magi. They see them as trying too hard and looking to use the fey for knowledge and power. They like the Outsiders and are accepting of and respectful to the ILN (after all, many nonhumans are descended from fey). The Fey don't care much about either the Revenants or the Natural Order.
Notable Members
Empress Minori (kitsune, court leader)
Han (trickster spirit, advisor to Empress Minori)
More on the fey here. More about fey councils here.
Tumblr media
The Outsiders
Raw power and wild absurdity define the beings of this faction. Most Outsiders are ultimately disinterested with the sociopolitical landscape of this realm/planet. Their faction is an infamously lawless one that removes itself almost entirely from the politics of Earth. If an Outsider is present, you can assume it's satisfying some personal curiosity or furthering unknown and unknowable plans.
Member Types: Beings from outer planes or other planets. Includes elementals, celestials, infernals, djinns, phoenixes, sandmen, extraterrestrial aliens, some nightmares/nightwalkers, etc.
Connections: The Outsiders are generally the least concerned with other factions, though they are often the subject of interest from other factions. The Outsiders have a strong relationship with the Revenants mostly due to a fostered respect for the Grave-Speaker. The Fey and Outsiders can get along pretty well. They actively dislike the Magi since they try to harness their powers (sometimes, and always ill-advisedly, by force).
Notable Members
Faiza (ifrit, representative)
Oriana ("mermaid"/alien, representative)
Aoi (ningen, caretaker)
More on infernals here and more on celestials here.
Tumblr media
The Natural Order
"Beasts. Monsters. Creatures." It doesn't matter what others call them. The Natural Order is composed of beings that remain true to what they are—intentionally or naturally—and do not bend to the ideals or expectations of human society. They are what they are and will protect what they came from.
Member Types: Monsters of the natural world—the beasts and plants native to this environment or who have chosen to call this place home. Creatures, sentient flora, sasquatches, legendary animals, mishipeshu, impundulu, myconids, minotaurs, fenghuang, dragons, etc.
Connections: The Natural Order gets along well with the ILN and the Revenants. They despise the Magi and hold a strong grudge against them for allowing the continued destruction of the environment. They also consider both the Magi and the Court of Blood to be insufferably pretentious. They tend to avoid the Outsiders and the Fey. The Natural Order's interests and concerns lie with this world alone.
Notable Members
Lahuán (tree, leader)
Pabu (yeti, advisor)
Sifiso (impundulu, advisor)
Iphis (satyr, advisor)
More on monsters here.
Tumblr media
The Slayers
A militant organization that praises hatred and glorifies violence. But it's all in the name of something... good. Right? The Slayers are the anti-faction, sworn to hunt down and destroy all supernatural forces in order to keep people safe. Humanity is in a silent war against apex predators, but slayers will be prey no longer.
Member Types: Humans and demi-humans.
Connections: The only faction with whom the Slayers have a working (if incredibly tense) relationship is the Revenants. Not much is known about the nature of this relationship, though there is plenty of speculation (rumors abound about the Revenant leaders selling out beings that don't agree with them or pose a threat to their power). The Slayers consider the Magi to be the antithesis of their order and consider all members of that faction to be abhorrent traitors to humanity.
Notable Members
"The Guardian" (demi-human, leader)
Joaquin Osorio (human)
Other posts about the Slayers here and here. More on the faction in general here.

i think it would be funny if people occasionally arose from the dead. like if that was a real-life one-in-a-million but well-documented Thing That Sometimes Happens, and the entire legal system around death (laws on inheritance & marriage & murder etc) had to include caveats for the unlikely-but-scientifically-possible event that the dead person in question might spontaneously self-resurrect, even years or decades after death. it would raise so many inconvenient and absurd possibilities

request: "What do your bishops look like and how does the lamb think of them?"
I haven’t decided (or started) on designs yet. As for my lambs opinion, they process everything through humour, I would say this is their surface level opinion on the bishops. There’s obviously the deeper-seated issues they have w them tho.
