heyy! i have a request that is kinda similar to affection which btw is my all time fav eddie angsty fic! anyways feel free to drop it cause you’ve already kinda written it. eddie and reader have been dating and their relationship is still fairly new and one night when they’re hanging out with everyone the reader overhears eddie telling everyone she’s clingy. thank you so much bby for all the amazing works you’ve shared with us 🤍🤍
Thank you so much!
"affection" is one of my favorites as well
I think I can change it enough where it won't sound the same!
Tumblr media
Eddie wasn't huge on public displays of affection. In fact, he hated it. He hated someone constantly tugging on his arm. He didn't like to be hugged in front of a group. He refused to kiss in front of anyone. He only wanted affection in private.
Y/N never knew that. She thought showing each other off was adorable. She loved to be touched and to touch others. Her body physically couldn't handle being left alone. She needed reassurance of someone being there
So when she began to date Eddie, she didn't think twice about it. Easily sliding her hand into his as they walked through the hallways. Pecking his cheek before she ran off to class. She played with his hair when she sat behind him in class. Rubbing his leg with her foot during hellfire. She adored touching her boyfriend and she didn't think once that he didn't like it.
She always wanted to hangout with him. Her life at home was lonely and she didn't like to be left there. Always running over to Eddie's right after school and staying until she had to leave for bed. He never said a word, so how was she supposed to know?
Eddie tried very hard to never snap at her. They've been dating for two months and he was going insane. But the relationship was new, she was in the puppy love stage. Surely she'd get over that.
Then two months turned into four. And she was still clinging on to him. He knew she needed to feel a body against hers. Even before they dated she always hooked on to someone nearby. And now since he was her boyfriend, he was the default.
And maybe he was an ass for talking behind her back. A grade A asshole for telling his friends she was so damn clingy but he needed it off of his chest.
~~
"she's just so clingy and I feel like I can't breathe. She's at my house every day for hours. I haven't had a moment alone in months. She's holding my hand, cuddling me, and kissing me in front of everyone. I don't know, I just feel like that stuff is for us when we are alone"
She was behind the wall, getting back from the bathroom. Heart cracking and insecurity flooded her body as her boyfriend told their friends she was clingy.
She knew she was, she just didn't see it as a bad thing. She'd love it if someone wanted to cling on to her. It would make her feel loved and appreciated. She wasn't hurt by being called clingy. She was hurt that he never bothered to tell her for the last four months that she was suffocating him.
She quickly wiped her face and cleared her throat. It's fine, she'll just talk to him one on one when they left Steve's.
She smiled as she entered the room. Now she knew why the room got silent. Steve and Robin threw her pity looks but she shrugged it off. She sat next to Eddie, not on his lap like she was before. When he breathed a sigh of relief, her body stung. But she shrugged it off.
~~
When he parked in her driveway to drop her off she spoke up. She wasn't going to let this eat her alive for his benefit.
"why didn't you tell me I was too much for you?" She asked, turning her head to look at him.
He clenched his eyes and sighed.
"I didn't mean for you to hear that" he admitted.
"I know but I would have understood. I'm a big girl, I think I can handle giving you some space when you need it" she wasn't angry and she wasn't hurt anymore.
"I know, it was a dick move" he confessed
"let's work on it together. I'll try to hold back and the days I forget, just tell me when it's too much okay?"
He felt even worse. She smiled sweetly at him as he nodded. She pecked his cheek and skipped into her house.
She was sweet, a ball of sunshine and he felt like the damn rain cloud.
~~
It was weird at first for her. She wasn't sure what things made Eddie feel suffocated so she slowly learned.
When she walked in the halls next to Eddie and Robin, she went to lace her fingers with his. Slightly touching his fingertips. Feeling a small kick in the gut when his hand went into his pocket. Still ranting about a story on his mind. Robin watched as her cheeks flushed embarrassed and took her hand away. Robin didn't understand why Eddie hated the affection. It was his fucking girlfriend for god sakes.
But Robin was a good friend. Easily slipping her hand into Y/N's free one. Y/N smiled at the feeling, giving Robin a grateful look. Y/N giggled as Robin swung their connected hands forward and backwards. Robin smiled hearing her laugh.
Eddie noticed the girls next to him were no longer listening to his story. Watching his girlfriend giggle and smile brightly as Robin swung their arms around. He ignored the upset feeling in his stomach and continued to walk beside them. Easily becoming the third wheel.
~~
Movie night at Steve's was the next thing she had to learn.
She crawled right next to Eddie, as she always did. Throwing a blanket over them as she squeezed under his arm. Her arm wrapping around him and head resting on his shoulder. Feeling his body tense, she quickly apologized
"sorry eds" she said quietly, giving him a defeated look as she sat up straighter, pulling her body away from his. She knew she told him she'd work on it for him, but she didn't expect it to hurt so much.
He gave her a small smile and threw his arm over the couch. Sitting comfortably without a care in the world.
Steve's heart hurt watching as the girl cuddled into herself. Picking at her nails as she tried to keep her hands away from trailing to her boyfriend.
"Y/N, come here" Steve said, opening his arms with a smile on the other side of the couch. He knew she would not be able to rest without cuddling during a movie. And he wasn't going to let his friend be upset because her boyfriend was an asshole.
"okay!" She said excitedly. Yanking the blanket off of Eddie and scooting to the other side where Steve sat. Settling herself in his arms as he sat the blanket on them. Throwing his free arm on her shoulder as he pressed play to the movie.
Eddie glared at Steve's arms wrapped around his girlfriend. The spot next to him is now empty. Just because he didn't want to cuddle doesn't mean Steve should just be touching her all over. Jealousy settled in his veins. He couldn't remember one thing about the movie. Watching his girlfriend fall asleep on Steve's shoulder as she snuggled into him more and more.
~~
But when they were alone, he got her to himself. She realized Eddie only liked to be touched in the privacy of just them. Which was fine.
She kissed his face repeatedly as he laughed under her. Hands tickling her sides to get her off of him.
He smirked in victory when he landed on top of her. Kissing her slowly as she reached up to tangle her hands in his hair.
He didn't want to admit it, but he missed feeling her. They haven't spent a night alone in weeks. He hadn't kissed her this deeply in days. Hasn't felt her hands in his hair, her warmth transferring on to him.
She pulled away with a giggle. Kissing his nose as she moved from under him.
He watched as she put on her jacket.
Confused, he spoke out, "wait. Where are you going?" He sat up on his bed, hand reaching to grab hers
"it's almost 7 baby" she said it like he was supposed to understand what that meant
"and? You never leave that early"
"I know but I've been with you all day long. Now it's time for you to have your alone time, remember?" She said softly. Shaking her head and laughing quietly at her boyfriend's confused face.
She kissed his lips quick again as she walked out of bedroom
"see you in the morning!"
And the door slammed shut.
Eddie quickly realized he didn't want alone time tonight. He's been alone for fucking weeks it felt like.
~~
It was date night and Eddie was more excited than ever. He felt like his body was growing restless being away from her touch this long.
He sat next to her in the booth, one arm thrown over her shoulder and holding her hand as she reached up.
He kissed the side of her head as they waited for their food to arrive.
She was ranting about her day. Her free hand tracing shapes into his hand that rested on the table.
He hummed softly as he listened. His body felt like it was melting into hers. Her back against his chest. Her head is just below his chin. He forgot how nice it was to just hold her.
"Eddie! Y/N!" Robin announced as she dragged Steve over to the booth
"can we sit?"
Eddie went to say no but his sweet girlfriend already said yes.
He felt his body slump in the booth when she moved her body away. Unlacing their hands, scooting over to her side of the booth. No longer sharing one spot. She held her own hands as she greeted their friends.
Eddie hated how cold his body felt. But he asked for this. This was what he wanted. But now he was slowly learning he missed her clinginess. And he hates more than anything that he made her change who she was.
He watched her as she talked to their friends. Eddie kept moving his hand closer to her seat. Hoping that maybe she's been too caught him in talking and just hold it. Subconsciously touching him. But she did. She noticed his hand getting closer but figured she was the one moving. Quickly pulling herself further away. Sending him a small smile.
Eddie needed to fix this and do it fast
~~
Y/N and him were walking side by side towards their class. Ever since Eddie put his hand in his pocket that day, she kept hers tight on her books. But today she had none to carry. Eddie moved himself closer, ranting about hellfire. Bumping his shoulder into hers with a smile. She smiled back and was caught off guard when she felt his warm hand slip into hers. She felt him squeeze her hand a few times but kept his rant going. She smiled to herself and squeezed back.
~~
At the next movie night, she was heading to sit next to Steve when Eddie grabbed her by her waist. She squealed when he placed her on his lap, throwing a blanket over them. Tucking her head under his chin and wrapping his arms around her, tight.
She felt him kiss her head and told Steve to play the movie.
She smiled to herself and snuggled further into his arms.
Eddie smiled as she fell asleep, this time on him.
~~
When she came over to his house after school, he made sure she didn't feel the need to leave.
Moaning into her mouth as she sat on his lap. His tongue tasted her mouth as he held on to her hips.
She pulled away breathless, the excuse to leave on her tongue.
"don't go" he said first. Kissing down her neck.
"you don't want alone time?" She asked, pulling back to look at him fully
"I'm tired of alone time. I was wrong. I love you and I love when you cling to me. I love when you hold my hand, cuddle with me during movies, and when you stay all night long. I'm sorry for making you change. I should have changed. I miss you and I hate missing you when you are right here" he said quietly, still holding on her hips to make sure she didn't move. "alone time just reminds me how fucking good I had it before I fucked it up"
"Eddie, you didn't fuck up. It's okay to not like certain things. We are just opposite and that's fine" she smiled
"no baby no. The thing is the second you took it all away, I wanted it more than ever. I'm sorry and I'll keep saying it. You are perfect just the way you are. Please just stay a little longer"
She smiled down at him as he nudged his head into her chest. Inhaling her scent as he hugged her tighter
"okay Eddie, I'll stay"
Being in a new relationship was all about learning. Learning about the person you love but also learning about yourself. And Eddie learned he loved being touched, even in front of everyone.

hi! i know ur not from the us so pls feel free to ignore this but i think a kbd fic where steve and the girls are doing sparklers for the fourth of july would be so cute! absolutely adore everything u post 🫶🏻
thank u!! sorry i know it isn't the fourth anymore bit I hope u enjoy regardless!! kbd —dad!steve and mom!reader show their daughters how to use sparklers for the first time, 2k
Steve isn't a huge fan of fireworks because of how dangerous they can be, but sparklers are just fine in his book. He buys a box of thirty. The girls can do ten each if they feel like it, though he knows Dove won't be interested, and he guesses Bethie will be too scared to hold them.
Still, he hopes. You're hosting a banquet of food when he arrives, a mixture of things you made and stuff he prepared yesterday. It's a feast of hotdogs and burgers, cupcakes and donuts, macaroni and cheese and chilli with white rice. The table is crammed with plates and the radio is on, playing fun pop music a little too loudly for Dove's taste, her hands over her ears.
You turn down the radio, and ask her where she sits on your hip, "Is that better, sweetheart?"
"Hey," he says, putting the box of sparklers on the counter.
"Hey, Stevie," you say, in a rare tone. You always talk to him with love but he adores how you say his name now, like you've never been happier to see him in your entire life. "They had some?"
"Lucky, right? Guess I'm not the only schmuck who forgot to buy some."
Avery rushes for his legs, a chocolate donut in one hand and a cup of juice in the other. Despite her luggage, she expects to be picked up. Steve grabs her.
"You're cold, dad," she says.
"Really? It's not cold out," he says.
"You need something to warm you up."
Steve raises his eyebrows. "Sure I do. Give me a hug, but don't get icing in my hair, please."
Avery hugs him, sticky cheek pressing into his as her arms strain around him. He pats her back, meeting your eyes and returning your happy smile. Steve turns on the spot to see Bethie practically elbow deep in a bowl of chilli. She loves anything that comes with rice, and she eats it like someone's going to take it away from her, chilli staining her lips and cheeks, a grain of rice stuck to her chin.
"Did you get a photo of that?" he asks.
"Of course I did," you laugh, putting Dove down to brace yourself against the counter. You stretch your neck in a tight circle.
"Thank you. Beth, that looks so nice! Are you saving any for me?"
"No!" she says happily, smiling wide as an ocean.
"Good girl. Alright, you tell me when you're finished, I have something fun for after dinner."
Dinner gets put on pause. You wipe Bethie's face clean, giggling the whole time and telling her how cute she is in your saccharine mommy voice that melts her, "We should have that more often, huh?" It's always a good day when Bethie eats well.
Steve helps Avery put her shoes on and together they step out into the backyard. It's small considering the house is a four bedroom, but maybe that's why you'd been able to afford it in the first place. You work with what space you have. There's a light wood fence, the perimeter half lined by pansies and the other side with a slim shed full of their bikes and scooters and a small bed where the girls attempted to grow strawberries last year. They didn't take, but Steve has hope for this summer.
The yard is clean though slightly neglected, and Steve has to work spider duty before Avery will agree to step off of the doorjam. You follow soon, Dove at your shins, Bethie cautious as she steps out in her socks behind you.
"Where's your shoes?" Steve asks her.
"I told her she didn't have to wear them," you say. "She says they're pinching her toes."
Steve had Beth's feet measured specifically to avoid that. He assumes it isn't pinching so much as not wanting to wear them. He shrugs. "Okay. Stay on the stones then, Beth, I don't know what's in the grass. You might step on a snail."
"Ew," she says, sitting down in the doorway.
Steve lights a sparkler for no one first of all, wondering how each girl will react. He hands it to you as the sparks jump to life, white and bright in the shade of the garden, the shadow of their house. You wave it around gently, but when each of your daughters gasps in unhappy shock, you hold your hand under the sparkler and let a spark kiss your palm.
"They aren't dangerous," you promise. You wave it into a heart, a star, the letter A. "Does anyone wanna try?"
"Me!" Avery shouts, holding out her hand. The sparkler burns remarkably quickly down to the stem.
"Dad will give you a new one. Hey, baby?" you put the sparkler down on the glass patio table as it sputters out. "Don't you have those gardening gloves?"
Soon, Steve's outfitted each girl in a glove too big for their hand. He passes Avery a sparkler, and her bravery and subsequent joy prompts some jealousy in Bethie, fighting her fear to take one too. You crouch down to stand with her as she waves it around, her eyes like saucers as white sparks fly.
"It's so pretty!" you say.
Dove is interested, but not in holding one. Steve picks her up and lights a sparkler, raising it away from her curious hands to draw her name. Avery squeaks with happiness and proclaims it as magic. "Dad, I'm a fairy!"
"I can see! Try not to put it by your hair, okay?"
She squeals some more until it dies in her hand. "Can I have another one?"
"Ooh," you coo, watching with pride as Bethie draws a circle with hers, "my girl's brave today, I'm super proud of you. Isn't this fun?"
Steve lights another one for Avery and gives Dove a loving kiss, thrilled to see them all this happy. He's really surprised Bethie's enjoying herself, but he supposes it would be hard for her to have a bad time with your hands on her shoulders, your encouragement soft and shining as angora silk.
They must use up four or five each like that.
"Daddy," Dove says, imploring as she touches his face.
"What?" he asks, thinking of tacking 'my little princess' on the end but withholding. Lately every sentence he says has a pet name squeezed in the middle. He has a lot of love to give.
She looks at him. He pats her small back, wondering if she's going to bless him with a sentence or two. She's old enough now to be talking, but she's quiet like Bethie most of the time. Or, she's not talkative —Dove is far from quiet.
"Hotdog, please."
Steve laughs loudly. "You want me to make you a hotdog?"
"And ketchup."
"Yeah, I can make you a hotdog. You don't want to stay for another sparkler?" he asks.
"No."
He laughs again, pressing another kiss overtop the first one he'd laid on her chubby cheek. "Thank you for saying please, sweetheart. You're such a good girl."
"Can I have a hotdog, too?" Avery asks.
"Sure you can, whatever you want. Beth? Mom?"
You've sat down on the floor. You're probably cold, but your smile would never show it. "I think me and Bethie are going to have another helping of chilli and rice, aren't we?" you ask hopefully.
Bethie's sparkler fizzles out. "Can we do more sparklers again?"
"Yeah. Tell you what, let's go back inside for food and when everyone's full, we'll come outside and do some more before bed. Sound good?"
The girls head inside, and Steve makes some hotdogs on the stove. Dove falls asleep with a bun in her hand, Bethie with her cheeks painted in sauce. Avery doesn't tire so easily, and while the others sleep, you and Steve take her out to the back door to light another sparkler. You write your names, you draw clumsy constellations. Steve writes 'I love
Avery,' grinning as she sounds out each letter.
Avery relishes in the delight of having your unfettered attention. She stays up for hours after her sisters with you and Steve, long enough to watch stray fireworks shoot up into the sky over your backyard, her head on your shoulder, her hand in Steve's hand.
"This is the best day ever," she says.
Steve wants to cry. Genuinely. He meets your eyes over Avery's head, and you shuffle closer to her without speaking, enveloping her in a hug from either side.
"Every day is the best day ever with you around, Ave," Steve says.
"The best. Me and dad tried some fireworks, when you weren't born." Steve and Avery look at you with mirrored interest. He doesn't remember what story you're going to tell. "You would've been very small in me at the time," you say, looking up as a pink and white firework blossoms across the night sky like a peony. "Like a strawberry seed. We… didn't know you were coming. I knew. I knew, but I didn't know. I could feel you right here," —you point at your stomach— "but I had no idea what you were going to be."
"Hey, you're right," Steve says. He forgets you were pregnant before you knew it.
"But me and dad lived together already," you say. "We were always going to get married and have babies and stuff, but you came really quickly. You were excited."
Steve grins. Avery hangs on your every word.
"But anyway, me and dad lived together. Not here, but somewhere, and we didn't have a yard but there was a little patch of grass and we figured we'd buy some, but he burned a stripe of my arm hair off by accident with a long lighter, and the we didn't have a fence to nail the Catherine wheel down, and he accidentally dropped the firecracker box on the way home so it didn't work anymore, and the rockets wouldn't light."
"Oh, no," Avery says. "You didn't have any fireworks?"
"None. But we had a pack of sparklers. We did it just like we did with you. I wrote 'I love Stevie' in big letters, and your dad tried to hug me and jabbed me in the stomach with his burned up one."
"Your hoodie," Steve remembers finally. "Your white hoodie, I bought it for you the week before at the mall after you threw up in Dairy Queen. I remember."
"I had it for a week, and he got this huge ash smudge on it."
"But you wouldn't let me wash it with bleach."
You give Avery a kiss on the top of her head. "I wanted to remember how happy we were. I thought the smudge was a nice reminder. Turns out I got much more than a smudge."
"You got me," Avery decodes.
"We got you," you say. "You're a thousand different things, Avery. You're smart, and kind, and pretty, and you're also a really good reminder that your dad loves me."
"Do you need a reminder?" Steve asks, genuinely worried, and kind of in awe. How you can sit there and say something that romantic off the cuff is beyond him. He really might cry soon.
"No," you say smugly. "You tell me all the time."
Not enough, he decides. After this, he'll be sure to tell you more.
Steve falls in love with you for the thousandth time.
"What I'm trying to tell you, Ave, is that dad is right. Every day with you in it is a really good day. I love you so much," you start to fizzle, which is to say your voice gets tight. You won't cry, but Steve teeters. "I'm really, really happy you had the best day ever, 'cos you make every day the best for dad and your sisters and me."
"Really?" Avery asks softly.
"Really," Steve says, rubbing the space between her shoulders.
A rocket squeals into the air and fractures into a ring of spectral colours.
Avery climbs onto her feet, and, torn between who to hug, wraps an arm around both of your necks.
Steve wraps his arms around you both, squeezing your hip. He's gotten used to being loved, to feeling it, but tonight might be an all time high. Sparklers become a Harrington tradition that year.

“Thanks for calling Family Video. This is Steve. How can I help you?” Steve recited the same script probably three dozen times a day. You jokingly told him that he said it once at night in his sleep.
“Thanks for calling Family Video. This is Steve. How can I help you?” You mimicked him, twirling the phone cord with one hand.
Steve chuckled, “(Y/n). How are you, sweetheart?”
“Fine. I just wanted to call and see how my favorite Family Video employee was doing.”
“That’s so sweet.”
“Yeah, so can you give Robin the phone?” You teased with a smile.
That made Steve laugh. It was your favorite sound in the world. “Damn, (Y/n). You sure know how to break a man’s heart.”
“You know you’re my favorite.”
“Eh, I’m not sure if I believe you now. You might have to prove it to me.”
“Really? How do you want me to do that, Harrington?” You asked playing along.
“Well, I can definitely think of a couple of things. The main one being your mouth and my—“
“Gross! What did we say about inappropriate talk over the phone?” You heard Robin shout in the background.
You couldn’t help but laugh, “Looks like you’ll have to tell me another time.”
“We will definitely discuss it tonight when I see you. Pick you up at 8?”
“That works for me. I can’t wait to see you. Bye, Pretty Boy.”
Steve froze. Pretty Boy? You’d never called him that before. Normally you called him the other cute nicknames like baby, babe, or honey. Pretty Boy was a new one.
He definitely liked it. A lot.
“Steve? Are you still there?”
“Uh, yeah. I’m here. I’ll uh- I’ll see you tonight.” He hung up the phone before you could say anything else. He knew it was rude and that he’d be apologizing to you later.
Robin noticed the change in his mood, “What’s wrong with you?”
“(Y/n) just called me….”
“Yeah, I know that dingus. I just heard your pervy talk on the phone.”
Steve rolled his eyes and grabbed the stack of videos that needed his attention.
The rest of the day at work all Steve could think about was you calling him “Pretty Boy.” He would catch himself smiling out of the blue. It didn’t surprise him that even after all this time you still had a huge effect on his heart.
That night, you hurried to your front door when you heard the bell ring. It was exactly 8 pm. Steve was always on time.
You opened the door and before you could get a word out, Steve blurted, “You called me ‘Pretty Boy’ today.”
You laughed at him, “Well, hello to you too. Yes, I did call you that but if you didn’t like it or if it made you uncomfortable, I won’t do it anymore.”
Steve quickly shook his head, “No, no! I love it.”
“You do?”
Steve stepped inside and wrapped his arms around you. You felt it as he pressed kisses along your neck, up your jaw and towards your mouth. “I really do love it. I’ve been counting down the hours until I can hear you say it again.”
“Steve-“
He pulled back so that he could look at you, “Ah, that’s not it.”
You laughed, “Pretty Boy.”
Steve grinned as he hugged you again, “Say it again.”
“Pretty Boy.”
“Again.”
“Steve!”
“Wrong!”

AUGUST - PART 3
Tumblr media
August 3/3
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x Reader
Tumblr media
August, 21th
You walk slowly down the hallway, your eyes firmly locked on the ground and your moving feet. Maybe you’re dreaming, you certainly feel like it.
You try swallowing down the metaphorical knot tied around your throat, but the action only makes your chest ache and you can’t focus on anything but that, no matter how hard you try.
It was always going to end like this, you knew it. You always knew it.
“There she is!” Steve’s voice finally makes you look up, and his face is the first thing you see because he’s coming towards you with a big smile on his lips and open arms.
“Hey,” you manage to say right before he hugs you against his chest, and you hold onto him for a few long seconds before he pulls back.
“Were you sleeping? Sorry to wake you.” He’s smiling, and you know everyone else is gathered behind him, but you can’t look - not yet.
“You couldn’t find a razor in the Middle east?” You ask him, referring to his bushy beard and he laughs, before he wraps an arm around your shoulders and turns back around, dragging you along with him.
He tells you something about beards and everyone laughs, but you don’t listen to any of it as all the blood in your veins rushes to your ears the moment you see them together.
And you have no right, you know it. But to see Wanda’s arms wrapped around Natasha from behind, huge smiles planted on both of their faces, makes you feel as if they’ve shot you and they don’t regret it.
Logically, in this analogy, you know you’ve shot yourself but you can’t help but feel what you feel.
“Told you I’d have his back,” Natasha tells you as she disentagles herself from her wife’s arms, and walks towards you.
You don’t look up, firmly focusing on her face and her dark hair, since she’s dyed it somewhere along their mission. Steve promptly lets go of you to give her way, and you desperately wish that he hadn’t.
“Hey, kid.” She hugs you, her voice soft as she wraps her arms around you and despite feeling like she’s taking everything away from you, you hug her too. “God, you’re tense.”
She smiles, her hands rubbing up and down your arms and you feel like you’re going to be sick.
“Didn’t you tell me you were coming down with something?” Kate is suddenly by your side, throwing an arm around your shoulders and pulling you against her side, and away from Natasha. “I think it might be the flu.”
“Oh, I’ll make you something.” Natasha rubs your arm one last time, and you nod distractedly.
You’re out of it, it feels as if you’re dreaming and you can’t wake up, no matter how hard you try.
“Come on, killer. Let’s let Auntie Nattie here cook you a magic potion, huh?”
“She used to be likable. What happened to her?” Natasha complains and Clint laughs, as does Wanda.
“Clint happened to her,” she says and you finally look up. Her eyes meet yours for a split second, and the emotion unraveling in her hazel eyes almost chokes you up.
But Kate pulls you around and practically drags you out of the living room and down the hallway leading to the elevator.
You can still hear laughter while you wait for the elevator to arrive, and Kate hugs you a little tighter, which you appreciate.
The two of you ride the elevator in silence, walk towards your bedroom in silence and when you go straight to your bed, Kate sits beside you in silence.
August, 22th
You don’t remember falling asleep, but the moment you blink yourself awake you realize that you’ve been crying in your sleep.
Everything hurts. Your chest feels like it might be splitting open, and this pain is so real that you could swear that you’ve hurt your ribs or someone kicked the living hell out of you last night.
But the reality is that no one touched you, and the pain that’s slowly consuming you is that of your broken heart.
Kate is gone and it’s only a little after five, and you know you won’t be going back to sleep.
To think that only five hours ago you were happy, and now - God! You can’t feel like this, it’s not fair for you to feel like this. You have no right.
A soft knock on your door makes you look up and before you can think of getting up, Wanda walks inside and quickly shuts the door behind her.
She hesitates the moment the door clicks shut behind her, and she presses her back against it as she looks at you with a pained expression on her face.
“I’m so sorry,” she says after a beat, shaking her head and then she rushes to your bed—to you.
There’s a moment where you think that this might be a dream, but the way she gets under the covers, her cold hand reaching to cup your face and her lips pressing a hard kiss on your temple, tells you that this is real.
“I’m so sorry,” she says again, her lips kissing your cheeks and your lips repeatedly.
She hugs you close and you hug her too, and you finally let yourself cry and she’s there, cleaning your tears away as soon as they begin to fall and kissing you again and again.
You don’t know how long you cry for, but when you stop Wanda’s arms are still wrapped around you, her lips still pressing soft kisses on your temple. All pretenses are gone, she can’t deny knowing exactly what you feel for her anymore and you don’t know what it’ll happen.
You’re afraid to speak, knowing that once you do you’ll have to accept whatever comes out of her mouth in response.
“Let me grab a tissue,” she says, her voice barely above a whisper and she reaches to your nightstand to grab the box of tissues you keep there.
“Thanks.” You take a tissue and she sets the box behind you, before she takes the tissue from your hands.
“You’re so beautiful,” she says as she cleans your cheeks, and you know your chin is trembling when she delicately touches it with two of her fingers.
“I feel like a mess,” you tell her and she kisses you, her lips pressing against yours in a soft and familiar kiss that steals your breath away.
“None of that, you’re beautiful.” She kisses your nose, and although you don’t feel pretty you still try to smile through your pain.
“Was that our last kiss?” You ask her and she takes a deep breath, and lets the air out slowly. You watch her swallowing hard, her own chin trembling as her eyes turn glassy while she looks at you.
Your stomach tightens, like it always does when you know you’re about to be sucker punched, and Wanda kisses you again.
This is it, you think, as you return her kiss. This is your last kiss, and you don’t want it to be.
You kiss for long and excruciating seconds, it might even be a minute but it ends, and she pulls back slightly.
Her hands are still cold as they cup your face, and her eyes reflect pain the longer she looks at you. It almost seems like a storm is unraveling behind her eyes, and you desperately want to know what she’s thinking.
What does she see now when she looks at you?
“That was our last kiss,” she says and although you knew she’d confirm that, it still feels like a stray bullet is piercing through your chest.
“Okay.” Your voice breaks as you nod your head twice, and she takes in another shattering breath.
“We agreed,” she reminds you, her voice breaking as well and you almost gather the necessary courage to ask what you’ve been wanting to ask her for a few days now.
“You did listen to my warning.” You point out and a few tears escape her eyes, and as if she can’t help herself, she kisses you hard and you let her.
She kisses you demandingly, as if there’s a part of her that wants to devour you, take all that she can get from you with one last kiss and you let her.
The pressing of her body against yours makes you lay on your back, and she follows you in kind, her body sliding on top of you with the liberty that you’ve granted her.
But this kiss ends too, and when she pulls back you cradle her face in your hands one last time.
You don’t want it to end, you don’t want this to be the last time that you feel her breath against yours. You don’t want to have to miss the weight of her body on top of yours, and you don’t want to dream about the smell of her shampoo this close.
“Your order, you mean?” She asks you with a hint of humor, though her eyes keep you prisoner of the emotions swirling in them.
“I - Wanda, I - ”
The frightening realization that you almost spell those words out for her, has you both freezing on the spot.
She kisses you again, and you wrap your arms around her as she sneaks her hands under your shirt. You’ve never retorted to tears for any situation you’ve seen yourself involved in, and now crying is all you can think about.
“I’m so sorry,” she says the moment she pulls back, when you haven’t even opened your eyes again yet.
“You keep saying that,” you tell her and she kisses your cheeks, holds onto you and presses her forehead on your shoulder, as if she can’t stand the idea of leaving you.
“Ask me to stay,” she tells you, pulling back and looking into your eyes with a little bit of desperation.
“What?”
“Ask me,” she says, almost pleadingly and although you’re confused you still kiss her silly for a few hopeful seconds.
“August is not over yet,” you tell her, perhaps sounding way more desperate than she just did.
“August.” The word leaves her parted lips in a sigh, or maybe a prayer. “August isn’t over yet.”
You go about your day as normally as you can, and you might not feel happy with the way things seem to be about to unfold, but at least you’re not feeling completely destroyed. You think.
Natasha meets you in the meeting launch with a cup of a steaming drink, that she tells you to take to help you feel better. You only meet her stare with a sinking feeling in your stomach, while you try hard not to think about what you’re doing and what it means for her, or you.
There’s a debriefing, not that you’re paying the necessary attention to everything that’s being said.
You do gather a few points. Natasha apparently discovered some very dark and important state secrets that will secure the team’s freedom for good. She’ll no longer have to answer the Government's shady calls, nor do their dirty work ever again.
You only notice Rhodey’s presence when he claps his hands twice, before standing up and hugging her tightly. He’s so proud of her, and he’s not afraid of showing it.
“You did good,” he tells her in earnest and Natasha smiles, but not fully. She’s proud too, you can tell by the way she keeps trying to hold back her smile.
She’s happy that she’s done this, she’s happy because the White House will no longer call upon her with these less than ideal missions anymore.
“It was long overdue.” She shrugs, but everyone else takes turns in congratulating her.
You do your part, of course, as one of her oldests friends you hug her too and congratulate her sincerely. Natasha squishes you, she pats your arms and smiles widely at you, a real smile, a big one and your heart seems to break for a very different reason.
You know she holds a special place in her heart for you, you know she feels somehow responsible for you and you really do love her and appreciate her, which makes all of this immensely harder for you.
The realization that you don’t want to lose her friendship hits your full force. If there was anyone who deserved your unwavering loyalty, that someone was Natasha.
The thought flies out of your mind the moment Wanda’s lips are insistently kissing a path down your neck the second you two find yourselves alone though.
August, 23rd
Daisy is a ball of energy around Natasha, she’s eager to know what’s next for her and to be completely honest, so are you.
It’s clear that Natasha’s grown attached to Daisy, at least it’s clear to you, you’re not sure if it is for the rest of the team. She’s never been an S.O. before, and taking over Daisy’s training was a personal favor to Fury more than anything.
“Hey, rookie. Warm up, I’ll be right back.” Natasha calls out, and Daisy gives her a thumbs up without being able to suppress the grin on her face.
“You gotta show me those tapes,” Natasha tells you next and you nod, before the two of you begin to walk to your office.
She’s heard about the simulation you ran since the night she came back, and you know she’s about to give Daisy a small mission, maybe as soon as today or tomorrow.
“What do you think?” She asks you conversationally as you walk through the main reception area. You don’t need her to elaborate, and although you wish you could still see her in the eye, you pretend to check your phone as you answer.
You can’t look at her face, not without wanting to blurt it all out.
It should be easy, you tell yourself. It should be easy to keep this secret from her or anyone for that matter. You’re a trained spy, one of the best, and holding secrets is your specialty. It turns out that you’re still learning though.
“I think starting her off with a low risk mission is the next step to go. You know how it goes from there.”
Your voice carries out and the lull silence that follows it tells you that she notices how hard you’re trying, not that she knows exactly what you’re hiding, at least you hope she doesn’t know.
Which reminds you, you still haven’t talked to Kate and each time you're with Wanda, talking is the last thing you two do.
“You think she’s ready?” She asks as you walk inside your office and you open your laptop, her voice gives nothing away.
You remind yourself that she’s never been an S.O. before, and if she’s asking you this then she wants an honest answer.
You’re her friend. Before you knew anyone else in this team, in this country, before you even knew that Wanda existed, Natasha was your friend and the person who ultimately gave you a second chance.
You owe her.
The guilt settles in your stomach heavily, it feels as if your insides are getting tangled up inside you and it makes you slightly nauseous.
“You think she has what it takes?” She asks you, as you bring up the video of the simulation on your computer, and you finally turn to look at her fully.
“She’s special, Nat.” You nod, and a small proud grin appears on her lips. “She could very well one day lead this team. But you already knew that, didn’t you?”
“She’s got heart,” she says as you both sit in front of your desk.
“She’s got heart.” You agree, and you press play.
The video is just starting when your phone vibrates with a new text message, and the second you see Wanda’s name on your screen you almost panic.
Meet me in your car. Is all it says, and you’re on your feet before you can even think of an excuse to tell Nat.
“I’ll be right back,” is all you say before you rush out of your own office.
You make it to your car in record time and Wanda’s lips are on yours in an instant. You kiss her back, you hold onto her and when she pulls you onto her lap, you willingly straddle her.
“God, I’ve missed you.” She combs your hair back, a pretty smile on her lips as she smiles up at you.
Watching into her eyes, you can see nothing but sincerity. She’s happy to see you, her hands are touching every inch of you that she can reach and the guilt that was threatening to swallow you whole just a few minutes ago, is gone for now.
“Nat is taking Daisy on a mission tonight,” she tells you, confirming what you suspected . “Clint and Kate are going too.”
“It doesn’t sound like a small mission if they’re all going,” you tell her and she kisses your lips softly, her eyes still shining with mirth as she presses her lips against yours.
“They’re just retrieving a hard drive. It looks like Kate’s contact came through. But you know Nat, she won’t take any chances this early on with Daisy.”
You do know Nat, and in the blink of an eye the guilt returns. This is wrong, and you know it.
It’s wrong to be with her wife like this, to have been with her wife like this.
It’s wrong, and you care. You do care.
“You talked to Kate?” You finally ask her and she nods her head, her hand still on your hair while the other one squeezes your waist slightly under your shirt.
“She won’t say anything.” She assures you, her eyes shining with something else that you can’t fully read, as she stares up at you.
“How can you be sure? If she mentions anything to Clint - ”
“She won’t.” She cuts you off and the sound of her voice tips you off. What swirls in her eyes it’s something you haven’t seen before, sadness maybe.
“You’re okay?” You ask her, as you cup her face in your hands. She turns and kisses the palm of your hand, and then your wrist and the action makes your chest ache. You still think that she might lo - she might have feelings for you.
“I’m okay.” She says softly, her voice barely above a whisper. “I’m okay.” She repeats as she wraps her arms around your waist and hides her face in your neck, breathing you in.
You hug her too, pressing yourself closer and when minutes begin to pass by, you realize that you’re content. What more could you ever want? With her by your side, with her acting like this, you’d never need anything more.
And yet, now that every single thing seems to have fallen in place again, you know that you can’t have her, not for good.
God, you should have never agreed to this. You should have kept your distance. You should have respected Natasha the slightest bit.
“Can I come over tonight?” She asks, lifting her head with unsure eyes, as if you could ever say no to her and completely oblivious to the storm unraveling inside your head.
You should say no, even though you don’t want to, you should.
“Of course.” You nod, although you still feel like there’s something that she’s not telling you.
Maybe she’s going to break this up sooner than you thought she would. God knows you don’t have the strength to do it yourself, so she needs to.
August, 24th
It’s past midnight when Wanda slips inside your room quietly. She must think you’re asleep because you watch as she leans heavily against your closed door, her face the picture of anguish but she takes a deep breath, unwilling to cry.
Your stomach drops at the sight, and you feel a pang in your chest.
She’s gonna end this. She’s gonna tell you that she can’t see you anymore, and you’ll accept it because you know this has to end.
“Wan?” You call out, nervous and afraid despite everything.
She takes a moment to take one last deep breath, and then she walks over to your bed with a wide smile that you know is not genuine.
“Baby, I’m sorry.” She says as she takes off her long sweater, leaving her in only a tank and sleeping shorts. “I know it’s late.”
“It’s okay,” you tell her. She gets under the covers as you turn around to face her. That sadness you saw on her face in the parking lot is still there, now more prominent than before.
A part of you knows that she’s hiding something from you, and you’re not sure you want to find out what that is.
“I want to hold you,” she says and you feel something snap, you can’t take it anymore.
“Why do you sound like that?” You ask her and she frowns.
“Like what?”
“Like you already regret whatever you came here to do.”
She’s immobile for a moment, her eyes just taking you in as she ponders on her answer. When she finally moves, she presses herself close to you, to the point where your chests are touching and her hand is pressing on your hip.
“I don’t regret being here with you.” She speaks slowly and tenderly, as if the mere act of talking is hurting her.
If there’s a knot around her throat then you know the feeling well. But she’s fighting against the need to cry, and you can see that clearly too.
Maybe she’s feeling the same way you are, maybe guilt is also about to swallow her whole. You know what the right thing to do is here. You know.
“Then what is it?” You ask her.
“I want us,” she says and you stop breathing. “I want you, all the time. You’re in my mind all the time, and I want you.”
She might not be here to end this after all, and you don’t know how to react to what she’s saying.
“Wanda, I - ”
“Is this what you feel for me?” Her voice breaks, her hand pulling you impossibly closer to her own body. She knows the answer to that question. “I don’t regret you. It’s just - it pains me to have to wait to see you, to touch you, to kiss you.”
She presses her lips against yours harshly, as if desperate to kiss you and you wrap her in your arms in response, kissing her back.
She’s still the love of your life, you bitterly realize.
“I want you,” she fiercely tells you, the torment in her eyes no longer easy to hide as she looks at you. “I want us.”
“But I’m yours already.” You tell her easily, knowing well that you’ve never spoken truer words before.
You caress her cheeks with your thumbs, holding her close. She knew this from the beginning, you never hid the fact that you’re in love with her and although a part of you is elated to know that she does feel something for you, you’re also very much aware of how much she’s hurting because of the same reason.
She looks like she’s about to burst into tears, but she doesn’t cry and she doesn’t speak again either and when she reaches down between your legs, her hand slipping past your sleeping shorts and panties, you don’t stop her.
Gasping against her mouth, you hold onto her as she enters you with her fingers, fast and a little roughly, and you allow it because you can tell how much she needs this. She has a lot to think about but right now, she needs the distraction and you understand that.
When you cum, she doesn’t stop and your strangled cries seem to only fuel her need to feel you closer. She takes off her clothes in a rush before helping you out of yours, just as fast, just as desperate. She’s rough in a way that speaks loudly to you.
She’s not trying to mark you, or to claim you. No, she’s trying to find the answers to this predicament in your body, in your skin, in your scent and the way you gasp out her name each time that she makes you cum.
You want to touch her, but she pins your hands above your head the second you try it, a silent command in her eyes as she lowers herself between your legs one more time.
When you open your eyes, you realize that you must have passed out. Not that you can be blamed for it… you have no idea how many times you came and Wanda was - Wanda was insatiable.
“You okay?” She asks you, and with a start you notice that she’s hugging you from behind, and she probably hasn’t slept at all. The small clock on your nightstand points at five thirty, and a heavy weight settles on your chest all over again.
You feel guilty to be here, so guilty that you can’t be fully present even.
“Yeah, I’m okay.” You reach for her hand, resting comfortably on your belly, and intertwine your fingers through hers. Your bodies twisted in the bedsheets tell the story of a passionate and slightly wild night and you love it to an extent, but it also scares you.
You love everything about last night, about her words, about her actions. You want her too, you want everything with her and yet, you still know that this is wrong and you both need to put an end to it.
“Wanda, I - ”
“Please.” She presses her cheek against yours, cutting you off and moving fast, as if she knows exactly what you’re about to say. “Please, baby. Give me a little bit of time, please.”
Knowing that she doesn’t want to talk confuses you, no matter how hard you try to put yourself in her shoes. You want to understand, and you do to an extent but to you the answer is simple. You’d never doubt when it comes to her, you’d choose her in this lifetime and every other lifetime because she’s the only person you’ve ever loved like this.
But she’s not free to choose, choosing her right now will mean hurting someone who’s friendship you value. Choosing her will mean hurting her, and Natasha.
She was already in love when you started this, she was never yours, not completely.
The pain she must be feeling, the thought of it is enough to devastate you. You never wanted to hurt her in any way, you never wanted her to experience pain like that because you knew how agonizing it was.
“You meant it?” You still ask and she hugs you closer, pressing her front to your back with relatively more force than necessary, as if she were afraid to lose you.
“Baby,” she whispers, the pet name falling from her lips pleadingly. “I don’t know what to do.”
Her voice breaks and you panic, but when you try to turn around she doesn’t let you, keeping you where you are as she takes deep breaths.
“Please,” she begs again and your heart breaks for her. “Please.”
“You love me,” you speak, without being able to hold it back any longer. You didn’t want to say it out loud, afraid that she’d deny it but that’s no longer an option, is it? And she can’t expect you to say nothing when it’s obvious that this, what you two have together, has stopped being fun.
“Please.” She begs again, her voice sounding more broken and you think she’s crying now.
“Do you?” You ask her softly and she takes a deep breath, her body shaking against yours as she does.
Just when you start to believe that she won’t give you an answer, she pushes lightly on your shoulder for you to lay on your back, her hand still holding yours and her red, raw eyes now looking down at you as she hovers over you.
She’s been crying, and she’s in pain, which is the last thing you ever wanted. The last thing.
She’s beautiful, even when her hair is this much of a mess and her eyes looking swollen. She’s beautiful and you don’t want to lose her, ever…
...and maybe you already have.
“I do.” She speaks the words so softly, a whisper that seems to break her and sew her back together again. “I love you.” She’s frowning, her eyes firmly locking you in.
“Wanda.” She reaches out to wipe away your tears, tears that you didn’t even know were shedding.
She’s just told you everything you wanted to hear, and that only makes your resolve clearer.
“You’re so beautiful,” she says as her face twists in pain and without a second thought you wrap your arms around her, just as she begins to cry.
Hiding her face in your neck, she cries for nearly fifteen minutes without stopping and clinging so hard to you that you almost feel suffocated by the intensity of it all.
She loves you, and you know what to do.
August, 25th
She’s gone when you wake up.
You tried to stay up when she stopped crying, but you were so tired and your mind was quiet, knowing well what you’ll have to do to make things right.
The heavy weight of your actions and their consequences seem to settle in the pit of your stomach, and you know the uncomfortable feeling of it won’t leave you alone anytime soon.
So much for your analogy of don’t dwell on things that already happened, and that you can’t control. This guilt is eating you alive and you can’t get past it.
This love-this all consuming love you feel for Wanda is unprecedented, but it’s making you see things as you’ve never seen them before. After what you’ve heard about love, as one does more often than not, you expected it to somehow blind you, to make you lose control of yourself.
In a way you guess it did that, but it also has you thinking that as infinite as love truly feels like, it’s also very limited.
There’s so much you’d do for Wanda, to keep her with you and to make her happy, to make her want you. You can’t imagine yourself saying no to any of her requests, but there are things that you’re not willing to do, there are things that you’re not willing to change about yourself and that’s something that you’ve just discovered as well.
You won’t be this person, you won’t stay and be the one who broke off a marriage, who caused so much pain. You can’t.
The minutes seem to drag on and the day becomes the longest of your life. You don’t look for Wanda, and she doesn’t look for you either.
August, 26th
The team arrives early in the morning, all smiles and proud grins in all of their faces. Daisy’s a natural, but you knew that already.
It is with a pang of melancholy that you congratulate her and welcome her on the team. You can’t think of a better person to fill in your absence. She’ll keep Tony on his toes, and Natasha will still have someone to look after in this place. You know she needs it to ground herself.
“Everything okay?” Steve asks you, effectively preventing you from looking over at Wanda when she joins everyone in the hanger.
“I think the sun is setting, Stevie.”
He sighs heavily, a protest dies in his tongue and his shoulders tense at the same time. He’s still the most expressive guy, even after all your effort in trying to make a spy out of him.
A very long time ago, when you were still apprehensive of this team and this place, he made you promise that you wouldn’t run, not that you were planning on it but he needed you to commit to the Avengers fully, and he needed to hear you say it.
So you did, you promised and he promised to understand when your time was up in return.
“You sure?” He asks you and when you kiss his cheek in response, he smiles sadly while nodding his head. “Of course you are.”
She finds you in the locker room, and she’s not happy to have been ignored for the last few hours. You turned off your phone for a reason, and a reason alone.
“I tell you I love you, and that’s code for you to ignore all my texts?” She asks, and your stomach drops.
You want, and you want.
You just came to pick up your clothes, but the moment you look at her, a tidal wave of emotion washes over you completely.
“I love you too, you know?” You tell her softly, somehow feeling defeated and that is not how it should have gone. The first time you exchanged these words should have been in a completely different setting, under very different circumstances. “But you already knew that.”
“You don’t think that’s a good thing? Us, loving each other?” Tears are quick to gather in her eyes as she asks you this question, and despite wanting nothing more than to give her the answer she’s looking for, that weight in the pit of your stomach reminds you of what’s right.
“It could have been.” You nod, trying hard to swallow the knot around your throat. “It could have been the best thing.”
“I-I don’t know-” she sighs, the tears gathered in her eyes roll down her cheeks and you want to take away all that pain from her. You never wanted this, you never wanted to see her hurting.
“You don’t know what to do.” You finish for her, and she takes in a deep breath, trying to collect herself.
You always knew, and she told you from the very beginning that she plans to stay married, but that doesn’t change how it affects you. She’s already chosen, that’s why it hurts like it does.
“I know I love you,” she says, her voice sounding much more confident that she looks and you smile, however small.
Yes, you think to yourself, you did want her to love you. But ultimately August was never meant to turn into this, naively you believed you’d make memories that could carry you through the rest of your life. You wanted to know, you wanted to feel, you wanted to experience her but you never wanted to hurt her.
“I love you too,” you tell her as you close the distance and finally reach out to touch her. She’s tense, the hands resting on her hips are slightly shaking, she’s scared.
“I love you so, so much.” You take her hands and pull until she gives in and lets you hug her, and she hugs you back.
“What am I gonna do?” She asks after a beat and you close your eyes, willing your brain to remember what it feels like to be in her arms.
You always knew. You always knew you’d be the one who’d end up losing. You knew.
“I love you, Wanda.” You tell her and she pulls back, a frown on her face as she stares at you. It must be something in the sound of your voice that tips her off.
“I don’t want to lose you,” she fiercely tells you.
“I don’t want to lose you either.” You cup her face, and you notice how hard she's gripping your shirt, she’s still trembling. “But I’m not gonna stay here just to be your mistress.”
Her eyes show nothing but uncertainty now, her grip on your shirt somehow tightens and you know what she’s gonna say even before she does.
“Stay here?” She asks, suspicion lacing her tone and the frown on her face now more prominent, her accent thicker. “You’re not leaving.”
“Is that an order?” You ask her with humor, despite being uncalled for and her frown somehow deepens.
“You’re not leaving.” She shakes her head, her voice stronger and you smile, although the heartbreak you feel might be making it seem more like a grimace.
“This was never supposed to turn out this way,” you tell her and she shakes her head. “You weren’t allowed to fall in love with me, remember?”
“You can’t leave. You can’t. You can’t leave me.” Tears are still rolling down her face, now faster than before.
“You’re hurting, and that was never part of our deal. August was never supposed to make you feel this way.”
“August,” she whispers the word as if it was cursed. You’re starting to see it that way too, so you wouldn’t exactly fault her for it.
“August.”
It doesn’t surprise you when she kisses you, no matter how demanding and desperate the kiss feels. You’d do anything, you think, to stay here with her and forget about the world outside of these four walls.
“You can’t leave,” she tells you, the moment she pulls back, and there’s something different in the way she says it this time around.
“You’re gonna stop me?” You challenge her, but as soon as that wave of bravado comes, it’s gone and you deflate almost instantly.
If you’d been more careful you would have caught the look on her face as she pondered your words, but the moment passes quickly and you take a step back from her embrace, and you try to center yourself again.
“I’m not gonna be this person, Wanda. I’m not gonna be the person that ruins someone’s marriage, I’m not-”
“You’re not ruining anything.” She cuts you off. “I’m not getting a divorce, I’m not-”
“Exactly.” You interrupt her too, her words, like daggers to your heart, give you the necessary push. “There’s a bigger picture here, Wanda. You told me that this is more than just a team, and I get it.”
“We’re not talking about the team right now.”
“We are, whatever happens here-”
“Nothing has to happen. Nothing has to change.” She tries to cut you off again.
“I’m not gonna be your dirty little secret forever!” Your voice echoes in the otherwise empty locker room, and she looks away, at a loss of words.
You have no right, you always knew. You always knew what this was. God!
“I know you’re not getting a divorce, I don’t want you to.”
“You’re not a dirty secret,” she tells you and when she takes your hands, you seem to breathe a little easier. Her hands are cold, which is a reminder that even though everything changes, also everything stays the same.
“Tony knows,” you blurt out as an afterthought, which is absurd because you should have told her a lot sooner.
“He does?” Wanda asks, worry suddenly swimming in her eyes, clear for you to see.
“Yes, I don’t know why I didn’t tell you sooner. I should have.”
“I’ll talk to him.” She assures you, her hands squeezing yours lightly.
Looking into her eyes you can almost breathe in her anxiousness, her slight panic, her confusion and above all, her pain. But there’s something more there too, a quiet and dangerous determination that you’ve seen before, but you don’t know what to make of it.
“What are you thinking?” She asks you softly, her hand reaching out to cup your face, as if things were still the same.
“I’m leaving, Wanda.” You tell her, and she shakes her head.
“No, you can’t just leave.”
“I can, and I will.”
“No, you can’t.” The red mist of her powers swirls in her eyes threateningly, and you flinch back instinctively. Despite having been as close as you’ve been to her for the past month, you’ve never seen her powers this up close, not like this.
“I’m sorry.” She apologizes quickly, her hands holding you close.
“It’s-it’s okay.”
Your heart is beating fast, even after she jumps back when the door bursts open and Steve walks inside, Bucky following close behind.
“Hey, Wanda.” Steve smiles as Bucky takes off his shirt, and you try to get your heart rate back to normal. “Natasha’s looking for you.”
“Thanks. I’ll go find her.” Wanda answers absentmindedly, her eyes still trained on you. “Don’t do anything until we talk. Please?”
You can see her trying to keep her tone casual, although the look in her eyes betrays her. The way she spoke about Kate not saying anything suddenly strikes you differently. You know what she’s capable of, the possibility that she actually made Kate forget she ever saw anything is there.
“Okay.” You agree quickly, and although she takes a moment to leave, she still does.
The rest of the day goes by in a blur of uncertainty for you, but however curious you grow about what you think might be happening, you refuse to call or try to contact Wanda.
She doesn’t contact you either.
August, 27th
You wake up to the sound of the alarms blazing, and red lights flashing around your bedroom. Friday is repeating a warning message, and you slide off your bed with the utmost care, picking up the gun you keep under your mattress on your way.
Pressing your back against the side of your bed, you try to make contact through your phone but the signal is down and there’s no wifi connection. Friday is still repeating the same message, over and over again, which means that whoever is doing this knows what they’re doing a little bit too well.
You’re about to make for your door when it opens from the outside with a hard shove.
“It’s me!” Wanda shouts when you raise your gun, your finger about to pull the trigger and you let out a hard sigh.
“What is going on?” You ask her, standing up and walking quickly towards your closet. “I almost shot you.”
“Friday is down, Tony is freaking out and we can’t reach Fury, or anyone outside of this place for that matter.”
You dress quickly, changing into one of your tactical uniforms that you keep in your room for emergencies, and load yourself with a few rounds of bullets and two more guns.
“There’s no wifi connection,” you tell her as you pick up your hair and then secure two hand knives onto your boots.
“I know, come on.” She says, and before you can make for the door she grabs your hand, and you finally take a long and hard look at her.
She’s still wearing the same clothes she was wearing before, when you were talking in the gym, and her eyes look red and a little swollen. She looks disheveled, as if she hasn’t slept in days and you’re only barely noticing.
“Where’s everyone else?” You ask her, as you take in her appearance, but she doesn’t answer, instead she pulls you closer until her lips are crushing against yours and you have no other option but to kiss her back.
Frowning, you kiss her quietly and wantonly, even under the circumstances you’re under, you can still feel yourself weaken under her spell.
You don’t want this to be over, you don’t want to have to miss her, you don’t want to have to dream about kissing her and miss the way her lips once felt against yours.
But you know what the right thing to do is.
You have to leave, and you have to do it soon.
Her hand is gripping your hair and her lips bruisingly pressing against yours, when the earpiece you’re wearing crackles to life and Tony’s voice comes through.
“I have control again. Is everyone alright?” He asks, and you pull back.
Cupping her face, you quickly wipe away a tear that’s slowly making its way down her pale cheek.
“You’re not leaving,” she tells you and you feel your heart breaking.
“I have to.” You argue, and her chin trembles as tears begin to roll down her face faster.
“You don’t.” She shakes her head, her hand still gripping your hair and keeping you close.
You hear a shot being fired, and Tony’s loud voice comes through. You have to move, but somehow you find yourself rooted to the spot.
“Wanda.” You sigh and she shakes her head again, refusing to see your point.
“You’re not leaving,” she says and you see her eyes shining red, and a wave of panic hits you unexpectedly.
“Tony?” You ask her and she grabs your waist with her free hand, pulling herself that much closer to you, until she’s pressing her forehead against yours, her other hand still buried in your hair.
“He won’t say anything,” she assures you with morbid confidence.
“What did you do?” You finally ask her, fear lacing your tone, fear that’s quick to spread to every inch of your body.
“August was supposed to be ours,” she says and you grip her wrists as you try to look into her eyes.
“It is. It has been.” Your words don’t seem to register to her, and she lets out a sob that breaks you completely.
“August was supposed to be ours.” She repeats, as if she didn’t hear you in the first place.
“Wanda, what did you do?” Your voice breaks, and she finally looks at you.
There’s an explosion somewhere close, you can hear the team’s voices in your ear shouting, fighting and grunting in pain. Everyone else is battling an enemy somewhere close and you can’t look away from Wanda’s crazed look in her eyes.
“You’re not leaving,” she says again. “I’d rather you stay-”
“Wanda.” You plead, not knowing what’s happening completely.
“-even if you don’t remember us.”
“Wanda, no.” You try to pull back from her hold, but her grip is iron tight.
“I’ll remember for us both.” She assures you, as you become terrified. “I’ll remember for us both.”
She cries, her eyes glow red and she kisses you one last time, however short and bitter.
August, 28th
August, 29th
You wake up in a Hospital room, alone and confused.
Your head hurts, and your throat is sandpaper dry.
You have no idea how or why you’re in this bed.
“Hey, you’re finally awake.” Natasha enters your room, and when you try to speak and fail, she rushes to pour some water in a cup for you.
She helps you sit up a little bit, and holds the cup to your lips for you to drink.
“There you go.” She puts the cup aside as you lay down again.
“What-what happened?” You ask her, and she sits on the edge of your bed before taking your hand in hers.
“The Compound was attacked. We found you unconscious in your room. You were probably standing too close to one of the bombs that went off.”
You have no recollection of a fight, and the more you try to remember what happened, your headache gets worse. Natasha’s forehead is patched up, and she’s sporting a nasty large bruise on her collarbone and neck, all signs of a battle that you have no recollection of.
“The team?” You ask her, worrisome creeping up on you and she squeezes your hand lightly.
“Clint was shot, and Tony took a hit. He’s being watched, Bruce says he’ll be alright.”
“Bruce is here?” You ask her, as you struggle to swallow, which she immediately notices.
“Here,” she says as she gives you more water to drink. You thank her, and she takes your hand in hers one more time. “You feeling alright?”
“Confused more than anything.” You admit, a frown taking over your expression. “I can’t remember the attack, or what was happening before.”
“It was the middle of the night,” she tells you calmly. “You were probably asleep, we all were. Wanda left to find you, but she never made it to your bedroom.”
Wanda. You think you’d remember if she was ever in your room.
“I must have hit my head pretty hard, huh?” Natasha smiles, however sadly and you realize that she must have been worried. She’s always felt somewhat responsible for you, ever since you joined the team.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” she says. “You had us worried for a bit there.”
You’re about to say something when Wanda walks inside the room, and if you believed in cliches, you’d think that she just stole your breath away. As it is though, you look away, barely catching her eyes in greeting.
She’s dangerous to look at, you’ve learnt.
“You’re feeling okay?” She asks, and the anxiousness in her tone catches you by surprise. “Is she okay?”
“She’s fine,” Natasha says. “Just a bit confused, as was to be expected.”
Wanda rushes, or you think that she does, to the side of your bed, her eyes glancing at every inch of your face. Which confuses you even more, the way she’s behaving, since you two have never been that close and you actively try to avoid spending too much time around her--for reasons.
“You’re okay?” She asks you, her hand reaching out as if to touch your face, but she pulls back at the last second.
“Yeah.” You try to nod, and her eyes frantically search for something in your face. “Are you?”
“I’m fine,” she says quickly, too quickly for it to be genuine. “I’m fine.”
You learn about a new terrorist group, hellbent on eliminating the Avengers and every other heroic initiative around the globe, claiming freedom, true freedom, whatever that means.
Natasha has to tell you about a mission she and Steve apparently left on for most of August, not that you can recall it.
The Doctors, and Bruce have to go over several tests with you. They do an MRI and they keep you in observation, trying to figure out how you might have forgotten an entire month, but none of them can explain it.
Wanda stays when Natasha is needed in the Compound, and she keeps a close eye on you, nervously pacing each room you’re taken to and paying close attention to each interaction you have.
“It’s a bit weird, isn’t it?” Kate asks you conversationally when she comes by to visit. Her left hand is patched up, after apparently she stopped someone from stabbing her with her bare hands.
“August is just a month.” You shrug, not wanting to make a big deal out of it. You hit your head and you forgot a few weeks of your life, but overall, you’re okay and you can always make new memories.
“August was important,” Wanda says from the couch where she’s been sitting inside your room. Her voice trembles, and you catch it with yet another wave of confusion washing over you. “August meant something.”
“There’s nothing I can do now though,” you tell her and just when you catch her eyes, she looks away in a rush.
You try not to look at her for long, you make a point of not being close to her, or try to understand what exactly each tone of her voice means. This crush you harbor for Natasha’s wife is dangerous, and you know it.
“I guess not,” she says, her voice uncarestalistaclly soft. It almost sounds as if she’s one step away from falling into the abyss, and you don’t understand why.
“You okay?” You ask her again, and she swallows with obvious difficulty before she nods her head.
“I’m fine,” she says one more time. “They attacked our home, and it just-it scared me, that's all.”
August, 30th
The hardest part about being the only one who remembers something, is the constant need to talk about it and knowing that she can’t.
Wanda drives you back home with a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach. She drives your car, the same car you used countless times to drive her away and kiss her silly.
You sit in the passenger seat, looking outside the window and avoiding looking at her, all things you used to do before August tenth.
She continuously tries to swallow down the knot around her throat, but she’s aware that the damn knot is there to stay. No matter what she does now, she can never take back what she’s done. She can never undo what she did.
“You feeling better?” She asks you, and you nod your head. She knows nothing is wrong with you, physically at least, but she can’t help but ask.
“Yeah. I’m okay. Kinda curious about August, but no more than that.” You admit, and she clears her throat subtly, if only to keep her tears at bay.
It seems like your logic about not being able to change the past is back in full force too.
“You spent most of the time with Daisy,” she tells you and that spikes your interest, you turn to look at her fully, while she continues to drive.
“That’s Natasha’s rookie, right?”
“Nat asked you to keep an eye on her while she was away.”
“Did I torture her? Did I make her want to drop the towel? I’m not sure if I’m a good teacher to be honest.”
She smiles, appreciating your usual sense of humor, while a wave of nostalgia curses through her entire body. She misses you.
She misses you so devastatingly hard, and you don’t know because she made sure that you don’t.
Wanting to scream, she grips the wheel with both hands and grits her teeth instead.
“You’re a good teacher,” she says, her voice breaking as she speaks and she sees you catching it, but you’ve gone back to being the person you were before august.
“Why, thank you.” You grin, but you also look away. You look away because you were always respectful, you always kept your distance and you would have never crossed any line if she hadn’t asked you to.
August 31st
She doesn’t sleep, she can’t, and Natasha notices.
“I’m fine. Everything’s fine.” She says again and again, when Natasha gives her that look that means she knows something, but won’t say anything until Wanda is ready to talk.
Wanda might never be ready to admit to another living soul of what she’s done in August.
She tracks you down without even noticing. She makes a point of starting lunch when you’re in the kitchen, just so she can see you for a couple of minutes. Because that’s all she gets now, just a couple of minutes that aren’t really hers to have.
She doesn’t eat, she's not hungry.
“I’m okay. I’ll have something later.” She tells her wife when Natasha notices.
Natasha doesn’t push, she’s not that kind of person.
Wanda tracks you down to the gym, where you’re sitting on the mats, trading jokes with Daisy and Kate, and a new wave of guilt threatens to break her.
Flicking Clint’s memory wasn’t that hard, she barely wished for it and the next moment all the suspicion he was harvouring for you vanished. Making Kate forget was a little harder, however young, Kate’s always been the one with the strongest will among the lot of you.
You never knew, although she’s certain that you were close to figuring it out.
She never wanted August to end like this, but the thought of you leaving for good made her panic. She’d rather carry the story of you in her mind, all by herself, than never see you again.
You won’t remember, but she will for the both of you.
After all, August was always meant to be hers and hers alone.

No pressure blurb request for Eddie: "Please don’t touch me. I can’t fall any deeper."
(Actual line not required but I like the feeling)
absolutely bestie! thank you <3
Tumblr media
he's been having dreams about her for months now. they started out as nothing serious, little appearances and funny moments that made no sense mostly... and then his brain decided to conjure up a whole life with her inside his dreams. a life where she held him in her arms and kisses his forehead, she made him laugh and smile and she married him. she wore a ring with his initials engraved in the band, she wore a beautiful white dress and her hair looked perfect and she kissed him at the end of the aisle...
that dream took a while to recover from. then he had a dream that she had his kids. he had dreams about holding their babies, ones who looked so much like her and had his attitude. he snuggled them close, and they cuddled all together in a big comfy bed with the sun shining through the windows and the birds chirping and it was perfect. then he woke up. it always broke his heart to wake up... to reach out for her and only find his pillow because she wasn't really his.
she's just a friend.
he has to get that through his thick skull before he accidentally wraps himself around her and kisses her on the cheek, or the back of her neck or her shoulder... it would be so easy, too. she's always so close, it just feels right to want to reach out and give her some love but he can't... until she makes it almost impossible.
a group camping trip was supposed to be a fun way to have a vacation together. they'd all take a vehicle, they'd bring tents and supplies and smores and they'd spend a weekend at a lake 3 hours away from Hawkins where they could just be normal. it was a great idea until they had to separate for the night. Steve and Robin take a tent, Nancy and Jonathan head into the back of her station wagon, the kids are in a huge 10-person tent that ted wheeler bought, overjoyed to know they'd be leaving his house for a weekend.... leaving Y/N with Eddie.
the back of his van is stuffed full of blankets and pillows, he wanted to be comfortable in the night and he didn't even account for someone sleeping with him... it was BYOT. bring your own tent, he brought a van, and he expected Y/N to partner with someone like Robin or Max and El. Not him. but he can't say no to her when she asks ever so sweetly, "can i sleep in the van with you?"
so now he's here, laying completely flat on his back, blanket tucked under his chin as he stares at the ceiling. there's enough room between them for a third person, he's so close to the wall of the van it's like he's afraid she's going to bite him or give him cooties or something. he's so scared of her. and she can feel it too.
"Eddie?" she moves closer and he tenses.
"what?"
"it's cold, don't you want to cuddle?" she pouts, bringing out the puppy dog eyes.
he shakes his head and keeps looking at the ceiling, he can't give in. not when it means something completely different to him. "please don't touch me... I can't fall any deeper."
it takes her a moment to realize she did hear that right. "Eddie... baby?"
"Don't," he pleads, begging with his eyes. "you can't lead me on, I'm so gone for you already I won't recover from a night of cuddling with you."
"so don't," she shrugs. "fall completely sickly in love with me and let me take care of it. let me shower you in care and kisses and comfort and praise. let me love you."
the anxiety of loving her in secret for so long all comes out in one simple, wobbly-lipped, "please?"
she pulls him into a hug and cradles his head and kisses his cheek gently, "I thought you'd never ask... I've wanted to tell you for so long, Eddie."
he laughs then, pulling back so he can look at her, "since when? if I knew you liked me back I would've done something about my crush ages ago?"
"I thought being subtle would help... little touches and sweet compliments and making you things I know you'd like, those were all my attempts at showing you I care," she explains. "but if you want me to come on stronger I can tell you I've been dreaming about loving you for ages."
"I've been dreaming about your love just as long," he admits.
"you don't have to dream anymore," she looks at his lips and then his eyes and back down to his lips again.
he can read her a lot better now that he knows it's mutual, so he lays her back against the makeshift mattress and hovers over her. she reaches up to brush his hair back behind his ear, leaving her hand on his cheek, "are you gonna kiss me?"
"can I?"
she nods, "please?"
he leans in slowly, watching her the whole way until their lips meet and both of their eyes close. she hums with contentment, relaxing under him as he breathes her in, pushing into her slightly before he pulls back, barely. their noses touch, he smiles at her and she steals another kiss, and then a third before she starts to giggle.
she brings up her other hand to hold both his cheeks, "i love you..."
"I love you," he says, shocked and in complete disbelief that this is real and happening and not another dream he'd regret in the morning. "I love you so much."
she pulls him in for another kiss and another one after that. he had a feeling she was going to kiss him until the sun came up and he was okay with that. more than okay with it. he wanted to live here forever, right in this feeling of newness and tenderness and excitement. it's everything. she's everything he dreamed of.
maybe he can actually see the future... he was always meant to be here.

⛤Chapter 2: Pulling Strings You walk into work early and meet up with your manager. You explain that you need a week off to visit family in Hawkins. They calculate your vacation time and approve it, it's official! In two weeks you're going back to your childhood hometown. You asked a couple of coworkers to help cover your shift and got lucky, they both agreed they could use the extra hours. It was the longest two weeks that you've ever experienced. You passed the time with some shopping for your trip. You made sure to get all the essentials, and a couple of new cute outfits to bring too. You visited your mom and told her all about your plans, she's excited for you! She even sent you off with a little extra money, just in case.
Everything appears to be falling into place. The anticipation is killing you. But you start to find yourself thinking about Eddie quite often. You thought about his dark brown eyes, and how shockingly cute he was when he smiled. Back when things got difficult with your family, Eddie was always down for some late-night talks, listening to you vent for hours sometimes.
The night before you left, you spent time packing, calling Steve, and confirming some minor details. You took a shower before bed and watched some late night TV. When you finally decide to turn in, you crawl under the comforter and try your best to get some rest. Even if you still feel a huge pit in your stomach.
—--------------
You're beginning to think you should have packed lighter as you hauled your bags down to the car. You load everything into the trunk and settle into the driver's seat. You take a deep breath and start the car, the engine roars and you hit the gas. There's no next time, it's now or never. Time to take a leap of faith and do your best to be a better friend. You might not get another chance. The sun shines through your windshield as you turn the bend, the fresh Indiana air is crisp and clean. As you see the “Welcome to Hawkins” sign, your body starts to tense up. You try to recall the directions Steve gave you in the correct order. You turned onto main street and kept on until you saw the blue apartments named “Hawkin’s Heights”. You pulled into the parking lot and backed into a parking space carefully and cut the engine.
It took you what felt like forever to get out of the car. But after a few deep breaths and some time to mentally hype yourself up, you are ready. You walk upstairs and follow the numbers until you find apartment 106. You knock on the door and it instantly opens.
“Y/N! I’m so glad you made it!” Steve looks completely thrilled to see you. He scoops you up into a hug and pulls you inside the apartment, shutting the door behind you.
“Hi Stevie” You laughed “It’s so nice to see you!” Steve finally lets go and you recognize the other familiar face in the room. It was none other than Dustin Henderson.
“Oh my god, Dustin?! You’re like…all grown up!” You can't believe how mature he looks now. You give him a massive hug, he's taller than you now. Time sure does fly, kids sure do grow up fast. The boys head downstairs to help you lug your bags inside, thank goodness you didn't have to do that alone.
Once you get inside you notice the boys are taking your stuff down the hall, and you follow them. Once you walk through the threshold you immediately know whose room this is.
“You’ll be staying in Eddie's room. He comes back from tour in two days so you’ll see him then. I’m sure he won’t mind at all.” Steve explains so casually like it's no big deal.
“Oh god, I couldn’t just take his room. I would feel so bad. What if I take the couch?” You ask with a nervous laugh.
“Can’t, Dustin is on the couch. His mom went on this singles cruise. Even now I’m still somehow babysitting.” Steve laughs and Dustin scoffs at him. Your face turns a little red at the thought of sleeping in your high school crush’s bed.
“Don't listen to him, Y/N, my mom is just paranoid.” Dustin retorts as he follows Steve to the kitchen.
They both leave you to order some pizza and give you time to settle in. The room is truthfully very clean, there are Metal posters all over the walls, along with flyers from shows he’s played. He has some Christmas lights hanging for some ambiance. You take a seat on his queen-sized bed, it feels really comfy. The back comforter and black pillow cases were so him. There are guitars hanging on the wall, a couple of guitar stands, and amps off to the side.
I guess it can't be helped. You'll have to deal with it for now, maybe you can crash at Robin’s later. You shut the door and find yourself some lounge clothes to wear, settling on a pair of shorts and a large Metallica t-shirt. After brushing out your hair and setting out some clothes for tomorrow, you decide to join the boys in the kitchen.
“We got two large pepperoni pizzas,” Dustin announces, Steve opens two beers and offers you one. You gladly take it and grin as you see the label.
“Did you buy my favorite beer on purpose?” You ask, poking fun at how much of an accommodating host Steve can be. When the pizza arrives you all settle down in the living room and watch some late-night sitcom. Steve tells you all about the lengths he's gone to get everyone to gather here.
Nancy is coming to visit with Johnathan, they are staying with her parents. Robin has no idea you were here, Steve had to come up with some ridiculous excuse for her not to show up today. Eddie called to tell him when he would be returning in a couple of days and Steve had to play it cool like nothing was going on. He told them we were throwing a get-together at the Hideout but didn't mention you in the slightest.
“Wow…Look at you pulling all the strings.” You clapped softly and Steve took a little bow. You were truly impressed with his ability to put all of this together. “Thank you, Steve. This is so cool of you.”
“It was nothin’ really. You called and I had to make it happen.” He shrugs with a half smile. You hug your friend and decide to excuse yourself. You had a long drive and it was exhausting. You walk back to Eddie’s room to turn in for the night. When you look over at the nightstand you see a pack of cigarettes, half empty. Eddie used to bum you cigs when you hung out at his trailer. You flash back to the time your Dad was drunk and acting out, arguing with your mom. You ran off to Eddie’s place and your mom almost called the cops.
You grabbed one out of the pack and used the lighter next to the ashtray. You opened up a window and placed the cigarette between your lips and lit it. The taste was like shaking hands with an old friend. It was smooth and you almost feel bad for breaking your 3 year streak but also, one won't hurt…probably. That same nostalgic feeling you felt opening those boxes came flooding back in.
We were just teenagers, there were so many signs that he was head over heels for you but you were naive, oblivious, and it hurt you a little. Neither of you had the guts to say anything to each other. A regret that made you feel shameful to say the least. You’ve wondered if he still has feelings for you or is he off having the time of his life with his groupie fangirls?
When you try to define this feeling it's next to impossible, you feel a sense of anticipation. It's like you’re eager to relive some feelings, or longing for a simpler time. You take a few drags and try to wave the smoke and your insecurities out the window. You can't wait to see Robin tomorrow. It's time to get some sleep, you have a feeling you won't be getting much for the rest of the week.
You put out your cigarette and shut the window, turn out the light, and finally crawl under the covers. You have to admit, his bed smells really good, like fresh linen and men's cologne. It made you feel especially comfortable, and it didn't take long to ease into a deep slumber. You could get used to this kind of contentment.

How the Avengers Would React to You Falling Asleep on Their Shoulder
(Includes: Thor and Natasha, was gonna do more but i got tired lol, gonna be a part 2 posted later with other Avengers)
Tumblr media
Now, we all know Thor is a huge himbo.
He's huge on physical affection--hugs, ruffling people's hair, patting them on the back--if he has adopted you as his friend, you are now subject to being bombarded with pure, wholesome, himbo interactions.
Now, let's say that one night, during one of the usual movie nights (bc you can't tell me that they didn't have any), you sat down next to him. Well, as we've established, he is very physically affectionate, which means that whoever ends up next to him pretty much volunteers to be his personal teddy bear.
One week it was Steve, the next it was Tony (though if ever brought up, he'd only pull up a video of when Thor did it to Steve), honestly, almost everyone had been in that position.
But this night, you were more tired than usual. Training had been harder that day, you hadn't gotten a great amount of sleep, and you were just exhausted.
Enter Thor's natural cuddliness.
You scooted up next to him on the large couch, leaning your head back against his side. Before you knew it, the comfortable warmth combined with him shifting to where your head was cushioned against his rather voluptuous pecs, had meant you were entirely too comfortable.
Five minutes into the movie and you were out.
Thor didn't notice until Natasha pointed out, too entranced with the strange Midgardian performance on the screen.
"Huh, I guess she wasn't exaggerating when she said she was exhausted," Natasha had commented, making Thor look to his left, only for that movement to cause you to slide.
Luckily, you didn't wake up, and instead only curled closer into his side.
Thor just looked down at you in awe.
You looked so pretty.
He stayed entirely still for the rest of the movie night, determined to let you rest as long as you needed.
He succeeded, but at the cost of him also dozing off on the couch.
The rest of the team saw the content expressions and let you two be, though a certain someone was very tempted to draw mustaches on the both of you.
Tumblr media
Natasha isn't a super touchy person.
After years of being nothing but a weapon for other's use, her bodily autonomy was something she couldn't bear to lose.
That's not to say that she couldn't be autonomous while still having no problem with touch, but she had used her body to get what others wanted for years.
She couldn't just forget all that and be able to hug people like anybody else. She had to work through it. And though she spent years reclaiming herself, making things right, things still stuck.
With the people she genuinely cared about, she was comfortable with physical affection, but she also didn't feel pressured into giving it. She didn't have to act like nothing phased her.
With you, she could just be Nat, not "the Black Widow" or "Natalie Rushman" or even "Natasha Romanoff". She wasn't an Avenger or a spy or an agent.
She was just her.
Given how close the two of you were, you had grown to understand her unease with sudden physical affection.
You respected her boundaries, only giving her that type of affection when she specifically said that it was okay.
One day though, you broke your rule of asking first.
It was dark out, the two of you were on the roof of the compound, looking up at the sky.
You were both sitting up, talking quietly, the occasional laugh exchanged.
But you had severely underestimated how tired you were.
Natasha felt your head rest on her shoulder, being faintly surprised just because you hadn't asked as you usually did.
But when she saw that your eyes were closed and your breathing was slow and even, she smiled softly.
Sure, touch wasn't her forte, but you had never made her uncomfortable, you had never pressured her, you had always stood close (but not too close, because you understood her need for personal space), and smiled at her sincerely no matter what.
Having you fall asleep on her shoulder, well, it just felt like the most pure affirmation that you trusted her.
And maybe she wouldn't let most people do it.
But you weren't most people.

Hi!
This idea just wont leave my head : reader strongly dislikes physical touch from anyone but Steve and, being the idiot he is, steve is completely oblivious to it. When the rest of the group tells him he doesn't believe them so they make up some master plan to prove him wrong. Basically #idiotsinlove
If you feel like writing that, itd be awesome. Have a lovely day <3

“Are you ever going to ask her out?” Robin’s sudden appearance startled him as he stared off into the distance. If you hadn’t been paying you might have thought he was zoned out, but in reality he had been staring at you the entire time. He was beyond grateful that he’d remembered his sunglasses. He’d been so enthralled by you that he hadn’t even heard Robin open the passenger door.
“Fuck,” he hissed under his breath, pointedly ignoring her question, “you could have tapped on the window first or something!”
“You could have been paying attention,” she threw her backpack in the back seat as he rolled his eyes at her behind the dark lenses of his Raybans, “don’t ignore my question, Steve!”
“Ask who out?”
“Don’t be so stupid,” she hit his arm as he started the car, casting you a last longing little glance before pulling away. Robin sweetly sang your name, and a dark flush of pink rose up in his cheeks, “you’re whipped for her. And she likes you too! So why not make a move?”
“She doesn’t - ugh, no. I didn’t think you could get so stupid,” he reached over and flicked her nose, causing her to grumble at him. The idea that you could like him even a fraction of how much he liked you was enough to cause his heart to constrict with nerves, “w-wait though…why do you think she likes me?”
“It’s not just me dingus,” she sat back and watched him closely, a little smirk on her face, “it’s all of us. I think it’s just you too that are blind. Like…idiots in love, basically. Besides, she has a huge tell.”
“Tell?”
“Yeah, how we know she likes you,” she was enjoying watching him squirm as he tried to keep his cool. She could tell he was spiraling inside, “she likes touching you-”
“Excuse me?” he turned to her and almost veered the car off the road, causing her to grumble loudly.
“Mind out of the gutter, Steve! Not like that,” she sighed when he pulled into the parking lot of Family Video. At least she wasn’t alone on her shift today; she had her best friend working with her. And she was going to make him confess his feelings if it was the last thing she did, “she…she’s not a physically affectionate person. You know…like Eddie - he’s always touching someone and he’s just more…openly affectionate I guess? But she’s like the exact opposite.”
“But she’s always hugged me or…”
“Exactly,” she nodded happily, “her tell! She won’t let any of us touch her but you. Only you. Are you putting two and two together?”
“I…” he turned the car off and gripped the steering wheel so tightly that his knuckles were turning white, “I think you’re all seeing things where you want to. I mean, I wish it was true - and there, now you can say made me admit I like her - but it’s not true. It’s wishful thinking.”
“I’m not wrong,” she insisted, refusing to give into his pessimism, “not all of us are wrong. You’ll see - we’ll get you to see that it’s true. Or you could just go and ask her out.”
“Not happening.”
“Well then, Harrington, it’s on.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Movie night always proved to be…chaotic. Chaotic in a good way, but what else could be expected when a bunch of teenagers, an empty house, and too much pizza and soda were involved? You were running a little late, your last tutoring gig having run longer than anticipated, but you came with a ton of cookies to make up for it.
You rocked back and forth on your heels as you waited for Steve, or anybody, to answer the door once you’d rung the bell. The idea of seeing Steve always put butterflies in your tummy, despite the fact that you’d known him and been his friend for years. That sweet, dopey dork had a hold on you that was palpable. The door slowly opened and you found Dustin grinned excitedly.
“Hey bud, you walked inside and kicked off your shoes as you handed him the container of cookies, “sorry I’m late - took forever today!”
“It’s okay,” he insisted as he set the box down and came back over, hesitating for just a moment before throwing his arms around you in a tight hug, “just so glad you’re here!”
“O-oh,” it took you a moment to react, but you gently and tentatively put your arms around him a light hug in return, “I’m glad to see you guys. Especially after this hellish week.”
“Hi!” Max darted over and almost knocked you down in her attempt to hug. You sighed lightly before wrapping an arm around her slim shoulders, “I’m glad you’re here. All these boys suck.”
“Hey!” Robin glowered from her spot on the couch before making her way over. You smiled at your friend and she managed to take you by surprise as she pressed kisses to your cheeks. What was with everyone today? They were all being so…weird, “missed you.”
“I saw you earlier,” you snorted as you raised your eyebrows in suspicion, “we have most of our classes together…”
“Still,” she insisted, dragging you into the living room where everyone was gathering with pizza, “it’s always better with you around.”
“Exactly,” Lucas hugged your legs from his spot on the floor and you just sighed lightly, “now the party can get started.”
“Should I be worried?” you looked around at the eager faces of your friends, “you’re all acting weird. Weirder than normal…and that’s saying a lot.”
“What do you mean?” Eddie’s grin stretched from ear to ear as he looked at you sweetly with those big brown eyes of his. You knew Eddie better than almost anyone else and now you knew something was up.
“Did you give them all laced blunts or something?” you sighed as he just shook his head in amusement before giggling happily. You heard your name whispered softly as you turned around to find Steve standing at the bottom of the stairs, a collection of blankets in his arms. Your expression softened as he grinned at you, “hi Stevie!”
Robin exchanged a sneaky little glance with Eddie as the two of them silently mouthed Stevie! at each other. Steve swallowed thickly before handing the blankets over to Dustin who just happened to appear at his side with perfect timing. His heart was practically hammering against his chest as he contemplated his next actions. His plan had been to hug you, to see if Robin’s theory had been right, but he found himself frozen. You tilted your head to the side, giving him that smile that made him weak in the knees, “h-hi.”
“Okay weirdo,” you reached up and touched his cheek before affectionately ruffing his glorious mop of hair. Steve was biting the inside of cheek so hard that it was a miracle that he wasn’t bleeding. Robin caught his eye from over your shoulder and gave him a little shrug as if to say told you so. But you…you’d always been like that with him. So openly affectionate and gentle and oh. Oh. He’d been so blinded with his own affection for you that he hadn’t noticed yours, “not you too! You’re all acting so weird. Are we gonna  do movie night or are you all going to continue acting like this?”
“Movie!” Eddie shouted happily as Dustin tossed blankets around for everyone to get comfortable. You watched as Steve took his customary spot on the big couch, on the far end, grabbing one of the big blankets and looking at you, silently asking if you were coming. It was normal for you to be next to him, normal for you to be tucked into his side, normal for him to put his arm around as you laid your head on his chest. Oh.
What was normal for the two of you…wasn’t normal for everyone. Not for people that were just friends. At the realization, your cheeks warmed up and you slowly made your way to him, almost flopping down as he tossed the blanket over both of you. You wondered if…maybe he felt the same way as you. You’d always thought you’d hidden your affection and sweetness for him well enough but now you were…absolutely questioning that.
Without even thinking about it, Steve pulled you into his side and his long arm wrapped around you. Only this time, you didn’t lay your head on his chest or on his shoulder, but your gaze was concentrated on him.
Lucas flipped off the lights as Eddie started the movie, casting the room into darkness save for the light of the television. You hadn’t even noticed what movie was playing, instead so hyper-aware and focused on Steve. You’d never been more aware of his closeness, of how his body felt next to yours. Suddenly it seemed like every time you had touched him had been taken for granted.
“Hey,” he leaned and whispered so long you could hear him, “is everything okay?”
“Y-yeah,” you swallowed the lump in your throat and nodded, giving him an unconvincing little smile, “just…tired.”
“Oh,” he almost sounded disappointed, but you could tell that he didn’t believe you, “okay.”
Despite your hesitation, you forced yourself to push through, to see if perhaps you could take it a little further. You slung your arm over his midsection before cuddling into his side and practically squishing your face into his chest. You could feel his sharp inhale before he slowly let it back out and he relaxed. Neither of you said anything for some time, sitting there comfortably tangled up, but unable to focus on the movie.
After what seemed like a small eternity, you couldn’t handle it anymore. You untangled yourself from Steve, sitting back on legs so you were facing him. His mouth opened in surprise for a moment, but when he noticed you studying him so intently, he grew nervous.
“C-can we go upstairs?” his heart almost dropped into his stomach at your words as his mind immediately started reeling with the possibilities. His mouth felt dry so he just nodded instead, not trusting himself to speak. You quietly climbed off the couch and padded towards the stairs with Steve following closely behind. You didn’t even look back or stop until you were at his door, letting yourself into his room.
There was something so familiar and comforting about his room; you’d been in here hundreds of times before but something about this moment felt so different. You sat down on his bed as he closed the door and leaned against it. You were looking at each other, both of you unable to look away.
“Stevie?” your gaze had shifted to your feet as you played with a loose thread on his blanket. He made a small sound of acknowledgement but didn’t push you any further, “why were they all acting so weird tonight? Is there something going on?”
“Whaddya mean?” he stuffed his hands into his pockets as you looked up and tutted at him.
“You know what I mean,” you sighed lightly, “they were all huggy and touchy. It’s not…I like touch, you know, but on my terms. It’s just…I dunno, I’ve always been that way. But…with you, i-it’s different. I don't know…I like when you…t-touch me."
There was a bemused little smile on his face as he waited for you to realize your mistake. When you did, your hands went to your face as your entire body felt like it was on fire, "fuck - Stevie, I didn't mean it like that. I just meant that I-I just…I like being close to you."
"I know what you meant," he moved from the door and came closer to you, tentatively and slowly to make sure he wasn't crossing any unspoken boundaries. When you didn't stop him, he sat down next to you, the mattress dipping under his weight. The two of you sat in silence for a few moments before he set his hand down on the bed next to yours, and you could feel his pinky brushing against yours.
"Steve-"
"Robin is convinced that you like me," he cut you off but had to do it because he wasn't sure if he'd get the courage to say it again, "she says you have this tell - that you don't like touching anyone else but me."
"Steve."
"She wanted to test her dumb theory and that's why everyone was so lovey dovey touchy feely today," he ran a hand through his hair in exasperation, "and I realize now that's a fucked up thing to do and probably made you feel uncomfortable and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have let them do it."
"It's okay," you smiled softly, the butterflies in your tummy fluttering around wildly. Robin knew - she had known. Which means that everyone else probably did too, "I thought they were being extra weird."
"Unfortunately."
"What was your conclusion?"
"I - ugh - what?"
"Your conclusion," you moved your hand ever so slightly closer to his and nudged his foot with yours, "what did you learn? About Robin's little theory."
"I…" he inhaled and trailed off, turning his head lightly towards you, "well…I-I think she was right."
"Oh,” it was a soft little sound that caused him to panic and spiral almost immediately. Oh. It could have meant a hundred different things but your expression was giving away nothing. Meanwhile you were trying not to panic out of sheer excitement because holy fuck - that meant Steve did like you. Or at least…probably did. Shit. Were you reading into this too much now? You allowed yourself a small glance at him and realized he’d been staring at you this entire time.
You shifted so you were fully sitting on his bed, cross-legged as you waited to see who would break the tension. He nervously rubbed his palms on his thighs before letting out a small, nervous laugh, “oh.”
“Steve,” you put your hand on his arm, willing him to look at you, but all he did was stare at the floor, “Stevie.”
He turned at the sound of his nickname, his big, soft brown eyes meeting yours. You could tell there was a nervous little hope behind them. He’d never let anyone else call him Stevie. It had always irked and irritated him but when you said it? It practically made him weak in the knees. Swallowing the nervous lump in his throat, he moved so his position was mirroring yours.
You felt so vulnerable and open with him, but you never once felt scared or nervous. He always made you feel safe - protected. In a blur and without letting yourself overthink for one, you put your hand on his cheek and surged forward to kiss him. He made a small sound of surprise, taken aback by your sudden boldness, but quickly kissed you right back. It was messy at first, clumsy and awkward and your teeth clicked together a few times, but you soon found a rhythm that was both needy and saccharine.
He pulled and you pushed your way onto his lap, and he settled his hands on your waist as you wrapped your arms around his neck. When he had thoroughly kissed you until you were both breathless, he pulled back and you both exchanged a nervous little laugh.
“So ‘oh’ was a good thing then?” he asked sweetly as he cupped your face in his warm, large hand before stroking your cheek.
“Yeah,” you nodded, feeling warm from his touch, “it was.”
“Fuck me,” his groan was playful as he pressed his forehead against yours before you kissed him again. He tasted of salty popcorn, sweet cookies, and faint mint. You liked it - you liked him. You really like kissing him; you’d imagined this moment at least a million times and this still felt better than anything you could have ever dreamed up, “Robin is never going to let me live it down once she realizes she was right.”
“Maybe it’s not such a bad thing,” you whispered, leaning in so your lips were brushing against his, “maybe it’s the little push we finally needed.”
“I would have said…something a long time again if I had any idea that you’d feel even remotely the same,” he admitted as a wicked blush rose up in his cheeks. You pulled back and looked at him with wide eyes. Those soft, big doe eyes make him bite the inside of his cheek to keep from moaning out loud.
“What do you mean?” you whispered, “did you not think I liked you? Steve, I’ve loved you for a long time.”
“Y-you..love me?”
“Oh, ahh, shit,” you scratched the back of your neck nervously, pulling back from him for just a moment, “I-I didn’t mean it how it sounded. It’s just that…I like you a lot and it’s-”
“I love you,” his hands found your face as he pulled you back down to his lips. This time he kissed you slowly, pouring every little bit of love, every unspoken word into the kiss, hoping you were able to feel it. You were, “have for a long time.”
“Oh Steve,” this time it was your turn to kiss him, and the two of you were quickly lost in each other and one thing led to another as you ended up under him, beaming up at him happily. He leaned down and you brushed some of the soft locks of hair out of his face, and he couldn’t stop from kissing you again, “Steve.”
“Hey!” Robin knocked loudly on his door and you could hear Eddie giggling along with her, “movie’s over and ugh…we’re gonna continue this at the Wheelers’ so you guys have some…privacy.”
“Unless you’re already having sex!” oh Eddie.
“Good,” Steve groaned lightly as you just smiled at him, “now go!”
“Steve?” Robin’s voice was sticky sweet and you both already knew what was coming, “I told you so.”
“Goodbye!” Steve buried his face into the crook of your shoulder as you just laughed, “our friends are the worst.”
“Sometimes,” you agreed, “but right now, I’m kind of thankful for them. So, tell me Stevie…do you want to have sex?”
“I...fuck,” he closed his and let out a wistful little moan, “yeah, I really do.”
“Good,” you whispered, “me too. But also - I love you.”
“I love you.”

You’re pacing around the room trying to get your emotions in check. Today was the day your life will change forever. Nat walked in, wearing her navy blue tea length dress.
“Y/N, you've gotta calm down and get dressed already!” she scolded.
You take a deep breath and look at the floor length mirror. Your hair and makeup were done to perfection and you were standing in your white silk robe.
“What if we're not meant to be? What if this is all a huge mistake?” you say, panic evident in your voice.
It was the day after you and Bucky finally talked it out. He planned on taking you out on a proper date this time. He told you he would pick you up at 7, and at exactly 7, you heard the buzzer.
You were running around like a chicken with your head cut off because you'd gotten out of work late, which never happens. You buzz him in and quickly run into your room to slip your dress on.
You heard the knock on the door and started to panic because your hair was a disaster and you didn’t have time to reapply your makeup. You run to the door, looking slightly disheveled. You open it to see Bucky looking as handsome as ever.
Bucky furrowed his brows seeing the panic on your face.
“You okay, baby?” he asks.
You shake your head as tears start to form. “I-I got out of work late, and so I haven’t had time to fix my hair or my makeup and you planned this whole night and now I’m ruining it!” you said, choking on a sob.
Bucky quickly embraced you and kissed the top of your head. “Y/N, I don’t care where our first date is. I just want to be with you. If we miss our dinner reservation, we can go to the diner or get pizza. It's ok. Please don't cry. And by the way... you already look amazing.”
You look at him for a moment before you pull him close and kiss him deeply. Bucky was taken aback at first, but then wrapped his arms around you. When you pulled back you looked at him with determination.
“Give me 10 minutes, and I’ll be ready,” you said softly before going into your room.
You knew at that point that Bucky was the one for you. Always and forever.
Nat took both your hands and made you look at her. “Do you love him?” she asks. You nod. “Do you want to be with him for the rest of your life?” she asks, and again you nod. “Then shut up with the stupid questions and get your ass dressed! You need to be walking down that aisle to your man in 10 minutes!” Nat said with authority. She pushed you toward your dress and smacked your ass.
Once you were in your white strapless floor length gown, that showed all your curves perfectly, you felt slightly more confident. Your mom and dad walked in and gushed over how beautiful you looked. Your mom gave you a hug and left the room with Natasha to get ready to start the ceremony. Your dad offered his arm and led you out of the room.
Bucky was waiting at the end of the aisle with Sam and his other best friend Steve. When you entered the room with your dad, he couldn’t help but watch you walk toward him in awe. He can’t believe you were finally going to be his forever.
You'd been dating for a year, and it honestly was the best year of your life. Bucky had moved into your apartment, especially after you gave him a key again, after a month of dating. You both were the happiest you had ever been.
You were planning your next visit out to Nat in Seattle in the next month or so. You both cuddled together on the couch looking at the computer to purchase plane tickets. Bucky has his arm wrapped around you, and every few minutes kisses you temple, cheek and grabbing your chin he kissed your lips.
What started out as innocent, turned into a full blown make out session and then passionate love making. Your plane tickets forgotten. As you both lay on the couch, calming down from your exertion, Bucky turns your face to him.
“Marry me?” he asks softly, as he brushes the hair stuck to your face from sweat.
You smile and tears come your your eyes. “Oh my god! Bucky, yes of course I'll marry you!” you shout as you wrap your arms around his neck.
Bucky smiles and kisses you softly. “I was going to wait until Seattle, but I just couldn’t wait anymore. I love you, Y/N. You're everything to me. We were truly meant to be from the moment we saw each other, and I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with you.”
You can’t help crying tears of happiness. “I love you too, Bucky, so fucking much. I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together!” You say as you bring him in for another kiss.
Bucky and you were more then lovers, you were best friends. You told each other everything and anything. You barely fought anymore, though there was the occasional disagreement. You both swore to never go to bed angry, and that also pushed you to settle your quarrels quickly. Plus you couldn’t stand to be away from each other.
Nat was your cheerleader all the way through your relationship, which is why she is proudly standing by you as your maid of honor. She met her current boyfriend Bruce at work, and the two have been together for a year. She's never been so happy.
You and Bucky make frequent trips to Seattle to see Nat, and she visits New York with Bruce often. You’re so glad that the distance didn’t change your friendship. You know none of this would have been possible without her.
“Oh my god!!” Nat screamed as she saw your ring! She ran up and gave you the biggest hug, squeezing you so tight. “I can’t believe you guys are getting married!” She said as she hugged Bucky.
“Nat, none of this would have happened if you hadn’t pushed us to stop being stupid. So… will you be my maid of honor?” you ask. Nat jumped up and down screaming YES!
You look at Bucky as you get closer to him, and you can’t help your wide cheesy smile. God you loved this man and you can’t imagine what life would be like without him. You don’t even remember what life was like without him. As you finally make it to Bucky, your father shook his hand and gave you away.
After your vows were said, you finally heard the words you were waiting for, “You may kiss the bride”. Bucky pulled you to him and crashed his lips into yours. To say you were the happiest people in the world would be an understatement.
After a fun reception, you said goodbye to your family and friends and went up to the honeymoon suite of the hotel. You both had to be up early to catch your flight to Bora Bora, but you spent the entire night entwined in each other. Bucky showed you how much he loved you over and over.
Six months later you get another surprise. You’re pregnant! Bucky was beyond happy, and you both decided that it was time to start looking for a house and leave the city. You found the perfect home in the suburbs that was still close enough to the city for work and your friends.
“Bucky? Are you home?” you shout from the bathroom in your apartment.
“Yeah baby, I'm in the kitchen. You okay?” Bucky called as he walks toward the bathroom.
You take a deep breath and hand him the stick. He looks confused at first, but then, slowly, a huge smile appears on his face. “You’re pregnant?” he asks in disbelief. You nod.
Bucky shouts with joy as he sweeps you off your feet and spins you around. You both are laughing as he stops and just holds you.
“I can’t believe I’m going to be a daddy.” He says.
You smile. “I know! And I’m going to be a mommy!”
Bucky kisses you softly. “Well, I think we need to move out of the city. I want my kids to have a big backyard with a pool and swing set.” Bucky says as he walks over to grab his laptop.
Shortly after the move you gave birth to your son, Matthew James Barnes. He was the spitting image of his father, and you hoped he would turn out just like him. After an easy birth, you and Bucky sit on your bed holding your son. Bucky continues to kiss you head and thanking you for his son.
You look up at Bucky with tears in your eyes. You think back to that terrible first year of knowing each other, and then the terrible drive to Seattle. You can’t help but laugh to yourself that all of that craziness led you to the best thing in your life. Your loving husband and son. You wouldn’t want it any other way.

--------------
“Happy holidays my love!” Eddie shouted into your house, the smell of cookies filling his senses.
“In the kitchen!” You yelled back.
“Whoa, you really made enough cookies to feed an army!” Eddie exclaimed, looking at the baked goods all over your kitchen.
Steve invited the two of you over for his annual Christmas dinner party, and this was the first year Eddie was invited, so you wanted to make sure he made a good impression, and cookies always help.
“Have you met our friends? It is an army of hormonal teenagers who love to eat.” You said, leaning in to kiss Eddie.
“True,” Eddie added, taking a bite of a sugar cookie. “How long have you been baking?”
“Since six.”
“In the morning?!” Eddie said with shock, making you smile and roll your eyes.
“Not all of us sleep until two in the afternoon.”
“One in the afternoon, for your information.” Eddie corrected. You threw an M&M at him, which he caught and threw into his mouth.
You finished packing up all of the cookies, making sure they were wrapped in cute boxes. Eddie managed to steal a few more without you noticing, and helped you carry the boxes to his van.
“Are you still staying at my place tonight?” Eddie asked as he placed the boxes down.
“Yeah, if that’s fine with you.” You said, getting in the front seat.
“Duh,” Eddie replied, starting the van and letting it warm up.
Eddie began driving to Steve’s house, you finalizing your makeup and hair in the mirror. You looked back at your duffle bag, and the boxes of cookies, scanning the empty space next to them. Your head slowly turned to Eddie, anger boiling inside of you.
“Where are the presents for everyone?” You questioned. Eddie’s eyes went wide.
“Uhh.” Was all Eddie could get out.
“Did you forget to buy the gifts, Eddie?! Please tell me you got them and just forgot them at your house!” You shouted, trying to control your anger.
“I may or may not have completely forgotten to go buy them…”
“Eddie, I gave you a list! Is it really that hard to do something for your girlfriend?”
“Y/N, I’m sorry. We can stop right now and get stuff.” Eddie told you.
“No, we don’t have time. I can’t believe you. I never ask for anything, and the time I do, you’d rather sleep all day.” You said, extremely frustrated.
“Seriously? I’m sorry I forgot! Just drop it.”
“Just drop it? Wow, okay, I’ll just drop it.” You returned, glad to see you were pulling up to Steve’s house and could get away from Eddie. You knew you should’ve gone shopping yourself instead of trusting him.
You opened the car door, slamming it shut and going around to the other side to grab boxes. Eddie stood next to you, grabbing the ones you didn’t.
“Can we please talk about this later? I want to have a good night.” Eddie said quietly to you.
“So did I.” You said, marching inside and leaving Eddie in your dust.
“Y/N!” Steve greeted as you walked in the door. “Let me get those!” He took the boxes from you, not without giving you a huge hug first.
“Finally!” Robin said, coming out of the kitchen. “Cookies!” You gave her a look. “I mean, my best friend, yay!” She gave you a hug, almost pulling you down. “What’s wrong with you?” She questioned, noticing the straight look on your face.
“Eddie, that’s what’s wrong.” As you said this, Eddie walked through the door. “Speak of the devil.”
You walked into the kitchen with Steve, greeted by the sugar-high army of kids taking over the entire room. Max immediately at your side, arms wrapped around you.
“Where’s the freak?” She asked, making you raise your brows.
“You know I don’t like when you guys call him that.” You told her.
“Okay, guy who screams at children and plays demon games.” She said, making you laugh.
“Hey! It is not a demon game!” Dustin shouted at Max.
“Is too!” El added.
“It’s kinda true.” You said, laughing.
“Is Max saying we play demon games again?” Eddie’s voice filled the room.
“Yes! This is an outrage!” Dustin pouted.
Eddie ruffed up Dustin’s hair, then shoving the boy, laughing. He looked at you, sympathetically smiling. You looked away, still upset with him. Eddie felt horrible. You had never been this mad at him before, and he also felt bad that none of his friends would get gifts, all because of his selfishness and absent mind.
“You can let your anger out on food! Let us eat!” Steve announced.
Everyone made their way to the dining room table, Max and Robin fighting over who would sit next to you. They eventually agreed you’d sit between them, leaving Eddie across the table from you, in between Mike and Dustin. You all dug into the delicious food Nancy and her mom made, and the mashed potatoes Robin made sure to announce she stirred.
“Let’s go around and say what we want for Christmas and what our New Years resolutions are!” Robin told the group.
“Good idea, Rob,” Steve told her, making her smile with victory.
“I want the newest edition of D&D, and my resolution is to beat Eddie at it!” Dustin said proudly.
You looked down, knowing the newest edition was on the gift list for Dustin because it would mean more coming from Eddie. Eddie noticed your reaction, sighing to himself; remembering the list.
“I would like the new Jenga game Max and I saw at the mall! And what’s a New Years’ resolution?” El added, making everyone give her a questioning look, then laughing.
As everyone continued saying what they wanted and their resolutions, Eddie felt immense guilt. Most of the things everyone wanted were on your list for him to get. It wasn’t until you spoke that Eddie really felt like shit.
“I would like all of my amazing friends to have everything they wished for.” You said in a serious tone. “And my resolution is to actually survive another year of demo-dogs and Vecna’s.” You joked, making everyone laugh.
“No! No more of those at all!” Robin shouted, everyone, laughing more. Standing up suddenly though, with a completely straight face, was Eddie. This quieted everyone down, all eyes on the long-haired, tattooed boy with big brown eyes.
“The only thing I want for Christmas is you,” Eddie said, looking almost into your soul. “And my resolution is to be a better boyfriend who doesn’t screw up.” Eddie sat back down, then rose again. “Oh, and to continue to kick Henderson’s ass during campaigns.” He sat down once more, everyone looking extremely confused.
“What did you do, Munson?” Steve demanded.
“He forgot to buy your gifts. I gave him a list and he forgot to go.” You said simply.
“How dare you?!” Dustin stated, looking at Eddie. “You remembered mine though, right?” The boy added.
“Do you see the new D&D game? No.” Eddie told him. “Sorry, buddy.”
“Screw you,” Dustin said, turning around and crossing his arms.
“Y/N is already mad enough at me, I don’t need you mad too,” Eddie told Dustin.
“Too late,” Dustin responded.
“There will be no sad faces on Christmas!” Eddie shouted, mainly talking to you and Dustin. “Y/N, I’m sorry! Dustin, grow up.”
“I suppose I can forgive you…” Dustin said.
“It’s not Christmas day, but I suppose I can forgive you too.” You added, sympathetically smiling at Eddie.
“It’s not like you forgot to get your girlfriend a gift, just us,” Robin said cluelessly, making you realize you never asked if he forgot to get you one too. You looked at Eddie, raising your brows curiously.
“Yeah, funny,” Eddie stated, laughing awkwardly.
“You didn’t get Y/N anything either?!” She shouted.
“Robin, you’re making it worse,” Steve told her.
“Even I got her something! And I don’t have money!”
“What did you get me?” You questioned.
“A shirt.” She replied, winking at you.
“Is it one of your shirts?” You asked, knowing your best friend.
“That’s beside the point, Y/N,” Robin told you, making you laugh.
“How about we all go and play Christmas games and enjoy the rest of the night, okay?” Steve suggested, trying to distract away from the current conversation. Everyone agreed, making their way to the living room.
Once the night died down, you and Eddie headed back to his house, quiet the entire drive. Eddie couldn’t stand it, and he hated that you were mad at him. He parked the van, both of you getting out and heading for the door. Reaching into his pocket for the house key, Eddie had a “genius” idea.
“I think I forgot my key,” Eddie stated bluntly.
“What do you mean, forgot your key?” You questioned, crossing your arms.
“I must have left it inside and Wayne locked the door when he left for work.”
“Of course, you forgot that too.” You said angrily. “We can just go to my house.” You said, already heading back for the van.
You tried opening the door, but it was locked. You looked at Eddie, widening your eyes so he’ll open the door. Eddie looked at his van keys, then suddenly chucking them as far as he could into the endless snow on the ground.
“What the fuck Eddie?!” You yelled at him, walking up to him in a hurry. “Why did you just throw those away?!”
“Because we aren’t going anywhere until we fix this,” Eddie said stubbornly.
“It’s negative two degrees out, Eddie!”
“We have jackets on.” He responded, matter of factly.
“Seriously? If I freeze to death, I’m blaming you!”
“Blame me all you want. I’m fixing this and I don’t care what it takes, Y/N!” Eddie said, getting closer to you.
“We could’ve fixed this in a nice warm house!” You said.
“Yeah, where there are other bedrooms for you to hide in and not talk to me. I know you Y/N Y/L/N! You will ignore me for about an hour then come hug me and apologize even if it wasn’t your fault. I’m just speeding up the process.” This made you freeze, more than you already physically were.
“You left out how great our makeup sex is.” You said, quietly. Eddie smirked, grabbing your waist and pulling you to him, wrapping his arms tightly around you. This always got you. You wrapped your arms around his neck, holding each other as close as you could.
“Hug, check. Now for makeup sex.” Eddie said into your hair.
“You’re absolutely insane if you think I am having sex in the snow!” You said, backing away and hitting Eddie’s shoulder. Eddie smirked once more, reaching into his pocket and holding up his set of house keys. “EDWARD MUNSON!” You yelled at him, realizing what keys those were. “Are you kidding me?!”
“Great plan, wasn’t it.” Eddie winked.
“An amazing one because now you get to go look for your van keys in the snow.” You stated, tip-toeing to whisper into his ear. “While I lay naked in bed.” You stepped back. “Better hurry.” You grabbed the house key from Eddie’s hand, turning around and heading into the warm trailer. Eddie made a fist, biting it softly and quickly ran to find his keys, not trying to waste a second away from you.
—-
You woke up the next morning in an empty bed. You sat up right away, confused as to why Eddie wasn’t holding you in his arms like usual. You got up, putting on Eddie’s shirt that was on the floor, covering your underwear, and opened the bedroom door.
“Eddie?” You called out. That’s when you saw all of your friends sitting in the living room, surrounded by gifts.
“You should put clothes on when you have guests over, Y/N,” Robin told you, getting up off the couch and hugging you. “At least a bra.” She whispered in your ear as she hugged you.
“Then you should let go and stop being weird.” You said, laughing.
“Are you sure you’re not gay? I think we’d make a great couple.” Robin said, looking at you.
“Back off Buckley, she’s mine,” Eddie told her, walking over to you.
“You’ll mess up again, and that’s when I’ll swoop in,” Robin said, winking and walking back to the others, you laughing at her antics.
“Did you go get their gifts?” You asked, smiling.
“Yeah, first thing this morning. That was more important than sleeping until two.” Eddie said, kissing your forehead.
“Thought it was one?” You teased.
“Smart ass.” He pulled you to him, bear-hugging you as tight as he could. “Merry early Christmas,” Eddie told you, pulling away and handing you a small box.
“You didn’t have to get me anything.”
“I already know you went all out with my gift, per usual. Just open it.”
You unwrapped the box, opening it to reveal a beautiful blue ring. You remembered this ring, saying you liked it many months ago when you and Eddie walked past the jewelry shop.
“Eddie.” You smiled, tears forming in your eyes.
“It’s no engagement ring, but it’s a good placeholder until we’re ready for the real deal,” Eddie said, smiling.
“Good thing it’s not, because proposing while I’m in underwear and a shirt is a little much.” You said, laughing. “I love it so much, thank you,” You wrapped your arms around Eddie’s torso. “I love you so much.”
“I love you, so so much.”
“Can you two hurry up with the mushy stuff? It’s time for Eddie to come play with us!” Dustin announced, making you look up from Eddie’s chest, your arms still wrapped around him.
“You heard the boy.” You said, giving Eddie a kiss.
“Who invited them here again?”
“You did.” You confirmed.
“Remind me to never do that again,” Eddie told you, you nodding.
“Eddie!” Dustin shouted.
“Hold your damn horses Henderson, I’m coming!”
You watched as the boys gathered around the coffee table, ready to start what was probably going to be a long campaign; Steve and Robin sighing as they drank eggnog at the kitchen counter; and El and Max playing Jenga in front of them. You had a huge smile on your face, feeling so incredibly blessed to have the most amazing friends and boyfriend in the entire world.

i'm outta my head over you Pt. 7
prologue (Pt. 1) | Pt. 2 | Pt. 3 | Pt. 4 | Pt. 5 | Pt. 6 | AO3 | playlist
this is the last chap of my steddie week fic!! i have a little blurb i may do for tomorrow's open ended prompt, but for now, here's the last @steddie-week prompt: misunderstandings
Tumblr media
Robin stops him as they’re herding the gremlins into their respective vehicles. You’d think that after nearly five hours of spending the four barely adults’ money would be enough time at the arcade. But no. They’re all fighting them on leaving. As if they all won’t be asleep by the time they get home.
“Once you get it done, you may want to get up early.”
“Uh..what?”
“Steve always goes for a run at like ass o’clock in the morning.” she’s speaking low and fast to try and not draw attention to them, but their normal level of volume with one another is normally 100 times louder than this, so she’s really doing the exact opposite. “If you get up early enough, you can leave it for him while he’s gone.”
“Okayokay, I got it! Now stop making this weird.”
She looks around to find Steve already staring at the two of them questioningly.
“Oh shit… OKAY, YEAH, GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR DATE EDDIE.” she practically yells.
“What the hell, Robin? I don’t have a date!”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m sure it’ll be great!” she’s walking away already, shrugging like even she doesn’t know why the fuck she said that. “Call me when you’re home!”
Eddie smacks his palm against his forehead and turns to his van, not even daring to look at Steve again.
He finally does dare once he’s in his van and has started moving, giving Steve a ‘nothing wrong or weird here’ wave as he pulls away.
The expression on Steve’s face is indiscernible. Somewhere stuck between totally blank, and the most devastated look he’s ever seen.
Damnit, Robin.
He only ended up with Max in his van on the way back, so when they get back, he helps her inside, and resigns himself to staying up all night to finish the tape.
He pulls in next to Wayne’s truck at the same time his uncle is coming out the front door, a dufflebag in hand.
“You off to work early old man?” and he asks as he gets out of his van, it’s only about 9 PM now and his uncle doesn’t usually go in until near midnight.
“Yep, gettin’ some dinner with the fellas before we head in. Gotta leave shift early to go visit yer aunt.”
Ah. “That time of year is it?”
“Yep, I’ll see ya tomorrow evenin’, son. Don’t be getting into any trouble, y’hear?”
Eddie just shrugs. “You know me.”
“That’s exactly my point.” Wayne says with a crinkly smirk.
He gives his uncle a short hug, and Wayne kisses the top of his head with another ‘be safe’.
Then, because he’s agonizing about it, Eddie spends the next couple hours cleaning the trailer instead of picking the last two songs that will go on his side (listening to said tape while he does).
He’s still got some ideas from before, but only a couple good ones..and not all of them will fit in the time he’s estimated is left on the B side.
It isn’t until he gets to Be My Baby on his second listen through that he knows which one he’s going to add next.
Tumblr media
After he’s got that one figured out and recorded, there definitely isn’t enough room left for the rest of the picks, so he adds the one he thinks says the most about how he feels about Steve, the one that says everything he needs to say.
Tumblr media
-----
“Robin did say ‘ass o’clock’,” Eddie says to himself, glancing at the clock in his dashboard.
5:13. Yeah, that sounds right.
Eddie lets out a huge cracking yawn. Okay, he’s definitely gonna crash once he gets back to the trailer. He was so wired after finally finishing the tape, he couldn’t sleep even though he wanted to.
He makes it to Steve's street and parks up the road a bit (not wanting the rattle of his van to alert Steve to his presence if he hadn’t left yet), and walks the last leg. The tape in his pocket feels like it weighs a million pounds.
When he finally rounds the bushes at the front edge of Steve’s yard, Eddie feels every cell in his body seize up at once.
Nancy’s car is in the driveway.
What the–
Suddenly, the front door opens. He dives back behind the bushes, peeking through the leaves. You know, like a sane person?
Why the fuck is Nancy leaving Steve's house so early
Why is Steve only wearing those tiny fuckin’ shorts?
Oh no..
Oh shit.
There’s only one fucking reason
This is all wrong! Nancy knows he has feelings for Steve, was that not what that was at the arcade?
She’s with Robin, she didn’t refute it.
Oh fuck, he’s gonna have to tell Robin.
Eddie debates making himself known, let himself barrel over whatever awkwardness may arise, but he’s still got his heart in his pocket, addressed to Steve.. What’s he supposed to do with that then?
“Oh hey Steve, didn’t see you there! Just came by to drop off your very personal property that your best friend stole for me to defile! Nancy? Oh hey, you’re here! What’s up with tha–”
He’s startled out of his thoughts when the door of Nancy's station wagon shuts, the engine turning over.
She pulls out, thankfully heading away from where he’s hidden.
Eddie watches until she’s out of sight, then jumps again when he hears Steve’s front door close.
Steve does a few hops in place from foot to foot on his front stoop (still shirtless), and starts off on his run the same way Nancy had gone. Had he been able to see shirtless, sweaty Steve whenever he wanted?? He just goes for runs like this every day? Why had no one told him??
‘Oh fuckin’ hell, shut up, shutup!!’ He yells at himself.
Now what?
Eddie sits in the grass in Steve Harrington’s front yard and stares at the back of his mailbox.
Does he still leave the tape? Of course he should, it is Steve’s tape afterall.
But what about the songs? Steve’s not gonna want his bullshit now…
He could go back to his van and re-write the note then come back and leave it. No, he wouldn’t have time now, Steve’s athletic, yeah, but Eddie’s been frozen in his front yard for a while now. He’d be back soon.
Fuck it.
He’ll drop the tape on the front step, go back home and pack up his shit. Yeah. Good a time as any to get the fuck outta here.
Confessing your feelings to one of your closest friends who very obviously just got back together with his ex not even ten hours after you’d seen him and were very obviously flirting with each other?
Yeah. Not ideal.
Does he have the funds to get the fuck outta here? No. But he’s got enough for gas and he’s got a van. He’ll just load his mattress into the back and be gone before the rest of the town fully wakes up.
Good plan, Eddie’s brain. Thank you, rest of Eddie.
-------
Steve slows to a jog once he can see his house, cooling down from his run on the last little bit of his road, and stopping in his driveway to do some stretches back to the door.
He’s sinking down into his last lunge when he sees the little square of…something…sitting on the front step.
“The hell?”
He stoops down and picks it up, turns it over. There’s a piece of lined paper rubber banded around it.
Peeling off the band, Steve steps inside and unfolds the letter, leaning back on the now closed front door to read
Tumblr media
“...oh no…” Steve looks down at the case in his hand. Now he sees why the rubberband was necessary, there’s another folded wad of papers shoved into the cassette’s case, now popped open without the band holding it together.
His heart, previously calmed down from his run, now beat wildly in his chest as he unfurls the short stack of paper.
He reads the first line, ‘8. I Was Made For Lovin’ You...’
“Holy shit.”
Steve books it up the stairs, he’s gotta get showered, he’s gotta get changed, he’s got one more song to add to the tape.
-------
Eddie’s just finished packing up his clothes when his alarm clock radio goes off, the 7am alarm still set for when he has to get up for school.
“...still don’t believe it, he was just leaving OH there must be some misunderstanding! There must be some kind of mistake…” blasts through the tinny speakers.
Nopenopenope, not dealing with that right now.
He slaps the clock around until it finally shuts off its maniacal teasing, and goes back to packing (and blinking away some wayward tears).
He’s just dropped the second bag of clothes and his sweetheart in her case by the front door and is contemplating if his mattress would actually fit in the back of his van, when there’s a knock on the door.
Eddie’s gut freezes mid-flip.
Oh no. Please n–
“Eddie, are you there? It’s Steve. Can I come in?”
‘Don’t move. Don’t make a single sound. Maybe he’ll think you’re not home and just leave.’
“C’mon man, I know you’re in there. You’re van’s out here.”
“Shit.”
Eddie trudges his way to the front door and opens it.
Even with floppy, just-washed, hair and an inside-out polo, Steve’s still the most beautiful person in existence.
“What do you want, Steve?” Wow. Even he’s surprised at how morose he sounds.
“I uh, I got your tape..my tape? I got your note. I added one more song and I thought, maybe, I could–” Steve looks down. “Are you..” his voice pitches high so he clears it. “Are you going somewhere?”
“Mhm.” Eddie can’t look him in the eye. He stares at the porch.
“Where are you–”
“Just going, ‘kay Steve? No need to worry about me being around anymore.” Eddie practically spits, still not looking up at his friend.
“Eddie, what are you–” he cuts himself off, his voice going soft. “Did you not mean what you said?”
That makes Eddie look up at him. Steve’s gaze is now cast downwards, staring blankly at Eddie’s packed bags.
“...I meant every word. Every song, Steve. But that doesn’t matter now, does it?” he’s truly mad now, who does he think he is, trying to act all glum like he wasn’t the one betraying his best friend.
“B-betraying my best–Eddie, what the hell are you talking about?”
Damn! He said that out loud.
“Just go away, Steve. I won’t tell Robin, but you definitely should.” Eddie moves to close the front door and turns back towards his room. He doesn’t hear it close, but he hears the creak of the floor when Steve follows him in.
Of. Course.
“Tell Robin what, Eddie? I already told her how I felt about you, that’s why she stole you the tape in the first plac–”
“Not that! You–” Eddie clenches his fists at his sides and spins back to face Steve. “That you hooked up with her girlfriend last night.” Steve’s face pales and Eddie continues on. “Yeah. I came by to drop off your tape; Robin thought I could leave it there when you left for your run. But lo and behold, what do I see when I come by? Nancy Wheeler’s car in your driveway at ass o’clock in the morning.
“Now, I may be a third time senior, but even I know what the fuck that means. Especially when, not long after I’ve gotten there, the Lady Wheeler herself waltzes out the door with Tiny Shorts McGee following her like a lost puppy.” he gestures at Steve, who’s still frozen in place by the door.
“So yeah, you can just burn those notes for all I care, I don’t even know why I still left it. Whatever. I’m leaving today anyway so you don’t need to worry about me pining hopelessly after you, ‘kay?”
Eddie’s chest is heaving, his eyes are burning with unshed tears, and Steve…starts laughing.
“I fuckin’ knew it!” There are tears spilling freely out of his eyes now. “You’re really good y’know, had everyone fooled. Even me! King Steve is alive and well, everyone!” Eddie spreads his hands wide and yells to no one.” I can’t believe you got me to fall for your good guy schtick. Get the fuck outta my house, Harrington.” Eddie points to the door, stalking forward.
“Eddie! Eddie, wait, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have laughed.” Steve puts his hands out and Eddie stops, crossing his arms and glaring. “Eddie, please, Nancy was only dropping something off for me.”
“Yeah righ–”
“She was! She came by that early because she’s driving to an interview this morning at a paper in Indy. She knew I’d be up for my run anyway, so she stopped to give me the revisions she made to my–you know what, hold on. I’m calling Robin.”
“Steve, I told you to get the fuck out of my house, not go further into it.”
Steve ignores him and goes to the phone, giving Eddie as wide of a berth as he can while he passes. He picks it up and dials.
“I’m not fucking kidding, Harrington, get the fuck out of here–” Eddie’s anger is multiplied tenfold when Steve holds out a finger to shush him.
“Hi Mr. Buckley, this is Steve. I’m sorry to call so early, but can I please speak to Robin? There was a last minute change to our schedule…thank you.’
Eddie watches Steve’s face morph from his customer service expression, to an admittedly frightening pissed off smile when Robin apparently gets on the line.
“Hey Robin! I found my Eddie tape! It’s the funniest thing, I came back from my run and it was sitting on my doorstep.”
Eddie can hear the muffled sound of Robin’s voice coming through the earpiece.
“I know, isn’t that crazy?” Damn, Steve’s passive aggressive voice is…something else. “He must’ve dropped it off while I was gone..why wouldn’t he give it to me in person?”
Steve waves at Eddie to come closer, and when he stubbornly doesn’t, Steve rolls his eyes and comes to him, stretching the cord across the kitchen as he does.
“Hmmm...maybe.. Or maybe something scared him off?” He takes in an over-dramatic sarcastic gasp. “Or maybe, my best friend and soulmate who stole the tape for him, told him to come by at the exact worst time! When she knew a certain ex of mine and current girlfriend of hers was stopping by before leaving to Indy and it scared him off!”
Steve tilts the handset out from his ear so Eddie can hear..there’s complete silence on the other end.
“That would suck, don't you think? Seeing your crush’s ex leaving their house early in the morning when you’re coming over to confess to them?” He continues.
“Oh. My. God. Steve!! I am so so sorry I–”
“Don’t apologize to me, apologize to Eddie.”
Steve grabs up Eddie’s hand and wraps it around the handset, forcing him to take it, then stomps off into the living room.
Eddie puts the phone to his ear and walks back to the receiver, Robin rambling in his ear the whole way.
“--ddie, I’m so so sorry! I totally forgot Nancy was dropping off Steve’s paper this morning before she went to her interview! Please please don’t be mad at me, actually, scratch that. Be super mad at me, but definitely not at Steve, okay? I should have remembered, I should have told you, I should hav–”
It’s effective, he feels the anger draining out of him. “Robin, Robin! It’s okay, you’re okay.” Eddie glances over at Steve, who’s pacing up and down the short length of the trailer’s living room. “But now I have a very pissed off Harrington in my house right now…you got any survival tips for me?” he mumbles lowly.
“...Oh! I know, just go over there and kiss hi–her–stupid!” Eddie snorts through his nose, her parents must still be nearby.
“Got it, I’ll try that. Thanks Birdie…for everything.”
She sighs in relief. “You’re welcome, Doofus.”
Eddie slowly hangs up the phone, and turns to where Steve is. Now stationary, he’s got one hand on his hip, and the other is rifling through his hair nervously.
‘Yep. Buckley’s right.’
Eddie takes a deep breath and crosses to Steve in three short strides, grabs his face in both his hands, and kisses him deeply.
Steve responds immediately; he wraps one arm around Eddie’s waist, his large palm centered squarely on his lower back, and one around his arm, lacing his fingers into Eddie’s curls and cupping the back of his head.
Steve pulls their bodies flush and cants his hips into Eddie’s, tugs a breathy moan from Eddie’s throat when the hand in his curls tightens.
Eddie’s nose is pressed uncomfortably into the space between Steve’s nose and cheekbone with how close they’ve smushed themselves together, but Eddie can’t find it in himself to care.
He’s kissing Steve Harrington.
There’s a strong thigh slotted between his, and Steve Harrington is kissing him back.
Eddie moves one hand down to clutch at Steve’s shirt, and pushes the other back, grabbing onto those short hairs on the back of Steve’s neck.
They finally come up for air after one too many teeth clashes, their foreheads coming together.
“Hi.” they breathe out at the same time, chuckling at the absurdity of it all.
“We’re kinda idiots, huh?” Steve says, looking cross-eyed between Eddie’s eyes. The hazel of his eyes sparkling with the movement.
Eddie chuckles. “Dingus and Doofus, remember?” he points to each of them in turn, only lifting his pointer finger out of the grip on Steve’s shirt to do so.
“Can I play you the last song now?”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
and then they low dance in eddie's living room
Yay!! that's it, thanks for following along with this one!!! here's the last tags :o) @hellomynameismoo, @messrs-weasley, @manda-panda-monium
Here's some notes since it's the last part:
this is the most I’ve ever written in such a short time, I literally wrote each of these chapters the day before their day to be posted….most of it while at work lmao
Steve used a Sony C60 tape. i.e. there’s 60-ish minutes of space on it. before At Last, the songs on the tape totaled 55 min 55 seconds, a perfect amount left for Etta James (ending up at 58 min 54 seconds in total according to my spoofy playlist).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I know that the Eddie half of songs weren’t really…’Eddie music’, but in my head, Eddie likes music for being music. All music is good (like he said to Max in part 5). Plus, he wanted to put songs on the tape that he knew Steve would like/want to listen to.
steve asked nancy to make revisions on his nursing school application essay (he found he quite liked the process of taking care of eddie and wants to go to school for it!)
anyone else just recently realize that Take Me Home Tonight had an allusion to Be My Baby?? anyway, love that, wanted to make that a thing here :o)
and lastly, a couple of little things i LOVED about this fic that i didn’t see anyone else / only a couple people point out:
Steve singing the rubber duckie song to Eddie in part 5
Eddie literally giving Gareth the shirt off his back in part 2 when Tommy threw his pop on him (in my head, this is the same red buffalo check flannel that Gareth ends up cutting the sleeves off of and wears in S4).
that's all!! thanks for reading, friends :o)

What Did I Know? ~ S.H
Tumblr media
@its-quinns-bread asked:
Hello babe
Got an idea for angst😩 Steve and reader being together but he's cheating on her with Nancy. Eddie is Steve's best friend but has a huge crush on reader and just try to warn her abt them but she won't listen(she already knows). So one day Steve decides to tell her and break up while Nancy is there. As he's about to talk the reader interrupts him by grabbing Eddie's vest and kisses him all tongue and teeth. Steve immediately forgets about the break up and freezes. It takes him like minutes to understand what happened at the moment before the reader say "i dump you" and walk out with Eddie following behind like a lost puppy, smirking at his ex best friend.
That hurt him way too much than he thought and he can't accept the fact that the reader left him and his bestie betrayed him. Then he realizes that he actually loves the reader, he was just blind by excitement with Nancy.
Give him pain
Angst
@harringtons-cupid @haileighboi @pleasantlycrazyworld @clovermunson @moonchildquinn. @ceriseheaven @glamourpearlsandpolkadots @hawkins-high86 @cinemaquinn @woahlifehitsyahuh
You know it shouldn't bother you from the way he walks in the house smelling like her, the way he doesn't look at you the way he used, he would never talk to you the way you two used to, he would always leave a small peck on your cheek and give you one of those looks. Those looks don't work on you anymore. You know things have changed. You know he's acting different. You know he doesn't love you anymore. You know. You know he goes to see her. You know when he's not with you, he's with her.
Your heart aches knowing she was the one who got to kiss him the way you used to kiss him. You know she is the one who gets to be held in his arms. You know she is the one who he's fallen for, it was her all along.
You were never the option to him. Steve doesn't think about any of it. He throws you a guilty look when your not looking, and it hurts him that he has to do this to you. But he can't seem to have that feeling he seem to lost when he's around you.
The kisses don't feel the same anymore, the hugs aren't filled with warm as they used to. The looks aren't longing and there isn't any happiness between the two of you.
" Hey" he greets you, making his way over to you and wraps his arms around you. The hug is distance and unwanted. Your arm loosely wrap themselves around his neck as your nose picks up her scent on him. He's been with her while he told you he was at work. You bite your tongue already knowing where he was going. Robin didn't need to lie for him anymore.
You just knew.
" Hey" you greet him with a fake smile as he looks down at you once he pulls away from you from the hug. His hair is out of place than usual. She must of had ran her fingers through his hair. You used to love doing it and now you'd do only a strand if he laid his head in your lap or on your chest while he slept.
He steps back observing you. He takes notice the bags underneath your eyes and there is a hint of puffiness underneath there, there is a deep frown on your face too. It seems like he was looking at a different person.
Panic rises inside of him as he try to rack his brain if you had found out what's been doing. He doesn't want to keep hurting you like this anymore. You deserve better and he knew that. You knew that.
Things weren't good between the both of you and it was time to close the chapter.
-
You sat on the bleachers of the school, doodling into your notebook with one hand while the other supported your head as you tried to keep your mind occupied. Eddie has been staring at you a little bit ahead as he noticed you weren't in lunch today or the day before. He grew worried that something was going on.
" You're not cold up there?" a voice broke you out of your thoughts as you stopped drawing in your notebook and rose your head to look at who was talking. The edges of your lips lit up a little seeing your best friend making his way up the silver bleachers and settling down next to you.
" I'm fine, Eds" you tell him going back to doodling in your notebook. Eddie remained silent as he looks down at what you were sketching. You were quite an artist when you wanted to be. You'd sometimes help Eddie with his figurines for Hellfire.
There was something bothering Eddie that he couldn't just tell you out in the open. His mouth ran dry when his thoughts took over to what he saw this morning. He had saw Steve drop Robin off at the school but in the back, it wasn't you that came out of the car. It was Nancy Wheeler.
His mouth dropped opened at the sight he saw next. Steve had gotten out of his car and walked around the car as he pulled Nancy close to him and planted one on her. His lips were on hers. Eddie couldn't believe his best friend was cheating. His eyes rose to take a look at your face or whatever he could see, you thought you deserve better than Steve Harrington of all people.
Deep down, Eddie was into you more than he thought he would. He looked over at you seeing the way you were focusing on what you were trying to draw.
" Nothing is bothering you, are you sure your okay?" Eddie thought that maybe, just maybe you one what was going on and that he didn't need to tell you what he saw. He couldn't watch your heart break. He wanted nothing more than to throw Steve across the parking lot and kick him around.
" No, is something bothering you?" you closed your notebook in your lap and laid your pencil on top as you turned your head to focus on him. Eddie averted your gaze when you turned to look at him. It was like something was on his mind and he didn't really want to tell you. But his eyes, they held a different story.
" Eds" you placed your hand on top of his with your eyebrows scrunched together. " You know you can talk to me about anything, right?" He nodded. He felt like his heart would explode any minute now with just your hand on top of his.
"I-I.." he couldn't form the words in his mouth. This was really hard to tell you. He didn't want to see the heart break in your face and in your eyes. It would break his. He can't stand you getting hurt. You didn't deserve it.
" Spit it out" you encouraged him, trying to meet his eyes as he looked down at his lap becoming more nervous as the words were just on the tip of the tongue. But yet, he couldn't tell you. His palm began to sweat and he kept brushing them against the leg of his pants.
This was unfair to you.
" If you-" you were cut off by Eddie forming the words and finally telling you what he saw this morning.
" This morning, I saw Steve drop Robin off like he usually does and I thought you were in the back seat of his car" he swallowed the lump on his throat, averting his gaze from you still as he continued, " and in the back came out Nancy. Nancy Wheeler" he says. " She was there for some reason" he shrugged.
There is a long silence between the two of you and it was killing Eddie every minute from not hearing a word coming out from you.
" I know" you finally spoke the words that caught his attention as he his head turned to you, wide eyed as he gasped. He shifts around that he's facing you as he takes a hold of both your hands.
" You know? What do you mean?" you shrugged averting your gaze from him as your eyes gloss over. " I have known for awhile, Eddie. He's different and I have picked up on the signs."
His heart breaks in two hearing the hurt in your voice. It kills him to see you like this. He wants nothing more than to hold you, which he does as he pulls you into his arms.
" I'm so sorry, sweetheart. You don't deserve any of that" you nodded into his shoulder. Eddie could feel the tears staining his shirt, but he doesn't care. He cares more that your hurting and he can't do anything about it.
" Do you want me to talk to him?" he asks as an offer. You pulled away wiping your eyes with the back of your sleeves of your long sleeve shirt. " No, it's okay."
" Do you want to go home?" he asks, " I can drive you" you nodded putting your notebook into your backpack as you grab the straps but Eddie beats you to it as he grabs it.
" You don't have to" Eddie shook his head, shrugging off his jacket placing it around your shoulder. His scent fills you with warmth causing you to stop crying as you walk with his help down the bleachers onto the ground.
" Thank you" you tell him. His eyebrows scrunch together underneath his bangs in confusion. " For what?"
" For being here for me, you know? Just being my friend" as more than those words hurt him, he wanted make sure you were okay getting home. You walked with him to the van as he helped you into the passenger seat.
You were just glad to have Eddie by your side to look after you.
-
Steve has been pacing his living room and running his hand through his hair as he tries to come with a way he was going to end things with you. Nancy sat on the couch in the living room, playing with her hands as she watched him pace back and forth. He could be drilling a hole in the floor from the way he was walking back and forth.
" Would you stop already?" Nancy speaks up as Steve halt in his steps. He turns to face her. " She's going to hate me, she's never going to want to see my face ever again" he says.
" Well, you did cheat on her with me" Nancy states like it's obvious thing. " I know, I just.. she's really is the sweetest thing" he says to her as she settles down on the couch next to her.
She sends him a soft smile, " I'm sure it will be okay" she reassures him. Deep down Steve doesn't know how you'll take it honestly, lately things between the two of you have been so stiff.
There is a knock on the door, three times. It was a way to tell Steve that it was you knocking on the door. His heart races and all the feeling in his fingers lose contact as his head snaps towards the door.
" She's here" he says, swallowing the lump in his throat as he stand up and wipes his hands on his pants. " Take a deep breathe" Nancy tells him as Steve takes a couple as he makes his way to the door. What he didn't expect was for you to show up with Eddie by your side.
Eddie casts him a looks that is unreadable following you inside. You don't even look at Steve feeling that something was off. As you turned. to the living room, you freeze in your spot spotting Nancy on the couch. You cast a look at Eddie as he gives you are you okay look as his hand falls to the small of your back as he rubs it in comfort.
Your head turns back to look towards Nancy as she waves to you with a small smile.
" Hi, Eddie. Y/N" she says. Steve walks back in the living room swaying back and forth on the balls of his feet with his hands behind his back as he tries to find the words to tell you. He doesn't mind that Eddie is there, but yet he the words are just on the tip of his tongue.
" I have something I want to talk to you about " Steve says. He doesn't look you in the eye and instead looks at the ground like he has never seen it before in his life.
" Okay" you nodded, waiting for him to speak. Eddie kinda has the feeling on what this conversation is about but doesn't leave your side as his hand still lingers on your back in comfort. You were glad he was there with you.
" I know things haven't been the best between us" he continues, he can't really put it all at once. You take notice of the way he is trying to say it out loud and in his own way.
" Hold on a moment" you tell him. Steve's head snaps up in confusion but he nods letting you know that he was waiting. You turned to face Eddie as he tilts his head in confusion.
" What are you-" he doesn't get to finish his sentence as his eyes go wide feeling your mouth on him. It's not a gentle soft kiss either. It's more with teeth and tongue. It surprises not only Eddie who still in shock that you were on him like this. But Steve's mouth drops open at the sight of you kissing his best friend.
His heart feels like someone ran over it over and over again until it was no longer in a whole piece. His eyes brim with tears as they run down his cheeks. Eddie's eyes closes as he kisses you back with the intensity as his hands falls to your waist, pulling you into him.
Nancy is shocked herself what is going on but more importantly how it's affecting Steve. Steve couldn't form words as his mouth opened and closed like a fish. Eddie pulls away from you casting a look towards Steve to see the heart break look on his face.
You turn to look at your now ex boyfriend, Steve who's in shock and heart broken at what just happened. " I dump you" your words grab his attention as his eyes turn to you.
" Y-you c-cant" he mumbles through his tears but you weren't listening as you grabbed onto Eddie's wrist and pulling him out the front door leaving a heart broken Steve Harrington to be comforted by Nancy.
Eddie couldn't stop smirking at the sight of Steve as he left. He didn't really feel bad about his best friend. It was his fault he let a great girl like you slip through his fingers.
He hoped that Steve was happy with Nancy now. That's what he wanted after all.
-
Steve can't shake the fact that you broke up with him to be with his best friend. His best friend out of all the people. He could feel the sting in his heart from the betrayal from Eddie. But he now knows what real heart break feels like, the scene repeats in his head the way you grabbed onto Eddie and kissed him.
Had you knew all along that he was cheating on you with Nancy? Did you do that out or revenge? Did you like Eddie at all?
His answers are answered when Dustin informs him that you knew all long he was with Nancy. How much he tried to cover it up, it didn't matter. You knew. You didn't do out of revenge, maybe a little but you realized there was one person all along that was right in front of you that loved. you and adored you.
Eddie.
He made you more happier than Steve ever did. He was the one you wanted to be with and Eddie was more than happy to be yours.
You stood outside of Benny's just as a familiar BMW pulled up, Steve had taken noticed of you standing there with a bag of food in your hands. You are waiting for Eddie, he had to be back to help Wayne with something before he told you he would come back to get you.
He steps out of his car and his hair didn't look like it used to. It didn't have that Harrington hair anymore, it looked more greasy than usual. His eyes had bags underneath them and they were red from the looks of it. His lips were in a deep frown as he turned to face you with a wrinkled long sleeve on with a pair of sweats that looked to have stains on them.
" Steve?" you asked overlooking his appearance. He halt in front of you with the keys in his hands. " Did you ever love me?" he asks. You snorted out before answering him, " I used to love you Harrington, but I should be asking you that."
" I did love you, it took to realize that I always did after you ended things with me and since then I regret letting you walk out my door that day" he says.
You nod, " well if we didn't end things then I wouldn't of been the happiest I have ever been" those words hurt him with a slice to his heart.
He nods, " Happy for you."
" Thank you" there is silence between the two of you before a van pulls up. Eddie parks it right in the back of Steve with a few inches away and quickly get out of the car. His fist to his side and jaw set seeing Steve standing there.
" Hi Eds" you greet your boyfriend as he wraps an arm around your shoulder and pulls you to his side. He turns to look at Steve, " Harrington."
" Munson" Steve greets him with a nod. The two never returned as friends after you broke up with Steve. The betrayal hurt Steve more than ever. It was another slice to his heart.
" Is he bothering you, sweetheart?" Eddie asks. You can feel the stiffness coming from him. You put a hand on his chest to grab his attention. He turns to look down at you and all the anger vanishes from him.
" He's not, but let's go home?" you asked. Home you referred to his trailer as you spend most night there with him.
Eddie nodded, taking the bags of food from your hands as he bumps shoulders with Steve.
" See you around, Harrington" He says as he makes his way to the van. You cast one look at Steve, " Take care of yourself" you tell him, sending him a soft smile.
" Thanks, and you too. I hope he treats you better than I ever did" Steve says as he motions to Eddie.
" He does" those were the last words you said to Steve as you walk past him to the van and getting into the passenger seat. Steve watches as Eddie leans over to kiss you and looks back at him with a smirk.
Steve hangs his head as he felt his heart crash to the floor. You were happy without him. You didn't need him. You didn't want him.
He was going to regret what he did to you for the rest of his life.

“Steve, get off!” Eddie whined.
“No! I wanna feel her move!”
“Jesus Christ.”
Eddie reclined back in his bundle of pillows on the armrest of the couch as Steve rested his head on Eddie’s baby bump. While Eddie had only felt the flutters a few times (and barely, at that), Steve was determined to feel the baby move. Eddie insisted that he wouldn’t be able to, but Steve was never one to shy away from a challenge.
“Are you gonna stay there forever, Steven?” Eddie teased.
“Mhmm,” he smiled, hugging himself closer to his partner.
“You’re not gonna feel her. I barely feel her, for Christ’s sake.”
“Don’t care.”
“Well, I have to pee, so you’re gonna have to move soon.”
“What if I just move to the bathroom with you.”
“You’re ridiculous.”
“Well, forgive me, Edward, for showering our unborn child with unconditional love.”
“And you can keep doing that after I pee. Get up.”
“But Eds,” he whined.
“Steven Michael Harrington, for the sake of your child and my bladder, get off.”
“Fine,” he sighed, sitting up on the couch.
“Christ almighty, thank you.”
Eddie swung his legs off the couch as made his way to the bathroom. While the baby was still unbelievably tiny, she had no problem abusing Eddie’s bladder.
“God, she’s gonna be the death of me,” Eddie sighed.
“You’re nearly halfway there, though.”
“I’m barely fifteen weeks, Stevie.”
“Yeah, nearly halfway!”
“I wish I had your optimism.”
“Oh, come on, it’s not that bad.”
“Says the one who can still drink and smoke.”
“You’re right, sorry, sorry…”
Eddie sat back on the couch with a sigh, falling onto Steve’s lap. He began pushing his hair back as Eddie got cozy underneath a blanket. The couple sat in content silence before Steve heard Eddie sniffling.
“You okay, Eds?”
“What if she doesn’t love me?” he whispered.
“Where’d that come from?” Steve asked.
“What if I don’t love her?”
“That’s ridiculous.”
“Is it, though? Parents don’t love their kids all the time… I know that… and so do you, Steve.”
“But we’re not our parents, Ed. We’re going to love our little girl more than life itself.”
“You’re right… I’m sorry. I hate myself for even thinking of it.”
“Stop it…”
“What?”
“Do you even realize what you’re doing? Like, genuinely?”
“What do you mean?”
“Ed, you’re growing a person inside you. Like an entire human being. You’re giving up your body for our little girl to be here. You’re making such a huge mental sacrifice doing this. I know I sure as shit could never do what you’re doing. You need to go easy on yourself and realize all that you’re doing, Eddie. Okay? I get it, your hormones are all over the place, your brain is mush, and I don’t even know how you haven’t fallen into a complete pit of despair with your gender dysphoria.”
“Trust me, I’m getting there.”
“Point is: go easy on yourself, okay? You’re doing something most people couldn’t, alright? But you’re doing it, Ed. It’s okay to overthink. It’s okay to feel shitty now and then. But at the end of the day, you’re going to be the best dad this world has ever seen.” Eddie scoffed. “I mean it… and you know you can come to me if you’re struggling. This isn’t easy and you shouldn’t feel like you have to go at it alone. I’m here for you. I always will be.”
“You promise?”
“I swear.”
A few weeks passed and Eddie’s mood swings were still all over the place. Steve consoled him without complaint every single time and Eddie could not have been more grateful. Eventually, by the skin of their teeth, they were preparing for their community college graduation. Steve was getting his associates in advertising and marketing communications as well as social work, while Eddie was getting his in music theory.
The two were showering each other in compliments, seeing each other in graduation attire at the same time. They couldn’t believe they did it. Between becoming engaged, Eddie getting pregnant, and starting to house hunt, they were in disbelief at what they were able to accomplish.
“I’m so proud of you,” Steve whispered as Eddie straighten out his tie.
“Proud of me? Stevie, I’m proud of you. You’ve dealt and put up with all my shit. I can’t imagine the weight on your shoulders.”
“Ed, you can’t be serious.”
“Well, I am.”
“It’s not a big deal for me to help and support you. I love being able to do that for you. You’re the one that’s pregnant. You’re the one that’s struggled with school your whole life. To see you come this far… it truly leaves me speechless.”
“I love you…”
“I love you too, Eds. I also love seeing your little bump in your graduation gown.”
“Thanks. I think she looks cute in there.”
“She definitely does.”
“So you really think we’re having a girl?” Eddie asked.
“I do. I don’t think I was meant to have any sons.”
“Why do you say that?”
“I don’t know. I just don’t think they’d ever be able to compare to Dustin. It wouldn’t be fair.”
“Oh, please, you would love them regardless.”
“Yeah, but I feel like I’d love a little girl even more.”
“You’re gonna be a great dad no matter what we have.”
“Thanks, Ed.”
“Of course. Let’s get going, Robin and Wayne and waiting for us to pick them up.”
After the ceremony, that Steve’s parents couldn’t bother to attend, Wayne wrapped both boys in tight hugs. Each boy got their own bundle of flowers that Wayne had put together with Robin’s help. Robin snapped pictures of everyone throughout the whole day. She figured it was the last milestone for each of them as “single” men.
“So, when’re you’re graduating, Buckley?” Wayne asked.
“I still have another two years at Indiana State, so… two years.”
“Well, we’ll all be there cheering you on when the day comes.”
“Including my little niece,” Robin beamed.
“Why does everyone think it’s a girl,” Eddie chuckled.
“Because, it’s so obvious, you guys are gonna be girl dads.”
“But Munson’s only have boys. Right, Wayne?”
“I don’t know, I think it’s about time we had a girl.”
“Why do you even care? Do you want a boy?” Robin asked.
“Gender is nothing but a social construct. I could care less what we have. I’m just trying to figure out how everyone landed on the ‘Eddie’s having a girl’ train.”
“Wait, if Munson’s only have boys, then how do you explain your dead self?” Steve asked.
“I’m still a boy, aren’t I?”
“Oh, yeah, fair point.”
“Speaking of, Wayne,” Eddie started. “Did you always know I was a boy?”
“I had a feeling,” he shrugged. “You never really seemed like a girl, y’know? Between the way you dressed and carried yourself—none of it was ever really feminine.”
“So you weren’t shocked when I told you?”
“God, no, not at all.”
“Were you?” Eddie nudged Steve.
“A little. To be fair, Wayne has known you your whole life. We had only been dating for six months. It’s kind of different.”
“You were so sweet when I told you,” Eddie gushed.
“Was I really?”
“Absolutely!” Eddie wrapped his arms around Steve’s neck and started playing with the hair at the nape of his neck. “Your first instinct was to tell me you love me and unbind me because my bandage was cutting into me. I hadn’t even noticed anymore, yet it didn’t even phase you. It was better than any reaction I could have–“
“What was that?” Steve interrupted, glancing down.
“The baby kicked.”
“Oh my god…” Steve teared up. “I felt her… I felt her!”
“You can actually feel that? It seems like she’s barely nudging me.”
“I felt her, Eds, and oh my god, it’s amazing.” Steve placed one of his hands on Eddie’s abdomen and started crying. “There’s a baby in there.”
“Yeah, Steve, I’m aware,” Eddie chuckled.
“Our baby… holy shit…”

Hickeys | Eddie Munson x y/n
if you’d like you can reblog my original work, but please don’t post it without credit. if you take inspiration from my ideas please tag me, I’d like to see how someone else would write it
word count: 0.8k
warnings: I guess technically implies sex, hickeys, ?
“Shit! Shitshitshit- babe I’m gonna be late! We didn’t set the alarms!” You said and jumped out of bed, nearly falling flat on your face whilst you tried to put your work uniform on. Your boss was pretty strict about the uniform and being on time and all those things and you had yet to fuck up in the year or so you’d been working there but you would forever be scared as long as you worked there.
“Baby, baby relax. It’ll be alright, just try to be a little more calm and put your pants on correctly” he said, grabbing your shorts and hold them correctly. You rolled your eyes and snatched them from him, finally hoisting them over your hips and running to the bathroom, eyes widening at what you saw.
You groaned and said “god damn it you asshole!” You had 2 hickeys on your neck and one on your collarbone and then 3 on your boobs. Eddie came in and smiled, admiring his work. “I mean, you’re just so beautiful I-”
You threw a roll of toilet paper at him and he yelped slightly, running just in time so he didn’t get hit. You shook your head and worked fast to cover them up, not even bothering to eat breakfast and bringing your hair stuff in the car to do at work.
You got to work at 7:26. You’re supposed to clock in at 7:30. Usually you’re here at least 15 minutes before your shift and you take a little nap in the car but you’d rather be way too early than late. You did your hair as fast you ever will, just brushing it back into a low ponytail and then spraying some hairspray and calling it good.
You rushed to the door at 7:33 and unlocked it, quickly running to the back to wipe everything down and sweep the floors and start making things. “Hey, assholes!” You said to Robin and Steve who walked in half an hour late.
They gave you awkward smiles and you threw aprons at them. They worked at the diner with you as well, so you would always punch them in even when they were late. “I hate you guys! God, what would you even do without me?” You said and they both ran over and hugged you.
“Best coworker everrrr!” Robin said and groaned, shrugging them off. You sighed and said “go wash the dishes. And you, brew some coffee and start on some pies” “no problemo” Steve said and you rolled your eyes.
You shook your head and said “can you guys please come on time tomorrow?” “Okay fine” Steve said and you sighed. You bent over to grab some menus and other things to set up a little and Robin gasped.
Your shorts had ridden up a little, revealing a dark ass hickey on your lower ass cheek. “What? Shit, am I on my period?” You asked and Robin chuckled. Steve looked over and his eyes widened. “Holy shit,”
“Hey! Stop looking at her ass!” Robin said and you gasped. You stood up fast and said “what’s wrong with my ass?” “Dude, you have a huge and dark ass hickey on your ass” Robin said and you groaned.
“Cause my stupid ass boyfriend doesn’t listen!” You said, rushing to the bathroom. You barely had time to cover it before a customer walked in and you were terrified there were more you hadn’t found yet.
Eddie always came on his lunch break since he now owned his mechanic shop and so generously gives himself hour long lunch breaks. Of course, he knows it’s unfair to only give employees 30 minute lunch breaks so he doesn’t really mind when they’re late, only when they’re over 45 minutes late does he get upset.
“Hey, cutie. How long you been working here, I don’t think I’ve seen you before” he said, he always flirted like you haven’t been together for years. You sighed and said “I have hickeys in places that I need to not have hickeys in, Eddie. I told you nothing permanent or harsh, and now I have at least 7 hickeys that I know of”
“Hey, you did your fair share of work too, princess,” he said, pulling his collar down to reveal a few hickeys, but at least his were small and light and would probably be gone in a day or two. Yours would surely last a week, probably longer.
You sighed and said “can we please agree no more hickeys unless they’re in easily hideable places” “fine. Just stop being so sexy though” he said and you chuckled. You finally walked over and kissed him, setting down the burger, fries and milkshake you already had made for him.
“You’re so lucky I love you” you said and he smiled. He blushed a little and said “yea, I know. It’s what keeps me going everyday, baby” You blushed as well and kissed his head, leaving to seat the customers that just walked in.
He smiled, watching you and admiring you. He noticed one peaking through your shirt on the back of your neck and winced. He sighed and whispered “that makes 8” and chuckled to himself. Boy, you were gonna kill him.

It’s been four weeks since Jessie broke up with Billy. The transition for Ben had been hard at first with many tears involved and a few sleepless nights. Thankfully Steve was around to help his son during this transition. If anything this made Ben and Steve have a closer bond. Jessie loved seeing them interact with each other and hearing their laughter fill the room. There was no denying Ben was close with his dad.
Now that August rolled in that meant school was back in session. Steve insisted on driving Ben to his elementary school to make up for lost time. This would give Jessie time to shower and eat before heading to work with Clint following her on his bike to make sure she was safe. Jessie would work an easy nine to two pm shift so she could get Ben in the afternoons. Then they would head home so Ben could get a snack and play.
On the weekend the biker club would get together to have fun. Even Winnie, who was everyone’s favorite, would go to cookouts just to spend time with what was known as family time. It was always a blast seeing everyone for Jessie. These were the moments she missed when she ended up with Billy. Now that she was single she got to spend time with everyone including Steve who was still living in her spare room. She often wondered what it would be like to get back with him. Could they build a future together? She snapped out of her thoughts and watched as Ben ran around the front yard with Steve. The little boy would squeal in delight as his dad caught him, picked him up, and swung him in a circle. Steve was exactly how she pictured he would be with their son.
Steve put Ben back on the ground and the little boy ran to his mamaw for snuggles. This gave Steve the opening he was looking for. He walked over to Jessie and smiled. “Can I talk with you in private?”
Jessie nodded her head and took the hand Steve offered. Their friends were whistling as they walked to Bucky’s garage and a yell of “you better not do what I’m thinking” came from Bucky. Steve laughed as he put his hands up assuring his friend it was innocent. Jessie and Steve walked into the garage in silence.
“So, what did you want to talk about?” Jessie asked cautiously. A part of her was nervous as he had sounded serious.
“It’s nothing bad I swear. I was just thinking that we have been spending so much time together that I was wondering if you want, maybe we could start dating again. I know the breakup with Billy was difficult but we have a past that I thought we could explore again. What do you say?” Steve was nervous that she wouldn’t be ready yet but he was ready to try and fix things for his little family.
Jessie briefly pondered what Steve said and in her mind, it was a no-brainer. “Yes, I would really like to try this again with you.” Steve grinned and scooped her up into a huge hug and kissed her with such passion it made her toes curl. Steve put Jessie back down and they walked hand in hand to tell their family the good news. Everyone congratulated them and wished them the happiness they truly deserved.
Bucky hugged Steve and spoke threateningly, “Break my sister's heart again and I will end you punk.”
Steve chuckled, “Not gonna happen Jerk. This time it’s forever.”
Winnie was in tears as she hugged her daughter telling her “everything is now the way it was meant to be.” The night went on with everyone talking and eating. Life couldn’t have been more perfect than it was now. This is what life should have always been like from the beginning. They were finally a family unit now. Ben had stability, Jessie felt safe again and Steve was happy to get his family back.

Sunday mornings were made for cuddle times with Jessie and Ben. Ben would come into her room around seven A.M. and crawl into the bed with his teddy bear all sleepy. Ben would then snuggle with his mama while she slept.
An hour later Steve was up and heading to where he would find his family. Steve walked into Jessie’s room and watched as Jessie and Ben both slept peacefully. He smiled big as he made his way into the room. Looking at the empty opposite side of the bed Steve couldn’t help but crawl under the covers. This moment with his son and Jessie would forever stay in his mind forever.
A half-hour passed and Jessie started to stir in her sleep. As she slowly opened her eyes she saw Ben cuddled next to her as he held his teddy bear.  As her eyes drifted behind him she smiled bigger seeing Steve laying on his side looking at her.
“Good morning Steve.”
“Good morning my love.”
Jessie couldn’t help but feel her face heat up over the nickname. “How long have you been here?”
Steve grinned. “Just long enough to watch you sleep a little. I couldn’t help myself, you both looked so peaceful that I had to join you.”
“You’re always welcome to join us. Little man here has been doing this since he could walk.”
“Shhhhh, mama I’m trying to sleep.” Ben gave a whine from being disturbed.
“Ben, did you see Daddy joined snuggle time?”
Slowly Ben opened his eyes and turned over to face Steve. Grabbing his bear, Ben buried himself against Steve. Jessie couldn’t help but giggle at the way their son was already back asleep and cuddled against Steve.
After another hour of sleeping in, everyone got out of bed and changed for the day. Jessie announced they were going to Mamaw’s home for breakfast as usual. Ben was cheering as he ran through the house. Once they were ready they piled into the truck and headed over to Winnie’s home.
Once they arrived they were greeted by Winnie who stood on the porch. As usual, Ben screamed her name and ran over to her. Jessie and Steve laughed at their son who was already in Winnie’s arms and asking about breakfast. Within minutes Bucky and Nat were pulling up on his Harley Davidson. Sunday breakfast was a tradition now for the Barnes family to get together and enjoy their time together.
Nat hopped off the bike, followed by Bucky and the four of them walked into the house together. By the time everyone hugged and started to sit down to eat Jessie noticed a ring on Nat's left hand.
Jessie softly smiled. “So Nat want to tell us about that ring?”
Everyone looked between Bucky who was grinning and Nat who blushed. “Well Jessie, everyone, Bucky proposed last night. Obviously, I said yes.” She held up her hand to show everyone. Winnie was up out of her seat and hugged Nat. Jessie got out of her chair to hug her best friend next while Steve and Bucky hugged.
“What can I say? I'm in love with the fiery redhead who has a heart of gold.” Bucky declared as Nat gave him a side-eye.
The rest of the morning was spent eating and talking about the upcoming wedding. Nat and Bucky both agreed they didn’t want to wait another year so the plan was for next month. Talks of venue and dresses had Jessie thinking about when she was engaged to Steve. If everything had gone to plan they would have been married five years now. She looked at her left hand which was bare and glanced at Steve who was staring at her. His blue eyes said everything she felt. What if?
As it approached the afternoon Bucky and Nat left to go for a Sunday drive. Winnie offered to watch Ben so Jessie and Steve could have the night together. They agreed and drove back to the house to get his Harley. Once they got home they were off riding to a destination unknown. With the wind in their face and the sun at their backs, it didn’t matter where they went as long as they were together.
By midafternoon Steve stopped for gas at the gas station on the edge of town. While filling his tank he heard another motorcycle leaving their town. He watched as the bike drove out of sight. Steve thought he recognized the man but he wasn’t sure. Could it be the biker gang Hydra from the next town over? Topping the tank off Steve took this as a sign to head back into town.

Later on, they headed to the bar to meet up with their friends. As they walked in they were met by Bucky, Nat, Tony, Thor, Clint, Sam, Wanda, Peter, Loki, Pietro, and Rhodey. There was a new woman there sitting next to Thor who they never met before. Going up to the group everyone greeted the couple and made room for them at the table. Thor was the first to speak.
“Steve, Jessie, I would like you to meet Jane. She is a science teacher at the high school in town. We’ve been dating for a little while quietly so I decided now was the time to introduce her to everyone.”
Jessie smiled softly at the couple. It was about time Thor found love again. “It’s very nice to meet you, Jane.”
Steve grinned at the couple. “It’s a pleasure Jane to meet you.”
“Thank you both. I’ve heard so much about you and everyone else. I’m so happy to meet you all finally.”
“Hope it was all good,” Tony replied.
Thor rolled his eyes. “Of course it was. Except for you Tony.” Tony made a shocked face as everyone started to laugh.
The day turned to night and everyone was having a great time. Club business was briefly brought up about making Peter a prospect since he turned twenty-one. All nine men voted it through and Bucky stood up giving Peter his prospect cut. Everyone cheered and whistled for him, congratulating him on taking the step to join.
It was now ten o’clock at night when the bar was picking up with customers and the club decided to part ways for the evening. Sam and Wanda worked the bar as everyone started to walk outside. As the men started getting on their bikes Steve pulled Bucky aside.
“Hey, when Jessie and I stopped for gas earlier today I saw a biker leaving town. I could have sworn it was Jack Rollins but I’m not 100% sure. We need to continue to keep one of our men on Jessie at all times just in case trouble is starting.”
“No worries Punk, no one will get close to my sister without us knowing. I will talk with the guys about this tomorrow. If it is Jack I would say he is up to no good.”
“That’s what I’m afraid of.” Both men shook hands and waved goodbye.
Steve got on his bike and waited for Jessie to hop on. Deciding to leave Ben at Winnie’s for the night the duo returned home to the house.

Once home the pair got themselves changed for bed and parted ways for the night. Jessie tossed and turned for an hour in her bed. A part of her wanted Steve in her bed to hold until she fell asleep. Memories danced in her head of them years ago of making love with one another. Her hand slowly drifted to her breasts as she lightly played with her nipples. Soft pinches had her breath hitching.
The bedroom door creaked open and she instantly stopped when she saw Steve’s silhouette in the doorway. He was standing shirtless and in a pair of sweatpants. His tattoos littered his chest and down his arms, they made her lick her lips in excitement. Who knew his tattoos would make her weak in her knees?
“Steve?” she quietly asked. Her eyes roamed down his body taking in every muscle that flexed.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t sleep and I was thinking of you. Your soft curves and warm skin against me.” He entered her room closing the door behind him and slowly walked to her side of the bed. Jessie sat up, her heart was beating faster in excitement.
“I want you, Steve,” she whined.
“Oh yeah? How bad?” He questioned.
“Let me show you,” she stated. Her hands wandered from his chest and then down his stomach until she reached his pants. She pulled his pants down over his slim waist until they dropped to the floor leaving him naked in front of her. Steve kicked his pants away while Jessie climbed off her bed and knelt in front of him. Her hand wrapped around his cock and she slowly started to kitten lick his slit. Steve let out a groan as her lips wrapped around the tip and she swirled her tongue around him. Taking him fully into her mouth Jessie slowly started to bob her head up and down on his cock as her hands lightly fondled his sack making him shudder from the pleasure she gave. Steve’s hands ran through her hair and he fisted his right hand in it as he tried to ground himself. With every up and down motion of her head, Steve let out groan after groan as he tried to hold himself back. Jessie then took him all the way to the back of her throat and slightly gagged around him. He could feel himself getting closer and closer to his release the more she bobbed her head, so he gently pulled her off his cock gasping out, “As tempting as it is to cum down your throat I would rather cum deep inside you.”
Jessie smiled up at him. “I’m desperate for you. All I dream of is being with you. Make love to me, please.” Jessie all but whined out the last word. Steve helped her stand before him as he grinned at her.
“God do I love to hear you beg for me.” Their lips clashed together as they fought for dominance. Steve quickly stripped Jessie of her tank top. Little moans escaped her lips as his mouth took a nipple into it and he nipped at it lightly. They both fell to the bed as hands were caressing one another.
Steve’s hard cock ground against her clothed core. He rubbed himself back and forth a few times as they moaned in pleasure. It took all his strength to pull away briefly so he could pull her shorts off and throw them over his shoulder. He started to kiss his way down her body to her wet pussy.
Once he reached his destination Steve slowly started to lick his way through her lips before he started to feast on her. Jessie arched her back in pleasure as her moans started to build. This was always one of her favorite things Steve did in the bedroom. Every time he dipped his tongue into her pussy Jessie would gasp and shutter. Steve moved his attention to her clit, sucking it lightly as he pushed two fingers into her core. The combination of his tongue and fingers had her already cumming as he rubbed against the spongey wall inside her, moaning Steve’s name to the heavens. He continued to eat her out until he pulled a second orgasm from her. Jessie mewled and shook in pleasure as her hands fisted in the bed sheet.
“Just as good as I remembered,” Steve growled out as he licked his lips of her slick and repositioned himself. He was now caging her into the bed as he smiled down at her.
“I need you, Steve,” Jessie begged as she watched him lower his body over hers.
Steve slowly stroked his long, thick cock a few times before slowly burying himself into her. They both groaned as he rocked his hips back and forth. Steve couldn’t believe this was finally happening after all these years apart. He had dreamt a lot of being inside her sweet cunt and bringing her nothing but pleasure. He would do whatever she asked of him and more.
Jessie wrapped her legs around his waist and rolled her hips every time he thrusted into her. Her nails dug into his shoulders as they made love to one another. She chanted his name like a sweet melody to his ears.
Steve knew he wasn’t going to last long since it’s been years since they had sex. Stopping briefly Steve rolled to his back and let Jessie ride him. She looked so beautiful in his eyes, hands on his chest, head thrown back as she moaned over and over with every bounce on his cock. He reached up to grab her by the neck and brought her face to his so they could kiss.
“I’m so-so close Stevie.” She panted out.
He reached in between them and started rubbing her clit with his other hand. “Cum for me. Don’t hold back and let go.” Steve whispered huskily in her ear.
Jessie came hard moaning his name as her walls were tightening around his thick cock. This triggered Steve to cum deep inside her, painting her walls and womb white. Jessie collapsed against his chest and Steve held her tightly.
“God, I love you, Jessie,” He confessed.
She smirked big. “You’re just saying that 'cause I rode your cock.”
They both started laughing at her response. “I mean it, you're my everything. I can’t picture my life without you in it. Say you will always be mine.”
“I’m yours Steve now and forever. Ain't nothing gonna change it.”
Jessie gently slid off him to go to the bathroom to clean up. Once she was done Steve watched as she strolled out naked, her hips swaying back and forth before she climbed into bed.
Steve was starting to get hard again. “I’m not through with you just yet darling. Tonight we make love until sunrise.”
