Just thinking about how some Bumbleby fans insist their ship is superior to ships like Freezerburn and shouldn't be criticized because their ship is canon, and how they'll be like "Bumbleby is canon, Freezerburn never would've happened and you're delusional for thinking it."

A. It's a little like the "people say Rwby is a bad show, but it's actually popular" thing, where it's like, whether or not the ship is canon has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not the ship is good or well written or non-toxic or any of that.

B. I really do think that one reason why people think "mine is canon and yours isn't" is a convincing argument, or like a hurtful thing to say to people who ship a rival ship like Freezerburn or Blacksun is because of the anti-criticism push in the fandom and the villainization of rwde. Saying you want a different ship to be canon is skating really close to saying you think the writers shouldn't have done the thing that they did, after all. And meanwhile, the anti-criticism push in the fandom has resulted in this thing where 'it's canon' is meant to be kind of a last word on things, or 'it's what the writers wanted' or 'here's what the writers want us to think' is used like they're meant to be argument ending and undebatable. Because the fandom at large's anti-rwde expectations means that the writers are always supposed to be right and that the fans are just supposed to accept and like everything that the writers do or say with a smile. Like, the most you're allowed to say without getting labeled 'rwde' and therefore an evil, bad faith horrible person is 'that change wasn't what I personally would've wanted, but it's still great.' People get harassed and sent hate for saying that the writers make mistakes or shouldn't have done something they did. So of course some bees fans think that saying "well Bumbleby is canon and the writers never would've gone with Freezerburn" is going to make people feel badly or is going to make them rethink their own shipping preferences. Of course some bees fans feel better about their ship themselves simply because they can say it's what the writers wanted, so when they see a post about how a different ship had better development they can reassure themselves by sending the person messages telling them "that ship isn't canon and my ship is canon, hahaha."

C. The way the writers talk very much so implies that they're easily swayed by fandom opinion. For example, recently they were talking about Neo and how they essentially killed her off in the end and how they viewed her as irredeemable, but one reason they gave her a more sympathetic end and had her 'bow out' was because a lot of people liked her character a lot. And that isn't a one off occurrence. The writers often talk about how the audience reacts to things and how they've tried to work through audience complaints (badly, but that's a complaint for another post.) So, I'm supposed to believe that bumbleby becoming canon had absolutely nothing at all to do with it being the most popular ship in rwby (and again, popularity doesn't equal quality) and that if Freezerburn hadn't been more popular, they wouldn't have gone with it? I don't believe that. 'Planned from the beginning' or not, the writers carry things out or change things based on the fandom already, so idk why I should exalt bumbleby as the superior ship just because they're canon. Arkos is canon too, that doesn't mean I have to like Arkos or like it more than shipping Jaune with Ren and Nora or shipping Jaune with Neptune. Renora is canon too, that doesn't mean it's inherently superior to Sugar Rush and that there's nothing to complain about in how the writers wrote Ren and Nora's relationship. XD

I ship Han with Leia in Star Wars, I've liked them since I was a kid. Imagine if I went up to perfect strangers who shipped Han with Luke and was talking to people about wishing they'd gone with Han and Luke, and I was like "haha, the ship that I like is canon and yours isn't! Luke and Han was never gonna happen, you delusional idiot!" That'd be not only asshole behavior, but it'd also be totally irrelevant to the conversation and completely meaningless to the person who clearly already knows what ship is canon.

So yeah, tl;dr version of this is: Ships that are canon aren't inherently superior to ships that aren't canon. The writers are swayed by the fandom anyway, so it could've just as easily been freezerburn if it was more popular and popular doesn't mean good. The anti-rwde, anti-criticism stuff in the fandom is one big reason why these shipping wars even continue and why some bees fans feel so superior about their ship. And it's entirely irrelevant to discussions of quality to brag about a ship's canon status.

Hunter Drones AU.

Don't know how far you are with May Zedong as the next, but if you could consider some of these ideas, I'd really be thankful.

So consider all the following with the thing that every next drone's AI, and their subsequent body, is derived from a baseline that seems to get more corrupted/fragmented and whatnot.

As an initial result, May 'spawns' with one poor or non-functioning eye, whilst the other one is extremely high functioning. The good eye compensates for her lack of proper depth perception by having multiple pupils in the same area where a normal person would have their one. It's basically several really, REALLY, high definition cameras put in a really small space; 24k resolution at minimum! She has an eye sharper sighted than an eagle and can see in infra-red, x-ray, nightvision and contains built-in flash protection among others. The game I Spy is one she's banned from playing.

May's body, whilst still a good deal stronger than an average soldier, is the weakest among the current line-up. All the processing power, materials and anything else relevant usually dedicated to physical combat prowess, has for the most part been put into Ballistic Trajectory Calculations and Recoil Management of any and all firearms. May can, and has, shot the wings of a fly from a mile away.

As for her body shape, popular horny fannon interpretation will probably do just fine. She does tend to conceal herself quite a lot it out of shyness, though. Up to you in any case.

Personality wise, is where I guess the real kinks would start to appear. Just like the others, May's got a less than healthy attraction to/obsession with Jaune. However, she's a bit more voyeuristic I'd say. She very much likes to watch him, and she doesn't even need to be in the same room to do so.

With her ridiculously large caliber and highly customised sniper rifle, accompanied by an assortment of smaller- but no less destructive -firearms, May's ready to be God and smite anyone who would endanger Jaune. No-one shall know what hit them and red mists will become rather frequent.

Well, the idea was introduce the foundry to you, whilst it is repairing her body, making her Penny 2.0. So after that, Jaune would manage to get a new DAI to work. Not that well, but it’s functionality would be between Yang’s and Blake’s level of effectiveness. Which is higher than Ruby, and Penny. And, with that, HDDAI #5: Codname: May Zedong.

The fault in her design would be her only having one functional eye. The result of which she upgrades her right eye to hell, and back to compensate for this. While the rest of her sisters robotic eyes can see up to one klick each, May can see at least three klick with ease. Can take photos/videos like the rest of the in high definition. Her eye can double as a microscope in how precise she can look at something. The rest of the modifications her eye has the rest do as well.

Raw brute strength she would be the ‘weakest’ amongst them. She is still extremely strong as a means to compensate for the heavy weapons she fires, and the recoil of said guns. Just as you said.

As for shooting the wings off a fly. Well maybe with a dart gun if she doesn’t want to blow it all to hell.

Yeah, I will keep the big chested fannon, May. In her chest she has a radar system to help cover her blind spot. It can only cover about half-a-klick however. She has a stronger battery to compensate for this. Hence a bigger chest to store/protect the batteries.

I can come up with a cannon reason for her chest size, fight me!

Her obsession with, Jaune. Yeah pretty much it.

And for her gun. I expect her to walk around with a 20mm Caliber, Anti-material rifle. Along with various other types of firearms.

So yeah, thanks for hitting the nail on the head for contemplating my future plans.

on black sun and bb

its pretty clear to me that if everything about the ships remained the same but blake turned was a guy or  sun and yangs genders were swapped  a good amount of the people who shipped bb would be shipping blacksun  instead

for one of the main reasons they shipped bb is the lgbt rep angle ( which is a bad reasoning it doesnt matter if there are tons of shows where het ships become canon or if there arent that much lgbt representation  )

and to be frank all the times I see people claim anti bb people are homophobic or would have seen evidence if it was a het ship or going there are tons of shows where het ships become canon or there are other het ships in rwby implying we are mad about bb because its a same sex ship when its not  and it  comes off as projection

given how many times I have seen them try to use the fact bb is a same sex ship as a shield or specifying the genders involved when making the complaint 

going there are tons of feasible same sex ships but they didnt go that route ( just because a same sex ship is feasible to happen ( as in they didnt hint at it being romantic but they could have chosen to gone that route ) doesnt mean they need to do it just like with het ships just because its feasible to imagine going down that route doesnt mean they need to do it instead of a same sex ship) ( as said before as in they didnt hint at the ship romantically but you could imagine them feasibly going down that route  instead they chose to go down the route of the opposite ship)

I think my initial disdain for the way Sun and Neptune are written came from how sick and tired I am of straight ships being forced on the audience when lots of us are in the lgbta community. Part of it was because my gay ships were sinking I’ll admit but honestly I’m just sick of forced straight ships especially in one of the only shows with enough well written female characters to /actually/ have believable gay ships. I don’t think I hate Sun and Neptune but I do hate how forced the ships are.

I think this is all the explanation needed(and all you need to dismiss people trying to take moral superiority over liking Bumblebee). Something the toxic side of the fandom loves to do is project and project hard. They cannot understand why someone would not think like them or like the things they do unless there's something wrong with them or they contextualize it through what they themselves would do.And that's one of them accidentally explaining how that relates to Bumblebee: wasps like it because it's a gay ship. They thought Black Sun was forced because it was not a gay ship. basically they are just calling blacksun forced because it was a straight ship if sun was a girl they wouldnt make that claim so I cant take anytime I hear someone try to pull the you would ship bb if it was a m/f pairing  or wouldnt be calling it forced if it was a m/f pairing for if sun was a woman and yang a man they wouldnt be shipping bb and would call bb forced

if whether you ship  a ship or not  is determined by genders involved  like say if two ships were paired against the other and what causes you to ship one over the other  the pairing  is genders involved  it is a shallow reason   representation isnt more important then good writing

with blacksun it was given years of teasing mutual attraction and development since v1 to v6 goodbye scene which came off as romantic in how it was shownw

 while bb arguably began to be teased in v7 v6 finale at best though nothing was inherently romantic moment

(people who try to make the claim it was built or teased from the start are wearing shipping goggles to see the most minor moment as romantic because they want it to be true and ignoring framing and context like the v3 finale ignoring that adam said he would destroy everything blake loved which includes friends and family to try and claim it declared blake loved yang romantically when it didnt .

there was nothing for sun to see in that scene where blake held yangs hand  while feeling guilty that would cause him to think romance

Because it’s about framing and context.

Sun’s wink is accompanied by a slow-mo pan of his expression, followed by the camera focusing on Blake’s slack-jawed attention, along with a literal choir singing in the background while she stares at him. This is his introduction— to Blake, but more importantly, to the audience. This is the first moment we properly meet him, and it’s through this very particular gaze.

Yang’s wink is precipitated by her trying to convince Blake to come to the dance for her own mental and physical well-being. There’s no attention given to any other motivation on Yang’s part during the exchange, or what Blake’s reaction was following.

One of these has clear romantic intent. The other does not. If I were to present these two scenes to a random bystander and remove the names from the samples, and if I asked them to tell me which scene they thought was meant to be a romantic one, my guess is that they would go with the Sun and Blake scene. Because again, it’s about the framing of the scene, and the context of the situation the characters are in.

I say that Yang’s wink is dubious evidence at best, because I acknowledge that it can technically be read as romantic— but a.) it’s extremely covert, and only noticeable if you’re looking at it to find romantic evidence in the first place, and b.) I’m highly doubtful that was the writers’ intent in the first place.

while with renora it was a plane moment where the way renora acted and bb acted with each other was different   not to mention the framing

renora was a private scene with the song about noras feelings playing nora did the lay head on shoulders scene  and moved to get closer. 

with blake and yang it was just part of a rwby moment and yang held blakes hand to comfort her reciprocating what blake did when yangs hand shook

Rwby x One Piece au!

Ruby Rose is the young captain of the Red Rose Pirates. Her mother was the legendary pirate Summer Rose whom inspired young Ruby alongside her uncle Qrow, one of her mothers former crewmates who started the cursed luck pirates and occasionally stopped to discretely dock in her hometown to visit Ruby and her sister.

Ruby ate the Rose-Rose fruit, a logia type that gives her the ability to turn her whole body into Rose petals.

Yang is Ruby's elder half sister her mother being Raven a Empress of the sea and feared captain of the Branwen Pirates. Yang waited till her sister came of age to set out on the sees due to her desire to protect Ruby while also wishing to track down Raven.

Yang lacks a devil fruit but makes up for it with expert martial arts training and armament Haki and is ger sis's first mate.

Weiss was born heiress to a small but incredibly wealthy kingdom under the world government. She gained the title after her father disowned her older sister Winter for pursuing a career in the marines. Shortly after Winter rose to the position of vice Admiral she gifted Weiss with the Glyph-Glyph fruit which is a paramecia type that essentially gives her the same powers as her canon semblance and had re entered circulation after its previous weilder their grandfather died.

Weiss had ZERO intention of joining a pirate crew, she was going to inherent her kingdom and make it better to help people and redeem her family name...until Yang started a brawl on the docks when her and Ruby were stopping in her kingdom on a supply run and Weiss happened to be down their by coincidence. One short chaotic fight later and she found herself the technical hostage of the Pirate crew of two.

After getting to know them, being forced to work with them in several life or death situations, seeing the corruption in the marines and world government and meeting Blake (see below) she ultimately came to completely turn her world view on its head. Eventually she was forcibly taken back home and the Red Rose Pirates did the classic one peice all out assault rescue that ended with Weiss finally declaring herself a formal member of the crew and getting disowned by her father. Ultimately became the crews navigatior thanks to her proper education.

Blake is a black cat mink and ex member of a incredibly radical split branch of the revolutionary army. After seeing that those she was fighting alongside had become as dangerous and ruthless as thkse they fought she left.

She ended up joining a Red Rose Pirates by chance when she got stranded on a deserted island and running into Yang when she went ashore to explore. Over time became good friends with the rest of them but had to help break Weiss out of some anti Mink prejudices. She fights mostly with blades Stealth and observation Haki. She's actually the helmsman do to having the most actual sailing experience.

An Interesting Response

Someone asked me: Raz, have you, perchance, seen the trailer for RWBY: Ice Queendom? It’s the first time I’ve been excited for anything RWBY in years.

To which I replied: Tentatively hopeful. I hope it's a proper reboot and not simply a remake that follows the same plot because RWBY's plot became a disaster zone.

Someone else (not the original asker) then replied in the comments with this gem:

The RWBY fandom has been accused of being incredibly toxic, and this sort of reaction is why. I watched RWBY right from the start and I have produced fan works for the series for almost eight years. Eight years. Moreover, the overwhelming majority of the pairings in those fan works have been, you guessed it, pairings like Ruby x Weiss, Blake x Yang, etc. Clearly, I have no idea what the show is about. I’m just some random clueless person who hates RWBY /sarcasm.

Yes, it turns out that someone who still lives and dies on the Fangrai (Fang x Lightning hill) and has continued to write work for that pairing for more than a decade has to be some evil incel shitlord who hates LGBT+ people. How can you be sure? Well, I didn’t like the old RWBY show. I must be a monster!

The simple fact that I would prefer the new show to take a different direction from the old show must mean that I’m some kind of awful person. Everyone who didn’t just love everything the old show did must be some awful hater who is an evil monster. It’s not like there could be legitimate problems that have been heavily discussed. No. That’s impossible.

This is why people call the fandom toxic.

EDIT: And now they’re blocked. Because they chose to double down that anyone who disagrees with them is a monster and a homophobe. Given how awful Tumblr can be, the fact that they’re the first person I’ve blocked in a long, long time is kind of impressive.

What do you think of fanon bumblebee? Does it treat them better than Canon?

Honestly, I wouldn't know much of it. I don't engage very much with ship content for things I don't ship, and in the case of bumbleby, I've had the ship tag (and every variant for it I can think of) filtered out for years now. So I'm not really 'in the know' on how they tend to be written in fanfics and I'm sure there's a lot of bees content that I just haven't seen. I'm sure there's plenty of great fics, fan arts, headcanons, etcetera out there that I just haven't seen.

However, with that said, I have seen some stuff from bees fans who just aren't good at tagging their stuff. And some of the trends I've seen can be kind of annoying. I really dislike how some people play up the 'Blake is a cat' thing, with fanarts of Blake like purring or playing with a piece of string or Yang petting her head. With the context of how the Faunus are portrayed in canon, it can feel uncomfortable at best. Another thing that I notice is people leaning into the whole 'Blake is just a meek little flower who needs protection, she can't be apart from Yang!' kind of thing, which I can't exactly blame people for because... That's what the writers did. But every time I see something like 'Blake is such a bi disaster, she literally falls apart when she can't see Yang's muscles for a day lol, she's such a blushing nervous little cutie' I just do not like it. It feels strange to me that the version of Blake someone would be most interested in is the passive cute sad girl who doesn't stand up for herself and not the freedom fighting passionate feisty girl who was willing to defend herself and others. I also dislike how sometimes people seem to only care about Blake's trauma if it's to prop up her and Yang as a ship or bashing Adam, or how people treat Yang's needs and what's good for Yang as the only thing that matters while what Blake needs and what's good for her is brushed off. All in all, from the little I've seen, I sometimes feel like there's a bit of a tendency in the fandom for bees fans to act like they're there for Yang and that Blake is just... incidental arm candy.

Like I said, I'm hardly the expert on how bees fans in general are and I'm sure there's a lot of good I just don't see, but those are some things I've seen that I don't like.

Justice League x RWBY Part 2

I love it. Although there's some moments involving team RWBY that really need to be in Volume 10.

Some highlights and a few of my thoughts under the cut because there's spoilers. And fair warning: there's 26 screenshots, I got a bit carried away and this got a little long.

We see Weiss struggling with the loss of Atlas, something that I hope will at least get touched on in Volume 10. It's good to see her talking to Klein, if just a video call rather than in person. There's also a glimpse of the anti-Schnee sentiment: an otherwise empty cafe where Weiss goes, apart from two faunus she helped save from Grimm. No one else wants to be around her. Poor Weiss. She deserves better. I guess at least she wasn't refused service.

Blake gets the door open to where they need to go to help the Justice League, who somehow manage to call Weiss on her scroll after running into trouble with Grimm inexplicably on Earth.

A slash from Gambol Shroud and a kick does the trick.

Finger gun and wink from Yang in appreciation, enough to get Blake to blush, despite the fact that this is after they kissed in the Ever After.

After they go through the portal and somehow automatically undergo some changes that seem to make them fit into DC's Justice League, Yang has no difficulty recognising Blake without her ears, and in fact notices they are missing before Blake does.

Poor Blake's reaction is funny, and I feel bad about that. But it is played for laughs, and she does get them back as soon as they leave, and in a computer simulation thing in the end boss fight. The same goes for Yang and her cowlick.

It's great to see Yang talk to someone a bit about what she went through after losing her arm. Even if she only did it to try to help Flash accept that he can't force himself to get over a traumatic experience because there's some things you just don't get over. Like her arm. Now if only she could talk to someone on her team about it...

And there's moments between Ruby and Yang that really really need to be in the main series:

There's when Yang's concerned that Ruby is being reckless, Ruby thinks she's doubting her, but Yang insists that she never has, she's just concerned that it isn't Ruby's confidence at work but a death wish. That Yang needs her sister. And Ruby throwing herself at Yang to hug her, and tell Yang that she's not going anywhere.

"You promise?"

And while Yang is airing her concerns, Blake puts a hand on her shoulder which Yang takes as a wordless communication to make her tone less confrontational. And it also seems like Blake giving her girlfriend some support while she's upset.

Yes, Blake looks weird without cat ears. No, she doesn't like it either.

It's good to see Yang letting Burn loose once she can (team RWBY don't have their Semblances on Earth, but other powers, apart from inside another simulation where they have their normal abilities again).

Ever since the fight against Ace Ops at the end of Volume 7 I've been wondering if Yang's burning orange eyes of fire are an evolution of her Semblance. She definitely still flashes her red eyes sometimes, like when punching Salem in the tits.

Yang briefly fighting a possessed Wonder Woman is a pretty cool moment, especially when using her Semblance to punch her through two trees (Yang did take some hits so... Burn must've been pretty charged up).

Ruby takes some punishment from possessed!Wonder Woman too. Yang catches her. Ruby tells Yang that she can't protect her from everything, that she has to trust Ruby, that she's not going to leave Yang, that she's not (their) Mom, and not Raven. My feels!

"Ruby!"

While Ruby is talking to Yang, some of it is done with a sort of mirror image of when Ruby drank the tea in Volume 9: Yang reflected in Ruby's eye.

Yang later getting possessed herself and Blake being the first to notice! Blake pointing her gun at the possessed Yang and saying Kilgore (the possessor) could never fool her using Yang!

A disturbing sight for Blake, Yang's eyes all wrong.

Weiss using a Summoned giant Arma Gigas arm to grab Yang and say "You can't have her!" Just too bad 'Yang' uses Burn to break free.

Ruby getting possessed Yang off a rooftop!

And a team effort with part of Justice League to free Yang.

Black Canary catching Yang after the Flash freed her (there was a cute moment when Black Canary and Yang met, Canary expressing appreciation of another blonde). Rather blurry because they were in the distance. This is pretty much from Blake's POV, as she had been using Gambol Shroud's ribbon to restrain Yang's left arm from a distance.

It's good to see a brief glimpse of Blake and Weiss helping Yang stay on her feet after she's freed from possession.

Team RWBY confront Watts in the final simulation, on Atlas, quite possible outside the Schnee mansion just to hurt Weiss more.

Unimpressed Yang is unimpressed that Watts expresses contempt of imbeciles (which everyone but him is) but worked with Kilgore, an actual idiot as Yang puts it. And she'd be in a position to know after having had him in her head.

It's satisfying having them provoke Watts into explaining that he worked with Kilgore because he was an idiot, and intended for Kilgore to get trapped. Kilgore overhears and possesses Watts, allowing Cyborg to trap them in the simulation indefinitely while everyone else leaves.

And we get a second Bumbleby kiss! I'm a little disappointed it was just a brief still image rather than actually animated, but it's another kiss!

But yeah. This has such good sister interactions between Yang and Ruby, and they really need to be in the main series too.

And yes, it was a bit of a pain in the neck getting these screenshots. Some of them are blink and you'll miss them moments.

Last thing on the whole bi erasure about Blake’s character that I wanted to finish that the rwde still don’t get. I know Blake’s a fictional character made from writers of a show. I’m not dense and think she’s like an actual living person, but my point is that she is still a character that represents the sexuality of real life people who are bisexual. But with the rwde some feel like the way she’s written is still not enough and think it’s not enough to call her bisexual which is exactly what my point previously was getting at. Why is it not enough? Why is it not believable that she’s into women? Why does a character needs to have x amount of moments for her sexuality to be considered believable? Those are the questions. Many will answer that she hasn’t had many explicit moments with women that shows her attraction, but the thing is, the amount of moments doesn’t make a character’s sexuality believable, it’s the way that it’s executed in the show by the writers that makes it believable. It’s believable that Blake likes women because she blushes and holds Yang, touching their foreheads together that are the exact same explicit romantic gestures shared between other wlw couples. And if that’s still not believable, then consider how Blake and Yang don’t share any of those gestures with anyone else, but with each other. That should tell the viewer that those moments are special between them that the writer made solely for them that demonstrates their romance explicitly, that’s even shown with renora who also held each other and touch foreheads in a romantic manner much like Blake and Yang did.

Blake being believable being attracted to guys can come from Ilia’s line about her having eyes for Adam and Blake blushing at Sun, so tell me how Blake being bisexual still isn’t believable. That’s why previously I mentioned real life situations as someone who is bisexual. Just because you don’t have a long list of signs showing attraction to a certain sex doesn’t make their bisexuality not believable. Their bisexuality is believable because the execution of those signs that Blake is attracted to both sexes were executed clearly. This is the point that goes over rwdes heads. They think  Blake and Yang have to confess or kiss to be obvious, but it’s already obvious. But of course most rwde are in the anti bumblebee crowd so obviously they don’t have the best wishes concerning that ship, but they need to stop using bi erasure as a way to shit on it. 

I never understand why the rwde can’t just acknowledge Blake as a bisexual, but still claim that they don’t like the writing of her bisexuality instead of always erasing her bisexuality completely and then saying she’s only into men when that’s just wrong because whether they like it or not her bisexuality is already established and confirmed and they can’t take that away, which is why it’s bi erasure

But the rwde will be rwde and most likely won’t understand how that’s bi erasure whenever they do say that she’s only into men or that she’s not into women despite her bisexuality being established and confirmed

I get regular harassment from Blacksun fans, and all you people do? Is lie about us harassing you?

So....let me make this clear. I do NOT criticize a person because of their gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity etc. That's what they are...not who they are...

Sun Wukong  abandons his teammates on a regular basis, commits theft regularly because he can, insults his partner in a library in front of everyone AND in front of people in Vytal, and judges others based on appearance.

Yang talks with Blake about her opinions, cares about her judgement, tries to understand where blake is coming from, and cares about Blake for WHO she is.

Tumblr has tons of screenshots from twitter...are you seriously saying you've never taken a screenshot of something going on? Or is it only bad when somebody you don't like does something to debate you?

Yet they claim to be fans...in the same breath that they insult the writers, the show, and the studio.

Adam (about Sun): Tell me, does Blake make all of her classmates fight for her? I love the obvious difference between Adam’s perceptions of these two relationships. He could tell how Blake truly cared for Yang just by her reaction to him noticing her. Meanwhile his taunt towards Sun doesn’t emphasize that, even though Blake and Sun do care for each other as friends. And it’s still a jab about his hurting Yang, not much to do with Sun.

It is pretty significant, given it plays into the Evil Ex and Murder the Hypotenuse tropes. The second Bees vs Adam fight makes it clear he is jealous of Yang as the person who now holds Blake’s affections. But even in Vol3, Blake herself drew comparisons between her relationships with him and Yang.
