Help, i fell down a Marvel rabbit hole.

So the Endgame dilemma with Steve's decision had me thinking about other 'happy places' for Bucky and of course there's the obvious with Sam after TFWS but can we just for a minute think about Bucky maybe refreshing something nice from his time in recovery in Wakanda?

I found not a lot of fics but the thought of Bucky getting back there and kinda warming up with M'Baku again? This pairing just has something to me, especially with the whole grumpy but secretly subby White Wolf meets sarcastic domineering great Gorilla M'Baku...

All good options, all good options, but I will say, anon, I welcome you to fully embrace the exhilarating option of: completely ignoring the events of Endgame.

As captivating as the idea of subby white wolf and domineering gorilla M'Baku is 😮‍💨... as much as I love all the ship content that has come out of Sebastian's and Mackie's banter as Bucky and Sam... I am weak for stucky. It's 🤌🏻everything about them🤌🏻 The childhood best friends to lovers, the wartime sweethearts, the going against the whole world for each other, the dying for each other, the living for each other.

Okay, so I'm laying my cards fully on the table to say that I hate Endgame, explaining why I like to ignore it. That Steve & Nat gifset makes me wish that the CA:3 movie has been them + Sam and Sharon searching for Bucky. I miss that quad 😭

can u believe that these are the only two instances in the entire MCU where the cap quartet was in one frame. we were robbed so hard wtf marvel??? why couldn't cap 3 have been about them instead of being avengers 2.5 😭 the potential of actually having a final film centered around steve and his own personal relationships and properly closing out those arcs haunts me!!! every!!! day!!!

There's something wild about the fact that this is actually canon. I love that it comes after Sam saves Bucky from the wheels of a speeding truck and that Bucky holds onto Sam as they roll, trying to protect Sam from the brunt of toppling into that field together at that speed. First, I'm sorry that I didn't indicate the tone well enough. As I'm sure you know this is a website of many neurodivergents. I am one of them, and I also don't English very well, and so I probably could have formatted this better, and made extra sure it didn't come off as negative, that's totally on me. What I would like to say here is (caps for emphasis not emotion): I LIKE BOTH THESE SHIPS. SEPARATELY AND TOGETHER. I AM NOT ANTI SAMBUCKY.

What I was hoping to indicate with the original post was that I think Steve's impact on Bucky (and Sam for that matter) is really important to his character and I prefer moving into new ships when my favorite character actually works through they're issues and not just whatever moral penance he apparently did I'm tfatws that made him all better (that is a whole nother argument so please don't freak out about my supposed hatred of the show. I don't hate it. Chill.). ADDITIONALLY I do not think that Sambucky existing is Steve erasure!!! That second line was actually meant to be humorous, but I can see where that didn't come out. I will add a smiley face so you guys don't think I'm an axe murderer. In reference to that one user *cough* I don't really expect an award for saying I enjoy a ship lol. I was just saying. I enjoy. The ship.

Also it's not super cool to send mildly passive aggressive messages to me in multiple places about wanting me to untag my post (the important time to tell someone how to tag their posts is for tws). Unfortunately you're not the only person in the fandom and I will actually tag however I want.

He Owns the Sky

Summary: Sam gets a new Cap suit and goes on a mission. Bucky is not impressed.

A/N: Saw Sam Wilson in his new Cap suit and had some SamBucky thoughts. Featuring All Star Cast, but focused on SamBucky. Enjoy!

Content: Language, banter, and angst. 

“He is not going to like this, Captain Wilson. You know he’s temperamental at the best of times. Moody, even. Although we are both very fond of him, you know this will make him insufferable.”

“He’s already insufferable, Your Majesty.” Shuri let out an amused giggle at Sam’s assessment. “He’s gonna be more upset at me than he is at you.”

“Oh, that remains to be seen,” Shuri replied with a smile. “Actually, should I be offended, Sam?”

She was teasing, but Sam answered in earnest, “Of course not. Your work is amazing. A certain geriatric’s design sense was a little off, but everything you did was stellar, Shuri. Really great stuff.”

“But things can always be improved, yes?”

“Yes,” said Sam. “Plus, I make an easy target flyin’ around looking like fine ass stars and stripes. Change is good.”

“Change is good,” Shuri repeated. “Now, please let me know if he has a complete meltdown. I have cat memes the likes of which the general public hasn’t seen.”

“Thank you,” Sam said with a warm smile.

“You’re most welcome,” Shuri replied in kind.

The aerial battle was brutal even though it was relatively short. Ironheart was assisting War Machine and the Midnight Angels in offensive strikes. Captain America, Falcon, and Photon were on the defensive, parrying assaults before they got too close to the ground. Their adversaries were one of the Big Three – it was another alien invasion.

Sam was tired, but he kept going. His new suit was standing up to the onslaught. Shuri’s design was immaculate, even better than the last. There was ease of movement that Sam hadn’t had before. Even though he was older now, the suit somehow synced with him in an anticipatory manner and gave him an added edge with speed and acrobatics.

He felt like he owned the sky.

Even when he took a direct hit to the abdomen and fell from said sky, there was no real harm done to his person. Sam and his friends staved off the attack before their backup even arrived. He let Shuri know how the new suit fared as soon as his medical check and debrief was done.

  Sam was in his private changeroom when he heard the unmistakable sound of Bucky Barnes’ footfalls coming his way.

“What the fuck, Sam?”

“Hi, Honey. Welcome home,” Sam replied while not looking up from where he was removing his civilian clothing from his go-bag; he knew Bucky was in a mood.

“What’s this?” Bucky asked, gesturing to Sam’s new, sleek suit.

“My Cap suit, duh,” Sam replied.

“What happened to the other goddamn suit?” asked Bucky with his hands on his hips.

“Nothing, I just got an upgrade.”

“This,” said Bucky, stepping closer and waving his Vibranium arm around. “This is an upgrade? What was Shuri thinking? Letting you out in this. Your arms are all – exposed. And your neck? What the hell? There’s no protection for your neck or your head.”

“Bucky, come on,” said Sam, finally looking up to meet his gaze. “The suit’s amazing. I took a direct hit from some type of blaster and didn’t even feel it.”

“Yeah, I saw that shit.”

“How’d you see that?”

“I heard you guys were called out and I hacked a low-Earth orbit satellite’s transponder,” said Bucky like that was a completely normal thing to do.

Sam looked at Bucky with an incredulous look on his face.

“You’re using secret fuckin’ Thunderbolts tech to hack satellites to spy on me while I work?”

“Yeah, and for good reason,” Bucky replied. “Sue me.”

“You’re gonna lose your secret anti-hero spy gig if you keep this shit up, Buck.”

“Don’t try to change the subject, Samuel.”

Sam let out a sigh.

“The suit’s fine. I’m fine. Can we not do this right now? I know you’re probably feeling some kinda way because I replaced the suit you had designed for me, but –”

“This ain’t about the goddamn suit, Sam,” said Bucky, inching closer and narrowing his gaze. “It’s about you doing reckless hero shit in a team full o’ heroes. Why did you have to draw the enemy fire? You took a fuckin’ hit today. You could’ve – shit. You could’ve. What if you didn’t –”

“Didn’t what?” asked Sam, holding Bucky’s firm gaze.

“What if you didn’t make it, uh? What then? The world’s just ‘sposed to go on without Captain America? I’m supposed to go on without you?”

“Buck, don’t. That’s not the deal.”

“No, Sam. I know we talked about this,” said Bucky, his voice softening as he placed a hand to Sam’s upper arm. “I know we said we’d stay out of each other’s work stuff. That we do what we gotta do, and then come home to each other, but you took a fuckin’ direct hit today in this new suit that hasn’t been real-world-battle-tested and I nearly lost my mind.”

“I’m sorry.”

“It scared me, Sammy. I thought I lost you,” said Bucky, his voice quiet and low.

“Hey,” said Sam, moving closer. “I’m right here, Baby. I’m okay.”

Bucky wrapped his arms around Sam’s waist and drew him into an embrace. Sam placed both hands to the sides of Bucky’s face. They stared at one another for a beat. It was a moment that felt brief but also eternal.

“I’m sorry for pickin’ a fight with you,” said Bucky as he closed his eyes, leaned forward, and rubbed his nose against Sam’s. “When it comes to you and your safety, I lose all my good sense.”

They breathed each other in and let the tension fall away.

“Aww, Baby, be careful. You only had a little bit of good sense to start with,” Sam joked, causing Bucky to laugh as his frustration dissipated as his affection for Sam took over and banished the fear.

“Good point,” Bucky replied, before he kissed Sam’s forehead. “I just love you so much, Dollface.”

“I know, Buck. I love you, too.”

The pair stared into one another’s eyes once more before bringing their lips together in a languid kiss. They stayed that way for a while, kissing and holding one another. Bucky rans his hands over the new suit making sure Sam was really unharmed. After a while, Sam pulled back a little and let Bucky examine the suit better.

“It’s king shit, right?” Sam asked, turning his backside to Bucky while looking over his shoulder. “I look fine as fuck. Look at my ass, Bucky. Look at it. Everyone’s gonna be lookin’ at it in this suit. The internet is gonna break.”

Bucky knit his brow and gave his most annoyed expression.

“Aww,” Sam said, cupping Bucky’s face and pressing a kiss to his nose. “I’m just playin’. They can all look, but you’re the only one who gets to touch.”

“Damn fuckin’ right,” said Bucky as he grabbed Sam’s hips and pulled him in for a searing kiss. “C’mon, let’s get you home and outta that suit. Wanna get my hands on that ass of yours.”
