warning: all of these are just purely based off of my personal insight and views of the characters and how i think they’d dress today

i picture Eren in todays world really rocking with a minimalist street style

he’s all for comfort and breathability in his clothing and his style reflects that

a closet full of loose fitting boxy t-shirts

LOVES the cold months so he can layer his hoodies and leather jackets

while also sporting the slutty tightly fitted black shirt grey sweat pant combo every now and then

maybe even just walking out his apartment with a wife pleaser and baggy jeans on as a fit alone

all paired with sneakers, small silver hoops, and a chain of some sort

Mikasa Ackerman: 🍒💿📷🃏

we all know for a fact that Mikasa can DRESS

she just has an eye for fashion and has a unique style of her own

one that isn’t over the top, in terms of being a spectacle, but just well put together and tailored to HER. a girl you 110% give a second glance

she is a girlie who LOVES wearing any skirt whether it be long, midi, mini or knee length she LOVES them

most of her pieces are pretty free flowing with lots of different silhouettes

absolutely loves a good leather boot, pair of mary janes, or platform loafers

she literally could wear a trash bag and make it look like it’s the next trend

and has a huge collection of baggus

Armin Arlert: 🎧📘🍵☁️

Armin will literally never be free of the soft light academia aesthetic

the cable knit sweaters, soft cardigans, and sweater vests will forever have a hold on him

but what college boy Armin loves more than anything is a good quarter zip or quarter button up

or a nice casual white and blue striped button up

almost all of his clothing is soft and warm materials

definitely withholds the cute boy in the library title

Jean Kirschtein: 🪐👁️‍🗨️⚡️🌉

will live and die on the hill that Jean is a Carthartt guy

his look is a casual-relaxed but clean one

he’s all for clothing that is durable and will last him forever

Jean’s style is honestly super basic but NOT boring

although Jean’s style isn’t one that is made to make it hard to look away from its one that really just compliments him well

loves a good hefty Dickies or Carthartt jacket, basic white t-shirt, or a loose button up over a tank top

while wearing a variety of rings, with small hoops and a chain

his clothes compliment his strongly built and lengthy body well, which is why although they are basic, it isn’t boring

Connie Springer: 🎧💽☄️🩻

Connie is a literal fashionista

he probably is tiktok famous for his fit check videos and adventures at the thrift stores

the street style aesthetic was MADE for Connie

knows how to put pieces that may not look ideal together into a cohesive fit

LOVES JORTS and swears he made them trendy again

and wearing jerseys of teams he has no clue of , but it’s for the fit so who cares

Sasha Braus: 🍰🪩🗽🧸

the DEFINITION of downtown girl or coming of age movie in a city aesthetic

Sasha lives for the nostalgia of 90s pieces and it shows in her clothing

comfort is also a huge factor that plays into Sasha’s outfits

color is another component that makes Sasha’s outfits HER outfits

LOVES a good brown leather jacket

Sasha honestly though has a hard time sticking to just ONE specific style and will wear whatever feels good for her

Marco Bodt: 🍙🪴♠️🍊

Marco is a soft boy at heart but he’s traded in the traditional sweaters vests for hardy collared jackets

he absolutely LOVES PLAID

and loves layering his button ups with his worn out thrifted jackets

has a more warm palette in terms of colors and leans more towards earthy tones

super casual in his shoes though sticking to good tried and true high top converse, sambas, or loafers if he's feeling fancy

YES, all of this takes me back to something I wanted to touch a lot more on in my original post when it comes to the historical male image, Percy, Lestat, and Matadors; because it truly does link back to how AMC is playing with dandyism and society's expectations about effeminate men.

Dandyism is a form of resistance culture. As I've said before, Lestat flouts gender norms because HE CAN do whatever he wants & get away with it. His androgyny's on a different level: effeminate or masculine, he's still a vampire, a SUPERnatural creature elevated beyond the bounds of social mores that determine what men & women could or SHOULD act/dress like. MANY people across social media have pointed to Lestat's limp wrists, long blonde "Barbie" hair and ESPECIALLY him dressing in drag in Ep7 as proof that he's the "wife/mother/woman/femme fatale" in Lousta's relationship, and THEN claim its either gender essentialism or homophobic/racist to say Louis is CANONICALLY female-coded one in BOTH the books and show (as AR said so). But no, Lestat in drag was a power move, because he doesn't care what anyone thinks/says/does--he'll just eat them. Mockingly eating the baby in a dress was a deliberate bastardization of motherhood/womanhood. Louis is called every homophobic name in the book by those expecting the black man to just take being insulted, but MARQUIS de Lioncourt DEMANDS being crowned KING of Mardi Gras, Krewe of Raj, & he'll show you exactly what he thinks about your silly homophobic hypocritical human society: You're just "the MEAT," let them eat KING Cake--you're his FOOD. Eff y'all, I'm dressed to KILL you, & laugh doing it.

Lestat's behavior is not only derived from the time period he was born & raised in (the Rococo era of so-called "effeminate" high class dandies--a la Percy Blakeney, etc). Lestat is the embodiment of PRIVILEGE: a powerful rich white male vampire, who leans into being foreign/French White to excuse anything he does that people find strange/off/unnatural/dangerous--all the red flags. 🚩🚩🚩

And red flags brings me directly back to matadors/toreros.

😂 TYSM! Sam Reid dropped so many juicy deets; I couldn't resist! There's so much depth to the Matador outfit, beyond the gendered aspect of bullfighting that I discussed before. Let's go back to what Sam said about Lestat, and delve deeper into matadors:

The most iconic apparel worn by toreros ("bullfighters") / matador de toros ("killer of bulls") in Spanish bullfighting is the Traje de Luces, the "Suit of Lights." The colors are usually bright & vivid, as part of the showmanship & pizzazz. Darker palettes are less common, as shiny sequins (the luces/lights) became part of the standard fit.

However, Lestat's all-black Matador outfit from what Sam called the "villain sequence" in Ep5 seems to be loosely following the style of a different but very closely related outfit, the Traje Campero "Rural/Countryside Suit" aka Traje Corto ("Short Suit").

(These costumes are typically worn during ceremonial parades and a very specific festival I'll get back to in a moment, cuz it's important.) Unlike the Suit of Light's sequins & silk, the Rural Suit is made of suede, leather, or velvet, in dark muted colors. The pants can be light or dark, striped & patterned, with or without chaps (also found in gentleman's uniforms of military officers and cowboys).

The trajes originated from "the flamboyant costumes of the 18th-century dandies and showmen involved in bullfighting, which later became exclusive to the bullfighting ritual." (Wikipedia)

The ancestor of both trajes (luces/campero) is traditional 17th-19th century Andalusian clothing (Andalusia being the home of Spanish bullfighting), closely associated with a very particular type of masculine dandyism. (The campero/corto is also the costume worn by Andalusian male flamenco dancers.)

"Before the 17th century the profession of bullfighting did not exist as such, and the fighters did not wear luxurious & shiny trajes de luces, but instead normal clothes of the time according to the social class to which the bullfighter belonged. The first bullfighter trajes de toreros appeared in the 17th century, when professional bullfighters from Navarre & Andalusia wore characteristic garments with their gangs to participate in performances and thus differentiate themselves from other bullfighter bands." (translated/truncated from Spanish website)

In the mid-1700s, Francisco Romero revolutionized professional bullfighting by establishing the first matadors who fought on foot, heroically fighting the bull face to face with swords & the muleta (iconic red flag) in a dance-like performance, dressed in a suede/velvet coleto (jacket), a precursor to the traje campero. Romero (from a carpenter family) wanted to show off & stand out from the nobility, and changed the game entirely, through a form of social resistance-turned-innovation.

"At that time, bullfighting on horseback was more important, which was considered a sport and not a show. Bullfighting on foot was not yet widely recognized." (translated from Spanish website)

Bull-killing on horseback was practiced by Spanish noblemen, attended by lower class assistants on foot. Romero was the first to make on-foot matadors the stars of what was increasingly becoming a dandified show/performance/dance. Matador Joaquin "Costillares" Rodríguez introduced even more showmanship, competing against Francisco Romero's grandson Pedro Romero (famously painted by Goya--bottom right).

For his matches, Costillares (middle) dressed in flashy silks, threaded in shiny silver braiding; the precursor to modern traje de luces. Like Francisco Romero (left), Costillares wanted to show off & stand out; and revolutionized the male image of the bullfighter through clothes.

In 18th-19th century Andalusian Spain there were 2 types of dandy: the French-imported upperclass petimetre (effeminate dandy), and the indigenous working class majo (masculine/macho dandy).

The majo, like many dandies, became the peak of Andalusian fashion, across all social classes; and torero/matador outfits weren't the only ones to take cues from them:

18th-19th century majos "distinguished themselves by their elaborate outfits and sense of style in dress and manners, as well as by their cheeky behavior. The majos outfits were exaggerations of traditional Spanish dress. The style stood in strong contrast to the French styles affected by many of the Spanish elite under the influence of the Enlightenment. Majos were known to pick fights with those they saw as afrancesados ("Frenchified" – fops)." (Wikipedia)

The majos' flamboyant/cheeky/saucy/exaggerated behavior was aggressively masculine; a lower/working class resistance to social mores imposed on them by (foreign) elites, whom they saw as more feminine, and FOUGHT against, to reaffirm their masculinity. These dandies were violent, brazen non-conformists; as beautiful & stylish as they were dangerous. And matadors/toreros knew that the bullfight was the perfect arena to exemplify the spirit of the majos through the dandified performance art/sport of killing bulls--a universal cultural symbol of masculine prowess & strength. Spanish bullfighting used to belong solely to the aristocratic equestrian sphere. Lowly pages/assistants like Francisco Romero (dressed in the precursor to the Rural/Countryside Suit), were the first to buck the system by killing bulls on foot--he likely didn't own a horse. The Romeros were from a carpenter family. Costillares was the son of a butcher. But through bullfighting they gained social status and became icons of masculinity--and dandies.

Lestat--the nouveau riche son of a poor country marquis--insists on being all the beautiful things he is without apology: masculine & effeminate alike. But like I said, it was no coincidence that Carol likened Lestat's Ep5 villain outfit with matadors--he's fighting Louis for dominance in their household, and reaffirming his place at the top of their very gendered social hierarchy, as a warning to BOTH "the housewife" AND "the prodigal daughter" he feels are threatening his authority as their Maker, so he defeats them BOTH.

Carol Cutshall initially designed Lestat's matador pants as pajamas--loungewear. (Lestat's CASUAL & comfortable in his ability to KILL--matador means "Killer" in Spanish--and remember what I said about Louis & Claudia being put on the same parallel level in Ep5, when Claudia's attacked by "Killer" aka Bruce.) Sam said Carol made several versions of the pants; and yup, they're foreshadowed in Ep5 when Lestat first starts arguing about Louis' depression, then they pop up again in Ep7 during the Murder Plot--two instances @dwreader brilliantly linked Lestat (& Stanley Kowalski) wearing wifebeaters. (Listen, Carol, I just wanna talk.... 😅🔫)

And here's my last points about Lestat's matador outfit. First there's the irony of Lestat (who grew up poor in rural France) wearing the something very similar to the matador/torero's Rural Suit, traje campero (aka Short Suit (traje corto)). But what's more interesting is that that type of Short/Rural Suit is usually only worn during special festivals called the Tienta ("trials"), not the regular corrida ("bullfights").

These Tienta are trials for young and immature bulls to be tested in the ring, to see if they're fit for breeding/fighting. 🤯 FLEDGLINGS. And who's Lestat's young bull? "Built-like-a-bird" Claudia. Who's the immature bull? The "biggest rat eater of them all," the under-developed "botched" vampire Louis. During these trials, veteran matadors can show off their skills; and novice bullfighters are shown the ropes and prove themselves. Like I said: the matador wins again.

God, even the way Lestat dragged Louis' bloody body out of the courtyard by the jaw/neck resembles the way the defeated bull--bled out & stabbed in the neck--is dragged by the neck out of the ring.

And remember what I said about Lestat and FOOD. Cuz what happens to the bulls after the matadors kill them? They're sent to the slaughterhouse to be butchered for FOOD. People EAT the bulls.

So yeah, my whole point in this post and my first one is not to sleep on guys like Lestat, Percy--or even other famous dandies like Valmont from Dangerous Liasions/Cruel Intentions (mentioned by both @little-desi-historian and @dwreader)--just because they're effeminate--especially when they're emulating mannerisms from a time period where the model of what made a fashionable gentlemen/good breeding/elite society did NOT match modern expectations about gender. People are getting distracted by Lestat's yaasified manner, not what the show itself is signalling through the relationships he has with others.

This show is deliberately painting Lestat as a villain through Louis' & Claudia's perspectives, as they were the ones who suffered under his Reign of Terror. The symbolism behind the matador-inspired costume used in Ep5 reflected gendered social hierarchies embedded within bullfighting culture (in Spain, women only started being allowed to fight in the 19th-20th centuries). Dressed in clothes resembling that of a matador, Lestat beating & defeating Louis mirrored the defeat of the emasculated bull, and the reification of the victor's masculine prowess at the top of the foodchain.

pretty muuch everyone in the cast has some minor inconsistencies between their artbook cover artwork, ingame art work, and sprites. (this is INCREDIBLY nitpicky i do not care thaat much.. but still. wanna point it out. also i am DEFINITELY missing things i am not going too in depth here i am soo eepy)

some small examples:

sunny:

in sunny's official artwork, and all of his in game artwork, his vest is completely black, the only time this isnt consistent is in his actual pixel sprite

Omori:

he has a preeetty simple design? so his never gets too inconsistent. but at times his sock length are changed.

(socks lower than the knees)

Kel:

Obviously, DW!Kels shirt changes constantly between artworks. cant even be annoyed at this one that shirt looks like agony to draw, altho his sprite loses the more pastel coloration.. altho i think this is just kind of a consistent thing with the dw sprites, so i wont point it out much with them.

RW Kel doesnt have.. anything suuuper noticeable ?as far as i can tell. but his sprite and actual artwork definitely have.. inconsistencies (skin tone, along with the stripe on his pants)

Aubrey:

DW Aubrey doesnt have anything suuper inconsistent i believe? so i wont bring her up. and we have already talked about RW Aubrey. her outfit is. WILLDLY inconsistent between artworks, even in the game itself. (im NOT getting into other official artworks here but . her shoes too i believe tend to not stick too one design)

Hero:

for DW Hero, just inconsistencies with the stripe thickness, the collar part of his pajamas, and.. whatever the part near the hands are called being either solid white, solid blue, or striped

for RW Hero.. oh boy. His shirt collar

(going to point this out first, in a LOT of both RW in DW Basil's actual artwork, he has 2 little tufts of hair at the top of his head, but in both his talk sprites and overworld sprites, its missing)

for DW Basil there is.. 2 things i think?

1: the flower crown. it varies.. a LOT between artwork. kind of obvious.

aaand. 2. his shirt . in most artwork ^ like shown above, it has a rounded tshirt neck. but in one specific artwork, it shows it being a collared shirt with a button

for RW Basil.. i dont think theres much?

kiiind of the same issue as sunny? tho less obvious ig. his shirt is shown as dark green in the official artwork, but as a muuch lighter green in the sprite.

also in his battle sprite, he loses that... little part between the vest and the collar of his shirt? idk what to call it.

i beliiieeeve thats.. it for them all? i think i am missing things apologies .but i dont feel like looking thru the wiki anymore . and i have no space left for imgs pretty much

Hades’ week!

For the next seven days, we will be using this blog as a celebration of Patrick Page’s Hades.There will be 8 days of prompts. (Why is there an 8th day of prompts in a Hades-week? Because the King commands lol.)

You can create new fanworks of any stripe or reblog old ones you’ve created with #hadesweek, and I will reblog it onto this blog. All fanworks are welcome. I’ve talked about Mel and Jayce’s default outfits and colour palettes here, but let’s play the fashion police once again and talk about Mel’s dresses some more.

Concretely, let’s talk about this dress:

This dress shows up on two separate occasions: in ep. 4, Mel is wearing it at her fundraiser party, and in ep. 8 upon her mother's arrival in Piltover. It makes another, minor appearance in ep.7 in the scene where she receives the oh so ominous letter from her family. I'll be calling this her "social call" dress.

Now how are these scenes connected? Well, in both these scenes, Mel finds herself in a situation she isn’t really comfortable in. On the party, she's standing apart from everyone else, grumpy, tipping her glass poilitely and faking smiles for her guests, but ultimately refuses to engage with them in any way.

In ep. 8 she's forced to engage with her mother. The woman who exiled her for basically being the nice one in her family of bloodthirsty warlords. Need I say more? In colour theory, black can symbolise sadness or anger. In both of these scenes, Mel expresses sadness and longing (her crush on Jayce, the loss of her brother Kino), but also shows contempt for her betters, especially her mother; cue this small exchange in ep. 4:

But interestingly, the dress in those two scenes isn't completely identical. The dress in ep. 4 has an exposed back, whereas the dress in ep. 8 does not.

So what can this mean? I believe that this small change in ep. 8, along with Mel's facial animation and body language in this scene (and her flashback), is supposed to convey an implicit fear of Noxus and her mother. Because while she finds the party tedious, she is also not afraid to quite literally expose her back to the Piltovans. They pose no danger to her. The Noxians, however, are quite a different story. The choice to cover her back in this scene serves as a nice bit of visual storytelling.

Furthermore, the design and the colour of this dress appears to recall the outfit in her flashback - the dominance of dark colour, the golden details at the centre of her chest, the stripes running down the front of her dress - signalising that perhaps, part of Mel still feels like a little girl in her mother's imposing presence. The grey colour is often used to represent neutrality and balance - meaning that Mel's values at this age haven't fully formed yet; the presence of yellow, on the other hand, tells us that she's an idealist as the colour frequently stands for hope.

But, Edda, what about the scene in ep. 7?

Well, the lazy and rather uninteresting answer is that, judging by the setting and lighting of the scene, this scene and the party in ep. 4 were crafted at the same time and thus can be dismissed as asset reuse (notably, Mel’s balcony scenes with Jayce and Ambessa, respectively, take place on what seems to be a different balcony with the same lighting utilised in both). That way the animators don’t have to redo this environment in a different lighting or adjust Mel’s other dresses for this lighting. Ta-da! You just saved yourself some money.

But let’s ponder the significance of the reappearance of this dress within the story. As is the case with the previous two scenes, the connection between Mel and her family is emphasised in this scene. She receives an ominous letter (accompanied by [ominous music] as the subtitles say) from her clan, most likely announcing her Ambessa’s impending visit to Piltover, perhaps accompanied by some directives.

Furthermore, in the beginning of this scene, we catch Mel in a pensive mood, no doubt pondering the hard choice of having to ask Jayce to betray his principles and arm the city with hextech weapons. The underlying recurrent motif of this particular dress being associated with her discomfort and dejection is thus retained, alongside its more overt connection to the looming presence of the larger Medarda Clan reasserting itself in these three scenes.

Hi just wanted to say that I really like the way you think about Damara.

Like I really like her, but I kinda of hate her character because of the way Hussie handles her.

There is also the japonese/Asian stereotype thing, I don't mind Damara being like Japonese or whatever, In fact I kinda of like it?(Im probably bias cause Im japonese, but still) but the way that it was written makes it look so insulting and kinda of fetishy an uh its just gross...

Also I have a thing againt her desing, its just-

Idk how to explain it, it just tickles me the wrong way. I guess it has to do with the fact that her clothes look far more chinese than japonese and the fact that she has those sticks coming out of her hair and it looks like chopsticks(thats not a thing people please stop drawing japones people with that, like draw her with an kushi or a kogai or like something..)

Idk man it just makes me so sad and grossed out…

Hey, I’m glad you like my thoughts on Damara! It means a lot, really! She, like all of the Alpha Trolls, has fantastic potential, though it was mostly squandered by them being written by… Well, Hussie. Genuinely, I think if she wasn’t written with such heavy-handed Fetishism and Misogyny, she would have honestly been one of the best characters in that specific cast! Alas, we can’t all have nice things, I suppose…

Her design always struck me the wrong way, too. You can tell she was designed without any due respect or sensitivity in mind- Hussie wasn’t designing her with “Japanese Woman” in mind, he was designing her with “Generic Eastern Asian Woman” in mind. She’s a stereotype in aesthetic, basically, and it’s written plainly and shamelessly across the entirety of her character design.

[DISCLAIMER: Take my discussion of this with a few grains of salt- I am a Westerner, and while I know a thing or two about some Chinese and Japanese history, I am not speaking from personal experience, nor am I an expert. I am guaranteed to get something wrong- these are just the thoughts I have on the matter from my own limited perspective. Feel free to correct anything I get wrong. Thank you.]

Hussie seemed to have been going for a “Pseudo-Traditional Oriental” Aesthetic for her, but it kind of just sucks, lol. Like, Racist execution aside, it’s incredibly plain, and nothing about it truly makes sense! Her shirt almost reads as Hussie halfheartedly making an attempt at drawing a Qipao, which could have been a very interesting display of her being a Time Player, considering those are essentially Flapper Dresses that are constantly evolving over time but… That doesn’t seem intentional. I am not about to give Hussie undue credit. Considering everything else about Damara, they probably just drew the most “Generic Eastern Asian” outfit they could think of and called it a day. It doesn’t even fold over the body- the neckline and the stripe going down the body aren’t folds, they kind of just look… Printed on. Even with all this aside, the Qipao is something that belongs more to Chinese culture than it does Japanese culture.

The hair hurts me in its level of stereotypicality, but it seems like a natural progression of whatever was going on with Aradia’s hair. I just wish the bastard didn’t complete the look with the Totally-Not-Chopsticks. Literally any other style of Kanzashi would have worked. Hell, it could’ve even been one hairpin that just splits off into prongs at the top to resemble the symbol for Aries, but… Nah, gotta have that chopsticks look! Painful, painful thing.

Jeff is at his jeep, as me and Johnnie arrive. he is reading a book, relaxing in the warmth of his car. he is wearing a navy blue tunic and brown pants.

He has silver white hair and golden eyes in black framed glasses, a ranger storyteller in the woods.

the ceiling is light grey and soft. the snow me and johnnie had walked in was a bit precarious, as there was ice there, so we are careful, our boots having a strong sole.

As we hop into the jeep, our boots leave light pink snow in the dark brown ground.

Jeff says, upon seeing me, ‘ I saw you fight through the snow with a sword, of the death and destruction. the soul has a timeline on its own. ‘ he was quite concerned at hearing about the fire, as he sees firemen ; wearing brown outfits and hard hat go into building.

johnnie and I remembered to ensure the apartment was safe from harm during. he was a little shaken, glad I had woken him up in bed, remembering an devastating event when firemen came.

I look at jeff at the passenger seat, noticing closer he had a white moustache, I was quite tired indeed, being tortured in my chains at perdition.

johnnie had a dream of a car crash, where he was in a car with me, and then a crash where we are lying on the black grainy asphalt, immobilised, with hands twitching. ‘ I had the worst dream, ‘ he says upon me waking him up.

I had been drawing and colouring and listening to music and television in my orange striped clothes, and fighting with Johnnie during our living at apartment. there is a piano there, in which I sometimes play. i remember johnnie says to me in our fight, ‘ you bring death and destruction wherever you go ‘ in the silence of what Jeff says.

Jeff is a bit confused at my talking about my neurosis, in our time on the jeep, spending time with each other. I am looking at my phone to refer to. he says, ‘ this is a pervasive wound called the abandonment wound. ‘ he then says:

jeff says I have been holding myself hostage, a strange situation ; of the witch in the hut possessing me. there was a white dragon with green scales, kohaku river, with me. ‘ I love you like infinity… keep slowing your heart down. ‘

johnnie hears me too, having experienced strange delusions too, yet just hoping nothing bad happens, as he is tired, and painting his own grief. he also sees how depressed and scared I’ve been ; especially during our fight, of me thinking he and my surroundings was mocking me, he saying, ‘ it’s getting to me. ‘ he seeing me swept away by the tide of tin.

I relax against the embrace of jeff, as I reunite with him in the forest, I lightly cuffing his ear with my hand.

the snow is sprinkling around us, like a snowglobe in the forest. I am wearing a light purple dress with a little bird emblazoned in black, and purple net in hair. a gnarled branch is near me, its claws a blue shadow.

jeff is looking at me with his golden eyes, as I am cuffing his wolf ear in the snow, thinking I had a universe inside me. there is a chair with a person and black star night blanket. I am a plant growing into a flower.

(I redisigned Juleka's outfit bc aparently I'm redisigning evey single superhero i draw, also I dont like that every single one is just a spandex, so I like to make them look more like clothes)

I'm still not sure witch one I like more, I'm not sure I succede on the "making it look more like clothes than a spandex" thing, but the top (the darker part) is supposed to some sort of jacket thing? and I wanted to incorpore more of Juleka's style into it to the stripes on the legs are more like the ripped pants she uses.

I like a lot how her miraculous looks but its too hard to draw and I didnt have good references for it so I redisigned it a litte, also made both her hands to have black and golden gloves just because

Summary- (Y/N) Is a Matt Murdocks 14 year old daughter who is just entering high school and is really struggling. She doesn't have a regular life having a blind father. He can't help with homework, Can't give her a have a ride to school, He can't see how often her face falls when she lies to him. Of course she has her Uncle Foggy and Aunt Karen but (Y/N) feels like to much of a burden until the one and only Frank Castle comes into her life and seems to be more of a father figure then Matt ever has.

After the call with your friend Jenifer you began getting ready. You put on a short sleeved striped shirt with a cute (F/C) (F/A) on it then you put on some skinny jeans with a matching color. You do your hair up in a messy bun then putting some flip flops and then finally topping it off with some of your favorite jewelry pieces that would look nice with the outfit. You grab your phone off from your bed then look at the full length mirror in your room looking yourself up and down and you may or may not have done a few poses.

"Hey dad!" you shout from your room as you walk out of your room while looking at your phone. "Yeah sweetpea?" he says "looking" up at you. "I'm going to head out now. We are meeting at our street corner then we might walk around a bit." You smile at him as you look only for it to turn into a frown. 'Of course he is working... He never takes breaks.' You think looking down at the computer along with the case files and the translating pad (I don't know what its called) from the computer to his fingertips. "Alright you be safe now okay? Call and update me on where you are and I promise we will go out to eat when you get back." He says as a smile graces his features. "Yeah see you then..." You says quietly as you walk over to the door. "1:30?" You ask. "1:30." He answers back with a firm tone, not to you but seemingly to himself to remember that he needs to be present at that time.

Walking down the stairs of the apartment building you were in you hum to yourself. 'I wonder if Abigail decided to hang out with us. It has been a while since all three of us hung out together.' You thought as your feet carried you to the corner street of where your meet up was scheduled. After a few minutes you hear your name being called. "(Y/N)!" You hear both Jenifer and Abigail call in unison. You wave back and run up to them. "Hey guys! So what’s the plan stan?" You ask. "Well I was thinking we could walk around for a bit." Jenifer says. "Oh! and we can go to that alley way we found a few days ago. You know the ones with all the graffiti?" Abigail adds. "And oh my god I wonder if we will see that hot guy again!" Abigail starts bouncing up and down and grabs both Jenifer and your arm and starts speed walking. "Wasn't he high when we saw him? He has to be high with the type of art work he is making." Jenifer laughs. "Probably but who cares!" Abigail says. "I just want to look at the graffiti." You smile. "Yeah I guess... But if he is there its a big bonus!" Abigail says happily.

After about a 10 minute walk all three of you arrive at the entrance of the alley way which is in between a diner and a small thrift store. There is an array of colors like pink, blue, white, and many more. There is bubble letters that spelled words that you couldn't read. There was the occasional 'I LUV POT' or some peace signs. There was garbage all over the place and two huge green and rusty dumpsters at the end which was also covered in graffiti. Abigail sighs. "Darn he isn't here." She pouts. "Is that the only reason why you wanted to hang out with us?" Jenifer asks in a teasing tone. "N-no! I was just wondering..." Abigail says the pout still present on her lips. "Guys we are only 14 and 15 and we just got into high school. We shouldn't be focused on guys anyway. Now lets look around! The first one to fine a pink shape wins!" You say running down the alley way.

The three of you spend about ten minutes each on finding shapes. All of you have known each other since diapers and this is one of the many games you guys play. "We are such losers for playing these games" Jenifer laughs. "We are the best losers then! No one can compare to us!" You shout then sigh. "Come on I want to go stare at the water and it might take us maybe 20 minutes to get there." You say. "Did any of you bring money? Maybe we can call a cab and make it there in minutes." Jenifer asks. Abigail pats her pockets down. "Nope I'm broke." She says chuckling nervously. "Same here I got nothing." You say shaking your head. "Come on I'm sure your lawyer of a dad has to give you some money! He's a lawyer!" Abigail says. "He is self employed and I don't need money really so I never ask." You shrug. "He already has you doing all the chores in the house pretty much, the least he can do is give you some money." Abigail grumbles. "Hey! I don't do all the chores and my father is a hard working man! If I can help him I will!" You say starting to get irritated. "Doesn't he leave you alone all the time though?" Jenifer asks. "Not all the time!" You let out a slight growl. "When did this become all about me all of the sudden! Can't we just get going!" You say raising your voice. "Alright fine! Jeez we are just worried about you (Y/N)." Jenifer reasons.

"Well lets quit worrying and get going..." You mumble as you walk out of the alley way looking down at the ground only to bump into someone as hot coffee spills onto both of you. The man lets out a grunt and grumbles. "I-I am so sorry sir I didn't mean to spill your coffee!" You look up at the man who has a grey hoodie that is now wet and a dark brown spot that had formed then going up to his face that has an assortment of bruises that he was obviously trying to hide under his cap. "'s fine." He grumbles. "I am so-" You were cut off by Abigail who grabs your wrist and starts tugging on it "(Y/N) lets go! He seems sketchy!" She whispers harshly. "Don't say that! That could make him upset!" You hiss but when you look back he is gone. "Great he is gone! You probably hurt his feelings!" You say. "You need to quit being so naïve! Not every person you bump into on the street will be a nice guy! Listen to your gut feeling!" Abigail says her anger slowly rising. You respond with the same rising anger "My gut feeling said he isn't dangerous! My dad says I have good intuition and can tell if someone is bad or not! He didn't seem bad!" Jenifer intervenes "Okay hey! Calm down this is suppose to be fun... I think you guys need some time away from each other so lets just call it a day alright?" She says and both of you sigh and nod. "I need to change anyway..." You mumble looking down at your now soaked shirt. Jenifer nods. "Do you want us to walk you home?" She asks and you shake your head. "No I'm okay... See you later." you take a few steps backwards then turn on your heels and head back home.

Sirius Black x plus size!reader

Warnings: a toxic relationship history and a bit of insecurity because of it.

A/N: I did a questionnaire a few days ago to see what kind of reader you would like me to do. This is the first one I do base on that questionnaire and I want to say the following:

The only reason the reader is specified as "plus size!reader" is that if there is someone who fits this description, feel comfortable.

You will never see something like "her FAT body" NO, NEVER

Much less that the One shot revolves around their weight (neither nationality, nor gender identity, nor sexuality nor all the things that they put in that questionnaire). I only write about NORMAL people in normal situations. All bodies are beautiful, we are all beautiful.

So, if you are a plus size person, welcome. If you are not, you can also read it without feeling left out in any way.

I really hope that you feel comfortable with everything I write and that you know that I seek to be as inclusive as possible. Without more to say, thanks for taking the time to read my stuff. Tell me your opinion, if you want!💕

You looked in the mirror one last time.

Sirius, the boy of your dreams, had asked you out on a date and you wanted everything to be absolutely perfect.

You had met him because you both lived on the same floor of the condo block and it was inevitable to bump into him from time to time. It wasn't the best place to live, it was small and a little dirty, but it was the only thing you could afford and the fastest you could find after that happened.

You liked the way Sirius smelled because when he crossed the corridors, you could perceive a mixture of leather (you supposed it was due to all the clothes he used of this material) and an elegant cologne that drove you crazy.

At first, it scared you a little to see him with that piercing in his eyebrow and his multiple tattoos, but later you realized that he was really nobody to be afraid of, on the contrary, he turned out to be a very tender and sweet boy.

The first time you spoke to him it was because you were struggling to open your door while carrying boxes and bags that you had brought from the supermarket. The boy noticed you were having trouble and walked up to you to offer his help, so (still a bit wary) you said yes.

Once he held your purchases, you could open the lock, but when you turned around, you noticed that Sirius was secretly looking at the contents of your bags and when he realized that you had caught him, he blushed.

"Sorry I'm a little gossipy," he said shyly "I'm Sirius"

"I thought you were a gossip"

"No, my name is Sirius" he laughed and it was your turn to blush.

"Oh, sorry"

"Okay, anyone can get confused" he murmured with his charming smile, handing you what he was holding in his hands "I live in the 512" he informed you. Of course, you knew he lived in that apartment; you had seen him come into its thousands of times "In case you need anything. You know, some plumbing or things that have to do with tools and that shit of men" he murmured kindly. You frowned a little and then he quickly added "I mean, it's not that girls can't do that and it's okay if you know how to do those things, you seem like a smart and capable person. It's just that sometimes it's tedious and requires strength... and it's not that you don't have strength, I mean...” Sirius couldn't continue because he heard you giggle and then realized he was looking like an idiot “Just call me if you need anything and if you want to do it, yes?” he explained to you and you nodded with a smile.

"Thanks for offering your help Sirius" you replied, looking at him over your bags.

"You’re welcome, miss..."

"Y/N" you completed. He smiled and wrapped a dark curl around his finger that fell unruly from his ponytail.

"I'll see you later then, Y/N. It was nice to greet you" he said by way of farewell and you nodded to respond.

You haven't felt like this with any guy since you met your dear (sarcasm) ex-boyfriend. The insecurities that he had created in you kept you from thinking about having something else later and you honestly didn't feel ready to have your heart broken again.

But Sirius continued to be kind to you. Whenever he looked at you, he made an effort to have a topic of conversation, even if you were not so eloquent, and little by little, he was gaining your trust and your affection. As the weeks went by, you became good friends who chatted in the elevator or occasionally (when you weren't late for work) went downstairs just to share a little more time.

Until one day Sirius showed up at your door with his clothes stained with something that looked like paint, his hair tied up in a messy way and smelling of burned food. He was so beautiful in his own way and you were so afraid of falling in love with him because you knew beforehand that having something else would be impossible.

After all, no boy would ever love you. It was something that your ex-boyfriend had commissioned to get very well into your head.

"Go out?" you asked a little confused after he asked you. You didn't want to misunderstand things.

"Yes! We could go wherever you want. For ice cream, to dinner, to a park, to the cinema... I don't know, wherever you can think of”

"Why?" was the first thing that occurred to you to ask. Now it was Sirius' turn to look confused.

"Well, I thought it would be an opportunity to meet and... spend more time together" he explained and although you had understood the idea it seemed impossible to think that the boy had any kind of interest in you "But it's fine if you don't want to, I don't pretend be upset"

"I'd love to," you rushed to say, fearful that the opportunity would slip through your grasp. You saw him smile and after exchanging a few more words he left with a smile that you couldn't see, but that was pure joy.

Finally, the day of "go out" arrived and you were about to tell him that you could not go. You were nervous, more than nervous you were anxious about what could happen or what he could say about you.

You had searched your entire wardrobe for something decent to wear and after pulling and removing and taking out the clothes and trying them on, none of them convinced you. You looked in the mirror and didn't feel like it was enough of an outfit to date a man as handsome as him. In the first place, you did not even know why he had chosen to go out with you, because, although you considered yourself a nice person, you could not boast of being the most interesting.

Don't think about it, don't think about it, you kept repeating yourself as you continued to get ready and looked at the wall clock waiting for the time for Sirius to knock on your apartment.

Once you were with your outfit ready, you looked yourself up and down and although he did not completely convince you, you decided to tell yourself that you looked beautiful. Still a little nervous you looked at the makeup bag that was under some things on your dressing table. You hadn't put on makeup for years, because you were still scared to hear the comments in your head with that horrible voice.

You look like a whore.

You shook your head to ward off all the negativity and taking a breath you plucked up the courage to open the zippers and remove the beautiful makeup that you had abandoned. When you were finishing and without giving a chance to regret there was a knock on the door that took you by surprise. You went out and found Sirius wearing a striped t-shirt and ripped jeans that reminded you of that blond singer... Kurt was his name?

"Wow" you heard him say and he caught you staring at him adoringly. But you noticed that he looked at you the same "You are beautiful" he said with a smile. You frowned, again a little afraid that he was lying, but you tried again to push away those ideas of self-sabotage and smiled widely.

"I'm glad you like it. You look very handsome, you look like...”

"A rock star? I know” he said winking at you and managing to make you laugh “It's a joke, thanks for the compliment, sweetie” he replied, with his pretty smile of sealed lips. Just when you were smiling at him you watched him pay special attention to your makeup and put on a face that completely terrified you, taking all your confidence.

"Something wrong?"

"Your makeup" he pronounced. You felt your heart squeeze a little.

"You do not like? I can go take it off if you find it ugly or something like that…”

"Ugly?" he asked offended "No! It’s beautiful, but I feel like it lacks a touch. You know, the cherry on the cake that stands out in your eyes” he explained. You looked at him confused for the third time and he snapped his fingers as if the answer had suddenly come to his head "Eyeliner"

"Eyeliner?"

"Of course! Don't you like to use it? " he said kindly, turning his head to the side. You denied.

"I never learned how to do it" you lied. There was a bit of truth to it, but it also had a lot to do with the fact that he kept repeating that you looked vulgar with the eyeliner.

“I'm good at it! Come with me,” he murmured. He took your hand carefully and dragged you gently through the hall until they reached his apartment. You were a nervous wreck when he invited you to join him. "Sorry about the mess, I'm really the most distracted person on the planet and I forget to arrange things," he said with an embarrassed smile. You looked at some vinyl lying around, clothes, food packages, paintings, a guitar. There was a certain peace and beauty within all that mess, completely reflecting the boy who was desperately searching for his favorite eyeliner.

"Come," he asked once he left his room. You sat in a red leather chair he had and he leaned in your direction, very close to your face "Raise your head and look slightly down" he asked you and you listened. He took you by the chin with one hand and you saw him stick his tongue out just a little bit (as a sign of his concentration) while drawing on your eyelids. When he indicated that he had finished you saw him smile from ear to ear, which you imitated when he saw yourself in a mirror.

"Wow..." you whispered. Years ago, you loved putting on makeup and especially eyeliner, so seeing you again like that you were surprised. Besides, he was right, his hand was excellent at it.

"Now it's perfect, right?" he said excitedly. Perfect, that's how Sirius described what was in front of his eyes.

"Yeah... it looks much better" you admitted shyly. You couldn't believe that Sirius could make you feel so comfortable and calm, as well as help you maintain your confidence in yourself.

"I just hope I don't meet jealous guys for not having someone so pretty accompanying them," he said flirtatiously, making you laugh because of your nerves and making you blush "Shall we go?" he asked smiling and extending a hand to help you up.

You looked at him, still amazed to have found someone like that in your life, and took his hand with a smile.

Who would say that sometimes love stories begin like this?

MJ & KAVIN ASKING THE IMPORTANT QUESTIONS: EP 6 AKA DETAILED ACCOUNT OF MY MENTAL BREAKDOWN

TIME TO WEEP IN ALL CAPS

OK sluts, mommy is back and by this I mean myself the adoptive mom (paper work pending) of Thyme and also his biological mom. One of us is not 🌚 evil.

Below I shall cry in words about the latest HOT mess that is episode 6. (SPOILERS)

In no particular order. It will most likely just be me screaming in italics AND ALL CAPS while listening to wrecking ball on repeat.

I am mentally ill, yes, why do you ask?

OK. I’m glad we got this out of our system. I sort of like to start at the end, with your permission. In fact even without it. But oblige me.

So, the scene is the end 5/5 and Kaning, MJ and Thyme are playing basketball (OMG ARE THE RUMOURs CORRECT IS GORYA ON ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP AND WIL THEY HAVE BASKETBALL MATCH BECAUSE ALHLKDASHJD).

LOOK AT THE PUPPIEST????™️

Thyme is wearing what appears to be tiger stripes. Before you say ‘NOT again’ I will bite you.

I NEED TO MAKE A QUICK DIVERSION...

I actually am crying because he wore that soft sky blue cloud hoodie and it utterly broke my heart. Why? Ha. WAIT_FOR_IT.

ALSO MJ AND KAVIN CHEST ALERT (*passes out*)

Do you all understand what I said is right about him wearing these clothes as armour???

I told you a few times, that he literally wears the tiger print as a way to gear up for a fight, he even said it himself when talking to Ren about his date outfit.

Apologise to me and Thyme now.

Thyme runs after Gorya at the end of ep 6 5/5.

You all know in your heart that he will witness the world’s most heartbreaking moment. I know it. I still watch like maybe it won't happen. Maybe he will catch up with her and explain...

Fxck.

The conversation between Ren and Gorya was extremely powerful. Shame I didn't have a hankie handy, innit Gorya? We could have really used one. 🤧

Damage was executed in🔥 perfection.

What I wanted to point out though, was that when Gorya broke down into Ren’s arms has it ever struck you that it’s incredibly strange to feel so much empathy for him and cry this hard?

My initial response when I watched the other versions was: she really loves him, this is how I cried when my partner told me something sad about their past.

HOWEVER.

I’ve been thinking.

She is not crying JUST for Ren.

Bare with me.

When she tells him, just because you are not loved by the person whom you love, doesn’t make you worthless---isn’t she actually talking about herself?

And Thyme? And everyone in that fxcked up hexagon...

Aren't those pent up emotions due to the fact that she can see herself in Ren, she identifies with him and sees also the pain in herself and in Thyme for not reciprocating each other's feelings?

It’s one big mess.

What hurts me the most about this?

When Thyme stood with Gorya in the yard after he picked up that stupid hankie he said: I can see how people fall in love with Ren.

Never mind Thyme, mommy loves you you just wait for the adoption to go thru.

He was implying that nobody loves him.

Because Ren is that kind of fake friend.

He will destroy your only budding relationship because he is sad about being rejected so he claws onto the girl who sees the world with innocence and sincerity, has guts to fight for what she wants. She is open, frank, wears her heart on her sleeve. She is LOT like Thyme actually. She is brave tiger. RAWR.

What Gorya is REN IS NOT.

He is so fake, because he is everyone’s friend and thus nobody’s.

So here we have Thyme thinking, let me be the first one to apologise, he told Gorya he will do his best for her.

HE WILL WAIT for her to feel the same way before he asks her again (to date him).

MY GOD?! do you see me doing squats and cartwheels in my rocking chair because alkhdasjklhjashdj????

NOW WAIT.

Remember when Hana showed up and Thyme was all starved for love??

Did he go for it?

NO.

That’s the difference between fuckboi Ren and Thyme.

Ren literally uses Gorya to save himself from heartbreak.

Gross.

SO when she breaks down, it’s all the pent up stress of being bullied, violated emotionally, physically and all her boundaries have been pushed by Thyme to the point, where she even tries to walk the fine line of two friends in the same group being interested in her, she is battling with the pressures of having two guys express interest, but it’s also the all the horrible stuff that’s happened to her since she waged a war on Thyme.

It’s like a cry to the universe.

IT’S HER CRYING WHEN HE SAID: WE WERE FROM DIFFERENT WORLDS. SHE IS NOT STUPID. SHE KNOWS HER RELATIONSHIP WITH EITHER OF THEM IS DOOMED.

It’s not just about Ren and his own aching heart. ITS ALL OF IT.

*POINTS TO THE MESS*

Sigh.

I felt the earth shattering sobs, tied up with gratitude to Ren who was the first one to show her mercy.

Unfortunately he will be the one to destroy her sanity pretty much from then onwards.

Ren wants what Thyme has.

This is personal.

Change is dangerous.

His trembling hands...

Sealed her fate....

They’ll all have to pay the price now...

Date night with Peter Parker

Sorry this is kinda long i just wanted to make sure It was good.😁😁🥺

These are the outfits for below😁 you can also change it if you want.

Its been a six months since you and peter made it official. Peter wanted to do something special for your anniversary. He's taking you to the carnival its the best of both worlds Peter says" babe it has fried everything and I can win you a gaint stuffed animal!" Peter said excitedly. "We can go tomorrow, I'll pick you up at eight i have to go, gotta catch the bad guys" Peter hung up and you put your phone down and fist bumped the air you've always wanted someone to win you a jumbo stuffed animal and you can't wait to beat peter at all the carnival games. You took a quick shower and went to bed.

The next day

The time is currently 6 pm and you are in the mist of picking out an outfit for your carnival date in 2 hours. Your looking for something that will complement your beautiful mixed skin but also show off your fabulous curves. Your opinions are( the two outfits at the top) you go with the white shorts with black stripes and a matching top, since its mostly likely gonna get hot. You take a shower get all fancy shamcy put on your outfit and currently checking yourself out in the mirror.( you look stunning) You hear a knock at your door and it Peter. "Wow you look, You look beautiful" Peter says with a stutter. "Thank you, same too you, i mean you look handsome" you said nervously. You grab your purse and head out while locking the door behind you.

You and peter decided to walk to the carnival since it wasnt that far of a walk. It was a nice walk, the cool bree washed over your face and the sunset made you look like a literal goddess. While you were walking you looked at peter and he was starting at you" do i have something on my face" you said while wiping your cheek. Peter held both of your hands and looked you in your eyes. You look so magical right now i dont even know how to describe it besides the word goddess and trust me i have met a god." Peter said with a soft smile. You could tell he means every word he has the this look in eyes. It just shows you how much he cares for you.

You make it to the carnival and immediately peter sees fried oreos and grabs your hand and pulls you to the stand" can we get two red velvet oreos please." " This taste amazing" you say while smiling. After you too head towards all the games. You beat Peter 4 to 3 in the basketball ball game. Now you and Peter spend the next couple hours playing games like : Balloon pop, bobbing for apples, gone fishing and water balloon pop. For the last game peter was determined to win you a gaint stuffed animal. Unfortunately the final game was ring toss. Peter was done to the final two rings all he had to do is to get one of them on a bottle and he can get the gaint dino you been looking at all day. He tossed the first one it was close but it hit and slid down onto the floor. Its down to the final ring he tosses and it lands directly on the bottle." Yes I got it and i get the Dinosaur please" Peter shouts and hugs you. The man at the ring toss stand takes down the gaint dinosaur and gives it to you." Thank you how did you know in wanted the dino" you say as peter gives the dinosaur." "You been glacing at it all day And I just wanted to make this day special for you like it is for me because I love you and I've waited months to tell you this." "Peter I don't know what to say" you said while tears ghosted your waterline. " I love you too peter and any day i spend with you is a special day." Peter hugs you and you two walk back to your house. At the door step you unlock the door but don't go in yet. "Thank you for tonight Peter, I had a blast" you say after you kiss him on his cheek. " Me too I cant wait to do this again maybe next time we can go to an arcade!" Peter says with joy. He wishes you good night and goes home.

508 Costume meta

I was so pleased to see some of my theories continuing to play out in this episode and I promise a more in-depth analysis is coming soon for all of them- its just taking an age for me to fully costume plot each character!🤓

Most of this episode is spent in uniform by the firefam, so there isn’t much to analyse there (which ngl makes my life a whole lot easier🤣) This meta got super super long, I’m beginning to think i’m incapable of keeping stuff brief (I blame the ADHD for making me verbose) so I’m going to strip it back and just handpick the most important ones to focus on, along with a bit more theory where I think it’s important! Again and as always I’m sorry for the terrible screen shots!!

we open with Michael and David having a conversation about Haiti, David is in a check pattern shirt while Michael is in a maroon t-shirt and blue zip up hoodie with grey lining. not a huge amount to say here other than, Michael being in 3 colours on his top half is a sort of representation of his internal battle - he has several thoughts running through his mind about the bomb that’s just been dropped on him, but its important to note the blocks of colour, because his confusion is like when i’ve talked about patterned fabrics in previous posts, he’s putting the pieces together and realising what he wants - David and to spend the rest of his life with him!

We move to a Grant-Nash family scene where Bobby is in a white shirt, Harry in a pale blue long sleeve tee, Athena in dark grey, Michael in a light grey cardigan and a black tee and May in Coral pink, which is a colour way which seems to be becoming a theme for her this season.

Michael’s grey cardigan hold true to my theory of the use of grey being a colour to direct away from the wearer - they are no the focus of the scene, and Michael in’t the focus here. yes he says he’s going to propose to David, but the scene is really about his families reactions to his announcement.

Athena is less than enthusiastic and the dark grey is a testament to this, but again in all actuality this is not about her - it is about the children’s reaction to the proposal - as it should be. I love the fact that Mays coral pink reflects her youthful enthusiasm and acceptance, however it is not a ‘girly’ sugar pink, it is a more mature and grown up shade of pink and this completely speaks of her growing maturity and confidence as a young woman (she is really coming into her own and its wonderful to watch). Meanwhile Harry’s baby blue tee is a nod to his line about 3 dads - I spoke about red and blue being representative of mothers and fathers in a previous post - Harry is as ever thinking about what he gains - and the cost implications (fathers day is gonna suck) having 3 fathers will set him apart from his peers (I can totally see him bragging about it at school to his friends), but it is also a little bit of foreshadowing, the blue is a similar shade to Davids surgical scrubs and the baby boy hats we see on the babies at the hospital. I would also like to point out the beautiful symmetry of the fact that Harry is wearing a blue long sleeve tee (with white stripes) when Michael tells the children that he is gay. I have a theory about the children on the show wearing stripes and it being representative of a change in direction for them or a close character which I will explore in depth in a separate post, but needless to say the theory holds up here!

we then have the montage of Michael getting his proposal planning sorted out with the help of his family and we are maintaining colour ways here - Michael in a shade of grey, May in red/pink shades, Harry in blues, but Athena has moved into cream - a big part of her overall colour palette, but all one that shows her patterned ties - confusion (over outfits - why only small amount of pattern!)

I will comment on ‘uniform’ for one thing - in the one hour earlier at the hospital scene because its an interesting piece of foreshadowing. David was wearing a green check shirt for work that day, and the guy he’s wheeling into surgery is in a green spotted hospital gown which has a heck pattern, now ordinarily I wouldn’t mention this because its a hospital gown, but they could’ve picked any colour of gown - we’ve seen them using a variety of coloured gowns, so the choice of green must be deliberate. We know that David is going to be proposed to later on in the episode and we witness the parallel of this husband and wife making a proposal of their own - him asking her to hold onto his ring for him as a symbol of their love and commitment to each other which will be reaffirmed when they reunite post surgery, much in the way David and Michaels love will be when they are reunited post surgery(love me some subtle foreshadowing!)

The green hoodie on Parker. this is an interesting one because its a pretty specific shade of emerald green, and one we’ve seen a couple of times before. (Sorry the screen shots don’t show the colour match very well, but the scene lighting also affects how it looks!) most specifically - the first two outfits we see Christopher in - the sleeves of his t-shirt in S2E2&3 and also S2E4 - the polo shirt he puts on backwards in the Diaz morning routine scenes. We have also seen it on Hen this season - in the previous episode when she was telling Karen about Eva.( if Hen ends up somehow involved with what I describe below I will shriek like a banshee with excitement)

If we focus in on the children though, then it becomes interesting, and possible foreshadowing. Parker is 8 - the same age as Christopher when we meet him. He is the one who is, inadvertently, the cause of the fire (there were some epic failures that were really responsible for the fire, but him bumping into the cart set off the chain of events and I feel that this is an important thing to note around the possible foreshadowing - because it could imply that Christopher is going to inadvertently set off a chain of events that wind up with him in some sort of trouble later in the season, possibly involving another child (don’t hate me, but maybe Jee-Yun) because they took the time to emphasise Parker being encouraged to love and protect his baby sister. of course all of this is complete conjecture at this point, but I thought it was interesting to bring up none the less!

Remember what I said about red being representative of motherhood - well Claudette is in a very red outfit and she has an uncharacteristic breakdown when she thinks she’s lost Parker and his sister (her jacket is also check patterned which, again, fits with my check pattern theory coming soon!) for me this is hinting at a backstory around her possibly having lost a child of her own, or perhaps around a call where she lost a child because she failed to do something (this may in part explain why she’s been a bully towards May, especially around sticking to protocol and her jumping into her calls before seeing if May could handle it - not condoning her behaviour - I don’t like her and bullying is never acceptable or ok, especially from an older woman who should know better towards a young woman.)

Athena on scene at the fire - she’s not at work - she’s in civies and its interesting that, for her they’re fairly feminine, I don’t mean in a ‘girly’ way at all and I’m not implying that she’s not feminine in general because we’ve seen it in previous seasons, but this is probably the most feminine we’ve seen her this season, the coat is relatively dressy - its a coat dress, and its also got tied fluted sleeves. to me it seems to be symbolising Athena becoming more herself - healing from the Jeffery case and also possibly away from her cop persona. Its going to be really interesting to see if we start to see some development around her moving away from being a cop and finding a new role/ career for herself by the end of the season.

Then we have the final Grant Nash scene to close out the episode and you know what it filled my heart with joy because there were so many awesome costuming things going on. Athena - in colour again - and yellow to boot!! Athenas colour palette is generally on the more muted side - browns, creams, kaki’s, blacks and greys with the occasional colour thrown in (such as wearing red at various times), so to see her in yellow was amazing (and Angela looks incredible in that shade of yellow!) I’ve said in previous posts that yellow is a colour of communication and my theory held up here - Athena communicated - not only with words, but also physically, therapy really looks good on her!

the other thing of note from this scene is that Bobby, May and Harry are all in the same colour ways as in the scene at the beginning of the episode - reaffirming the thoughts and feelings expressed from those scenes. that David is in a brown/cream striped jumper is also nice - because it continues to fit with my theory about stripes representing new paths for a character to choose to take.
