the nanny part 3 | hangman x reader (saturn)
Tumblr media
note: finally a longer one? ish? it took a minute to write because i had a headache every day for the last week and then i had a take home organic chemistry exam that i needed to get done (gotta maintain that 4.0, school is important kids!)
warnings: swearing, very light angst, jake is pinning, saturn is in a relationship. lowkey jake is a simp.
i don't think that this is a warning but i've not explicitly said this either, but any female character i write is bisexual. of that isn't your cup of tea, i'm sorry.

------------
Jake was a mess.
For no reason, honestly. He had typed out, deleted, retyped, deleted again, and then said said fuck it and opened up his notes app to try and type a message out to you about this weekend. All this weekend is, really, is a friendly chat between a dad looking for someone to help him out with his infant daughter that he didn’t know existed a month ago, and Penny Benjamin’s solid 10 niece that gave him a half mast when she was holding his daughter, for no reason.
And when you called him Dad-man? His heart stopped. He thought about it all night.
By the time Friday night had rolled around he still hadn’t texted you in regards to going out tomorrow, so when he got a text message from you, he was a little confused, he hadn’t given you his number… had he?
Hey dad-man! Rooster gave me your number since I hadn’t heard from you all week. Are we still on for tomorrow? I know that Avery is a little young but the San Diego Zoo is doing a little arts and crafts thing with the animals tomorrow we could check out? My treat? you had sent along with a link to the event and he smiles as he types out his message to you.
Hey! You know I honestly had like, 30 different messages typed out to send you but they were all ass ideas compared to yours. I’m sure Avery would love it even if she doesn’t understand what’s going on, lol maybe we could grab coffee or something from a cafe afterwards?
It’s a date, dad-man ;) you send back after a few minutes, which is quickly followed by: pick me up at 9?
It’s a date, darlin he sends and then groans into his hands “darlin? Seriously? She’s going to nanny your fucking get, get a grip Seresin.” he sets an alarm for 7 am, not like he needs it though. Avery is awake and hungry by 6:45 then out for a nap by 8:30.
He’s asleep just after 2 and at 6:45 on the dot he can hear Avery stirring through the baby monitor on his nightstand. He’s quick to stand up before her wails get any louder, changes her from any accident she could have had in her sleep and then heads downstairs to make her a bottle. While he’s feeding her, he has coffee brewing for himself so he isn’t a complete zombie when he sees you in a few hours. He gets Avery dressed and her diaper bag packed before he’s setting her in her bouncer in the bathroom so he can take a quick shower without leaving her unsupervised -- she has the time of her life listening to him sing.
It’s 8:45 by the time he’s finally leaving. Avery forgoing her morning nap and choosing to fight him instead when he was trying to get her dressed, and then puking on his one clean shirt that he had that wasn’t his service khakis or a graphic t-shirt set him behind his schedule. He quickly found a shirt that he turned into a tank top, groaning at how he looked like a gym douchebag
You were waiting on the steps of Penny’s house for him nearly 15 minutes past 9 for him, and boy were you a sight to see. He definitely regretted his choice of a dingey old Navy shirt but that was his own fault for putting off his laundry and choosing to favor doing Avery’s instead. You were wearing jean shorts you obviously cut yourself, sinfully short but also modest at the same time. The shorts were paired with a pair of tennis shoes and a plain white tank top and a… fanny pack?
You hopped into his truck with a “you’re late” but he just laughs and points to the fanny pack.
“The 90s called, they want their stuff back.”
“Hey, don’t shit on the 90s. Plus fanny packs are back in. It’s so much more convenient than carrying a purse or other bag around, they’re less likely to be stolen, and both my hands are free.” you say and do a little jazz fingers motion and he just smiles and shakes his head. You put your seatbelt on and he’s pulling out away from the curb.
“Besides, you can’t shit on what I’m wearing, when you’re wearing that.”
“Hey, be nice to me. Av puked on the shirt I was going to wear and I hadn’t had the chance to wash my clothes yet.”
“Well, let’s skip the zoo. Avery won’t know the difference, we’ll go back to your place and I can help you clean up.” you suggest and he shakes his head.
“My laundry is not your responsibility. We’re going to the zoo.” he says in his dad voice and you just laugh.
“Whatever you say, dad-man.” you kick your feet up against his dash and if you were anyone else, he’d be telling you to get them off the dash.
The drive to the zoo goes by quickly and despite you calling dibs on paying the entrance fee, Jake is slapping his card down faster than you can even open your fanny pack. You shoot him a glare and he gives you a smirk that sends most girls falling to their knees. Keyword, most.
Jake pushes Avery’s stroller through the zoo while you walk beside him, making light conversation and getting to know each other as you make your way to where the kids' activities are located.
You learn that he comes from an abusive home. His dad was an alcoholic who passed from liver failure not that long ago, flooding the family with relief. He has three sisters, plenty of nieces and nephews. You learned grew up on a ranch which explains how his legs bow out the smallest amount, his favorite color is green (of course), his favorite tv show, food, even the book he read recently. You told him about your life too, growing up in eastern Tennessee, your parents' accident, living with Penny and helping her raise Amelia to the teen she is today, your time in Vermont, why you picked education to go into. Jake easily saw you as someone that he wanted to spend more time with, it was a no brainer that you would be the one watching his daughter when he needed it. Hell, he could even see Avery calling you mom one day, in the distant future of course.
You three had finally made it to the area of the zoo where the activities were being held and you take Avery out of her stroller and sit with her in your lap while Jake sits next to you. The warmth of your skin against his making him hotter than the San Diego sun.
For the next hour you two sit, comfortable with each other while Avery mashes paint around the ziplock bag she was working on. Thankfully for the sun it dried quickly and you drew out a few animals on the rainbow colors covering the page.
At only 4 months old, Jake is in such awe at how you talk to and how you treat Avery and even at how Avery responds to you. The babble that you do back to Avery, how sweet you talk to her, how she reaches for you, all of it. Just melts Jake.
The time to walk back to the truck wasn’t long enough, in his opinion, and he was already planning a trip back when she was a little older and would appreciate it a little bit more.
You put Avery in her carseat while Jake breaks down her stroller and puts it into the bed of his truck before shutting the lift gate. “Still up for coffee?” he asks just as you’re shutting the back door.
“If you are.” you say and give him a smile, he opens your door for you and offers you a hand and you just laugh and take it before hopping up into the cab and once you’re settled he shuts the door and walks around to his own side.
The drive to the local coffee shop he had in mind was surprisingly quick to get to, granted he did speed a little through some yellow lights to get there.
You don’t bother getting Avery’s stroller out, choosing instead to just undo her car seat and carry her in that way since she was sleeping peacefully already. You tell Jake your order and he stands in line while you go and pick out a table, a little table in the corner and you set Avery’s carrier the table after making sure that it was sturdy enough that you didn’t need to worry about bumping the table and having her shift too much.
Jake comes and takes a seat since it’ll take a minute for the food to be prepared. “They didn’t have hazelnut, is caramel okay?” he asks since you had asked for a hazelnut latte.
“Caramel is perfect, actually. It’s my favorite flavor.”
“I’ll keep that in mind.” he says with a smile and leans forward on the table and you give him a kind smile back.
“So dad-man. Think I’m fit enough to watch Avery for you?” you ask and he chuckles.
“I think you’re qualified to do more than that, but yeah. She loves you, I love you-oh I uh-” his ears redden and you laugh.
“No I get it, don’t worry.” you say as his name is being called for the food and drinks. You watch him walk away, shamelessly checking him out as he goes, you bite your lip softly but look away quickly when he turns around to walk back.
“One chicken salad on a croissant with blueberry applesauce and an iced caramel latte with oat milk for Saturn,” he says, setting your tray down and you laugh and he sets his down before pulling his chair out. “And one of the exact same thing for me.”
“Real original dad-man.” you say as you take a sip of the latte and you moan, “this is so good.”
His breath hitches when he hears the sound and he shakes it off with a laugh, “yeah, the coffee here is the best I’ve had in the area. It’s nice that it isn’t too far from base or from home either.”
“Might just have to go a little out of my way in the morning to come here.” you say and he laughs.
“So, how did you get the nickname Saturn?” he asks as he takes a bite of his sandwich and a sad smile forms on your face.
“I got it from my dad. I don’t know why I took such a liking to the planet, but I grew up loving space. I wanted to be an astronaut, actually. He took me to our local planetarium and it was the first planet that I actually saw in the telescope and there was just something about the rings that really drew five year old me in. I wanted saturn everything. I even went as the planet for Halloween one year.” you say and he laughs.
“What were you just a yellow ball with circles around you?” he asks and you nod.
“Yeah pretty much, let me see if I have a picture.” you pull out your phone and he glances at your lock screen and sees it’s you and another girl kissing with fireworks in the background. He quickly looks away as you get into your phone, feeling an unnecessary stab to his heart. “Here it is!” you say and show him little you with a little bucket of candy, the biggest grin on your face and he laughs and takes your phone so he can look at it closer.
“You were adorable, what happened?” he teases and you make an offended noise and snatch your phone back.
“I’m still adorable! I’m just… grown now.” you say and he laughs.
You both sit there for a while longer, Jake running out to get stuff for a bottle before coming back in to see you already holding her and waiting for him to return. “You want me to feed her?” he asks and you shake your head.
“Nope. I got her.” you saw and take the bottle, she latches quickly to it and starts drinking away. “When you have me around you are doing nothing. Just relax, daddy. Let someone else take care of her.”
He feels relief at that statement, but also useless since all he’s done for the past almost month is take care of this little human that he helped to create. But watching you take care of her, so effortlessly, was so easy for him. He didn’t expect to be able to relinquish control of this aspect of his life so easily, and yet, it was almost second nature to him.
“So, are you able to start watching her on Monday? I return to duty then and-”
“Jake, it’s fine. I do nothing all day aside from helping out Penny at the bar. I would be more than happy to come and spend all day with this little baby.” you say, looking down at Avery with a smile on your face.
“I’m not, stealing you away from anyone am I? Boyfriend.. Girlfriend?” he fishes and you laugh.
“My girlfriend lives back in Vermont. She doesn’t have any plans to come visit any time soon so as of right now, the only person you and Avery are stealing time from is myself. But there’s nothing I can’t do with her that I couldn’t do by myself.” you say and he nods.
“How long have you two been together?”
“Just over two years. We celebrated our anniversary just before I moved out here.” you say, looking back up at him and you see the look change in his eyes and you offer him a small smile.
“What about you? Any girlfriend that’s going to come out of the frameworks?” you tease and he shakes his head.
“Nah, not really looking to date now that I have this little one to be thinking about.” he says and you nod, the conversation ending there.
After Avery is done with her bottle you burp her and lay her back in her car seat. It’s nearing 3pm already and you have to get to the bar soon for your shift. Jake carries Avery back to the car while you run into the bathroom, splashing cool water on your face.
You knew things were rocky with your girlfriend back home, and the last thing you ever wanted to do was get involved with your new boss, even if he was one of the most genuine and kind men you’ve ever met.
You make your way to Jake’s truck and he’s waiting for you outside, windows already rolled down so the back door can be shut and Avery won’t bake in the Californian sun. He opens your door for you again and you smile and climb up in the truck.
It’s a short drive to the bar and you hesitate getting out, you look back at him with your lip already between your teeth and you smile. “Thank you, Jake. I had a really great time.”
He returns your smile with a nod, “so did I. And I’m sure that Avery did too.” you laugh and look back at her.
“You’ll have to text me your address before Monday.” you remind him and he nods.
“I will.”
“Alright, well. Enjoy your night, dad-man.” you say, jumping out of his truck and he watches you walk into the bar, leaning his head back against his seat and letting out a deep sigh.
Of course you’re in a relationship.

im looking back through your page bc i do rlly adore your art and i just wanted to mention how cool tamsin and namiko (i think those are their names!) are!!! im super curious abt them, so anything you'd wanna say abt them I'd love to hear!
Thank you!! I'm glad someone asked because I am always in the mood to infodump about my ocs. Fair warning, this may get long as I have a tendency to ramble when I'm passionate about something-
You were correct about their names. Namiko and Tamsin are both what I call "cave elves" which are essentially elves who have adapted over time to life in a dark environment, hence why they look like toothpaste incarnates. I intend to actually flesh out the species more later on as it's a little hard to explain when I don't know myself what the species consists of.
Namiko (she/her) is my main oc (hence the pfp) and I initially created her because my teacher assigned a character design projects for my art foundations class in 2022. This was my first drawing of her, actually:
Tumblr media
Namiko doesn't have as much substance as other characters of mine but I do enjoy drawing her often because I imagine she has a very snarky personality and is a bit of a prank-fanatic. She's also the closest I have to a persona since I draw her so frequently, so she shares a couple traits of mine (and is most often featured in the obscure meme art I draw.) Small Namiko art dump:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tamsin (she/xir) is more fleshed out than Namiko is. I created her on a whim because a friend of mine asked me what Namiko was and I found myself so tongue-tied that I decided to draw another character of her species in an attempt to find an answer. I made her 7 months after Namiko and she started out a little rough, and I removed eye number 7 later on.
Tumblr media
Tamsin is basically a mom friend. Very considerate and often worries about her friends, albeit being a little basic (she would definitely frequent Starbucks, just look at her). She's got a lot of siblings so I envision xir to unintentionally baby her friends around or take time to explain things thoroughly like she would to a child. She definitely also advocates for being yourself, I can imagine her being reminiscent of a kind old woman who doesn't quite understand peoples' struggles but supports them nonetheless.
As for Namiko and Tamsin's relationship, I'd say they're probably more of the childhood friend type, kind of like a sisterly relationship. They tolerate one another, but they aren't super enthused to hang out as much since they grew apart as they got older. When they do hang out, most of their interactions include Tamsin being extremely anxious and reluctant because Namiko is about to do something stupid without any thought about the consequences. Tamsin art dump (the photo from this point on may be a little older, as I don't draw Tamsin as much):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You didn't ask, but these fools also have two more friends that make up their friend group, Harlow and Vesper.
Harlow (they/them) is often viewed by others as childish due to their whopping height of 4'9", but they are actually decently mature and well-mannered. They adore reptiles, and have a still-unnamed pet snake who means the world to them (despite the fact that Tamsin, their best friend, is a little hesitant to befriend their pet). I have been working on a little project regarding Harlow and a friend of theirs, but I shan't spoil it for now so here's a tiny Harlow-sized dump:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vesper (she/they) is probably the least-drawn and also the least fleshed out of the group, even compared to Namiko. Speaking of Namiko, the two are best friends and share a love for getting on peoples' nerves. Vesper doesn't have much of a filter, though. Namiko is the type to TP your house for the funnies, Vesper is the type to place a thumbtack on your seat for the funnies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some dynamics and side details about the group are all written out in a discord channel so I'll copy paste them:
Vesper and Tamsin are the type to get in arguments. Not very intense arguments, just Tamsin pulling the "Hey, stop that" card whenever Vesper tries something stupid, which is a lot. Tamsin has a few younger siblings, so she has a bit of the mom-friend personality. She's a very sarcastic type when it comes to Vesper.
Vesper and Harlow are basically that "he asked for no pickles" meme. She sees Harlow as a bit of the baby of the group, which causes them a little frustration, but I feel they'd be pretty open to each other. I could see them ranting to one another.
I always imagined Vesper would have a very honest way of speaking. She'd blurt something out and be brutally honest, which doesn't always work to her favor. Also, she definitely put way too much effort into learning how to solve Rubix cubes. I can imagine her being a speed cuber in her free time, but she keeps it to herself mostly. Tamsin would act like the teacher that makes kids say bye to inanimate objects and it pisses everyone off.
Tamsin tries to make baked goods like a kind grandma but none of xir friends have the heart to tell xir that they taste like dirt. Tamsin is also constantly on the verge of rage and hates taking care of kids but puts on a front because little kids love xir for some reason.
That's all, and I'm so so sorry that this post is a behemoth. I went on a tangent and honestly I don't think I even described the characters well, but I'm super honored that you like my art and here's a little doodle to end this ask!

Online for a Long Time
Voice Line 1
Chrome: Please take some rest accordingly too, Commander.
Voice Line 2

Structure Documentation
Document Detail 1
"Commander, I'd like to conduct a meeting right now regarding the mission this time around, however... Is right now a good time for you?" Captain of Strike Hawk. An Armored-type Structure. Although he could use all types of weapons, he prefers to use the scythe. He joined under the Gray Raven for the sake of carrying out the special mission. He always does everything to his optimum abilities, leaving the best results.
Document Detail 2
He is equipped with the Structure-specialized Inverse Device, which allows him to lead Strike Hawk without the need for a human commander. He meticulously prepares numerous emergency plans before the mission starts so that everyone in Strike Hawk would safely return.
Document Detail 3
Because Strike Hawk distributes each member to a scouting team, Chrome has a stable, exclusive communication line. Since it's shared by all of the members, they could easily exchange their location and status with one another with clarity on their voice signal.
Document Detail 4
His original consciousness is "Langston." He originally had aimed to become a commander but had lost his qualifications due to an accident. He voluntarily applied for Structurization and he now serves as the captain of Strike Hawk.
Document Detail 5
He was subjected to the outrage of those around him back when he was newly Structurized. Though Chrome himself admits that someone influential has been supporting him, because of how outstanding his abilities are, those criticisms had died down.
Document Detail 6
"Although I strictly discipline myself both physically and mentally in order to set an example, being able to effectively command this platoon is the most important above anything." Chrome constantly seeks to himself the best standard—he would think of what the highest priority of things around him are and silently solve the problem.
Rumors and Secrets
Secret 1 He is well-versed in every weapon there is.
Secret 2 Whenever everyone in Strike Hawk is on a mission, Chrome's go-to weapon is a scythe—his reason is that it's useful in catching his team members.
Secret 3 He is in charge of regulating and cleaning everything on Strike Hawk's base.
Secret 4 Because he takes every word sincerely, Chrome is gullible.
Secret 5 In order to introduce the latest technology, he installed the prototypes under testing throughout his model.
Secret 6 He has yet to lose against the members of Strike Hawk when they have one-on-one practice training. There, however, was only one time he tied against a male member of the unit.[1]
Secret 7 Whenever practice training starts, although he does contemplate if he should go easy on his opponents, he unconsciously gets serious when sparring begins.
Secret 8 He is busy running around every place, cleaning up the troubles the other members have caused.
Secret 9 He already has his communication device on hand, even if he isn't in transmission with anybody. By doing so, it allows him to coordinate his thoughts and give out directives depending on the situation.
Secret 10 Thinks that personal appearance is as important—more than fixing his own hairstyle, Chrome also focuses on adjusting his own unit member's appearance. He had sewn many pockets on Kamui's clothes, who frequently keeps losing stuff.
Secret 11 To deepen his relationship with his team members, Chrome hosted a slumber party at the suggestion of Wanshi.
Secret 12 He had fixed the Gray Raven's collar out of reflex[2]. After he noticed it was impolite of him, aside from wholeheartedly apologizing, Chrome also prepared an apology gift as well.
The other party in question is assumed to be Wanshi.
This was a call-out to Chrome's affection story, which in turn became a reference used for his first birthday video in the CN servers. You can watch the video here.

The image above: is that CANCEROUS BITCH. Also a CLOWN. My advocate called because that bitch might have sent that notice to maybe some known lawyer of her guy or someone because she herself can’t hire a lawyer for sure. A chick who doesn’t wear her own clothes will hire a lawyer. Lol. Anyway, this lying asshole still lied that she has changed her number 7-8 times due to me and I harass her. Bitch why the fuck did you come to live at the same place, knowingly that I live here since the past 14 years? Bitch my biggest mistake was ever accepting you, you’re a fucking cancer in the form of a living being. Wherever you go, its only nemesis, just like the disease cancer, wherever she goes just destroying lives.  This time my lawyer gave me an option, not to file a complaint because this will be unnecessary, but if still this asshole chick won’t stop lying about me, my lawyer has asked me to visit him and we will file a complaint formally to the SSP of the city. That’s all! And I hacked what? Why didn’t you tell them they are porno channels? Oops. Sorry. No R-Rated stuff on my blog, please.  As I have earlier decided and discussed, but as my attorney called me for this, my ear burst out as if it has HIV, because I again had to listen to her non-sense. My simple argument is, if you have so much of an issue from me, after ghosting me what the fuck are you doing in the same residential complex as mine? I never asked you to, neither do I have ever called you (another lie she said). So fucking delusional is this bitch my god. Bitch get a treatment, you’re sick as hell. You always just think of stories and make em true. And also, stop fucking stalking me using fake ID’s. And INTL numbers on WhatsApp, and sending me sales prospects for different product/services. Bitch I am self sufficient I don’t need people to survive in business, or in life general which you won’t understand because your ill-developed self-esteem is always dependent on someone else.. My life is always fucking awesome without a CANCEROUS being like you. Go destroy yourself, and the people around you so delusional even cocaine psychosis is nothing in front of you. Anyway, let’s cancel this bitch. And talk about ourselves. So my therapist sent me an analysis report on what are the things that I have to work on and how they can be done better. Been working on Dexa, since morning and reading a book on GPT’s use cases. Unfortunately 30 mins of mine got spoiled due to my lawyer calling me to ask regarding this bitch’s delusional stories, and my ears got HIV tested after that. ROFL.  Alright, see ya soon!

STAGES OF PIONEERING WORK IN THE MINISTRY 5
15. "BUT WHEN IT PLEASED GOD, WHO SEPARATED ME FROM MY MOTHER'S WOMB AND CALLED ME THROUGH HIS GRACE,
16. to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood."
Galatians 1:15,16 (NKJV)
Tumblr media
9. "WHO HAS SAVED US AND CALLED US WITH A HOLY CALLING, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began
11. TO WHICH I [Paul] WAS APPOINTED A PREACHER, AN APOSTLE, AND A TEACHER OF THE GENTILES."
2 Timothy 1:9,11 (NKJV)
-> Relating with a minister
• AT this session I want to share about how to relate with a minister of God.
- This message is relevant to both of the people who are in the ministry and those in the secular.
- If God establishes a relationship between you and Him, treasure the relationship, and whatever He instructed you to do, be diligent in doing it, do not do it casually.
- Everyone whom God has establishes a relationship with, such a relationship is covenant based.
- Also the minister whom God has brought on your way at a particular juncture of your Life IS sent to YOU as a prophet AND it is for a purpose.
- If God wanted to answer somebody's prayer, He will send a prophet to him or her (Exodus 3:7-10; 1 Kings 17:8-16).
"By a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet he was preserved."
Hosea 12:13 (NKJV)
• Prophet
- Prophet sent to you may not have the title of a prophet—but to you, he is a prophet.
- A prophet is God’s servant sent to you with a message TO move you forward in your journey in life.
- Some do not have Bible sense, they are lacking in understanding of spiritual THINGS
When such a person Or prophet surfaces in their lives THEY do not recognize it.
• Relationship
- When you meet someone, the person whom God has sent as a prophet to you, the knowing of it would be on the inside of you.
THERE would be signs as regards to it.
SOME notable things, land mark events would take place in your life.
11. "... for in nothing was I behind the most eminent apostles, though I am nothing.
12. TRULY THE SIGNS OF AN APOSTLE WERE ACCOMPLISHED AMONG YOU WITH ALL PERSEVERANCE, in signs and wonders and mighty deeds."
2 Corinthians 12:11,12 (NKJV)
- When such a person comes on your way, you do not treat him with disdain—you treat him or her with honour and respect.
- You should always have it in your mind that even if he is not a prophet to others, but to you, he is a prophet and a father.
"FOR THOUGH YOU MIGHT HAVE TEN THOUSAND INSTRUCTORS IN CHRIST, YET YOU DO NOT HAVE MANY FATHERS; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel."
1 Corinthians 4:15 (NKJV)
- Your word is in the mouth of such a man.
- Your destiny is associated with his Or her.
- His instruction to you is a command.
- If you take his words, obey what he instructed you to do, you get fruitful results, however, if you disobey, you may see the other side.
- Such may not have big name, but he is ordained to bless you.
"For I consider that I am not at all inferior to the most eminent apostles."
2 Corinthians 11:5 (NKJV)
• How to relate
- A number of people have lost their blessings because they do not know how to relate with their prophet or Spiritual parent.
- Treat him with honour and respect. Do not despise him because you are supporting his work, his ministry.
YOU should not attempt to control THEM, Or look down on them.
- Hold your relationship with such in high esteem, do not treat them casually, with disdain.
- Your relationship with him or her will cost you time, money, the sacrifice on your part, and some other things in addition, in order to keep the relationship intact or working.
- If God has used you to meet the needs of your prophet or Spiritual parent, do not look down on them or belittle them because of it.
Your PROPHET does not really need your material things to survive because God who called them can take care of them, but you need the grace THAT such Carry for you to fulfil in whatever God has sent you to do.
"Not that I seek the GIFT, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account."
Philippians 4:17 (NKJV)
11. "Not that I seek in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content:
12. I know how to be abased [live humbly], and I know how to abound [live in prosperity]. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
Philippians 4:11,12,13 (NKJV)
Mechizedek did not really need the tithe that Abraham brought because he was blessed already, but Abraham needs the grace, the blessing, that Mechizedek posseses (Genesis 14:18-20).
4. "Now consider how great this man [Mechizedek] was, to whom even the patriarch Abraham gave a tenth of the spoils [plunder].
7. NOW BEYOND ALL CONTRADICTION THE LESSER IS BLESSED BY THE BETTER."
Hebrews 7:4,7 (NKJV)
• The truth is:
- If you leave the place God wanted you to be, YOU Will go to oblivion.
- For you to remain Relevant, Then you should remain in the place where God has planted you.
THE person whom God has put over you as a delegated authority, prophet or Spiritual parent, IS not your errand boy or girl, even if you are giving them your tithes and seeds.
- For the fact that you are giving material things to them, supporting their WORKS, that does not mean you are mate, and you should not think you can treat them with contempt.
- For the fact that you are more educated, richer, and older than your prophet or Spiritual parent, it does not mean you should flout his Or her order.
NOTE: If you are seventy and Your prophet is thirty-five years of age, he or she is still your Spiritual parent, for spiritual age is higher than biological age.
- For the fact that you are highly placed, riding big cars, living in a palatial home, DOES not mean you should attempt to control, disregard, or ignore them.
AND WHEN such gives instructions to you, the instructions should not be disdained.
• Spiritual principles
- It is lack of understanding of these spiritual principles that made many missed their place and blessings in life.
- Beware of pride in the relationship with your prophet or Spiritual parent.
- Beware of pride, when you begin to rise financially, when your WORK: ministry, business, or whatever is being Blessed by God.
- If your prophet gives you instructions, do not go about and be sampling other people's opinions about it.
SOME after they have sampled other people's opinions, they decided to drop the counsel given to them by their Prophets.
WHY did you go to him for counselings to begin with, when you knew his counsel would not be considered by you?
• Remember
EVERY instruction from him is a command.
• You will not fail in Jesus' name.
Peace!

Diabolik Lovers Tag 2!
Thank you to @vampiretsuki for tagging me!
Rules: Answer the Questions and Tag whomever you want to tag~ I would love to read your answers so tag me (@vampiretsuki) and I will read them~!
1.- Would you rather wear Carla’s Scarf or Shin’s eyepatch?
Carla’s scarf because I tried wearing an eye-patch once for a costume and I only lasted like 10 minutes because it made me feel dizzy XD (how I’m going to manage when I finally get all of my Shin cosplay together, I don’t know).
2.- Which moments has been the most shocking to you? (Game, Manga, CD Drama, Stage Play, Anime)
To be honest I think the fifth track of Shin’s More, More Blood CD shocked me the most because I just really didn’t see it coming >_> I’m not going to spoil it here but yeah... Also I think Kanato’s HDB ending two where Yui murders all of the other Sakamaki brothers is pretty shocking.
3.- Have you had a Diaboy whom you hated (or had very little interest) and now you love him?
While I didn’t hate him, Carla did scare the absolute crap out of me for a while and I didn’t want to be anywhere near him (this is mainly because my introduction to him was the Carla vs Shin Versus II CD in which he straight up impales Shin through the chest then chokes and threatens to kill you within I think about 10 minutes of his introduction...). Once I got to know more about his character, I understood why he is the way he is and realized I could actually relate to him quite a lot and now he’s my second favourite.
4.- Which moments (Game, Manga, etc) has made you laugh the most?
Oh man DL has some great funny moments. I think maybe Shin’s More, More Blood bonus CD featuring Asa the hamster is the one that made me laugh the most though because it’s so funny and cute (I ramble about it in this post).
The drama CD where they search for socks is also very funny.
5.- Which moments has made you cry the most?
I’m more likely to cry because I find something touching than because I’m sad, so I think the scene that made me cry the most is actually the last track in Shin’s BTD CD. It’s just so soft that my heart can’t really handle it...
The scene between Carla and Shin in Shin’s LE vampire ending also gets to me quite a lot.
6.-Which moments has been the scariest for you?
KANATO’S HDB ENDING 3, HOLY CRAP. There are quite a lot of scary moments in DL but there’s something so horrifying to me about the idea of Kanato trapping Yui’s soul in a teddy bear that I can’t even...
Also while it’s not scary I think Subaru’s LE brute ending deserves a mention here because it’s so messed up >_>
7.- Which moments has made you the angriest?
Anytime a character in the games is a dick to Shin. There are three moments that have had me yelling at my console and these are (warning, spoilers ahead):
- Shin’s DF manservant ending when Richter makes Shin kneel at his feet and then what he does afterwards... (I remember very specifically internally willing Shin to spit on Richter’s shoes, I got so mad).
- Carla’s LE ecstasy epilogue when Kino sneaks into Shin’s room with a bunch of the ghouls and attacks him. I was mad at Kino for quite a while over this... (even though I know Shin has done worse so it’s very hypocritical but... eh...).
- When Carla whips Shin in Shin’s CL route. Again, I remember really strongly wishing for the option to get Yui to throw her shoe at Carla because I got so upset (Shin sounded like he was in so much pain >_>).
I also got fairly mad at portrait!Shin in Shin’s Zero CD... so I guess I really do just get mad when characters are mean to my boy X’D
8.- Would you like to be a student at their nocturnal school? Would you stalk/see what the Diaboys are up to? Who? (Only pick 3 diaboys!)
I think going to a nocturnal school would suit me as I’m almost nocturnal as it is when I can get away with it >_> I don’t think I would try to see what the diaboys were up to as I’d be too worried about getting caught and then trying to explain why I was spying on them ^^;;
9.- Have you had any DL Dreams? if so… Tell us your favorite or your most recent~!
I haven’t had any recently but I did have one dream where I got to ride on Shin in his wolf form which was pretty cool ^^
10.- Is there something/habit a diaboy does that bothers/annoys you?
Hmm... I mean I don’t really like it when Ruki calls you/Yui “livestock”. I know that’s his nickname and it’s not like the other guys’ nicknames are nice either but idk, I just don’t like it :/ (I’m also not a fan of “sow” either...).
11.- Is there something/habit a diaboy does that makes your heart flutter/melt?
Nearly everything Shin does? Okay but Shin’s laughter when you tickle him always makes me melt ♡^▽^♡
I’m going to tag @sleeping-platinum, @akumacaron, @bloody-croissant and @dlgenderbend (sorry if any of you have done this already).

Did Kit suddenly lose his ability to heart-eye or is Pol!Jon actually a thing.
I'm late to the fandom but I just finished S7 and I'm having thoughts.
I'm a reader of the books, and I hadn't watched the show till now because... I suck at watching shows with hour long episodes and more than three seasons.
What made me decide to watch it was the Pol!Jon discourse I found on the Internet.
I know enough about the show to understand how unlikely and out of character this theory would seem to show watchers. At the same time, I fully believe that book!Jon would be fully capable of something like this. But also, even though I do ship Jonsa in the books, I can't deny that Jonerys is.....a big deal. Everyone expects it to happen. It's a highly anticipated pairing and....I just couldn't honestly believe Pol!Jon because it is just so against the general expectation.
So I decided to watch the show. And now I've finished season 7 and I am astounded.
Let me preface this by saying that I went into S7 already disliking Jonerys (sue me) but I still fully expected to have some serious doubts about the validity of Jonsa. I fully expected to be at least somewhat convinced of Jonerys. Even hating the idea of Jon and Danaerys together, I still expected more.
There are a number of things I would like to note here.
First, Jonerys is a romance that is told, not shown. Davos talks about Jon watching Dany's "good heart" (hehe) to tell us Jon is attracted to Dany. But then Jon immediately dismisses it- and not in a way that looks like he's deflecting. He's not only dismissing it, he's dismissive of it. His mind is not in the conversation, it is beyond the Wall.
Similarly, Tyrion says (not in those words), "yeah right, and Jon only looks at you longingly coz he wants a military alliance with you". Not sure what I'm supposed to think about that....? First, Jon doesn't look at Dany longingly at all???? Not once. Second, is this line supposed to suggest that Jon is looking at her longingly for a reason that is not desperately wanting a military alliance....? Because we already know that that's exactly what he does want. Wtf do I make of this statement?????
There are other examples, but the point remains. People keep talking about Jon and Dany being into each other, and that is what is supposed to convince us that they are into each other (well yea Dany is) but Jon gives no indication of looking at her longingly, of falling in love with her, of being intrigued by her even. He's a brick wall.
Alright, I'll concede one (1) scene where I saw legitimate attraction on his face for a second- that is the cave scene. Even there tho, it's hard to tell if he's just watching her reaction carefully or if he wants to bang her.
On the other hand, Dany shows that she is into him. Even so, when I say she's into him, I mean she's attracted to him and intrigued by him. I cannot believe she loves him.
Next, I think it's interesting that in the episode before (or was it the same episode?) Jon bends the knee, we have a number of people (Tormund, Beric) talk about stuff like- kings not bending the knee leading to people dying, knowing what's important (the fight against the dead), being the shield that guards the realm of men blah blah I don't remember the exact words. Then he sees the WW and the Army of the Dead (again) and sees a dragon die. And then, the first opportunity he gets, he bends the knee. I want to point out here that the scenes really emphasise on Jon's thinking face after every conversation he has during their little gay party beyond the Wall. They focus on the look on his face again while he's watching the Army. Multiple times. And there's clearly something going on in his head, gears are turning.
One other scene that struck me is the scene where Jon and Dany are saying goodbye to each other (the Eastwatch episode). In the same episode (if I remember correctly) Jon calls them strangers, and then the goodbye scene comes and Dany says to Jon's little morbid joke, "I've grown used to him". Him being Jon. Two things to note here-
One, Jon considers them strangers but Dany has gotten "used to him". Maybe it's nothing, or maybe it's an indication of how the two of them are absolutely not on the same page (about anything).
Second, Jon's face after she says that. It shuts down. Like a door slamming. And then he says that "wish you good fortune in the wars to come" line, which has ZERO romance, or longing, but a whole lot of bad precedent (does that make sense?). Ouch. The thought that occured to me here is that Dany is being somewhat obvious about her feelings, and maybe, just maybe Jon has picked up on it. And that is why he reacts the way he does.
I wasn't sure so I compared the scene with the Jonsa forehead kiss scene in S6, and Jon's expressions after that kiss.
My logic was this- I assume that either Jon has become aware of Dany's feelings in the Eastwatch goodbye scene, or his own feelings for her. One of these assumptions is true. Which one?
If Jon has feelings for Sansa, then his confusion/awareness/discomfort regarding that are seen in that forehead kiss scene. So if Jon has become aware of his feelings for Dany, let's see how these two scenes compare?
My dudes. There is no comparison. Go watch it.
I watched both scenes with sound off, and the difference is insane. Jon looks at Sansa's lips. There's a moment's pause that's full of tension, and then his face shuts in a way, but it's a bit confused, a bit thoughtful.
Jon does not look at Dany's lips. He does not look confused, or thoughtful. This is not a romance.
Side observation- speaking of showing and telling, it's funny how we're shown Jon looking at Sansa's wolf bits, and told that Jon looks at Dany's good heart. Yes I'm talking about boobs but wolf bits and good heart is funnier. We literally see Jon look at the wolf bits twice, talk about it himself, in a completely unnecessary conversation...as opposed to being entirely dismissive of the good heart, even when someone else brings it up.
Back to the main point, one last thing I'd like to talk about is the scene where Jon actually bends the knee (not really). First, there are still no heart-eyes. Definitely not from Jon. Second, it's funny how Jon uses the exact hand-grabbing move that Sansa used on him last season, when she was trying to convince him to do something he didn't particularly wanna do (like he's now trying to do with Dany). This means that
1) he learnt that move from Sansa. He knows how effective it is XD
2) if the Jonerys hand-grab is romance, it stands to reason that the Jonsa hand-grab is romance too. I mean both the grabs are suspiciously similar.
Then, even after Dany "promises" that she'll help the North fight the WW, Jon still bends the knee. I felt both an odd sense of urgency coming from him, and an understandable hesitation. Or maybe that's just me.
Now suddenly, he becomes complimentary of her. But there's something weird about his compliments. They are completely generic. "They'll see you for what you are" and in the later episode, "you're not like the others". Wtf does that MEAN ??
Here's the thing...Jon could have paid Dany a way more specific, genuine sounding compliment after bending the knee (complete with heart eyes). I mean she did just fly over the Wall to rescue him and his men. He could have said more, something meaningful, but he didn't. He bent the knee like a house on fire (that doesn't make sense but you get what I mean I hope) and paid generic compliments. Then he pretended to sleep until she left and then sighed very loudly.
??? Romance??? WHERE????
Then the dragon pit. Heart-eyes still missing.
Then the sex scene. What do I say? Lol.
No really. There are no heart eyes even during the sex scene. Honestly, idk what that face was. Not in love for sure.
Another side note- Arya and Sansa have talks while standing in the same place where the forehead kiss scene happened (wtf do you call that place again, the bridge.??) But no heart eyes. No lingering looks. There is no incestuous gay love between them, I can say for sure. All it does is prop up the odd incestuous vibes of the Jon Sansa scene in that same place.
ANOTHER side note- goddamn but does Sansa talk about Jon a lot.
Edit: I'm sure most of this stuff has already been discussed in other metas. My purpose here is only to put down my first thoughts after watching the season.

My last nerve...
The chatter about no one supporting Jimin’s OST is false. The song is breaking records left and right, SOMEONE is supporting it.
I saw a ton of promotion and positivity happening on Twitter by Army. If you saw a lot of negativity, then you are following the wrong accounts. Can’t help you there. That’s on you.
Tumblr media
The song was not a BigHit product therefore not their responsibility to promote. The entertainment company that produces the television show promoted it. Maybe not like all you suddenly expert public relations and marketing people on social media think it should have been, but they promoted it. The song is not the property of Jimin or Sungwoon. YamYam Entertainment were the executive producers. That means they hired PDogg, Jimin and Sungwoon for the song. Their main interest is promoting their television series. The song was part of that.
Tumblr media
Be mad at Spotify but also be realistic. That app is not very organized. Never has been, so no surprise they were not timely in updating Jimin’s profile, not to mention the confusion to begin with because there are multiple artist accounts called “Jimin”. Was it done on purpose in order to diminish the song’s success? I highly doubt that, this is a billion dollar organization, why would they spend energy on trying to sabatoge one artist’s song? For what reason? Regardless, I don’t care for Spotify, it certainly isn’t the be-all, end-all of streaming services, but I suppose I only feel that way because I use Apple Music.
I understand the importance of song ranking and artist following numbers. The song is doing well, Jimin is doing well. But I understand fans want him to be #1 and his song to smash all records that can’t ever be broken again. I get it!
Tumblr media
However, the story that came to light regarding the unpaid insurance incident definitely was timed to mar the songs release. I tend to ignore sources that are non-official when it comes to serious news.
But K-media sure is something else…this is how it’s gonna be huh? This is just me talking but if this group of 7 humans is generating over $5 BILLION USD to Korea’s gross domestic product I would think y’all would report better about them but that’s just me.
Unfortunately, Twitter played right into it and engaged wholeheartedly. They will never learn that in order to diffuse those sorts of things, you should ignore. They just added fuel to the fire they wanted to put out. And this is why this story is appearing on entertainment news outlets like Billboard News. Y’all made it a big deal. It’s a shame.
And anons here saying words that are not fully informed are just helping a topic stay alive even though it appears to have been resolved as well as perpetuating false information:
1. It’s been resolved (months ago). I already said that.
2. BigHit is aware of the situation, have taken responsibility and I am 100% certain people got fired and others got hired, security protocols have been re-evaluated, so there’s really nothing more to add to the discourse. Talking about just keeps it at the top of everyone’s mind.
3. If it’s a security or legal issue it sure as hell is none of our business. Stay out of it.
4. Whoever was the “whistleblower” did so in order to mar Jimin’s OST release. It all played out exactly as they planned because people thrive on drama and negativity.
And ya know another thing about that? Drama Llamas sometimes don’t even realize they are being a drama llama. They think the entire world is just like them. Because the box they live in is very tiny with high high walls that they can’t see over.
Tumblr media
Learn to keep your mouth shut. I know it’s a challenge for some of you but really you should try harder to be a good human. People chattering about matters that SHOULD BE PRIVATE with all the gatekeeping and screaming about respecting their privacy...STOP TALKING OUT BOTH SIDES OF YOUR FUCKIN MOUTH.
Don’t get me wrong. I understand the outrage. We all love Jimin and want to protect him. We worry about him when we hear this kind of bullshit going on. But to trash his company, his friends, the other BTS members and even Jimin and Sungwoon because you don’t think they’ve done enough to promote the song or protect Jimin in general is wrong. Evil people will succeed in being evil as long as they can figure out a way. THAT’S WHY IT’S IMPORTANT FOR US TO BE GOOD HUMANS!
Tumblr media
Just me posting this is whole rant is wrong but you guys plucked my last nerve on it.
Keep being mad and outraged if you want to but you aren’t helping Jimin or anyone else by doing that. You are just making yourself wallow in negativity and bringing down everyone else.
We have a lot of good fun things to look forward to.  Let’s just move on already.

Delight in Misery (ao3) - part 1, part 2, part 3, part 4, part 5, part 6
- Chapter 7 -
“Why are you covered in feathers?” Jiang Cheng asked, and then immediately afterward added, “On second thought, don’t tell me, I don’t want to know.”
Lan Wangji checked himself over and brushed off the few feathers that had ended up on his shoulder. “Are there any others?” he asked solemnly. “They might be evidence.”
Jiang Cheng’s eye twitched, as Lan Wangji had intended. “I don’t want to know,” he repeated, and Lan Wangji believed it about as much as he’d believed it the first time Jiang Cheng said it – which was to say, not at all. “I don’t want to…okay, fine, tell me.”
“You don’t want to know,” Lan Wangji informed him, and Jiang Cheng looked as though he was considering strangling him. “I will explain later. For the moment, it is best to pretend as if you know nothing.”
“I really don’t know anything,” Jiang Cheng said.
“That will make pretending easier.”
Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes at him, but stopped arguing, and Lan Wangji felt warmth in his belly at the instant capitulation. All of his life experiences had conspired to make Jiang Cheng an untrusting person, suspicious almost to the point of paranoia and constantly afraid of losing everything to the unknown, and yet he chose to trust Lan Wangji without question.
“Is there anything else I should know?” Jiang Cheng asked with one of his friendlier scowls, crossing his arms over his chest. “Or not know, as the case may be?”
Lan Wangji considered for a moment. “Don’t count the number of Jiang sect disciples leaving with you,” he suggested, and Jiang Cheng’s eyebrows shot up. “Consider storming out in a fury the next time someone insults you.”
“You were right,” Jiang Cheng said. “I didn’t want to know.”
Lan Wangji heard footsteps and put his hands behind his back. “Naturally, Sect Leader Jiang is entitled to change his mind. I understand it happens often.”
Jiang Cheng’s eyes narrowed. “You must be struggling with coming out of seclusion, Hanguang-jun,” he remarked. “To come mucking around with the rest of us after spending so long on - avoiding worldly matters, let’s say.”
The sect leaders passing by sped up with expressions suggesting that they were dreadfully curious but did not want to get involved in a repeat of the fight that was rather infamously had throughout the Lotus Pier, with all of the attendant property damage (that they’d paid for later, but still).
Once they’d passed, Lan Wangji gave Jiang Cheng a look that suggested he did not appreciate the joke. Jiang Cheng appeared undeterred.
He also appeared, on closer examination, somewhat tired.
Lan Wangji frowned and stepped closer, lowering his voice. “You have not slept.”
“I’m fine,” Jiang Cheng said, and realized his mistake at once – such excess vehemence meant that he was lying, and badly, too. “It’s your fault, anyway.”
“My fault?”
“Entirely your fault. I can’t eat my lunch without wondering why you’re not plucking away on your guqin the way you normally do at that hour, I can’t finish my paperwork without trying to find you to ask for your views, I can’t sleep without hearing you making noise next door…who made you fit yourself in so well at the Lotus Pier?”
“You,” Lan Wangji said dryly, ignoring the warmth he felt. Surely it was wrong to feel touched when someone’s unhealthy co-dependence with you was mentioned. “When you kidnapped me.”
“It was only technically kidnapping,” Jiang Cheng grumbled. “And only at first, anyway…really, it’s no big deal. Just had a few bad nights.”
Jiang Cheng’s nights fell on a scale between decent, mediocre, bad, and genuinely horrific, and he generally only conceded that something was ‘bad’ when it fell toward the lower end of the scale – when his thoughts kept scattering like a flock of bird being chased off their perch, returning to circle around sore subjects and drill worries into his skull, when there would be blood and bile and panic and his mind would linger on anxieties he had long ago put aside in the light of day.
He hadn’t had one of those in months – and now he had had a few?
“Because I…?”
Jiang Cheng shook his head. “A-Ling had a temper tantrum last week,” he explained, voice low and more than a little helpless. “I think he misses you and A-Yuan, and he’s at the age for pushing his boundaries, too…he told me that his Wei-jiujiu wouldn’t have made him eat his vegetables.”
He would have, of course, Lan Wangji reflected. He remembered how Wei Wuxian had been with A-Yuan, always mercilessly teasing him. Wei Wuxian had a spine when it came to children, one that wouldn’t crack into a thousand pieces at the first sob – that was Jiang Cheng, who was all bluster and bark without the slightest bit of bite.
But that wasn’t the issue, not when Jiang Cheng’s soul was a patchwork of ragged wounds and insecurity, a lifetime of being second-best and second-loved, and on his worst days he would voice doubts that he’d even been esteemed as much as that.
By his father, by his mother, by his sister, by Wei Wuxian himself –
“Maybe he would’ve done better,” Jiang Cheng murmured, his eyes already blank with self-hatred – no doubt this was what had kept him up on those bad nights, the angry whispers of a too-fragile mind that said why did he leave me, why wasn’t I good enough, he said he’d stay by my side and then took the first chance he could to leave me behind, that said it couldn’t have been him that did all those things and betrayed me like that, no, he must have died earlier on and it was my fault for not noticing, that said if it’s all my fault then it all makes sense, it’s always because of me, no one ever stays with me.
That said if it’s my fault then it’ll happen again.
Lan Wangji did not like those nights.
“Mm,” he said mildly. “And then A-Ling would also know how to hide dirty pictures in awkward places.”
Lan Wangji had never been good at comforting people, having always been the one being comforted, and his failure to convey his feelings to Wei Wuxian during his life spoke volumes regarding his ability to communicate – but he knew Jiang Cheng.
After so long living together, he knew him.
(Jiang Cheng wasn’t the only one who had difficulty sleeping without those familiar sounds next door.)
Sure enough, Jiang Cheng choked, his eyes clearing up, and he spent the next few breaths struggling not to burst out laughing. “We’re supposed to be arguing,” he hissed at Lan Wangji, who smirked – from a distance it would certainly look as though they were arguing, Jiang Cheng’s cheeks all red and his shoulders shaking in what a stranger might mistake for rage. “You stone-faced bastard, that’s not funny.”
Lan Wangji disagreed. Jiang Cheng’s reaction was, in fact, extremely funny.
“We will need to diversify our collection of such things,” Lan Wangji said thoughtfully. “Given the inclinations of our future house guest…”
“I am not buying Mo Xuanyu pictures of – ! He can buy it himself if he wants…wait, you’re really planning to have him come with us?”
“He will die if he remains,” Lan Wangji said simply, because it was that simple. Their conversation, however brief, had been extremely informative. “And so he must not remain. We have concocted a plan.”
“We? I wasn’t involved in this.”
“Myself, and Nie Huaisang.”
Lan Wangji was expecting some sort of reaction to that – what, he wasn’t sure, possibly disbelief or ridicule or even panic that they were entrusting themselves to the most useless fop to grace the current generation of cultivators – but instead Jiang Cheng relaxed, looking pleased. “Oh, well, Nie Huaisang,” he said, as if that explained anything at all.
“You trust him?”
Jiang Cheng shrugged. “I don’t not trust him?” he hazarded, and seemed rather helplessly puzzled by his own ease with the situation. “He’s terrible at anything a sect heir ought to be good at, but he’ll come up with the wildest sort of things if it’s nonsense he’s after, and he usually gets his way in the end. He’s a pretty good judge as to how likely his chances at success are, too.”
“He’s smarter than he looks,” Lan Wangji agreed, his voice neutral.
“Don’t tell me you fell for his ‘who, me, a person capable of doing anything, surely not’ act,” Jiang Cheng said, looking vastly amused. Lan Wangji might normally object to such teasing, but if it got Jiang Cheng away from his dangerous self-hatred, he’d take it – even if the idea that Jiang Cheng, master of obliviousness, had correctly judged a person that he himself had misjudged seemed just plain wrong. “He just does that to anyone he thinks might squeal on him to his brother.”
Lan Wangji probably would have, too. Still, he felt that Jiang Cheng should have warned him better.
He glared.
“Second Young Master Lan has no grounds for complaining at his own lack of perception,” Jiang Cheng said, and Lan Wangji noted again the presence of people in their vicinity. “It’s all that navel-gazing you do in the Cloud Recesses, no doubt – should I start to worry about A-Yuan?”
“Lan Yuan,” Lan Wangji said snippily, then added, “Lan Sizhui.”
Jin Rulan, Jiang Cheng mouthed at him, and both of them were forced to briefly avert their faces in sheer amusement. Poor Jin Ling – no one would ever call him by his courtesy name, not if even his two guardians weren’t able to keep a straight face.
(Well, comparatively speaking. Lan Wangji was well aware that his own expression of deep amusement looked, to the uninitiated, exactly like his neutral expression but for a very slight narrowing of the eyes.)
The footsteps passed, and Jiang Cheng relaxed once more. Lan Wangji was pleased to see it, but acknowledged that if they were to keep up the pretense of disliking each other, deplorable political necessity that it was, they would need to do better in the future.
“Today will be a disaster,” Lan Wangji murmured, a warning. “But beneficial in the long run. Do not take what they say to heart.”
He would not have said it if Jiang Cheng was not more fragile than usual. Normally, Jiang Cheng could, after years of practice, let insults flow off his back like water from a duck, unmoving and uncaring – he was a flawed man in many ways, Lan Wangji acknowledged, but he generally only had to make a mistake once to learn from it.
For instance, he would never again allow the poisoned words of others to interfere with those he loved.
Not when he still tormented himself for not having done more for Wei Wuxian, as if there had been more Jiang Cheng could have done without losing everything else he held dear – not even Lan Wangji, who was helplessly and hopelessly in love with Wei Wuxian and couldn’t keep himself from sometimes playing Inquiry in search of him, summoned his ghost into their lives so often as Jiang Cheng did.
“Sometimes I wonder what goes through your head,” Jiang Cheng remarked, glaring at the perceived commentary about his lack of emotional resiliency no matter how accurate. “And then I realize I don’t want to know.”
“Lying is forbidden.”
“I am not a Lan. And, yes, fine, it’s a lie. If I could crack you open and crawl into your head, I probably would, but that doesn’t make you special or anything. I’d do that to most people.”
Lan Wangji believed it – Jiang Cheng was just that insecure.
He didn’t let Jiang Cheng change the subject, though, continuing to stare at him until Jiang Cheng shifted uncomfortably from one foot to the other, rolling his eyes. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll prepare for a calamity and storm out as quickly as possible. What are they possibly going to say about me now?”
They said he was like his father.
It was usually meant as a compliment, but not always. In this case, it was the latter: the implication that Jiang Cheng would, like his father, eventually forget to care for the child he already had when another, better one came along put an especially ugly expression on his face.
As Nie Huaisang had gleefully predicted, Jin Guangshan was enraged to the point of maddening by the prank they had pulled and framed Mo Xuanyu for. Nor could he be blamed, the prank was positive infantile, and highlighted Mo Xuanyu’s relative youth and immaturity, losing his father and sect face in the process. Everyone had wanted to talk about that, about how extremely obvious it was that Mo Xuanyu’s only use was to humiliate the already legitimized Jin Guangyao, but in deference to their host they turned their conversation onto past examples like Jiang Fengmian – and, of course, the more recent example of the ongoing fight between Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji over Lan Sizhui.
Jiang Cheng had had no choice but to ignore it, no matter how his face purpled in rage at the suggestion that he might neglect either Lan Sizhui or Jin Ling in favor of the other.  Still, no one had really questioned it when he left in a huff not long after in response to an extremely unfortunate comment by the ever-feckless Nie Huaisang (of course: Lan Wangji shouldn’t have doubted him) about the ability of young men to handle child-rearing, returning to the Lotus Pier in a fury with a parting shot about how the Lotus Pier, at least, did not follow the Wen sect in encouraging the indoctrination of children – a vicious and unwarrented smear regarding the Lan sect’s lectures that made Lan Qiren almost visibly see red and Lan Xichen frown but which Lan Wangji thought was rather useful to their ultimate goal.
When later it was discovered that Mo Xuanyu had apparently run away – and based on the clues that had been left behind, that he must have pulled off his escape by disguising himself as part of Jiang Cheng’s retinue – Jin Guangshan was so angry that smoke nearly poured out of his ears, to the point that Jin Guangyao hastily came up with some excuse to briefly remove him from the scene.
Nie Huaisang winked at Lan Wangji from behind his fan, looking pleased with himself, and he looked so ridiculous that Lan Wangji had to forcefully remind himself once again of his personal revelation that the second young master of Qinghe Nie was far away from being the useless waste that he presented himself as.
Far more effective a reminder, though, was Jin Guangshan’s announcement later that day that he would indulge Mo Xuanyu’s desire for a little bit of freedom – natural in a boy of that age, he’d chuckled, playing the indulgent father – by requesting that Jiang Cheng keep him for some time at the Lotus Pier to tutor his young cousin Jin Ling in the ways of Lanling Jin.
Just as Nie Huaisang had so enthusiastically and confidently said he would.
“And with Hanguang-jun there to supervise, there will be no question of misconduct,” Chifeng-zun said, nodding in approval at the proposal. “Your son and grandson will benefit twice over! I think our younger generation is stronger for having all gathered together in one place, whether learning at the Cloud Recesses or resisting the oppression of the Wen sect…”
“That requires there to be a younger generation,” someone in the crowd interjected, as they almost always did when someone of their present generation mentioned the next. “Sect Leader Nie, don’t you think it’s time you settled down?”
“Why are you looking to me?” he demanded, looking annoyed. “Zewu-jun is equally unattached, and he ranks first on the list of women’s hearts, doesn’t he?”
“On the list of young masters, of which I no longer count,” Lan Xichen stressed hastily, holding up his hands in a vain attempt to ward off the discussion topic. “At any rate, I’m far too busy to be interested in courting at the moment – anyway, wasn’t Sandu Shengshou trying to set up a match some time back?”
“Didn’t he get blackballed?” Sect Leader Qin, ever Jin Guangshan’s faithful dog, interjected, always on the look-out for a way to denigrate the other Great Sects. “I didn’t even know that was possible –”
“At least he’s demonstrated the ability to care for a child –”
Lan Wangji decided that that was an excellent time to make his escape. This was one situation in which he especially did not want to get held up as a positive comparison.
His uncle went with him.
“Very cleverly done,” Lan Qiren remarked as they strolled into one of the many gardens that peppered Lanling City and Jinlin Tower in particular, and Lan Wangji looked at him sidelong. “Matchmaking and children are the favorite subjects of old men; by the time the noise dies down, Sect Leader Jin’s decision as to his newest son will be considered as settled and unquestionable. It was good of your brother – and Chifeng-zun, of course – to throw themselves on their swords for you.”
Lan Wangji put his hands behind his back, uncomfortable. “I did not ask them to act.”
His uncle said nothing. He didn’t need to – if perhaps Chifeng-zun was somewhat opaque to them both, his sheer straightforwardness ironically enough serving to conceal any subtle thoughts he might have, Lan Xichen was as clear as a calm lake. He had jumped into the conversation at just the right moment, saying words that would only inflame the situation rather than calm it, displaying just enough dismay to be humorous without actually appearing, to those that knew him well, to be surprised at all.
“It was Nie Huaisang’s idea,” Lan Wangji added, and that did get Lan Qiren’s eyebrows to rise up in surprise. Probably wondering, just as Lan Wangji was, when exactly Nie Huaisang had had the opportunity to rope the Venerated Triad into his scheme – as far as Lan Wangji could tell, he hadn’t had any opportunity to speak to them.
Still, however intriguing the speculation was, it wasn’t enough to dissuade his uncle from his target.
“The motivation was yours,” he said, the question implicit.
“Mo Xuanyu requested Jiang Cheng’s assistance,” Lan Wangji explained. “He is – unhappy, in Lanling, and ill-suited to it. Jiang Cheng feared that he might one day bring harm upon himself if he remained.”
His uncle nodded slowly, looking thoughtful. “Having him at the Lotus Pier to teach Jin Ling the ways of Lanling Jin also means that there is no urgent need for Jin Ling to return to Lanling himself. He can remain with Sect Leader Jiang.”
“Yes.”
His uncle huffed out a breath and leaned down to smell one of the flowers. “I will give you some books before you return to the Lotus Pier,” he said. “Mo Xuanyu is already past thirteen; it is not at all the same as dealing with small children. You will need to be prepared.”
Lan Wangji looked at his uncle, a little surprised. He had expected more resistance to this scheming plot, which was not at all in line with Lan sect principles.
“Mo Xuanyu is old enough to make his own decisions,” his uncle said, his eyes still fixed on the flower. “If he cannot happy here, he should go to where he can be.”
Lan Wangji’s heart trembled within his chest. He’d thought – his uncle, who had led the charge at the Burial Mounds, who had been the most disappointed at all of his choices–
“I am sorry that we did not suit you, Wangji.”
Lan Wangji exhaled, hard, feeling a stinging feeling in his eyes and nose.
He had not expected an apology.
It didn’t change everything all at once, of course. He was still angry, still spiteful, still furious, fill of bile and bone-deep rage at how his own family had so thoroughly failed to trust in him that they would take away even his right to choose. His belly was heavy with his resentment at how they disapproved of him, how they were ashamed of him, and it would take more than mere words to liberate him from it.
But still, he had to admit – there was something more complicated about it now.
It had been easier, he thought, to be merely angry.
“It was not you,” he said, a small concession. “If the circumstances were different, I could have lived my whole life at the Cloud Recesses with no dissatisfaction.”
“But they aren’t,” his uncle said, bowing his head in understanding. “And you can’t. I – do not understand, and I do not like it, but that is not necessary. It is still my dearest wish for you to be happy and safe.”
Lan Wangji wasn’t sure that being truly happy was possible in a world that lacked Wei Wuxian – a world his uncle had helped bring about with his own two hands – but he knew that the life he had built with Jiang Cheng in the Lotus Pier, warm and tightly packed and full of worries as it was, was as close as he would come, and a life of solitude and distance and tranquility at the Cloud Recesses would only be worse.
“I have another month left before I return,” he pointed out, seeking to change the subject.
“Not after that conversation,” Lan Qiren said, looking reluctantly amused. “You will be sent to the Lotus Pier as soon as can be managed to make sure that everyone is being properly supervised.”
“Jiang Cheng can supervise.”
“Jiang Wanyin won’t.”
Lan Wangji bowed his head to hide a smile. His uncle wasn’t wrong.
And he had to admit - he wouldn’t miss Jiang Cheng dealing with a teenager for the world.

Tumblr media
Look at me, not being on time for my April Immersion Overview as is the usual. (・w・;
First, little blog updates to get out of the way:
I reached 100 followers! Got an influx of people checking out my 1 year update post, and got plenty of nice compliments on my data collection.
For those of you wondering just why I keep up with so much data, it's mostly because it can get really hard to notice how much you're improving in a language especially with something like immersion learning that for people who don't get it feels like a waste of time or a time sink.
Graphs showing consistency, improvement in reading speed, increasing vocabulary counts, and generally just seeing numbers grow turns language learning more fun and motivating for me, and if as a bonus, it encourages someone to try immersion learning then that would be cool!
With that said, whether you're here as a fellow language learner, graphs enthusiast (笑), or just want some Japanese media recommendations, ようこそ!
Also, made a tiny DP change - it’s チト from 少女週末旅行. Pretty sure it’s the first manga series I ever finished in Japanese (not the first one I started since ちはやふる is still ongoing), and I always felt a bit of a ☆connection☆ with  her - between her book-loving personality and being a no-nonsense kind of person, there was no way for me not to enjoy her character. Great beginner anime/manga if you’re not into most beginner recommendations.
-☆-
April has been a pretty good immersion month, as I was able to dip my toes in a variety of media. A bit competitive, too! The club I joined has been pulling all the stops to get to the Top 20 Immersion Leaderboard in it’s first month. I was able to snag the 9th spot among a bunch of people of different comprehension levels (the majority being N1+ since they’re able to comprehend much more and in turn stand longer immersion hours). Lots of tiny complaints though of potential “whitenoising” content (”listening” and “reading” but not comprehending very well just to get a large number to post), but really what can you do? People lie all the time on the internet. Besides, it’s internet points that doesn’t do anything beyond being a little shiny I guess.
Enough about that, let’s get into the nitty-gritty details you came here for!
ANIME
Tumblr media
フルーツバスケット
Might need to rewatch this one. Felt like I didn’t connect with the characters the way the rest of its fandom has. I’m kinda sad about it, since I normally love Slice of Life and Fantasy, and I know this is one of my friend’s diehard shows.
ラブライブ! School Idol Project S2
A filler anime to watch tbh. Nice and easy enough to follow for beginners. Pretty good songs. With regards to it being a show about music and moe, I still 100% prefer K-On! if I’m going to be honest, but for a show about non-toxic idols, it’s good!
魔法少女まどか☆マギカ
First read this as English translated manga when I was 13 or something. Mistakes were made. Let’s all just agree to throw キュウベえ into a pit of fire and never talk about it again. Great ending and a show that really reworked the magical girl genre. But seriously, I was traumatized by マミ’s death then and now, help.
四月は君の嘘
Already knew what was going to happen even before watching this so I didn’t ugly cry like I was expecting. Still got that awful sinking feeling though. 10/10 would recommend for a good cry. Also, I’m planning to read the manga, might enjoy that more, because I’ve always liked it more than anime actually. *shocked pikachu face*
ホリミヤ
Watched before I even finished the manga which felt like a mistake at first until I realized that it perfectly stops where I stopped reading. Nice and comfy anime, the kind I would have loved as a teen. Fun animation too, making parts very dramatic even though it wasn’t really that deep of an issue even in the manga. Just teens feeling feelings. Still salty that we lose bad boy styled 宮村, but I get why it had to happen.
AUDIOBOOKS
Tumblr media
氷菓
Second re-listen. I understand it fine, but it’s very easy to drift off when you can’t catch all the words so I had to replay often. Will have to mine more from the anime/book.
君の名は
I mined from the anime, and was really pleased to be able to follow all 6 hours of this audiobook perfectly fine. Will need to read the book, because I realized just how seamless reading it would be after listening to it with hardly any issue.
BOOKS
Tumblr media
キッチェン
Completed! Read my thoughts about it and see my stats on this post.
君の膵臓を食べたい
Still trudging on with this one. It’s not a bad story, it’s pretty well written actually, I just made the mistake of watching both the anime and live adaptation first, so I know exactly what’s going to happen and it’s killing my motivation to keep reading. I guess reading the book first before watching the movie still applies in any language with me. Really need to 頑張れ and finish so I can move on.
三日間の幸福
Started reading towards the end of the month, mostly because I realized that every chapter is only 5000-15000 characters long, and I was able to read up to 40k in a day with Island most days. Only two chapters read so far though because I got distracted by manga, but it’s shaping up to be a really good plot and potentially a really sad one, too, so I’m interested.
DRAMA
Tumblr media
花ざかりの君たちへ イケメンパラダイス
Heard this was a classic so I gave it a try. Loved 生田 斗真’s character in this one the most especially all his internal dialogue acted out. Also, 小栗 旬 in anything is bound to be a good watch. Simple and fun watch. They dragged the ending so much though lmao
ごくせん
Look, I see 松本 潤, I click. Definitely the kind of show you should watch for some great life advice. Planning to watch the 2nd and 3rd seasons even if there is a terrible lack of 松本 潤, because I love my strong female protagonists, and man, ヤンクミ is such a great character. Need to read the manga, too, if I can find it.
極主夫道
Oof, this was kind of hard. The yakuza talk was throwing me off, but the rest of it was enjoyable. Not really plot heavy as I thought it was going to be. The comedy side of it was fun and predictable after the first few episodes. Overall, pretty good slice of life, family story with a twist.
MANGA
Tumblr media
Read a bunch of manga this month, mostly because I am struggling to find the next vn to read.
おやすみプンプン
Read a couple of volumes (6-7). This manga is so good, but it’s so depressing I need to stop to take a breather every once in a while. Please don’t leave any spoilers. The club has been reacting to me reading this, and it has mostly been a lot of crying emotes. It’s both been enjoyable to see and really worrying. 笑
チェンソーマン
Club recommendation. Only read the 1st volume so far. I really need to get into more 少年 anime/manga. That’s currently my 苦手 genre which is awful because literally all the top anime/manga is 少年 help. I just can’t enjoy it much still even though it’s comprehensible to me.
ちはやふる 中学生編
Read Vol. 1, chill read to me at this point after reading 45 volumes of the regular manga. Look, it’s my favorite 幼馴染 manga in baby format, of course I’m going to read this! 太一 has been a flake way before season 3 confirmed. Don’t come at me たいちはや stans bc I also like his character.
約束のネバーランド
Volume 7. I’m taking my sweet time with this one, because I heard the anime for season 2 sucked, so I’m avoiding it like the plague. This is 少年 how am I enjoying this and not everything else what.
ヲタクに恋は難しい
Enjoyed the anime hated the movie why did they make it a musical that sucked (ps i normally love musicals hated this one)
The オタク jargon is kinda hard to read suprisingly but I do enjoy this ship very much. It’s a lighthearted take to otaku culture which is great because seriously it’s scary out there.
ツバサ -RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE-
It’s my childhood ship, obviously I will read this again (read in English several years ago). Still as plot twisty as I remember it being (now at a bonus hard level reading it in Japanese 笑). Really enjoyed reading this one (I finished it this May).
-☆-
I’m starting to really dislike furigana in manga. It was a great help as a beginner, but now it’s like training wheels that you can’t take off. I feel like the gains I’m getting from manga is much lower than it was when I first started which makes me both proud of how far I’ve come, but also sad because I love manga. Sad that I might have to start choose VNs over it, because it’s not going to challenge me as much going forward. I mean it didn’t stop me from reading a lot of it this month, but you get the picture.
VISUAL NOVELS
Tumblr media
ISLAND
Completed! See my stats and read my long spoiler filled post here.
ファタモルガーナの館
Picked up this VN and finished two doors (15 hours) before stopping. On the fence about it, because it has been kind of predictable so far, and I don’t particularly enjoy the horror genre. That said, this is more psychological than anything, so it’s probably not that that’s putting me off. The language is not exactly difficult, too - maybe some oddly specific words because it is after all historical fiction (which is one of my favorite genres, btw), and 敬語 is definitely interesting to read for once after encountering so many お嬢様 characters in anime/drama so far.
I think maybe it’s the conversations that are kind of dull - dots (silence) every few clicks that keeps breaking the flow of reading. Probably judging it really harshly too early, because it’s rated so high everywhere, and I just have high expectations. Definitely not dropping it yet though, just taking a break and testing a couple of other VNs before I settle with whatever I end up choosing. It is, after all, going to be another 50+ hour read, and I just don’t want to not enjoy the process, because having fun with the process is a huge part of immersion learning.
Let me know if you’ve read Fata and if I should continue!
-☆-
That’s it for this month!
If you have any suggestions on what to watch and read next, please send me a reply, especially for VNs because I’m struggling over here.

weird question: how was ur flight to paris i’m going this summer and i’m so scared <333 glad you got to go and had sm fun!
not a weird question at all anon! anyway i think it depends on how far the airport you’re starting from is from your flight to paris, and if there’s a connection flight or not. my flight went from charlotte nc to madrid spain to paris.
from charlotte to madrid the flight was 7 hours, and from madrid to paris the flight was 2 hours. my family also took covid tests the day before we left to make sure they were negative so we would be able to leave europe and go back to the us. we also took covid tests 2 days before we left for our trip and made sure they were negative as well.
i only had a small issue in the airport in spain (going to paris) because we had to go thru passport security which was an incredibly long line, to the point where we missed our flight and got a separate one two hours later. but when we came from spain to back to charlotte it was fine and we were early and didn’t miss our flight.
now for a bunch of fun facts:
-paris is also 6 hours from where i live so i had to keep that in mind too. in spring (like rn) the sky is very light outside at like 8pm.
-i stayed at the art de eiffel hotel which was really nice.
-if you aren’t incredibly fluent in french need someone who speaks english, try to ask a taxi driver or guard your question? i noticed most of them spoke english or at least knew someone who did. like even when i did try speaking french my accent was very shaky so many people who spoke both french and english couldn’t understand me until i spoke english. but i am going to take french and college to hopefully fix that. like my parents speak zero french so they kind of had to rely on my for translating, which was rocky. and take ur hotel map with u if possible
-please go the the mcdonald’s near art de eiffel if ur staying in that hotel. the food is so good. plus they have macarons. my favorites are the lemon or caramel
-i made a list of words regarding breakfast/lunch/dinner/numbers/money/currency/basic greetings translated from french to english.
-i’m also going to tell u this right now so u do not make the same mistake i unfortunately did. if u want to visit the inside of the louvre, you have to make a reservation online. they would not let me in unless i had a reservation. i couldn’t go inside because the louvre was booked through the 20th of april and i left paris on the 19th
anyway that’s all i have!!! enjoy ur trip!

I've been around fandoms for several decades now. Both before the internet, through the earliest days of internet fandom, to the present day.
I can genuinely say, the way Supergirl treats its fans, especially the LGBTQ or BIPOC fans as a whole, has been the worst by some margin. Particularly in regards Supercorp in terms of queerbaiting.
Whether those involved in the production of Supergirl want to admit it or not, Supergirl as it stands has been queerbaiting a large portion of the audience. Without a doubt, in terms of a ship, the largest core group of fans there is for Supercorp, and by some margin.
Have there been some fans who have taken things too far? Absolutely. And every good SC fan I know recognise and understand this, and constantly say this.
Yet somehow, an entire fandom gets tarred with the same brush continually.
But worse still, when anyone tries to address the queerbaiting that has gone on with someone who works on the show, other than the women in general, Jon Cryer (who could teach those BTS of SG a lot on how to engage with fans on SM, and not piss off swathes of fans), and Jesse, there are few instances I can think of where it then hasn't resulted in SC fans getting dumped on, or called delusional, or basically saying it isn't there.
Here's the thing.
As LGBTQ fans, the majority of us - especially the older ones like myself - know exactly what queerbaiting is. How do you think it even became recognised as a problem?
Because we called media out on it. The LGBTQ audiences defined it, via our experiences. So we know exactly what queerbaiting is thank you. We don't need to be told it isn't there or isn't something going on - because we are the ones who wrote up the damn definition!
In all my years of fandoms, never have I seen queerbaiting on the scale Supergirl use. Season 5 - especially 5a - brought the queerbaiting to a whole new level.
So many of us now dread S6, because S5 was so bad in a multitude of ways for the LGBTQ audience, including but not exclusively Supercorp queerbaiting.
And I don't speak for all SC fans, but I do see a lot like me are caught in a conundrum. We all love the majority of the cast. Particularly the women. Sure we all have favourites, but also as a whole, the female cast is loved and respected.
Here's my dilemma. I want to support the female cast. Hell I was a Chyler, Katie and Azie fan long before Supergirl, and have grown to love Melissa, Andrea and Nicole particularly. Nicole as a transgender women especially holds a place dear to us. I will support them all beyond Supergirl.
As S6 will begin filming, I want nothing more than to show them I love, support and care for them. But then I'm at the point where I want to just tell the show to go jump, because they've sucked all the enjoyment I had out of it for me. When you actually dread what the next week might bring, that is not what any show should be about. Yet here I find myself dreading what the show might bring.
I also am questioning do The CW even care about Supergirl any more, especially as they finally got Superman, which they've coveted for years, and made no secret of it.
They seem to forget that Supergirl and Superman have two pretty distinct fans. I like Superman, but I love Supergirl. I'm also just a little bit done with all the iterations of Superman we've had on screen.
Supergirl has always struggled on the social media side of fan engagement as well. Not once have I seen a showrunner actively engage with the audience. Or at least, if they have it was a long time ago. The current showrunners definitely haven't. Hell, one doesn't even have a SM account.
But even if a showrunner or others involved in the show don't engage, when others do, it becomes a nightmare. The last 6 or 7 hours are a case in point.
Again, yes some fans take it too far where Supercorp is involved. Yet, once again, rather than just stepping away, a writer got embroiled into something that didn't need to happen, because they gave out conflicting tweets on replies to fans over Supercorp, and then began blocking fans who were polite and respectful and did absolutely nothing to warrant a block.
Then they also liked a post that called SC fans dicks.
Yet somehow again, we are all the bad guys.
I've no doubt that they felt overwhelmed on how the reactions went. I truly do. But I really don't understand why anyone doesn't just step back. Put out a polite post saying it's all getting a bit too much, and they need to disengage. I think each and every decent fan would understand and respect that. I know I would.
But here's the thing.
Ultimately the writer shouldn't be in that position of trying to answer fans on it all. Nor should they dismiss fans who say it is queerbaiting, if they're not LGBTQ themselves.
The problem is Supergirl social media is so lacking, it places a higher burden on writers and others instead. That is on the show. Entirely.
I also have to question just how diverse is the writers room? Having a number of women, if they are White and cis, when you have a cast of characters who are LGBTQ and/or Black or POC, is not having a good diverse writers room. And it shows.
If you say there is no queerbaiting, but not LGBTQ, you need to stop trying to redefine what is accepted queerbaiting.
If someone says it is a gay agenda, you need to stop with that, because that is homophobic. End of. That's no different that being racist if you write it is a Black agenda.
Supergirl put themselves in this position.
I've had family watch Supergirl with no preconceptions on characters suddenly say: I see something between Kara and Lena. Are they together? And being astounded when not only do they realise they're not together, that they actually have 4 seasons of this and counting.
This has come from straight family. Or my very gay, very into men brother in law.
If others see it who aren't involved as Supercorp fans, who might even be straight - that is queerbaiting.
But here's the thing. It shouldn't need us to say others see it too. If a large segment of audience see it, say it is there, pull out receipts to show why they are saying that time and again, that should be enough.
Yet it isn't.
As much as it pains me - I sense now The CW has Superman, they're going to let Supergirl go by end of S6. I'd be more surprised if they announce a 7th season than not.
Whatever decisions on the shows future they might be making, one thing is clear.
If they don't allow Supercorp to develop, and don't get rid of whatever homophobic block is going on for the show, Supergirl will be left with a legacy of being probably the worst example on queerbaiting your audience ever.
The 100 are still panned to this day over Clexa by LGBTQ fans.
Supergirl still have a chance, a choice to pull it around.
Sadly I doubt that will happen.
In the meantime, I'm stuck on wanting to stop watching the show, but wanting desperately to support the cast. That's the conundrum many of us now face.
The legacy Supergirl will leave is not going to be about empowering women if they don't change significantly for S6.
It will be how they queerbaited, how they dismissed the only full cast Black woman, worse still, who played an LGBTQ role. How they dismissed the LGBTQ as a whole.
Those are legacies that will not die away for LGBTQ fans. The CW in general has tainted itself with the LGBTQ audience in more than one show.
What a mess.
And it really wouldn't take much to avoid all of this. That's what is so disappointing. It is an easy fix.
Apologies for any typos/mistakes as I'm posting unedited.

Why you should watch RWBY
TL;DR:
Summary: RWBY is an epic fantasy with themes like found family, the struggle to remain hopeful, the younger generation growing up, villain redemption, and systemic evils.
Strengths: RWBY has unique and memorable characters. The show is smart. It has excellent cinematography and animation. It has representation. It tackles hard topics. It’s got incredible music and it’s free on RT’s website.
Weaknesses: RWBY has some early growing pains, specifically volume 2’s finale, as well as budget and polish. Later on, volume 4 is weaker than the rest. Volume 8's finale is extremely distressing for a lot of viewers (and we haven't seen the follow up to those events yet). The fandom can be bad at times.
Misinformation: The early volumes being bad, the racism plot line, and the animation (not the same as “budget and polish”) are not as bad as you may have heard from YouTube.

Volume 8
(I did my best to make this spoiler-free. When there are spoilers, they’re worded ambiguously enough that someone new to the show would never guess what’s going to happen just by reading this.)
What to expect
The world of Remnant is filled with monsters called the creatures of Grimm. Warriors called Huntsmen and Huntresses defend humanity. Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang go to school to become the next generation of heroes. Together they make Team RWBY (pronounced, “Ruby”)! Joining them is team JNPR (“Juniper”), made up of Jaune, Nora, Pyrrha, and Ren. But evils even more dangerous than the Grimm are ready to make their move, and school quickly becomes an afterthought…
(I mention these next two topics specifically bc they can immediately turn someone away based on bad expectations.) There is a fantasy school setting, but RWBY is not a show about school. School topics are not a dominant idea: it seems to resemble a setting like Harry Potter, but the actual focus of the show rarely touches on things like classes or homework or tests, and we quickly move on. There is romance and it has a role in the plot, but RWBY is not a romance show. On the scale of romance in FMAB to She-Ra, RWBY falls somewhere in the middle.
What is RWBY about, then? RWBY is like an epic fantasy or high fantasy, despite first appearances. Perhaps not every genre convention is followed, but at its core, RWBY is about an epic struggle of good and evil.
RWBY contains themes such as found family, the struggle to remain hopeful, the younger generation growing up, villain redemption, and systemic evils.
Strengths of the show
The characters are unique and memorable. One of the cool things is that they all draw inspiration from a real life fairy tale, myth, or something else. They designs are all top notch. One character who died with extremely little screen time even got so much fandom love, they included the character in a mid-hiatus short later. The characters have unique weapons, too; in the world of Remnant, a weapon is an extension of ones’ soul, and they reflect the variety of their owners. They’re also just plain cool; Monty was famous for following the “Rule of Cool.” And their individual stories are all compelling and interesting.
The show is smart. As a fandom, we generally pick up on the narrative hints the creators are dropping. And our predictions usually come true, but not in a way that makes the show predictable and boring. We very rarely guess exactly what will happen, but we have some similar idea of it. It’s just excellent foreshadowing.
RWBY also likes to play with tropes, as an extension of this. Often it will challenge them, or subvert expectations. In other cases, RWBY uses tropes to avoid showing us what we already know will happen. This occurs in both characters and plot. For example…
SLIGHT SPOILERS FOR VOLUME ONE FOR THE REST OF THIS PARAGRAPH: Jaune’s entire character arc is about trying to be the anime protagonist, and learning that he doesn’t have to do things alone, and it’s ok to be a support main. The show sets up the narrative in a way that looks like, oh of course the direction it will go is him becoming the main character, but then it destroys toxic masculinity instead.
Our characters are smart, too. Plot-induced stupidity generally doesn’t happen. (A few big mistakes or errors in this regard aren’t actually the fault of the narrative, either, but animation and miscommunication and failure to execute. And those aren’t common.) It goes beyond just “not being dumb,” however. The villains’ plans are incredibly clever, and our heroes sometimes even guess at the usual “plot twists.”
The cinematography is just incredible. There are numerous freeze frames with extreme attention to detail that reveal character motivations or arcs or foreshadowing, there are many effective cuts and moving parts, there are soooo many parallels and callbacks, and visual cues such as lighting and color all are used appropriately to convey emotion and assist the narrative. It is one of the biggest overlooked strengths of the show, imo, simply because a lot of people in the fandom don’t notice these things as much for whatever reason, or else don’t give as much praise about them.
The animation is extremely good as well. Budget issues and technology issues aside (which means a lack of polish), the actual animation? The fight choreography, and all the other parts of animation that aren’t just “expensive CGI” are all wonderful. You can have very shiny, polished turds after all, and RWBY is like the opposite: not very polished, especially early on, but very well animated. All the trailers, volume 1 episode 8, the volume 1 finale, the volume 2 penultimate episode, and basically everything else hold up extremely well even today. If anything, the worst fight animation was in volumes 4 and 5 because of Maya growing pains, and those are an example of being more polished, but not necessarily better animated. Animation of faces has always been good, animation of characters has always felt lively. Aside from a few small actual hiccups (that one person running across rooftops for instance), it’s well done.
There are LGBTQ+ characters. The treatment of one of the recent trans characters, in volume 8, was nothing short of amazing. They worked with a VA who was trans. The moment of canon confirmation was important to the character for backstory, because of course that affects the character’s life, but not the only important thing about the character. The representation is not in-your-face or pandering. And there is a split of representation among the main cast and the minor characters, with promises of more to come (notably they’ve said they’re working on more mlm for future volumes, too).
RWBY is not afraid to tackle hard topics. It deals with things like mental illness, systematic racism, and cycles of abuse. It’s not because the show is trying to earn “gritty and dark” points, it’s because those are some of the topics that real people have to struggle with as well. And the show handles most or all of them very well, in a way that shows respect and an honest attempt to depict these things as best they can. (NOTE ABOUT VOLUME 8: THERE IS A VERY DIFFUCLT CONVERSATION CURRENTLY HAPPENING. I am on the side of, let’s wait and see what happens next because the story isn’t over, so we haven’t really seen the fall out. But I understand why this paragraph feels really difficult to agree with if you've seen the volume 8 finale. I trust the track record of the rest of the show, personally.)
As an example, the show has a theme that villains are rarely evil just because. A lot of villains choose to do bad things because they were hurt in some way. Some lived in poverty; some were hurt by racism; many of them are victims of abuse. But the show doesn’t make excuses for them. It’s possible to be both sympathetic and still choose evil over and over again (that’s called tragic). The ones who eventually do try to do good again are not always forgiven, either.
The music is amazing. I can probably count on my hands the number of times I’ve heard someone say otherwise, which is astonishing when you consider this fandom.
It’s also free on RT’s website. (A paid, “FIRST” subscription removes ads and lets you see new episodes one week early, but they all eventually release for free.)
Weaknesses of the show
Early volumes’ growing pains exist, much like most or all other shows. (Even some of the greatest were not immune to this, like ATLA.) In this case, however, it’s a little bit rougher. A large reason why is that this was kind of the first big thing from RT to ever come out. If you remember back almost a decade ago, their only other big thing at the time was RvB, which was machinima. They pretty much started from scratch with everything, from assets to VAs to animation to writing. Imagine if a random twitch streamer, like Ninja (idk who’s popular these days) said one day, “OK let me just direct something that’s intended to be the next great movie series of all time, like Star Wars, with a $4 bill and an iPhone camera.” Then went out and actually made something. Of course it would be rough…but then it turns out the movie is actually really good. And then you get to watch over the next several years as everything gets better and better until it’s honest-to-god comparable to the MCU. That’s kind of what happened with RWBY.
One specific growing pain was the volume 2 finale. Pretty much everything else up until that point, I love about the show. But the finale just fails to deliver on the build up of tension from other episodes. Some of it is because of later plot developments that we didn’t know at the time; some of it is because of just not great writing; some of it is because of just not great animation; and yes, some of it is budget. Regardless, it’s a low point for the show.
Speaking of, the budget for the early volumes is super small. The infamous volume one shadow people, the infamous person jumping across the rooftops in volume two, and just production quality isn’t high compared to a major release from some established studio. These are real weaknesses of the show that for some people, make it unwatchable, and if that’s you, that’s ok.
One last weakness of the show, the screen time per episode, especially early on, is NOT a full 20 minutes like you may expect of an anime (or anime-inspired-western-media, for those of you who will die on the “RWBY is not an anime” hill). This is a trend that has stuck with the show, a shorter run time per episode, for generally the entire lifetime. On one hand, it means it’s a little less daunting to catch up or rewatch than the number of episodes might imply. On the other, early on, some episodes have a little weird pacing. It also means the writing had to adjust for this, so while RWBY got really good at telling a story within a shorter amount of time, there’s also challenges with that too. Perhaps one of the notable ones is the pacing, with slower moments sometimes feeling like it takes up too much screen time, or not enough. Volume 4 was a particular struggle for the crew, both because they switched animation engines and also for the story.
Common complaints that I don’t agree with
I don’t agree that the early volumes were actually bad overall. Growing pains, yes, but not bad. I attribute that complaint to overly focusing on one character’s storyline, back when it wasn’t clear there was so much more to come and before people realized the show would challenge the tropes instead of falling into them. It’s pretty much just volume 1 when people say this anyway, most of them I’ve heard admit that volume 2 was a lot better (except the finale) and almost everyone loves volume 3. And looking back on it, I do think volume 1 holds up.
Tying into this, the racism plot line is another common complaint. I don’t think it’s actually executed quite that badly. I think it makes sense for there to be regional differences in the amount of racism we see, it just so happened that we only saw a very small and isolated environment, Beacon, for much of the early volumes. (Incidentally, that’s actually similar the environment I myself grew up in.) It’s not perfect, though. But there’s no doubt that the later volumes do a better job portraying this. Again, I attribute it mostly to people not knowing how long the show would run for at the time, so of course if that’s all we saw, it would’ve been bad. But it’s not. I have a lot of respect for Miles and Kerry for even attempting to handle the racism topic in the first place. And for the faults that DO exist in this plot line, I credit them for learning and growing past that too, and doing better in later volumes.
The animation is not bad. I’ve already touched on that earlier, but people confuse “budget and polish” with “animation.” Give me RWBY any day over Michael Bay’s Transformers: no matter how much polish those robots have, they’re still a confusing mess to try and follow. And the polish isn’t even an issue once we get past the growing pains of Maya and get a bigger budget, because wow does this show look good now.
Between these three complaints I hear about often, I think those are the biggest ones. And they’re all generally done in bad faith, based not on just those but on other more provocative statements people also make with them. That’s part of my issue with the fandom, specifically the vocal but small parts of the fandom, because they’re just repeating these things from early days that aren’t true. But YouTubers gotta get those rage and hate clicks somehow, right? Unfortunately it discredits the show a lot and influences other people’s opinions into not giving it a fair chance, because it’s become a narrative of “RWBY IS BAD” when they all won’t shut up about it. So yeah, fandom can be bad, join at your own discretion. (Of course, all fandoms have annoying parts, and my interactions with the fandom have been good overall, otherwise.)
Onto other complaints, some say the cast is bloated. I don’t agree, but I don’t think this one is in bad faith. I think we get the important characters as much screen time as we can, and the minor characters don’t actually detract from that; one of the differences between good minor characters and bad ones, is that bad ones take up too much time. RWBY has a ton of characters but many of the minor ones don’t actually take up too much time. So it appears bloated, but actually I don’t think it is.
Finally, a small word on the no-no topics. Adam, and Monty. Adam is like the champion of the Monty topic. Which essentially boils down to “Miles and Kerry are ruining Monty’s vision for the show.” Toxic fandom is truly awful and I have no respect for anyone who says anything like that. Shame on all of you. This isn’t really anything negative about the show, but the fandom, and tbf all fandoms have toxic parts. But toxic fandom can be a real and valid reason to not watch a show. Thankfully they seem fewer in number these days, but I think they’ve evolved into hiding behind other characters or topics, so you know. Beware. Again, it's not too hard to avoid them or block them, and my interactions otherwise with most fans have been good.

-> Relating with a minister
Peace!

2021 Fic in Review
I felt tagged by @liminal-zone, so here we go!!
Total number of completed works/fandoms written in: 48 completed fics published on AO3, 11 completed fics published on a non-english fanfic site, 7 completed original stories. (Only 5 of all of these are multi-chapter though. Most of them are short oneshots.) I mostly stayed in the MCU/Cap movies fandom except for some crossover shenanigans.
Did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you’d expected? SO MUCH MORE!! I had a 'I think I'll never be able to write again' crisis going on in 2020, so I didn't expect this sudden rush of productivity at all!
What’s your favourite story of the year? Oh man, that's a tough one! I had so much fun with so many different story types this year, and I liked how most of them turned out! But I think I've reached my peak with that crack fic about Actor Sebastian Stan constantly being mistaken for Very Wanted International Terrorist Bucky Barnes. It's sadly not written in English and I suck at translating, so you'll have to trust me that it's hilarious.
Did you take any writing risks this year? I mean, I started writing noncon fic, so, yes, absolutely! I love trying out new things, and this year has been a blast in that regard.
Do you have any writing goals for the new year? Not really. "Finish my WIPs" is always a goal, but I won't promise anything. I've learned that writing goals don't really help me achieve things, and that it works best for me when I write the things I'm in the mood for, when I'm in the mood for, as often as I'm in the mood for, rather than sticking to a schedule or fixed goals.
Most popular story of the year: Surprisingly, it's still Notes, the second fic I ever uploaded to AO3, at the very beginning of my current fandom obsession. It was probably solely due to good timing - I published it the week after the first episode of TFATWS aired.
Most under-appreciated story of yours, in your opinion: I think that's clearly A Bitter Eternity - although I completely understand why it's not that popular. It's a Hydra Wins AU and very, very sad.
Most fun story to write: I wrote so much crack this year, and the non-crack was also fun to write, but my favorite is Guard Dog. I just love bureaucracy crack and paperwork shenanigans.
Most unintentionally telling story: I am a firm believer in the fact that you absolutely cannot tell anything about an author's personal life solely based on the fics they write. (It may work the other way around - if you know someone, you might recognize elements from their lives in their stories.) So, no, I don't think a single story of mine was unintentionally telling. (Well, my HTP stories tell you that I'm into fucked up shit, so there's that.)
Biggest disappointment: It kind of bothers me that, considering the amount of words I wrote this year, I cannot write longfic. I can type out oneshots pretty fast, but as soon as it's becoming multi-chapter, it takes me months to even continue, let alone finish.
Biggest surprise: Noncon fics are hot, actually. Also: The sheer amount of feedback and enthusiasm on AO3, OH MY GOD. It's amazing!! I was not used to this. I come from a fanfic site where comments/interaction in general are rare (especially when you write niche stuff like I do), and when I moved over to AO3, there were suddenly so!! many!! people!! who liked the same stuff as I did! Who create so much content for it and who like the content I create! I've never been a "give me validation or else" kind of person - I write stuff because I want to, and if no one reads it, that's fine, at least it made me happy. But OH BOI did all those lovely comments give me a motivation boost!!
My favourite part of fandom in 2021: MY FELLOW TRASH PANDAS I LOVE YOU *BOOTSTEPPY*
Tagging: Everyone who wants to do this!

Talking Books With @tricksterdreamsreads!
Tumblr media
[What is this and how can I participate?]
Important note: I haven’t changed or edited any of the answers. I’ve only formatted the book titles so they were clearer, but nothing else. Because I’m incapable of shutting up, my comments are between brackets and in italics, so you can distinguish them clearly.
----------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
[Image description: a square titled “Know the blogger”. Handle & pronouns: TricksterDreams, she/her; country: Germany; three adjectives to describe her: shy, quiet & introverted /end]
1. What is a book that profoundly shaped the way you are/think?
Wow, this is a hard one! I don’t have “a book” that made me who I am. It’s more a collection of books and other media that shaped me, or rather: shaped my personal interests. I remember reading a children’s book series called Der kleine Vampir by Angela Sommer-Bodenburg (‘The little vampire’) when I just started middle school and liking it very much. To this day I enjoy vampire novels and urban fantasy in general.
Then, of course, I grew up with Harry Potter. That’s probably the boring answer. But I grew up with it like so many other booklovers and it holds a place in my heart.  The Deathly Hallows was the first book outside of school I read in English. I just couldn’t wait for a translation and got it on release-day on a whim. This certainly takes me back, down nostalgia lane. I didn’t understand every single thing, but it was enough to follow the story. I became a straight-A-student in English after the summer break! Today I am as fluent as you can be as a non-native-speaker. I even chose English as a major at university. (I dropped out after a few semesters and now I work as a lawyer’s secretary instead. Turns out, university just wasn’t for me.) That book was the catalyst in developing my love for the language. (Though I have to say, current events regarding the author do put a damper on my enjoyment of the books.)
Aside from collecting “regular” books, I also collect Manga. That started about half a lifetime ago. It started with only watching Anime on daytime TV when I was a kid. Then one day I stumbled upon Yu-Gi-Oh! Vol. 3 at my local library and it became the first Manga I ever read. Then Vol. 1-3 became the first Manga I ever owned. Today my ever growing collection contains between 1200-1500 volumes (I don’t have an exact number). I think my life and identity as a fangirl originally started with Anime/Manga, though I didn’t know the term “fangirl” at the time.
2. Last book someone gave to you?
I don’t think anyone gave me a book in ages. I really can’t remember! I usually get my books myself these days. Also, people who know me refuse to gift me more books since my TBR “pile” (more like my TBR bookcase) is longer than my life-expectancy already.
Looking at my shelves an old vintage tome sticks out at me. Die Gartenlaube – Illustriertes Familienblatt. It’s probably not the last book I was given, but it’s one I remember getting. It’s an old tome collecting articles from a German magazine or illustrated paper from 1892. The book is not in the best conditions (it’s pretty tattered) but it’s well over a hundred years old and I think that’s pretty neat! I got it from my grandparents and they got it from someone else, though we don’t remember where they got it from. Check out my blog, if you’d like to see it. I am going to post some pictures soon. Feel free to remind me if I forget!
[It sounds so interesting! I would be terrified of accidentally being too brusque and breaking it, though. A hundred years old is really old!!]
3. Do you set yearly reading goals?
Every year since 2014 I set a goal of 50 books for my goodreads reading challenge. And every year I fail spectacularly. The results span from 7 to 19 books per year so far. But each year I try again. One year I will succeed! I just finished reading the tenth book of 2021 an hour ago! Hopefully my progress won’t stagnate there again…
[“Just” as in 20th April... I hope you get close to your goal this year!! Keep me updated!!]
4. Comedies or tragedies?
Hmm… So the thing is, I enjoy “Angst with a happy ending”. Actually, I looove angst with a happy ending. But tragedies are all the angst without the happy ending, so I’ll have to go with comedies. After all, who doesn’t like to laugh? Though sometimes, I do actually feel like having a good cry over tragically sad stories, sooo… *shrug*
5. Have you ever organized a reading challenge or readathon?
No, I haven’t.  Haven’t participated in one either, even though I always wanted to. Lately I’ve been tempted to start a “read as many Manga from your TBR as possible in one weekend” read-a-thon. But I probably don’t have enough of a following on social media to catch the interest of people. Aaand I’m lazy, so I wouldn’t trust myself to organize one anyway. But maybe I will just quietly challenge myself one of these days.
[Aw, don’t think that!! I’m sure there will be lots of people interested in a Manga readathon, if you ever get the impulse to organise one I’d say you go ahead!! I’m sure you’ll be pleasantly surprised.]
