mornings like these

Alfred wakes before the rest of them, starting with brewing a pot of coffee from Tim’s newest high-tech coffee maker. He turns the lights on for the first floor and the hallway where the rest of the family sleeps. Then he will make his way outside, enjoying the early morning chill as he fetches the mail. When he returns, he makes a mug of tea. He’ll enjoy the quiet of a still sleeping manor with the sunrise. Once his first cup is finished, he gets up to start on breakfast for the family.
Bruce is the second one to awaken. Depending on how patrol went the night before, he might work out in the manor’s gym. If not, he will spend the morning doing simple stretches to wake himself before showering. He comes down to the kitchen just in time for the kettle to be steaming for Alfred’s second cup.
He will greet Alfred with a soft grunt that roughly translates to “good morning” before taking the kettle off of the stove and prepping the second mug for his butler. It’s never quite right, but Alfred enjoys it all the same. They will trade mugs, coffee for tea, before Bruce settles in at the far right side of the breakfast bar.
As Bruce sips his coffee, black and bitter, he will paw through the mail of the morning. Trashing the junk mail, he’ll set aside any that isn’t meant for him before picking up the newspaper. Once Bruce is awake enough to bother with proper sentences, he and Alfred will discuss the day's events. What the kids will be doing, what meetings Bruce has, when patrols will start, and who’s on chore rotation (despite everyone wishing otherwise- Alfred is getting older). Alfred will remind Bruce to put any upcoming events in his calendar and every time Bruce will be astounded how the man manages to keep everyone’s lives memorized. It’s still peaceful, like the calm before the storm.
The first of Bruce’s children will come down. Damian is always the first of the kids. Coming down freshly changed and showered after spending the early hours tending to the various animals around the manor. He will greet the older men with a pleasant greeting before immediately launching into status reports on each and every animal on the grounds. He includes the birds that visit the feeder in the garden and the squirrels climbing the branches in the trees around the estate. Bruce smiles, Alfred reminds them of any veterinarian appointments, and Damian will be given the first plate of food for the morning.
Second to come down is Duke, who starts his morning by narrowly avoiding a particularly aggressive fork as he steals a bite from Damian’s plate. He’ll join in on the morning discussions by pulling out his small agenda- reminding Bruce and Alfred of any school events as Damian pouts at his food.
Damian will stop pouting once Duke is served his food, finding retribution in stealing a bite off his older brother’s plate. Duke will eat quickly, ruffle Damian’s carefully styled hair, before making his way upstairs with the promise of waking Tim and Steph for school.
As Duke showers, Tim and Steph will shuffle their way into the kitchen. Depending on the morning they’ll be in various states of preparation for the day. Steph is more awake than Tim, but they’ll both take cups of coffee from Alfred with thankful hums before sitting down for their own breakfast.
Tim will ruffle Damian’s hair again, always waiting until the younger boy has just finished fixing it. Damian will give up with a huff before lightly shoving his brother. Steph will laugh at the duo before asking Alfred and Bruce about their plans for the day. Alfred will pull their already made lunches out of the fridge, handing them off to be shoved into bookbags.
When Cas comes down, it’ll be time for the first four to leave for school. Damian will complain about the skills of their driver, which changes with each week, loudly enough for Bruce to hear. Alfred will remind Damian that he can always take the bus, to which the youngest of them will suddenly grow very quiet. Steph and Tim will follow their brothers out the front door, bickering over what music to play for the morning. And when the door closes behind them, the house will grow quiet again.
Cas doesn’t talk very much, but Bruce appreciates being able to practice his sign language every morning anyways. She smiles brightly, even when he stumbles and takes far too long to respond. She’ll thank him every morning for trying, anyways. He’ll ask about her civilian job, a translator at the courthouse, and she’ll launch into an excited discussion that has Bruce’s brain working double time in order to catch every quick flick of her fingers. She doesn’t drink coffee, but she happily accepts the fresh juice of whatever fruit is in season at that moment. Alfred will grab her jacket and bag for her, despite Cas’s daily protests. She’ll give both men a kiss on the cheek before signing “Love you, Father. Love you, Grandfather.”. Then, she will take her leave, walking out the front door just as quietly as she had entered the kitchen.
Alfred and Bruce will be left in the kitchen for another half an hour. The newspaper will finally be read and Bruce will have taken out his phone to double check his schedule for the day. He’ll receive the texts that his kids have made it to their respective schools without incident (or with, some mornings). Alfred will have enough time to make his own breakfast, taking his seat next to Bruce to quietly eat his fill.
By the time Alfred has started on the first round of dishes, Jason will slink into the kitchen. Taking after his adoptive father, he will have just finished up his morning workout. His hair will still be dripping onto his clothes as he takes a seat at the other end of the breakfast bar. He always greets Alfred first and as the years go by, his greetings to Bruce will grow warmer. He drinks water first, practically chugging it in his post-work out dehydration before slowing himself down for a cup of Alfred’s tea.
Dick will come down just in time for Jason to start eating. The two will say their good mornings with insults that have no bite but still earn a disapproving glare from Bruce. Dick will sit between them and take a mug of coffee from Alfred after regarding him as the “God of Breakfast”. The four men will fall into comfortable silence and eventually Dick will get his own food.
Alfred will inquire about the schedules of his eldest grandsons’. Dick will launch into his latest case and Jason will politely avoid any topic relating to his less than legal dealings. Alfred will smile no matter the news, before giving both of them praise for working so hard.
Dick will leave first, somehow always losing track of time and rushing out with a “thank you” called over his shoulder. Jason will roll his eyes before getting up to follow after, either to slink back up to his room or out the door after his older brother.
Bruce will finish his coffee, which is far beyond cold now, before rolling up his own sleeves to aid Alfred in the last round of dishes. Alfred will huff and make passive-aggressive comments about being younger than he looks, but doesn’t stop Bruce.
Bruce will find his suit jacket and briefcase by the door. He’ll dry his hands before making his way over to the door, letting Alfred adjust his tie one last time before opening the front door.
Alfred will be left in the quiet manor, a warmth in his heart at knowing his family is out living their lives. He will close the door and return to the foyer, where he’ll enjoy a comfortable break in the once again quiet manor.

Hello!
With the 1st season of BWFA finished, I'm curious about what they gonna do with the Joker later on. With the events of Death In The Family and Killing Joke basically confirmed to already happen in this universe and general tone of the comic (slice of life comedy that also focuses on delivering important messages through dialogues), I assume he won't have major role in any of the episodes anytime soon besides cameos in flashbacks.
What do you think?
Hi! I'm patiently waiting for S2 of BWFA, as it was a nice comfort to read once a week during my hectic schedule. Can't wait 💔
Now for your question, I don't see joker appearing in BWFA because of it being a slice-of-life fanon batfam webcomic. I don't think he would ever show up since the webtoon is not action focused (most action we saw was Cass' 2 parter episodes ''All Seeing''), and I don't think he fits in any potential storyline for the future and I wouldn't want him too. If he did make an appearance, it would be more about the batkids' than him, and the episode would be neatly wrapped in a bow at the end so there wouldn't be any real weight to joker showing up. Joker is the least likely out of any other DC/Gotham character to show up in this webtoon imo.
Dark storylines like ‘’Death in the family’’, ‘’Killing Joke’’ etc, were already technically confirmed (and most of DC’s canon) since Ep 1, because of Jason being Red Hood and Babs as Oracle. Their vigilante mantles that they wear come with a history, and Jason and Babs’ mantles are known as what happened after their traumas. There's no way you can make Jason being Red hood and Babs as Oracle without completely changing their stories, and they didn’t technically, just their personalities and circumstances like Jason showing up in the manor sometimes for batfam shenanigans. They do use the comics as the source material, but show them in their fanon personalities like most do online. Hopefully you get what I'm saying lmao.
Also, Jason’s recent episode featuring his trauma surrounding his death didn’t surprise me because a lot of fanon works like to feature batkids in fluff/angst fanon.
Thanks for the ask!
