Dage prompt! Modern AU, NHS brings JC home officially as his boyfriend. Dage likes him, he's clearly dependable and obviously in love with NHS. But he's still gonna make him sweat a little (and then maybe buy him a beer).
Thank you for the prompt! Always love a protective Da-ge. I hope you enjoy!
~ ~ ~
Nie Mingjue had been in the laundry room when his brother came through the front door – without knocking, as usual – and the first he heard from his brother’s new boyfriend was a string of curse words whispered sharply. Nie Mingjue had been a step away from running to the kitchen to get his most impressive meat cleaver... but when he poked his head into the hallway, he paused at what he actually saw. A tall young man (but not as tall as Nie Mingjue) was helping Nie Huaisang out of his jacket, even holding his hand out expectantly to take a hat and scarf, and when the curses restarted, Nie Mingjue discovered that they were about how Nie Huaisang had ‘forgotten’ his gloves again.
Something Nie Mingjue had reminded his brother about his entire life.
When Nie Mingjue came out to greet them, he was properly introduced to Jiang Cheng. The young man made a quick bow – proper, respectful – and though he looked a little nervous, he was not overly fearful.
So far so good – he was already a sight better than Nie Huaisang’s last three significant others.
Over dinner, he found out Jiang Cheng was a veterinarian – good money, loved animals – and had met Nie Huaisang when his pet budgie had fallen sick (it had been a minor infection, and the bird had survived to twitter again). When Nie Mingjue asked his brother about what he’d been doing lately, Nie Huaisang began to talk about a painting he’d been working on, and Jiang Cheng immediately pulled out his phone to bring up a photo of it – supportive of Nie Huaisang’s hobbies, proud of his work. And when Nie Mingjue started teasing his brother about never going to the gym, at first Jiang Cheng had joined in – apparently he’d been trying to get Nie Huaisang to join him for a yoga class – but the moment Nie Huaisang looked genuinely affected by their teasing, Jiang Cheng stopped, took his boyfriend’s hand, and changed the subject.
For once, Nie Huaisang had brought home a date that Nie Mingjue was hard pressed to find fault with.
But that didn’t mean Jiang Cheng was completely off the hook.
After dinner was finished, Nie Huaisang pulled Jiang Cheng up to help clear the table of dishes. As they began filling the sink with water, Nie Huaisang announced he needed to make a stop in the men’s room – and then he looked meaningfully, and warningly, at Nie Mingjue. He shrugged innocently at his baby brother, then waved him off. The moment Nie Huaisang was out of sight, however, Nie Mingjue stood up and walked over to the fridge.
“You don’t mind if I do some prep for tomorrow’s dinner while you work on the dishes, do you?” he asked Jiang Cheng as he took out a rack of ribs he’d pulled out to defrost that morning.
“Of course not,” Jiang Cheng replied, gently sliding dishes into the soapy water. “Let me know if I’m in your way, or if I can help.”
“I will.” He opened a drawer and pulled out his favourite meat cleaver – it sat in his hand like an extension of his arm. He placed the rack just so, then brought the cleaver down with a bang to separate a mass of bone and cartilage.
Jiang Cheng jumped at the noise and looked over; his hand paused mid-way to reaching for a scrubber.
Nie Mingjue was gratified to see a slight shake in the hand.
“Did my Didi mention how our parents died when we were really young?” he asked ‘casually’ as he noisily chopped to separate the meat between two ribs. Jiang Cheng nodded; his throat bobbed. “For all these years, we’ve been each other’s only family.” Another rib separated. “Sure he’s my baby brother, but I practically raised him, too. That means something, don’t you think?”
“Y-yes, sir.”
“And A-Sang hasn’t always had the best taste in partners.” He chopped through another mass of cartilage. “There was this one little asshole he dated in secondary school. Thought he could pressure him into doing something he wasn’t ready for.” He sliced out several more ribs with strength and efficiency. “Sure, I’m lucky the little brat never pressed charges – I think he claimed that a bear attacked him – but even if he had, it would have been worth it. Because nobody – and I mean nobody – hurts my Didi and lives to tell about it.”
He slammed the cleaver down into the butcher block so hard that it stuck into the wood. Nie Mingjue let it go and reached for a nearby cloth to wipe his hands off. He looked up at Jiang Cheng, who had yet to look away from the knife, and tilted his chin, waiting for a response.
“Da-ge, what are you doing?”
Nie Mingjue looked to the kitchen door where his brother had just returned to glare at him.
“A-Cheng, did he try to scare you? He acts tough, but he’s just a big teddy bear.” Nie Huaisang walked over to the sink and affectionately bumped his hip into Jiang Cheng’s, then picked up a towel.
It had been ages since Nie Mingjue had watched his brother help with the dishes without half an hour of cajoling and a bribe or two.
“It’s all right,” Jiang Cheng replied, giving Nie Mingjue a nod. “Nothing worse than anything I’ve said to A-Jie’s boyfriends.”
Nie Huaisang lifted an eyebrow in his boyfriend’s direction. “You threatened to make Jin Zixuan a eunuch and feed his balls to the neighbour’s dog.”
Jiang Cheng scrubbed at a plate with a satisfied grin. “And I’d do it again.”
Nie Huaisang rolled his eyes and took the plate from his boyfriend to dry.
Nie Mingjue watched them, a fond smile on his face.
Okay, Didi – this one’s all right.

Once Wukong us out form under the bed Redson definitely attaches himself to the monkey and, very gently (PIF had explained Uncle Wu is having a baby so he knows to be careful), starts headbutting him and lecturing him in his own baby bull way for "leaving me and Momma along and don't you ever go to sleep again!"
Mei is happy with her new chew toy in the form of Wukong's tail, much to her parents' combined amusement and horror. Wukong himself didn't seem to kind thank goodness.
referencing this previous post.
Awwwww
Wukong is hiding under the bed in Sandy's cabin, lying on his side with his back against the wall. He's almost shaking with the shock of not only being awakened from his deep sleep, but also the sights of what appeared to be his deceased Pilgrim brothers standing above him, in addition to his sister-in-law and a few dragons(?). It's a lot to take in.
And suddenly a familiar little flash of red scrambles under the bed to voice it's complaints.
Red son is headbutting Wukong as gently as he can to get his fury across. Red's mama warned him not to headbutt his uncle's tummy cus a baby is in there, so he keep bumping his rough forehead against the king's chest and shoulders in between his squeaky yelling.
Wukong tries to supress a massive smile on his face. Red is 100% his dage's child. Wukong gets a flood of guilt at the thoughts of how he'd left PIF all alone in those 500 years by sealing away her husband, sending away her son.
He becomes more resigned to staying under the bed for a bit longer...
Then he feels a very famililar "chomp!" on the end of his tail...
He yips at the sudden attack, head turning to see a humanoid dragon pup having joined them under the dim bunk; smiling with delight as her milk fangs dig into the Monkey King's tail.
Wukong's heart just explodes with adoration for the little pup. He just knows who this little one is.
Ao Lie had bitten his tail in very much the same fashion when they had a chance encounter in the palaca stables long before the Journey. A part of him now living on in this equally-adorable little girl.
Red is now headbutting his shoulder, now upset that he's "being ignored!". Wukong can't help but respond with an affectionate nudge of his snout against the calf's forehead. He whips his tail around so that the dragon pup can have something to play-fight with.
This softness, the playfullness, this... parental-ness, coming from the dreaded and feared Monkey King, completely throws the observering noodle shop gang for a loop.
PIF sighs with relief. Her brother-in-law is coming back to his old self already.

something i just adore in a journey to love but which maybe gets lost in translation because it never shows up in the subtitles is that whenever someone on the team talks to yuan lu about someone else they always say "your _____-ge / jie".
like "go with your qian-dage to the lake", "he saved your shisan-ge", "listen to your ruyi-jie"
(the subtitles only ever say "listen to ruyi" or "he saved shisan")
idk what it is... but it is so soothing to me. like it adds a layer of familiarity and it is exactly how you would talk to the baby of the family.

Lan Qiren modern AU fosters cats. He does not keep them. They are not HIS pets. But he fosters them constantly. Like. Kitten season is absolutely chaos at the main family house. Lan Xichen stopped asking to keep them around 8 cause he realized he was always a little relieved when the house was quiet, but Lan Wangji never really wanted one for himself at all. But. Lan Qiren proves himself a liar several times when he’s got a grumpy old cat in the manor all rubbing up on him and grooming his kids and he’s all ‘oh. Okay. We can keep that one’ and keeps fostering others. Just. Also. Now the kittens will have grumpy old uncles to check on them as they play too.
His fostering system also goes out the window when Lan Wangji comes home with a kid who Wangji found with a scraped knee at the park (the park across the street, and even tho Uncle is directly outside in the garden watching you, do not mean you should cross the street with someone else’s kid, A-Zhan, what if they think Uncle uses you to lure children inside????) and Lan Qiren notices that for some reason they have Jiejie Yanli (who Wei Wuxian has kindly pointed out) watching over an entire children’s birthday party by herself with no help. Oooof.
So. He gathers the kids up, grabs Xichen from the sitting room where he’s practicing his xiao, and take them back to the party. Yanli is DEVASTATED when she realizes that not only is an adult (she’s only like 13 okay this burden should NOT have come on her) coming to correct her, but her precious baby brother has made it all the way across the street with a stranger while she wasn’t looking???
Lan Qiren has managed to wrangle all the kids together within 5 minutes, gotten several booboos bandaged and asked Yanli to pass out some small snacks to keep them busy for a minute. Just in time for Xichen to come back from across the street in another direction, with the Nie brothers. This is actually helpful for once cause Mingjue is 16 (wow. So. Big.) and NHS comes with crafting supplies at all times.
It might end up messier than usual, but even the birthday boy Jiang Cheng, was getting overwhelmed and upset in the party before. Now he’s making friends with the pretty boy DaGe brought to play with them, and Yanli is finally no longer panicking, so both the brothers can calm down. Wangji is married now, obviously. They will adopts many babies and play house all the time. Before they were sorta trying to wrangle the other kids themselves which lead to A-Ying getting pushed down, and A-Cheng getting into some fights.
Qiren sits Yanli down and explains to her that he’s not mad at her, he’s not even disappointed in her. He’s disappointed in her mother who thought it would be a good idea to put someone with such little life experience in charge of a party of 10-15 kiddos. Even he called Xichen to go get his older friend up the street for backup instead of doing that alone. He also gives her a hug. Xichen likes hugs, and he’s an affectionate kiddo, and the kittens have prepared Qiren well. She is very happy and notes down their house mentally as a trusted adult who can help, or probably knows someone who can.
Lan Qiren may be an expert kitten fosterer, which means he’s ready to storm the chaos and turn it into a bundle of fluff… but even he wasn’t quite ready for his nephew’s husband to move in with them with a baby at 20. At least he’s prepared. Life is funny sometimes.

[I doubt this will be done by Nie Huaisang's birthday, but we'll see.]
Jiang Cheng looked different.
Not drastically so, of course, but to the eyes of someone who has spent an inordinate amount of time cataloguing his features, the way he moved, every minute detail about him, the differences were undeniable.
To someone like Nie Huaisang.
He had always been tall and handsome and well-built, of course. Nie Huaisang hadn't been able to look away, from the moment Jiang Cheng and his shixiong had arrived at the Cloud Recesses all those years ago. (Had it really been five years? It seemed like it was just yesterday. It seemed like several lifetimes.) Nie Huaisang's eyes were always drawn to him, drinking in everything about him, committing it to memory so he could recreate it with his brush by candlelight. He had filled so much paper with Jiang Cheng's likeness, really it was a wonder that Jiang Cheng never found them in his room. That would have been so embarrassing, and difficult to explain away.
The point was, at fifteen, Jiang Cheng had already been the most beautiful boy Nie Huaisang had ever seen. But now… he was taller for one. They both were, but comparatively the height difference was greater than it had been five years ago. His chest was broader, tapering down to a waist just as narrow as it had been. He had already been strong and sleekly muscled, Nie Huaisang had seen that plenty of times, when they had snuck to the creek and Jiang Cheng had swam in only his trousers. (Nie Huaisang hadn't known how to swim, he never ventured far into the water. Jiang Cheng swam like he'd been born in the water.) Jiang Cheng had filled out since then, the flowing silk of his sleeves could not hide the bulge of his biceps, and the collars of his robe strained to cross over his pectorals.
And his face. Five years, grief and war had melted away what baby fat had still been there at fifteen. His cheekbones were now exquisitely defined, his jawline so sharp that Nie Huaisang wondered if it could possibly cut his skin if he ran his fingers on it.
He had learned to school his expressions better, befitting the leader of a major clan.(It didn't matter that Yunmeng Jiang had been decimated, that its ranks were full of rogues or new recruits younger even than their leader, Jiang Cheng stood proud and commanding and if not everyone agreed that it was still one of the great clans, Nie Huaisang was certain that they would before long). But his eyes. No matter how impassive and dignified his expression, Jiang Cheng's eyes were full of storms, emotion shone in them like the crackle of electricity at his fingers.
Those eyes widened now, as he saw Nie Huaisang coming towards him. They softened, like clouds clearing after a storm, and those lips that Nie Huaisang had drawn so many times, had dreamed of so many nights, those lips quirked up into a smile. For him.
Without saying anything, and before Nie Huaisang could react, Jiang Cheng strode across the distance between them and enveloped him in a fierce hug, strong arms tight around him.
He really was substantially taller than Nie Huaisang than before. It was a little bit like being hugged by dage. Well, not really. Dage's hugs didn't set his heart racing like this, after all.
Nie Huaisang let Jiang Cheng pull him up on tiptoes while Jiang Cheng hunched protectively around him, bowing his head so his lips were by Nie Huaisang's ear.
"It's so good to see you," his voice was a raspy whisper. It made Nie Huaisang's hands clutch tightly at his robes.
How long had it been since they'd last seen each other? Nie Huaisang couldn't recall. Months. Not quite a year. Too long.
Jiang Cheng finally released him, setting him back on his heels and stepped back, looking a little sheepish at his display.
Nie Huaisang hastily straightened his robes before clasping his hands together in a bow. "Jiang-zongzhu."
Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes at him. "Don't do that, Huaisang, there's no need."
He ducked his head to hide his smile. He would have pulled out his fan, snapped it open to hide behind, but something in Jiang Cheng's intense gaze stopped him.
"Jiang-xiong," he amended.
"Better," Jiang Cheng scoffed, lips quirking into a smile. He held out his arm and Nie Huaisang slipped his hand through. It felt comforting and familiar to walk arm in arm with Jiang Cheng like this, in this place.
"I only heard that you arrived a little while ago," Nie Huaisang said. "I'm glad I caught you before you left."
"I'm staying the night," Jiang Cheng said. "Besides, I wouldn't have left without seeing you."

Could you please write extremely protective NMJ over NHS? Like how this progresses from when NHS is a baby till adult and how NHS knows that his dage loves him more than anything or anyone in the world 🥺
Day of Birth: Nie Mingjue declares that if anything tries to hurt his new baby brother, he'll tear it to pieces with his bare hands. Most of the adults laugh, but Nie Haoran knows that glint in his son's eye.
Three Years Old: Little Sangsang is struggling to get through winter, coughing too frequently to cry about how miserable he is. Nie Mingjue only leaves his side to fetch more medicinal soup or tea or to keep the fire going.
Seven Years Old: Nie Huaisang mistakenly attempts to befriend a large wild dog. When it lunges at him, Nie Mingjue catches it by the scruff and heaves it into the undergrowth with just one hand. He doesn't even care he has to wait for his shoulder to heal.
Eight-and-a-Half Years Old: Nie Mingjue (with backup) fights his own qi-deviation-maddened father to the death when the latter nearly strangles Nie Huaisang during one of his delusional fits.
Nine Years Old: Thinking the Nie sect weakened, some opportunistic rogues kidnap Huaisang for ransom. Nie Mingjue huts them down and carries his drugged brother home covered in their blood.
Thirteen Years Old: Wen Xu makes a not-so-veiled threat against Huaisang. Mingjue personally escorts his brother to the Cloud Recesses for the first of his early rounds of lectures and promises Wen Xu if he tries anything, he'll be returned to Qishan in pieces.
Sixteen Years Old: Nie Mingjue has to be physically restrained by several disciples from killing the cultivator who delivers the Indoctrination Camp order on the spot. He can't go to protect his brother personally, but three of his most capable disciples volunteer. The frustration of having to wait for news eats him alive.
Seventeen Years Old: When Huaisang and the disciples return, bedraggled and beaten and hungry, Mingjue joins the servants delivering food to the infirmary just as he did when his brother was a toddler.
Eighteen Years Old: Nie Mingjue begrudgingly sends Nie Huaisang to the Cloud Recesses on the reasoning that the Wens will be less likely to focus on a target they already burned down once and more on crushing the Unclean Realms. When he finds out Huaisang has joined the infirmary and kitchen tents, he almost pulls his brother out, since they might become targets as well. Meng Yao is the one to talk him out of that.
Twenty-Three Years Old: When the rage haze leaves him, Nie Mingjue is sick with himself. The bonfire is the closest he's ever come to raising a hand to his brother in anger.
Twenty-Three Years Old: One of the last things Nie Mingjue sees is his sobbing brother holding his arm where Baxia has cut him deep.

Can someone help me find these wangxian fics ?
1. Wei ying and the juniors were out on a night hunt and they stayed at an inn. Jin ling said something that hurt wei ying’s feelings, so he went to his room first. When he left, sizhui trapped him against the wall and revealed that the reason they have all the thousands of rules was because it was to make sure that their true strength wouldn’t be seen? He said something about how their eyes turn golden if they use their strength or power? And thats why lan zhans eyes are golden.
2. Its omegaverse and sizhui is jealous when wangxian have their biological baby bc they dont have time for him. He feeds his baby sister and makes her a meal but suddenly she dies. It turns out he replaced the berries with poisonous ones bc he wanted wangxian’s attention for himself as their only child.
3. Wei ying is trapped in CR, specifically in the jingshi. He and sizhui manage to escape from lan zhan, but it turns out sizhui told lan zhan before hand and he drugged him. Lan zhan had been drugging wei ying to make sure that he remains in the jingshi with him and sizhui wanted their family together forever.
4. Jiang cheng, huasang and wuxian go kn a camping/hiking trip? Anyways they take turns driving and the whole time jiang cheng is judging everyones ability to drive, including his. Huasang ran away from dage bc he didnt want to work out or something and jiang cheng has a crush on him (can’t remember)

mdzs kindergarten au where 10yo nie mingjue went to pick his baby bro a-sang and baby a-ying and a-cheng look at him and go woah you're so big gege are you adult?? a-sang your brother looks so cool!! and start following mingjue gege around like little ducklings, a-sang loves this because he loves his dage and loves when people love him, so he's a very happy child; on the other side, shy a-zhan is silently jealous and bit a-sang until he bleeds because a-sang is a friend thief and a brother thief
they grow up and wei ying and jiang cheng still look up to mingjue, now 20yo, and start playing football ⚽ because of him and huaisang is like "please don't ask me to do this with you guys or i'll hate you forever and tell dage to not talk to you guys ever again" so he ends up as they supporter from the stands while they play and always ask mingjue ge to watch their big games, trying to shoot as much goals as they could; while they're at it, lan zhan, still jealous of mingjue but now for a different reason, decides to play basketball (because he is higher than everyone in school) and try to show off to his best friend wei ying in hopes he'll finally fall in love with him, and even asks huaisang for help sometimes (he doesn't know, but wei ying is already head over hills in love with his lan zhan, but is afraid of losing his friendship over a (im)possible unrequited love)
now they're all in college, jin zixuan finally realized how much of a idiot he is and now is trying to court jiang yanli (and is somewhat successful although nothing he does go exactly the way he wanted to), mingjue is married to meng yao, and both wei ying and jiang cheng still look up to him but now they're more mature about it. wei ying stopped playing football so he could chase his dream of being an artist, going to university with huaisang who's studying fashion. lan zhan thought very seriously on what he wanted to do and he more or less disappointed his uncle when he said he would go to the same uni as wei ying and huaisang because he wanted to study music. xichen asks, very seriously, if he chose this so he could still be beside wei ying and lan zhan is quite offended, but doesn't really deny it. jiang cheng went to another uni the same as jin zixuan and senior lan xichen, still plays football and still asks mingjue ge to watch his important games together with his friends and sister
and when they're finally adults, during wangxian marriage (after do many years pining stupidly), huaisang smirks and start his maid of honor speech with a power point presentation full of pictures and some short videos about their love story, talking about wei ying's crush on his dage and lan zhan's cute childish jealousy (and he can clearly see xichen's fingers in this, he didn't remember being filmed while crying that wei ying loved mingjue ge more than him, but he was six for the love of the gods!!) and proceedes to show embarrassing pictures of both of them pining from afar and everyone just laugh and share their own stories and the couple is embarrassed but a bit more in love with each other. they're all happy
by the end of all the speeches, lan zhan very calmly take the microphone, thanks everyone for being present, his uncle for everything, his parents in law for wei ying, his husband, and then he turns and look to his brother for a long moment with a tiny, tiny smirk and then look to huaisang ans says, very serious "thank you huaisang for being our friend, and for holding my brother's heart with so much affection, i can't wait for my turn to make a speech on your marriage"
wei ying and jiang cheng laugh so hard and so loud, mingjue chokes hard on his wine and laugh and cough at the same time, wei ying's parent try to hide their own laughter and uncle qiren just sigh with a head shake, while both xichen and huaisang just turn bright red with embarrassment, huaisang glaring at lan zhan before sighing loudly and muttering "i hate you, you petty bitch"
