RANT: How exactly are the writers biased towards Rhaenyra and the Blacks?

This has just got to stop. Greenies are embarrassing themselves.

On the one hand, they say that Rhaenyra is clearly sooooo bad (for who knows what reason. Disliking her as a person is not a good reason. I can give you a list to touch the floor of crimes committed by the greens this season. Rhaenyra has literally done nothing so far. That’s right, she really is a victim.)

On the other, they say that Rhaenyra is portrayed better by the writers on the show, and it is not fair (boo hoo).

Aha, so you admit that Rhaenyra is clearly better than the greens…you just don’t like the idea. Boo hoo.

So, which is it? Contradictory much?

I seriously believe that the people who support the greens have certain issues in relation to privileged people, such as Rhaenyra.

Guess what? Rhaenyra was born a Princess, she is privileged and that is not her fault. If you are jealous of her, that is your problem.

Getting away with things? What exactly has she gotten away with? Are we beating the same old horse concerning her first three children? Just stop, seriously. Let’s see what you would have done in her situation.

The greens, on the other hand, my God, they outright killed sooooo many people and they have irredeemable assholes in their group. Not to mention that the Hightowers have been plotting to steal the throne from the Targaryens since the beginning. And now I am supposed to feel sorry for usurpers? Did I miss something? They brought it on themselves.

Alicent Hightower, a bitch certain people love to portray as the Virgin Mary, is a hateful and jealous shrew because she is low-born and didn’t have privileges, like Rhaenyra did. Boo hoo! Life isn’t fair, sweetheart. If you want someone to blame, how about your power hungry, manipulative snake of a father? Are we all to start civil wars when we are married to old men who can’t give us an orgasm?

I would have sympathized with her, if she had acted a whole lot differently. She is a low-born young woman who was pushed and also seduced her way in the highest position of power for a woman at the time (queen consort). She should have been thanking the Gods for her undeserved luck. There were many better young women who didn’t have such good fortune. Yea, it was her father who forced her, bla bla bla. Fine. I’ll give her that.

But if I were in her position, I would have acted with dignity and been quiet as a mouse, not intent on causing trouble left and right. Because she doesn’t deserve what was given to her. She never did. She wasn’t a mouse. She decided to abuse her power, as if she has always been entitled to it. She wasn’t. As much as she wants, she will never be Rhaenyra. She spent all her time sticking her nose in Rhaenyra’s business when she should have been teaching her pride and joy not to rape servant girls and act his age. Rhaenyra’s children are just as much Targaryen by blood as the Hightower spawns, but unlike them, they are well-educated and show kindness. That’s because Rhaenyra didn’t give a damn about Alicent’s life and spent her valuable time caring for and educating her children.

So, by putting all cards on the table, this was never about honor and decency for Alicent. She wanted to stick it to Rhaenyra and take away her throne because she is jealous of her, for having love, for having solutions to her problems, for not being stuck in a position she can’t get out of, for having more freedom than her. She should just admit that this is what it’s all about. She was close to admitting it when she snapped and attacked Rhaenyra in episode 7 (showing her true colors).

Hatred and jealousy towards a former friend, whom she screwed over when she started seeing her father behind her back.

Male over female monarch on the Iron Throne is a tradition and followed due to precedent. It is not stipulated in any law!

By royal decree, Jaehaerys named Viserys his heir because the Lords wanted it. He wasn’t forced to listen to them. But he did, because he wanted to avoid upsetting them (the coward).

By royal decree, Viserys named Rhaenyra his heir. A King’s decree is law, even if it doesn’t correspond with tradition. Rhaenyra was set to inherit the throne. It is hers by royal decree. Period!

You know how the situation would have looked like in modern times? Picture this:

Your best friend, whom you have known your entire life, starts to secretly see your rich father behind your back after your mother passes away (I don’t give a damn that it wasn’t her decision. She chooses not to tell you.). Then, your father springs on you that he will marry her. After your father dies, your former-best friend and her gold-digging family take away your inheritance for themselves. Would you still be rooting for them?

Bottom line:

Stop whining about how the writers make Rhaenyra look good. The book is very subjective and inaccurate. GRRM himself said to pay attention to the show, not the book. The show indicates what parts of the book are false and which aren’t.

Also, need I remind you that the greens are given a pass on screen on all the crimes they committed up until now? You don’t see me whining about how unfair that is, because in the book they didn’t kill people “accidentally”.

This is GRRM’s story and he is involved in the production. If he decides that the Blacks are the anti-heroes and the Greens are the anti-villains, that’s just how it is, and no amount of your “critical thinking” is going to change that.

In case you haven’t noticed, GRRM does not treat usurpers too nicely. He wipes out their entire line, because that is a little something called justice.

That is exactly what is going to happen to Aegon Hightower and his mother will have a front row seat.

Alicent Hightower is a clear example that hatred and jealousy doesn’t get you far in this world. You need to mind your own damn business and if she and Otto would have done so (and not tried to usurp the throne from the rightful ruling House) they wouldn’t have had such horrific (and totally deserving) fates.

There are no good and bad sides here, sure. However:

The Blacks: anti-heroes

The Greens: anti-villains

So, who you root for is your business but stop trying to make it easier for yourself to root for someone you shouldn’t be rooting for by blaming the writers. It’s your decision. Live with it!

Messy theory/rant on Sparkle based on her Myriad Celestia trailer

Sparkle’s trailer is very interesting, partially because we can’t rely on it to be accurate due to Sparkle being an unreliable narrator, but because the potential implications reveal so much about her.

The trailer sets her up as a puppet master of sorts. Obviously not in the more literary sense where she’s the manipulator behind Penacony’s events or whatever, but in a more literal sense. From her/Black Swan’s story quest it’s apparent she has an affinity for showmanship and drama, but it’s significantly more interesting to imagine that she’s placed herself as the star of various ‘shows.’

Not to mention on the off chance what we see in the video is somewhat true, then Sparkle’s slightly cringe inducing Joker references start to stack up.

The trailer implies that she was a famous actress in HSR Japan, who played Sparkle, the character. Her mask seems to be ‘Sparkle’ and at first the mask copies what she does.

As time goes on the mask amplifies her acted emotions, before completely shifting to mock whatever emotion she may be acting or feeling.

(Side note: if her mask was a Masked Fool’s mask from the start, then there’s some possible implication that it could contain Aha’s power and therefore corrupt the wearer but that’s based off a gut feeling combined with the implication from Sampo that the mask seems to have powers attached to it)

One, it’s very much giving Nahida’s teaser. Two, it seems like constantly putting on an act drove Sparkle, the persona/mask, to latch onto Sparkle, the person. My guess is that she was a theatre actor (based off the stage and audience we see) and as theatre actors do, they repeat the same performance over and over and over until the run of their show ends.

It’s possible that due to her popularity, Sparkle’s show kept on getting extended to the point where she was performing the exact same play every day. I don’t know about you but that would definitely drive me insane and bored.

Due to that it’s possible that because of a combination of a psychic break and sheer boredom due to monotony, she ended up leaving the show, becoming a Masked Fool, and seeking her own elation. This also comes back to her being a puppet master, and from going from an actress to the director. If I’m even slightly right, this explain why she gets so mad when her stories get out of her control.

Finally, the single line in the trailer where she mentions that ‘the world is just a stage’ explains why she’s so cruel to others and purely focused on her happiness alone without regard for others.

If all the world’s a stage, then the people are just characters. Characters are there to serve the plot, and whatever tragedies befall them is just how the story goes.

Edit: seems I was slightly right? Sparkle was a character to begin with and at some point the person playing Sparkle became Sparkle.

(I have successfully overanalyzed the Infinite Hole Ending :D ALSO THIS IS THE EDITED VERSION BTW– the one that's like this below this is the unedited :D just delete that one shshs, not this one :]) sooooo upon the first 2 and a half minutes, I noticed a lil thingy that may have been a plothole.

You know how The Narrator constantly says/mentions that he himself made the game? That he was the only one who created everything — Stanley included (this is also directly said in the TSPUD trailer/release video)? Not sure if this is just me overthinking again (probably is) but there's this line in the Infinite Hole ending that immediately caught my attention;

"Oh. Did the hole seem even shorter to you, this time? I couldn't help but feel like you spent a little less time in there than you did before."

Now, me, being your local overthinker, decides that this implies one of the three things listed below;

1) The Narrator is very forgetful.

2) He's just a really good actor.

3) That was Timekeeper's doing.

(I'm not leaning to the 3rd option more wdym hahaha–)

Think about it, Ceres — think about the New Content Door, the Confusion Ending, the– the myriad of random occurrences that even The Narrator isn't fully aware about. If you were to take everything to a more serious approach, wouldn't you agree that a person who has spent a long long time in perfecting their game should at least remember every little detail and thought that went into it? Think about it! There's beta testing, alpha testing– heck, because he seems to claim to have created everything, wouldn't that mean that technically he would have had to look through every little thing (plus the texturing!! THE TEXTURES!!) and end up accidentally remembering every little detail? Isn't that why he has a script? (headcanon >) It's because he's already memorized the entire map, he just can't memorize a bunch of endings that revolve around the map. But do you know who does(according to the fandom)?

Timekeeper!

All the little changes to the map, Ceres! The New Content Door, the infinite hole slowly getting less and less infinite, the progress board at the quote-on-quote "end" of the Confusion Ending! If you were to take every little detail and glitch and something-something (you get what I mean) in a more serious approach, wouldn't you say that they were rather odd and inexplicable unless if you add Timekeeper into the mix?

Translation: I just really wanna give them some content </3

BUT ANYWHO BACK TO THE INFINITE HOLE ENDING

not me adding the "every ending can be perceived as a way of divorce" concept in here but aha– this piece of dialogue got me fired up ok

"I'm out! Goodbye, Stanley! You couldn't bear to be away from the hole and now you get more time with it than you could have ever have asked for. It's a win for everyone! You get to be with the hole, I get to do literally anything else. Take care, Stanley. I hope you and the hole have a wonderful rest of eternity together."

Do I need to explain this? Does this piece of dialogue need to be explained? Really, does it require such a lengthy explanation for it to be fully understood by you lot? I don't think so! The Narrator is just very jealous over a hole. How sad. ..and gay.

SO! By the time The Narrator is gone, Stanley is like "weLp time to hallucinate."

But then lemme just mention what I said beforehand

"The Narrator claims to have made everything, which also includes Stanley"

...bro??

this implies that The Narrator made the whole scene

This includes the dramatic music, the backgrounds, the random buttons that do lots of funny but mildly useless stuff, and guess what? Also the alternative drawings/appearances of ✨Stanley✨

I dunno abt u guys, but I like to genuinely think that The Narrator created everything (not in an irl sense, i meant it as in "He made The Stanley Parable canonically, not in reality" kind of way :D) simply because it gives a lot of Stannarrator opportunities.. huehuehue

but uhhh that's all for my rant!! :D (I deeply enjoyed this lmao)

Oooo gotta love some good ol made up Timekeeper lore. I love the idea of TK messing with various things in the Parable without Narry knowing. But yeah, the whole contradictions thing where you can't really tell if the Narrator made the game or not is partly why I think he didn't and was just imbued with memories to make him think the did, even though he really doesn't have all that much control over what happens in the Parable. But that's just me, lol.

1. Who are your literary influences, and have they shaped your own writing?

I don’t know how to answer that question tbh because I’m not sure what “literary influences” is supposed to mean 😅 so I guess I’ll just rant about writers I admire, I like doing that

I can think of two specific writers whose work I’m really a fan of. The first one that came to my mind is Virginia Woolf because after 3 and a half years in university studying English lit, my brain is wired to think about English speaking writers first aha. When I read Mrs Dalloway for the first time I was blown away by Woolf’s writing style, the way she uses stream of consciousness is truly spectacular. I wish I could do that lol

The second one, and probably my favourite writer ever, is a French writer, Edouard Louis. I’m sure that one of his books was translated to English, not sure about the others, but I’d really recommend the novel that made him famous; En finir avec Eddy Bellegueule, or, in English, The End of Eddy.

His books are autobiographical novels in which he writes about different topics (growing up gay in a conservative, working class environment in the north of France, reporting a rape to the police as a man, the impact of politics on the working class, and more). I love his writing style because it’s very “simple” in the way that it is accessible. He says that he doesn’t want to write about the working class in a way the working class can’t read. I’m also really interested in the topics of his books, having grown up gay in a conservative, working class environment.

As for influencing, I don’t know how much they influence me. Perhaps Edouard Louis does in a way because reading his books made me want to add more elements about class into my stories

(I like joking that the man radicalised me, but honestly, the last few pages of his book Qui a tué mon père? would radicalise anyone, it’s a brilliant piece of political writing)

2. Are you a pantser or plotter?

After googling what pantser is, I can tell you that I am that! I usual have a general idea of the beginning, themes, and ending of my stories, and then I go with the flow for the rest. Once (for Live and Die) I tried planning everything, with a timeline and everything, but ended up not following that at all because I change my mind about things, or I think about an element that changes the trajectory of things, etc. I feel like a story is a living thing, it evolves as you work on it

3. What’s a headcanon that hasn’t made it to a published fic yet?

I’m thinking really hard about that question because I have put a lot of headcanons in my stories already aha, but I can’t find one specific thing, I’m sorry😅 I’ve been writing Snowbaz for so long, I’ve had time to cover my headcanons aha. All the ones I can think of I’ve already put in a fic

A Tangent on Why Queer Family Matters to Me (pretty long)

One thing that really irritates the fuck out of me is when homophobes try to denounce same-sex parents under the guise of their kids needing a proper mother and father figure in their life. Now obviously I think that's complete horseshit. The funny thing is I didn't realise why it irritated me so much until earlier this year.

When I was younger I would question why I was so unbothered by the LGBTQ+ community despite coming from a country that actively reviles it and views it as a crime (Nigeria). Even figuring out that I was bi and nb didn't really feel like an 'aha!' moment. I literally just straight up got a crush on a girl in the middle of high school and spent a month reevaluating my entire being and just came out the other end like "huh. guess that's a thing now". It never felt like a big deal, because it never felt like it was "out of the ordinary" to be queer in the first place.

I only just realised early this year that it's because I was raised by two women; my mom and her childhood best friend platonically moved in together way before I was born. My dad dipped early, so I literally grew up in a household that was completely different from the heteronormative structure that a big chunk of society still views as the norm. And yeah, even though they're both the biggest cishets to have ever cishayed, they still raised me and my sibling well. Pretty fucking well, in fact. And in doing so they taught me that there is literally no concrete picture of 'family'. As long as you love the hell out of each other and stick together then you meet that criteria. That fact is something that will always be important to me. And it honestly boggles my mind that despite this pretty clear-cut concept, a lot of people still find it hard to grasp? Like I've gotten into so many arguments with people who think that this belief is the mic drop of the year, and like—it's really not??

And hearing about more people who were raised in homes that didn't make gender/sexuality out to be something that's set in stone (because it isn't) makes me feel really happy because like, YEAH! A person's identity 1. isn't something that they have to be sure of right off the bat, and it's okay (healthy, even) for parenting styles to support that, and 2. DOESN'T make your parents terrible people because they're depriving you of the father/mother you never had, or whatever. Like I understand that there are some levels of nuance to this argument but just. To anyone who has this opinion, I just want to stress this.

Dysfunctional families are not caused by same-sex parents. They are caused by dysfunctional parents and/or family members, irrespective of sexuality or gender identity.

Those two ideas can coexist, and even intersect! But one does not equal the other. And having the conventional idea of the nuclear family be basically mythologised by conservatives or homophobes (or both) just paints queer people as horrible parents for just existing, while upholding the idea that as long as a family has a mother and a father, they're Perfectly Splendid. Which is a pretty damaging narrative to hold on to. I know I'm definitely privileged to have the family I do because a lot of queer people don't, and that's why this whole thing makes me so mad. Because according to some, maybe a lot of people, my family isn't valid. It's other. It's wrong. And that's a really ignorant take.

But yeah, that's my way too long, extremely unstructured tangent that was probably just a rant but I needed to get it out of me. But hey, I'm barely an adult, my opinion on this topic probably doesn't even matter anyway, thank you

eh idk if you'll publish this but i wanted to rant about mcc and competitive gaming rly bad, sooo,,,, while i enjoyed event, i'm rather disappointed with aftermath of all of this, mainly: a) why are you trying to organise mcc underdogs in the first place? it feels like a cheap victory. like imagine you win - can you really brag about it? "yay guys i won an event without any s-tiers because... reasons." - is what it feels like to me. i watched red's pov and oh my god pearl did really good with everything: comms, mechanics, etc. and if she won, it would be bittersweet. something along the lines she is not good enough to win canon mcc, but good enough to win half-canon, while deminishing her value a) why organise an mcc underdogs event if 50% of participants are newcomers? call it mcc variety or something and make it non-canon for fun with special coin (even otv talked about it after their stream, they really enjoyed mcc and wanted to do an otv version of it). there's no one of regulars in finals, scott. b) okay, mcc underdogs with 50% of newcomers. why are you inviting really good minecraft event player - FBM - who specialises in mini-games? while he is not the best, he is on par with some s-tiers. strong player + newcomers = blood bath (and we are not even talking about blushi in team with him) c) why reddit is treating FBM like an s-tier after one half-canon event with 50% newcomers and underdogs? like what. it was not a perfomance of century. he did good among NEWCOMERS OH MY GOD. with my competitive side of knowledge (hello, i watched about 50 hours worth of minecraft events), he's not that good compared to many other testers. dorry. d) why people are being angry at FBM for 1st indiv and saying he shouldn't be allowed in mcc overall? his latest testing dates to 2 years ago, so it's not like he has strats or exploits or something like that. i can understand that he is a little bit of a sweaty player (20+ hours of mcci in week and god knows how many before that), but it's possible to balance. if blushi wasn't in this event - purple wouldn't have been in first overall. just give him sapnap treatment, scott.

e) and for the cherry on top: why on earth as of lately mcc can not decide whether they want to be competitive or for fun event? since addition of purpled/jojo/hannah it felt like everyone was getting better and better and more competitive and more competitive to the point where if you don't do vod review beforehand, you are gone.

it was so apparent when a lot of people got locked in sot today. there's A LOT to process if you are a newcomer, and if you don't - you perish. sure, there are a lot of vods and "how-to" videos, but learning strats doesn't prepare you for the real thing (ex: cyan in sot, abe in meltdown). and now they do canon (!!!) events that are mix of competitive and for fun. which is a choice for sure.

and while mccu didn't end up badly due to its nervewracking finale (boxbox vs. blushi finale), pretty close moments (pearl and cyan in meltdown, FBM clutching ar last second, hannah pkt, etc.) and a lot of respect and support for FBM from reddit - mixing fun and competitive today could cause BIG issues. remember mcc all-stars red and how everyone was like "ohhh who would've guessed /neg", even though event was purely for fun? yeah. but oh well, cyan did great comeback, so nobody is talking drama right now. fun fact: i have seen a comment that reads "this is what event could be like without dream" and boy. in how many words do you want me to explain you what is wrong. tl;dr; mcc underdogs was a bad idea. you are one the few blogs that post based takes on mcc, so i decided to join in :D reddit would execute me for this type of post aha

dear god… go off anon. i hope otv and friends do their version of mcc too bc if they do it well i foresee dteam and friends getting invites

a) i feel so bad for pearl. i saw her get top 10 and this would’ve been a great opportunity for her to shine but… lol

b) FBM should’ve never been in this event. the whole point of it is gone

c) LOL im curious to see how he did like. timing wise for certain games

d) its not his fault he was in this event, but scott should’ve never put him in. he could’ve debuted in mcc All Cracked

e) ITS FUCKING SCARY also WHY DIDNT THEY MAKE SOT EASIER??? its so clear that noxcrew wasn’t actually prepared for an ‘underdog’ mcc like why are u giving participation trophies out but making the game OLYMPIC LEVEL HARD

also mcc all stars was established from the start as a NON CANON event that didn’t fucking matter. they called mcc all losers MCC TWENTY SEVEN

Fun fact--Sasuke. I first saw him in the shounen jump magazine my friend had, and it was his chunin exam preliminary fight. My first experience seeing the curse mark. I didn't like it. So the anime came out and I immediately had a bias against him--wasn't upset when he 'died' in the land of waves...but over time slowly he grew on me. Now he's my fav and I cry every time I watch/read the land of waves arc. XD;;

The character everyone else loves that I don’t:

...Hinata. I mean, I don't hate her. I actually love her when she's a genin. But after shippuden hit...ahh, I really don't want to rant about it again. c':

Hmmm...This would be easier if the fandom was code geass lol. Because for every character I want to say, I just know someone's gonna pop out like 'but I love them!!' so I suppose I'll go with the obvious: Sakura.

anipoke rant time: Hau deserved so much better

i may be biased because hau is one of my favourite pokémon rivals for sure, but hear me out here okay (obviously major pokémon sun & moon anime spoilers up ahead of you haven't watched it already)

hau is a pretty important rival for ash, since of course, they battle in the alola league. it's a tough battle too, since rowlet is going to be at a noticeable disadvantage to decidueye. hau's also really enthusiastic about battling and is really energetic, just like ash! so surely, they'd have multiple encounters and get along super well, right?

well... no! not really!

first of all, i think hau was introduced WAY too late into the season. like, ultra legends?! that is the last part of the season, god damn it! considering that, in the games, hau is (afaik) one of the first characters you encounter, i find it crazy that he's introduced so late! i mean sure, ash is spending a lot of time at the pokemon school, so the likelihood of them interacting was kinda low, but still... i feel like his introduction should've been way earlier.

let me demonstrate my point with another green-haired rival: sawyer! throughout the second and third parts of xy, ash and sawyer interacted pretty frequently. a lot of them were meaningful too, not just "hey, let's battle!"... and again, sawyer becomes important because of the kalos pokemon league! and, just like hau, sawyer is a tough opponent for ash! but it feels more meaningful when ash wins because we watched sawyer get to develop his skills by battling and analysing ash's skills, by watching their battles you could tell that sawyer was getting much stronger, even stronger than ash! it was great to watch that development, leading up to that big moment; their battle at the pokemon league!

i know hau and sawyer are very different, but my point still stands, right? after hau's introductory episode, he did NOT appear again until it was time for the pokemon league, where it was all "aha oh yeah dartrix evolved and we're like way stronger" like it's great! but it would've been so much better to watch that development happen the same way we watched it happen with sawyer! if ash and hau had more of a time to build their rivalry (and friendship!), i think that battle would've been so much more meaningful! and it's not to say it wasn't, since rowlet and decidueye were established rivals already, but still... i wish his character could've been explored and developed more.

but i'm not done. i haven't talked about journeys yet!

now, granted, i haven't finished journeys yet. but i'm at the masters 8 tournament. so i'm pretty close to the end. now guess, how much screentime has hau had this entire season?

if you guessed less than 5 seconds, you'd be correct!

seriously though?! in the last s&m episode, hau was shown battling nanu. we can assume that he completed all of the island challenges by the time ash came back to alola, right? so... why did they never get to have a second battle? or... even interact at all??? it's genuinely so sad because with two kids eager to battle with passion, you'd think they'd be shown interacting and battling way more! but they don't!!!! hau hardly got ANYTHING throughout both seasons. fuck- he got basically NOTHING in journeys! honestly, the 5- no, it's closer to 3 - seconds he appears in journeys almost feels like a slap on the face for anyone who EVER wanted to see ash and hau interact again.

i mean i could say similar things about a lot of the rivals in journeys, mind you. but at least in the seasons they were introduced they were treated WELL. hau just. wasn't. which makes me so sad...

i played the demo just now, and i gotta say i loved it! i was so pleasantly surprised to see separate choices for gender and pronouns in character customisation - it's something I sadly don't see that often even in very inclusive IFs and it's also something that's making my whole experience a fair bit more comfortable. i identify as nb but i prefer she/her pronouns, even if pretty much any and every pronouns are ok for me - so i really wanted to say i appreciate that little detail!

i also liked the harbinger's oath - it's very cool how it stresses the importance of leadership and making a way when there is none, and not just, you know, staying faithful and loyal and stuff. the overall style, fashion and atmosphere are all very nice, the mix of ancient greek and victorian and original ideas is both familiar and new so it's hard to get bored!

oh, i loved the gods too. there isn't so many that either the author or the reader can get lost trying to untangle the threads of mythology, and you don't risk any of them being forgotten or becoming less prominent - it's nice! i loved the myths we've seen, the twins are charming! i thought I'd like to follow aurora since i usually go for sun aesthetic, but in this case i didn't really vibe with her. maybe it's because the 2 myths were mostly about euribia or at least her side of the story, so i just don't have enough info. so, here's hoping for some more mythology lessons in the future! ah, i also liked that fertility and love and marriage belong to different gods domains.

james and anna are dears, gotta tease them to marriage and (hopefully not) back :3

the ROs are... prominent, i guess? at this point i don't feel like the pc knows enough about them to see them for what they are, and i mostly used what i read from your blog to choose between them and orient myself. tbh I didn't quite like most of the flirting options (though it can be the case that I'm just picky lmao, don't take it to heart). i think i liked what you did with constantine - that some options aren't marked as flirting or anything but... they get a reaction from him, and in return the pc also reacts somehow. dialogues with him also feel less "cheap" - unlike some of the scenes where the so called flirting is just ogling or blushing and tripping over your words because of someone calling you lovely or something. constantine's scene also have this stuff but... to less extant? i think? i know it's some kind of imaginary world, but it's still hard for me to comprehend how a literal royal, a year before becoming the monarch, minutes after thinking "everyone is judging me i must be perfect" now goes around and makes a fool of themselves... but i still want to flirt! ugh! such dilemma! i loved margaret's first flirting option though - the one where pc asks anna to bring her another glass, now that was fun.

the "cold" options of dealing with f. were very nice too, i really enjoyed the balcony scene in the prologue!

anyway, sorry for ranting, and thank you for sharing the demo with us! wish you the smoothest progress and good inspiration and much free time to write! good luck 🍀💙

I'm so glad to hear this! I've found that it's really not much extra work on the coding side so I didn't think there was a reason not to add it.

The current demo is only a taste but the MC will be able to learn more as the story progresses and build friendship or romance as wanted. There are no straight "routes", as all characters have their own role to play in this story. I hope you will enjoy learning more about them. The rest of the chapters cover around a month of events each.

tbh I didn't quite like most of the flirting options (though it can be the case that I'm just picky lmao, don't take it to heart).

No worries, the flirting is something I added more shy options for because when I first released the demo, the feedback I received was that there weren't enough of those options. Also, flirting is the hardest for me to write about. But, my hope is that it will more natural and worthwhile in the rest of the game. :D

I may consider revamping the flirting that is available now but only after I get chapter 2 released.

man i have been feeling absolutely terrible lately i guess its(tm) back and i just feel nothing lol

no appetite no drive for anything not even to consume medias or entertainments?? and i have lost whatever fixations i have in the past.. i still love them but they make me feel nothing at the moment and it feels empty and horrible :/ cant even cook properly too!! its one thing i do to make something to comfort myself and for some reason its all awful now idk whats wrong lol im feeling sad abt it aha

long story short im currently taking a break from spending time with my family for a while bcos of reasons and im hoping i can get my brain to work like they used to??? bcos these past months feels as if i died and all these time im stuck in the purgatory lolol

It's okay if you don't have experience :) everything will happen at it's own pace and I just know you'll find love very soon. I know it's tempting to rush things and to gain experience asap but remember to stay safe and know that you're not "behind" in any way, although I understand why you might feel that way (I often do too). For me, it's kind of painful and very lonely to not have a love life when everyone around me does but, then again, everyone I know is in a heterosexual relationship so it's not like I want that anyway. Sorry I'm ranting a bit. You are so right about it being tempting to rush ahead before I’m ready to “catch up”. I guess it’s just a hard thing of being in this position where I’ve accepted this part of myself for sometime now and really want all the experiences I can get from it, but at the same time just really not emotionally being the type of person who could handle doing that with someone I didn’t have feelings for and trusted. So it’s like a tug of well there is an easy to solution to this and oh no but I want my first time to be with someone I care about , but oh no I really want these experiences and I’m running out of time and what if I enter an age where women won’t want to be with me because I’ll have no idea what I’m doing etc etc. Its a snowball aha.

I fully get you on it being painful to not have a love life 💕 I’m genuinely so sorry you in that position. I wish I could take it all away for you. But I hope with all my heart you find that one lady , one day, that makes you feel that all the time waiting was worth it. I hope she brings you all the love and happiness you deserve. I mean. I didn't really like s3 simply be abuse wtf they could've done so much more w the sparrows it was just very confusing? Sorta? Did likethe cliffhanger tho lmao (sorry for ranting aha)

No need to apologize! That's something that bothered me about S3 too, the way they introduced the Sparrows and then really did nothing with them besides bully the Umbrellas a few times?? They did Marcus so dirty by killing him right in the first episode, but I guess it was for the plot, huh. They never really developed any of them besides the ones we were supposed to care about, Ben and Sloane, y'know? Maybe that was the point though to make us care about the ones that would eventually stay, but still I don't like how they handled The Sparrow Academy this season

Something I found interesting as I thought about it more is that as a fandom here we spent about two years coming up with amazing theories and speculations for S3. But when S3 came out I was disappointed because well, it's nothing like I thought it would be and expected more haha! I want to make it clear though that I am not shitting on the writers for TUA because I still love S3, it's just that the fandom has come up with amazing stuff that we had hoped to see in S3 or speculated to happen but was never guaranteed to happen y'know? Again, this is just what I thought and I don't want to sound like I'm being snobby but just being in this fandom and hearing all these cool ideas got my hopes up but that's my fault lol. And to be fair even without the fandom's influence, I still expected more in S3, but that's something I will eventually talk about later

But yeah the Sparrows were just kinda there y'know? I don't really how to describe it right now and I'll probably circle back to this after I rewatch S3. And I am also a fan of the cliffhanger! It filled me with dread and fear of the unknown for the Hargreeves and I love it

- rings of power is starting to show it’s cracks. it feels like they want to do a measured epic story but can’t help but lean into really cliche american tv/movie tropes. like the stupid fakeout (?) with galadriel leaving but AHA NO ACTUALLY ITS ALL GOOD , GIRL POWER.

the same ep they basically did the end of fellowship of the ring with grey worm’s character and the ugly haired boy. that kind of scene is something you stick at the end of something, that you build up to, like LOTR did, not shove in the middle of the 4th episode. it went on and on and I just didn’t care.

the orc chases are so boring generally.

what else... oh, epic rant incoming.

the southlanders are... strange. what on earth is going on with the shitty fantasy names they’ve been given? they speak in a northern accent and have modern celtic names like “Bronwyn” and “Rowan”, and wtf is “Theo” supposed to represent? Theodore? Or are they going to reveal he has a “Þéod-” name, to evoke Théoden?

Waldreg looks like a crappy twisting of “*Wealdríc”. Tredwill is a legit English surname probably from the middle ages from “Tread-well”, in the genre of surnames names like “Drink-water” or “Shake-spear”.

And as for Halbrand............... brand = fire. Fine. What is “Hal-”? *Healfbrand? *Hallbrand? *Healhbrand? The first two could parse, maybe - ‘half-fire’ or “hall-fire”. Brand is not a native english name element. So we’ll pretend it’s a continental German name maybe - “Halb-brand” still works i guess... “Halb-rand” = “half-shield”. Or Scandinavian = “*Hállbrand” - treacherous fire.

Look, honestly it’s just a Skyrim-esque pseudo-germanic nonsense name. I put in more effort than they did trying to understand it, I think.

Anyway my point is Tolkien was a language scholar, I’m pretty sure they have scholars working on this half a billion dollar show, what’s the deal? Tolkien put lots of thought into the character names, which were meaningful and told you about them. The nations and cultures he created had coherent languages and themes. Why are these guys a mixed bag of random shit?

like, the harfoot/hobbits are done better. these OCs makes no sense.

Xiao: Jealous HCs

Xiao has been alive for a very long time. He’s felt hatred, sadness, and every ugly emotion under the sun. But when Rex Lapis had released him from that possession and he was given a second chance, he promised himself that he would not let himself go down that hole again. He’s been living in solitude and even the barest amount of social interaction he does have, he still keeps his distance. That was until you kicked down and broke the door and entered his life. It was the first time he had ever felt love, affection, and happiness. He was grateful and respectful to Rex Lapis and his fellow adepti but with you, a growing sense of personal protectiveness burst forth but even then, he had never been extremely jealous over anyone.

If you played with Dusty Ming then he was fine with it. If someone was taking up your time he might get protective sure, but never extremely jealous. Even when Rex Lapis himself complimented you on your looks or prowess, he would never feel jealous. He either didn’t know the person or trusted them and while it was his duty to protect Liyue, he never associated himself with any others so what was there to be jealous of? That was Xiao’s mental rant as he watched Childe of all people talking with you and beside you and-

“Deep breaths Xiao. Remember what Guizhong taught you. You cannot pick up your spear and beat your problems into submission. It is not healthy and it is frowned upon in 7 regions”

He might have gotten a bit too used to your affection plus adding onto the fact that it was Childe, the man that thought it was a good idea to summon an ancient god just so he could get the attention of Rex Lapis, therefore endanger you - and Liyue but mostly you - meant that he was dangerous and a schemer and who knows what else. Maybe he was just a bit touched starved but with Childe taking up all your time and how casual Childe was skinship. From ruffling your hair, swinging an arm around you, and laughing along he couldn’t help but feel that familiar green monster dig itself into his heart and laugh at him.

You still have his sleeve on you and in theory that should be enough but Childe doesn’t know the first thing about Liyue traditions if it doesn’t involve fighting. For christ sake, he used the expensive chopsticks Zhongli gave him as weapons. He doesn’t understand why Zhongli and you say he can’t eviscerate him. It was fine, it wasn’t as if he was some animal that constantly needed your attention and care so he could stay strong. What would you say if you saw him like this?

It’s only when Childe, looks him in the eye, grins smugly, and places a hand on your shoulder that Xiao snaps his chopsticks in half and proceeds to throw the pointed end at Childe’s head. Reputation be damned.

It took a bit but you managed to rip out the chopsticks from the wall of where Childe’s head was. A quick apology to Verr, who didn’t even seem mad that the wall almost had a chopstick hole sticking through it said it was alright, and you quickly dragged Xiao up to the balcony.

“Alright, I know you don’t like Childe and that’s completely understandable but you can’t just attack him like that okay?” you sighed as you looked at the huffy adeptis. He never liked Childe in the first place but it never escalated to a point where he actually tried to attack the fatui. Threats, all the time, but if it wasn’t for Childe’s reflexes you were sure that he would be in some serious danger.

“He’s dangerous and a threat. You shouldn’t associate with him so much and letting him get to close. You never know what those Fatui are thinking” Xiao huffed, crossing his arms and turning away to look over Liyue from the railing. It almost seemed like he was...pouting?

You look at him curiously as you study his features. Looking for cues that only you would recognize before a small lightbulb went off. Come to think of it, it has been awhile since you were up here, just the two of you. You slowly reached over and slide your hand between his arms so you could curl your fingers around his. Your palm resting on his as you slowly but surely pull him into a hug. You almost laugh a bit when his arms go immediately around your frame and pulls you in closer

“I’m sorry. I guess I have been spending a bit of time with Childe and Zhongli. But you still can’t try and stab Childe ok?” you grin as you cup his face as his yellow eyes stare back at yours. He seems to ponder about it for a second before huffing and nodding.

“Good boy” you laughed as you kiss his forehead. Xiao hmms happily, he missed this. It still felt a bit weird to him to express this type of affection and to receive it but it was nice. The moment however was ruined when he saw Childe talking to Zhongli and pointing at you both from underneath the stairwell. His face immediately glared at the harbinger. You said he shouldn’t try and attack him so...

“Xiao, did you ju-?”

“DID YOU SEE THAT ZHONGLI? HE HISSED AT ME! HE ACTUALLY HISSED AT ME!”

I kinda forgot I used to write small fics at the bottom. Whoops, Xiao is a goodboy. Best boy. I do not see childe because he is a scammer. If Childe is a fox then Xiao is a cat. I take no criticism.
