How could you not know?
tenth doctor x GN!reader
Summary: In which an alien fortune teller lets your feelings for the Doctor slip
Tumblr media
“5027, the outskirts of Alpha Centauri,” The Doctor explained, landing the TARDIS with a flourish. The ship retaliated with a shake making you wobble a bit in a desperate attempt to not fall over. Sometimes you wondered if the Doctor actually did know what he was doing when it came to the TARDIS. He claimed she was a finicky ship, but you had your suspicions regarding his flying abilities.
Once you had regained your footing you exchanged a childish grin with the Time Lord, both of you excited for your next adventure. Without warning, you bounded excitedly out of the ship, anxious to see what was on the other side.
The sky instantly caught your attention, its purple hue so different from anything you’d seen before. Multiple moons littered the skyline, and cars zoomed through the air above your head. The grass was soft and emitted a faintly sweet aroma. You turned your face to the sky, allowing the light rain to fall on you. With an over joyous giggle you looked back at the Doctor “It’s fantastic!”
He smiled at you lovingly from the TARDIS’ doorway, leaning on the frame slightly. He loved seeing you like this.
“Allons-y?” He asked, more a question than an exclamation. You nodded enthusiastically and held your hand out for him. He locked the door before running to your side, slipping your hand into his.
“By now you lot have spread yourselves across the galaxy,” The Doctor explained, “Mingled with aliens and traveled amongst the stars.”
You watched the Doctor as he talked, completely smitten with his knowledge and passion regarding the vast universe. He talked about it with such passion and enthusiasm, that you had no choice but to listen intently.
“Planets like this sort of turn into a melting pot,” He continued, “you can find just about any species here,” He looked down at you with a smile. “The center of the city is a big ‘ol market of sorts. You can get goods and foods from all around the galaxy,” He explained.
“Kind of like an alien farmers market?” You asked with a laugh.
“Sort of,” He shrugged, “you’ll see.”
After a short walk, you had found yourselves in the aforementioned city center. The Doctor wasn’t joking when he called it a big market. For as long as you could see there were rows and rows of vendors selling everything from oddly colored fruits to exotic fibers, and everything in between. It was almost too much, all of the sights, smells, and textures hitting you at once.
Much to the Doctor’s dismay, you asked to stop at every single booth. It was your first space market, and you wanted to see everything. After all, there was so very much to see.
“Where do we even start?” You breathed, still trying to take it all in. As much as you wanted to run wild, the Doctor was the expert here.
The Doctor scanned the area quickly before leading you to a wooden booth selling what appeared to be bread. Surely the Doctor hadn’t taken you to an alien planet for bread? You were almost certain he was aware of the numerous kinds of bread on Earth.
The Doctor paid for two small loaves and handed one to you.
“Did you really just buy bread?” You laughed, looking at the food in your hands.
“Just try it,” The Doctor grinned.
You examined the loaf, finding it to be more of a pastry than a simple loaf of bread. Deciding it was safe enough you bit into it warily. A slightly sour taste assaulted you, catching you off guard. You pulled the bread away to examine the bright pink jelly that filled it.
“What is this?” You asked the Doctor wide-eyed.
“Neo-fruit,” he smiled, taking a large bite out of his own. “Like it?” He asked, mouth half full. You nodded and took another bite, letting the combination of sweet and sour melt on your tongue. The Doctor finished his treat quickly,  but you savored yours as the two of you walked along.
At some point you found yourself stuck at a small booth displaying beautiful scarves. Their silky smooth texture had initially drawn your attention, but the longer you looked at them the more interesting they became. In your hands, you held a scarf the same blue as the TARDIS, with lighter-colored swirls and small yellow dots littered throughout. You must have been holding it for a while because the Doctor noticed.
“You like it?” He asked, pulling you from your thoughts.
“Reminds me of the TARDIS,” You smiled. The Doctor nodded and pulled a few coins from his jacket pocket before handing them to the vendor.
“It’s yours,” He smiled back.
“I- um. Thank you.”
“May I?” He asked, gesturing to the scarf. You nodded quickly, handing it over to him. He ran his fingers through the fabric, unraveling the scarf, before wrapping it gently around you. The action felt so shockingly intimate you couldn’t help but turn a bright scarlet. The Doctor, per usual, had become too distracted to notice. He ran off, leaving you starstruck in his absence.
By the time that you caught back up to the Doctor, he already had two pints of steaming liquid in his hands. He shoved one into your own hands before clinking your glasses together. You stared at the drink, shocked.
“Hot chocolate,” He explained before taking a gulp of his. Foam from the top stuck to his upper lip. You smiled and sipped your own drink, getting the foam on the tip of your nose. Without a second thought, the Doctor used his thumb to wipe it off, the simple touch sending shivers down your spine.
Always in motion, the Doctor kept making his way through the market as you enjoyed your drinks.
You loved spending time with the Doctor like this, taking and laughing while you held hands. His hand always seemed to find its way into yours, almost as if he was scared he might lose you amongst the chaos that followed him.
By the time you had walked through all of the booths, both you and the Doctor were carrying small purchases and laughing comfortably. You decided to loop back through the market on the way to the TARDIS. You walked hand in hand, taking in all of the sights around you.
Your eyes caught on a small booth you hadn’t noticed before. The setup was akin to a fortune teller’s booth. You tugged on the Doctor’s sleeve, excited to see what an alien fortune teller looked like.
You slipped your way through the drapery and into the booth. Inside was a beautiful alien. Her skin was an iridescent white with large ears poking out of her long, silky hair. As your eyes settled on her face, you instantly became aware of her eyes - or lack thereof.
“Greetings!” She hummed, gesturing to the seat before her.
You looked at the Doctor, warry of the stunning creature before you. He nodded, and you took a seat before her. She grasped your hands lightly with her own, her touch feather-light.
After a few moments of silence, she spoke up.
“You love him.”
You cast a wayward glance back at the Doctor, panic coursing through you.
“Yeah,” you laughed, “he’s my best mate.”
“No,” she continued, “you truly love him.”
You stammered, not knowing how to react.
“He’s just a friend,” you smiled painfully. It was true, that’s all the Doctor was.
“But you want more,” she said plainly. You were almost certain if she had eyes they would be baring into your soul.
You looked back at the Doctor, panicked, but he was already walking out of the booth. You pulled your hands from the aliens and dashed after him.
You caught up to him quickly, but he didn’t seem to fully register your presence. The walk back to the TARDIS was silent. The Doctor didn’t seem to have anything to say, and you were too scared to speak up. Was he angry? Your greatest fears settled around you like a very uncomfortable blanket. This was it, the Doctor was finally done with you. All because of one stupid alien.
The Doctor unlocked the ship silently and made his way straight to the console, busying himself with flicking switches and pressing buttons.
You peeled your coat off slowly before draping it over the railing. Absentmindedly your hands went to the scarf around your neck, pulling at the threads anxiously.
“I don’t know what she was talking about,” You laughed, though it wasn’t very convincing.
“No?” The Doctor asked calmly, looking you in the eye. His gaze was so heavy it was almost impossible to look away.
“Really, honestly!” You said, trying to hide your voice crack. The Doctor pulled his eyes away from you and back to the console in front of him. Anxiety built within you again. When the Doctor never responded you spoke up again, “Please say something.”
The Doctor turned his attention back to you, his usually expressive eyes impossible to read.
“Please.” You whispered, pulling at your new scarf desperately.
“You really are oblivious,” He said, pulling his eyes from yours.
“W-what?” You stammered.
“After all this time you still don’t know?” He asked, shoving himself off of the console and walking over to you. “You don’t realize just how hard I’ve fallen for you?”
“Me? Are you sure? Out of the whole universe you fell for me?”
The Doctor laughed brightly, “How could I not?” He asked, his hands ghosting on the sides of your body. You looked up at him, finally seeing all of the love hidden within his honey eyes. You crushed yourself for never noticing it before.
“You’re the most magnificent person I’ve ever met,” he whispered.
Tired of waiting, the Doctor wrapped his arms around you with a newfound urgency. His lips connected with yours, sending all kinds of sparks down your body. You quickly relaxed into the kiss, allowing your arms to drape over his shoulders.
He pulled away briefly, wanting to make sure this was what you wanted. He didn’t even get to open his mouth before you cut him off, a more desperate kiss erupting from you. The Doctor was more than happy to oblige, his arms wrapping even tighter around you. One of his hands moved upwards to cup your face delicately, his thumb rubbing circles into your skin. When you finally pulled away, gasping for air, the Doctor grinned at you.
“Can we do more of that?” You asked, breathlessly.

"Confess Properly!" (Law x Reader)
Tumblr media
Description: Law was puzzled about something… you. He can’t place his finger on whether it’s that you pay close attention to him or that you are an easy-going person. On top of all of that you were in fact, beautiful and you always had everyone’s back. You were like an angel in Law’s eyes, but it’s not like he’d tell you that. But one day that all changes when the rest of the crew speaks about your traits and personality.
Side Notes: Hey loves! I’m new to writing fanfic’s so please go easy on me. (I'm also running off of 2 energy drinks and One Piece) ⚆ _ ⚆ (Most likely spelling mistakes)
~~~
Law had always been fond of you ever since he saw you and even before he had formed an alliance with Straw Hat Luffy. But there’s one thing that puzzles him.. he doesn't know why, but he much preferred you over anyone else in the crew. Probably because you made him onigiris when you paid close attention to his dislikes such as bread or the fact that you were peaceful and it didn't take much to please you.
However one day things change.. His hold on his glass mug tightened, seeing as Bartolomeo swoons and fanboys over you. He gritted his teeth as jealousy ran through his veins, it took all of him not to use his devil fruit.
"Tch. Damn Rooster-ya."
~~~
The ocean air had a cool yet refreshing breeze. The sun shined bright as birds chirped happily above, the waters being surprisingly calm as the smell of salty water filled the air. It was a nice break from all the chaos and action on the ship.
Law was still in a bad mood as he leaned against the wooden railing of the deck.
You were out on the same small deck looking out at the view in the distance, with a plastic old chair you took from your room.
“Oh hi Law..” you said tiredly.
He glanced up at you, seeing your innocent smile that had the chance to make anyone's day better, made him soften just a little bit.
The doctor sighed as he leaned back on the railing, crossing his arms to keep himself from doing something he'd regret. He had to keep a poker face.
"Ah, uh, hey."
“What's with the grumpy mood..?” you said peacefully.
"..nothing."
He replied in a monotone voice, trying to not look at you. He wasn’t trying to be rude but definitely came off as he was. He was just jealous that those other guys were drooling all over you.
“Well it seems like something..”
Law scoffed, and leaned on the railing again, he hated it when you saw through his facade. He clenched his fists as he looked down at the waters below. Why did he feel this way about you? What was it about you..
"..forget about it. It's nothing important."
Law crossed his arms a little tighter as he glared out into the ocean, trying to suppress his emotions. It seemed pretty clear you knew something was wrong, it seemed his face told a lot more than he wanted it to.
"..it's nothing, just a little irritated from all that.. Attention…"
“What attention..?”
"You know what attention."
He grumbled as he clenched his fists tighter. This was exactly why he hated Bartolomeo and hated how much he loved you.
"The way he keeps going on and on, those other guys- it's just so annoying. All they do is drool and worship you."
“Oh.. I dont care much about them..”
"…r-really?"
Law's gaze snapped towards you as you casually mentioned not caring about them. He couldn't help but feel a small bit of jealousy rise up again from that. He hated this feeling.
"I know…it's just annoying, all of it. They keep saying how you're ‘perfect’ and everything else.. they're right though.." He muttered under his breath.
“Wait did you just-”
"…did I do what?"
He glanced back at you, he was trying to keep a stiff upper lip with the way his cheeks were burning. He didn't want to admit it, he didn't want to say what he really meant.
“Did you just agree with them..?”
He sighed as he leaned on the railing once more. If this was a different situation he would give an answer in a snarky tone but with that small amount of jealousy he couldn't manage it.
"..yes."
“So that means..”
"It means what?!"
He grumbled as he felt his cheeks getting a little bit hot. He didn't want to admit anything, but his emotions were betraying him.
“You know..”
Law couldn't help but feel a little bit red from how obvious it was getting. He sighed as his gaze went back towards the waters below, the sun setting in the distance made everything a little more romantic and pleasant.
"…yeah. I do."
“Then confess to me properly.”
"…are you serious?"
He raised an eyebrow at you, maybe he wasn't hearing this properly. He was already surprised you had a pretty good clue on how he felt about you, so he didn't think you'd actually want him to say it.
“Come on, there is no point in hiding it.”
"I…"
He had to clear his throat, he had always been a very stoic and calm one so he didn't like how much you were making him stutter. But you were right, it was pretty obvious how he felt about you. He didn't need to hide anything.
"I like you." He muttered quickly, waiting for you to say something to his confession.
“..and I like you back.”
Law was taken aback by you saying those words back to him. He had been expecting a "Sorry" or a "no" but not an "I like you back" he was stunned into silence for a minute, trying to gather his thoughts.
"You…you feel the same way about me?" He asked as he looked at you, surprised and hopeful that you did.
His cheeks heated up as he couldn't believe what he was hearing. He was overjoyed to hear you say such things to him. He had liked you for so long and it had been obvious to everyone else how much he was into you. Hearing you liked him back was something he had always dreamed out.
~~~
The End~
(This took soo long to make and I’m super happy with it.) ᕙ(⇀‸↼‶)ᕗ Consider Following..?
Thank you for reading.
part 2 is here
Up until you met a certain someone, your soulmate, your world was always destined to forever be in shades of grey, and black and white. It was a relatively uncommon experience for anyone to meet their soulmate on the Luofu. With most people choosing to stay on the ship for their entire lives, there was no way to get out into the galaxy and meet your other half. You had met a very small number of people who had met their soulmate on the ship. They were very fond of talking about how beautiful the world was, now that it was bathed in color. Everything was so exciting and new, they always had this sort of sparkle around them as they spoke. You tried to be happy for them, you really did, but the things they spoke about always went over your head. You were a simple mechanic, you were sure you’d never experience the joys they spoke of. Nobody paid attention to the likes of you.
A power line being down on a civilian street was practically unheard of on the Luofu. If there were issues with the power supply, it was always within the depths of the ship that you and your team of mechanics, along with countless others were intimately familiar with.
It was easy to hide away from the prying eyes of the people, being heralded as silent heroes who saved the ship from little disasters while remaining unseen. That’s how a portion of the Luofu civilians saw people who worked in your position. A larger number of them regarded lowly mechanics as untouchables, and not in a good way. It made you scoff, you were the ones responsible for keeping the ship they lived on intact, and that was the thanks they gave you? It wasn’t fair for them to look down on you, but they’d never understand the hardships you had to go through to live this life. They could shove their opinions elsewhere, you thought, and left it at that. They should really be grateful now, here you were, in plain sight. Aurum Alley’s power supply had been cut off when a group of young adults were inappropriately, and dangerously, playing with a firearm one of their comrades had bought and was showing off, in the street and it misfired. The situation was quickly brought to the attention of the Cloud Knights and they took control of the area, calling for a mechanic squad to quickly resolve the power issue right away.
You were grateful nobody had been hurt, but were angry at the carelessness of the young people who had caused this disruption. Thankfully it would be an easy fix, this was a very short section of wire and tubing that needed to be replaced, but it was in a high place. The hole in the side, and the burnt smell of plastoid wafted down the street as you and the team made your way to the job. You guys hadn’t been on a job when the call had been made, so it was yours. Your team began to gear up to fix the issue, but you were given the most attention. You were the best at handling jobs that required you to go up on the crane arms, you were the steadiest of them all. You clipped on your harness and motioned for the crane to raise you up. Soon you were standing on top of the arm. You frowned. This was one of the older models of arms, and it didn’t have a railing. You looked down at your comrades, who were setting up their equipment to shut this section of the line down for sure, so you wouldn’t potentially get electrocuted removing the line. You made eye contact with Jinshui, one of your close friends on the team. He gave you a thumbs up and smiled. You nodded and gave him a thumbs up in return, tugging on your harness to ensure it was secure and got to work.
Could you have gotten a more awful crane to stand on? This one was terrifying, it creaked when you moved and at one point you could have sworn it shifted under your weight. You were sweating in your uniform, less from the heat of the shining artificial sun, but from the stress of being up so high on a shitty machine. Your palms were sweaty inside your gloves and you took them off to wipe them on your pants.
“Is everything ok?” Jinshui called up to you. You turned your head to look down at him, afraid to turn your entire body.
“This stupid crane moves whenever I do. I’ll finish the job the best I can, but it’s making me nervous.” You replied and bent down to pick up your tools. The weight change on top of the crane made it shift and the head toppled off. You were falling towards the ground with it, facing up towards the sun. Air rushed past you as you fell, helpless. The line your harness was attached to was slack, until it tightened as it ran out of line, yanking you back violently. It gave you whiplash, but ultimately stopped your fall. You were suspended in the air, only hanging on by your harness. You gripped the safety line and looked down in horror, nausea causing your stomach to turn. You heard shouts below you but what they were saying didn’t register. You looked into the crowd gathered below, to the side of where the site had been blocked off. Lots of horrified eyes stared up at you dangling helplessly. You scanned the crowd, and something strange began to happen when you met a particular pair of eyes.
Slowly, as if a piece of film was being pulled away from your eyes, what you could only guess was color, began to fill your vision. The bright colors on the street, and the sun reflecting off of the shiny metal made your eyes water, but you didn’t look away from the stranger. They had light colored eyes, you didn’t know what to call it, and very light hair in a long flowing ponytail. They were tall, towering over most of the crowd and were wearing armor that shone in the sun. You closed your eyes as you recognized the General of the Luofu, staring up at you. His expression became grim, and he finally broke eye contact, turning away and heading down the street away from the commotion. You barely registered that your team had started to bring you down safely from your perch with a winch, you helplessly watched the general go until he disappeared into the crowd.
Jingshui immediately approached you, his hands extended and tone gentle, as if you were a wounded animal that needed soothing.
“A doctor is here to see you. It looked like you got jerked pretty badly by the line, so I figured it would be good if someone took a look at you…”
You just nodded and sat down where he gently guided you and someone began to examine you. You heard her speaking, but your mind was too in shock to hear what she was saying. You were overstimulated by the sights in front of you. Your brain was unsure how to process so much visual information and it hurt. You closed your eyes and rested your head against the wall, its cool stone soothing your skin. General Jing Yuan was your soulmate and you couldn’t tell anyone about it. You sighed and shifted your position. The stone brick dug into your skin. It would definitely leave a mark.
“I’m just tired.” You said out loud, to anyone who may be listening. You weren’t sure if anyone had been speaking to you at this point, but the ringing in your ears seemed to have calmed for now. The doctor looked startled at your sudden exclamation, her tail bristling slightly, but nodded in response.
“According to your friend, your supervisor has given you some time off. He sent the details to your phone. Please use the time you have to get some well deserved rest.” She shot you a serious look as she packed up her bag and began to leave the site. You sighed again and pulled out your phone, checking your messages. You squinted at the screen, it was far too bright and colorful for you at the moment. There were several messages from Jingshui, and one from your boss. He did, in fact, give you time off. A generous 3 days. You imagined you would spend that time brooding over the fact that you would most likely never have a relationship of any kind with your soulmate. And that thought hurt more than the occasional twinge in your neck.
Your minor injury recovered within the three days you had off, and you were cleared by a doctor, deemed healthy enough to begin work again. Your teammates were happy to see you, welcoming you back with open arms. Luckily your first day back was only filled with light repairs. It didn’t strain your body at all, and you were grateful. Those three days had been boring, full of nothing but endless thinking. You had wondered countless times what would happen if you reached out to the general. Would he respond favorably, or would he push you away? You didn’t know, and had no way of knowing. This ate you up inside as you curled up in bed, Jingshui’s contact open. The cursor in the textbox blinked slowly at you. You hesitated, and decided it would be best to tell him in person.
You didn’t need to set up a time to tell him, however, he asked if you wanted to get dinner as you left the last worksite of the day.
“I just want to make sure you're doing ok.” He said with a smile. You returned his smile and made your way to Aurum Alley, chatting about the events of the day, and what you did during your time off. You sat down at the Delicacy Pavilion and ordered Signature Chili Oil Beef Offal Stew. There was a pleasant silence between the two of you as you waited for your food, Jingshui was people watching and you were racking your brain, trying to think of a way to break the news. You decided to just be upfront.
“I um. I have something to tell you. But you can’t tell anyone else about it.” You swallowed thickly and clasped your sweaty palms together, your arms resting on the cool surface of the table. Jingshui turned to you, his expression serious.
“I promise I won’t tell anyone. Your secret is safe with me.”
You sighed and gripped your hands tighter, staring off into the distance. You were so unsure of how to begin. You closed your eyes and looked your friend in the face. Your food had arrived and he had begun to dig in. You felt the heat radiating from the bowl onto your chilled arms. He looked up at you, mouth full of beef. He gestured for you to speak. And so you did.
“Right… This has been eating me up for the past couple of days. Um. I’ve met my soulmate. Well, that’s not true. I’ve only seen them… made eye contact with them.” You wrung your hands as you began to explain your plight to Jingshui unsuccessfully. He raised an eyebrow curiously. You rambled on.
Do you remember how General Jing Yuan was taking a stroll while we were fixing that powerline? There were tons of people looking up at me while I was dangling up in the air, but when I made eye contact with him specifically… my world exploded into color.”
That was an exaggeration, the change was slow. But it felt instantaneous from the shock of being so high up in the air, with no way to help yourself escape.. Jingshui dropped a piece of beef back into his bowl as he looked up at you in shock.
“And you’re certain it was him?!”
“I know it was him. I couldn’t focus on anyone in the crowd other than him. He stood out for some strange reason... And then he left. I don’t know what to do. He’s practically unreachable.” You sighed and began to eat your food. You didn’t feel particularly hungry, your stomach was in knots, but you knew Jingshui would lecture you if you didn’t eat, so you tried anyway. He pinched the bridge of his nose with his free hand and he lowered his chopsticks.
“That's… wow. Do you have a plan to get in contact with him somehow?”
“The only way I could do that is if I get assigned to fix something at the Seat of Divine Foresight… where there’s a slim chance he’ll be there and not out taking a walk. I just… Why did it have to be him?” You rested your head in your hands, sighing heavily. “This has to be a joke from the universe.”
Jingshui shook his head. “Things happen for a reason. Next time there’s a job for someone at the Seat of Divine Foresight, I’ll make sure you get it. You have to try. It’s the least you can do.” His voice was full of determination as he finished off his stew. He swallowed and pointed at you, furrowing his eyebrows. “Don’t give up!”
You nodded and finished your food as well.
“I’ll try.” You promised, feeling uneasy. It was such a long shot that the Seat would need something to be fixed. Hardly anything there broke. But you held onto a small glimmer of hope that something would come up.
It took weeks, but something eventually popped up. The general’s hologram projector was fried and needed to be fixed immediately. True to his word, Jingsui advocated for you to go, but you were sure you wouldn’t be picked. Fixing holograms was not your strong suit, but your dear friend pushed for you to go anyway. You didn’t try to refute his claims of you being the best choice. This was your only chance of making contact with the general, and you both knew it. You could do it. Your team leader sighed and flipped a coin, it was between you and a woman named Zhu Li. You held your breath as the coin flew up into the air and landed in your supervisor's palm. He slapped it onto the top of his other hand and briefly examined it. He looked up and called out your name.
“They will be going to the Seat of Divine Foresight.” He held out a bag of special tools for you to take, while Zhu Li groaned and glared at you from the side. You shrugged and took the tools, your heart pounding in your chest. Your stomach turned with excitement and dread as you began to leave your team’s space. Jingshui smiled and gave you a thumbs up as you passed by him. You smiled weakly and returned the gesture, exiting the room. You got onto the star skiff that would take you to your destination and you patiently waited to arrive there, your mind swirling with possibilities of what could happen. You tried not to dwell on any negative scenarios, it was best not to give up hope before you’d even tried. Just like Jingshui had said all those weeks ago.
You arrived and made your way inside after being cleared by the guards at the front door. Your bag of tools had been pretty self explanatory to them. Your heart caught in your throat as you made your way up the steps inside. The inside of the building was fairly empty, save for the standard array of Cloud Knights and other employees that worked here. You were shown the device that needed fixing by Qingzu, who thanked you for coming on such short notice. You smiled at her, placing your tool bag on the ground, and told her it was no trouble at all. It was your job after all. Before you began to work, you looked through the railing up at the general’s desk. He was not there. Your heart sank in your chest and you bit the inside of your cheek, returning your gaze to the broken projector. You tried to ignore the immense disappointment that settled in your chest like a weight as you opened the machine to see what was wrong. Of course he wasn’t here. You were foolish to think he would be, he spent lots of time outside of his office discussing matters with other Luofu officials.
Some wires had fried inside of the machine. You frowned as you tried to pull them out, marveling at how frayed they had become. Had the protective layer just melted off? You couldn’t tell. The wires were stubborn and refused to come out of their plugs. You got on the ground, shimmying up to the projector on your stomach and reached in to grab the wires from this angle. Your fingers were very close to the power supply. As you yanked on the wires, finally freeing them, a shock jolted your arm, numbing your nerves. You swore and sat up instantly, ignoring the looks that were thrown your way. You hissed and rubbed your hand, exhaling deeply. Your muscles still worked thankfully, although you had no idea when the feeling would return to your arm. You felt someone was standing behind you, causing you to sit up straighter. The hairs on the back of your neck prickled as you felt their eyes on you.
“Sorry about the noise. It was just from a mistake I made. I’ll be out of here soon.” You explained, tone apologetic. If this person were a disgruntled employee, hopefully they would leave you alone for the duration of your project. The person chuckled and walked towards the steps on the right side of the room, allowing you to get a look at them. You froze in place as General Jing Yuan came into view.
“Take all the time you need. I’m in no hurry to play starches any time soon.” His voice was deep, just how you remembered it from all of the addresses he’d made in the past, but his tone was kind. His usual relaxed expression was on his face as he looked at you with slight interest. You cleared your throat and sat up straighter.
“Thank you sir.” Now that he was right in front of you, you had no idea what to say. You gripped the wires in your hand tightly as your mind raced. You never actually thought about a plan of what to say if you actually met him. You cleared your throat again.
“If there are no more issues, it should be fixed in no time.” You turned away, unable to handle the weight of his gaze any longer. He radiated power, and it was intimidating. You scanned your tools and picked up the one you needed next, to open a different hatch inside of the projector. You breathed a sigh of relief when you heard him go up the steps to his desk, shortly followed by the rustling of papers. That went horribly, you thought as you began to repair the projector. There’s no way you could talk to him here. He had work to finish, it was foolish to even entertain the thought of having a meaningful conversation here. Disappointment took root in your heart once more as you swiftly finished repairing the projector. Your time at the Seat of Divine Foresight was finished, and you were still as far away from the general as you had been when you walked in.
You picked up your bag of tools and stood up silently stretching before you left. What a wasted trip this was, your thoughts turned gloomy. Qingzu ordered a star skiff to come get you, she had you come up on the dais and manually type in your destination. Your heart pounded in such close proximity to the general. He was reading a report, completely engrossed in its contents. You finished typing and stepped back from Qingzu’s screen. The general looked up from his report at the movement. Your heart leapt in your chest as he made eye contact with you.
“Leaving so soon?”
You nodded, adjusting your grip on your tools.
“Yes sir, I’ve finished fixing the projector. Hopefully it won’t have any more problems in the future.” Did he want something? It was impossible to tell, he was unreadable.
“Hmm. I have something for you.” Even Qingzu next to you looked shocked as he said this. He took a small piece of paper and wrote something on it, holding it out to you once he finished. His slight smile was present as always. You stepped forward and took the paper, ignoring how your face grew hot as you accidentally brushed your fingers against his. You folded up the paper and stuck it in your pocket.
“Thank you…” You were unsure how to respond, and didn’t have time to. Qingzu informed you that your star skiff had arrived to take you back to work. You turned away from the general’s desk, trying to ignore your flaming cheeks as you walked down the steps and to the front door.
A/N: Hii this is only part one to a longer fic! Please let me know what you think and as always, requests are open! :)
Jason Todd Fics - September 2023
Fics I recommend with a focus on or POV of Jason Todd. Masterpost can be found here.
Key: Has a ship or romantic plot, unfinished, multi-chapter, one-shot
NOTE: some of these do require an AO3 Account to read.
Whisper Closely in My Ear by Kangarou
The words went in one ear, rattled around like bees, before ramming out the other. The doctor was sitting painfully close, only two feet away. The tone of voice implied he was talking louder, not quite a yell but something nearly there; it sounded like a whisper to Jason. So quiet, with every third word unintelligible, except for that first phrase: "Mr Wayne, I'm afraid you're profoundly deaf." --- Jason is profoundly deaf. He learns to cope with it.
An AU in which Jason is deaf. This is one of my favorite Jason fics. I often find myself coming back to it. Its a great character study, introspective and has that delicious kind of hurt you just want to sit with for a while, with a helping dollop of comfort.
Children Will Listen by Parker Avenue
Jason Todd is good at extortion. He's what the adults call a snoop - nobody paid attention to the little kid with the big ears. Without even realizing, adults would hand him the keys to getting what he needed. Jason knew how to collect information, because adults found information valuable. And it was. It was free, easy to get, and easy to carry, so long as he kept his head clear and his facts straight. Jason had information Batman could use. He knew it. He had thought it over all day, sitting on that moldy couch, eating stale saltines. Batman would definitely be interested in the information Jason had. Batman had become scary again, like the old stories Jason used to hear the goons in the area tell. Breaking bones, just barely keeping people alive. Batman didn’t kill, no, but sometimes? Sometimes living was worse, maybe. Jason stayed crouched behind that dumpster, silent, because he simply couldn’t decide if Batman was far gone enough to make a kid wish he was dead. (Jason Todd knows how to get what he wants, and Batman tries to lure him to safety.)
Okay I will admit, my biggest weakness is fics about street kid Jason. Slow adoption got me good. Anyways, this one isn't finished but I love the way the pacing takes its time. Co-parents Bruce and Selina is never a con either!
Stargazer by LemonadeGarden
Jason Todd is seriously injured during patrol one night, and is forced to stay at the manor to recuperate until his injuries are healed. To pass the time, he makes a list of things he never got to do before he died. Except there's one small problem: most of them involve Bruce, and Jason doesn't really think Bruce cares all that much about him anymore. This is a story about how wrong he is, but I made it sad anyway.
I'm sure everyone and their mother has rec'd this fic, but I'm doing it anyways because I love it deeply. If you haven't read it, this is your sign!
Glow in the Dark Stars by essspressso (stylesmakethefight)
“I’m being serious, asshat,” Jason hisses, swatting his hands away from his face. “You have to tell me what year it is.” Nightwing crosses his arms a little petulantly. “It’s 2017. Happy?” Jason freezes, breath catching in his throat. 2017. Five years ago. He was…he was fifteen. “Shit,” he murmurs. He’s going to eviscerate Tim. Or: Red Hood Jason and 15-year-old Jason swap timelines, landing one week before 15-year-old Jason is supposed to die.
Time travel trope + Jason Todd's tragic ass life = amazing fics. Feelings, prepare to be felt! LOTS of Angst. You might even shed a tear. Wonderful fic!
Too Much Fucking Salt by Pez_The_Platypus
A rural housewife instinctively understood the law of quantity into quality. Add a pinch of salt to a soup and it tasted better; add one pinch too many and you ruined the batch. Jason had been in limbo for a year and a half, trusting things would get better even though everything just seemed to be getting worse. It was something small that set him off, but really, it was an accumulation of a lot of things that led to this. He was going to kill the Joker.
A one shot, but a LONG one. This one is very sad, heavy, and bittersweet. Its not Bruce or Dick "bashing", it provides a pretty well rounded and human description of them, which is to say they are not angels. Still, if you love pondering the tragedy of Jason Todd and themes of coping with trauma and the inherent grating sensation of trying to heal, this is a great fic for you.
YOU MUST KNOW LIFE TO KNOW DECAY by orpheusaki
Bruce starts, eyes glaring down at the city and unwilling to look anywhere else, especially in Jason's direction, "You always… hated the rain." Jason's breath gets caught in his throat. (For as long as Jason can remember, it's always been raining.)
Jason angst and character study rooted in comic-accuracy. Great short read!
This Kind of Weather by r_astra
Jason’s at school when his mom dies, and that’s the only reason any of it happens. If he’d been home, if he’d been with her, he would’ve been in the wind before anyone else even knew. Even if they looked, no one ever would’ve found him. He’d have taken to the sewers if that’s what it took, man-eating crocodile guy and all.
Yes, another Jason Todd adoption fic, one in which he does not steal the tires. I have a type and I'm limiting myself to only 2 of the many I love. This one does not have much of a focus at all on the Bat-side of things, just a story of Jason finding a home, much older than in the comics.
A Straight Blade by Sparkypants
"What happened to your face?" Bruce asks, reaching his hand for Jason's jaw. "You're bleeding." Jason bristles, cheeks turning pink. "I cut myself shaving." He says, and wipes at the cut with the cuff of his hoody. Damian makes a clicking noise with his tongue, "I'm amazed you haven't taken your own head off." He snarks. Jason shoves his chair away from the table, temper flaring. "Well it's not like anyone ever taught me, is it." He hisses. He's five years late, but Bruce finally teaches Jason how to shave.
Quick one-shot with feelings. Great little read I often find myself revisiting.
Growing Like a Breeze by WhaleofaTime
April 27th isn't anyone's favorite date, but it's somehow worse than usual today when Bruce gets his car stolen. It's nice of Red Hood to come to his rescue. Nicer even that Jason keeps him company afterwards.
One of those fics that explains everything about why Jason and Bruce's dynamic and relationship is so magnetic to read about. They both suck at feelings and yet make me feel SO MUCH.
Word Count: 3.0k (not proof read)
(there is a song added to the end of this part, I'm going to start adding them to certain ones when they fit as they play while I'm writing)
Azriel begins his time on the continent. He bumps into someone who can't seem to leave him alone...
Part I , Part III
Leaving Velaris behind was a blur in his mind. It was Feyre and Rhysand who had seen him off, Nyx dozing in Feyre's arms as he boarded the boat - winnowing was out of the question considering his state.
He'd said goodbye to everyone else the day before, not really wanting a huge send off when he didn't want to go in the first place. The trip wasn't as long as he'd wished, the weeks passing by like they barely happened. As he spotted the first sign of land in Mother knows how long, Azriel could no longer pretend that his destination was Velaris and that he'd already paid his dues in the foreign land.
Mor had greeted him at the port of a city called Indere. The bustling of fae moving cargo to and from the ships docked was a blur to the shadowsinger as he and Mor walked towards the streets. Her efforts here with the ruling fae had begun to bear fruit. Trade routes beginning to take shape between the most eastern courts of Prythian.
They had begun their trek to the landlocked side of the city when Mor finally decided she'd had enough of idle chat that went unanswered. "Rhys told me what happened. For what it's worth, I am sorry Az."
Azriel looked towards the female he now saw as his sister. It had taken centuries, and Mor's reveal of who she ultimately preferred, but Azriel had been able to accept that his love for her would only ever be enough as a brother's love. And he had been happier for it, to know that there was a familial bond there like his brother's that he could always look to. The pain was gone, and he no longer held onto the pain of it that had suffocated him for as long as he could remember.
But at that moment Azriel wished that he could go back to the time where he was hopelessly in love with her. The pain of knowing he could have her was much more bearable than what he felt now.
Still, he nodded his head, not saying a word and Mor carried on.
"I've learned a lot while being here. It's taken a lot of time to find common ground after everything that's happened. But it's finally becoming worth it. Especially when I've found a lot of fae that remind me of why I'm doing this."
It seemed Mor's words were a beacon when he noticed a flurry of feathers barrel towards the two of them. His hand reached for the blades strapped to his sides, but noticing Mor's easy stance purely rested it on the hilt for easy access should the need arise.
"Mor!" the two watched as the feathers - no, wings - abruptly flared to slow the Fae as they reached them. The young male landed silently and covered the last of the distance between them on his feet, tucking them behind his body.
Azriel took note of the differences between their wings. While his lllyrian ones were dark, leather like skin stretched over taloned membrane, the ones in front of him were feathered, each one a different shade of brown. They looked heavier than his, and he was sure the male in front of him had to lift them constantly so they wouldn't drag across the ground.
"Aodhan, I thought you'd be on your way by now." Mor's mouth turned into a soft smile, the same one he'd seen in the first weeks after Nyx was born.
"I should be, but we forgot to give you this last night." The male - Aodhan - handed her a small package wrapped neatly, a piece of lavender tucked into the strings it was wrapped in. Aodhan turned his attention from Mor to Azriel for the first time, he gaze curious, "Who's this?"
"Oh! This is Azriel, one of my three brothers I told you about." Aodhan nodded in recognition but his attention had strayed from Azriel's face to behind him. "Whoa..."
Azriel turned his head slightly to catch a glimpse of his wings. They twitched slightly under the attention. He should have been used to it, but it was different when someone else sporting the same looked at them for longer than a second. He wondered if Aodhan thought his own feathered ones were better. They were more beautiful to look at.
"Can you fly in the rain?"
"Beg pardon?" Well, that was not what he expected, but Aodhan seemed to wait for an answer, and when none came he repeated himself.
"Yes, so long as the wind allows it." Azriel watched as Aodhan huffed out a breath, almost like he was about to throw a tantrum.
"Damn, wish I could. All these things are good for are back aches and good weather. Sopping wet feathers just drag you down."
Although Azriel thought that would be the end of it, the winged male seemed to only begin with the questions as the three walked in the direction he came from.
"How fast can you fly?... do you get back aches?...Oh, do you have to build shelter or can you just cocoon yourself with your wings?!"
It was never ending, and Mor's discreet giggles meant he'd find no help from her.
"Aodhan, if you don't stop badgering Mor's friend you'll walk the journey home." A voice cut through the jabbering in Azriel's ear. He watched as Aodhan seemed to immediately shut it, and walk towards the direction of his saviour.
A female stood beside a mare saddled for long travels, satchels hung on her back as she trod in anticipation against the ground.
He took in the female, riding leathers covered by a green cloak, hair tied back loosely with a ribbon of the same colour. But what caught his attention were her eyes. It looked as if grey clouds had clouded over any colour, her pupils only a slight shade darker being the only contrast.
There was movement at her feet, and a small feline with fur the brightest oranges and reds he'd ever seen coiled round her in a figure of eight, eyes closed in content until it noticed the new presences. Closely tucking itself between her two legs, the feline watched Azriel warily, looking as if it'd scratch out his eyes if he deigned to wander too close to its master.
"You must be Azriel" her voice was softer than the first time he heard it. It seemed to carry on a light breeze to his ears, and he swore he could feel it flow around every inch if him in a comforting wave.
She offered him her name, turning slightly to stroke the neck of her mount. While her face turned its attention to her interests, Azriel noted the faraway gaze of her eyes, never quite focusing where it was directed. Even now, looking at the mare, it was almost as if she couldn't see-
His intake of breath must have been sharp with how quick everyone looked to him. Never in his long life had he seen someone who looked to be a blind high fae. Lucien had lost his eye to Amarantha, yes, but that was entirely different, and he still had one good one. She seemed to be comfortable in her condition, as if she'd lived her whole life with it, and never known what it was like to miss it.
Embarrassment and shame filled him when he realised what he'd done. Mor slightly turned away, and Aodhan looked ready to snap at him, gone was the curious male he first met and instead a protector stood in his place.
It was her who stepped in before he could make a bigger fool of himself. She walked with steady grace, not a foot unsure of where it stepped and held a hand out in greeting. "I understand its a shock to most who don't know me, so don't worry, I'm not offended."
Azriel looked to her hand and then his own, tanned and scarred and wondered what she'd make of them. Still, whatever weight he held about them he wouldn't turn away her olive branch, and gently grasped her own.
There was no gasp of surprised horror he was so used to by now. Her head tilted, and she brought up her other hand to trace the top of his while the other did the same to his palm. Warm, nimble fingers passed over each indent, mapping them, memorising each dip and curve and the contrast in scarred tissue to the flesh that remained.
It was tender, knowing, and Azriel felt so much in that one touch that he had to slightly pull to free his hand from a grasp like nothing he felt before. Even Elain, who had gazed at his hands and touched them more times than he could count, had never poured that much thought into the action. She would always have that look in her eyes as she did, of wanting to undo what had been done, and bring back unmarred flesh he couldn't even remember having. This female, Mother help him, had touched his hands like they had always been maimed, and held no remorse for what never could be again.
"Welcome to Indere. Mor's told me you'll be staying for while" His head snapped to his sister, shock at her easy reveal of information to someone she barely knew compared to those back in Velaris. He didn't know how much she had unveiled, and hoped that she'd kept the reason for his visit to herself. "For a while, yes. We thought it was time someone joined her." He watched them to see their reaction, his shadows that had been settled in the darkness of his wings thrummed in anticipation of being freed into the new world of secrets ripe for the taking. There was no sign of them knowing he'd spun the truth into a lie. Rhysand had sent him to check on Mor more closely, but it was secondary to him getting away from Prythian for a while.
"Well, I hope you enjoy your time here. It was lovely to meet you, but we've got to start the journey back home." Azriel matched her nod of farewell, and watched as she swung herself up into the saddle. The feline that had not moved since he had arrived began to slowly prowl as she readied to leave. How it was going to keep up with the speed of her mare left the shadowsinger perplexed.
Mor reached her side, and whispered her goodbyes. The only thing stopping their departure was Aodhan's unmoving stance, seemingly caught up in thought.
"Aodhan?" her questioning tone brought the male out of stupor, and a gleam shone over his face as he looked between Azriel, Mor and his companion. "Azriel, have you ever celebrated Samhain?"
It turned out today was just one big headache for Azriel as he tried to understand why Aodhan asked him such a question. "I can't say it's a big festival in Prythian no."
Aodhan's reason to laugh was something only privy to himself. Turning to Mor, the glint never left his eyes, "I think I found a solution to your little problem."
"They're from an island called Inis Gaoithe, it's north of the continent, and the swelling ocean surrounding it makes it impossible to cross by boat." Mor's words passed over him, but he still didn't grasp what she was trying to tell him.
The four of them had moved into a tavern not far from the road the two had initially went to start their journey. Ale sat in the tankard in front of himself and Aodhan, while the two ladies sipped from their glasses of wine, the feline curled up beside its master. It was Aodhan who took up the mantle of explaining, "It's part of an archipelago of Islands, ours is the largest of four, but they're all home to muintir na lasrach, a species of fae born from the pheonix."
Azriel scoured his mind for information about the pheonix, and the supposed fae that came from them. Pheonix hadn't been born in millenia, the last being recorded dead long before he was born. There was no mention of any fae like the ones mentioned, at least not in the records of Prythian. "I've never heard of anything like this before."
"It's not uncommon for people not to know of us. We've kept to ourselves for centuries, even during the first war with Hybern we played a very minor role, we didn't have the numbers to supply a great deal of support, especially with the rest of the continent on the fence of who to ally with." Her voice cut through his mind, even and calm. Aodhan had been vibrating with energy since they'd begun their explanation.
"What's the reason for telling me all of this?" He didn't know why but he directed his question to her instead of the other two. She took a drink from her glass before she continued. "I met Mor in the first few weeks of her arrival, and her work intrigues me. Our islands are cut off from the rest of the world for a long time, and I think we should entertain the idea of opening the borders. But, there's a slight problem. We have -" he voice stopped as she tried to find the right words, "criteria... for fae that are not of phoenix blood to visit the island. One of those being that they must be born with wings."
Aodhan's fluttered slightly at the mention. "Mor, unfortunately, is not included in that, and it makes it even more difficult for the chiefs to even begin entertaining the idea of a foreign visitor."
Azriel mulled over their words for an amount of time, but something wasn't adding up in his mind. He turned to address the problem. "So, what about you? Last I checked, there are no wings sprouting from your back."
It was the second time Aodhan reacted badly to Azriel that day. Whatever novelty he had built up with the other male was growing thin. "Don't you fucking dare ask something like tha-"
The call of his name stopped him short of lashing out any further. As she spoke, Azriel felt the foolishness begin to creep into his mind once more. "You're right to ask, I'd be concerned if you hadn't. Aodhan is my son, so you can think of me as an extension of him."
Speechless didn't begin to cover the way Azriel felt. They looked nothing alike, polar opposites in every way. And yet the certainty in her eyes, the unwavering pride she held in her tone as she spoke of him like that left no room for question. Aodhan's outburst had been warranted, for him to talk of his mother in such a way, to be suspicious of her explanation- Azriel for once felt drowned by the lack of knowledge he possessed.
"I'm sorry, for accusing you of.. well- I'm sorry." She shook her head, seeming to have already forgiven him before he had even asked. Aodhan. Not so much.
They resumed talking, Mor filling him in on how she had been sending letters to and from the archipelago for weeks now with no word of breaking through their strict rules. But with Azriel's arrival and his basic anatomy, well, the task began to seem much more doable in a shorter amount of time.
The four of them went their separate ways as the sun began to set, the others extending their stay for a day to allow him time to dissolve the information and come to an answer.
He and Mor walked back along the port, to the inn she had been staying at prior to his arrival. "I know this isn't what you were sent here for. But I think working on something like this will do you some good. Rhys means well, but you know he can sometimes be looking in the wrong direction for solutions."
He didn't answer, and hadn't really all day when it came to her. The distraction of the task in front of him was a welcome surprise. He hadn't had time since he met the two fae to think of what happened, too much information was still swirling that his mind had no extra space to be occupied by the pain.
"I'll cover for you, of course. They've agreed to allow letters to be sent in and out to my person, and I can pass them on to Velaris so the busybodies at home won't become suspicious ."
Azriel knew he had already decided before any of this. He'd go to Inis Gaoithe, open the borders and prove to Rhys and Feyre and everyone that he was worth something, some kind of recognition. The glint in his eyes must have been telling by the hand on his arm as Mor stopped him. "This isn't a succeed or fail mission Az. These fae, they've isolated themselves for reasons I don't know. They're happy, peaceful and refuse to have anything to do with our world anymore. I just want to try, to show them that we can create a world where everyone belongs..."
He looked at his sister, the woman he used to be so helplessly in love with, and sighed. "I know, I know. But I'm not going to half ass it at the same time. If I can find an opening, I'll take it, no matter what." Her smile was knowing, and she laughed under her breath. "I know you won't Az, you can't do anything with half a heart. It's what we love about you." He knew she wasn't just talking about Inis Gaoithe, or his work as the Shadowsinger.
But his heart was still torn and fractured, and the words barely made a dent, never mind trying to stitch it back together. Azriel wanted to be worth the love he so desperately craved to feel. He'd be the reason for something good in the world, and not just for secrets and dark dark deeds that kept everyone safe from the shadows.
He'd be worth the outward love that shone on those who walked in the sunlight, and not in the shadows like him. He just needed to prove it.
“I mean, I don’t know, Mando,” Peli replied, hands defiantly planted on her hips. “What did you think I meant?”
“I thought I might have been mistaken,” he said. “Because I didn’t think you would let my son out of your sight long enough for him to wander off!”
“It doesn’t take that long….”
“He’s half a meter tall!” He snapped. “How fast could he be!”
“He’s quick!”
He paused and took a deep breath, trying to ignore the rising panic in his blood.
“You really have no idea where he might have gone,” Din said. “No one could have come in here and taken him.”
“No one’s been in here,” she said before she paused, frowning. “Well… there was one customer who was looking for someone to fix his speeder…”
“Do you know where he was going?” Din asked. He tried not to think about some stranger wandering off with Grogu in their arms, taking him away to trade to the Empire or who knows what.
“I think toward the marketplace,” she said. “He mentioned a farm outside of town, where the speeder was. He was going to tow it in…”
Din didn’t wait for her to continue. He set off, forcing himself to move slowly enough that he could scan the ground for any sign of Grogu. But there was no flash of green, no little clawed footprints in the sand - the area too heavily trafficked - not even a trail of things he shouldn’t be trying to get is small hands on left abandoned when something else that was bright or shiny caught his eye.
He kept running and searching, not apologizing for smacking into people or grabbing them roughly to see if what they held in their arms was, in fact, a bag and not his child. He was getting uncomfortably close to a panic - heart pounding, breaths short and shallow, head swimming - when he saw him, Grogu’s small, green body in unfamiliar arms, held close to a plush body.
“Grogu!” Din stalked over to you, all but ripping the child away from you as he looked him over. “Are you OK?”
“Hey!” You grabbed Grogu back and Din’s attention shifted from his son to you, his fists clenched. But instead of reaching to take back the kid or hit you, he froze. He wasn’t sure what he was expecting but it wasn’t… you. You were beautiful, almost shockingly so. There was something just so soft about you. Everything on Tatooine was rough and harsh, a lifetime of sand and twin suns and arid heat wore down people and buildings and ships quickly. But not you. You were like a flower that had somehow fought its way up through the sand, lush and bright and full.
“Do you know this man, little guy?” You considered Grogu carefully, a small frown on your face as you propped the boy on your hip, one of your fingers tightly grasped in his little hand. “Or is he a stranger?”
“Patu!” Grogu said, throwing his tiny arms out for Din, straining and reaching for him.
You laughed a little and looked at Din properly then, a smile on your face.
“Sorry about that,” you said, handing Grogu over. “He just toddled over to my stand a few minutes ago, I wasn’t sure where he came from and I couldn’t understand anything he was saying. I didn’t want someone just taking him…”
Grogu reached for Din’s helmet, cooing and babbling, gesturing to you before looking back to Din, his dark eyes wide.
“Thank you,” Din said eventually. “He can be a handful…”
“I can tell,” you laughed. “He ate a few things off my stand and he was only here a few minutes!”
“Oh,” DIn said quickly, fumbling for the pouch with his credits. “Let me…”
“Oh, no,” you said quickly. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that you needed to pay! Really, it’s fine. I’m just happy I was able to help him get back to where he belongs.”
You just stood there, the smile on your face slipping a bit as Din stared at you. Like an idiot. He knew he was staring like an idiot and he couldn’t seem to bring himself to stop.
“Is… is everything OK?” You were frowning a little now. “I promise, I didn’t hurt him or…”
“Mando!” Peli ran up alongside him, panting a little before doubling over, planting her hands on her knees. “Stars, just a second… Some of us aren’t used to running like that…”
“Here,” you said, reaching behind your stand for a canteen and offering it to Peli. Din noticed what you were selling for the first time, fresh fruit piled high in baskets on display. “This might help, the suns are brutal today.”
“You’re tellin’ me,” she said, gulping the water down and standing up straight again before handing the canteen back to you. “Thanks for that. Looks like you’re the one who found our little friend here!”
“Oh, I didn’t know he was yours, Peli!” You said. “When did you get a youngling?”
“He’s not mine, but I keep tellin’ Mando he should just leave the kid with me…”
“And look what happened when I did,” Din cut her off. “Five minutes and you let him wander off…”
“It’s not like he got into trouble!” She waved him off. “He just found the sweetest stand in Mos Eisley because he’s so smart, yes he is! Just the smartest little guy! Appreciate you looking out for him, can’t let this cutie run off with just anyone.”
“It was no trouble,” you replied. “He was a nice way to mix up my day!”
“Patu!” Grogu said, reaching for you. You laughed and Din sighed before passing the child off to you.
“Have any plans later?” Peli asked. “The kid likes you, you should come by. Have to get time in with the little one when you can, Mando never sticks around for very long.”
“Well that’s too bad,” you said, bouncing Grogu on your hip but looking at Din. “Always nice to get pleasant folk here in town. But sure, I’ll come by once I close up. Maybe bring him some snacks for the road, would you like that little one?” Grogu cooed and clapped his little hands. You nuzzled his cheek. “I’ll see you later, buddy. Going to give you back to your daddy now.”
You passed the child to Din and gave him another smile before saying your quick goodbyes to Peli. Din kept looking Grogu over, like he was expecting to find something wrong with him, as he and Peli made their way back to her hanger. He had to resist the urge to look back at you.
“You’re sure she’s OK to be around the kid?” He asked, finally satisfied that his son was, in fact, safe and whole in his arms.
“Her?” Peli looked at him like he was insane. “Of course she is, you think I’d let someone around the kid who wasn’t safe? Besides, meant it when I said it’s the sweetest stand in Mos Eisley. It’s not just because of the fruit, if I didn’t know she was from here I’d say she was some naive off-worlder with how sweet she is. Probably how she wound up in the situation she’s in.”
Din frowned.
“What situation.”
“She’s stuck working for the Hutts,” Peli said. “When her father died a few years back - sweet guy, just like her. He built the greenhouses she grows all that fruit in - she didn’t have the money to pay for protection. Next thing she knew, they trashed one of her greenhouses and the moisture vaporator. She still hasn’t been able to fix it all, just about every credit she makes goes to the Hutts so they don’t take anything else.” Peli sighed and shook her head. “Tried to warn her…”
Din ground his teeth, looking back over his shoulder toward your stand. How could anyone prey on someone like you? Someone so soft and sweet and beautiful and…
He shook himself mentally. He was not going to stand there and think about you, even though you’d sent a shockwave through him, sparking a kind of want he hadn’t felt in years. It would be so easy to picture it, gently pulling the linen from your body, running his hands - bare, not gloved - over every inch of your plush curves, sinking into the soft, welcoming warmth of you.
“Has anyone tried to help,” Din asked. “With the Hutts?”
“I mean, maybe not her specifically, but,” Peli shrugged. “Not like people pay up because they want to, Mando. People have pushed back. It never goes well. Short of taking down the whole operation? No help for it. But that’s life, eh?”
Din nodded once, holding Grogu a little closer.
You came by a few hours later, a small basket of fruit propped on your hip and a smile on your face even though your eyes looked distracted.
“Here you go,” you broadened your smile as you handed the basket to the Mandalorian. “I thought he might like some more. These were what he was eating most of earlier. What’s his name, anyway?”
“Thank you,” Din said. “And his name is Grogu…”
“Stupid name!” Peli called from another room.
“No it’s not!” You called back before looking at the child. “It’s a good, strong name. Perfect for you, hm?”
“Patu,” Grogu said, his tone serious. You smiled.
“Thought so,” you said.
You stayed for dinner - a barely passable soup that you were kind enough to pretend to enjoy - and played sabacc with Din and Peli. Grogu climbed into your lap and you splayed the cards out in front of him, his little hand reaching out to touch them.
“See, this is a good hand,” you said, leaning in to whisper into his large ear. He kid stretched forward and smacked his hand on one of the cards. “Good pick, that’s a high value card, a whole 10 points…”
“You’re making it easy to beat you,” Peli said, smirking across the table.
“Can’t lose when you’ve already won,” you replied. “And which one of us has the youngling in their lap? That would be me.”
“You’re just new,” Peli waved you off. “He’ll be back to me eventually.”
“We’ll see about that,” you kissed his little head. “I’ll just keep plying him with fruit, keep him on my good side.”
“Patu!”
“Exactly,” you said, and Din was so distracted picturing you aboard the Razor Crest with his son on your lap that he forgot it was his turn.
As the evening wound down and you got ready to leave, Din had almost convinced himself that he could let you go. It was the only logical choice, after all. You barely knew each other. Just because you were beautiful and gentle and looked like you might be the softest thing he’d ever touch didn’t mean that you belonged anywhere near him. The opposite, in fact. The life he led would be no good for you, it was useless even day dreaming about what couldn’t be.
You said your goodbyes to him, Peli and Grogu and Din had the unfamiliar ache of longing in his chest as he watched you go, staring at the doorway you’d left through for a few seconds too long.
“Aw kriff,” Peli groaned. “She left her shawl and I’m wasn’t planning to go to the market tomorrow…”
“Here,” Din said before he could think better of it, taking the linen wrap from Peli’s grasp. “I’ll catch her. Watch the kid for a minute. And actually watch him this time.”
“Yeah yeah,” she waved him off before turning her attention to Grogu. “Is your dad just a big shiny menace? Huh? Yeah, I bet he is…”
He thought he was going to have to track you to catch up with you but, instead, he found you standing in the middle of Peli’s hanger, staring up at the night sky. Stars sparkled over your head, the light reflecting in your eyes, and Din could see the streaks of ships leaving the atmosphere as they shot into the galaxy. You had that distracted look on your face, one worn by people with problems that took time - and muscle - to solve.
“You forgot this,” Din said, holding the shawl out and making you jump.
You laughed a little.
“Thanks,” you said. “I’m not sure where my mind has been lately.”
You looked back up at the stars, wrapping yourself in the shawl, and sighed in a sad, longing way.
“What are they like?” You asked, still looking up. “The stars. From up there, I mean.”
“Far away,” Din said.
You laughed again.
“Don’t I know it. Part of why I’ve never made it off-world…”
Din frowned.
“You’ve never left Tatooine?”
You glanced at him, a sad smile on your face before looking back to the stars.
“Never had the chance,” you said. “But I hope I will, some day. But… doubt I ever will.”
You looked at him for a moment, your eyes finding his below the vizor.
“Well, it was good to meet you,” you said. “Take care of that youngling of yours, he’s too sweet to let anything happen to him…”
You started to leave but he stopped you, his hand shooting out and catching you at your elbow, the contact with you like an electric jolt running through his body. You gasped at it, looking to where he was touching you before looking toward his face again.
“Mando…” Your voice was quiet, breathy.
“Do you really want to leave?” He asked before he could stop himself.
“Yes,” you whispered. “I want to see some of the galaxy, I want to do something I love, I want a life, a life I can’t have here.”
He could feel it then, a chance at the life he’d pictured, one that had you there with him and his son.
“Come with me,” he said.
“What?” You laughed a little. “Mando, we just met…”
“I can get you out of here,” he said, ignoring you. “Make sure the Hutts never bother you again.”
Your eyebrows knitted together.
“Did Peli…”
“Does it matter?” He asked. “I’m offering you a chance to see the stars.”
“With you?” You asked, your eyes finding his below the visor and he had the thought, again, of undressing you, of touching you, of feeling you in a way he’d never allowed himself to feel anyone else.
“Yes,” he said.
“And Grogu?”
“Yes. We can leave tonight, now, if you want it.”
You looked up at the stars again, the soft sparkle of their far away light shining on your skin.
You looked back at him.
“I want it,” you said quietly. “I want all of it.”
Din smiled below the helmet.
“Then let’s go.”
In search of freedom (Ch. 3)
Tumblr media
3. A change of heart
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chapter 2 ; Chapter 3 ; Chapter 4
⠀⠀⠀⠀She's been searching for freedom her entire life and everytime she thought it was laying right in front of her eyes, she was mistaken. She was running around the East Blue, seeking herself and her dreams, meeting people she never forgot. No matter how much she traveled, she could only catch a glimpse of peace before realizing everything would crumble at her feet.
⠀⠀⠀⠀Maybe it was destiny that brought her on that ship with three strangers — foolishly, that's what she tried to believe when the moon shined beautifully and hope settled in her chest, squeezed by the same ribcage where feelings were blooming.
Pairing: female!reader x OPLA Zoro Roronoa.
Warnings for this chapter: anxiety, tarot readings, canon typical violence, tension, mutual pining
Word count: 8k (um? It wasn't supposed to be that long, but I'm not unsatisfied at all)
Theme song: “Hoist the colors” by Bobby bass (click on the link)
A/N: I tried my best to add Zoro's perspective in this part. I don't know if I did a good job or not, but I'm experimenting with writing specific characters and personalities. I think I understand him a tad bit more than I did last time — in case you haven't noticed, I love psychoanalyzing my favorite characters and Zoro is one of them. The last chapter felt quick paced because of the fight, but this one is slow paced; I wanted to stretch the tension that way.
The reader is referred to as "Witch" because I have no intentions of using "Y/N".
I'm open for comments and opinions <3
"He has quite the bounty on his head," the witch commented as she looked at Buggy's wanted poster.
Zoro's fingers gripped tighter at the hilt of his white sword after he huffed.
"I should've killed him."
"And how were you supposed to be paid for it when you're a wanted man yourself?" Luffy laughed at him.
Another huff left the swordsman's lips and he averted his eyes with a scowl.
"I guess that's also right."
He tore the poster from the wall and squeezed it in his fingers, the paper getting destroyed right in front of his eyes.
"Stupid clown," he muttered.
A light chuckle got his attention; the witch who stood with her arms crossed right next to him didn't seem lively at all. Ever since they stepped on land in the Syrup Village, color drained from her face and she was constantly fidgeting and playing with her fingers. It was weird; the swordsman didn't spend much time with the other three, but they weren't impossible to read.
She didn't seem the type to be so awfully quiet. She had smart comments sitting on the tip of her tongue and it wasn't necessarily hard to make her smile; if anything, Luffy's smile was so contagious and it influenced her greatly, Zoro observed. The straw hat wasn't the only one in that situation — each one of them was. The witch somehow knew what to say and how to treat them, how to approach a topic.
Maybe that's why she was called a witch. For the life of it, Zoro didn't like to read between the lines and his usual blunt personality drew people away because they misinterpreted it as rudeness. Did he care? Not really. So why did he suddenly think too much about it? Why was he thinking of ways to get a word out of her mouth?
The woman his eyes were fixated on didn't hear Nami when she appeared, coming back to earth only after Luffy nudged her side with his elbow.
"Let's go find a ship."
She only nodded and followed along, burying one hand in the pocket of her pants. He saw when she bought a pocket knife from a stand and hid it. Zoro guessed her fingers were always curled around the knife for safety reasons, even if her fear seemed irrelevant — nothing was suspicious in that village.
They were the only suspicious people around there. A navigator who is a thief, a green-haired tall man with three swords attached to his hip, a pirate who wore a straw hat and a beautiful witch.
Beautiful, indeed, even if that word alone didn't do the woman enough justice. Not only the way she looked was pretty, but the way she carried herself, how stable she was on her feet, the sparkle in her eyes, the taunting mischief of her gentle smile.
A smile that has been gone for half of a day, now replaced by anxiety. Even a blind man could see the unsettling feeling she was carrying.
Zoro didn't realize when he took the opportunity of looking at her hair bouncing with each step after he chose to walk behind them all. He shook his head and shoved his hands into the pockets of his pants, moving his gaze away. His mind shouldn't be wandering on useless things.
Nami stopped in her tracks once they reached the dock.
"We don't need something flashy, we have to sneak it out of here without anyone noticing."
"You mean we're gonna steal a ship?" Luffy furrowed his eyebrows.
"Yes?" the navigator frowned. "Wasn't that obvious already? How else are we gonna get a ship?"
"We can ask for one!" he beamed.
"So you think that just talking with someone would bring us a ship?"
The witch only sighed and shook her head at the other two's argument.
"Fine," Nami gave in after looking for too long at Luffy's puppy eyes. "But if it doesn't work, we do it my way."
"Deal."
Instantly, he walked away in search of a ship.
"So, what's the actual plan?" Zoro asked nonchalantly.
"You two look around and see how lax the security is around here. I'm gonna look for a ship and if we have enough luck, we will bribe Luffy into stealing one."
"I wish you luck," the swordsman smirked.
That's how they split up, Nami heading in a different direction while the witch walked straight up ahead with one hand still in her pocket. He approached her after a few long steps, merely looking at her from the corner of his eyes.
"If you keep walking around so stiff, people will guess we have something to hide."
"The only thing I have to hide is a pocket knife. On the other hand, you have three swords and no one looked at you suspiciously yet."
Finally, she said full phrases. However, there was no change in her expressionless face.
"What's up?" he fully turned his head towards her.
"Hm?"
Those beautiful eyes looked up at him curiously.
"Is someone suspicious?" he asked.
"No, just the air."
Once again, she turned her face away before he was able to read what she was hiding. It didn't seem like something big or dangerous, but she was definitely acting shady.
On top of it all, she wasn't exactly paying attention to her surroundings, since she didn't notice the two marines walking around the corner. Zoro wrapped an arm around her middle and placed a palm over her mouth, shoving the both of them between two buildings.
Her fingers grasped at his wrist and if she wouldn't have reminded herself to let go of the knife, she could've cut him.
"You could've just warned me," she whispered to him after she moved his hand away.
They both noticed their situation way too late. Her back was pressed against his chest and his arm was holding her securely next to him. His fingers burned her skin even through the large shirt she was wearing. The air got knocked out of her lungs and for a moment, she remembered the second reason for her unsteady feelings — him. The pirate hunter she didn't like thinking of because it was better that way.
When Zoro noticed the marines went away, he let go of her, even if too slowly. He let his suspicions get the best of him.
"What are you hiding?"
The witch — who just grabbed at his arm to move it away —  was in that moment frozen on the spot.
"Nothing important."
From behind her, he couldn't see the way she frowned.
"You're like a walking ball of anxiety."
"I told you, it's just a shift in the air. Nothing important," she gritted her teeth, getting irritated.
Why was she distant? Did she think he wouldn't believe in her intuition? — that's what she'd probably call it.
She moved away after what felt like years, but her shoulders relaxed. It seemed like she figured out God-knows-what.
"I don't like the energy. It feels like I'm gonna die soon."
"Did you see a black cat?"
"No, I feel something crawling up my throat."
She resumed her walking and he kept up with her for the second time that day.
"Everything seems fine. I saw only those two marines and they were awfully relaxed," Zoro changed the topic.
"Then, just like Nami guessed, the security isn't exactly top class," the witch responded.
They walked around in silence, spotting Luffy on a ship with a goat figurehead. The swordsman could see the happiness bouncing around the straw hat who just called out at them.
"Guys! I found it!"
"Did you think for more than two seconds before choosing it?" the witch arched her eyebrow, amused.
"Actually, one glance was enough to know this was the perfect ship for us."
"Why am I not surprised you were right?" Nami sighed.
"He will sell it to us," Luffy pointed at a young man who walked behind him.
"Um, actually, this is not for sale," he tries to smile, rubbing at the back of his neck in embarrassment.
His golden-brown skin glistened in the early sun rays, which most probably meant he was working on something.
"And I'm not a salesman," he added. "But my friend owns this ship."
•┈┈┈•┈┈┈•┈┈┈
They found out his name was Usopp and the friend he was talking about was a girl who was celebrating her coming of age on that day. Kaya not only invited them to dinner, but insisted they could sleep over, considering they were “Usopp's friends”. The witch was still getting used to being called a friend or comrade, since she doesn't remember the last time that word was met with serious intentions.
The girl's mansion was… big. It was like a labyrinth and even if Zoro was bad at directions, she thought it started to rub off on her the moment she walked towards the dressing room after taking a bath. The lights weren't particularly bright and the sun was setting by that time. The curtains were tied together, leaving space for the warm golden lights to bathe the hallways.
Mystery clung to each artifact and painting. It was beautiful, yes, but there was a certain aura of that place that unsettled her.
Not to mention the staff — she never thought it would come a day when she'd say “these people are weird”. For the past two years she's been traveling alone around the Blue East and she met dozens of people, one more intriguing than the other. However, that butler was suspicious. She wanted to believe he was just a father figure for Kaya and he was protective of her, but she couldn't.
From the moment when she entered the dressing room — she's surprised she even found it —, she decided to answer some questions of her own.
She shuffled her tarot cards in her hands, meticulously arranging each card that fell, putting them in order. It was confusing her — it was the second time she does the same thing, with the same question in mind, and she received the same ambiguous answer. Why did the cards have to be particularly hard to guess on that day?
She ran her fingers through her hair and ruffled it, accidentally tugging harshly enough to make her frown deepen, but she held back a hiss. Maybe some pain would help her focus, instead of letting her mind waver. Luffy, who sat cross legged on the carpet, just like her, was analyzing her reactions because he had no clue what she was doing.
"What do you see?" he asked in a hushed voice.
"Why are you whispering?" Zoro asked.
The swordsman hasn't moved since he came into the dressing room and sat on a comfortable chair. He flexed his arms when he crossed them over his chest and threw one or two glances at the swords leaning against the armrest.
"I don't know," Luffy whispered again, snapping his head towards him.
She didn't pay attention to them at all. She had to admit that she felt better than an hour ago, before having the opportunity to take a bath, the reason why she was wearing a dressing gown only. It was so soft and the material felt perfect against her flushed skin, her collarbones exposed entirely.
She was completely unaware of the gaze locked on her. The woman had no clue a specific swordsman was thinking more than he usually does. There was an inner battle he couldn't fight by using his three swords style. He occupied himself by focusing on the material things; the carpet was soft.
Just as soft as her body when he glued her back to his chest to avoid those marines.
"What do you think?" Nami smiled proudly after she appeared from behind the room divider.
"You look like Nami," Luffy shrugged.
The witch chuckled at the response. She didn't smile once since she entered that mansion, but she couldn't help her reaction. Instead, she raised her head to the orange-haired woman whose shoulders fell at the answer she received.
After a few seconds of thinking, the witch decided to give her a real opinion:
"It compliments your body, but it isn't necessarily flattering — maybe you can find a few other options?"
Nami nodded, moving around to search for something else.
"I kind of feel bad for Kaya… she must feel lonely in such a big house," Luffy commented.
The witch decided to avoid the conversation, her eyes stuck once again on the few cards splayed over the carpet. She took in a deep breath and then sighed. It made sense, but it didn't feel like a complete answer. She decided to turn the rest of the deck upside down and take the card on the top.
"Dammit," she cussed out.
It confused her even more, so she just put the card back in the deck.
After a minute of spacing out, she managed to focus on the other three in the room.
"Rich people don't feel emotions the same way we do," Nami said flatly.
"She seems kind, though," the witch hesitated as the words left her lips.
"That's a big word," Nami probably rolled her eyes, considering her tone.
"Probably. She seems better than the butler, by the way."
"Have you guys seen him before?" Zoro asked, shifting in his seat.
Immediately, the witch moved her head towards him. He answered a question she didn't even ask and her fears felt validated for a brief second. So he also found that man suspicious.
"No, but I don't like him at all," the witch responded firmly.
"How come you can talk so easily about people you just met? No offense."
Nami was still looking around for a dress when she talked.
"It's not that I'm being judgmental — I can't assume what those people did or not. However, tell me, what about the staff makes you go 'oh, yes, they're good people'?"
"Good point," she pulled her lips together in a straight line. "They're weird."
The shuffling through clothes stopped, which meant Nami found something. Except, it wasn't for her, but for the swordsman who caught the caramel silky shirt that was thrown into his lap.
The witch let out another long exhale and closed her eyes. She hoped she could ground herself in a way or another, despite the unhelpful air surrounding the entire house. It was suffocating and it felt as if there was a heavy press on the crown of her chest, making it hard to breathe.
Seconds passed and the only thing she found in the depths of her thoughts was doubt and uncertainty. Nothing felt right, but she couldn't point out exactly what gave off that kind of aura. Slowing down her breathing didn't help either.
By the time she gave up and huffed, Nami and Luffy were out of the room. She saw the glimpse of a red silky dress pooling around someone's legs. Said person was Nami, surely.
A dress. Maybe it would be easier to hide a knife in her thigh holster.
"You're staring at these cards like you're gonna find out something, but I doubt you found anything," Zoro got her attention.
Once again, her fingers gripped at the strands of hair. Putting her confusion into words left a lump in her throat.
"I don't know what's going on and it's annoying. I don't have time for life lessons."
"Going on with what?"
"This entire mansion, maybe?" she looked at him.
His gaze made her skin tingle and she didn't know if she welcomed that foreign sensation or not. Everytime he talked, he managed to get her out of her thoughts, and she was both grateful and angry about it. For some reason, his stoic personality was safe in that maze.
"The butler is hiding something, that I know for sure," she whispered this time. "I never saw him, but something doesn't feel right at all. Protecting Kaya? It sounds like bullshit to me, Zoro."
She was stubborn about the opinion she has of that man and maybe it was wrong, but did she really care?
The swordsman didn't expect the sound of his name rolling off her tongue to stir something inside of him. It almost stung, her voice craving words in languages he's never spoken on his ribs. He paid attention, even if on a normal day he wouldn't listen to superstitions and the words of a probably insane witch.
Except it sounded like she was the most sane of them all.
"It probably won't make sense for you, but he's lying about something. He's not just a butler," she continued after glancing back at the cards. "He's fooling everyone and he's doing it well. This isn't what I'm actually concerned about — there's another lie I can't point out. The cards don't help. It feels like I'm being deceived, but for a good reason."
"By who?"
"I don't know. Or maybe I just want to avoid the answer."
She always hated her suspicious nature, the way her trust could be gained only by a few, and all of these people have been gone for years. She shouldn't be like that, it would be better if she'd have some faith in the people around her, if she'd allow herself to believe in them and their words. The ability to trust was a desire — something she wanted, but didn't have.
Zoro's body tensed and his frown deepened when he realized she was suspicious about one of them. At the same time, her attitude didn't match up because she seemed to despise her own suspicions.
Why was he so concerned about her? Yeah, right, he has no clue. Amazing. Perfect.
"I hate this," she muttered under her breath.
The witch put all of her cards in the deck and threw it on a chair after she stood up. Her eyes fell on the variety of clothes and she wondered what the fuck she was doing there in the first place.
Why was she there? She didn't promise to stay with Luffy. She had the opportunity to remain in Syrup Village for a while and then leave, just like every time. What was she doing in that mansion, looking at too many clothes hung in a huge room?
"Aren't you also gonna change?" she said without turning towards him.
"Do you even trust us?"
The question had the same effect as the tight embrace she was pulled into a few hours ago. Her breath hitched and she hesitated, fingers clutching at the material of her dressing gown.
The truth was other than what she thought of this entire time; yes. Yes, she did, and that was the most dangerous situation of them all.
"I wish I didn't," she whispered.
It was inexplicable, the faith she had in humanity after meeting Luffy. She would clutch at her heart and talk about how humans don't deserve her trust, she would talk for hours about how mischievous people are, that they adore taking advantage of others.
So it was normal to despise that feeling of longing, the desire to get attached to people, the need for a connection. It was normal to fear a bad ending and it was even worse that she thought such a thing couldn't happen anymore.
That was why the tarot cards confused her. They told a story different from the one her soul knew. What betrayal? What secret? Who was in pain they couldn't express? And why did she get the feeling that it wasn't exactly betrayal?
Her answer probably satisfied Zoro, since he got up from the chair and took a black suit he noticed minutes ago. He didn't say a word, but his shoulders were relaxed again.
•┈┈┈•┈┈┈•┈┈┈
The witch was the last one to arrive downstairs, in a room that seemed like a living. She found it uncomfortable to wear a dress in a house filled with strange people, since it held her speed back and it wouldn't be exactly easy to defend herself. She opted for a dress she could move in, only squeezing her waist and chest, fluttering around her knees. It was long enough to hide a knife in her thigh holster. Getting discovered wasn't on her to-do list, but she had to ensure her own safety.
While she changed, her mind wandered… would any of them help if something happened? Her guess was that yes, they'd jump into action.
Without noticing, after she walked down the stairs, she gravitated close to the swordsman. She was with her back at one of her comrades, never out in the open, sharp eyes scanning each corner of the room. The table in the middle was strong, she figured out after she tapped her nail over the surface. If there were guns involved, she could use it as a shield.
"You should try these!" Luffy spoke with his mouth full of cookies as he looked towards her and Zoro.
"I have everything I need right here," the green-haired man responded with a smirk.
There was a glass of cocktail in between his fingers and he took a long gulp, his Adam's apple bobbing up and down. Only now, the witch took her time to gaze at the expense of his shoulders, the suit fitting him perfectly. Considering how casual he dresses, it was surprising to see that kind of formal attire hugging his body so deliciously. The usual cockiness of his smirk was still present, just like the hand shoved into the pocket of his black suit pants.
Roronoa Zoro was more attractive than she liked to admit. His sharp jawline and the smallest bump at the base of his nose, the tall stature, those deep brown eyes sparkling in the light of a candelabra — damn, he looked like he'd been sculpted by the gods, despite the lack of belief he had in such almighty beings. The air was tight when she inhaled and she almost felt bad for ogling at him — almost, because the first time she met him, she was busy sweeping the floor with some Marines.
A feeling of control and steadiness oozed out of him, pulling her closer like a spell. For the briefest moment, her shoulders relaxed at the reminder that she's not alone there, that there are three other people she can put an ounce of trust in. That was the least she could do at that time.
With her arms crossed loosely over her stomach, the witch watched the interaction between Nami and a businessman — he looked and acted exactly like one, but lacked the mischief.
She missed the glance the swordsman threw at her, a look that lasted for too long to be friendly, but short enough to miss it. No, he thought to himself before taking another gulp of the liquor in his glass. He doesn't have time to indulge into such things.
The witch sighed at her own observations; she should unwind for a little while. She picked another glass of cocktail that was on the table and sipped, furrowing her eyebrows.
"It's sweet," she mumbled, surprised after licking her lips.
"Don't confuse sweetness for how strong it is," Zoro chuckled.
That simple sound made her heart skip a beat or two, bringing an uncomfortable sensation in the pitch of her stomach.
"Beginner's mistake, I suppose," she shrugged.
Too bad she wasn't exactly a beginner.
The talkative Usopp and Luffy stopped, which caught her attention; these two were the loudest people she's ever met in her entire life. Kaya was walking down the stairs, her slim arms curled around one of Klahadore's — the butler.
Only now, the witch took her time and looked at her. The pastel pink dress drained the life out of that girl, as if her pale skin didn't do that enough. Her cheeks were sunk and her smile seemed fragile like glass. She still remembers the cough that ripped through Kaya's lungs like an old knife.
Usopp looked at her as if he saw his dream before his eyes. He was love-struck.
The witch smiled at the realization. A puzzle so easy to solve.
The only thing Luffy loved as much as his dream and crewmates was food. Behind the door where the stairs ended, there was a big table filled with too many plates to count and a variety of dishes. His eyes sparkled as if there was gold.
A simple minded person, indeed, and maybe that was for the best.
She couldn't rest. She was on high alert, her heart beating faster each time her eyes glanced over at the butler. The fork in between her fingers stabbed the meat in her plate once in a while, but the knot in her stomach was difficult to undo. The only reason why she managed to remain steady was the swordsman who sat to her left and — by some powers bestowed by the gods — felt steady and safe. His presence pulled her back to reality, stealing her attention. The witch has never been more glad not to be alone.
"We wanted to talk with you about a ship," Luffy said with a big smile on his face.
"Right," Kaya smiled back, letting her fork down. "Usopp told me you are sailors."
"We aren't sailors, we are pirates."
Damn it, Luffy!
The witch gulped, squeezing her eyes shut at their captain's excitement. This was about to end very badly.
•┈┈┈•┈┈┈•┈┈┈
The dinner ended abruptly. Kaya had a coughing fit and she wasn't feeling well, meanwhile, the butler blamed it on Luffy, who got on the table and had an entire speech. They weren't welcome there anymore and were supposed to leave at the first hour in the morning.
The witch found each opportunity not to be alone, aware it wouldn't be in her advantage in case something happened. When she saw Nami head back to their guest room, the witch followed her. She needed to change out of that dress into something she could run and fight in, like her usual clothes.
After locking the door behind her, she looked at Nami who was already slipping her arms out of the sleeves of that beautiful red dress.
"I didn't get to tell you that you look stunning in that, by the way. Definitely the best choice," the witch mumbled as she averted her eyes to offer some privacy.
"Not really the moment to talk about dress up, is it?"
"I know, but some compliments wouldn't hurt anyone, right?"
Wrong, apparently, since Nami stilled in her tracks. The witch decided to sit in silence for a while, while she changed from the dress as well, pulling on a plain t-shirt and some comfortable jeans she tucked into her boots.
The woman was aware of Nami who was moving behind her, now holding a pillowcase in between her fingers. It was clear she tried to move fast and leave the room before she could be noticed.
"Wanna be petty towards that rude butler?"
"It's not like anyone would notice. She's filthy rich," Nami mumbled through gritted teeth, disappointed about being caught. "Do you have eyes at the back of your head, by any chance?"
"Nope," the witch accentuated the p sound. "Just associating the rustling with the source."
"Did you eat some kind of sensory devil fruit?"
"Got born with it," the woman joked lightly.
Only then, she turned towards Nami, who stood tall, head tilted towards her. The witch was convinced about the suspicion she had while doing that tarot reading, but this time there wasn't a turmoil in her chest. The thunderstorm stopped, despite the clouds still covering the sky of her mind.
"Be careful roaming around with a pillowcase in your hand. We'll get in trouble if anyone catches us, especially the staff. They're creepy as hell."
"The girl hissed at me," Nami scoffed.
"Gods," the witch placed her hand on her forehead and shook her head. "Do you have any guesses about where the others might be?"
"Zoro drank like two bottles of alcohol, so I'll suppose he's searching for more."
The witch smiled softly at the response, despite the fact that she missed the undertone of Nami's answer.
"Don't tell me you were curious about Luffy or, worse, Usopp."
"Hm?"
An intelligent retort. The witch gulped down and looked away, biting at the inside of her cheek.
"I mean, Luffy gets himself in trouble all the time, it's not hard to find him."
"Are you acting stupid with me?"
Nami was grinning like the devil itself. Dammit, did she really have to be so observant?
"I'm pretty aware I'm smart, actually, so I don't get where this comes from," the witch whispered.
There was a hue pink covering her cheeks and she was fidgeting with her fingers behind her back, doing all of these gestures unconsciously. She felt like an idiot at that moment, she had to admit.
Then, as if lightning struck her, she widened her eyes for a brief second. She didn't even know why she was there, in that mansion, surrounded by strangers she wanted to put her trust into.
"What are you thinking of?" Nami asked.
"None of us promised to become a crew," she shook her head. "It doesn't matter."
The navigator narrowed her eyes at the witch whose shoulders fell, the shyness she felt earlier deflating.
"It looks like it matters to you, though."
"That's exactly why I'm saying it," she smiled sourly. "Gotta make myself believe otherwise."
Silence stretched between the two of them. Two women who had stories and feelings to hide knew when to stop from asking questions, even if it would end up bloody later. It was clear both of them wanted to avoid sensitive subjects, even if the witch barely noticed when Nami started being the interrogator.
"Be careful, Nami," the witch smiled at her sincerely. "Usopp may be good at bluffing, but I'm better at playing the innocent. If you need someone to gaslight the shit out of the butler, just tell me."
I know what you do is wrong, but I believe you'll make a wise decision by the end of this all. I believe in your reasoning and I hope you can put your trust in me as well.
"Noted," and with that, the navigator left the room.
The witch almost got lost in that labyrinth again. She wanted to go to the kitchen, place where Luffy most probably was, but maybe she walked down a bit too many stairs and headed to the wrong side of the mansion.
She saw a tall figure in the dark basement where barrels full of wine were arranged with utmost care. She furrowed her eyebrows when she saw Klahadore standing in the way, making one step back. Face to face with him was Zoro, who was ready to draw his sword out of its scabbard, but he quickly got hit in the back of his head by someone.
The witch's eyes widened, but she received the same treatment by someone who managed to sneak behind her back.
•┈┈┈•┈┈┈•┈┈┈
Her head ached, sending daggers all the way to her forehead. The witch let out a guttural groan and her hand flew to her nape, caressing the sore spot.
When her eyes opened, she was greeted by the dead body of Merry, the business man she noticed at the dinner. She flinched, scrambling to her feet, which wasn't an intelligent idea. Her vision blurred black and she felt dizzy, suddenly unsteady. If not for Zoro's grip on her arms, she would've fallen ungraciously on her butt.
"What the heck?" she mumbled.
After a few seconds that felt a bit too long, she couldn't understand exactly why it was so cold in that place. Her chin tilted back so she could look up at the night sky.
They were at the bottom of a well.
"We have to get out," Zoro spoke in a gruff voice.
He sighed heavily and let go of the witch, while she looked at him with the face of are you fucking serious?
"How?" she spoke without thinking.
After a failed attempt to escape by using a long rope with a big hook attached to it, she tried using her short knives to stick the blades in between the rocks; it didn't work either.
There was only one option left and she was speechless.
Her heart sank when she watched Zoro grip at the rocks. He was strong, yes, definitely stronger than her on the physical side, but what if he couldn't climb up? What if he would fall?
Then I'd catch him. We either die here together or we get out together.
Her mind was set. She watched him carefully, gulping when she watched him struggle. His weight might do some damage if she dared to be reckless enough to catch him, but he was the only one who could climb those rocks. If she would've tried, she'd surely fall.
Just like she supposed, his fingers didn't grip well enough at one of the rocks and his feet slipped. He lost his equilibrium and wasn't fast enough to clutch onto another rock or stabilize his foot in time, and he fell back.
Maybe that witch was more reckless than anyone would've guessed. On top of it, she was selfless enough to believe that if he managed to get out and get help, it didn't matter what happened later, so she tried her best to mitigate the impact.
She was right — air got knocked out of her lungs when his body fell on top of hers and she groaned, but at least he didn't break some ribs. Her arms were wrapped around his waist and her fingers clutched at his shirt. Pain traveled through her body quickly and didn't disappear, but the adrenaline paid off.
"Are you alright?" she asked him in a hurry.
"You're insane," Zoro concluded, exasperated.
His back was glued to her chest and he tilted his head to the side to look at her. Maybe, for once, he was right about her.
"I'd rather break one of my ribs. You're the only one who can get us out," she argued with a frown between her eyebrows.
The witch looked away and blinked. She didn't want to focus on how hot the air felt, despite the bone chilling cold in that tight space. The butterflies in her stomach could be ignored if she gathered enough self control in time.
However, Zoro didn't move. He seemed troubled, completely out of it as he continued to look up at the night sky with a scowl on his face. His entire body was tense and he was deep down in his thoughts, especially since he didn't move a finger since he disagreed with her idea of "helping".
As if struck by lightning, he got back up, following the same steps from earlier.
"Be careful."
He stopped in his tracks right after his fingers gripped at some rocks.
"Move away if I fall again."
"I won't move and you won't fall."
It pushed him at the edge, mingling with the memories flowing through his mind about his long lost friend, about the girl whose strength he admired so greatly it made him move again. For a brief second, he thought of himself as a coward for overthinking the process. He either got out alive and managed to get her out as well, or they were both doomed — there was no in between.
Steadily, a tad bit slower than before, he climbed up the wall. His body ached at the effort when he was more than half way through and he would stop for a few seconds before making another move, clutching at another rock that would get him higher.
Despite being so low, several meters under the ground, her trust in him didn't waver. Her heart squeezed with worry, but she wanted to follow her instinct and how much she believed in him, even if it was unusual. Maybe it was because of his stubbornness, since if he was set on something, there was no way of stopping him.
He lost his equilibrium for a fraction of a second. Her breath hitched, eyes widening, his name stopping on the tip of her tongue.
His foot slipped and some dust fell to the bottom of the well, next to her. She breathed out in relief when he was quick enough to grip at another rock.
The witch didn't doubt him one bit when he finally got out of the well. He kept the rope he found in the well at his waist while he climbed up, so he could help her get out too.
From up there, Zoro held tightly onto the rope, just as tightly as she did, even if her fingers hurt and she didn't exactly trust her body to be strong enough. She gripped at the cord and climbed the stone wall, gritting her teeth whenever it seemed like she might fall.
Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. Repeat.
It was a slow process, which was worrisome from her perspective. She advanced, but the longer she struggled, it felt endless.
For the record, she believed in Zoro more than she believed in herself — she didn't have low self-esteem either.
"Look up," he reminded her firmly.
He prompted his feet into the ground and held tightly, waiting for her.
"Trying," she mumbled to herself.
Slowly, she got closer and closer to the exit. Zoro bent his torso and curled his fingers around her forearm, managing to help her out.
"Fuck," she cursed.
Her breath was labored and she was sweating heavily, a droplet falling from her temple to her jaw and down her neck. She let herself on the grass, her arm still in his hand.
"I owe you my life," she breathlessly mumbled.
Unconsciously, her fingers were clutching onto his arm for support, even if her knees trembled from the tumult she went through.
"We have time for that later," he brushed it off. "We have to find the others."
"That butler isn't new to killing people who stand in his way. We better hurry before he chops us off."
"His name is Kuro. He was the captain of the Black Cat Pirates and supposedly died three years ago, when Axe-Hand Morgan killed him — the Marine Captain we encountered back in Shell Town."
The swordsman kept his grip firm on her, carefully bringing her back to her feet while he talked.
"I saw his face on a wanted poster some time ago, but since he was presumed dead, no one cared anymore."
"He looked very much alive to me," the witch retorted.
"I was with Usopp when I went to get wine and he managed to escape from the butler. Maybe he went to search for help, even if I doubt any untrained person could harm these pirates. Luffy was in the kitchen, eating some weird blue food."
Zoro let go of her and walked in the opposite direction of the mansion and she looked at him confused.
"Oi, Zoro, the house is the other way—"
Then, when she looked at the path that went through the forest surrounding the mansion, she felt a pull towards it. She furrowed her eyebrows and continued staring.
"You go that way. Nami is surely still inside."
"You just said I went in the opposite direction, though?" Zoro arched his eyebrow at her.
"Usopp searched for help, but if we think about it, Kaya said he has a lot of stories to tell. He's bluffing a lot, even if with no bad intentions. Maybe he found someone — if there's no sign of life on the path, come back."
"And you?"
"I'll find Nami and Kaya somehow."
Zoro didn't believe in superstitions and higher beings, but he trusted her instinct, so he headed the other way. The witch opened the door slowly, making no sounds. She slipped inside and looked around for an insane pirate who hisses — these two were creepy.
The young woman flinched when all the light suddenly disappeared and behind her, a heavy metal wall met the floor, stopping everyone from moving in or out of there. Fuck.
She gripped with both of her hands at the daggers she held at her hip, holding them securely. With slow steps, the witch made her way through the house. The big candelabrum hanging from the ceiling marked the way to enter and leave the house. To the left was the kitchen and to her right was the living room. The guest rooms and dormitories were upstairs. She still remembers which one was her room for the might and the bathroom.
If she didn't want to die there, she had to quickly figure that place out.
She heard one single step from the stairs and her attention shot up. Sham looked at her perplexed, but grinned widely.
"You were supposed to be dead, little mouse."
"Don't confound me with your food," the witch held the knives tighter.
Instantly, the woman jumped at her with a mop in her hands. The witch dodged the attack with a knife and the one that followed, bending her knees to avoid getting hit again. She tried to cut Sham's leg with her knife, but the maid was fast, jumping back in time.
Zoro, if you get lost on the way back, I'll wake up from the dead and kill you, she thought to herself.
"Captain Kuro will kill Kaya tonight and there's nothing you can do to stop him."
Sham's wooden mop clashed against the witch's dagger and avoided the knife which almost sunk into her shoulder. Sham attempted to make her fall by kicking her legs, but the witch made a light jump before she could fall.
It would draw attention to her and the cook might appear out of nowhere, but the witch sheathed one of the knives and pulled a pistol, aiming at the hissing woman.
"I'm too fast for your shitty guns, girl."
Yeah, sure. It was her time to grin at Sham.
Her eyes followed each of the maid's movements, moving her arm just in time to shoot her side. Sham was lucky enough to move out of the way, but the next bullet scarred her upper arm, another hiss leaving her lips.
"Fuck."
Aw, the kitty was angry.
The witch widened her eyes when she saw Sham pull a sword that seemed more suited for decor. She had to dodge the next attack, the blade almost touching her neck when she stopped it with her knife.
"Hey, Sham, do you need some help?"
The witch gulped at the new voice. It was the cook.
"I don't really think so."
The witch jumped back before her neck got cut, breathing heavily. She had to block other attacks while she attempted to find a weak spot, an opening to shoot and do it well.
The witch groaned when the blade left a deep and clean slice on her left upper arm. It stretched horizontally on the side. The shock almost paralyzed her and blood was quick to flow down her arm.
She tossed a knife through the air, the tip sinking straight into Sham's right arm.
A weight sound caught her attention and she turned her head towards the metal wall behind her that was slowly being lifted up by strong arms. Who the fuck could—
Oh, right. They had a bulky swordsman as part of the crew.
"Took you long enough," the witch muttered through gritted teeth.
Luffy bent down and smiled at her widely.
"Sorry for that."
"Keep apologies for later. Go after Kuro — he wants to kill Kaya."
Zoro followed the straw hat, straightening his back when he got inside. His eyes narrowed when he saw the crimson liquid covering the witch's arm, drawing his swords out. He could use the adrenaline pumping through his veins against the man who launched an attack at him.
"Go, Luffy. We'll keep these two occupied," he instructed.
The scent of blood filled the witch's nostrils. She aimed the gun at Butchy and the bullet flew right next to his ear, stopping him from hitting the swordsman. Sham was bold for taking the knife out of her arm and running towards the witch with the weapon in her hold. The witch stumbled and her back glued the floor, both her hands gripping harshly at Sham's arm, stopping the tip of the knife a few centimeters above her eyes.
"You little bitch," the pirate hissed at her.
The witch kicked the maid into the stomach with her knee, pushing her off of her. Luffy disappeared and the sound of blades clashing against each other filled the room.
Zoro used raw strength whenever he attacked Butchy, his swords almost cutting through the man with swift gestures of the wrist, elbows angled perfectly. He had more fighting experience than her and it showed, so she was more than just happy not to get sliced in half by the other two.
She cussed when she remembered she had only one revolver, the other one left in the room. She had three bullets left.
Her head got cloudy when she quickly got back to her feet, her breathing labored. She was tired and the only reason why she ignored her bleeding wound was the adrenaline.
This time, when Sham attacked with the mop, the witch only moved to the side and took advantage of the opportunity to cut with the knife through the flesh, the tip sinking deeper and deeper into the maid's stomach, until her body went limp.
The witch let Sham fall to the floor and stepped back. She felt her pulse pump through her head, slowing her down. She tried to focus on breathing evenly and eventually not passing out.
She heard a loud thump — the cook was down and Zoro sheathed his swords. He didn't break a sweat, or so it looked from her blurry perspective.
A sound rang through the air sharper than her daggers and it lit her on fire. The sound of her name being spoken with worry latched onto Zoro's voice.
He walked down two or three stairs at once, undoing the bandana from his head and wrapping it around her wound. She hissed when he knotted the material tightly in order to stop the bleeding.
"Thanks," she whispered, her body still tense.
•┈┈┈•┈┈┈•┈┈┈
"Don't mention it," Luffy smiled widely at Kaya. "We couldn't have let him hurt you or deceive people anymore."
If it wasn't for his rubber body, maybe they wouldn't have gotten out alive, but luck sided with them again.
"I could never thank you enough, but this is all I can do for you now."
The witch stared at the goat figurehead of the ship Luffy was enamored with. Kaya talked, but the words weren't registering in the woman's ears since a small little creature curled around one of her legs. The black cat mewled sweetly and begged for attention, a luxury it received quickly. The witch crouched down and petted the animal with a smile on her lips, brushing her fingers over the soft fur. The cat purred loudly, rolling on its back and pawing at the woman, greedy for affection.
"How's your wound?"
When she lifted her head, her eyes met Zoro's. One of his hands rested on the hilt of his Wado Ichimoji and the other was stuffed into the pocket of his jeans — she learned that was one of his most relaxed stances.
His bandana was still wrapped around her upper arm and the bleeding stopped long ago. She didn't get the chance to properly clean her arm or tend to the cut, but she felt content.
"I'll care for it on the ship after we set sail," she said in a soft voice.
Yes, that was the voice that made his heart hammer in his chest, he remembered. Finally, after a day filled with anxiety and panic, he could watch her shoulders relax, even if he wasn't exactly pleased with her lack of attention.
"Let's go!" Luffy shouted at them.
The witch stood up, wincing at the smallest movement of her arm, and that didn't go unnoticed by the swordsman.
She still avoided his question, he concluded. She said she'll care for the wound, not how it felt.
He tapped the hilt of his sword repeatedly and took a decision he didn't know if he'll regret later, following close behind her.
Mihawk, Katakuri, Sanji (Gomez) and Shanks with a Morticia Reader?
-Beautiful but deadly, like a poisonous rose- that’s how many would describe you, it was also your Devil Fruit ability, growing poisonous roses that you could control, but that was besides the point!
-You were so lovely- looking like the moon against the night sky, but you were dark- almost evil looking, but you were only evil to those who perceived you as evil- mainly marines who saw your abilities as evil- as your roses killed people!
-That’s not true…fully. You could grow normal roses at will, and the poisonous aspect was something you could control, but to keep those who would do you harm out- you had to do what you needed to do to protect yourself.
-That is~ until you met (Love). He was almost instantly taken by you- you were stunning and seeing your elegance, your power- you were the perfect woman!
-This man was different compared to the other men that chased after you- but then again he wasn’t a marine, he was a pirate, as you were.
-However, you did grow to adore him, despite his odd behaviors, but to him they were normal behaviors, just like how everything you did was normal to you.
-Mihawk- Found you wandering around his island, holding an umbrella over your head despite it being nighttime. You were… stunning! Mihawk had never seen such a beautiful woman before- he paid little attention to women before, mainly because he knew they were all after his power, wealth, and reputation. You were different, you were much like him, morbid and dark, as you were all smiles when he showed you around his home, warming his heart with your compliments. He treated you like a delicate rose, but he knew that you were extremely dangerous and for some reason- that warmed his heart- knowing you could easily kill him. How exciting!
-Katakuri- Originally he didn’t know what to make of you- you were…odd, even for the Charlotte Family. He could tell that you were very dangerous if you wanted to be- but there was no malice to do him or any of his siblings any harm, at the moment. Mama adored you and your abilities and welcomed you, but some of your habits were a bit odd- you usually remained inside during the day and took moonlit strolls, enjoying the moonlight rather than the sunlight, and you found such beauty in the macabre. Katakuri never really bothered with women before you, but there was something about you- he felt like a fly flirting with a Venus fly trap, but he wanted to be eaten. Anything to spend more time by your side.
-Sanji- He initially threw you off with his affections and attention, especially after you saw that he did this for all women. However, ever since you joined the Straw Hats- just like with Nami and Robin, he always came back, coming out to worship the ground at your feet. He adores everything about you- from your dark wardrobe, your morbid sense of humor, and your ability with your babies- he looks at you like you are the most beautiful rose. He was quick to worm his way into your heart and surprisingly, once you accepted him, he stopped going after other girls, devoting his love to you and you alone, and when you return his affection- he could die a happy man if the last thing he saw was your lips coming to kiss his own.
-Shanks- If asked to describe Shanks, to put it simple you compared him to a dog- rushing to meet you when you came back to the ship, greeting you brightly. If he had a tail it would be wagging. He melts under your affection- you could just scratch the underside of his chin and he would be putty in your hands- this was something Benn totally used to his advantage. However, if Shanks feels if you have been disrespected, he turned into a demon- he would leave no survivors- commanding respect for you. Benn, Lucky, and the others were quite brutal with their teasing of Shanks, calling him whipped- and Shanks would always run to you, where you would kiss him all over his face, leaving numerous kiss marks- so technically he was the winner!
HAPPY 1-YEAR OF DRAWING ANNIVERSARY TO ME!
(Warning: slightly longer post incoming cause sometimes I gotta be a sentimental bitch ok? So let's go on a little trip down memory lane.)
This day, a year ago, I made my very first fanart. It was dnf (if that surprises you, then welcome to being on my blog for the very first time). I drew a little frog face too so I could use it as a watermark (fun fact: I still use that very same first one).
I immediately put my drawing up on twt because I told myself that I wasn't gonna be afraid of having people see that I was at the very beginning of this journey and had no clue what I was doing. That instead of being bad at art, I was gonna be awesome at being a beginner who doesn't know shit.
Tumblr media
I started with little doodles and silly comics and then I laughed way too long when the first drawing of mine that gained some attention was a dnf butt joke. At the time I was trying to balance shipping and non-shipping art so I didn't even draw dnf that much but in hindsight it's probably the only possible way this could have gone.
Tumblr media
At the very end of August I woke up to @honelle56 caps-locking at me in my messages - I was very confused and tired (I am no morning person and I will never be, fuck off with your mornings) because Dranart liked my drawing of singing Dream. Dranart was my 17th follower on twt which is a useless yet extremely funny fact about my time on that hellsite.
Tumblr media
I also drew human!patches because a) patches was and will always be my favorite dteam member and b) it was a really cute trend and while I do love drawing dream, george and sapnap, I was also quite happy to try drawing anything but a white man for once. And I really liked how the drawing turned out.
Tumblr media
Much, much later, I tried to draw my first slightly more realistic looking drawing. I was extremely confused on how to draw anything like this. Especially their hair gave me tons of trouble but given my experience, I think it's not a bad attempt.
Tumblr media
When hijacked smp started I obviously wanted to participate, and I drew c!blu who doesn't associate with any side in particular but instead serves soup to everyone who visits her tavern 'The Soup House'. She also wants to be paid in stories from all around the map.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One of the events I was most excited about was dnf week. I even collaborated with two talented writers and I drew the corresponding art for two fics.
(Fun or not so fun fact: when twt had like three hundred collaborative aneurysms about the situation at that moment, that was when I created this tumblr account. I didn't use it super actively (I guess I needed another situation to fully make the switch) but I at least started the account that now developed quite a bit since then.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn't really draw at all through January and February and I actually kinda thought I would move on from that hobby and fandom (not because of negative feelings, just because I didn't really have the urge to create anything within this fandom) and then situations happened and now I am here; and for some reason that is beyond any logic and my understanding I am now even more insane about dteam.
Wild to me but we are rolling with it now, I guess.
Since I got here, I drew more than ever (I actually think I might have made more drawings in the month since I got here than I made the whole rest of the year). There's just such an active and funny community here that cares about fan works for the sake of creating and not just because a CC might see it.
Unfortunately, Tumblr won't let me add more than 10 images in one post (maybe fortunately for everyone who has this monstrosity of a post on their dash). So if you want to see all the progress I made since I got here, you can look at everything in my art tag. For now, I will close this post with one of the art works from the past month that I like the most:
Tumblr media
Can't wait to see what the next year might bring :)
Love, blu
Sleepover
Tumblr media
IMAGINE: SLEEPOVER~ ZORO X READER (FEAT. CHOPPER) GENRE: FLUFF WARNING: MAYBE SLIGHT CUSSING? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Getting any alone time was rare in the Thousand Sunny. Most of the time Zoro was training while you were hanging out with someone else. You usually did train with Zoro, but you would get interrupted by someone wanting to hang out with you. You didn’t want to be rude so of course you’re going to hang out with them.
Nami and Robin loved to hang out just for girl time. It was definitely a need because you swear that the testosterone was suffocating you. With Franky or Usopp you worked on some invention. You never really paid attention to it that much. With Luffy, you played childish games that you could never get tired of. And Chopper, he was with you a lot. Almost like a toddler would with a mother. You loved to help him roll out or dry out herbs. And you happily listened to what he had to say about diseases and medicines.
When he wasn’t working on his stuff, he would tag along with you. If you had any chores, he would help you. If you were knitting anything, he would try to do something as well.
You could remember the cute dinosaur onesie you made him. He acted like it was the best thing in the world. He had made you a scarf, saying that it wasn’t as cute as yours, but you insisted that it was cuter. You wore it every time it got cold out, making Chopper the happiest reindeer.
Whenever Zoro would see you with Chopper, a feeling would stir up in his chest. It wasn’t a negative feeling. It was one of longing. He would sometimes imagine what you would be like with his children. He knew that day would be far away, but he really hoped that one day he could have a child one day with you. And he knew that you would make a great parent just by watching how you interact with Chopper.
One night, you were by yourself cleaning up the kitchen. It was quiet. No shouting or loud crashing.
While wiping down the table, you feel someone grab onto your shoulders. You slightly jump and turn around to see your boyfriend.
“Oh my god, Zoro. You scared me.” You say slightly tapping his shoulder- which of course had no effect on him. “You shouldn’t let your guard down.” You roll your eyes, “I don’t usually have my guard up when I’m cleaning the kitchen during nighttime.” “But we are docked on an island, anyone can stroll on the ship.” “Well, that’s what you’re here for! To stop anyone from getting on the ship.” You brightly smile at him. “You rely on me too much.” “Would you rather me not rely on you at all?”
Zoro just sighs at your words, knowing that there was no easy way out of this one. If he answered yes, then he would most likely get a cold treatment from you.
Instead, his hands that were still on your shoulders, moved down to your hands. He grasps onto them. “Let’s sleep in your bed tonight. We have the room all to ourselves.” He whispers while leaning closer to you.
A bright blush starts to overtake your face at his words. There was a slight teasing tone in his voice. “But what if-“ “No what ifs. When do we ever get time to ourselves.” He states. You look to the side, “yeah. You’re right…” A large grin crosses his face. “Damn right I am. Now let’s go.”
Zoro picks you up. One arm underneath your knees and the other supporting your back. A blush covers your face again causing Zoro to chuckle. He honestly loves how easily you get flustered. He makes his way over to the girls’ room and drops you down on your bed.
He props his swords against the wall, next to your bed and slides into the bed as well. “Shouldn’t we at least get changed?” You ask and Zoro shakes his head. He grabs ahold of your waist and pulls you against his chest.
With a content sigh, you relax in his hold and cuddle closer to him. Zoro enjoyed the warmth that you provided, the scent of your shampoo wafting to his nose. The steady breathing relaxes him as well. He could feel you make little shapes on his chest. His favorite being the little hearts.
Everything was quiet and nothing could ruin this moment…...
“(Y/N)!” A high-pitched voice screams and runs into the room. The door slams open in the process, causing you to quickly sit up. You and Zoro were on high alert. Until you saw that it was Chopper, in his dinosaur onesie.
“Chopper, what’s the matter?” You ask as he runs over to you. Zoro reaches over to his swords, ready to fight off any threat if needed.
“Oh, you’re here too Zoro.”
Zoro’s head snaps over to Chopper with a slight glare. Chopper doesn’t notice it though. His full attention was on you.
“I had a bad dream,” he starts tears already forming. A pout forms on your lips and you pick him up, placing him on your lap. Your arms wrap around him to comfort him. Chopper immediately returns the hug, finding comfort and security. “What was it about.” “The marines came and took you! We couldn’t find you anywhere… it was like you disappeared.”
Zoro scoffs, “I would never let that happen.” “Thanks Zoro…. Can I sleep with you tonight?” Chopper asks. “Absolutely n- “You cut Zoro off with a swift kick to his leg. “Of course.” You say while placing Chopper in between you and Zoro.
You look over to see Zoro giving you a slight glare, and if you squinted you could see a small pout on his lips. ‘Sorry’ You mouthed to him.
Chopper giggles as he gets comfortable. “This is like a sleepover!” You giggle at his excitement, “almost. How about we have a sleepover with Nami and Robin.” “Yeah! That sounds like fun.”
Zoro groans, causing you to look back at him, “when do I get my sleepover with you?”
A large smile from amusement makes a way on your face. “I promise you that we’ll get a sleepover too Zoro.” A small scoff escapes his lips, “you better.”
You lean over to Zoro and give him a small kiss on his lips. “Goodnight.” You then lean down and place a small kiss to Chopper’s forehead, “goodnight.”
With a sigh of defeat, Zoro gets comfortable again. He looks over to see that Chopper has cuddled up to you and your arms were wrapped around him as well. When he makes eye contact with you, you reach a hand out to him. Still holding Chopper close to you. He takes your hand and scoots closer to the both of you. This would have to suffice for tonight.
Zoro took a mental note to lock the doors next time.
My FAVORITE resident evil duo
Tumblr media
‼️Not written with the intent of a ship BUT can be taken as either a ship or not, whatever you see fit! ‼️
In the originals, he sadly got taken out VERY early but I still find their very short dynamic to be nothing short from amazing.
Even as Ada calls him a runt and complains how much she has to do for him, in the chapter change sequence, she mentions how she’s the one who personally brought it to the organization’s attention on his value and that as how she puts it, he is a brilliant scientist.
And I especially love her line,
“I did it because I like him. His history betrays an enthusiasm I once shared”
Even with their limited time, their story was done wonderfully for what it is!
Tumblr media
Their one meeting 😭
And now, my absolute favorite, the remake!!!
Tumblr media
Firstly, with Luis’s increased screen time, it really gives them more time to showcase their bond!
I feel as if in the remakes, she actually cares more for Luis than Leon outside of mission purposes.
Luis helped her understand a lot more about the work she does in general! (By being an idiot) But she gained more value to trust and that she doesn’t ALWAYS have to work alone for what she wants. Luis showed her she can still benefit even with trusting others for a bit.
It is shown very obviously that Ada does not care for things unless it concerns her in any shape, way, or form. (Shown by how she does not care about Leon nor Ashley being infected and does not pay any mind to the idea of medicine until she is informed she’s infected too)
She only starts to gain sympathy for the situation when Luis is distraught about the loss of his medicine, which Ada goes OUT OF HER WAY to help get the ingredients even though the only thing she ever promised to Luis for the Amber was to get him out of there and have him under protection.
Sure, she needed the medicine herself, but she didn’t even protest the idea of getting off course and even came up with the solution to make more! Since Luis was so focused on the idea that what was left was destroyed. (Def far fetched…)
But also Luis’s pure concern for her in the scene where he gives her the sedative! :( And especially since that’s the last time they were ever able to see each other face to face.
But my main reason? How she honored his wish! She paid little to no mind into helping Leon AT ALL. (Shown in how she sees him fight Salazar, but since it didn’t concern her, she didn’t lift a finger to help him. Contrary to when she shot Mendez, she NEEDED to be in there to Investigate) but she switches off the bombs to the island to honor the fact Luis wanted them to make it since he did everything he could to save them and to “set things right”.
She had no reason to switch it off for her own benefit, she didn’t do anything to directly save Leon just because she “wants” to and she literally told Leon to leave Ashley behind! She did it to honor Luis ☹️ And since she’s a woman who doesn’t let emotion ever get in the way of her mission, I find this really sweet 🫶
Tumblr media
I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!! Luis didn’t deserve to die 😔💔
Intoxicating
Y'all, I'm in love with him. Like there is not enough text out there that will ever cure my depravity when it comes to how much I think about this man. He's out of character here I'm sure but I wish I could care. This is Rayleigh's character to me and honestly I'm the only one I care about.
About 5.5k words
CW: afab reader, use of she/her pronouns, cunnilingus (fem receiving), slight breeding kink, praise kink
Tumblr media
Intoxicating.
Everything about him made you desperately want more. He was addicting in his actions, his words, and how he treated you. Sometimes you were scared of how intense your feelings for him were.
But little did you know, he had it much worse when it came to you.
***
She happily waved to the Straw Hats alongside Shakky and Rayleigh as they made their way off of the Archipelago and to the New World.
“I’m excited to hear what they get up to next. They really know how to liven up the place!” Your eyes stayed on the ship until it was no longer in sight. With a slight smile you sighed. “I’m gonna miss them. Hope I can drink with them again sometime in the future.”
Rayleigh snaked his arm around your waist and pulled you closer to him. “I’m sure you’ll get another chance sometime in the future sweetheart. I have a strong feeling that this won’t be the last time you’ll see them,” he chuckled. Placing a kiss atop your head as you cuddled into him.
“I’ll miss them, but I’m happy to have you back,” you said, fully turning into his embrace for a hug.
“What do you mean? After leaving Luffy on Rusukaina I’ve been back here, with you. I would never leave either of you unless I had to sweetheart,” he pulled you away from his chest so he could look down into your eyes, also giving a look over to Shakky.
All she did was shrug. She knew how he was, she didn’t need the reminder. But apparently the new addition to their relationship wasn’t as well-versed on how Rayleigh operated.
“I knowwww,” you said with an embarrassed tone to your voice. “It’s just…”
He looked at her expectantly without saying anything. His expression speaking for him.
He could tell  by the way your cheeks were heating up that you were struggling to share how you felt. Even though you tried to hide it from him – which you were quickly learning was impossible due to a little thing called Haki (which you only knew about through him)  – he was able to detect how you were feeling based on your body language.
Embarrassed.
“Of course I’m happy you helped the Straw Hats out. You’re amazing and generous as always Silvers…I just…” you averted his eyes, finding your nails much more interesting at the moment.
That was until he gently grabbed your chin with his finger and thumb to look him in his eyes, demanding your full attention.
“I know it’s selfish of me…I just missed your attention is all…”
He didn’t say anything else as his mind recalled the last two years. While it’s true that he didn’t stay with Luffy the full two years during his training, even when he came back home, most of his time was spent covertly watching over their ship and waiting for their inevitable return back to the Archipelago.
His heart hurt at the fact that you were right. He had been neglecting you when he didn’t even mean to. And here you were admitting so sweetly that you missed him.
Oh. He was going to make up for lost time immediately.
The look in his eyes must have given away his intentions as Shakky looked over at the two of them and rolled her eyes lovingly. “I’m going back to the bar to serve the customers because you know, that’s how I get paid around here. Just don’t break the bed this time Rayleigh” she scoffed as she walked away towards the bar, lighting her next cigarette.
Rayleigh chuckled as he heard an embarrassed whine coming from the woman buried in his chest. Picking you up and following Shakky to the bar with the intention of going straight to their shared bedroom. You wrapped your legs around him so that you didn’t fall now that your feet weren’t on the ground. Not that he would ever let you fall from his arms.
“You’ve been so patient with me haven’t you baby? I didn’t mean to neglect you sweetheart. Let me make it up to you, yeah?”
***
So maybe you had an idea of what was going to happen when you admitted to wanting his attention back, but you had no idea it was going to be like this. How did Shakky survive so long?
Rayleigh had to relearn what restraint was the moment he finally had you laid out bare on the bed underneath him. It was hard to think of anything else but you when you were looking at him so desperately… so ready for him to take care of you.
He could tell you were needy from the look in your eyes, and he’d be damned if he didn’t take care of his sweet girl’s needs after he’s neglected them for so long.
“You missed me sweet girl?” he asked, ghosting his lips over yours, kissing everywhere but where you wanted him most. His hands wandered across your body as if he were learning you for the first time. You both had done this many times before, yet he was always amazed at how soft your body was in comparison to his. How your skin felt underneath his hands. Every single inch of your body, your soul…just you, was intoxicating.
You whine and pull his lips onto yours in response to his question. His lands leaving a trail of fire everywhere he touched. It was amazing how was able to melt your brain with only gentle caresses, but he did so without fail each time. Whining as he pulled away from the kiss, immediately missing his lips, and he groaned at the noise you made.
If he looked hard enough, he was sure that deep within your lust filled eyes, he could make out little hearts in them as you stared up at him. Being so patient and waiting once again for him to take care of you. His hand made its way to your neck and squeezed gently. The full power and control you willingly submitted to him made him dizzy. He was going to ruin you.
“I’m sorry I made you wait sweetheart. You’ve been such a good girl being all patient for me haven’t you?” he cooed at you. Quickly nodding your head in agreement. Already drunk off his praise.
“Y-yes, I’ve been good,” you whimpered in response. Waiting on him to continue.
“I know, baby. I’m so sorry I haven’t been giving you the attention you needed. I’m gonna make it up to you okay? My sweet sweet girl deserves a reward for being so good, yeah?” He lightly pinched one of your nipples. Not bothering to hide the shit-eating grin on his face at how your body immediately reacted to his touch. He was addicted to how responsive you were to him. Even if it was involuntary, it let him know that he was doing something right.
He released your neck as he took his own shirt off. Allowing you a moment to rediscover his body. Taking pride in how you shamelessly eye fucked him. He even let you pull him down for another kiss. Sighing at the skin on skin contact. He didn’t even realize how much his own body missed yours until he was finally over you.
He pulled away from your mouth as he smiled sweetly to you. “What’s the safe word sweetheart,” he tapped the side of your face to make sure you were listening, immediately recognizing the spacey look forming on your face. He couldn’t get started just yet until he knew you would be alright.
“Haki,” you said with a smile. Being able to find your voice for the first time in the last few minutes.
“There you go…” he whispered.
You drive him crazy with the innocent look on your face despite knowing exactly how depraved your mind was in that moment. Knowing how he’s the last one who will get to see you like this brings him a high he will never tire of.
He makes his way down your body all while keeping eye contact with you until he reaches the lower half of your body. He grabs a pillow from the top of the headboard and shoves it underneath your hips. He gently rubs your legs in a comforting manner while he slowly forces them apart.
He breaks eye contact and mentally curses himself for not tending to you sooner. He wonders how long you went just thinking of him, how often you missed his touch, how often you craved him.
He groans appreciatively at the sight of you spread out in front of him. Your extreme arousal was evident in the way it flowed from you. Suddenly he was dehydrated and his eyes glossed over as if he found a never ending source of hydration. His hands made their way to the back of your thighs as his patience was starting to thin. He coaxed the back of your thighs before he cupped the back of your knees and pushed them up towards your chest and laid his arm out over your legs to keep you completely open and bent.
You whimpered at his strength and how easily he maneuvered your to his liking. Turned on by the way his strength made you feel small and protected. you didn’t even realize that he had guided your hands to his hair until you felt his fingers run along the slit of your core and teasingly circle your clit. The touch took you by surprise as you gripped at his head between your legs.
“Who got you this excited sweetheart? Surely it couldn’t have been this old man,” he teased as he continued to toy with you. Smiling at the way your breath hitched at his touch.
“You did, only you Silvers,” you whimpered. your hips jolted when he pressed his finger into you. He blew air onto your core, and he felt himself harden even more at the way your body winked at him. your body’s promise to him of how amazing you would feel wrapped around him.
While you laid spread out in front of Rayleigh, all you could think about was how easily he could ruin you. He could ask you to go after the One Piece yourself and you would agree in an instant if it meant that he would never stop touching you. you wanted him to please you until you were brainless. Until the only thing you could think about was him. He could take you right now and all you would be able to do is thank him.
“Please Silvers, I’ve been so good, please just -” he cut you off with a stroke of his tongue from your entrance to your clit. The moan you let out – pornographic and needy.
“Don’t beg,” he states, staring at you. “You never have to beg me for anything sweetheart. Anything you want. It’s yours.”
He pressed his arm harder into your legs to keep you still, and brought his other hand to spread you open for him. Mouth watering at the sight of you and the thought of making you come undone with only his mouth.
Sure, he sailed with the King of the Pirates, but nothing made him feel more powerful than the way your body reacted to just his mouth.
They both moaned at the same time. yours at the slight feeling of relief, and his at the taste of you that he missed so much. He licks and sucks everywhere he can get his mouth to, and groans at the feeling of you tugging at his hair. He has to press his arm down a bit more, because your body immediately tries to up the friction, trying to grind yourself into his mouth as much as you can.
He greedily licked up your arousal as his eyes looked up from between your legs. Smirking at the sight of your already fucked out face. Your eyes blurry from unshed tears as your mouth opened in silence.
“You gotta breathe baby,” he muttered against you.
Releasing the breath you didn’t realize you were holding  “Thank you thank you thank you” you chanted as he continued to ruin you with only his mouth. It was quickly becoming too much too fast. As worked up as you were, you knew you weren't going to last long with how well he was working on unraveling you.
Your body tensed as you felt him insert a finger into you. Her body clamped down on the intrusion, happy to no longer be empty.
“Gods you’re so tight sweetheart,” he groaned at the feeling of you around his finger. Knowing that you were going to feel even better around him. “Loosen up for me, yeah?” His mouth closed around your clit and sucked. Her body buzzed beneath him. All he could focus on was you. you overwhelmed his senses in the best way possible.
It only took a few moments before he was inserting another finger into you. you cried out as he began to stretch you out. The tension in your lower body was growing tighter and tighter by the second. Her toes were curling as your breaths became even more labored.
“S-Silvers! S-slow down. I’m-I’m,” you cut yourself off with a scream as he massaged the spot inside of you that you were never able to reach yourself.
Rayleigh paid your words no mind as he continued to push you to your finish. While you may have been saying one thing, your body could never lie, and told him exactly what you needed. He knew you were close. And there was no way he wouldn’t give his baby what he knew she needed.
“You gonna make a mess on my face pretty girl? You gonna cum for me, beautiful?” he said as his pace increased. His fingers relentlessly hitting that spot inside of you as he watched you furiously nod your head. He hummed in approval as he continued to lap at your clit. The way he massaged you inside and out made your hips attempt to buck into his face.
He grows harder at the sound of your voice moments before you came undone. you probably didn’t even realize that your voice started to get high pitched and whiny as you tried to warn him of your inevitable fate. With one last stroke of his tongue, and one last thrust of his fingers you started to scream.
You looked ethereal as you reached your climax. He groans as you tugs at his hair, but he doesn’t let up. He continues to slam his fingers into her as her walls clenched at his fingers.
The tension in your body felt like a rubber band that had been pulled so taut that eventually it snapped. Your orgasm crashed on you so strongly that instinctively you tried to move away from the constant pleasure that Rayleigh gave you. His arm pressed into the back of your things prevented you from doing so. The next best thing was to grip his hair as you rode out your climax. you threw your head back in silence as you took in a deep breath and screamed.
Rayleigh continued to work you through your orgasm while listening to the beautiful sounds that fell from your mouth. He grinded himself into the bed at the sound of your voice. It was a mixture of moans and his name. And he knew right then that his name never sounded better than when it was coming from your mouth.
Without relenting, he continued to caress you with his mouth, only slowing up a little when he felt your body relax a bit after that high. Only giving you a moment of rest, knowing that he wasn’t going to stop there. He wanted to force your mind into a state of overstimulated bliss. And he knew exactly how to do that.
you tried to wiggle out of his grasp and away from his sinful ministrations. you needed a break after having an orgasm that strong, but the pressure on your legs became stronger. you was still rendered immobile and at the mercy of Silvers Rayleigh.
“Silvers, p-please. It’s too much,” you whined. Her mind was fuzzy at best. Still floating somewhere above your body and you couldn’t bring it back down.
“But I thought you wanted my attention?” he teased from between your legs. He pulled his fingers from you and shoved them in your mouth to keep you quiet. “I know when you’ve had too much sweetheart, and right now, your body is telling me you haven’t had enough.”
This time he took his mouth off your clit to let you have a moment before he forced his tongue into you. A completely different feeling than his fingers, as your body tensed in appreciation. Groaning at the taste of your climax, he dug his tongue as deep as it could go into you. His nose bumping against your clit as he did so.
“Oh fuck oh fuck fuck fuck…” you chanted at the feel of his tongue in you. He expertly explored every inch of you that he could reach while building you up again. He bobbed his head between your legs as he drank every ounce your body so generously gave. If he could spend the rest of his life in this moment, he thinks he would never leave. Thankful for the fact that you chose him. That you allowed him to be the one who you allowed to please you. He wanted to spend the rest of his life thanking you for that fact.
He took his fingers from your mouth and brought them back down to your core. Now that they were wet with your own saliva, he brought them to your clit, and rubbed it to the same pace as his tongue. Your body the instrument he knew how to play best.
It didn’t take long at all before another orgasm washed over you. Not as powerful as the first, but just as satisfying. The feeling of being restrained making it that much better.
You felt as if you could breathe again now that he finally decided that you had enough. He pulled his face away from you and gently released your legs. They flopped back down onto the bed as you were unable to control them. You watched as Rayleigh made his way up your body until he eventually made it to your face.
“You doin alright sweetheart?” he asked with a big smile on his face. You said nothing as you pulled him down for a kiss. You moaned at the taste of yourself on his lips and in his mouth. You tried to win the fight to see who would lead the kiss, but you lost immediately. Happily surrendering to the gentle caresses of Rayleigh.
The two of you stayed like that for a moment, enjoying being with each other in a moment of peace. But it was only a matter of time before you became needy again. Your hands drifting down to the waistband of his pants. Clumsily fumbling with the fabric between your fingers.
“Take these off” you mumbled into his mouth as he pulled away to take a breath. He chuckled at your eagerness.
“Should I? Cause I remember distinctly a few moments ago when you said it was ‘too much’ and how you wanted me to stop,” he teased. His smirk growing bigger at the sight of your lips forming into a pout.
Your fingers finally made their way under the waistband as it was your turn to ignore his words. You shimmed them down, until he finally caved and took the rest of them off himself. Your mouth watered at the sight of him.
Silvers Rayleigh was an attractive man in his younger years as he sailed with Roger. But how he looked then has nothing on what he looks like now as an older man. Nothing about him said old unless you account for the gray hair atop his head. Even in his old age, he looked as good as he did when he was younger. Even better now. And that even went for what he held between his legs.
Your mouth watered at the sight of him. Wanting nothing more than to take him into your mouth. It was almost as if he read your mind as he brought your attention back to him.
“Let me just take care of you, okay sweetheart? We’ve the rest of our lives for you to-” you whined in embarrassment.
“Silverssss don’t say it” he laughed at your bashfulness.
“Sweetheart…I just had my head between your legs and you just finished screaming to high heavens, and you're embarrassed about how-” You pulled him down to cut him off. You couldn’t help what you were embarrassed by.
He relented with a smile as he kissed you back.
“You ready sweetheart?” he asked. You could sense a little restraint in his voice as he rubbed himself against you. Sliding himself along your center, letting the wet mess he left between your legs transfer onto him as well.
You eagerly nod, excited to have him properly fuck you.
“I gotta hear you ask for it,” he teased kissing along the expanse of your neck. “Let me hear you ask me, yeah?”
Knowing you weren’t going to get your way unless you did as he asked, you swallowed the last embarrassment you had in your body. There was no way you were going to cheat yourself out of this after so long just because some things made you embarrassed. You already knew he was going to make you feel amazing, so you just had to give in.
“Yes. I’m ready, please fuck me,” you asked quietly as you wrapped your legs around him in an attempt to bring him closer.
Grabbing your hips to pull you closer, he pushed himself into you. Groaning at how you felt. Moving slowly until he completely bottomed out, his hips touching yours. His breathing turned a bit heavy as he waited for you to adjust to him.
It really must have been a while due to how you both reacted. No matter how many times the two of you had slept together, somehow it always felt like the first.
Intoxicating.
You felt full as you grabbed at his back to pull him in. His muscles stiff beneath your fingers as you grasp at his shoulders for purchase.
He slowly pulls all the way out to force himself back in.
“Still so tight for me princess,” he groans as he begins to thrust into you, “gonna be good and let me use you hmm?”
“Yes yes yes please use me,” you don’t care how pathetic you sound. You were finally getting what you craved for so long. You were needy and you knew he was going to take care of you.
He folds her legs once more so that your knees are bent near your chest while your feet dangle by his ear. He uses his body weight to slam into you, driving you up the bed. He ruts desperately into you, addicted to how you feel squeezing around him.
His thrusts are rough and punishing and the tip of him kisses the back of you, kissing your cervix each time he bullied his way into you.
Your eyes quickly glazed over once again and the nonstop pressure of him knocking into your spot. The constant bombardment of him forcing himself into you too much for you to take at once, yet you needed more.
Resting your ankles onto his shoulders, he leaned forward to capture you in another kiss. Trying to hold himself out longer. How you were looking at him combined with the sinful noises falling out of your mouth with how tight, wet, and hot you felt around him, he wasn’t going to last much longer.
“Pleasepleasepleaseplease don’t stop please please,” you breathily chanted in his ear. You were close to your third orgasm of the night and needed him to give you everything.
He brought one hand and grabbed at your neck, while the other slid down your body and began to rub hasty circles onto your clit.
“Gonna be a good girl and cum on me? I wanna see you lose yourself again pretty girl,” he praised as he worked you to your end. His pace never faltered as he leaned over and put more of his weight onto your body.
Intoxicating. That’s all Rayleigh could think of as he fucked you deeply into the mattress. The sound of your skin slapping against him made him groan at the filthy thought. He wanted to make sure you never felt forgotten again, and with the way you were babbling nothing but his name, it was safe to say that he achieved his goal. That and how adorable you looked losing yourself over his dick.  Over him. “...only you Silvers…” your previous words coming back to the forefront of his mind. You were going to make him lose his mind.
You let him use your body, scratching at his back as he forcefully brings you closer and closer to a praecipe.
Maybe it was because you were overstimulated. Maybe it was because it had been so long since the two of you slept together. Or maybe it was because of how he played your body perfectly…something about this orgasm felt different.  You placed your hands on his hips trying to slow him down. “Ohfuckohfuckohfuckohfuck w-wait s-slow d-down Silvers!” You squeal. The back of your thighs tensing against his chest. You felt as if your body was trying to leave you.
He only held you a little tighter response. He’s got you right where he wanted you.Your body may try and leave you, but he would make sure it stayed exactly where he wanted it to in his hold.
He was going to be the death of you…but you craved him all the same.
You tried to hold out. You were about to make a mess and it didn’t seem like he cared. To be completely honest, it kinda felt like he knew that and continued his brutal pace anyway. His hips move in an almost primal way. It was as if he was digging the orgasm from deep within you.
“Just let go for me sweetheart…I got you, I promise,” he whispered in your ear.
Turns out, that was the final straw as you finally let yourself fall over into bliss. Rayleigh continued to fuck you through it all while praising you. Holding your body to the mattress so you didn’t ruin your own orgasm.
“There she goesssss, come on baby,” he grunted, bullying his way into your contracting walls. He wanted you to milk him dry. The way you were squeezing him made his pace falter. “You’re being so good f ‘me hmm?”
This time you did actually forget how to breathe as your mouth was open in a silent scream. Your nails scratched at his back as your third orgasm washed over you almost painfully. It took you by surprise how strongly it came. It was so earth shattering that you actually started to cry.
“Thankyouthankyouthankyouthankyou…” he groans at your words. At how you thank him for how he makes you feel, when he should be the one thanking you. He moans when he feels how wet you’ve gotten, realizing that he’s made you squirt. It wasn’t his intention this time, but he’s saved this information for the next time he’s got you trapped underneath him.
“What a messy baby hmm?”
His heart swells as he looks down at you. A heavenly sight that he feels lucky enough to have gotten the chance to see. Let alone be the reason he could even have the view.
“Where do you want me,” he growls into your ear, “tell me where you want me baby?” he asks kissing behind your ear, removing his hands from your neck and clit. Moving them to rest on both sides of your head.
“Want you inside,” she cries, “I wanna be full of you Silvers.”
In that moment Rayleigh would do anything you asked him to. If you wanted him to build you a ship and sail you to the New World, he’d do it without an ounce of shame and with a smile on his face. Anything for his baby girl.
“That’s my girl. Let me take care of you baby…” trapping your legs between the two of you, and used you to chase his own end. With only a couple more thrusts he bottomed out completely and finished deep inside with your name as a whisper on his breath. You feel amazing as you take everything he has to offer as he lightly thrusts into you. Finishing with a deep groan into your ear. He quietly keeps you flushed to him as he rocks into you, his way of silently worshiping you and your body. His way of thanking you for trusting him. The silence not needing to be filled as the unspoken words say enough.
He lowers himself closer to your front, as your legs slowly let go of his abdomen. He places lazy kisses along your neck as the both of you try to catch your breath. You two sit in silence for a moment before he slowly pulls himself from you. He covers himself as he quickly leaves the room to grab you a glass of water.
He comes back with a warm rag along with a glass of water. He sets the water down on the bedside table and gently begins to clean you up. His movements slow and calculated, being careful to not wipe too harshly in fear of overstimulating you anymore. When he cleans you up to his liking, he tosses the rag into the hamper in the corner of the room and guides you to sit up in bed.
“Drink some water for me princess,” he coos. You blush as the older man dotes on you and you do as he says, sitting up and taking small sips of the water. All you wanted to do was lay and cuddle with him, as your preferred method of aftercare, but you knew that he was just doing what he needed to before he indulged.
After you drank what he felt was enough, he took the glass from you, took a large sip himself and set the glass back on the table. He laid back into bed and pulled you onto his front so that you could lay your head on his chest.
“How are you feeling sweetheart? You back with me?” He rubbed your back and brought the blankets up to cover your body as he stroked your hair. He knew that after a passionate session, you typically needed coaxing to come back to reality. It was his favorite way of taking care of you. Having you lay here completely vulnerable while you placed your complete trust in him made his heart soar. He would never dream of taking advantage of what the two of you have built.
You answered him with a hum, snuggling more into his chest, chasing after the warmth his body provided. Your eyes started closing to the feel of his hands rubbing soothing patterns on you.
“I’m…perfect,” you manage to say after finding your voice. Your voice was a bit scratchy, but you laid there wholeheartedly happy and satisfied. Knowing he wouldn’t be happy until he heard your voice.
“You did so well for me princess. Was it okay? Did I go too hard on you?” He asked a bit worriedly. While you never said your safe word, he couldn’t help but be a little worried after each session. Wanting to make sure that he only ever made you feel good.
“You were perfect Silvers. Honestly, I’d like it if you were a little more rough with me. Not that rough everytime, but…ya know,” she said as she traced her finger up and down his abs. Sex with Rayleigh most of the time was soft and slow. And while you didn’t have a problem with it (Rayleigh made sure you were satisfied each time), being manhandled is something that you wish would happen a bit more often. It melts your heart that this strong man treats you with the fragility and tenderness of ceramic, but you like to be broke once in a while.
“Strongly noted,” he chuckled as he placed a kiss on top of your head. “Shakky will be happy I didn’t break the bed this time.”
“Yeah well, with how you had me folded, I’m surprised I didn’t break,” she giggled.
“Well if you want me to break you then you only need to ask,” he teased as one of his hands snaked down to your ass and gave it a slight squeeze.
“Strongly noted.”
Literally foaming at the mouth I love him so much we're actually married. Shakky and I tease him all the time
dragon's hoard ship: natsu dragneel x lucy heartfilia summary: Natsu's got a weird new habit that Lucy can't quite seem to wrap her head around. She supposes that's just par for the course when it comes to having a dragon as a best friend. ao3
Nalu Week Day 5: Gifts
Tumblr media
The sound of excited footsteps that had long become familiar to Lucy came exactly when she had expected them to.
She was sitting comfortably on the couch, indulging herself in a new novel, when Natsu came bursting into her home. He had the decency to use the door but not the decency to knock, though Lucy supposed she would take the wins wherever she could get them.
"How was the job?" She asked, shutting her book before placing it down on the coffee table in front of her and giving him her undivided attention upon his arrival.
"It was kind of lame," Natsu shrugged in response as he tossed his pack to the floor and flopped down onto the couch next to her. "It’s boring without you around."
About two months prior, Lucy had been offered a massive book deal for a sequel to The Adventure of Iris, which in turn had her stuck at home a lot as she worked on her manuscript. The contract sufficiently paid her rent, which meant she had no real need to take on new jobs, but that didn’t mean she didn’t miss it. Though perhaps no one missed her taking jobs more than her partner, who had been forced to go out on his own.
"I know," she smiled, holding back a laugh at his borderline pouty expression that always crossed his face when he expressed his discontent with having to take jobs without her. "Once I’m done with my manuscript, we can take on as many jobs as you like."
"Promise?"
"Promise."
His expression seemed to relax at her words, seemingly tided over by the prospect of going on adventures with her again once she was free of her obligations as an author.
"I actually got you something while I was gone," he added, before the conversation could stray too far.
Leaning over the side of the couch, he began to rummage through his pack, and all Lucy could do was sit and watch, caught slightly off guard.
This was a new Natsu behaviour that she had noticed popping up more and more frequently. Ever since he had been forced to go on jobs without Lucy, he had begun bringing back souvenirs and trinkets for her.
This wasn’t the first time he had gone solo on jobs, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last, but this whole gift thing was something he had never done until recently. At first it was once every other job, then it was every single job, and now it had extended to outside of him taking jobs too.
It had started with small things—cool-shaped rocks and shells that he had foraged while he was out—but then it had turned into things of increasing traditional value, like vintage books he had found at a second-hand market and shiny pieces of jewellery that he claimed had caught his eye.
She had kept everything that he had given her over the past few months, amassing a collection of things, trinkets, and knick-knacks around her apartment. Most of them she displayed wherever she had the space, and it almost seemed as if Natsu beamed with pride every time he caught a glimpse of his new gift decorating her bookshelf.
"What is it?" She asked, peering over his shoulder to try to catch a peek at what he was bringing out for her.
When he finally turned back around, in his hand he held out to her a piece of polished rose quartz. It had been a while since he had gifted her a stone or rock of some sort, but this was the first time he had given her a gem of any kind.
She took it into her own hand and examined it carefully, running her thumb over the smooth surface. It was a soft pink with ribbons of white running through it. The overhead lights reflected off of the shiny surface, accentuating the natural gradients in the colour of the stone.
"This is really pretty," she mused before looking back up at Natsu, who seemed to be eagerly awaiting her reaction. "Thank you."
He seemed to light up knowing that she had liked his gift, and her heart jumped a little at just how cute he looked as he did.
"Where did you get this?" She asked, her curiosity piqued at where Natsu would find something like that.
"I bought it from this guy sellin’ rocks at a market," he shrugged, thinking it wasn't much of a big deal.
A twinge of guilt hit her as she thought about the fact that Natsu had spent money on her. Sure, maybe this wasn’t something of significant monetary value, but she worried that over time, all of these gifts would build up and cause a dent in his savings.
"Natsu, you don’t have to keep getting me things," she gently told him, placing the rock down on her coffee table and turning her attention back up to him.
Based on the way Natsu frowned at her words, it seemed that he didn’t share her worries.
"But I want to," he replied. "Do you not like them?"
"Of course I like them," Lucy assured. "But I don’t need them. Your friendship is enough for me."
"I want to give them to you," he repeated, and Lucy was caught off guard by how defensive he sounded this time.
She hadn’t thought that it would hurt his feelings; she had simply wanted to give him an out if he had somehow thought himself obligated to bring her these gifts.
"I’m sorry," she murmured, resting her hand on his thigh to try to comfort him. "I didn’t mean to upset you."
He sucked in a breath to try and cool himself down before mumbling a soft apology.
"Sorry… I just… saw it and thought of you."
Lucy didn’t have it in her to be upset with him. He had gone out of his way to do something kind for her, so she understood why he got a little defensive.
It wasn’t that she didn’t appreciate them; she was simply used to receiving extravagant gifts as a means to win over her father’s favour when she was a child. Suddenly being showered with gifts by Natsu was just unexpected. She knew he had no sinister ulterior motive, so if this was what he wanted, she would let him.
She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, pulling him into a hug and nuzzling her face into the crook of his neck. He stiffened up for a moment before he realised what she was doing and relaxed into her touch, holding her close.
"Thank you, Natsu," she hummed against his skin. "I really appreciate it."
As much as she appreciated Natsu’s little gifts, she was beginning to run out of space to display them neatly on her shelves. Her new stone had been placed on her vanity next to her jewellery box for the past week as she tried to figure out how she was going to organise her little collection.
Several times she had glanced over at it and assumed that she had left a piece out, only to realise that it was just Natsu’s gift. Having it sat and displayed next to her few necklaces dangling from her display rack struck her with the idea of turning it into one too.
On her next trip into town, she took the stone to a jeweller to have it attached to a chain.
It was a little pricey, especially considering how infrequently she wore necklaces, but it was a sentimental gift, and she considered the cost to be worth it.
She had it attached to a thin gold chain with a gold fastening on top. It was simple and elegant, and let the stone act as the statement.
The piece was an immediate attention-grabber when she wore it out to meet her teammates at the station for their next job.
She had arrived early but could somehow never beat Erza or Wendy in that regard, who were both already waiting for her and the rest of the team to show up.
After an exchange of polite greetings, Erza’s attention was grabbed by her new piece of jewellery, her gaze flicking down to examine it.
"I like your necklace," she mused. "You don’t normally wear jewellery. Is this new?"
Lucy looked down at it, taking the stone in her hands and running it idly across the chain.
"Yeah, just the other day," she replied.
"Where did you get it from?" Wendy chimed in, also seemingly drawn in by Lucy’s new piece.
"Natsu actually got the stone for me," Lucy explained. "I got it turned into a necklace because I thought it looked nice."
Wendy blinked and recoiled the slightest bit, looking taken off guard by her answer, which raised suspicions in Lucy’s mind.
"Is everything okay, Wendy?" She asked in concern for her friend.
"Yeah! It’s just, I didn’t know that he-" She cut herself off as if she had been about to say something she shouldn’t have. "I mean, I think that’s really sweet of him."
Lucy raised her eyebrows, surprised by her strange and disjointed answer. She almost wished she could see inside her brain and know what she was thinking to explain her behaviour, but before she could interrogate further, she was interrupted by the arrival of their final teammates.
"Hey!" Natsu called out from behind them, drawing their attention to the two boys approaching.
Lucy waved as Erza beckoned them to approach faster, but anything she might have wanted to say to them as they arrived was immediately cut off when Natsu’s attention was drawn to her new accessory.
Without saying anything, he took the pendant in his hand and examined it, almost as if he were just making sure that it was his stone.
"You made it into a necklace?" He asked, dropping the pendant and letting it fall back on her chest, sounding almost breathless as he spoke.
"Yeah," Lucy affirmed, bringing her own hand up to fiddle with the necklace. "It was important to me, and I didn’t want to lose it."
Natsu practically lit up at her words, grinning from ear to ear before he pulled her into an unexpected and crushing hug.
"That’s awesome!" He whooped, drawing several confused stares in their direction.
She had known he’d probably think it was cool, but she hadn’t expected quite this reaction. Natsu was easily excitable, but even this was a bit much. She decided not to comment on it and simply return his affection.
All the gifts and excitement were a little endearing, she had decided. Natsu had always been an odd sort of guy, showing his affection for those he loved in strange ways. She simply decided that she was going to take this in stride.
It had seemed that taking it in stride only encouraged Natsu’s unusual behaviour.
Lucy hadn’t thought it had been possible for him to give her more things, but his gift-giving increased in its frequency, seeming like he was trying to one-up himself with each trinket and tchotchke.
She didn’t have the heart to tell him that she physically didn’t have any more room to store his gifts, lest her apartment begin to turn into a hoarder’s house, resembling his own. Every time he brought her something, his eyes would light up when she smiled and thanked him, and it made her heart melt.
She supposed there were worse problems to have than a dragon’s hoard sitting in a shoebox beneath her bed.
The mug of tea Mira slid over to her warmed Lucy’s hands as she sat across from Levy, both idly flicking through their books as they chattered away about their goings-on.
"So what’s been going on with you lately?" Levy hummed before taking a sip of her own drink.
Lucy paused for a moment as she thought of how she should respond. She could make idle conversation, tell her not much, and let their talks remain surface level and light-hearted, but right now, she had more… pressing matters on her mind.
"I’ve been having a sort of… weird problem," she sighed, unsure of how to accurately describe her predicament.
Levy tilted her head slightly in curiosity, a silent plea for her to continue.
"Natsu keeps giving me all these things that I don’t know what to do with," she began to explain. "I tried to tell him he doesn’t need to get me all of these things, but then he got all defensive. Now I’m literally running out of space to put them, but I just can’t seem to say no to him because he looks so excited. I don’t know what to do, Levy."
Levy brought up a hand to stifle the laugh that she was about to let out, and Lucy raised her brows, caught off guard by her strange reaction.
"What?" She pouted, clearly not having received the response she wanted.
"It’s nothing; it’s just-"
Levy took a moment to compose herself, sending Lucy a soft but somehow sympathetic smile that she wasn’t exactly sure what to make of.
"That’s really cute and sweet of him, but I’m not sure I can help you out with this one," she gently replied. "I think this is one you’ll have to figure out on your own."
Lucy let out a defeated huff, wanting to rebut but knowing it was no use.
It wasn’t like she wanted him to stop; she was just confused and overwhelmed by it all. If this went on for much longer, she wasn’t sure she’d be able to keep up.
Just as she was about to beg Levy for the teeniest, tiniest ounce of advice, a drop of a clue, a tiny morsel of what she would do in this situation, she was cut off by a gruff voice approaching.
"The bunny girl’s got dragon problems, eh?" Gajeel butted in as he dropped himself on the chair next to Levy, tossing an arm over her shoulder. "Didn’t know Salamander ‘new how ta court a woman," he added, taking a moment to laugh at his own joke.
"Gajeel," Levy warned in a low tone, trying to keep quiet in hopes that Lucy wouldn’t hear, but the action wasn’t exactly subtle.
"What?" He replied, his attention fully on Levy as she looked up at him with an attempt at an intimidating pout. "I’m just sayin’ that the bastard’s finally figured out-"
Whatever he was about to say was quickly interrupted by an elbow jab to the side, clearly trying to get him to stop talking.
"Ow- the fuck was that for?
"You have to let him do it himself," Levy hissed back, trying to remain subtle as she did so.
They spoke openly, right in front of her, as though she weren’t there, and even though they had tried to conceal themselves, Lucy could still very much follow along with their conversation.
"What do you mean by that?" Lucy asked, interrupting their little lover’s quarrel.
Levy whipped her head back around to face her friend, apparently having forgotten about her presence since Gajeel’s arrival.
"It’s nothing!" Levy smiled, sweeping their exchange under the rug.
"I want to know what he meant by that," Lucy repeated.
Perhaps even stranger than Natsu’s behaviour had been the unusual reactions she received when she spoke about it. First was Wendy; now Levy and Gajeel were somehow in on it.
Was this just some weird dragon-slayer thing she didn’t know about?
She looked over to Gajeel, expecting him to elaborate, but based on the way he seemed to shrink under Levy’s gaze, she wasn’t about to have much success there.
"I can’t tell ya," he grumbled.
Figuring she wasn’t going to be able to crack him, Lucy turned her attention back to her best friend.
"Levy, please," she whined. "I’m at my wits end; I feel like I’m the only one out of the loop here."
"I’m sorry Lucy, I-"
Lucy interrupted her as she reached across the table to take her hands in her own as she pleaded with her.
"Please, Levy," she tried again. "I’ll pay off all your late fees at the library for a month if you just tell me," she offered in a desperate plea.
She could see her resolve wavering in her eyes, but she still held her ground, much to Lucy’s dismay.
"It wouldn’t be fair to Natsu if I told you," Levy replied sympathetically. "He has to do it himself."
"Do what himself?" Lucy asked, frustration seeping from her voice.
"Clearly he’s not doin’ a fuckin’ good job if bunny girl’s here beggin’ you to help ‘er figure it out," Gajeel added, looking thoroughly unimpressed by the whole scenario.
For a moment, Lucy thought Levy was about to cave, but she maintained her silence.
In a last-ditch effort, Lucy tried to muster up her best pleading eyes, and it seemed like that was the last thing needed to tip Levy over the edge.
"It’s a dragon thing," she vaguely explained.
Lucy bolted back upright at this new sliver of information.
So, her hunch had been correct, but that still didn’t explain why everyone was acting so weird about it.
Realising that Lucy probably wouldn’t be satisfied with just that information, Levy continued.
"He’s trying to court you."
Lucy remained silent for a moment as she tried to process what she had just heard.
Court her?
As in to woo? To romance?
There was no way.
All this time, she had put it down to Natsu just showing his affection, but she hadn’t realised it had been that type of affection.
With this new piece of information, things started to fall into place. He was literally helping her create her own dragon hoard.
Suddenly it made so much more sense when he got so defensive about it—because he thought she was rejecting him.
After a few moments of silence and realising that Lucy wasn’t going to reply any time soon, Levy spoke up.
"Lulu?" Her voice came, soft and gentle. "Do you need some time alone to think about it?"
Lucy simply shook her head.
"No," she replied. "I think I know what I’m going to do."
Gathering up her things, Lucy stood up and tossed her bag over her shoulder before pausing and looking down at Levy.
"You don’t mind if I cut our lunch short, do you?"
With a smile, Levy shook her head.
"Go ahead."
With her blessing, Lucy ran out the door, waving to her friend in thanks as she ran to exactly where she knew Natsu would be.
When Lucy arrived back at her apartment, the lights were unsurprisingly on, and a suspiciously dragon-slayer-sized lump had formed in her bed.
"Natsu," she called out, causing the lump of blankets to stir. "I’m back."
Upon hearing of her return, Natsu instantly awoke and tossed the blankets off of him, sitting upright and beaming at her, and for a moment, Lucy almost wondered if this was what it was like to own a puppy.
"Hey!" He greeted enthusiastically before slipping out of her bed. "I thought you were at the guild hangin’ out with Levy."
"I was," she hummed. "But I just thought I’d come home a little early this afternoon."
"That’s good, ‘cause I actually got ya something!"
He rummaged around in his pocket before he pulled something out and opened his hand to reveal it to her.
"Me ‘n’ Happy went fishing, and I found this cool-shaped rock for you!" He exclaimed, the familiar grin making itself present on his face.
Her expression softened as she took it from him, running her thumb across the surface, feeling each bump and crack against her skin.
"Hey, Natsu?" She began softly, feeling like there was no time more appropriate than now to bring it up. "Can I ask you something?"
"Yeah, course," he replied, his brows furrowing slightly in concern. "What’s up?"
"Are you trying to court me?" She blurted out, not putting too much thought into how she was going to get her message across.
He responded with a blank stare.
"What does that mean?" He asked.
"Like, trying to romance me," Lucy tried to explain, not exactly being her most eloquent self in doing so.
Natsu stayed quiet for a moment as he tried to mentally articulate a response.
"Is it working?"
She hadn’t known how he was going to respond, but she hadn’t been expecting him to do so like that.
There was a hopeful expression on his face, and if it hadn’t worked before then, it certainly had now.
Feeling an overwhelming sense of endearment, Lucy rolled her eyes slightly but didn’t reply. Instead, she placed her rock down on her mattress and brought her hands up to caress his cheeks before pulling him in to feel his lips against hers.
MINORS, BE GONE. 🔫
Tumblr media
He was furious, positively livid about this current situation. Law didn't often think of himself as a man to easily fall prey to pesky feelings such as jealousy, he trusted and had enough confidence in his partner to not be bothered by mindless emotions. But one summer day was enough to throw his mind into a loop.
Tumblr media
As if this alliance wasn't bothersome enough, apparently Kid had somehow picked up on his relationship - perhaps noticing how he tended to follow her with his gaze whenever she was around such strange territory, like an instinct of protectiveness over a loved one. Most of the Straw Hats seemed to have picked up on it too, as their knowing smiles told him everything, but even then, it changed nothing on the behavior of the Kid Pirate’s Captain and the damn Cook - as Zoro-ya would say. If anything, it only made them more annoying (Eustass) and competitive (Blackleg) for her attention.
The last straw to this ongoing problem came in the form of a very warm day, the ocean breeze doing nothing to help the pirates from feeling the heat wave, forcing those who couldn’t as easily go for a swim to change into something more comfortable - and minimal.
Eliza wasn’t one for revealing attires, but the weather forced her in favoring a black tank top and shorts, a wet hand towel fixed in her shoulder to help cope with the temperature and clean the constant sweat rolling down her face.
The last thing she wished was to leave the infirmary of the Polar Tang, probably the only place refrigerated in the whole submarine - as many medicaments stored should’ve been kept in regulated temperature, to not be altered in any way. A fact that she and Bepo used to their advantage, spending most the day cooped inside that room, always suffering by the time they had to leave for their respective rooms or to go on an errand for their captain.
And it was one of those insufferable moments that had her leaving the ship in search of her partner and crew’s leader. She needed his approval for a new research, and he just had to be outside in a meeting with his new ‘friends’, forcing her to walk through scalding sun to reach the Thousands Sunny (what a fitting name too).
By the time she reached him, she was a deep shade of red, sweating from every pore and positively livid. She didn’t even bother to greet anyone in her path, just moving towards her captain's side and poking him with the clipboard to catch his attention.
But what truly had caught the attention of not only him, but most men sitting around, was how pretty she looked with her chest heaving, face and neck flushed, sweat dripping through her protuberant cleavage in that (now wet) tank top, and oh, how that shorts hugged her thighs and ‘assets’. He could feel himself growing hot under the collar, immediately sensing how many pairs of gazes were doing the exact same, pissing him off to no end. “What?” Law glared at his second doctor on board (and lover), not only bothered by the interruption, but by the situation at hand.
Not surprised with how she didn’t mind the bite on his speech, already used to his temperament as she was. She just rolled her eyes in disapproval, not really in the mood to deal with whatever was going through his mind at the moment; he just needed to sign the damn paper and she’d be gone, won’t be a bother anymore. “Just take a look and sign it if it’s to your agreement, captain.” She could hear the snickers from the other pirates, but chose to ignore, just as much used to the typical childish behavior of the group.
In truth, the doctor hadn’t paid attention about the tension going on around the meeting, imagining it was already at hand when she walked in, but she did noticed, at the moment she was going to hand the pen and clipping board to her captain and boyfriend, how the pen was magnetically pulled away from her hand, causing a frustrated groan to escape her lips. Both Heart Pirates glared at Kid, already knowing it was his doing - as he didn’t even bother to hide it, fingers still in the air and shit-eat grin consuming his semblance from his little prank.
Any other time, she’d have given him a piece of her mind - perhaps even called him a manchild clown, as she usually liked to refer to him. But with the sun burning her skin and no patience to stay even another second with those rowdy creatures, she chose instead to click her tongue at his childish antics and move to grab the pen from the floor. And that was exactly what the ginger man expected of her.
From somewhere near the kitchen, a loud moan like whimper erupted from the Straw Hat’s chef form, nose bleeding in a fountain of crimson red fluid. Eustass Kid with all the audacity contained in one chaotic man, had pulled his chair enough to thoroughly run his gaze at the heart pirate girl’s chubby thighs and cheeks peeking through her shorts, a knowing smirk directed at her lover (like a menace that he was). “Well, ain’t that a nice view.” Even Killer was heard clearing his throat from behind his mask, not able to hide how his neck flushed in different shades of red. From the people attending the meeting, only Zoro and Luffy seemed displeased and confused (respectively) about what was happening.
And if Law was clearly infuriated before, there was no doubt about it now. Eliza didn’t really had the time to chastise the other captain for the nonsense, before her partner was up from his chair, pushing it back with such force that everyone around the area of the reunion had stopped to stare at the situation in a diversity of expressions - confused, amused, surprised.
But there was no time to question his actions, before she was dragged away from the Straw Hat’s ship, absolutely bewildered by his actions. Even from afar, they could still hear how Kid hollered in laughter, absolutely victorious in being a little shit
Papers and meeting forgotten, he pulled her back to their own ship, barely contained rage clear in the set of his shoulders, in the tension around his clenched jaw and how firm he held her wrist. How he wished in that moment that he wasn’t in an alliance with those men, how good would it feel to take their eyes out of their sockets and pop it out in the sea, never again would they bother to desire something that wasn’t theirs.
He ignored the confused glances from their crewmates, not stopping his furious pace till they reached his office, letting go of her then to close the door behind. Both of his hands coming up to bang against it in a release of pent up anger energy, slow inhale and exhale leaving his body as he still had his back turned to his partner, frustration clear in his posture.
And she could only stare, utterly stupefied. She couldn’t remember a situation where he acted so impulsively before, couldn’t understand how a simple prank from Eustass could’ve infuriated her partner so much, as she had no idea of the ginger man’s true intention in using her shapely forms to pick a fight with her boyfriend for the sake of it. And how close he was to actually give in to the temptation of mayhem Eustass Kid and fuck up his entire plans with their alliance in a moment of fury and possessiveness.
Before she could even ask why he acted in such a way, he was moving again. Both hands grabbing her face, intense look on his semblance, forcing her to look back at his blazing amber iris. “Do you not understand how fucking provoking you are right now?” To her confused look, he continued. “Those fu-” A furious exhale. “They were all fucking you with their eyes!”
She waited for him to finish exploding before rolling her eyes affectionately. For such a smart man, he was so very easy to aggravate  “They are bloody morons, Law. They are toying with you, don’t let them.” Hands coming up to grab at his slender ones, she took her time kissing each of his palms, caressing his knuckles between her fingers in a soothing manner, before speaking again. “And you know you are the only one that can have me, anyway. I’m Yours.”
Clicking his tongue in false mockery, he allowed her to soothe him. Entire body relaxing under her ministrations, gaze softening at her mellow eyes. He knew she was right, but it didn’t help the sense of indignation to consume his brain - it had only calmed his heart enough to push those thoughts bothering him to the back of his mind, and focus on what was important; remind himself that yes, she was only his.
They could only wish to graze their lips along her jaw and neck like he currently was, leaving goosebumps in its wake. They could only imagine how it would be to taste the saltiness of her skin, to nip and suck at it, marking the column of her neck, eliciting such a delectable gasp from her mouth. How good it felt to run his tongue along her pulse, feel her heart beating so fast and rhythmically under it, having her so obedient and docile, whimpering quietly in pleasure as she allowed his possessive acts to continue. Mine. All mine.
He took his time in marking her, kissing his way back to her face only when he was satisfied with his work. A soft whisper of his name was her answer, as he thumbed her lower lip and deciding it should be mark it as his just the same, nipping and tonguing it, before giving in to the feeling of molding their lips together, sparks of pleasure running through their body from the simple act. Addicted to her taste.
She melted in his arms as he explored her beyond the barriers of her clothing, tattooed hands grabbing at her soft hips and sides, reaching up her spine till he could feel the hooks from her bra, expert fingers unhooking it to free her heavy breasts of their confines, making the shy woman pull back and look at him in a inquisitive manner. “La- Ah, Law. It’s too early, people will hear us.”
He only smirked down at her, reaching for his own shirt and pulling it over his head in a little show of sexy appeal - flushing her skin further, before giving her an answer. “Don’t worry, they won’t hear us. The office is sound proof, why do you think I brought you here?” ‘Oh’ is all she could answer, before he stalked after her with a predatory glimmer in his golden eyes. He had already planned his actions from the moment he got up from his chair in fury, and he would see his plans executed by possessing and marking her - making sure no one forgets who she belonged to.
And she didn’t seem to mind, licking her lips in nervousness but anticipation. No matter how many years they spent together, she never got used to how handsome her boyfriend was, all lean and ripped muscles, tattoos and tanned skin shining with sweat, enough to make one want to lick it clean for him. She could already feel heat pooling between her legs, mind fogging with need - and he had barely touched her beyond blemishing her neck and shoulders, just now reaching to finish taking her upper garments from her body, observing all skin being slowly bared to him like a starved man uncovering his favorite meal, grinning wildly at her shy reactions.
In her daze, she didn't realize they were moving, till the moment her legs hit the back of his office desk. Neither she had the time to react to it, as the moment her shirt came off, he had both his hands squeezing her voluptuous chest together, thumbs rolling her sensitive nipples, sending bolts of pleasure through her body direct into her core, making the woman clutch into the desk for support, eyes closing to focus on the sensation.
A shocked cry as she felt the wet muscle of his tongue circling one nipple, followed by the suction of his lips around it, humming around it before he gave the same treatment to the other, nipping the nub and biting the meat of her breast, just enough to have her jump in surprise and bring her attention back to him, eyes half lidded and pupil blown wide.
God, she was gorgeous, he mused. It was no surprise that others would pay attention to her curves, but never would any of them have the view of her all flushed and excited like this.
Taking the last offending piece of clothing from her body, he appreciated how damp she felt as he fingered over her undergarments. “So fucking wet… All for me, hm?”  Her whimpers didn’t stop his teasing, only grazing his fingers over the thin material of her panties, making her bite back a moan and close her eyes in bashfulness, all contradictory to her actions of thrusting towards his fingers for a real friction. “Tsk. If you want it, you have to ask, ‘Liz.” Holding her ample hip with his free hand, he stopped her movements. It seemed he had decided to be a bastard about this, and she could feel the smirk on his lips as he came closer to speak by her ear. “Be a good girl and say it.”
She could only bite her lips in answer, face flushed from lust and embarrassment. And she knew he was absolutely getting off on it, eyes taking in from the way her legs closed together in sudden modesty to her bright eyes glistened with absolute need, fighting a battle against her own shy nature. But it was the way his index and middle finger slipped inside her panties and teased her inner lips that had her moaning an answer. “Mhm. I- Please. Please, Law.”
“Please what?” What an infuriating man!
“Please. Please, touch m- Ah!” He didn’t waited for her to finish before easily sliding his fingers inside her folds, taking advantage of how wet she was and chuckling at her surprised gasp. He could tease all he wanted, but he was just as much aroused by her actions. Intensely staring at the way her body curved to accommodate more of the length of his tattooed fingers, by the way her full breast bounced as her hips rolled against his large hand, dripping all over it. How pretty she was, letting go of her reservations to moan so unabashedly as his thumb joined the friction, rubbing expertly against her clit as his finger curled and thrusted inside. It was truly a spectacle for his eyes only.
Joining the stimuli, his free hand grazed her perky nipples once again, pinching and pulling. He could feel how close she was to climax - velvety walls spasming and contracting around his curled fingers, mouth hanging open with pleasure. And to push her further into sweet release, another finger joined - E, A and T pushing deep inside her core, ripping a half scream half moan from his lover as she rode his palm. It didn’t last much longer after that, rapid movements and diversity of stimulation leading the woman to a powerful orgasm, holding tight at the desk behind her for support as her toes curled under her, legs shaking as she screamed his name over and over again..
He let her breathe for a moment after that, stepping back to appreciate the wreckage he caused. Absolutely proud of how she looked, a deep flush from her cheeks down to her heaving chest, sweat and arousement dripping down her body - pooling down her legs. Her semblance of thorough contentment as she stared back. Gorgeous. Divine. All his.
A moment was all he allowed her, before stalking back towards his ‘prey’. He wasn’t nearly done with her, consumed by lust and sheer possessiveness, he needed to leave this office without a doubt of who she belonged to, mind filled with nothing but him and the pleasure he provided. “Look at the mess you made…” Smug grin filled the pirate’s semblance as he approached her lips with his juice’s coated hand; a display of erotic glistening tattoos. “Why don’t you lick it clean, hm?”
Already too far into it to feel timid, and perhaps a tad defiant of his domineering act, she gazed back into his amber eyes before grabbing his wrist with assertiveness. “Fine.” And he had only a second to inquisitively arch one eyebrow, before she did just as the tattoo on his fingers were telling her: e-a-t.
Looking right back at him, as she licked her way from the soft pad of his palm to his middle finger, humming as he pushed all three slender fingers inside her mouth, licking each individually as it was the most delicious meal, mix of her own juices and drool running down her lips and sliding down her plump chest.
“Fuck.” If he was turned on before, now he could swear to be losing his damn mind. Not bothering to completely take his bottom garment completely out if body, just using a free hand to unzip and pop his jeans open, shoving it down enough to reveal his lengthy cock, up for attention and already glistening with so much pre-cum. Neither had him the mind to worry about protection, as he knew today would be a day to fill his girl to the brim, primal need to mark her insides as much as he did with her body.
Anticipating his line of action, she could already feel herself opening her legs to accommodate his figure, biting her lips and whining shamefully as he took his fingers from her mouth to clean the desk behind her. He would be busy cleaning later, but he had half the mind to care as he shoved away everything he had around his desk, making room to lay her body for him, grabbing her hips and maneuvering her into pressing her chest against the wood surface, tantalizing ass up in the air for him.
He had no mercy for its paleness, as his hand firmly spanked each of her cheeks till it became feverish red, soothing it with both hands, running his length against its folds and watching with satisfaction as his lover moaned and whimpered for him. “Shhh… Need to mark it well, ‘Liz. So no shithead can think they can have it.”
Making sure to take a firm hold of both chubby cheeks - enough to leave a handprint, he easily slipped his shaft inside her soaked cunt, smirking at the satisfied moan leaving his girl’s mouth as he filled her. “Yeah…? Wanted this cock that bad? It’s yours, baby. Take it.”
From being close or from feeling aggressively excited, Law didn’t bother easing his way into intercourse, immediately setting a brutal pace that filled the room with the sounds of skin meeting skin, the gushing wetness of his length bullying it’s way inside her dripping pussy and the heavy office table scratching against the floor with his vicious thrusts. Her moans and pleas surfaced around it, mind fogged with so much lust as he continually plunged his long shaft against her sweet spot.
Harsh rhythm of his hips and her screams taking over, till he could feel the hot need for release on his lower stomach. He stopped then, earning a frustrated and questioning glare from his partner. But it didn’t last long, as she felt herself being manhandled into turning around to face him - marveling with how gorgeous he looked, sweat dripping along defined muscles, an intense expression with blown wide pupils. He looked as much wrecked as she felt. He pushed her back towards the table, grabbing both her legs against his chest, ankles locked around his shoulder as he slipped himself back inside her lower lips.
It was so much better this way, all his length now pushed inside, balls deep inside her pussy, and knowing she could watch who fucked her into oblivion. He resumed his hammering pace, grinning watching as she rolled her eyes back into her head, mind completely gone into pleasure and overstimulation. Knowing he was the one to do this, the only one. She could already feel herself closer to orgasm yet again, his name falling from her lips between incoherent pleas and moans. “Law, LaaAA- F-Fuck. Ple- Law, please please please-.”
“That’s fucking right. Say my name, baby. My girl, my pussy, fucking mine.” He growled as he didn’t stop his fast pace even after her orgasm crashed into her, a loud moan of his name and walls clenching around his cock, entire body shaking and grabbing for any part of him she could find. If only, his hands held more firmly against her thighs to keep her in place before he could feel himself reaching his own climax - incoherent string of ‘take it’ with one final and long thrust inside her folds before he made sure to fill it to the brim with his cum, fucking it back inside a few times to make sure not a single drop escaped.
Eliza was sure to be seeing stars, as he finally released her legs - crashing limp against the desk. Breathe coming in long drawls, as she tried to come back from such a high. Who could have thought that Kid’s stupid prank would cause such a strong chain of reactions? Not that she was complaining, arms already open as she realized her boyfriend was reaching to hug her body against his. She nuzzled his sideburns as he kissed her shoulders, quiet affection after such a rough session of love making.
Both breathed together for a moment, relaxing into each other's embrace, before she felt herself being carried into his arms for a few feet so they could both crash and cuddle in his soft office’s sofa, a common spot for moments like this. It was quiet for a moment, only heartbeats and breathing sounds between soft caresses and lazy kisses. Law was the first one to break silence, after a while. “I hope I didn’t hurt you.”
“No, don’t worry,” Kissing his scruffy chin in reassurance, she continued with a smirk, “My bum might be burning a bit, but it was very worth it.”
Snorting a laugh, he reached both hands to caress her ample backside, in a false soothing move - as he immediately squeezed both cheeks in his hands. “It’s your fault for being so appetizing.” He smirked back, playfully biting onto her neck, earning a squeal from his lover and smack on his arm.
It was clear that there’s one thing no one but him could ever have, besides her body; the absolute love and adoration shared between them. Life partners bundled together without knowing where one starts and the other finishes, playfully bantering and kissing till fatigue was able to take over their minds, to a land of dreams where they would be meeting once again.
